Presbyterian church
South Yarra Presbyterian Church has a rich history dating back to the 19th century when Rev Dr Lang, Senior Minister, played a significant role in its establishment. The church is known for its strong sense of community and commitment to following the teachings of the Bible. Visitors have praised the warm and welcoming atmosphere as well as the powerful sermons that emphasize the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The church building itself is described as beautiful and holds a special charm for those who appreciate traditional architecture.
Discover the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with the regulars. I'm regularly here and often and current enough to know this Google maps status designation as Temporarily Closed is WRONG. Google please make amends, I've provided photos of the car park of attenders filling up Today!

Albert Park Baptist Church is a welcoming community that strives to live according to the teachings of Jesus and the Bible. The church is filled with warm and friendly individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact. It's a lovely place where good-hearted people gather to worship and praise the Lord in unity.
My experience of Albert Park baptist church is that it is authentically trying to follow Jesus and the the bible, the people are warm and welcoming. They want to make a difference.
Michele S — Google review
Albert Park Baptist Church has been part of the local landscape for a very long time. The red brick building is well maintained and it is obvious the members are proud of their property. Unfortunately, the suburb has changed and there is a lot of security which does not help create an atmosphere of friendliness.

St. Francis’ Church is a beautiful Catholic church in Victoria, built between 1841 and 1845. It is one of the oldest churches in the city, and despite its age it is very well maintained. The ambience on a Sunday night during Easter mass was peaceful and serene. Highly recommend visiting if you are ever in the area!
Very calming and gorgeous church. Simply love going to old churches for mass, the atmosphere and positive vibes are just different. A Christmas vigil mass to remember forever!

Visiting St. Francis Church in Melbourne is a unique experience, as the historic church boasts stunning architecture, serene atmosphere, and rich history dating back to the mid-1800s. From the intricate stained glass windows to the ornate altar, every corner exudes a sense of tranquility and spirituality. The church also serves as a hub for various cultural events and religious ceremonies, offering visitors a glimpse into Melbourne's diverse community and heritage. Overall, a trip to St. Francis Church promises to be both enlightening and captivating for anyone seeking solace and inspiration in the heart of the city. 🤍

This is one of the best churches I've ever visited. It's a must visit for every Christian. There's a beautiful statue of Our Lady and Baby Jesus in white marble, which is miraculous and magnificent. They have a wonderful choir for their Sunday Mass. You could feel the holiness from the moment you put your foot into this special place of worship. I've been granted a lot of my Petitions placed at the feet of Our Blessed Mother Mary. I'm sure if you pray with faith at this statue, surely in time your wish would be granted.

Blessed to attend Eucharistic celebrations here in the heart of Melbourne CBD They have multiple mass timings four times a day on weekdays Such a peaceful sacred space for people on the go.

First ever Catholic Church I visited in Melbourne. Ambiance is peaceful even though it’s located in the center of the City. A church that you might want to visit when you’re in town. There is Catholic Book Shop just next to the church.

Scots’ Church Melbourne is a stunning venue for a wedding ceremony, with its classic and elegant setting providing the perfect backdrop. The soft and warm lighting inside creates a truly magical atmosphere, complemented by the high ceiling that adds to the charm of exchanging vows. Located on the corner of Russell Street and Collins Street, this church boasts beautiful stained glass windows, a grand pipe organ, and welcoming staff. It's an extremely photogenic location where visitors are encouraged to take photos.
I came here just out of curiosity, because the outside caught my attention, the gentleman that was inside called me over and told me that I could get in, he was very lovely and super nice. When I got inside I was mesmerized by everything, I was admiring the whole place and was amazed by the history and how long that was able to survive especially in the Centre of Melbourne. Great place to visit if you love architecture and history.
Karine S — Google review
I stumbled upon this beautiful church while walking through the neighborhood. As I was looking at the outside of it and approaching the entrance, a gentleman inside called to me and welcomed me and let me know I was also free to take photos. How nice! I didn’t take very many photos, but I did spend a few moments sitting in there quietly reflecting upon life and looking at the beautiful surroundings. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

