Cocktail bar
Comedy club
Firebug is a popular hangout spot in Leicester, known for its spacious interior and real ale selection. While it's not primarily a cocktail bar, it offers a solid range of cocktails that suit the venue's vibe. The bar features a small stage upstairs where bands and comedy gigs entertain guests. Open from midday until 4am every day, Firebug caters to both daytime relaxation and lively nightlife.
Comfortable, good Guinness. Great sounding venue upstairs. Beer garden (courtyard) would be super in warmer weather

What to say about this place. Good points first: It's a large pub spread over 2 floors with a bar, pool table, good selection of retro games machines and a dance floor upstairs with a DJ, it has a large fairly decent outside smoking area with cover, a few consoles set-up downstairs to use, didn't try any but they have a large selection of drinks on draught, they have cobs at night for sale and it's open until 4am every night. Bad Points: There are many, staff don't seem to clean up after themselves with rubbish over the back bars and all over the floors, staff have no personality and seem to serve friends first, door staff are very rude and last week they kicked a guy out who then decided to try to hammer the front door and try to break through a window and all they did (3 door staff), was barricade the front door and lastly, this claims to be a rock bar but they played drum & bass Mmm... enough said!I and lastly can't believe how many customers here do coke, its unreal, we saw that many people actually doing coke or selling it it seems natural here.

I only go here because it's the latest place open at the end of a night out (bar Leicester's terrible selection of clubs) or if there's a gig on that I am interested in. I've never particularly liked Firebug with its dark and dingy atmosphere, gross toilets and sticky floors, but have felt especially uncomfortable going there since someone was r*ped in the disabled toilet a couple of years or so ago. A lot of nice and cool people go here but a lot of unsavoury characters too. Generally just has an unnerving vibe. If there was anywhere else remotely tolerable that my friends enjoyed that was open as late and wasn't expensive I wouldn't go to firebug. I do enjoy the top floor though when it open and they have a good DJ on. It sometimes has some good gigs on too and I've heard the food is pretty good.

We hosted a suprise party for my Dad here on Saturday in the upstairs venue and it was everything we could have hoped for and more! The venue itself was beautifully lit which made for a lovely atmosphere, perfect size and every single one of our guests were raving about how brilliant it was. The sound system was amazing and connected easily and seamlessly and sounded brilliant throughout the night. The staff were incredibly friendly and so accommodating for anything we needed - from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The booking process was simple and easy - thankyou Kat for sorting everything for us! The private bar was also a great asset to the use of the venue and again the staff were great. Shout out to the bouncer on the door also who kept our party private! All in all cannot praise the venue and staff enough and we will definitely be back for parties in the future! ❤️

Brilliant for gigs n burlesque shows love the place xx

Firebug constantly excels as a great place to go. I'm on first name basis with some of the workers there. I go Thursdays and Saturdays usually. The front door is not wheelchair friendly. But I'm sure there wouldn't be an issue using the backdoor (if it's late, make sure to contact staff and a bouncer. No sneaking in!) I love the menu and usually treat myself to an FB Messy. The vegan/dairy free options for some cocktails and the milkshakes are great. I can have more treats without risking discomfort. I will continue to give this 5 stars every visit. I've never had a bad time and I've gone fairly regularly for just under a year. They have interesting events, live music, support good communities. The staff are always friendly, and you can see the camaraderie between too. They also have games consoles with TV's to play games. Which along with my tag line, is something I very enjoy.

The culture here is sort of mean. 5 of us come in a Sunday evening and its empty, zero customer. 4 want to order beers and 1 a coffee as she's just finished work. They ran out of coffee. I ask can she grab a mcdonalds takeout and drink it with us before she orders a drink? No, you can't she has to sit outside by herself. So weird when you have zero customers and we were friendly to you. Went to Tonne instead where they were normal and understood basic human interaction

Quiet place at 15:00 on a Friday but that meant we were served quickly. Service was very good and drinks were served at the table. You can see in the photos that the gents are not a very nice place to have to use. Looked like they had not really given it much thought. The sinks look particularly grotty. Food was delicious and so was the wheat beer I had. So definitely a place I will return but will hope they read this and hope they have redecorated the loos by the time I do!

The Marquis Wellington is a charming and historic 18th century pub located near Victoria Park in Leicester. It offers a cozy atmosphere with heated outdoor 'beach hut' booths, making it a popular spot for traditional British dishes, particularly fish and chips. The menu boasts ale battered sustainable fish, mushy peas, tartare sauce, and rustic chips, all of which can be enjoyed alongside a wide range of draught beers or delicious wines.
This is our first visit and we truly enjoyed it! The location is perfect and there are paid parking lanes just outside the pub. Lovely interior and well organised areas to sit for a drink or eat food. On this visit we stayed inside but there's a lovely garden with heated huts! We ordered two chicken burgers that were juicy and a tasty chicken Caesar salad. Every Sunday they serve roasts, amongst regular meals, and children below 12 eat free. This is a lovely gesture and I applaud them for giving back to the local community.

Large pub, very clean feel, nice and warm on a cold day. It was quiet but it was a Monday afternoon. Great range of beers and good music.
Simon B — Google review
This place is 50/50. Cider options are disappointingly limited. Hot drinks are not good; don’t waste your money. Food and beer are generally nice, great ambiance, and that’s why we come here often. However, service is not consistent among staff members. Some can be super warm, efficient and amazing mood makers, and some make you want to cancel the order and leave the place immediately.
Soonyata M — Google review
I attended as part of a small group. The food was nice and arrived quickly. The atmosphere was ok. There is no allocated seating in the pub, so large outside booths were being taken up by single people, meaning large groups were huddled around smaller tables. There was also quite a lot of smoking outside, which wasnt great, although I appreciate I had the option to go inside. All in I would go again.

Been here a couple of times now & found the meals to be good, but a bit pricey. The place is nicely decorated & thete is a good atmosphere. The staff are helpful and friendly.

I visited here recently and thoroughly enjoyed my experience! The service was attentive and the staff are very friendly - Polly and Briony are exceptionally great and very catering, they make you feel very welcome. Very inclusive atmosphere! I can't rate the food as I didn't try any but the menu looks very good, so will be trying next time definitely. This place has a lovely beer garden and a great selection of drinks, overall a very pleasant experience.
Sam P — Google review
Positives first, of which there are several. Staff always pleasant, friendly and attentive. Atmosphere inside and in the garden always good. Drink prices a little high but acceptable. The big negative being price of some of the food ! Cheesy chips for example £8.95 ! Portions being small ! I should have taken a photo so people could make their own mind up….This alone would put me off meeting there with friends to eat !
Andy H — Google review
Absolutely lovely lady behind the bar, best pina coladas ive honestly ever had. Must have had about 6. She made my fella a whole custom cocktail as well and it was delicious. Cannot wait to be back in leicester to visit again!

Queen of Bradgate is a popular brunch spot in Leicester, UK, known for its delightful dishes and friendly service. The venue offers a vegan-friendly British menu, a wide selection of beers, and live music in a casual and funky setting. Additionally, the establishment has reopened with great offers including Foodie Mondays and Tapas Tuesday. It's also dog-friendly, making it an ideal place to enjoy craft beers and cocktails alongside classic pub food while your furry friend is welcome to join you.
Went to this pub whilst waiting to go to our bottomless brunch and it was lovely. We sat outside and the vibe was good and people friendly. The cider is scrummy! 😋

Went out with my BF on a date to the movies and found this place after for food. Never been to before but it peeked our interest. We do love trying new places. Though with me being vegan, I do worry sometimes about trying new things from places I haven’t been to before. But wanted to give it a try. He chose the fish and chips and I gave the ‘Wild mushroom risotto’ a go, never had before. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it. It was really nice and had such flavour to it. I’d definitely have it again. We also got pudding, of course. I got the vegan brownie which was so rich and soft, the sorbet with it was so good also. Then my bf got the white chocolate & passionfruit cheesecake which he really enjoyed also. Another thing is that I don’t drink, so finding a place which has fun options also for me is a plus. As I do like to give mocktails a go if I can. I got the ‘painters punch’ and ‘elderflower mint fizz’ both were really good and it’s nice to be able to enjoy a good and fun drink also rather than having a basic option. Also, staff were really kind and fun to be around. Seemed like they were enjoying each other’s company and having good conversations. Thank you to you all!

