Japanese restaurant
The sushi restaurant Sushi Shin Jb in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, is a three-star Michelin sushi restaurant that was founded by chef Miyakawa. The menu features Edo-mae sushi, which is made with traditional ingredients, and the restaurant also specializes in sushi dishes (appetizers) that contain umami. The ambience of the japanese restaurant is elegant and it has gained acclaim for its creative fusion of Japanese cuisine with Malaysian flavors.
Thank you to the very friendly and handsome Chef Michael for making my wife's birthday a very memorable and special one! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with the excellent service and mouth-watering food! Chef Michael is really experienced and takes pride in his craft, not one to rest on his laurels, he is continually innovating and we are the lucky 'test subjects' 🤣! Will definitely come back again to patronise this fine establishment! Wish him and the team all the success in the world!

Opted for the Hoshi omakase meal with high includes a 10 course sushi, zensai, cold dish, chawanmushi, dessert and soup. The ambiance was intimate and serene with neutral-like decoration. The demonstration presentation of the dishes were neat. The chef's explanations of each dish added an educational layer to the experience, allowing us to appreciate the thought and technique behind every plate. Main highlight was the shrimp-foie gras-caviar nigiri. The foie gras was so perfectly cooked and delicious that it melted in my mouth 🥹. The second main highlight was the octopus legs, it was super tender. The pacing can be improved to allow us to savor each bite without feeling rushed

Shin matches the Michelin star grade restaurant I experienced. All staffs are on point. Toliets are clean and very well maintained. Aphrodisiac meal effects from the oyster and many fatty fishes 😍

Ordered RM 468 ++ lunch set with a bottle of sake. Quite full from the portion. Food (4/5): Overall was good. Only feedback is maybe you should put some thoughts into your soup. Was quite simple just salmon miso soup. Service (4/5): Great service, very attentive to customers’ need Atmosphere (4/5): Clean toilet, toto toilet bowl

Just had an amazing lunch experience at Sushi Shin. Decided to splurge on the Hoshi Omakase for my first time here, and I'm glad I did. The seafood was very fresh, and the pairings were well thought out. Will definitely return.
RM N — Google review
Omasake. Many think of it as the experience of the cuisine. Sushi Shin lifts it up to another level. An unassuming facade with a sliding door opens up into a bright uplifting interior. It brings out the zen of minimalism. The staffs were very friendly and are very attentive to your needs. From providing a cloth crate to keep your bag, to explaining the uncommon utensil for each meal. We were served by the new Head Chef Michael. He was jovial and very professional. Every dish was made with care and focus. An introduction was done to ensure we would be able to enjoy what we are consuming. We truly enjoyed ourselves and we can see that each aspect is really done from the "heart"(Shin).

Went for their lunch omakase on a Thursday. Fresh fish, good flavours. Very friendly chef & wait staff. Service was amazing.
A L — Google review
The most impressive Omakase experience I have had in a very long while! Tasted textures, temperatures and flavors that I had never come across before! It is no surprise as the chefs informed us that each ingredient is originally sourced and of the highest quality. The chefs themselves are humorous, attentive to customers' needs, and patient in explaining each dish. Their passion and heart for delivering the best culinary experience and customer care is clearly evident. The supporting crew members are very helpful, friendly and responsibe as well. Overall, Sushi Shin JB has captured the hearts of my family members and I. We look forward to our next visit.

Binchotan JB is a unique dining destination that offers a modern Omakase experience, allowing diners to witness the entire kitchen process. The restaurant boasts delicious and visually stunning dishes, making it an ideal spot for special occasions like Valentine's Day. With its cozy and peaceful ambiance, the interior combines modern style with traditional Japanese design. The friendly and creative chefs engage with guests, sharing insights about the ingredients as they prepare each dish.
Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was incredibly delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we ordered exceeded our expectations. The Irish duck was the highlight for me but the scallop and cod was great too. The service was just as impressive — friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell the staff really care about creating a great experience for their guests. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for amazing food and top-notch service.
A A — Google review
Meticulous and precise in plating and arrangement. Food presentation is visually pleasing. Taste on most courses are on point except for hot dish and unquestionable import food quality. Ambience is great and service par excellence. Takes pain to give customers good happy dining experience. Good for celebrations and anniversary occasions due to pricey considerations. Quite exceptional overall standard! Will return.
Guanaun T — Google review
An absolutely delightful dining experience! Each plate felt thoughtfully designed, showcasing both creativity and precision. The flavors were harmonious yet distinctive, making every bite feel intentional and meaningful. a meal into an experience worth remembering. Definitely a place I’d encourage anyone to try if they’re seeking something refined. I’ll return soon!
Celine T — Google review
Impressive! The food in my opinion is better than some michelins or those in list of best restaurants in Asia that I've been to in sg. Their service and ambience are flawless too. I do not normally post reviews unless I find the place is exceptionally good so worth sharing, or the other way around. This place is def worth for me to make a trip back to jb for another round.
Chew C — Google review
Been wanting to check this restaurant out for quite a while ... Finally today and with a last minute reservation. Beautiful food both palette and palate. Balance of flavours was beautiful. Wonderfully fresh ingredients, ingredients that they create from scratch and harmonise together beautifully. One should be here to listen to the chef put the plates together to complete the overall experience ... Just wow! :) attentiveness of the service here also deserves mention.
Evan N — Google review
Overall, I had a pleasant experience, largely thanks to the wonderful service. The staff were attentive, warm, and truly elevated the entire meal with their immaculate hospitality. The food, however, was a bit of a mixed bag. Some dishes were genuinely outstanding. The cod and duck in particular were beautifully executed and packed with flavour. On the other hand, the truffle kamameshi and soup were underwhelming. The kamameshi lacked flavour and felt rather tasteless, while the soup leaned too salty. All in all, it was an okay dining experience that was significantly lifted by the excellent service. More consistency in the food quality would’ve made this a five star experience.
Liang — Google review
Binchotan is really a gem of omakase. From the time you step in, you knew it was special. We were a bit apprehensive at first as we were the only patrons but shortly after a group joined us. Every dish was introduced by the chef who spoke really good English and went into every step and ingredients that goes into every dish. Can see every dish is his masterpiece and pride. Every dish was meticulous, exquisite and carefully crafteddown to the sauces. Every one is aplomb with fusion of tastes. So much effort that goes into every dish. Everything was wonderful and if there is just a complaint is there were 2 dishes with runny yolks which probably was a 🐥 too much lol Overall really a gastronomic journey we throughly enjoyed.

We had lunch today (9th Nov) and got food poisoning. We didn’t have anything on that day so confirmed the food poisoning is caused by the un fresh ingredients. The meal is not cheap and now we need to pay more for the doctor consultation

Japanese restaurant
Nestled in the bustling area of Mount Austin, Warakuya Japanese Restaurant stands out with its prime corner location and distinctive tall building. The interior is tastefully adorned with wooden elements and bamboo accents, creating an authentic Japanese ambiance. This local favorite is known for its affordable prices and use of fresh ingredients.
I recently visited Warakuya Japanese Restaurant in Johor Bahru, and it was truly one of the best Japanese dining experiences I’ve had in the city. Not only was the food top-notch in terms of taste and quality, but the prices were also incredibly reasonable for the generous portions we received. At first, I was skeptical when my sister told me how good it was — but I was completely wrong! Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I was so impressed that I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic and affordable Japanese cuisine!
Yu Q — Google review
Food is relatively large in portion and reasonably priced. VIP membership grants you 10% discount with free fruit platter. Long queue expected during peak hours especially during weekends so prepare to wait. Service is excellent as well and the wait is not too long after seated. Highly recommended but on-site parking is a challenge.
Victor T — Google review
Nice place but a bit dated. This place always draw crowds and long queue. So, I went at 11.30am and try. Three booklets of menus… so many choices to target almost everybody. Ordered a salmon maki, Chirashi Sushi and Beef on hot plate. Food came half an hour later, a bit longer than expected. Chirashi : good quality variety. Cut ain’t that generous. The most importantly is that the Sushi rice is too overpowered by vinegar. Its price reasonable inexpensive. The Beef on Hot Plate : tasty, lots of onions and bean sprout, but rather than more beef. Note : they are good in putting in effort in decorating their dishes with flowers. Chocolate pudding is free, which I usually don’t eat because I don’t know long it was sitting in the fridge?
TK — Google review
The spicy Yaki Udon and sizzling Teppan Beef truly stole the show for us at Warakuya Pelangi. The Yaki Udon was perfectly balanced with savory soy sauce, and the chewy noodles added to its appeal. Meanwhile, the Teppan Beef was an explosion of flavor, with juicy slices of meat that delighted our taste buds. No wonder this spot has amassed so many rave reviews on Google!
Boon Y — Google review
We came here pretty late at 10pm, and food was served pretty fast. It was quite late and most of the sashimi were sold out. Items were fresh and nice. Price is reasonable. 2 rows of parking right in front of the restaurant.
Jasmine C — Google review
Value for price food. Sashimi was fresh, satisfying cut plus fresh wasabi. Had the katsu Don... good portion, tasty. Tempura was fresh and crunchy, as it should be. Miso tofu was a bit too salty. Overall a good meal! Will be back to try out other dishes. Expect a longer wait during peak dinner time though.
Jodie Y — Google review
Recommended to make reservations via the mobile app as there is a long queue for walk-ins. Food was of high quality and presentable (with nice plating), especially the salmon was of thick cut. Highly recommended. Total damage was RM250 for 4 pax as we ordered mains and numerous sides.
KH S — Google review
1st visit here for lunch.. Normally long waiting time to get a table especially on weekends and holidays. Food is good price reasonable cheap. Refer to menu for all prices… some are high priced with quality. Portion is big too.. Tastes is good. Not recommended coming on weekends.

