Turoe Pet Farm, located near Loughrea just off the M6 Dublin-Galway motorway, offers a variety of activities for families and friends. Visitors can explore the bird aviary, pet corner with cuddly rabbits, and a play area with a sand pit. The farm features walking trails where guests can interact with pigs, ponies, cows, donkeys, goats, and sheep.
Excellent place to keep the kids entertained. The indoor part is suitable for all weather. Cafe and decent toilet facilities. Outdoor picnic benches. Great for kids parties. As an adult I'd probably eat before I go next time as the food isn't great quality.

Brilliant, hands down a class act! 3 playgrounds including a huge indoor inflatable city. Animals are kept in cages but are still easy to feed!
Fearghal M — Google review
They really nice playground area, the bounce slides is the best for kids i really recommend this place for kids and parents, The price what you pay have 3hr off freedom
Kaz S — Google review
The best petting farm we’ve been to! Huge space. Our two young kids could happily spend hours there, with so much to entertain them. They loved being able to feed the animals, the sand pit was a big hit, our toddler even loved wandering about the football pitch. The highlight was the inflatable city area though. As parents, we found the organization of the play areas really good and the staff did an excellent job. One small comment would be that some older children were in the toddler area and were a bit rough for the smaller kids. But that’s just one of those things that happens in every play centre. Keep up the good work!
Sinead D — Google review
Excellent place to bring kids. Massive indoor bouncy castle. We went on a good day. (Not raining) had a time limit on the indoor area (wristbands on the kids) but could easily spend time outside, no limit there. Spent a good four hours here. Definitely go back.

Super nice with children any age and no matter If it s quick stop or you are planning for a longer stay. We ll definetly be back!
Tanja P — Google review
Fantastic first visit to Turroe on a cold showery day in Nov! 5 children aged 1-5 in our group and they all had a ball, adults included! Well organised clean set up, friendly staff, only indoor areas limited to 3hrs which is LOADS for them and then back out to say goodbye to the animals and another run around the playground. Food choice somewhat limited, nice coffee and they kindly let you bring snacks etc and eat in the spacious indoor seating area. Clean indoor play areas, staff on duty, age appropriate spaces and spacious clean toilets. Great value for money. Can’t recommend more for a day out - whatever the weather. Planning our next visit already.
Dee G — Google review
We recently visited Turoe Pet Farm in Loughrea and had an amazing time! This is a perfect spot for families with young kids—there’s so much to see and do. The petting zoo was a big hit, with friendly goats, sheep, rabbits, and even alpacas. Our little ones loved feeding the animals and getting up close with them. The playground area is fantastic, with plenty of space for kids to run around, and the indoor play barn is great if the weather isn’t cooperating. The staff were lovely—really welcoming and helpful. The facilities were clean, and there’s a nice café with good coffee and snacks . Overall, Turoe Pet Farm is a wonderful place for a family day out. Highly recommend for anyone with young children—we’ll definitely be back!

Wildlands in Moycullen is an activity center that offers a variety of thrilling indoor and outdoor activities suitable for all ages. The center features climbing walls for kids and teens to conquer their fears and test their strength, as well as 24 Celtic Challenge Rooms for group problem-solving fun. Additionally, visitors can enjoy recreational sports like Zip n Trek, Archery, Disc Golf, and more in the expansive 20-acre woodland overlooking Ballyquirke Lake.
We just completed a day in Wildlands and I have to say it was fantastic. We were on holidays in the city and someone suggested we do an activity. Just outside the city and well signposted. We signed up for the wall climbing with an 9 and 6 year old. It was excellent, our 6 year old was reluctant at the start but a member of staff gave her so much time and got her to follow her around. Eventually she was climbing and had a blast. We also had a 4 year old who loved the fairy trail and the playgrounds. All in we had a lovely few hours here, will visit again and thanks to the great staff on the climbing wall they were so patient and great with the kids.

Lovely facility and peaceful place. Cabins are comfortable and well equipped. Just a shame that there's no discounted rate for residents for any of the activities while they're staying. It makes the activities poor value as you already have access to the playground, disc golf etc and yet you've to pay full price to go on the bounce nets.

Brought my 11 year old sona md his friend for Zip n Trek. Had a great time, staff were really friendly and helpful. Very safe and clean. Would recommend
Tara C — Google review
Nice place, but it's hard to give 5 stars when you're not fully satisfied. The prices are insanely high, and the restrictions are so senseless it's honestly frustrating... My kids went to the ropes park and only used it for 10 minutes before it started pouring so heavily that they could barely see anything. One of the staff members was really kind and offered us to exchange the attraction for something indoors since it was impossible to do anything outside... Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible – or rather, it was possible, but only for an extra fee. So we literally threw money down the drain on an attraction that lasted under 10 minutes... I really don’t understand why we couldn’t switch to something else, especially when it clearly wasn’t crowded at the time? The reception staff was unfriendly, rolling their eyes the moment you weren’t looking... Also, another thing – if someone is paying that much money for a cabin, why aren’t the attractions included in the package? Or at least offered with a bigger discount? Honestly, it was a disappointment... The older girls were really let down. The only plus was that our youngest – 20 months old – had her moment and had fun.
Kamila O — Google review
Cabin - Amazing Staff very good. Zipline - one of the best we have been to. Ninja course - good laugh with the family. Should be a discount on activities when staying - very expensive after paying nearly 800e for a 2 night stay, would be a nice touch and encourage more ppl to stay, especially when there is onlt 14 lodges and so many come in from outside to avail of activities.

We recently held our corporate team event at Wildlands in Moycullen and had an absolutely brilliant experience. The event room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully set up with thoughtful table décor and designated areas for coats and bags. The projector worked perfectly, making our presentations seamless. Lunch at the Olive Tree Kitchen was a highlight — we enjoyed a delicious variety of food including pizzas, burgers, and goujons. The team was incredibly accommodating with dietary needs, offering great vegan and vegetarian options. In the afternoon, we split into three groups for activities: the Ninja Course, Escape Rooms, and Zip ‘n’ Track. Despite the rainy weather, the atmosphere was upbeat and energetic. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and professional. We were well looked after throughout the day, with plenty of coffee and refreshments available. A special shoutout to James, our event organiser, who was fantastic in coordinating everything to suit our needs. His support made the day run smoothly from start to finish. Highly recommend Wildlands for any corporate or team-building event — great facilities, amazing staff, and a truly memorable experience!

Our family stayed in the cabin no 7 last week on first impression we thought it was fantastic but we soon reliased we had more than us staying in the cabin. The place was crawling with spiders i counted around 15 which i had no choice to kill then with my shoe. My kids couldn’t sleep most of the night because they were afraid that one would be in the bed. My wife did say it to the girl when checking out but she just didn’t care enough. Pity that because we did enjoy the park. The prices are very high for food and activities and most of the staff are lovely. Fintan you can contact me by email .I have no missed calls on my phone so you might have the wrong number.

My daughter visited today and was treated very badly at reception my daughter is autistic and asked one to explain proper before going on zip it and they did not explain. She then returned to the desk and said she isn’t going to do the activity anymore she didn’t even go on it she just seen and saw it was to high so backed out of it, she was laughed at saying what u want us to do. They handled the situation very badly

The award-winning Garden Cafe serves high-quality homemade food, including options for kids, and provides a relaxing dining space overlooking the garden or al fresco dining on the patio. Families can also enjoy a play area with toys and books in the cafe. The gardens feature perennial trees, nature trails, a calendar sundial, a lake, and a fairy fort.
Better than expected! A paradise full of magic and also Celtic traditions! Their coffee place and shop are also special! Good vibes only! Last but not least, it's a non profitable organisation!

Beautiful and magical place for kids and family. Not huge but decent amount of walks and interesting stuff. Well recommended
Tomas — Google review
Bridget’s Garden and Café is a beautiful, peaceful place to visit, with 11 acres of varied and interesting gardens to explore. The café is lovely, the facilities are good, and parking is decent. I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely return. Just two things to keep in mind: when I visited on a weekday, there were several school groups enjoying the gardens, which did mean a fair amount of noise throughout. Also, at peak lunchtime, the café struggled a bit with the volume of customers. The food looked and smelled fantastic, but the waiting time in the queue was long and things appeared quite disorganised. The hardworking staff were doing their best, but a little more behind-the-scenes organisation would make a big difference. Entry is €11 and well worth it overall. I look forward to visiting again!

It was a peaceful moment. The people were very kind, and the food was tasty. It's objectively a good spot and I highly recommend it.

The park features a wide array of animals to interact with, including pigs, ponies, cows, alpacas, and more. Additionally, visitors can enjoy various activities such as bouncy castles, obstacle courses, play villages, sand dunes with slides and diggers.
Fantastic Family Day at Loughwell Farm Park! We visited Loughwell Farm Park in Moycullen yesterday for the pumpkin patch event and had an absolutely wonderful time! It’s the perfect place for families, especially with young children. Our little daughter had a blast exploring the farm and picking her own pumpkin. The variety of activities available kept her entertained the entire time – from the farm animals to the playgrounds and tractor rides, there was so much to do! The staff were incredibly friendly, and the whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It’s clear that the park is well-maintained, and safety measures are in place, which gave us peace of mind. There was plenty of space to move around and enjoy the outdoors. We highly recommend Loughwell Farm Park to anyone looking for a fun and wholesome family day out. We’ll definitely be back!

This was my first visit to Loughwell for the pumpkin patch experience! I couldn’t get over how beautiful the facilities are and the staff are so so friendly and they genuinely are happy to see the kids! The play centre is the best I’ve visited and let’s just say my 4 year old will be having his birthday there next year! Very clean, well ran and gorgeous animals the perfect weekend out for families ❤️

Spent the day here with 2 boys aged 10 &14. We had a great day. Plenty to do. Boys enjoyed the sand pits, bubble show, swings and penalty shoot out. We had a picnic here so can't comment on the food. The tube by go karts would make a great slide if placed on slightly raised ground. Animals are well cared for and friendly. Plenty parking. Toilet clean.

Loughwell farm park caters for all ages, Had a fantastic visit in which the staff were all welcoming and really friendly, the place was kept to the highest standard and all facilities were immaculate, There’s lots to do outdoors like the bubble show and barrel train and the same indoors as the play village and slides provide great entertainment for all, The animals are well looked after and very happy in their loving environment. Can’t recommend this place enough, absolutely fantastic.

