Landmark
Villa Jovis, also known as Villa of Jupiter, is the remains of a lavish Roman palace constructed by Emperor Tiberius in AD 27 on a headland. The site offers stunning views and can be accessed by foot. According to historical accounts, the emperor indulged in luxury at this mountaintop villa, adorning it with explicit artwork and allegedly engaging in scandalous activities.
Visiting Villa Jovis was an unforgettable experience. The site is rich with history, and walking through the ruins where Emperor Tiberius once lived gives you a real sense of the ancient world. The views from the cliffs are absolutely breathtaking some of the most stunning panoramas you’ll see in Capri. It’s a bit of a hike to reach (about 40 minutes uphill from Capri town), so bring comfortable shoes and water, but it’s well worth the effort. The combination of history, atmosphere, and scenery makes Villa Jovis a must see for anyone visiting the island. Highly recommended if you love history, archaeology, or just want to enjoy some of the most beautiful views in Capri.
Euclides R — Google review
Visited October 2024. Approximately a one hour walk from Capri town the Villa is at the summit of Mount Tiberius - sounds daunting but not really. The path leading to the villa is paved/tarmac/concrete and is wheelchair (wheel) friendly. Having said that this is a two-thousand year old site, wheels would be very difficult once inside. A wonderful piece of history with a modest entrance fee and a relaxed atmosphere once inside. Restored in places but most of the structure looks authentically old. With panoramic views of The Bay of Naples including a fantastic view of Sorrento, if you make the effort you will be rewarded when you get there.
P B — Google review
A must visit for anyone going to Capri and interested in history. The ruins are not well preserved but still worth seeing and walking through. The walk from the port is not for the weak, particularly during the summer heat. Be prepared for equivalent of about 102 flights of stairs (per my garmin watch) to get there. Along the way, many grocers and shops to stop and get a refreshment to stay cool on the way up and dozens of places for lunch in the way down. Tip, don’t go to the places in busy touristy areas. Find a spot all by itself, there are many.
Sergio B — Google review
An large villa with a really interesting history. Read up on Tiberio Augusto before you visit and then let those stories come to life! Entrance is a reasonable price and the park next to it with the cliff top path is amazing. And ad its Capri through views are stunning.
Ben M — Google review
Get ready for quite the trek. A lot of stairs up and up hill walking. The history of this place interesting and the views were amazing, but I definitely would never do it again!
Natalie S — Google review
Ugo made this visit more than we could possibly have anticipated. Thanks Ugo! We happened to arrive in time for his post lunch tour of the grounds and we learned a great deal. His info and insight into the location and island were a genuine highlight of the trip to Capri. The villa itself is a surprisingly huge complex, with a major water collection system, strangely topped by a catholic chapel built above it before they realised Emperor Tiberius' palatial villa was underneath. Amazing views also from the chapel and the park next door where we saw goats for the only time on the 3 day visit. It's an uphill trek and there's a great 20min forest short cut across to Villa Lysis which is worth seeing in combination with Villa Jovis but bring a packed lunch or allow enough time. The gardens, houses and sleeping cats along the way made this an even better excursion. I started this review at 4 stars for Villa Jovis but the whole trip was 5 stars.
Josic C — Google review
Absolutely stunning views from Villa Jovis. The ruins themselves are interesting as well, but the five star views are the real reason to make the trek. There is another small park about 100m before the entry to Villa Jovis, which is worth a look as well. We stayed at Hotel Marmela and it was about a 35 minute walk along paved walkways and a few flights of stairs. The walkways are beautiful and very quiet before 1030 am. After that, you will start seeing the day tours. We were there at 1015 and were the only people at the Villa. 6 Euro entry fee and there are toilets at the site.
Patrick C — Google review
Worth the hike but be aware it is demanding with some steep segments to get there. The views are worth the hike. 6 euro entrance. Once inside you can walk around the site and take your photos. We did Villa Jovis first as soon as we got to Capri and then Natural Arch.

The Faraglioni, a group of three majestic rock formations off the coast of Capri, offers a stunning and unique view for visitors. Boats pass through an arch formed by these iconic oceanic rocks, providing an unforgettable experience. The nearby botanic Gardens of Augustus offer breathtaking panoramic views that include the Faraglioni Islands emerging from the sea. From this vantage point, visitors can also access the Via Krupp, a historic twisted street leading to Marina Piccola.
This is truly the best of Amalfi Coast. A one hour island tour of Capri is just so mesmerising that you'd like to go back here again & again. Views of the coastline and the grottos are just great and the blue mediterranean water does the magic! Don't miss it for anything.