Asian restaurant
Kirishima Shuzou Japanese Restaurant, located within the elegant Crystal Crown Hotel, offers a grand dining experience with its exquisite Japanese cuisine prepared by skilled Japanese chefs. The dishes are delicately flavored using top-quality ingredients and refined recipes that have been perfected over time. The restaurant also boasts a wide selection of sake, allowing guests to elevate their dining experience into a complete gastronomical journey.
Superb experience! The interior decor really reminded me of the Izakayas I would frequent in Japan. The menu was wide and innovative, the quality of the dishes were on par with the stuff you would get from Japan too. Service staff were friendly and attentive, and food was served quite quickly. The only slight criticism I would have is that the portions were slightly small for the price, but make no mistake I think it's still worth a visit.
Jun — Google review
Hit and misses. What we love about this place was its lovely beef, simple Japanese street fares like oden. However we were quite disappointed with the squid (too tough), the yakitori (too tough) and tempura (too oily). Sake choices are alright but more towards higher end/priced options. The toilet (not restaurant's fault as it's under the hotel) was horrendous. Price is on the higher side.
Yong G — Google review
Ordered Ika maruyashi, kirishima special roll, kurobuta tonteki, shiromi mix, salmon oyako mori and tsukune. All other food are good espcially the sashimi, however a great disappointment with the ika maruyashi, served terribly cold, flavour and texture is off. Such a let down for a supposedly authentic japanese restaurant in a hotel.
Lee J — Google review
Price is tally with the quality, overall was good. We ate at lunch time, appointment in advance (booking is easy and user friendly, sms confirm and remind the booking). Set meal super good deal, beef on rock pan must try, fresh and melted in mouth.
溫梅玉 — Google review
Went with family for a birthday function so we booked a private room for this. The environment was good. There were plenty of comics for customers to explore. Food wise was great, the Sashimi was fresh, decent portion. BBQ stews was smoky and well charred. We actually ordered A LOT but didn’t manage to snap photo for all. The only complaint is that the staffs kept forgettting our orders but couldn’t blame them since the total dish we ordered this night is more than 30 dishes. Overall quite satisfied on this hidden gem in JB.
Joseph T — Google review
Our recent dining experience at the restaurant was highly satisfactory. The staff demonstrated exceptional courtesy and helpfulness, contributing to a pleasant ambiance reminiscent of an authentic Japanese izakaya. Moreover, the culinary offerings were remarkably delectable and fresh, leaving a positive impression on us.
Eddie L — Google review
I really am not sure how did this restaurant get 4.2 stars reviews. We waited for 20 mins for food to arrive and the food that were supposed to be hot were COLD. Tempuras is cold, Saba fish and all fried and grilled is COLD. Sushi is DRIED AND NOT FRESH. CHAWAMUSHI is tasteless. Like really, did people who ate the CHAWAMUSHI there not find it crappy? How can you go wrong with CHAWAMUSHI for a Japanese restaurant? We spent $111.35 for our dinner and it’s a total waste of my time and money. Definitely not going back there for a second try. Ambiance is noisy too. People were talking loudly. Service was still bearable as the staff took in my comment and redo my set meal to make the hot food HOT. But then it really doesn’t change anything for the taste. How I wish I just cancel the food when it taste cold the first time and so my money doesn’t go into waste. Second photo was the food left untouched and we just pay and go.
Janelle — Google review
Foods are nice. Old furnishings but clean Japanese restaurant. Wonder what happened to my chawanmushi , it served 40mins later. Pork Katsu in this restaurant was not our favourite, but Gyoza , hot plate cheesy potato with pork, genkotsu origiri , chawanmushi are tasty. Overall me and husband enjoyed our late dinner over Kirishima Shuzou Japanese restaurant

Tanba Japanese BBQ 炭马烧肉专门店(Twin Galaxy) offers a unique dining experience with its buffet-style barbecue, allowing guests to savor a wide array of Japanese charcoal-grilled dishes for a fixed price. The menu boasts over 100 fresh ingredients, including meats, seafood, vegetables, sushi, sashimi, stir-fries, soups, noodles, and desserts. Emphasizing made-to-order preparation to ensure freshness.
The supervisor is very friendly, and Justin is extremely accommodating. The food is superb—especially the Wagyu beef! Every dish we tried was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The ambiance of the restaurant is also very nice, creating a pleasant and comfortable dining experience. Highly recommended!

Didn’t know where to celebrate the birthday, so we wanted something special. My husband’s younger brother absolutely loves salmon sashimi—he ended up eating 100 slices+! Fortunately, sashimi stock is still available.....WOW We chose the RM198+ buffet set, which came with beef slices. The beef was fresh, and the pork dishes were also unique and tasty. The barbecue flames rising up looked spectacular. The atmosphere was vintage-inspired, carrying a nostalgic touch of the past. The Japanese dishes were incredibly delicious. The highlight was the cake—infused with the fragrance of roses and presented with such artistic design. The rose-shaped salmon sashimi was also exquisite. Highly recommended! The staff’s service felt very high-class and attentive. They understood my needs—when I accidentally ordered the premium ice cream (which had an extra charge), even though I only wanted the regular complimentary one, they came over to kindly remind me and asked if I really needed it. Very thoughtful. They even arranged a very comfortable window-side seat for us. Where else can you find such an awesome experience?
Jacqueline L — Google review
Came here on a quiet Tuesday evening at 6pm expecting a decent BBQ experience. Unfortunately, it was more underwhelming than I expected—especially for the RM230 price tag (service charge included). Let’s break it down: • You order food via an iPad mini on the table. That’s convenient. No need to walk to a fridge or buffet to grab your own raw meat—points for that. • The servers only help to set up the BBQ pit with charcoal and pass food. Once they pass you the raw meat, it’s entirely DIY—even when I asked if they could help place or flip the meat, they flatly refused. • Meanwhile, I saw multiple waiters and waitresses just chit-chatting or idling around. When they delivered food, they kept placing it on the far end of the grill—directly opposite the fire, which made it hard to reach across the hot zone. As a solo single eater, I had a minor grease fire from thick bacon slices—pretty common in BBQ—but had to wave and disrupt two chatting staff just to get help. Honestly, they should have been more alert. One waiter stood blankly in front of me while I waved and called for help—ignored me for over 10 seconds until another (older) waiter came over. Poor training is clear. Other annoyances: • Want to use sauce? Extra RM6. • Only free drinks are water and Genmaicha tea. Everything else is RM7+. • Food is… okay. Plenty of options, but many of the “premium” items (like wagyu and chocolate) are chargeable on top of the RM230. • Overall taste is mediocre. For the price, I’ve had better food and service at cheaper BBQ places. What they did get right: • Very comfortable seating with soft pillows. • Huge screen in the center—nice touch. • BBQ pit’s smoke filtration system is excellent, barely any smoke on me or my clothes. ⸻ Final Thoughts: Worth a try if you’re curious, but I don’t recommend it. You’re basically paying premium prices for mediocre food and subpar service, especially on a non-busy night.

Horrible experience, when we came in they showed us to our table where it was not even cleaned yet and was very dirty with leftover food all over the pot area… the sofa was also sticky and table was not cleaned. They then helped us to change table after waiting there for so long with nothing not even a tablet to order. When we changed table we still had to wait for another 5 mins to be able to order. Food was not the best considering the price was quite pricey. The service was really not it. Which made it a bad experience overall would not come back.
Zavier — Google review
Love the food at Tanba, quality wagyu cuts, a pretty extensive selection of ingredients, great atmosphere. This is my second visit to Tanba. First visit was at Taman Molek. Second visit was at the Twin Galaxy branch. Both experiences were great, but I preferred the setting and atmosphere at Twin Galaxy. I was also pleasantly surprised to find new items added in the menu. Overall, I would highly recommend Tanba to anyone looking for a good and quality BBQ spread. Would definitely be back!

Wah, this BBQ at Outlet Twin Galaxy really not bad leh! That day raining somemore, cold cold weather, then eat hot charcoal grill — shiok until cannot!🔥 The salmon very fresh, really can taste the quality one. The music also very soothing, make the whole place feel so relaxing. Environment very nice — got Japanese plus a bit of European vibes, like cafe like that, very cozy and got feel. Aiyu jelly n water melon n dessert, unlimited refillllll lehhhh….. Overall, really a very good experience. Eat liao happy mood also come. Confirm will come again with friends!👍

We stayed at twin galaxy and needed a food place for pax of 13 for Fathers Day. Was not an easy feat but they managed to give us an area that can fit all of us. Food service and ambience 10/10. Fast. Quality food. Highly recommended. Reservation required. Note: Young kids will have to sit on sofa seatings. 1. Food served fast 2. Wagyu beef in menu without surcharge 3. Wide selection of food for buffet 4. Above 60 years old 10% off 5. Below 3 free 6. 7-12 years old $49 rm

The chefs are currently being mentored by a two-Michelin-starred Japanese chef, and only the best seafood, meats, vegetables, and fruits are used in their menus.
This is the only restaurant in Johor where you can enjoy original Japanese cuisine. The head chef, who once ranked at the top in Japan for both traditional Japanese cuisine and sushi, creates dishes with such delicate flavors that they’re rarely found even in Japan. The simplicity and taste are truly exceptional. When it comes to meat dishes, this restaurant is undoubtedly the best in Malaysia. Not only do they serve Wagyu beef, but they also offer free-range Japanese chicken dishes. Their semi-raw chicken sashimi is a rare delicacy, made possible by air-freighting fresh chicken directly from Japan, ensuring both quality and safety. Seafood is as fresh as it gets, with the option to choose directly from the tank. The chef, a former fisherman with extensive knowledge of seafood, masterfully prepares sashimi and sushi that bring out the natural flavors of the fish. The cost of a meal ranges from RM700 to RM2,000 per person, but given the quality, it is reasonably priced. I find myself traveling to Johor just to dine here, as no other restaurant in Malaysia makes me feel as happy and fulfilled during a meal as this one does.

Honestly a little disappointed with the Omakase and the fresh magi set. The fresh barbecue unagi rice set is amazing. Fresh eel that the skin is still entangle with the eel meats. However very disappointed with the rice. The rice is not the Japanese rice. The tea to pour over for the eel is normal too, not much tea taste and can’t help to reduce the sweetness of the sauces. The sauces get washed down easily. Ordered the 388 set. Was expecting more sashimi, but it only came with a few slices of sashimi. The sashimi quality is very normal. Though it’s thick cut but still not that fresh. 3 pieces of hand rolls that are with red vinegar and two of the fish slices are served previously with the sashimi. the cold seaweed with fish roe is a great appetiser. Chawamushi is well steamed, soft and no MSG, not premixed egg and poured over. Topped with crab legs meat. The yakitori is not bad, chunky chicken meat but a little too sweet for the barbecue sauce. Came with a few dishes that are fried items, such as the fried fish head collar, it’s well fried crispy. The decorations outside are great. Amazing whiskey cups collection from the chef. A lot of wine collections too. Cozy environment and nice interior decorations. The private room is amazing. However the food quality is not there and not worth the price.

