Pub
The Armoury is a charming riverside gastropub with an imposing, historic feel and a stylish, eclectic menu. The interior features exposed brick walls adorned with bookshelves, offering a cozy atmosphere for families and solo diners alike. With its open fires and large windows overlooking the river, it's the perfect spot to enjoy fresh food, cask ales, and wine.
We arrived early as we had to leave the AirBnB by 11, but they were happy to show us to our table and leave luggage piled up whilst wandering around the quarry. As we just wanted a snack, we got three mains between us (Lamb shoulder, roasted duck leg and battered fish n chips) which everyone enjoyed - lovely rich gravy with the first two! All around wonderful relaxed service - would heartily recommend!

Great place! Food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and attentive. I think this place is really good value. The ambience is great as well, love the decor.

The outside seating was great! Food was amazing too. Really friendly and helpful staff couldn't have asked for more

Friendly service, but the only vegan option was pretty poor, the tagine was good, the broccoli too although that was a little cold. It was the couscous, no flavour and it’s simply awful, fortunately I mixed most of it with the tagine which had a nice flavour. The white sauce on the side was a bit of a nothing slightly coconut tasting sauce, added nothing. Had some chips on the side and these were good. There was no vegan desert option, well there was that frozen fruit nonsense but how is that a desert? went to Flora Lounge for chocolate and raspberry torte, they had two vegan desert options. The website which we looked at in the morning boasted of a proper main and desert, none were available as it was a Sunday and their Web had not updated. A meat eating friend had a hair in it, which was dealt with ok, it was odd that the guy asked “do you want me to get you a fresh one” which is off phrasing when dealing with a customer complaint, but the older chap came over and apologised profusely, so not bad customer service on that. But it’s the lack of vegan options which is why we won’t be coming back for food, do yourself a favour, bin the couscous. May come back for drinks though as it’s a nice enough place otherwise.

Excellent as Always, one of the reason's we keep on coming back! There was a group of 4 of us and we had a fab meal last night, with prompt service, Excellent food, all served by a lovely, friendly, pleasant young waitress. There's always a great atmosphere here too.
Angela C — Google review
We had booked a table for two on a Friday night. It was busy when we arrived at 8pm but seated promptly. No problem catering for lactose intolerance. Delighted with our lovely server who was very attentive despite a full restaurant. The food was exceptional. I had the crispy beef salad. My daughter had a mushroom, red pepper and haloumi burger. We had desserts and a bottle of wine. At £80 I thought it was good value.
Sarah M — Google review
A lovely location overlooking the river. The cauliflower & blue cheese soup was delish!
Oona O — Google review
Was not very impressed with the quality and quantity of the children chicken goujons. Since when has a child's meal consisted of just 2 tiny goujons? It was pitiful for an upmarket pub/restaurant. The fish was over cooked and chips were lukewarm. Dessert was very small. Clearly a business making cutbacks at the expense of the customer! Very disappointing Brunning Price. You need to up your game to win us back.

Pub
Nestled along the scenic banks of the River Severn, The Woodbridge Inn in Coalport is a charming and quirky retreat that perfectly blends comfort with culinary delights. This delightful inn features both an inviting indoor dining area and a picturesque outdoor terrace, where guests can soak up stunning river views while enjoying their meals. Known for its smart gastropub dishes and hearty roasts, The Woodbridge Inn caters to various tastes, although vegetarian options may be somewhat limited.
Great traditional food at reasonable prices. Good stock of beers and gins through other spirits are available. Plenty of spaces for parking and nice views of the river Severn if seated in the right place. Plenty of seats outside to eat too whenever the weather picks up. Like to add I had the steak pie and was great with plenty of meat which I tend to find at other places usually lacking!!!
David B — Google review
Absolutely beautiful pub in an amazing location. Plenty of parking too. Really delicious Roast Beef and trimmings. Very friendly Staff, Grace was our Server and she was great! There's a lot of tables but its very well organised, we were served very professionally and efficiently. If you want a table with a view (of the gorgeous bridge and river) then you will definitely have to book. Dog friendly with a great doggy water station outside. Toilets very clean. Only loses a slight point due to the Roast Chicken being a tad bland but apart from that, everything was great!
Sarah — Google review
Beautiful location overlooking the river. We went for Easter Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. The food and service was spot on and the service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only reason I did not give this a five star is because of the toilet facilities. They need to be improved.
Valerie B — Google review
Wonderful food, well done to the chef, perfect views, and all of the staff were so polite and friendly. I highly recommend the smoked salmon sandwich and chocolate brownie pudding! This place is also dog friendly.
Claire B — Google review
Although a very beautiful place, we were disappointed with the food and service. We had to place our drinks order at the bar each time as the waitress who looked after us was never there. When she came to take a drinks order, we had done it a while ago at the bar. I ordered a steak that was average. Would not recommend it. Very slow service. As I said, it's a stunning place, and I am sure you would enjoy a drink or two.
Martyna W — Google review
I want to go back when it’s not summer to see if I have a better experience but my day there was honestly unbearable due to the amount wasps and hornets landing on us which was slightly terrifying (mainly when the hornets appeared) this isn’t really the pubs fault but something people need to be prepared for if they’re dining outside. There aren’t any humane kind of wasps and hornet traps, we ended up leaving after less than an hour of being there and not finishing our meal because of it. The staff are amazing, service was great, the place is absolutely beautiful. Vegetarian roast was pretty terrible (extremely dry) but my partners pork and beef roast was really nice. I’d happily go and eat inside and try the weekday menu though.
Sian G — Google review
We really enjoyed our leisurely lunch at the Woodbridge Inn today. Nestled right by the river, offering spectacular views. A good, varied menu, I highly recommend the steak, ale and potato pie. The servers were friendly and attentive. A lovely experience.

Beautiful country pub with a gorgeous setting. Just annoyed that we have only just found it having lived in the area for 3 years. Staff were friendly, very helpful and the food was brilliant. We had been for a walk down the Severn and popped in for some lite bites.....we will be back....most likely again and again.

Breakfast restaurant
Euston Way Beefeater is a delightful pub-style chain that specializes in grilled meats and international favorites, including mouthwatering fajitas. Their breakfast offerings are particularly appealing, especially for families, as one child under 15 can eat free with an unlimited selection of both traditional English breakfast items and continental treats like pastries and cereals. Guests can also enjoy endless Costa coffee and Twinings tea to kickstart their day.
We visited here for our pre-christmas get-together. This was my first visit, and I will definitely be back. Service was second to none, fun, friendly, attentive staff, making sure we were happy at all times. Providing recommendations, which is a bit unusual at a chain restaurant, but very welcome, thank you to Fi our server. The restaurant itself was spotless, no untidy tables and we weren't left sitting with finished plates, fabulous. Toilets too were very clean. In fact it was so good we're intending on having our monthly dinner here. 😊 One of the best eating experiences I've had in Telford. Highly recommend. 😊
Christina W — Google review
This was a brilliant restaurant for lunch, with a warm interior replicating greenery! The Christmas decorations at the time of visit were nice and leather seating is comfortable, counter is neat in itself. I had a diet coke to accompany the fresh Chicken Wings with a delicious spicy sauce, servers were friendly and cleanliness was solid!

Called in for quick dinner before work. Found it a bit pricely for what it is. But managed to find meals under £8 so had chicken sandwich and chips. Service was ok. Food ok. Atmosphere ok.
Chris — Google review
Had a Great restaurant for singles or large groups great service. Plenty of varied seating areas. You don't need to be in the Premier in to enjoy a breakfast, can be paid for separately.
Louise — Google review
Absolutely lovely! From the moment we entered the restaurant until we left. Jade and her colleagues couldn't do enough. The food was hot and quick. Service was welcoming without being intrusive! We normally visit for breakfast but will definitely be back for an evening meal. Thank you 😊
Jill H — Google review
We were lucky enough to have Jade G to serve us with drinks tonight. Throughout the evening she was really happy and jovial. A truly professional lady who took pride in her work. Well done to Jade and a BIG thank you.
Carl P — Google review
Went to the beefeater in Telford yesterday and the service and food was absolutely amazing. when you buy a fizzy drink you get unlimited top ups and the staff did it without any prompt. I had a rump steak which came with a mushroom, chips and a sauce. I can say that it was the best I have had for a long time. I strongly recommend this place.
Galactica T — Google review
Worst Beefeater ever. Food was adequate. Staff attitude appalling! We were shown to a seating area for the 6 of us, by the manager, only to find we were allocated a booth with fixed table and seats. As we are not the smallest of adults, we couldn't fit in. When we asked if there was any other tables, we were grumpily told the restaurant was fully booked because of the summer holidays and the hotel was full. I asked if they could pull tables together but got the same reply. A nice gentleman even offered to move if it would help us but he was told the same thing. She begrudgingly offered us a bigger table but we're told we could only have it for an hour ( quite a job in itself with 4 kids ) so we accepted but felt like we being rushed and didn't enjoy our breakfast at all. It didn't help that she was talking at the top of her voice for everyone to hear which was quite embarrassing for us. Before the hour was up we were being watched and the manager and her staff were looking at their watches and talking between themselves while staring at us. Needless to say we hurried out and it's no surprise to say we will never set foot in there again. She even had the same attitude with other guests so at least it wasn't just us, but still, not the greatest start to the day.