Seeing the Faraglioni by boat was one of the best parts of visiting Capri. Sailing past these natural rock formations is breathtaking. The views, the sea breeze, it all adds to a perfect day.

Took a half day boat trip, during the trip we saw these as well as many other amazing sites from the water around Capri. Highly recommend doing something similar, also we packed a picnic lunch for our half day trip and it was a great way to spend the morning.

Good view from the boat
Sze T — Google review
you can visit it by boat, and pass through the arch, or just go to one panoramic point.
Anelisa C — Google review
Get a private boat tour with the local skipper-those guys are knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and very good guides if you want to explore areas around the island.

We saw this rock formation as part of our day trip by boat from Nerano. This tour depart Nerano to Capri where you spend 5 hours on Capri and before you depart, the boat goes around the island and through the archway made by this rock formation. The tour encouraged couples to kiss as we passed through the archway as it gives the couple a good luck wish. They teased it would lead to pregnancy. It's certainly a nice stop as part of a tour.

Giardini di Augusto, also known as the Gardens of Augustus, is a picturesque botanical garden located in Capri. The garden offers sweeping views of the sea and the village of Marina Piccola below. It features a footpath that leads to the village and provides a classic view of the Faraglioni rock formations.
No queue to entry, tickets can be purchased at a vending machine right outside (no cash accepted). The only wait i had to do is to take pictures at the watch points. The garden is not so big, but the view is breathtaking. 😄 Right next to the garden you will find the roof top bar which has excellent cocktails next to the same mesmerising view.
Hilda P — Google review
The gardens of Augustus is a beautiful mountaintop garden which has a few statues and benches but it's main selling point is the view at the top. If you are on a tour and don't have much time I would recommend, as it's easy enough to get to and is a stunning "Instagram worthy" spot. Of course you have to pay to get in which you can do via a QR code or buying tickets. You can pay in your own currency on the app, which I thought was cool. I think £4 for a tiny garden with a view is milking it though, I think it should be done on a donation basis. You'll have people everywhere posing at every which angle so find a few good spots, take some snaps and get out of there!
JB R — Google review
€2.50 per person for entry and not sure its worth it. It is essentially 10m2 of grass with some flowers, several view points towards the faraglioni and a couple more on the other side towards the Via Krupp. Some good views of the faraglioni rocks but lots of people in the way taking photos of course. The views are just as good at the roof terrace next door and you can have a drink whilst enjoying the view! Win win
B M — Google review
Beautiful views and definitely worth a visit to get some memorable pictures. Lots of places to sit and relax but you’re not allowed to eat there. Entry was €2.5 and definitely worth the views.
Tina S — Google review
Nice and well maintained gardens. Entrance fee of €2,50 a person. Plenty of scenic viewpoints. Make sure to arrive as early as possible to prevent having to navigate the tourist groups that start arriving as early as of 09:30. They open at 09:00, and since it’s a small garden between 09:00 and 09:30 is a very nice window to see it all in all tranquility.(excluding the via Krupp)
Evan — Google review
Lovely gardens atop of Capri full of colorful flower beds running along narrow paths, shady trees and statues - a peaceful oasis with gorgeous views. The small entry fee is certainly worth it, there is a vending machine inside selling cold bottled water for 1€. From there you can take the switch back path down to Marina Piccola, it took us about 30 minutes.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
After our ferry ride, we made our way to the Garden of Augustus. The views were truly magnificent, and the serene atmosphere made for a perfect escape. The vibrant colors of the flowers against the deep blue of the sea were a sight to behold. However, the experience was slightly marred by the cost of entry. It felt like a bit of a rip-off to pay €2.50 per person for such a small area. What was even more frustrating was the price of water. Having to shell out €2.50 for a tiny 300ml bottle felt like pure exploitation, especially on a hot day. It's a shame that a place of such natural beauty has to resort to such practices to squeeze every penny out of its visitors.
Pavan N — Google review
Lovely little garden in an amazing location. The statues and plants are very nice, and the grounds are very well maintained. The really impressive aspect is the surrounding architecture, particularly the switchback ramp leading all 100+ meters down to the sea.