2025 update Had a fantastic meal here. A really good menu that isn't your normal pub food. Well presented and very, very tasty. Superb service and friendly staff. A bonus too that dogs are allowed. 2024 Dropped in for a pint after a curry with the lads. Excellent service from the bar staff. Good selection of drinks and plenty of cosy seats.
Anthony W — Google review
Great evening there. Good vibe and decent deals on cocktails which we made the most of.
Ian B — Google review
We've been coming here for quite sometime. Unfortunately in recent weeks since their new menu came out, it has significantly gone downhill, which is extremely disappointing as it was one of our favorite go-to spots for lunch/dinner. Many of the menu items seem unfinished and lacking in flavour. Hopefully this place will turn around soon and bring things back to the standard they used to be at otherwise I'll have to find a new pub.
Samuel B — Google review
I enjoy having brunch here. It seems like a good pub. I would really like to see what it is like at night here, so I'm going to come back for that experience. I found food very tasty and customer service was friendly. I found asking to pay immediately for each thing you ordered odd. I think it's better to have one bill at the end of your stay especially as we were seated. Update: I went back at night and it was smashing! I was transported back to a proper Irish pub. Food wise, the burger was very plain.
Olubukola A — Google review
Overall, fine. There's an area upstairs which is quite cosy plus enjoyable with two table tennis if you fancy a game. I haven't tried the food, but it looked appetising.
Hart D — Google review
We booked the upstairs for a private event. Remy and Andy looked after us all night, 65 people that wanted to enjoy a post covid get together and it was great fun. The upstairs has beer pong and ping pong tables for use. There’s a private terrace for those that need regular fresh air, we also had a buffet meal for everyone with both veggie and non-veg options. The food was tasty and fresh and the service was fantastic. Recommended for private parties and events

The Exchange Bar is a community-based venue located in the city center, close to DMU. It's known for its eclectic and inviting atmosphere, hosting live comedy shows, concerts, and private events. The bar has a boho-chic vibe with comfortable sofas and chairs. Situated in Leicester's Cultural Quarter, it resembles New York City's Flatiron Building and offers light snacks like sandwiches, pizza, fries, and burgers along with a variety of hot and cold drinks.
What can I say, Kathryn made our day out so special going above and beyond for us. Drinks selection was amazing and the bar snacks are to die for. Service with a smile and a lovely atmosphere for a romantic night out.

A really cool place for an evening drink, with a lively atmosphere and friendly staff. Also it serves as a coffee shop during the day, so also a great place to come then.

A great place to relax and have something to drink as well as get some very nice Food!! There are some very comfortable Chairs which includes Retro Furniture, it's also a Great Place to destress after Work and also a Great Place to get Food and a Drink before Visiting the Curve Theatre as it's literally a few meters away from the Doors of the Curve Theatre, and The Exchange sits directly in the Center of Leicesters Newly Created Qualtural Quarter, which is an absolutely Amazing place to Visit and another Great Tourist Attraction for anyone wanting to visit Leicester!!
Scott M — Google review
WOW the atmosphere in here was great. pretty quiet for a Saturday night but the music was great and we could've stayed there all night. very cosy seating and lovely decor.
Gemma W — Google review
I don't really go out in Leicester and I am glad that I let myself be talked into it. It was not all nighter or a big drinking session, just a couple of glasses of wine and let's reminisce and change the world type of conversation. And the Exchange perfectly suited this as a venue. Being next to the Curve and near some pedestrianised area it is rather quiet - or was on the Thursday evening when we were there. There is a decent selection of wines, beers and spirits. And not necessarily too expensive either. The street level seating is great, you can see through the windows onto both sides of the building but there is also a huge (well it was a bit dark and hard to see) basement seating area as well.

Stopped here for a glass of wine on New Year's Eve - wonderful bar and deceptively larger than it looks from out side. Lots of tourist awards on display. Great use of old knitting patterns in the ladies toilets! Quirky and comfortable, good mix of people frequenting The Exchange.

Located in the heart of Leicester's city centre, The Locker Room is a vibrant sports bar and grill that guarantees an unforgettable experience for all sports lovers. Open seven days a week, this establishment ensures that you never miss out on any sporting fixtures. Boasting the largest projector in the city and over 25 screens, you will have no difficulty catching all the action.
Decently priced sports bar with multiple overhead TV screens which makes games viewable from every corner of the entire bar. Paid street parking, wheelchair parking and access into the building. There are pool tables upstairs and one pool table downstairs.

Ok student sports bar with the usual basic food & drinks. One to avoid if your tastes don't end with chicken & chips washed down with fizzy lager. Staff are nice though
Stevie B — Google review
I popped in here for a quick drink before meeting friends. Thought I catch some of the IPL cricket given that it's a sports bar!!! Looked around, couldn't see it on anywhere, so as I ordered my drink & asked if they are/ would show the cricket. The servicer muttered something about the guys going to put it on but I don't think she even asked him. As I sat down, none of the screens changed to show it nor did any of the staff seemed bothered. Downed my pint quickly & got out of there. Can see why the place wasn't busy on a Sunday bank holiday evening.
Amar B — Google review
Somehow there doubles taste weaker than standard mixer? It's almost like they use water instead of vodka? Incredibly interesting.... Bar staff are so rude when confronted. This establishment has gone severely downhill in the past year, a real shame.
James M — Google review
Tam the lady who works there is absolutely horrendous with customer service demanding mid game that we end the game and get out. Refusal to serve us at 9.40 when open till 11pm as they were closing apparently
Stuart C — Google review
none of the machines works, bad customer service DO NOT COME HERE, AVOID THIS PLACE
Tom R — Google review
Decent bar, decently priced drinks. There's pool tables upstairs that are fun. But oh god, the food and service was terrible. The servers are really nice, but they don't know the menu well. There was a poster that said unlimited wings Wednesdays, but none of the staff knew anything about it or how to even order it. We ordered two portions of the unlimited wings with buffalo sauce and they charged us for one initially. I asked them to charge us for another as we were two people but they ordered the second one as plain (who has wings without sauce?) and later told me I didn't specify the other one. Even then, the food was horrible and served in aluminium containers. We even had to ask for plates separately. The bathrooms didn't have hot water, soap, paper towels or a working dryer. I was told it's been that way for two weeks now.

Wine bar
Nestled in the vibrant Cultural Quarter of Leicester, Manhattan34 is a hidden gem that transports you back to the glamorous 1920s. This cocktail bar draws inspiration from the secretive drinking establishments of that era and celebrates the end of American Prohibition in 1934. With a talented team of mixologists at the helm, guests can indulge in expertly crafted cocktails ranging from timeless classics like Manhattans and Martinis to unique signature creations.
We hired both floors of Manhattan34 for our reception to celebrate our civil partnership. We had an amazing night, with fantastic cocktails, live jazz and a lively dance floor in the basement. The team were really accommodating, helping us set up in the afternoon as we were providing our own food and decorations. We were able to offer Prosecco to our guests on arrival and drinks tokens at the bar, but were given the option to have bought more drinks in cases (wine, beer etc) if we had preferred. We had a mix of friends and family, from ages 6 months to 70+, and everyone said how lovely the venue was and had a brilliant time. By the end of the night, when most of us were downstairs, the staff were busy tidying up for us upstairs so we didn’t have much to pack away the following day. One of the best things about the venue is that it felt cosy and welcoming and yet we could have 80+ guests without it feeling too crowded. I highly recommend Manhattan34 for your next party!

We hosted a wedding celebration here and hired the full venue for the whole day. The staff were incredible and so friendly and the drinks were flawless. It was a very hot day (30°C outside and felt warmer inside at certain points!) but the bar staff still did an amazing job and kept serving everyone with smiles on their faces and taking real pride in their work. Our guests all commented on how lovely and helpful the staff were and also what a fantastic venue space it was. We had just over 100 guests and it felt nicely busy/atmospheric rather than overcrowded. Can't recommend Manhattan34 enough!

The best cocktail place in leicester city centre! They provide lots of classic options like espresso martini as well as drink with their own twist. Watching the drink being made is a little fun show as well. Very nice place to go to.

No idea what the opening times actually are because they neither match what's on Google, nor what's on the bar (which are inexplicably different) but regardless when I arrived for a quick drink before my train at a time that matched both everything was locked up and the staff member inside waved me away. On paper this seemed like somewhere I would have really, really enjoyed, but if this is representative of the level of customer service....

Cocktail bar
The Bottle Garden in Leicester's St Martins Square is a unique urban cocktail bar with a botanical theme, creating a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city. The interior is adorned with lush greenery, blending natural elements with modern design. Despite England's limited outdoor drinking weather, the bar replicates an open-air garden ambiance. It's a popular spot for Instagram-worthy photos and offers a romantic setting adorned with twinkling lights, making it an ideal location for dates.
First time coming in here and no idea why. Its a more upmarket bar with drink prices, look and clientele to show it. Staff dress smart and were friendly. Me and my friend stood out as having a more rocker look but we were still treated respectfully. Was a Friday night and it was table service, until I go in more (which I will now) i wont know if this is a standard thing. It has another bar and seating area upstairs where the seats can be used if if the upstairs bar is closed. Will update this review as I come here more often.

I and my boyfriend went there to have a soda and a good coffee, well the barista didn’t know a C of how to make a coffee. First they said they can make an iced coffee, then said they don’t have a cup to make it in. Then i asked for a flat white with oat milk, they gave me half filled cappuccino. Then when i said i asked for a flat white, they took the same coffee, removed the froth and gave it to me. HALF CUP. worst service, super confused and untrained staff.

I popped in on a Thursday late afternoon just in time for the happy hour. The bar was calm and quiet with only three tables of customers, including me. More people started to come in at 5pm. Nice drink! I had an old fashioned, woo! The vibe was so laidback and the playlist was great. It was Bee Gees and some other disco songs. Table service, and toilets are upstairs.
Soonyata M — Google review
Got seated outside as no table available inside by the brunette waitress with bangs. Was seated outside 20 minutes waiting for the waitress. In that time, we saw her take 2 tables orders that arrived after us. Their orders arrived swiftly too. I had to chase her to take our order. Was told she would send someone to take our order now. 10 minutes later, after seeing her serve more tables inside and no one else came to take our order, I saw the same waitress glance at my table and roll her eyes. Then she came outside to take our order. It wasn’t a pleasant experience overall as two women of colour. Huge disparity in service and attitude towards us. Would not recommend.

