Disco club
Camelot Club is a popular nightlife spot in the area, known for its immensely pleasurable atmosphere. It's one of the favorite places to go out on a Thursday night, along with Gatsby and Zhivago. The club offers cheap shots at only 50 cents, making it great value for money. While it allows minors in, it's recommended to visit on event nights or Thursdays for a livelier experience.
It's loud, it's crazy and it's a lot of fun. If you're a party persons wanting to spend a lovely time dancing with lots of people, this the place. I'd recommend going during weekends because during the week it's a little dull and empty.
Sumaya R — Google review
Me and my friend bought tickets for noche vieja. We went to the club and the line was gigantic, after one hour in the line, the degree was -5, I wanted just to go home and my money back. I talked to the security that was very rude and then to the instagram manager. None could solve my problem of wanting to go inside or my money back. Today is 12 of january and they didn't give my money back, and are saying that will not. Very bad service over all.
Amanda A — Google review
Stopped by for a quick drink and to explore. Poorly served by a rude Host. Not friendly at all! Please improve! We are decision makes and work in hospitality.
Younique T — Google review
A shame. I gave one start since less is not possible. I was there Sunday end of march. As I approach; the gate guard told me " es una fiesta privada " sólo para los de la casa". Whereas everyone was entering without any other question. 1. Who do you consider " de la casa"? Do they have a card? A membership? Something to recognize them? 2 . I made a call because it was my first time in there. I was invited by a close friend. According to Spanish law you cannot use general conditions to not letting someone in your club. These rules have to be: clearly specific and PREVIOUSLY written down. I don't want to think my non Caucasian origin played a role. To make things worse they hire some non Caucasian gate guard( a black guy) so he can state " is not about your origine; Look at me ; I'm African origine and I'm working here" paltry behaviour and explanations The solution of this issues and behaviours are not calling police or writing a letter of complaint. The solution is NOT GOING to these kind of places. So; if you are against discrimination; please do not go to Camelot. So they will go broke and close down. This is the solution.
Miguel A — Google review
The shots are every cheap, only 50 cents so that's very good value. It is a fun nightclub that allows minors in, however a lot of the nights there aren't many people there. I strongly recommend days that there are events or Thursdays.
The P — Google review
Man/woman ratio is around 8 on a single saturday. Music sucks big time. Cocktails are absurd and nowhere close to a good cocktail. If you are so drunk and looking for a quick bathroom, it is very good.
Can I — Google review
Amazed this nightclub is still around! We partied here all the time in the early 90s when I was an exchange student. Back then it was always Gipsy Kings on the dance floor, so I hope at least that has changed ;)
Tor L — Google review
I remember this place I spent some time there in the summer of 1989. Fun club with good dance music. Tone Loc and FYC were the big hits that summer. Lots of students (I was one). Interesting interior with a castle theme. Several time a night they would break into Sevillanas music and us foreigners would clear the dance for the Spanish girls to dance to it. Very fun.

Salamanca's Plaza Mayor is a grand and imposing public square that has been central to city life since its construction between 1729 and 1755. The plaza features Baroque-style architecture, with a continuous four-storey building surrounding it, as well as the grand City Hall (Ayuntamiento). Originally intended for bullfights and local festivals, the square is now an attractive spot for al fresco dining and is most beautiful when illuminated in the evening.

Museums
Museo Art Nouveau y Art Déco - Casa Lis is a museum housed in a stunning art nouveau mansion, featuring colorful glass, jewelry, and an extensive collection of dolls. The museum showcases the decorative arts from the 19th century, emphasizing quality craftsmanship and exquisite finishes. Visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of art nouveau and art deco while exploring this impressive collection within the mansion's elegant surroundings.
I used to visit midday every Thursday when it was free entry and relax in the cafe. Their specialty coffee is absolutely gorgeous and the decor is stunning! The only thing that was a shame was when the antique coffee machine (picture in review) was replaced with a modern machine! The coffee is still fantastic but I missed the gorgeous addition to the cafe bar
Poppy H — Google review
Absolotely lovely building, some great art deco stuff, my only but was lots off dolls. No pictures allowed inside, but thisnis the outside
Andrew E — Google review
This is why you should save all the stuff in your Grandmother's house after she passes: people will pay good money to wander around and gawk at her quirky collections! You don't lose much (just the fabulous courtyard) by not being able to take pictures: it looks much better from the street & bridge lit up at night.
BooksBoozeViews — Google review
If you're an Art Deco and Art Nouveau enthusiast, this museum is a must-see. After your tour, you can enjoy a snack in the lovely café.
P F — Google review
I saw a poster board advertising this museum, which had a photo of the glass ceiling. I had to go see it! I absolutely loved this art deco museum! Lots of wonderful items on display. The glass ceiling, when you enter the museum, is stunning. I loved seeing the porcelain dolls, fans, jewelry, glassware, etc. You can't take any pictures, which was disappointing. I was hoping the gift shop would have a book on items that were on display, but no, they didn't have any. At least I took a photo of the poster board for my memories.
Monica P — Google review
This must be our favourite place in Salamanca. Every corner had something interesting and beautiful but we especially loved the Lalique glass and the dancing figurines. The curator of the exhibitions has done a fantastic job. The dancers were lit like they were on stage and seemed to be moving; truly breathtaking. The café served simple but tasty sandwiches and the Caffè de Lis was yummy. Around a wonderful experience and a very stylish one. The shop was rather generic and doesn't have many items related to the exhibits, which was a little disappointing. Perhaps there is copyright issues. This does not detract from the visit. Do not miss coming here
Lighthouse C — Google review
The place is small but quite a finding for those who particularly like this kind of art! Workers there seem to be too used to having much free time - as it was literally me and another person at the venue - they seemed unpleased with my presence and barely spoken to any of my questions or even my salutation. Don't mind them as they don't mind you and enjoy the place.
Murilo L — Google review
The ticket woman had very Bad manner and moody It is a nice place with art supposed to have a nice calm and positive person for reception. This is not free entry. I had to pay for visiting. The woman with short blond hair should do something else better for her Not good for reception at ticket office. Horrible impression.