Certosa San Giacomo Capri is a 14th-century Carthusian monastery known for its diverse architecture, frescoes, and stunning views of the sea. The monumental complex features impressive cross, barrel, and coffered vaults that are typical of the island's architecture. It is situated near the Augustus Gardens, offering a classic view of the Faraglioni rocks.
Stunning venue for art and example of 14th century Caprese architecture. The building has a storied past with faded frescos and long, empty hallways. It has a mysterious air with mildly overgrown areas and clean, but empty rooms with amazing views of the sea. The art exhibition is like nothing I've ever seen with the natural lighting highlighting the oil paintings which were already expressive and dramatic. Off season, it was €6 for two people (cash only), and fully worth the quiet, off-the-beaten path exploration.
L L — Google review
Fantastic art and history museum carefully placed within a former monestary. The art is well-curated, and the monstary building is unique and beautiful. The history exhibit features artifacts of the Roman Imperial family related to their residence on Capri, which also includes a number of statues, busts, and other art. There is a stunning seaside view in a balcony on this part of the museum.
Michael F — Google review
Enjoyed the quiet serenity in this mostly empty rooms, long halls and courtyards. Church has some interesting frescoes. Also there is a museum (didn’t go) and gallery. Also great bathrooms!
YYY — Google review
The Certosa San Giacomo is a beautiful and peaceful spot in Capri, full of history and charm. The monastery dates back centuries, and walking through its courtyards, cloisters, and halls gives a real sense of the island’s past. The architecture is striking, and the grounds are well maintained, making it a relaxing place to explore away from the busier areas of Capri. There was no wait to enter when we visited, and tickets did not need to be booked in advance, which made it easy and stress free. From here, you also get some great views of the sea and surrounding landscape. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re interested in history, architecture, or just want a quiet and beautiful escape in Capri.

Bought an under 18 ticket on their website for me on a school trip for a solo visit. And it was free!! Was able to buy the tickets before our trip, and received an email with the online ticket and qr code. Update today I visited the museum/monument and it was AMAZING. It was so big and the inner garden and outer garden was so pretty. And the religous paintings were very interesting and very big! I also spotted a cat sleeping in the grass. WORTH VISITING. And it is located just beyond the street of designer shops.
Queen T — Google review
I'm a little surprised about the bad reviews. I was totally stunned by the historic location, huge halls, stunning paintings and the museums exhibiting antique art. Definitely a must-see and offering a lot!
Samsoneur — Google review
Empty halls, empty rooms, overgrown gardens. Where is all interior? Does anybody take care of this place? There is a nice view from the terrace, but still - nothing that much better than the thousands other terraces around the island. Leaving a star for the Diefenbach gallery and the (partially) preserved church.

Villa Lysis, also known as Villa Fersen, is a stunning neoclassical villa located on the northern side of Capri. It was designed in 1905 for Count Jacques d'Adelsward-Fersen, a wealthy French poet who sought refuge on the island after facing scandals in France. The villa boasts opulent interiors, lush gardens with panoramic views, and a classical temple.
Villa Lysis in Capri is a dreamy spot with breathtaking views and a unique charm. The villa itself is steeped in history, with an eclectic style that reflects its artistic past. Walking through its rooms and gardens feels like stepping into another era. The peaceful ambiance makes it a perfect escape from the busier parts of Capri. If you’re into art, history, or just want a serene place to soak up the island’s beauty, Villa Lysis is a fantastic visit—ideally in the late afternoon for magical lighting!

Villa Lysis is breathtaking. It was worth walking 45 minutes from center of Capri. The path also is beautiful and you will see a lot of villas of local people and lots of lemon garden. When you arrive you will be surprised by the design and gardening of Villa Lysis from 1904. You can buy tickets in advance or inside of Villa.

This villa has a fantastic view to around. The garden is full of flowers and the building is open to visit. You can also go to roof of it to take photos.
Ali M — Google review
What can I say! This was one of the most beautiful spots in Capri. The sea, the view, the villa and the quietness were perfect.
Thijs — Google review
SCAM! Don't purchase your ticket until you are at the Villa Lysis. We purchased tickets on the 29th of September at 1 PM at the Giardini di Augusto ticket's office. We then walked to the Villa Lysis (40 minutes climbing), and when we arrived, it was closed. Another dozen of people were in the same case than us. We called the phone number, which was not able to provide me with any information. They just told us to go back (another 40 minutes walking) to the ticket's office where we bought the ticket for reimbursement. When arrived at the ticket's office, they told us they didn't knew about the closure, and they couldn't reimburse us the tickets. They advised us to send an email to a manager, Mrs Frederico. We did it, and two days after, still no answer or any excuse. Such a poor client service, and a scam on top of it. This deserves to be signaled to the local police to prevent others to be scammed like us.
Emeric D — Google review

Punta Carena Lighthouse, located at the southwestern tip of Capri, is a renowned landmark overseeing the Tyrrhenian Sea. The lighthouse, built in 1866, stands tall on cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the sea. Visitors can enjoy sunset views and watch boats passing by from this picturesque spot. Additionally, there's a beach restaurant called Il Faro where guests can savor cocktails and tapas while taking in the natural beauty of the bay.
Beautiful spot. Empty when we were there but early in the season and still too cold for swimming. Took bus from Anacapri - easy, every 20 minutes.

