Brasserie
Located in the heart of Reading, London Street Brasserie is housed in an 18th-century tollhouse by the River Kennet. This charming brasserie offers a modern menu and a delightful outdoor area with scenic river views. Despite its upscale reputation, the restaurant provides a relaxed dining experience, complete with blankets for chilly evenings. The establishment has gained recognition from Michelin for its British and French cuisine served within a Grade 1 listed building.
What an absolute delight. The food was spectacular in every way. As a party of six, we managed to try a variety of dishes and every one was wonderfully presented, well portioned and had obviously been cooked and prepared with a great deal of care. I went for the belly pork which was so good, it's managed to get up there into my top 5 of all time. Our server was very attentive, friendly and well informed. Our party included someone with a nut allergy and this was very well catered for too. This place had the intimacy of a small restaurant but it's layout provided plenty of tables. You will need to book as this is a very popular place to eat. Highly recommend.

I had a lunch in this lovely brasserie serving British cuisine with Mediterranean influences. The octopus was grilled perfectly, absolutely delicious! My fish and chips cod was also delicious, not too heavy. My girlfriend had a fish cake and a veggie Sunday Roast, which she enjoyed. Quite big portions, that's why we didn't order dessert. Service was friendly and attentive. One of the best restaurants in Reading! Well done team!

Had the most delicious lunch yesterday. We were taken here by some friends who live locally and what a treat it was. We sat outside at the edge of the canal and enjoyed the most fabulous meal, along with the sunshine! I can honestly say I can’t remember when I last enjoyed a meal like this. The menu is extensive and it was difficult to make a choice, but between the four of us, all our dishes looked and tasted amazing! Well done to all concerned, especially Chef! It was great!
Diana D — Google review
a good place to dine, food is great, nice staff and nice service. The portions vary for different dishes. The liver dish was good, but the fish and the oxtail stew were to the small end, but all was delicious. The toilet was clean and fresh. The issue of a fly 🪰 joining us and a huge mosquito 🦟 too was ruining the atmosphere. While I was entering the place, I saw a plate of ice cream in front of a customer, he looked joyous and plate looked delicious
Riad G — Google review
We experienced a train delay before our outing and had to request a last-minute time shift — the team at London Street Brasserie handled it smoothly and moved our arrival time without any fuss. The atmosphere was stylish yet cosy, with bright windows and lovely views over the river. We were warmly welcomed, and our drinks and food were served in perfect timing throughout the meal. I chose the Smoked haddock kedgeree (Indian-spiced basmati rice with scallion, peas & poached bantam egg) as my starter, and then the Jacob’s ladder short rib beef slow braised in Chianti, with lardons, button onions, mushrooms & rosemary-parmesan polenta for my main. Both were beautifully presented and full of flavour, though the beef dish felt a little rich for my taste. The staff were friendly and welcoming, though it would have been nice to be checked on during the meal rather than only at the end when we paid. Still, overall our experience was positive. We weren’t rushed, we had space to relax, and we really enjoyed our outing in such a beautiful setting. I’d happily recommend London Street Brasserie for a lovely meal in Reading.

Have been here tonight for dinner. Food was absolutely lovely, great quality. All the staff is excellent, caring and very professional. The food is very well prepared and it's a pleasure for eyes and taste! Highly recommend. Will be back asap

My now wife and I chose LSB to celebrate our wedding reception and we could not have been happier! Jason and the team made sure our special day went flawlessly and truly was the most beautiful day of our lives! The service was 12/10! The food was 12/10! The attention to detail was incredible. They knew the seating plan and which guest had which dish, they accommodated our request for gaps in between courses and they just genuinely provided the most incredible experience anybody could wish! The venue is beautiful and honestly I can’t recommend them enough! I would give 6stars if I could. We will definitely be coming back!

Coconut Bar & Kitchen is a vibrant hotspot located in St. Mary's Butts, offering a bustling atmosphere and serious cocktails paired with delicious Pan-Asian cuisine. The industrial chic setting provides the perfect backdrop for indulging in Asian delights such as Japanese katsu curry, Thai chicken wings, and okra tempura while sipping on classic, fruity, creamy, or Champagne-infused cocktails.
My favourite place to eat in Reading and amazing mock and cocktails 🍹 the presentation is always on point! Customer service and professionalism!.. I highly recommend! Thank you for also bringing so much rich culture too - my other favourite thing about Coconut bar & kitchen! inclusion and diversity 👌🏾 I always have a wonderful time when I’m here! Hanna was my server yesterday- thank you Hanna 🤗 Thank you to all the team and staff ✨

Visited with 2 colleagues for after work drinks and a bite on a Tuesday night. No reservation but they seated us immediately. Very attentive staff and food served pretty quickly, which is great. The food was ok but didn’t have soya sauce or chilli flakes on the table which I thought was a given for a Thai restaurant. We liked the atmosphere and it was reasonably priced. If you want a quick bite in the middle of the week then go for it. I think some of the 5 star ratings are from those who haven’t been out much.

Been coming for years, always incredible service and amazing food and cocktails! The whole team make you feel special on every visit! The Szechuan Duck is amazing and white chocolate martinis are very drinkable and moreish!

This place is awesome! The vibes are beautiful, the staff's nice, and Safalta was super helpful with the vegetarian dishes. The food is really good, and the cocktails are really nice. Gotta try the Pattaya picante!
Nidhi G — Google review
The Thai food here is nice, though fairly basic it covers the classics without many surprises. Where the place really shines is the drinks: both the cocktails and mocktails are well-crafted and flavorful. A good spot if you're looking for a casual meal with some great beverages.

Went for Sunday lunch, wow!!! What amazing food and delicious cocktails for a Sunday lunch and great prices to be fair, Staff were brilliant, very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place...

A Perfect Hangout for friends. You'll be greeted by a warm welcome. The drink menu is impressive, from expertly crafted cocktails to an extensive selection of soju and beer, there’s something for everyone. The food menu offers a fantastic selection of authentic korean dishes.

Went to dinner with my cousin , we have never been before but the menu looked amazing the restaurant was very busy and the customer service was excellent we ordered and drinks and food were served very fast. But the food was a let down lacked flavour mostly deep fried with excessive amount of batter wouldn’t recommend the salt a pepper crab as there was hardly no crab but a lot of batter with no spice. Very disappointing

Thames LIDO is a renovated swimming pool in Reading, offering a unique experience for both swimmers and food enthusiasts. The glass-walled restaurant serves Mediterranean tapas and mains, making it a popular dining spot. Visitors can start their day with breakfast by the outdoor heated pool before indulging in dishes like bacon sarnies on homemade sourdough or wood-roast kippers with mustard.
The ambiance and service were exceptional. We enjoyed both a massage and breakfast during our visit. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the massage was both relaxing and soothing. The breakfast was delicious, with a distinct Turkish/Middle Eastern vibe that added to the experience. Additionally, there was a lovely pool to enjoy. Highly recommended!
Jesumbo O — Google review
I’m a sucker for the eat and swim package at Lido. There’s just something so satisfying about enjoying a good meal after all that swimming. The restaurant itself is lovely, with super friendly and welcoming staff. We started with the buffalo cheese and tomatoes—fresh and light. For the main, we shared a sirloin steak with a side of salad and potatoes. Pro tip: dip the potatoes in the beef sauce—it’s a game-changer. To finish, we had the meringue for dessert—light, zesty, and the perfect end to the meal.
Niusha A — Google review
A great place to meet-up with friends, have a swim, a massage & a lovely breakfast. I liked the Orange Juice and the Orange Blossom Mojito. And the options, though limited are good. My friend liked her Bacon Sandwich and I liked my Turkish eggs and Sourdough in walnut butter. Loved the vibe!
Ananya M — Google review
Really gorgeous place! Very worth the visit! Great staff, excellent food and facilities were excellent! If there is a criticism to be made, I'd say the shower rooms are a little on the small side. Really wonderful overall!
Cyndee C — Google review
Such a great experience and so well organised. Loved that there were no kids in there when I arrived at 5.30pm. One thing I didn’t realise was that it was a lap pool instead of just swimming/ chilling. It did get more relaxed towards the end. They said it was 26 degrees but was freezing. You do eventually get used to the temperature. The hot tub was crowded and felt more like the temperature the pool should have been but was perfect on a warm day. The food, drinks and service was impeccable. Can’t wait to come back again and try the rest of it. Seriously so, so good!
V M — Google review
Booked in advance for a 2 hour guest swim. During the winter months this costs £20 per person. Lido has limited free parking and you can take your own towel (or hire at a charge). Take your own sliders as the floor is freezing during the colder months. Have visited their other Lido at Bristol and this is a very similar set up, with swim, sauna, steam room and bubble pool included in the price + the lush changing facilities with individual showers and yummy body wash/shampoo. The bubble pool is continuously packed (it was at Bristol too), and the water jets were almost nonexistent! Pool is a good temperature for swimming lanes, although there was a lot of hair/debris in the pool. Staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. In many places you can pay upwards of £10 for an hour's swim in an outdoor pool without all the added extras provided by Thames Lido, so this is relatively good value for money for a lido with a difference.
Anya C — Google review
Just enjoyed an indulgent swim and breakfast session at the historic Thames Lido. The pool is a full 25m length, 1.2m deep throughout and kept at a constant 26.5 degrees. On a warm day that feels cool so most people swim rather than lounge, but after a couple of lengths the water feels refreshing rather than cold. The hot tub, sauna and steam room are all spotless and good size although the hot tub is popular so choose a good moment or be prepared to bump up against others! Changing and shower facilities are clean and good, with lovely smelling body wash available. The outdoor showers with stripy-curtains and pull cord operation are fun, but the indoor showers are very nice if you prefer to be able to lock the door behind you. Breakfast was delicious, with a hot drink and juice included in the package. Service was friendly and fast. Highly recommended and good value for money compared with other spa experiences.
Nicola C — Google review
A midweek visit to Thames Lido offered a refreshing swim and a thoughtfully composed meal in a bright, breezy setting by the pool. The menu struck a confident balance: not overly long, but with enough variety to feel considered, and several combinations stood out for their novelty and flair. The duck breast main was a solid example—flavoursome and nicely complemented by freekeh, whose nutty bite made a welcome change from more predictable grains. The duck itself was well-cooked, though edging more done than ideal; a slightly pinker centre would have made the texture and flavour sing. A heavier hand with the salt also nudged the seasoning past its best point. Among the sides, the courgettes with za’atar and the crispy potatoes with bell pepper ketchup were both skilfully prepared and well matched to the mains. The real standout, though, was dessert. Ice cream laced with sourdough offered intrigue without gimmick, and the dark chocolate and miso sorbet was a masterclass in balance, unexpected and entirely delicious. By contrast, the chocolate mousse (generous to a fault) started strong, its olive oil and za’atar garnish adding interest. However, the richness became overwhelming midway through, and the oil-seed combo ultimately dominated the finish. The service throughout was friendly and attentive, with enough staff present to keep everything moving smoothly. The lido’s atmosphere—sunlight, gentle music, and a sense of low-key indulgence—rounded off the visit with a touch of calm charm. A few small tweaks could elevate the food from very good to excellent, but overall, it was a memorable way to combine swim and supper.

Modern French restaurant
Event venue
Fine dining restaurant
L'Ortolan is a high-end restaurant located in the Berkshire countryside, housed in a former vicarage. The elegant dining rooms with white tablecloths offer a modern French cuisine experience. The friendly and knowledgeable staff are passionate about their work and the menu. The restaurant's gold-medal-winning cuisine promises to take diners on a culinary adventure with flavors that linger long after the meal is over.
I write this review with sadness, as the restaurant will be closing at the end of the month. I had the Chef's Experience, to be part of the kitchen for a day. I learnt a lot about fine dining, and also had the opportunity to taste the delicious food made there. I had a wonderful experience, the staff are impressively talented and friendly, always ready to serve and share their knowledge. It will be an experience I'll always remember. Another special mention to the baker, the bread and desserts were stunning!
Juan O — Google review
Why oh why oh why are they closing. This is the best restaurant for miles. The food and service last night were just amazing. I am not sure who the current chef is but they should be snapped up. The creativity, flavour combinations and appearance were simply breathtaking. We have dined in the best restaurants in the uk and abroad and L’Ortolan is one of, if not the best. Service was faultless and the fine wine pairing was perfect along with the descriptions from their outstanding sommelier who is slightly biased towards northern Italy but with very good reason, a delicious selection. I also think that their prices are just too low, amazing value. Thank you L’Ortolan. Please change your mind !! Stay open.
Robert K — Google review
Just had an amazing 5-star experience. The food was top quality. What made it an experience was the chefs table. We sat in full view of the kitchen, watching ours and other guests' food being prepared. Seeing how a professional kitchen works. The chef dressed our lunch on the pass and came round to tell us all about the course, not just what we were about to eat but what was in it, where the ingredients were soursed and what flavours to expect.
Derek B — Google review
My husband took me here for birthday dinner! Great foods, drinks and atmosphere. Nicely displayed dishes with special and fresh ingredients! Good selection of cocktails as well. Great place for occasions and family gatherings
Sheila G — Google review
Excellent Chef table experience. It is not only food and drink. Gettign to talk to the staff was an amazing experience. The food was delicious. I opted for a diary and meat free menu. Every dish was amazing. Every bite was full of flavour. In terms of drinks, I normally only drink water with lunch. This time, I went for the mocktail pairing. I loved all of them, sugar free, creative and full of new flavours.
Amaia S — Google review
Loved the experience Pros + Well crafted menu + balanced tasting dishes + vegetarian menu available + courteous staff + green surroundings which add to positive feel Opportunity areas - given the menu and the weather we missed soup (we had vegetarian). Though that's the restaurants prerogative to design the menu, just sharing the idea.
Amit J — Google review
Lovely venue. Good was delicious and the cocktails were good too We had the tasting menu with the classic wine pairing. Was amazing and left absolutely stuffed. All in the meal was around 3 hours but we had a drink in the lounge before our meal We didn't feel rushed at any point and the service was very attentive. Our night was just over £400 when you add in service. Not a regular trip based on this but well worth the visit for s special occasion
David — Google review
We went for The Chef’s Table experience - a 7 courses lunch which was absolutely delicious! We were sitting literally in front of the kitchen watching the chefs cooking and sending the plates. Every single course was more and more tasty, big applause especially for the carpaccio, the cod & the lamb! The service was amazing, the whole team was very friendly & polite. 👏🏻 to the Chefs! Will definitely be back!

