Carvery
Breakfast restaurant
British restaurant
Toby Carvery Telford is a beloved family-friendly restaurant known for its classic carvery-style roast meats, kids' menus, and traditional desserts. The establishment also offers an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet featuring a wide selection of morning favorites. With a reputation as a favorite carvery restaurant in the area, Toby Carvery Telford provides various choices of roast meats and vegetables at affordable prices.
Went on the way to Wales so we didn't have to make food once we got there and so glad we did. Our waitress/server Amber was a true diamond and credit to Toby. She was attentive clocked I was disabled and offered help and assistance without being condescending. She checked in throughout our meal without hovering over us was personable with all the customers and genuinely talked to all. The carvery was amazing with a choice of four meats, various vegetables, roast, mashed and dauphinoise potatoes and also some mac and cheese. we couldn't fault the carvery and the simple dairy ice cream with Oreo crunch was like a very good whippy. very happy and with the app offering 25% off meals it's a win win

Really happy the food here, I had a carvery and the food was really tasty and well prepared. Very nice inside, good atmosphere and great service A+. The outside of this Tobys has ample seating if you wish to enjoy the outdoors lol, the inside to the left has a nice big area with plenty of seating and the bar is located at the center of the place, to the right is where the food area is with condiments and soft refill drinks staition....... There is also plenty of seating the right of the restaurant.............. There are bench seats for that bit of extra comfort but if you require that then best to book in advanced for them as there are only a limited number but still plenty of seating. The decor is nice also and has a homely feel to it so again all in all definitely an A+ from me as it is a nice place and the food is really nice. Give it a go you will not be disappointed.................
Daniel M — Google review
Lacking in areas. Whilst the food was hot and tasty with little complaints (only thing of note was under-cooked parsnips) service issues let the side down. Carvery chef was top notch and chatty but the initial greeting was cold and forced, waitress was either incredibly shy or unhappy as there was no effort from her and the sides we ordered never turned up!! I get that a carvery site operates on a tight margin to offer value at low cost - and whilst it’s certainly very reasonable the value is in danger of being lost. Don’t get me wrong. Great, affordable food but don’t expect a warm greeting or attentive team!!

Decent carvery. Fed me and the little un for 15 quid using deals from the app. Excellent value for money!
Ace R — Google review
My recent visit to Toby Carvery in Telford was nothing short of remarkable. From the moment I entered, I was enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for an enjoyable dining experience. The establishment boasts a well-designed interior that complements its family-friendly ethos, making it an ideal choice for both casual diners and special occasions. The quality of the food served at Toby Carvery is commendable. The selection was diverse, featuring a range of succulent meats, fresh vegetables, and delicious accompaniments that cater to various tastes. Each dish was prepared with care, ensuring that every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The value for money is also noteworthy; considering the generous portions and high-quality ingredients, one can easily justify the pricing. However, what truly distinguished this visit was the exemplary service provided by a gentleman named Mark. His dedication to his role was evident as he went above and beyond to ensure our experience was memorable. Mark's friendly demeanor not only enhanced our dining experience but also left a lasting impression on my youngest son, who spoke highly of him long after we had left. It is rare to encounter such outstanding customer service that genuinely puts a smile on patrons' faces. In conclusion, my first trip to Toby Carvery Telford exceeded expectations thanks to its delightful atmosphere, exceptional food quality, and the remarkable service rendered by Mark. I look forward to returning in the near future and hope to see him again. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment for anyone seeking a fulfilling dining experience

Got a delivery on Uber eats on Sunday may 18th, I was order number #8F120 And for the first time I was disappointed, extremely The Yorkie was a soggy pancake and cold All but one potato was a rock hard and burnt to black which is very unhygienic Mash had burnt bits and cabbage in it when I didn't get none in my meal? The meat where child size cuts I'm also very annoyed that they have alot more veg in the restaurant and all we get is carrots and peas and PAY MORE? .
Ashleigh T — Google review
Expensive and poor experience. Purchased a carvery for my family. The turkey was served cold and undercooked. I was told it was the veins in the turkey…not sure about that one. Completely ruined the meal. We asked for a booth for our daughter for personal reasons…booth not provided and I was sat on the end of a table in the middle of the isle because of a lack of space. Massive shame. We’ve eaten there before and had a good experience. On this occasion massive let down. Attached a picture of the turkey. The staff member servicing us was nice enough and very apologetic.

Come with my 2 friends and it was the perfect vibe to finish off our day. The staff were very chatty and welcoming and had smiles all over their faces. The food was great and tasteful unfortunately my eyes were too big for my stomach. The chef was friendly and professional. We all enjoyed ourselves and we will definitely be coming again. Thank you for having us!

Restaurant
Tucked away in the charming village of Uffington, The Corbet Arms is a delightful family-owned pub that offers a perfect blend of comfort and scenic beauty. Just a short drive from Shrewsbury, this historic establishment features cozy guest rooms adorned with tasteful decor and plush bedding for a restful stay. Guests can indulge in delicious meals at the on-site restaurant or unwind with their favorite drink at the bar/lounge while enjoying stunning views from the terrace or riverside garden.
I haven't rented a room yet so the 4* is based purely on the rest of the pub / location. Incredible venue, right next to the River Severn with a very large beer garden and ample parking, not too far from Shrewsbury Town Centre but far enough away to not be surrounded by people. Definitely a drive to get there but worth it. The staff are insanely friendly and polite and the food is top tier. It's a tad pricey but you get your moneys worth with the food.

We celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday here and there were 32 of us dining and we had such a lovely time. The staff were brilliant to deal with while we were planning and collating everyone’s meal orders and decorated the room for us after I had left balloons there earlier in the day. That was a lovely surprise. The food was delicious and arrived without any problems. We felt looked after and the whole evening was fabulous.
Emma D — Google review
Beautiful views over the field looking west as my mate and I ate steak and ale pie and a burger after a river walk from Shrewsbury. Took us 1.5hrs to get there by foot from town, sauntering along. Food was good quality, tasty, simple, cooked well. Was a quiet Friday afternoon when we ate, so wait times were minimal.
Will S — Google review
Lovely overnight stay after a wedding (elsewhere). The room was immaculately presented a spotlessly clean, no noise from the adjoining pub, great views, lovely full English breakfast, sunny drinks on their huge patio which overlooks the river…and really good vale. What’s not to love?!
Amanda — Google review
Had a lovely time at the Corbet Arms. The room was great and updated bathroom. We had a great view of the back terrace and river. The staff was extremely friendly and great. Food and drinks was good. The place was a highlight of our trip. Cheers!