My first visit to this beautiful place. I was not disappointed .... such a lovely atmosphere with lovely staff. The menu had lots of lovely dishes that would tempt everyone. I went for the fish pie! It was amazing . Gorgeous fluffy mash on top of the most gorgeous fish in a creamy white sauce. I have had many fish pies over the years but this was the best ever. Portions were big but I still managed to have desssert. The lemon pie, it was to die for. I love citrus and this didn't let me down, it came with a vanilla custard. Gorgeous. I look forward to returning again soon , thank you for the most gorgeous meal Huntsman 😊

Our lunch for 10 today was superb. The young lady who is maitre’d or manager not sure which is so welcoming and attended to our every need. Excellent menu - good hot food or cold. Staff are so smiling, kind and efficient. Because I am disabled - I have to use many such facilities. This one is the best in Shropshire. I thoroughly recommend The Huntsman as a good, comfortable, beautifully furnished establishment but above all excellent food and caring staff. Maureen Bond Church Stretton

Rooms 3 stars cause there's only 3 of them so book far ahead if you want to stay here. Rooms are nice tough. No complaints. Food is very nice. Pub style and continental. Desert is a must. We.got told the chef likes to experiment and menu changes often because of that. Staff is very friendly and in for a chat.

Absolutely beautiful food and friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful location and i really like that you can order from the main menu in the beer garden as most places don’t let you! I’ll definitely be back soon and would recommend to anyone!

Are family recently held my fathers wake at The Huntsman, Karen and her team gave us outstanding service with one member of staff coming in on their day off. The kindness that our family was shown really made a difficult day a little easier. The food was superb and I hope many of our friends who attended have discovered a gem in the Huntsman.

Popped in after a trek up the Wrekin on a cold & very wet day! Was hoping the real fire would be lit to warm & dry but unfortunately it wasn't as it appears not everyone is as crazy as us getting soaked through and needing it!! However still a lovely pub with a cosy & friendly feel about it. Not stayed in the accommodation so can't comment on the rooms and not actually eaten here either YET - the food we saw coming out looked amazing so will have to factor time in for that too next time!

Italian restaurant
The Italian restaurant La Lanterna is a great find in the heart of Shrewsbury. The food, wine and service are all fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. It's a great place to enjoy an evening with friends.
I really enjoyed this hidden gem. I loved the atmosphere. Downstairs so not suitable for those with mobility issues. This small restaurant packs a punch with exquisite flavours authentic Italian food.
Emma H — Google review
Saw some great reviews for this cute little hidden Italian restaurant and thought I would go and find it on a recent trip to Shrewsbury. It did not disappoint. I had the lunch special chickpea (I think) ravioli with bolognese, which came with salad, bruschetta and a glass of wine all for a reasonable price - plus it was delicious! The Host is hardworking and friendly - attending to every table with gusto. I loved it so much that I was tempted to go for dinner but I thought I’d save it for another trip. Do go! It’s easy to find with Google maps. I also dined solo and felt totally fine.
Deena C — Google review
My first visit here and won’t be my last! We visited as a party of 6, celebrating a 75th birthday. The food was outstanding, authentic Italian and boy it was good! Portion sizes are very generous and taste absolutely delicious. Service was flawless, couldn’t fault it and the restaurant was as quirky as they come. I’d recommend anyone local to the area or visiting Shrewsbury to book yourself in here. They have limited seating, so it books up very fast, so get your bookings in early.
Kelly G — Google review
We found this place after a little searching, thank good ess for the sign posts however it fits the hidden gem statement. We arrowed and greeted by pleasant staff, a little pushy on the are we ready to order, especially as we were early for our 6pm sitting. We ordered some drinks and then our food. Cannot fault the food at all, very delicious indeed. Great value for money also. I had the salmon and vegetables which was absolutely delicious. It is a small venue, it can be a squeeze at times. My only problem was one of the girls asked me to move my bag which is fine buy it was how she said it to me, was quite rude. That's why it's dropped a star for me on the review. However, food and atmosphere brilliant. FYI- extremely warm and no air con far as I could tell and it was super hot on a very hot day outside.
Sarah M — Google review
Today was my first time visiting a small Italian-style restaurant. The waiter was very good, polite, and introduced the lunch set in detail with a smile, so we ordered lunch and dessert, which was a good value for money. So we booked to come back with friends for lunch next time.
Steven A — Google review
My new favourite restaurant! I absolutely love it here- there's lots of selection for all tastes, the interior is absolutely gorgeous and the atmosphere is quiet and intimate. The staff work incredibly hard and are very attentive! I can't wait to go back!
Rachel S — Google review
I had lamb’s liver and it was nice yet a bit too much as a main. The salad with tear drop shape peppers is quite new to me, and I find out it is in some supermarkets. The dining experience gives me a satisfying and surprising feeling about Italian food. Like the food and staff here, and had such lovely evening because of them.
Jen H — Google review
The food is excellent. But I felt only able to award 3 stars. Here's the reason why. As with most restaurants, the food and drinks menus are publicized online on the restaurant's own website. But the drinks prices are misleading. For instance, the house wine is listed online at £17.50 a bottle. But if you buy it you will be charged £22.50. And the Italian (white wine) Spritz is publicized on their website at £3.50. But you'll be charged almost double that. And if you order the Set Lunch, be careful, because it is supposed to include a glass of house wine, but we initially got charged (as in the photo). It's a lot easier to change prices on a website than to have to print out a whole new set of menus. So I don't understand why the owner has let himself down with out of date prices. Even the blackboard at the restaurant entrance was showing an old price for the set meal. I do hope the misleading online prices are just a case of proprietor incompetence, and not something Shropshire Trading Standards would want to know about. So despite the great food, the overall experience left a bad taste in our mouths.

Nestled in one of Ludlow's charming backstreets, Chang Thai Bar & Restaurant offers a delightful escape into the heart of authentic Thai cuisine. This inviting venue is split between a cozy lounge bar and an elegant dining area, both adorned with deep leather sofas and surrounded by a serene bamboo garden. Guests can indulge in an array of traditional dishes that cater to various dietary preferences, ensuring everyone finds something to savor.
Very nice. Lovely food. The decor creates an authentic atmosphere. Great service. Will visit again. My Auntie loves it here.

Have been a couple of times and the first time had a great experience when they were doing thai style kebabs. The second time we went to the restaurant and had chicken stay which was OK, but not nearly enough satay about the amount of one bit of chicken rather than 4. Had sticky rice and the new beef main. Which was ok in flavour but not outstanding.
Dominic P — Google review
I could have stayed here for hours! The atmosphere in the bar was super relaxed... Lots of unusual art, some from a local artist, and little starry lights gave it all a warm glow. Tables, chairs, barstools and sofas give you plenty of seating options. The staff were all friendly, inviting and attentive. We had a nice tapas platter to start and a main meal each, all packed full of flavour and hot. All topped off with some rather delicious dessert cocktails. Fab evening with the hubby whilst visiting Ludlow.

Lovely relaxed garden and cool bar. Good vibes. Friendly staff and delicious food.