Galway Atlantaquaria, also known as the National Aquarium of Ireland, is a popular attraction that showcases native Irish sealife. Visitors can enjoy fish feeding sessions and interact with touch pools. The aquarium offers informative displays, live presentations, and animal interaction sessions. Additionally, there's a pet farm featuring ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep, Larry the Lama and Curley the Alpaca. A nature trail provides a tranquil setting with fresh country air and birdsongs.
Absolutely amazing. We had a 2 year old, 5 and 6 year old. The place was magic, lovely staff, excellent installations. We went 1.5 hours out of our way to stop here on route to Kerry and went to the coffee shop beside it. A fabulous stopover, will visit again!

Amazing place for kids. My toddler had a wonderful day at the aquarium. Its not very far from the center. You can walk or take a bus to the location. It is located at such a beautiful place, just across the vast ocean 😍

Absolutely loved this experience ❤️ I could of spent all day here! The fish were very active, the staff were nice and welcoming. My little boy got frightened by the loud noise at the entrance and was crying and a staff member appeared with ear defenders and stickers and saved the day. We really enjoyed feeding times and the information. The tanks are immaculate ✨️ The octopus 🐙 was very entertaining i recommend spending sometime watching it show off I wish I had asked its name!!

Tickets are cheaper when purchased online beforehand. Staff was very helpful, and aquarium was super clean. Fish looked so happy, I wish there were some octopus or squid however.

Great for family kids were excited. Place could be upgraded but generally its interesting. Gift shop with very poor stock, possibly because of Sunday, but still not great. Big car park beside. Place to eat something beside i recommend supermacks about 300m away. There is in this building too but crowded and various quality
Janusz L — Google review
Huge ray/ shark/ flat fish tank! Highly recommend for parents of tiny humans! Our son was screaming and tired before we entered, he calmed right down watching the fishies, stayed in the stroller the whole time and was able to see so many aquatic animals from his level. Octopus tank was awesome, price was right, and the whole aquarium was a good size for little ones, not too overwhelming.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Galway’s Aquarium offers a pleasant and educational marine experience, making for a perfect family outing. While the collection features a respectable variety of species and animals, the true highlight of the visit is the series of talks and demonstrations offered by the passionate local experts on staff. Getting to see how different animals react to being fed and learning about their unique behaviors firsthand is a fantastic, engaging experience that captivates both children and adults alike, adding a memorable, interactive layer to the visit. From a practical standpoint, the aquarium is very accessible, offering the convenience of free on-site parking, which is a significant plus, though it’s worth noting that the spaces are limited. While it may not be the kind of vast attraction that requires a return visit the next day, it provides a thoroughly enjoyable and well-rounded experience.

National park
Connemara National Park covers around 7,000 acres of diverse landscapes including mountains, bogs, heaths, and grasslands. The park offers scenic walking trails and the chance to spot wildlife. Nearby attractions include Leenane, a picturesque village nestled between mountains and the shore of Killary Harbour fjord. Inland from there lies Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey with its Victorian walled gardens.
The car parking is pretty spacious, if the designated parking is full, then the cars can be safely parked along the road side. It's free car parking. At the base of the hiking, there are clean toilets, tea rooms, a good eatery where refreshments, coffee, tea, ice cream are sold, the staffs are wonderful. We chose the longer hiking loop, which was about 4 kms, but had to abandon the last leg of it due to unsafe climatic conditions. E The hiking experience was pretty good. Better to have hiking gear including hiking shoes and support if possible. Overall, a great experience. Would love to visit again.
Pavan R — Google review
The Connemara trek was absolutely beautiful. At the base, there's a café where you can grab a snack, and toilets are available as well. The trail starts off flat and gradually becomes steeper as you approach the Upper Diamond, but overall it's not a difficult trek. The views are stunning, with the Atlantic Ocean in the distance and a refreshing cold breeze throughout. There are clear signboards and well-maintained steps along the way. Everything is well organized—perfect for a scenic and enjoyable hike. Everyone loves the hike...
S G — Google review
The red loop that brings you to the top of the mountain had a lot(mainly 90%) of stone stair but easily doable for most people that hike a least 2-3 time a year. It is a beautiful hike of around 6.5km. Lot of wind of top of it, bring good equipment if you can't handle cold. It says to not do it on bad weather, but if you're an avid hiker, it won't be a problem, simply be careful not to lose for on the stone, it could get slippery. Clean site, beautiful place.
Philippe M — Google review
Beautiful national park! They have a visitor center offering information, parking, toilets, and areas for eating—all for free. The different hiking paths are well marked, with options for all levels, from easy to hard.
Brenda M — Google review
A great National Park with a good visitor centre with a large free car park on the outskirts of Letterfrack. Varied scenery from coast to mountains, a marked "mountain" trail up Diamond Hill from the visitor centre. Many historic sites, famine villages, holy wells, prehistoric forts, and such like, within the park. Visitor centre has cafe and toilets. Can be very busy in season.
Geoff B — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous! Don't miss the upper Diamond Hill Trail loop if you're able. We were all alone except for a few sheep. The views are incredible and just get better and better as you go.
Kate K — Google review
Definitely do the Diamond hill walk in Letterfrack. I'd say medium grade walk but you can see most of it from the village so you can make up you own mind. Great local pubs immediately at the bottom to eat and drink.

Nestled in the Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden is a picturesque Gothic Benedictine nunnery with restored Victorian rooms and free garden tours. Originally constructed as a castle in 1868, it became the residence of Benedictine nuns in 1920 after their abbey in Ypres, Belgium was destroyed during World War I. The nuns have since restored the buildings and developed the surrounding areas into a stunning tourist attraction.
This is truly a wonderful place to visit. The staff are lovely and very helpful. It is a beautiful, calm and has a relaxed feel. The way the Abbey is set out with information, is very easy to negotiate and read, and although it contains a lot of information, it is wonderfully executed to keep you engaged in every room. The gardens are exceptional, the food was fabulous and the Connemara ponies were clearly very happy! Overall it was a terrific experience.

Our day trip to Kylemore Abbey and Gardens has been one of the highlights of our UK tour. The weather was perfect and the drive from Galway to Kylemore on the N59 was a treat. Lough Inagh on the way was one of the prettiest and spectacular views we have seen anywhere. The Abbey and Lake setting is superb. The whole story behind the building of the Abbey until present is interesting, sad and inspiring. The Gardens are a highlight. It is a really well run visitor experience.

Absolutely stunning Abby as well as fantastic example of an extremely large fully walled English garden. We appreciate that there was a shuttle bus taking people from the ticket area all the way to the English gardens. Walking here was absolutely stunning. We had a fantastic lunch inside their cafeteria style food service area. The prices for the food were very reasonable and everything we had was excellent. The historical tour inside the Abbey was also noteworthy.

Small self guided tour through a very well put together downstairs museum. The upstairs display area is very disconnected and feels super random. The grounds are gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful setting right on the lake. Parking is very easy, there is a wonderful cafe at the bottom and another near the gardens. Highly recommend visiting this castle, and the drive out is STUNNING!

This is a gorgeous place and so much history. The walled gardens are pretty much done for the year, being October, but imagine they are spectacular in summer. It's still worth the visit, even late in the season.

We visited Kylemore Abbey on a rainy day — and although the skies were grey, the atmosphere was magical, and we ended up spending a full 2-3 hours exploring the estate. The moment you arrive you sense you’re in somewhere timeless: a grand castle-turned-abbey set amidst the wild Connemara landscape. What stood out for us: the Victorian Walled Garden (about 6 acres), originally created in the late 1800s by Mitchell Henry in loving tribute to his wife, and painstakingly restored from the 1990s onward. You stroll through the formal flower beds, herb & vegetable plots, old glass-houses, and fruit trees — all within high brick and granite walls. We also took the shuttle bus from the visitor centre to the gardens (this runs regularly) and found it very convenient. The estate features peaceful woodland & lakeside walks, a café where you can pause for tea and scones, and a craft shop showcasing local treasures. Inside the abbey itself, you learn about the castle’s origins, the story of the Henry family, the later arrival of the Benedictine nuns in 1920, and how the estate evolved through time. Highlights include the charming neo-Gothic church (built in memory of Margaret Henry) and the family mausoleum — small but deeply atmospheric. Even in the rain, the reflections of the castle in the lake, the misty hills behind it, and the rich gardens made the visit unforgettable. I’d heartily recommend bundling up and giving yourself enough time to wander gently, perhaps linger in the tea house and enjoy the quiet. A beautiful blend of nature, history and calm that stays with you long after you leave.

One of the most stunning places we visited on our 1000+ mile Irish road trip. The story of this place is part of what makes it special so I'd encourage enought time for that. But the grounds are enormous. They have walking paths, gardens, and so so much to explore. We spent 4 hours here. The gift shop is one of the better ones, it carries hand crafted items from the Nuns. The restaurant is cafeteria style, but honestly, some of the better food we had on our trip. The landscape on your way here is also breathtaking. We saw the Fjords on our way north. One of our must sees for sure.

Kylemoore Abbey & Victorian Walled Gardens were beautiful. Situated between majestic mountains you can see mini waterfalls that flow in to the nearby lake. The landscape is magical. The self guided tour takes you through the history and everyday life of the people that lived in the estate/abbey. You can walk around parts of the lake and take a quick bus to the beautiful walled gardens. The handmade chocolate from the Abbey is very tasty and a nice souvenir. Definitely worth a trip especially on the way to the Connemara National Park.

From the moment we entered, Mary made us feel so welcome and meet us on the car park. My daughter Emelia is obsessed with pigs so this was her dream come through. Emelia got to meet Emilia the pig. Emilia was very calm on the fairy walk and Mary has her well trained to stop for pictures and videos. We then went to meet Apollo the pig and learnt how to brush and act around the mini pigs. We then went into the mini pigs which were so friendly and loved a belly rub. We meet the other animals and fed them they were all so friendly. Thank you we had the best day ever , ten out of ten ❤️🐷🐽🥰

This was truly an incredible experience! Our guide, Mary, was absolutely wonderful. You can tell that all of the people who work there truly love and care for the animals. Amelia the pig was the sweetest girl and so fun to walk! We pet and fed the animals, played at the playgrounds and enjoyed a snack at the cafe. Every part of this was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend visiting if you’re an animal lover and have kids. So fun for all ages!

