Nestled in the charming village of Grasmere, The Daffodil Hotel & Spa offers a chic and modern retreat with stunning views of the lake. Since its opening in 2012, this hotel has aimed to provide tailored experiences for discerning travelers. The well-appointed rooms, designed by interior expert Paul Sawford, boast comfort and style, many offering picturesque lake views. Guests can indulge in an upscale dining experience featuring a contemporary Afternoon Tea curated by talented Pastry Chef Sarah.
We completely enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The hotel staff, rooms, location and everything was just absolutely welcoming and warm. We loved the hospitality given by the staff, specially Mr. Mosses who even went ahead and gave us an early checkin and room upgrade. The breakfast here was superb too. The hotel even have lifts which made it going up & down with heavy lugguages hassle free

Having visited this hotel the previous October in 2024, we were keen to return as we'd had a lovely time. Unfortunately the Junior suite we'd booked had a faulty blind which looked awful and there were stains on the carpet. To the credit of the lovely receptionist, we were moved immediately to a better suite and all seemed fine. However as time went on we both noticed a drainy smell in the bathroom which got worse over the 3 nights we were there. In the restaurant, particularly on the Friday evening of Storm Amy, the staff were great but overworked and there were delays to the service. We had also been told at reception that the kitchen could not adapt the menu to accommodate us vegetarians. Unable to leave the hotel due to the storm, we decided to go straight to the restaurant and see what would happen. Again, the staff were very helpful and said it was no problem to create food for us. Not sure why the chap at reception had said otherwise. Our overall impression this time around was that the hotal generally seemed tired and not so polished. The setting is wonderful, our view was lovely and most of the staff including maintenance were great. However, a revamp is maybe needed to bring the rooms up to the level expected. Also more staff would help to ease the burden at very busy meal times.

I am so impressed by this hotel. It is immaculate, seems recently refurbished and has excellent facilities. Staff are polite, helpful and attentive. The rooms are great and we had a spacious bathroom with large bath. The spa is very clean and has an excellent sauna and steam room. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed an evening watching the sunset on the terrace facing the lake. The bee hives on the grounds are really cool too. Highly recommend, will return. In particular, thank you to the staff at breakfast who go above and beyond with a smile even amidst rude guests.

A Charming Lakeside Retreat with Just a Few Quirks – The Daffodil Hotel & Spa My wife and I recently enjoyed a delightful stay at The Daffodil Hotel & Spa in the breathtaking Lake District, and let me tell you, the setting alone is worth the trip! The walks we embarked on were nothing short of spectacular – truly breathtaking vistas at every turn. First impressions? The staff here are simply superb. From check-in to check-out, everyone was more than helpful, incredibly polite, and utterly professional. A real credit to the hotel! The hotel itself is wonderfully clean and nicely decorated, with a lovely modern feel. Our room was a good size, spotlessly clean, and offered a truly comfy haven with a glorious view out onto the lake. The bathroom was equally impressive, with a generously sized and seemingly brand-new bath – perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day of exploring. Now, for a couple of gentle observations. The spa, while perfectly functional, felt a little more "home spa" than luxurious escape. Think cosy rather than expansive. It features a small pool with a built-in spa section, one sauna, and one steam room. While that might sound like plenty, with more than a handful of guests, it could get a tad "cozy" – perhaps a little too intimate for some! Dining was a bit of a mixed bag. Initially, peeking at other diners' plates, we thought we were in for a treat, but the menu turned out to be a touch limited and the flavours, dare I say, a little bland. However, our waiter was fantastic – again, helpful and incredibly polite, saving the day with his excellent service. Breakfast was a buffet affair, which, personally, isn't my favourite style (but hey, that's just me!). The coffee, a filter brew, had us raising an eyebrow. It resembled dishwater more than a morning pick-me-up, and we had to politely request a stronger re-brew. All that being said, we genuinely enjoyed our time at The Daffodil. Despite a few minor quibbles, the incredible location, wonderful staff, and comfortable room really shone through. We're happy to give it a solid four-star rating. Perhaps a 3.5 if that were an option, but since it's not, we felt compelled to nudge it up a tad for the sheer joy of those stunning Lake District views and the genuinely lovely people who work there.
JR N — Google review
We had an awkward moment upon arrival. We knew we were early and had already completed the online check in the night before. When we went to reception, we were simply told "we're dealing with check outs right now". No offer to go and sit in the bar or on the terrace, just come back later. Strange behaviour for any hotel, let alone a 4 star one. The room was quite large, with the usual complimentary tea and coffee, but strangely there was no fridge, and it being a birthday break, we had perishable goods that were slightly spoiled as a result. The bathroom had a large bath and separate shower, with good pressure. The view was spectacular! We saw the sun hitting the tops of the peaks in the morning through one window, and saw it disappear in the evening through the other windows, both having French doors and a Juliet balcony. The spar has a pool, with several areas offering different features. There's also a sauna and steam room as well as a range of treatments for an additional fee. The first day it was fairly quiet but on the second it became quite busy. We went on a long hike from a nearby town and when we got back to the room, although housekeeping had serviced it, they'd left a dirty glass next to the bed and the complimentary water hadn't been replaced. Minor things but when you're desperate for a cuppa and you have to go out to get water, it does detract a little from the experience. We went to the bar for a drink after dinner and were surprised that they didn't have the best selection of wines available. When we ordered a cocktail, what turned up at the table wasn't the one we'd ordered. The bar area itself (in the entrance lobby) gave the feel of a waiting room, with no atmosphere and seating that could do with some tlc. The bar upstairs was actually quite depressing so we took our drinks back to the room. When the sun hits the outdoor terrace, it's a beautiful spot to sit quietly and enjoy the views of the lake and the valley. If you're an aviation buff, seeing, then hearing the low level fighter jets passing by is something to behold! All that being said, we had a fantastic time and would recommend it to anyone wanting a break in the lakes.

Edited review: Moses, the Reception Manager is one of the nicest and kindest person to deal with. We had issues on our previous stay however he made sure we don’t have bad experience and looked after us from the moment we complained. Rooms need refurbishment and it’s the owners task to do. They must invest money into it to keep the hotel on good standards. Staff: AMAZING Spa: BRILLIANT Please, make sure the hotel gets refurbished this is the only way to make people come back.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff. We stayed in a club room and added the rose petals to our stay. The view from the window was of the car park, but when lying in bed all you could see were the trees and distant fells - ideal really! The bath was spacious and had a separate hose for rinsing hair which was a nice touch.

Nestled between the market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa is a luxurious resort with a rich history dating back to the 11th century. The hotel offers a unique afternoon tea experience that combines traditional elements with international flavors, served in various scenic locations overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake. Set within 400 acres of stunning gardens, a deer park, and private woodland, the hotel provides an idyllic backdrop for relaxation and indulgence.
This hotel is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The building is historic and it’s beautifully maintained, clean, and full of charm. The spa is relaxing and spotless, a true highlight of our stay. The hotel is incredibly pet-friendly, which made traveling with our dog so easy and enjoyable. The staff? Absolutely outstanding. Every single person we interacted with was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell they love what they do. The food was delicious. And the location couldn’t be better; quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything we needed. This place has it all: charm, comfort, service, and a truly welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back, and you should go too!

We recently returned to Armathwaite Hall for a five-day engagement stay, and it was the most perfect and beautiful experience imaginable. It was here, just two weeks prior to our stay, that my now-fiancé surprised me with a proposal that I will cherish forever. A huge thank you goes to Louise, who was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to set up our proposal area. She perfectly arranged the space with romantic touches, including roses, candlelit lanterns, and chilled champagne. I am so grateful for her assistance in making our special moment feel like a fairy tale. Our stay was absolutely magical, and we can't recommend Armathwaite Hall enough for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion in a truly stunning location.

Booked for my daughter’s 18th. There was a little hiccup with the booking but Will sorted it and went above and beyond to make sure everything was ok. The lady on the desk was lovely. What makes this place is the staff they are so lovely, I can’t thank you enough my daughter will never forget her time here, I actually struggled to get her to leave. Beautiful place. Thankyou very much.

We had a wonderful mini-moon at Armathwaite, with lovely dinners both nights at The Grill. The service from Joanna, Matthew and Guru was outstanding - with personal recommendations! Would recommend to anyone who wants to explore the quieter side of the Lake District, with lots of beautiful scenery and things to enjoy nearby

Afternoon tea: We have visited for afternoon tea on numerous occasions and the standard is always high. Today was no exception. Lovely attentive staff, excellent selection of savoury and sweet treats. Offered iced water along with choice of teas/coffees (some of the other guests had opted for cold drinks). A lovely experience.

we arrived to a 15% extra charge on the room apparently its in a email i didn't receive. The room was old stuffy and tired, paint is pealing from the bathroom ceiling ,tiles missing and dirty carpet. The fine dining experience was just that fine and massively over priced . We ordered room service our food took over a hour to arrive when it finally came it was stone cold and inedible. When we checked out i had to ask the lady to repeat herself because i didn't understand the bill she looked annoyed and obviously couldn't be bothered to explain . upside the hotel is a wonderful building and the location is second to none.

A beautiful venue. Restaurant staff were amazing and couldn't do enough to help. Most reception staff were helpful but one of the wedding helpers were rude and unhelpful. Rooms were large with good views but too hot. No air con just a small fan. Expensive to not sleep due to heat.

This was our second stay in a Garden Suite at Armathwaite (last year was Room 146, which was lovely_. We asked for something closer to the main building this time, as there's a line of lime trees and more that obscure the lake view - still lovely but Bassenthwaite is pretty spectacular! This time we had Room 140 - a larger garden suite with a large high ceiling living area. Pretty impressive! And both the bedroom and living room opened up onto a large terrace (there are comfortable recliners to enjoy the sunshine in all these suites). We could partly see the lake - although a mighty yew tree was in the way this time. Can't really complain though. The room was again lovely with a high end contemporary designer's touch - with a huge accessible shower room/bathroom (it doesn't look "accessible" as it's very well done - so no awkward compromises). Service from start to finish was great - all the staff were willing and friendly. Obviously a very well oiled machine at work keeping standards high. A delight in this day and age! We always appreciate the gorgeous public rooms and a lovely sunny terrace with lake views. We loved the new spa tub - though timing is important if you don't want too many people sharing it (probably avoid early evening). The pool and spa area wasn't crowded and all very nicely done. Food and drink-wise we had a great breakfast and afternoon tea. Our only disappointment was the Grill Room: in spite of great service and nice decor, as even though the steak itself I had was excellent, everything else was very mediocre and not exactly cheap either. If you go, I suggest sticking to just steak (I imagine the burger would be good too) and not much else. Having said that, we'd absolutely love to return - and undoubtedly will. The place itself, rooms, staff the and location are fantastic. Keep up the good work. Next time maybe we can just have a chateaubriand! And I believe there's a suite with a roof terrace that looks amazing - next time, next time…

Nestled on 50 acres of picturesque landscape, Langdale Hotel & Spa offers a luxurious retreat with stylish rooms, a top-notch spa, and various dining options including fine-dining, a pub, bistro, and bar. The Brimstone Spa within the hotel is set amidst 35 acres of woodlands and waterways, providing a serene environment for guests to indulge in luxury relaxation experiences inspired by the stunning Lakeland scenery.
Absolutely brilliant, perfect place for a weekend getaway. Would recommend for those looking for serene areas. The spa is wonderful, sauna room, shock shower, jacuzzi / hot tub & steam room, with a fairly decent sized pool. Although the room is nothing to talk much about, there were heated floors in the bathroom and a button outside of the bathroom which allows for the shower to turn on, which is simply a nice touch. Every staff is super nice, would never complain about a single one of them.

We came as part of a group tour, overall enjoyed the stay. Our part of the lodge was quiet, I know some others in our group has so noisey neighbors. The staff were always nice at the restaurant, we had some great meals there. We liked their breakfast buffet. Room was comfortable, we appreciated the fan provided since it was extra warm during our stay.