Fantastic bar in the lovely setting of Saint Martin's. They have a great selection of cocktails including non alcoholic. The food represents good value for money, and I recommend the cheese board. They have regular music such as jazz every last Sunday of the month, which is a really nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. It's worth booking though as it can get busy.

On a lovely evening you could sell tickets to sit outside and watch the world go by. Cocktails good and about what I would expect.

Great place to have some drinks. Delicate decoration. Great location. Has a wide variety of drinks including cocktails, mocktails, spirits and soft drinks. Has a little bit of food too. Ideal to go with friends or in a romantic date. Medium price. Has some tablets to sit outside too if you don't want to be indoor

Nestled in the heart of Leicester, Mosh is a vibrant indie rock nightclub that spans three energetic floors, making it a hotspot for students and music lovers alike. Known for its eclectic mix of genres—from pop to dance and indie—Mosh guarantees an unforgettable night out. Open on select nights throughout the week, including Tuesdays and Thursdays, this venue offers fantastic drink deals starting as low as £1.50, allowing you to enjoy your evening without breaking the bank.
Mosh Leicester - every teenagers dream. It's what clubbing used to be like (and I'm 37 at the time of writing this) super fun, great music and reasonably priced drinks - affordable. Went out with cousins & friends to celebrate 18th birthday 🎂 Three dancefloors, with a wide range of music, dance, pop electro upstairs, r&B dril, grime mid floor and rock / alternative downstairs. Great funcky DJs on each floor, who make the crowd feel alive, and vibing with the party.made me feel secure, the security checked everyones ID and metal detectors. The bar staff cleared drinks efficiently and were on top on their game. Friendly barristers and shots that are still priced reasonably! Great location because the taxi can drop you off right outside. Secure outside area - for fresh air. Gender neutral bathrooms - new concept, but worked well. Uni students crowd and some locals too, everyone just vibing together to great music. A refreshing perspective on clubbing in Leicester. Recommended 💫

Google describes Mosh as an indie rock club but that was very much not the vibe when we went on a Friday night...friendly staff though.
Ruth M — Google review
Extremely crowded. So if you cool with the crowd, then Mosh is it. Good music, security personnel are professional and know their job real good. It's a younger crowd, though. The average age, in my opinion, is 21.

Love it here but only on the bottom floor, plays the best music and has less traffic as such because it's not near the smoking areas and has its own toilets. The rest if the place is ok, has very sticky floors and crowded bars, as expected.

Caddyshackers in Leicester is a unique and fun bar that offers crazy golf, virtual darts, shuffleboard, and even axe throwing. The atmosphere is great and the staff are super friendly and helpful. In addition to showing off your putting skills, you can enjoy some delicious drinks and stone-baked pizza. The venue has a variety of activities beyond mini-golf, making it a perfect spot for a night out with friends or family.
Great vibe we did Axe throwing and had so much fun. I scored 420 and my daughter scored 110. Stef was really helpful teaching us the different techniques. Will come again. Thanks guys
Adam D — Google review
My first time at Caddyshackers for minigolf was great! The music is a little loud but the holes are really creative, maybe a little difficult and cramped in places, but definitely fun! The staff were friendly too and held onto our bags behind reception while we played.
Jay T — Google review
We visited Caddyshackers over the bank holiday weekend and were left a bit disappointed! Seems to have gone downhill. We last visited about 3 years ago- they’ve changed the entrance and it was really difficult to find. Needs some more signage internally/externally. When we arrived there was no one around to greet us, someone finally served us and they didn’t realise we’d booked a drinks package and she tried to charge us for drinks. I asked for an Aeperol Spritz and they had no Aeperol. The course itself has shortened since we last visited and the price has pretty much stayed the same with maybe a slight increase. Some of the holes are good - others are quite crammed in. We couldn’t actually see the starting hole so had to ask where this was. The final hole was previously an x rated theme but now toned down- which was a shame as it gave it a unique feel compared with other places. We found it such a maze down there and couldn’t find the exit to leave! Needs more clear signposting and that includes where the next hole is on the course. Overall, we won’t be visiting again. Didn’t feel like the customer service and experience was worth the money.
Rebecca W — Google review
It was my first time going and I had a pretty good time. Initially I thought it was just a mini-golf place that also serves food and drink but they had a variety of activities. They turned their 18-hole golf to 9 holes and used the space to add other games, according to the employee and I have to say it was the right call. Staff were pretty friendly too.
R R — Google review
Third time visiting and the crazy golf course has been downsized since our last visit whilst remaining at the same sort of price. The first 9 holes use to make this a course we recommended to friends in the area but now the course is looking old and tired without the same creativity it use to have. The current 9 looking more tired. Was £15 with a pint so wasn't terrible but will not be a rush back. The space has been used to add electronic darts which looked good fun but did make the golfing experience worst. If you have visited other courses like Golf Fang which are top tier you might be left disappointed but if you just want an hour with friends go for it 👍
Peter S — Google review
Everything about our night at caddyshackers was excellent. Customer service was exemplary. The hosts/workers made us feel valued, and helped with our booking every step. The games are great, golf (the main reason we went there) was actually the least enjoyable (it was still great), but virtual darts and shuffleboard with my wife took us back to the simpler days of just having fun and hanging out. Overall, we will definitely be back and thank the team for making it such an enjoyable night.

We went for an hour of axe throwing and a round of golf, and can honestly say we had a amazing time, the staff was absolutely fantastic with us they treat us so nicely, We will 100% be going again, the experience was amazing, thank you to the team!!!

Super cool venue with 18 innovative holes to play through. Each has it's own theme which pose their own challenges. The only downside was that it's a little expensive but it more than reasonable on a student night. Would definitely go again!

Night club
Event venue
Nestled beneath the bustling streets of Leicester, The Basement is a hidden gem that perfectly captures the essence of a vibrant nightlife experience. This cozy underground venue features exposed brick walls, plush armchairs, and wooden tables adorned with fairy lights and candles, creating an inviting speakeasy atmosphere. Open five nights a week until the early hours, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to unwind with friends over delicious drinks like Long Island Iced Teas or frothy pints.
This is my favourite club, the environment is different to other places and the music is amazing. I always end up in basement on a night out because it stays open until 6 am. A fight kicked off when I was there last time which is inevitable in most clubs but the bouncers immediately sorted it out to ensure the environment was safe for everyone in there. I definitely recommend going to basement to try it out for yourself. You can also pay only £3 to leave your coat and bag in a safe place which is what i did… cheaper than mosh and more of a welcoming atmosphere.
Bosakii — Google review
Me and my partner went here with our mates, it’s ok if you’re an attractive white woman, otherwise stay away. Irregardless of this the bouncers are horribly rude with a major power trip almost looking for a fight. They gave us a hand with something and went to thank them with a handshake and said “we’re not mates don’t think I’m your friend” when all we did was try and thank them. The vibe of the place is overall just creepy, the women that go are treated like objects and overall just a very unsafe creepy feeling place.

The Globe - Pub & Kitchen is a historic establishment in Leicester, dating back to 1720. It has a rich history of serving fine ales and traditional British dishes. The pub's well-preserved ambiance and quality offerings make it a notable presence in the city's hospitality scene. The menu features hearty roasts served with all the trimmings, including Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and rich gravy.
The Globe Pub is a real gem tucked away in Leicester’s city centre, one of the oldest and most historic pubs in the area, and you can feel that character as soon as you step inside. The traditional decor, complete with old school beams in the floors and a classic layout, gives it that timeless, cozy feel. Though the pub is relatively small and can get quite crowded, it’s cleverly divided into different areas with two bars, making it feel like a mini labyrinth of comfort. It’s a great place for couples, friends or even small families to relax and take in the atmosphere. They serve solid pub food, think proper hearty fare, and there are loads of little touches that keep the experience fun and engaging. From Cocktail of the Week to Bring Your Own Records Vinyl Night (every first Tuesday of the month), there’s always something going on. Saturdays from 11 am, they do a “Global Breakfast,” and Thursdays are “Pie Pie” night, order any pie and get a free pint or small glass of wine. Great value and a really fun idea. The pints are very ale focused, which suits the traditional vibe perfectly. If you’re not sure what to go for, they offer tasting paddles so you can sample three different ales in smaller measures, a great way to explore their selection. They also have Blue Moon on tap for something a little different. Wine options are a bit limited, they only had sweet wine available when we visited, so something drier would’ve been welcome, but it’s still a nice visit overall. The Globe strikes a great balance between tradition and community vibe. It’s a charming, character filled spot that adds a lot to Leicester’s pub scene. Highly recommend stopping by.

Beautiful pub, but food was overpriced for a meh taste and small portions. Also took 35min to serve. Go for the drinks, not the food.
Krystal E — Google review
Historical pub in the centre of the old town of Leicester, near the Guildhall and Cathedral. The pub itself also has some history, dating from the 18th century, and the interior is well decorated. I ordered the Steak and Ale Pie for £15.95. The presentation of the dish was a little disappointing - the pie was breaking apart, and simply dumped on top of the vegetables. The pastry of the pie was quite mushy, almost soggy. The mash, greens and steak inside the pie, had very little flavour and were quite bland in flavour, although the texture was satisfying. The gravy was quite nice and full of flavour, however. All the flavour in the dish was provided by the gravy. However, I cannot justify the price given that the dish relies entirely on the gravy for its flavour - you can get better Steak and Ale pies in for cheaper. Service was good. The bartender was friendly and helpful, running through the several options of pies available.

