Seafood restaurant
Nestled along the Weir at Kilcolgan, Moran's Oyster Cottage is a charming family-run establishment that specializes in gigas oysters and a variety of delightful local seafood dishes. This quaint thatched cottage, with its rich history dating back to 1790, sits just upstream from where the Dunkellin River meets Dunbulcaun Bay—an area renowned for its fresh oyster trade.
This is my seventh day in Ireland on this trip and this is the best (eat out) meal so far! Fresh WILD and natural oysters are so sweet that’s out of this world. But it’s not all about the oysters. Must also have the chowder, brown bread and clams (from the special menu). Bread was soft with crunchy crusts and cut in perfect thinness. Clams were cooked in perfection to conserve its natural sweetness and well balanced with white wine and butter sauce. Seafood chowder contained all the goodness from the sea in a just right not too light or too thick creamy broth that is utterly gorgeous. And of course, all the great good must be accompanied by a pint of Guinness or a local G&T for good measures. For Gin, Gunpowder was my choice of the day. Good atmosphere, great music, booking is recommended even in the so called “quieter period” today. All in all, a good crack! Highly recommended.

Moran’s has a wonderful, casually upscale, cheerful, and comfortable atmosphere. The staff are exceptional, anticipating our wishes, needs and questions, and meeting them with a friendly demeanor. Though the menu provided a smaller selection, the food was delicious. I had the tiger prawn salad, and my husband enjoyed oysters and cod. It was all excellent and ample! Prices are what you might expect for this kind of experience. I absolutely recommend this restaurant for a special lunch or dinner out. Cheers!
Amy G — Google review
This was the best service we've received in Ireland so far!! The young people waiting were so attentive and really wanted ypu to enjoy the experience. The food is fantastic, but I would be happy to come back just for the service!
Penny A — Google review
This was probably our favorite place to eat at on our entire trip. It's a small business. the menus are beautiful and simple. It was incredibly clean. Very well organized. The staff were all beautiful. The oysters were amazing. We didn't love the potato cakes so I wouldn't get that again. The sweetest relaxed little place. Loved it! Highly recommend.

What a fantastic meal. We called to book a table for 12.30 but were told there wasn’t any availability u til 3 pm however they did say that we could sit outside weather permitting which is what we did do and it was fab. We met the owner who gave us a bit of history around the place. The food was fab. Oysters, prawns, salmon…. Would highly recommend!
Lisa W — Google review
Beautiful scenery. Good oysters, fish and chips, and bread and butter pudding for dessert. Service was OK - difficult to get water and took about an hour to get our entrees. It's a bit of a hassle to get here if you are staying in Galway and don't have a car.
Vivian A — Google review
Amazing sea food, all dishes were great, the service was friendly. The restaurant has been around for a while and boasts a long list of celebrity visits. It is an exquisite restaurant. ✨️

A hidden little gem but renowned for it's kitchen. The food is excellent, the service spotless. I had the best oysters (naturell) of my life.

Bistro
Seafood restaurant
Located in the Claddagh corner of Galway, Oscars Seafood Bistro is a charming restaurant known for its delectable seafood offerings. The interior features a nautical theme with dusky blues and sea greens, creating a delightful ambiance. The menu highlights the Catch of the Day, offering unique dishes such as Japanese-style seaweed steamed oysters and blackened cod with habanero spiced beans.
We booked Oscar’s for a small wedding party and it was just perfect. Right from the start Ilya was so welcoming and gave us so much attention all night. The food was incredible, with a focused menu with interesting options that made it hard to choose. The ingredients are really high quality, and the sauces that came with each dish were delicious. I’d love to go back and try more. We had a lovely night, and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Michael D — Google review
My parents and I managed to get a walk in on a Tuesday night while we were visiting Galway. This restaurant is an absolute Galway must see! Our lovely waiter Ilija/ Ilya had the best wine recommendations, the oysters were the best I have had in Ireland and the fish dishes we had were so good we didn’t even stop to take a photo of it for this review first. It’s a seafood forward restaurant that mixes flavors from all over the world to highlight the beauty of local irish seafood. If you aren’t a seafood fan then this gem will be wasted on you. They even have a gin martini with a fresh oyster in it.
Hannah K — Google review
A little expensive but food was amazing. Seafood wouldnt be my 1st choice but I was good with it and this place did not dissapoint. I got the seabass on the specails menu and wow such a good dish.
Barry A — Google review
The food is exceptional. I enjoyed their special, sea bass, and it was cooked to perfection and the sauce so good. I always eat at Oscar's when I'm in Galway.
Connie A — Google review
Hidden gem. Fresh, innovative flavor combinations, great vibes, and an overall wonderful experience. If you love seafood don't let the lack of online menu or reservations scare you off!
S B — Google review
It was our first time visiting after reading others reviews. If you love sea food, and the guidance on what you want to try and experience then the staff are wonderful to describe the nuances of each dish. Please partake!
Darcy C — Google review
When entered, didn’t feel any welcoming reception. Stood for couple minutes in front of the bar until someone chined up and said hi.
Kingkarn K — Google review
The food was exceptional and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The sauces each had a little twist that made all the difference: star aniseed in the mussels/fish, curry powder in the wild prawns, and something magic in the steak sauce. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation just shortly after they opened for dinner, because they were packed.

Fish & chips restaurant
Hooked is a popular seafood spot located on Henry St in Galway, just a short walk from The Latin Quarter. The restaurant boasts a seaside-inspired interior with rope balustrades, reclaimed timber tables, and colorful nautical wall art.
Very tasty. We found this restaurant by chance, as there were simply no seats in the center. But we were pleasantly surprised, firstly, by the delicious and fresh seafood, and secondly by the presence of air conditioning. Just super in the heat of +29°. Special thanks for this. I really liked the local beer. Surprised. I recommend it to everyone.

Everything I had here tasted amazing! Got the risotto and grilled fish n chips and every bit of seafood was cooked and seasoned to perfection! Very popular slort so I would recommend making a reservation as I had to wait 45 minutes as a walk-in. Oh! Forgot to mention that I got the receipt in this cute little treasure chest! Very fun
Calvin G — Google review
First night in Galway was looking for a solid place for fish n chips, found this place with high ratings so came to check it out and it did not disappoint! Walked in without reservation, was seated in about 15 mins, small space so defo recommend to book ahead next time. Ordered an appetizer with salmon and fish n chips with the daily catch fish as they ran out of cod. Both dish was very delicious, fish was tasty, fresh and you can tell it was definitely daily caught, the fish meat sticks nicely in one piece. Love the sauce and chips. Server was very friendly and efficient with great recommendation and pensionable!