Place is a rip off and I would not recommend to anyone. Lots of hidden extras and CGI photos to make everything look more luxury than what it is. Spa is £85 extra per person (no - this doesn't include any treatments) and this is on top of steep prices per night for dated rooms. If you want just a pool, please note you have free access in the leisure centre, just be prepared to share this with the local community but very crowded during the holidays so essentially not usable. We were staying in a room with poor natural light which felt like we were in a basement (it's on the ground floor and half of the view is a wall! It's also a pathway so you can't leave the blinds open much for privacy. This picture really doesn't give the poor light justice), I'd love to know who thought this was an acceptable room to offer anyone, or even someone on such a special milestone. To get something with even a view of a car park it's £10 extra (yes we ended up upgrading for better natural light at least). For even my 30th they wanted an extra £18 for chocolates - not even a small treat they'd give which is pretty standard in places charging this price per night. Worst experience I'm still having to endure and I feel horrible for my partner who drove so far thinking the experience would've been the best we've experienced in 10 years together. I won't break his heart - but instead write this review to warn others - lower your expectations and come with disposable income you can afford to lose and you'll be ok. Highlights - breakfast was nice, and dinner waiter Catyln (I believe her name resembled) also very nice.

Disappointing Experience Despite High Expectations I had dinner at The Stove Restaurant and Bar, and unfortunately, the evening fell well below expectations. The booking process started off promisingly with friendly customer service when entering the restaurant to book a table, and we managed to secure a table for 20:45, knowing the kitchen closed at 21:30. We arrived early and decided to enjoy cocktails at the bar beforehand. However, we sat for around 20 minutes without even an acknowledgment from staff before being served. When our cocktails finally arrived, we were shown to our table — but no water was offered, the menu wasn’t explained, and when we asked about specials, our waitress didn’t know. When my partner tried to order a starter, the waitress came back three separate times to inform us each dish we picked was unavailable. Once we eventually placed our order, the food arrived quickly. Unfortunately, the chicken and waffle starter was extremely greasy and lacked flavour. A new staff member — who was very polite and eager to help — did his best to assist and provided extra olive oil for our roasted pepper snack, which we appreciated. For mains, the sides were cold. At that point, I was so disappointed that I didn’t even feel it was worth raising the issue and just wanted to finish the meal and leave. I understand we had a later booking towards the end of service, but given the premium cost of the accommodation and the reputation of the resort, the service and food quality were far below what should be offered. Sadly, this experience has left me reluctant to return.
Phil R — Google review
This is a review of the luxury brimstone spa. Our experience was overpriced and wholly disappointing. The staff barely spoke to us, ignored questions we asked and at no stage offered us a drink. Dirty glasses were left by the pool. The hot tub is cold and the changing rooms lack any products like body moisturiser and there is no where to dry your costume. I will not return.
Delyth W — Google review
We stayed in a basic room so only 3 stars but there are much nicer rooms available but of course you pay more. Breakfast was very good in a nice setting outside as was a beautiful morning. Water wheel is very impressive. I'd say it's worth a stay there. Lakes are fantastic!

Lovely hotel and fantastic Spa services. The Spa facilities included a wide range of novel experiences, such as himalayan salt steam room and herbal sauna. The massage services were professional, and the experience was overall great. Would definitely recommend!

A truly fabulous location and clean well ordered hotel with pleasant rooms. It's hard to justify the prices charged however and some may consider the value for money aspect and feel that the glorious location is not the only thing they wish to pay a premium price to enjoy?

Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa is a 19th-century landmark hotel that offers refined rooms with complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi. Situated overlooking Derwentwater and the Skiddaw and Catbells fells, this dog-friendly hotel seamlessly combines traditional charm with modern amenities. The Victorian building has been expanded to include a luxurious spa and suites in a lodge-style structure.
Lovely hotel and spa! Staff were fantastic and the hotel overall was absolutely lovely. Our only very small criticism was that our room felt a little dated. However, we have heard that some of the more recently refurbished rooms are stunning. Meals were all lovely and the spa speaks for itself. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I recently stayed at The Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa and overall the experience was pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast offered a wide variety of choices. Dinner was enjoyable too, with both traditional English dishes and some Asian options available. The spa facilities were relaxing and the environment was good. The treatments were fine, though I felt they could have been a bit stronger to be more effective. However, one thing that left me genuinely disappointed was that I had been told there would be a small gift on my birthday, but this was forgotten on the day. It may seem minor, but when something is promised to a guest, not following through can be more disappointing than if nothing had been mentioned at all. Overall, it was a lovely stay with many positives, but I do hope the hotel can pay more attention to keeping their promises to guests in the future.

What an amazing place this is. The location is fantastic with the falls and the stunning surrounding area. It was only a 1 night stay but everything was excellent. The room was in the annexe building and was perfect, with plenty of room and even a dining table in it. A proper walk in dressing room with gowns, slippers and a fridge with drinks. We used the spa, but didn't have the time to use all the facilities. However, early evening outside in the heated pool was a great experience. In the evening we ate in the Mizu restaurant which was very good, the staff were attentive and we had great service. All the staff we came into contact with were really good.

I’m not usually one for writing reviews, but I felt this stay deserved one. Our visit to Lodore Falls very nearly didn’t happen – when I first called to book meals and spa reservations, the staff member I spoke to came across quite abruptly, and I was honestly close to cancelling the whole trip. We all have bad days though, and thankfully I decided to try again. The second time I rang, I spoke with Jess in the spa, and she completely turned things around. From the moment she answered the phone she was warm, professional, and genuinely helpful. She not only put my mind at ease but has been brilliant in every interaction since – Jess really saved the day. On arrival, we were greeted by Jodie on reception, who was just as impressive. She was polite, engaging, and made check-in a pleasure rather than a chore. That kind of welcome makes such a difference and set the tone for the rest of our stay. The hotel itself is in a stunning setting, and once we got settled in, we were able to really relax and enjoy everything Lodore Falls has to offer. What could have been a disappointing start turned into a fantastic experience thanks to the kindness and professionalism of Jess and Jodie.

Beautiful Hotel, but Breakfast Fell Short I recently stayed at The Lodore Hotel and was very impressed with its beautiful location and high standard of accommodation. The surroundings are stunning, and the staff were consistently courteous and attentive throughout my stay. The evening meal in the Mizu restaurant was excellent — beautifully presented, full of flavour, and complemented by friendly, efficient service. It was a real highlight of our stay. I didn’t dine in the brasserie, so I can’t comment directly, but it appeared to offer a relaxed and inviting setting. However, I felt that the breakfast did not quite meet the standard expected of a hotel of this quality. The bacon and black pudding were both rather hard, the sausages lacked quality, the porridge was watery, and the avocado on toast was served as a purée in a pot beside a plain slice of toast — disappointing for such a well-regarded establishment. By contrast, we recently stayed at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal, where breakfast was superb, with excellent bacon, black pudding from the Scottish Isles, and proper Cumberland sausages. Even Lakeland Plastics Café in Windermere offered a far superior breakfast, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The spa facilities were lovely, though access comes at an additional cost, which feels notable given the already premium price. Also, rooms at the rear overlook buildings rather than the lake, which is worth considering when booking. Overall, The Lodore offers a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting with excellent service — but a few refinements to the breakfast offering would make it truly exceptional.

I had such a lovely time here last night! Eileen on reception was fabulous, and I really enjoyed my room and spa experience. The hotel seemed well maintained and it was immaculate throughout. I didn’t eat here but I did enjoy a few glasses of prosecco by the pool outside in the evening 👀 the girl on the bar was good fun! Would absolutely recommend ☺️

We enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect. From the food and the hotel and the spa. At the spa the therapist holly for the facial was professional and I enjoyed it and the products they used are really good. I just wanted to say that the first room we booked was downstairs but then we paid a couple more pounds to get upgraded and it was so worth it. So if you do end up staying in a room downstairs just upgrade your room was worth i4

we booked a 3 night stay at the hotel as we were looking at choosing it for our wedding (booked for the showcase but after our stay we decided it was a no unfortunately) After getting the keys and entering our room, we found ourselves in an extremely dated room that smelt very strongly of an older lady’s perfume ( can’t be helped by the hotel I understand) so I went to reception to forward my disappointment on A the room and B the smell. We were told there was no option to upgrade which was fair enough and we were moved to the “newly renovated” standard room We couldn’t get the tv to work properly and found the bed was two single mattresses pushed together which was disappointing to say the least considering I was paying nearly £300 per night. The lift was an absolute no from me it was tiny and extremely dated, only my partner could fit with our suitcase, this was one of the big things for us to not choose it as a wedding venue as I have family members that are wheelchair users. After reading the reviews on food we decided against eating at the hotel so I couldn’t give my true opinion on this. After all of the above the highlight of the trip was definitely our twighlight spa session, couldn’t fault the experience after thinking it was going to have a snobby feel, it definitely didn’t, the guests using were lovely as were the staff, fabulous experience I’d go to the spa again but would definitely stay in a different hotel.

Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa is a lakeside lodging in the Lake District offering traditional-style rooms and a variety of facilities. The resort provides options for dining, including the unique Wood-Fired Afternoon Tea with sweet and savory delights. Guests can enjoy meals cooked over a 3-meter long woodfired grill at Blue Smoke on the Bay or savor classic British and continental dishes at the newly refurbished Windermere Restaurant - The W.
We stayed here as part of a spa package with my partner. We were both celebrating a 50th jointly. The service, and experience from start to finish was world class. There are some stand outs I need to mention. Sofia for sorting our room out with a bath and gell view, and a lighting situation. Logan being the best concierge and helping open the jammed french door for fresh air. Justin at Blue Smoke for being so flexible with lunch options and of course the very jovial Mel who served us a smashing breakfast on both mornings. Nothing was too much trouble and the communications were great. Amelia and Adrian both found out answers to our many question at the “W” restaurant on the 1st night of arrival. Yes it is more than your average, but you truly pay for what you get in this case. This was a memorable weekend and boy did the staff deliver and went above and beyond. Thank-you so much for your attentiveness, kindness and absolutely marvellous manners.

Visited for the Thermal Experience for our anniversary. By far the best spa we have been to, staff are very attentive and friendly, facilities all very clean and not too busy when we visited on a weekday afternoon. Very relaxing, beautiful location. We felt it was good value for money given all the facilities and some complimentary snacks. The afternoon tea was also very tasty and again staff very friendly.

Photographing a wedding at Low Wood Bay was definitely one of the highlights of my year. It was an Italian wedding, and the team there truly knew how to host a celebration that felt full of life and joy. The chandeliers and interior design make the venue look incredible and full of character. From the outside it may appear to be just a spa, but once inside you realise it holds so many beautiful surprises that make it truly one of a kind. The staff were fantastic, treating every supplier with the same kindness and care as their guests, which is something that really makes this venue stand out. Nestled in the heart of the Lake District, it also offers scenery that’s hard to match, giving every photograph a cinematic feel. A 10/10 venue that combines elegance, warmth, and unforgettable views.

I attended low wood bay resort & spa and from what we could see it looked lovely, we were welcomed as soon as we walked in, taken to our meeting room. The bar areas we really nice, even though it felt like a maze when you went from outside back in to find the meeting rooms. But it just added to the character of the place. There was a lovely outside court yard with heaters and blankets. I thought the hotel seemed lovely, and I am looking to book it for a little romantic break.

I visited Low Wood Bay Spa for the 3-hour thermal journey and it was an incredible experience. The amenities are top-notch, with beautiful facilities and thoughtful touches throughout. Being able to order drinks directly from the pool added a touch of luxury, and I really appreciated the free snacks and cold face towels that were brought around periodically – they made the whole experience feel very well looked after. The spa itself would easily have been a five-star experience. However, I was left disappointed with the treatment I booked. For the price (around £100 on top of the spa package), I expected a premium experience, but it fell far short. We were taken in after our scheduled time, and the treatment itself finished well before it should have – lasting only around 25–30 minutes. For that cost, it simply didn’t feel worth it and took away from what was otherwise an outstanding visit. Overall, the spa journey is absolutely worth it and I’d recommend it without hesitation, but I’d caution others about booking treatments given the poor value for money.

I have been to many spas in the US and overseas. I must say that this was the best one ever. Although I have been to spas with more pools than this one (they have quite a few) it is quality over quantity in this case. The spa is spotless. The facilities perfect with changing areas and toiletries, showers, etc. The indoor and outdoor pools have a variety of temperatures. The attendants are attentive. I have never seen a spa that has so much enticing finger food available and people coming around with the best looking cupcakes, etc. My massage was excellent. I would return in a heartbeat! I did not stay in the hotel, only went to the spa for the day.