Visited on a Friday night and parking was at a premium . Once inside we were shown our table ans ordered drinks. The staff were charming and helpful. Although it was relatively busy the food came quicker than we thought it would. Good night out and we'll recommended.
Bryan M — Google review
A good find on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. Set in a quiet village, with just housing. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Our room was most comfortable and looked to have been recently modernised/decorated. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. There is a large garden area with plenty of seating and riverside views. Very happy to recommend and return in future.
Graham H — Google review
Lovely lunch with friends. Warm and sunny so decided to sit on the terrace. We ordered via the app which was super easy. The food brought in a timely manner and was delicious. The only let down were the two girls on table service. They were not rude just grumpy. No greeting or ‘how’s your food’ or ‘do you need anything else’ . That was the only criticism as everything else was faultless.

Italian restaurant
The Italian restaurant La Lanterna is a great find in the heart of Shrewsbury. The food, wine and service are all fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. It's a great place to enjoy an evening with friends.
I really enjoyed this hidden gem. I loved the atmosphere. Downstairs so not suitable for those with mobility issues. This small restaurant packs a punch with exquisite flavours authentic Italian food.
Emma H — Google review
Saw some great reviews for this cute little hidden Italian restaurant and thought I would go and find it on a recent trip to Shrewsbury. It did not disappoint. I had the lunch special chickpea (I think) ravioli with bolognese, which came with salad, bruschetta and a glass of wine all for a reasonable price - plus it was delicious! The Host is hardworking and friendly - attending to every table with gusto. I loved it so much that I was tempted to go for dinner but I thought I’d save it for another trip. Do go! It’s easy to find with Google maps. I also dined solo and felt totally fine.
Deena C — Google review
My first visit here and won’t be my last! We visited as a party of 6, celebrating a 75th birthday. The food was outstanding, authentic Italian and boy it was good! Portion sizes are very generous and taste absolutely delicious. Service was flawless, couldn’t fault it and the restaurant was as quirky as they come. I’d recommend anyone local to the area or visiting Shrewsbury to book yourself in here. They have limited seating, so it books up very fast, so get your bookings in early.
Kelly G — Google review
We found this place after a little searching, thank good ess for the sign posts however it fits the hidden gem statement. We arrowed and greeted by pleasant staff, a little pushy on the are we ready to order, especially as we were early for our 6pm sitting. We ordered some drinks and then our food. Cannot fault the food at all, very delicious indeed. Great value for money also. I had the salmon and vegetables which was absolutely delicious. It is a small venue, it can be a squeeze at times. My only problem was one of the girls asked me to move my bag which is fine buy it was how she said it to me, was quite rude. That's why it's dropped a star for me on the review. However, food and atmosphere brilliant. FYI- extremely warm and no air con far as I could tell and it was super hot on a very hot day outside.
Sarah M — Google review
Today was my first time visiting a small Italian-style restaurant. The waiter was very good, polite, and introduced the lunch set in detail with a smile, so we ordered lunch and dessert, which was a good value for money. So we booked to come back with friends for lunch next time.
Steven A — Google review
My new favourite restaurant! I absolutely love it here- there's lots of selection for all tastes, the interior is absolutely gorgeous and the atmosphere is quiet and intimate. The staff work incredibly hard and are very attentive! I can't wait to go back!
Rachel S — Google review
I had lamb’s liver and it was nice yet a bit too much as a main. The salad with tear drop shape peppers is quite new to me, and I find out it is in some supermarkets. The dining experience gives me a satisfying and surprising feeling about Italian food. Like the food and staff here, and had such lovely evening because of them.
Jen H — Google review
The food is excellent. But I felt only able to award 3 stars. Here's the reason why. As with most restaurants, the food and drinks menus are publicized online on the restaurant's own website. But the drinks prices are misleading. For instance, the house wine is listed online at £17.50 a bottle. But if you buy it you will be charged £22.50. And the Italian (white wine) Spritz is publicized on their website at £3.50. But you'll be charged almost double that. And if you order the Set Lunch, be careful, because it is supposed to include a glass of house wine, but we initially got charged (as in the photo). It's a lot easier to change prices on a website than to have to print out a whole new set of menus. So I don't understand why the owner has let himself down with out of date prices. Even the blackboard at the restaurant entrance was showing an old price for the set meal. I do hope the misleading online prices are just a case of proprietor incompetence, and not something Shropshire Trading Standards would want to know about. So despite the great food, the overall experience left a bad taste in our mouths.

Had lovey food for lunch. The philly cheesesteak baguette was delicious! Service was great, our server Martyn was very helpful and friendly. Dog friendly too which is always lovely for us to be able to take our furry friend with us on a day out.

Absolutely brilliant! We took our (very shy) puppy here while we had some yummy food. Staff were amazing, with the young lady bringing treats and water and the young man showing incredible patience and care. Brilliant service and brilliant food. Other customers were incredibly patient too. I’ve never written a review before but our experice here was that good I had to write my first. Thank you so much everyone involved, and we would love to visit again x

Came for food six of us part ordered at the bar and part online.... Massive wait between the orders..... However the food was lovely. Not badly priced and the staff were friendly. Child friendly and dog friendly.

Had a lovely group meal, food came out fast as usual, good amount of drinks available. Toys available for the kids,we really appreciate them there, feel like they could do with a sort out as most are broken, we always bring our own but my daughter likes to use anything else that isn’t hers. Not a big deal we are just at that toddler age right now. Food was delicious kids had puddings also again not much of a wait. Good price also. Food portions are more than enough. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Nice to be served by cheerful people.