This was my first experience of dining in a restaurant, under the 'Eat Out to Help Out Scheme' introduced by the government. It was only possible to reserve a table for lunchtime on Tuesday 18th - evenings were fully booked out. There was outdoor seating which was decently spaced out. I ordered the Pad Thai (main) with Tofu and a starter of Spring Rolls (vegetable), all served on the same plate. A Chang-style lager went well with it. I think this is the best Thai Meal I have tasted for a while; the restaurant is worth another visit and I will try out the other meals :)

We were recommended this place by locals so we’re trying it out. Very central location tucked away along a side street, with great bar and indoor/outdoor eating areas. Lots of lush planting in the spacious outdoor eating area. Food: prawn skewers excellent. Thai salad super-fresh but is properly spicy-hot!! (Be warned!). Sundays is a relaxed outdoor barbecue. Friendly service. Definitely recommended. And we haven’t even had our main course yet (Meat Platter, in case you’re wondering!).

Ginger & Co. Coffee Shop is a popular spot in Shrewsbury, known for its specialty coffee and homemade menu items using the finest local produce. The cafe offers a variety of hot drinks, cakes, and light bites, including options for vegans and those with gluten-free dietary needs. It's also dog-friendly and located on Princess Street. Visitors praise the generous portion sizes and delicious breakfast bowls.
Another high quality cafe with excellent food and drinks options. Yes we did have to wait a while for a table but that’s also the positive that the place is so popular. The food and drinks were beautifully presented and the staff helpful. Definitely worth a stop to try.

Nice little cafe with plenty of healthy and tasty food options. I went with the hot bowl on the specials board and it was the chickpea curry. It had a lovely warm spice to it with chunks of cauliflower and sweet potato. If it’s on the specials board I would recommend it! There’s also a selection of cakes on the counter. The lemon and blueberry blondie was deliciously tart with a soft sponge. It was very reasonably priced as well.

Went for breakfast, we had bacon butties and the kids had pancakes with Nutella and banana. I had an iced coffee and everyone else had a pot of tea. Staff friendly and helpful and a nice chilled out atmosphere. Food and drinks were delicious. And the place is dog friendly with free doggy biscuits 🐾. Well worth a visit

A Sunday morning in Shrewsbury, looking for a coffee and cake - we found Ginger and Co. It was busy with customers but we got seated promptly and the service was quick. They had a lovely selection of cakes, with about 5/6 GF or Vegan ones to choose from 👍 They were all in the same counter area, so I hope they used separate tongs for the GF ones… 😉 We had a Lemon and Blueberry Blondie and a Chocolate Brownie, both GF and delicious. I enjoyed a rich and tasty Americano while my wife had a coke with ice. The place has a pleasing rustic feel to it, from wooden decoration and counters, window painting to some hand-written menus on rolls of paper. A really enjoyable hour spent just relaxing…
Gee A — Google review
A great place for breakfast! We had soooo much for our breakfast that honestly we skipped all our meals thereafter. We had hummus toast, avo toast, pancakes with Nutella and banana, beetroot coffee and peanut butter smoothie....Too too good! We were stuffed and chuffed! 😋😋

If you're coeliac and want something more than a baked potato then I highly recommend this cafe, even if you're not they have such fantastic and flavoursome options that you're going to be satisfied. I had a meal a cappuccino and a cake and have to say I really enjoyed my experience. The staff were really nice and very helpful Parking in Shrewsbury is not an issue and it's a short walk away. I will return for more
Roberto H — Google review
My visit to Ginger and Co Coffee Shop offered a blend of highs and lows. The wild mushroom toastie stole the show—absolutely incredible. The hot chocolate, though enjoyable, fell short of being amazing. The carrot cake, unfortunately, was a bit dull and unimpressive. The service was decent, but a hiccup occurred when one of the cakes was missing, prompting a trip to the counter for a reminder. Despite this, the overall atmosphere was pleasant. If you're a dog owner seeking a quick drink and cake, this place is pet-friendly and might suit your needs. In summary, Ginger and Co Coffee Shop has its highlights, particularly with the exceptional toastie, but there's room for improvement, especially in the variety and quality of the desserts.

La Mer Rouge is a delightful Mediterranean restaurant that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its vibrant atmosphere and welcoming staff, this eatery has quickly made a name for itself in the culinary scene. Specializing in seafood, La Mer Rouge offers an impressive array of dishes, including mouthwatering prawns and monkfish curry that evoke flavors reminiscent of Indian cuisine. Diners rave about the generous portion sizes and beautifully presented meals, complemented by a fantastic selection of wines.
A hidden gem in plain sight. 💎 My wife and I booked this wonderful seafood restaurant. I'd eaten there before with friends and wanted to show the experience, which did not disappoint. 🍤🦐🦞 Sam was a great host, kept us smiling, and was very welcoming. The mixologist did, too, and she was incredible (photos below) with her mixers. Chef made an appearance and is always a delight to speak to. 🍹🍸 The table was decorated beautifully, with flowers, as I mentioned when booking how little we get to go out together. (Without the kids) 💐 The starters were stunning, the mains to die for, and I couldn't even manage a dessert (and I'm a big lad, but the wine helped). Overall rating of 5 stars as it never disappoints, and if you've never been here before, you are missing out. ⭐ Personally, I would suggest booking before the first Michelin star arrives (no joke) Thanks to all at La Mer Rouge for making a rare intimate night out one of the very best it could be (and yes, we are coming back 😁)

Visited for the 4th time last Saturday and was not disappointed. The food is always good here, especially the fish, the service is welcoming and efficient and the desserts made us smile.

We visited on the 10th of September in the evening, the young waitress who served us was an absolute star. She was so polite, helpful and worked hard serving multiple tables all by herself. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Both my partner and I had the scallop starter, which we finished very quickly - they barely touched the table! I then had the pappardelle and he had the bass as our mains. It was truly stunning, and we would recommend to anyone visiting the Shrewsbury/Telford area. Thank you so much!

We haven’t even left this place yet and I feel compelled to write this. The food here is beyond words! The chef is an artist! The welcome from Sam is warm, friendly and so genuine you want him to join you at your table. We had three course as part of their deal and I don’t know how they do it. The monkfish was delicious, which is just as well because it had some serious work to do to beat the scallop starter and the baklava! What can I say. We live in Bristol, over 2.5 hours away and we’re already trying to work out another reason to eat here. Don’t miss this place - we’ll be back.

Booked an early evening dinner for 8 of us on a Saturday evening. Good communication on booking and the chef asked us 2 select in advance which we were happy 2 do. We had a friendly greeting from Willow on arrival who then did a great job of serving us throughout the dinner - always with a smile. Every dish came out perfectly done. The calves liver was excellent. The fish mains were great as was the chicken - also huge portions on that especially. The menu is extensive so will be back 2 try other dishes.

Really delicious food in generous portion. We ordered seafood paradedelle (pasta), marinated sea bream with fried calamari and ragout potatoes, and kid’s chicken with rice. We will definitely come back again! :)

What a lovely restaurant! Enjoyed a delicious seafood chowder for a birthday treat, the sauce was incredible. My husband doesn’t eat fish but was really happy with his chicken shish (which was a huge portion). The service couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return if we head this way again.

I don't usually write reviews on Google but this amazing restaurant in Shrewsbury deserves one. We walked past on Saturday, looked at the menu and were told by some diners that the food was so nice we should go. So we did on Monday evening. The restaurant was quiet but Sam the waiter was highly attentive, explained the menu, why a couple of the items weren't available (didn't want to serve frozen lobster) and chatted amicably about the restaurant, the fishmonger and the local area. The sea bass fillet was outstanding, with dauphinoise potatoes and veg, and a big portion to boot. Service with a smile and even left a tip which is something I never do in any restaurant.

Stayed for one night. Friendly welcome, clean and comfortable room. The food was very good, brilliant service both evening meal and at breakfast. We had to park in a street on arrival (late morning) as the town was very busy. We were able to move close to the pub on the pay & display car park once day visitors had left (late afternoon). This wasn't a problem but is something to be mindful of when visiting. We will most definitely stay here again.