Hands down, the best spa ever. The attention to detail in here is amazing. The amount of places and pool, and hot tubs and rooms are unreal The lil relax room you go into before a treatment is amazing, and then even better is the relaxation room after The staff coming round with frozen towels and fruit ect was an amazing touch We had the wood smoked afternoon tea. Genius idea, would love to take my husband back to try it This place is worth every penny

My partner and I recently visited Low Wood Bay for an overnight stay with spa access, and unfortunately, we left feeling quite disappointed overall. When booking, we called the hotel directly and were redirected to a third-party system to book our stay and spa access. We weren’t told that this only included the basic indoor facilities, and when we arrived, we were informed that access to the outdoor area came at an additional cost. We decided to pay the extra £25 each the next morning, but weren’t told that half the outdoor facilities didn’t open until 10am, despite being advised to go at 7:30am. Once we got in the sauna the staff working on cleaning the pool came and stood in the sauna with us trying to dry off because it was raining which seemed very unprofessional. We only managed around 30 minutes of use as most things were closed. Throughout our visit, communication from staff was poor. When my partner raised the issue afterwards, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. Our meal at Blue Smoke was another letdown. We ordered the Châteaubriand steak for two, which came piled onto a small sizzling plate—completely different from what’s shown online. The sauce portions were tiny (about a quarter full), and when we politely asked for more, we were charged again. For the price, we expected a much higher standard of both food and service. Breakfast the next morning wasn’t much better. We were served coffee twice after ordering tea, and overall the meal was mediocre at best. Considering the price and reputation of Low Wood Bay, our experience felt overrated and overpriced.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Windermere, Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa offers a picturesque lakeside retreat with stunning views and charming amenities. The hotel features a warm restaurant, a bar, a spa, a boat dock, and an indoor pool. Guests can enjoy the graceful ambiance overlooking rolling gardens and private jetties from rooms with balconies. The wellness offerings include luxurious Elemis treatments and a large indoor pool.
Me & my husband had a lovely stay. All of the staff were friendly & helpful. Delicious 3 course dinner & great breakfast. Extra treat to use the spa facilities too. Couldn't ask for a better view when eating our meals & having a relax in the hotel lounge. Lovely traditional English hotel.

Lovely old Hotel. Comfy bed. Nice and warm. Good bathroom but no complimentary extras. Pump soaps in shower but no washcloths? Dining room for breakfast was really nice. The black pudding and hash browns were a bit dry but a really nice selection of fruits to go with cereals. Good pot of coffee and the wait staff in the dining room were 10/10.

I stayed at this hotel from the 1st to the 3rd of August with my two children. I’ll start with the positives: The location is fantastic,, I absolutely loved it! The hotel lounge offers a beautiful view of the lake, and enjoying an afternoon tea there is truly special. It’s also very conveniently located, close to many restaurants, pubs, and bars. Breakfast was okay,, not amazing, but decent enough to start the day and the service was slow but acceptable. Now for the negatives: When we arrived to check in, there were two ladies at reception. One referred us to the other, who immediately seemed upset and said to her colleague, Did you refer them to me?They then started arguing in front of us, which felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Our room was okay but not great. The toilet didn’t flush properly, which was frustrating. There’s also no air conditioning, which could be uncomfortable in summer,, although luckily the weather was fine during our stay. Service in the lounge was disappointing. I went to order afternoon tea to enjoy the view, but after bringing the food, they forgot the actual tea. I had to remind them three times, and even then, the tea only arrived after about half an hour, without any apology. When I said “thank you,” the bartender didn’t even respond, which felt rude and unwelcoming. Overall, the location and views are wonderful, but the service and some aspects of the facilities could be improved.

The service here was incredible the staff so friendly and welcoming, the environment is clean. We used the spa facilities, which were great, we didn't get any treatments on the day but did use the pool, ice shower, steam room and the sauna followed the afternoon tea, that had a good selection of sweet and savoury choices. We was given choices as to where we'd like to sit, the staff member showed us a few tables and also suggested the best seat for the perfect view. Thank you very much for hosting us. We didn't use any of the rooms as we did a day trip.

Like a lot of other Macdonald hotels I’ve stayed in recently they are all in need of an upgrade. The location could not have been better and as we had upgraded to a deluxe king and it had great views down the lake but the room itself had stains on the wall and worn seats. The bed itself was very comfortable and the bathroom clean with a large walk in shower. The disappoint was that we had to pay an additional £25 per day for car parking in the hotels car park and even worse they had an additional £5 charge at breakfast for meals other than the full English such as eggs Benedict or avocado on toast, which you would normally expect from other hotels to be standard I would encourage anyone to visit the area as it is stunning with lovely shops, bars and restaurants, but don’t expect a 4 star hotel experience if you choose the Old England .
Andy G — Google review
The hotel overall is lovely, the views are incredible! But for me the rooms could have been subpar and i still would have given 5* ans that all because of the staff. Ive never been to a hotel before where i am So thought, i am dairy free, more then happy to miss out on things and adapt myself, but as soon as the staff in the restaurant knew i was brought soya milk, sorbet instead of the desert everyone else had and i really loved that an appreciated that, it seemed that nothing was too much trouble I cant wait to return as a holiday guest instead of a business trip

We booked an Autumn deal, staying overnight 30th Sept 2025 in a standard room. No view but it was just a bed for the night and the views were enjoyed when walking around & sat in the restaurant. We live in Cumbria and for many years have had breaks around Windermere and the surrounding area. This was our first time at the hotel, the main draw on this occasion was the 20m pool, although having said that the weather was lovely on this day and we frequented local bars, sitting outside to enjoy the views. Would we return to the hotel = Yes we would, however there are many lovely hotels in the area for similar pricing, they do not charge a supplement for a breakfast choice and most certainly do not charge £25 for parking EACH day of your stay! The hotel is looking a bit tired in places which suprises me because of its stunning location and part of the huge McDonald chain of hotels. We paid £160+ for one night B & B + the £25 parking fee. The evening meal & wine was lovely and served in the Lakeside restaurant with stunning views of the lake, piers and marina. Breakfast was in the same restaurant. I am not a person that generally enjoys breakfast but when I do, a hotel choice is generally Salmon / eggs. I had nothing else apart from toast, coffe and fruit juice but still had to pay a supplement because I chose Salmon. The coffee was weak. Unsure re coffee brand but on the tongue a taste of herbal / fruity?? It was...ok. My wife ordered elements of a full cooked breakfast but the hash brown was missing when the meal was served. Staff = lovely and helpful as always. Reception, restaurants, bar and room cleaning. The only real negative point is the £25 per day if you use the hotel car park. Don't pay that. I have never paid anywhere near that ever! For parking. Many hotels in the immediate area do not charge a parking fee. Local streets have some limitations for parking, but if you are prepared to wait until after 5pm and move before 9am the following morning, you might find free parking. In addition and with a minutes walk, you have council car parking which is far cheaper than £25 per day. Per day!!! Overall, a nice stay, great location and set within one of the most beautiful and picturesque areas in Cumbria. Yes we would stay again, but will we - maybe not because locally we have stayed in beautiful nearby hotels, some with stunning views and all with free parking
Paul T — Google review
Quite disappointed with my recent stay. Upon checking in I was told I owed the full amount, I had to evidence this had already been paid for via my banking app transaction. Room was lovely and spacious, bed was very comfortable and was very peaceful at night. Breakfast was tasteless, scrambled eggs were soggy and the hash browns looked and tasted cheap. Only one option for coffee due to no coffee machine. The swimming pool was far too cold to swim in, and when I mentioned this to reception they couldn't have been less bothered. The views from the bar are beautiful; however, glad I booked this via a discount otherwise for the full cost of a one night stay I would have been far more disappointed.

Gilpin Hotel & Lake House offers a refined experience with high-end dining options, including a Michelin star restaurant called SOURCE, which serves daily changing tasting menus featuring locally sourced ingredients. Guests can also enjoy afternoon tea at the Lake House or pan-Asian cuisine at Gilpin Spice. The hotel features both classic and modern accommodations, with most rooms offering private hot tubs and some suites boasting private spas and cocktail bars.
This was our first time staying at the Gilpin Hotel and I couldn't have asked for anything more. From the moment of our arrival, we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, who went above and beyond to make sure we felt that we were in good hands. The atmosphere was breathtaking, the interior beautifully designed and paired with amazing food. The five stars were well deserved.

Spent a wonderful two nights at the Gilpin. It is in a beautiful spot and very quiet area. The hotel is a great place to relax and all the team are friendly and professional. Our room was excellent and a hugely comfortable bed. Dinner in Source was excellent well and worth the Michelin star why though do they have bare tables at night but tablecloths for breakfast? This increases the noise levels as the floors are hard. Spice the following night was also excellent. Lovely staff and a great bustling atmosphere with great food. I highly recommend the Gilpin.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 - A slice of luxury in the Lakes Just got back from a stay at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, and wow—what a gem. Tucked away in the stunning Lake District, the location itself is already doing half the work. Think rolling green hills, peaceful surroundings, and that clean country air that makes you forget your phone even exists. The rooms? Absolute perfection. Ours was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed, blending classic charm with modern comfort. Heated floors, a cozy fireplace, a private hot tub outside (yes, really)—every detail felt intentional. You can tell they’re not cutting corners. Service-wise, the staff were attentive without being overbearing—super professional but still warm and down-to-earth. It’s the kind of place where they remember your name but don’t hover around awkwardly. Room service was quick, and the welcome felt genuinely personal, not just “smile-for-a-tip” fake. We also stayed at the Lake House side for a night, and it’s even more tranquil—like stepping into a private spa retreat. If you’re into peaceful mornings with lakeside views and birdsong, this is your spot. Bottom line? Not cheap, but worth every penny if you’re after something special. Perfect for a romantic weekend, a quiet reset, or just treating yourself because life’s short. The Gilpin doesn’t just meet expectations—it quietly crushes them

I notified the Gilpin team of my partner's situation before we arrived, and we were treated with compassion and kindness in ways I will not soon forget. The room (Spa Suite) was stunning and offered tranquility and relaxation in abundance. The food, the oncology massage, all perfect. This hotel is truly special and will live in my memory for a long time to come. Thank you to the Gilpin team for creating some very precious memories.

I stayed at the Gilpin Hotel in June this year for my honeymoon, spending the first nights at the main hotel and the last two at the Lake House. The property is truly impressive — private, warm, and beautifully designed. However, I was notably surprised by the absence of a concierge service. It is not possible to arrange private transfers or excursions directly through the hotel. In my case, renting a car was not an option since I am not comfortable driving on the opposite side in the UK, so this made logistics more complicated. Considering it was our honeymoon, I was also disappointed that there was no special or thoughtful gesture to mark the occasion, which would have been appreciated. I would therefore recommend it mainly for guests who plan to rent a car or arrive with activities already organized. That said, it is a lovely hotel and a good choice for those who wish to enjoy fine dining and relaxation in the Lake District.

From the moment we arrived at the Gilpin Hotel, we knew we were in for something special but we never could have anticipated just how incredible our stay would be. A huge thank you to Emma at reception for the warmest of welcomes and for the welcome call just before we arrived, to Rob for looking after us so attentively, and to Tom, the Maltese manager, whose hospitality was second to none. We were staying there because we were doing the Ultra Challenge, and the entire team made sure we were not only looked after but truly pampered. Nothing was too much trouble, and they made us feel genuinely special throughout our time there. We also had the pleasure of dining at Gilpin Spice, and the food was absolutely outstanding a real highlight of the trip. Every dish was packed with flavour and beautifully presented; a true culinary treat that we won’t soon forget. The spa facilities were just the cherry on top, a perfect place to unwind and recover after the challenge. We honestly couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our stay so memorable. We would not hesitate for a second to recommend the Gilpin Hotel and all of its incredible staff. We can’t wait to return.

There are two facilities, each one has its own beauty, if you prefer the interaction and a bit busy vibes, choose the one where the restaurants are, but if you prefer more privacy, choose the lake part. Enjoyed my experience fully, the team was very friendly and attentive. the restaurant experience is a must.

Nestled in the picturesque Grasmere village, Rothay Garden Hotel & Spa offers a luxurious and tranquil retreat in the Lake District. The hotel features stylish rooms, some with private terraces, offering views of the majestic fells. The Riverside Spa provides an intimate and light-filled space for relaxation, complete with whirlpool tubs and infrared loungers. Guests can also enjoy reflexology on the hot stone walkway to soothe tired muscles after a day of exploring.
The staff were amazing and so helpful. Answering any questions we had with no problems. The room was beautiful and absolutely lovely. The views were simply stunning, especially from the spa. The ability to relax in the garden both during the day and the evening was great. Lastly the food was exceptional and being able to have a great selection gluten free. Breakfast was amazing too! Would definitely come again

A beautiful hotel with beautiful grounds and a lovely suite. The suite was very large with a queensize bed and was just so luxurious and comfortable. As well as a dressing table it had a table and two arm chairs by a large patio window which looked out onto a private sitting area and a lovely riverside view. The shower room was also large, very luxurious and a joy to use. The standard of the food was exceptional with quality breakfasts and just lovely evening meals. Also, the staff were all just so friendly and helpful and made our stay just a joy. Thank you Rothay Garden Hotel, we had a delightful stay with you and can't wait to come back.