It's a small restaurant so I advise making reservations ahead of time. We were lucky to get a table for 5 but did have to wait about 30 minutes outside in the drizzle. The food was pretty good everything was fresh. The service wasn't bad but wasn't good by any means. We had to ask our server to remove plates where missing food dishes were etc. She never inquired about more drinks or dessert we had to flag her down to ask.
Mark W — Google review
Hooked. For starters I got a spicy shrimp taco and it was amazing. Me and my table shared a starters of nachos and I wish we ordered more as it was the best nachos I have ever had, including local mexican restaurants! For main I got the spicy shrimp mac n cheese which was really hot so I needed to wait a minute or two before eating it, but it was amazing. I got churros as a dessert and it is also the best churros I have ever had!! I recommend trying: Nachos Spicy shrimp tacos Churros Lovely experience with staff, although the bathrooms could be slightly cleaner but that is not a major problem either. Beautiful place, a must when you’re hungry in Galway!

Omg I had one of the best fish and chips ever had (cod) but I have to take one star off as the portion was small. I’m a small woman and I still left feeling hungry after but ordering more would have been too expensive. The fish and chips was $19.40 euro. Protip ask for an extra piece of lemon!
Amy L — Google review
Nice quiet spot walking distance from Quay St. Great fish and chips, 4 of us shared two plates and also tried the mushy peas. Enough to fill us up for a bit until we found the next local gem we wanted to try. Staff was very friendly and the dining area had a cute coastal charm.
Kyleigh R — Google review
First of all, I must express my disappointment with the service, which I found to be rude, unwelcoming, and generally unpleasant. The staff member with ginger hair (glasses) displayed a negative attitude when we inquired about the possibility of being seated 15 minutes earlier than our scheduled time. Regrettably, her responses were not welcoming, and she allowed us to leave the premises despite the pouring rain. Secondly, I found the food to be rather watery and, in my opinion, overrated. However, I must acknowledge that the seafood was fresh and of acceptable quality. Thanks.

Donnelly's of Barna Restaurant & Bar, located on the picturesque Barna pier in Galway, has recently undergone renovations to ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors. The restaurant is renowned for its delectable seafood dishes, such as their take on fish and chips, baked sea bass, and the popular Galway Bay seafood chowder.
This place is the best!!! They were booked solid, yet found a way to accommodate us for dinner. Despite the game and the crowds, the service was attentive and prompt. The food was great and served hot. Moreover, they took on a lost dog we found at the pier, kept her overnight, and found her owner. Good food and good people!

Donnellys of barna is a Pub that serves the most delicious fresh foods. The staff are amazing and very efficient. My wife said her Linguine was perfectly cooked with a tasty sauce.

Awesome Irish food. You need to stop here! Homemade and from scratch (as a Chef by trade, I appreciate fresh food) I never had a combination of chicken, black pudding, and bacon. Sauces are not starchy like so many other restaurants in the UK. We highly recommend the king of pies if you like a hardy homemade dish. Loved the fact that the mashed peas are fresh and do not come from a can. The staff were so helpful and super friendly. A must stop.

Hearty tasty filling food. Sound friendly staff. Comfortable surroundings including indoors, outdoors and covered outdoor areas.

A truly wonderful experience! We enjoyed a lovely Sunday evening with amazing seafood, live traditional music with a warm welcome from the friendly staff. We ordered the seafood sharing platter, seafood tacos & chowder. The fish was of a high quality & so tasty!!! We will definitely return.

The Irish food at this pub was amazing! We had been out exploring all day and wanted a good warm meal on a chilly Irish fall day when we got back into town and this pub certainly filled that need! The wait staff and manager were very attentive and the locals were so friendly and pleasant to speak with! They were also super accommodating of our 7 month old!

Castle
Nestled in the Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden is a picturesque Gothic Benedictine nunnery with restored Victorian rooms and free garden tours. Originally constructed as a castle in 1868, it became the residence of Benedictine nuns in 1920 after their abbey in Ypres, Belgium was destroyed during World War I. The nuns have since restored the buildings and developed the surrounding areas into a stunning tourist attraction.
This is truly a wonderful place to visit. The staff are lovely and very helpful. It is a beautiful, calm and has a relaxed feel. The way the Abbey is set out with information, is very easy to negotiate and read, and although it contains a lot of information, it is wonderfully executed to keep you engaged in every room. The gardens are exceptional, the food was fabulous and the Connemara ponies were clearly very happy! Overall it was a terrific experience.
Sarah B — Google review
Our day trip to Kylemore Abbey and Gardens has been one of the highlights of our UK tour. The weather was perfect and the drive from Galway to Kylemore on the N59 was a treat. Lough Inagh on the way was one of the prettiest and spectacular views we have seen anywhere. The Abbey and Lake setting is superb. The whole story behind the building of the Abbey until present is interesting, sad and inspiring. The Gardens are a highlight. It is a really well run visitor experience.
Rob M — Google review
Absolutely stunning Abby as well as fantastic example of an extremely large fully walled English garden. We appreciate that there was a shuttle bus taking people from the ticket area all the way to the English gardens. Walking here was absolutely stunning. We had a fantastic lunch inside their cafeteria style food service area. The prices for the food were very reasonable and everything we had was excellent. The historical tour inside the Abbey was also noteworthy.
Mary B — Google review
Small self guided tour through a very well put together downstairs museum. The upstairs display area is very disconnected and feels super random. The grounds are gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful setting right on the lake. Parking is very easy, there is a wonderful cafe at the bottom and another near the gardens. Highly recommend visiting this castle, and the drive out is STUNNING!
B B — Google review
This is a gorgeous place and so much history. The walled gardens are pretty much done for the year, being October, but imagine they are spectacular in summer. It's still worth the visit, even late in the season.
Kat S — Google review
We visited Kylemore Abbey on a rainy day — and although the skies were grey, the atmosphere was magical, and we ended up spending a full 2-3 hours exploring the estate. The moment you arrive you sense you’re in somewhere timeless: a grand castle-turned-abbey set amidst the wild Connemara landscape. What stood out for us: the Victorian Walled Garden (about 6 acres), originally created in the late 1800s by Mitchell Henry in loving tribute to his wife, and painstakingly restored from the 1990s onward. You stroll through the formal flower beds, herb & vegetable plots, old glass-houses, and fruit trees — all within high brick and granite walls. We also took the shuttle bus from the visitor centre to the gardens (this runs regularly) and found it very convenient. The estate features peaceful woodland & lakeside walks, a café where you can pause for tea and scones, and a craft shop showcasing local treasures. Inside the abbey itself, you learn about the castle’s origins, the story of the Henry family, the later arrival of the Benedictine nuns in 1920, and how the estate evolved through time. Highlights include the charming neo-Gothic church (built in memory of Margaret Henry) and the family mausoleum — small but deeply atmospheric. Even in the rain, the reflections of the castle in the lake, the misty hills behind it, and the rich gardens made the visit unforgettable. I’d heartily recommend bundling up and giving yourself enough time to wander gently, perhaps linger in the tea house and enjoy the quiet. A beautiful blend of nature, history and calm that stays with you long after you leave.
Yasmin G — Google review
One of the most stunning places we visited on our 1000+ mile Irish road trip. The story of this place is part of what makes it special so I'd encourage enought time for that. But the grounds are enormous. They have walking paths, gardens, and so so much to explore. We spent 4 hours here. The gift shop is one of the better ones, it carries hand crafted items from the Nuns. The restaurant is cafeteria style, but honestly, some of the better food we had on our trip. The landscape on your way here is also breathtaking. We saw the Fjords on our way north. One of our must sees for sure.
Chelsea — Google review
Kylemoore Abbey & Victorian Walled Gardens were beautiful. Situated between majestic mountains you can see mini waterfalls that flow in to the nearby lake. The landscape is magical. The self guided tour takes you through the history and everyday life of the people that lived in the estate/abbey. You can walk around parts of the lake and take a quick bus to the beautiful walled gardens. The handmade chocolate from the Abbey is very tasty and a nice souvenir. Definitely worth a trip especially on the way to the Connemara National Park.