Upon entering Latimer's of Shifnal, one immediately feels a welcoming and calming atmosphere. The level of service provided by the staff is highly professional, courteous, and unhurried. The cuisine offered at this establishment is truly outstanding, with generous portion sizes and top-notch quality lamb and turkey that are expertly cooked. The wine selection is also commendable, offering good quality options at reasonable prices. It is evident that the staff goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.
Visited for Pie & Pud night on a Thursday and it was all delicious, the portions are very generous and the food is so tasty! I opted for their Chicken and Mushroom Pie which was deliciously creamy, and for dessert their Homemade Apple and Raspberry Crumble with Custard which was just the right size and full of flavour! Can't reccomend enough!

Stunning food, honestly cannot believe how good it was. Fab veg, excellent quality steak (just a tad overdone), amazing crumble. friendly service, brilliant veg. Becky, you are wonderful. We will be back.

First visit to Latimers this evening, we were served by Ashley, who was welcoming, pleasant and attentive. Due to restricted time we were able to pre-order ahead to ensure our wait was as short as possible. The food came out very quickly and it was well presented, brilliant quality, generous portions and very tasty! At a reasonable price, considering our comments. The frontage, was very misleading and tired, assuming we had booked a table at a low key cafe, we actually found it to be a hidden gem and will definitely be returning soon! Thank you for a lovely meal

From the moment we walked in, The atmosphere and hospitality was warm and relaxing. The service was very professional, polite and unrushed. The food ( we all had a roads) was exceptional. Very Generous portions and really good quality Lamb & Turkey which was cooked to perfection. Wine was of good quality and very reasonably priced. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Thank you to all of you for making my Mothers Birthday special for her. We will definately return. Visited again today 28/05/23 and yet again the Service, Quality of food and Portion side was nothing short of exceptional. We shall return soon from Essex.
Mick B — Google review
Wow, the food here was gorgeous. Today was our 1st visit of many I imagine. Thought it lacked a little ambience at 1st, nothing a bit of background music wouldn't resolve. Service was great & we were well looked after, but the food was the star of the show. Hubby had chicken & mushroom pie followed by apple & raspberry crumble - he said both were the best he'd ever had. I had the sizzling chicken which was so tasty. The only downside was no childrens menu but our son enjoyed the scampi & chips.
Claire P — Google review
Amazing roast dinner. I had the lamb which I asked for pink and it was spot on. The vegetables especially the cauliflower cheese was excellent. The roast potatoes and parsnips were cooked lovely. The atmosphere is good. All in all a great place for Sunday lunch (or other meals).

Nestled in the heart of Shrewsbury, The Golden Cross is a charming 15th-century inn that exudes warmth and character. With its eclectic decor and inviting atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. I indulged in their impressive Fish & Chips paired with a refreshing Vodka, Soda, and Lime—truly one of the best I've tasted! The menu boasts an array of delicious options that cater to various tastes while remaining budget-friendly.
Came here with friends for lunch and the food was fantastic. I had cream of mushroom soup which was delicious, full of mushrooms, not too creamy and full of flavour. Then I had the rabbit which was also very nice and perfectly cooked. Not cheap, but definitely delicious quality food and a lovely traditional atmosphere.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Outstanding Dining Experience! We had the most fabulous evening at The Golden Cross! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a beautifully inviting atmosphere. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed. And the food—absolutely outstanding! Every dish was beautifully presented, bursting with flavour, and made with clear attention to detail. The quality of the ingredients and the expert preparation truly set this restaurant apart. It was an unforgettable Wedding Anniversary celebration experience, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend The Golden Cross for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience!

Yesterday we had the great pleasure of dining for Sunday lunch at the Golden Cross in the picturesque town of Shrewsbury. What a rare find the Golden Cross Hostelry was. From the moment I met proprietor Gareth, nothing was to much trouble. We dined in a beautiful chabbi-chic Mediterranean courtyard, which was absolutely charming. We both had the Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding, served with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and an amazing parsnip puree’d mash, the main course was nothing short of sensational. The traditional deserts to follow, were traditional in name only, The bread and butter pudding and apple crumble were put together with such culinary skill, rare in my opinion but in only a few eating establishments when it comes to the desert, the Golden Cross, being one of them rare finds. We are so looking fwd to our return soon.Thank you again.

Having been here many times over the last 10 years, The Golden Cross never fails to impress. The service, food and atmosphere make this venue a hidden gem. My partner and I visited last night at short notice and we were astonished at the supurb food and drink offering. A faboulus souffle, a delicious stuffed seabream and a warm and wonderful cheesboard were just the ticket all washed down with Provence Rosé, armangac and pudding wine. If you want to support a local and beautiful venue with FABULOUS owners, look no further. We heart you big time and we'll be back soon...... It's the place to be!! Get behind a family run business. Much love, Jamie Taylor

I went to the restaurant not to the hotel. Its always full when I walk past in the evenings so realised they must be doing something right. Wasn't disappointed. It was excellent. Lovely old fashioned beautifully cooked food served by an attentive waitress who was able to help us choose very drinkable wines. There was a friendly chatty atmosphere with other diners. The whole evening a big success.

Right in the centre of Shrewsbury. Great accommodation that is interesting, high quality and comfortable. Great team of staff who are attentive and friendly. Cute dog ***** all day long. Oh and well made food - delicious.

Lovely atmosphere and excellent service, but sadly, the food didn’t live up to it. We had the leek and potato soup, the rabbit, and the fish and chips. - The soup? Decent, but far too salty. - The rabbit? The beans were the best part, but the dish itself was bland and, again, heavy on the salt. - The fish and chips? Over-fried, overcooked, and, frankly, disappointing. For the price, you expect much more than style over substance. The setting is gorgeous, but the food simply isn’t worth the cost. It wasn’t even the price, just the food was no good at all.

Dorrington's Horseshoes is a charming, newly refurbished pub located just outside Shrewsbury along the A49. This delightful spot offers a cozy atmosphere with ample seating both indoors and outdoors, making it perfect for gatherings or a casual meal. Their Sunday specials are particularly enticing, featuring dishes like roasted loin of pork, chef's duo of roasts, and grass-fed lamb shank—all accompanied by fresh vegetables and trimmings sourced from local farms.
We came across this gem by sheer luck whilst trying to find the starting point of a walk. Tanya was so helpful that day, we decided a meal here would be the perfect end to our motorhome holiday. We wasn't disappointed. Food was delicious and service was 5☆.