We really loved our time with Amelia. She is a very cute and hungry pig. Mary was so lovely and we all enjoyed the walk thru the forest and fairy village. Would recommend to any animal lover. The sanctuary is so well looked after and has an indoor and outdoor playground and a lovely walk as well as a fab coffee shop. A great day out for the family or a couple.

We had an AMAZING time at the Burren Nature Sanctuary & Botanical Collection! It was one of our favorite things on our visit to Ireland. Mary was so knowledgeable and friendly as she walked with us on our fairy walk. We adored Emilia. She was so funny and happy. We actually could have spent much more time here, as the grounds offer an abundance of flora to explore. We spent a lot of time with the adorable mini pigs!

We had a wonderful afternoon on the fairy pig walk with our guide Mary and Flora the pig. It was very surreal and great fun. Mary was so informative on what they do at the sanctuary and very knowledgeable on all surrounding the wildlife and rare flowers. She gave us a lovely gift of Yeats poetry. Highly recommend paying a visit here.

Nestled in Kylebrack West, the Slieve Aughty Centre is a family-owned eco-friendly resort that offers a range of activities and experiences for individuals and groups. With over 25 years of experience, the center provides opportunities for horse riding, nature trails, walking, and hiking across 2,000 acres of managed forestry. The Ecotourism certified location also features an organic kitchen at the Three Towers Organic Restaurant where guests can enjoy delicious home-cooked organic food.
Thank you so much for such an amazing stay at Slieve Aughty Centre!❤️ We stayed in the hut (no. 13 — the lucky one!) and absolutely loved it. It was adorable and very cozy, hidden among the trees, offering great privacy and bringing a beautiful old-style charm. The hut had a double and a single bed, plus a desk where you can read or write — Gabriel especially loved it! We also really appreciated the fresh towels, beds and the quiet atmosphere that allowed us to relax, sleep well, and truly enjoy our privacy. It was great to have access to the playground, so the kids were safe and entertained while we could relax and read a book. Just to be aware when booking the hut: the toilet and shower are in a separate building only a five-second walk away, and both worked perfectly — nice hot water with great pressure (better then in my house) 🤣 We also had access to the kitchen just a few seconds walk away, making it easy to grab a tea or coffee or cook a quick snack if needed. And if you forget your book — don’t worry! There are plenty available to borrow, with something for everyone. The Arts Centre was also a highlight, especially for the children, and we loved the variety of games available. Chess and Monopoly became our favorites for cozy evening family moments. We opted for full-board accommodation, and it was a fantastic choice. The food was delicious, fresh, and organic — straight from the garden. My favorite lunch was the goat cheese salad, and the homemade pizza was a hit. The dinner lasagne was amazing, and the breakfast buffet was a highlight every morning: eggs, hummus, salad, ham, pancakes (the boys’ favorite!), and homemade jam — simply delicious. We spent three days learning to ride horses and going out into the forest. Jana was fantastic, and all the girls were so caring and patient with us. My boys are autistic, and both the staff and Stephen went out of their way to make sure they felt safe, happy, and well looked after. Oliver was over the moon when Jana brought out her horse, Charlie, for him to ride — it was truly a magical experience. Everyone was incredibly kind, and our boys were well looked after throughout our stay, with tea, hot chocolate, and snacks always available. Ester, the owner, is an amazing person — always there to help and support. It was also heartwarming to see the staff all eating lunch together, creating a strong sense of belonging and community. Thank you for making our stay so memorable. We had an absolutely amazing time at Slieve Aughty Centre and will certainly be back! Kisses and hugs to everyone from Gabriel, Oliver and Dominika ❤️

I came to this place because I couldn’t find a rental accommodation. I have never regretted my decision—whether paying rent or paying Slieve Aughty Centre, for me it was the same. The difference is that here I found peace, serenity, and so much, so much, so much warmth, helpfulness, kindness, and a smile always ready to greet you in the morning. It’s a truly enchanting place that brings healing in many aspects of one’s life. There’s no point in writing too many words that wouldn’t do justice to this magical place! Visit Slieve Aughty Centre and enjoy your unique experience even with your four legged friends! Thank you immensely for your service and for creating such a magical place! 🙏

I lived there for the past three months as a volunteer and it was the best decision I’ve made in my life. This place is incredible if you love nature at its fullest you won’t be disappointed. The managers are caring with their employees and very professional. This place cured my anxiety. People complaining about this place are just grumpy because there is nothing to complain about. This business is not perfect but is not for certain, a place to avoid.

They also have a great cafe for food and drinks after your ride. Everyone who was involve was amazing and a big thank you to you all. Lastly, Panache you are an absolutely amazing soul and deserve lots of treats. We will definitely be back on our next visit and every subsequent visit there after.

Absolutely brilliant place for workshops. I've been teaching dry stone here this summer and it has been very enjoyable. It's such a lovely spot. The Slieve Aughty Centre has so much to do for everyone. At the "Weekend In the Hills" you can take workshops in stone carving basket making, cleft gate making, sugán chair making, felting, drum making, archery bow making, silver jewelry, and wood turning. The food is delicious and the landscape is so beautiful there.

I spent 3 nights in Slieve Aughty and I had the most amazing time. I went out on Treks, did a couple of lessons and some yoga. The horses are really well cared for and the instruction and supervision was excellent. The food was also excellent. The menus are really well considered and the ingredients are seasonal, many from the organic garden. Overall the vibe is really lack back and all the staff are friendly, approachable, caring and so patient. I learned so much and it was a real tonic for the soul. Thank you. #glamping #gatewaytogalway #horseriding #sustainable

Great track - 1500m. The lads working there are very sound. We had 1 guy that was running late and they did their best to accommodate us on the next run. The karts there are very fast as well , doesn’t feel like you’re hitting top speed even when bombing down the straight. Thanks again lads 👍

Great place to have fun. I need to travel over a hour to get there but it was worth it. Nice staff and lot of fun at karting. 1,500m track is clean, wide and very long. Karts itself were ok, no rattling or jerking. I recommend it.

Rinville Park is a picturesque destination located near Galway Bay, just south of Galway City and Oranmore Town. The park offers a variety of attractions including the Sli na Slainte walking route, woodland trails, a public playground within old garden walls, BBQ and picnic areas, an outdoor gym, Rinville Castle and Rinville Hall. Visitors can enjoy charming views of the North Atlantic Ocean while taking leisurely strolls through leafy pathways filled with green spaces and sitting areas.
Between the Park and the Point you can get 5 to 7 miles of almost off road and away from cars walking. In winter / spring there are done facilities (coffee cart) that are shut. It is peaceful and whilst I was a little dejected at Rinville Hall being so covered in vegetation it is just a green box and the castle was locked, the whole area grew on me. If I were local it would be a regular walking area.

Lots of space for walking. Ideal for kids as they can cycle or visit the playground. The playground is spacious with lots of entertainment for kids. Lovely picnic area. Can be very busy at week-ends. Some sections of the park overlooks Galway Bay. There are some stunning views of the bay.

First timers here. My daughter aged 4 and I wanted some exercise while we waited for our companion in the Galway clinic. Plenty of free parking mid-week. You can definitely get your exercise here between walks of varying lengths, playground and gym equipment. We were disappointed that the fairy trail hasn't reopened due to fallen trees presumably post storm Eowyn. What we saw looks good though. I also really liked wheelchair and buggy accessible picnic table and chairs and built in BBQs. We spotted a coffee truck but didn't purchase anything. Highly recommended for fresh air away from the bustle in Galway city.

I rarely leave negative reviews, as I understand mistakes can happen—but this really needs to be addressed. We visited the swimming pool for the first time in a long while, and our kids were so excited. Unfortunately, the excitement quickly faded when we found out that half the pool was closed due to maintenance. Fair enough—we still paid full price, which we didn’t mind, assuming everything else would be up to standard. But what shocked us was the level of dirt and neglect throughout the facility. The floors, changing rooms, and bathrooms were all visibly dirty, and there was a strong smell of urine that made the experience both unpleasant and unhygienic. It raises serious concerns about cleanliness and potential health risks. This place clearly needs a deep clean and better ongoing maintenance. Really disappointing.

Super day out with the kids. Good size family changing rooms. Kids loved the waterslide. Not to busy. €32 for a family of 5 (2 adultd & 3 kids) Nice little coffee shop. Parking is €2 per hour or €12 for the day.

Very disappointing visit today. I brought my daughter to use the loo before entering the pool, i was disgusted and sockened to find there was human feces on the floor around the toilet and not to mention the very potent smell of urine in the toilet facility area. When the issue was brought to the attention of a male member of staff at the front counter i was advised that there was a plummer working there and may have caused the disturbance. There is no reason or excuse for stool to be on the floor. The pool itself was freezing that our stay didnt exceed 30mins. The changing facilities are very dark and also very cold. We as a family wont be returning. We found this facility to be far too cold and dirty. Very disappointing

Nestled behind B&Q in Knocknacarra, Monkey Business is a vibrant indoor play haven designed for children up to 10 years old. This exciting adventure center boasts three stories filled with climbing frames, thrilling slides, and colorful ball pits that promise endless fun. Little ones can safely explore dedicated toddler areas while older kids dive into activities like bouncing on castles or getting creative in the painting zone. Parents can relax at the café as their children enjoy a day packed with laughter and exploration.
Having tried every play centre in Galway Monkey business is for sure mine and my daughters favourite place to go! All of the staff are so accommodating and kind and the facility itself is amazing! It’s never overcrowded due to the booking system which I think is fantastic gives the kids a chance to really get around and play! They also have a brilliant cafeteria area and plenty of seating! 10/10 from me!

Monkey Business is fabulous. We have been there many times - either just ourselves with our own kids, or often for parties. Our middle guy just had a joint birthday this past weekend with a friend in his class and the kids as always had a fantastic time. I also love how they give bibs so you can easily spot the kids from your party! The kids have a fabulous time and are always safe .. gives us parents time to have a bit of a chat without having to keep an eye on them. We'll be back many times more.