Fish & chips restaurant
McDonagh's is a traditional, family-run chippy and seafood restaurant in Galway that has been serving customers since 1902. The cozy maritime-themed dining room and deli offer a casual charm with an incredible variety of sustainable seafood options. With over 115 years of experience, McDonagh's is renowned for serving some of the best fish in the city.
Went to Galway for the day and this place was highly recommended. I had the fried Cod and chips with a small Coke. The fish was so fresh with a nice portion, and the chips very hearty and tasty. Wonderful homemade tartar sauce, but no ice for the drink. I think this is a trend in Ireland. Second place to not offer it. Very festive restaurant to eat as you people watch the crowd on the promenade.
Karen S — Google review
Popped in for a quick lunch ... service was amazingly fast for a super busy period. Fresh seafood... we had the hake, mackerel, sausage , fresh oysters and chips.... no complaints.
Ratna N — Google review
It can be a bit hectic here since it's located right at the "entrance" to the Latin Quarter. But the line goes quickly and the service is great, helping you to order the right type of fish and amount of sides. It was also fairly easy to find a table, which you need to wait until you order to claim. We got cod, hake, and salmon as our fish, and chips, mashed peas, and coleslaw as sides. We shared everything so we could try a bit of it all and the fish was all fantastic! For having it ready so quickly, they do a great job preparing it here. The mashed peas were also tasty but the coleslaw was a bit too mayo-heavy for our tastes. All in all, a solid choice if you've had a pint or two or you're just looking for a hearty meal after a day of exploring Galway.
Geoffrey H — Google review
Friendly and casual environment for a simple meal of fish and chips. Prices are definitely lower than all the pubs along the street, but there is no compromise in quality. The cod is moist and flaky, without being too oily. Staff are friendly and simple ordering process. Food will be served and do consider a carlsberg or guinness? They are serves in cans. :)
Jeffery N — Google review
This place is one of the most famous spots for fish and chips in Galway—you’ll see it on pretty much every “must-try” list. What’s cool is you can actually choose the type of fish (cod, salmon, etc.) and they also serve a variety of seafood dishes and oysters. I went with their classic cod fish and chips and it was delicious—fresh out of the fryer, piping hot, and super satisfying. The chips were nice and crispy too! Staff were quick and really friendly. Can’t wait to come back and try more of their seafood next time.
Carrie G — Google review
We visited McDonagh's on a Saturday right at opening. There was already a line but ordering was very quick. We were able to grab a table indoors & they bring you the food when it's ready. We had cod, salmon, mushy peas, and chips. The fish portions were really generous and very tasty. The battery was very crispy and thin! Although I liked both fishes, I preferred the salmon. The mushy peas were OK - I've had better. It tasted a little watery and needed more seasoning. The chips were fresh but also ok (I think I just don't like thick chips). Would definitely recommend coming here for the fish though.

Fresh and tasty fish & chips! Crispy batter, tender fish, and quick service. Classic spot in Galway. Very busy, but totally worth the wait. A must-try when you’re in town!

We loved the smoked cod and chips here, and the Oysters were amazing - bursting with flavour and incredibly fresh and the cold Guinness with them was a perfect combination, this place is historic, nicely decorated and well worth a visit, 5 stars, well recommended.

The Kings Head in Galway is a historic watering hole located in an over 800-year-old building, offering tasty pub grub and local brews. It's a popular choice for seafood lovers, with an incredible reputation for its food menus. The lunch menu features a variety of seafood dishes paired with their exclusive Blood Red Ale, providing a unique dining experience. Additionally, the relaxed spot showcases chic modern art and serves locally-sourced dishes with a global twist.
The food service and pub are wonderful. The only knock is that the apps are small but they were so good it didn’t matter. We went with the goat cheese croquettes, ribs and crab claws for apps. We went with the fish and chips and Guinness stews for mains. All were delicious and hit the spot and one of our favorites pubs in Ireland.

Lunch at The King’s Head is like eating inside a history book that smells of Guinness and grilled meat. Crab legs, bruschetta, ribs, oysters ...they all came out bold and unapologetic, like Galway itself. The seafood was briny perfection, the desserts sinful enough to make you stay longer. The place has centuries of stories soaked into its walls, and you can feel every one of them while you eat. Loud, a little chaotic, but that’s exactly the point.
Ratna N — Google review
It had the feel of a traditional Irish pub—cozy, lively, and welcoming. We were seated right away, and the service was quick without feeling rushed. The food came out fast and was really good, with plenty of classic Irish options to choose from. Everything we tried was tasty, and the whole experience was smooth and pleasant from start to finish.

Went here to check out the space of this historical building/place in Galway. (Since 1649.) The King's Head - Blood Red Ale - was on our radar. Cool interior space. And had some very old walls. The ambient red lighting, upstairs, was very cool. And the beers were very good - and on Nitro if I remember right. The staff was just okay. Not real interested in making eye contact, and having to pour a pint or two, it seemed. We didn't eat here, so I'm not sure on the food. Seeing some of the other reviews, it looks like it could be hit or miss.