Casa de las Conchas, also known as the House of Shells, is a 16th-century Gothic palace in Salamanca. Its facade is adorned with over 300 intricately carved seashells, symbolizing the original owner's affiliation with the Order of Santiago de Compostela. This historic building has served various purposes throughout its existence, including as a dwelling, university edifice, and even a correctional facility.
Lovely building with nice architecture and history. Going inside to the courtyard is good to be able to see the views and the structure. Being a library now, it’s great to see how it’s being used in a way that allows for people to still enjoy the building and it’s history. Definitely recommend stopping here and going inside..
James D — Google review
This is the “must visit” place in Salamanca. Very beautiful wall with “conchas” and the library inside is also very nice and quite; open to all visitors including foreigners. Recommended to visit during day time and at night which can enjoy both of the different views.
Sina H — Google review
An absolutely brilliant building. The external facade is covered in scallop shells. It is not so much due to the pilgrimages ( though they do go through the town) but more that the family were followers of St James. The courtyard is beautiful with a gorgeous balcony with two types of stone grillwork and multi form arches. Just beautiful
G M — Google review
The building is an architectural blend of Gothic, Mudéjar, and Renaissance styles, famous for its exterior adorned with over 300 scallop shells. It was constructed between 1493 and 1517 as a residence for Don Rodrigo Arias Maldonado, a court official of the Catholic Monarchs and a knight of the Order of Santiago. The scallop shell is the emblem of the Order of Santiago. Some people believed that treasures were hidden beneath the shells, and there were even attempts to remove them in the past. The building is also notable for its intricately carved windows and doors, which feature delicate Plateresque-style decorations. Inside, there is a beautiful two-story courtyard with striking Mudéjar-style columns and arches. Today, the building serves as a public library, open to both locals and visitors.
Seokjin H — Google review
An unmissable jewel of Salamanca, this historic palace stands a mere five minutes’ stroll from the Plaza Mayor, at the corner of Calle Rúa Antigua and Calle Compañía. Today it serves as a public library, yet visitors may freely enter its enchanting central courtyard. Its most iconic feature is the façade, adorned with over 300 scallop shells — the emblem of the Pimentel family, each one carved in stone. These shells are steeped in legend, symbolising both the Order of Santiago and a nod to the Camino de Santiago. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, La Casa de las Conchas is a masterpiece of Spanish civil Gothic with subtle Renaissance touches. The interior patio offers a serene haven, where the harmonious architecture and ancient well evoke a sense of timeless peace. A visit here is a journey into the very soul of Spain’s artistic and historic splendour.
Q G — Google review
Gorgeous. If i lived in Salamanca and had this space as my public library, I don't believe I'd ever leave it. It's beautiful. And, it is a public library and those, in every spot on the planet, are things of beauty which should be cherished and protected for eternity. Do not pass this place by when you are in the area.
Jaded G — Google review
This is a landmark building constructed between 1493 and 1517 and making use of Spanish Gothic and Plateresque architectural style. What makes this historic building unique are the 300 shells which decorate the facade and for which the building takes its name. You can enter the view the ground and first floor of the charming interior courtyard. These days, Casa de las Conchas serves as a public library.
Brad — Google review
This is not a major sight but it is certainly worth including on a trip around the old town of Salamanca. It gets its name from the hundreds of shells carved on its exterior, but even more impressive is the stone carving in its inner courtyard. The railings are lion’s heads are a delight.

Restaurant
Cum Laude Gourmet - Cvm Lavde - Restaurante is a popular spot near the historic Plaza Mayor, known for its unique atmosphere and dance area resembling the Plaza Mayor. The menu offers a variety of dishes, with the hand-cut Iberian ham being highly recommended. While some patrons found the food to be excellent, there were mixed reviews about the service. The lunch menu is praised for its value and delicious offerings.
My daughter and I had a wonderful meal to celebrate my birthday. Being vegan we were concerned that they would not be able to cater for us - but we were offered 3 dishes which were all delicious! The service was friendly and attentive and the ambience was relaxed but special. A perfect birthday dinner!
Abigail N — Google review
I have never left a negative review in my life, but I feel compelled to speak up after my recent experience. I ordered a 40-day dry-aged steak—priced at 50 euros. While rare is typically the standard for such cuts, what I received was clearly medium-well. This might not bother the average diner, but for those of us who truly appreciate the craft and nuance of dry-aged beef, it’s unacceptable. A steak aged over a month deserves precision and care in preparation—neither of which I received. To be clear, this is not the kitchen’s fault. The issue lies with the server, who made an assumption about how I wanted my steak cooked—likely based on my appearance—rather than simply asking. That assumption was not only incorrect, but deeply unprofessional and, frankly, insulting. Had my Spanish been stronger, I would have addressed this directly. But the fact remains: at this price point, and with such a premium dish, no guest should be subjected to presumptions instead of respectful service. I’ve dined at many establishments and never once had to complain about how a steak was cooked—until now. The flavor, texture, and character that should define a properly aged steak were compromised. I left not just disappointed, but genuinely disrespected. For a restaurant of this caliber, the execution—from service to plate—should reflect excellence. Unfortunately, this experience reflected the opposite. e least.
Cavanaugh P — Google review
Their quality of food was just amazing. From antipasto to desert, nothing failed. It was the best restaurant among the whole places I visited in Spain. Compared to it's quality, the price seemed extremely reasonable too. Will definitely visit again when I come back to Salamanca.
Lemmy — Google review
The food is excellent, really good food. However, I found a few of the waiters a bit rude/careless. One older waiter threw the plates literally on the table and we saw the spices jumping from the plates. Next to this the food was served in a quick pace.
Pim E — Google review
A group of 5 came for dinner, the tapas and raciones selection were great, and there was something for everyone, accompanied by a nice bottle of crianza it was even better. Table service was fast and friendly definitely worth a visit.
Andy S — Google review
The best food I had in Salamanca! We had the salmorejo, mussels and the tartar and they were incredible. I don’t eat meat, and they accommodated me and made my meal vegetarian. They even gave us a free appetizer! So good!!
Ines C — Google review
Near the historic Plaza Mayor, I would recommend any dish on the menu, but specially don't miss the hand cut Iberian ham, there are not too many places where you get such a professional cut and at reasonable price . We ordered half a dish of ham, half sirloin and half rice with presa (tender grilled Iberian pork). We had some beers and paid 50€, for two, is true that it was a light dinner with no desert.
PM H — Google review
Excellent service and food. We got lucky but you need to make reservations on weekends. Even at the end of October, Salamanca was packed.