For a review with 4.6 restaurant, we got the uncooked chicken for the noodle , not only undercooked. (Oh not to mention there’s no single apology from the staff/ chef/ business owner) Also not so fresh salmon belly…. (Picture below is the most fresh-look piece) And when we asked to wipe clean the table, they did it the half 🙂 Refer to Jasmine below for other food photos. Went with normal expectation (purely for the fresh eel), left with dissatisfaction with the freshness/ portions of the food and service. RM1200 for this meal and the experience, we don’t really recommend.

I have a hard time finding this restaurant as it is housed very inconspicuously along the other shops. Luckily the Google photo has a big logo of the company above the restaurant and we used it to find this place. The owner cum chef is a Japanese from Fukuoka. We opted to sit at the counter and chit chatted with the chef. The sashimi is very fresh. The wasabi and soy sauce were homemade and tasted very good. They serve different sets of omakase but as we are not very hungry, we opted for the Ala Carte menu. Will come again.

Not Worth the Money Recently visited this restaurant with a group of eight, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We’re not sure if we misunderstood the menu, but as first-time visitors, the staff could have provided better guidance. 1. Given that we were a group of eight, the sashimi platter that arrived at our table, pictured below, contained fewer than ten pieces at a price of RM150. This felt shockingly insufficient for the price. 2. The 50g portion of medium-rare beef, priced at over RM110, was another disappointment. Not only was it a tiny portion, but it also wasn’t cooked to medium rare, and the quality of the beef did not meet expectations. 3. We ordered a bowl of cold noodles with chicken, but the chicken arrived undercooked. By the time this dish was served, last among our orders, we had already lost the appetites and decided to cancel it. 4. Ebi was not on the menu, so we asked the staff if they had shrimp. They said yes, leading us to believe it would be a set, especially since we were dining as a group. However, what arrived was a *single* piece of shrimp priced at RM50. To make matters worse, it wasn’t even properly cleaned. At this price point, we expected better quality and attention to detail. The staff should have clarified our expectations instead of serving an overpriced, poorly prepared dish. Overall, this restaurant is far from being value for money. Given that it’s a kaiseki restaurant, we expected better-trained staff and a more satisfying dining experience. Total damage: RM1,200—and we left unsatisfied.

We had the pleasure of celebrating a birthday at this authentic Japanese restaurant. It was a truly delightful experience, thanks to the intimate and traditional Japanese-style dining room arranged for us in advance. Every detail, from the service to the food, was thoughtfully executed. 1. Unagi Hitsumabushi – ★★★★★ The highlight of the meal. The eel was incredibly fresh, prepared on the spot for optimal flavor. The skin was perfectly crisp, while the meat was firm and flavorful—unlike the overly soft texture found in most other restaurants. The accompanying dashi broth had a unique tea aroma that added an elegant touch when poured over the rice. Although the preparation took over 45 minutes, it was well worth the wait. 2. Special Chashiu Ramen – ★★★★★ The ramen was a masterpiece. The chashiu slices were delicately thin, with the perfect balance of fat and lean meat, offering an exquisite texture that’s hard to find elsewhere. The broth was rich, deeply flavorful, and neither overly greasy nor salty. We couldn’t resist finishing every drop, making this dish an exceptional value for its price. 3. Chawanmushi – ★★★★☆ The steamed egg was freshly made, with a soft, slightly watery texture rather than the firmer consistency found elsewhere. It was subtle in flavor, highlighting the natural sweetness of the scallops and mushrooms. While it wasn’t the most standout dish, it was a lovely complement to the meal. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant for anyone seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience with attentive service and exceptional food.

Kisho 料亭 吉祥 in Johor Bahru offers a refined setting and quality ingredients, but the overall experience didn’t quite match the premium price tag (RM588 per person anniversary set). The food was carefully prepared — sashimi fresh, cooked dishes well-executed — and service was polite. However, the meal lacked the sense of occasion that makes omakase special. The room lighting was bright and clinical, there was no music to set the mood, and little interaction with the chef - cannot speak English. He was also hardly at the counter after the initial sashimi dishes.. It felt more like a quiet meal than a curated Japanese dining journey. With better ambience, communication, and pacing, Kisho could easily become a standout in JB’s fine dining scene — but for now, it’s a good meal that stops short of memorable.

No doubt the food is fresh but a bit high price. If got money I will try their omakase. All the foods we ordered are fresh and tasty. The Japanese boss is very friendly and nice. Another thing is the choices is not much if compare to other Japanese restaurants at JB.

Japanese restaurant
Kyu Izakaya is a Japanese gastropub in JB that offers an omakase dining experience. The restaurant provides exceptional service and a comfortable ambiance. It's perfect for sashimi lovers, with fresh and thickly sliced sashimi. One recommended dish is the Kani Miso Rice Ishiyaki Style, which offers a comforting and wonderful taste. Each dish served is described as a masterpiece of flavors and textures, showcasing the commitment to using only the freshest seafood.
Greeted with a warm welcome by the very fine furnishing of the restaurant. The place has a modern bar-style vibe with chill and lofi music. The restaurant itself is very clean and inviting. They have wide selection on the menu — from sushi to sashimi to grilled fried dishes. A lot of baked oysters variety too! Simply love it cos the ingredients are fresh. We ordered the bao fan, which was like a must order for every table. Huge portion for the soba we ordered too! But a pity cos the fried salmon skin was not available that day. You can go for the pax for 2 too if you enjoy the pairing suggested. Although they don’t have birthday incentives, they can arrange for candles for your dessert upon request. Very satisfied with our food! Great vibes, recommended! 👍🏼

Place is not big, reservations required and has a time limit. 5.30 to 7pm for first slot, tables will only be reserved for 20mins, even if you r late have to finish by designated time. Next seating are only available for private rooms with min spending of RM300. 2-3 pax will be counter seats. The sashimi is fresh, maki is good. Chazuke tea is flavourful with wasabi inside, crab meat is sweet. Fried chicken, tempura, soft shell, sanma are served hot. Unagi is not bad. Generally all not bad but not super wow. Give good review for free tori karaage. Is affordable, 4 pax for RM455 with sashimi at RM120+38. The semi fatty tuna belly is very good. But service is not good at all, not friendly, no smiles and did not make the experience enjoyable. Served food standing at the side of table waiting for us to shift the food before they can place the new dish instead of initiating to shift for us. They is unacceptable service.

Located near Pelangi .. along a row of new shop houses. Place is nicely decorated and clean. Menu features Japanese fares, with some interesting menu presentations. Tried their Bone Marrow, nicely cooked and I like how the bone still has the oily look and nice aroma - only minus point is the portion ... which is a bit small .. not even enough to spread on the bun that came along. Sake Atama Nabe was nicely presented, fresh fish head and vegetables - nice soup base that goes well with the Garlic Fried Rice. Only two of us .. so, could not try the rest of their food, but I will definitely be back !!! Polite and Helpful Staffs too !!!

First visit and ordered two of their lunch sets. The Bara Chirashi Don Set is a sensation! The sashimi is fresh, and both the rice and tamago are well-seasoned. It’s my first time seeing a guava salad served in a Japanese restaurant and surprisingly refreshing and delicious! The Cold Soba with Tempura Set is equally good, and I appreciate that they include a quail egg for the dipping sauce, which is quite rare nowadays. The tempura, especially the prawn, was fresh and crispy, though there was only one piece in the set. The environment is nice and cosy, with bar seating, table seats, and even private rooms available. Overall, I’m really happy with the experience and will definitely come back to try their other interesting dishes!

Food 4/5. delicious but small portion. The price is way too high. Average 1 pcs of sushi or 1 pcs of sashimi Rm10. Service 4/5. Average nothing outstanding but nothing to complaint about either. Atmosphere 5/5 toilet is really clean which is not easy to find in Malaysia restaurants. The ambient was quiet and we like that. On a weekday noon where no much diners. Total bill rm293. 3 dishes. 2 cup of hot tea.

A very fancy looking place, primarily specialising in sashimi. Their sashimi is also easily some of the freshest tastiest I've had. Prices are slightly on the steeper side, but duly worth the atmosphere and quality.

First impressions and Ambience is beautiful and calming. However a real Japanese restaurant would not ask you to move to another place once you have been sitted and dining because you have to make space for some other customer that just came in. Plain rude Next, after kindly moving and food served. No utensils and was provided and staff didn’t even realise why the customer was not eating for good 30mins, ice from soba has melted and tempura was cold and staff continue playing with phone and ignorant Looks like a Japanese establishment but service was clearly lacking in etiquette department Such a disappointment after the first nice impression, too bad I won’t know if their food is good. Probably the worse dining experience I had in any restaurant for a Long time Forget Kyu izakaya, try musashi instead where the service is top notch!

Kyu Izakaya never disappoints! The food presentation was beautiful and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I ordered the aburi salmon roll — perfectly torched on top with just the right balance of smoky and creamy flavors. 🍣✨ The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing dinner after work. Service was attentive, and I appreciated the small touches like warm lighting and the overall clean, comfortable setup.

Kamii Sushi Omakase Eco Palladium 上井 is a renowned Japanese restaurant that has been a favorite dining spot for decades. The original outlet in Sutera now exclusively offers omakase-style menus in a modern setting since July 2020. Additionally, the group has recently launched Kamii Eco Palladium, an opulent omakase restaurant, elevating the dining experience to new heights.
Had an amazing omakase dinner here 🍣✨ Every course was beautifully presented — from the starter to the last bite of sushi, you can really taste the chef’s attention to detail. The ambience was cozy and intimate, perfect for a quiet dinner date 💕 Loved the fresh sashimi and the warm interaction with the chef — such a lovely experience, can’t wait to come back again!