⛪ Scots’ Church Melbourne is a beautiful heritage-listed Presbyterian church located right in the heart of the city on Collins Street. Known for its stunning Gothic Revival architecture and peaceful atmosphere, it’s a great location to attend mass or simply admire the timeless design. Its central location makes it easily accessible, and the intricate details inside and out make it one of Melbourne’s most iconic historic landmarks.
Min M — Google review
I have nothing but incredible things to say about Wendy, who manages the admin at Scots Church. She was absolutely phenomenal to work with — so responsive, accommodating, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire process of planning a wedding for my interstate couple. Wendy answered every question my couple had, ensured they were able to have their rehearsal at the church, and on the wedding day itself, the staff on site were equally welcoming, helpful, and excited for our couple. The ceremony at Scots Church was beautiful, but what truly stood out to me was Wendy’s professionalism and warmth. In my experience, planning church ceremonies can often involve chasing responses, getting short or vague replies, and having to follow up repeatedly for clear information. With Wendy, it was the complete opposite — she made the process seamless, informative, and such a pleasure. This is actually the first time I’ve felt compelled to leave a Google review for a church, and it’s entirely because of how exceptional Wendy was to work with. Thank you so much, Wendy — you really are a credit to Scots Church. I look forward to working with you again in the future, and keep up the incredible work you and your team do for couples. — Gee from Gee What a Wedding – Wedding Planners

Scots' Church in Melbourne is a stalwart example of a Reformed, Protestant, and Evangelical congregation. Its commitment to the core principles of these traditions is evident in its vibrant worship, solid biblical teaching, and active engagement in community outreach. The church's historical significance adds depth to its identity, making it a beacon of faith in the heart of Melbourne.

Beautiful church on the corner of Russell street and Collins street. Just cab across it while walking down on Russell street. It’s free to visit and explore. Beautiful stained glass windows at the back and the side. Also have a grand pipe organ. The gentleman at the church was very humble and welcoming!

What a beautiful setting for a wedding ceremony! As a wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of shooting wedding ceremonies at many churches, but this one definitely stood out! Being both classic and elegant, this gives the perfect backdrop and what's more important is the lighting inside that is super soft and warm! The atmosphere inside is truly magical with high ceiling, making it the perfect spot for the exchange of vows for any soon to be married couple :) This is the one for you. I highly recommend it!

Nestled amidst the towering skyscrapers of Melbourne, the Wesley Uniting Church stands as a stunning example of Gothic architecture. Its cross-shaped design and striking bluestone façade create a captivating contrast against the modern cityscape. This historic church, central to the Wesleyan movement in Victoria and named after its founder John Wesley, boasts an impressive pipe organ—reportedly the first in Melbourne. Visitors are often welcomed by friendly staff who share insights about its beautiful stained glass windows and rich history.
Such a beautiful and historic church. As soon as I went in I was greeted with lovely people who knew a lot about religion and the building. I was then given information about the stained windows. When I left I was so happy and felt so loved, would absolutely recommend. Thank you so much for the lovely experience!!
Mia — Google review
Interesting church centred within modern skyscrapers in Melbourne. There's a brief tour to do around the church with some information on plaques. Church is quite surreal in its location, and is also very pretty inside. When we popped-in for a brief look, the staff were really friendly and polite too.
Kerbray — Google review
High order amongst the high-rise. Walking up Lonsdale Street as opposed to driving, I couldn’t help but really appreciate the neo-gothic bluestone Wesley Uniting Church being dwarfed by the city skyscrapers beside it. I took the opportunity to call in and have a look. This was the central church to the Wesleyan movement in Victoria, named after John Wesley. (1703-1791) The Church pipe organ was apparently the first in Melbourne. An organ recital on the day I was there was free. John Wesley’s statue stands guardian not far from the entrance of the church. The sympathetic restoration works in 2020 has made this Church and surrounds just an architectural standout….. Well worth a stop!
Greg H — Google review
Very dour but great looking church, if that makes sense, with statue of namesake, John Wesley, out front. Another example of interesting architecture in Melbourne
Sam K — Google review

