Jazz club
The Bridge Bar is a popular spot in Valletta, offering live jazz sessions with the stunning Grand Harbour as a backdrop. It has become a favorite among locals and draws jazz enthusiasts from all over Europe. The bar hosts weekly performances by both local and international musicians, creating a magical atmosphere that makes Friday nights memorable. Situated on a pedestrian bridge near Victoria Gate, it provides an idyllic setting for enjoying live music.
The jazz was really great!! The vibes really great!! Made friends with the people around us. Great way to end the day / start the weekend and for that long summer day feel. The mixed drinks were okay, but as long as there’s a fair amount of alcohol, it’s fine - that’s not the main attraction anyways. I think my understanding is that you don’t necessarily need a reservation but they like to fill the chairs, so you probably won’t get a table unless your party size works, even if the seats are open at the moment. But I think sitting on the steps was cozier 🥰
J P — Google review
Extremely busy on Fridays when there is live jazz outside. Good service and drinks at decent price. More chilled on a Saturday but still a good crowd and a nice vibe.
Darren F — Google review
Lovely outdoor sitting area with good drinks. Owner was extremely welcoming with a great positive attitude. There is also some indoor seating. They do jazz on Fridays which is probably lovely to see but we missed it
Sarah R — Google review
Brilliant jazz musicians in a wonderful setting on a Friday. My highlight of two weeks in Malta. Merlot was poor and no real selection and looked at like a child when I asked if they have a Malbec. Review doesn’t look great but if you lower expectation on the wine and just enjoy atmosphere and music it’s truly wonderful.
Danny A — Google review
Perfect spot for wine or cocktails! Make sure you don’t miss a Friday live jazz night!!! Reservations recommend, but there are seats on the stairs as well!
Eleftheria ( — Google review
This was one of our favourite things to do in Valletta. Worth booking in advance to get a table for the Friday eve jazz. Beautiful wine and food - shame there’s not a veggie charcuterie board available.
Mia G — Google review
We found this by chance as we was walking by and luckily for us it was Friday jazz night, brilliant setting and location, lots of seating available, especially the cushions on the stone steps, tables on a Friday is advisable to pre book , cheese boards etc are beautiful , food and drink are both priced very reasonably, friendly staff :) no table service, we had to order at the bar :) we will definitely be back:)
Shaun O — Google review
Really cool jazz bar where everybody sits on the outside steps and bridge to drink and chat, and on Friday nights, listen to live jazz music. We visited on the Monday & Tuesday, sadly it was closed, but returned on the Friday for a great evening. Staff were good and poured generous measures!

Cocktail bar
Cafe Society, located in the heart of Valletta, has become a hub for the jazz community due to its welcoming attitude towards musicians. The venue offers diverse entertainment such as movie nights and funk and disco events with renowned DJs. The bar is known for its exceptional cocktails and beverages served in a sophisticated yet comfortable setting that respects the architectural heritage of its surroundings.
Amazing view, fantastic cocktails. It's exactly what you need to take some downtime in Valletta, just sit on some steps, and sip away at a cool drink as you take in the local vibes.
Alexander K — Google review
Amazing cocktails. Great vibe. Friendly staff! We sat outside on the steps and enjoyed the great view. Such a great experience to sit on the steps with a small handmade table. The cocktails were incredible and creative, fair price for the location. I did get pooped on by a bird while sat outside! Staff were so helpful and got me a special “I got shat on” sticker (so it must happen a lot!) this defo added to the experience 🤣🐦 Would happily visit again and again!

I just wanted to have a beer after walking around Valletta for hours. It was love at first sight! Beautiful place, amazing staff and great drinks. I was by myself but I felt welcome and included! Thank you guys for making my stay in Malta even better!
SavvasGr — Google review
We were in Malta at the end of May for 4 nights and stopped at Cafe Society for cocktails on the steps twice it was so nice. The service by Matz from France was what made it so special! He remembered what we ordered and was so friendly. Stop by and have a drink on the steps !
Trish F — Google review
I love this place! This bar at the steps of the old town in Valletta offers some incredible cocktails, a super friendly staff and a great atmosphere! All this supported by DJs, live acts and shows. Perfect to enjoy some drinks, the music inside the bar or at the steps outside. You will always be welcomed with a smile and good vibes.
Nikita N — Google review
My favourite cocktail spot! Every one was unique and inventive, and it was fun to sit out on the stairs. Only issue was cleanliness, the cushions to sit on were very dirty and the steps themselves were covered in bird poop. If the cushions were proper garden ones that could be wiped down that would improve it a lot, and be a nicer environment to sip the delicious cocktails.

This was really the best espresso Martini in my whole life 😭❤️ these guys here take training and evolving as bartenders serious! Next level game they are playing. I would Give 10 stars if I could. Also a really untouristic alternative place with really cool people from all over the world that are thinking out of the box. You'll make New friends quickly! Also super relaxed to sit on pillows on the stairs of Valetta old city. 1000% love
Jo T — Google review
Juan, we miss you already! He was an incredible and knowledgeable bartender. We spent a couple hours here waiting for our excursion. We didn't want to leave! Everything was creative and so many things made in house. Whether sitting at the bar with Juan our sitting outside enjoying the view, we wish this was our neighborhood bar in California. Staff were so friendly and kind. It gives you dive bar vibes but great music and drinks and truly a hidden gem.

St. John's Co-Cathedral, completed in 1578, is a lavishly decorated place of worship filled with marble and European masterpieces. It is home to Caravaggio's renowned painting 'The Beheading of St John,' making it a baroque masterpiece. The cathedral shares its seat with St Paul's Cathedral in Mdina and stands out as one of the few co-cathedrals that actually includes the term in its name.
This Cathedral is a MUST!! I’ve visited a million churches but St. John’s is on my top 10 most beautiful in the world. It’s basically a museum when it comes to art. I “kinda” regretted not coming to mass, the more spiritual atmosphere seems so appropriate, but my schedule was tight. PURCHASE tickets in advance!! The live for pre-purchased tickets was only like 5-10 mins long. The last minute line was huge, instead. The Belfry requires reservations and separate tkt. The visits end around 15:00 (3PM). DO: Cover your shoulders: both sexes must do so. They can give you a ridiculous plastic shawl at the door, if you forgot that you are going to a church: modesty people! 😇 You don’t want to be that geek. Bermudas are ok, short shorts no. DON’T: Bring liquids other than a small bottle of water. Get ready to have your backpack inspected by security and wear it in front of you, also great to avoid pickpockets, although Malta is super safe, there’s always a bad apple 🍎
Bruce B — Google review
My Experience at St. John’s Co-Cathedral Even after living in Malta for twenty years, every time I enter St. John’s Co-Cathedral, I feel the same sense of wonder, as if I am stepping into a sacred dream. This place is truly gem; it holds a presence that is both powerful and peaceful. The golden walls shimmer with history, and the silence feels alive, filled with centuries of faith and devotion. The pavimento, with its intricate marble inlays, tells another story beneath my feet rest the tombs of the Knights and the clerics of the Order. Each stone is like a chapter of history, each symbol a reminder of honor, sacrifice, and belief. It feels as though their spirits still guard this holy place. And then, there is Caravaggio’s masterpiece, The Beheading of St. John the Baptist. No matter how many times I stand before it, I am always struck by its intensity. The light and darkness, the raw humanity, the silence that follows the violence it all reaches deep into the soul. It’s not just a painting; it’s a revelation in each single detail. As an Italian who has called Malta home for two decades, this cathedral feels like a bridge between my origins and my adopted island. Every visit reminds me that beauty, faith, and art can transcend time and language. St. John’s Co-Cathedral is not only a monument it is a living, breathing miracle.
Regina C — Google review
St. John’s Co-Cathedral is an **absolutely majestic and lavish masterpiece**. From the moment you step inside, you're surrounded by **ornate baroque architecture, gilded details, and stunning frescoes** that reflect the grandeur of Malta’s rich history. The site is **exceptionally well maintained**, and every corner tells a story. The **audio guide is available directly on your smartphone**, making the visit smooth and informative. It’s a great way to explore at your own pace while learning about the cathedral’s fascinating background. ⏳ **Tip**: Be sure to **buy your tickets online** in advance — it helps you **skip the queue at the entrance**, especially during peak hours. A must-see in Valletta for anyone interested in art, history, or simply breathtaking architecture!
Sebastien R — Google review
One of the best place to visit when you are in Malta. I recommend buying tickets in advance (skip the line one). Ticket for children under 12 is free. There is audio guide available at each section. Once you scan the qr code, you can listen to it. For few sections photography is prohibited so be wary of that. Most sections can be photographed with flash turned off at all times. My favourite section was the Caravaggio one. His paintings are hauntingly beautiful and you get to understand the composition, technique etc of the art. The Caravaggio show is only held on few dates so check and book in advance is recommended.
Manjari J — Google review
Magnificent cathedral. THE must-visit of Malta. Its opulence is comparable to the Vatican. The level of details is baffling. The chapels per language of the Knights also brings an interesting competition between various part. I highly recommend doing the Bell Tour tour.
Johan S — Google review
Beautiful. Worth seeing. I recommend buying tickets online as you skip the very long queue. Instead, there's a queue but shorter and you only wait up to 5 mins.
A — Google review
An absolute must-see! St John’s Co‑Cathedral in Valletta is breathtaking—from the richly decorated Baroque interior to the incredible Caravaggio masterpiece. The visitor experience is well-organized and immersive. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Malta!
Florian S — Google review
If you go to only one place in Valletta then this should be it. A whole day would hardly be long enough. The Caravaggio experience was a bonus and was fantastic - properly explored the painting techniques he used in a fantastic immersive format that the overpriced and disappointing shows in London could learn from. This is just a beautiful place to be. It does cost to get in - 15 euros if you don't qualify for a concession - but it is so worth it. A 10/10 experience.