Disappointing experience, felt that we should have left even before the meal was served After over hearing a female member The Gammon was a nice meal the wife said. My fish was not fully cooked, changed meal to beef red wine pie, didn't have the wow factor of a home cooked. Very expensive for soft drinks feel I was charged double for the price of a returned meal
Francois K — Google review
Lack of communication, booked 4 nights, was not informed pub would be shut from lunchtime for 2 of them. Room was comfortable but could have done without the thick cobwebs round the windows, lights and bedside cabinets.
Martin C — Google review
There were no clear signs, stating dogs were not allowed in the bar. There was a sign outside stating dogs on leads. So this is where the confusion is. I went up to the bar to ask, but the landlady was rude to me, saying no dogs are allowed inside and asked me to leave with an attitude. That's fine, but there was no need to be rude. Being hearing impaired not easy hearing what she was saying . On top of that, a child came running up to my dogs, which startled them... Maybe children shouldn't be allowed in bars 🤔 Dogs are allowed in the garden, no good if you are Solo, but good for the business, especially if you are eating.

Used to be one of our favourite places to visit before the newest in their brand opened, still love this place-it’s just the other one is closer to us now. Had an email from the grill club to say my points would be lost if I didn’t use them before the end of the month, and that 50% off mains was valid on a Monday evening. Would have lost £18 which would have been a waste of collecting so booked a table for last night and wasn’t disappointed. Busiest we’d seen the place in a while which was great to see, really helped make the atmosphere. There was a steady flow of people coming in for reservations from couples to families to groups of friends-50% off mains is a really great idea to get the crowds in. One of the managers, Lucy showed us to our table and asked if we were happy with the small table for two against the wall or if we’d rather have a booth by the window-we politely went with the latter. I know managers should lead by example, but I truly feel that Lucy is brilliant at her job with great compassion for customers. Her interaction with everyone, not just us was second to none-helping with menu choices or advising on the app and that you could use the offer against points. Food is always of excellent standard, I had one of my usuals-the beef brisket which was tasty and portion size was great. We both had a main and drink each, with my points and the deal I paid the grand total of £6. Will definitely be visiting again on a Monday evening.

We visited on 1st September for the first time as it was our anniversary. Everything was perfect, from the food to the service. Would like to mention Caydon, he was great the whole evening, very attentive and friendly. Also, huge thanks to the team as a whole who made the evening special with a lovely card and a glass of Prosecco each. Lovely place to visit, and even dog friendly in the bar!

Superb service. Friendly, helpful staff. The waiter went out of his way to get me something that was normaly on the lunch menu. I had pork and leek sausages with garden peas, carrots, creamy mash with a very tasty caramelised gravy. This was delicious. I followed this with a dish of assorted ice-cream scoops garnished with strawberries and blue berries. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

Food delicious 😋 seasoned fries though, absolute rip off at £4.75 for a small cupful. Service extremely poor. Appears to be run by youngsters! Confusion on arrival which way we needed to go, I.e left or right, we had a dog. Bar person and waitress just stared at us as we entered, so we turned right, as another couple with a dog were in this area. It's not table service either. We didn't know that. You go to the bar to get your menus, to order, and to get your drinks and pay! That's fine but no-one tells you that. The staff didn't seem friendly at all. It appears they focus their attention more on the restaurant diners than the bar diners with dogs 🐕 won't be returning! The fact too they don't even bother acknowledging reviews on here says it all!

Superb from start to finish. I ordered the tasting menu - every dish was excellent and just as memorable as the last. The Japanese milk bread is beautifully soft and delicious. The the little extra bites that arrive between some courses are a lovely bonus too. Excellent warm service. Would absolutely come again and wouldn't be surprised if this place was awarded a star very soon.

Our taxi dropped us on the riverside but the entrance is on the other side just a ls a pointer for others. This place has come on since we visited the earlier much smaller venue. Excellent restaurant area which has a quality feel and they are certainly holding their own on the food. We came with our 2 daughters on a Saturday for the tasting menu. We had a great table looking over the river. Service by the young staff was efficient and friendly. Our daughters loved the Japanese milk bread as everyone seems to mention.. all the courses were lovely with favorites being the Mushrooms and also the sole. Slightly disappointed on the duck but that is being very critical.. overall very happy with the experience.

We had a fabulous meal, we had the taster menu and I can’t fault anything. The fish was my partners favourite and mine was the pasta but it really was all delicious. The service team were also brilliant just the right amount of attention. We would definitely recommend and return if in the area.

Amazing from start to finish. We used a voucher for the tasting menu that we’d been given as a wedding gift having never been before and were blown away. The service is great, not too overbearing but informative and attentive. The food was 10 out of 10, every single course! The bread…out of this world. So good we had to take a loaf home! Highly recommend. We can’t wait to come back again. Thanks all!

We had an amazing 5 course tasting menu at the bar for New Years Eve. Every course was excellent, and the festive cocktails we had were lovely. They also catered well for our dietary requirements.

Not many places in Shrewsbury offer a taster menu, but @thewalrusrestaurant has built a reputation for its culinary creativity in recent years. With a chic bar area for cocktails and an intimate restaurant space, diners are treated to a cozy atmosphere, with some tables overlooking the river. ⭐️4.5/5 Recommended👍🏻 Price 💸💸/💸 The meal began with delightful amuse-bouches designed to tantalize our taste buds. The light crispy pastry encasing smoky, soft beef tartare was a standout! Bold, flavourful, and utterly captivating. It certainly set the tone for the feast ahead. Next came the pumpkin bread with a pillowy-soft center beneath a perfectly baked crust served with miso-infused butter. **Starters** Porcetta: The first starter featured thinly sliced herbed Porcetta, capers, and a hint of citrus, combining to create a refreshing and harmonious dish. This dish divided opinion with one of us raving about the flavour combinations and the other left unsure. Mushroom: The second starter showcased the earthy taste delightful texture of mushrooms and potato in a rich, indulgent sauce. The exquisite morels added depth and elegance to this satisfying course. **Mains** Sole: The first main course was a medley of bold flavors and textures. Grilled lemon sole, English asparagus cooked to perfection paired beautifully with brown shrimp and the crunch of toasted hazelnuts. The hollandaise sauce provided richness, but a lemony curd like accompaniment felt unnecessary and the whole dish slightly over-salted for our taste. Dry Aged Duck: The second main brought duck served two ways complemented by tamarillo. Tamarillo, something you don’t often see and reminiscent of sweet peach plus butternut squash, parsnip, beetroot, and carrot slivers. While the duck had the desired layer of fat this could have benefited from more rendering, the flavours however were intriguing and enjoyable. **Desserts** Rhubarb & Custard: For those less inclined towards sweet deserts, this offered a perfect balance: vibrant orange cream, fresh tart rhubarb pieces, rhubarb sorbet, and meringue tiles. Carrot & white chocolate: Delicious!

The fine dining experience done well. 5* service and hospitality. Delicious cocktails at the bar before we were led to our table. Very chilled atmosphere and decor, spotless. We had the 3 course meal; each dish a splendid explosion of well balanced delicate flavours. A reasonable price and I would say worth every penny. A luxurious treat!

We booked here after our small intimate wedding with our friends, having our table not ready on arrival - On time, that was our first issue. Our wine flight didn’t come out with the course - and we waited for our ordered drinks also, another issue. When my dear friend asked for wine - she was rudely told we need to “be quiet and quickly” We had been laughing and high spirits - I had just got a final cancer clear and it was our wedding day. We hadn’t raised voices, swore or anything to affect the customers or staff. We left, we went around to another local business over looking …the riverside 🙂 and nothing was an issue - The owner gave us champagne and treated us how we should of been. Avoid.

What a fantastic place. This was recommended by the guys a Ludlow distillery and it was great. Not open every evening so we were lucky. What a great menu, really different to the usual food. Highly recommend it. 5 stars

Visiting Ludlow with friends and called to book a table for breakfast on a Sunday at 11am. Thankfully they accepted our booking for 7 people, albeit outside. We arrived on time to find the place incredibly busy and our table wasn’t ready. All of the staff were really friendly and apologetic, and they did get us a better outdoor table within about 10 minutes. We weren’t able to order food until about 11:30, and it was 12:15 before our order arrived. The food quality was excellent and the staff constantly checked-in on us and couldn’t apologise enough for the delay. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t have booked if we had known how long we would need to wait. Also, being by the river and outdoors, the wasps were a constant nuisance. Great location, great staff and delicious food, but a 4-star experience overall.