Great church! Gentle and faithful. Thank you pastor for reminding me to continue praying. I met God there , God reminded me that he is in control!
Hannah H — Google review
Church hosted satanic ritual worship. Man dressed as Satan was above alter playing music while women dresses as Virgin Mary was on alter below crucifix getting a tattoo. Sickening and this was approved by the church leaders. I entered because I thought it was a mass to have my children being confronted by half naked women and cross dressers. They are traumatised.

Great LGBTIQ friendly church who honestly endeavor to be welcoming to everyone. They don't try to change you at all, just a welcoming atmosphere. Their style of service is pretty calming and peaceful, if that's what you like.

Great little theatre with a big heart. Saw one play here and because it was so good, I booked another. Now I find I'm hooked and subscribe to their mailing list. Pricing is so competitive it's ridiculous to even consider seeing a movie instead of an emotional live theatre performance.

Although I grew up in the church and faith in America, 8 years in Melbourne and having attended many different churches, I’d not found a church that I connected with. From my first Sunday Service to now many months on, I’m blessed to say I’ve found my home. Life is the greatest community full of diverse backgrounds but deeply rooted in authentic and wholesome love for the lord filled with the Holy Spirit. Couldn’t recommend it more 🙌

Thanks for sharing some kindness with me. When i attended the nearby Primary School, we did a performance in this building (i'm not sure if to consider it a Church because i was told that the people are the Church and not so much the building, i am unsure about that), and i played the role of the drummer boy alongside the Christmas song, wearing green tights, and i think holding a small drum but struggled to remember (but am sure about the green tights!). Regarding of these Psalm scores, and of small comment at the bottom of page 220: i wrote some of my life observations on the pages, thoughts that were to somehow more precious to me - i don't talk with many people and often feeling lonely, but as for portrayals of these songs (as it were without words, because also i had found it difficult to select the perfect language to dedicate, so the idea was that in such attempts, the tones could remind one of the meaning of the text, irregardless of one's spoken language), the scores / notes are attempt at the word-painting of corresponding verses. Verse XC is an exception of having multiple voices in this part of this Psalm, corresponding to the text, of this likeness of a piano concerto supposedly for one voice, but with a trap. i am sorry if there are any mistakes that i failed to notice. Have a good day.

Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, located in the serene Middle Park, boasts a stunning interior with beautiful artwork above the altar and high-arched ceilings that create an ethereal atmosphere. The church is known for its Carmelite priests who conduct Mass and the nearby Carmelite convent where nuns from the order reside and pray. Visitors have praised the church's architecture and ambiance, making it a solemn and welcoming place of worship.
Beautiful interior artwork above the altar here, and the high-arched ceilings which makes things look ethereal inside. The side Our Lady chapel stunning too. This church is situated in quiet tree-lined Middle Park. Mass here is taken by the Carmelite priests who wear the brown vestments, and the nuns from this order live and pray at the Carmelite convent situated in Kew, Victoria - another great place to visit. Love the mini shrine of well-known Carmelite Saint inside - St Therese of Lisieux; and seeing all the petition papers full of prayers asking her intercession.
Emily C — Google review
A place of mockery. We just had to walk out of Easter Sunday Mass as it was so blasphemous, the priest behaving like a cheap taudry theatre performer. Pope Pius XI rightly called such men the biggest traitors and enemies to Christ, because they destroy the Church from inside the sanctuary. If you are serious about your Catholic faith, avoid this place. If you want to fulfill your Sunday Catholic obligation respectfully, avoid this place. If you are a non believer, seeking Christ, the Church, the Catholic Mass and serious effective, humble priest's, avoid this place. If you want to save your soul, avoid this place. Today, Holy Mass was reduced to a scandalous and shameful clown show. Today, the day of our Lord's resurrection, the holy was mocked and dispariged by the men of this place.

The Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania boasts a charming building that was constructed in 1909, originally designed by W. Meekison, who also served as the first Pastor. This inviting structure features a straightforward red brick design with three bays—later expanded to five—each adorned with elegant Gothic-style windows. Conveniently located with ample parking, it offers a warm atmosphere complemented by friendly staff, making it an ideal spot for community gatherings and worship.
Lovely staff and positive environment.

Christ Church, located in Melbourne, is a 160-year-old sandstone gothic church and the seat of the Anglican Primate of Australia. It's a stunning architectural marvel that captivates visitors with its grandeur both inside and out. The church offers peaceful remembrance seating areas and also provides emergency assistance including fresh food and free dinners on specific days. The beautiful stained glass windows add to the serene atmosphere, making it an ideal place for reflection during the day.
Beautiful old church with peaceful remembrance seating area...emergency assistance including fresh food and free dinners on Mon and Thurs out the back in a separate building on the rhs, same block...Bread out the front on Acland St plus a food cupboard as you pass by...There are always groups of dog owners socialising on the lawn at the back...The staff there are always warm, friendly, non-judgemental and help all they can!

This old church still caries alot of history on this site and great old architecture to view

Amazingly beautiful Church. I have visited churches, chapels and cathedrals all over the world and this is definitely one of the most beautiful. The stained glass windows are wonderful. During the day it is peaceful and the atmosphere invites reflection. The community center, which is located right next door to the Church is an excellent place to meet with other members of the church and spread love.

This was yesterday when we walking around #5km in the St Kilda area. The goal was to get coffee from Monarch, but then we just found a beautiful Anglican Church in that area. I loved how spring in Melbourne can be so colourful, but to be honest, it is still cold for both of us.
Fransiska W — Google review
Beautiful old church with a full size organ that was renovated just a few years back. The parish offers a range of services. One of those is a community hall that has 2 rooms and a large kitchen serving the various programs available. They help the needy. Also a community garden out back where they grow plants to raise funds. There is small playground attached to the side of the church.

Well presented and elegant I'm renewing on the 31st off July my baptism vows if you come along and take photos feel free to add them.

When traveling, it is essential for Catholic individuals to locate a church to attend Sunday masses. While staying in the St. Kilda area of Melbourne, I discovered Sacred Heart Catholic Church, which warmly welcomes and includes everyone. The celebration takes place at 11AM every Sunday. Adjacent to the church, there is a spacious room where breakfast and lunches are served, accompanied by a small choir during the service. This impressive and pleasant location offers an excellent religious experience.
As a Catholic, whenever I travel, finding a church to attend Sunday masses is one of the important part. I stayed at St. Kilda area during my vacation to Melbourne and found this church that is very welcoming and open for everyone. Mass is at 11AM every Sunday.

Beautiful acoustics, love the congregation and the pastor is so relatable and calm. The choir are amazing and the man playing the piano is unbelievably good.

This Church is truly an example of a Catholic Church at work. The Church Building itself is a architectural masterpiece and alone is a must to see if visiting Melbourne. Helping and feeding the poor is just a normal part of the day to day life at the Sacred Heart, St Kilda. I would strongly recommend visitors to Melbourne come to mass at 11am any Sunday. It does not matter who or what You are, You will all made welcome to this Church. After mass have a cuppa and look around the Sacred Heart Mission. The people who attend the mission for Support are helped in many ways and there are about 500 meals served daily (7 days a week) There is an Op Shop next to the Church which is open Sunday's and is a great opportunity to pick up a bargain and also a nice way to donate to the Mission. St Kilda is an enigmatic place full of life that keeps us returning time and time again. Spend some time just walking the streets and beaches and enjoy being part of it all. Trams from Melbourne CBD are plentiful. A GREAT WAY TO SPEND A SUNDAY.

