Brewery
Stonehouse Brewery Beer & BBQ is a microbrewery located in Oswestry, known for its award-winning beers brewed through traditional handcrafted methods. The brewery offers tours where visitors can learn about the beer-making process and enjoy tastings of their various brews, including Station Bitter, Cambrian Gold, Off The Rails, Wheeltapper's Wheat Beer, and Kingston Flyer KPA. Additionally, the brewery has a distillery and bar with outdoor seating and a BBQ restaurant.
The most fantastic atmosphere, with a great choice of home brewed beer , amazing menu, and the most amazing food. Wishing you all the success with your new blend of whiskey, taster was excellent.

I loved this place, both food and drinks are excellent. Lovely outdoor space too, plenty of tables..
Chris J — Google review
A wonderful find, we had become lost and stumbled upon this stunning setting. A fantastic Distillery alongside a beautiful place to have food/drink. A fabulous Menu offering a range of different and delicious foods. We chose pizzas all round, the best pizza I’ve had in a very long time, seafood selection of prawns, tuna and smoke salmon…yum! The Drinks sell themselves, pale ales to a stunning range of Gins, of which my 19 year old son thoroughly enjoyed! A lovely, friendly and warm welcome by Joe (hope name correct) he definitely suited the vibe with his Bandana and my Son choosing Shark Beach Ale… It really is a beautiful setting with a great range of indoor/outdoor seating. The Owner was also welcoming and very friendly. Definitely visit again!
Angela K — Google review
The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. The venue has a pleasant yet rustic quality to the wooden structure. The menu caters for British and European style cuisine plus the obligatory burgers. There is a range of beers on sale all made on site, plus a cider, several gins and a malt whisky matured in a red wine cask. My battered Hake and three times fried chips were some of the best I’ve ever tasted and I would recommend the dish to all who enjoy good ol’ fish and chips. The Margarita pizza had a lovely crisp yet easy to eat base with a good range of roasted vegetable toppings.

What looks like a detached house is in reality a brewery and moke house. Great pints, good BBQ and great vibes. But the cherry on top is the train that takes you directly from the pub to town.
James M — Google review
Food and drink are really nice! And portions are very Generous. We have loved it here for a while now but we went today and found the prices have been increased to what I now believe is unreasonable. It cost me £55 for 2x burgers and 2x drinks. Which I think is too much 🤷‍♂️. It's now in the price of somewhere you might go on a special occasion rather than a quick bite with the family. It was the quietest I have ever seen it, perhaps for that reason. Another note, (/ rant) might be petty but they put an automatic 8% tip on the meal.... It's a burger and chips... You hardly did anything to earn more than the already too expensive cost you are charging!! Imagine any other industry where they automatically put a tip on!! Don't be like America!!! We are better than that!!
Nathaniel J — Google review
We recently enjoyed a visit as a family group of seven adults, and we enjoyed dining indoors. The young staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was well presented and pleasant. After our meal, we decided to move outside to the spacious orchard, which had plenty of seating and a nice atmosphere. It was clear that this place is quite popular! Just a little note — I noticed that food prices have doubled over the last two years when I looked at some old menus in past reviews. I ordered the Ned Kelly, which was a double hamburger with fries and onion rings, priced at £21.95 (up from £10.95 two years ago). Overall, our group of seven spent around £200, which included one pudding and soft drinks for everyone. It was an enjoyable experience.

Popped in for a drink & chips while we waited for the train back to Oswestry Saturday afternoon & all the staff were lovely! I was asked if I needed a table inside (they were all reserved for dinner) and I replied yes and mentioned in passing that our son is autistic because he had interrupted our conversation and the lady (I didn't get her name unfortunately but she had a dark long bob) was so understanding and said nothing is too much trouble and put us on a table that was reserved as we were only staying for long enough for a drink and said to ask if we needed anything for him. We would've loved to have stayed for dinner, but we were visiting friends who had made other arrangements for us. We are planning a return trip at some time to include the Stonehouse Brewery for lunch or dinner as the food looked incredible! There is a small play area by the railway, but not enclosed so not safe to leave kids unattended and too far to take your food & drinks. Great place & we recommended it to our friends that live nearby! It was a highlight of our short trip.

Hobsons Brewery is an impressive establishment with a dedicated team that works tirelessly to create a wide range of delicious beers. They offer brewery tours and have an inviting place called The Brewery Tap where patrons can enjoy a refreshing pint. This brewery is definitely worth visiting. The staff members are exceptionally friendly and passionate about their craft, particularly when it comes to their popular Town Crier beer. Additionally, they provide excellent service by delivering fresh beer directly to customers' homes in the area.
Great little taproom obviously selling Hobson's on draught and bottles. Staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. Great ales. Good visit.
Paul P — Google review
Got lucky with the taproom being open for a private event but let us stay for a drink. Currently the taproom only open first Friday of every month! But an excellent venue, great beers and nice setting. Walkable from town.
Edward B — Google review
According to Google the tap was open but no ,but a conversation with one of the workers after we tracked 15min in pouring rain and caught a bus from ludlow the very kind gentleman opened it up so we could sample their beers top man he was and fine beer's

All the staff at the brewery are super friendly, I love their beer especially Town Crier! They provide the best service by delivering my fresh beer direct to my house when in the area too! - Can't beat that service!

Nick G — Google review
Visited the shop on a whim whilst waiting for the nearby vets. Friendly and helpful staff, taking the time to explain the various beers on offer. Looking forward to trying the ones I bought for sure!
Jonathan W — Google review
It's a pleasant walk from the town up to Newhouse farm, and a great excuse to sample different Hobson brews that you might not otherwise see. Atmosphere needs some tweaking though, lighting a bit severe for the evening and a log fire would be nice in the winter. Light meals available.
Rob C — Google review
A great destination for our Boxing day walk! We were welcomed in despite muddy boots and a wet dog. Plenty of taster samples for those unfamiliar with our local brews. A real hit with the whole group.