Found this on the off chance, while looking for somewhere to have meal. I wasn't disappointed, the food was fantastic, all local produce and freshly cooked, the portions were just the right. The belly pork was so soft and melted in your mouth, brandy and Stilton mushrooms, were lush and the strawberry and prosecco cheesecake was so light and fluffy. Lovely friendly and welcoming atmosphere, all the staff were very attentive and friendly, especially the lady who we believed was the landlady. I can't recommend this place highly enough, you need to visit.

We came for the finest wine tasting experience and had the best time. We were served by Jessica and she explained all the wine and what each one paired with food wise. She told us at the end she has only worked here about a month, but we never would have guessed that with the amount she told us about the wines. 10/10 would recommend. We had a lovely time. Great welcome, great food and service. Our waitress was delightful. I would definitely recommend it. The only thing that let them down was the ladies restroom, with a seat too small for the toilet. Maybe it’s not important in the grand scheme of things, however personally I think the restrooms should be as lovely as everything else. Wouldn’t put me off returning, but hope they see this and do something about it.

I recently visited Rutland and Darby Leicester and, while I haven’t yet had the opportunity to sample the food, I was impressed by several aspects of the venue. The drinks selection is extensive, with a strong variety of beers on tap and a wine menu that appears well-curated. At the time of my visit, the pub was pleasantly quiet, which allowed for a relaxed experience. The beer garden is a particular highlight—spacious and well-maintained, it’s clearly ideal for socialising in finer weather. The interior is stylish and thoughtfully laid out, although the green of the bar and a section of the ceiling might not be to everyone’s taste—though that’s entirely subjective. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout. A special mention to Codie, who encouraged me to share this review. I look forward to returning to try the food in future and would certainly recommend Darby and Ruth as a spot for drinks and conversation in Leicester.

I'd give 3.5 if I could, just because this was a really mixed bag. Food - some great, some not so great. We were a table of four and we had starters and mains. If you like pub classics I think you'll really enjoy the food. I just found it quite pricey for what we got, and I do appreciate that costs in general have gone up. However, when I eat out, I want something better than I can make (and to be clear, I am not a chef). Service - again, some great, some fairly hopeless.... Atmosphere - it was the day before Mother's Day and heaving. But it was a strange mix of families and rowdy groups of men which just didn't seem compatible. We had a booth near the door, but I still found it very noisy. Anyone with a hearing impairment would struggle in this environment. So... I don't think I'd be going out of my way to return, but if someone else wanted to go I'd give it another try.

It was a really nice pub and friendly staff. We were in a hurry and wanted to grab lunch. Ordered 2 dishes that could be served quickly so we could be on our way. Sausage and Mash and Chilli Fries. Food was nice no doubt. But we had to wait nearly half an hour to be served. It seemed that the place was understaffed and the team was just about coping. So their friendly and welcoming attitude was greatly appreciated. There is parking on site, the menu is varied with restaurant and bar snacks options. Great place, just go with time on your hands so you can enjoy the experience, atmosphere and the vibe.

One of the loved drinking established in Leicester. This is a recarnation of what was the Orange Tree. This bar has events which you can check on their site or in their listings. This bar has a spacious garden which ks well used in winter and summer. Staff are always good and friendly. They do serve food but I didn't check that on this visit. I’d like to leave this review as constructive feedback to support the future of the establishment. Yesterday, we experienced an awkward situation with what appeared to be the disabled access entrance and ramp. I was accompanying my uncle, who uses a wheelchair, and we entered through the door on the left, which has a flat entry and ramp leading towards the bar area. However, before reaching the bar we encountered a table with dog treats and a fruit machine, which completely blocked the passage. I even had to move one of the small coffee tables out of the way to get through. This forced my uncle to leave his wheelchair in order to pass – an uncomfortable and avoidable situation. The barman clearly saw us struggling, yet instead of offering help, he announced that the building does not have disabled access because it is listed. This felt dismissive, and hard to believe given that the interior has clearly been developed. Even if structural changes aren’t possible, simply relocating the dog treats table and fruit machine would restore the accessibility that the space is already capable of offering. I fully appreciate that not all venues can provide perfect accessibility, but in this case it feels as though functionality has been compromised for the sake of convenience. This didn’t create a very welcoming impression, which is a shame as the issue seems easy to resolve. Unfortunately, our experience at the bar did not improve things. When my cousin – who is visiting from abroad – asked to try a cider (not being familiar with the drink), the barman responded, “It’s just a standard cider,” almost laughing in his face. When we insisted, he reluctantly fetched a taster with a huff, only for my cousin to then happily commit to a full pint. That small lack of courtesy left a sour note on what could otherwise have been an enjoyable visit. Finally, I think it’s worth pointing out that the venue’s Google listing explicitly states that disabled access is available – which makes the reality we experienced even more disappointing.

Went for a bottomless brunch and it wasn’t the experience we expected. Drinks normally flow at these and this was slow… understaffed. It wasn’t even busy and they just couldn’t keep up. The majority of tables were empty and full of glasses and plates. Our plates never got collected after the food and there wasn’t much of an apology. They could’ve offered something but didn’t. We were not the only ones to complain. Food was ok, air-con on full, good if you like it fresh. Big place, hopefully they normally have more staff on… Staff were friendly and did feel a bit for them. Probably won’t return, shame

Staff were all super friendly, and I thought the food menu was reasonably priced too. We had a table for 4. Came in on a busy Saturday afternoon and most tables reserved. They seated us in a reserved table with the instruction to be finished before the table came in, which we were happy to do. We all enjoyed our food, and my pizza was very tasty. Only a few minor complaints are that a friends Old Mout was flat, my garlic bread was a little cold and my parters Christmas burger was served with the smallest pig in blanket I’ve ever seen. But all tasted good, I’d definitely return back anyway.

Table for 7 celebrating a birthday with bottomless brunch. Waited almost half an hour for the first drink. They were short staffed so our server did his best. Despite this slow pace of drinks, the manager did not allow any any additional time and our 2.5 hour slot was cut off after 2 and a quarter hours. I had the breakfast, was really disappointeded with the quality and it was overcooked. Sausages tasted cheap and were so overcooked, bacon was hard and therefore tasteless, there was half a mushroom that also tasted deep fried. I was hungry so I ate it but noone came to check how it was. The cocktails were ok, the espresso martini wasn't garnished with coffee beans though. Overall a disappointing experience that I wouldn't be in a rush to repeat,

Average experience for the average price, wouldn't recommend over anywhere else due to this. Prices are the same, if not more than any other place that does similar food - but the food here was a bit sad looking, and slightly cheap tasting.

I have been here on 5 bottomless brunches and it is the best one in Leicester. The menu has a wide variety of choice for food and drink, the service is amazing, food is great, cocktails are great, quick on getting drinks out.. Fabulous all round. Will be returning for another BB very soon. Thank you

Fantastic! We went for my friends Hen, once they saw her they really made her feel special. Gave us a great table near the dance floor which they decorated, took her to the stage for shots to cheers from the other guests. Made the night really special. Great staff, good music and drinks. Thank you natterjacks!

Went to a reggae night decent music and vybes.. a few fights inside which ruined it for the people that was good and just wanted fun.. Second time vsiiting now and it was very quiet hardly no customers but the whole street was quiet so I'm guessing it's the weather. Had a few drinks with friends and went home. They do have some nice drinks at decent prices

Awesome Sunday dinner! Very generous portions at a reasonable price. Had so much food left on my plate, I had to box the rest up and take home with me. There was no way I was letting that go to waste! Highly recommended! Great service from René and Stevie as always. I will definitely be coming back very soon

Went there for a colleague's birthday and had an amazing time. The catering was excellent and the food was great. Drinks were reasonably priced and and there were a lot of options. Would definitely recommend, especially as you have to go through a Tardis to get to the toilets!

Been here for various events, including the brilliant Sunday evening open mic night hosted by the inimitable Rhett Barrow; as well as one of the best live sets ever witnessed when the same promoter recently booked local legends, The Paradimes. The staff here are so lovely, friendly and professional. The drinks are great, whilst the atmosphere is usually somewhere between super-chill and vibrantly buzzing. Either way, the decor is unique, there's a nice little raised area inside the building for performances and, outside, there's covered decking running the length of the building, which leaves lots of space for smoking or not. One of the best bars about. Highly recommended.

So 2 for £5 on selected drinks. Just had £9.40 taken out of my account at 6:20pm on Thursday night for 2 pints of Fosters. Nice pint of Fosters but even so. Been here several times this year and never had this problem before. Disappointed ☹️.

I love Sunday nights there. Open Mic is the best night in brauny Gate all week. Made to feel welcome, even allowed to sing to (falling over optional) Lovely friendly staff, amazing musicians, lovely funny friendly atmosphere , great decor and venue. Top Place

Possibly the best breakfast I've eaten in Leicester - sausages were amazing. Food's always good in here. Good weighty cutlery. Punk on tap. Friendly staff. Excellent Edit: Unfortunately, since my last review this place has changed hands and it's good menu. I had a breakfast here on Sunday morning and almost everything was deep fried, cheap sausages, no butter, no brown sauce. Best to avoid.