We stopped in on a Thursday afternoon. We absolutely couldn't pass up a pub that's more than 800 years old. The atmosphere and vibe definitely didn't disappoint. Love the ancient winding architectural nooks and crannies, the fireplace. This place was pretty darn busy on a mid-week afternoon. There were servers to come to your tables and they were flying. We loved it so much that I bought a t-shirt ... I thought I bought a black t-shirt but when we got into normal lighting, found out it's blue. haha. Cool pub.

Delicious food! Great service until it got busy, then it was difficult to get some attention. But we have been there many times now and the food is consistently good and we like the pub very much.
Anjli W — Google review
One of the most touristic hotspots in Galway where finding a table for dinner is always possible but there is always a small waiting line. The food is really good with fresh local ingredients that are well prepared. As for the waiting time, it has always been inferior to the communicated (which is good) and you can always sit at the bar and try many of their beers and other drinks. Staff is nice and efficient, especially considering the turnover of the place.
Tomás F — Google review
Heard this place was good, but unfortunately found it to be just an over priced poorly serviced gimmicky tourist trap. Waited 20mins for an old fashioned on a Monday evening around 7pm not even incredibly busy, and received a watery mess of ice cubes and barely discernible whiskey taste. The food was incredibly over priced for amount and subpar quality. Fish and chips especially was disappointing the fish was soggy, the vinegar was white not malt, and the chips seriously had a microwaved texture. Plus service was so slow even to get the check. Fried crab claws were good simply for the sauce it was served with but again skimpy amount for the price and quality of crab. Definitely would not recommend not even for a tourist photo.

We had a wonderful experience here. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. A great spot for a relaxed and high quality meal.

We enjoyed the dishes, the starter beef croquettes and seafood chowder were both nice. The Irish soda bread was also a pleasant surprise. The entries braised lamb shoulder and sea trout were both done nicely. The waitress was attentive, helpful and friendly. the price is reasonable and we are very happy with the quality of the food and service,

The restaurant is beautifully designed and the food was excellent. We loved the breads! The presentation of all dishes was top notch. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and they seated us after a few minutes. It was very busy though all evening! Definitely recommend having a reservation.

The hake was fresh, moist, and delicious. The Irish beef was extremely tender and packed with flavor. Both salads were absolutely delicious. The service was extremely friendly. I highly recommend eating here. You may need reservations.

Loved this place. It was our first day in Galway and this was a good beginning. We ordered two large glasses of Rose and took in the atmosphere. It's very nice she's cozy inside. They have their a la carte menu as well as a pre theater one and the whole table does not need to participate. So I got their special oysters which were one of the best ones I've had. My daughter got their salmon done in an Asian style with a side of chips. I then got the salmon and the sticky toffee pudding from the pre theater menu. My husband got the prawns, salmon and the sticky toffee pudding. Everything was delicious. Now I'm a sticky toffee pudding snob and this one was average. It didn't have enough sauce. But overall the experience was really good. I would highly recommend it.

The booking process at Brasserie on the Corner was smooth and hassle-free. They were very prompt in replying when I asked to move our reservation to an earlier time ,great customer service from the start. We arrived a bit early and waited briefly, which was totally fine. A gentleman ( believe his name was Rory), kindly guided us to our table. Our server, Neil, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating throughout. I had mentioned in advance that it was my daughter’s birthday, and when I reminded Neil, he didn’t miss a beat. They gave her a lovely surprise, complete with the team singing Happy Birthday and presenting a dessert beautifully plated with “Happy Birthday” written on it. It truly made the moment extra special. Huge thanks to Neil and the team! The food was absolutely delicious. We skipped the starters as we had eaten earlier at a café, but the mains were superb, cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The ambience was spot on,cozy and relaxing. I had requested a quiet, private table, and they granted that perfectly. Everything from service to food to atmosphere was just top-notch. I’m genuinely super impressed with this restaurant. 😍👌 Highly recommended for special occasions or just a quality dining experience in Galway!

McSwiggans Steak + Seafood Restaurant has been an integral part of Galway for over 30 years, evolving from a country store to a beloved sanctuary for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant offers a warm and vibrant atmosphere across three floors, with its traditional ground floor market bar being a local institution.
We had a really nice lunch in here a week ago. The service was really good, the food was tasty, and the restaurant itself is very nice. I had the bacon chop with a delicious sauce, it was really tasty, and the others I was with had the seafood dish which they said was great too. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Had a fantastic meal at McSwiggans in Galway! We were a group of three and were all seriously impressed — the meat dishes were absolutely delicious, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The service was fast and friendly, with staff who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, a great spot for both locals and visitors. Definitely a place I’d return to — highly recommend for anyone looking for quality Irish food in Galway

We had one of the best steaks ever, definitely top 5 in Ireland and it is not as pricey as most steakhouses and restaurants in general. The menu was quite varied and there was a good range of different steak options from good quality Irish beef. They also do not overcook the meat, which is not something to be taken for granted everywhere, if you order medium-rare, they give you medium-rare. The portions are big, and the dips are incredibly good. Looking forward to being back. Also, the staff was polite and friendly.

Lamb stew was excellent. The seafood platter was not what we expected, but it was also good. Environment was nice. I thought I was too old to enjoy live music during a meal, but this was just right- a few Irish tunes and I could still carry on a conversation with my husband. We had a little trouble flagging down a server when we wanted to add to our meal, but they were busy that night.

Get the seafood chowder! Big fan of their Bloody Mary shots with an oyster. The Irish Coffee is strong and if you have a cold they make a mean hot whiskey. Nice atmosphere.

Great pub in Galway! I have been to McSwiggans many times since I’ve arrived in September, and it’s now one of my favourite spots in Galway for great food, warm atmosphere, and friendly service. The mussels were the first thing I tried. Sadly I don’t have a picture to share but they were absolutely Devine, so simple, yet so delicious…a must! I wanted to especially acknowledge Barbara, who has been one of the kindest and most attentive people I’ve met here. From the very first time I visited, she made the experience feel welcoming and memorable; she brings such personality, professionalism, and genuine care to her work. As someone who also works in hospitality, I know how much effort goes into creating those small, meaningful connections with customers. Barbara represents the best of what makes Galway’s restaurant scene so special. I truly hope her dedication is seen and valued. People like her make guests return again and again. I highly recommend you try this spot out!