We went for Sunday Lunch. Incredible attentive staff with brilliant knowledge of food and drink, with excellent pairings for the meal. The food was second to none and an overall very enjoyable experience. We did not stay at this hotel, but if I judge my experience on this meal, I can only imagine the quality of the rooms would easily match the quality of the food. Location, brilliant very short walk from the cooperative and centre hub on the main road. Good amount of parking also. All in all 5 star experience and 5 star recommendations!

Booked for a birthday treat. Beautiful location. Staff very friendly and prompt service. Nice touches in room and beautiful rooms but windows and bathroom looking slightly tired (helm crag room, no 27). A lot of stairs. Food delicious. Not sure why they didn't use guacamole rather than garden peas (not crushed as per menu) on breakfast with poached egg. Spa is lovely but is only small so gets busy easily and then only chairs are outside.

Rothay Garden in Grasmere delivered a lovely, relaxing stay, even with the Lake District weather doing its best to test us whilst the rest of the country enjoyed a heatwave! Booked fairly last-minute, we arrived on a rainy Friday evening to a wonderfully warm welcome - particularly from the helpful receptionist who easily adjusted our restaurant reservation so we could make the most of the half-board offer. The dining experience was great, with standout dishes like the scallops and beef fillet, and attentive, polished service throughout. Our room was spotless and inviting, complete with a lovely patio area overlooking the river - a perfect spot to unwind. Daily spa access added a real touch of luxury, especially appreciated on a wet Saturday after walking around Grasmere Lake. With a great breakfast included to start each day and complimentary gin in the room, Rothay Garden offered exceptional value, comfort, and atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back, and can’t recommend it highly enough for a relaxing, well-rounded getaway.

This upscale hotel offers well-appointed rooms overlooking Lake Windermere, along with a fine-dining restaurant and a brasserie. Wonderful location on lake, near highly recommended Aquarium, boat trips and a steam railway. Hotel has great facilities. Given a spotless, spacious suite with lovely views of lake. Excellent breakfast in elegant dining room with superb service. All staff professional, helpful and friendly. I must make particular mention of Dana who makes you feel so welcome on arrival , arranges help with baggage and for whom nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommended hotel. I have already booked to stay again!

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night, as a stop off point after travelling up to the Lake District. The hotel itself is absolutely lovely - clean, spacious and welcoming. All the staff we spoke to were kind and helpful. Breakfast was included in what we booked, and you were able to choose a hot offering that was prepared fresh, alongside helping yourself to the continental buffet. The location is breathtaking, a lovely garden with seating right on the lake to take in the views. The only thing we would say is no one was manning the spa when we visited around 5pm one day, so we were unable to request the robes and slippers that were included. Overall, a lovely stay and we would visit again.

Our first visit (for our anniversary) although our daughter has stayed many times and was wildly enthusiastic! The location is stunning - right by the lake : could not be better! The 'reception' wasn't at all 'welcoming' (very 'matter of fact' and wasn't a great start - first impressions etc!) but the room was spacious and pleasant without being 'special'. Dinner in the evening (brasserie) was a bit chaotic (understaffed, although the poor girl tried her best and was a trooper!) although the food nice and deserved better surroundings : like some other areas, a little tired (I get the impression this place is always busy!) Lots to do in the area but if you stay indoors, the pool is quite nice, although the jacuzzi didn't work. All in all, a bit of a mixed bag : the lows being the reception and a lot of noise around 'closing time' outside both nights (bins crashing - maybe we were above the kitchen?) but the high's being the breakfast and the location. Worth a visit and - compared to some hotels - pretty good value. Not sure if I'd rush back, but worth consideration!
Andy B — Google review
Fabulous location, easy parking, tastefully modernised rooms, great breakfast options & hurrah a gorgeous pool that welcomes children! The staff experience is mixed. A receptionist who couldn't be bothered to check if our room was ready 90 minutes earlier than check in. I know some rooms will be cleaned earlier than others, so always a chance. She didn't even pretend to check, just an instant No! Probably a coincidence, but checkout was even more under whelming, being asked to provide "proof" my booking through Expedia included breakfast, in front my family, grand children & other guests. I was so embarrassed. Thank goodness I took a screenshot of the website offer, as the email confirmation omitted it? ( I'm sure the hotel must have encountered this before) At the other end of the scale, the breakfast staff were exceptional, very busy but remained calm & affable. They were only staff who made any effort to engage with us. A special thank you to the manager on duty the evening of 28/10, who was brilliant in resolving a room issue, which transformed our stay. Sorry I didn't get her name but because of her & the other positives above, we will definitely return.

We were extremely impressed and the hotel exceeded our expectations completely! The decor was beautiful and looked newly renovated. The family room was large and spacious. The pool was amazing and the restaurants were very good. Service at the buffet breakfast was outstanding as well. The outside was even more incredible with beautiful views of the lake and excursions available at the doorstep. I would recommend this to anyone who is visiting the Lake District!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience. The hotel is in a beautiful location with the potential to be wonderful, especially with its spa and views. However, many aspects fell short of expectations. Reception staff were kind and did their best to help, even moving me to another room after I complained about noise and smells from outside. The first room had stained carpets, as did some corridors. The second room, an upgrade, was cleaner and nicer, but both rooms only offered a single all-in-one toiletry dispenser, which felt very cheap and out of place for a hotel. The spa has lovely garden views and good opening hours, but the changing areas lacked privacy, and the showers and floors appeared unclean and in need of refurbishment. Dining was disappointing. The restaurant had very limited options for vegetarians, vegans, or gluten-free guests, and the portions were so small that several of our group went to bed hungry. Service was slow despite the restaurant being quiet. Breakfast was similarly sparse—one mushroom, a tiny sausage, and a strip of bacon felt more like rations than a hotel breakfast. Service throughout the stay was inconsistent, ranging from helpful ( particularly the reception staff) to surprisingly rude ( some bar staff and some restaurant staff). On one morning, when we asked for more milk, the manager simply dropped a large pitcher on the table instead of providing a jug. Overall, this hotel has potential but feels tired and in need of significant improvement to meet modern standards.

Great location next the lake. Frosty receptionist who was not welcoming. Had to ask to change rooms as we were given a room with windows that were covered in film so you couldn't see outside. The windows wouldn't open and the room was warm . No air conditioning either. There was a generator outside the window which was very noisy. It was room 65. Had to pay an extra £20 per night to move to a better room which was much better but still not well ventilated. The food and restaurant service was very good but quite expensive. Inside and throughout the hotel there was lack of ventilation and air flow as no windows were allowed to be open. This was not good for covid and other infections. The hotel is a little antiquated with quite a few elderly people who frequent it regularly and know the staff well. It has an ild fashioned feel to it. Our second room was spacious, over looking fields at the side of the hotel but we were woken early by deliveries and staff leaving in the early hours on noisy motor bikes. There wasn't a lot to do immediately outside the hotel apart from a short walk, a train ride or a boat ride. The spa was not as expected, more of a swimming area with hot tub, sauna and steam room with no lounging area or outdoor sitting area, and dissappintingly not overlooking the lake. Grey robes were issued but no slippers, so you'd need to take your own flip flops. Enjoyed it to a point, the beds were comfortable but we wouldn't stay their again.

Amazing location and great view from our room. Reception staff are not very friendly. Food is average but very very slow. We waited over 40 minutes both nights for our main course and then one dish had to go back as still raw. Heather on front of house was excellent at trying to keep customers happy. Waited over 10 minutes to get a drink in the bar. The 2 young bar staff were not friendly or helpful. Rooms are spacious and great to have a swimming pool on site Spa changing rooms have no hair dryers as both broken and only 2 showers where the soap has run out

First time staying and what a wonderful environment to be in right from the moment you reach the main gate. The doormen are lovely and very welcoming, as are the reception staff. All very informative and aim to give you the best experience possible. The spa is divine, such a lovely place to relax and it feels levels above anything else I’ve experienced like that before. We had a meal in the cocktail lounge, and it was absolutely outstanding. The service was also second to none from the entire team. The gold star has to go to Ben (the Liverpudlian front of house team member in the cocktail lounge) as he is an absolute testament to the hotel and made our experience completely unforgettable from the moment he sat us down. Very informed, extremely personable and overall a very nice lad - made us feel so comfortable and welcome in a brand new place for us! If I could offer 6 stars I absolutely would. What a wonderful stay we’ve had at Lakes Hotel and Spa.

What a fantastic experience... We had a wonderful welcome from the gentleman in the gatehouse before we even got out of the car, we were then given a glass of prosecco and a tour from Lily on reception. The pool and spa facilities were excellent, particularly with the pool side bar which we made regular use of throughout our stay! The Mizumi restaurant was outstanding, as was the rest of the food and wide selection of drinks on offer. All staff were lovely and actually food and drink were reasonably priced.

Lakes Hotel & Spa - my small notes: the gorgeous views and wonderful people are what truly make a stay unforgettable. Add a little humour, a touch of luxury and some lakeside magic and you have the perfect escape. All made even more memorable by Patrick, the quick-witted keeper of lake wisdom and hotel rules. I'd love to return - a truly memorable escape, even in just one day...Maybe next time to find a cheeky little ring in the jacuzzi, ha ha Mizumi, Lakes Hotel & Spa - contemporary Asian cuisine, where timing is part of the carefully orchestrated dining experience. Arrive a little late, and you might be gently nudged along as other guests queue - probably high season at play, and all part of the charm 😉 The food is beautifully presented and your palete will be delighted by the precise, refined flavours. The waiting staff are amazing and generous, and compliments flow both ways ✨

This is a long overdue review. I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel in the Lakes region, but was forced to cancel our trip when my elderly mother was unexpectedly admitted to hospital just two days before our stay. Unfortunately, our cancellation fell just outside the policy window — something I completely understand given it was during the busy holiday season. What disappointed me most, however, was the hotel's refusal to show any understanding or flexibility under the circumstances. I wasn’t asking for a refund — only for a credit or the chance to rebook once my family situation stabilized. The manager, Justine Cutolo, flatly refused, hiding behind “policy” rather than exercising any human judgment or kindness. I fully appreciate that businesses have rules to follow, but hospitality should also be about empathy and human connection - especially when guests face genuine emergencies. Sadly that spirit was missing here. I would urge anyone considering a stay here to think twice — not just about the location or amenities, but about the values and compassion of the people running it. I certainly won’t be booking again.

Came here in sep,This was our 3rd vist as the other 2 in the beginning of the year were amazing, paid over £500 for 1 ngt for our wedding anniversary. All i can say is if this was the first time we would go back, reception staff were rude, room didn't provide enough towels robes etc, charged extra for the parking, yet because the car park was so full the could provided a space. We have to leave it in front of the laundry room. Room wasn't clean...just felt like a completely different experience so disappointing. I did email and complain i was told I would get a response within 10 working day but suprise ,suprise nothing. Definitely need to make some changes to be able to keep the stars and more importantly the repeat customers...yet I definitely wont be back

The hotel was lovely, the bathroom for 4 people was tiny you couldn't open the door fully to get in. No coat hooks in the apartment entrance to hang wet jackets. The double bedroom was beautifully furnished but not practical, there was nowhere to put a suitcase. The Spa was the biggest disappointment, you had to enter via the pub, the pool was tiny and very dark, only 2 loungers, you had to keep getting out the jacuzzi to turn it on. We paid for 2 treatment each and there was 4 of us, the treatment were good but the rooms were cold. The spa and pool is not big or relaxing enough for a spa break. We had 2 cars to park as coming from different parts of the country we were charged £72 for parking for 3 nights, in which we had to double park.

The most amazing few days. Hotel amazing! Spa lovely. The treatments are slightly overpriced for what they are but still nice and it gives off a luxury vibe. Free upgraded our room to a super lovely room with hot tub/ balcony. It was amazing. The one thing I would say about this hotel is a gym is necessary! Also we didn’t have a mini fridge in our room. Was disappointed to find out there wasn’t one. All in all a great couple of days retreat 🩷

Had our wedding here. It's beautiful. Views on the terrace are amazing. Food is delicious in their little on site pub. Cocktails are fabulous. Breakfast was great also. Spa is great too although a lot of chlorine actually made my eyes sting whenever I went in...