This will be the last time I visit Monkey Business. I came with two young children, aged four and one. I was surprised to learn that I had to pay for my one-year-old, who is far too young to use most of the facilities beyond the ball pit area and the small soccer area. What made the experience worse was the attitude of the receptionist. When I questioned the policy, she compared it to paying for a child at the cinema, which is not accurate or appropriate. A one-year-old does not require a ticket at the cinema, nor have I encountered any other play centre that charges for a child so young. Even after I paid for my one-year-old, the receptionist’s attitude made me feel extremely unwelcome. They had an hour and a half in which they could have approached me to politely explain the policy, but instead, all I received were dirty looks. The issue is not the fee itself but the dismissive and unprofessional manner in which the situation was handled. Staff should be trained to show courtesy and hospitality, especially when dealing with families. Do better, Monkey Business.

We recently had our son’s 4th birthday party here and had a fantastic time. The children were busy playing the entire time and enjoyed every minute of it. The length of time is perfect for the age group. The staff were so accommodating and couldn’t have been more helpful on the day. We had a number of allergies and were given a different option for party food. This isn’t something we have found anywhere else to date. A great place to take the family. There is a restaurant up front, then some videogames and air hockey tables, followed by pool tables, a small pub with interactive darts, and then bowling. It is not huge, but big enough to have fun. I particularly like bowling, so it was fun do with the kids. Service was polite and helpful. All in all, quite good. It helped that we went on a weekday, so it wasn't full.

We reserved a bowling alley, but I think you could do without reservation. Place is clean and loads of other things to do apart from the bowling alley. I am taking off 1 star for no bowling shoes provided (was told that they're not necessary) and the bowling pins are on strings, and sometimes they get tangled up when resetting and you're sitting there for 5 minutes waiting for them to untangle( this happened multiple times during our 1h slot). Otherwise I had a great time, we did not order any food or drinks so I can't comment on that.

2:00pm Monday 8th of September 2025 witnessed the most atrocious service by two men employees which I think stemmed from the manager on shift, now upon arrival with my brother we had a super friendly attitude but were met with a gruelling response of negativity and with one of the employees, not even a response to “hello” completely blanked, I got a cocktail and was shocked to find out they had no spoons and hesitated to provide me with one because my cocktail he made was undrinkable more icy than cocktail, nasty really, lack of training I’d assume. Since my exit without a goodbye, trying to put a finger on the real issue here, this may sound biased, but not making all this up, nobody could make up such incidents. All said I’ve visited before and received great response from a blonde girl, not all bad.

Hey there! Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of visiting Planet Center on Headford Street in Galway with my housemate, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! From the moment we walked in, it was clear that this place was all about having fun, and it definitely delivered. We started off with a game of bowling, which was not only a great way to kick off our visit but also surprisingly affordable at around €8 per game. The staff was super friendly and helpful in getting us set up, and the lanes were in great condition. Overall, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and we had a strikingly good time (pun intended). After bowling, we headed over to the pool tables, where it was only €2 per game. The tables were well-maintained, and the atmosphere was relaxed. It was the perfect spot to show off our pool-playing skills (or lack thereof, in my case) and just have some fun, especially considering the reasonable rates. Next up on our list of activities was air hockey, also priced at just €2. The fast-paced, competitive nature of air hockey was thrilling, and it really got our adrenaline pumping. It can get surprisingly intense, making it perfect for a friendly competition between friends. One thing that really stood out to me about Planet Amusement Center was the reasonable pricing for all of the activities. It's not often that you can find such a wide variety of entertainment options at such low prices, making them accessible to people with different budgets. The overall vibe of the place was lively and welcoming. Even on a Sunday, the place was bustling with people, all enjoying their chosen activities. Whether you're visiting with friends or just looking for a fun place to hang out, this spot has got you covered. In summary, my visit to Planet Amusement Center on Headford Street in Galway was a fantastic experience. With a variety of activities, including bowling, pool, and air hockey, at affordable prices, it's a great choice for a weekend hangout or a fun time with friends. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great way to spend some quality time in Galway. It's a fantastic place to unwind, enjoy some friendly competition, and make lasting memories. I'll definitely be back for more fun in the future!

History Museums
The Galway City Museum is a must-visit cultural stop offering insights into the history of Galway city and county. From Prehistory to the 21st century, the museum showcases documents, photographs, medieval artifacts, and memorabilia chronicling urban life. Notable exhibits include the Reliquary of St. Ursula by Richard Joyce, traditional Galway Hooker boat, ancient Claddagh Ring, and Irish-language books by Padraic O Conaire.
The Galway City Museum was one of the most rewarding experiences of our time in Galway. It offered a clear and engaging look into the city’s history, helping me understand how everything we were seeing around town fit together. It gave context to the culture, architecture, and even the street names, turning the rest of our trip into a much richer experience. The exhibits are well curated and easy to follow. They cover everything from medieval Galway to its maritime heritage and modern development. What I really appreciated was how the museum focused on the stories of the people who shaped the city. It felt personal and authentic rather than just a collection of facts. The museum is welcoming to all ages and types of travelers. The layout is simple to navigate and visually interesting, with a few interactive touches that make it even more enjoyable. Its location near the Spanish Arch and River Corrib makes it convenient to visit during a day of exploring. If you're visiting Galway, make time for this museum. It gives you a deeper connection to the city and its people, and it made everything else we saw feel that much more meaningful.

MOST VIBRANT CULTURAL SPACE IN GALWAY: We visited the museum in Sept 2025 and were deeply impressed by the vibrant cultural space. The museum is located right next to Spanish Arch, overlooking the fast moving Corrib river as well as the Galway Bay and the mighty Atlantic Ocean. We understand that the museum came into being in 2007. The museum blends effortlessly in the historic surroundings, signifying a combination of heritage and traditions with modernity. The museum displays art, history and architecture of Galway. We were impressed with the traditional fishing practices of Galway. The museum also highlights the importance of story telling with the rooftop offering a breathtaking view of the town on the western coast of Ireland. In short, it provides a cultural immersion into the culture and history of the Irish Republic.

What a cool design for a museum. There is so much history about Galway, from the poets to its fishing history, and all the people who once walked the streets shoeless. I love the historical model facing how the town across the bay now looks. Oh! And the Legos throughout the museum.. Nice touch.

Free entry, no need to book in advance! Very interesting experience, you learn a lot about the history of Galway.

Very cool experience through the history of the city of Galway. Walk through time and experience well preserved artifacts and interactive exhibits. Learn about the bog and how the people of Ireland used it to their advantage from building to luring enemies to their doom. As you wander the top floors explore their current super human exhibit and see the progression of modern medicine and dive into an under the ocean experience exhibit.

This indoor karting venue is perfect for adventurers aged 7 and up, offering a thrilling escape from the everyday. Your adventure kicks off with a safety briefing before you hit the track, where you'll race on a well-designed circuit that spans an impressive 20,000 square feet.
Thanks to the team for their work! It was our first time at this karting, we drove with our own company (4 people) After we were added 4 more people who behaved aggressively and did not follow the safety rules, It was not safe for us and we stopped our run, the staff responded and we had a second run where everything went without incident and we finished our run with great pleasure. Great place for a vacation with family or friends we will definitely come back again✨ Thanks again to the team for their attentiveness and fairness🦅

Avoid Galway City Karting – Rude, Dismissive Staff & Poor Customer Service If you’re considering Galway City Karting, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. My partner and I had an incredibly disappointing experience due to the unprofessionalism, rudeness, and dismissive attitude of the staff—especially a man named Martin at the front desk. My partner’s kart was not working properly for 18 out of the 20 minutes. When she pulled in to report the issue, a track staff member simply opened and closed the choke, then sent her back out for one extra lap—completely ignoring the fact that she had spent almost her entire session in a faulty kart. When we brought this up at the front desk, Martin said he would test the kart himself. After doing so, instead of addressing my partner properly, he ignored her and walked past. When we asked for an update, his response was, “It’s driving fine; doesn’t seem to be any issues with the kart—it’s your word against his.” This was after his own colleague had already admitted to adjusting something on the kart mid-session. So how exactly was it “her word against his” when his own staff had confirmed there was a problem? Then, in a blatant attempt to rile us up further, Martin accused my partner of driving with the brake on—a completely baseless and unnecessary comment. My partner, who has been driving for years, immediately corrected him, but he dismissed her with a cheeky remark and then condescendingly told her, “No need to get aggressive.” This was completely unwarranted, as he was the one making slick comments designed to provoke a reaction. When I called him out on his contradictions and the fact that he had basically called my partner a liar, his response was to act defensive, accuse us both of being aggressive, and storm out mid-conversation to “calm down.” He returned only to try and shut the conversation down by handing us the manager’s email and offering a refund—without a real apology or any accountability for how poorly the situation was handled. Beyond the terrible service, the track itself is small, boring, and absolutely not worth €30 for 20 minutes—especially when you’re stuck in a malfunctioning kart half the time. The overall atmosphere was unwelcoming, and the staff on track weren’t particularly friendly either. Bottom line: If you want a fun karting experience with staff who actually respect their customers, go elsewhere. Galway City Karting is a waste of money and time.

I couldn't afford the full hour for my grandkids as I had 6 of them with me for the birthday party. The guy at the till really tried to push how good value it was but it just wasn't possible on my budget. Then when my grandkids were done thier turns. The young man working there jumped in a go kart, grabbed the 🍭 from my grandchild's hand and said "more fun for me I guess". Won't be coming here again that's for sure. Good day. - B

With sessions tailored for different age groups, including toddlers, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Went here for my cousins birthday party. The kids loved it, staff were so friendly and patient. Everything sorted down to food, very straightforward experience. The only complaint the kids had was that they couldn't stay forever!

Great place for kids, to jump and have fun. They offer party packages, which are great and always loved by the kids. Plenty of parking outside. They have a seating area for parents and guardians who are watching while the kids jump.
Nadine O — Google review
Birthday parties in Jumplanes are always easy, pretty much everything is taken care of, kids are happy out (really all the want is a bit of a bounce, some food and fun with their friends), staff is on hand, friendly and helpful. One star off for the pretty awful coffee (if you can call it that) and the usually freezing temperatures (if you're an adult watching the kids party; the kids are fine as they're bouncing).