Linnane's Lobster Bar is a charming 300-year-old cottage with full-length windows offering stunning views of Galway Bay. This renowned spot specializes in seafood, particularly their signature dish, lobster. Additionally, they serve clams, scallops, salmon, and crab claws. The restaurant occasionally features chicken and beef dishes as well. Situated near the Burren, Linnane's is famous for its Flaggy Shore oysters and traditional Irish music.
An unforgettable seafood experience at Linnane’s! Stopped in to Linnane’s Lobster Bar in New Quay around midday and was lucky to be seated without a booking — though I’d absolutely recommend calling ahead during busy times, as this place is deservedly popular. The seafood was nothing short of spectacular. You can taste the freshness in every bite. I had lobster that had been caught the very same morning — sweet, tender, and perfectly cooked. The shellfish platter was equally impressive: oysters, mussels, and crab, all fresh from the sea and beautifully prepared. Of course, everything goes down best with a creamy pint of Guinness, and Linnane’s pours a perfect one. I also have to shout out the brown bread — hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. Dense, nutty, and still warm from the oven, it was the perfect companion to the shellfish and chowder. The setting only adds to the magic — stunning views over the water and the surrounding countryside make it a joy to sit and linger. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this place is a gem not to be missed. Can’t wait to return!

This restaurant was a random find. We just wanted to catch the sunset and we found this restaurant down the same road we happened to turn down. The oysters were absolutely memorable. Wow-just wow. The mignonette was so flavorful and was a great pairing. The chowder with the loaf/bread was incredible. Chock full of different seafood and so delicious. The restaurant was in a picturesque location. The restaurant was really too warm but I suppose if that’s the worst thing-it’s really not worth a mention.

One of the best food experiences I’ve had recently, everything we had was absolutely incredible! If anything I wish we could have had the entire menu because it all sounded amazing. The special oysters in vodka sauce with pancetta and crispy onions were the highlight. Can’t wait to go back again soon for more and more!

We shared the lobster, giant prawns, calamari and some bread. Honestly wish we had ordered more. The potatoes that came with the lobster were so crispy. The prawns were a little on the spicy side. My son ate all the calamari so I assume it was delicious. It does get messy so they do offer you a finger bowl to clean off your hands.

Such a great mix in this seafood platter; fresh, juicy, and full of flavour! 🦞🦐🦪 The crispy potatoes were so tasty too. A perfect meal for a seafood lover like me. Beautiful location, just right by the sea... Highly recommend!

The view was great and the food was fabulous. Our group had the steak, lobster, and seafood platter for two. Steak and lobster meals were perfect, the seafood platter had clams, mussel's, shrimp, and lobster. I have had mussels and clams before and was not the biggest fan but these clams and mussels were out of this world. Changed my whole perspective on both. Don’t know if I’ll ever have as tasty or fresh (the were bringing them in from the ocean as we ate) clams or mussels again but wow!!!

Some of the best oysters I’ve ever had. Grilled lobster was delicious. To top it off they pour a fantastic and creamy pint of Guinness. Only thing missing was maybe some proper napkins…lobster got a bit messy 😅

I love a good seafood chowder and was on something of a mission to try as many as I could in Ireland on this trip. Linnane’s Lobster Bar served up the absolute best of all: smoked salmon, hake, haddock, cod, carrots, celery, rich creamy base. Brown bread (Irish soda bread) that came with the chowder was excellent.

O'Dowd's Seafood Bar and Restaurant is a historic fourth-generation establishment located in Roundstone, offering stunning views of the harbor. The restaurant is known for its fresh seafood, including lobster, mussels, prawns, and crab sourced directly from local boats. Additionally, they serve Connemara lamb and vegan options like dillisk rice with locally sourced vegetables.
We ordered the : Chowder - amazing and you can find generous peaces of fish in there. Garlic Bread - very good too! Fish and chips - so nice and fresh that you could see the fish skin in it, and the chips were so crisp and dried. Blue cheese chicken - simple and lovely, so well seasoned and tasty, served with mash which was unbelievably delicious and simple as it is. The bread they serve at the start which is divine and we had to ask for some more. The view, the staff, the food were all amazing and this place was actually a recommendation of one of our friends, and definitely a must go spot to visit and have a great Irish local food!

Went here for dinner in mid October, so it was quiet but in off season. The staff were friendly and they were really flexible with the menu (served us some of the bar food in the restaurant, made some small substitutions). The food was very good, the Seafood au Gratin was particularly delicious, and the Shepard’s pie and fish curry were well received. Unfortunately, the soft drinks are served warm with ice which means they go flat quickly. The crumble was very nice but only comes with either ice or whipped cream when it really needs custard or pouring (out of the two I’d go for ice cream). The prices are reasonable for the quality. It was right next to our air bnb and we happily went back several times, so overall would really recommend!

I realise this is the low season but was very disappointed with the quality of food and drink here. The two young ladies serving were really welcoming and friendly, although we waited a fair while for our order to arrive. We were the only people in here although a couple arrived a few minutes after us and their order came first! The view is truly stunning from the upper floor. We had two fruit smoothies: I'm almost certain they were just frozen fruits as they tasted just like what you'd make at home with a Tesco mixed berry mix. At €5.50 each, I guess I just expected them to be fresh. Like I say, it's not the high season so perhaps that's why as I've seen that they say they source local produce/grow their own normally. The two raisin scones were nice but I think they had been microwaved to warm up which meant they'd gone dry with a dense texture. Very ungenerous with the butter and jam: 1 small individual butter portion per scone and a heaped teaspoon of jam (which was very tasty). I did ask for more of each but they'd run out of jam, so perhaps that's explains the meagre portion. €3.50 each. All in all, I wouldn't be returning, even for the view. I've given 4* overall to reflect poor food but very nice staff and excellent surroundings.
Kelly N — Google review
It was a nice experience and I would definitely recommend to eat here. The food was good and nothing wrong with it, but it lacked that special something to deserve 5 stars. For example, the mussels promised to have chilli and I only found some lost flakes at the bottom of the bowl. Prices are ok. The service was friendly and fast. It's a typical pub atmosphere, and some tables have a view to the sea.

Our visit was a call back visit after 20 years to experience the place again. Nothing has changed in the interm, the same decor, the same good food. This is the place to enjoy the best in fresh fish. The Chowder is exceptional.

The Pier Head Bar and Restaurant in Kinvara exceeded all expectations! We ordered local Irish beer, fish and chips (haddock), lamb, and the seafood trio — and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and flaky, the lamb was tender and flavorful, and the seafood trio was a highlight with generous portions and perfect seasoning. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with stunning views of the harbor that made the meal even more special. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. A great view of the bay from most windows. Seating available in a Friday at 2PM. We got seafood chowder which was nice and creamy and had a good amount of seafood. Nice flavor too. That comes with bread, both brown and white and butter. Also ordered some battered mushrooms which came with salad, was so so. Service was good until it was time to checkout we had to chase them down lol. It was packed, you think they'd want us out but no rush so. Dinner menu looked pretty good too.