Ludlow Brewing Co is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts. Housed in a sensitively restored Victorian railway shed, the brewery offers a comfortable and informal bar area where visitors can enjoy a full range of quality beers, including the toffee-ish Ludlow Best. The brewery tap and visitor center are open to daytime visitors throughout the week, providing an opportunity to witness the gleaming brewing equipment that stretches up into the old ceilings.
Had a lovely time at Ludlow Brewery yesterday! We did a tour of the premises and was educated about the roots and history of the business by Peter! Peter was excellent, very knowledgeable, personable and an all round good guy! A real asset for your business… It was that good, we called back today for some Silent Knight! ☺️ Steve&Tracey 🍺
Steve H — Google review
Ludow Brewing Company is well worth a visit if you're in the area. The bar is well designed and they offer tours also which I didn't personally experience so can't rate that, but the bar is very busy and offers quality beer as you might expect. It doesn't have the best views if you sit outside as the view is basically an ALDI car park but inside the bar is well designed and a good space.
Dr S — Google review
The best of local breweries - inside an old railway goods shed, with the brewery itself on display alongside plentiful seating. Excellent beers to drink there and to take away.
Kevin P — Google review
My colleagues and I visited the brewery for lunch and a tour and had a fantastic time. The food was great quality, the beer was excellent (you have to try "Silent Night", it's a standout), and the tour was genuinely fascinating. Bob was an excellent guide and storyteller, and we were all completely engaged throughout. We’ll definitely be back!
Katie F — Google review
Fantastic tap room with cask and keg beer available. Plenty of seating, dog and kid friendly. The beer of course was well kept and I like the fact its a slice of brewing history. Def worth a visit if you are in the area,
Zac M — Google review
We did the tour. Highly recommend. Margaret was fantastic. Very knowledgable and engaging. Loved hearing the history of why food and drink is so important to Ludlow. Great to see behind the scenes and try a selection of their drinks. Stairway is the standout!
Carl D — Google review
Fab talk & tour…. Took well over an hour. Small brewery but great story. Great talk and history of the brewery and all the intricacies of brewing ales, beers, lagers and stout. I thought I knew the difference but not really !! Lovely beer sampling… Shame i was driving. Bill was a great tour guide and resident expert. Informative, informal, funny and genuine. Great guy - a real asset to the company. Would definitely recommend for an afternoon - but get a taxi and enjoy a few beers in the bar area / balcony & outside.
Rob M — Google review
My daughter Zoe and I had a great Brewery tour yesterday while visiting the Oktoberfest event. Amana was a great guide with good knowledge of the beers and the brewing process and the samples were excellent. We left with an increased appreciation of the brewery, beers and care taken in the brewing process. Afterwards we enjoyed a few beers in the bar with friends and family

Brewery
Nestled in the heart of Shropshire, Joules Brewery boasts a rich history that spans over 200 years, making it one of the oldest beer trademarks in the world. This independent brewery is not just about crafting exceptional beers; it's also committed to creating unforgettable experiences for its visitors. With a modern brewery located in Market Drayton and an impressive selection of beautifully restored pubs, Joules has successfully blended tradition with contemporary flair.
Popped in for a tour- it was great! On arrival you get a taster of what they make, it was quite hoppy and smooth, inside the mouse room. You just help yourself to what you want, the staff are there to assist. I managed to pour six perfect pints, I was very proud of myself. The staff then talk to you about the history of Joules and how the particular pub you were in was bought in 2010. You’re then walked up to the production of the beer, right at the top. You taste the grains. You then make your way down until the tour ends at the large vessels at the bottom. A very comprehensive presentation which didn’t take too long at all. You then go back to the mouse room, just helping yourself to the beers they have, no extra charge. Pork baps were served- lush! My partner had the veggie option, cheese and tomato. It has a nice atmosphere- drink and enjoy.
G W — Google review
Delicious food- daresay the whole menu is a delight. Homemade fish finger sandwich - winner. Prices very reasonable (apart from £9 for a baby to eat a sausage and a spoon of mash, but she enjoyed it, so can’t be mad) Ale is delicious. Highchairs 👍🏾 Only downside - no baby changing facilities. Please consider a foldaway changing table - not safe to change a baby in the lavatory. Also, a sign on the door to the accessible lavatory- I was walking around with a soiled baby trying to find it.

Sunday 10th October 2021: Reserved a table ahead for 4 of us for their Sunday Roast dinner lunch in the gorgeous panelled dinner area. Our boater friends did make it in time for this to happen, phew and just perfect! The staff were absolutely brilliant, so friendly and welcoming...right from our arrival till we finally left later in the evening. We had cards on our table with a set out selection of what was available and what we would like and these were used for the staff to go and plate up for us at the carvery food area. So much better than having to wait in line and go and serve oneself as per normal in other restaurant or pubs we've been to for a Sunday roast dinner lunch, how clever and well thought out....well done Joule's Brewery,  Market Drayton!!! The 2/3 courses lunch prices were such excellent value and obviously we had the 3 course option... However, we shared two starters as well as two puddings and it worked out just superb. The two rounds of starters were "Half Pint Pot of Prawns" on a bed of salad topped with Marie Rose Sauce with sliced Granary Bloomer bread and butter on the side, absolutely delicious. The two rounds of puddings ordered ahead were the "Lemon Meringue Roulade filled with French whipped cream & Zesty Lemon Curd....wow and what a pudding! Our roast dinners were absolutely amazing and delicious and I had everything going on the carvery, obviously my plated roast dinner was brought to me at our table on a wheelbarrow...oops! Coffees definitely were needed at the end along with a wee double dram of Jameson's Irish whisky and a Jack Daniel's too. Our drinks for our other halves was a bottle of the superb Chilean "Pato Torrente" Chardonnay for them to share whilst us lads had the excellent "Slumbering Monk" real craft ale, two pints each was just needed and utterly enjoyable... A BIG THANK YOU TO KEILY, ALL THE STAFF, THE KITCHEN+CHEFS.... AND TO DAVID, your Yorkshire puddings were wonderful, delicious and made us another meal the following day...cheers David for offering these to us to take back home to our Narrowboats, you're a star and a talented chef!! We highly recommend this Joules's Brewery tap/Red Lion Brewery in Market Drayton and definitely a fantastic restaurant pub with excellent real ales, craft lager and great selection of the other drinks too... Well  done everyone and thank you so much for such an amazing experience and afternoon come evening visit. Forgot to mention that we stayed behind for the live music session later that afternoon...really talented musician and hopefully we can hear him play again here at Joule's Brewery...