Visited here for Sunday morning brunch, following a recommendation from our holiday let. We hadn't thought to book a table and they were very busy. However the staff were kind enough to move around tables and find us a place. They have a great menu and the service is very good despite how busy they were. I had the best salmon in a long time. The price point is also very reasonable, given the location and views next to the river. Would highly recommend a visit.

Breakfast restaurant
The Birds Nest is a beloved cafe located in the historic Shrewsbury Market Hall, which has been a part of the town since 1965. The cafe is known for its great food, coffee, and vibrant atmosphere with consistent quality and good vibes. It offers a variety of breakfast, lunch, and coffee options using locally sourced ingredients in a street food style. The Market Hall itself houses various food and drink spots that produce fresh cuisine.
While exploring the charming Shrewsbury Market Hall, we found ourselves drawn to its array of global food stalls—ranging from Asian to Mediterranean, and of course, classic British fare. Among all the enticing options, The Birds Nest immediately stood out. Nestled in the corner of the ground floor, you can’t miss it—the mouthwatering aroma hits you before you even spot the bustling crowd. We ordered the Full English Breakfast and The Veggie Beast, and both were absolutely delicious—hearty, fresh, and packed with flavor. Our meal was perfectly complemented by a cup of coffee and a rich hot chocolate. Every bite hit the spot. What made the experience even better was the exceptional customer service. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always had a smile on their faces. It’s clear they care about both their food and their customers. As you can tell from my nearly spotless plate—highly recommended! A must-visit if you’re in Shrewsbury and craving a memorable brunch.

I stopped by The Bird's Nest in the Shrewsbury Indoor Market and tried their mushroom burger—and it seriously exceeded expectations. The highlight was the battered oyster mushrooms in buffalo sauce, tucked into the bun. They were crispy on the outside, tender inside, and coated in just the right amount of tangy, spicy sauce. It gave the burger a real kick without overpowering the other flavours. Everything was well balanced—the bun was soft yet held together nicely, and the overall quality of the ingredients really stood out. The service was just as impressive. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed and welcoming vibe that made the whole experience even better. You can tell they care about both the food and their customers. It’s a proper gem in the market, and I’ll definitely be heading back.

I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere of this place the friendly staff, the delicious drinks and food. I often visit and also order takeaway from time to time. However, what I witnessed today has completely changed my impression of this establishment. One of the chefs accidentally dropped a piece of bread on the floor and then simply picked it up and placed it back on the plate. I was honestly shocked to see this. If the company’s policy is to “work with zero waste”, then perhaps it would be better to have a closed kitchen so that customers are not exposed to such situations.

Lovely cozy place, it’s my second time at it and will definitely return. Starters were good, but completely overshadowed by both the monkfish green curry and the pan fried sea bass. Those dishes had it all, flavour, fragrant and complexity, but also fresh. For desserts the cheesecake was a massive surprise. Will definitely be back.

Sensational. Every element has been perfectly parcelled together; the flavour, aroma and texture were unbelievable. Honestly not had a meal like this. Wow. You can taste the passion gone into making these plates. The team serving could not do enough to accommodate you and did a wonderful job looking after everyone, everywhere at the same time. The quality and efficiency with personable nature is what will keep people coming back again and again, who wouldn't want to be looked after by such lovely people? The atmosphere was magical. The smell of whats cooking, watching plates be delivered to surrounding tables and feeling temptation by every offering on the menu. There was a real charm with the decor, a nod to authenticity and this warmth as though you were being looked after with aunty's home cooking but with the delivery of Michelin star quality. Visiting Again? 😋 Yes Please

The staff are wonderful, the place is lovely and clean (hygiene rating of 5) and it felt very comfortable. We had the prawn toast and pork balls to start, which were delicious. The prawn toast was unlike any I've ever had. Super crispy, fresh and moist. For our mains we had the beef pad krapow (off the specials board) and the prawn pad thai. The beef was stunning, beautiful flavours with tender beef and a touch of heat - perfect! To end we had the fried ice cream (had to give it a go) and the lemon and lime cheesecake. The cheesecake was so creamy. We will definitely book a table next time we come ❤️ Thank you so much for such a wonderful dining experience 💕

What a find! We ate here with family whilst visiting the area. Everything was just perfect! The food was absolutely amazing as was the service. The best Thai food I have had! Will definitely be returning when we visit the area again.

Nestled in the heart of England, Wild Shropshire Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience steeped in history and local traditions. Located in Whitchurch, this Michelin Guide restaurant prides itself on terroir-led, micro-seasonal dishes that are created daily based on the freshest ingredients available from artisan producers and local growers.
Absolutely amazing experience! Never had a tasting menu where we've enjoyed every single course until coming here. James seems to really care about the customer experience and is obviously very passionate about the food that he cooks - understandably so! Jo was also amazing and really helped to make our evening worth remembering with some great wine recommendations. Can't wait to come back and would recommend to anyone!
Megan L — Google review
This was from last November. The food that James produced was outstanding! Along with Jo the sommelier and the wine pairings it made this visit incredible. What makes it more interesting is that you haven't got a clue what's going to be on the menu!
Jason D — Google review
Just amazing. Perfect level of attentiveness from staff, atmosphere pitched just right between quiet and noisy (enjoyed listening to post-OK Computer era Radiohead all night!) and the food was incomparable. Every dish was a new and surprising adventure for the tastebuds. Never would have picked Whitchurch as a culinary hotspot but Wild Shropshire is single-handedly making it so.
Neil A — Google review
Relaxed dining with very exceptional food. James Sherwin has built a tasting menu with an abundance of local ingredients which is lovely to experience.
James is super friendly and passionate about food and you can get a real taste of that in the Wild Shropshire. Set in a building that looks like it could have been an office or shop building previously with a relatively small looking kitchen it does not look to be a place to experience the level of food it delivers. Should easily be deserving more praise from places like the Michelin guide. Haute cuisine without the faff. No overbearing wait staff at something like Restaurant Gordon Ramsay or dress codes like The Ritz. Feels homely and British, but with a level of finesse much higher than a gastropub. It is definitely worth a stop (if you’re able to get a table!) Food was ever so slightly heavy with the oniony flavours, but it was brilliant nonetheless.
My only concern on sustainability is the price. I think this place might be too cheap! I hope they are able to stay profitable with the pricing as in 2023 the UK’s top restaurants are well past £100 a head (plus drinks and service, eg >£10 a course). Wild Shropshire charges £45 a head for a 7/8 course lunch and only about £20 more for dinner. Their drinks are very moderately priced as well as being super tasty. Will love to go back and gladly pay more for the privilege again. As a side note make sure you figure out where to park before heading up if you are driving. There is a public car park before the restaurant and if you miss it you have to go in a bit of a circle on a one way route to get back.

Amazing experience - as a blind tasting menu I was nervous and excited. Put my trust in James and he delivered! Delicious local food, including things I would never normally choose which surprised me. Would definitely recommend without hesitation.

I visited this restaurant to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The food was amazing, with a variety of flavours and textures. We’ve loved everything and James was really nice explaining the dishes and answer my questions 😃. Wonderful staff. We will visit again.
Raquel P — Google review
A great restaurant and had the pleasure of meeting James. No menu, and it was a guessing game to work what you had, very different. At the end of the meal we were given the menu. I won't spoil what we had but photos show the quality. Next time we're in Shropshire we will definitely be back
Phil E — Google review
A very different experience but loved every minute. Its very strange to taste food that you haven't a clue what it is other that your own taste buds, you get the menue at the end of the 9-10 tasting courses. They get better and better as you get through them. Value for money 10. Will every one like it all? Depends but very good value for the money .

I tried the mixed vegetable pancake because the hazelnut and cheese sauce sounded interesting and taste is important to me. It was delicious! The portion size isn't huge, but fine for a light lunch and the price was very reasonable. I'd definitely go back if ever I find myself in Ludlow again.

An accidental discovery, but a proper gem worth seeking out...we came back both days we were in Ludlow. Lovely coffee and a properly cooked breakfast. Porridge wasn't on the menu, but some was soon rustled up. Top marks. I wholeheartedly recommend this small cafe.

What a lovely little place. We only went in for hot drinks and snacks, but very impressed. Service was good and staff were friendly and helpful. They accommodated our young ones with the hot drinks they requested, and the honey cupcakes were delicious. We love our annual visit to Ludlow, and look forward to returning to the Pea Green cafe again.