Recommended to us by Fallon’s B&B. I was a bit apprehensive when I sat down and saw the prices - it was a little more than I usually like to spend, but OMG the food was so mouth-wateringly good it was worth every penny! The service was excellent too, very friendly and attentive staff without being overbearing. The fish of the day (Seabass) came with a dreamy buttery white wine sauce - 100% recommend!

Great service and nice atmosphere. Local and nice simultaneously. The food is very mediocre if I’m being kind. I got shrimp that was probably a 300-400% markup and not fresh at all. Stick to the red meat or something local and avoid the prawns. My mistake. Overpriced but get that they need to survive.

Beautiful little inn, only 14 rooms, very clean and the only hotel/inn that had washcloths during our 12 days in Scotland and Ireland! We stayed here 2 nights at the end of our trip as Galway has THE best shopping! The a/c doesn’t work particularly well in Ireland but the windows do open for fresh air! The inn had a private party going on with live music on a Sunday night that kept us awake until 12:15 am! That’s why 4* for the room! Just ask and request a room not above the bar or restaurant!
Debi G — Google review
Came in here for a pint with my girlfriend as my hotel bar was overcrowded, we were greeted by a very passive aggressive Eastern European man at the bar, I ordered a Guinness whilst my girlfriend ordered an orange juice, she is unable to drink as she is sick concurrently. Said individual brings a pint of orchard thieves over despite orange juice sounding completely different phonetically to orchard thieves, my girlfriend requests if they have any other choices of juice at the bar and this bartender keeps saying "Look Look Look" so we go for water instead, very mediocre customer service and the quality of my Guinness was quite disappointing as a result of the price I had to pay 6.30€ which is Dublin prices, I will not be back here, other staff members seemed quite nice though

We had dinner here the first night we were in Galway. Unfortunately, we weren't able to stay at the inn as they were fully booked when we tried to get reservations. We met our family so there were 7 of us seated at the table. The service was good. The place was very busy, as it was a Saturday evening. But the servers did a very good job and were quite friendly. The food was delicious! The drinks were great. We had a great time hanging out with our family. On Sunday we came back and sat on their patio and played card games. We asked first, of course, and they said it was fine. No one was out there because it was cold and rainy. But we enjoyed our time. It was really nice they allowed that. W I would recommend this restaurant and would come back if we ever returned to Galway. Our kids stayed at the inn and said that it was very nice.

Absolutely outstanding experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and beautifully styled — the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. What really impressed us, though, was the thoughtful attention to gluten-free options. As someone who has to eat gluten-free, it’s such a treat to find a restaurant that not only accommodates but excels in it. We enjoyed the roast lamb and the fish pie, both of which were packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The lamb was tender and full of rich, savory notes, while the fish pie was comforting and creamy without feeling heavy. And yes — both completely gluten free! Dessert was another highlight. The chocolate nut dessert was indulgent and satisfying, while the pavlova was light, crisp, and topped with the freshest fruit — a perfect end to the meal. Again, all gluten free and absolutely delicious. The staff were fantastic — friendly, knowledgeable, and professional throughout, striking that perfect balance of attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended. We’ll definitely be back!

Black cat did not disappoint in any way. A beautiful intimate setting in a period building in salthill . The staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so. The food was outstanding. So much so we ordered most of the menu!! Perfectly cooked and very well presented and a taste sensation hard off to the chefs. Also very reasonably priced for the quality. It’s the perfect place to meet family or friends or as we had a very nice romantic date night . Myself and my partner both agreed it’s the best tapas we have ever had in Ireland. Do yourself a favor and book a table 😊

Stayed recently for a business trip and it was perfect for what I needed. Very reasonably priced, the rooms are spotless and better than some hotels I have stayed in. Check In,Check out was seamless. This would suit a couple visiting Galway and who want to stay away from the main hotels. You are 50 metres from salthill promenade and the view of galway bay and have your pick of restuarants within 100 metres. Ill be back to try the food and will stay here again if in Galway. I seen some comments about how small the rooms are, reminds me of In Bruge and not going up the tower. They are fine as long as you arent obese.

This is our go to restaurant. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere is very welcoming and chilled, the service is excellent and the prosecco and wine are always delicious! We usually go here in a group of between 2 and 6. It is a cosy restaurant. You do need to book in advance as this is a well known, busy restaurant. There is a large variety of tapas, each one bursting with different flavours -the chef knows how to pair/complement different flavours and tastes. The tapas come out as they are ready and the whole experience is very relaxed. I keep meaning to try other restaurants in Galway but I just cannot pass The Black Cat when I'm feeling like a nice evening out.

Gastropub
Seafood restaurant
Pádraicíns Seafood Gastropub is a charming and cozy pub with maritime-themed rooms and a seafood restaurant that offers live music. The bar is adorned with nautical decor, creating an authentic sea-inspired atmosphere. Guests can enjoy a unique sea view from the patio area on sunny days or relax in the beautifully decorated indoor bar and events space. The restaurant provides a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for enjoying wine, music, and conversation over delectable French cuisine.
This place never fails to impress. Food was fantastic and although we foolishly hadn't pre-booked a table, we weren't waiting long to be seated. The place was full and yet food was served with little to no waiting time and as always, it was impeccable.

Nice place to stay the night; Checkin fast/easy, nice and clean room, everything you need. Towel heater not working. Dinner was serve quick hot and good portions. Efficient nice staff, I’ll come back ! 🍻

A warm welcome, varied menu options, something for everyone. Friendly professional service. Amazingly good food and enormous portions . The fish pie has to be the best I think I’ve ever tasted (and I’ve eaten a few!)

Lovely area! Nice place to sit outside, beautiful view. Food was good and priced well also. I don't believe they had Beamish but I did get a Muprhys so at least they had that! Glad we did a slight detour for this meal. Sept 15, 2024.

A wee gem of a find just outside Galway! For was amazing, views outstanding, staff lovely, Accomodation top quality! I will be back

Excellent food in an outworldly location. The pub, directly at a georgeous beach, is overlooking the sea. You can choose seats inside and outside. The staff could have not been friendlier and more helpful. We turned up, unannounced, with a big group of 21 people and they made it possible for us. Thank you for a marvellous dinner!!!