Gatsby in Salamanca is a lively bar and disco with its own dancefloor, making it a great spot for dancing. It's located near other popular spots like Camelot, La Perla Negra, Zhivago, Capitolium, La Hacienda, La Posada de las Animas and La Bibliotheca. The area around Gatsby is filled with pubs and clubs catering to various preferences.
Ok Music and cheap drinks. The place opens until late and it is usually crowded at the end of the nigh. Drinks are cheap but the quality is not the best, the hangover next day will be rough so watch out!
Miguel E — Google review
DO NOT GO HERE OR INTERACT WITH THE PROMOTERS. The promotors are very aggressive in the plaza and PUNCHED my friend in the face. This is so ridiculous as we were just trying to get them to stop bothering us.
Mia C — Google review
Just horrible. Disinterested staff, overpriced and nothing to recommend. Avoid.
Adam D — Google review
maybe next time you pay creepy men to harass women to come into your club, make sure they don’t have crippling anger issues and insecurity. tell me why one of those nasty “promoters” (the short ugly one who has probably never convinced anyone to go to that club in his life) called us “ugly btches” and then punched our friend in the face all because we didn’t want to go to the worst club in all of salamanca. genuinely the most embarrassing behavior i’ve ever seen i swear i saw tears streaming down his face as he tried to cuss us out and insult us. i get your life already sucks because you’re a club promoter who is a head shorter than all the women u beg to go to gatsby, but jesus christ learn some decorum. genuinely the rankest, nastiest bar in all of salamanca. avoid at all costs, especially if you’re a woman. unless you want to get jumped by a gang of short ugly men with anger issues.
Sophie — Google review
Three stars is possibly a bit generous. It’s obvious this place is a student type bar with the toilets in the state that they are in. Cocktail menu is basic, they were fine. Bit on the pricey side for what they are and the beer as well could be a tad cheaper. From the menu it looks like the gin and tonics are where they shine but can’t comment. Average bar on the strip basically, better places in Salamanca
Hayden — Google review
Not great... 13 euros for 2 drinks...late at night when nobody was around
Jason B — Google review
Definitely overpriced. It looks like a bar were you can get a cheap beer and a decent cocktail, but the bill is a terrible surprise.

Gran Café Moderno, with over 30 years of history, offers a unique nightlife experience in Salamanca. Despite its name, the bar's exposed-brick interior and antique style transport visitors to another era. It's a great spot to enjoy live music and spend time with friends. Other recommended places for nightlife include Gran Via 75 for live performances, Camelot in an old convent, and Birdland for jazz and indie music.
Excellent service! Laura made my night. Truly recommend this bar, please visit and have a blast like my group did.

(Translated by Google) I am very unhappy with my experience. Not only did I arrive and I was waiting 15 minutes for a bar manager to come out, since I was unattended, but on top of that the girl was rude and unpleasant, ignoring her obligation to serve me completely. The place is nice, however it has a very poor atmosphere.0 (Original) Estoy muy descontenta con mi experiencia.
Victoria — Google review
(Translated by Google) I like the place, the music is great, but the service is horrible. It's unheard of to ask for a cloth to wipe the table after a badly served beer, only to have to clean it up. At least the waitress has the intention of cleaning it up. We had to wait over 10 minutes to order three beers, even though the bar was empty. (Original) El local me gusta, la música de lujo pero la atencion es horrible. Lo nunca visto es pedir una bayeta para limpiar la mesa por servir mal una cerveza y que nos tocará limpiar, al menos tener la intención de limpiar la camarera. Fuyi M — Google review
(Translated by Google) Very unpleasant service, considering that the bar was empty. The waitress explained the drinks with reluctance, responded with “well, I should have ordered it all together” when we ordered another drink and was upset because we paid with a card, giving us the wet ticket. They took away our jug without having finished it, so the supposed promotion of refilling it has no reliability. Such a borderline attitude makes no sense if we were the only ones. Very bad experience.

(Translated by Google) Terrible service. A waitress with bangs who has no desire to live, work, or exist. She transmits bad vibes without looking you in the eye, speaks disrespectfully, and seems annoyed when you order from her. She seems like a civil servant with 30 years of service. Beer hall
El Puerto de Chus is a versatile spot that offers a great experience for visitors. In the summer, you can enjoy buckets of beer with friends while sitting outside, and in the winter, you can head inside to appreciate the small town-themed bar. The atmosphere is excellent, prices are very reasonable, and customers receive great treatment. The staff, particularly a young waiter with long hair at the back, is fast, friendly, and attentive to all needs.
Nice place
Antxon A — Google review
Rude, sexist waiter (kept making rude and obnoxious comments about the way ladies were dressed) who kicked us out because one person was wearing shorts that he deemed “sports”. Becuase “no sports clothes allowed”. He was wearing the same shorts as we were and a sports T-shirt. Petty much?
Zuzanna G — Google review
Outside terrace in the sun beside the bus stops. The main problem here is that the toilets are absolutely disgraceful. Graffiti all around and doors that don’t lock. No toilet paper. No soap. No driers that work. No paper towels. If you go back up the stairs to the bar they will give you toilet paper on request! 🙄
Noel — Google review
The owner (Toñi) of this place is an obnoxious quite xenophobic person, I was told to leave without any explanation while asking for service here. Giving 1 star is a lot. A report was sent to the consumer rights authority.
Gonzalo A — Google review
Absolutely disgusting toilets, no paper no soap will never return, worst experience and they have the neck to tell people what to wear. Don’t go
Denise M — Google review
(Translated by Google) I usually come here often with friends, always very good, to this day, I ask the waitress for a bucket and it's very good, she treats me well and charges me the usual price. We finish the bucket and I go to ask the waiter in pink pants who is smoking and he gets upset because I tell him that he will give me a bucket when he can. It's not for nothing but the man's attitude is regrettable, if you work in hospitality you have to be friendly and polite, at least have respect for customers. One more customer they lose.