Nice little pub down a side street, well worth a visit. They had two flat ciders on and real ales. Their fresh ham salad cobs are amazing and worth a visit for them alone! Free fast wifi 34/20Mbps

Dropped in after getting off the bus at St Margaret's (it was a freezing cold day) as we heard it had been refurbished. Really nice interior, 12 handpumps and varied selection at a good price. Good cheese and onion cob to keep us going. Definitely will be back.

First visit since it was refurbished which has opened the place up, but not necessarily in a good way. Atmosphere seemed a little flat and unwelcoming. On arrival I had to wait at an empty bar for 5 minutes before someone arrived to serve me. In that time I’d selected a beer to try only to be told it was no longer on lime a few others in the digital board. This left a pretty weak selection to go for, all of which I’d had else where. So had just the one and left. To be fair the beer quality was pretty good though.

Fantastic city centre pub. Beautiful and cozy inside with a real fireplace and traditional decor which is very nice. Pina colada cider given as a taster, was absolutely lovely, and I don't even like cider! Lots of nice ales and cobs. Quite splendid traditional pub in the centre of Leicester that offers a great range of cask ales (a dozen taps or more) at moderate prices. The pub is nicely decorated and comfy, and there's a small outside seating area in the back that even has its own TV. Nice community atmosphere, friendly and competent service. All round one of the best traditional pub options in the city.

Up at 5 and a 5-hour train trip to Leicester to watch "The Argyle " in Leicester today!! Really nice pub, plenty of real ales. And very good service. Met up with the "Midland cronies" and I had a couple of Black Horse Christmas ales, which were excellent. Could have done without the full Christmas music, though !! But hey ho I am a Grinch!!! Nestled just a short 15-minute stroll from Leicester's city center, The Shed stands out as a vibrant underground music venue and nightclub that promises an unforgettable night. With its two distinct spaces—the Main Room and The Vault—this lively hotspot hosts an impressive lineup of live bands across various genres almost every night. Known for its eclectic atmosphere, The Shed is particularly popular among students who flock here to enjoy open mic nights, themed events, and the chance to discover emerging local talent.
The Shed is an amazing live music venue in Leicester. You can get really good value for your money when it comes to the alcoholic or non alcoholic selection of drinks that they sell here. When I have visited here. I have always enjoyed drinking Stella, Strongbow or an Guiness beer on really special occasions. I have always had a really great night out with my friends at the Shed. I've seen some amazing acts and live bands at the Shed over the last 10 years. The main highlight for me was seeing an lot of the Leicester punk bands play here. Also really grateful for having the chance to see the amazing Multimorph play live on the stage at this venue too and being given the opportunity to perform a 20 minute poetry slot to the audience at the Shed on that very same night which was absolutely the best night ever for me.

Classic old fashioned pub with great beer, plenty of space to sit and chat, and no other frills. Staff are friendly too. I'm sure the atmosphere would be even higher drinking with friends rather than passing through on my own.
Steve C — Google review
The simple fact that they evidently threw someone out for ordering a vodka Redbull is reason enough to come here. Apart from that it's a very traditional pub, with a wide variety of beers, some locally crafted. Made the mistake of ordering one of them, not my particular cup of tea that one, but each to his own. Sat next to a slow burning coal fire, enjoyed the experience. Passing by? Pop in!

We used the roof top terrace and garden room for our engagement party and it was amazing! The atmosphere was beautiful and the staff and service were fantastic! We had great communication throughout the whole process and freedom to decorate the room how we wanted. We had “specialty cocktails” named after us on the bar which everyone loved and it added a lovely touch to our night. Din was absolutely lovely and looked after us all night. The venue is so pretty it requires no decoration! We decided to hire a light up 30, make a welcome sign and bring balloons to the venue and it looked amazing (photos added) . Din and his team have been fabulous! Din was very good at communicating and answered any questions we had leading up to and following the event. The bar staff were brilliant and the venue always smelt lovely! We wouldn’t hesitate to book again and will definitely recommend to family and friends! Thankyou Brick and Beam!

I hosted my first ever birthday party for my 30th at Brick and Beam, and I genuinely cannot recommend the venue enough. Brilliant customer service all around, Din was really helpful in preparing the venue and anything requests I needed. Both floors at Brick and Beam are lovely, I decided to go with the first floor purely because the lighting in the room can be dimmed. I wish I had another reason to have a party to re use the venue! ☺️

The atmosphere buzzes with energy, making it an ideal spot for both special celebrations and casual nights out.
Fabulous cocktail bar really well made and more choice than your average bar which are delicious and unique! The staff are all very effective and efficient and really help you too have a great night out with friends!
Elena G — Google review
Hakamou scores high on novelty value - it's Hawaiian themed, so think grass skirts, seating areas that looks like little straw huts and cocktails in coconuts. The music seems to mainly be 80s and 90s - there's a lot of cheese in there. It's a nice little bar.

I've always love this bar since it opened and went back recently after not being in town for a while. The atmosphere is still great, the staff were fantastic, and the drinks were up to the usual standard!

Great drinks, a quirky menu which doesn't explain everything in the drink but enough to create intrigue. The menus were in a state, which is understandable as they get wet but they were a little hard to read on places.
Gareth P — Google review
Loved the atmosphere and music. Drinks were lovely but slighty overpriced(which i didnt mind so much as its a lovely place) would be great for there to be a second hakamou or for them to move to a bigger location as it is very small and can get very busy
Abi S — Google review
First visit to Leicester on a night out. Team bonding. No Dj to man the playlist. Couldn't change the music and constant poor customer service. A party of 12 people unable to enjoy what looked to be an amazing bar with a fantastic set up.
Joanne H — Google review
A great tiki bar, which is made so much better by the care and attention that has clearly gone into the interior design, the cocktail recipes and the menu itself. The menu walks you through the range of cocktails available, from the classic tiki drinks (the piña colada in a coconut is a particular favourite of mine) to mocktails designed for the designated driver or your friend who doesn't drink. The sharers round the selection out - anything between a £10, two-pint choice and the £135 concoction that quite literally comes in a kitchen sink. If you order that last one, you get your name on the board! The bar is nicely laid out; there's an upstairs, which I must confess I've never really explored adequately, but the downstairs is deceptively large, housing several tables as well as a small dance floor. If you arrive early enough you'll be able to get table service from one of the bar staff, since things start fairly quietly and make having a quiet cocktail with a few friends a breeze. If you're there later, things get busy pretty quickly: 9pm seems to be the point at which things go from being fairly relaxed to pretty hectic, with the bar staff doing a brilliant job of keeping up. All in all, if you're looking for a quirky venue in Leicester and you want to sip a cocktail with an umbrella in your hair, this is a great place to do it!

I would like to make you aware that my daughter was spiked last Friday and we have high suspicion that it was by the bar staff, as she did not leave her drink anywhere. No one helped her, even her friend asked for help from the bouncer on duty, but they refused, didn’t bother to even listen to what her friend was trying to tell them. That was their 1st drink. She was lucky to be with other friends who brought her home safely. God knows what would happened that night to my daughter. If you want to stay safe, stay away from this place. I am trying to make you aware, as I am still feeling scared from the situation and don’t want another young girl to go through this.

Après Lounge is a cute, intimate little bar in Leicester with a unique ski lodge and winter themed interior that really stands out. We visited on a bank holiday weekend around 6 PM and, surprisingly, we were the only customers there at the time. The dull weather may have played a part, but it did mean we had the place to ourselves, which made for a very relaxed experience. There is a live DJ, great vibes, and plenty of drinks offers, especially on cocktails. I ordered a Cuba Libre which was essentially a double rum and Coke, simple but strong. My husband had an espresso martini and honestly, it was one of the best we’ve ever had. It actually tasted like cold coffee rather than just a sweet cocktail, though we watched them pour the alcohol in, so it definitely packed a punch. The outdoor garden and bar area is a highlight, really spacious and nicely set up for when the weather is better. It seems they share the outdoor seating space with the venue next door, but it still feels like its own spot. There is also an upstairs area which I assume is used for private events, while the toilets are located downstairs. All in all, a cosy and stylish bar that is worth checking out, especially for a chilled night out or a well made cocktail in a unique setting.
Harvean R — Google review
We came from out of town. The good reviews are well deserved, what a wicked vibe this place has. We arrived quite early, perhaps around nine on a Friday night, it was quiet. After an hour it had really filled out. The DJs were really killing it with a vinyl turntable, the crowd was quite mixed, which we really liked, felt very inclusive but also special. They tread a fine line here, between bar and club, formal and casual, fun and serious, and seem to get the balance right on all accounts. We had a great time, if I ever make it back to Leicester you can count we'll visit again.

Sister bar to Bruxelles and has the link to garden outside. Superb djs from Superfly and Flat White records, Saturday and Friday respectively. There are djs in the bar and the garden outside. One of busiest and liveliest places in Leicester. House music is the main genre. Friday nights has r n b and other music inside Apres lounge. Good range of drinks and excellent service. Highly recommended for a proper night out.