Enjoyed a light lunch at Joule's. A lovely setting and staff were on hand at regular intervals to offer service or to check in on us. Reasonably priced and nice quality and a good portion size.

1. Disability Discrimination (Equality Act 2010) • If your prescribed cannabis is for a medical condition that qualifies as a disability under the Equality Act 2010, the bar may have unlawfully discriminated against you. • Businesses must make reasonable accommodations for disabled individuals. If they refused to even consider your medical need, you could argue discrimination. 2. Breach of Contract (if a reservation was made) • If you had a confirmed booking, and they refused to serve you unfairly, you could argue they breached their contract with you. 3. Defamation or Emotional Distress • Publicly accusing you of illegal drug use (when you had a prescription) and refusing to serve you in front of 50+ people could be argued as defamation or causing undue emotional distress.

The brewery provides a great atmosphere with friendly staff and the opportunity to see the brewing process. Visited last week. Great venue with excellent Fownd beers. Pizzas available from the street kitchen looked ace. A welcome addition to the Kiddy beer scene.

Made the long walk up here to arrive about 9.10, seeing as they close at 10 pm. Barman smoking at the door, tells us he's closed and done the till. Asked if we could just have a quick pint, or even a half as we had travelled some way, we can pay cash, he tells us he's not allowed to. If they can't be bothered to serve beer to customers, then avoid.

Great little place with scrummy craft ales (golden, IPA, hazy, dark) and some small snacks. You can see where it's all made which is super cool, and the staff are friendly. Plenty of places to sit, spacious, and good beer!

Lovely atmosphere with great background music. The staff could not be more friendly and welcoming and so hardworking. The food is delicious. Me and my father in law got the large fish and chips and it did not disappoint. The batter was perfectly crisp. The chips were lovely too and the tartare sauce and mint peas just topped it off completely. My husband got the chorizo chicken and he enjoyed his too. My mother in law got the steak and ale pie and again it was absolutely delicious. Great size portions and we all still managed to finish our plates as it was so tasty. Lovely views of the mere. Will definitely be back again and again

This appears to be a classy place. But is absolutely overrated and over priced. £8 for a sausage roll???? I ordered a peppered beef cheese melt with pepper sauce. it came without the pepper sauce. I politely asked for some. The waiter what's fantastic he said he would go and ask the chef. He came back and said that the chef had cooked it already in the pepper sauce. I requested some spare pepper sauce anyway it only took 15 minutes and another reminder for it to appear in a bowl not a jug without any implement to to serve it with. The waiter Josh was fantastic. The original table that they wish to place us at was impossible to sit at especially for older people. How you are supposed to get your legs into the cramped space not good.

My partner and I have experienced many a lunch date at The Boathouse over the years and we have always had great food appropriately priced for the quality they serve. I would, however, like to thank everyone at The Boathouse for my recent visit for my 'surprise' 60th birthday party organised by my amazing partner Andy Jones. We dined in a private room, the buffet was nothing other than 'outstanding' with such a variation of deliciously tasty food, of which we received so many compliments from our guests. The staff have always been extremely friendly and polite and went the extra mile on my birthday night to even accommodate my beautiful golden retriever making my celebration complete. I can highly recommend The Boathouse for any occasion, be it a light bite to evening meal or private function. It's very atmospheric and it's location by The Mere gives it that extra special feel. So, if you're looking for great location, excellent food, friendly atmosphere, then The Boathouse at Ellesmere is certainly worth a visit. Well done The Boathouse, my birthday night was awesome! Thank you all again. Jan x

Pub
Nestled in the heart of Whitchurch, The Black Bear is a charming 17th-century pub that boasts a stunning half-timbered exterior and an inviting atmosphere. Located right next to St Alkmunds Church, this delightful establishment offers hearty traditional British cuisine alongside a selection of self-brewed ales and carefully sourced wines. Inside, you'll find low timber beams and various cozy dining sections that create an intimate setting for enjoying your meal.
Been to a lot of pubs already and I always love and enjoy the feel and culture inside. I thought I won't be surprised anymore but this one is one of them. Different feel inside with lovely bench seatsand was quite comfortable. A very old building and pub with a fire place inside. Dogs were allowed which is nice. I like the decor inside and wss homey. Atmosphere loved it. Service was topnotch, very friendly and approachable and never pushy. Main kicker is the food, served really quick, at first I felt it was pricey but when the food came, serving was massive, sandwich was really packed and tasted good. My fish and chips was by far the best I ever had, super crunchy and fluffy in the inside. The chips were really good. I just kept praising it while I was smashing that one. They have their own cask ales and it was really good. Though I live far, I will definitely visit again. Only weird thing though is the parking on the road which is limited to 45minutes, which is everywhere in the place.so I guess you need to eat fast 😂
Francis M — Google review
The Black Bear is well known for being very good for food. Menus are not overly complicated and the produce and presentation good. The service is very good with people who genuinely keen to ensure you have a good experience. This weeks curry week offered a good choice of different curries. The sharing platter was particularly good value as there was plenty for two. The only bit that was disappointing was the naan breads which were comparable to supermarket bought naans. Drinks are a bit pricey at this pub though and meals not cheap. The pub is missing a log burner for cosiness too. Would recommend though if you don’t mind paying higher than elsewhere.

A lovely place. The decor was very smart, clean, and looked new. The food was well presented and tasty. I had the small fish and chips, which was more than plenty. The batter was the best I've ever experienced, very thin and not greasy at all. There is a lovely rear garden, quite surprising with plenty of seating, beautiful planting and a hidden gem on a sunny day, loved the sunflowers. Toilets were immaculate and the staff very warm and welcoming and pleasant. We will definitely go back.

I called in for an early lunch on my own. My husband was golfing nearby. I'm not used to going in pubs on my own, but I felt very comfortable. The pub had a cosy atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. I'd definitely recommend the Black Bear.