For an omakase place, there's room for improvement with regard to the attention to details and value proposition. The service staff were prompt and pleasant. Ingredients were fresh, except for the prawn, which had a slight ammonia tinge. I also bit into a fish scale in one of the sushi pieces, and the green tea was overly diluted. For the price (1.9k for 2 pax), I expect to leave the restaurant satiated but dinner service came to an abrupt end and I was thinking to myself "wait.. that's it?". Won't be back to this place again.

Dining in Kamii Sushi for my first Omakase experience has definitely set a high standard and expectations that I’ll hold for future Omakase. The premium ingredients used in the Omakase are further enhanced by the chefs’ experience and finesse as they served the dishes to us while explaining how the ingredients are sourced from the various regions in Japan. It was definitely a feast for the eyes, nose and tastebuds throughout this 2+ hours. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an incredible Omakase experience.

They have an extensive menu But they’re able to maintain a reasonably good standard. We had the salmon set and hiyashi ramen set and sides Both were delicious

Highly recommend their salmon teriyaki the sauce was super flavourful sweet enough and the salmon was fresh and fatty enough. But their Saba fish wasn’t that juicy which was a downside and it was sour and salty enough. Their fried miso chicken was great tho fried till crisp with creamy miso sauce. Love their salmon maki with avocado the ingredients were fresh but their wasabi wasn’t homemade soy sauce too. Their pickled ginger wasn’t that good too but still acceptable. Their white radish wasn’t grinded well too not exquisite enough. Their nabe was good tho, the salmon super fresh with generous ingredients.

Whenever dining in, we will sure to order the ramen which I think quite authentic taste and very flavorful broth soup. Same goes to the rest of the menu items, which personally I felt quite generous and worth the price due to the quality of the foods. Nimmies Pastry Cafe is a charming Parisian-inspired establishment located in Johor Bahru, just a short drive from the checkpoint and near popular spots like KSL Mall and Taman Sentosa. The cafe's interior exudes an industrial-chic vibe with exposed brick walls, vintage elements, and classic touches.
The food was amazing — I especially loved the Chili Scrambled Egg with Shrimp Sourdough. The prawns were super fresh, the scrambled eggs were fluffy, and the homemade chili oil gave it such a shiok kick! Also tried the Biscoff Buttercream Latte, which was rich, creamy, and perfect for sweet lovers. They also have a great selection of pastries. The pistachio croissant and cromboloni looked beautiful and tasted as good as they looked. Special thanks to Aida for the warm and friendly service, which made the visit even more enjoyable.

1st time visiting this cafe and had a very good overall experience. Visited on a Monday around 11am and to our surprising, there was quite a big crowd. They had a good system to scan and get queue numbers, there was 15 queue ahead of us, waited for about 15-20mins which was reasonable as they had seats outside to chill n wait. Food were all great, the croissants (both sweet and savoury) were delicious, it was a win on their pastry, flaky and soft. The pesto pasta was also very savoury, they even have a choice of less salt, so we found the taste was just nice. Staff were all professional and friendly. Shoutout to Aida & Shafiq, they were very attentive and friendly. Recommended for all ages, couple, friends & family.
Connie T — Google review
We stumbled upon this café purely by accident when our original destination was closed for Deepavali, and the lovely grab driver recommended us here. After a bit of a queue, approx ~30 minutes wait, and we made it inside. The food and drinks here were generally good, but the stars of the show were the dishes made with the Biscoff biscuits. The Biscoff croissant was probably one of the best desserts I’ve had in a long time! Flaky, buttery, and filled with that sweet, caramel goodness, it was like a delightful revelation of my palate. And the Biscoff Latte was smooth, creamy, and had just the right amount of the Biscoff flavor. Now, a couple of tips for future visitors: First, if you find yourself struggling to join the queue electronically, don’t hesitate to approach the staff. They are very friendly and more than willing to help you out. Second, be aware that you need to pay upfront after placing your order. We were unaware of this little detail and ended up sitting at our table for a while, parched and wondering where our water was. Thankfully, we asked the question and got it sorted out before we turned into raisins!

Visited on a weekday morning for brunch, not very crowded. Good ambience and vibes! Service was quick. Food were served fast. Pasta was well done and interesting sauce as we got the soft shell salted egg crab. Spicy shrimp were good! Croissant couldn’t go wrong too. Coffee was fine, not too sweet and just right. Price was on the higher side but worth the penny. Overall worth a try if you’re around the area!

Just had an amazing treat at Nimmies! Weekday queue was reasonably quick.. was 2nd in queue. Their squarish Pistachio Croissant was sold out. Thought I would be disappointed but the Nutty Pistachio Croissant was absolutely fantastic! Flaky, buttery pastry with a delightful pistachio filling that was just right. But what really stood out was the great humble service that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Also tried their original Banana Loaf, which was lovely (prefers the honeyed one @banana.bakes.sg) and a Pistachio Latte that had a special wonderful aroma. 😋😋😋 You know, I have wondered too - what's the secret to pistachio-based items being so irresistible? Is it the unique nutty flavour, the subtle sweetness, or the way it just seems to pair so well with both sweet and savoury elements? Whatever it is, Nimmies has definitely nailed it. Happy day well spent🥰

Had a wonderful dinner at Nimmies Pastry Café! All the food was so good! We ordered the Aussie Angus Spaghetti Goreng and Kampung Fried Rice with crispy squid, the beef was incredibly tender! The staff were super friendly too! The interior is definitely an OOTD-worthy spot! And the croissant? Crispy and golden. So satisfied with everything! 10/10 recommended!

Scan the QR code to get into the queue, or you can choose to sit outside and you can start ordering through the table QR code but you won't be able to swap to an inside table. Most of the staff were friendly, special mention to the host at the door - he was really sweet. The food is more expensive than normal imo. One special flavoured croissant can be up to $25-29, mains all around the $40-50 range. Taste wise is ok, got a lot of different unique flavours to try.

Surprising a lot people on weekdays as it located at the second floor of the shop lot. So we sat at the counter bar. The environment is same like Japanese shop. Very Japan feel. It’s a popular spot that fills up right after opening, so it’s best to make a reservation. The sashimi and sushi are fresh and well prepared. Service is attentive and friendly, which makes the experience pleasant. However, the tempura is disappointing. The batter is thick and heavy rather than light and crisp. Overall, a great place for sushi and sashimi lovers, but I’d skip the tempura.

Reading at previous reviews, this restaurant is highly rated. Maybe we came on a disastrous day for the place. My first impression is that although there were a lot of staff around, they were all running around like chokes with the heads cut off. We were led to a table that was not properly set up. The staff, and a supervisor did not even acknowledge our present, despite we were only three feet away from her. The waitress forgot about taking our order until after they served the later tables. Then another waitress sent the wrong dish to our table! We had to asked for the wine list, but then it was promptly taken away without asking us for a wine order! Worst experience of the night was we were sat beside a group of very rude, arrogant, and very loud Singaporean dinner. Maybe it is not the restaurant's fault, but surely, they can ask them to lower their voices or sat them at an unobtrusive table. We lost all our appetite because of them. What save the night was the foods. The ramen, which is what we came here for, has a unique favor. Obviously, the soup base is not the classical triple boiled pork bone soup. The tamago zasui (egg porridge) is very nice and very filling. Obviously, this place is carried by their kitchen. If the management can make some improvements to its front-end service, it would be a very good restaurant to visit.

Went to this restaurant with quite a high expectation, however the food tasted average but considered quite pricey. Maybe we ordered the wrong choice? It seems like a nice place for yakitori and drinks though. Service is very good. The staff is attentive to refilling our cups of tea and keeps us updated on our food order that wasn't served yet. For this, I will return to try their food again.

Great Japanese Food – Book Ahead! The food here is really good — fresh, flavorful, and authentic. It’s one of the best Japanese spots around. However, it’s always crowded, so booking in advance is highly recommended to avoid long waits. Service is decent despite the busy atmosphere, and the overall experience is satisfying. Just a bit noisy during peak hours, but worth it for the food!

Sushi Zanmai is an acclaimed sushi restaurant that specialises in providing authentic Japanese cuisine. Offering more than 100 varieties of sushi and 100 types of cooked food, the restaurant is popular for its affordable prices and monthly promotions. With expert staff and a long history in Japan, Sushi Zanmai provides a unique dining experience for visitors to Malaysia.
We visited on a Wednesday evening about 6pm and the service staff seems busy or maybe short handed? The sad thing is they didn't serve with a smile on their faces. Although the QR code was given to order, we needed assistance to clean the side of the tables as it was slightly dirty The food is decent but there was an annoying fly around us while we were eating. Some sushi food came in about 5-10 mins after we ordered but the other food like noodles and fried food required more preparation time. I personally find the salmon sashimi was a decent cut and value for money

Kind of slow for the food during non peak hours. Tendon in-between the fried stuffs had a layer of the crispy thing that separate the rice was a good touch. Portion size was great, ice teas come in a jug and no issue with basic service and food taste. Everything were kinda average including the price.

We ordered the salmon belly miso nabe, spicy ebi roe sushi and a soft shell crab roll. Both sushi were good but not the miso nabe. The miso broth tasted weird. Food took a long time to arrive too. The good thing was the free flow hot green tea which we sipped while waiting the long wait....