A girl in our group had her drink spiked. Security guard threw her over his shoulder, banged her head against the wall and carried her out. No care, no apparently first aid and no concern for those in the club.

Bouncers refused entry even though the bar was completely dead. Not the first time this has happened, way too prestige for a small Leicester bar. Owner should re consider the bouncers here, they are on a power trip.
Emelia S — Google review
Bartender in the garden has terrible customer service 'skills'. Under charged me for a drink and wouldn't admit to his mistake, tried to put the blame on me so called the bouncers when I questioned his attitude. Seriously needs looking in to. Luckily the security staff were understanding and compliant. Apart from his poor attitude the place is great, just really let down by one person.

Great space exploration experience for younger and older kids. There are plenty of educational hands-on exhibits and games. Join the exciting space travel to Mars with missions to complete and the show in the biggest planetarium in the UK (one chosen show is included in the ticket). It's accessible, with lifts, accessible toilets, and changing spaces for kids and adults. The Rocket Cafe is really good with a simple menu, but you can bring your own picnic. Tickets are quite expensive, but you gain a whole year access, so this could be an ideal solution for families, with the option to choose different planetarium shows on each visit. Reserve a minimum 3-4 hours to spend there.

Came here to watch Pink Floyd Dark side of the Moon in the planetarium. The show was one of the best I've ever seen. Amazing atmosphere in the planetarium. The visuals and sounds were perfect. We also had a good look around the space centre itself. Properly cool place with absolutely loads for kids and adults to do and see. Very educational and we will be bringing our kids to have a look. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely do it again

The NSC is an amazingly well curated museum with interactive elements and immersive shows in the Patrick Moore Planetarium inside, shows last 25mins. They even have a real rocket! and you can take a lift to see it from above. It's well suited to kids and adults (we never grow up really) and you can touch space objects and interact with some scientific tools and even play some games to test your astronaut potential! I spent 2ish hours there and there's still more that I didn't get a chance to experience. Tickets were £20 & that gets you an annual pass. The cafe they have is great too, they do hot food and good coffee and even an awesome giftshop! You gotta go :]

Where do I start. The place was amazing. The staff and the exhibits were exceptional. So much great information to digest and lots of things for little ones and bigger little ones to do. There were a lot of people in, but it never felt packed. The cinema show was brilliant and way more immersing than we thought it would be. The gift shop had a great collection of toys as well as interesting gifts specific to the Space center. A great day out and it would've recieved 5 stars if it wasn't for the poor cafe that was let down by a lack of choice and the cleaning of the eating/utensil areas which was really poor. The staff serving were great super friendly on all departments but the eating areas were disappointing. Still won't stop another visit to this wondrous place.

Located north of Leicester city centre, the National Space Centre is an amazing day out for kids and adults of all ages. Filled with interactive and educational activities, award winning shows on immersive 360 degree screen, and lots more to see and do. Super helpful and attentive staff, great gift shop, lots of space to sit. Buy ticket online for free annual pass upgrade without hassle. Kids could spend the whole day in here to learn and play. Bring your own lunch to avoid weekend and peak time queues.

This visit has been a long time coming, after trudging the M1 for three decades and seeing the brown sign for the National Space Centre I finally found time to visit, and it was no disappointment in the slightest. Many facts and exhibits tie into loads of classic films, articles and milestones from over the years and lots for the kids to learn about along the way. A great day out and at the moment (summer 2025) the artists elephants are all around Leicester. The planetarium is incredible! Please go and enjoy one of the midlands great attractions that you might have missed.

Turtle Bay Leicester is a lively Caribbean restaurant located in a shopping center, featuring vibrant decor with reggae posters and street art. The restaurant offers a relaxed island ambiance and serves up flavorful dishes such as jerk chicken, curried goat, and rum-infused cocktails. It's a popular choice for both casual dining and night outs in Leicester, providing an alternative to traditional UK pubs or chains.
What a turnaround! After the absolute fiasco at the Quorn Hotel (our original anniversary plan – let’s just say we won’t be rushing back), we decided to try this place instead. And wow, what a glow-up for our evening! Yes, there were a couple of little hiccups with the food at first – but the staff fixed everything so quickly and so cheerfully that we almost wished something else would go wrong, just to see them in action again. Customer service here deserves a standing ovation! The music was a tad on the loud side, but we powered through like two seasoned party veterans. The chicken curry was tasty – even if the chicken clearly came from a very proud thigh and not a breast – and those sweetcorn fritters? Honestly, they could have been the star of the night. Crispy, golden little bites of happiness! All in all, this restaurant turned a shaky start into a great anniversary evening. Not bad for Plan B – might even be Plan A next time. In summary a nice but lively place with decent food and drinks well worth a visit, we look forward to going here again.

Bradgate Park is a renowned beauty spot in Leicestershire, spanning 830 acres and offering a variety of attractions. Visitors can explore footpaths, encounter peacocks and fallow deer, and enjoy the playground and stream. The park also boasts the ruins of Lady Jane Grey's childhood home. It is home to over 550 Red and Fallow deer that freely roam the area.
Lovely park, stunning backdrop with plenty of dears, you feel like you could be in the Scottish Highlands at times. Picturesque place which is great for walking, whether it's a ramble up to Old John Tower, a rummage in the woods, or a dip in the stream. Highly recommend for dog walkers and families to get out into the fresh air!!
Daniel P — Google review
Bradgate Park is truly a gem, an incredible place to unwind, take a long walk, and just breathe. It's the kind of spot where nature does all the talking. The landscape is vast and beautiful, with open spaces, ancient trees, and a peaceful atmosphere that helps you disconnect from everyday life. It used to be quieter, and while it's more popular now and can get busy, there are still those rare, quieter days when you can enjoy the serenity and really take it all in. If you're lucky enough to visit on one of those days, the peacefulness is something special. Perfect for a picnic, a long stroll, or even just some time to sit and think. Just a tip bring everything you might need, because you might find yourself staying longer than planned. It’s that kind of place.
Halal E — Google review
Bradgate Park itself is beautiful – really enjoyed walking around and especially loved seeing the deer roaming freely, which made the visit feel quite special. The scenery is lovely and it’s a great place to spend time outdoors. That said, the parking felt quite extortionate, which does take away from the experience a bit, and the men’s toilets could definitely be improved in terms of cleanliness. Overall, worth visiting for the park and wildlife, but a couple of practical things could be better managed.

Bradgate Road leads to the stunning Bradgate Park, a truly beautiful and expansive place that’s perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors. The park is filled with wildlife — from grazing deer to a variety of birds — and its natural scenery makes it ideal for both relaxation and exploration. Whether you’re after a quiet stroll, a scenic jog, or a full day out with family, the area offers something for everyone. There are designated BBQ spots, picnic areas, and clean toilet facilities that make visiting convenient and enjoyable. The walking and running tracks are well-maintained, offering routes for all fitness levels and interests. Overall, Bradgate Road and its surroundings provide a peaceful escape from the city, combining nature, history, and recreation in one truly lovely destination.
Nicholas M — Google review
The park is beautiful. What I didn't like was the amount of dogs off leads near the deers. This included a pit bull. Owners need to be wary at all times as deer are loose everywhere. Great for photographers. I parked in the south woods carpark as it is £2 all day.
T K — Google review
A beautiful park and a great place for hiking, walking, and simply relaxing. It’s always thrilling to see wildlife up close here. Toilet facilities and cafés are available both at the entrance and in the middle of the park, which makes it very convenient. You can easily spend the whole day enjoying a picnic and connecting with nature and wildlife. There’s plenty of parking available — £5 on weekdays and £6 on weekends for the full day. It’s also good to see that bins are placed throughout the park, helping to keep it clean.

What and incredible place! Visit the ruins and the gardens. Take a walk alongside the stream. Or hike up the rocky hills to take in the panoramic views and pay your respects at the war memorial. Deer and Peacocks wonder freely around the grounds. This really is a stunning part of the midlands. When you need to rest your legs you can pop into the cafe to refresh, grab a bite to eat and take bathroom break. There's something for everyone to enjoy regardless of your physical abilities. I came via public transport from Nottingham. The number 9 Kinchbus took me from West Bridgford (Notts) to Loughborough (Auberry Gap stop), and then I got the 154 Centrebus from the Auberry Gap stop to the reservoir at the Bradgate Park. The stop which takes to back to Loughborough is also right next to the reservoir wall. I believe the last bus back to Loughborough is at around 18:30, and then there are multiple late buses back to Nottingham from there

Fantastic parkland with a large expanse of green space, some striking landmarks and remarkable prehistoric rock formations. Bradgate Park dates back around 800 years, when it began life as a deer park, a role it still fulfills today with a large herd of Fallow and Red deer. It's also home to the impressive ruins of Bradgate House, one of England's oldest brick built houses, and amazing ancient oak trees, many of which date back over 500 years. The park is maintained to a very high standard and has a number of entrances, each with their own parking area (charged daily at a reasonable rate) and public toilet facilities. Tearooms are located near the reservoir and the Newtown Linford entrance. The path is crossed by a network of well maintained and clearly signposted paths, ideal for dog walks and popular with families. The Newtown Linford entrance is best for short, easy walks past the stream to the house, while the Hunts Hill entrance in the upper part of the park is best for more challenging walks to Old John Tower and the Leicestershire Yeomanry War Memorial. These high points offer expansive views over the surrounding countryside and the Leicester skyline, with rugged rocks in the foreground. We stopped here on the way to the Peak District thinking the park would be a more interesting way to break the journey than a motorway service station, and were very happy to have done so. A real suprise that exceeded all expectations.