Upper Barrakka is a picturesque public square and garden in Valletta, Malta, offering stunning harbor views and a peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can explore nearby attractions such as the St James Cavalier Arts Centre, the National Museum of Archaeology with its famous 5000+ years old 'fat lady' statuettes, St. John's Cathedral with Caravaggio paintings, and the Grandmaster's Palace.
This is definitely our highlight of the holiday! Especially if you're staying in Valletta this is simply a must see as it is a free attraction and absolutely breathtaking, it is so pretty and well kept however does get busy at Saluting Battery. There is a cafe at the top which is good for snacks and drinks and there are a lot of seats available. We visited end of May and it was getting quite busy and the weather was very hot in the day time so maybe give it a visit early to avoid crowds but it is stunning!
Maya — Google review
Excellent site to see the Grand Harbour of Malta. Peaceful place of flowering beauty to quiet the mind. At the overlook you can witness the Saluting Battery-traditional firing of a single canon at Noon and 4pm daily. It is impressive and loud! The firing was once used to welcome and set time for vessels in the harbour.
Susan C — Google review
⸻ 💥 Saluting Battery – Valletta 💥 The cannon firing at the Saluting Battery in Valletta is absolutely awesome and a must-see! It’s a brilliant glimpse into Malta’s rich history and naval traditions, brought to life with precision and ceremony. The setting overlooking the Grand Harbour makes it even more impressive – you can really feel the history echo through the city. Definitely one to add to your list when visiting Valletta! However, I do urge you to arrive at least an hour before the midday and 1600 cannon salutes because the crowds tend to gather early, and you’ll find yourself jostling for a decent view. The views from the gardens are worth a visit alone! The surround area has a really nice vibe to it as well.
Georgina T — Google review
Upper Barrakka Gardens is absolutely breathtaking! The panoramic views over the Grand Harbour are simply unforgettable, especially during sunset. The gardens are beautifully maintained, peaceful, and full of history. Watching the Saluting Battery was a highlight of the visit. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, this is the perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of Malta. Highly recommended!
Wimarshana B — Google review
Beautiful! Not very big. If you go at 12 and 4 pm they shoot the cannons which is cool. You can pay extra to go to the lower level and be right up close.
Rukia Y — Google review
The Upper Barrakka Gardens are a truly beautiful and peaceful place to visit while in Valletta. With stunning views over the Grand Harbour and across to the Three Cities, it’s an ideal spot for photos, relaxing, or simply enjoying the atmosphere. The architecture and layout of the gardens are impressive, and there’s a certain charm in the combination of nature and history that makes this place special. However, it’s important to keep in mind that during the high season, the gardens can get quite crowded, especially around midday when most tourists arrive. If you’re looking for a quieter experience, try visiting early in the morning or later in the evening. One detail worth noting is that the traditional cannon firing ceremony, which normally happens daily at noon, does not take place on Sundays. So if that’s something you were looking forward to, plan accordingly. Also, while the Upper Barrakka Gardens are beautiful, don’t forget to check out the Lower Barrakka Gardens as well. They are just as lovely, offer equally impressive views, and tend to be less crowded. It’s a great alternative if you’re hoping to avoid the tourist rush and enjoy a more peaceful atmosphere in the heart of Valletta.
Tosia D — Google review
Nice garden with incredible views of Valletta's surroundings. Also spotted a big cruise ship in the harbour! Nice flowers and a little cafe nearby!

Very nice terrace that dominates the port of Valleta. If you came via the port, you can just walk to the zebra cross and go via the tunnel to get the lift ticket (1€). A little bit crowded but still interesting 👍

Sports bar
Located on Republic Street in Valletta, The Pub is a historic and laid-back British-themed bar that has been operating since the 16th century. Frequented by locals and visitors alike, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with Union Jacks and Royal Navy flags adorning the interior. The late Oliver Reed, known for his role in Gladiator, was a regular patron of this establishment. Upstairs, guests can leave their mark on the infamous graffiti wall.
I was an extra in one of Oliver Reeds movies so he was a hero of mine. I had to visit the pub where he passed away. The pub is just how I imagined it to be. Old style British establishment, just the way I like it.Plenty of choice drink wise, friendly staff, t-shirts to buy and great atmosphere.
Paul D — Google review
The inside of the pub is very small holding only about 30 people but there are some table and standing space outside. This pub is most noted as the pub where Oliver Reed suffered a heart attack and subsequently died while filming Gladiator, and there are various photos of Oliver from throughout his career on the bar walls. You can even buy a t-shirt with his last drinks on. A bit strange but.... Worth a visit if only for nostalgic reasons.
The T — Google review
Lovely character pub and the honour of drinking in an establishment where the late, great actor Oliver Reed spent his final day. They have a great selection of wines and spirits and local and crafted beers. Good atmosphere if you're sat inside but the only down fall was the fact there is only one sit down toilet on the premises upstairs for a busy pub to share. Not good and the toilet wasn't very clean. Wouldn't put me off for returning one day.
David H — Google review
Lovely typical pub with great staff and delicious local beers and a wide range of spirits even if you aren’t an Oliver Reed fan, a lovely place to spend an hour or two.