Nestled in the heart of east Reading, The Lyndhurst is a charming pub and eatery that exudes warmth with its natural wood accents and exposed brick walls. This cozy spot is known for its inviting atmosphere and an unpretentious menu that showcases delightful British cuisine. One standout dish is their chicken karaage, which has undergone a delicious evolution since it first graced the menu last year.
Saw online this was the best Sunday Roast place in Reading so brought my boyfriend and parents there today, food was absolutely amazing and the staff was nice and friendly, probably one of the best Sunday roast i had in the UK, highly recommend
Skylar J — Google review
I used to frequent this nice looking pub regularly and decided to pop in for a couple of beers with my partner at about 10 pm. Karaoke was noisy and most, if not all customers were outside as a result. I didn’t hear anything about last orders but went in at 10.57 and barman said sorry closed. Needless to say I’ll not be going back soon unless their attitude changes for the better. Sad because I’m a local and genuinely like the place
Richard H — Google review
Lovely pub, really nice and cozy atmosphere inside. I really fancied a steak and I had it with a lovely glass of the Californian Malbec. Food was quickly served, well presented and extremely tasty, super well seasoned steak. The two gentlemen behind the bar are the kindest ever, fantastic customer service. Thanks guys, I am coming back tomorrow for Sunday Roast!!!!
Chris M — Google review
Popped in on a Friday because we saw they had a TV showing the cricket. The pub had a great vibe and a good selection of drinks including what looks like a rotating arrangement of local and national real ale (at the time we went, they had a local real ale on which is great to see and drink!). Only a short walk from the Town centre, this is a great option for anyone wanting the escape the monotony of chain bars in Reading town centre
Sam T — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised by the culinary delights that were served. The food was nothing short of luscious, bursting with vibrant flavors that truly tantalized my taste buds. Although the menu was not extensive, it certainly did not lack in variety. I found myself delighting in many dishes that were skillfully prepared with the fresh fish and seafood. The Karaage chicken was an impeccable choice for an appetizer or as a satisfying option to enjoy between courses. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of Mexican cuisine, I was skeptical when I saw the Al Pastor taco on the menu, but upon trying it, I must admit that it was surprisingly authentic in taste and presentation. The Hake with mussels was another culinary masterpiece. The dish was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a sauce that was both flavorful and well-balanced. Dessert did not disappoint either, as the strawberry tart was an exquisite finale to an already remarkable meal. The service provided by the staff was impeccable, and the selection of beverages was impressive. In conclusion, this establishment is without a doubt a must-visit destination for anyone who desires delicous food

Really very good Sunday roasts. Too full for pudding but sure that's probably good too. Have been back numerous times and rest of menu is awesome as well. Just had the pork belly with peaches starter/small plate and it was the best thing I've eaten in ages!
Sally L — Google review
I have been to the Lyndhurst many times, and would 100% recommend it. The food is brilliant and completely unexpected from a roadside traditional looking pub. I've taken friends, family and my partner. The staff are lovely and even though I now live over half an hour away, I try to come back. Burger and curry nights are lovely, and wonderful value. We went here for Christmas dinner and it was great, best roast in reading!

Absolutely loved my experience at Miller & Carter. The food was delicious, the steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavour, and the desserts were just as impressive. Everything was well presented, the service was great, and the prices matched the quality of the dishes. I have no complaints at all and would definitely go back again. Highly recommended!

Went for the date night menu to celebrate a birthday. Very good value for money, with a surcharge on the cut of meat we chose. Staff were very friendly and also gave us a complimentary birthday treat. Was quite a busy Thursday evening, so there was a wait between courses which is understandable. Overall a very nice experience.

Had a brilliant dinner at Miller & Carter Steakhouse in Reading with a large group, and everything from start to finish was spot on. The staff were welcoming, super helpful, and really attentive—even with a big party, nothing felt rushed or chaotic. Service was impressively quick, and our drinks and starters came out smoothly. When it came to the mains, the steaks were exactly what you'd expect from Miller & Carter—cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavour, with that signature char. Everyone in our group was impressed, regardless of how they ordered their steak. The layout of the restaurant is spacious, making it ideal for bigger groups without feeling cramped. It had a relaxed yet slightly upscale atmosphere, perfect for a celebration or just a great evening out. Definitely a top choice in Reading if you're after great steak, solid service, and a group-friendly setting.

Had my first time with my parents here as a celebration and it was absolutely incredible. for. Food was excellent and so worth the spend! Definitely will be back cannot fault at all! We had an amazing waitress Laura who we couldn’t have been more grateful for. Very friendly and so so helpful! Thanks so much 😁

Wow! This Miller and carter was incredible. I've been to a M&C before but this one was on a different level. The service was astounding, so attentive, professional, quick and friendly, very smiley and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs. The food was top notch, our starter came out within 5 minutes, so speedy yet so delicious, the mains took a bit longer, they told us it'd be 20 - 25 minutes - no problem but then it came out in a much quicker time then we we're expecting and might be the best steak I've had in a very long time! (Definitely recommend the ribeye with beef dripping sauce) and pudding again, quick and great! Atmosphere was fancy and lovely, very clean and welcoming. Highly recommend

Hi everyone, my wife and I recently had dinner here to celebrate a special event, we ended up ordering a bit more then we could eat but I can't be more happy with the way we were treated and the food was exceptional, the whole service was great from start to finish, we were helped by Diego, the food was cooked perfectly and the meat was done exactly how we asked, super fresh, tasty and great portions , can't recommend this place more, of course with good quality meat comes a decent price, it was a bit more then we usually spend a dinner but it was 110% worth it, we are already discussing going to have another visit soon, what we ordered was suitable for 3 or even 4 people, just have a look at the pictures and give them a try !

Had a lovely visit to Miller and Carter today. We were served by Joe who was a lovely, friendly and happy. He was very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the duck and mango salad and it was very tasty (just slightly to many chillies). We were there to celebrate my son's graduations and a birthday and they brought over free desserts for both and sang happy birthday. Brilliant visit and will definitely visit again.

Argentinian restaurant
Buenasado Argentine Steakhouse in Reading offers an authentic and delicious dining experience, especially for steak lovers. The 28-day aged steaks are highly recommended, with options like the Rib-eye and Sirloin. The service is outstanding, with staff members like Giovanni and Brigita going above and beyond to make the evening special. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, complemented by attentive service and well-crafted cocktails.
This is my 2nd time coming here. This time it was a Team meal, no one else in our group had been here before. I ordered the Ribeye and so did 3 of my colleagues. Our Boss went for the Fillet. The wait time was a little long because of how busy it was, however we were seen regular and we got some nice photos together. The food arrived and was piping hot and cooked to perfection. One of our Team is from South Africa and stated that this was the single best Steak he has had in the U.K. in 5 years (he loves steak). Everyone else was in awe at the quality. For Dessert we had Churros and they were also amazing. The Bill was reasonable for 4 persons with lots of Soft drinks and coffees. As you would expect the location was cleaner than a Hospital and the staff were amazing throughout. We were also impressed that the staff knew which meal was for which person. Next time I plan a day out to Reading I will bring my Family as they will all love it here.

Buenasado is a really nice venue located right on the edge of the Oracle shopping centre - it is bolted to the side. But what a venue. When you enter (the door is surprisingly heavy?) you find a darkly decorated and relaxing interior. This has two floors of tables. It has a really nice clean and darkly modern feel. The menu is decent and centred around steak cuts (being a steakhouse…). I chose sirloin 11oz with a side of broccoli. The steak itself was cooked well and tasty however for me there was too much fat. Maybe I’m just fussy but I don’t like lots of chunks of fat on my steak. Note this seems to be a thing with steak houses in the UK as opposed to Dublin where the rump steaks have virtually no fat. Can’t fault the food though. The chunky chips are tasty and deceptively filling. There is a good wine list to choose from. The staff were very friendly, efficient and very good. I will go back. Recommended.

First time visiting here and was very impressed. The food was delicious, steak cooked to perfection and all served with a smile. Definitely need to book in advance as it was very busy, especially for a Thursday evening.

Interesting!! Allergies caused some issues, be it not one of the main notifiable ones. Good shared starter of Provolone cheese bake. Main a pasta dish with prawns and cherry tomatoes was good, but the rare sirloin was at best cool. I went for beef milanese, also cooler than expected. Chips were good. Service was good seeking different sauces to cover off gluten and pepper allergies, let down by delivering one dish with a sauce that they said was inappropriate for the allergies.

Me and my fiance went and had the 100g option of 4 steaks per person. The meat was cooked perfectly and the taste was exceptional! Highly recommend, and the price is pretty fair for the quantity you get. Will be returning.

I really enjoyed the experience and service at the restaurant. The food was nice and tasty, and I had a great birthday lunch here. A bonus is that the food is halal, which made the experience even better.
Honufa — Google review
A rib eye, known for its rich marbling, when cooked to a perfect medium, should be incredibly flavorful and tender, almost melting in your mouth. Reviewers often highlight the beautiful char on the outside, which locks in the juices, and a warm, pink center that signifies ideal doneness. The steak is typically seasoned simply with salt to let the quality of the beef shine through. It's almost always served with traditional Argentinian garnishes like chimichurri (a vibrant sauce of parsley, garlic, oregano, olive oil, and vinegar) and sometimes a finely diced red pepper salsa, which add a fresh, zesty counterpoint to the rich meat. Many reviews praise the generous portion sizes and the overall authenticity of the experience, often noting that the meat quality surpasses what's commonly found elsewhere. The focus is on simple, unpretentious preparation that highlights the natural deliciousness of the beef.

Went here to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and he said the steak was one of the best he’s ever had (and he’s had many!). I really enjoyed my aubergine starter and vegetarian main course as well. The service was friendly and attentive, and they even prepared a sweet little surprise for my husband, which made the evening extra special. Thank you for a wonderful experience 🎂🥳🎊

The vintage-inspired space is the perfect setting to enjoy a variety of mouthwatering dishes, bespoke cocktails, and live entertainment. The menu features an array of botanical cocktails such as The Plant Pot and Lilipad Martini.
I had a wonderful experience at Botanist Reading. The ambience was amazing and the food was really good – the lamb kebab, in particular, was excellent. A special mention to Vivianne, who was very attentive and explained everything in detail, making the experience even better. Great service overall! 5 stars for sure!

We had a really good lunch at The Botanist. The calamari was amazing—perfectly cooked, very soft, and full of flavor. The sea bass was also excellent, cooked just right and tasty. Also tried the Botanist Lemonade, which was super refreshing. Chocolate s’mores cookie dough was delicious. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Probably need more waiters during the week as we struggled at times to get the waiters. Overall, a great experience, and we’d definitely come back!

Visited The Botanist for friends birthday treat. Glad we did as never been before. Service good and food delishand cooked to order. Had a fab cocktail to wash it all down. We went at lunchtime and were surprised as only a few people in there but I guess we were lucky as went early in time and week. Would recommend and will return.

I had an amazing experience at The Botanist Reading as part of a team-building event! The food was outstanding - I started with the Hanging Kebabs with Halloumi Cheese, which was grilled to perfection, and the Hummus was creamy and delicious. For dessert, the Cookie Dough was rich and indulgent. The atmosphere was lively and relaxed, with great service. Highly recommend The Botanist Reading for a fun and memorable team-building event or dinner with friends!

Me and my partner visited the botanist, Reading recently for a meal to celebrate my partners birthday. The place was very busy but the service was still OK, a little slow at first (drinks arriving) but the food arrived promptly and was delicious so no complaints. The waitresses and waiter were very pleasant. Overall was happy with my experience. Unfortunately it was ruined quite a bit when we were leaving due to poor communication between staff. As we were walking out the door a waitress ran over and quite loudly asked us to wait as we hadn't paid. This was in front of everyone too. I informed her that I had indeed paid In cash to the other waitress that had come over to take payment, she then asked if I was sure which was highly embarrassing and awkward for myself and my partner. I think the personal touch was missing as there were multiple waiting staff waiting on each table so they were bound to get confused. I think they should have a better system in place and communication to ensure things like that don't happen. It was not a nice experience and left a horrible feeling after such a nice meal. Probably wouldn't return. Shame as it was a beautifully decorated place, definitely the kind I like the ambiance of but the ending ruined it for me.

Pepe Sale is a bright and inviting restaurant with chequered tile floors and marble-topped tables, offering traditional Sardinian cuisine. The owner, Toni Sale, who hails from Sardinia, aims to bring the authentic flavors of the island to guests. The menu features Sardinian specialties such as Pane Carasatu bread, homemade pastas, wild boar, fish dishes, and the house specialty - slowly roasted Suckling Piglet.
Love this place - Pepe Sale is perhaps the best dining experience for Sardinian cuisine anywhere in the UK. Food is always fresh and the portions are very generous. Service staff are polite and helpful and always ready to make you feel at home. In fact the entire atmosphere in this restaurant feels more like visiting someone’s home. Great selection of wines as well that are well-thought out to match with the specials as well as the regular menu. Dessert is great - especially the tiramisu and profiteroles. My favourite item is the ravioli stuffed with cod or sea bass and blackened with squid ink. The owner / chef takes a personal interest in diners, often visiting each table and taking orders. Have been here several times and will keep going. A real plus for Reading.