The soul of Capri at sunset There are lighthouses — and then there’s Punta Carena. Rising boldly from the cliffs of Anacapri, its red façade glowing against the Mediterranean blues, this spot is pure cinematic magic. Whether you arrive by land or sail past by boat, it catches your eye — and your breath. The view is iconic, especially at sunset, when the sky ignites and the sea turns gold. It’s not just beautiful — it’s emotionally moving. You feel like you’ve stumbled into a postcard that’s alive. The surrounding area is rugged and raw, yet welcoming, with sunbathers on the rocks and locals diving into crystalline waters. An unforgettable stop on any Capri itinerary. Bring your camera, your swimsuit — and if you can, stay for the sunset. You’ll carry it with you long after you’ve left.
SUR E — Google review
It's a beautiful spot that's conveniently located just a short bus ride from Anacapri. You'll find restaurants if you want to grab a bite, and there are good areas for swimming. A pleasant place to spend some time.

Beautiful lighthouse in Capri. From here we can see a beautiful sunset. Head down near the water where you will find 2 snack bars. There is also a viewpoint nearby.
Fábio S — Google review
If you’ve ever wondered where Poseidon might retire, it’s probably here. The Punta Carena Lighthouse looks like it came straight out of a “Dramatic Isolation” travel brochure. Towering red-and-white, built in 1866, it’s said to be one of Italy’s most important lighthouses. These days it’s more of a photogenic icon where people come to look mysteriously windswept. We saw it from a boat – perched on the cliff like a grumpy old man who's seen too much sea. A few sunbathers around, sheer rocks straight out of a spaghetti western – you half expect Morricone’s music to start playing. If you're cruising by, raise your eyes, snap a pic, and let the lighthouse (and the sun) dazzle you. :)
Michael N — Google review
Beauty on earth. This place took my heart. Felt like all the troubles of the world felt so small while standing on the edge and watching the horizon. Nothing but clear blue sky and the waves hitting the cliffs. There are restaurants and places to chill nearby where you can go to refresh yourself with local cuisines and beverages. Taking a dip in the clean blue ocean never felt this good 💛
Yamini K — Google review

Villa San Michele, located in Anacapri, is a historic villa known for its ancient art and sculptures. Once owned by Dr. Axel Munthe, the villa features a museum showcasing artifacts like a bust of Emperor Tiberius and an Egyptian Sphinx overlooking the Gulf of Naples. The surrounding gardens are filled with Mediterranean plants and offer breathtaking views of Mount Vesuvius in the distance.
Although the journey there is challenging—especially on foot—it is absolutely worth it. This local gem boasts beautiful architecture and a truly stunning, expansive garden. Building the house in that exact spot was an inspired decision, as it offers a breathtaking view all year round. It is a must-visit.

Villa San Michele is where Swedish order meets Italian beauty – with a view so stunning it might cure mild existential crises. Built in the 19th century by Swedish doctor Axel Munthe (clearly a man with a flair for the dramatic), the villa boasts ancient columns, marble sphinxes, and a panorama over the Bay of Naples that could stop time. Just be careful on the terrace – it’s not vertigo or love, it’s the uphill walk catching up with you. :)

Absolutely breathtaking art and views — definitely a must-see if you have the time. There are plenty of great shops and restaurants nearby, as well as the lift to the highest point of Capri. You can take a taxi to the square and then walk about 10 minutes to the museum, or choose to walk the full 50 minutes from Capri’s main square. Be aware, though, that the walk is quite challenging — you’ll need to climb around 986 steps to reach the museum!