A Pint of History and Heart: The Pub, Valletta 15/09/2025 The Pub in Valletta isn't just a place to grab a drink; it's a wonderfully authentic little slice of history and a truly unique destination. Tucked away on Archbishop Street, this unassuming bar instantly welcomes you with its classic, cosy British pub feel combined with genuine Maltese warmth. It’s small, unpretentious, and boasts an atmosphere that makes every visitor feel like a local. The service is exceptional—friendly, efficient, and always ready with a smile and perhaps a great story. Whether you're seeking a cold local Cisk or a traditional British ale, the selection is spot-on. It truly captures the essence of a great, no-nonsense local watering hole. But what elevates The Pub from a great bar to a mandatory pilgrimage for film and history buffs is its legendary status as a powerful, poignant, and surprisingly joyful tribute to the late, great actor, Oliver Reed. A Toast to Ollie: The Oliver Reed Tribute The entire establishment is a living, breathing memorial to the iconic "hellraiser" and celebrated star of films like Gladiator and Women in Love, who famously spent his final hours here in 1999 while filming his last movie. The walls are covered in photos, framed newspaper clippings, and memorabilia tracing Reed's wild, brilliant career. You can see his likeness everywhere, a constant, genial presence that gives the place its singular character. The ultimate, unmissable piece of history is the framed bar tab—Reed’s final, unfinished order, a testament to his legendary larger-than-life persona, is proudly displayed for all to see. Sitting at the bar, having a drink, or just taking in the stories immortalised on the walls, you feel a direct connection to the actor's spirit. It's a respectful, fun, and heartfelt tribute that ensures the memory of Oliver Reed lives on, inspiring fans from across the globe to come and raise a glass to the man who truly lived life to the fullest. The Pub is a must-visit: great drinks, great service, and an unforgettable celebration of a cinematic legend. Cheers!

The Valletta Waterfront is a picturesque destination that was originally built as port warehouses in the 1700s. Today, it serves as the home of the Valletta cruise port and features a stunning promenade with global restaurants, bars, and views of cruise ship activity. The landmark boasts original stores that have been converted into 19 restaurants offering various cuisines, offices, and unique shops.
Very clean and walkable city (gonna get some your elevation and steps in!). We started at the cruise port, headed to midtown, walked to the harbor and finished off past the fountain, with random stops along the way. Valletta / Malta is a superb hidden gem of a stop.

Beautiful spot to watch the sunset in the evenings, especially from spring to summer. It also has a host of restaurants with indoor and a common outdoor seating area while you enjoy the ocean breeze and sight of boats docked at their spots after sailing.

Oh my days! Valletta you stunning stunning place!!!! I had half a day and it will take weeks to explore you properly! But this is about the waterfront.... There are some proper waterfront bars eateries and casino type thing, there are charming port buildings and the staff are friendly and helpful and just lovely, then there is the lift (what a godsend!!!) and the little traditional boats too (next time!!!) and traditional tourist trap shops which we all love :)

The National Museum of Archaeology is located in the historic Auberge de Provence, a 16th-century building. It showcases a diverse collection of prehistoric artifacts, weapons, and sculptures found on the Maltese islands. The museum provides an extensive overview of Malta's prehistory, spanning from the Neolithic period to the Phoenician period. Visitors can marvel at early tools, pottery, and various depictions of animals and human figures dating back thousands of years.
I was sad the Neolithic section was closed for construction, (I wanted to see the Venus!) but the areas available were well presented and interesting. The displays of coinage and medals throughout the centuries was very interesting to this numismatist! And I'm pretty sure that's an alien's skull in the display... you'll have to see for yourself!
Traci N — Google review
This was a really lovely edition to the temples tour and the hypogium. You can see the old large skulls and all sorts of other very well preserved artefacts from the Neolithic period. There’s 3 floors to enjoy and it’s only 5EUR entry. Great way to kill an hour or two and lots to learn / see. There’s some other periods but I personally recommend the Neolithic one. It really fits well with the ancient history of the country. There’s toilets on site

Some museums win you over with their collections, others with their architecture. This one does both, which frankly feels a bit greedy. Housed in a building so beautiful you could happily wander it empty, the museum is a reminder that the Maltese don’t do “ordinary” when it comes to stonework. The exhibitions are superbly curated — thoughtful, detailed, and arranged with a clear sense of storytelling. You move from prehistoric figurines to intricate artifacts with the feeling that someone has actually thought about the journey you’re on, rather than just shoving things in glass cases and hoping for the best. And yet, in the middle of all this, there’s the numismatic collection. Perfectly fine if you’re a coin enthusiast, but otherwise it’s a bit like finding a box of receipts in the middle of a grand opera. Interesting in its way, but it does feel like it wandered in from another museum and decided to stay. Still, that’s a minor quibble. Between the building itself, the sheer depth of the collection, and the skill with which it’s presented, this is one of those rare museums where you leave feeling smarter — and only partly because you spent two hours reading captions in your “educational” voice. Five stars, and I’d come back just to walk through that building again, coins and all.

Bottom section currently closed not sure for how long but upper level was open. There was still a lot of cool and interesting stuff to check out from various periods. The history is incredible. I would say a must see.

Next to the excavation site. Staffs are very helpful. Must see the faded painting of boat on the rock, well preserved at the museum. With some effort, you will be able to witness 4500 years old rock painting. unbelievable experience. Must go with family, kids would love this.

Fascinating exhibition. I was particularly impressed by the collection of ancient figurines. Definitely worth the visit if you're a fan of archaeology or want to learn something new about the past.

I love this museum, the staff is very well informed, exhibitions are interesting and everything is explained very clearly! Kudos for funny comics strops and the newly renovated grand room.

Awesome place. I was here on October's Sunday and it was calm, few people inside. English audio guide is British as hell (there're other options like Polish). Ask for it at the reception, there's an QR code for you to open on your phone's browser. Museum also has its own public wifi so don't worry about roaming data. Definitely take your own earphones/headphones for that. If you're curious about this island, then you must visit.

Yard 32 Gin & Tapas Bar is a vibrant and popular spot located in the heart of Valletta. The bar's chaotic yet beautifully-curated storefront with colorful tiles and flowerboxes creates a joyful aesthetic. While renowned for its extensive gin selection, Yard 32 also offers an eclectic cocktail menu and freshly made tapas that can be ordered from a hatch in the wall.
Cool spot with a massive variety of gins including their own infusions. Drinks are around the €9-10 mark, so dearer than other spots in Valletta but better quality. They also have a good selection of individual tapas at a reasonable price. Bonus points for the excellent playlist of jazz and funk which made me stop in the first place!

Great selection of tapas, get as many as you like. We had 1 each with our drinks. Huge range of gins. Cool atmosphere on a quiet street

Incredible food, superb drinks and tentative bartenders. Omg, soooooo happy I found this place going out for tapas with my wife. The live music was also so soul-full and plays bangers non-stop without becoming boring. Best vibe we have got Malta until now 🤟 Thank you ❤️

Who said gin was only for special occasions. If you wander on a sunny day in valetta, please make it a must to sip a maltese summer. Yes it's a gin refreshing quencher (with moderation of course). At 2pm it was too early for tapas that starts at 5.30pm. Cozy small bar with a wonderful selection to try.

The National War Museum - Fort St Elmo, established in 1975, offers a restored space to delve into Malta's military history through its collection of artifacts and exhibits. The museum is located within the Valletta shopping scene, where visitors can explore various designer brand shops and luxurious retailers along Republic Street. The museum also holds historical significance as it played a crucial role in the defense strategy against Ottoman threats in 1565.
Great museum and place to discover history of Malta. I spent here around 3 hours before it is closed and really want to come back and see some more missed halls. Also there are great views to Sliema and other districts. Definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend 👍🏼

The Museum may not be very large, but it offers a fascinating collection of exhibits. The models and dioramas are especially impressive – detailed and very realistic, they give a good sense of the history being presented. While there aren’t many military vehicles on display, the ones available are quite rare and not something you often see elsewhere. Overall, it’s a compact but very interesting museum that provides a unique perspective on Malta’s wartime history. Definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in history or military heritage.