(Translated by Google) It's simply ridiculous to see a place in the middle of 2025 that, if you go to have a soft drink on its outdoor terrace at 7 p.m. in the middle of summer, tells you they won't serve you if you're wearing sportswear. No wonder it's the only terrace in the area where you can find a spot, and with such bad reviews... not a place recommended for anyone who simply wants a drink in a healthy environment. The owner should take a look. It's a shame he doesn't put the same effort into providing good service as he does into dictating absurd rules. A businessman with vision. Huerto de Calixto y Melibea is a charming garden located near the cathedrals in Salamanca, offering diverse plant species and stunning views of the cathedral and the river. This botanical paradise, named after characters from 'La Celestina,' invites visitors to relax in its serene atmosphere while admiring statues dedicated to Fernando de Rojas' literary masterpiece. The garden's historical significance is further enhanced by its proximity to the remains of the Roman Walls.
This is a great place to relax and get away from the crowd. It can get busy but there are plenty of places to sit and get privacy. I also love lizzards and there several types to view. There were also a few types of birds. It's like a small zoo!

Such a quaint and peaceful park to laze in , on a lovely sunny afternoon in this amazing city of Salamanca . There’s lovely well manicured pathways all around this park that intertwine and all lined with spectacular floral displays or arched corridor trees , lovely sculptures dotted around the park and the views are breathtaking, this is a very nice place to visit .

The garden is beautiful, but half of the plants dry out because of lack of watering. There is irrigation system, but apparently it's not turned on regularly which is important in the summer, so the soil is always dry. It's a shame that such a beautiful place is not taken care of.

This is one of my favorite places in Salamanca and it is gorgeous during the day or night. The trees, plants, and flowers are lovely and there is shade during the hot summers. It's so peaceful here, people are usually respectful and not yelling, so I liked coming here to write poetry. There are a lot of young and old couples in love hanging out on the many benches, so it's a great place for dates, but would also be perfect for families, friends, and singles. It's right next to the hostel for pilgrims going to Santiago and is free to enter. Also, the hours are wrong - I went late at night when it said it was closed and it was still open.

This was an absolutely beautiful garden with a great outlook over the city. We brought our kids and they enjoyed walking around looking at plants and playing with some rocks on the ground, because obviously every kid finds rocks to be the most fascinating thing in the entire world. Way more fascinating than the garden or the view! In all seriousness, we had lots of fun.

This is a small and charming garden located just to the southeast of Salamanca Cathedral. You enter through a brick wall opening at the end of Calle Arcediano. Within there are manicured grounds and landscaped flowerbeds, a bust dedicated to La Celestina, fountain, benches and an elevated viewpoints of the Historic Centre as well as the Cathedral.

La Clerecía is a historic baroque Catholic church in Salamanca, originally a Jesuit seminary and now home to the Pontifical University. The church features bell towers offering sweeping city views and is still officiated by the Jesuits. Nearby are other notable churches and convents, including the Italian-style church of the Augustinians and the Dominican convent of San Esteban.
A must while in Salamanca. The views are breathtaking. Lots of stairs, but worth the effort.
Maggie R — Google review
Visit these towers for a fabulous view of Salamanca. They are accessed via a wooden staircase (not a stone spiral staircase) so it's relatively easy to climb. You can walk between the two towers and also ascend further up each tower. Entrance price was not expensive and it was not busy on a cold day in April even though it was just before Easter. We bought tickets at the entrance. We preferred doing it at our own pace rather than with a guided tour.
GG — Google review
The building is beautiful, yes, but I don't think the visit is worth it for those who want to learn about its history because, besides seeing very little, the guide isn't very clear, and there's not really time to read and compare what's on the building's walls during the tour. However, the price isn't that high, and at the top of the tower, you can take some good photos.
Hugo S — Google review
After 198 stairs you arrive to the top of the tower. The landscape is great and you can see all the city because you have a 360° view in several wonderful windows. The visit to the tower have a price of 3.75€ and have a timetable. Here you can visit the another monument the church but you need pay another ticket. Some hours they have guided visits too.

Night over Salamanca. La Clerecia Church or the church of the clergy. Construction of the church started probably in 1599 according to the order of Queen of Spain Margaret of Austria (1584-1611) and had been accomplished in 1617, but final works were accomplished only in 1754. Church was built as the act of reparation to the Order of Jesuits for the act of imprisonment suffered by its founder Ignatius Loyola (1491-1556) by the Inquisition in the Mocha Tower of the Old Cathedral of Salamanca. Loyola was brought before the ecclesiastical inquiry commission of Inquisition on the charge of sympathy with the Alumbrados (Illuminaties) but was released with admonition only. So, even Loyola, who was canonized in 1622, appeared in Inquisition as the defendant. In fact, Inquisition acquitted defendants and requested simple repentance very often. Church was confiscated from Jesuits after their expulsion from Spain in 1767 according to Pragmatic Sanction issued by the King Carlos III of Spain (1716-1788). Church was grunted to the Royal Clergy of San Marcos and received its present time name, La Clerecia. Salamanca, Castile and Leon, Kingdom of 🇪🇸 Spain 🇪🇸. November 30, 2014.

Despite having been waiting at the bar for 10 minutes, when we ordered drinks at the bar, the blonde waitress decided to ignore us and serve some guys who had just arrived. After that fact, we decided to ask the other waitress there and even after the humiliation of her companion, we had to put up with bad faces and moral lessons. Of course we asked for the claim form, to which we received the response that they did not have them. If these ladies don't like their jobs, let them resign and make room for other people who want to work more and who surely need the money more. Salamanca Cathedral is a grand Gothic and baroque edifice adorned with intricate carvings, including an unexpected astronaut added in the 1990s. The Old Cathedral and the New Cathedral stand side by side, making it initially challenging to distinguish between them. Visiting both cathedrals may be more appealing for religious purposes, while those seeking picturesque views and artwork can enjoy stunning interior vistas from the Ieronimus tower.
Very nice cathedral (and a great option for mid/late in day when temps rise to high 30 Celsius). The audio guide is essential but goes a little overboard sometimes giving names of nobility, artists, clergy, you name it. The old cathedral attached is also very interesting, it has even older relics.
Jose L — Google review
A beautiful cathedral. On if two! It is the ‘new’ one but still of an age and richly decorated. Even though it was a Sunday it was closed as it was between masses. The outside it still worthy of visiting with its elaborate carving. Several of the statues have had their heads removed which happened during the war with the French. A stunning part of a stunning town. Don’t forget to look for the astronaut which has been carved into some of the renovations which are in a lighter material.
G M — Google review
The entry fee is 10 € without discount but well worth the price to maintain this incredible cathedral. The high altar and choir are amazing as well as the grandeur of the entire church(es). Lovely to be able to see the difference between the new and old so easily. The use of the audio guide (incl. with ticket), a guidebook or a real guide is helpful to understand the architecture, history and artwork of the cathedral. For a different view of the cathedral, do the Ieronimus Tower Tour. Entrance to the tower is on the other side of the cathedral.