Food is absolutely delicious, me and my husband have really enjoyed our food we had ,highly recommend definitely will order again

Can't get orders sorted correctly and seemingly unaware of how to actually cook chicken so it doesn't make the customer ill. Edit for the owner considering I can't directly reply but I was in just over an hour ago where our order was meant to consist of chikenballs duck chow mein chips and egg fried rice, we ended up getting two portions of chips one of which was so overcooked they couldn't be eaten, half the chicken balls were red and raw inside and very chewy chicken, I've also previously enquired about there whole chicken and was essentially told not to order due to " blind taste testers said it wasn't fully cooked" good job giving out half cooked chicken, Second update because the owner keeps trying to say this is a fake review but why would I call back when things are constantly messed up we've just gone elsewhere and had a much better experience
Brandon D — Google review
Food was 10/10 customer service was absolutely brilliant the guy who took my order was lovely and had impeccable manners and customer service. I will be ordering from here again as it’s the only Chinese takeaway in Shrewsbury I’ve found after a year of living here that’s actually nice tasty and great value for money. All round great experience and I can say I’m a very happy customer

Great restaurant. We got there just before closing and they still were happy to serve us. The food was fresh and delicious, with very generous portions at a good price. Highly recommended.

Portion sizes are a little small for certain dishes such as the sweet and sour chicken (not balls). But other than that prices are reasonable and food is well cooked and tasty. Service is reasonably quick and friendly.

3 hours for delivery ruined our evening plans. Every time you call they just add more time to the delivery. Too late in the evening to call and order from somewhere else. Why continue to take orders when you cant meet the demand. Then when it arrived it had stuffed missing and was barely warm weve spoken to them 5 times throghout the night and they still tried to claim they attempted to contact us about mossing items clearly a lie. Such a shame because its normally a decent place

Much better than the other Telford option. Very comfortable seats although quite chilly in the Cinema itself. Noticed that some people took blankets which is a really good idea 🙂
Grant J — Google review
Waste of money. The seats are very comfortable and we come here often, but i cannot help but feel we should have been offered a refund. Visited today with my daughter who was excited. No hot food, not allowed any dispensable drinks, no ice blasts, not allowed millions dispenser sweets, not allow pick and mix sweets, not allowed popcorn, was only allowed to purchase bottled drinks!! Due to a boiler being broken, i understand how it may affect hot food but dispensable ice drinks? Refillable drink machine? Pick n mix? Apparently because they cannot wipe the machines with hot water to clean them, whats wrong with anti bacterial wipes, spray and cloth/towel? What a waste of money, very disappointing. Takes away the whole cinema experience!
Nikita S — Google review
I would like to thank your very attentive staff for their friendliness and consideration when my friend and I came to see Downton Abbey. My friend uses a walker and needs assistance so I called in on Saturday to ask some questions and book our tickets. The lady who helped me and answered my questions was really lovely. When we came in Monday the young man checking tickets very kindly showed us to the screen and helped us parking the walker. He was very helpful and approachable. My friend doesn't go to the cinema often because of limited mobility but she will certainly go again now particularly as the seating was extremely comfortable too.
Elaine53 — Google review
Extremely comfortable seats much comfier than my local Shrewsbury one. Lost a star though due to realy poor selection of Ice cream and chocolate, and only 1 selling tickets and serving. Shame though otherwise would have been great.
Kevin B — Google review
Zero stars , Not a great experience for my 15 year old daughter who was rudely spoken too by one of the staff ( Ginger Phil ) , she was asked for ID to watch a 15 film and when she said she didn't have anything Ginger Phil's tone changed and he shouted well you ain't getting in so you have to leave, my daughter tried to explain but he wouldn't listen to her , she then called me upset and I came to sort the issue out with a manager as ginger Phil had already left , after speaking with the manager who was very helpful my daughter was allowed in , I believe Ginger Phil needs to take more customer service training as one of his colleagues mentioned to me he is a problem and it's not the first time he's acted this way .😡
Stuart M — Google review
Best cinema around the west midlands area that I've been to. I watched a film in Isense (screen 6) and the screen was crystal clear and the sound was what impressed me the most with clear high and mids but also with a lot of deep bass. The recliners are also a extra on top of all of that making the higher ticket prices more forgivable although I think £21 for a adult ticket is still a little too much. Had an absolute blast here highly recommended!
Simon C — Google review
All seats are recliner, usual food and drink are available as well as alcoholic. There is a Costa coffee and a giant millions pic n mix. If live close and go often get the limitless plus as this means everything movie wise is included for £20. Literally need to watch 2 films to break even. Car park is pretty big but if a popular film let's out everyone is paying their parking at what seems to be the only pay point. This can make leaving a bit of a wait.

Wild Street Kitchen, run by the dynamic duo Warwick and Zach, is revolutionizing the food truck scene with their commitment to deliciousness and sustainability. Their eye-catching black, white, and neon pink van stands out at festivals, serving up hot meals that are not only affordable but also crafted from locally sourced ingredients. They embrace seasonal changes in their menu by foraging for fresh produce whenever possible.
I cannot recommend wild street kitchen enough for their events catering. They did canapés, day time food and evening food for our wedding. They were super quick with serving which helped the day run as smoothly as possible. They were so chilled and so accommodating with our guests requirements. They were great throughout the whole booking process also. Not forgetting to mention how incredible the food really is. Multiple guests said it was the best burger and loaded fries they have had. we had all positive feed back from all guests regarding the food but also how lovely the guys were which I totally agree with! Thank you all again :)

We have had the most delicious food from Wild Street Kitchen multiple times at The Griffin and Llanbenwch! The food is always incredible quality and has amazing flavours unlike anything else I have eaten. The venison steak is absolutely to die for!

OMG eat here if you like wild boar and venison, hell eat here if you've never tried it!!!! These guys are absolutely phenomenal at what they do!!!! They literally cook to perfection and would give more than a few master chefs a run for their money! As if that weren't enough they're customer service is exceptional as well, they treat everyone like they're friends or family!!!! But I digress because again the food is top notch and cooked to perfection I had the no steaks about it (sorry if that's the wrong name) venison steak fries and upgraded them to wild, chefs kiss!!! Then of course I had to go back for the wild boar hot dog with wild fries and again they didn't disappoint!!! I can not praise them enough for such phenomenal food and service!!! Definitely following them on Instagram and looking forward to having them again the next time we make it to the area!!! ☺️

I have had Wild street kitchen multiple times now from the van in Kerry and also from the food festival in Shrewsbury. Honestly it is the most amazing food going and such good value! One thing I would love to see is having the Boar Belly as a side. Last night me and my friend had a burger and fries each (the juiciest and most perfectly cooked burger) and a boar belly with fries as well, but we would have loved to be able to add boar belly to our fries with our burger rather than have another set of fries. just an idea? Please keep coming back to the Newtown area!

Bought a Porchetta for a meal with friends, already dressed and flavoured with wild garlic. It was 💥💥💥. Also bought some sausages and steak which were fantastic. We will be visiting next week for our weekly meat shop. Wonderful customer service too, couldn’t be any more helpful.

Warwick and his team were absolutely fantastic at providing a top class service for our wedding! They pulled out all the stops to be there with just 3 days notice after we were let down by another vendor and relieved a huge amount of stress for us. The food was absolutely delicious and all of our guests are still raving about how tasty it was. They were accommodating to our guests preferences and super friendly and helpful. Would highly highly recommend for all events! Thank you again guys you’re amazing!!

Wild Street Kitchen are brilliant! They catered a family event for us and the food was amazing! From the first enquiry they were so helpful and friendly. Albrecht found this cafe on the upper deck of the indoor market. Excellent spot for breakfast. Breakfast £8.95, £11.95 for the big. Really good quality. Nice spot and great service.

The toasties were a quite expensive considering it was a small portion with no sides, compared to some of the meals which were only a small amount of money more. But apart from that the atmosphere was lovely and it was a gorgeous Place. :)
Honey M — Google review
Whilst the service was excellent, the feel and atmosphere was good, the food was a bit of a curiosity. We ordered late breakfast time, they serve the breakfast baps all day it seems, but when our food arrived it was very strange to see half a red onion, some green leaves and 7 ready salted crisps on the side. We noticed after we ordered that all are served with salad and crisps which we find very odd on a breakfast item. The breakfast bap was 9.50 and had multiple sausage, bacon, hash browns and a fried egg, for 4.45 the bacon bap was a bit disappointing, 2 slices of quite fatty stringy bacon. On the whole we really enjoyed the place, but the food was 1 happy guest and 1 bit disappointed guest. But we will recommend to people.