One of the best museums in Malta. You will want 3 hours here to take in the sites, view points and lean about the history. A good 500 years of history is covered. Air con inside, and most of the museum is indoors. One of the few wheel chair friendly museums in Malta.

Very impressed by this historic monument. A bastion full of history, so beautiful and so wonderfully preserved. The tour is well structured and allows you to see lots of interesting things about such a wide span of history. My favorite part is on the Great Siege. I highly recommend this must-see!

What an excellent place to visit whilst in Valletta for the day! For just €10 you get access to the fort and war museum, plus some picturesque views across the bay. The museum itself was really well done, with a mix of written displays and video exhibits to really bring the stories to life. Each era is split across different buildings, so there is a fair bit of walking involved (including stairs) but it’s well worth it! Easy to spend 1-2 hours here.

Very well laid out, excellent and informative displays. Told the story if this amazing island really well. Original George Cross medal on display. Loved it. Allow min 2 hours. Wonderful views too.

This was a cool experience. Not only was this a fort but they have incorporated a few rooms with memorabilia from different times in Malta's history. Well worth a visit. There is a lot of steps to see everything for those that my struggle with steps. We also got to experience the VR they opened the day we visited (we were told). This is a place where if walls could talk it would amazing to hear. If you want to see everything this can take upto 1.5 to 2 hours easily. Also some great views of the sea and the skyline.

The Grandmaster Palace Courtyard is a central and peaceful area with bench seating and palm trees, making it an ideal spot to relax. The palace itself holds significant historical value, showcasing over five thousand suits of armor and equipment dating back to the 16th century. It also houses the complete set of 18th-century French Gobelins tapestries titled Les Teintures des Indes.
This is well worth a visit! You could easily spend a couple of hours in here. There’s a security checkpoint to go through straight away. And they don’t allow drinks inside but they keep them at the gate for you and give you a ticket to collect on the way out. There is so much history and beauty in here. It was fascinating.

Really impressive collection of armoury from the knights and they were really good at putting up signs so you know exactly what you were looking at. Really richly decorated rooms and lots of interesting history about the Maltese Knights and the wars they were a part of. They also had some old printing machines that was my favourite part!
Helene K — Google review
This is one of those places you should visit. You will learn a lot about Malta’s history. There are so many swords in there. And guns. But mostly swords. There is also a possessed wax figure of a Maltese soldier. Who is obviously holding a sword. The “garden” is not a garden. It’s a yard with one tree and a statue. Well, 2 statues, if you count the security guard. We learned a lot and also bought a thing or two from the souvenir shop at the exit.

Is this the number 1 place to visit when you come to Valletta? Some people say yes and I agree it’s at the top of the list. Some of the palace rooms are so grand you get lost in the amount of artefacts and grandeur of it all. Before you enter you must leave your bag in a locker and take nothing with you but your phone is ok. There are some water fountains along the way for drinking from too.
C C — Google review
Rich historical place with lots of details to study and awe. It is quite big so leave minimum one hour for sightseeing. Good place to educate yourself about begining of Malta. Nice inner garden for relaxing in the shade. Lots of toilets for refreshments. At the end of walktrough there is free electrical water fountain with cool water. In general a must see in Valetta.

Casa Rocca Piccola, a 16th-century palace in Valletta, Malta, is the ancestral home of a noble Maltese family. The mansion boasts over 50 opulent rooms and offers guided tours led by family members. Visitors are treated to an intimate experience as they are welcomed into the home by the Marquis de Piro himself on Friday evenings. Guests can enjoy champagne and local delicacies while exploring this unique traditional Maltese mansion.
Really nice private casa and there was no queue. It's a bit further down the hill than the usual touristy places so we had it almost to ourselves. The guide was brilliant and we could take our time admiring the place. But the most exciting thing about the house was the WWII shelter room under the house! They said that sometimes they were up to 200 people down there which was a lot!
Helene K — Google review
This was a really cool authentic home to see. They have kept and set up the home to how it would have looked like in the past. We were lucky to be one of the few people visiting the time we went as to have basically the whole place to ourselves. The underground shelter was also cool to see. The wealth some family's had from the past was astonishing to see. Worth a visit. They offer guided tours or self tours. Lockers were out of order when we visited. This is also a bed and breakfast as we saw a few people on the lower floors walking in robes, so it shares some spaces with a B&B.
Giovanni S — Google review
Definitely a must see when in Valletta! We went for a guided tour around noon and there were only four people including us. We loved being in small group like that as the guide offered us enough time to also explore on our own and ask as many questions as we wanted. The tour feels like you’re visiting your rich auntie which I find daring. The house is not only a museum, there’s still a lot of life in it. I love visiting houses like that and this is one of the most lively ones I’ve seen thanks to more recent objects on display. A very refreshing experience. The place is still in use after hours by the family and it feels homely and cozy. It’s a bit chaotic and that’s why it feels personal. After the tour we were offered to continue exploring the rooms and the shelter in our own pace so we used the opportunity to spend some more time there.
Yana K — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if you are nosey and like trinkets and portraits. The house is not very big but each room is packed with things. The audio guide is nicely organised and detailed without being too long. There is a cute tiny cafe inside on the terrace. The bomb shelter is also interesting but beware there will be mud and you will get it all over yourself if you are wearing anything long and loose.
Dana O — Google review
Casa Rocca Piccola is one of the most fascinating places to visit in Valletta. This 16th-century noble residence offers a rare opportunity to step into Malta’s aristocratic past. Unlike many other historical sites, Casa Rocca Piccola is still a family home, which makes the experience even more authentic and personal. The guided tours are excellent and very informative, giving visitors a chance to see beautifully decorated rooms, antique furniture, artworks, and family heirlooms that have been preserved for centuries. One of the highlights is the underground wartime shelters, which provide a powerful glimpse into Malta’s role during World War II. The collection of costumes, silverware, and traditional Maltese crafts is also remarkable. What makes Casa Rocca Piccola special is the warm and personal touch of the guides, who share not only history but also stories about the current family who still live there. The courtyard and garden are peaceful spots to relax after the tour. If you are in Valletta, this museum-home is a must-see. It combines history, culture, and charm in a way that truly captures the spirit of Malta. I highly recommend including it in your itinerary.

Lower Barrakka is a serene public park located in eastern Valletta, offering sweeping views of the harbor and sea. Once the private gardens of the Knights of Malta, it now features monuments, sculptures, and beautiful flowers. The park is situated just above St. Christophers Bastion and provides a relaxing atmosphere to watch ships sail from the Harbour while enjoying traditional pastries from nearby vendors. Additionally, visitors can witness the saluting battery still used by the Maltese Armed Forces.
We loved this garden. It has an amazing view of the Grand Harbour, 3 Cities and more. The garden itself is beautiful, well maintained and clean. Lovely monument as the centre piece. Not as busy as the Upper Barrakka gardens and it has a couple of cafes at the entrance. Grab a bench seat (there are many) and enjoy the views away from the bigger crowds. We visited twice whilst in Valletta. On the Sunday morning there was just a few people.

Wandering through its narrow streets feels like stepping back in time. Highlights include the impressive St. John’s Co-Cathedral and the tranquil Upper Barracca Gardens, offering panoramic views of the Grand Harbour. The city is compact and walkable, making it easy to explore on foot.

Our first real ‘wooh’ moment as we walked the city of Valetta was the Lower Barrakka. As you enter the gardens you feel the peacefulness of the area and the tranquil sound of the water fountain is calming. The views looking over the water are stunning and the colour off the buildings from the sun is beautiful.