We came at about 12:30pm. Ordered at 12:40 & reached at 1:03pm. There wasn’t a lot of people but they couldn’t deliver my food on time. The head manager was silently rude to not respond to my really late order. He just kept quiet and walked away. It is best to not dine in here when you are in a hurry. The sense of urgency the staff has is not to a certain standard. If you have great patience then this place is for you. As i am typing this, i am at the restaurant and there’s food that have yet to arrive. For me to experience & for you to judge :)

The last time I had sushi in Malaysia was Sushi King in KL 15 years ago I think. Since we have been having Chinese food each time we come to JB, why not try Sushi Zanmai here, before heading home. Honestly the food here is quite good n more affordable as compared to SG. One particular dish I loved was the Karasu Karei Teriyaki (Grilled Atlantic Flounder) n the Zaru soba From now n every visit, I’ll come back for a meal here. Worth a visit if you love Japanese food. PS: No service charge !!!
David T — Google review
We arrived to a long queue, but it moved quickly, given how packed the restaurant was, service was efficient and the food came out fast. The dishes were a bit of a miss. Portions were on the smaller side, so it might not be the most filling option. The okonomiyaki was overwhelmed by the sauce, which overpowered the other flavors rather than complementing them. The beef steak had a tough texture and lacking seasoning. The asari clams were plump and fresh but the portion felt stingy with only a handful in the bowl.
Madeleine T — Google review
Our go to restaurant whenever we visit JB! Prices are really affordable and for that price, we cannot complain much. I also really loved how refreshing the green tea is! Would definitely be back again!
Luna T — Google review
Sushi is not good, the tuna was so fishy, had 1 bite and didn’t finish the rest. The seaweed of sushi tasted weird, cha soba was so soggy and doesn’t taste good. Beef was cold. Chawanmushi is too salty… sad, last time I came was still ok but it has gotten worse… Had to wait for about 20-30mins after ordering before food came. The manager was nice though but will not return…

This is a great place to go if you're looking for authentic Japanese food. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The portion sizes are good and the price is reasonable.
A very nicely decorated restaurant that gives off the warm, cozy and traditional Japanese vibe you get from the countryside restaurants in Japan. The food is pretty good too and you can feel and appreciate the meticulous effort the owner spend on the creation of the dishes. Overall an excellent dining experience, a place that I would gladly recommend to anyone looking for the homely and cozy atmosphere of an authentic Japanese restaurant.

The food here wasn’t the best but okay. Love their tamago yak and the food choices here, it was a whole lot of side dishes. Their potato salad was a disappointment tho, too much mayo, the salmon was grilled till too hard to chew too in my opinion. Their side dishes were super delicious tho, love the bamboo fried chicken, it wasn’t too oily or salty perfect their daikon were simmered well too the miso was normal but the salad dressing were super delicious sesame sauce.
Xaxxolonch — Google review
I have not been to too many Japanese restaurants here in JB just because I don't think there is any good one here, although there are many. However, Kinnokura Izakaya surprised me! I rate it as among the top Japanese restaurant here, especially for an Izakaya. Good quality ingredients for Japanese foods are not cheap, but this restaurant has managed to maintain the menu at reasonable prices. I guess the owner works hard on it. The house-sake is only RM38 for 300ml, nice! Well done! As far as the foods is concerned, they are presented well. The tastes and textures of the foods are better than a lot of other places, here or anywhere else, definitely amongst the best for JB. The service is excellent. I like restaurant services to be unintrusive and this one nailed it. Top job! The best part of this restaurant, I find, is the decor. The owner must have taken a lot of time and efforts to source all of them. I did not expect such an authentic Izakaya decor here. You could have mistaken where you are once you entered. This restaurant has been in operation since 2014, so, through the Covid years. The owner must be hard working to keep this place going through all the hard times. I thank my old friend for recommending this place to me. Now I can recommend this restaurant to everyone I meet. We need more of this kind of restaurants here in Malaysia.

Was initially taken back by the price on the menu. But after reading review, decided to give it a shot. Soft shell crab maki was superb! 🥰 Salmon with salt is super tasty too. Had a wonderful dining experience. The food is ex, but the food is awesome! Love it!
Edmund T — Google review
Don’t let the exterior mislead you… the food is actually very very good. I ordered Salmon Maki as appetizer and Tonkatsu. The salmon was very generously big for a maki. The Tonkatsu was delicious served with a mild spicy Japanese curry with potatoes, carrots and eggplants. Everything for not more than RM34 nett… value for money!

Nice food, nice service. Chill atmosphere. Small wait for food to be served, overall is good. A bit on the pricey end.
Shaun T — Google review
June 2024 Wanted to get the grilled 1 day dried mackerel, but it was out of stock. Had soba, spicy fried chicken and grilled salted mackerel instead. Soba was delicious like the last time. The chicken was nice too, but it doesn’t really taste spicy, not enough kick to the spiciness. The grilled salted mackeral(saba) was nice too, but I still preferred the grilled dried mackerel. Spent about 90rm. Still recommended for nice Japanese food. April 2024 Very cozy restaurant. The soba noodles and grilled 1 day dried mackerel was fantastic. The soba noodles portion could be slightly bigger but the grilled mackerel’s portion was generous. The taste was fantastic, I could taste the freshness and juiciness of the fish and it was grilled very well. I throughly enjoyed the fish. The spicy miso pork rice was good as well, I had already down the noodles and fish and just wanted something to top it off, if the soba noodles’s portion was slightly bigger than I would have skipped the spicy miso grilled pork rice. Overall, a very enjoyable Japanese dinner. The price is reasonable as well, I spent about 100rm in total. Definitely worth to give it a try.

Located at 25c, Jalan Dato Abdullah Tahir, Taman Abad, 80300 Johor Bahru, Awagyu Restaurant is a halal-certified gem for Wagyu lovers. It prides itself on serving the finest cuts of A5-graded (BMS8-12) Wagyu beef from a special farm in Tokushima, Japan. The restaurant offers a delectable and health-conscious dining experience with its tender and marbled Wagyu beef.
The restaurant was spacious and had a free flow bar for sauces though the meat was so delicious I feel like I wasted the sauce since I barely used any and mostly used the salt to go with it. On top of that, the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it came to the ordering process and introducing the menu. The salmon was so fresh as well! They’re also extremely attentive and friendly. Overall an amazing experience food and ambience wise. We’ll definitely be back again.

Tried their omakase set at RM488 ++, ordered a few ala carte and ordered a bottle of sake at RM300 ++ Kappo concept - open kitchen, just opened Nov 2024 (located at level 2) only stairs. If you have wheelchair elderly not suitable. Food (3/5): - Overall food is okay - Wagyu sirloin steak was abit tough. Can’t really tell it’s A5 grade to be honest. - Hot beef stew was abit too sweet - Otoro sushi was good - Hokkaido melon was good - Gave us a cake for birthday celebration Service (2/5): - You can tell the waitress is not very well-trained. A fly flew into our sake bottle, and when the waitress poured the sake into our cups, we noticed the fly. She didn’t apologize, she just said she would throw away that cup of sake and give us a new cup. Paying at this price I would expect a better service level to be honest. - Toilet is normal, not toto. Cleanliness is normal also. Atmosphere (2/5): - Nth special Conclusion, with this price range you can get better omakase elsewhere in JB.

Awagyu Restaurant is an excellent place for anyone who loves quality beef. The wagyu cuts were amazing — tender, juicy, and full of rich flavour. You can really taste the premium quality in every bite. The staff provided tip-top service, being attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The dining experience felt very refined and well thought out, from the presentation to the cooking recommendations. Everything was handled with care and professionalism. Definitely one of the best wagyu spots I’ve tried, and I’ll absolutely be coming back again soon!

The presentation was impressive — each dish was beautifully plated and clearly prepared with care. But once you get past the visuals, the overall taste just doesn’t match the presentation. The flavours were underwhelming and didn’t justify the high price. For what it costs, I expected a lot more depth and balance in the food. Sadly, it’s not something I’d go back for.

Food is super good !! Been here a couple of times. Doesnt disappoint. Shwe was helping out and showing us how to cook the yakiniku platter. Learned alot of tips and was patient with our questions. Very good service. Celebrated our boy’s birthday and was given a complimentary cake together with a birthday song. Family friendly restaurant.

We ventured into this restaurant based on google map review and it truly did not disappoint! The beef quality is top notch and we did not just had 1 but 2 mixed platter serving! We chose a seaweed based soup that's just a little blend, but nothing ww couldnt fix with a little salt, pepper and dashi. Initially we thought they dont serve alcohol; imagine our delight when they brought the alcohol menu. We chose an entry level junmai, and it was so tasty! We even added a dash of it into the soup and it was simply heavenly!

Awesome steakhouse in JB! Tried the mixed wagyu platter to sample a bit of everything and it did not disappoint. We also had their gyoza and it was exceptionally good! Kinsahi Japanese Restaurant, located in AEON Bukit Indah, offers a diverse menu of fresh and flavorful sushi chirashi seafood. This restaurant is known for its tempting selection of Japanese cuisine that can be found in Kulai, Johor. With positive reviews on Tripadvisor and Yelp, Kinsahi is highly recommended among food enthusiasts. If you're looking for the best Japanese restaurants in Kulai, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
Good range of Japanese food dishes at relatively affordable prices (for Singaporeans). We had the ramen and some side dishes. The ramen were well flavoured and delicious. The Ebi Chawanmushi was full of prawns and other stuff and well worth the upgrade in price compared to their regular chawanmushi.
Keng T — Google review
The food was quite tasty and generally met expectations. Service was decent as well, with staff being polite and attentive overall. However, there were a few communication challenges as some of the waitstaff had limited English proficiency, which made ordering slightly more difficult. Prices were on the higher side, and while not unreasonable, they felt a bit steep compared to similar establishments. The restaurant’s atmosphere was clean and tidy, with a well-maintained dining area. That said, the air conditioning could be improved — the indoor temperature felt a little warm and stuffy, which affected the overall comfort during the meal.

Overall, it's a good experience, except our orders seemed to have gotten lost and had to remind the staff a few times. Garlic fried rice portion is quite big. Their baby octopus is chopped up instead of a whole piece. Love their thick slices of salmon sashimi.

Nestled in Johor, Wa Zen Izakaya Japanese Restaurant Sdn Bhd has its roots in the charming state of Malacca. This delightful eatery brings a slice of authentic Japanese cuisine to the region, showcasing dishes crafted from the freshest ingredients available. Diners often rave about their experiences here, particularly enjoying the fresh sashimi and delectable salmon belly. While some have noted occasional service hiccups during busy times or slight variations in portion sizes, many still find value in their offerings.
We made a reservation on Christmas night. Good atmosphere with nicely done sushi, sashimi is fresh and delicate, food are delicious service is good.

Visited Wa Zen on a couple of times previously as the food and service are generally good and worth the money. Was disappointed last night with slow service (was later informed by one of the staff that the kitchen lacked chefs), and seemingly smaller portions of food (Ikura, salad) as compared to previous times. Still good for the Salmon Belly Sashimi and Sesame Ice Cream though.