The North Lakes Hotel & Spa is a modern hotel with a relaxed atmosphere, featuring contemporary rooms, a casual restaurant, and an indoor pool. Its prime location provides easy access to Lake Ullswater and is just a short drive from Lake Windermere, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District. The hotel offers stylish and comfortable rooms with charming details, perfect for those seeking adventure or a peaceful retreat amidst the stunning hills and lakes.
From the ample parking, the warm greeting at reception, to the fresh water at reception, to the lovely lounge, to the clean, comfortable rooms (with the fan already on!) and handy fridge, to the modern bathroom, to the most delicious dinner with friendly staff, to a great night's sleep and a delicious breakfast, everything was perfect!! The hotel has a very calming, luxurious feel. The spa looked lovely but we didn’t have time to enjoy it! Already booking return trip!!

Booked in for a spa day with my partner. The spa itself was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The spa is split between hotel guests, gym members, and spa guests, so the environment wasn't very relaxing. The facilities were too busy so we had to wait for people to leave before using most of the equipment. There were also kids splashing around in the spa pool with floating toys (after we had gotten out luckily). There were barely any loungers and the ones there were covered in brown stains, so not very nice to sit on. The treatment was actually very good (a full body massage) and the upstairs relaxation environment was great too as you are away from all the non-spa guests. The treatment length was on the short side for my partner though, who finished 10 minutes before me despite the treatments supposedly being the same length. The service in the restaurant for the afternoon tea was very poor. We asked for peppermint tea and tap water, which only arrived when we were halfway through our food after around 15-20 minutes. They also brought bottled water instead of tap water then charged us seven pounds extra as we left. We just paid as we did drink the water but this is very poor practice. We had to wait a long time for the table to be cleared too. The food itself was nice, although they did seem to serve a marshmallow cake despite us specifying we are vegetarians. Overall it was a middling experience. The treatment itself was great but the rest of the experience was poor. We won't be going back as we have had much better experiences for the money.

What a lovely hotel! Found a last minute deal for dinner bed and breakfast and everything was top notch. Lovely staff, gorgeous food, super comfortable rooms. The leisure facilities weren't the most extensive but still lovely and relaxing. Fresh water and milk on each floor was great and all the little extras they had on offer were fab-would definitely stay here again! Thanks all for a lovely stay

Let down by the room. Booked a one night stay in a suite, the most expensive room available, to celebrate our engagement. Firstly the good points. The food was exceptional, beautifully cooked, the staff attentive and the dinner allowance as part of the dinner, bed & breakfast offer of £35 pp, covered the two courses each. Couldn't have fitted in a dessert as the portions were huge. Breakfast was also plentiful and of a nice quality. The spa was also great, plenty to keep you relaxed for a few hours. The additional extra touches in the room such as robes and slippers, luxury toiletries and coffee machine were also appreciated. Now for the negative. If only I'd read the reviews before booking I'd have not accepted room 119 as previous guests have pointed out, it's old, dirty, tired and lacking in maintenance. Given we paid for a top level room, I expected more. The first red flag was when the receptionist described it as a junior suite when in fact I'd booked a suite. The photos on the website in no way depict this room and could be classed as mis-selling. From the numerous stains on the carpet to splashes of who knows what on the walls, broken glass and shoddy paint repairs, it was very much not what we expected from a high end room. We saw open doors when walking to our room and saw much better fixtures and finishes in other rooms so were even more disappointed that we'd been given a room that should not be in the same category and instead classed as basic on a much cheaper rate. Another minor point is that there is no external reception signage so it's not obvious where you enter the hotel and appears as though you are entering a lounge. The communal areas, food and staff were great but I'd be very reluctant to return due to being allocated a very inferior room.

Customer service was a 10/10 beginning when we walked through the front door. The lady who checked us in was very welcoming and helpful. We are sorry that we did not get her name. She also checked us out. The safe was missing from our room but it later transpired that it was removed because it was not working. Your employee who removed the safe sought us out in the restaurant to apologise and to explain what happened. You do not get that 'ownership of responsibility' very often. Thank you to him. The fresh milk in the room was a very nice touch.

The elegant rooms offer a blend of historical charm and modern comfort, with impressive views and beautiful gardens. Guests can enjoy dining in the elegant dining rooms, where the first-class food is complemented by excellent service.
We had a four night stay in this lovely hotel. It's just undergone a considerable refurb and is fantastic. The pool is a good size for a splash around and wasn't busy while we were there. All the food was good, the staff were excellent and the location is great too. All in all a very nice hotel.

Myself and my husband’s stayed here to celebrate his 50th birthday. I booked the penthoused suite as a surprise and it was stunning! Exceeded all expectations. All members of staff went above and beyond for us from the moment we arrived. A special thanks to kamil and Melody in the bar who were exceptional. Everything was perfect! Food fantastic, room stunning and location was perfect for our first visit to the Lake District. We will be back for sure ❤️ Mrs & Mr Bartram - Room 311

Beautiful hotel, old building which has been done up to a really high standard but you still see the classy almost castle like feel of it. Staff were very friendly and kind. I really enjoyed the decor in the room and around the hotel, the spacious room and extremely comfortable bed. Only slight problem was the radiators filled with water at 6am and it woke us both up from the noise untill I had to get out of bed and turn off. Was quite upset about it receptionist seemed surprised so assume was unusual.

Lovely character hotel but lacks atmosphere We booked the half board basis and the food which stayed A la Carte was no were near up to standard. I did complain twice about the chicken it was so dry and rubbery, and I was just looked at ! Hence we took the breakfast off We also ordered a sandwich from the bar menu cheese and pickle it came Half a sandwich (2 small triangles) so one slice of bread and 5 crisps half a slice of cucumber and half of a cherry tomato with a bit of lettuce £10.95 They would have made this for less than £1 Would return to the Spa facilities Meg was a excellent massage therapist and the thermal spa experience was very relaxing But unfortunately would not stay in the hotel

I was pleasantly surprised by our stay here. We came for a funeral out of necessity and would come back here just to chill out. Wide corridors, high ceiling rooms, spectacular view (especially sunrise). However the thing that made the stay amazing was turning up midday afternoon knackered and getting good food with good service from genuinely nice people. Nice piano bar to sit in and a really, really good breakfast. I have stayed in a few 4 and 5 star places and weirdly I feel more comfortable here than anywhere. Only gripe is that the library needs a few more books in it.

After a 5-hour drive, this place was absolutely perfect! The rooms are gorgeous, modern, spotless and so comfortable while the outside maintains its beautiful Victorian charm. The restaurant and room service were amazing too. We were a bit sceptical at first since we’re picky eaters, but the fish and chips are definitely a must-try! The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, especially Jo-Anne she is amazing and her smile could truly light up a room.

I have given it 5 stars because even though it may not be the most super deluxe hotel in the world it excels so much that it deserves every star. I found it perfect. Most importantly staff are absolutely wonderful - even reception (usually a let down in a hotel) who were so helpful finding me a room appropriate for my needs. Evening food was consistently exceptional over 4 nights. It was like dining out in a superb restaurant. Really really good ingredients and perfectly cooked - despite there being a group of over 40 of us all choosing a variety of dishes. it was served efficiently and attentively by staff and was always piping hot. . Bar staff were great too. Everyone! For example an elderly man fell and they could not do enough for him. My room was large with a window overlooking the front towards the sea which I highly recommend. Some other rooms are smaller depending which type/class of room you buy. Some are a bit small and /or are dark overlooking trees at the back. So choose your room type carefully as to what matters to you. The spa is great with a jacuzzi, a sauna, a fairly small pool and a steam room (only takes 2 people!). Bed and pillows were very comfy. Room cleaned really well. Minor annoyance that there is no full length mirror . It is only a couple of minutes walk to station (lovely coastal line stopping at little villages so you can get off and walk around the beautiful countryside or go to the small towns) and to the charming little town with its cafes and interesting shops. I highly recommend this hotel. I will go back.

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel was much cleaner than average in the UK, though I had a lightly skin rash the first night, possibly from the starched sheets. The staff were kind and changed them promptly. For the meal, however, we waited nearly two hours for two soups, one greasy pizza (less tasty than the other mains), and a dessert that never arrived. We eventually paid and noticed we had been charged for the dessert, which we pointed out. Intriguingly, the waiter simply said they were too busy. A shame, especially as the bill came to about £50 and the other day we spent about £100.

The Swan Hotel & Spa is a luxurious 17th-century hotel located in the tranquil village of Newby Bridge, overlooking the scenic River Leven. Following a multi-million-pound renovation, the hotel now offers 82 elegant rooms including boutique doubles, loft suites, contemporary cottages, and dog-friendly accommodations. The newly added Holte Spa focuses on sustainability and ethical treatments inspired by the natural beauty of the Lake District.
We did the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package as well as booking into the spa. Our room was supposed to be a Splendid Garden View room but we were given a complimentary upgrade to a Splendid Suite. The room was lovely and had a free standing bath. The food was excellent and the service was great. We really enjoyed the spa. The only thing about the spa was that the bar closed for a short while and then the cafe/bar that you were sent to outside the spa didn't have a great range of drinks. Worth going if you get the chance.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. Location excellent and staff outstanding. Special thanks to a female staff member who worked in the restaurant. So sorry I didn’t get her name ( long hair tied up/ glasses). She was such a delight to speak to and her service was outstanding. A real asset to this hotel. Spa looked amazing although we had no time to use it. Will definitely return

We booked this hotel for a night away in the Lake District and after seeing some great reviews decided to book it. Upon arrival the parking was semi confusing as there were signs to say to pay and park but staff inside the venue quickly cleared that issue up for usa and sorted it out. We checked in with ease and went to the room which was beautiful, so clean, modern and spacious. We used the spa facilities which were such a treat and really enjoyed the thermo spa experience too. In the evening we sat by the river with drinks which was beautiful. Such a gorgeous view whilst enjoying a g and t - the bar had a wide range of spirits to choose from. The beds were really comfortable and spacious - haven't slept that well in so long. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options to choose from, I chose the Eggs Florentine which was perfect. The hotel is a short distance from Windermere which was ideal for a walk before we ventured home.

Stayed in room 359 for 2 nights. Lovely location and view of the river. Rooms are of a high standard but could do with a deep clean, carpets in communal areas showing signs of wear and tear. Used the thermal spa which was relaxing, clean and quiet. Breakfast service was very good. Big pots of tea and coffee and a plentiful supply of toast, cereals, fruit etc. ideal location to explore the lakes.

I came for a one night dinner, bed, breakfast and spa stay at the hotel with my husband. The room was lovely and the bed was comfortable. The deal we got included a bottle of prosecco which was chilled and waiting in our room. We enjoyed the spa and were lucky to have lovely weather. There wasn't many people in either. The staff at the spa were really friendly. The food was great and we both enjoyed our meals. We were brought a different wine with our meal to what we had ordered but the difference in price was refunded. The waiting staff were all lovely. Unfortunately our stay was let down by our breakfast experience. There was a great range of continental options which was all fresh and the cooked options were good too. The service at breakfast was very poor and we were made to feel like an inconvenience. We were offered hot drinks when we sat down. Someone came to take our order and noticed we hadn't had our coffee yet. He went to get it before taking our order but returned without it. Our hot food came out and I mentioned to the lady serving that we still had no coffee to which she replied 'I'm sure it's coming'. It wasn't. I asked again for the coffee and the young guy waiting on went to get it but by the time he brought it out we'd finished eating. There was no apology and he was very abrupt. We weren't the only ones to have a problem with the rude service and another guest actually left with her son before getting any food due to being ignored. It was a shame as we'd had a lovely stay and were let down by this as it just felt like the staff couldn't be bothered and you'd be met with an abrupt response if you dared to ask for anything.