Belvedere Tragara is a must-visit spot in Capri, offering one of the most stunning views on the island. The viewpoint provides an up-close look at the Faraglioni, three rocky peaks off the southeast coast. Accessible via charming narrow pathways and flanked by elegant villas, this beautiful location is less crowded than other viewpoints. The breathtaking scenery and proximity to the town center make it well worth a visit for anyone exploring Capri.
Such a breathtaking view at the end of the charming narrow pathways of Capri. Dotted with glimpses of the sea at first from houses and restaurants here and there. Belvedere Tragara is one of Capri’s most stunning viewpoints, offering a panoramic vista of the iconic Faraglioni rock formations and the deep blue Tyrrhenian Sea. Located at the end of a picturesque walkway lined with elegant villas and lush greenery, it exudes timeless charm. A peaceful spot away from the crowds, perfect for photography or quiet reflection. A must-visit for anyone exploring Capri’s natural beauty.

Definitely worth the walk over here once you're in Capri Town. Even in high season (but early in the day) it was a beautiful walk and not too crowded. Amazing views of Marina Piccola and Faraglioni.

Definitely worth a visit. There is a reasonably well marked path from the centre of Capri to the Belvedere Tragara and then you can also choose to walk onwards to the Arco Naturale before heading back to town. The whole walk incl. the Arco took us around 1.5h with a lunch break.

Lovely walk through the nicer part of town, down a flat and easily managed walkway. Several views and photo opportunities of the beautiful scenery as you go, no need to rush here..... but when you do get here.... wow.

Museo Casa Rossa di Anacapri is a unique house built by a Confederate officer in the late 1800s. The Byzantine-style mosaic and Greek inscription at the entrance add to its charm. Inside, visitors can admire early 20th-century oil paintings of Capri and Naples, as well as three statues recovered from the Blue Grotto, believed to have been placed there by Tiberius during Roman times.
Amazing interesting place to visit. They have some sculptures from the 15 meters under the sea. Beautiful view from the roof

The museum is not interesting and was a waste of time for us. The only thing of interest was a hall on the ground floor where we saw a few statues found in Blue Grotto.

Chiesa di San Michele alla Croce is a unique church located in the neighborhood of della Croce, named after the large cross that dominates the hill. Its sinuous and smooth forms make it stand out, with its original part dating back to the 12th century when it was dedicated to Santa Maria del Rifugio. The church also features exceptional designed majolica tiles and a well-kept little garden around it.

Natural Arch is a stunning arch-shaped rock formation from the Paleolithic age that overlooks the sea and can be accessed by a trail. It is located on the east coast of Capri, offering outstanding views of the impossibly blue sea.
Walking there was quite tough, but to make it easier I suggest to reach the place from Via Matermània. In this way you'll walk down many steps, which is better than climbing them. All the rest of the path (Pizzo Luongo) will be fine to walk through. The view is stunning and you will have the occasion to see the beautiful Casa Malaparte from above.

Yes, this is a superb spot on Capri, and you shouldn't miss this! To reach it from the port, you cat take the funicular, for 2.4 € and then to take a short and easy walk. At the end of the oath you will find a terrace, which you should cross and go down on the stairs. This are the beauties of the nature and we should enjoy but also protect and preserve them, so please don't leave any rubbish behind.
Anastasia G — Google review
Worth the 20-30 minute walk. We arrived earlier in day so very few people and so we could sit and take in the view. A cute walk to get to it, too. Returning to Capri though there were hoards of people headed to the arch which would make it not as enjoyable (for me, anyway!).

Chiesa di Santo Stefano is a stunning architectural gem located in the heart of Capri, making it the largest religious structure on the island. This remarkable church was built on the site of an earlier dedication to Saint Sophia and a 6th-century Benedictine monastery. With its three naves arranged in a Latin cross plan, visitors are greeted by an impressive barrel-vaulted central nave that adds to its grandeur.
Very beautiful church with very nice volunteers working there.
Jonathan M — Google review
A church resembling the one in Anacapri, with the pipe organs again behind the altar instead of some grand painting. Overall nicely kept and even though it's located next to the main square and the tram to the harbour there weren't many people inside.
Maciej P — Google review
A beautiful and discreet church so tightly squeezed between buildings that many people simply miss it. Which is actually great—it tends to stay peaceful inside. Built in the 17th century in Baroque style, it once served as the island’s cathedral and is now Capri’s main parish church. Inside, you’ll even find the tomb of the last king of Naples, who lived out his exile here.
Michael N — Google review
Beautiful, solemn, very conducive to prayer. This church is without the gilt and frescoes of other churches but is beautiful in its clean lines and simplicity. Not too big but still having a left and right wing apart from the central aisle leading to the main altar. The main entrance leads to Piazza Umberto and is right across the Municipio (town hall)