Had another wonderful birthday party at Jump lanes. Staff are so friendly, efficient and fun! As usual we had a lovely experience today , where the kids enjoyed lots of bouncing fun. Everything ran smoothly and a happy birthday boy at the end of the day. Thanks again Jumplanes
Fiona C — Google review
Horrendous, horrendous experience. We attended a birthday party in Galway. Our children have sensory issues. My son was refused entry to jump on the lanes as he wouldn’t keep his socks on. Yet there was another child with no socks on allowed on the trampolines. They said it basic hygiene rule but they allowed that to happen. They don’t wants kids with sensory needs. He was so upset. I asked to speak to a manger and explained it’s a birthdays party you know the children have sensory issues and I didn’t see sign up and socks are to be worn. I didn’t sign a waiver and it’s says trampoline socks are to worn. What are trampoline sock and do you supply them. Parents came to me to try and help me and he was getting more and more upset. She offered a voucher what an insult for what he can’t jump on the trampolines. Of course I didn’t take it no way. There are other business’s in the City and County and you tell them my child has sensory needs they are fine with no socks. The staff are rude, all kids, no mature adults and zero understanding for children with additional needs looking on at the situation unfolding . It was cruel. His sleep was off for two nights after that. No parent or child should leave any place of business in tears they way we were spoken to and treated.

Dirty floors where kids walk with their socks, the bathroom is shared with gym customers, so don't expect it to be clean. Stay with your coat and hat on as the place is the same temperature as outside.

A nice jumping place for children. Make sure to be on there on time as sessions start every hour. There is a small place for parents on the second floor to have coffee or drink and watch the children. The staff are friendly with children. There is an adult gym as well.

We booked this for my sisters hen. It was fairly wet and misty so we thought it was going to be a disaster but we loved it. The setting must be a bog/wind farm/WAR ZONE. The instructor was excellent, a tad intense but thorough. None of us did it before and they were there to help us along. Loved it.

Love this place. We had great fun at the archery and it was well organised. The location is right up in the hills of Lower Connemara and you really do feel like you are in the wilds. This starts with the journey to the range. The roads are typical rural back roads and you will need a sat nav! All leads to a great adventure atmosphere..Best enjoyed in a decent sized group. Will be back!

The Cliffs of Moher are absolutely breathtaking. The views over the Atlantic are stunning, and the sheer scale of the cliffs is awe-inspiring. Even on a windy day, it’s an unforgettable experience and a must-see if you’re in Ireland.

Very beautiful view but the walking path is extremely tight so you constantly have to watch out for people behind and Infront of you, and if that wasn't enough there is an electric fence which you almost need to touch because the tight path. Also there are a lot of flies which ruin the view because they keep flying in people's faces. The unisex toilet stinks very bad, so I would recommend going to the bathrooms at the souvenir shop

There is a visitor centre where you can tour some exhibitions and there is a cafe and restaurant there too. There is also a well stocked gift shop.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Dunguaire Castle is a beautifully restored 16th-century tower house located on the southeastern shore of Galway Bay near Kinvara. Once owned by the OHynes clan, it was restored in the 20th century and became a meeting place for literary figures like Yeats and Shaw. Now open to the public year-round, it offers local entertainment and banquets during summer.
Stopped here in a tour from Galway in April this year. Just a quick visit and we're able to walk around the perimeter. Very picturesque 16th century castle home. Worth a quick picture if your nearby. Also really neat to see how low the tides get nearby.
Eric S — Google review
We stopped on a Monday afternoon just to take a peek. Parking is across the street and down the road a little bit, but an easy walk overall. Parking is also free which is nice. The castle itself was not open when we were there, I'm not sure if it ever is anymore? But we could see theres a gift shop inside through the windows. We took some photographs and walked around it and went on our way. There were many others there as well. All in all expect to spend 30 minutes here.
Alex B — Google review
Stopped off on the way down the coast and wasn't dissapointed. There was a free carpark a short walk from the castle with plenty of parking available. The walk to the castle was actually good as it provided a few photo opportunities and survey the surrounding scenery. While it was closed it was still a very interesting walk around and well worth the visit.
Darren S — Google review
Pretty cool castle on the side of the road. Think high tide makes it look cooler. Inside is still closed but you can walk around outside and take pictures. No cost. Parking 50m past castle.
Jer S — Google review
Only 4 stars because we couldn't get into the inside as it was locked, apparently it's a seasonal attraction. We were able to walk around the outside, completely around the castle and that was ok. The view of the castle is great,v from the road, from town and from the entrance walkway. There is a car park across the road. There are no public toilets outside as far as I can see and I walked all around it. The view of the bay is gorgeous.
Elk H — Google review
Dunguaire Castle is one of the most iconic sights on Galway Bay. Built in the early 1500s by the Ó hEidhin (Hynes) clan, it later passed to the Martyn family — one of the “Tribes of Galway.” In the 20th century, it became a gathering place for Ireland’s Literary Revival, hosting the likes of Yeats, Lady Gregory, and George Bernard Shaw. The car park is a few minutes’ walk away on the opposite side of the road, so be ready for a short stroll. At the moment, the castle itself is closed (major repair works needed, so no tours or banquets), but it’s still worth stopping to walk around and take in the views. Great to see a Palestinian flag flying from the walls here — you’ll notice quite a few of them around Clare. It adds a contemporary layer to a place already steeped in history.
Aga D — Google review
Dunguaire Castle is absolutely charming and steeped in history. Perched right by the water, the views are stunning, especially around sunset. The castle itself is small compared to others in Ireland, but it’s beautifully preserved and gives you a real sense of what life might have been like in a 16th-century tower house.
Oshadha A — Google review
Beautiful little castle overlooking the Galway Bay inlet and nearby village. Was unfortunately closed on our visit but we were able to walk around the exterior. It was so picturesque that I proposed to my partner and she said 'YES'!!

Summer Camp Review Chloe and Ruby had an absolutely brilliant time at camp this summer! They loved the whole experience and made loads of new friends along the way. Their favourite activity was Ringo Riding – they haven’t stopped talking about it! Chloe also really enjoyed the Turf Challenge, which added to the fun and adventure of the week. Ami and Xavier were their standout leaders – both girls felt especially connected to them – but all the leaders were genuinely lovely, welcoming, and supportive. The accommodation was great – the rooms and beds were comfortable and clean, and the facilities overall were excellent. The food was really nice too! That said, Chloe recommends bringing a little stash of snacks if you’re someone who likes a nibble at night! All in all, they had the best time and are already looking forward to going back next year. Highly recommend!
Kim S — Google review
I did the Turf challenge with my son (14) and it was a lot of fun. I would suggest to do it in a bigger group though as this adds a fun competition aspect and more laughter. They have a lot of old shoes from people who left theirs behind after the activity so eventually there is no need to spoil your own shoes. The guide took a lot of pictures - so we have good memories :)

I couldn't fault this place. My 12 Yr old went with a group of school friends. He said the staff were really nice. He loved the activities and walks. He is a fussy eater and raved about the food. I emailed to get some recipes and they happily obliged. Devices are limited to 1 hour a day to ring home, listen to music etc, so if you have a tech kid this place is great for the soul. They really take care of the children and have good fun.

We had an amazing experience. We did a full day of a activities, the zip lining followed by the bog challenege. Every was so nice, welcoming and informative - well everyone except the girl on reception with glasses and curly black hair, she was beyond rude and should not work in customer service. Nonetheless we didnt let her ruin our day.
David B — Google review
If I could give this less then 1 star I would. Most staff/instructors were incredibly rude and disrespectful. Especially Cian and Rory who were very rude through out the whole experience and were plain nosy inputting them selves in personal conversation that never concerned them. The food was stone cold and utterly uneatable at times there were zero vegetation , gluten free or vegan options for people with those dietary requirements unless you would like to eat a plate of extremely over salted vegetables every meal. Many instructors were very pushy to do things that you were uncomfortable doing like some of the water activates that many people are just unable to do due to past trauma or just over coming fear. I was given a MOLDY pillow that I slept on for two nights as I was unaware of the mold on it I was utterly disgusted with this whole situation. This was a horrible experience I would be embarrassed to recommend this place to anybody

We celebrated a birthday party here! The first one and a half hour of gaming was amazing but the food they provided later was not that nice.
Ankita Z — Google review
Not worth it. We had visited a few years ago while on holiday and decided to revisit today. It is a shell of what it was. Broken down machinery and terrible quality equipment. Balls are half deflated and hurleys are all split and taped together. The baseball which was the best part has become glitchy and erratic. We were given a safety talk at the start do not go past the nets. Ten minutea later we asked for balls to be collected so we could play and told to get them ourselves . Staff are disinterested and stand around talking. Used to be a greatplace for a rainy day but not worth the money anymore. It was €125 for us for two hours and we all left disappointed.

We recently brought a group of 85 people to Pure Skill Galway for a team-building event, and it could not have gone better. The setup was fantastic, the variety of activities meant that every single person, regardless of age or fitness level, could get involved and enjoy themselves. It’s rare to find something that genuinely caters for such a wide mix of people, but this did exactly that. From the moment we arrived, the lads were brilliant, so welcoming, patient, and incredibly accommodating with such a big crowd. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made sure everything ran smoothly for us. The whole group had an absolute ball, with plenty of laughs and a bit of friendly competition along the way. If you’re looking for something fun, inclusive, and brilliantly organised for a large group, I couldn’t recommend Pure Skill Galway highly enough. A top-class experience from start to finish!

Merlin Park Woods is an urban woodland located on the eastern edge of Galway City. The park contains a network of paths for you to wander down, and there is plenty of wildlife to be seen including squirrels, foxes, butterflies and birds. There are also ruins of Merlin Castle in the North Wood, and a playground for kids.
Like something out of a fairytale! The castle is fun to see. There are tons of trails, both well worn and some smaller ones that take you into the woods. It was truly beautiful and a staple for anyone visiting Galway especially for the first time.

It is a good place for walking. There are paths in the forest but sometimes it looks very wild. There are also many remains of ancient walls in the forest. It seems there was a village here many centuries ago

Nice place for a walk, but not alone. There's still a lot of trees knocked down after the last storm, areas closed and marked with yellow tape.