Did not stay here, only ate. It was OK, lower standard than expected based on recommendations. My wife had the fish and chips which were very good, I opted for the 4-way pork which wasn't so great. The pork itself was so-so, stuffing was ok as was the black pudding. Mash potato was very good. Veg were just boiled/steamed which were extremely bland. I don't know why restaurants and pubs etc can't be a bit more creative with veg, honestly it doesn't take much. Other than that the service was great, staff were friendly and welcoming and the drinks were reasonably priced. Would I go back? Possibly, but I'd go for the fish and chips definitely. This is clearly a popular place, lots of people eating and drinking there on a beautiful spring evening, I was just a little disappointed with my meal.

Newly refurbished pub outside Shrewsbury on A49 with plenty of tables inside and out. Lots of parking behind. We booked lunch for 10 and enjoyed wide range of dishes on the menu, a couple of specials. Delicious local beer on tap. Really nice country pub catering for all tastes.

Ginger & Co. Coffee Shop is a popular spot in Shrewsbury, known for its specialty coffee and homemade menu items using the finest local produce. The cafe offers a variety of hot drinks, cakes, and light bites, including options for vegans and those with gluten-free dietary needs. It's also dog-friendly and located on Princess Street. Visitors praise the generous portion sizes and delicious breakfast bowls.
Another high quality cafe with excellent food and drinks options. Yes we did have to wait a while for a table but that’s also the positive that the place is so popular. The food and drinks were beautifully presented and the staff helpful. Definitely worth a stop to try.

Nice little cafe with plenty of healthy and tasty food options. I went with the hot bowl on the specials board and it was the chickpea curry. It had a lovely warm spice to it with chunks of cauliflower and sweet potato. If it’s on the specials board I would recommend it! There’s also a selection of cakes on the counter. The lemon and blueberry blondie was deliciously tart with a soft sponge. It was very reasonably priced as well.

Went for breakfast, we had bacon butties and the kids had pancakes with Nutella and banana. I had an iced coffee and everyone else had a pot of tea. Staff friendly and helpful and a nice chilled out atmosphere. Food and drinks were delicious. And the place is dog friendly with free doggy biscuits 🐾. Well worth a visit

A Sunday morning in Shrewsbury, looking for a coffee and cake - we found Ginger and Co. It was busy with customers but we got seated promptly and the service was quick. They had a lovely selection of cakes, with about 5/6 GF or Vegan ones to choose from 👍 They were all in the same counter area, so I hope they used separate tongs for the GF ones… 😉 We had a Lemon and Blueberry Blondie and a Chocolate Brownie, both GF and delicious. I enjoyed a rich and tasty Americano while my wife had a coke with ice. The place has a pleasing rustic feel to it, from wooden decoration and counters, window painting to some hand-written menus on rolls of paper. A really enjoyable hour spent just relaxing…

A great place for breakfast! We had soooo much for our breakfast that honestly we skipped all our meals thereafter. We had hummus toast, avo toast, pancakes with Nutella and banana, beetroot coffee and peanut butter smoothie....Too too good! We were stuffed and chuffed! 😋😋

If you're coeliac and want something more than a baked potato then I highly recommend this cafe, even if you're not they have such fantastic and flavoursome options that you're going to be satisfied. I had a meal a cappuccino and a cake and have to say I really enjoyed my experience. The staff were really nice and very helpful Parking in Shrewsbury is not an issue and it's a short walk away. I will return for more

My visit to Ginger and Co Coffee Shop offered a blend of highs and lows. The wild mushroom toastie stole the show—absolutely incredible. The hot chocolate, though enjoyable, fell short of being amazing. The carrot cake, unfortunately, was a bit dull and unimpressive. The service was decent, but a hiccup occurred when one of the cakes was missing, prompting a trip to the counter for a reminder. Despite this, the overall atmosphere was pleasant. If you're a dog owner seeking a quick drink and cake, this place is pet-friendly and might suit your needs. In summary, Ginger and Co Coffee Shop has its highlights, particularly with the exceptional toastie, but there's room for improvement, especially in the variety and quality of the desserts.

The Down Inn is a traditional accommodation that offers complimentary Wi-Fi. Additionally, it features a charming country pub where patrons can enjoy authentic ales and indulge in a delicious carvery. The establishment received positive reviews for its fresh and delectable Father's Day meal, which provided generous portions. Customers appreciated the friendly chef manning the carvery, who even went out of their way to provide extra servings.
Lovely food and friendly service. Outdoor seating has excellent views on a clear day. Traditional interior decor. Reasonable prices. Worth a stop off for a refreshing drink and a bite to eat if you're passing!

Went for lunch with a colleague. Very good and extensive car parking. Didn't see any obvious pub garden and the weather was stunning so missed that. Staff quick and attentive. Beer excellent. This place clearly has a big clientele for the carvery which was not our thing. Fish and chips had the fish over cooked and the steak pie was a little over cooked but generous. If you like 1960s dark interiors this is the place for you. Not my thing. So the interior and ambience was a miss.

Came here for a function so can't comment on all aspects. However, I can say the staff were friendly and the carvery-based buffet was excellent, with a selection of hand carved roast meats and lively fresh salads and sides. I would recommend The Down Inn for a function.

Fabulous pub, Visited with friends for a Sunday roast, we were greeted walmly by staff members and seated promptly. The carvery itself is perhaps one of the best ive had, although the yorkies on this occasion could of been better done. Saving room for desert i ordered the Apple pie and custard to top off a highly enjoyable meal I would highly recommend The Down Inn for family meals, drinks with the lads or girls and for anyone looking for a new place to try !

Nestled in a charming village, The Hind’s Head is a delightful pub that offers an inviting atmosphere and a menu that caters to all tastes. Each week, they serve three different roast meats alongside vegetarian options, making it a perfect spot for everyone. With lunch starting at just £11.50 per person, it's an affordable choice for those looking to enjoy quality food. However, due to its popularity, booking ahead is recommended to secure your table.
We were meeting friends and this was a halfway point - we were a walk in and and just got the last table, so recommend to book to avoid disappointment. This place is a gem - we felt really welcome and the food was excellent and good value. Loved the fact they did small plates for the Sunday roast, for people with smaller appetites. The vegetables were so fresh. The sea bass was well presented, perfectly cooked and a wonderful combination of flavours, just delicious! We will definitely return.