The restaurant upon entering, has a strong smell of toilet! Perhaps they use the same mop, for toilet and customer area, maybe it’s bad ventilation. It was very disturbing. Food wise, hmmmm. Ok but not as good as the malacca branch. Garlic fried rice was a bit clumpy, sticky, not dry Oh yes, the spider maki was also not as good here; something was missing, the kick was not there. Soft shell crab was ok, but had a strong oil smell? - old used oil smell. Was told the fish head was good.

Soft shell crab isnt the claw or the leg, its the abdomen that even has crab eggs in there, extremely nasty. A few minutes later the staff came back and exchage the tablet, not mentioned any apologies at all. Totally understaffed, inattentive staff, sushi rice wasn't prepared perfectly. sushi with seaweed on the belt was soggy, chawamushi tasted a bit sour, some of the tables were left uncleared after customers left. One of the most famous and value worthy sushi restaurant at bukit indah area. They portion and price consider cheap. Food quality also good. This restaurant is famous francish. I like thier fried tau fu with japanese dipping sause. Their sasumi like salmon, toro(belly), the octopus and tuna is uqite fresh and nice. The premium sasimi roll also cost u rm 2.8 each.. where u can get at malaysia. Only here. That why need to queue during dinner hour.. i wait for 40min.. today i try their fried saba fish.. its so gooodd.

This is an amazing place for lunch or dinner. The price is value for money. The taste is great and the service is wonderful. I strongly recommended anyone to try it but you might end up in a queue if you don't go early. No reservations, first come first serve.

Dissatisfaction with the service and cleanliness standards I experienced at your Mentai Sushi Bukit Indah on [17 Sep 2025]. Upon being seated, I noticed that my chair had a noticeable oily stain. When I politely brought this to a staff member's attention and requested that it be cleaned, I was met with a look of visible annoyance. The staff member then proceeded to wipe the stain with only a tissue, which was ineffective and left the chair in the same unsanitary condition. This lack of effort and unprofessional attitude was very disappointing. I understand that busy periods can be challenging, but a basic standard of cleanliness and a respectful response to a customer's request should always be maintained. The incident not only affected my comfort during the meal but also raised concerns about the overall hygiene of the restaurant. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and address these issues with your staff to ensure this does not happen to other customers.

The sushi ordered from the menu are better than the ones on the conveyor belt. The price is very affordable. Taste and quality wise acceptable but not outstanding. Taro sashimi 👍 Potato sushi 👍 Fried chicken cutlet rice 👍 Curry rice👍 Miso soup 👍 huge flavorful portion Soya & sweet sauce dips 👍 Potato balls 🫲 Toufu .🫲 Chicken teriyaki 🫲 Spicy ramen 👎

Many flies, maybe hygiene problem as they put many blue light still got many flies flying around. The salmon sushi 🍣 taste like not fresh and rotten 😩 The chawanmushi taste like Chinese steam egg, the grilled salmon taste like Chinese cuisine. Cannot expect more, their price is the cheapest. The flies enjoy taking train on sushi at the rail, some of the sushi covers did not placed properly, and it really affected my appetite.
Scarlet — Google review
Overall is nice. The flies really hit my tables.. talking about ordering the food those that i wanted was not available, sadly.. secondly, im having trouble with the wifi connection to their menu. Since my wife n i with different telco still having nil connectivity hence no choice but to use the outlet wifi.. My wife hp successfully ordered some food, and the response from the website was slow n failed on second attempt so we stopped just eating what was on the conveyor belt. Everything ended well. My son was happy with his udon n my girl stole my fried rice..😤 My family is happy im happy. 😊

Japanese restaurant
Nijyumaru Japanese Restaurant, located in Masai and Skudai, Johor, is a popular spot offering a variety of set meals like Unagi Set and Saba Shioyaki Set. The restaurant's ample dining area makes it perfect for families. With its modern Japanese ambiance featuring a black and yellow color scheme, Nijyumaru offers both public and private dining spaces.
This hidden gem delivers a seriously satisfying Japanese dining experience that punches above its weight. From the moment you step into the tastefully decorated space—think warm wood accents and soft lighting—you know you're in for quality. The menu impresses with its breadth: - Sashimi platters featuring buttery-fresh salmon and tuna slices - Beef teriyaki grilled to tender perfection with just the right glaze - Lesser-known gems like agedashi tofu with flawless crispy skin - Curated sake list offering approachable picks to premium pours What stands out is the consistency—every dish we tried (and we ordered ambitiously!) hit the mark. Portions are generous for the price point, especially compared to similar Japanese spots. The unagi don deserves special mention—fatty eel draped over steaming rice in a sweet-savory sauce that lingers memorably. Service is attentive without hovering, and the relaxed pace encourages you to savor each course. While not fine dining, the attention to detail in both food and presentation feels thoughtful. Perfect for: • Casual date nights with culinary credibility • Group dinners where everyone orders differently • Sake explorers wanting guidance • Value seekers craving authenticity Tip: Try their aburi (flame-seared) sushi series—the scallop version is sublime. Weekday lunches offer incredible set meal deals. Why we'll be back: Where else can you feast on fresh sashimi, sip quality sake, and leave pleasantly full without cringing at the bill? A rarity in Johor's Japanese scene.

Went to this outlet for dinner. Service is good. Gives you a warm towel to refresh yourself! Ordered Chirasi Don, Chawanmusi with Roe, a grilled Salmon head and Tai Sashimi. Ate the Chawanmusi that came first. Warm with small portion of Salmon Roe. Smooth and slightly salty with the Roe in mouth. Chirashi Don is also small in portion. One slice of sashimi each from the common usual. Grilled Salmon head with salt, it's nicely grilled and very good amount of omega 3 oil oozing from its head. Last is the Tai Sashimi. Fresh and chilled. Free appetiser included, 3 balls of minced Salmon meat in sweet sauce! Quality of rice can be improved. Grated radish and sliced cabbage that accompanied the grilled fish is a bit dried. Maybe too much of it was prepared too early. Nevertheless, will visit again.

I’ve been here many times, and every visit is always a pleasant experience! We were welcomed with a refreshing wet towel to start. Ordered two set meals — the portions were so generous they could easily feed three adults! The sashimi was fresh and of great quality, and the chawanmushi came hot with plenty of ingredients inside. I also love their udon — it’s the flat and thin kind, with a wonderful texture! They have an extensive menu with so many choices. Definitely one of the best places to satisfy your Japanese food cravings!

This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Johor Bahru, which was recommended by a friend. I was overwhelmed by the service from the staff as they will go the extra miles to give us the best dining experience in the restaurant. The quality of the food and ingredients was absolutely fantastic, fresh and delicious. I can just confidently order anything on the menu, and it would taste good.

Friendly service and delicious food. Loved the buttery salmon belly, flavorful ikura chawanmushi, and tender niku enoki yaki. Will definitely come back!

The Sake Kama (Salt-grilled salmon fish) was fresh and cooked to perfection: Being crispy on the outside, while soft and tender on the inside. However, the freshly imported batch of bluefin tuna, which made up the Special Chutoro Sashimi didn't meet up to my expectations, as it didn't bring on a melting sensation to my mouth. The staff were outstanding though, being fast even without a reservation.

2 days ago my friend and I celebrated birthday at Kyudon. We found that the Japanese food there was delicious especially the tempura was still crispy even after putting aside for long and its sauce was not salty. Good surrounding and can walk-in to have your meal and suitable for small gathering. The only thing is that there was no parking place outside the shop so we walked a distance to get to the shop.

Definitely not my first time here. I think owner is changed. I ordered a bowl of Vietnamese Kway Teow soup and the kway teow tasted very instant ish, that's 1 star deducted. The overall taste is very average, nothing can surprise you. The ingredients in the soup were obviously being cooked too long, rough and tasteless. The place is still ok, clean.

Nice spacious and comfortable with pretty good food. The beef stew was nice. Flavourful but could have been even more tender than it already is. The laksa and the spring roll was good too.

Regular customer as living in the surrounding area. But always headache with the smoker around though there are signs show no smoking outdoor. Overall for the food and service are alright, but very disappointing with allowing smokers dine in even with just put up the “no smoking” for just ‘decorating’ purpose.

Johor Bahru Seafood Village is a popular spot for seafood lovers in JB, offering fresh crabs and other delicious seafood dishes. The restaurant provides attentive and friendly service, making diners feel welcome. While some dishes like the Thai pork trotter were well-marinated and tasty, others such as the sambal kangkung were a bit salty. The interior of the restaurant is simple and clean with ample parking space available.
We chose 2 smaller crabs for their chili crab dish and that came up to RM150 which is sufficient for 2 pax. No crowd as we came around 6 on a weekday. Airy environment which makes dining experience enjoyable. Staff was friendly and also attentive in changing our dirty plates. Recommended!

First time visiting this seafood restaurant and it left a good impression. The place is spacious, perfect for large groups or family gatherings. Service was prompt, with dishes arriving quickly after ordering. The seafood was fresh and portions were generous for the price, which I found quite reasonable. Most dishes tasted great, but a few were slightly on the salty side for my liking. Overall, a pleasant dining experience and I would consider returning to try more items on the menu.

This restaurant is a fantastic find, delivering truly delicious food that travels remarkably well. I opted for a takeaway and brought the food back to my Airbnb, and I can confidently say that both the Black Pepper Crab and the Chili Crab were absolutely excellent. The flavors were rich and satisfying, even after the short journey back. The star dish pairing, however, was the Garlic Roasted Pork. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful—an absolutely perfect accompaniment to an ice-cold beer. This combination created the ultimate night in, making it a perfect meal to enjoy while relaxing and watching Netflix. For those planning to dine in, there’s an added bonus: the restaurant offers free parking for the first two hours. Whether you are dining in or taking out, this restaurant serves up amazing, satisfying food that makes for a great meal. Highly recommended!