Beautiful park with lots of small paths to take. Nice to walk the dog and to ride the bike or just for some walk. Lots of trees that I really hope they never put down. The only thing that I would complain about, is the amount of rubbish.

Nice trails. Beautiful nature but I suggest you to don't walk alone, expecially in the evening. If you are lucky you can meet some squirrels.

Busy Bees is a great place for kids in Galway to play. There's a large soft play area, separate one for toddlers, a roller skate disco, teddy bear stuffing workshop (a great birthday party idea), and laser tag for over 8s. It's within walking distance from the front door so it's perfect for families on the go.
I had my child’s party here today, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! The staff were absolutely amazing—so friendly, professional, and attentive to every detail. The venue was spotless, airy, and welcoming, creating the perfect atmosphere for both kids and adults. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly, and it truly showed. I highly recommend this place for any event—you won’t be disappointed! Thank you for making our celebration so special!

Absolutely amazing place for kids! Busy Bees is clean, well-organized, and very safe. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, with plenty of space for children to play and enjoy themselves. The staff are incredibly kind, helpful, and professional. A special thanks to the manager — her attitude and the way she treats both parents and children is outstanding. We had a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to all families!

Its okay, could be overcrowded midweek mornings, might be hard to find a sit/table for adults. Place is clean, lots of activities for younger kids, more under 5 or so. Could be handy if this place would take credit/debit cards, and even better if you could see somewhere information that they dont take cards before you underess your kid. In general place is not to bad, in good location, possibility of birthday party, clean, lots of light. You can buy coffee/tea on premises and some snacks and juices. Door locks from inside and can be opened only by adult.

Located just 30 minutes northwest of Galway, Glengowla Mines offers a unique experience for visitors. The former silver and lead mine, which closed in 1865, now welcomes guests to explore its underground tunnels on guided tours. In addition to the mining history, the site also features demonstrations of traditional Irish activities such as sheep herding and turf cutting.
Such a wealth of knowledge about farming and what farmers really need to live. Keith’s farm is gorgeous. Pip is baby girl boarder collie is the star of the tour. So amazing to watch her at work. If you are ever visiting Ireland this is definitely worth the stop.
Kelly H — Google review
We had a fantastic visit today. Our tour guide was outstanding – extremely knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the mines and the lives of the people who worked there. I would 100% recommend this experience.
Dovile A — Google review
I've been to many places in Ireland, and this place is definitely on my must-see list! Mining at Glengowla began in 1851, when a local farmer discovered galoo (lead ore) on the surface of the soil. The first shaft, named after Captain Paul, reached a depth of 40 meters and a width of 60 meters. The mines operated until 1865, producing lead and silver, as well as other minerals such as quartz, fluorite, dolomite, and marble. This was the time of the Great Famine in Ireland (1845–1847), and the mines were likely created to provide employment for local residents. In 1999, the mines were saved from flooding by the Geoghan family, who restored them and opened them to the public. • Underground Mine Tour: Approximately 45 minutes long, guided. You'll descend into marble caverns, see remains of equipment (ladders, pipes, mine carts), and rare fluorite and quartz crystals. Tours run every 20 minutes, with an emphasis on atmosphere: dripping water, "miners' breath," and even a moment of complete darkness. The surface museum features mineral exhibits and artifacts. • Dog Herding Demonstration: Watch Irish sheepdogs (like Bob) herd sheep under the direction of farmer Keith Gioghan. This is a picturesque show about farm life in Connemara. • Turf Cutting Demonstration: The traditional Irish process of collecting fuel from bogs is an authentic experience. • Farm Walk: A 1-kilometer trail with the opportunity to pet Connemara ponies and lambs and learn about local flowers and animals. • Gold panning: Try your luck in the on-site river. • Seismology: The mines are equipped with a seismograph that records earthquakes in real time—part of a national monitoring network. • Additional attractions: Blacksmith's workshop, powder house, mineral and gift shop. Movies have also been filmed here, and there's a photo gallery.
Alexander S — Google review
An enchanting place full of interesting things to discover: a visit to the mines and the chance to pan for gold for fun, the fascinating history of turf cutting, discovering the unique plants of the marsh, and all there is to know about sheep herding, lambs and the skilful sheepdogs. The owners will warmly guide you through the activities. With shop and coffee we didn't want to leave!
Fiorenza T — Google review
We had an amazing time on our visit here! Keith gave an excellent demonstration. We even were able to hold a baby sheep , one of my gf dreams! The mine tour was so cool. Learning the history of it was so intriguing. Absolutely recommend a trip here!

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with Killary Fjord Boat Tours, where the stunning landscapes of North Connemara unfold before your eyes. This unique experience allows you to explore Ireland's only fjord while soaking in breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and tranquil waters. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, providing ample time to appreciate the natural beauty and perhaps even spot playful dolphins along the way.
Unforgettable Adventure with Killary Fjord Boat Tours! Our family had the most magical experience with Killary Fjord Boat Tours—an absolute highlight of our trip! From the moment we stepped on board, we were greeted by a wonderful team of professionals who made us feel welcome and ensured we had an incredible journey. The cruise through the fjord was nothing short of breathtaking—the stunning landscapes, dramatic cliffs, and shimmering waters left us in awe at every turn. It felt like sailing through a postcard-perfect dream! A special thank-you to Captain Gordon—you truly made this adventure unforgettable for my boys! Not only did you share fascinating stories about the ship, but you also let them "steer" the ship and showed them the ropes (literally!). Their faces lit up with excitement—it was a dream come true for my little sailors. Thank you for your kindness, expertise, and passion—it’s clear that your team loves what they do, and it shines through in every detail. We will definitely be back! Until next time, Killary Fjord! Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting—pure magic from start to finish!

A golden opportunity to experience the beautiful landscape from the seaside, even though there was a strong wind it was like driving in your car , steady. Food was lovely and they tell you the story about the area. The staff was so dedicated to give us all a fantastic trip

The tour was great. The Fjord is truly beautiful place. We had amazing trip. The boat comfortable, you can relax drink a tea o coffee. If its raining you can sit inside.
Neringa ᨐ — Google review
Was it worth the price? Hard to say. 27 Euro for 1,5 hours boat trip seems not too expensive. However you go just out and back again with a recorded voice reading out the leaflet available on board. The landscape is very nice, but not spectacular and the ride adds nothing what you can't see from the road. Dolphins are not guaranteed, we did not have luck. So, all in all, I'd say: save the money and have a nice lunch.

Athenry Castle, a remarkable 13th-century fortress, stands proudly overlooking the Clarinbridge River in the charming heritage town of Athenry. Constructed by Meiler de Bermingham as a defensive stronghold, this historic site showcases well-preserved medieval walls and battlements that transport visitors back in time.
Beautiful restored ruins of a classic tower house with surrounding wall and yard. In the middle of Athenry, parking is very limited on busy days, but staff are super helpful and kind. Amazing piece of history, well worth the visit.

Quick stop on our drive from Galway to Dublin. Dee gave us great information about the castle. We could tell she was very passionate and knowledgeable.
Rachel G — Google review
Worth a visit, not just for fans of the medieval times. When we went, there was a medieval festival going on for the day, and the kids had the best time. There even wasn’t any entrance fee for museum and castle that day.
Katrin W — Google review
One of my favourite Irish castles. The tower house is the highlight of the visit. It has been beautifully restored, complete with a recreated medieval hall that helps visitors imagine what life might have been like centuries ago. The surrounding area, with its medieval walls and quaint streets, adds to the atmosphere and makes for a lovely walk after your castle visit. It’s not a massive site, so you can easily explore it in about an hour, but it’s definitely worth the stop, especially if you’re already in Galway or heading towards Connemara.
Anna G — Google review
This is a great little castle we got there just in time for the guide which was full of great information.

Aasleagh Falls is a group of picturesque waterfalls set against a stunning mountain backdrop, making it a popular destination for riverside walks, picnics, and canyoning. The area offers incredible views and is perfect for hikers seeking a challenge with its vertical kilometer climb and testing surfaces. Families looking for fun activities in Galway can enjoy a visit to Aasleagh Falls, just a short drive from Leenane Village.
The falls are beautiful and well worth the stop if you are in the area. They are a short walk from the road. The parking area is somewhat small and right on the road, so be mindful of passing cars. The falls are only a short walk from there and the trails appeared to go on from there. There is a great viewing platform where we were able to see salmon jumping up the falls, which was very cool.
Ian M — Google review
Aaleagh Waterfall is surrounded by beautiful nature, and the area is peaceful and green. However, the path to the waterfall is on the wrong side — the best view is actually from the opposite side, where there’s no official trail. Overall, it’s not a must-see, especially since the road leading there is quite busy and has sharp turns. It’s worth stopping by if you need a break from driving and want to stretch your legs.
Luba M — Google review
The falls are an interesting spectacle and one that in winter months would be even more impressive; the salmon run that tracks along the side of the river is thoughtfully designed too, which is nice to see.
Mal J — Google review
1. Located on the county border Aasleagh Falls is located approximately 1 km north of the border between counties Galway and Mayo, on the River Erriff, shortly before it flows into Killary Harbour. 2. Part of the Western Way This waterfall is the starting point for one section of the long-distance Western Way walk. The walk along the Erriff river valley, with views of lakes, mountains, and forests, is very picturesque. 3. Popular spot for salmon fishing and easy walking The water near the falls is part of a salmon run, so fishing here is especially popular in the summer months. Furthermore, the approach to the waterfall is quite easy—the path is short, but can become muddy after rain.
Alexander S — Google review
Beautiful surroundings and good hiking or trail walks. Plenty of bars & restaurants within easy driving distance. Absolutely God's country..!!! 👍
Phil M — Google review
100% stop at this cute place. It is on the side of the road and easy to stop. The surroundings are amazing, on one side the waterfall and on the other a little lake with a hut in the side.
Rocio P — Google review
Visited on a lovely sunny day and that really enhanced the experience. You can't get that close to the falls unfortunately, but there's a good view from the bridge on the road and a nice walk alongside the river. Limited amount of parking, but as there were not many visitors, that wasn't a problem. Well worth a stop.

Devastated that the woods were so heavily managed after the storms that blew through. Im not sure why so many trees were felled, some stumps seemed like they were unaffected. It used to be my favourite place to visit 10yrs ago so to walk in now and see the devastation is heartbreaking.