The whole point of our stay was to celebrate a birthday. The evening started well: our waitress asked whose birthday it was, giving the impression something would be done (perhaps a candle in dessert). We ordered drinks and food, received our bottle of wine, but then waited ages for glasses. That’s where it began to go wrong. Starters were fine, nothing special. Mains followed: one ravioli, one sea bass. The sea bass was excellent, perfectly cooked. The ravioli was another story—we found a rock inside one. Impossible to get anyone’s attention, I had to go to the bar. The young lad there just pointed back at the waitress I’d been trying to flag for five minutes. Unhelpful. Eventually the waitress removed the plates and offered fresh dishes. When they arrived, the disappointment was greater. The ravioli was greasy and bland, with no salt available to adjust. The second sea bass was a disaster—oversalted to the point you could see the crystals. At £32 for a fillet and three potatoes, I expect to eat the fish skin too, not leave it because it’s inedible. Oddly, my first plate had mange-tout but the second had untrimmed green beans. While eating, we again struggled to get service. I had to go back to the bar and ask for the manager. The “manager” was a very young girl with no authority. I explained everything—no apology for the rock, no explanation, just “I’ll get these plates out of your way.” She never came back. The waitress then returned, defensive. She pointed out she’d checked on us 30 seconds after delivering the second mains, when I was still trimming beans myself. I replied, “It’s fine for now, I’ll let you know.” Her attitude was: well, you ate it. Of course we did—we were hungry and didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for replacements, especially given how hard it was to get anyone’s attention. She even claimed redoing the sea bass was a “goodwill gesture,” as though serving edible food is optional. To top it off, no dessert menus were offered; we had to shout to be noticed. The much-anticipated birthday dessert arrived with no candle or acknowledgement. We weren’t even offered more drinks, and when we finally ordered, it was wrong. The bill arrived, and shockingly we were overcharged three times for drinks. Staff couldn’t be bothered to bring a card machine—we had to go up to pay. Above our table, a spider’s web full of flies dangled, threatening to drop into the food. Utterly disgusting. The rooms were just as poor: stained carpets, bad lighting at the vanity, and thin duvets. Breakfast wasn’t better. We waited 20 minutes for tea and coffee, then were served burnt sausages and beans that tasted like they’d sat under a lamp all morning. By checkout we couldn’t wait to leave. The atmosphere was unwelcoming, the service careless and defensive, and the food overpriced and poorly executed. A customer should not have to get up twice to speak to staff. I can understand slow service if a place is busy, but this wasn’t that. It was neglect. When you’re charging these prices, standards should be far higher. Other restaurants nearby hold two Rosettes, charge less, and deliver food and service leagues ahead. We will not return and cannot recommend this hotel or restaurant.

Nestled on the eastern bank of Lake Windermere, Holbeck Ghyll is a charming Victorian country house offering refined rooms and suites with picturesque lake views. The property features a stately restaurant where guests can enjoy a grand dining experience surrounded by Arts and Crafts detailing. In addition to the main rooms, annex rooms, and cosy cottages, visitors can indulge in afternoon tea on the terrace or book a private hot tub for a relaxing retreat.
Beautiful rustic hotel, over looking lake Windermere. The hotel is beautiful, with gardens and lodges, and full of history. We stayed for 2 nights at the Miss Potter suite, which came with a hot-tub on the terrace which was absolutely amazing to relax in after a full day of walking! The sounds of local sheep/baby lambs and views of the nature were just pleasant to see and hear. The lodge has its own sofa area to relax in, which came with a coffee machine and fridge, again, over looking the lake with beautiful views of the sunset. The lodge was spacious and accommodated 2 adults and 2 children easily, and had its own car parking space. Lodges are spacious and clean. The manager was really attentive and welcoming. The breakfast was also good, ample choices on the menu from vegetarian option, to full English. All in all, great place to enjoy nature and admire the beautiful views of the Lake District in peace and quiet.

It is a very lovely hotel. It is up on a small hill and has a very good view of the landscape including the lake and a small farm. The cocktails are so nice, especially for Simon’s cocktail and Sarah’s special cocktail. The services are really nice as well. We enjoyed our trip here and stayed for three nights. The view is scenic and the food here is great. We only had breakfast but still it is very tasty and delicious.

We went to Holbeck Ghyll for the 5 course tasting menu; it was listed as £80 per-person on their website, then £85 on the menu at the restaurant, then £88 on the final bil (cheerfully adjusted down to £85 when queried). That lack of coherence probably encapsulates the overall experience of the dinner. On arrival we were directed to sit in the chilly bar area, but it wasn't explained why we weren't taken straight to our table. We were then asked if we wanted drinks, but without being shown a drinks menu. Meanwhile, an amuse bouche arrived without explanation of what they were. We were then taken to our table in the dining room. Strangely no wine list was offered, and the first course arrived. The rest of the courses followed pretty quickly, but the quality of the cooking was pretty variable. The duck ravioli was dry and overcooked, while the souffle was well made. Overall, for almost £200 for two, I felt it was a waste of money: the staff are doing their best, but there seemed to be no oversight and management of the overall dining experience, nor of the (unfortunately pretty empty) dining room. This place rather seems to be relying on past glofies, and the basics are being overlooked. I would go elsewhere for dinner next time.

My partner and I recently shared a wonderful wedding at Holbeck Ghyll and would recommend highly. From the start, we were welcomed very warmly by the fantastic team. We fell in love with the charm of the venue and character. Greg and Caleigh were extremely helpful as well as all staff who helped us at every stage of the process. The venue being exclusive use was fantastic. All guests had fantastic rooms on site. The wedding breakfast food was the best wedding breakfast many guests mentioned they had ever experienced. Many versatile rooms and outdoor spaces to utilise allowed great flexibility for wedding entertainment ideas. We were able to enjoy lawn games and dance a Ceilidh outside whilst the sunset with the most beautiful view of the lake and hills. Magical day!

The location is stunning and we were seated in a small dinning area with wonderful views over Windermere. The afternoon tea was beautiful presented and delicious! It was traditionally decorated in keeping with the building. The staff did not seem very friendly or welcoming, they did not return at all to check how our food was and we had to go and look for staff to ask for more tea.

Very well looked after by all the staff at the hotel. The room was good but a little tired. Fantastic views from the room. A very nice touch was a bottle of bubbles on arrival (they knew it was a birthday trip) Fantastic that you can take your dog with you, the main reason for selecting this hotel. The food was good. The location was great for what we wanted. We will definitely return. A few more dog poo bins are required around the gardens

Weekend stay - cream tea on arrival, prosecco on ice in room, dinner free on first night. Dinner was good. Great breakfast buffet style. Lovely views from dining room. Lovely grounds with view over bay. Lovely service. The spa is great value and my wife thoroughly enjoyed it.

My husband and I had three nights at the Netherwood recently and enjoyed some Spa time and a massage each too. Our whole stay was fabulous. The room was spacious and comfortable with lovely views over the coast. Spotlessly clean. The staff are all friendly and professional and really helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The Spa is lovely with robes and slippers provided. The massage was amazing! Evening meals in the hotel were fabulous! I highly recommend this hotel, it is our favourite place for a relaxing treat. All the facilities in Grange are no more than 10-15 minutes walk away.

My husband and I were married here in Aug 2025 and had the most magical time. We stayed in the turret rooms together with our baby girl and it is just so beautiful. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff who helped us organise our wedding and a massive thank you in particular to Rachael and Charlotte for all their help. The views from the hotel during our wedding were just gorgeous and the food and decor were of an excellent standard. Thoroughly recommend it as a wedding location!

Called into this beautiful hotel as we were walking past with our dog on the off-chance to get a coffee. We're made very welcome, coffe was delicious, and a really good price, sat on their stunning terrace and enjoyed the view. Definitely plan to go back and try their food and wine. What a Gem.

Booked a couples spa day WEEKS in advance only to be contacted late this afternoon about my booking tomorrow that they can no longer accommodate our original plans as a staff member is off sick. It would have meant separate massages instead of together. No point. Whilst I appreciate these things happen, it’s worth noting that if you cancel less than 48 hours before your visit, you are charged full price. It’s also worth noting that another reviewer on here said they wouldn’t honour a voucher from Xmas 2024 in August 2025 as it was over 6 months. Bit hypocritical perhaps? After a hefty row my partner was offered a measly 10% off, despite myself only being offered to transfer to another date or a full refund. Oh and it’s my birthday btw. So thanks for that. My birthday is often crap so this year I wanted to something nice and oh yeah. Hence 1 star.

Service was extremely slow. We were in a room over the kitchens, so bottles thrown at the end of the night and fans on early in the morning. Food was bland, and actually sent a dish back. Disappointing for where the hotel is situated. Could have been so much better than it was. Sent an email with my gripes and heard absolutely nothing. Terrible overall. Giving it a 3 for the view at the front of the hotel, well, what we saw of it anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nestled in the picturesque Lake District, Beech Hill Hotel & Spa is a historic property offering elegant accommodations and top-notch dining. The hotel's prime location near Lake Windermere provides stunning lake views from most rooms. Guests can indulge in a spa experience at the on-site facility, featuring an indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, and outdoor spa pools. For those seeking relaxation and pampering, some rooms boast spa baths and garden terraces.
Beech Hill Hotel & Spa exceeded our expectations. We travelled for a weekend break away from the stresses of home and absolutely loved our time here. When you arrive, the renovation work being done on the front makes the frontage not as aesthetically pleasing, however this is more than made up for once you enter. They are renovating, there is building work ongoing, however this did not affect our stay in the slightest and we found the hotel and spa to be beautiful, immaculate, well designed and clean. The staff were all wonderful, super helpful and really friendly. The spa is lovely, the view from the outdoor jacuzzis is stunning. The food was delicious, I had the salmon on the recommendation of one of the bar staff and it was delicious. Fresh, hot and beautifully cooked. They have reduced the prices to reflect the renovations and honestly we highly recommend taking the opportunity to stay there! Can’t rate this place highly enough, we will definitely be returning.

Amazing hotel! The rooms are incredible and everyone who works there can’t do enough for you. They were always so friendly and helpful. They were amazing! The location is perfect to explore the lakes and you also have access to down to the lake from the hotel. You can drive or get a taxi 10 min down the road to Bowness. The food was amazing with so much choice and good prices. Cannot wait to come back here!

Our stay here was fabulous from start to finish, we were greeted by Carl on reception who was so welcoming friendly and helpful! When we arrived to the room it was pristinely clean modern and comfortable and they had even gone the extra mile for my boyfriend’s special request of rose petals on the bed. Our room had everything we needed, towels, robes, hair dryer, ironing board etc. We made our way down to the spa to be greeted by Jessica who was also so lovely welcoming friendly and helpful! She couldn’t do enough for us we felt so pampered! The spa was also immaculate with amazing facilities. We went upstairs for our tea which was amazing, very high quality and cooked to perfection. There was plenty of tables to sit at with amazing views. Our service was quick. We came back down later in the evening to play monoply (which we had brought with us) with a few drinks which was lovely. We stayed down there until midnight and felt so accommodated for. Breakfast the next morning was also amazing, the waiting on staff were so helpful and quick with their service. We were only here for 1 night but it was an amazing 24 hour experience! This was our first time staying here and we are hoping to come back soon! Emma and Jack

What a stunning hotel!! I loved every minute of being here. Gorgeous views of the lake. Room was immaculate and comfy. Huge tv and patio with lake view. We even had a jacuzzi bath In our bathroom!!! The spa is just lovely!! Hot tubs with a view, lovely friendly staff and my massage was brilliant. The breakfast is also top notch! My only complaint would be the tea and coffee at breakfast was Luke warm but apart from that it is an extremely good hotel. They are making improvements now too so I imagine soon it will be even better!! We will definitely be back.

Booked a Rejuvenating Spa Day for two (wasn't staying in the hotel). Spa facilities were excellent. Hour long Hot Stone massage with Jessica was wonderful. Afternoon Tea on the terrace was delicious. A lovely freshly prepared selection of savoury and sweet food. We also ate a tasty lunch in the bar too. All staff in the Spa and Bar area were friendly and helpful. Work is underway to extend the Spa facilities which will further improve the experience and we will definitely return when it's completed.

Currently at this hotel, our room is lovely with a fantastic view of the lake. We have used the spa facilities today which are great, we also had a massage from Megan which has been the best part of our stay. I have had many massages over the years and Megan was by far, the best. Not only was she friendly and welcome but her skills as a masseuse are amazing and i came out of there feeling fantastic. Highly recommend booking a massage in with Megan.

The Waterfall Spa provides a trendy and relaxing atmosphere with luxurious treatments, creating an ideal setting for pampering. Overlooking the bustling village of Ambleside, this historic four-star hotel is just steps away from shops and cafes while still offering a tranquil getaway.
We have been to Ambleside salutation numerous times and will keep coming. Great location and lovely hotel. We had a complementary room upgrade to the stargazing suite and it was wow. Staff are very friendly and breakfast is amazing. Spa also very relaxing. We love it here. Only thing I would say to save disappointment, is book spa treatments online in advance as they can be fully booked if you leave it till your stay.

Absolutely fantastic experience at this hotel. The staff are amazing and very friendly. We stayed in one of the Loft suites and it was lovely. The breakfast choice is amazing, and the pool and spa facilities are great if you fancy a nice relaxing few hours. The location is perfect, it is right in the centre of Ambleside and close to all the shops and restaurants. If you like walking in the hills there are some lovely little walks nearby. Louchrigg fell and Helm Crag being two nice easy Wainwright's to climb with amazing views.