We tried this traditional village pub/ restaurant for an evening meal, after it had reopened by the community. It had always been known for its excellent steaks, and so we opted again for this as the main course. We were pleasantly surprised that the quality remained with the fillet steak. However, the prawn starter was rather bland, and the ale (Wye Valley) was bot kept to the high standard deserved. Its great to see the place open again, but some elements need a bit of work.

This was our first time here for a Sunday lunch and it was a good experience. We had been told to book as it gets busy and when we arrived it was busy but we were shown straight to our table by a friendly member of staff. My husband had venison and I had turkey. Both main meals were tasty and plentiful. And the starters and desserts didn't disappoint either. Throughout although the staff were busy they were attentive and pleasant. We would definitely return.

Went with my other half for dinner and wasn't disappointed. The pork belly was fab - nice and tender and full of flavour - the crackling tuile was an added bonus! The chicken Katsu curry was very much enjoyed by my other half, and the salmon and risotto was cooked to perfection. First time we've eaten in the pub and it felt comfortable and relaxing. The interior is tasteful and there's a log burner which I'm sure is is great in the winter. Very much enjoyed my pint of Guinness to boot. Staff were friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Will most certainly be going back again!

We phoned 15 minutes before arrival and luckily were offered a table for 4 plus our dog. The staff were lovely and very attentive and the food was very tasty, especially the chocolate cheesecake. There was a really good selection of beers, wines and soft drinks. Some patrons were a bit loud but they weren’t there all the time so it was fine. It was a delightful surprise find.

ChinniphaR — Google review
I write this review because they didn't heed my complaint. Two stars, not one, because they serve Cornish cider and some elements were nice. I ordered the vegan Sunday lunch, which turned out to be the regular roast with the non-vegan elements simply removed, and the meat replaced by an overcooked plant-based burger that costs £1.75 from Waitrose. What arrived was essentially half a plate of food. The tenderstem broccoli, mangetout, and pickled cabbage were genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the carrots were severely undercooked, and the burger — while tasty enough by default — had been cooked with no care at all. But the biggest letdown? The roast potatoes. They tasted like they were from last season — the kind that have developed a thick, tough outer layer that no amount of cooking can rescue. The potato inside was dry, lacking flavour and proper texture — barely edible. (Alternatively, maybe they were just badly cooked and reheated.) I asked if the price could be reduced, given that several components of a traditional roast were missing and the locally reared, grass fed beef had been swapped for a dried-out supermarket burger. I was told no — because “the chef had to cook my veg separately.” In short: seasonal veg, inedible roast potatoes, gravy, and a supermarket burger — £17.

La Mer Rouge is a delightful Mediterranean restaurant that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its vibrant atmosphere and welcoming staff, this eatery has quickly made a name for itself in the culinary scene. Specializing in seafood, La Mer Rouge offers an impressive array of dishes, including mouthwatering prawns and monkfish curry that evoke flavors reminiscent of Indian cuisine. Diners rave about the generous portion sizes and beautifully presented meals, complemented by a fantastic selection of wines.
A hidden gem in plain sight. 💎 My wife and I booked this wonderful seafood restaurant. I'd eaten there before with friends and wanted to show the experience, which did not disappoint. 🍤🦐🦞 Sam was a great host, kept us smiling, and was very welcoming. The mixologist did, too, and she was incredible (photos below) with her mixers. Chef made an appearance and is always a delight to speak to. 🍹🍸 The table was decorated beautifully, with flowers, as I mentioned when booking how little we get to go out together. (Without the kids) 💐 The starters were stunning, the mains to die for, and I couldn't even manage a dessert (and I'm a big lad, but the wine helped). Overall rating of 5 stars as it never disappoints, and if you've never been here before, you are missing out. ⭐ Personally, I would suggest booking before the first Michelin star arrives (no joke) Thanks to all at La Mer Rouge for making a rare intimate night out one of the very best it could be (and yes, we are coming back 😁)

We visited on the 10th of September in the evening, the young waitress who served us was an absolute star. She was so polite, helpful and worked hard serving multiple tables all by herself. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Both my partner and I had the scallop starter, which we finished very quickly - they barely touched the table! I then had the pappardelle and he had the bass as our mains. It was truly stunning, and we would recommend to anyone visiting the Shrewsbury/Telford area. Thank you so much!

We haven’t even left this place yet and I feel compelled to write this. The food here is beyond words! The chef is an artist! The welcome from Sam is warm, friendly and so genuine you want him to join you at your table. We had three course as part of their deal and I don’t know how they do it. The monkfish was delicious, which is just as well because it had some serious work to do to beat the scallop starter and the baklava! What can I say. We live in Bristol, over 2.5 hours away and we’re already trying to work out another reason to eat here. Don’t miss this place - we’ll be back.

Booked an early evening dinner for 8 of us on a Saturday evening. Good communication on booking and the chef asked us 2 select in advance which we were happy 2 do. We had a friendly greeting from Willow on arrival who then did a great job of serving us throughout the dinner - always with a smile. Every dish came out perfectly done. The calves liver was excellent. The fish mains were great as was the chicken - also huge portions on that especially. The menu is extensive so will be back 2 try other dishes.

What a lovely restaurant! Enjoyed a delicious seafood chowder for a birthday treat, the sauce was incredible. My husband doesn’t eat fish but was really happy with his chicken shish (which was a huge portion). The service couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return if we head this way again.

I don't usually write reviews on Google but this amazing restaurant in Shrewsbury deserves one. We walked past on Saturday, looked at the menu and were told by some diners that the food was so nice we should go. So we did on Monday evening. The restaurant was quiet but Sam the waiter was highly attentive, explained the menu, why a couple of the items weren't available (didn't want to serve frozen lobster) and chatted amicably about the restaurant, the fishmonger and the local area. The sea bass fillet was outstanding, with dauphinoise potatoes and veg, and a big portion to boot. Service with a smile and even left a tip which is something I never do in any restaurant.