Also had outside seating area with lovely garden. Visited again this year, and the food and staff are still as amazing as ever. Look forward to calling in again when I'm passing. The garden is so relaxing and beautiful with plenty of sitting areas, dogs welcome. Aug 2023, Another great visit to the Black Bear, fantastic meal which was well cooked and presented and we all thoroughly enjoyed. The pub is in a lovely location and kept very clean . The lovely Beer garden at the rear is lovely on a good day. All the staff were extremely helpful . I look forward to be returning again in the near future. Keep up the good work. X

The theater's contemporary structure contrasts with the town's traditional charm. Nearby, visitors can explore the historic market town of Shrewsbury and enjoy a diverse culinary scene with options ranging from gastro pubs to fine dining restaurants.
This is a great theatre to work in, with a huge amount of space back stage. It was perfect for our show. The staff are all very friendly and helped me several times when I got lost in the Labyrinthine backstage area. Audiences here were very sweet and several of the young people joined in at the end with some very enthusiastic and entertaining dancing. Thank you Shrewsbury! You were wonderful!

Absolutely furious. Went to see the band livewire... They were absolutely great. Loved them... But the venue seemed to exceed capacity. No room to move... Drunken idiots forcing their way past to the bars that were supposed to be closed. I ended up leaving because of people constantly pushing us around to get past. Absolute joke. I can honestly say I will NEVER return!

Nice clean theatre (main and studio type spaces) and relatively modern. Decent seats and well organised. Same as all theatres in that there are big queues for toilet (ladies) and bar/snacks. Didn't help having 2 shows one night with same start and interval times.

Wednesday 16th October. John Barrowman was on the stage tonight and after all his trial by media was outstanding. His loyal fans were in for a treat at this wonderful theatre. Singing dancing and comedy his talents are endless. I for one cannot wait to see him again Friday 21st April My first visit to this theatre and must say I am very impressed by it . A lovely auditorium set on three floors with comfy seating and plenty of leg room. A well equipped bar if you fancy a tipple and a great view from the balcony. The staff were pleasant which always helps . Tpau were performing and were amazing, Carol Decker was brilliant chatting with the sell out crowd and singing from the heart . A good time was had by all .

Nestled just 3.5 miles from Bolesworth, The Pheasant Inn is a charming retreat set in the stunningly preserved Peckforton Hills. This delightful inn offers an array of experiences, from its AA Rosette awarded dining to a selection of handpicked ales and fine wines. With 12 beautifully designed rural-chic bedrooms, it promises guests a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
Lovely pub meal with friends. Food is delicious and menu has lot of choices as well as a specials board. As food is cooked fresh at busy times give yourself more time as it is worth it. Highly recommend the Black pudding starter and amazing Fish N Chips…

Visited solo; was recommended the Pheasant Inn... I arrived just after the kitchen closed at 8pm (note the statred time may be inaccurate). However I was still offered a table to order which was good of them 🙏🏼 I was really pleasantly surprised with the vegetable filo pie which was filling and home-made quality, arriving quickly. Not used to eating chips, these too were well made, not oily and the pie was light and perfectly presented 👌🏼The addition of generous amounts of dill was a genuine surprise too. It's quality over quantity here, but still a decent portion. Everything was well made and presented. Vegetables cooked just right, which is rare to find! Definitely a place to return to; perhaps to try the other specials on offer! A memorable experience for me. High quality pub dinner with a nice, calm ambience. There's a great outdoor dining space too. Recommended if visiting Admaston, but be aware of the early kitchen closing time!

The local! Been using the pub for many years and it’s never disappointed me. Last night was date night, and it was just what we needed. With a warm cosy atmosphere and polite staff. The pub Is always having little updates which is great to see. The toilets are nice and clean. The food was amazing as per usual. The menu is always being changed which is good to see as it shows the kitchen are always looking to test themselves. The pheasant is perfect for a date night, family meal is just pop in for a snack at lunch and enjoy the outside space. Only thing i could say is the price of the drinks but I’ve seen the same across many pubs/restaurants in Telford are very similar so it seems this is the new norm. Won’t put me off as it ticks every other box. Keep up the great work and look forward to coming back in soon😁

First time trying a Sunday roast at The Pheasant on none other than Mother's Day. Both starter and dessert were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed but the main course let the entire meal down. The beef had lots of fat running through while I'm not adverse to fat as it does have flavour, it was very tough to cut and meant that our party had no choice but to leave it. Those who had Turkey were fine as that was tender and left the rest of the table envious. The vegetables while seasoned with cracked black pepper, were mostly steamed/boiled and lacked any additional flavour where garlic and some butter probably would have been nice. The same applies to the gravy where it was quite tasteless. Service wise, we were not asked how our meal was so missed out on making a member of staff aware until plates awash with beef was collected. The atmosphere was otherwise good as expected at a semi-rural pub. Overall, starters and desserts made up for what would have been a disastrous Mother's Day meal.

Great pub. We were here on the Shropshire ale trail, loads of great choices of bitter as well as live music and a barbecue outside. I ordered 4 pints and the 3 pretty barmaids asked me which one of them I would like to choose to help me carry the drinks to our table. I chose Arrissa. Thanks for the great atmosphere.

Lovely little find service prompt we had the beef sharing board for Sunday lunch and we couldn't fault it. Dogs welcome which is always a bonus and also a Sunday lunch on the menu for them to. The outside area was very clean and plenty seats and great views definitely worth a ride out.

Saw this place on Google maps while in the Area and decided to call in for Sunday lunch. The place is in such a great location and some of the other food pictures looked good. Bar staff was great and helpful as we didn't book, but then.... Sadly the Sunday lunch was very poor and over priced. Ordered the sharing platter, meat came out on plates, and not sharing platter, sent back and got the sharing platter, 2 plates brought out, one dirty, had to send that back. Slow cooked pork very dry, beef chewy, gravy was a thick and tasted of greasy, 2 bits of broccoli, couple of slices of carrot, bit of cabbage and a few peas. Roast potatoes wasn't that good. The only good thing about it was the size of the Yorkshire puddings, but the flavour wasn't there for them. The pictures show what a sharing platter for 2 people had on it. Definitely wouldn't recommend the Sunday lunch here.

Had a delicious 3 course meal today and were thoroughly impressed by the Sunday Roast. The standouts being the perfectly cooked local meats and the creamy cauliflower cheese! Couldn’t fault it. We also found ourselves impressed with the wide selection of local gins and beers etc. The perfect Sunday Roast in a cosy, country pub!

Met up with friends for lunch, as this lovely pub was halfway between, another reason was the online menu showed several vegetarian options. (Our friends are vegetarian). So we were initially disappointed to read there were only small plate vegetarian options available. We were about to ask if they had anything else when the waitress came and offered us 3 very different veggie choices. All our food was well presented and absolutely delicious. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The cost was very reasonable for a 2 course meal with drinks and coffee.