The Lower Barrakka Gardens in Valletta are a tranquil, smaller counterpart to the Upper Gardens, offering beautiful views of the Grand Harbour. What a wonderful find and what a stunning green oasis on the edge of Valetta! Perfect for a quiet break from the hustle of the old city, with perfectly kept gardens and amazing views across the sea. City Gate in Valletta, Malta is a significant architectural project by Renzo Piano that reorganized the main entrance to the city. It consists of several elements including the City Gate itself, an open-air theater within the ruins of the former Royal Opera House, a new Parliament building, and landscaping of the surrounding area. The design aimed to restore the original strength and depth of the ramparts while opening up views of Republic Street.
This place offers a breathtaking view in the evening, especially just before sunset. The golden light illuminates the surrounding fortifications, creating a magical ambiance. Coupled with the cool evening breeze, it’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Malta’s historic capital.

The Valletta City Gate is the main entrance to Malta’s capital and the perfect starting point for exploring the city. As soon as you pass through, you get a mix of history and modern design, since the gate itself is a contemporary structure by architect Renzo Piano, blending seamlessly with the old fortifications of Valletta. The contrast between the massive stone walls and the sleek, minimalist gate makes it a unique landmark. It’s impressive both during the day and at night when it’s softly lit. Right after entering, you’re greeted by Republic Street, the city’s main road, leading to some of Valletta’s most important sites. The whole area around the gate is lively, with plenty of spots to take great photos. It’s also a great place to just pause and admire the scale of Valletta’s fortifications before heading further into the city. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning, walking through the City Gate always feels like stepping into history. Definitely worth taking a moment to appreciate!

Is-Suq Tal-Belt, also known as Covered Market, is a beautifully renovated 19th-century building in Valletta. Designed by Hector Zimelli and completed in 1861, it now houses a vibrant international food court and grocery market. The three levels offer an array of experiences: the ground floor features a bustling food market with fresh produce, while the first floor hosts restaurants serving global specialties and bars. On the top floor, visitors can unwind in an open space.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I recently visited Is-Suq Tal-Belt in Valletta and absolutely loved the experience! The food market had such a lively atmosphere, with lots of delicious options to choose from. I tried the tacos, which were fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. The fillings were generous, and the guacamole on the side was creamy and refreshing. I also had the spring rolls – they were crispy and served with a sweet chili sauce that was perfect for dipping. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and everything was served quickly. Overall, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in Valletta – it’s a great spot to try a variety of tasty dishes in a vibrant setting!

Easy to miss if you’re not aware what a gem you are passing by, this wine bar has a beautiful selection of wines. The oldest and by far the best wine bar in Malta. We found this place by chance and were welcomed by Andres, we have felt like home since the first time. Since then, we also brought our family here and were welcomed by the owner Chris, who embodies the spirit of this establishment. Do try the chicken pâté! They have done a great job of preserving the underground shelters and decorating them with a variety of period artifacts. The result is that you can get a good sense of how the place looked during the Malta blitz. However, it's well worth timing your visit to take advantage of the guided tour. We had Mike as our guide and his explanation of how the fighter control operated was very clear and comprehensive. There is also a new, very extensive display that covers with Operation Husky, the invasion of Sicily in July 1943 in great detail including from the Italian side and the perspective of the civilians.

Probably one of the best WW2 museums I've ever been to. So much information to take in. Great displays and original rooms still made up with the era specific items. Well worth a visit although was a little pricy at €20 each. Would definitely recommend.

We went on the War HQ Tunnels tour operated by the same company that runs the Lascaris War Rooms. This tour was extremely informative, engaging and took us to areas not accessible via the Lascaris War Rooms museum. This included tunnels constructed by the Knights Hospitaller (Knights of Malta) but also additional and extensive sections constructed during WW2. These areas housed the Combined War Headquarters of the Allies to command their forces and resist the extensive and devastating bombing of the Maltese islands. The tour covers the Fighter Sector Operations Room used during the Battle for Malta 1940-43, along with other operation rooms and facilities. It also shows the facilities and equipment used by NATO up to 1977, during the Cold War. A unique and immersive tour which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone with an interest in the history of Malta or WW2.

This is well worth a visit. It's an interesting tour of the under ground rooms. The guides are well informed and give a good overview of the history of the various rooms.

This was a great museum to visit. It's great they have kept or brought items to make this place look as authentic as it was during WWII. This museum covers 2 floors, both in a rock underground. A lot of information to absorb. Over all worth a visit if you are in Malta and into history and WWII.

It’s an amazing place!!! It deserves more stars than now!!! The food is awesome: we took beef and quail, a bottle of local red wine, and the dessert with pistachio - too good to be truth really!!! Definitely to come back and highly advised!!! Btw, the staff is just adorable 🫶🏻

My partner and me, we were absolutely thrilled! First they gave us a nice table even dough it was all reserved. They gave us some appetizers - grilled bread with fresh paste made of beans, black olives seasoned with garlic and pepper. Delicious! Main course was stunning - rabbit, for my lady, and veal for myself. I highly recommend it! Best regards to our waiter Boki🍻🥃🤙🏻

We arrived to Trabuxu Bistro on a late Wednesday evening, and they gladly accepted our group of seven people. The atmosphere and decoration inside the restaurant was beautiful. The menu was varied, coupled with an extensive wine list. If you love wine, you’ll absolutely love it here. Before the starters came in, we were served some fresh bread with a homemade butter / red pesto which was amazing. I had a bruschetta for starters, hands down the best I’ve ever had. Even simple things can be amazing when done the right way. For the main course, I had the pasta of the day, which was a rabbit ragu, which was good. All in all, the food was great and so was the wine. Our waiter was really fun and helpful. The only negative aspect of our dinner was the waiting time for the main courses, which I also accept considering that we were seven. Come here if you want good food and wine in Valletta!

As a British maltese I can truly say the food is authentic cooked in house amazing fresh pasta ! Fresh pesto and amazing nuts served with the meal. True maltese food!! 10/10

I went to this restaurant twice time to attend to a clients. The interior, food, and service were all really great, and my clients were also very satisfied 😊 Everything here is seasoned just right, especially the rabbit meat that is usually served in red wine stew, but here you can enjoy it in white wine stew, so be sure to order it. Both waiters and waitresses always provided the best service, giving me the time to translate and explain things to my clients. I will definitely visit again, thank you so much 😊

This is considered to be one of the best restaurants in Valletta, although I wouldn’t agree. The food was good but average. We started our meal with the cod fritters as a starter, couldn’t taste the fish. I had the risotto with bone marrow which was a bit bland. My partner had the rigatoni with sausage which was good but again, not amazing. As for the service, we believe that it could have been better, it felt a bit rushed but also forgotten about. As for the atmosphere, it is well decorated but small.

Amazing experience in main street in Valletta. Bhavih was amazing, even recommend nice wine. The seabas were amazing. I chose mussels as a starter and it was good ( mussel's were dry a bit but I still enjoy) but it can be better. Anything else was amazing. Really happy with the whole experience. Thank you very much and see you again.

The food here was fantastic! Lots of options to choose from, the prawn tagliatelle was the best i’ve ever had!!! Very reasonably priced, the service was super fast and our server was lovely! 10/10 would recommend!!

Absolutely amazing experience! The food was outstanding, and the service was just as impressive. I had the beef tagliata cooked rare, and it was prepared to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

Awesome food and 10/10 staff! We accidentally ordered a non-vegetarian dish instead of vegetarian, but the staff were extremely kind — they prepared a new dish for us and didn’t even charge for the first one. The location is also very nice. Highly recommended!