Hotel Punta Tragara is a luxurious villa property located on the southern outskirts of Capri, offering breathtaking views of Faraglioni and the sea. The hotel features 44 refined rooms with amenities such as minibars, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and marble bathrooms with Ortigia bath products. Guests can enjoy an extensive buffet breakfast overlooking the sea and savor typical Capri and Neapolitan dishes at the Monzu restaurant with its panoramic outdoor terrace.
We stayed at the hotel Punta Tragara mid July 2025 and it was an amazingly beautiful property. We had the most breathtaking view from our Deluxe sea-view room. Every morning we had complementary breakfast overlooking Capri with views of the Blue Grotto area as well. They have a Michelin star restaurant, Le Monzu, which I highly recommend and the lunch restaurant near the pool has excellent food as well. The staff were so accommodating and everything was top-notch and luxurious. If I ever went back to Capri, I would stay here again without a doubt. You cannot beat the view and the property is just gorgeous!

One of our favorite hotels on the planet! Absolutely incredible from the views to the staff. The entire hotel was spotless from head to toe. The rooms were well appointed and everything worked as it should with the best views! Staff was super friendly and helpful and the location is quiet and charming being right next to a great walking path with more awesome views! Truly an awesome place to stay!

Hotel Punta Tragara, Capri blends design heritage with understated chic of capri. While the rooms can feel on the smaller side; a nod to the property’s historic architecture as they retain an undeniable charm and sense of place. The real showstopper, however, is the pool area, which is nothing short of stunning: elegant terraces and crystalline water set against some of Capri’s most breathtaking views. A boutique stay that’s as much about atmosphere and vistas as it is about the stay. Ps. Best Olives ever at pool bar 🫒💚🤍❤️

This is truly a 5 star resort! From arrival, to the room, the amenities and the attention to detail. We could not recommend this hotel more highly. The only negative, for those with mobility issues, is the hotel is an @ 10 to 15 minute walk from the town and there is no transportation from town to get you directly to the hotel, even on arrival (though the resort did take care of the luggage). I would recommend staying here if going to Capri!!
Jimma L — Google review
Firstly, let me start by explaining that you must walk 20 minutes from the center of town to arrive at this hotel. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this “luxury” hotel room was such a disappointment I feel compelled to warn others. The photos online promised light-filled, stylish accommodations – what I walked into looked nothing like that. The room was dark, and dingy, outdated furniture that looked like it hadn’t been replaced. The lighting was so poor letting in virtually no natural light. We were brought to our room and within 10 minutes of being in the room called the front desk to let them know that the room was unacceptable and not as described. The woman said “is it because it’s too dark?” I told her the room was dark and dingy. There was a small pain window, even though this was supposed to be an ocean suite. She told me this was the last room. They had no under their abilities until our final day where they could locate the same room in a different area of the hotel. The room was not as advertised. not a luxury hotel a dark dingy room with barely a view and not somewhere I would personally want to stay in Capri for $2800 per night. We spoke with the manager who was unaccommodating and let us know He would not be refunding us, even though we would not be staying at the hotel and immediately checking out. he offered no solution. The biggest insult is the bait-and-switch advertising that bear no resemblance to reality. If you’re looking for comfort, style, or anything remotely close to luxury, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. This hotel trades on false promises and delivers a dark, dreary nightmare. What a welcome to Capri.
LA E — Google review
Had a great stay at Punta Tragara, the hotel is an iconic property on Capri, just hanging at the top of the cliff overlooking the Faraglioni and the marina piccola bay. It is a little walk from the piazzetta, however once you're settled in, the walk is part of the experience, the via tragara is caprese charm on its own. The whole team was lovely, from the lady running breakfast, to the servers at Le Monzu, a special thanks to Antonio at front desk who gave very special recommendations. The website is transparent about the views one can expect on each category and you will need to book a special suite for a guaranteed view on the Faraglioni, my room still had a lovely sea view, between the faraglioni and the marina piccola bay, the only negative was it lacked a little privacy as tourists in the belvedere were quite close, and it also lacked some soundproofing with the floor above.
Sebastien D — Google review
The best hotel in Capri. Stunning views on the Faraglioni. The pool lounge staff is exceptional, rooms are very nicely decorated and different from all the other hotels. Monzu restaurant is good and with an excellent service. The gym is a bit small but very clean and with good Tecnogym equipment

Everything was amazing in Punta Tragara. The concierge managed to get us tables in every restaurant we requested. Room view was stunning and service was on another level. The only issue is you have to walk around 1KM (15M) to get to the city or road and there isn’t any other way.