Probably the best pub in Shropshire. Excellent in all respects. The team really made me feel welcomed. I love great pubs, and this pub delivers a really friendly, traditional pub atmosphere, a perfect pint, and a superb kitchen. I stayed in the area and ate and drank there 3 days consecutively because it would have been silly to go anywhere else. Just eaten a great meal, the chef clearly takes exceptional pride in their work, and the whole pub is at the highest standard while remaining relaxed. Can't sum it up adequately here, see for yourself!

The market's main opening days are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Visitors can explore an array of items from flowers to organic wines and second-hand books to hand-embroidered cards.
Shrewsbury Market Hall is an absolute gem and hands down my favorite place in Shrewsbury. From the moment I stepped inside, I understood why it’s an award-winning market — it truly has a charm that made me fall in love with the town itself. The variety here is fantastic. Whether you’re after delicious local food, unique souvenirs, beautiful books, stylish clothes, handcrafted paintings, or artisanal home decor, there’s something to catch your eye at every turn. It’s a treasure trove for anyone who enjoys discovering one-of-a-kind finds and supporting small businesses. The market is clean, well-organized, and bathed in beautiful natural light, which makes wandering through it all the more enjoyable. Every corner feels vibrant and full of life, with friendly vendors and a welcoming atmosphere that invites you to linger. If you’re visiting Shrewsbury, make sure this is at the top of your list. It’s more than just a market — it’s the heart of the town. Definitely worth checking out!

Cute!!! The stalls, people, vibe - perfect. Go if you're in the area! Special mention to the lady who runs the cookware stall - bought some cute bits and asked her about food. Straight away she emphatically told me to try the Thai place. I went straight there and it was amazing and so cheap!!! The bookstore on the top floor is quaint and a really lovely woman runs it. She showed me an amazing 2nd edition copy of Lord of the rings. Overall, charming, friendly, good food, great stalls. 👍

After reading rave reviews we decided to take a trip to Shrewsbury Market Hall. Honestly, I was severely underwhelmed. I expected more stalls and a wider range of products, if I am honest. This market is comparable to most local markets, selling fruit and veg, meat, bakery items etc on its lower ground. Upstairs you find more of the stalls I was hoping to find, but in such small numbers that it really wasn’t worth the trip. We bought a few Pokemon cards from a friendly card vendor, and then left. If you’re in the area, do pop by….but don’t drive an hour and a half out of your way for this market like I did.

Bought some of their gin and a limited edition PX influenced whiskey, and cold brew coffee liqueur, all surprisingly decent and will continue to enjoy their products going forward.

We visited Ludlow Gin Distillery yesterday. After trying the blood orange and pomelo gin in a pub in Ludlow, myself and my partner popped in to look at the gift shop, bar & shop in the distillery and the farm shop. I was impressed by the layout of the bar/ shop area. We spoke to a lovely gent ( who unfortunately, I didn’t get his name) who was very informative and we sampled some of the fruity gin collection and the triplecello. The gent working was super friendly and lovely, an absolute asset to the shop. Safe to say we ended up leaving with the blood orange & pomelo gift set and a bottle of triple cello! Also the glasses are the perfect addition. Would highly recommend a trip to Ludlow Gin Distillery!

A great brewery set up in an old school with a mix of midern and old. Real ales are kept and served as they should be to perfection, not chilled. Chose what seemed the most popular whilst there Mucklow Mild £3.60 for 6% ABV! Other pubs take note. Visited with local CAMRA group and was shown around the brewery with one of the owners and a trainee with a talk on how its done. Ingredients are sourced locally mainly from Worcester farmers, once used given back to local farmers for feed. I was that impressed i went back for seconds after visiting 4 other Bewdley pubs, says it all. Will see next week when local GK pub has a Bewdley Brewery tap take over and how it compares.

I love Bewdley. It's small, unpretentious and friendly. The river Severn is beautiful and the Georgian buildings give the town it's history and identity. It's a bit quiet here as there is a one-way system in and out, but that's all good.

Visitor Centers
The Offa's Dyke Centre is a visitor center that provides insight into the large earthworks constructed by King Offa in the 8th century. This ancient boundary dyke, located between England and Wales, is now under the care of English Heritage as a protected monument. The site offers a picturesque mile-long walk from the car park and features footpaths for leisurely country strolls.
As a community centre, the venue was welcoming of all ages, small cafe set-up, with a indoor museum that will not take long to have a look at - we followed ‘Offa Dyke’s Path’ which outlines itself on google maps if you search for it - it was 40 minute walk / hike but the scenic views on the way down were to die for. Incredible
Ismaeel K — Google review
Some parking onsite. Informative displays inside centre and clear signs to direct you to the Dyke and the Offa's Dyke Path too. Beautiful place.
Boo B — Google review
Great place to break a journey, and to learn about the history of this often overlooked ancient structure. Cake, coffee and more in the cafe, as well as lots of gifts including those for The Offa's Dyke Path. Lots of information and diagrams, and a few exhibits on the archaeological sites. Then, you go outside, where there is a huge fun play area suitable for all ages of children. A short looping walk takes you to a short, secluded section of the Dyke, and there is even a small bridge nearby where you can stand with one foot in Wales and one in England. Back at the centre, some of the toilets needed fixing, but they functioned. The staff could not have been friendlier. Great place to visit.
Richard W — Google review
This is such an interesting place. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the little cafe is brilliant. Walking down the path to the dyke, we came across the river Teme catching sight of a big crayfish and a Dipper. The parking at the centre was very limited so we had to park down the road at a short stay that only gave us two hours, so we didn't actually have a chance to go on to the dyke, so we'll have to come back one day.
Judith H — Google review
Visitor Centre for Offa's Dyke - but it has limited opening, so do check before travelling to the Centre. We made the mistake of thinking it would be open on a Tuesday in the summer high season, (30th July) and were disappointed to find it closed. Never the less, we made our own way to walk along some of the Dyke.