We spent five days In Ludlow last week, tried a few of the pubs in the town centre, so disappointing, little more than soulless eating places. The next night we tried the Unicorn, what a find, a proper pub selling great beers, served by friendly staff. The whole place has retained it's 17th century feeling, lots of beams and charm. While they don't do meals, there are filled rolls on offer, and on the Thursday nights they put on a cheese and cracker evening, buy a pint and help yourself to a large array of cheeses, crackers, pickled onions, etc, but be quick, they disappear quickly. Thank you to the staff for being so friendly.

This used to be a great chippy but it's obviously been taken over by new management. Food is now ok but not great, prices increased but more importantly corners are being cut. Today I was given my food in a different box to the normal ones used for food. A thin folded brown box that when the server added salt and vinegar it ran out of the sides. Walking up the street I nearly lost half the food as the corners of the box are just folded up with nothing holding them together. Obviously not designed with this kind of food in mind and anyone with a bit of sense could see they are not suitable.
Kevin S — Google review
Very disappointing experience. The fish was literally swimming in oil, and the fries were far from fresh – they seemed to be kept in a container, waiting to be served as soon as a customer arrives, which meant they were cold, greasy, and some even dry. I also ordered fried chicken pieces, which turned out to be dry and cold. Overall, the fish was oily, and both the fries and chicken were not fresh. To make matters worse, the staff was unfriendly.
Aniadudzic D — Google review
Worst fish and chips I’ve ever tried. Fish was dry and either left standing for hours or overcooked. Chips had been refried several times. On the plus side, the mushy peas were nice and the pepsi max was cold! The managers reaction to any negative comment is hilarious. Read the other reviews for entertainment!! I did not eat the food, the photo is of the food I left -virtually the whole portion. Hey ho. I am an honest reviewer, if they can’t take criticism they should cook nicer food 🤣

Don't normally have fish and chips but thought i would for a change. Ordered the cod and chips value meal with mushy peas to take away. Service good but......peas that intense a dark green that it is bleeding obvious there is a ton of colouring in there and tasted like a load of sugar in them too. Horrible. Fish batter soggy, chips nothing to write home about. Left half of it, poor, poor quality. Will never go there again

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Jones Fish & Chips in Newport, Shropshire is a local favorite known for its friendly staff and well-cooked fish, chips, and meats. The generous sauce portions and reasonable prices make it a great value for money. While there may be some mild stress in the atmosphere during peak times, the overall cleanliness and efficiency of service are commendable. Despite the small queues outside during busy hours, the staff manages to handle orders promptly.
Jones catered for a party of 23 for a village quiz night all delivered fresh hot and on time. Food was delicious can’t fault them highly recommended.

Used to LOVE Jones chipshop. Would make detour just for chicken and chips or fish and chips. Sadly today, awful. I think the chicken breast was the one in the warming display area, which was put back in the fryer to warm through. Absolutely inedible. Over cooked, dried up so much I really couldn't eat it. Mingy tiny portion of chips with it AND over charged by 20p too. Real shame as the gentlemen fryer is so lovely but I thought today really let it down. Sadly I will never return 😢

Me and my daughters. Favourite chip shop in Shropshire not just Newport. Great staff the man who owns it still dose the cooking. And he always used to give my daughters a few chips while we waited. Its the little things like this. That keep Positivity in the Community. There is still good people out there. And amazing food.

Sadly the only chip shop left in Newport. I keep going in the hopes it will be better but alas, no improvement. Poor quality food, cold food, poor quality and undercooked batter, usually items missing from orders and very expensive for what it is.

Just had a lovely chippy tea from this chip shop, the fish was beautiful and so we're the chips, nothing was too much, lovely service with a smile, highly recommend 👌😁

Nestled in the Mile Oak Industrial Estate, Munchies Diner is a delightful spot that promises a warm and inviting atmosphere. Recently revived after a long hiatus, this charming diner welcomes guests with friendly smiles and an array of delicious options. Patrons rave about the generous portions and cozy booth seating, making it an ideal place to enjoy breakfast or lunch. The attentive staff, including standout team members like Callum and Paul, ensure that every visit feels special.
It's good to know that this diner is up and running again. The last time I was here must be 12 years ago, so when I was in the vicinity and saw the lights on, I decided to stop and go in to see what it's like again. A warm, friendly welcome, and my breakfast order was soon served at my comfy booth type seating area. Cheers to Callum and Paul for a great breakfast and service. Definitely will be back, and if you haven't been here before, do pop round. A proper "Diner" is very rare nowadays, but this one is a real treat!!

It was a nice breakfast room. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. Also very nice that the white beans in tomato sauce are served in a separate bowl instead of on your plate. That is really nice. So all in all a super breakfast place

Came here for a full English breakfast, great portion size of really good quality food. Served piping hot and very quick friendly service. Would definitely return Excellent value for money especially given the quality of the food
David M — Google review
Very nice traditional diner, offering English breakfast menu as well as a few other classics (sandwiches, panini, jacket potato, omelettes, fish and chips, burger and chips). Food is pretty decent; full English has it all (except fried bread). Quick and hot food, served by friendly staff. Closed around two years ago or so but been under new management now for around a year, going strong and steady! Run by a friendly local chap. Limited free-to-use parking outside. Wheelchair accessible. Toilet facilities present.

Stayed at the primer inn around the corner to this place, the breakfast here was far better cooked and much better quality of food. A warm welcome and very friendly. Will be definitely using again when in wales on the motorbikes. Oh and the prices are good too 😎

Philpotts Shrewsbury is an award-winning sandwich retailer located in the charming 15th century Abbotts House on Butcher Row. The shop offers a wide variety of freshly made sandwiches, baguettes, salads, and gluten-free options. Customers praise the friendly staff and accommodating service for those with dietary restrictions. With a comprehensive menu of fillings to choose from, including gluten-free choices, Philpotts is known for its quality and value for money.
I won’t lie, after reading the reviews of this place I was a tad worried that I may be greeted with very unfriendly staff here. However experienced the complete opposite! Possibly they have ridden of the bad staff? The warm welcoming was wonderful, 3 very cheery and happy staff behind the counter when I visited on Saturday. This was my first time visiting, the menu is huge! You could honestly buy a sandwich from here every day of the year and have something completely different each time. There is SO much to chose from! I was very overwhelmed by the amount of choice and the staff were very patient with me which I appreciate - they were even throwing in some recommendations to help decide. I chose a New York deli sub and it was Devine! Such fresh ingredients, soft and plushy bread; I absolutely loved it. Will definitely be going back here to try many many of their other options on the menu. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a delicious salad/hot or cold sandwich or sub. YUM!
Shannon D — Google review
I had a great quality sandwich, fair price I think. 3 tables to sit outside in the sun which is nice. Knocked a star off as even though I was the only person in line I felt a bit rushed to make a choice and then once I was sat outside the lady on the till was shouting something about an outstanding order, didn't enjoy her every now and then shouting into what I presume was the kitchen. Sandwich made up for it.
John S — Google review
This shop is lovely and the lady on the till was lovely. We had a sandwich and a wrap. The ingredients were good but the problem is the wrap was overfilled with messy chicken in mayo. It wasn't wrapped properly and everything just spilled out and there's literally too much filling for a wrap so it was really unpleasant to eat to be honest. Just put less in the wrap, so it actually wraps and people eat it without everything falling out and it disintegrating.
Amanda P — Google review
Firstly I have to say the quality of the food was excellent and fair pricing too, I purchased several items one of which was a baguette which was well presented and wrapped neatly and tasted great. Howver the staff were sullen, seemed more interested in each other than the customers and with the exception of one male staff member all seemed utterly miserable. Something that isn't good although I did find amusing was when I was asked what bread I wanted, I asked fro granary only to be told they only had cheese topped rollls, so if that was the case why ask me🤔🤔
Mark B — Google review
Started college last week, and I’ve been popping in most days. Seem to have befriended a lad called Mitchell and he’s a great guy, funny hilarious and cute. Food is great, especially with mitch’s touch 😋.
Hugo M — Google review
Went in for lunch with a friend and have to say that I was severely disappointed with the experience. The atmosphere when I entered felt very hostile and the man who made my sandwich was unpleasant and made me feel like an intruder, not a customer. The food itself was disappointing for the price. Overly cooked bacon crumbs and no real flavour to it. The staff in general seemed bored and hostile with the exception of a young man with curly hair who served my friend. After hearing many good things I was left unhappy and unwilling to return in future.
Morgan H — Google review
Served by a very handsome and polite man named Mitch, he sorted me right out with the best corned beef/onion/sundried tomato sandwich i have ever encountered. 10/10 would recommend