Highly recommended. Went for evening dinner last minute. Rang and was accommodated straight away. Turned up, great surroundings with plenty of parking. Plenty of choice at the bar with extensive range of quality gins. I had rump steak and daughter had special which was rack of ribs. My Steak was beautifully cooked, salad done lovely - better than most places I’ve been. Onion rings I’m sure home cooked as they were perfect. Steak sauce was plentiful. I couldn’t find any fault with my food at all 10/10. My daughter’s rack of ribs was done lovely, could have done with more BBQ dressing, coleslaw was amazing and again salad was lovely with good selection of leaves etc and beautiful dressing. Front of house staff were all very young but all were beyond their years in professionalism and seemed happy to be there. A friend had previously been here and recommended it. I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Apologies for rubbish pictures - I need to focus on photos before I dig in

We had family visiting so I booked a table here for Sunday lunch but when I had phoned to confirm numbers I was told that we could only take in 2 dogs despite me saying there would be 3 at the time of booking, however she did relent but rather haughtily said it would be very cramped with 5 people and 3 dogs so you can see why I was a little nervous, I felt that I had been told off! However I couldn't have been more wrong, the welcome was friendly and full of smiles and we had plenty of room at our table. They catered for the dreaded gluten free vegetarian and the food was delicious. 3 of us opted for the caramelised onion and lentil loaf, one went for gammon and the other for roast pork. Not one complaint was uttered just happy sounds of appreciation! Desert also went down very well, I had the brownie sundae 🤤 All in all the service was great and we had a fabulous meal.

The Birds Nest is a beloved cafe located in the historic Shrewsbury Market Hall, which has been a part of the town since 1965. The cafe is known for its great food, coffee, and vibrant atmosphere with consistent quality and good vibes. It offers a variety of breakfast, lunch, and coffee options using locally sourced ingredients in a street food style. The Market Hall itself houses various food and drink spots that produce fresh cuisine.
While exploring the charming Shrewsbury Market Hall, we found ourselves drawn to its array of global food stalls—ranging from Asian to Mediterranean, and of course, classic British fare. Among all the enticing options, The Birds Nest immediately stood out. Nestled in the corner of the ground floor, you can’t miss it—the mouthwatering aroma hits you before you even spot the bustling crowd. We ordered the Full English Breakfast and The Veggie Beast, and both were absolutely delicious—hearty, fresh, and packed with flavor. Our meal was perfectly complemented by a cup of coffee and a rich hot chocolate. Every bite hit the spot. What made the experience even better was the exceptional customer service. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always had a smile on their faces. It’s clear they care about both their food and their customers. As you can tell from my nearly spotless plate—highly recommended! A must-visit if you’re in Shrewsbury and craving a memorable brunch.

I stopped by The Bird's Nest in the Shrewsbury Indoor Market and tried their mushroom burger—and it seriously exceeded expectations. The highlight was the battered oyster mushrooms in buffalo sauce, tucked into the bun. They were crispy on the outside, tender inside, and coated in just the right amount of tangy, spicy sauce. It gave the burger a real kick without overpowering the other flavours. Everything was well balanced—the bun was soft yet held together nicely, and the overall quality of the ingredients really stood out. The service was just as impressive. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed and welcoming vibe that made the whole experience even better. You can tell they care about both the food and their customers. It’s a proper gem in the market, and I’ll definitely be heading back.

I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere of this place the friendly staff, the delicious drinks and food. I often visit and also order takeaway from time to time. However, what I witnessed today has completely changed my impression of this establishment. One of the chefs accidentally dropped a piece of bread on the floor and then simply picked it up and placed it back on the plate. I was honestly shocked to see this. If the company’s policy is to “work with zero waste”, then perhaps it would be better to have a closed kitchen so that customers are not exposed to such situations.

Be warned that some of the rooms are directly over the bar and it is a loud pub staying open late. Noisy until 12.30am and then people going up and down the corridors until way into the early hours.

Stayed here in March and sadly, it wasn’t quite the cosy escape I’d hoped for. The whole place had a lingering smell of used oil that made it feel more like a chip shop than an inn. The mattress deserves a special mention – imagine lying on a pile of coat hangers and you’ll get the idea. Noise travels impressively well through the walls and floors; I felt like I was part of every conversation happening downstairs and next door. With a bit more TLC, it could be lovely, but it’s not somewhere I’d rush back to. Sorry

Abbey Shrewsbury is a historic red brick building that was once a Benedictine monastery and is now an unpretentious pub offering real ales, comfort food, and live football on TV. The abbey has historical significance as one of the most important in England and was featured in The Cadfael Chronicles. Recently, the pub welcomed farmer Tom Jones to its kitchen, offering field-to-plate dining at affordable prices.
The more limited Sunday menu is reduced, but still a good selection. We had a traditional turkey lunch and a lasagna. Both were everything we hoped for as American tourists. There was a good neighborhood feeling in spite of the rain. The manager took time to talk to us for several minutes.

Rutvik was very attentive and made a fuss of my mum on her birthday which made it very special for our small group. The food was good too! Lovely steak and the curries were so tasty. Would recommend.

Best Indian in Shrewsbury and I've tried them all! Amazing flavours, perfectly cooked and huge portions. The staff are also lovely. Can't recommend highly enough.

This was our first visit since the change of ownership. Lovely to see this pub busy again. We ate from the Indian menu - the food was delicious and the service was attentive. We will be back!
James G — Google review
We ate here while on vacation - the place is incredible. Great ambience, lots of seating choices inside and outside! The menu was huge! So many things to choose from, get ready for a tough choice! But whatever you pick it will be amazing, we were blown away at how good the food was and the staff were super helpful and kind. Great place! Definitely recommend - If we had stayed longer in town we would have gone back every night to eat!

Food was lovely, staff really friendly and efficient…. Would 100% recommend the Indian menu as the food was just so gorgeous and reasonably priced… However the prices of drinks is extortionate as I paid £6.99 for a 0% old mout which was a 500ml bottle which £6.99 for a alcoholic version would be expensive let alone one which has no alcohol considering my brothers Guinness was £5.20, I’d stay clear from ordering any bottled ciders or non alcoholic as they appear rather extortionately priced. Apart from this everything else was amazing

A great waiter who knew about the food and was really good.A new takeover with Indian meals in evening. Bass, Teriyaki salmon and gammon with sides were all delicious as we're the ice cream with apple sauce and ice cream with a big chocolate brownie. Good, clean restaurant with happy staff.
Judy W — Google review
Had a gorgeous curry and excellent service from all staff, especially Rutvik who suggested dishes we might like according to our preferences. We had a delicious meal and a lovely night and will definitely return!