Visited as part of the Heritage Open Days weekend with my not-quite two-year old and had a fantastic day. Oswestry station has great facilities, cafe was very reasonably priced for a cup of tea and plenty to keep a toddler occupied while waiting for the train, as well as good toilets and a dedicated baby change. The journey isn't very long to Weston Wharf but is long enough for the little one to enjoy riding in a railway compartment and look out the window. Services ran all day when we went, so you could spend longer there and go into the brewery, but the 40ish mins we had was enough to have a drink and snack in the buffet car and watch the engine run round before heading back to Oswestry. We then drove to Llynclys for a bonus ride in the brake van, pulled by a diesel. Sometimes they have a shuttle bus but it wasn't running when we went due to costs. Again, it was only a short ride to Penycarreg but ideal for a toddler to enjoy the perks of the guard's van! Really good value for money for a steam railway, the volunteers were all fantastic, they were all very accommodating and doing a great job.

Fabulous little herritage line with a spectacular main station at Oswestry. Very family friendly line as not too long for the kids. The line starts at Oswestry and finishes at Western Wharf station where you can find and excellent utilisation of a former LNER MK3 buffet coach that still to this day maintains its role with seating inside and out. This is flanked by Stonehouse Brewery - a fine establishment for food and drink. A visit to the Musuem that is situated across the car park in Oswestry is an absolute must which displays artifacts from Britains great railway history. If you are lucky you will greeted by local celebrity Mr Paul Evans inside the museum who will show you around and also holds just as much history and information as the pieces on display as he is indeed an ex Great Western Railways locomotive fireman from the steam hayday! You can pick up a copy of his book titled 'Steaming Through Life' (absolute must have if you're into the railways) i was fortunate enough for him to sign my copy. A fabulous historic Great British establishment inside one of Britain's finest towns. A must see.

Unforgettable Cambrian Train Experience! I booked the Cambrian Train Experience as a birthday present for my daughter – and it turned out to be amazing for all of us! Driving the train seemed a bit daunting at first, but everything was so well explained that she quickly felt confident and had an unforgettable time. Philip was fantastic – friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. We came away with wonderful memories and even a whole box of goodies to take home. Highly recommend – a truly special experience!

Fantastic little railway!! Visited with my partner and we had a lovely time. The ride is short at only 10 minutes but theres lots to see out the window and we loved the carriage compartment to ourselves! We travelled at 11am on Sunday and it wasn't too busy. Staff in the shop were really friendly and we will be sure to be back.

The Trust have done a great job reopening a line from Oswestry station to the new Weston Wharf station in Morda. You can take the short return trip on a selection of vintage carriages and enjoy a trip to a brewery bar at the wharf and a railway museum in Oswestry. Really enjoyable experience, the team were all excellent.

Even for someone who isn't a massive railway enthusiast, the Cambrian Heritage Railway in Oswestry is a truly enchanting experience. I was immediately struck by the undeniable charm of the steam locomotive—there's just something magical about seeing one in person, a living piece of history chugging along. The entire place is so well kept, a real credit to the dedicated volunteers who clearly pour their heart and soul into its preservation. From the beautifully restored station to the gleaming tracks and carriages, you can feel the history in every detail. It's more than just a railway; it's a window into the past, a step back in time to an era when these magnificent machines were the lifeblood of the country. The atmosphere is friendly, nostalgic, and full of historic charm. It's a fantastic day out for all ages, whether you're a train fanatic or, like me, just appreciate a slice of well-preserved heritage. A must-visit if you're in the Oswestry area!

Considering the short period of time this line has been operating they've done really well. The staff are very friendly and happy to answer any questions. The station building at Oswestry is impressive and confirms the grandeur of past times. The line is just short of 2 miles. Weston Wharf station at the end of the line has a brewery next door which serves fine ales and bar meal food. All in all well worth a visit for families and railway enthusiasts.

Nestled in the charming town of Ellesmere, The Shropshire Distillery is a delightful husband-and-wife venture that has been captivating gin enthusiasts since its inception in 2018. With a strong commitment to love and creativity, this distillery has quickly gained recognition for its range of award-winning gins. Visitors can indulge in guided tours where they can sample these exquisite spirits while learning about the meticulous crafting process behind each bottle.
The Shropshire Distillery produces Ellesmere Gin in its various guises. We attended the gin school. OK, it’s not cheap (£95 for one person, £135 for two), but you have the opportunity to make your own gin based on 4 core botanicals before adding another 6-11 of your own choice. You get a cocktail on arrival, followed by four full serve G&Ts from their collection. It all makes for a great experience and a cracking day out. The total length is 3 hours. The guys will keep your recipe on site for a year. Also because of attending the course you will get 10% off your gin purchase on the day. Include one of the candles if you do! Highly recommended. (Unless you don’t like gin)

I can highly recommend the gin making school. So much fun with fabulous samples to taste too! An amazing gift from my son!

I got this experience as a gift for my mum and I for something for us to do together. The experience ran 3/6pm and we had the most amazing time. You get 5 gins throughout the experience to try and get to make your own, leaving the day with your very own 70cl bottle of gin! Emma and Gareth were amazing throughout the day making it a personal and interactive experience along the way. Would highly recommend this experience for anyone. We will definitely be back!

We did the Distillery Tour & Tasting Experience and tasting experience, which was honestly excellent. They are a small-batch distillery and clearly full of passion for what they do, which comes through the in the excellent quality Gin they make. The talk and tour were small, intimate experiences (only ~16 of us) and therefore able to be a bit more interactive, informative and entertaining. In addition, they are very generous with the drinks as in addition to a cocktail on arrival, the tasting consists of 4 different Gins, with a breakdown of the botanicals and tasting notes. My companion was driving, but I was able to offer them a taste of my drinks and they were offered a take-away kit of gin and tonic, so they didn’t miss out. My last experience of something like this was with a big-name Gin company and this was a completely distinct experience, but a very good way.

We had a brilliant afternoon with the Shropshire Distillery. Great advice from Emma about flavours, delicious samples (one of us was a little tipsy! :)) and just a lovely way to spend a dark dreary afternoon in January. We hope to go again in the not too dim and distant future. Great value, great people and great fun.