I had such a brilliant experience at this escape room. From start to finish the whole thing was run so smoothly and professionally. The staff were incredibly welcoming and explained everything clearly which immediately put us at ease and built the excitement. The room itself was so well designed. Every detail felt carefully thought out from the immersive theme to the clever puzzles that really made us think. It struck the perfect balance between challenging and fun with clues that were logical and satisfying to solve. You could tell a lot of effort and creativity went into making it engaging and it kept us completely hooked from the moment we walked in until the very last second. The atmosphere was fantastic too. The set design props and storyline pulled us straight into the experience making it feel like we were part of a real adventure rather than just a game. It is easily one of the best escape rooms I have ever tried. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun day out whether you are new to escape rooms or experienced you will have an unforgettable time. We will definitely be coming back to try another room.

We had such an incredible time at this escape room! The puzzles were well thought out, the atmosphere was spot on, and it kept us completely engaged from start to finish. But honestly, what made the whole experience unforgettable was Conor. He was absolutely amazing so friendly, welcoming, and full of energy. From the moment we walked in, he made us feel comfortable and excited for the game. He explained everything so clearly and added just the right amount of fun and humor along the way. During the escape room, Conor was fantastic at knowing when to step in with the perfect little hint without giving too much away, which kept the challenge alive but never frustrating. His enthusiasm and passion really stood out, and you could tell he genuinely wanted us to have the best possible time. Conor honestly made the experience for us—we couldn’t have asked for a better host. If you’re thinking about booking, do it, and hopefully you’ll get Conor too!

We had an AMAZING time here! We did the haunted cabin and it was tricky but super fun. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We left something behind in the room and they even offered to post it to us instead of us traveling back to Galway! Highly recommend for friends or family looking for a fun activity in the city!

Additionally, there is a casino where guests can try their luck at slots or table games while enjoying complimentary drinks. Have been visiting this arcade for a lifetime & it never fails to entertain on all levels. So many games to play, pool tables, skill based machines & a full casino in house if you over 18 👌I would highly recommend a visit here for hours of fun for the family. Colour, music, messing & a very friendly staff. The same faces have been taking care of customers for years & I never pass through Salthill without popping in for a bit of light fun. Spend as little or as much as you want but a perfect place to stop into while on your holidays 👌

Oh man, this spot is an absolute blast! No matter your age—whether you're a kid, a teenager, or an adult — this place is pure fun! The games and activities here are just awesome, and guess what? They even got some pool tables to amp up the place! They've got a casino too, adding a whole new level of excitement to the mix. It's like a thrilling wonderland where you can enjoy the games, activities, and even try your luck at the casino. You're in for a guaranteed good time! And there's the cherry on top: if you win enough tickets, you can get yourself an awesome prize to take back home.

We were here with friends. In total, we spent about 100 euros almost immediately and went to make ourselves a coffee and started walking around to see what machines there were. After a couple of minutes of walking around like that, we were kicked out for no reason and told not to come back. When asked why, they only answered "leave and don't come back." Horrible service

It is a great place to spend a few hours with the kids. They enjoyed playing the games and arcade machines to collect the tokens to then trade in for prizes. There's plenty to do here. There's also pool tables upstairs if you fancy a couple of games of pool. A deposit is required for the pool cues.

The park is a great place to go with kids, with a playground full of swings, slides, climbing frames and a brightly coloured train installation. There's also plenty of green space for playing football and chasing each other around. The park is in walking distance from Galway's University, making it an ideal location for parents looking for somewhere to take their children during their break from studying.
Spacious green space with a playground for kids. There's also a mini skatepark inside. The benches look clean and well maintained.

Beautiful park to take the kids to. Clean, and well kept. Play ground is very nice with lots to do and see. Keep a few coins handy for the toilet available. Lots of historical places to see and visit around the park. Ducks in the little river. Close to shops like Tesco express.

Amazing Playground #### A Delightful Experience at the Millennium Children's Park and Playground We recently visited the Millennium Children's Park and Playgroundband was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The first thing that caught my attention was the impeccable cleanliness. The grounds are well-maintained, free from litter, and the equipment looks well-cared for. This aspect made it a welcoming place for families and children to enjoy without any concerns. One of the most exciting features of this playground is the mini train. My son loves it! The train adds a unique and engaging element, allowing kids to use their imagination while playing. It’s not just a static piece; it’s designed to be interactive, sparking creativity and providing hours of fun. The water pump fountain is a thoughtful touch, perfect for keeping everyone hydrated and soaking wet too 😂 It’s clean, easily accessible, and situated conveniently within the playground area. The sound of the water also adds a calming ambiance, making the space even more pleasant. The playground boasts a vibrant and cheerful atmosphere. The layout is spacious, allowing children to run around freely without feeling crowded. There are plenty of seating areas for parents and guardians to relax while keeping an eye on their little ones. Additionally, the playground is located in a safe, well-lit area, enhancing the overall sense of security. This playground is a gem in the community. Its combination of cleanliness, unique features like the train, and practical amenities such as the water fountain make it an exceptional place for children to play and explore. I highly recommend it to any family looking for a fun, safe, and well-maintained outdoor activity space.

Fenced in park near to the cathedral parking. Great park for kids. The floor is a soft foam, overall a safe place next to a busy road. Some interactive play things like the sand digger and the water pump which is unique and fun for kids. There is also free wifi if you can get on.

My kids loved it here. My oldest is obsessed with trains, so the train at the playground was a big hit. We didn’t try the other playground at the park because the toddler section kept my almost 5 and 2 year old completely occupied.

We were in Galway on a holiday with a few friends. This was a well worth addition to the trip. Not sure what I was expecting before hand but this was a tremendous experience. Up and down the river, great weather and a bar on board. Perfect thing to do. Not too far away from the centre. The prices are very reasonable. Will come back next time I’m in Galway.

Nice relaxing tour. Weather hit us and we had to go inside on the lower deck. There was a large group of people just drinking and partying and were so loud we weren’t able to hear the information from the tour guide because they were very rude and inconsiderate. Maybe they shouldn’t serve alcohol until the 2nd half of the cruise.

Our family (2 adults & 3 children... 8, 9, 10) stayed at the Delphi for 3 nights in August 2021 and had the best vacation EVER. We did the Mountain Biking, Archery & Bush Craft, and Climbing & Abseiling on-campus and each session was a great combination of learning and adventure. The group leaders were incredible at handling kids and their antics while also being a bit cheeky to keep the adults entertained. The food was delicious and portion sizes were fit for replenishing our active bodies and there is a nightly kids movie to help everyone unwind. The staff were amazingly accommodating, putting together make-shift ice packs for aching adult knees and ankles and vacuuming up sand from our room that came in from a local beach. The location of the Delphi is a bit isolated so access to cell service (even with free Wi-Fi) is limited, but that makes it great for disconnecting and taking advantage of the activities available locally: hiking, horse trekking, swimming, or even just driving around to take pictures of the breath-taking scenery. There are 2 towns within 25mins drive so you aren't too far away from civilization. I can't recommend the Delphi more highly... We'll definitely be booking another trip out next summer to do some of their water-based activities!
Autumn T — Google review
Instructors seem to fixed on force, even if life of a child is in danger. Drowning or asphyxiation is a treat for them and getting bitten dozens of times daily by insects . Also not getting rid of mud inside of ears, after being forced by them all over you, is a exclusive feature. > Stay as far away as you can from this trap.

Really disappointed with the service I received from Jim at Kayakmor. I tried to book for a big group on the weekend and was told he would sort something out for us. This was followed by absolutely no communication to confirm either way. The night before I rang to ask for an update and was again not given any confirmation either way. I received no communication on the day so I had to find another kayak company with very short notice. Would highly recommend dealing with Paul at Corrib Kayaks instead as he was very accommodating and helpful.

We took the train as lazy options thinking it will be similar to hop on bus but it wasn’t. It’s taking to the see side and back with few good history about the places played from spikers. Entire toor taking max 30min and definitely not worth the price!!

This experience was so bad is was hilarious! It is one of those stories that become the bad/funniest stories when you get home. The commentary had very little history & we couldn’t see most of the POI she mentioned. The driver was totally uninterested in providing any interaction with his customers. The Aquarium was never mentioned even though we parked right our front of it. There were at least two groups of people whose first language wasn’t English in our carriage so this information would possibly been very helpful for them.

Discover the Aillwee Burren Experience, a captivating destination in Ballyvaughan at the heart of the Burren. Explore an atmospheric cave and passage network formed over two million years ago by water, featuring larger caverns with a stunning waterfall. The site also houses remains of extinct brown bears and offers guided tours showcasing captive hawks and owls. Additionally, visitors can enjoy falconry walks to handle these birds of prey.
Great visit Nice staff, very relaxed. And not only can you get to see the Birds of Prey but you can see it a SECOND time in the afternoon. Sometimes those Birds of Prey can be quite cheesy but not this one. The lads are witty and well informed and keep it interesting and entertaining throughout. Then there's the caves! Very impressive! Quite long, and expansive. Good access to it. Some people turned back, I guess they were claustrophobic - but to fair, it's all well spaced out with occasional caverns as viewing points. The guide is informative, keeps it short and simple and you learn/see a lot. Well worth the visit.
Gavin — Google review
Fantastic experience. For the ticket price, you get to visit both the cave and the birds of prey centre. The cave is very accessible and not difficult to navigate. There are some wondrous sights inside and the tour guide was both very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. The birds of prey centre has a nice range of species to see and the flight shows are excellent. There are a number across the day each displaying a different set of birds. Highly recommended for a visit, the kids absolutely loved it.
Andrew C — Google review
This place was not on our list to visit, but due to the weather we decided to check it out. I am so glad we did!! We thought it was just a cave experience, but there is a birds of prey experience and also a great cheese shop here with their homemade goudas. Wow! We loved everything! The cheeses were amazing. The cave is supreme! The birds are so beautiful and great flyers. Having the birds swoop and dive 2 inches from your face is a bit startling but so fascinating! This place is worth the visit even if not on your route. The drive there is also pretty amazing!
Don B — Google review
It's a great experience, but there's really little time in the caves, I'd like to walk around longer. Due to the large number of tourists, the tours go quite quickly. The bird show is more suitable for children, but it is interesting to look at the beautiful birds and how skillfully they fly. The cave is beautiful, very well equipped, comfortable to be in. But too quickly, perhaps the best time to visit is not the tourist season, for example October-November. The upper parking lot offers a great view of Ballyvaughn!