One of the best experience in an Italian restaurants!! Amazing staff, food and atmosphere. Especially for dates! Girls dinner or birthday dinners, wonderful!!. We had Spaghetti allo Scoglio (spaghetti with seafood) 10/10, Pasta con carne ragù 10/10, Tagliatelle al Salmone (Tagliatelle with Salmon) 10/10 and the other one I don't remembered lol. Amazing!!! Give it a try.

One of the best restaurants in Reading! This is an authentic Italian restaurant (not a chain!), with really tasty food and with nice service. I have been several times and always tried different dishes, and none disappointed me so far, really liked all of them. I strongly recommend the raviolis as they are handmade! I have tried the ricotta raviolis and the special crab raviolis (these are not available everyday) and loved both! It is usual quite busy, so I would recommend to book a table if you want to try it.

The French Horn in Sonning, Berkshire is a charming restaurant known for its great service, friendly staff, and beautiful views. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and serves as an ideal location for brunch or breakfast. Additionally, it provides a comfortable lounge space where patrons can work, relax, or meet with friends throughout the day. With vintage-style interiors and PVC domes available to book at various locations, including Tower Bridge and Putney among others, The French Horn offers a unique dining experience.
Absolutely phenomenal! We discovered the hotel by accident when we needed a room at last minute, only then did we discover it has a Michelin star restaurant. Our first surprise was the fact that the included breakfast is room service by default. This alongside how lovely the rooms are really made the stay unforgettable. We came back 2 months later for my partner's birthday meal and we're blown away, the food was fantastic, and the service could not be better! We will be returning in the future, and have nothing but positive things to say about the experience!
Oliver B — Google review
Against our better judgment (and a recommendation), we subjected ourselves to a weekend at The French Horn. The dinner? Oh, it was a masterclass in mediocrity, with food so 'vintage' it practically had cobwebs. Our room was, shockingly, quite nice. But then, to truly cap off the experience, breakfast arrived on a tray so filthy, it looked like it had survived a food fight. Bon appétit

Sonning on the river Thames is a wonderful location. This is an iconic restaurant that we’ve driven past for more than 20 years. We have just had a wonderful experience and lunch. Yes it’s expensive but it’s an amazing experience. Great food and wonderful old fashioned service. We loved it and will go back. Don’t wait as it’s up for sale. Go and try it now 😁♥️

It is going to be expensive and is heading to over priced, and the decor hasn’t changed in twenty years. Once we get these things out of the way the lobster cake was amazing, the duck the signature dish and finished with some fine desserts. The service was attentive and relaxed. And a wonderful location. Lead with your taste buds and not your weekly (my wife says monthly) shopping budget and you will leave contented.

Hamburger restaurant
Honest Burgers Reading is a must-visit for burger enthusiasts. This restaurant offers unique, local burgers exclusive to its branch, such as the jerk chicken burger featuring jerk chicken thigh, smoked bacon, and American cheese. The establishment prides itself on using premium grass-fed beef from the Scottish Highlands and serves homemade rosemary chips daily. Additionally, it caters to gluten allergies by offering gluten-free options for both burgers and sides.
Great place with a nice atmosphere. I was welcomed by a male staff who is always very nice and helpful as I have been in this place few times and been served by him. Even tho I came early and it was not very busy the male staff kept himself very busy by restocking the drinks etc. During my visit he made sure everything is fine and I am ok. The restaurant is very big so it’s plenty of room to sit. There is Christmas decorations all over the place. My vegan burger was great as always. Great experience. Highly recommend for people who haven’t tried it yet. I don’t eat meat but heard the beef burger is great too, better than the chicken one.
Marta P — Google review
Me and my partner have been twice and both times the food has been fantastic. I do enjoy a good burger and these are up there with as good as any I've had. And I think in the current climate for eating out, the food is very reasonable. I have been to a few Honest burger's in London and the consistency isn't great between branches. This Reading branch is able to produce the highest standard of the chain, and has done so on both occasions I have visited.
Joe P — Google review
Great burger, good range of local beers and fair pricing let down by small window seats on the side of the restaurant. Popped in for lunch as really fancied a burger and the food didn’t disappoint. Local ingredients, a simple menu with good variety and fair ‘city’ pricing. The only issue were the narrow seats on the window table we were assigned. I wasn’t fully comfortable, and neither was my wife. Not enough to make a deal out of, but this work larger posteriors might want an inner table.

I can't give anything less than 5 stars. Food was delicious as always but the Reading branch in particular seems to have very lovely staff. Huw served us yesterday and is fantastic. Lovely manager from Scotland whose name I've forgotten. Both have such pride in their jobs and make the restaurant so welcoming.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Honest Burgers Reading – Great food, fast service! Had a great experience ordering from Honest Burgers Reading via Uber Eats for pickup. I ordered the DOUBLE SMASHED Burger, LARGE Buffalo Wings (Hot), SMALL BBQ Tenders, and Rosemary Salted Chips. The food came to £26.20 but with an Uber Eats discount of £10.48, I paid only £15.72—great value for the quality! The burger was just what I expected: hot, fresh, and packed with flavour. The buffalo wings were spicy, tender, and a generous portion. The BBQ tenders were also really tasty and nicely cooked. Only the rosemary fries were a little on the cold side—but still had great flavour. Service was quick and smooth—my order was ready for pick-up on time with no fuss. The staff were polite and efficient. Definitely a place I’d return to. Highly recommend it, especially with an Uber Eats deal!

Thirsty Bear Pub & Pizza Restaurant is a laid-back spot on Kings Road, Reading, offering a variety of Italian dishes and an impressive drinks menu. The stylish interiors and rooftop terrace provide a cool dining experience. Their specialty lies in serving outstanding pizzas made with a secret dough recipe and homemade sauce. In addition to the pizza selection, they offer Italian appetizers, pasta dishes, cocktails, beer, and wine.
The food was really good. We tried the 20-inch pizza, and it was enough for 3 people 😆. However, I didn't really enjoy my carbonara pasta that much, and I think it could be better. I think there was also a new staff who wasn't that confident and forgot to put in one of our orders and we had to wait after our food came, but they gave use discount so it was quite fair. It was totally a nice visit and recommended for the large pizzas.

This place is such a hidden gem. Staff went above and beyond to make our (annoyingly) specific order. It has lovely vibe with a cosy rooftop terrace to enjoy an ice cold pint and delicious giant pizza slices. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Flynn D — Google review
My family and I recently discovered Thirsty Bear Pub and Pizza, and it has quickly become our go-to spot whenever we're craving pizza! The variety on their menu is fantastic, offering a wide selection of pizzas that cater to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian tastes. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see plenty of creative options that didn’t make me feel limited. For those who enjoy meat, there’s an even broader range of choices that my friends highly recommend. The pizza here is always fresh, flavorful, and made with quality ingredients. The crust is just the right balance of crispy and soft, and the toppings are generous without overpowering the base. To top it off, Thirsty Bear also has an impressive range of drinks, perfect for pairing with the meal. Whether you’re a fan of craft beer or prefer non-alcoholic options, there’s something for everyone. Prices are affordable, making it a great spot for both quick bites and relaxed gatherings. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, ideal for spending time with friends or family. Thirsty Bear Pub and Pizza has truly become our favorite pizza destination, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone

If you're willing to walk a little out of town this place is incredible! Our party of three had a phenomenal experience at The Thirsty Bear, the beer was great, the music playlist was brilliant, the staff were so lovely and the food.. just wow, you might think that it's a little pricey for a slice of pizza but the slices are huge and the quality made it more than worth the price. My favourite thing would definitely have to be the Jalapeno Poppers. We will definitely be booking in again.

Had to write a review after my second order because honestly, their pizza is bloody amazing. First tried it takeaway, then ordered on Deliveroo, and both times it was phenomenal. Like, seriously, the best pizza I've ever had, hands down. My absolute fave is the Hell's Kitchen pizza. It's got a kick, but nothing that'll make you cry (unless you're that way inclined, of course!). Honestly, can't recommend Thirsty Bear enough. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nestled in the heart of Reading, Market House is a delightful bar and restaurant that combines history with modern flair. With its rooftop bar offering stunning views and a lively outdoor space, it's an ideal spot to unwind with friends over delicious cocktails and market-style dishes like sourdough pizzas and burgers.
It's hard to know how to condense what I want to say about this place and all of its staff... I organised a 2 day event here, with the help of Makana and Olivia. Around 40 people with 15 needing rooms. The team were flawless, friendly, professional and beyond helpful. Once at the venue I was in awe. The website and photos don't truly capture the size or more importantly, the vibe. It was closed and empty when I arrived (apart from staff setting up) but the lights were on and music playing and immediately the anxiety I'd had as the even organiser evaporated, being replaced with a building excitement for the days to come. Every single one of my attendees commented on how spectacular the rooms were, how good the food was, how smoothly the events ran. Shout out to Rich, Kasha and Ben behind the bar for keeping us going with our food and drinks, making my expenses easy to pay and file. Huge thanks to Olivia for being on site and on hand at all times, so often not the case with event managers! Will definitely be back again some time!

The karaoke machine had a wide range of songs to search and select from. Highly recommend for a fun get together activity! Brilliant pub in the centre of Reading. Great atmosphere with customers playing shuffle boards, singing in the karaoke booth, playing darts etc. Not the best place if you want a quiet drink, but I enjoyed it. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DID NOT HAVE A MEAL THIS VISIT. This is the reason there is only one star against the food score.

My Daughter and her Husband chose Market House for their wedding reception. The atmosphere was relaxed and the wedding not at all formal. All who attended ( about 50 people) had a fantastic day on the Third Floor roof Terrace. Makana who managed the event worked tirelessly to ensure that the day went well and without any issues. On the day she was lovely to deal with and nothing was too much trouble. Both Makana and the staff who worked on the event deserve a great deal of credit for the way it ran. Thank you all x KD

We visited on a weekday summer's evening and made for the roof terrace. The rooftop bar was closed so rounds of drinks required a trip back to the ground floor in the lift, which is odd, but we had a good time nonetheless. There is shade and, on a hot day, the extra ventilation is very welcome. I imagine the ground floor is cosy on a cool day. Food good - can recommend the pizzas.

Review of the Bottomless Tapas deal. Our overall opinion was that this £19.95 pp deal was not worth it. The tapas selection was reasonable and after trying most of the tapas options, we ended up eating chicken wings over and over. It was the best choice out of a poor bunch. The service was good but the food was plain average… You could go to Cosmo in the week and have an ‘All You Can Eat’ great variety and better quality food for the same price. I would only stick to happy hour cocktails at Las Iguanas.

Massive thanks to the team at Las Iguanas Reading, especially Marta and Joy, for making my Hen Do so incredibly special. They truly went above and beyond. About a week before the event, I popped into the restaurant to scope out the best spot for our celebration. Marta was unbelievably helpful. She took the time to show me around and reserved a lovely, cosy corner for us, which was just perfect. On the day itself, we had the Bottomless Brunch, and Joy looked after us brilliantly. He was so warm and attentive, keeping the drinks flowing and making sure everything was spot on. Marta also popped over during the brunch, and her kind words and warm wishes for my upcoming big day really touched me. All the hens had an amazing time. We couldn’t have asked for a better send-off! We’ll absolutely be spreading the word and will definitely be back. Thank you again for everything – obrigado! 💃✨

The buffet-style setup includes a wide variety of dishes such as sushi, noodles, pizza, seafood, and more from different parts of the world. The ambiance at COSMO Reading is laid-back with soft lighting and welcoming decor, making it an ideal place for a casual meal with friends or family.
The variety was impressive. There was a dedicated section for sushi and sashimi that was constantly restocked, and the seafood on ice—including shrimp, crab legs, and oysters—was very fresh. The carving station was a highlight, with a perfectly cooked roast beef and a delicious herb-crusted ham. The hot food section had a great international selection. The Chinese-style honey walnut shrimp was a crowd-pleaser, and the Italian pasta station allowed you to customize your dish. I also appreciated the live cooking counters where chefs prepared noodles and teppanyaki right in front of you.

Recently visited this buffet restaurant, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The place is very spacious, which is great for accommodating larger groups. They offer an impressive variety of dishes and cuisines, including Indian, Italian, Chinese, and Thai, ensuring there's something for everyone. The pricing is quite reasonable for the spread they offer. However, it does get quite crowded in the evenings, so I’d strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid waiting. The food itself was slightly above average in taste, with the desserts standing out as particularly good. A solid choice for those looking for variety at a fair price!

This buffet is like heaven-on-earth!! Varieties of meals from different continents to choose from. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an “all you can eat” buffet. There’s also a cool robot that takes you to your allocated table. Give Cosmo Reading a try, and I can assure you that you will not regret it.

I went to Cosmo, Reading today and was so impressed with my experience! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the grilled seafood prepared by Ganesh. My favourite dishes were the shrimp and squid which was cooked to perfection. It was so good I went back for more many times. The service was also excellent. I would like to show my appreciation to all floor staff, especially Emma and Barona. They were both so attentive and caring, my empty plates were cleared almost instantly and they made sure everything I needed was taken care of. The restaurant was impeccably clean, the dishes were full of flavour, and everything was so worth the price. The highlight of my time there was definitely having a robot sing me Happy Birthday alongside a plate of small cakes! I loved that so much and i'm grateful for the friendly staff who helped me prepare that surprise. I’d definitely recommend Cosmo for anyone looking for top tier dishes and amazing service, or is looking for a place to celebrate their birthday as you would surely be having an amazing time here. Thank you again for all the staff who served me during my time there and I’ll for sure be coming back!