Everything about the restaurant was great! Food was delicious! Fish & chips were a favorite as well as the Baked Hake dinner. The servers were helpful and friendly. Easy parking next to the building. Highly recommend!

Dillisk On the Docks, located at The Harbour Hotel in Galway, offers a unique dining experience with a maritime theme. The restaurant features a bright and open space perfect for savoring the finest seafood dishes. Visitors are also encouraged to try their nautical weekend brunch for an unforgettable experience. Situated in the scenic neighborhood of The Docks, guests can enjoy unbeatable views across the River Corrib from The Claddagh.
Chicken was amazing as well as the brown bread. Would have loved more vegetarian/gluten free options. I also liked the salmon. The service was nice and very convenient to our hotel.

Just don't order the wings. They are basically pigeon wings with mayo, not bleu cheese as stated. However, the hotel is wonderful and the chowder was very good. The breakfast is decent. But get there early, for they run out of potatoes and eggs. You really don't want to miss the eggs; they're perfect.
Kyjode D — Google review
One of the worst sandwiches I ate. I ordered a chicken and stuffing sandwich, it came with only chicken (that was cold) and rocket leaves. I had to ask a waiter for the stuffing. My boyfriend asked for the turkey sandwich that is supposed to have turkey, avocado, bacon and mayo. It came with only chicken meat and rocket leaves, no sign of the rest of the ingredients. I would strongly recommend not to eat in there. Very disappointing.

We stayed at the Harbour hotel next door and didn’t even check the rating of the place when we went there. I am surprised by this rating. The food was good. The breakfast is a buffet style and very decent.

***** A TRANQUIL RETREAT ***** What to know before dining at Dillisk -> It was our last night in Galway, and with having to pack, we lacked the energy to venture out into the commotion of the street life. So a quiet night at Dillisk it was. The four of us opted for light fare. Know that the vegetable soup is creamy, not broth-based, with puréed broccoli I think. Sadly, the spinach and orange salad was uninspired. No dressing. Just baby spinach leaves, tangerine wedges, and crumbled feta in a cup. On the other hand, the chicken pie with bleu cheese from the previous night’s dinner (see photo) was a brilliant nouveau interpretation of the traditional Irish dish! Lastly, the menu offers a nice selection of Irish whiskies including hard-to-find Roe & Co. They appeared to be understaffed with just one server who was on break when it was time to check out. But the barman covered nicely for him. All-in-all, a relaxing last evening in Galway.
John K — Google review
Great seafood chowder and perfectly cooked fish and chips - what more do you need for lunch? Worth visiting if nearby. The only downside is parking can be a little challenging if you don't want to pay for the nearby parking garage (~€2.20)
Alex — Google review
Food was not good. Chicken wings were pink/red in colour, they were soggy and lukewarm in temperature at best. My brother got a chicken burger that was totally over cooked, it was actually burnt. He didn’t end up eating it at all. Service was below average, very slow and not overly helpful. Interior decor was nice. Will not be returning
Sarah E — Google review
Great food and service. Poor acoustics makes loud guests unbearable. It's bad enough to avoid altogether.

Sushi restaurant
City Sushi Galway, located at The Docks, offers an authentic taste of Japanese cuisine with a focus on fresh seafood. Their signature sushi rolls are simple yet bursting with flavors, providing a high-quality dining experience. In addition to sushi, the restaurant also offers bento boxes and sharing platters for those who want to sample a variety of dishes. Despite its unconventional location within a fish distributor storefront, the quality of the food is exceptional and surpasses expectations.
The food is super fresh and absolutely delicious. We had a lot of vegetarian dishes and they were so much more varied than the usual offerings in other sushi places. Our server Elio was lovely as well! We will definitely be back!
Jennie O — Google review
We chose City Sushi Galway based on the glowing reviews and the cool, offbeat location in the docks. Unfortunately, our experience was absolutely awful. We ordered two standard sushi rolls from the limited menu: salmon avocado and shrimp tempura. Then we waited. And waited even longer. After nearly an hour, we still had no food and received no updates. Incredibly, the couple who arrived after us were served, ate, and left while we sat there completely ignored. When we finally asked how much longer the wait would be, the response was “another 10 minutes.” We tried to be patient, hoping for some kind of acknowledgment or apology. Instead, there was nothing. No explanation, no effort to make things right. At that point, it was already 8:45pm. With most Galway restaurants closing at 9:30, we had no choice but to leave without eating. The restaurant was not crowded and there was no wait. To make matters worse, we were still charged €8 for a sake and €3.50 for a Coke. No accountability, no effort to own the mistake, just a bill and an empty table. If you are visiting Galway, do yourself a favor and skip City Sushi. Choose one of the central Japanese spots instead, where you can expect real food, proper service, and basic respect for your time. [Update after owner response:] Thank you for responding. I appreciate the offer, but I won’t be returning. The lack of communication, the long wait without explanation, and the fact that no manager was visible or present to address the situation left a poor impression. I hope our experience helps highlight areas for improvement so future guests are treated with better care.

City Sushi Galway is absolutely deadly! The food is pure class, so tasty and fresh! You can really tell the quality is top-notch. The staff are sound and the menu is full of delicious combos! Honestly, it’s a real treat and I’d 100% recommend popping in if you’re in Galway. 🍣
Melina P — Google review
During our organized bus trip, we decided to spend most of our time in Galway enjoying a nice meal. I think we found a real hidden gem, as we were the only ones there. Hopefully that changes, so we’re leaving a few photos here. The fish was super fresh and delicious, you could really taste the best of the sea. Our waiter was also incredibly kind and helpful.
Szilvia — Google review
I hate to give a bad review but the vegetarian option I had was terrible. I got the tofu teriyaki bento box and the only nice thing about it was the rice and edamame beans. Honestly the tofu was the worst I’ve ever had in my life, I didn’t get any taste of teriyaki from it and it was all hard/crispy. There was 3 types of sushi in the box, super basic tastes. Two very similar and one with cucumber and cream cheese. I personally find cream cheese in sushi off putting. The gyozas weren’t the best and I didn’t enjoy the salad much, it was just picked cucumber really. There was way too much emphasis on cucumber in the whole box. It was €20 and a big disappointment. I also had some of my partners miso soup which was okay but very salty with no nori seaweed. I had shimeji mushrooms too which were lovely. Two of the people I was with had sushi which they enjoyed and another person had the same as me and was also incredibly disappointed. The staff were lovely and very attentive, no complaints there.