This hotel has a great location, a high level of service, and comfort. we would definitely stay here again, special mention to Ryan in the restaurant who never stopped running around after guests. One slight problem is parking. You need to ring and reserve a space if you have a disabled badge.

The rooms are expensive but decided to book for a special birthday. Did not disappoint. Receptionist gave us a free room upgrade which was really appreciated. The room and view where outstanding. Bed a little hard. Pool, outdoor fountain spa jacuzzi and breakfast were amazing. Felt spoilt and very relaxed. All staff friendly and polite. Service excellent. Would love to go back.

Friendliest staff of any hotel we’ve stayed in. The rooms are spotless as is the rest of the hotel. The breakfast is amazing and can’t be beaten anywhere else in the lakes! The pool and spa areas and gym are well equipped and spotless. A home from home!

Staying here at the weekend. Spa offered a deal when staying. When contacted they have refused the deal and offered full price treatments in place. False advertising and very poor service. Similar theme with other 1 star reviews of the spa being poor. Will update after stay.
David B — Google review
Our first visit here but hopefully not the last. Location is fantastic to just park up and explore, we are very much in the group of people who are in the lakes to relax and we think that hills should be looked at and not walked up so a nice hotel with a spa and good location is what we're after. Lots of parking, ev chargers take some working out and are 70p per kwh which is more than I'm prepared to pay but someone was using one of the chargers so they do work. Reception was warm and welcoming with lots of information, and guidance. Lift was great being as we were on the 2nd floor. Room was very clean and nice although it was rather warm all the time, no ac in our room but we made use of the fan and window. The view over the hills was great. Nice to have a decent size fridge in the room. Breakfast was absolutely great, lots of choice, all fresh and really tasty and I'd recommend saving space for lots of breakfast! Unfortunately the same can't be said of the evening meal. We had some vouchers so the meal cost me about £30 all in but had we been paying full price (over £67) I don't think I'd have been so OK about it. We both ordered the pie and mash which we had been told was chicken, ham and leak pie. Food arrived very fast which was good but we discovered the pies were steak, not too bothered because we fancied steak pie anyway but the mash was smash and grav6was just bistro, at £21 I'd expect a bit better quality. I did look around and other people's food looked better, just a bit of a shame we picked something which needed a bit of love. All in all I was happy with our stay and I would stay again just not sure I'd have dinner in the hotel.

Lovely hotel and great staff, especially those serving breakfast. Shoutout to Manuel who brightened up our day. The only criticism i have is the one night manager )I didnt catch his name) who came on a little too strong when he thought we were parking at the hotel without staying as guests. I understand these things need to be addressed, however our car reg was on file, checking this wouldve been a more appropriate course of action rather than accost us on the way to our room.

Guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast, as well as access to an indoor pool and gym facilities. The hotel's lounge and bar are welcoming to dogs, making it an ideal choice for pet owners.
Great hotel stayed in the Ullswater room. Kids had a great time, staff were absolutely amazing all very helpful. The breakfast was consistently nice every morning. The views from the room were great my only complaint if any was that the double bed felt a bit dated and when rolling over you could hear and feel all the springs pop so wasn't the most comfortable night sleep I've had but certainly wasn't the worst. I would still recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be booking again.

Valentines weekend treat, WOW we enjoyed everything from the minute we arrived until leaving. Sharing Platter was Amazing on the Sunday. The following nights meal was also delicious. A lady called Margaret was extremely professional, kind really made us feel welcome. All the stag were great. Our only disappointment was the window in our room didn’t open & the en suit fan. But i’m sure they will correct this. The pool was ok, Hot Tub didn’t work properly & the sauna was cold over all leisure facilities outdated. Hopefully we will return. Thank you to all.

I never wrote a review before but the manger of the swimming here is most unprofessional and rude I have ever come across is in my life We was booked in for a hour and the manger came in pointing at her watch at 15 minutes before the hour was up I have been here before lots of times with no problem very relaxed. The manger came in telling everyone out 10 minutes before the hour I questioned this she was very rude She said everyone has to be out of here dressed before your hour was up which makes no sence. every swimming pool I have been too you get a full hour . She was standing outside the changing rooms waiting for us with arms folded and our time not even up She even was raising her voice when I questioned her attitude

Today, my family spent a few hours at the Embleton Spa hotel, as a celebration of my own (significant) birthday. An hour in the spa-pool was the perfect way to work up an appetite, for the best meal, that I have enjoyed, in a very long time. Our table in the front dining area (with fabulous views all around), could not have been a better location for such an event. Our meal was wonderful and could not have been improved. The food was prepared and cooked to perfection and. Was enjoyed by us all. The staff are very friendly and very attentive, who did a marvellous job of keeping us all happy throughout. It is no hardship to post a very positive review of our of our visit and express our thanks to all the staff at Embleton Spa and hotel.

Lodore Falls is a stunning waterfall located near Derwentwater in the Lake District. The falls cascade over huge rocks and can be reached by a short path through a wooded valley, offering beautiful views of the surrounding nature. Lodore Falls is part of the Lodore Falls Hotel, which features a luxurious spa with thermal suites, outdoor hydrotherapy pool, and glazed sauna overlooking Derwentwater. Visitors can also enjoy various spa treatments and leisure activities such as swimming in indoor or outdoor pools.
Spent a week in the Lake district with my disabled husband and honestly, this was by far the easiest falls to find and access! Its clearly signposted from the hotel (mainly because they don't want you cutting through!) but definitely easy to find and no doubt a beautiful spot for a picnic! Sadly it rained the week for us so the stones can be a bit slippery but we made it!
Lisa D — Google review
Impressive falls in a rocky gorge. No signposts at all but falls behind hotel of same name but no access through hotel. Access via a path by side of hotel and as you get nearer, you’ll be able to hear the waterfall.
Mayflip — Google review
Quite tricky to find, I'm really surprised there's no signage at the end of the path where you exit from the jetty. Considering there's the falls, hidden view and the Chinese bridge I would have expected some directions. Access to the falls is through a path in the woods, so access for wheelchair or less mobile visitors is not possible. The false themselves are a good size and definitely worth a visit though.

I have posted this to help people get to the waterfall. It's not easy and it'll take you about 20-30 minutes but trust me it'll be worth it. Best time to go is after heavy rainfall. Start at the Car Park: Once you’ve parked, head past the car park and turn right. Look for the Gate: You’ll see a gate on your right (refer to pic 1). Follow the Path: Continue along the path (see pic 2). You’ll need to navigate over a small fallen tree, but keep going. Cross the Stream: Eventually, you’ll come to a fork in the stream (see pic 3). Cross it carefully. Follow the Boundary Wall: After crossing the stream, you’ll find yourself against the boundary perimeter wall of the hotel. Keep following this wall. Pass the Tree Stump: You’ll pass a tree stump shaped like a chair. Shortly after, you’ll see a gate that provides access to the hotel. Take a Left: At this gate, take a left (see pic 4). Follow the Sound: From here, just follow the sound of the waterfall and enjoy the serene beauty of Lodore Falls!

A lovely waterfall a short walk through the woods off the main road. I went after a morning of heavy rain and the falls were very full and gorgeous. The walk was also nice. I got there via the bus from Keswick and got a bit turned around from the map which said to go through the spa but that's private. To get to the falls from the spa/bus stop, go back along the road across the bridge (no footpath) until you reach the edge of the trees near a gate. There's a sign post, take the unmarked route up through the trees and you'll soon hear the falls. Video attached. A nice short trip, easy to reach from Keswick.

Also had a tea for 2, then headed off to the pool , steam room, and sauna after a few hours there we headed off for our full body massage OMG I could have fell asleep it was on another level. I had an amazing massage at Mayela's business. I knew almost immediately how high her quality was when she instantly found the knots and started working on them. Anyone who has had a lot of massages before can instantly tell the difference between a 'spa massage' versus a true massage therapist massage. Mayela is the real deal. Her studio has a good ambience as well, and the safety and sanitation in the current environment is taken seriously. Highly recommend!

One of the smallest spas I've been to. Went during a center parcs break so had the twilight package for about £70 and I don't think it was worth it. One of the rooms was out of order, fair enough, as sometimes things break. The hydro pool, the keys didn't seem to work well and the temperature of the water could of been warmer. The outdoor pool was nice, but due to the noise that came from the hydro pool as it was open, people in the pool where talking quite loudly in order to be heard. The experiance I paid for allowed 3 hours access and I was out after about an hour and half. It was very clean and tidy though
Emma D — Google review
Generally good but I rang the contact centre to ask if the spa was all on one level as one of our party used a walker. I was told it was one level but not that it was a walk from the car park and we could have booked a mini bus to get us to and from the car park. It was raining and it took us over half an hour to get to the spa Better commination between contact centre and spa is needed. However a good day apart from this

Went for the day and will for sure be back. From the get go these guys are great. Staff were very clear and helpful. Great facilities and for a great price. I especially appreciated how accommodating they were with my wife being pregnant. Pregnancy friendly treatments were clearly labeled and we had such a great time. Look forward to coming back and for longer as we only went for the day. It’s worth noting that we traveled 3 hours there and the same back home and found it totally worth it.

Not worth the money. It's a really small spa, nothing special about it. Also they were showing people around inside the spa who has their shoes on? Isn't it meant to be a clean area!? The outside pool was nice and warm. We were meant to be there 12.30-8pm however we left at 6pm, got bored. Also the "dinner" included in the package was a joke you can't call a single panini dinner. The menu is also very limited. There's many spas with better facilities and a proper lunch or dinner, go somewhere else.

We had a lovely experience at Aqua Sana for a pre Christmas treat Such a beautiful spa with so many different experiences to encounter. We hadn't realised that we could not drive straight up to the spa and it was a 10 minute walk from the main carpark, but it was lit, well signposted and through a lovely woodland path. The lunch we had at part of our experience was absolutely beautiful. I ended the day with an all over body massage which left me so relaxed and ready for the Christmas festivities We surely with be returning to the spa in the future

Myself and my wife always make sure we visit the aqua sana spa at whinfell when we visit. I dont understand how a negative review is possible. We have visited many spas in the past and always say this is the best spa we have ever been to. I am writing today to give a special mention to Abbie who was on reception on Saturday. We had a few issues before visiting the spa and i feel when we got there abbies customer service skills really shone through. She went above and beyond to help us and i hope she gets this. Thank you aqua sana for yet another great visit, great treatments and the little prossecos were lovely too. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Fantastic guest house! Hayley and all the staff were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was very high quality and delicious! The location was brilliant for walking into the centre of Ambleside for bars & restaurants and for accessing walking trails. Plenty of parking on-site and there is a fast charger next door but 1 in the public car park for anyone with an electric car. 100% would recommend and will visit again! Thanks again Emily & Adam x

Just stayed a few nights here with Mrs P in room 3 (1st floor). Location is close to the town centre but far enough away so as not to get any noise. Lovely views all round & ample parking for all guests. Beautifully presented, clean, tidy & definitely in a 'boutique style'. Rooms are comfortable & spacious & well appointed (bathrooms are a dream). Staff are extremely helpful without being fussy & if there is anything they can help you with they will & quickly. The breakfasts are extremely tasty & the 'Cumbrian cooked breakfast is al a carte so you can pick & choose your meal. Plenty of cereals & fresh fruit salad if you prefer. As others have mentioned there isn't a lift & the property boasts 3 floors. Rooms start on the first floor. Our stay was extremely pleasant & without doubt great value. Thank-you to all the staff for a great stay. Highly recommended.

Fabulous hotel, great location. Parking on site a big plus, 5 mins walk into Ambleside and 10 mins other way to pier for boat to Windermere. Comfortable rooms, well equipped, generous size bathroom and big fluffy towels, plenty of drying space. Superb choice and quality of food for breakfast, full English, smoked salmon, choice on eggs, cereal, fruit, yoghurt with minimal waste as good is chosen night before, a very good idea and means everything freshly cooked and organised well. One of the better “smaller” hotels I’ve stayed in and would certainly return in the future.

We stayed two nights at this hotel, wow its amazing, easy access to everything, we were riding on motorbike and parking was great, breakfast was included in the price and no parking fee???? Amazing! We could easily walk into town, take the bus to windermere and the walk to lake at ambleside is 10 minutes. Cannot wait to book a week stay here again! We are coming back, the room was brilliant, we stayed in number 9 and had loft window which i could keep an eye on my bike but Ambleside is very safe so no issues there, room was in a very highstandard, great bed and bathroom was lovely, breakfast was delicious, my wife absolutely loved it. Thank you for such great stay and thank you for keeping our luggage on site whilst we were exploring after checking out.