Prices are high for what you get - cold and completely dry burgers. Service was pretty much nonexistent and the server did not try to better the situation when we told him our burger is cold, dry and hard. Overall the worst dinner experience we had in Malta, McDonalds would be a better option.

Stopped here for lunch and a drink. We sat outside and had Greek salad and French fries. Service was friendly and the food was good. I thought it was good value for a very touristy location. Then we got gelato from across the street which was also delicious.

Strait Street, also known as 'the Gut', has a rich history as a former military hangout and red-light district. Once the original home to jazz in Malta, this historic alley is now filled with bars, music clubs, and restaurants. While it no longer serves as a live music hub, venues like StrEat, Tico Tico, and Loop Bar strive to capture the street's former magic with strong jazz vibes.

Beautiful large square in the heart of Valletta. Great gathering spot to meet friends or just enjoy quiet time alone. St. George's Square is the heart of Valletta and is right in the centre of the city, in an area that has been recently pedestrianized. The square is surrounded by numerous buildings, old and modern. On one side of the square is the presidential palace, and on the opposite side of the square are the Main Guard and the Chancellery. We visited the first week of May and had the pleasure of visiting a large garden display filled with beautiful trees, multiple plantings and all colors of the rainbow of petunia.

Teatru Manoel, located in Valletta, is a cultural gem that has been hosting performances since 1732. The theater's baroque architecture and oval-shaped room make it a must-see attraction for visitors to Malta. It offers guided tours and features a museum, café, and restaurant for an immersive experience. The theater presents a diverse repertoire of classical performing arts as well as occasional poetry readings, jazz concerts, and rock music performances.
The Manoel theatre is an outstanding place. The ambience and acoustics are excellent. The wooden features make it one of the oldest theatres in Europe and that is still operating. Most shows are programmed between October and May, with afternoon and evening shows. An informative visit can be booked as well. We have watched stellar productions including musicals, family friendly productions, and drama. Definitely a place to visit.

Fun fact: it is Europe's third-oldest working theatre and the oldest theatre still in operation in the Commonwealth of Nations. Even though it.s small - 623 seats - it is just superb to visit it and to listen to the guide tell its story. Go and visit it, but make sure it is in the morning, when they have a guide.

A tasty lunch option for local Maltese food in Valletta! My husband and I enjoyed a nice lunch outdoors, down a lovely quiet side street. We had the rabbit and local sea bass, both of which were super delicious and very well cooked. Both sauces served with the sea bass were incredible! The fries served with the rabbit seemed like a bit of an odd choice, but they were delicious nonetheless. We would definitely eat here again!

The waiter was very pleasant and nice. The rabbit had stringshoe fries as a side which I didn’t know what those were but they are like little potato sticks, which I think is a wrong choice to serve with this kind of a dish, some roast potato would be a much better option as these were impossible to eat with a fork

Fantastic little find in the heart of Valletta’s old town. Off the main drag and away from the throng of the maddening crowd, but still easily reachable. Amazing vegan food, incredibly nourishing and tasty (we had the Salad Bowl with Falafel and the Burger - both excellent) along with a couple of the smoothies - all tasted superb and were freshly made to order, with love and care. Maybe the food is good, but unfortunately, the kindness and basic courtesy are lacking. I had planned to dine here and tried to use the toilet before being seated. The waiter told me the restroom was for customers only and suggested I try another restaurant — without even asking if I intended to eat there (which I did). Located near the Lower Barrakka Gardens by Fort St Elmo in Valletta, The Malta Experience offers an educational audio-visual show that narrates the captivating 7,000-year history of Malta. The 45-minute presentation covers significant events such as prehistoric times, the arrival of Christianity with the shipwreck of St Paul, the era of the Knights of Malta, and the island's role in World War II.
It's is an incredible experience. If you want to learn deeply about the history of Malta, it's the best place. Definitely, a real historical immersion. After watching the documentary, there's a short walking tour with a guide who explains everything in a clear way. It was an amazing experience.

A very interesting and informative movie about history of Malta. Afterwards we visited the main grand hall which used to be used as hospital. Such an amazing place.
Roobik E — Google review
As the advertising states, this is really a great introduction to Malta and it's rich and very interesting history. The presentation is shown on a big cinema screen with support for all languages via the private headphones that you find in each seat. The video lasts 30+ minutes but the time doesn't drag. We were truly fascinated by the history and everything that helped shape Malta to the Island that we Knie today. The Experience itself is located on the side of the old walled fortress of the capital of Malta - Valetta. You can buy tickets in advance online or from the small tickets booth at the venue itself. The film offers hourly showings all week and you access the cinema and the small shop down some old stairs into the halls cut into the rock below. When you buy the tickets, you can also add the extra "Tour der Sacra Infermeria" for a few Euros. This gives you a very interesting view of the rooms behind and below the Malta Experience and includes a guided Tour with an unbelievable history including the huge Hospital wards operated first by the Knights of St.John and then led the way in patient treatment under Napoleon and then the Britisch until 1920. The "Tour der Sacra Infermeria" is definitely worth the extra expense as it also shows you the new conference rooms and theatre which have played host to many political events on the European and International Stage.

A must for all visitors to the Maltese Islands. Audio visual presentation that depicts the history of Malta from Prehistory to modern times. Gives you an understanding of the maltese people.and what has shaped this small but great nation. the location of the malta experience is best described as STUNNING. The building itself sets the mood for the audio visual. I'll go again when I am in Malta
Pancake P — Google review
Would have given the tour of the Sacra Infermeria, the Knights of Malta's hospital, five stars if it wasn't for the operations a poorly coordinated tour company. Having visited before - around 6 years ago - when I came back to Malta with a family member this year, I had earmarked this as a must see, given the history, significance and sheer spectacle of the building and its interior. We didn't bother with the Malta Experience video part of the tour, as this is only of interest if you have little to no knowledge of the island or its history. Last time I was on this tour, it was engaging and allowed us time within a small group to see the building in great detail and explore a large portion of it. This time around was a quite different experience. We had a tour booked with another agency at 1pm at the War HQ Tunnels (highly recommended, by the way) and was reliably informed at the booking office that the tour of the Sacra Infermeria would be half an hour, so beginning at 11:40am would certainly give us plenty of time to do the tour and make our way over to our next tour at 1pm. We are always careful to plan our itinerary to ensure we can realistically see as much as we can in one day when on holiday. We were asked to be there five minutes before the tour starts, so we arrived promptly at 11:35 and waited until 11:45, when we were ushered up to the internal gate of the Infirmary. There we stood for a further 10 minutes before finally the tour got underway at nearly 12pm. This was partly because the tour group was excessively large - easily numbering 70 to 80 people - and required far too much effort to chaperone by one tour guide alone but also because several people arrived very late. We finally started the tour but was again held up by another group of people that had arrived late - by this point, more than half an hour after the tour was scheduled to start. As far as I'm concerned, if you arrive more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled tour, you should be instructed to join a later party if space permits, not hold up an entire group. The oversized group on the tour meant that it took too long to move the group between stations as people kept wandering off. This left precious little time to cover in any detail some of the key aspects/feature of the building or its illustrious founders, as we waited for everyone to catch up. This also meant that, due to the delays, we had to actually leave the tour before the end in order to make it in time to our next tour - even though we should have had plenty of time to fully cover both. What I was also disappointed with was that, as they were preparing for a conference at the time, (as it is an active conference centre) the main halls in the Infirmary were full of rigging and equipment, which meant it resembled more of a construction site and also meant we couldn't get as much access and freedom of movement as I experienced on my previous tour. The tour guide herself was good but overall - especially if you have a schedule to stick to, which could be completely thrown off - this was a very disorganised tour and left me feeling very disappointed. It just didn't do the building or its history justice. If you have a limited amount of time in Malta, I would give this a miss, as there are other, better coordinated and more engaging museums and tours available.
Ayrshireman — Google review
The Convention centre is very intelligently built in this historic hospital building with one of the biggest halls from this area. Great flair
W B — Google review
There is a very interesting and informative film shown for 45 minutes. You have headsets which allow you to choose between about 20 languages. This is followed by an excellent tour of the hospital building. The lady that gives the tour is fantastic. She is interesting and amusing. It is a fascinating story. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend.
Alan S — Google review
This was a pleasant surprise. The documentary is good and explains the history of Malta in a generic way. What we liked the most was the little tour after it. You're not going to visit an incredible scenery and certainly there are more beautiful buildings in Malta, but the tour guide makes it absolutely worth it. She knows how to tell a story, how to put it in perspective, how to add her own opinion without interfering with facts. We recommend it.