At the Docks, where the work geht's done, is this excellent Sushi and fish restaurant located. Good service, best quality and fair prices. Never had a better sashimi in my life.
Florian K — Google review
A hidden spot in Galway, should visit this restaurant, if you a big fan of sushi. I'd say the best sushi restaurant in Galway. The restaurant is just in next the fish shop, if you're a bit sensitive of fish smell then it'd be good to take away. But for me, the smell doesn't bother at all, friendly staff, nice price, and enough space to park. I'd definitely visit or/and order again. They also have a good enough wine.
S P — Google review
Best Japanese food in Galway and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it is also the best in the whole island of Ireland. The portions are just the right size, you can tell everything is prepared with fresh ingredients and the menu selection is just divine. The staff is absolutely the best too. We are lucky to have City Sushi Galway. I am always happy anytime I order anything from them. Highly recommended.

Hostel
Savoy Hostel Galway City Centre is a vibrant and straightforward accommodation option that offers free breakfast and Wi-Fi. The hostel features a lively common room with pool tables, widescreen TVs, and a jukebox for entertainment. Guests appreciate the fantastic facilities such as individual reading lights, charging points on each bed, and overall cleanliness.
The dormitory is quiet and there's enough space even in the room with most beds. Above the bed there's a small shelf where to charge your devices and put your stuff. The bathroom is large and clean. There's also a nice common room whit a pool table and where you can cook your dinner or breakfast.
Marco B — Google review
DO NOT GO HERE!! There are many points I could address in this review but I'll keep it to a list of points 1. The beds are very hard (and to small for anyone over 180cm) 2. The kitchen is very small 3. They don't even have a frying pan in the kitchen so I couldn't even bake an egg in the morning 4. The shower had no curtain or whatever so if you took a shower the entire bathroom would get wet 5. There was a different smell in every room 6. The toaster at breakfast smells like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time and as if something has burned inside of it. So all in all the location is pretty decent but the things they provide for you are heavily below standard compared to the price you pay for it. This was the most expensive hostel on our trip but it was also the worst one so whatever you do, do not go here!
Thomas L — Google review
Staff was great and friendly. There's an amazing pub crawl near by for 15 euro. The free breakfast was decent (toast, cereal, canned fruit, tea , coffee, juice, yogurt). The bathroom ceiling was covered in mold. Water didn't stay in the showed and covered the floor in the bathroom. Everything was great apart from the bathroom, but I would not stay here again because of it.
Chris-Sam M — Google review
Loved my many stays in Savoy. Great location, very quiet, modern and clean, other guests are very pleasant and respectful. Bathrooms are hotel quality and beds very comfy. Staff are also very helpful, with 24h reception. Cannot think of a negative! Highly recommended.
Seán T — Google review
Nice comfy beds, very central hostel. Small kitchen not well equipped. The cleaning of the kitchen also was an issue the 4 days I stayed in. Guest didn't clean and staff had to do it only because I told it was really dirty. Hostel need to improve the supervision in this place in order to keep it clean. Definitely not returning.
Rodrigo A — Google review
Nice location in the center, nice common room. However the rooms are quite dirty, no curtain in the beds, and the badly made bathroom (shower curtain too small making for a flood everytime, wc button behind the lid...) never cleaned during our stay. Warm welcome by the staff. The breakfast is very limited.
Pika C — Google review
Incredibly dirty and dusty to the point where my friend had several asthma attacks. The whole place felt like it hadn't been cleaned properly in years. Breakfast was also very limited without milk or hot water since the dispensers were broken. The only pro is the great location but it's not worth destroying your health for.
Nyxadora — Google review
Amazing hostel! Could have mistaken this for a hotel, it is so clean and spacious. Great location, incredibly friendly staff, spacious rooms. The included breakfast was also delicious and had a variety of continental options although a full Irish breakfast was also offered at a reasonable cost. Definitely recommend this hostel! Best I've come across at this price.

I've been on a lot of food tours and this was one of the best! Emma was an excellent tour guide, so sweet and she took the time to get to know everyone in the group. This food tour had such a variety of food: coffee, raspberry croissants, seafood chowder, sushi, ice cream and so much more! What a great way to experience the wonderful city of Galway. Make sure you come hungry so you can enjoy all the yummy food and drinks!

This is a great tour if you are looking to spend a good while of your stay in Galway learning about it’s culinary history, the hot spots for a bite or a meal, and the origins of the best treats and drinks in Ireland. Also the tour guide was very friendly, as they say in Ireland, “great craic!”

Be sure to make Galway Food Tours your top priority when planning your visit to Galway! Sheena is an incredible source of information on both the city's culinary scene and its rich historical background. During our tour, we indulged in an array of delights, from delectable coffee and pastries to freshly shucked oysters, mussels, stews, breads, sandwiches, and an assortment of refreshing drinks. The enthusiasm shown by every restaurant and food vendor we visited when Sheena walked in was truly remarkable. Sheena's passion for Galway left a lasting impression on us, prompting our return just a few months after our initial visit. In addition to the delightful tour, she generously shared her personal list of favorite pubs, restaurants, and live music venues, which greatly enriched our independent explorations. As an owner of tour companies in both NYC and Florida, I was thoroughly impressed by Sheena's expertise and dedication. Don't overlook Galway Food Tours if you want to make the most of your Galway experience!

Absolutely fantastic food tour! Took it with my husband and friend we had the best time! A fun assortment of really tasty food and wonderful stories about Galway. Couldn’t recommend it more!

What a wonderful way to experience Galways food scene. There are just way too many options for fabulous dining in the city. Taking the tour helps you get delicious small plates from several places. It was so worth the time and money. Would do it again.

Michelle was a fantastic guide! My husband & I loved all of the stops on the tour, & it was so fun to sample some of the local restaurants, chocolatiers, coffee shops & bakeries. You can tell that each stop & tasting is carefully chosen- the owner wants you to explore & learn about the locals & their shops. Highly recommend!

It's a must for every foodie, visiting Galway or local! Fantastic experience with many different tastes and spots visited around town. Best tour you'll have!
Julia D — Google review
The Galway Food Tour was the highlight of my family's Irish vacation! Each of the restaurants and shops we visited were uniquely delicious. Our tour guide was so friendly, eloquent, and just a gem. We ended up going back to a few of the stops after the tour to purchase some goodies. Everyone absolutely loved this tour. It is worth every penny and minute!
Katie G — Google review
The guide was lovely and they were very careful about allergies, which we really appreciated, but honestly for the price and the description, I sort of expected a bit more food. Don't get me wrong, the food we had was lovely, but I ate everything offered to me and still had to get dinner afterwards. That's pretty disappointing! I suspect it's partly because the tour included spirits and a cocktail, but I would rather have left those off and actually had enough to eat.