Parrocchia Maria Ss. Della Libera Chiesa Di S. Costanzo is the oldest church on the island of Capri, dating back to the 5th century. (Translated by Google) Other names Maria SS. della Libera and San Costanzo Historical News 0300 - 0400 (pre-existing first system) The precise date of construction of the church still remains an unknown, but it is one of the oldest on the island of Capri. Some historians maintain that a first structure already existed in the late 4th/5th century: the early Christian basilica with three naves was built on the remains of a Roman building from the late Republican era (as proven by the large quantity of finds dating from the 1st to the 4th century, recognized as tepidarium and calidarium) and made up of eight columns and two apses and the roof must have been made up of double-pitched wooden scaffolding. Description The small church stands along the provincial road that leads to the seaside village of Marina Grande: in the heart of the Torra or Torre district, where historians place the oldest inhabited center of Capri. The interior of the church is in the shape of a Greek cross, inserted in a square, in whose diagonals there are four chapels. Internally the chapels have a cross vault and at the meeting point of the arms with a barrel vault, resting on four raised arches, the dome opens. Externally there is a small Arab-style bell tower equipped with three bells. The church has a very simple facade.

Belvedere del Pizzolungo is a picturesque walking trail that offers breathtaking views along the coast. The path starts at Grotta di Matermania and leads to Belvedere di Tragara, ending at Faraglioni beach. The trail features Roman ruins in a cave, shady forests, and paved paths with railings for safety. While there are some steep parts with many steps, most of the route is paved and enjoyable.
It can be quite a hike biut it's worth. I suggest to start the walk from the via Matermania side, as there are close to 400 steps that I believe are better if Google downhill. The first part is in a shady forest and there are Roman Ruins in cave. Keep going down and the path, that is paved with railings, starts showing amazing views. There are up and downs and few more steps, till it ends at the Belvedere via Tragara, with best views of the Faraglioni. A stop at the small shack with drinks and lemonade is a traditionafter the walk.

Pizzolungo is an amazing walking trail that will lead you to so many spectacular views and look outs along the coast. We recommend reading some articles about the trail and roughly charting your path ahead of time - there are a few parts with quite a lot of elevation (1 point you'll encounter at least 13 storeys of stairs), but there are definitely ways to make it more leisurely. The majority of the path is paved so it's a enjoyable walk. We spent about 3 hours on the trail and brought drinks and snacks to stop and enjoy at some of the lookouts along the way.

Grotta di Matermania, also known as Grotta di Matromania, is located near the Natural Arch on Via del Pizzolungo. Even if you're not planning to walk the entire trail, it's worth making a stop at this impressive cave. If you've already walked from the Natural Arch, you can easily continue further as the steepest part of the trail is behind you.

Formerly transformed by the Romans into a sumptuous nymphaeum, this cave today has few remains of its walls. It was dedicated by the Romans to the goddess Cybele. The Matermania cave takes a semi-circular shape and extends over around thirty meters, with a maximum width of twenty meters in the center and an average height of ten meters. Grotta di Matermania, nestled along Capri’s scenic Pizzolungo trail, is a fascinating natural cave with ancient history. Once a site for Roman-era rituals, it offers a mysterious, atmospheric stop for hikers. The cavern’s impressive rock formations, lush surroundings, and proximity to the Arco Naturale make it a must-visit. While not a major tourist attraction, it’s a serene escape into Capri’s wilder side. Ideal for nature lovers and history enthusiasts.

Villa Rosa is a stunning Art Nouveau residence on the island of Capri, previously owned by English doctor Henry Thompson Green and later by Axel Munthe. It was transformed into a museum in 2024 and now showcases a permanent collection of works by Capri painter Raffaele Castello, along with pieces from other artists and photographers who found inspiration on the island. The villa has been completely renovated to house the museum, conference space, and a bistro.

A very nice location, the café/bar is very cosy, Longdrinks are great and the staff is really nice. Don’t miss it. As a plus, the concept is worth supporting: The villa is a place with interesting cultural offers and people with challenges in their lives have the opportunity to find work here. If in Anacapri, you should definitely visit!