Shrewsbury Market Hall is a bustling hub with over 50 traders offering a diverse range of local produce, delis, butchers, grocers, and unique stalls. The market's main opening days are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Visitors can explore an array of items from flowers to organic wines and second-hand books to hand-embroidered cards.
Shrewsbury Market Hall is an absolute gem and hands down my favorite place in Shrewsbury. From the moment I stepped inside, I understood why it’s an award-winning market — it truly has a charm that made me fall in love with the town itself. The variety here is fantastic. Whether you’re after delicious local food, unique souvenirs, beautiful books, stylish clothes, handcrafted paintings, or artisanal home decor, there’s something to catch your eye at every turn. It’s a treasure trove for anyone who enjoys discovering one-of-a-kind finds and supporting small businesses. The market is clean, well-organized, and bathed in beautiful natural light, which makes wandering through it all the more enjoyable. Every corner feels vibrant and full of life, with friendly vendors and a welcoming atmosphere that invites you to linger. If you’re visiting Shrewsbury, make sure this is at the top of your list. It’s more than just a market — it’s the heart of the town. Definitely worth checking out!

Cute!!! The stalls, people, vibe - perfect. Go if you're in the area! Special mention to the lady who runs the cookware stall - bought some cute bits and asked her about food. Straight away she emphatically told me to try the Thai place. I went straight there and it was amazing and so cheap!!! The bookstore on the top floor is quaint and a really lovely woman runs it. She showed me an amazing 2nd edition copy of Lord of the rings. Overall, charming, friendly, good food, great stalls. 👍

The best market in Britain? That's their proud boast and do you know what? I don't disagree. The range of small independent market stalls had something for everyone. I had a wonderful time wandering around wondering if I could bring potential purchases home.
Clive L — Google review
Great indoor market with brilliant selection of stalls, food, arts & craft, records, antiques etc. Lots of individual places to grab a coffee of a full meal Definitely worth visiting

So many things to see inside and many food options! Defo recommend taking some time to stroll around and go to the top as well to read about the history of the building (I personally think the 60s architecture was horrific, but inside it’s very nice)
Tracy S — Google review
So many small businesses in a great place. Lovely to see such a unique collective of services, produce and dining. Particularly loved the wine bar.
Jodie S — Google review
Nice selection of regular stalls. Good quality food, little cafés and handy toilets.
Dale S — Google review
After reading rave reviews we decided to take a trip to Shrewsbury Market Hall. Honestly, I was severely underwhelmed. I expected more stalls and a wider range of products, if I am honest. This market is comparable to most local markets, selling fruit and veg, meat, bakery items etc on its lower ground. Upstairs you find more of the stalls I was hoping to find, but in such small numbers that it really wasn’t worth the trip. We bought a few Pokemon cards from a friendly card vendor, and then left. If you’re in the area, do pop by….but don’t drive an hour and a half out of your way for this market like I did.

Hadley Park House Hotel is an elegant and upscale hotel located in Telford, offering wedding and conference facilities along with a fine-dining restaurant. The hotel provides various amenities such as a refrigerator, private toilet, cots, dry cleaning services, conference rooms, mini bar, and a ticket booking service. Guests can also enjoy the beautiful garden on the premises. The hotel's location offers easy access to the village of Rodington and New College Telford.
I stayed here for one night on a business trip and it was very comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly and the facilitate pretty good. The hotel is based in an old, historic house so expect the fixtures and fittings to reflect its age, but this did not detract from the experience. Lovely staircases, key locked doors and loads of hot water for the shower - my room even had a Chaise Lounge in it. It was quiet and the food was good - I would stay here again.

Attended a wedding and because we had good weather it was a lovely venue. Wedding was held outside and spent majority of our time in the grounds which are well kept. In the evening there was only the one room with the disco available so no where to escape the noise inside. We stayed the night and our room was near the entertainment so it was noisy until it stopped at 12.30. Otherwise the room was lovely, clean and spacious. Good size bathroom. Breakfast for the wedding party was a buffet which was freshly cooked. Cafetiere coffee.
Christine B — Google review
A beautiful place that caters really well for weddings. Good sized rooms, beautiful, clean washrooms and separate washrooms downstairs too. Good, spacious halls for breakfast and other events. A lovely outdoor area with an isle and benches should one wish to use it for their ceremony. Overall, a lovely experience. My personal, only niggle was the lack of a fridge in the rooms. We had a toddler with us and needed somewhere to store our milk. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to use the kitchen fridge, and there was no fridge in the rooms either.

Attended my neice and her partners wedding on the 11th April. A number of family and friends stayed on the 10th and 11th April. From check in to check out staff were superb. Going above and beyond to accommodate our change of plans on the Thursday to have dinner at the hotel instead of somewhere else. They were so professional in providing dinner for the 17 of us at short notice and gave us a private room for which we were all so thankful to all of the staff. The food from that dinner and throughout our stay was excellent. This stands out as the best wedding I have attended and all the staff contributed greatly to that. On the Saturday morning none of us wanted to leave and I think if there had not been another wedding that day we would have happily sat in the garden enjoying the sun and "oh go on then" another cool pint. Everyone at the Hadley Park House should be immensely proud of the service you all provide 😁👏😁

We had our wedding at Hadley Park House Hotel and it was absolutely perfect. Tara and Amanda were amazing from start to finish—calm, professional and completely on the ball. Everything ran so smoothly, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing on the day. Huge thanks to Fran too, who was a fantastic master of ceremonies and just brilliant throughout. The venue, the food, the service—everything was spot on. We’ve had so many compliments from our guests. Couldn’t recommend Hadley Park more!