Legligin Restaurant, which translates to "one who drinks a lot," is a delightful restaurant and wine bar in Valletta, Malta. Nestled in the cellar of an original townhouse, the rustic ambiance is accentuated by red shutters, stone walls adorned with wine bottle holes, and an assortment of crockery. The establishment offers Maltese meze paired with a selection of over 30 exceptional wines.
The visit to this restaurant was one of the remarkable experiences! Every menu item I had was very tasty, it is hard to point something out but the tuna is the winner for me. The indoor of is very nice, service was also fine, explaining everything about the food which, as I understand, is rotating and changing frequently. I also have to mention the price - considering this restaurant is mentioned in the Micheline guide, the food is superb and the amount is in total huge, the price is very reasonable for Malta. Can surely recommend.

Quite a nice place with local Maltese cuisine. Just a heads-up — it’s a full tasting menu with five to seven courses, so make sure you arrive really hungry! 😅 I wouldn’t say Maltese cuisine is my personal favourite, but it’s definitely worth trying for the experience — authentic flavours, generous portions, and a cozy local vibe. 🇲🇹🍷
Ira K — Google review
Dinner at Legligin, Valletta – A True Maltese Experience I finally visited Legligin Restaurant in Valletta, and it lived up to everything I’d heard — authentic, intimate, and full of character. The evening started with a warm welcome and a short story about the name Legligin — it comes from the Maltese word for the sound of wine being poured, “glug-glug.” That alone set the tone. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place built around conversation, family, and good wine. I chose the tasting menu, which is the only option here — no à la carte, just trust the kitchen. Every dish felt honest and homemade. The fish soup was light but deeply flavored, full of fresh local fish, carrots, and herbs. You could tell the broth had been simmering slowly for hours. Then came the pasta, perfectly cooked, coated in a creamy tomato-based sauce with herbs and a touch of spice. Simple, comforting, and delicious — the kind of dish that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t need to. The beef stew was my favorite — tender chunks of meat with mushrooms and garlic in a creamy sauce. It reminded me of something you’d get in a home kitchen on a Sunday, rich and soulful. For dessert, a chocolate cake soaked in cream, topped with candied fruit and coconut. Sweet, dense, and satisfying, it felt like a festive Maltese twist on a classic pudding. Everything paired beautifully with a local wine, Marsovin Antonin 2023, smooth and balanced, with a depth that worked perfectly with the food. The space itself feels like a time capsule — old stone walls, soft lighting, and just a few tables. It’s small, personal, and cozy, as if you’re dining in someone’s home. You can feel the family touch: the owner, Chris Mifsud Bonnici, still works closely with his wife and son. That warmth translates into everything — the food, the service, the atmosphere. Legligin isn’t flashy or modern, and that’s exactly why it’s special. It’s a reminder that great dining doesn’t need to be complicated — just real people, real food, and a love for what they do. If you’re in Malta, book ahead. Come hungry. And don’t ask for the menu — just let them cook for you.

Such an memorable experience. It was my last day so there was no better way to end my stay on this beautiful island than in Legligin. Ambiance, pottery, plates, employees everything just was amazing. The food was so fresh and tasty, carefully selected Maltese dishes interwoven with Mediterranean cuisine. And I really like the meaning of word "legligin". Everything was so unique!

Luciano is a laid-back hotel in the heart of Valletta, adjacent to St. Johns Co-Cathedral. The restaurant offers European Mediterranean casual dining with hefty portions and great value for money. It's a perfect choice for budget travelers looking to stay in Valletta, with easy access to the city center and direct buses from St. Julians every 15 minutes.
Great food . I had the rabbit stew with vegetables and it was awesome. My significant other had lasagne and that too was amazing and very filling . I can't see where the bad reviews come from. Great food and thoroughly recommended!

Stopped here for lunch with me Missus. First off sit inside. The outdoor seating is super busy, very touristy, and everyone smokes/vapes. Indoors are more locals and no cigarette smoke. Had a pint of icey cold Cisk, local Maltese Lager. Excellent. We'd been told the Pizza was good and it was. Not expensive, great setting, Great staff, an all rounder.

Small cafe with a great location, but uninspiring food choices and service can be improved. Served alcoholic drink to my pregnant wife (Tequila Sunrise instead of non-alcoholic Sunset), and had doubt about it when reclaiming. Pizza thick, tasteless crust.
Arne H — Google review
We ate at this location on two separate occasions, the first time everything was good but the second was a different story My meal was good but my wife ordered the mussels Normally it is expected that one or two are empty of meat, but by the end of the meal it turned out that five or six were completely empty The manageress came to the table, listened to what the issue was and then asked why we had waited until the meal was finished to raise the issue - as if my wife was lying We explained that we expect a few empty ones but not the amount we had found, and of course we didn't realise until the end We also showed the manageress the mussels that were empty (you can tell because when a mussels has the meat, there is usually some connective tissue left behind but the empty ones did not have this, hence our assertion) The attitude of the manageress was one of the worst I have encountered. She was sarcastic, invited us to have an argument and basically showed she couldn't care less and would not even apologise Eat at this establishment but please make sure you heck your food thoroughly before you eat it, and if anything is not as it should be make sure you raise the issue before you eat anything I should also mention that the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful, just beware of the blonde manageress

We had lunch at this restaurant whilst waiting for our room to be prepared in another hotel. We chose to dine inside with views across the harbour and the opportunity to see the chef work. The ravioli ricotta and spaghetti bolognaise were super tasty and the service was friendly and efficient. A lovely lunch spot ❤️

We stopped here for a pizza — it was quite tasty. Unfortunately, there’s a major downside: you have to cut it yourself with very dull knives. The dough was rather firm, so while cutting, the pizza tended to slide off the plate. The location is interesting — right in the heart of the capital. Surprisingly, cars occasionally drive along what seems to be a busy pedestrian street. We were literally sitting about 20 cm away from passing vehicles, which was quite unusual and a bit uncomfortable. The staff seemed somewhat inexperienced, as if they were just starting out — a bit of confusion and lack of coordination. Overall, despite the pizza being tasty, it’s hard for us to recommend this place.

Hammett's Gastro Bar is a trendy restaurant and bar situated along the Sliema seafront, associated with the renowned Hammetts Macina in Senglea. The establishment has garnered attention for its potential to be listed in the Michelin Guide. It offers a fusion of city life and Asian cuisine, providing a social dining experience that has impressed patrons and critics alike.
My family and I ate here for lunch on our trip to Malta. We ordered the duck, kfc cauliflower, broccoli, and the papaya salad. Everything was so flavorful and was in great portions to share. Rochelle was a kind and attentive waitress! As an Asian person, I could identify the thoughtfulness of the fusion of flavors and the different influences from Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Indian just in the few dishes we ordered. I highly recommend the duck, which had a char siu flavor (super crispy) served in a Korean ssam wrap style. For anyone looking for some comforting, yet high end Asian flavors with a wonderful atmosphere, I highly recommend Hammett’s Gastro Bar!