We visited on Sunday afternoon around 4pm. Place was crowded, many families and birthday celebrations. We were sitting in the spot where we constantly had people passing by us and kids running around. It was hard to move around. Food was just ok, from my observations was mostly asian food- Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese. I saw tacos as well, pizza some pasta. I saw many options for meat but as a pescatarian person I had limited options. I loved the mushrooms. Big selection of desserts, ice cream, fruits. Staff was nice, we were explained how it works in Cosmo. I always wanted to visit but I don’t think I will be back. If you don’t like crowded places it’s not for you. Maybe week days are less busy. We paid 56£ including food and 2 drinks.

Nestled in a vibrant locale, House of Flavours Indian Restaurant & Bar is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With sizzling meats on hot griddles and an array of regional curries, this modern eatery invites you to indulge in authentic Indian cuisine without breaking the bank. The spacious and inviting atmosphere enhances your meal, making it perfect for both casual lunches and special occasions.
Visited Reading after 10 years and of-course I had to come back to my favorite Indian restaurant which I used to frequent often! Got to see some old faces such as Tony which was really good however the most standout point is the food and consistency in taste and serving sizes had remained the same, which is an impressive feat, so congrats to the entire HOF team. It was a Friday night so great to see the restaurant packed, the food and service was exceptional, although having some music in the background would have been nice, but the food was 10/10 som glad this has been kept up 👍🏻

Had dinner with a couple of colleagues. Ordered the banquet set 1 for 4. Cheapest since we were not that hungry. A bit of a wait for the food as there were a big group before us. Had 2 rounds of double shots Gin & Tonic. Overall taste wise it was customised for the local taste buds. Still pretty good taste. However, the butter chicken was a bit too sweet for our taste buds. 4 of us felt it was like eating pure sweet and honey. Chef needs to add for garlic to enhance the taste and smell of the Garlic Naan. Staff were very polite and helpful. Server answered a ton of questions as we clarify and decide what to choose for our meal. She also helped with explaining the different sauces and dips. There was a live solo performer on guitar serenading the guests with songs.

First to Reading and heard much about House of Flavours from my friends and I'm from Birmingham. I couldn't believe it was packed on a Tuesday night! I ordered the Chilli Garlic fish and papadum as a starter and jumbo prawn biryani for the main course. I have to say, the food was amazing. The service was exceptional, despite the restaurant being busy. Mr. Nithin asked about the food, and thanks to the manager who also came to our table for a check-back. I couldn't find any fault. I went all alone but never felt like I was alone. The brownie was phenomenal too! Considering I was there just one day, I'd definitely recommend it. Great value for money. Nithin explained that they have a buffet during weekends, so I'll visit next time for the buffet.if I get a chance to visit reading.

House of Flavours offers a wonderful Indian dining experience, delicious food, a warm and inviting interior, and a fantastic buffet with plenty of tasty options. The à la carte menu is brilliant too! The friendly staff make every visit enjoyable. Every time I pass by, I’m tempted by the welcoming interior.

I visited couple of times while travelling back from London. This restaurant is excellent for North Indian food, offering delicious food. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a nice display of spices on the tables that adds to the authenticity of the dining experience. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We started with papadoms and drinks. The papadoms were served with a variety of dips, kids loved it. We also tried Daal makhani, Paneer, pulaav with cheese chili, garlic naan. Food was amazing as always. Overall, House of Flavours offers a great dining experience with good food, a nice atmosphere, and very helpful staff. I highly recommend it if you are around this area and looking for authentic Indian food.

I recently ordered Chicken Tikka, Butter Chicken, and Traditional Chicken Tikka from the House of Flavour Reading outlet. While the Butter Chicken was rich and flavourful, the overall experience fell short. The onions provided with the meal were stale, which really affected the taste. On top of that, the Traditional Chicken Tikka was not cooked well and lacked proper texture. I hope the Reading outlet pays more attention to freshness and cooking consistency, as the food has potential but needs improvement.

My experience in House of Flavors was amazing. The food was delicious and was served in a beautiful and impressive crockery The atmosphere was light and calm. I would definitely recommend this place for any occasion or just for fun. This is a decent place for Indian food.

I recently visited House of Flavors, and I had an amazing experience! The manager, Mr. Tony, was incredibly friendly and gave us some great food recommendations. Everything he suggested turned out to be delicious! The entire staff was welcoming, smart, and always had a smile on their faces, which made the atmosphere feel warm and inviting. The food itself was absolutely fantastic — full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. You can really tell that they care about both quality and service. I’ll definitely be coming back soon and recommending this place to my friends and family. ⭐ 5 stars all the way!

We get regular offers on food/drink so it's worth downloading the app. It's dog friendly, has outdoor seating and bonus points for great staff. The steak and the caeser salad were absolutely delicious and the cocktails never let us down. The location is very central, accessible, close to Reading central station and overlooks a nice part of town. Definitely worth a visit!

We arrived on Sunday morning at Opening. From the relaxed Greeting, ordering and food, the whole experience was brilliant. We opted for the breakfast choices, and was definitely not disappointed. A quaint relaxed atmosphere, great food and good coffee.. plus a little pot of smarties. Thanks to Tommy and the team. We will definitely see you again.

Very disappointing visit on a Sunday lunchtime. Zero interaction from staff meant we had no choice but to use the app to order food. Frustrating as the menu on the app and our paper menu didn’t agree on some of the items. My burger arrived and was pretty cold, right on the cusp of sending it back. The salad was drowned in a citrus marinade that made it inedible. My wife’s Siracha Salmon was a little too spicy for her, but we’re aware that’s an us thing and not her. Overall the staff were like robots, never said a word and just moved around like zombies. Food was poor, the place was cold and just didn’t feel inviting.

Always a good experience here with the food. Staff were polite and attentive and the atmosphere is just perfect. We always end up at the All Bar One whenever we’re having a Breakfast/Brunch out. The food is great and what attracted us the most was the vegetarian and healthy juices. Today we had the shared meze board and root juice....absolutely yummy!

The food we ordered was cauliflower fry and corn on cob(both veggies). They both were awesome and I would go back just for that. The drinks were good. We were first timers there so there was a watermelon cocktail that was given and it was superb. Went here again with our son today. The food and service was good as usual. Son loved his chicken quesadilla and we loved our cauliflower and spicy corn on the cob.

Quattro Italian Restaurant, located on Prospect Street in Caversham, is a family-run business with over 30 years of experience in serving authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant offers a modern setting and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Their menu features a wide range of Mediterranean classics including freshly made pasta, gourmet pizzas, and specialty meat and fish dishes. Customers have praised the delicious firewood pizza and ravioli as standout dishes.
Amazing, the food was just gorgeous, all the different flavours, our table had a mixture of seafood starters, lasagne, mushroom pasta, and carbonara and it was the most delicious meal I have had ever, I would recommend everytime. I would recommend booking as it can get very busy, but definitely go. Parking is behind the restaurant and there is an entrance though the back. Definitely coming again, service was amazing, made sure everything was good and we had everything we needed

Had recently visited this quaint little Italian restaurant in the Caversham area. My friends had dined there and have some good feedback. Recommend, you book a table in advance as the restaurant gets busy for dinner. Parking is available round the corner to the rear of the facility. The menu has an elaborate selection of drinks, pizza, fresh pasta and other Italian delicacies. Orders were swiftly taken and the starters came out almost instantly. As stated in the menu the pasta dishes are made fresh and do take some time to get served. Coming to taste, food was quite fresh and well seasoned. We'd have like the fettuccine to be cooked a minute longer and the risotto to be slightly creamier. But for that, everything else was delicious. Equally good was the selection of desserts. Service was efficient. Shall definitely revisit to try more dishes from their elaborate menu. Here's my overall rating Food - 4.25/5 Service - 4.5/5 Ambience- 4.5/5

Visited Quattro on a work visit to Reading. 5 of us in total dined here on a Saturday night. Atmosphere was good, was busy but not too loud. Had made a reservation based on very popular reviews on Google. We are certainly glad we made the trip to Quattro as the food was fantastic. I couldn't choose between the pasta dishes so had a pasta dish as a starter and a main! Food was cooked to perfection and was super tasty. Staff were extremely friendly and were quick to help our table. Would certainly recommend and I will definitely be back next time I am in Reading.

We had a really lovely Italian here this week. The food was well presented, tasty and the kids meals extremely good value! We would 100% recommend for nice Italian food! The kids menus also came activities on the back with a pen - so super kid friendly. Chargeable parking is around the back and because we went in an evening it was only £1 to park.

We were in a dilemma about where to go for a birthday celebration, but choosing Quattro turned out to be the best decision we could have made. From the moment you step inside, you know it’s going to be a great experience. The ambience, the lively vibes, and the courteous staff instantly make you feel that you’ve come to the right place. We started with Sorrentina and Mozzarella in Carrozza as appetizers. The Sorrentina was generous in size yet absolutely delicious, while the mozzarella was cooked to perfection. For the mains, we ordered Penne Arrabbiata and Risotto Marinara. The seafood in the risotto is still mouthwatering as I write this review. The portions were more than enough for us, and the bill came to around £70, including a drink each. We’ll definitely be going back -this time with friends. A celebration at Quattro is the kind you’ll always want to remember forever. 😍

Had a lovely meal on our holidays to Oxfordshire at Quattro. The spaghetti bolognese and pizza was amazing - fresh and came quickly. We had a great time and the staff were very friendly and polite. A really positive experience with excellent service, pleasant ambiance and a really tasty pizza. The complimentary pea based crisps were appreciated with my Meantime IPA and the vegan aubergine ‘meatball’ rustica pizza was really good, a thin base but generous size served on a board with fresh tomato and basil plus some chilli olive oil to spice it up. Will certainly return, more likely with an offer.

I visited Zizzi’s, Reading as a walk-in on 30/10/25. It was busy with a good atmosphere but we managed to get a table for 2. Shakeel, the manager was very attentive and nothing was too much of a problem for him. He allowed us to switch tables to accommodate 4 people when one became free (I needed space for a laptop), also for our starters that took up a lot of space! Freya served us and was absolutely brilliant too. It was only her 2nd shift but she was so friendly, helpful and nothing was too much of a problem for her either. The food was delicious - so thank you to the chefs. The restaurant was clean and overall it was a very lovely evening. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We visited Whittington’s Tea Barge yesterday as a family, and it was such a lovely experience. The setting on the boat is so peaceful and unique—perfect for a relaxing afternoon by the river. The afternoon tea was excellent. The scones were fluffy, served with delicious clotted cream and jam, and the tea selection was impressive. The staff were very friendly and made us feel truly welcome. My daughter absolutely loved it—she kept saying how cute and special the boat was! It’s a rare find that appeals to both adults and kids. Highly recommend for families, couples, or anyone looking for a cozy and memorable tea experience.
Cherie C — Google review
Whittington Tea Barge is very popular among people in Reading, and after joining their monthly 2-hour river cruise I can see why it has such a good reputation. The whole experience felt very special. The weather was warm and not windy, which made it perfect for cruising along the River Thames. With only 12 people on board, it was calm, friendly, and never crowded — a very personal experience compared to bigger boat trips. At the time of boarding, I was served the tea set. The handmade scones were fresh and delicious, and the service was good and welcoming throughout. The tea set also included sandwiches, desserts, and a choice of coffee or tea — all well prepared, nicely presented, and filling. It felt like the perfect balance between a traditional English tea and a relaxed river journey. Afterwards, I went up to the top deck. If the weather is good, I highly recommend sitting outside — the views of the River Thames are absolutely amazing and it is such a peaceful way to spend the afternoon. The whole cruise was very well organised, with enough time to enjoy both the food and the scenery without feeling rushed. For future visitors, it’s worth knowing that the river cruise only runs once a month and you need to reserve in advance as spaces are limited. On normal weekends, the barge stays in its usual spot on the river and serves a special weekend menu, so you can still enjoy eating on the boat even if there is no cruise that day. Overall, this was a wonderful and memorable experience — great food, friendly service, and beautiful river views. A lovely way to spend a couple of hours by the water in Reading. Highly recommended!

This is a perfect place for family and friends gathering. The service is tip top, friendly and welcoming. The owner always has something interesting to share with. The beverage is brilliant. I am in love with their Hong Kong style milk tea. I have yet tried their milk tea with red bean favor. I will make sure it’s on my checklist for next visit. 100% recommend to everyone love chilling out by the river!

Lovely afternoon at the barge, even if we couldn't go out on the river as planned (due to weather conditions). The atmosphere is very cozy and the choice of furniture, plates, cups, pots and cutlery is very stylish. I've had a lovely, simple ham and cheese toastie. The fruit scone is one of the best I've had so far, every flavour combined was just buttery perfection. The cream tea was perfect to balance the sweetness of the scone. The staff is very friendly and attentive, immediately removing plates from the table so that we could have more space as it can become crammed when all the food is there. I will definitely go back next year to try and do this while cruising on the river.

Zerodegrees Microbrewery & Restaurant in Reading offers a unique experience with its craft beer served fresh from the tanks and delicious wood-fired pizzas. The modern, industrial-chic setting is perfect for capturing Instagram-worthy moments with its neon signs and stylish decor. The venue features three floors flooded with natural light, two balconies for soaking up the sunshine, and well-designed spaces suitable for various occasions.
Zero degrees Microbrewery Review: A Blend of Great Brews, Bites, and Atmosphere Recently, I had the pleasure of taking my uncle, visiting from India, to a local microbrewery with a restaurant, and it turned out to be an exceptional experience. The brewery's ambience was a standout feature—industrial yet inviting, with gleaming tanks, pipes, and brewing equipment creating an immersive setting for craft beer enthusiasts. The atmosphere felt lively yet relaxed, perfect for a casual outing. We started with a couple of drinks, and the brewery's offerings did not disappoint. Each sip reflected the artistry of small-batch brewing. For food, we opted for a wood-fired mushroom pizza, buttermilk chicken, and classic French fries. The pizza was a revelation, with a crisp, charred crust and fresh toppings that made every bite flavorful. The buttermilk chicken was succulent, tender, and seasoned to perfection, while the fries were crisp and addictive—an ideal accompaniment to our drinks. The service added another layer of charm to our visit. The staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.