It's one of 2 cathedrals in Salamanca and is the seat of the diocese of Salamanca. Built between 1533 and 1733 with mix of Gothic and Baroque styles - one of the largest Cathedrals in Spain with one of the tallest bell tower. We visited in the night and stayed on to the night when they had an Easter procession in the streets. Popular place that is not free entry. Easy walking to get there, but many people visit it so you have to be patient.

Palacio de la Salina is located just off Calle San Pablo. It is a stately mansion built by Don Rodrigo de Messia in 1538. The palace later served as a salt business HQ and in 1881 fell into the hands of the Provincial Council. Seems there are art exhibitions that can be visited at Palacio de la Salina at times. There didn't seem to be one taking place during our recent visit, hence we only able to look around the inner courtyard, taking in the charming Plateresque style arched entrance, elevated balconies and other impressive decorative features. I was really excited to sing a few Spanish songs with friends, but apparently that’s not allowed here. They completely skipped over every Spanish song we queued up, while English songs kept getting played non-stop. It’s clear they’re only interested in keeping a certain crowd happy, and that crowd doesn’t include anyone wanting to sing in a different language. Super uncomfortable experience — we didn’t feel welcomed or respected

Loved this placd so much I came back the next night. The ONLY minor thing is the fries were undercooked on night 2 but it was more their peak time, so a little busier. But let it be noted most people would be happy to wait an extra 5 minutes for crispy fries. Otherwise awesome staff, decor and fun music

I’ve been to this karaoke place several times, and every time I try to sing a song in Spanish, they completely ignore my request. Meanwhile, English songs get played instantly, especially if you’re singing something mainstream. It feels like they cater only to English-speaking customers and dismiss anyone who wants to sing in another language — especially Spanish. This isn’t just about music preferences. It’s about inclusion and respect. If you advertise that it’s open karaoke, everyone’s voice should matter — not just the ones singing in English. Super disappointed and won’t be coming back.

La Chupitería in Salamanca, affectionately known as Chupi by locals, is a popular shot bar where you can find a wide variety of shots for as little as 1 euro. It's a favorite among both students and locals, making it the perfect spot to kick off your night out. The bar's bluish lights create an inviting atmosphere, and their signature shot, El Chupito, topped with whipped cream, is a must-try.
1€ shots with lots to choose from. Great at any time, but if you come after 1 am it can become so crowded that getting to the bar is hard. Be sure to try the chupitos de lima!

The Ieronimus Tower, also known as the Old Cathedral, is a must-visit in Salamanca. It offers a unique opportunity to explore the medieval towers and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Visitors can walk around exterior terraces, lookout points, and balustrades while admiring historic adornments such as gargoyles and pinnacles. The tower provides insights into architectural evolution from Romanesque to Gothic styles and allows access to hidden parts of the cathedral.
Great way to get a bird's eye view of the city and surrounding countryside. You get to see parts of the new cathedral as you weave your way to the top of the tower. The spiral staircase gets a little bit tighter the higher you go up but there are timers that let you know when you can go up or down. You can actually go into the bell tower while the bells are chiming. It's pretty loud but neat to experience.
Benjamin C — Google review
One of my favourite visits at Salamanca, wonderful view of insight and outside of the cathedral, and of course the surroundings (including the library). Interesting historical information though (currently) only in Spanish. The stairways are not suitable for young children or the infirm.
Sonja F — Google review
Worth every cent and step! This is a very special thing to do in Salamanca! Not only did we get incredibly beautiful views from the top of the tower, we got incredible views from several sides of the cathedral and into the cathedral! A lot of fun going in and out of doors to new views. Such a surprise to be high above the nave of the cathedral. Also a blast being scared by the ringing bells while right under them in the bell tower! There is a "traffic light" to keep people from having to pass each other in the winding staircase. The exhibits are very good too. The 1566 book on Aristotle...wow. We booked our tickets on line for a timed entry and would recommend doing this as there were some groups going in also.
Linda B — Google review
Great value €4 each to visit the towers of the cathedral’s. Views across the city and beyond. Get to see inside the cathedral too from a high up viewing area. Keep an eye out for the storks nesting on the university bell tower and surrounding buildings. Information is only in Spanish. QR codes for English but the free wifi is not the best and signal 4G is very poor.
M B — Google review
Well worth a visit and excellent value for money. You are able to view the cathedral and the city from different points during the climb, so you can take plenty of rest between each stage. There are interesting displays at each stage too. Really liked the birds eye view inside the cathedral. Great views of the historic centre. Interesting to observe the resident stork perched on one of the roofs. For us it would have been helpful to have some information in English.
Gill B — Google review
This is a fun bell tower to climb! It’s helpful that they have “traffic lights” to know if the stairs are clear. I can’t imagine trying to do this in peak season though?!
Kat F — Google review
Absolutely amazing, the best thing to do on a long list of great things in Salamanca. Visit the Cathedral first then see it from a wonderful view. You can never normally walk on those balconies high up in cathedrals, bows your chance. Then on to roofs and real close ups of the stunning architecture on both the old and new(1700) buildings. Enjoy great views over the city. All for €4 pp. They have a great traffic light system for the narrow stairs so no trying to pass people. Use the free Wi-Fi to scan the QR codes. We really loved this experience, DO NOT MISS IT.
Robin T — Google review
Dont pay to visit the cathedral. Just pay 4 euros for this tower and you get to see both cathedrals from upper floor. Great deal

In the heart of Salamanca, you'll find the Convent of San Esteban, a historic Dominican monastery renowned for its picturesque cloisters and an impressive facade adorned with intricate reliefs. As you explore the area, don't miss the opportunity to visit Plaza de Carvajal and discover the intriguing Cave of Salamanca, steeped in legend and mystery.
A must if you are interested in architecture, art and history. The convent has a peaceful vibe. When we went, there were only 2 other visitors which made our visit even more memorable because it was easy to imagine how it was like when the religious personnel were living here. We took more than 2 hours going from room to room, all the way to the top. We enjoyed looking at the details and taking it all in. The courtyard at the centre was one of our highlights, and the view from the top was stunning. The sun shone from time to time, streaming through the open spaces and it felt quite magical.