It was very long time since I've been to this place here, only twice in my lifetime. The first is that I might of been baptised here but I really don't know enough and the second was in 1995 where my my grandmothers funeral was held to now via a boxing day mass. A lot of mixed emotions ran through my mind some comforting some not. But it took me out of space though that's for sure. It sure does look nicer than the interior of St. Columbus which the head priest also holds masses in as well. Sacred Heart is in a rougher neighbourhood than say the more pleasant Elwood but the interior is like a mini version off St. Francis in the city while maintaining it's own unique look (I'm sure the inside looks great and cosy during Winter). The toilet is better placed as well while being discrete (S.C. took decades to finally get a decent toilet) and the surroundings look more interest to look. While dealing with my past here, I found myself more curious as well. Nice church but you'd better watch your back as after especially in the after hours....

Church
All Saints' East St Kilda is a welcoming community with approachable and nurturing pastors. The church offers beautiful liturgy grounded in the Word of God, along with awesome adult and children's choirs providing amazing music. It provides a space for worshiping in spirit and truth at a whole new level, echoing the sentiment that hearts are restless until they find rest in the divine.
I haven't been there yet, although I travel past very often, and look at it's beauty and dream of visiting. But I've been under the impression that it was closed 🔒... Now I have looked into it, I will definitely be there, Next weekend... Desperately want some holy water 💦 also, to spread it in my home.... Can't wait to see the beauty of the Gothic style inside.. Be there for prayer 🙏 soon. Amen 🙏.. Dale Watson ❤️😇🙏

Welcoming Community, very approachable and nurturing Pastors, beautiful liturgy grounded in the Word of God. Awesome Adult and Children’s Choirs and amazing music! A Church where i can Worship in Spirit and in Truth at a whole new level; and with St Augustine I can say : “Our hearts are restless O Lord, until they find rest in you.”

(Was really surprised to read the review by STIKAA muTT but notice that his condemnation of Bird Watching Society has some similar features). My experience has been quite different; welcoming from first visit and Vicar on each occasion approachable and respectful to all. Music Director, currently John O'Donnell, exceptional as might be expected from a keyboard player of renown ( particularly in works by Bach).
Jane S — Google review
A very ornate church building. Extremely traditional service which was alienating. Not my style at all. Too much human pomp and glory rather than grace and love from Jesus.

The Anglican Parish of Balaclava and Elwood is a charming and historic church located just 8 kilometers from Melbourne's bustling central business district. Nestled in an area rich with history, this beautiful building exudes warmth and hospitality, making it a welcoming space for all. Visitors often praise the genuine kindness of its community, particularly highlighting the supportive nature of Reverend Kathryn Watt during significant life events like funerals. The parish also boasts lovely gardens that are continually growing, adding to its serene atmosphere.
I want to thank Reverend Kathryn Watt for her support and sensitivity at the funeral service she lead for us recently. It was a lovely service, we were grateful to her for her suggestions and the ease she provided in getting us through this sad time.

Catholic church
The Catholic Parish of Sacred Heart & St Columba offers a charming experience steeped in tradition. Recently, I had the delightful opportunity to attend a Holy Mass celebrated by the Bishop, which was particularly special as many young individuals were receiving their confirmation. This historic church, with its classic architecture and an adjoining school, exudes warmth and community spirit. It's evident that this parish has been well-maintained over the years, making it a lovely destination for both worshippers and visitors alike.

(Translated by Google) I was there last night for the first time and to my great surprise, I had the pleasure of attending the Holy Mass celebrated by the Bishop given that there were many young people being confirmed. The atmosphere was beautiful and jovial, in fact I also found a couple who sat next to me (husband and wife) very kind and helpful, given that at the end of Mass, having run out of battery, I had the problem of how to get home, given that I always use the navigator to go out, so the lady allowed me to call my daughter who arrived 5 minutes later to take me home.