Fantastic food. Crab was really fresh and so juicy. 1st time having slipper lobster, the meat is still moist and firm even after deep fried. Salted egg squid is fresh too. Boiled lotus soup is "sweet" and flavourful. Very fast service. 5 star service by manager Soon. Highly recommended 👌

Japanese restaurant
Yawata No Kami is a new Japanese restaurant that has recently opened. They've got an amazing atmosphere, with a lot of Japanese vibes and their food is definitely good - especially their Hokkaido butter ramen which isn't quite as expected but still enjoyable. They also provide parking for customers and the service was friendly enough.
The girl in the shop, is really helpful and hardworking, always sharing her smile, and make everyone happy. The ambience is good, like immersing in a small japanese shop. The food is really really good, especially the nanban chicken, is the best nanban chicken i have ever tried!! and they provide yuzu broth ramen, etc, which is seldom can be seemed in JB. A wide choice in their beverage too, and they are very special and nice taste too. Highly recommend this restaurant to those who like japanese food.

The service was alright. Food is okay, but definitely it’s overprice. Chawanmushi using soba source instead of soup based. Soba unagi was creamy, but unagi taste lower than expected. Sushi rice is not fat and full. Abit dry for Japanese rice. Salmon is fresh
Michelle C — Google review
Atmosphere was all right, service for the mini burger could be faster, because it took about more than an hour to serve upon our first dish that arrived. Taste of the food were acceptable but nothing stood out for a Japanese cuisine. Unfortunately the ramen was taken off the menu. Parking is also limited to 6 slots in front of the restaurant. It is difficult for me to recommend a second visit.
Victor T — Google review
Went here on New Year's Eve, felt the place under staffed. Menu was not the usual menu as I was told and the font is too tiny under less ideal lighting. Also it does not come with pictures and I have trouble looking for what I wanted. Food came pretty decent but off the mark according to regulars. There is 2 reserved parking at the front of the restaurant but hard to get. The area is busy at peak hours and parking might take time.
Chee C — Google review
Used to have an excellent menu and pricing. The previous menu was very well presented with quality printing and with good quality pictures depicting the dishes. The food was also of good quality and as depicted in the menu. What you see was what you got. The selection of different variety of food was also good. Everything was superb as befitting the reputation of the outlet as a Japanese restaurant. I was very impressed such that I kept going back and even had a family gathering there in the VIP room 1 which cost quite a tidy sum. Unfortunately, the new menu left much to be desired and using computer print out is a first of its kind and in my view damaging to its image and brand. It's a far cry as compared to the old menu. Also I always felt welcome as I would be ushered into the inside part of the restaurant and not in the open and common area. The last time I visited I did not have any of the good impression I initially had.
Jw T — Google review
Sorry to say I am quite disappointed with this so called “buffet” dining. Food is not fresh, food court standard, quantity is pathetic that you will need to order more, but the most important thing is you only have 2 hours dining time with “wait long long order” waiting time. Waited for one hour for my chawanmuchi , customer for the whole session keep waiting and keep asking where their order! First experience of buffet that have nothing to eat at my table and feel hungry after that. Not worth to try! 吃不饱的自助餐
Wymand — Google review
Featuring a few dishes that amazed my family - soft shell crab mango sushi best followed by mentaiko tamago, karaage, curry pork chop & chicken wings were not bad; other dishes such as ramen, don, skewers standard were so so. Portion is huge & hence we ordered too much and we couldn’t finish it 😅 Staffs were attentive and service was speedy but the whole space was too noisy and hence unable to fully enjoy the food
Smilinglilwen — Google review
Overall experience is acceptable considering it is a Japanese buffet at RM78++ per pax for dinner session. Cannot compare to buffet restaurant in big organisation as this is more like a small establishment restaurant. Some of the foods taste real nice, whereas others taste average. Foods presentation definitely have rooms for inprovement. Sashimi quality is ok, but the presentation is not ok, it does not increase much cost to make it look better, definitely should make more effort on the sashimi presentation. Fried foods take longer to serve but the fried shisamo is tasty.

Ordered one box of Uni here and they provide unlimited refill of sushi rice , seaweed and wasabi. The Uni is fresh and satisfying ,it will be prefect if they served it with Japanese sushi seaweed but not Korean olive oil seaweed ,the Rm23/ Glass plum wine ( I forget the name )tastes good for me . The skewers taste good too although the price is at the high side but acceptable. I cannot say this is the best skewers i ever had but this is one of the best I’ve ever tasted in JB . My friend and I are both satisfied the dining experience and service they provide. We appreciate the little service too, they provided hand towel roll instead of tissue paper for drying after washing our hands ,thumbs up for a restaurant can make this effort. Thanks!

I ordered the lunch teppan course and it was excellent! As I went on a weekday afternoon, I had the whole area to myself and could watch the chefs prepare the food in front of me. The service was also really good as the staff were very attentive to my needs. However, the dessert was not a sorbet as stated on the menu. The staff later explained that the chef changed it to a slice of muskmelon served on ice, and apologised for forgetting to inform me earlier. Notwithstanding this slight problem with miscommunication, the whole dining experience was fantastic.

Good food, quite worth it for the lunch set. My favourite was the Wagyu sushi because it was so flavourful and it just melts in your mouth. The garlic fried rice was pretty good smoky and garlicky. It’s better than uncle Roger’s one. The beef was melt in your mouth tender. I like how for one cut there is a bit of chew to it but also it is soft. Service however not very up to par. They forgot our order of garlic fried rice although I specifically told them at the start that I wanted fried rice. In terms of interactions, I felt there was a big barrier between the chefs and the customers, making it more bland. To get water here is ridiculously overpriced. 12 ringgit for a bottle of “premium Aquafina” is preposterous! The water and cup has something black inside idk what it was.

The food is absolutely amazing, from the start till end! Celebrated my birthday here feeling like a king 😂 the beef is so soft and juicy and it melts in your mouth with just a few chews. The sashimi was absolutely a delight as well! The crews are very attentive, always ready to serve your next dish one you are done. The birthday brownie and when the whole crew gather to sing the birthday song is indeed an icing on the cake! Will definitely return again!

We had super tasty starters, sushi, sashimi, A5 wagyu beef made on the teppanyaki grill, abalone, Hokkaido melon… The service was impeccable. The wait staff were lovely and the chefs very informative. If there was one improvement to make, it would be the toilets. For such a high end establishment I expected the toilets to be much better.

Not worth the buck here. I could’ve gone to a better Michelin star restaurant for the amount of 1k+MYR and have better food quality and experience. The starters are very dry. And seasoned with a lot of salt. The wagyu served was very dry as well And the soup served feels like I bought the miso off from jaya grocer shelf No seaweed No tofu No nothing Staff are nice but lack of the WOW experience for that amount. Thought I would love to come back for the other menu. But I’m afraid have to give it a pass 😭

Had an amazing Omakase experience at Yoru Pelangi! The sushi was fresh, beautifully presented, and each course felt like a little piece of art. Loved the cozy atmosphere and attentive service. Definitely worth a visit!
Tang J — Google review
Sushi Yoru in Johor Bahru offers an unforgettable omakase experience, perfect for celebrations or simply indulging in a quality meal. From the attentive service to the thoughtfully crafted dishes, everything about the experience was a delight. We went for the RM388++ lunch menu, which included Zensai, creamy Chawanmushi, two types of fresh sashimi that melted in your mouth, six expertly prepared nigiri sushi pieces, a delicious cod fish hot dish, premium Uni Temaki (top-grade uni!), soup, and a dessert. Every dish was beautifully presented and showcased the chef's meticulous attention to detail and passion for their craft. The sashimi stood out for its exceptional freshness, and the overall quality of the food was excellent. While the miso soup wasn’t to my personal liking and felt a bit bland, it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the meal. The service was top-notch, with the staff being friendly, professional, and accommodating. When we missed our initial reservation due to a massive traffic jam, the restaurant graciously allowed us to reschedule without any penalties—a gesture that truly reflects their commitment to customer satisfaction. We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday, and the staff surprised us with complimentary cake, which added an extra special touch to the occasion. The entire experience lasted about two hours, and every moment felt well spent.

First omakase experience with my boyfriend was wonderful~🥰 We are grateful to Chef Pong for providing us with such a delightful dinner and good experience. He meticulously prepared each dish, using fresh ingredients, and explained each course to us. The service from the staff was excellent, they very paid attention to our needs, and the presentation of the food was exquisite. The atmosphere was cozy and perfect for celebrating special occasions. We will definitely come back again next time.🫶🏻

Japanese restaurant
If you're on the hunt for an authentic Japanese dining experience without breaking the bank, look no further than Daifuku Restaurant. Nestled in Taman Daya, this cozy eatery serves up high-quality dishes that rival those found in more upscale sushi spots, all at incredibly reasonable prices. The warm and inviting atmosphere makes it feel like a home away from home, where you can enjoy everything from main sushi selections to hearty noodle sets and comforting rice dishes.
A charming, family-run Japanese eatery that truly stands out in Johor, Taman Daya. Their steamed fish is a must-try, beats many Japanese restaurants in the area. It's heartwarming to see the owner's children helping out and taking orders. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and offers great value. Highly recommended!

Ramen set - teriyaki chicken okay but too sweet - ramen portion too little and soup not hot and salty - side dish portion too small SABA Fish Set came out after I finished the ramen - Saba fish okay - side dish portion too small Fried Salmon Head - Batter too thick - fried for too long - salmon head juiciest all gone.

They provided good foods in affordable price. The tastes do not compare with Waruku, sushi zanmai but you will have an enough portion of foods. The slice smoke duck is my personal favourite.