(Translated by Google) Elegantly renovated house museum which preserves the atmosphere of the early 20th century with its delicate Art Nouveau majolica, white stucco and the pastel colors of the rooms. We visited the beautiful permanent exhibition by Raffaele Castello and the temporary one, equally interesting and worthy of a visit, entitled Atlas by the Neapolitan artist Vincenzo del Vecchio. We stopped for breakfast at the Alimenta Bistrot, which we highly recommend for the exquisite courtesy of the staff and the food and wine offerings from the Campania region, particularly the Benevento area. Heartfelt congratulations to the administration of the Municipality of Anacapri and to the "Sale della Terra" Consortium for having created this place of Excellence! Torre della Guardia is a captivating medieval watchtower perched on the southwestern coast of Capri, serving as a historical sentinel against invaders. Casa Mackenzie, located on the highest peak of Capri, was once the residence of Sir Compton Mackenzie, a flamboyant author and influential figure in Scottish politics. The house is now a museum of rural civilization and offers visitors a glimpse into the fascinating history of Capri. Visitors can immerse themselves in the island's culture and history while chatting with members of the 'Amici di Cetrella' Association who warmly welcome guests with valuable information about the area.
(Translated by Google) Visiting Casa Mackenzie was an extraordinary experience that allowed us to go back in time and immerse ourselves in the fascinating history of Capri. The welcome from the members of the "Amici di Cetrella" Association was exceptional: they welcomed us warmly, offering us water and valuable information to continue our excursion along the Passetiello. We spent almost half an hour chatting with them, learning a lot about the island's history and culture. The Museum inside the house was particularly interesting. It was fascinating to discover the details of daily life on the island and the many international guests who contributed to its history. The objects on display, belonging to popular tradition, tell stories of a past time, when modern technology had not yet arrived. Finding Casa Mackenzie was very easy thanks to the clear directions. We enthusiastically support the "Amici di Cetrella" Association and invite everyone, international and Italian tourists, to include this stop in their itinerary. Casa Mackenzie is certainly worth a visit for its historical and cultural value.

A wonderful and heartwarming experience following a PERFECT little route for SOLO TRAVELLERS and EXPLORERS of CAPRI ISLAND!! Originally I had walked down the left path from the chair lift at the top of Monte Solaro (Anacapri) to go and visit the Santa Maria A Cetrella (church) (about a 20-30 minute walk depending on your pace) and came across this wonderful small museum on the way. Although I left with a great knowledge of the place and the art produced there, I also ended up spending over 2 hours with my new friends from the volunteer association. Barbara, Gemma, Silke, and Pastor Elisa were so charming and full of life and cared for me like family. Feeding me their fresh fruit, home baked goods and even some bruschetta from their prepared lunches. Due to their vast multilingual skills as volunteers they let me talk their ears off and hear about their lives and how they got to Capri. They even invited me along to an intimate service at the Santa Maria A Cetrella which has arguably the best views of the whole island whilst also being an extraordinary 15th-16th century holy church with such history and life (and this is coming from someone who is not religious). If you are wanting to get the real feeling of Capri and Anacapri island and want away from the crowds I recommend visiting this little museum on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (when the volunteers are there until 16:00). I also recommend going to visit the Santa Sofia church benches which have wonderful artwork from Silke’s late husband/artist (near the bottom station of the chairlift). And if you have time to visit a church that Pastor Eliza is currently studying at, only 2 minutes away from Garden of Augustus called Chiesa Evangelica Tedesca. Be sure to visit this place, write your name in their visitor book and tell them that Hannah sent you ! You won’t regret it ! :)

Nestled within the historic Refectory of the Charterhouse, the Museo Diefenbach has been a captivating destination since 1974. This museum pays homage to the renowned German painter Karl Wilhelm Diefenbach, who made his way to Naples in 1900. Visitors can immerse themselves in his evocative canvases that portray a mystical and somber side of Capri, infused with elements of Nordic mythology.
Nothing particularly special to see. Some really good painting, but I don't think that is worth 10 euro entrance

Casa Malaparte is a restored Italian Modern home that now hosts cultural events. It is located on a tiny spit of land attached to the mainland of Capri, offering stunning views and a unique terracotta-colored rectangular design. The house can be spotted along the Via del Pizzolungo trail, which also features ancient sites like the Grotta di Matermania.
an architectural gem of modernist Italian architecture of the late 1930’s by Adalberto Libera worth the walk to see it!
Harry C — Google review
Casa Malaparte, perched dramatically on Capri’s cliffs, is an architectural masterpiece blending modernist design with rugged nature. Built in the 1930s for writer Curzio Malaparte, its red-brick structure and rooftop terrace offer breathtaking Mediterranean views. Isolated yet poetic, it embodies artistic solitude. Though privately owned and inaccessible to most, its cinematic presence in Contempt (1963) cements its allure. A dreamlike icon of Italian architectural history.