Delivered wedding flowers here for one of our clients and really felt welcome which doesn't always happen at venues when your just dropping things off. Staff were lovely and the hotel itself was beautiful. Really helpful and beautiful setting

I hosted my baby shower at Hadley Park House Hotel, and I can't speak highly enough of Kirsty and the entire team. From start to finish, Kirsty went above and beyond to help organize every detail, ensuring that the day was absolutely perfect. She is such a kind, friendly, and caring person, and it’s clear she genuinely puts her heart into making your experience unforgettable. The room was stunning, and the cream teas were a real highlight, delicious! The selection of sandwiches and cakes was perfect, catering to everyone's tastes. Every member of staff on the day was fantastic, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. A huge thank you to Hadley Park House Hotel for making this day so special. We’ll definitely be back!

Country food restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Bridgnorth, The Punch Bowl Inn is a historic gem that has earned accolades as Wedding Venue of the Year 2016. This enchanting spot not only hosts weddings and civil ceremonies but also offers delightful accommodations complete with a garden, restaurant, and bar. Guests can indulge in a memorable dining experience featuring a Sunday carvery that showcases an array of beautifully prepared dishes made from fresh ingredients.
So glad we decided to visit here, the carvery was amazing, so much choice for a weekday, food was piping hot and every choice I tried was delicious, they definitely know they're cooking here! The staff are all attentive and friendly and i had the apple and cinnamon crumble for my dessert with custard, the portion was too much and I couldn't eat it all but believe me im not complaining, on any other day I would have got it down me but the carvery was so delicious I was almost at my limit, we had the 2 course but there is also a 3 course available and I found the prices quite reasonable. The other big bonus for us was the fact that dogs are allowed, this made everything! Thanks for the food, keep up the top work!
Andrew W — Google review
Went here about a month ago and no where near as good as it used to be since it has changed hands. The staff seemed to ignore us as we were waiting to be seated and crammed into the den, which now has more tables. The meat was ok but the roast potatoes and parsnips seemed to have been cooked with hardly no fat and were hard. It's a shame as this was our go to place but not any more 😔
Susan — Google review
Took our grandson out for the day and called in for lunch. The food was lovely. The meat melted in your mouth and the choice of potatoes and veg was good. Our 9yr old grandson who isn't a big eater really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely especially Ange who was really helpful. I'm sure we'll be going again.

Olde Punch Bowl was simply remarkable. We felt completely at home as soon as we walked in thanks to the friendly personnel and welcoming environment. Today's Sunday carvery included a delicious selection of dishes that were all beautifully prepared using premium, fresh ingredients. Every morsel was a gastronomic joy, and I am eager to come back and sample more of their delectable dishes or another carvery. Real value for money. The owner, the great cooks, and the entire crew deserve praise. 100% recommended 5+++++ 👍🏆

Sunday carvery was excellent, However we were put in a function room and our table was surrounded by aprox. 50 people meeting and greeting prior to thier meal. The noise was so bad I turned my hearing aids off and could not have a conversation with my wife as the noise was still too much.

Beautiful location minutes from Bridgnorth centre. Carvery and menu available all week. Staff very friendly and helpful. One room is also dog friendly. Best to book in advance.

We did not stay in the hotel but turned up for food. Seems rather popular as the place was fully booked for its lunch run and on a mid-week also. The food was tasty and the place was so beautiful. The price was also great, with a 3 course special for un £20pp. My only negatives that lost a star were that we had wine, white, and this did not arrived chilled. There was a server, who served us too who apparently got a little fluster as everyone arrived and blurted loudly that an issue was down to everyone arriving at the same time. This was heard by us and the customers waiting, who looked equally as perplexed at the statement. Beside all that the starter of the soup arrived well presented and was tasty, hot and delicious. The carvery had some of the tastiest beef I've had, perfectly cooked and plenty of veg to select from. However, the roasters were not to my liking, apologies just my preference, prefer fluffy and crispy. The desert was divine with a bread and butter pudding. One of my all time faves!!! Would i go back.... I'd be a fool not to.

I came in for a pint only the one ale on tap but far to say nice pint, and looked inviting insider, looks clean and tidy and well looked after, the last time I came in looked run down going back any years, I couldn't give it a 5 star purely because not much ale on but looks to be thriving, looks rather busy on the weekends too when driving past

Nestled within the charming Market Hall of Shrewsbury, The Market Cafe is a delightful culinary haven that showcases an array of delectable offerings. From mouthwatering cakes and all-day breakfasts to fresh salads, quiches, and scrumptious scones, everything is crafted in-house using locally sourced ingredients. This cozy spot also features a secondary stall called Oh, For Goodness Cake at the Darwin Shopping Centre, where you can indulge in sweet treats like waffles and milkshakes.
Visited this morning with my family, best all day breakfast we have ever had, grilled cheese toastie was also great. All excellent quality ingredients. Very tasty. Great coffee and cakes too. Very welcoming, and the lady that served us was very polite and friendly. We will definitely return.

Albrecht found this cafe on the upper deck of the indoor market. Excellent spot for breakfast. Breakfast £8.95, £11.95 for the big. Really good quality. Nice spot and great service.
MADDOGLEP — Google review
The toasties were a quite expensive considering it was a small portion with no sides, compared to some of the meals which were only a small amount of money more. But apart from that the atmosphere was lovely and it was a gorgeous Place. :)
Honey M — Google review
Whilst the service was excellent, the feel and atmosphere was good, the food was a bit of a curiosity. We ordered late breakfast time, they serve the breakfast baps all day it seems, but when our food arrived it was very strange to see half a red onion, some green leaves and 7 ready salted crisps on the side. We noticed after we ordered that all are served with salad and crisps which we find very odd on a breakfast item. The breakfast bap was 9.50 and had multiple sausage, bacon, hash browns and a fried egg, for 4.45 the bacon bap was a bit disappointing, 2 slices of quite fatty stringy bacon. On the whole we really enjoyed the place, but the food was 1 happy guest and 1 bit disappointed guest. But we will recommend to people.

I come here for the cakes, which are delicious. The pretty girl at the counter is also very polite and helpful (don't know her name). Menu is extensive, never sat down for a meal because I'm mostly laden with shopping bags, and besides, it's always full. Tried their vanilla milkshake once, was not dissapointed. Huge for the price, though I wish they'd include more flavours.

This is an outstanding little cafe. Beautifully presented, clean and welcoming. The staff are lovely, the coffee is great and the waffles are to die for. I have never eaten better waffles than these. Highly recommend this as an essential stop in a tour of the wonderful indoor market.