A gem of a museum and it is free! Beautifully curated and organized information and artifacts about the history of Leon and surrounding area. Appreciated that most signage had English translation as Google translation can be time consuming & not always very accurate with signage in museums. The staff were kind and there are lockers in front to place bags. Toilets in the basement. We easily spent 1-1/2 hours here and could have definitely stayed longer.
Linda B — Google review
An absolute must-see in Salamanca. It's very beautiful and interesting. The view from the choir is breathtaking and the cloisters are peaceful. We saw our first storks here too.
Lighthouse C — Google review
The Convent of San Esteban is not merely a monument of stone and cloisters, but a resting place of history itself. Within its walls lie several illustrious figures of Spain’s intellectual and spiritual heritage, among them Francisco de Vitoria, whose pioneering work on the rights of the indigenous peoples of the Americas laid foundations for modern human rights. Alongside him rest other eminent Dominicans such as Domingo de Soto, Mancio de Corpus Christi, Pedro de Sotomayor, and Matías de Paz, each leaving their own mark upon theology and philosophy. Yet what most captured my attention was the presence of Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, the formidable 3rd Duke of Alba. One of the greatest military commanders of his age, feared by his enemies and revered by his allies, his name alone evokes the discipline, power, and severity of Spain’s Golden Century. To stand in such proximity to his remains is to feel, if only briefly, the weight of empire and the echoes of a man who shaped history.

St. Stephen's Convent is an important Dominican monastery It is open from 10am to 2pm & 4pm to 8pm daily and entry is (€4.50 per adult). Visits include access to both lower and upper floors of the cloisters as well as the main church building. The buildings you see today were constructed between around 1524 to 1610 and represent fine examples of Plateresque architecture as well as Gothic and Baroque features. Within the cloisters, there are information panels located around both floors of the cloisters to help you understand what you are seeing when viewing the building architecture, items of antiquity and seeking to learn a bit of the monastery's history. The church is laid out in the shape of a latin cross with a tall narrow nave with ribbed vaults. The heavily gilded reredos screen created by Jose de Churriguera (1692) is remarkable. The upstairs choir area (accessed through the cloisters) is impressive. From here you can view the lower section of the nave and Churriguera's reredos quite well. You will definitely want to spend a few minutes as well viewing the exterior facade of the church, this is considered a masterpiece of Plateresque.

A superbly authentic tapas bar in the middle of Salamanca. Notorious for their "pork cheek", you'll be dazzled with local flavours. Service was beyond impeccable - and huge respect to the waiter for his awesome recommendations! Absolutely recommend

Excellent for shared raciones for a group. We got their classic Hetas -- which is exactly like a Filipino Crispy Pata. Got some callos, sweetbreads (cow brain), and stir fried clams to pair up with the fatty pork! For drinks, I recommend a Clara beverage. This lemony beer drink pairs well with all the salty tapas you are getting.

Convento de las Dueñas is a 15th-century convent in Salamanca's old town, founded in 1419 for Dominican nuns. It showcases Mudejar architecture and features a church and cloister added around 1533. The building boasts beautiful tiling characteristic of Moorish decor and an ornate Plateresque facade. Visitors can explore the church, cloisters, refectory, and monks' cells while enjoying the peaceful gardens.
So peaceful and beautiful. There is a small exhibition dedicated to Sister Teresa Chikaba and her story, a peaceful garden with roman columns and a moorish doorway, fabulous stone carvings in the cloister and a views of the cathedrals. You can buy cookies from the nuns as well. Refined simplicity and worth a visit

Gülpembe T — Google review
We tried this place after reading good reviews. We found it not appealing at all. Firstly we were blatantly laughed at for not speaking Spanish when we couldn't understand them too well, which was the first turn off. We placed our order at the bar which we were sat right next too, when our drinks were ready they didn't want to bring them to where we were sitting they wanted us to collect them ourselves even though there was no other customers and we were right next to the serving area ; fine no problem just seemed quite unhelpful since we're ordered 5 drinks. Food arrived was basically fine, toppings on "tapas" were ok. It's basically supermarket bread with something on top, pedrons were good that was about it but we felt if we wanted to pay 30€ for some sandwiches we could have just gone to the supermarket ourselves and made them much better, didn't seem traditional or authentic at all. When we paid the girl at the bar she couldn't even fake a smile, we actually found it sort of funny in the end as we couldn't quite believe how they could be so rude. Would skip it if you're not Spanish as they don't seem to care for non Spanish speakers. Plenty of other choices on the same street, choose one of those instead

Cafe Dominicos is situated along Calle San Pablo just across from the Convent of San Esteban. Opening hours are 8.30am to midnight daily. They have a fair sized indoor seating area with casual decor, timely service and traditional Spanish dishes depending on the time of day. There are outdoor tables as well. We had a quick breakfast here before spending our day out sightseeing. Coffee, churros and croissant all tasted as expected, were served quickly and priced reasonably. Everything was just fine for us. Cafe Dominicos served its purpose as needed. This was truly excellent. A diverse menu with dishes for all dietary requirements, each perfected to an incredibly high standard. The atmosphere was brilliant, not too loud, just the right volume. The staff were all lovely, and I was very grateful for them accommodating us by speaking to me and my family in both English and Spanish (however I must say I was pleased I was able to speak a good amount of Spanish and come up with some decent replies!). The food is very quick to come out. There wasn’t a single empty table in the place and they still manage to keep on top of things really well. Highlights for me were the Pork Belly, sirloin, and The truffled duck egg. We also had pretty much everything pork and it was all truly incredible. I think my favourite dishes were the pork dishes. Really highly recommend.