While vacationing on a narrowboat along the canal, my boyfriend and I made it a priority to visit this gin distillery, which was a personal highlight for me. I only wish I could have brought more back to the USA. If you ever offer international shipping, please let me know—I’d love to keep enjoying your exceptional gin!
Caroline C — Google review
What a fantastic experience! Gareth and Emma are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and made the gin school experience really enjoyable and memorable. The setup there itself is excellent, a dedicated space to distil the gin and free reign to make a creation truly unique. We really enjoyed that we could seek advice on what to add to our gin but at the same time have real freedom to try something different out. We found it far more enjoyable than having to go off a set recipe that other venues usually do! The drinks flow alongside the gin school session and it really makes for a great afternoons entertainment. Whether it be for a Birthday celebration, hen do or corporate gathering this would suit many of these events due to have relaxed an environment it is! Plus if you make a gin you like you can leave the recipe on file and they can make it again for you, amazing! Thoroughly recommend going! 5***** Also it must be noted that we had a nightmare with our taxi collecting us and Gareth was extremely obliging to help us out! Hope to be back soon to distil some more gin!!

I had a Gin Making and tasting experience bought for me joint with my father in law last Christmas and with life and time as it goes, suddenly realised we needed to get it booked! So last Saturday we arrived at 3pm to be a little uncertain what to expect but open for something new to experience. Emma the head distiller was on hand to explain the process and how it works. So basically over three hours we experienced four of their different gins, expertly mixed and served, whilst creating a gin from scratch using a small copper still. Basically they have a botanical wall, with dozens of jars of botanicals so you can craft your own gin, starting with a mix of about a dozen up to 20 or so botanicals including juniper berries, without which it isn't a gin. Lots of tips and dos and don'ts, and Emma was on hand to give advice. Some ingredients you have to be really careful with quantity and others less so. I won't give the game away what you do but at the end you should end up with a hand made gin at around 40% abv and a little extra to try. We really enjoyed it and after five large gins we felt a little mellow! There were 8 stills with two people to each one so not too many or impersonal. You get to take your own gin home and you get 10% off if you would like to purchase anything. Thanks to Jenny for her expert mixing and running around with glasses all afternoon, and Emma for her friendly and expert help and advice. As I say I wasn't really sure what to expect but really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys different gins and would like to find out more about it and create their own!

Shropshire Wine School offers a variety of wine tasting experiences suitable for everyone, from beginners to professionals in the hospitality industry. They do not sell wine, ensuring there is no sales pressure, and source their wines from various local suppliers. The courses are led by Gary, who is known for his welcoming and inclusive approach, making even novices feel at ease and helping them learn a lot about wines.
The best few hours learning and laughing with great wines to taste for our hen party! Gary shared his wealth of knowledge in a fun and engaging way and the whole group had a wonderful time. I’d highly recommend to anyone celebrating, wanting to learn more about wine tasting or looking for something different to try!

We did WSET Level 1 with the Shropshire Wine School in May, and it was excellent. The course content is really interesting and Gary was a superb teacher, patiently answering our many questions! If you’re keen to learn a little bit about wine regions and grape varieties, how wine is made, and how to do wine tasting (with lots of practical elements!), then I’d really recommend this course.
Sam N — Google review
We attended the Port and Cheese evening on the run up to Christmas. Gary's events are always great fun and very informative, tonight was excellent as always. I've learnt more about port than I knew before and had a lovely time tasting. My favourite was the Graham's 20 year tawny port.

Learning with Gary was a sincere pleasure. I came into the course (WSET level 2) via an incredibly generous gift (the gift certificate idea is amazing), I also came into the course having only discovered wine a year ago, so I walked into the class feeling very out of my depth, and much like the odd one out. However, Gary is so welcoming, inclusive and wonderfully open, by the end of day 1 I felt at ease, and I had learned so much already. I highly recommend attending one of his courses, I will certainly return to do more.

We had a great few hours with Gary for my sister’s hen party! He is very knowlageable and managed to teach us about wine in a fun and imformal manner and was very patient with a group of 16 hens! Everyone really enjoyed. Highly recommended! Thanks again Gary😁

I had a great experience with Gary at Shropshire Wine School on Sunday 26th January 2025. The course was interesting and informative and presented in a way that made it easy to understand. I hope to progress to WSET level 2 later this year.

Tanners Wines is a charming, family-owned wine merchant that has been delighting customers since its establishment in 1842. Nestled at the base of Wyle Cop, their Cellars Shop boasts an enchanting array of over 1,200 wines and spirits within its unique Dickensian-style rooms. The knowledgeable staff are dedicated to providing exceptional service and personalized experiences, whether through tastings or special events.
I have used Tanners regularly in store and more recently online. Never disappointed at all. Getting married they were my obvious choice. They arranged a tasting with Erica which I attended with a couple of family members. Erica really listened to our likes and dislikes (and paid attention to the catering and food pairing needs) and encouraged me to make the day a bit more personal by reflecting this in the wine list. We were really given time and advice to help this being a great part of the day. They also provided the glasses for us (including the cleaning service). It’s especially nice when the excellent wine on offer is a topic of discussion at the wedding (and after) and I’m confident this is down to selecting Tanners as the wine supplier. Erica, if you read this- the Gewürztraminer went down exceptionally well! I will continue to buy wine from Tanners and won’t hesitate to use them for events in future too. I attended one of the Tanners Historic Guided Tours of their Cellars on Wednesday 17th September. The tour lasted around 2 hours, with a glass of fizz on arrival (which was regularly topped up!) and a bottle each to take away at the end. A very relaxed, informative and interesting evening. Plenty of free parking onsite. Highly recommended.

Tanners are a great local wine merchant with an excellent choice of all ranges of wine and some spirits. We are particularly drawn to their red collection with some beautiful malbecs, merlots, syrahs and riojas. All to suit any pocket or spend. The staff are fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to help. We will always support our local merchant and never again glance an eye at a corporate subscription based cold service.

Nestled in the heart of Whitchurch, The Crafty Dragon is a charming bar that radiates warmth and friendliness. This cozy spot primarily serves cask and craft beers brewed by its very own Magic Dragon Brewing, located just 13 miles away at The Plassey Holiday Park. Visitors can expect an impressive selection of ales, including both house brews and guest options available on cask and keg.
Really great little micropub from Magic Dragon Brewing. Phenomenal selection of ales on both cask and keg. Not just beers from Magic Dragon, but some guests as well. I had a pint of the Old Magic dark mild that was incredibly good. Dog friendly, family friendly and just generally friendly, I loved the vibe of the place. Really relaxed, warm and welcoming. I hope this new venue finds success in Whitchurch, it's an excellent addition to the town.