The King Richard III Visitor Centre, located in the city centre of Leicester, is a modern museum that offers interactive exhibits on the life, death, and grave discovery of King Richard III. The center uses modern technology to explore different aspects of his reign and the archaeological project that led to the discovery of his bones. It's a great place for history enthusiasts to delve into the controversial reign of Richard III and form their own opinions about his legacy.
A well presented set of displays covering the life of Richard III, and the archaeology and story of the discovery of his remains. The displays on the injuries seen on his skeleton, and the DNA evidence proving that the remains really are those of the king are very thorough and engrossing. The tour finishes with a look at the site of his grave, clearly visible through a glass panel in the floor. The staff were really helpful, and very knowledgeable. One lady spent quite a while with me explaining the details of the grave site which was especially useful. The on site cafe is also very nice, and was quite quiet when I visited. This is a must see site in Leicester.
Martin E — Google review
The museum was very interesting to visit. Children engaged in some quests and looked for the clues everywhere in the different rooms, even in the cafe and the garden. They love this period as they studied it at school. They enjoyed speaking with the guide there about the Richard III, his character, was he a good or evil king?, the mystery of the two nephews in the tower, the story that led to his burial place... The most interesting thing is that the tickets are valid for one year. So if you cannot finish the visit or want to come again you can do so as many times as you like! Keep your tickets safe or the proof of payment confirmation email if you booked online.

A very well thought through visitor centre , with very helpful, staff. Some of the exhibits are amazing, especially the 'interactive exhibits". It explained the 'science of the DNA testing' as well as the archaeology part. The history and circumstances of Richard III that led to him being at Bosworth Field, and the very sad outcome. The shop & cafe are excellent, and the outside courtyard- with beautifully planted flowers and trees are all excellent; with plenty of seating under shading trees. Altogether, the layout of the experience was very good, well thought out. The fact it had air con, all around the tour was also excellent. The tour is on two levels ground floor , and upper floor - which can be reached by a lift , so no problem for wheel chair users. It was a very moving moment to see where they actually found him in the car park; it has been preserved, for posterity, exactly where they found him, this is outside in a very beautiful 'sanctum' covered over with toughened glass. The visitor shop is also excellent, with many interesting gifts and books, on medieval topics, including the Yorks & Tudors.. The entrance "doubles" also as the exit. I am so glad I came, to see this exhibit - finally..!!

A really awesome and well executed piece of history. The museum is amazing and the display which shows the location of Richard’s burial is incredible. There was an amazing volunteer named Julie who explained the full story behind the discovery of Richard. The centre has done an excellent job. It is a must visit for any historian.

Loved visiting here. Very well put together and great displays to tell the story of Richard and the project to find him. Special thanks to Jan for her wonderful talk at the grave location about the dig and about the two Princes. A fantastic addition to Leicester

We were so looking forward to visiting the RIII Visitor Centre as we are both historians and wanted to see where the body of RIII was discovered, it did not disappoint. The impressive purpose built centre is next to and over the 'Car park' and displayed lots of artefacts, many historical notes and a glass covered floor over the actual site where his body was discovered. The staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable. Well worth the visit.

Leicester Cathedral is a medieval building adorned with intricate sculptures and a Georgian spire. It offers regular tours and choral services, making it a popular destination for tourists. The cathedral gained fame after the discovery of Richard III's remains in 2012, which were finally put to rest there in 2015. Visitors often take photos near the statue of Richard III as a memento. Additionally, the nearby Richard III Visitor Centre showcases the area where his remains were found and tells his story.
Leicester Cathedral is a truly special landmark, rich in history and spiritual significance. Located in the heart of the city, the cathedral dates back over 900 years. Its most renowned feature is the tomb of King Richard III, whose remains were discovered nearby in 2012 and reinterred here in 2015 after a state ceremony. The building itself showcases stunning Gothic Revival architecture, and recent renovations have made the space more accessible while preserving its sacred atmosphere. The calm interior, impressive stained-glass windows, offer a peaceful and enriching experience. Friendly volunteers are always available to answer questions, and the tranquil cathedral gardens provide a lovely space to sit and reflect, Leicester Cathedral is a must-visit destination in the city.

Leicester Cathedral is not large, but is very well kept. The tomb of English King Richard 3rd is superbly done with two stones which both relate to his life. The newly-added visitor room is styled to complement the main cathedral. Guides on-site were friendly and informative.

I really enjoyed my visit to Leicester Cathedral. It wasn't built as a cathedral, and it is moderately small - it was elevated in 1927 when the diocese of Leicester was recreated. For me, the highlight wasn't the tomb of King Richard III, but the stained glass window by Christopher Whall which overlooks it. I was also pleased to see two windows by Thomas Denny commemorating the life and death of Richard III. The staff were all friendly, helpful & informative. There was a small shop near the entrance/exit where I bought some nice postcards.

I came from the other side of the world to come to Leicester Cathedral and to visit the tomb of Richard III. I actually was in England last year but the cathedral was closed for renovations. I was left nearly speechless what a beautiful resting place the cathedral has given King Richard III. It was nice to just sit there for a while and think back on all that history as well as admire a beautiful cathedral.

Just had our 2nd afternoon tea with a cocktail as an anniversary treat. The savoury course was delicious and cooked perfectly. We were a bit disappointed they’d changed the dessert board. It was too stodgy with a caramel/chocolate cream filled doughnut, chocolate brownie (bit dry) with slice of strawberry and a slice of chocolate and cream layered cake. On the website it shows a waffle with ice cream and strawberries which is what we had last time and is much lighter and a different flavour. If that goes back on the menu we’ll go back again. The staff were lovely and the setting is nice. Also the strawberry woo woo was great.

Situated on Filbert Way, it is just a short walk from De Montfort University.
This is the Home ground for the Leicester City football club men's team. It's located in the city centre and easily accessible by bus or train if coming from out of town. I had the pleasure of visiting it of recent for a Premier League match against Brighton and the atmosphere was electrifying. I definitely did enjoy my time here and can't wait to be back.

Access to the stadium was really easy, there is plenty of paid parking areas around the stadium and much like any of the other “flat pack stadiums” the facilities inside cover the basic needs. Views are good in my experience and the club try their best to generate some atmosphere during what’s a difficult time for Leicester City. Impressed with the club shop, plenty of merch including some great retro kits.

Visited the Kingpower Stadium to watch Leicester City play Liverpool in the Premier League. Stadium was neat and the facilities looked relatively new. Access was relatively easy, one just had to navigate to the appropriate turnstile (all clearly signposted). No long queues, despite a security check (scanning) and I was at my seat within a few minutes. I sat in the Home Fans section, so I had to keep my Liverpool scarf out of sight. Later discovered that several people in the same section did the same thing. All in all, a nice outing, especially as we won. Sad that City were relegated on the day, though

Decent away stand seat and view. I was fairly close to the pitch. We were allowed to stand. The stadium staff were friendly enough. I took the 88A Saffron bus from Haymarket bus station. The journey took about 15 minutes. Programs are sold outside the stadium. The atmosphere inside the stadium was a bit quiet, though there was a drum in one of the home stands. Overall, not a bad stadium at all.

The White Horse is a modern, rustic-style pub located in the heart of England, specifically in Leicestershire. This vibrant culinary destination offers a blend of traditional and modern experiences inspired by its rich history and landscapes. The pub features real ales, hearty food including beef meatballs, warm bread, three bean chillis, pasta, curries, and big burgers.
Stopped here for a spur of the moment dinner out having never been before and was very pleased. Food was really tasty pub food, great decor, helpful friendly staff, clean toilets and little play area for children in a nice pub garden area. Highly recommend for a family meal out!

Stumbled upon this pub on one of our Sunday runs. Got really excited to get something to eat when we got there but there were already too many people who ordered (what I assume to be) really good pub food!!! Really gutted that we weren't able to try them out but the nice man behind the counter (forgot his name sorry) explained how the kitchen was overwhelmed and told us they won't be back taking orders until about an hour so we got the crispiest bottle of Coke instead which was a 10/10. Hence, food rating is pending but everything else was fine. Will be back to try their food soon though!
Akhina T — Google review
Food was unpleasant to say the least. The mushroom risotto looked like it went through the meat grinder before it got to the plates. Tasted like pure griddle grease (no offence). Salad was fine, at least they got one thing right. Chips fine. Other than that, disgusting.

If you are going to serve a cocktail called a "St Germain elderflower spritz" at least use St German liquer and not a fake version, it felt like customers were an inconvenience to the bar staff, a smile & proper greeting goes a long way. We were planning to try the food but the bbq's are only lit a couple times a week, the other menu wasn't something we would consider ordering from.