Who doesnt love a good fry-up?! I went for the large breakfast, I was actually quite surprised at how quickly it came but it was cooked exactly how I wanted and tasted great. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the friendly staff and was instantly offered a coffee. It's a nice spacious cafe, well lit, warm and welcoming (since it's Winter). Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

I had a late all day breakfast, the tomatoes looked like they were the days leftovers, I followed with a scone jam and cream the small tub of roddas cream arrived with the lid removed and half the cream gone, again someone's left overs I asked what's happened to the lid too; then after putting the jam and cream on the hot scone I took one bite the cream was off it was awful ; but it was replaced by a peice of stale cake which I left after one bite too . I shall never go there again . 🤢
Glynis B — Google review
No wonder my mum raves about this place! There seems to be a lot of choice on the menu at reasonable prices. I only had a large breakfast but it was cooked quickly and presented well. Guy who served me was very pleasant too.

What a find! I'd never been when it was down an alley by the main car park but since it's been on the main Street I've been 3 times and really like it. I've not had a meal yet but had tea/coffee and crumpets/scones etc but the quality was really good and the prices were also really good. Staff friendly also. Can't fault anything so far.
Steve W — Google review
Just a very basic cafe, extracter fan clearly not working room was full of greasy smelling steam, need to look at quality of food as what was advertised on the wall was clearly nowere near the actual food, also its very minor but I didn't feel as though I could ask for an exchange on all my peas being brown as I'm sure I'd get the same back, I would happily come back if the above issues were resolved

We went to oswestry yesterday and asked a lady where the cafes were. We had parked at the top of Oswald Road before the traffic lights She directed us to Cross Street. We seen Scotty's Cafe first, looked decent, easy access and good prices. My mate said we'll check out the rest. So we turned right at the red bricks, up the hill and turned right down the hill. The rest are all expensive tea rooms. Must be for the tourists Turned right and walked a few yards to the lights again and decided on breakfast. Before eleven it's a fiver. We ordered, sat down and within a couple of minutes the tea 🍵 had landed. A few minutes later The Breakfast arrived. I wish I had taken a 📸, mind you smellovision hasn't been invented yet ;a shame. Hash browns that melt in your mouth. I normally save the best till last but their yumminess got the better of me. Black pudding not bad, sausages better. Bacon 😋 delicious. Saved a bit for the end. Oops forgot about the white toast Proper butter melted spreaded easy. Perfect for mopping up. Beans, fried egg dead on. Dunk some toast in the black tea, oh yeah. Time to start clearing the plate. Last bit of the bacon, mopping up what's left of the beans and egg. Fold the second slice of toast, for the final mopping up to save water on washing up. Neck the last of the 🍵. Alive at last and ready for anything. The only place to be, every visit to oswestry. Many Thanks from Stewart and Paul.

Worst place I've ever eaten! The kebab was dry and tasteless. Fries dried out. My stomach hurt a lot after eating it. I wonder if this is a safe place to eat. When we asked for salt, the service said there was none and we had to buy it in the store.
Anna Z — Google review
The chips are the best - golden and not soggy. Took a star off service as they gave me the coffee straight away but had to wait while they cooked the Haddock and the coffee had cooled down by the time the fish was ready - I'll know next time to ask for the coffee for when the fish is cooked. Definitely worth stopping if you're passing on the A41

Consistently excellent food, every time. The chips are crispy and golden, the batter on the fish is to die for, and the curry sauce was just top notch! I had haddock and it was huge. I can't actually give you enough stars because this chip shop is so, so good!!
Joe A — Google review
Really disappointed that the prices continue to increase regularly but the quality of the food has taken a massive hit. Fish today was more like minced you’d get in a fish cake. It was also full of bones. Everything was overcooked - nuggets, burger, the fish was absolutely full of grease and the mushy peas were basically like water. And increasing the service charge on takeaways? Service charges are for when you’re providing a waiting on service…

Came about this place randomly, I saw Fish & Chips on Google Maps while on way home from a day out and I was starving! This place has Amazing Chips aswell as a massive menu of other things, Fish, Pies, Pasties, Pizza and more with Box Set Meals too, It also has a shop stocked with all your convenience need stocked high from bog roll, milk, bread, to beer, There is also a small bar at the back and a small restaurant at the front.

Cottams Fish & Chips is a charming chip shop that boasts a clean and inviting interior, making it an appealing spot for a casual meal. The menu features classic fish and chips, served with mushy peas, although some diners have noted that the portion sizes can be on the smaller side. While the flavors are generally enjoyable, there have been comments about the chips being slightly greasy at times.
Photo doesn’t do it justice as it’s late, but best fish n chippy about. fish is white and fresh
Kirsty D — Google review
Nicely set out chip shop, looks clean inside which is always a good thing. Ordered fish and chips with mushy peas, which is quite a bit more than what I pay for the size, but maybe it's because of the location. The portion size was a little on the small side but adequate enough. Both the fish and chips tasted decent, with my only gripe being the chips were a little too greasy which affected me during the evening. I noticed I got charged an extra 50p, which after investigation, was for the peas being put in a pot. Now, I don't mind this, but it would be nice to be informed beforehand rather than wondering why you have been charged extra. All in all, decent.
Chukka — Google review
Great value fishand chips. Got a large cod and chips for only £11. Bargain. All cooked fresh in front of me. My only slight criticism would be that the batter on the cod wasn't crispy; just a bit soggy. Still tasted great though.
Iain W — Google review
The easiest way to review this is to say 'average'. Nothing bad, but nothing special. Bland batter and nothing exciting about the chips. I wouldn't say "dont go", but equally not worth a journey if you're not local
Michael — Google review
Never been here before, but won't be going back, ordered my food & paid, then they said they had charged me wrong, I presume for paying by card, they charged me a £1 extra, I've had bigger fish fingers, my small fish I had was tiny, mostly batter, sorry guys I'm only giving my honest opinion of the place, had better elsewhere for the money, people want value for money & this wasn't I'm afraid, another business I'll give a miss when I'm passing with work.
Fell M — Google review
Use this chip shop for convenience due to time between after school activities. But many times my order is wrong and tonight just tops it off. Asked for chicken and chips and ended up with chicken kebab meat and chips which I absolutely loathe. As I pick up the order and go home didn’t find out till I got home which is even more upsetting as I don’t live near the shop.

Lovely flakey tasty fish with a really light batter, no waste. The chips, well, potato is potato after all. Chips were fine. Note, the large portion of cod & chips is basically a normal size portion in any other chippy.

If you want to get food poisoning this is the place to go to be honest. I don’t usually leave a review on a company but this was appalling. Chips were stone cold. Fish had no taste to it and the battered sausage. Well that was something to be seen from a horror movie. Absolutely the worst fish & chips we've ever had. 2 bites and straight in the bin. Even at 1730 hrs, chips had been warmed up from lunch left overs and were dry and tough and the tiny (large) Cod was tasteless but smelled awful. We Googled 'chip shops near us' before driving there and first 3 reviews 'Best chip shop in village' were positive so we gave it a go. Must be the ONLY chip shop in the village to earn them reviews! First time my son & I had tried this deli, disappointing. I ordered the ham, brie, & cranberry pannini but it arrived with no cranberry. My son ordered the ham, goats cheese & olive roll, arrived with no olives! The roll seemed a little stale on one side. Although the owner gave me some very watery cranberry sauce (new jar needed), my son decided it wasn't worth the wait for his order to be corrected as we had an appointment. My pannini was good, but we would like what we order to be as described.