We are on an escorted tour with Collette Tours and our tour manager Philip suggested this place. We arrived for dinner but the place was full with reservation, so I made reservations for the next night. We were seated right next to the kitchen. It was fun watching the chefs prepare the dishes. We felt like we were watching Top Chef. Great atmosphere. We had a variety of tapas, all excellent. We had the Pork skewer marinade Moorish style, the smoked Iberian top shoulder pastrami bun, grilled pork belly roll, the lamb "pincho" oaxaca, and white wine. The most interesting item was the lamb "pincho". We were told to eat it from the bottom. The top had a chocolate syrup. It was a combination of savory and sweet. We really liked it! I really wanted to try the braised scallop, but was pretty full by then. In fact, we gave some of the pork skewer to our friends who were at the next table. For tapas, it's on the pricey side, but the taste, quality, culinary experience and presentation outweighed the prices. The staff was friendly and helpful when we were looking through the menu. If we ever get back to Salamanca, I would definitely dine here again.

Excellent place to get delicious tapas. Lots of wine options and tasty food offerings. I would recommend getting a reservation. I managed to get a seat as I arrived early, but I saw a number of people get turned away. It was a lively venue, with good vibes. They had some English speaking staff and English menus for people like me with poor Spanish skills, but the majority of the patrons were Spanish. It clearly enjoys popularity with locals and travellers alike. I can definitely recommend it.

Had a delicious dinner here last night. Every member of the team there was fantastic. They were all very kind, attentive, and lovely and took time to explain the vegetarian options on the menu as well as to tell me about the desserts. I had the scallops (10/10, citrusy and the oil was delicious as well, dip your bread in it), patatas bravas (9/10, quite good, hugeee portion), the avocados (20/10, out of this world, would go back only to have this, so flavorful and fresh), tinto de verano (10/10 lovely), and for dessert, the cheesecake (10/10, one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had, so creamy and loved the flaky crust as well). Can highly recommend to vegetarians (but not vegans). Oh, and whoever was in charge of music last night, loved it! It was all 90s and 2000s hits and your girl enjoyed that thoroughly. Remember to reserve in advance. Thank you team 😊

Really wonderful meal here. Some really unique flavours mixed in with some classics Spanish dishes. The ibérico pork was the standout - genuinely sensational

The Palacio de Monterrey, a historic 16th-century building, is a prime example of Spanish Renaissance architecture. It has influenced various architectural styles and served as an inspiration for other notable buildings. Located near Plaza Mayor, it's part of a charming area in Salamanca that includes the Convent of Las Ursulas and the College of Archbishop Fonseca. The palace features beautiful Renaissance design with a no-photo policy inside until you reach the roof tower.
A very unique palace with intricate ornaments. It's a great look to the past with the Renaissance architecture.
Joe M — Google review
Beautiful historical palace of the Duke of Alba, one of the most relevant noble lineages in Spain. It serves as a family house, but it can be visited (check the schedule because it varies). Normal ticket (7.5€ w/o kitchen, Dec 2022) includes a taped guided tour, there are also tours with a guide some days per week (Tue, Thu afternoon). The palace's exterior is magnificent. The interiors are very impressive too and worth the visit, although not ranking among Spain's best. No pics inside, except from the top of the tower. It takes ~45 min listening to the guide, otherwise much less. Lots of stairs, although not terribly steep.
Alejandro N — Google review
This Palace is a unique museum of the wealthy Alba family built around 1500 is a fine example of Spanish Renaissance architecture. It is located in the city and entry fees are payable. The Alba family has several properties throughout Spain.

Great representation of the 'Plateresco' style, with only two towers (the project was to build a square building, but failed, and only was built one side of the entire project). But is enough to watch it, also it's curious the furniture and renovations made by the Alba Duchesses to live there in the 60's
Manuel — Google review
10€ for áudio guide for castle and kitchen. 60 min total. You're not allowed to take pictures inside. ONLY at the top of the tower in last Room.
Nuno C — Google review
Nice little palace but did not noticed the no photos rule displayed only at one place at the entrance office and the security guard yelled after me 2 times since I did not understand the rule was applied anywhere. Nice historic value but poor touristique approche. Wanted to get out of there after 2 minutes. Short visit for the price. They should display the no photo symbol on the audio tour explanations so we can clearly see it.
Dominic G — Google review
Very interesting insight into palace living both above and below stairs
Niki M — Google review
Exterior is nice which ironically is the one thing you don't need tickets for. For nearly ten euros per person you can see some of the ugliest furniture through the ages, see almost no artwork or pieces of historical value (save some tapestries), and loss your will to live while listening to a slow paced audio guide.

Awesome food, great prices, best service. Our family loved this place. We have come back a couple of times because the food is delicious and well served. This the best parrilla in Salamanca. I highly recommend it.

We were so happy to come here as the food is delicious. We had a beer and tapas first and then a meat platter for two and two glasses of red wine . Awesome food, great prices, best service. We were so happy with our service! We arrived just after 8pm to get a table outside. Highly recommend this place.

My husband’s favorite place in Salamanca to have grilled meats. The meat platter for 2 is more than enough for us. We took the leftover for takeout and ate them for dinner. The lady was very friendly and asked us how was our food even though we’re still not that fluent in spanish. Nos encantó todo :)
Cath — Google review
I watched the YouTube video of SteveMarsh about Salamanca, which brought me to this place. It was funny that the American couple sitting next to me went to this place after watching the same YouTube video. I had the parrillada which consists of sausages and different types of meat plus potatoes and pimientos de Padrón. It was very good. With a drink, it costed only 16€. Very good value. The place opens at 8pm in the evening and it gets crowded in the front. However if you are having dinner, you can sit in the back. It seems to be way less crowded.

Salamanca Central Market is a vibrant and historic outdoor market located in the Salamanca precinct on the Hobart waterfront. Every Saturday, visitors can immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere, colorful sights, and diverse flavors from 8:30am to 3:00pm. The market offers an array of fresh regional produce, including meats, cheeses, fish, fruit, breads, and pastries inside a charming 19th-century building.
It is a traditional market that opened in the late 19th century. The market building features a steel structure and a glass roof, showcasing a beautiful modern architectural style. It serves as an important place offering a variety of food products such as fresh produce, meats, fish, cheese, and bread. It is popular among those who love food and regional specialties, as it offers a wide range of local products for purchase.