Great location with its own oarking but no more than a couple of mins walk from the centre. And set back from the road so no noise. Our room was super clean, really spacious, large comfy bed and stylish bathroom with lovely walk in shower to freshen up. The whole hotel has been recently renovated so feels very fresh. Really warm welcome with a personal touch. And the breakfasts were a super hit. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent! Friendly welcoming staff. Clean, spacious room, well appointed, perfect breakfast. Wide parking slots with plenty of room either side of our VW Transporter van. Short walk into town. No dogs or children a bonus.

Whinfell Forest is a small, ancient forest that houses a large holiday village and a red squirrel reserve. Visitors rave about the variety of activities available, from biking with baby trailers to enjoying the great swimming facilities. The Lakeside Inn offers good food, although it can be pricey. Some suggest that the pub area in the main complex could use an update.
Been to Whinfell about 25 times since my 16 year old was 2. Love everything about the place. People say it's expensive and it is if you compare it to other holidays but if you have been you don't mind paying. Swimming pool is amazing restaurants are great lodges from bottom of range to a tree house are still all in the same forest so wherever you stay you still get same experience. And even if I had the money for a treehouse I go to center parcs to spend times outdoors the lodge is for sleeping. If your eating out alcohol is very expensive at 7.50 a pint but center parcs isn't a place where you go to have a good drink a couple with tea is enough. Then you can take your own with you along with all your food if you want to eat in. You can make it whatever you want plenty to do without spending anything swimming and parks for kids are free.
Michael G — Google review
Great for peaceful long weekends or midweek break, once in your lodge no cars to worry about, can be a little pricey but if you're prepared to pay for it, it's a good break

We had a really great break at Center Parcs Whinfell Forest. Stayed in a studio apartment which was great. Good food, great pool complex, lots of EV charging! Really good overall.

Very expensive holiday but so worth it!! Kids had a blast. Bike hire for kids a must, I never saw our two as constantly out exploring. Freedom!!! Thats what I said. Italian restaurant really nice, Sports cafe and bit overpriced for food but decent and the staff are really friendly there. The Pancake place was a treat, choose from Waffles, Pancakes or you can go Savoury with an Omelette. Really nice! Starbucks is also on site so you can chill with a Coffee. Overall 9/10.

First time visiting and already booked back for next year with the rebooking discount. Best holiday, first we had as a new family. We went in May, weather was lovely, and there’s so much to do. We got the burly baby bike trailer our 1 year old daughter loved it and we both got bikes. The swimming is great and we will definitely be ordering the bbqs again when we revisit. The lakeside inn is good we just walked in without booking, meals were expensive but the food is good. There are plenty of things for kids but our daughter was a bit young for most of them, next year though she will be able to get into more of the activities. Nice play park in the village center. Lots of animals to spot we seen a deer and lots of squirrels and ducks. House was great stayed in Three Oaks near to car park thought it was a good area and not too far from everything whilst also being out the way. Great place for a family holiday can’t recommend it enough and we are looking forward to come back next year.

Superb as usual! Great holiday relaxing with the family. Lovely weather end of August this year. The only slight downside I can say is the pub area in the main complex needs a spruce up looks a bit dated. Pool areas nice clean tidy shower area well maintained. Never had a bad meal in any of the places we ate. Thanks for another great holiday CP

Have gone to Center Parcs here for the last few years. Safe place for the kids to enjoy, multiple activities, restaurants are lovely although doesn't matter which one you go to, a meal for 4 (2 adults 2 kids)is always around £100. Accommodation also nice

The Falls Spa offers a perfect opportunity to relax and unwind, especially on a rainy day or after an active holiday. The spa features various sauna and steam room experiences, as well as an outdoor heated infinity pool with stunning views of Derwent. Visitors can enjoy a variety of drinks at the champagne bar while being attended to by friendly staff. Although some maintenance attention is needed, the beautifully updated hotel and its amenities provide a superb experience for guests.
We could not have had a more perfect spa experience at the falls spa. Beautiful day, views, gorgeous complementary tray bake and smoothie and I can’t thank Naomi enough for my pregnancy massage - she was kind, gentle and so thoughtful and you could tell she really wanted me to have the best experience. Can recommend enough!
Hattie H — Google review
Beautiful location, me and my daughter visited here for the 1st time. We were bothered by the weather forecast which showed heavy rain and gales. The outside pool was really warm so it did not matter that it was raining. It was enjoyable. Pool was smaller than I thought it would be, not much room for a swim if there were a lot of people in there. There weren't many loungers inside and we never got to sit on them. Not sure if they limit how many people go in at once, but I can imagine it getting overcrowded otherwise. My back and foot massage was amazing, the best I have ever had although we were 5 mins late being taken in and we got 45 mins instead of the 50 we paid for. Didn't like the receptionist she didn't seem friendly at all. She knew it was our 1st time visiting, nobody in the changing rooms knew how to use the lockers as she hadn't explained to anyone and she needs to watch her facial expressions when talking to people. Found her a bit off. Rest of the staff were lovely and so friendly
Leigh E — Google review
This was such a fabulous spa experience! I can’t recommend it enough if you’re visiting the Lake District! From start to finish, the service was exceptional; the staff were so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely made us feel cared for. The entire atmosphere was calm and beautifully maintained, creating the perfect space to unwind and recharge. The facilities were spotless and thoughtfully designed, but the pool was definitely the highlight! peaceful, warm, and absolutely stunning. It was the perfect way to relax after a long day. We left feeling completely refreshed and can’t wait to return on our next trip.

Love spa with stunning views across the lake. We did the sunday package which is great value, unfortunately due to trains we were running a bit late, but the restaurant kindly accommodated us with a 30 mins later table to eat and we just had 2 courses rather than the full three, all food lovely and good portions we did not need a starter. We got to the spa 15 mins late but as we called ahead they let us know we could either swap to a later session or just have a bit less time which we opted for. All areas of the spa are immaculate, so many saunas, showers and even Elemis products to sample! The pool has a stunning look over the scenery and great for a photo. The spa was not overcrowded, they only let as many people book as they can accommodate which makes it so much more relaxing vs some spas I’ve been where they are too busy. The package also included a soft drink or glass of Prosecco which was nice too. I will hopefully return and book a treatment the next time as all staff I spoke to were lovely too.
Alexx — Google review
Absolutely stunning spa, lots of different saunas and steam rooms. We did the twilight spa, wasn't too busy but do need to book as it was fully booked! Free drink on arrival and beautiful setting!
Hayley T — Google review
When visiting the lakes we booked a spa morning experience two hours. The spa is amazing well laid out and the out side pool is fantastic. Our only grip is the smell coming from the drains in laconium room. Also the complex is only 5 years old and it’s already looking worn. In the lounge the paper is coming off the wall in the window. It all needs some love in looking after it on a maintenance attention. But this did not spoil the experience we did have a lovely time. The staff are very helpful and can’t do enough for you. The complimentary drink was lovely but if you do the 8-10 get you drink b4 940am as they stop serving at 950am Would we go back YES we would.

I had the best massage and facial today, it was so relaxing, a very professional therapist, Maria Lola made me feel welcome and comfortable and I highly recommend her treatments, I have booked to return in March! Thank you for a lovely treatment.

Love the facilities and quiet room, but the staff turn over is massive so the quality of treatments also varies massively. Staff throughout the building seem to lack knowledge of products and services which can only be down to lack of training. Why the massive staff turnover? Something’s not right here. Started coming here many years ago when coffee and fruit used to be supplied. The standards have dropped so much.We once had afternoon tea and the scones were like stones, they were so dry!
Patricia W — Google review
Had spa day at this place the pool and facilities was really good but the treatment was very poor your ment to feel better after massage and I didn't feel no benefits wots so ever so for people who are likely to book for treatment I would think twice and when you pay for the robe and towel and flipflops all you get for the £10 is some horrible rubbing flops so it's just all a joke tbf
Ste — Google review
Poor state really.. old changing room. Not even a hand cream available. Average pools but nice saunas.. but definitely not worth the money, unless you have treatments as those were great.
Adriana K — Google review
I bought my friend and myself a pure pamper spa day for 2 as a birthday treat and we went to Carlisle to enjoy the experience. To be honest it was disappointing as well as a bit ‘cheap ‘ to be asked for a £20 deposit each for a towel and a robe …of which only £10 ( each ) would have been returned. We declined ( in fairness this was in the small print …but why cheapen the pamper nature of a spa day in this way ?) The spa and treatments themselves were lovely - it’s the ‘experience’ that surrounds them that is a bit average at best. No one offered to show us around - we were pointed to where to go. Food was fine but last orders for anything hot was 3 pm. Changing areas around the pool area need an uplift / redecoration. Management - you are doing the spa a disservice by cheapening the experience for not a lot of gain ( towels and robe) . What a shame.
Carolyn H — Google review
Excellent experience. Before our spa day I rang to query about accesability due to me being a wheelchair user. Layla rang me twice to talk me through our day. We were met by Layla on arrival she made sure I was sat safely beside the pool. Thank you Layla you're a credit to the company you went above and beyond. The spa treatments were lovely as were Abi & Lola. Would definitely recommend. Annette & Michael x massage

Run down and shabby. The poorly lit carpark is full of pot holes and the tarmac is really uneven in places, accident waiting to happen - the staff save the place, the are outstanding. The time table has a great range of classes and the instructors are amazing.
Eva D — Google review
We visited Carlisle Bannatyne Health Club visited for a "Spa Day" booked through Red Letter Days on 31.8.2022. It was my first Spa day experience and a gift from family for our wedding anniversary. Regrettably the experience was very disappointing. We spent the first hour attempting to relax in the jacuzzi whilst in the company of an entire aqua water aerobics class complete with boom box. We attempted to retreat to the Steam Room. One was clearly out of order so I went into the other which had its lights on. But there was no steam.... We reported this to reception several times throughout the day, first being told that it was being cleaned, despite the fact that this was outside the designated time for cleaning. Despite returning on several occasions and reporting this, the steam room remained out of order all day. What salvaged the day from being a total disaster was the treatments which we enjoyed in the afternoon although these did start 5 minutes late and end 5 minutes early so the positive experience was cut short. Afterwards, we went for a coffee but the coffee machine was out of order. So in the end we cut our losses and left early extremely disappointed at the overall experience. After later reporting matters to the general manager we were informed that they did have maintenance issues with both the steam room and coffee machine. Why were staff not aware of these issues so they could properly communicate them to guests? Whilst we were offered complimentary day passes to use the pool facilities and gym, we were informed that whilst the steam rooms are working currently there was no guarantees they would be when we arrived...... So it sounds like they have maintenance problems quite frequently. We felt they should have been willing to offer a partial refund or at least some sort of discount on treatments but this was not forthcoming and the offer was declined. Overall a disappointing experience with disappointing aftercare.

This polished hotel features stylish rooms and exclusive access to the serene Jetty Spa, where you can unwind amidst 100 acres of private grounds. With only six suites available, it ensures an intimate atmosphere for up to 12 guests.
We went here for afternoon tea after our wedding and had a great experience, beautiful scenery and a very quiet and private environment. We also had a vegan guest and a guest with an allergy and they were beautifully catered for. The vegan option was particularly impressive as it was a full separate afternoon tea with as much variety as the other ones.

Hazel saved my holiday! I was struggling with a flare up a couple of days into our break in Windermere. I was ready to head home early when Mountain Massage were able to fit me in at a day’s notice. The clinic is lovely and bright and welcoming - conveniently in the centre of Bowness. Hazel used her skills and knowledge as both a remedial massage therapist and Myofascial release therapist to ease my pain and tension almost instantly and I left feeling 200% better than when I walked in the door. Would not hesitate to recommend Hazel and will certainly be booking into Mountain Massage again ahead of my next trip to the Lake District.

Whilst Caravanning at the Bowness camp site I decided to call and enquire about availability for a massage. Luckily I got a appointment for the following day. I am 65 and have never experienced a professional massage before so I was a bit anxious prior to going. In the end the worrying was for nothing. James and Claire made me feel comfortable and Claire did a fantastic job in relieving the tension I had in my head, neck, shoulders, back and legs. Thanks again Claire and James. I will be in touch prior to my next visit to the Lakes.

Hazel fit me in for an emergency appointment when I hurt my back on holiday and was struggling to walk and stand up from sitting or lying. She was amazing! I would never have thought I could be this much better in just 24 hours! I would highly recommend Hazel. Thank you so much.