The crafty dragon was recommended for a visit by a friend who knows I like real ale, I was not disappointed. It is a local brewery that owns the bar and it has a good choice of their own beer plus some guests, both on key and cask. I opted to start with their dark cask bitter, a lovely pint I must sayi then had a stout off the key kegs, after they kindly let me try the 3 darks they had on the back wall, it was a dry stout and grew on me with each sip I took. I love places like this and highly recommend for anyone who likes to try different ales and beers

Had a lovely time here on a Saturday- they were able to fit us in despite it being very jam packed and the food and drinks were lovely- service took a while, but they seemed very understaffed and the staff that were working were very good- I think they could have done with more people to lighten the load

It may sell fine wines but when the wines are mostly £35+ a bottle they need to be good but had just had better across the road in Tanners for a cheaper price. Service was patchy, had to stop people as they walked past to get things. One wine on special was on the last bottle by 6pm on a Saturday and still worked out at £13.50 for a large glass. Don’t think we’ll be back.

A warm welcome from the staff, the other equally warm fellow customers and the beautiful beer. I managed to sample some exquisite draught beers, the Labyrinth stoat stood out and a couple of others, ( all of which were unfortunately not available to take away ). So with great expectations of future visits, { and a few takeaway bottles of the perennial classic, Shropshire Gold, }, I look forward to my next visit. On the Sept Saturday it was very humid following an increasingly hot week. Not able to get to the Friday taproom, quiet on Sat had a couple of pints, Nick of Time & Fourth Dimension and got home before a Thunderstorm at five-ish. Indian summer may go on a little longer and I'll order some beer. For open days, first Fri & Sat of month, see website taproom dates. An extraordinary open weekend for Christmas. Because it's December and in order to give customers an opportunity to stock up this Friday & Saturday in the middle of the month. A good turnout and, as usual, a friendly set of people enjoying good beer and good company. Highly recommended. Got there early but already busy. A good selection of new beers and old favourites. The usual pork pies weren't available but an excellent hot pie van outside called Pioneers. I had one of their tasty pies with mash and gravy and it was the best thing I have ever tasted. I will be even earlier next November and the clocks have changed & it will soon be Christmas again. Quieter than during the hot summer open days and I was lucky to be able to buy two pies from the occasional food stall present at the brewery open days. One chicken curry, the other a beef and a bowl of chunky chips. One for tonight's evening meal and the other for tomorrow. These pies are delicious and I was pleased to see them present tonight. Called the 'pie-0neers' I believe they can provide catering for bigger orders and events and The Crown in Abbey Forgate are, I believe, customers. Looking forward to the breweries additional mid month open days so I can buy the Christmas beer supplies. Tried a couple of new name beers tonight and I am never disappointed.

What is not to like about going to a brewery tap room?! The beer here is exceptionally good, staff are great, all in all a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon while her indoors nips into town to do some shopping, it's a win win! Only downside is that it's only open on the first Friday and Saturday of the month, but I guess that makes it special.

I have been a beer drinker (bitter mainly) for many of my 66 years and Salopian Brewery have now provided me with the most outstanding and excellent beer drinking experience of my entire life!!! I kid you not!!! What was I drinking to experience this? It was/is Shropshire Gold!!!! NEVER have I experienced and enjoyed such a subtle but complex taste in a bitter. Needless to say I now have a problem... I keep emptying the shelves of my local store. I note Salopian Brewery's other offerings and will have to delve into quaffing those other beers (I doubt Shropshire Gold can be beaten though.) So I highly recommend Shropshire Gold (I have no connection with Salopian Brewery other than likewise residing in Shropshire myself). Steve (Ironbridge)

The Three Tuns Brewery, located in the UK, is a historic and prestigious brewery that has been producing exceptional beer for over 386 years. It is known as the oldest licensed brewery in the country. The brewery's beers are highly regarded, with favorites including Pale and Stout. Visitors can also enjoy a pub next to the brewery where they can witness raw ingredients being delivered for brewing.
An excellent pub with phenomenal beer and food. The best pint we've had since moving to the UK from the states, which I understand is from the Three Tubs Brewery, which is a separate entity from the pub. The Pale and stout were our favorites, but all the Three Tuns beers we tried were awesome. Also, very dog friendly, which is always nice. We're definitely going to try to make it back.

Have been going to Fallons for years and very often had "the best breakfast in Newcastle " as it was advertised and I always agreed with that statement , but unfortunately went there today for my breakfast and was very sad to find that the sign had disappeared and after having my breakfast I found out why , It has changed hands and sadly the quality of the food and service has nosedived , I had a sausage that was burnt to a crisp and totally inedible , bacon so hard it was difficult to cut , an egg that still had a part of the white when I cut it open and Black pudding that tasted of a spice ( never had that before ) very disappointed as I used to look forward to having breakfast out with my family and now I have to find somewhere different . I would love to know where the previous owners went to !

A really cool vibe in a smaller, sweet looking restaurant. I've seen it get very busy and also be completely empty but staff never seem overwhelmed. Didn't enjoy the food a lot considering the price but the place itself is really nice
Connor F — Google review
If you have children think twice about going in as the reception you receive will not be the same if you did not take them with you. Not the place for a quiet meal at the weekend more of a cabaret bar which is very loud.

Mums and Dads with pushchairs aren't welcome in this cafe. You could always leave your kids outside!

When you explore Shropshire, you'll find yourself surrounded by stunning landscapes that are simply breathtaking. This area, managed by the National Trust, features charming streams and expansive views from elevated spots. During a visit in June, the lush greenery and ferns create a vibrant atmosphere, while at other times of the year, fields of purple heather add to the scenery's allure. With an array of beautiful walking routes available, each path offers unique surprises and delights for every nature lover.
Everywhere around here is extremely picturesque, and this National Trust land is no exception. There are little streams, big views from up top, and when we were there a ewe with a rather punk haircut - though she may move on! This is lovely walking country, abeautifully fresh green with ferns when we visited (June) but a purple haze of heather at the right time of year. There's parking (free to NT members) at the end of the road and you'd get some way along a rough track with a wheelchair in dry weather, but we didn't explore how far you'd get and it is somewhat uneven.

I'm being brutally honest, we did not enjoy our pizzas at all. Had no flavour and felt they were frozen.