Small municipal market. If you like ham and other products it is a nice place for it. Good fruits also available
Jose L — Google review
A great market in Salamanca, just outside of Plaza Mayor. Reasonably sized, not so massive it becomes an overwhelming maze of one vendor after another. Like Goldilocks, this one is just right, with everything you need - meats, cheeses, eggs, poultry, fruits, vegetables, etc. Do not skip this when you are in the area.
Jaded G — Google review
This market is not for the Muslim. It is non halal, many stalls sell pork and pork products. It is an excellent place to buy cooking ingredients. The seafood and meat are fresh. The saffrons and honey are of good value. The prices are acceptable. The market is well listed, clean and dry.
H P — Google review
Not as busy as some other markets in spain and smaller but still perfect. Great for veg meat and fish and a few very nice tapas bars as well. As I say smaller but still well worth the visit
Steve B — Google review
We went to the market square, bought some ham and cold cuts there, and were helped by a very nice guy named Sophian. What he recommended turned out to be delicious, and we’ll definitely be back in a few days 👍👍
José M — Google review
I like its Neo-Mudejar style, built with red brick and colorful ceramic decorations, inspired by Moorish architecture.

Fun experience visiting the market on a busy day!! All of the stalls full of meats, seafood and treats!! The Best Salamanca has to offer!! We were treated to a Port tasting with charcuterie delights!! Loved the cheese with Spanish prosciutto followed by a Tawny Port!! Just Delicious!! It’s incredible to see the variety of costs for these Spanish Hams.

Anaya Palace, located on the University of Salamanca campus, has a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Originally founded as a university residency in the 15th century, it now houses the Faculty of Languages and stands out as one of the few neoclassical-style buildings in Salamanca. The palace was once home to Colegio Mayor de San Bartolome and is adjacent to the Iglesia of San Sebastian.
A great place to visit the beautiful architecture of Spain. It's just a short walk away from the cathedral, so you can stop at both places when in the area.

Impressive facade of this palace, actually Philology faculty of the University, with a particular cloister, full of graffitis with the signature of known names for students.
Manuel — Google review
It's lovely with the historic university buildings surrounding it. During festive days, they decorate the place and some kiosks are established to sell gifts, accessories and pastries. It has a train that gives you a tour in the ancient streets surrounding the university but you have to check the schedule. Definitely worth the visit.

Breath history in the Universidad de Salamanca. There is little to visit inside beyond faculty offices, but the setting on the plaza across from the cathedral is spectacular.

Domus Artium 2002, also known as DA2, is a vibrant museum in Salamanca that showcases ever-changing contemporary art exhibits, workshops, and events. Located in a former prison building that was renovated and expanded for its new purpose, the museum offers a unique setting for exploring modern and contemporary art.
Awesome place, great exhibits and for free!

A big expanse of rooms displaying a wide range of modern art in what was formerly a prison. Nice artworks but the rooms were too spread out making it feel a little disjointed, otherwise an excellent free to enter art space.

If you adore modern art, Domus Artium 2002 (DA2) is your place in Salamanca. This old jail was transformed on an incredible and very flexible exhibition space where the most relevant contemporary art creators have brought to us their exciting view of current life horrors and beauty through their powerful interpretation. Do not miss it!!!

Niebla Cocktail Bar is a delightful gem located between the streets Iscar Peyra and Bordadores in Salamanca. The bar is staffed by friendly bartenders who speak excellent English and are known for making great recommendations. They carefully and creatively present their cocktails, which are described as absolutely delicious. The head mixologist is highly praised for expertise, methodology, quality liquor selection, and presentation.
Our first night in Salamanca for Christmas we went here to try to cocktails. Fantastic evening. We enjoyed classic fog, espresso martini and a gentlemanhatten. The cocktails are yummy and served theatrically, the ambiance is relaxed and busy, we made new friends and enjoyed the whole experience. The staff are friendly and professional and speak many languages. Thank you for a wonderful evening 😊

Such a charming bar/cafe with the most pleasant helpful staff , set in a lovely location with outdoor and indoor seating . We had a couple of refreshing drinks here after a long stroll around this extremely lovely city , the toilets are super clean and well stocked with toilet roll and soaps . Very chilled place to visit , the cocktails looked absolutely delicious.

Amazing cocktails, even better attention from the waiters, friendly, attentive -especial mention goes to the bearded guy-. Great atmosphere in general quiet terrace, awesome decoration inside. We came four times. We loved Martini coffee, Ginger fizz, Bramble, Margarita, Old Fashioned and much more.

We only had one evening in Salamanca and feel very lucky to have chosen this bar. Great mix of music to appeal to all. I was there with my daughter. We had just arrived from London where we had a few days in a 5 star hotel and the cocktails were no where near the quality of Niebla. No comparison. The cocktails here are superb in taste and presentation. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We are planning our next visit! Go. You won't be disappointed and it worked well for me with a disability.
Ros S — Google review
Beautiful outdoor patio in a park-like setting. Inside it's a traditional, warm darker pub setting. Very good cocktails, beer, wines and coffee. My margarita was classic, just the right strength and delicious! Highly recommend!
Steve R — Google review
Quite simply one of the best experiences I've ever had in a cocktail bar - a real treasure! I was blown away from the moment I walked in until I left. I highly recommend going here if you like a fantastic drink and amazing service while in the beautiful city that is Salamanca. I sat at the bar and got to watch the bartenders work their magic, it was a marvel to see. They worked phenomenally well together as a team, constantly communicating orders or additional things that were needed - they were a well-oiled machine and didn't miss a step. My bartender, Giorgia, didn't stop making drinks all night. It was one after the other but she did it all so seamlessly, knew every step of every cocktail, and didn't rush at all - it was amazing to see. She and the other bartenders also had time to converse with me and answer questions. Each drink she made was sublime and she even recommended one for me to try that she enjoyed making: 10/10 experience. Grazie mille, Giorgia! I frequently go to cocktail bars and I haven't seen this level of teamwork, communication, consistency, and excellent execution at many places so this was a real standout for me. It shows in the final product, since all the drinks I had were fantastic. The place itself is very cool looking as well and they even have outdoor seating. Add in good music all night, and you have the perfect atmosphere. Muchísimas gracias, Giorgia, Alan, Jorge, Fer, Rodo y compañía!!! Volveré!