We cannot recommend this fantastic Cave tour enough! My 6 year old Daughter was in awe from start to finish. Our very friendly and highly educated tour guide Sinead made this a wonderful experience. Thank you to the staff and team for creating such a memorable family holiday. We will be back! Best wishes, Lisa, Cork.
Lisa A — Google review
This is a fantastic experience, we did the caves first, and our tour guide Sinead was fantastic, giving us a detailed history of the cave system with a humorous approach, and took the time to point out the most beautiful features there. We then grabbed some lunch at the little cafe and did a bit of shopping in both gift shop & Farm shop, before heading down to see the bird show. The team there were fantastic, again delivering information with humour and interest, and even letting a few people hold the birds. The team did well even when the snowy owl refused to take part fully! For 27 euro per adult, I think was really good with the level of activity, service & for a unique experience!
Lewis G — Google review
We cannot recommend this place and the hawk walk enough. The hawk walk was the best experience ever! We booked for 10am and got introduced to 2 hawks, we then got to hold them on gloves and walk them into the woodland walk. We released them and then they kept coming back to the gloves for chicken. The walk lasted about an hour with the hawks always coming back to your glove, plenty of photos and learning about the amazing hawks from the guide. It was amazing and well worth the money. We then also watched all 3 bird displays as they have different birds each time, the cave tour and tried their cheese & fudge. We had a wonderful day and we highly recommend this place.

Eyre Square is the perfect balance between the past and present of Galway. Even on cloudy days, it's full of colour and people. You'll find monuments with incredible stories behind, touristic attractions, thousands of shops both with traditional Irish crafts and clothes and modern ones with things that you will like. There is a shop for everyone, including Corrib Shopping Centre and Eyre Square Centre. There is also a Supermac's across the street, and as it's well known, Supermac's is the favourite fast food establishment for friends, family, and more in Ireland. You will also find ATMs around the Bank of Ireland building. There are also numerous bus stops there since most buses from Eirann pass by Eyre Square before going to and out of town. During summer, they have trading markets, and during winter, they have the Christmas market with plentiful attractions for children and more. In summary, Eyre Square is a great place for locals and tourists.

The journey includes a scenic detour past the iconic Cliffs of Moher, making it a perfect day trip for those eager to explore both natural wonders and cultural heritage. As you wander through Inis Mor, don’t forget to indulge in some delicious ice cream from Paudy's before heading back.
We had an amazing day! The weather could not have been kinder. The journey both ways were exceedingly calm. Our time in Inis Mor was wonderful. We walked to the Temple of Beanan for a beautiful view of the island. The Cliffs of Moher were magnificent to see from the water. My husband lost his glasses on the ferry. They were found and Anna, from the office and the crew could not have been more helpful in returning them to us. You couldn’t ask for better service. Thank you again. This is a must-do experience.

This was one of my favorite tours while in Ireland! I debated about this tour while planning, but I’m glad I did it! We got lucky with beautiful weather and calm seas, but the Aran Islands are breathtakingly beautiful and it was so cool to see the cliffs from the water! Our ship had a smaller open air upper deck and an enclosed lower deck. We sat in the lower deck on the way there, but were able to snag an upper deck seat on the way back! The crew was so wonderful and caring, making sure everyone was comfortable and got good views of the cliffs! They even did a little spin around of the boat so everyone got to see! I would highly recommend this tour!! Tour: Inis Mor and Cliffs from Galway

I went to Inis Mor from Galway City.. The winds were strong & the sea was choppy. On boarding, the staff were welcoming and helpful getting people seated. Early into the trip passengers started getting sick. All the staff were on the ball, handing out sickness bags and helping several people outside on deck. I was very impressed on how every single one of the staff (Criu) helped. On returning, I think the Captain made a great decision in skipping the viewing of the Cliffs of Moher, to head back directly to Galway. Aodan & Robert were outstanding in dealing with the challenging trip, as were the other crew, whose names I can't remember. I had full confidence in Aran Island Ferries and I will use them again.

We took the Aran Ferry from/to Rossavel on October 8th to/from Inis Mor...the people at this company were helpful in answering my questions prior to our arrival. The crew were also nice and professional. My sole complaint, and it's a very minor one...the music choice on the public system was awful...coming and going...soothing...is better, not the employees' home play. :-)

A great tour and definitely a recommendation. There is a 4 hours stop on Irishmore, time enough to do the buster. And on the way back it's breathtaking views of the Cliffs of Moher.

Took the tour to Inis Mor. Had an excellent mini bus driver names Stephen.who gave us the history of the island and some science also - yeah! So glad we did that rather than bikes as it rained a little. We also ate at a wonderful place - see pic.

If you are in Galway or Rossaveel, you would be doing yourself a disservice by not spending a day with Aran Island Ferries. The crew were welcoming, kind, considerate, and fun as hell. If you're lucky, I hope Owen is on your trip. Owen made the trip 1000 times better. The whole crew was awesome. Thank you!

I did the "4.5-hour" Aran Islands and Cliffs of Moher Day Return Tour. In actually, it is only a 3.5 hour tour, at best. With bike rentals taking another 30 minutes, it's not really enough time to do anything on the island. Even though we left Galway on schedule and the water was calm, we got to Inis Mor at 11:30. Before we got off the boat, the crew told us that we had to be back at 3:00.

Aughnanure Castle, located near the scenic banks of Lough Corrib and just a couple of miles from Oughterard, is a well-preserved 16th-century fortress with remarkable features. Originally occupied by the formidable OFlaherty clan, it later came under British control and served as a stronghold against Galwegian attacks during Cromwellian times.
My second time coming to this castle! I came alone in 2023 and this time brought my family. We are from Canada! It’s so magical- both times I went it was slightly raining which set the mood even more! It’s down a long road- along a river - and in the distance you see a magical castle on the rivers edge! Theres also a farm with horses behind which is cool to see :) my daughter loved it!

Excellent value and a great way to spend 30-60 minutes on your way through the area. One adult and one student cost less than €10. It was not crowded on a Friday afternoon. Bathrooms on site. There's a self guided tour via informational signs.

Absolutely worth to visit the not too big castle! But be very careful with arrival! Cassa is closing at 5:15 PM, if you don't want to miss the entry, it's imprtant to keep in mind. The parking place is 5 minutes walk from the castle, all along a romantic, dark water creek.

A very beautiful tower house alongside the road from Galway to Clifden. They did a tremendous job in restoring this piece of Irish culture. I will for sure come back, when it is not soaking wet.

We saw a sign for Aughnanure Castle by chance as we drove out from Galway on the way to Connemara. We put a pin on our Google map, so we could find it on our return to Galway at the end of the day. It turned out to be a great find. Right now, Aughnanure has not been commercialized. Walking from the parking lot down a wooded lane with horse pastures on one side and Drimneen river on the other, one could imagine what it was like to approach an imposing castle in the 1500's. To me, it was a truly unspoiled castle experience. Check it out before it loses its charm. You won't be disappointed.

The self guided option was lovely. We took our time and read all the info on the history of Connacht and its rulers. You can take as much time as you'd like and no one rushes you. Go early in the day for less crowds.

Fantastic place to visit and worth the price of admission. We were greeted with a happy and friendly staff member who told us a bit of history about the architecture and extra things. It is absolutely worth the visit. Highly recommend! There is a parking lot available.

Rathbaun Farm, previously owned by the Burkes and now run by the Connolly family, is an 80-acre traditional Irish sheep farm. The farm showcases native Irish sheep breeds and offers a glimpse into centuries-old farming practices. Visitors can participate in activities like feeding lambs and baking scones while enjoying the hospitality of the 250-year-old cottage with its stone walls, thatched roof, and turf fire.
Can’t recommend this experience enough. I brought two friends visiting from the US and we had the loveliest afternoon. Evelyn, Fintan & all those working on the farm were so welcoming and kind. A really well organised, informative, and true Irish activity that I wouldn’t miss! Scones and tea/coffee were delightful. 10/10, will be recommending to everyone looking for a farm activity!
Eimear F — Google review
Cannot recommend enough!!! Everyone was so kind, the scones were delicious, and Fintan was very knowledgeable about all things sheep-related so it was wonderful to hear from him. If you’re in Co. Galway you should absolutely check out Rathbaun. You can book by filling out the form on their website and they’ll reach out to you quickly.

Absolutely one of the highlights of our trip to Galway! Evelyn and the rest of the staff are so lovely, they make you feel right at home. The homemade scones are a highlight in itself, they’re wonderful. Overall I would say it’s a unique experience that I would recommend anyone coming to Galway to try.

We had a very fun visit in early Aug 2025. Enjoyed the history, the beautiful thatched roof cottage, Bailey the sheep dog, seeing different breeds of sheep and making/eating scones. A lovely time - highly recommend!
Amy K — Google review
A great way to experience farm life in Ireland! We started off by meeting Mary and Evelyn who welcomed us with open arms and a nice fire to sit by. It felt like we were greeted by family! We then made scones with Mary - everything was so organized, fun, and the directions were easy to follow. While we were waiting for the scones to bake, we visited the farm area where we learned about different types of sheep and watched a herding demonstration with Bailey the dog. We even got to bottle feed a few lambs - they were so sweet! Then we went back into the cottage to enjoy our delicious scones with jam, coffee, and tea. We had the best time!
Olivia D — Google review
Great old countryside farmhouse with a friendly staff that serves up tea and scones and then you meet the sheep and watch the sheep dog round them up from the field. You might even get to feed some lambs while listening to information about the changing times for the Irish farmers.
William C — Google review
My family and I visited Rathbaun Farm a little over a month ago and had a wonderful experience. We arrived a little earlier than expected, and were greeted with warmth and kindness. We even got to tour earlier than our allotted time, so we ended up having a “private” tour. And of course, the scones were absolutely delicious!
Katherine G — Google review
We had such a lovely time! The staff were so friendly and welcoming and we learned so much about sheep farming. This is a must do when traveling to Ireland!