I had high expectations for this restaurant based on its atmosphere and friendly staff, both of which were excellent. However, the pizza was a complete letdown. It had a burnt taste, and honestly, a frozen pizza from the supermarket would have been better. It seems that those who had a good pizza here in the past were just lucky. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming back for another try.

Pie shop
English restaurant
Restaurant
Sweeney & Todd is a renowned restaurant and pie shop in Reading, offering an extensive selection of pies made with meats from their sister business, WM Vicars butchers. The establishment also operates as a deli, selling pasties, sausage rolls, and free-range scotch eggs. The interior exudes a nostalgic ambiance with its unchanged 1970s decor adorned with vintage advertisements and tilework. Visitors can indulge in ploughman's lunches and roast dinners alongside the famous pies.
Fantastic pie shop! I heard about them from my colleagues about how delicious their pies were, and I had to see for myself. I got the Sweeney pastie and steak and ale pie! My husband and I enjoyed both, but the steak and ale pie was his favourite! Full of flavour with perfect pastry! Will be coming back to try the other pies. My only regret is that I haven't visited sooner.

Gotten pies to take away from here a few times, today I sat in with some friends visiting from the US, we all loved the pies. Recommendations are the Five Nations, the Lamb & Mint, and the Venison & Boar. The pork pies are pretty good but would recommend their other pies over them.

Upon arriving, you're greeted by a nice lady at the fridge counter where you can buy pies for takeaway. These are about £5 each and a decent size. But if you casually walk towards the back, you'll find a large seating where time has stood still - giving victorian Coach House meets Westend pub. It was a bit unclear how things work, but I overheard that there is table service. We arrived about 12-1, and the pies were a bit limited due to cooking new batches, but it wasn't a big issue. The pies are £10 when dining, which is steep jump from a take-away, we ordered chips (these are home made from fresh potato) and you'll get a bowl of chips, we also ordered gravy and two pies. Refreshingly, there is no service charge, which I think was fair given the markup and ultimately little service needed or given (not that it was bad). Would I return? Yes, it's quirky, cool and decent quality. We also got some to take home. I wish the pies were heated in the oven when eating in, rather than a microwave to keep the bottom of the pastry crisp and not a bit harder when cooler, but It didn't majorly cause taste issues. It is worth a try and support an independent business.

A must do tradition in Reading is visit Sweeney & Todd for one of their amazing pies. A great meeting place for catching up with friends as well! The pies are delicious and come in a wide range of choices, with veggie options available. My personal favourite is steak & stilton but there are so many options to choose from!

I absolutely love this place! Their pies are amazing - I always travel miles just to get them because I honestly haven't had better pies anywhere else. Me and my partner really appreciate that it's a friendly, family-run business where the staff actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to their products. Can't wait to come back!

We had been really looking forward to eating here as the food had been amazing. What a disappointment. The pie filling was ok, but the pastry on the top could not be cut with the knives and fork. The bottom of the pies were not cooked properly and when I asked, I was told the vegetarian pies didn’t have lard so that was what they looked like. Not true, the picture is the other pie that was a steak and mushroom pie and the bottom was the same. We were charged £10 per pie and so totally not worth it. We have had amazing pies in the past. Not this time. Will not be making the special trip again.

The extensive wine and beer list adds to the appeal of this independent establishment, which prides itself on its love for quality food and drink. Visitors have raved about the fish and chips, described as the best in Reading, while others have praised the attentive service and romantic atmosphere.
Food omg. Service, waiter people were very nice polite and on the ball. Talk to them for tailored service. Food, I ordered beef starter and liver main course. The meat was selected very well, it was tender, fell apart under the fork and dissolved in the mouth. I was very pleased the food was tasty and sauces a nice flavour. The table next to mine mentioned it was too noisy inside, but I disagree. The place was full of life and fun. I enjoyed my stay here and will probably visit again another time.

Wow. What an amazing place. I would describe this place as “private elegance”. Great atmosphere with amazing food, presented in a classy way. No noise or disturbance from the usual worldly things. The staff are all very friendly. You feel important and recognised. Prices are very reasonable. We will be back, without a doubt. Thanks for an amazing evening. Lara, you were amazing and deserve a special “shout-out”.

Visited for the first time last weekend, and absolutely loved the food and the vibe! The part-time waitress we had was amazing and a lovely lady that definitely looked after us! Please note that service can take a while, we stayed over 2 hours for a main and a dessert!

We had dinner in Valpy Street Bar & Bistro and I personally loved the experience. I ordered seafood clam chowder (£21) and it’s divine! I didn’t need to add salt and pepper as it’s already perfect. My friends had beef and said that theirs are so soft. I had sticky toffee pudding - a classic for dessert and I’m glad it’s not too sweet. The staff members were also very nice, smiley and accommodating. The ambiance of the place is very cosy and it’s perfect for intimate dinner.

Royal Tandoori is a spacious Indian restaurant adorned with colorful paintings and offering a variety of regional Indian dishes. The menu features distinct and full-bodied curries, as well as a weekday set lunch at an affordable price. For those seeking adventure, the street food menu offers small dish options for sharing. The restaurant is known for its quality spectrum and extensive menu, including favorites like Jeera Chicken and various naan bread options.
We visited after looking at some google reviews and comments on maps, and we were amazed at Royal Tandoori. We tried their veg and non-veg lunch full course meal with chicken tikka starters and lamb korma which was tasty and served enough for a single person. Plus their veg starters like samosa were good too. A nice place to have lunch or dinner with a pleasant atmosphere, good for small groups with friends or family.

We have visited this restaurant many times over the past 10 years. The last visit was in May 2025. It is our go to restaurant for special celebrations and have had many great evening meals there. More frequently, we tend to go for lunch as they have a special lunch time menu and a set meal at a very reasonable price. They also do a generous thali which is amazing VFM. There are many restaurants in Reading but something keeps pulling us to this one when we just fancy a curry. It tends to be very quiet for lunch but on popular days very busy in the evenings. In fact we have tended to book a table if visiting in the evening.

Sushi restaurant
YO! Reading House of Fraser is a vibrant Japanese chain eatery where you can enjoy a variety of gluten-free options, including miso soup, sashimi, nigiri, hand rolls, and desserts. The menu features Japanese favorites like teriyaki, ramen, and sushi. The restaurant's conveyor belt system adds an element of fun to the dining experience.
I really like Yo Sushi as a brand. The concept and aesthetic of the places really appeals to me, and the food is always to a good standard. This one is as fine as any other of the chain. Never been to one located in a department store, but the quality of food and the service was not diminished for this. You always risk spending a bit more then you intended at a Yo Sushi. There is so much on offer passed on front of you on the conveyor belt, that it is hard to resist. Also, keeping a track of your tab with their pay the the bowl system can be a bit tricky. Saying this though, I are very well, and always do here, and sent no more the £25. A good place to stop off for some quick food after a shop.
Thomas N — Google review
This is a nice sushi place with a nice staff. It’s worth the visit for the fun. The food service is really agile and fast. Good selection and variety for all tastes. They also have a section for vegetarian which is a really nice touch. Portions are not as great as other sushi places but it’s worth for the price. The desserts look nice as well with good variety. It’s rare to see mochi balls in the menu, but they have a few three to choose. Worth the visit.

Very tasty vegan sushi, which was surprisingly filling. I love the novelty of the conveyor belt, too. I would recommed the spicy vegetable rice.
Zef W — Google review
A little sterile as a restaurant but food was served quickly and the conveyor system worked perfectly - except when someone hadn't read the memo on how the light system worked and nabbed one of my dishes. Swiftly resolved by the excellent server, who also gave me the chance to show my chopstick prowess. On seeing I am a complete spanner with them, he got me a fork! Top man! Only complaint would be portion sizes, the thick cut sashimi was anything but and at nearly £7 not good value.
Neil W — Google review
Love the sushi in Yo and service always good. It was quite cold in January in the restaurant so my only issue that sitting in jacket in the restaurant is not too comfortable. 🙃
Judit M — Google review
Not bad. Service is obviously fast, and staff are helpful and keen. Quality is fine, however taste on a lot of dishes is quite bland compared to a lot of other sushi places I've visited. You have to go for something "hot" to get much in the way of flavour. Quite expensive too, though not on a dish by dish basis, more because dishes themselves are quite small and so you end up working your way through quite a lot. Price didn't match with the quality. I'd go again, but mainly for the novelty.

Clay's Kitchen & Bar is a highly influential restaurant in Reading, making it to the 2019 list and receiving glowing reviews. The restaurant has recently crowdfunded a move to a larger space, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Clay's Hyderabadi Kitchen offers intensely spicy Indian food with aromatic spices that pack a punch. The menu features unique dishes like venison and liver, providing an explosion of flavors.
We visited for the first time in a while and it was so delicious it left us wondering why we had left it so long! Incredible food and great ambience and service in the restaurant. I had the Manchurian Gobi and Indrahar with beetroot roti and they are all fab. It was the perfect setting to enjoy the food and chat with the right volume of music and friendly staff. Highly recommend and we shall be back again before too long.

Disappointing Experience at Clays - More Hype Than Substance We visited Clays in Reading on a Friday evening, hoping for a standout Indian dining experience given its generally positive reviews. Unfortunately, our visit was largely disappointing, marked by incredibly slow service and food that failed to live up to the premium price tag. Upon arrival, despite the restaurant only being at half capacity, we were left waiting a full 10 minutes before anyone approached our table to take a drink order. This set the tone for the rest of the evening. Our starters, once ordered, took a further 20 minutes to arrive. The most frustrating wait, however, was for our main courses, which took an astonishing hour from the time of order. When we enquired about the delay, we were simply told that the restaurant was "busy" and the kitchen was "overflowed" – an explanation that felt disingenuous given the visible half-empty dining room. The food itself was underwhelming. While perfectly edible, it tasted remarkably similar to what you'd expect from an average Indian takeaway, yet at three times the price. We had hoped for something more distinctive and refined, but it simply didn't justify the cost. We found the restaurant quite noisy, perhaps unlucky enough to be seated next to a loud table of four gentlemen. Overall, our experience at Clays left us thoroughly underwhelmed. For the prices charged, the slow service and ordinary food were simply not acceptable. Reading boasts numerous other Indian restaurants that offer superior food and a better dining experience, often at a more reasonable price point. I would recommend exploring other options before settling on

Clays Kitchen and Bars is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. The service was friendly and attentive throughout — you can tell the staff genuinely care about the customer experience. A special shoutout to the boss, who not only runs a tight ship but also brings a lot of personality and humour to the place. He had us smiling the whole evening! Now, the food — wow. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with rich, traditional flavours. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and it’s clear that a lot of thought and passion goes into the cooking. It’s on the pricier side, yes, but every bite justifies the cost. This is not your average night out — it’s a proper culinary experience. Whether you’re coming for a special occasion or just want to treat yourself, Clays delivers something memorable. It’s rare to find a place that combines tradition, quality, and character so well. A definite must-visit, and I’ll 100% be coming back again soon.

I arrived here by pure chance. Hungry. Was a little breath taken by the price, but it is 2024. My breath was taken away again by the superb food. Paneer biriyani so delicious. I love the special idea they have too. Each month they showcase food from a different Indian state. Great shout. I’ll be back!

A beautiful modern restaurant offering a contemporary take on classic Indian dishes. You come away feeling like you've had a premium experience but very reasonably priced. It's unlike your standard Indian restaurant experience.
Caboodle T — Google review
This is an absolutely outstanding restaurant. Don’t go expecting the ‘run of the mill’ Indian restaurant menu, this is far better and far more authentic. The food choices are outstanding - we had prawn starter, lamb biryani and the ‘wedding’ chicken curry. The food is sensational and the staff are incredibly attentive. The food and staff are absolutely 10/10. (Certainly not a grumble but in time it would be great if the restaurant could develop a slightly more cosy atmosphere 👍)

Hope & Bear is a charming and stylish traditional pub located on London Road, just a 15-minute walk from Campus. It offers an inviting atmosphere with its well-tended garden and traditional interior. The venue provides an airy and spacious restaurant while maintaining the intimacy of a classic pub. With an open fire during winter and two immaculate beer gardens, it caters to guests year-round. The adventurous pub menu features classics like fish and chips, burgers, steak, and a delicious Sunday roast.
A fantastic pub that hits all the marks - great decor, brilliant range of delicious food and drink and really fantastic service. There's not a lot of places these days where the staff genuinely care, and are all so friendly. Can't recommend Hope & Bear enough!
Alice H — Google review
It's not bad, but it's VERY student orientated. The beer selection is pretty good the food is pretty good. However if you walk to the bar at the same time as 15 students walk in the staff will always serve the 15 first. This is frustrating as the 15 don't even know what they want to drink. I understand that they cater for the students and that they are a big part of their revenue but surely staff maintaining and managing orders in turn should be a thing? A lot of these big groups only stay for 1 drink then go on to the next pub. In short you won't get served in turn if a big bunch of students turn up. This means you'll wait a long time because (fair play) they ID each and every one. Also an annoying habit they have is charging you on card before you get your drink. On multiple occasions the beer they then pour runs out and I have to make a different choice resulting in a refund needed on my card and a new amount charged. As with all card transactions the money coming back is delayed but the money going out is instant. I understand that they don't want to pour until they know the person has the money to pay for it, but this really sucks. In short. Nice pub, good garden, good beer, staff are nice but not attentive to who is next, food is good if a bit pricey for what it is.