My husband and I went for a hike and came across this pub at the end. The atmosphere was cozy and warm and the platter we ordered was perfect. I am definitely coming back again to try the steak. 2 things I really appreciated were that They allow dogs inside which I found perfect and had partitions between the tables
Areege A — Google review
Great meal enjoyed by all our party, including the dog, who was made very welcome and was given his own bag of treats! There is also a menu of drinks and ice creams for the dogs. Not all pubs that are dog-friendly are actually dog-welcoming but this one is. The interior was light and bright and spacious, it is so nice not to be crammed in right next to another group of people but have room to relax and enjoy. Miss Piggy burger was a major highlight! Nice selection of wines too and plenty to choose from on the main menu plus specials - would highly recommend for excellent quality and generous portions.

Was recommended to go to this pub by the hotel staff at the Ibis hotel and it was awesome .. the food was really nice! Great atmosphere in the pub, very busy .. plus the staff were super friendly .. thanks to the manager for putting up with our banter! 🤣

Great pub with outside seating with designated NO Smoking Tables. It's has a small play area with tables for when you want to eat drink and watch your kids scream while ignoring them. Food was good and came fairly quickly. The Sunday menu isn't huge but has a varied selection so should suit all tastes.

Great atmosphere, service and food. We had the matcha and it was delicious, right amount of sweetness and very refreshing on a hot day

Raw cacao oat milk latte was good but way too hot. Be careful when you sip it. The waffle could be much much better. It was bone dry even the ice cream couldn’t help. The music was too loud for customers to feel relaxed. The smoke from the kitchen was blown all over the dining area. The service was good though.

We ordered a takeaway from Deliveroo and were really shocked at the portion size. Each of our mains was around £14 and we got half a bowl’s worth of food, as seen in the pictures. We’ve previously had food from here that we’ve been happy with, but we wouldn’t order again after this experience unfortunately. We raised a complaint on the website, but are yet to hear back a week on

The Loaded Dog is a popular student pub offering affordable food and drinks with all-day deals. It's a great spot to catch live sports on their massive big screen and 10 flat screen TVs, including an outdoor TV for Sky Sports and BT Sport. The pub serves food until 10pm and provides various entertainment options such as pool tables, interactive boxing machine, quiz, fruit machines, and retro gaming systems.
Just had a change of hands and a lick of paint. The new guys are the old guys but under new ownership and have sorted out the issues the old owners had accrued. The beer’s great, the prices have come down - including a student rate I’m sadly too old to enjoy! - and the food is far better than it has any right to be. Nice little beer terrace out back including an outdoor screen for sport. Loads of TVs for when the footy’s on, as well as decent setups for video gaming on big screens. Even got darts and bookcases; what’s not to like? And to top it all they’re open late most nights - with karaoke on at the weekends. Weeknights have been a bit quiet over the summer but will no doubt get busier when the unis are back in. Great spot for a pint.

Huge big massive pub with a beer garden on the edge of Leicester city centre. No parking near by that I can think of. The food is OK & basic but £5+ a pint in the East Mids is scandalous. Careful with the cider as everyone who had it in our group got bad guts the next day!

Delicious Italian food made fresh to order with great tasting cocktails. The staff were so attentive and friendly, a great experience all round!
Olivia A — Google review
The venue is lovely and the staff were welcoming, but the food and service sadly let the evening down. We were a large group who booked weeks in advance and even pre-ordered mains, yet there was still a long wait and the dishes came out far too staggered. My pasta arrived cold, was reheated in the microwave, and tasted below average — by the time I’d finished, others at my table were still waiting for their food. Starters and desserts were good, but considering the delays, the quality of the mains, and the £16 price tag for a disappointing pasta dish, it really wasn’t worth it. A shame, as we were celebrating together, and I’d look at other Italian options in the city centre next time.

Fish and chips takeaway
Located in the heart of London Road, Captain Haddock's Traditional Fish & Chips is a renowned fish and chips takeaway that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Situated amidst the vibrant bar scene, this establishment offers both delivery and takeaway services. Indulge in their authentic and high-quality selection of fish, chips, sides, as well as chicken, burgers, and sausages. However, individuals following a gluten-free diet should be cautious as the fish is coated in batter before being deep-fried.
First time Ive tried this chippy, was very good. It located about a 2 min walk up London Road from the railway station. First thing you notice is how bright and clean this places is, all surfaces are tiled and they have lots of very large old photos of Leicester on the walls. The chips were good, I would use again.
Andy S — Google review
Firstly I’d like to start by saying I was a frequent visitor to captain haddock’s on London road, but after my experience today I will never go again. My food was burnt, the portions have gone so small, I literally counted ten chips in a chip cone. The bread they served me was hard and stale, and the pie was undercooked. To top it all off I was ignored by the restaurant and treated very rudely.

We got the king meal and it can fill 3 people easily, the food was fresh, the fish had a great taste and chips were meaty, they offered us 2 more sauces on the house great selection, definitely the gravy doesn’t lie.

Fantastic food and exceptional service! I’ve been to Captain Haddock in Leicester a few times now, and every visit has been a genuinely pleasant experience. The fish is always fried to perfection, and the food has been consistently great each time. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. For example, I often ride into town with my kids, and they’ve kindly let us bring our bikes inside the shop — something I really appreciated. A special shoutout to Shagufta, who is always behind the counter with a smile. She goes out of her way to ensure that customers are comfortable and happy with the service. I don’t usually write reviews, but the outstanding customer service at Captain Haddock definitely deserves recognition. If you want best Fish & Chips in Leicester try these guys, Highly recommend!

Soar Point Leicester is a popular student pub known for its affordable drinks, tasty food, and live sports. The lively atmosphere and picturesque views of the canal make it an ideal place to enjoy street food-inspired dishes like karaage-coated chicken tacos and stone-baked pizzas.

Isobel C — Google review
Soar Point in Leicester is a fantastic bar that offers a great atmosphere, especially for students, but it is welcoming to anyone looking for a relaxed and fun place to hang out. There is plenty of seating available, including large tables that are perfect for groups, so it is easy to come here with friends and all sit together comfortably. The space is well thought out and caters to different needs, whether you are there for food, drinks, games, or just to chill. There are loads of screens showing sports, pool tables to enjoy, board games on the shelves, and even a photo booth for some extra fun. The outdoor seating area looks out onto the water which gives it a really nice touch. One of the best parts is the regular deals on both food and drinks throughout the week, and they even host a bingo night on Thursdays which adds a fun twist. Another great feature is the availability of USB ports and plug sockets around the bar. I have brought my laptop here a few times to get some work done, and the environment is really chilled and comfortable for that. The staff are always friendly and helpful which creates a very welcoming vibe. The only downside is the very strong smell of urine in the toilets, which is quite unpleasant and really lets the place down. Aside from that issue, Soar Point is a cool, student-friendly venue that is well worth a visit whether you are looking to relax, watch sports, socialise, or get a bit of work done.

Crafty St Martin's is a restaurant that specializes in burger cuisine, with many different options available to choose from. The burgers are very tasty and come with french fries as standard, but can be upgraded for a small amount of money. The restaurant has two floors and a terrace outside, making it ideal for friends or couples. However, the only downside is that the restaurant only operates on weekdays at the moment.
We had such a great experience at Crafty Burger! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, the perfect mix of casual and cool. The staff were more than lovely; Thiago and Kate took care of us and made the whole evening even better with their friendly, attentive service. As for the food, absolutely packed with flavour! 10 years ago, I tried Crafty for the first time when they first opened as pop-up and was blown away by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the service. I was a regular guest for the following 2 1/2 years before moving to Canada. Tonight, after coming back to Leicester for the first time in over 7 years, I returned to Crafty and was overjoyed to find that things have only gotten better. There are a lot of restaurants that boldly say they have the best burgers in the world, and they don't; Crafty don't say it, but they do. Any burger place on the planet is welcome to try and prove that statement to be incorrect; they will struggle.
Dave M — Google review
Ordered the loaded hash brown bowel which was great, along with a latte which was delicious
Lou B — Google review
Burgers were ok - I asked for mine “more pink” but it came out more well done really, probably due to the thin patty. The burger wasn’t massive but wasn’t small either. Fries were great though! I liked the milkshake, but my wife found it a bit sweet. It was a decent size. The red-headed girl who served was excellent, but the others we interacted with seemed like they didn’t want to be there or were bothered if we asked for something. We visited at lunch time on Sat 5 July 2025.

Did one of the harder ones, Alcatraz, was so close to completing, my partner slowed us down 🤣 Antonio was a great game master. Went to a restaurant after which was amazing. Great day overall. Would recommend.
Tobi F — Google review
A super set of escape rooms. We had two groups of four, one in Jungala and the other Enigmista. We were greeted by Mo, who looked after all well. Facilities are good with loos, lockers, and so on, a decent waiting space too. I was in Jungala. The room itself was slightly tired, plenty of frayed edges, chipped paint, and the like, but it didn't take away from the puzzle, the twist and turns, the challenges and our overall enjoyment. It's much more hands-off from the staff than other rooms I've done, there is an iPad that deals with hints and clues in an automated fashion - in person advice is an exception (though available). I'm not at all sure I preferred that, but it's a relatively minor point, and if anything shows how technically advanced they are. The other team also enjoyed their room. I cannot count how many rooms I've done, this certainly ranked amongst the better ones. Strongly recommend a visit.

Friendly staff - did the "bank job" escape room, which was really well thought out and fun to do. Although we had a great time, one of the challenges was broken, so despite getting it correct we had to ultimately get the staff in to fix the issue. Not a huge problem, but very much took us out of the experience. Nonetheless, would recommend!