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in Johor Bahru, The Rock Stone Grill is a must-visit. From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere greets you with cheerful hospitality that sets the stage for an enjoyable meal. On my recent visit, I savored their satay chicken chop paired with salmon—an excellent choice that offered satisfying flavors and generous portions perfect for sharing. Priced reasonably at around RM39.
This is my second time eating here. I visited during lunch, and it wasn't very crowded. We all ordered the lunch set. In terms of taste, it was just okay; the herbal chicken was quite plain for my liking. However, the portion sizes were generous. The staff was also friendly and helpful.
Selvinia N — Google review
Overall, decent experience. The food was averagely good, with a variety of dishes to choose from. While nothing particularly stood out in terms of flavor, the portions were generous, making it good value for the price. The service was fine, nothing exceptional, but their staff were polite and attentive enough. If you’re looking for a solid meal with large portions, this spot is worth considering, though it might not be the place for an extraordinary dining experience.
Sheng L — Google review
Ordered Boneless Lamb Leg, Salmon fish with Prawns and Wasabi Tempura. The sizzling food on hot stone was served right in front of me at the table, without any explanation on how long it takes to cook. The sizzle splatter all over the table (on handphone) all over my dress, on the sofa seat, on my bag. Super hot stone, thin piece of lamb, in a minute or two, it was overcooked. With the hot stone still super hot, it continued to cooked. Same goes to the salmon and prawn. Burned and sticked on the hot stone. Prawns are not red when cooked. Frozen and not fresh. Oh and the tempura was instant frozen tempura shrimp. Disappointed.
Ireynn K — Google review
Ordered the 2 pax combo meal—portions were quite small which cost RM90++, so we had added extra spaghetti and the food lacked flavor. The grilled chicken and boneless lamb were just so so. Staff were generally polite, and the environment was pleasant. However, it got a bit noisy at times when staff chatted and occasionally raised their voices to each other.
Wong W — Google review
I recently dined at the Rock Stone Grill restaurant near my place, and it was a delightful experience from the moment I stepped in. The warm and cheerful "Welcome" upon entering the restaurant set a positive tone, and it was clear that the staff genuinely enjoyed working there. For my meal, I ordered the satay chicken chop with salmon. The flavors were satisfying, and the portion was just right for two people, unless you're a hearty eater. The price of approximately RM39.9 felt reasonable. The highlight was the stone grilling experience, though I must caution about the hot juice that might splatter if you get too close. Keeping a distance is advised! If you're still hungry, you can opt for their mini buffet bar at just RM4.9. This allows you to freely choose from a variety of dishes like fried rice, mashed potato, garden potatoes, pasta, and salads. It's an excellent way to ensure your hunger is fully satisfied. The restaurant's ambiance is a bit on the loud side due to its high ceiling design, but the tables are well spaced to provide a comfortable dining experience without feeling crowded. There are also plenty of long tables suitable for families. However, it's worth noting that the smoky smell from the stone grilling might stick to your clothing. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. I truly appreciated their service and I'm looking forward to returning. I highly recommend the Rock Stone Grill for its enjoyable dining experience and flavorful dishes.

Dinner time have to queue up long. Request skewer change the meat but rejected due to they afraid “厨房员工怕搞乱了”😅😅 All food have to SELF SERVICE. Never mention how long had the meat put on the rock stone in the kitchen before serving and time for grilling🫣. Add on RM5 have fried rice, mashes potato, salad, tom yam soup, and vegetables, but no fruit. Mashes potato taste good. 2pax set cost for 95+, add on mango yogurts ice dessert and service charge cost up to RM130+. Got free voucher too.

Foods are averagely good . Price is a little bit at the hight side. RM 4.9 mini buffet is worth. Ventilation can be improved, clothes and hair full of smoke smell after the meal

Not bad. Have been having stonegrill since 20 years ago. But the branches in Aeon tebrau and pelangi have closed down.. First time having this in the new branch in eco botanic.. prefer the previous way they served their tom yum soup noodles.. But overall still not bad, the chicken chop is still having the same quality as compared to last time..

Authentic Japanese restaurant
Minkan Yakiniku is a Japanese restaurant in Johor Bahru known for its authentic outdoor Japanese fusion BBQ experience. The warm and comfortable atmosphere is enhanced by the long wood tables and chairs. In addition to a good selection of meats like pork, beef, chicken, and seafood, they also serve ramen and fried rice. The meat portions are generous, with options like smoked duck, pork belly, and marinated chicken chop.
Great vibe and relaxing atmosphere for bbq Yakiniku, main dish, snacks, beer Affordable price with generous portion! Recommend the pork belly and smoked duck Average RM40/pax
Joanne L — Google review
Outdoor charcoal bbq, good selection of meat (pork, beef and chicken) and seafood. Meat portion generous - ordered the meat platter (RM58) which included smoked duck, pork belly, pork neck, marinated chicken chop and marinated pork belly with unlimited refill of side dishes (kimchee, edamame, pickled cucumbers). Other than meat, glad to have options like white button mushrooms and kawahagi which is quite uncommon in bbq places. For seafood, ordered oysters as multiple Google reviews recommended however felt the scallops and tiger prawns were better than the oysters. Oysters and scallops came with garlic chili oil to be topped when bbq. Sauces wise, different variety from Thai style green chili dip, to red chili powder to wasabi mayonnaise. Personal favourite is the Thai style green chili dip. Service wise, pretty prompt however subsequent order of food took awhile as the staff needed to defrost the food. Kimchee also, however understandable as to keep the kimchee taste consistent (not over fermented). Ambience wise, can be quite hot (dined on a Saturday night) though they have big fans around. Do bring a portable fan.
YP S — Google review
I've been a regular customer since they opened. The portion size of the meat is really generous, and the prices are very affordable. Unfortunately, in the past, they had a lot of options for ingredients, but now it's a bit reduced, especially my favorite chicken cartilage, which is no longer available—so sad! Other than that, everything is perfect: the environment and location are great, and the meat is always fresh. The only downside is that during busy times, the main dishes like fried rice can be a bit slow.
Cecy B — Google review
Nice spot for BBQ lover, highly recommended for their pork , steaks and Unagi. Windy and breezy opened space with multiple fans operated, you won’t worry about the heat and smoke from the barbecue. Friendly and helpful staffs provide good services, the price is very affordable. But the alcoholic drink is slightly pricy.

You can get really affordable charcoal grill bbq & oysters here 🦪! ps. Do take note that the flies might come kacau you when you’re enjoying your meal

Just had dinner here with my friend, the overall atmosphere is quite nice as its open-aired, however the food portion was smaller compared to the ones showed in the menu. Service was also quite slow, had to wait 30mins for the raw food and fire to be set up before starting to cook. There’s also not enough tables so we dined on mamak tables :(

Highlights their tiger prawn, Other than that, everything is acceptable, nice environment! In between carpark and bar, enjoy free live music, and few steps can reach your car. Really a strategic location.

Kopi Lah Plaza Pelangi is a newly opened coffee shop that offers a delightful dining experience, despite some initial hiccups typical of new establishments. The ambiance features an industrial theme, making it a trendy spot to hang out with friends. While the food and drinks are generally tasty—like the hot nasi lemak with delicious sambal and the flavorful mee kari—the service can be a bit slow as they work through their early days.
I dining with my friends around 10am. Not crowded that time. Specially staff service so good. Foods prepared nicely and really tasty😌. Prize also affordable. Highly recommend this place to dining.
Gihan J — Google review
I tried the Chicken Rice and Wan Tan Mee both were just okay, nothing to shout about. The soup was the biggest letdown; it tasted like it was reheated from the previous day, which was quite disappointing. However, I’ve had their curry laksa before, and that was actually quite good flavourful and satisfying. Overall, hit-or-miss experience. Would come back only for the curry laksa, but not for the other dishes.

My first time had our meal here. We tried mee kari, croissant & kaya toast with teh tarik, kopi tarik and lemon ice. The meal were delicious. Love the mee kari. The place design with industrial theme. Good place to hang out with friends to have some meal.
Ani M — Google review
The food here was good just a bit too oily and the price was high. Love the nasi lemak, it was served hot and the sambal was super good acar too! The roti canai was normal and the curry too. The laksa here wasn’t too thick if prefer lighter broth this is a good place for laksa.
Xaxxolonch — Google review
So came here ordered a lime juice less ice, it came half glass. I confronted the waiter, he said he measured according to the spoon level i don't know what kind of level is that but honestly this is a huge scam by restaurant since he said half more of the glass was supposed to be ice. I was like I rather drink ice water than paying for a bloody lime juice that taste nothing. Secondly, the food is not even nice, I clearly stated "no acar and no ikan bilis", guess what the food came with it and the waiter's response was the chef did not understand what I wrote, then how is it my fault. I just wanna laugh at how certain businesses is being run by being stingy on their ingredients or whatsover
Keshan S — Google review
Weekday lunch, the place is not too packed. It’s located in the mall. The mee siam is slightly spicy with dried shrimp and the curry tastes nice.

Step in this shop that just opened for the second day. Tried a lot of foods here. Foods all taste good. All are delicious. Coffee can be improved. Price is also quite reasonable. The only negative side is the aircon not cold in here.
Pan T — Google review
I visited this newly opened coffee shop today. It is clean but a little stuffy and smoky. I really hope they can do something about it. The food and drinks were quite good though it was served a little slow. But I understand that there might be a lot of hiccups because the place is new. The staffs were polite and attended to us immediately. Ordering was by QR code, though hopefully in the future, they can have menus with pictures, or have the pictures on the wall, so we don't have to scroll through our phones for the list.

This is probably the best Japanese restaurant in JB. Excellent and authentic Japanese food of the highest standard. Ingredients (fish, seafood, etc) are flown in fresh from Japan on a near daily basis. The service is fantastic. The head chef and the team are highly skilled.

We chanced upon this place, hence we went for ala carte instead of their more popular omakase experience. We ordered cold udon and a green soba, served with raw tiny bird egg to be added to the cold broth. We also had their yakidori, chicken karaage and vegetable tempura. All the food above will be very familiar to any person who have ever eaten at a Japanese restaurant, but I must admit, it really tasted good here and I could not explain why. Very simple dishes, simple ingredient, but just nice. I was tempted to give a 4-star because it is not cheap. About RM50 per pax with no beverage ordered, just complimentary green tea. (There were 4 of us and we shared food). Oh yes, it is also quite fun watching the guys cook in the open kitchen right in front of you. Chef Hari Hari-mau is of course a very friendly guy who will tell you that 95% of his ingredients comes from Japan. :) Overall, a happy dining experience.
Wye T — Google review
Absolutely the most authentic tasting Japanese meal I've had in Johor Bahru, everything was delicious! The shrimp tampura tasted fresh and juicy on the inside yet crunchy on the outside just the way it should, the miso soup was thick and full of flavor, and the complimentary Genmaicha tea was a nice touch. The lunchtime menu is more reasonable and not too pricey, we plan on returning.