Left feeling horrible and regretting coming - Had a group booking as we were visiting Reading for the weekend, I decided to ignore some reviews about a bad experience about service and sadly I was met with the same bad service from one bartender. As I walked in I asked if he minded if we sat outside and he told me he would rather we didn't as it meant they had to bring food out and he stared me down leaving me feeling very belittled for wanting to sit outside. He made me feel like it was the most inconvenient thing and that it bothered him a lot even for a simple ask while others say outside. I decided not to deal with him any more and let my husband do the ordering. He then did not bring our food out and we sat waiting while the rest of my party finished their food. He approached us and said he had no evidence of our order despite my husband having his email of order and having paid over £100 and having waited patiently for our food. He then raised his voice at us and my husband decided to go in to get our food which had been sitting under heat for about 20/30 mins. I wish this was the end. As my brother went in to order the same guy was sitting on a gambling/gaming machine and ignored him. I am not the person to review this type of experience and I generally accept that some people have bad days and may be rude but this goes beyond okay as from the second I walked in I was half afraid to meet him again. The only redeeming thing was the food and other bartenders who apologize for this guy. So thank you to the chef and those who have to work with the other employee The person in question had tattoos and dark black hair. I can see reviews about him already and would have management seriously consider his employment as I will not be returning and will not be recommending the place to anyone.

The Hope and Bear is the local of my dreams. Great drinks with a massive range, especially their Gin. The food has always been incredible, their lunches are well priced and their evening meals and roasts are good value for money as the standards they are serving at go above and beyond. There is parking too if that's an issue and it has great bus links. I would highly recommend coming here.
Jack J — Google review
Decent food, can't say the same about the service. One bartender somehow blamed us for the food not arriving for 40 mins, refusing to take responsibility. Then we go into the bar and all of our meals are just sitting there on the counter ready to go. This guy has been mentioned in other reviews, I'm sure the owners know who I'm talking about. Sadly very poor service means we won't be returning anytime soon.

Juicy, full of flavour, and cooked just right. I went for the "Prince Charles is Overrated" and it did not disappoint—rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced with the toppings. The sides were also spot on—crisp, golden fries and the mac ‘n’ cheese bites were addictive. Delivery ordered on Friday night, busy day so the order took 1+ hours to arrive. Burgers Donnie J Trump and Triple B were good and tasty, the cheese and bacon fries were not too bad, they sent the cheese on the side but the cheese sauce was too rich for me. Price was okay, ~12GBP per burger. In my opinion, there are better options around but it was good experience trying it. The packaging for delivery is awesome, well designed.

Ordered while at Phantom Brewery and delivered to the table by the bar staffs. I’ve had 7bone at Camberley and it’s spot on every time. I got same order I usually order Kim jong wings and chicken Rasta burger. Burger spot on but the wings were disappointing - they weren’t coated in the sauce so lacked abit of taste. Overall still good, nice little place, be warned it’s not a proper restaurant. It’s a big warehouse unit with couple of bars and seating area. You order your food by an app and the bar staff serve it to you like deliveroo lol.

One of the worst burgers thats ever been delievered to me, I ordered the truffle mushroom burger, have a look at the picture of what they put on their website up against what was sent to me, a sad disappointment of a burger, smallest patty ive ever seen and for that price pretty disgraceful, no truffle sauce no filling as described

I have mixed feelings about this one, value for money was there, good size servings and a pretty comprehensive menu. I think they are short handed in the kitchen, our fries and wings (tasted a bit off) were warm at best, biggest peev. My burger Prince Charles wasn't bad but a lot happening there, my wife ordered Peter Green, it was pretty basic with only the patty to taste. Dirty fries were warm and nothing to write home about, I mean either it's the fact that they are short handed or something else, I don't think I'm going back there, I am comparing this with Gordon Ramsey's burger place in Reading, I'd say Street Burger wins by a country mile as the taste was unique and well executed. Sorry guys! Good enough bunch of servers, I did leave a tip but overall disappointed.

Lovely place, good food, me and my friends had the tasting menu. The food was good. All cooked well and compliments to the chef. Service was on point there when we needed and was very observant of our table. Atmosphere was a nice quiet place but seemed empty. It was a 19:00 ( 07:00 ) reservation and lasted until 21:30 ( 09:30 ) on a bank holiday on Friday. Overall service was good, food was good. We paid £450 for 4x tasting menues. 1 bottle of wine and 2 x cocktails. Price was a little expensive but the food was good so can't complain. I do recommend for a nice dinner out in Reading for a celebration or a fancy dinner.

Came for afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. I must give props for the availability of a vegan afternoon tea menu in the first place, and the food was mostly great. Unfortunately our first choices of teas weren’t available (neither of them), and it was definitely the noisiest afternoon tea experience I’ve ever had 😅 Not the fault of staff, but it definitely affected our experience.

The venue is beautiful, exuding an air of class and importance. During our visit it was very quiet though, and the place felt empty, but this is most likely due to the date and time of our visit, which was in the early afternoon during the week. Presentation of food was 10/10, but the quality was lacking, especially considering the high prices on many of the items. Our steak dish arrived severely overcooked (ordered it Medium), and a bit cold, but tasted good. The scallop starter we ordered was excellent. Well balanced flavours and perfect presentation. The staff were very friendly and acted professional. They also did a bit extra for us, which should be commended, as the nature of our visit was a celebration. If you have the money to waste and want to impress, this place should be considered. But if money is tight, but you still want quality and class, there are other places very close by which might be better for you.

We had a nice afternoon tea — the food was nice and the staff, especially the girl who served us, were warm and friendly, which really added to the experience. However, the overall atmosphere was let down by the cleanliness of the space. The walls were noticeably dirty, and the AC unit was in a similar state, which isn't ideal for a dining or tea setting. A little TLC could really elevate the place and bring it up to the standard the service deserves.

Took my Nan for afternoon tea for her birthday, she absolutely loved it and so did I, food was fantastic, especially the cakes and scones, sandwiches were nice but nothing amazing, the service was very good and the staff were so friendly, nice atmosphere and the piano music was a lovely touch. It was definitely good value for money and would highly recommend.

My husband chose this place to celebrate our anniversary this year, he saw they serve oysters (and I love oysters). They don’t serve oyster any day but Fridays and Saturdays, unfortunately. We tried to order some with not success so worth noting here. After few seconds of disappointment we decided to choose our dishes and we both made great choices. Sophisticated dishes e great taste. They did offer a complimentary starter with bread and herb butter which was great and another started which I don’t remember the name but not for our taste. For desert, his choice was the dark chocolate option and he loved it. To conclude we had a nice “Happy Anniversary” message. Service was good. It was great choice for our anniversary celebration, thanks.

Tutu's Ethiopian Table Limited, located within the RISC Global Cafe, offers an authentic taste of Ethiopia in Reading. Tutu Melaku, originally from Addis Ababa, has been serving her traditional Ethiopian dishes since 1991. The menu features a variety of meat and vegetarian stews served with injera, a spongy pancake ideal for soaking up the rich flavors. The restaurant also offers a selection of baguettes and snacks.
Really enjoyed a last minute need for some yummy food whilst in Reading! As vegetarians and with Indian palate, the injira and 3 veggie curries (2x lentil, 1x cabbage) were very tasty, fresh and felt home made. Wish there was more injira and ended up ordering extra portion. 2 friendly ladies looked after us too .
Pramal L — Google review
I went to the park with my son and thought it would be a nice change to try some food from Tutu's, the front lady who is old and has short hair wasn't very friendly. The lady cooking was smiley, I ordered the chicken curry with sourdough bread and also the lemon cake. All very nice but as I mentioned to them also, there was hardly any chicken in the sauce so I was basically eating sourdough bread with a lumpy tomato sauce which cost £10.99, no chicken and a small portion which is ashame because the flavour was lovely. I won't return as it's not a friendly energy and very overpriced!!

This is a lovely quaint and cosy little building residing in the middle of Palmer Park. It is such a jewel to find. A treasure worth adventuring out for. I always ask for the doro wor (spicy chicken) brown lentils with the injerra. My favourite beer is St George. Tutu is absolutely fantastic and she knows how to choose her staff. They are the same. Always come back here. You must give it a try. Tell me if you agree.

First time coming here. The lady who welcomed us was lovely. We dined outdoors and enjoyed the cold but sunny day. The service was fast. Food tasted just ok but not worth it's price. We ordered meat and rice and was served literally rice and meat with broth. It was tasty but i think it is something anyone can make at home by boiling meat with onion and spices then adding rice. A bit disappointed to be honest.
Stephanie L — Google review
This cafe is in Palmer park and aside from great views of the field and surroundings, it has some really healthy food options. We tried the vegetarian buffet with lentils and vegetables with bread and rice. The food has some distinct flavors and is quite healthy at the same time. The dine in space although small is quite spacious. We liked almost all the dishes we ordered. I would definitely visit the place again when we need homely food that’s tasty and healthy. For a family of the 3 the food was more than sufficient and we got some boxes to go.

Aaaaamazing brownies! Absolutely delicious! The box didn't last long. I have to say I was very impressed with how big they were. So fresh and tasty. Very, very yummy and the best is that I could order & collect it very easily. Tutu is so friendly and answered to my message right away and understood exactly what we needed. Spot on!

We hired Tutu's Ethiopian to do our wedding and they were a massive hit! Their service and presentation was impeccable and our guests had nothing but amazing things to say about them and their food on the day! They even managed to do sharing platters or single platters so that our guests could experience Ethiopian food in it's traditional way. Thanks so much for making our day memorable!

I like small restaurants & coffee shops! I am in the park and decided to walk in & check out the place! The inside is well decorated with Ethiopian arts & crafts, plus it is spacious dinning hall, so do not hesitate to go inside & explore it! I only tried the coffee and a home-made cake that was super delicious, hand-crafted to my taste 😋 There is a range of authentic Ethiopian dishes on the menu as well. Make Tutu smile & drop in for a quick bite while at Palmer’s Park!

Workhouse Coffee is a popular choice among caffeine enthusiasts in Reading, offering a diverse selection of flavors and strengths. It's part of a group of independent coffee roasters that have been gaining popularity in the area. The staff are knowledgeable about their coffee beans and provide excellent service. Visitors can also enjoy tempting lunch and snack menus at nearby establishments like Picnic, Shed, or the Global Cafe.
I love their staff! Been wanting to try this place and finally! They are so welcoming! And the ambience was so different inside. You’ll be seeing a lot of bean bags? If I’m not mistaken. And also the coffee…magnifico!!! I was so sleepy just before and it was a relief getting a coffee here! This place needs more attention!!!!! I’ll be back for the cakes! Oh and coffee again too!

Very good coffee shop, serving artisan coffee, pastries, sandwiches, brownies, slices, and cakes. This coffee shop has been in Reading for a while with another branch in West Reading. The coffee is very good, they have seating inside, service is brisk, and friendly. Recommended.

I was here before and had a very good filter coffee experience. Today, I wanted to be surprised and asked for a filter brew that is strong and chocolaty. Brazil was recommended to me, but it was watered down and not strong in taste or coffein. I know filter coffees that was not one that I would order again.

Having visited it at dusk, it’s classic, but a bit aged and crowded. I have ordered a cappuccino and the taste was okay, but the milk foam was too thin and bubbly. Staff is friendly

Customers can dine in or take away their tempting salad picnic boxes for a perfect lunch on the go.
1st time in here. Was good value and food amazing. Definitely recommend to friends And nice that everything is homemade on site. Not many places do that. Nice to have homemade. Friendly atmosphere and staff.

All is nice here for an independent run business where in-house made food makes a difference on the high street. Predominately healthy options along with nicely crafted coffees and a kind service, allows you to enjoy your visit. Don’t forget to try the cakes, you might wanna return for some, they look quite appetising and I don’t even have a sweet tooth.

Pub
The Three Guineas in Reading is a charming Victorian pub conveniently located at the train station. It offers a wide selection of craft beers, ciders, wines, and spirits. The traditional menu features pies, salads, fish and chips, and burgers. The pub's ambiance is unmatched and it also serves cask ales. Opposite the station, there are ongoing developments including apartment and retail spaces with beautifully landscaped public areas.
A really large, enjoyable pub right next to Reading Station. Seating inside and out. A wide range of drinks and meals are available. Service is average, and can be slow when it's busy. Toilets are large and well kept. The decor is excellent with plenty of nods to the station and trains. Well worth a visit, particularly if you are leaving the station and have time. The only downside is that it's quite pricey.
Chiangmaicharlies — Google review
We needed to feed a group of 16 people, which included 6 wheelchair users, after completing a Terry's Walkabout Tour nearby which overran. We couldn't have chosen a busier day and time (Saturday 16th August, 1.30pm). Reading were playing at home and people were congregating at the station to attend the nearby Rewind Music Festival. We managed to drag some tables together outside and got everyone a seat. The staff excelled! As the interior was rather full of people, Georgie and Louis came out to us to provide table service. Georgie was so professional, calm and advised us to get our food ordered ahead of drinks so that the kitchen could start preparing. Louis came out when one of the beers wasn't available and was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggesting an alternative. The food arrived quite quickly and was delicious! I had the Flatbread with chicken. A generous portion size and very tasty. The disabled toilet was spacious and clean (you need a RADAR key to access it), but was quite difficult to access due to the location and doors - plus navigating furniture inside the pub. Altogether, an amazing experience, considering we'd not booked and that we were such a large group! Can recommend! Thank you so much Georgie and Louis for looking after us so well - and to the chef for producing such excellent food.

On the whole I would rate as Good (4 stars). The good things were the service - friendly, warm and engaging. The food was tasty, but the portions are on the smaller side for the price charged. ***20% off food voucher in Jan when you register for the wifi*** two cocktails for £15 (5-9pm weekdays) is not bad, but again as you can see from the photos, small glasses containing mostly ice. Plenty of plug sockets to charge devices and an interesting building which was previously used as the station, with a few historical things on display which I like. So on the whole a pleasant place to eat and drink, but on the pricey side unless you can take advantage of the offers.
Joe A — Google review
i ordered the all day breakfast (spent £20 on it) and to be brutally frank it was ridiculous… the beans came in a pot the same size as the ketchup.. it was like a portion for ants. the hash browns i paid £3 extra for were just 2 frozen mini hash browns. the flavour was bland and the plate was mostly just chips as those are the cheapest thing on the plate. it’s a let down as this place has been good for food in the past. not impressed at all and not once was i asked if the food was ok. beans pot shown next to my finger and ketchup dish for scale… i mean come on.. that’s absolutely crazy if you want all day breakfast head onto richfields cafe ( not far to walk to ) as they are much more reasonably priced and will make you a fresh homemade hasbrown (twice the size of those 2 frozen ones) for only £1 extra

We booked the Firefly Cellar Bar, under the Three Guineas, for our post-wedding party and couldn’t be happier with how our event went! The venue is a true hidden gem in Reading and the perfect space if you’re looking for something a bit different but still central and easily accessible. The food was fantastic, and service was top-notch. A huge shoutout to Bethany, Kelly, and the team for being so accommodating and providing a great experience from start to finish! We wouldn't hesitate to book here again.
Emily W — Google review
A lovely pub with a great choice of drinks but at £8.25 for a gin and tonic I won’t be back also I did ask for the cheapest Gin! I came here in September and was charged £10 for a large Rose wine. It’s a captive audience as outside the station but way to expensive the last two visits have put me off coming back as it’s so expensive. I meet friends and family regularly in Reading and often use this pub but needless to say I can’t afford to anymore way to over priced sadly!
Charlotte S — Google review
Booked lunch here as convenient location for family to meet from different parts of the country. Pub side has security on entrance and was very busy - queue for bar 5 or 6 deep, back to the door and outdoor seating full. Our table was reseeced with a chalkboard, claiming 'cash only', alongside menus with online ordering and payment. Saw no staff for 20minutes, so used QR code to order. Music was suddenly turned up loud, so no chance of conversation with family. This was at 1pm on a Saturday and request for volume to be reduced ignored. Young male staff member served online order, was friendly but looked stressed and nervous. One burger was ordered without toppings or bun (these options were offered online) but was served as standard with unwanted mustard, salad, pickles and bun. We didn't bother complaining, as there were no restaurant staff around and bar staff were disinterested. Very expensive for not great service. Small portion of Shepherd's Pie was £20 and cheeseburger £18.50. Food was okay but nothing special for the price. Okay for food close to station, if you don't mind the cost, but would not recommend or visit again.
Caroline L — Google review
Conveniently located to Reading station, it is an ideal spot to start and end any beer adventure in Reading. I sure used it. Nothing mind blowing on tap but the lines were clean and they had some of the good basics - engine and draught. Friendly bar staff. Great outdoor area. Clean bathrooms. I hear it’s an ideal spot to be when matches are shown on the big digital sign board in front of the station too.

Shed is a charming cafe located in an old forge with exposed brick walls, offering gourmet sandwiches, soups, coffee, and cakes. The place celebrates the concept of alternative workspaces by exploring mini garden offices set in lush surroundings. Sheds are seen as simple yet inventive spaces that can be personalized like the follies built by aristocrats in the 18th century. Shed is conveniently situated near Reading Station and serves a variety of wraps, paninis, homemade soup, and sandwiches.
We love this spot and come regularly for the chicken 1 sandwich. Their bread is bar none and the owner/manager is very kind. The coffee is also very good, maybe the best in Reading. My only complaint is that the upstairs can get a bit stuffy.

Our recent visit to Shed for breakfast and brunch was truly delightful. The establishment, known for its breakfast and lunch specialties, impressed us with both its quality food offerings and its inviting atmosphere. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by an ambiance that beautifully blended rustic charm with modern touches, reminiscent of a cozy rural home. The interior design achieved a perfect balance between the old and the new, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment ideal for a relaxed meal. The quality of the food was exceptional. We chose sandwiches and toast, and were pleasantly surprised by the meticulous preparation and exquisite flavors of each dish. It is clear that the restaurant takes great care in offering a high-level culinary experience, with carefully selected ingredients and well-crafted flavor combinations. One of the most charming and distinctive features of the restaurant is its table assignment system. Instead of traditional numbers, each table is identified with animal figures. This unique touch adds an element of originality and makes the dining experience more memorable and enjoyable. The staff at the restaurant stood out for their friendliness and professionalism. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles and a service-oriented attitude that made us feel welcome and well-attended throughout our visit. The attention to detail and the staff’s dedication to ensuring an enjoyable experience were noteworthy. Another aspect that particularly impressed us was the visibility of the kitchen from the counter. Seeing the immaculate kitchen and the emphasis on hygiene gave us great confidence. This important detail highlights the restaurant’s commitment to quality and transparency, adding a significant positive point to our review. Shed is a gem that deserves a visit, not only for the excellent quality of its food but also for the unique and cozy atmosphere it offers. The combination of rustic-modern design, an innovative table assignment system, friendly staff, and impeccable attention to hygiene makes this place a standout choice for breakfast and brunch. It is an experience we will certainly repeat and highly recommend.

We recently went to the Ministry of Sound gig in Reading and stopped here for lunch… It’s a cute, quirky little place, pleasant and ‘ bohemian ‘. Limited but adequate menu and the ‘ chef ‘ and staff were both friendly and helpful. We ordered two cheese and tuna toasties and two cans of pop. It was actually a nice, simple lunch but almost £30 ( without tip ), c’mon guys not worth it but we paid and ate as we were hungry and in a rush… So if you’re cool with prices like that, there’s nothing wrong with it. On the other hand I wouldn’t go again

The Corn Stores is a stylish and cozy restaurant that places an emphasis on British ingredients and high-quality meat cuts, complemented by a selection of cocktails and craft beer. Housed in a beautifully restored Grade II-listed building near the station, it offers a unique dining experience across three floors. The menu, curated by John Sparks, showcases locally sourced produce, with the spotlight on expertly prepared meats from the on-site butchery and smoked salmon from the smokery.
The Corn Stores is an upmarket eatery on Forbury Road in Reading. I've been here a couple times now and will go again. The food is really very good. Specialty is the steak. This is a more expensive place to eat but you get what you pay for and the venue itself is very funky/chic. The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. Try the strawberry's and cream cocktail, this is an olfactory phenomenon. Initial hit of sugary sweet followed by an in mouth inversion into a rich cream. A very odd sensation but so good. The steaks are very good, if anything they undercook them so ask for a how you want it done one level above what you would normally (or talk to the staff, they can always cook more if underdone but can't undo overdone). Yes. Really cool venue. Really good food. A treat for your partner. Recommended.

One of the best little known gems in Reading. Whilst the menu is mostly stake, the enoki mushrooms are amazing and should not be missed by veggies. The wine and cocktail list is extensive but expertly curated.

Went here after reading the reviews and I must say we were not disappointed. Right from entering the restaurant, we were greeted really well and they even made space to store the 2 prams that we had. The lady that looked after us was really pleasant and courteous and ensured that we had a great experience. The food is simply amazing and I would definitely recommend going for the steak as your mains. It was cooked as per our specification and our entire group of 6 were very happy with the food. It's slightly on the expensive side but would definitely recommend for a special occasion. And great ambience too!

The Corn Stores has redefined food for me. My husband and I visited for our second anniversary as advised by Google (best restaurants to visit for your anniversary in reading). We ordered the bbq tiger prawns and beef tartar for starters. Fillet and bauvette from the grill menu, and two portions crispy landaise potato. And to end the night we ordered the torched pavlova and lemon tart for dessert. The succulent prawns was a refreshing start to my evening. When our main dish arrived our expectations continued to be exceeded, the tender steak was oozing with flavour. The steak was also cooked to the requested temperature. The potato was filled with flavour and had great consistency. The tiny bits of bacon proved to be the perfect complement for the potatoes. The mains were followed by The Torched pavlova and lemon tart. The pavlova was creamy yet, crunchy, yet spongey. Admittedly, the first spoon left me wildly confused, the combination of flavours and textures were deliciously satisfying. The cocktails reminded me of the Caribbean bursting with flavour. I ordered a Berkshire Bakewell and 10 Forbury Road. My husband ordered the evolutionist, this cocktail is not for the faint at heart. To sum it up, the food was Delicious!!! The atmosphere at the restaurant was relaxed. The staff were welcoming. At the end of the evening, we were planning on our next visit.

First time in Reading this century. The staff at this brasserie are excellent; the food not so much. The starter and main course were well presented and cooked however they lacked taste. The sauces which accompanied each dish had good texture but added no taste to the dishes. A real disappointment. I would consider going again for the good atmosphere and excellent staff, however, when next in Reading, I shall be looking for a different restaurant.

Pau Brasil is a cozy Portuguese-Brazilian deli-cafe located just a short drive or a 15-20-minute walk from the town center. The cafe offers classic and hearty Brazilian and Portuguese dishes, as well as coffee drinks. This restaurant is a breathe of fresh air in Reading! The food is exquisite, like a warm home cooked meal. It's my first time trying the Feijoada (the one in picture is a small portion) and it did not disappoint - it's smoky and the meat is so tender. The atmosphere is also very nice. Although there's only a few seating areas, it's a nice quiet place to enjoy the food, your coffee, and just be.

Bhel Puri House is a charming eatery located near Workhouse Coffee and The Oracle in Reading. It offers an extensive menu catering to vegetarian diets, featuring delightful dishes such as the almost-legendary chilli paneer, Punjabi samosas, and crispy bhajia with bright orange carrot chutney. Visitors praise the friendly service and reasonable prices. The place also boasts an impressive collection of Indian sweets and 'chat' varieties, along with excellent ginger tea and Kachori Dal.
Love this place! Always amazing flavours and great pricing. My go to is the mogo hoho, Hakka noodles with the somosa chaat (if feeling extra hungry will get the chilli paneer) the heat level is just right too. Easy to understand why this is a long standing restaurant

Feels like being in a dhaba more than a restaurant with all the noise around. Ordered a lot of our favourite dishes to snack on as a group. Bhel Puri was amazing, Papdi Chaat was good too, the Schezuan Noodles however was a miss. Also, the Paneer Chilli was a bit too salty so we couldn’t eat much of it. I’d come back or do a takeaway for the bhel puri at least.

Tried the restaurant first time and had a decent experience. Dahi puri was my favourite. Price point wise I think it was slightly higher for a fully vegetarian menu. I haven’t tried many vegetarian restaurants though so I may be wrong!

Authentic Indian food isn’t just about heat; it’s about a symphony of flavors. The harmonious blend of spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cardamom creates layers of taste that dance on the palate. Each dish is carefully balanced to ensure that the spices enhance, rather than overpower, the natural flavors of the ingredients.

I have been a regular visitor to this cafe for a few years, visiting after work with friends. Behind the slightly ramshackle appearance is a great offering, a wide range of traditional Indian vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices. The quality is excellent, and it's a friendly, informal place. Favourites for me are the Punjabi Samosas and Bhel Puri puffed rice. I love the lime soda as well. Thanks 😊
Silas L — Google review
Fantastic quality, great flavours, reasonably priced. Prompt service and a very good variety of Indian Street Food. When asking for milder versions of dishes, it was a bit worrying that everything is pre-made and so could not be accommodated- query how fresh the dishes are. Limited seating area but a great pure vegetarian find.
AJD — Google review
Such a great spot for quick, delicious, and reasonably priced food. Got a selection of dishes and nothing disappointed!!

If you're on the hunt for an authentic taste of Nepal right in Reading, look no further than Sapana Home Nepali Restaurant. This charming eatery boasts a cozy atmosphere with simple decor enhanced by string lights that create a warm ambiance. The moment you step inside, the delightful aromas of traditional spices will envelop you, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. The menu is filled with mouthwatering options that cater to various tastes.
We were recommended of this place for Nepali food. 4 of us visited for lunch and we were not disappointed! We ordered Veg steamed Momo and Veg Chilli Momo, Waiwai Sadheko, Sel set, Puri Tarkari, Veg fried rice and Dhido Thali. The food was delicious, home cooked style and reasonably priced. For us the Dhido Thali was a surprise find as its a close match to 'Ragi Mudde' of Karnataka. Highly recommend this to anyone missing the Mudde in UK! Will definitely visit again
Karthikeya S — Google review
Service left a lot to be desired, but the food was great. We had pani pur, steamed veg momo and pan fried chicken momp to start. Sadly the veg momo had paneer which we didn't know until it came, meaning I couldn't eat them. However they were devoured by my companions. Then we got 3 thalis. 2 chicken and 1 veg. A nice variety and meant we could try a little of everything. Can't compare to other Nepalese places in oxford as this was the first one we tried. If service was better/friendlier/faster it'd be a full 5 stars Prices were reasonable. We would all return.
Lauren W — Google review
Our go-to place for a comfort Nepalese meal. Their soups with momos and the Pani Puri are fantastic. I would recommend.

Tried Nepalese here for the first time this weekend- very tasty, very spicy! Momo is delicious

Had a great time. Plenty of Nepali dishes and Amazing taste. Space is quite congested however, service is great . Reasonable price. Recommended if you want to taste variety of Nepali dishes.

Honestly, the staff on front of house is so rude and not even know the meaning of customer service. The worst part is we received the food which has been added with expired items it seems. We ordered Chatpate and the quality of the food was disastrous. I post this here because no one should be facing this experience again, at least they would check review and go to that restaurant. Also, if there is a management team exists, they can train the front of house lady staff, food quality and store experience. Decided to go again there if the staff got a proper training on customer service or a better hiring.

BrewDog Reading is a no-nonsense chain bar that focuses on craft beers, including regular guest brews. Located on Castle Street in Reading city center, it offers affordable burgers, salads, and sharing plates in an industrial-chic space. The menu features options like the Patriot burger and also hosts Vegan Mondays with 2-4-1 deals on vegan and veggie mains.
We went to beer school here! I admit I wasn't a big fan of BrewDog beers before this but after an afternoon tasting some of their more interesting beers, eating copious amounts of cheese and chatting beer with the very knowledgeable and fun staff, I have definitely come around on the brand - some of their beers are delicious and they put a lot of thought into them. Beer school was a lot of fun and the best looks good as well - lots of guest beers and the menu looks good too. It's definitely a good place for beer nerds and anyone who appreciates a wider selection of beverages.

The food was great and the team were very helpful. I went for the Punk Day promotion and it appears that once again the systems were not working or updated properly to support Punk Day and so there was a lot of confusion and queuing for what was a very quiet pub at the time. So - great food, nice atmosphere, good service from the humans, just sort the IT!

Wing Wednesday - The new cauliflower coating wings are not an improvement. Either running in oil or just entirely batter, it's not a great option. The waits between rounds of wings for the rest were incredibly long - well over an hour and only one round. No drinks unless we went and chased them. And a Mac and cheese that had been warm once ..... Overall, not a great experience.
Michael C — Google review
We did Wing Wednesday and it was a little disappointing compared to last time - I don’t eat chicken wings so I had the cauliflower wings both times and this time they have changed how they do them. They have a thick batter (similar to Chinese chicken balls) which was quite stodgy and the person I was with were very soggy and neither of us had more than the first plate. I do recommend this deal for the regular chicken wings though as everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals - we only found issues with the cauliflower. Service can be a bit slow at times too but I think it was more cause we were hidden away in the corner as generally it’s pretty good.
Bells — Google review
The chicken wings are really tasty, unfortunately the bottomless part doesn’t really apply because we had to keep going up to the bar to ask for drinks and another round until we gave up. The servers are really lovely but maybe understaffed because no-one came round to ask about drinks or food. The two vegetarians with us got the cauliflower wings which were completely inedible, dripping in fat, soggy & about 2 inches of batter all around which was super disappointing for them. We tried to get some Mac & cheese for one of them but this came stone cold too so they gave up & had something elsewhere afterwards. I do really appreciate you taking these off the bill but I won’t be able to convince the non chicken eaters to come back & even the chicken eaters were pretty disappointed with the delays
Emily C — Google review
The place was really nice with a cool design. Service was excellent and the beer selection was great. Definitely worth a visit!

Wings Wednesday at BrewDog Reading is always excellent, done it several times now. Love the food, atmosphere and of course the beer. Staff are great and for much of our visit there was only one lady serving a pretty busy floor and she was superb given how busy things got.
Garry T — Google review
The chicken strips and dry and tough to chew, the sauce does not help this. It took and hour and a half to receive 2 plates of wings/strips on the unlimited wings Wednesday.

The Tasting House is a wine bar, shop and private events space that has a great selection of wines from around the world. They have some great wine tasting events with interesting introductions to unusual and interesting wines. It's a great place to go out for a relaxed few hours with your date or friends.
I love this place. We come every once in a while and it's always delicious. If you are fond of wine, they have a large variety of it. They also have incredible pastries and the best coffee in Reading. I would particularly recommend the lemon drizzle.

This is a wine tasting house that also has a cafe. During the weekend they have all day breakfast/ brunch menu between 9-4pm. The menu has a few interesting items to pick from. The ambience is really nice and cosy. Very different from other chain cafes or restaurants. It’s small and intimate. The service was great. You may have to wait a little bit as the food is made fresh and depending on traffic the food may take a bit longer. PS: I had the one pan egg dish.

Bench Rest at the tasting house. Consistently superb! Beautiful brunch, the best I've ever had. I brought a friend visiting here and now she only wants to visit me so she can eat brunch here! Soft fluffy eggs, amazing fresh sourdough, amazing coffee. I have eaten brunch all around the world but this has to be my favourite!

Mystery wine tasting was good and eye opening actually! I just wish they didn't use duct tape to hide the label! The charcuterie selection we got wasn't all that great but was sufficient for lining our stomachs!
Angela L — Google review
Great place to have wine tasting. Also, they have one of the best latte in town with great brunch

Had a great time, staff were really friendly and went above and beyond. Great selection of wines, but also gins too. Great atmosphere on a Friday night. Highly recommended.

Wonderful little tardis of an independent wine shop that also serves charcuterie & savoury snacks, all the better to accompany the great selection of wines that can be sampled via the prepay card wine machines downstairs. Upstairs provides extra space for the hosted wine tasting sessions that are run throughout the year. Highly recommended, as much for the laid back atmosphere as the knowledgeable and helpful staff. *Update* due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, The Tasting House has gone a step further with its home deliveries - we placed another order on Wednesday this week, and received it the same day (with the usual solid packaging, and this time some complementary beers inside the box). As always, the wine selection was sublime. Thanks again Ciaran🍷

I had a hot chocolate, my friend's had tea and coffees and food. All delicious! The food was not cheap, but the price was fair for the amount and quality. People are helpful and nice. They also have wine tastings that I can't wait to try 😄 I had a quick look on the wines they sell and they seem to be good ones. Not like other places where a cheap foreign wine is sold in crazy expensive prices

Cocktail bar
Milk Bar Reading is an independent cocktail bar known for its talented mixologists and a unique 28-page cocktail menu. The retro aesthetic and lively atmosphere make it a popular spot in Reading's nightlife scene. The bar has a particular love for rum but also offers cocktails with gin or vodka, all crafted by a skilled in-house team. In addition to being a bar, it serves as a live music and comedy venue with regular DJ performances, attracting a mixed crowd of various ages.
Wow, just Wow! Was recommended to try this place and am highly impressed. Whilst there are many places in Reading to have a cocktail, it is unfortunately rare these times to find a Boutique Cocktail Lounge that really knows it’s stuff. Milk is one to try if you appreciate a proper cocktail, created by a genuine qualified Master Bartender. Sean REALLY knows his craft and is so passionate and knowledgeable too. The venue is small, the feel and decor of a barn conversion, tucked down a side street, but only 2 minutes walk from Reading Station. Highly recommend and will be back soon!
Big J — Google review
I came in on a busy Saturday night and asked for two ‘niche’ cocktails and both of the drinks were exquisite. I ordered a rum sour and a margarita with a twist using mezcal instead of tequila. Great after work drink and very attentive staff.
Benjamin L — Google review
Absolutely lovely place with super friendly staff and a really warm atmosphere! The bartender Tom is a top bloke, and is really happy to help you order, or create your own cocktail with him. Apparently the Milk Bar is under new management following some dodgy owners, and can confirm that theyre doing a brilliant job
Harry B — Google review
Great service from knowledgeable bartenders. We must protect this independent bar at all costs Thankyou for JT for advising me on what to drink
Oliver B — Google review
Hands down best bar in reading. Always a good night. Great vibes, nice mix of ages, good choons from djs! Approachable team who always adapt things to my access needs including if dj is playing our too loud cos they lost their top end (one of my room 101 as a sound sensitive nurodivergent daddy) P.s if your drink isn’t on the menu anymore ask for it they will make it if they have all the ingredients // offer an alternative based on your preference. Keep things independent and poppin lads
Holly B — Google review
Went on a Friday night and they had a great vinyl DJ playing! Cocktails were out of this world, and the atmosphere was amazing! Would recommend the Milk Bottle!
Hugo D — Google review
We are huge supporters of Milk! It's an independent space with enthusiastic and experienced staff with amazing DJs and events every week - it has a totally unique atmosphere. (Tim the owner is a bit of a legend)
One V — Google review
We came here excited to try somewhere new as an after-work drink. Having decided on cocktails, my partner went up to the bar and waited for 17 minutes without being talked to before leaving. They were serving regulars beers ahead of anyone who was waiting for a cocktail. We’d heard good things about this place, but were very disappointed. It kinda killed our fun so we just decided to go home instead of finding somewhere else for a drink. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for good service

Nestled on a purpose-built island in the heart of the Thames, Island Bar & Restaurant offers an enchanting dining experience with stunning riverside views. The European-inspired eatery features a wall of windows that allows diners to soak in the picturesque scenery while enjoying a relaxed and modern atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for gathering with friends over dinner or drinks, especially during those warm summer evenings when the ambiance is simply magical.
Friendly Georgian lady and gentlemen who cook nice food on Sundays. They sub let the space separately, don't be put off but the poor reviews. Went for Sunday brunch, which was super nice. Great view as you eat - even on a rainy day. Fully recommend!

We had our company do here and it was fantastic. Great location especially on a summer evening.
Sam S — Google review
The venue if this place is beautifully made and in a beautiful location. It is a HUGE shame that the food is disgusting and the service and management is equally as disgusting. I've been there twice. The first time we left straight after starters and the second time we hosted an event there. The manager himself was OK but not very warm and his assistant.... Words cannot describe the rudeness that man has. Just awful. After getting a glimpse of the inside of the kitchen, I don't think I will ever dine there again either. That venue needs real business minded people who can do it justice.
Simone M — Google review
Just stopped in for a drink. It was very quite despite brilliant location?
Brendon N — Google review
We hosted an event here recently. Some of our attendees left due to the way the manager reduced his staff to tears with shouting and verbal abuse. Very unprofessionally run. A real shame as the location is stunning. We host a lot of events and this has been the worst venue a have attended due to the management.
Izzy M — Google review
So much potential! Beautiful location with great views but this place just doesn't seem to know what it is. Had a few work parties here and they do a decent BBQ but organising was a struggle and we ended up walking over to discuss the booking. We then followed up by email several times about a drinks package and paying the deposit but received no response. Luckily when we turned up they were expecting us, but this place needs a shake up. It could be so much more! Often empty and with little atmosphere, new furniture would be a start as many of the chairs have broken cushions, the same as every time I've been. Shake it up guys!
Jess H — Google review
This place is absolutely dirty. Toilets door locks all broken so I couldn't even look the door. Chairs outside very dirty. Spiders everywhere.. Honestly I'm not surprised that Island bar was nearly empty on Friday night. If you're not going to do something about it you will loose all customers. I give 2 stars only, because the staff was nice and friendly, other wise it would be only one star. Sorry, but years ago the place looked different. Unfortunately now I wouldn't recommend it.
Joanna D — Google review
People have long memories .... You have not only lost the future business of the 300 people you cancelled a pre-booked event for (with 3 hours notice) but also their friends and family. Picasso Tapas is a Spanish restaurant that serves up delicious tapas dishes. The food is authentic and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. The staff are very helpful, and portions are generous. If you're looking for a taste of Spanish cuisine, then Picasso Tapas is the place to go!
Really good quality with really big portions. Would definitely recommend if you want to eat actual Spanish food

Best tapas I have had in a long time! Authentic food and great wine. Atmosphere was great for a date. Staff extremely helpful and the portion size was very generous! 4 tapas dishes was more than enough for the 2 of us.
Joe — Google review
Very tasty. Excellent service. We had tapas and the portions are huge, we only barely finished the 7 plates between 4 of us. The meat balls are the size of tennis balls! It is a little expensive, came to £26 each for 2 drinks each and 2 desserts in addition to the mains - we were fully stuffed. Individual dishes can be a lot more expensive (into £30 and up each). Thick free bread and butter provided as well. Fruit drinks and all food were completely fresh. The menu on the website is broken - there are about 10 pages of menus, not 1. Chocolate treats on receipt of bill as well. I would visit here again as a nice treat but don't feel like dying to do so.
Robert C — Google review
Amazing food, good vibes with great company what more can you ask for? The staff saw that we where new to the restaurant so the made us feel at home and recommend what tapas go with what wines. We ended up having the Paella Valenciana and we didn't regret it one bit.
AJ S — Google review
Super friendly staff, good wine, not too busy but nice atmosphere even half full! Picks up second hour of lunch service. Food is good, we had the Tapas menu, you should aim for two options per adult. Approx £25 a head.
David C — Google review
My girlfriend and I went for some food at Picasso. The menu was pretty pricey for tapas but we though it might be because the quality of the food was worthy of the price. We both hoped we had found a hidden gem. The first thing that raised alarm bell was the cold & slightly stale baguettes served with rock hard butter. However I'm fairly forgiving when I eat out so I tried not to let it colour my opinion. We ordered 4 of the tapas which ranged from £8 - £10 and a bottle of wine for £16. (The wine was pretty cheap tasting and wasn't particularly nice, although not undrinkable, I wasn't going to let that deter me although it was low quality considering it was sixteen quid) Our tapas arrived, the portions were very generous: The meat balls were both pink in the middle whilst also tough on the outside, quite an achievement. The meatballs had clearly been made in a large batch and had been left sitting in the sauce whilst exposed to the air, the outside of each meatball was hard on the top half and soft on the bottom half. The chorizo was overcooked, and very hard. The diced potatoes and spicy sauce consisted of deep fried potato cubes with a bland tomato sauce. The best dish we had was the chicken and prawns which tasted great! Overall the service was passable, although not massively engaging, but that's fine. Accidents do happen of course but having the left overs from my meal dropped on me at the end was unfortunate. To the credit of the waiter he did offer us a round of free drinks as an apology which was a nice gesture. The final bill was £52 for two which considering the quality, in my opinion was a little overpriced. I have seen other good reviews for this restaurant, so we may have caught them on a bad day perhaps
Joff — Google review
Exquisite food of the highest quality and service. The portions were large and the food was fresh. I've spent three weeks in Reading on Business, staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel and Picasso is only a couple blocks away. My favorites Rack of lamb w/ honey. Peppercorn Steak. Chicken breast and King prawns. I have a particular place in my heart for their Prawn tapas dish as well as the Mushrooms!
Seth P — Google review
Worst thing here is the portions are huge so you can't sample as many as you'd like. My advice is get a group big enough that you can just order one of everything and then sample every dish. Have been a few times and the food is great, the staff are really friendly.