Sights & Landmarks
Triton Fountain, also known as Il-Funtana tat-Tritoni, is a prominent landmark in Valletta, Malta. Designed by Maltese sculptor Vincent Apap and designer Victor Anastasi, the fountain features three large bronze figures of mythological newts holding a dish from which jets of water flow. Situated near the city gate and bus terminal, it was restored to its former glory in recent years.
The Triton Fountain in Valletta is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and a perfect starting point for exploring Malta’s capital. Located right at the main entrance of Valletta, it creates a grand welcome before stepping into the historic streets. The fountain is striking, with its three bronze tritons holding up the central basin, and it looks especially beautiful when lit up at night. It’s a great spot for photos, as well as a convenient meeting point. From here, you’re just a few steps away from the gardens, the city walls, and the vibrant heart of Valletta.
Jose M — Google review
It was my second time visiting the fountain it’s beautiful and definitely worth stopping by to admire this amazing piece of art. Highly recommend going very, very early to avoid the crowds, take a memorable photo, and enjoy the place more peacefully. the staff supervising the area is ABSURDLY rude. We witnessed them yelling at and insulting tourists. While the job might require a certain level of authority, that doesn’t justify the way they treat visitors. If you work in such a high-stress environment, patience should be part of the job.
Dahiana G — Google review
A stunning monument that really takes you by surprise when you approach it by foot like I did. The craftsmanship of the figures and the surrounds is quality and the water flowing on a very hot day makes you feel cooler somehow. This is a main meeting point for a lot of people as it’s at the entrance to the city and makes great photos.
C C — Google review
Valletta is a city walk that feels like time travel—absolutely worth it. Legend says the Knights once stood their ground here, defending the island against the Ottoman siege. Beneath your feet lie hidden tunnels, only partly unearthed, whispering secrets from centuries past. On rooftops, bull horns hang—a forgotten charm against evil, still watching silently over the streets. Stroll along the city walls and the Mediterranean stretches out before you—vast, blue, eternal. Inside St. John’s Co-Cathedral, gold glimmers in every corner, as if the light itself were centuries old. The Grandmaster’s Palace holds an armory of over 5,000 weapons—silent witnesses to battles long faded. This ancient city blends Renaissance elegance with Baroque grandeur, like a living museum. Every corner holds a tale. Even the air seems laced with the spirit of the Knights.
CHENGYI ( — Google review
Very beautiful monument. Rarely has a fountain fascinated me so much. The positioning and postures of the three statues form a magnificent composition. A beautiful piece to mark the entrance to such a beautiful city.
Jojo S — Google review
The Tritons’ Fountain is a monumental landmark located just outside Valletta's City Gate. Designed by sculptor Vincent Apap and completed in 1959, the fountain features three bronze tritons—sea gods from Greek mythology—balancing a massive basin on their shoulders. This powerful work of art symbolizes Malta's deep connection to the sea and its maritime history. After years of disrepair, the fountain underwent an extensive and meticulous restoration, returning it to its former glory just in time for Valletta’s designation as the European Capital of Culture in 2018. It is now a stunning, iconic meeting point and a perfect photo opportunity for visitors entering the capital.

The yogurt bowl is tasty. The English breakfast is just ok for this price. (I asked them to take away the meat.) The sour bread is a little bit disappointing, but it’s a cute place with a lot of locals hanging out here. Great atmosphere.

Fabulous place. Looks like old timey cafe. Food is amazing. I had widow’s soup (photo attached) which was awesome as was the duck stew (which I failed to picture because I quickly devoured it). Great spot in heart of Valletta old town.

Great little neighbourhood bar, café, resto. Came here for breakfast as near my hotel. Frequented lots by locals coming for coffee and bites. The English Breakfast was good.
Sacha R — Google review
A very beautiful and laid back place to grab some coffee. They have some food options as well. I had the pulled pork sandwich with cheese and it was good especially the toasted bread. For dessert i had the walnut tart that came with some hazelnut ice cream. It was very tasty. The place is very clean and you can tell the interior was designed and made with love. It is also sittuated in the heart of Valletta so if you visit Valletta definitely go here.

The Siege Bell War Memorial is a colonnaded monument that honors the resilience of Malta during World War II. It was built to commemorate the island's valiant defense against over 3,000 bombing raids by Italian and Nazi air forces between 1940 and 1942. Designed by renowned sculptor Michael Sandle, the memorial was erected in 1992 to mark the 50th anniversary of Malta receiving the George Cross for its bravery.
A great memorial to 7000 victims of Malta siege in 1940 - 1942. The bell has 11 tons. It's situated in the vicinity of Lower Barrakka Gardens.
Monika M — Google review
Beautiful panoramic point inside the Valletta di Malta. This bell commemorates all the people who died in an attempt to defend Malta's freedom during World War II. It plays every day at 12, starting in 1992. On one side of the memorial stands out an inscription in Latin: "Obumbrasti super caput meum in die belli" ("You protected me in wartime").

The Siege Bell War Memorial features a recumbent bronze figure opposite Fort Ricasoli at the entrance to Grand Harbour in Valletta, Malta. A plaque here reads: "At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them."
David S — Google review
Wonderful view of the coastline. Not much to do but you get a more close up view of the coastline than viewing from the gardens. It’s also just a short walk from the lower barrakka.
AA — Google review
You can see great views of the Grand Harbor from this point. There will be lots of steep downhill side streets that you’ll need to take if coming from the center of Valletta, but well worth the walk. When you arrive, climb the steps to the top of the memorial and stand south of the bell to see the best views the place has to offer. You’ll also be able to get a good view of outside of the Valletta peninsula as well.

Another Great viewing location War Seige Memorial the history of the place is fantastic great location for walking round, there is a small outdoor cafe. the place is so relaxing its ideal to chill out under the trees enjoying coffee or tea. You can watch pigeons taking bird bath or drop few crumbs watch them snap them up. Good location great views well worth visit.
Tommy B — Google review
It’s well worth climbing the flight of steps to walk round this monument, if only for the views over the harbour. It was very windy during my visit and that’s when you realise how exposed it is but taking in the history is a real treat.
Steve B — Google review
Nice place with a great view to the sea and the area around. A little bit windy but worth visiting because of the great scenery it offers for the visitors. There are good restaurants nearby and a little bit away from the bell monument there is nice garden with a lot of benches for relaxing and enjoying the great view.

The Harbour Club, located in Valletta, is a Michelin-listed restaurant known for its creative and high-quality dishes, extensive wine selection, and excellent service. Situated alongside the charming harbourside, it offers picturesque views of the Grand Harbour. The restaurant's sleek terrace provides an ideal setting to savor French-influenced cuisine with a focus on seafood. The building's history as a warehouse adds to its unique charm, while live jazz music enhances the dining experience.
Do Not Miss a Meal here! We kept our expectations low but were blown away by the outstanding meal each had. The pictures here looked great which helped us decide to choose THC. The staff were outstanding. We asked for David the chef to come say ‚hello‘ and he managed to slip out to let us praise him. Highly recommend THC.

The food is amazing and it tells a story of Valletta. It is flavourful and interesting. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They take pride in the fact that everything is made fresh. At the end of the meal we were given some delicious passion fruit jelly, and when the waiter knew I love it (as I asked if they sell them as well), he brought us another two pieces. Small gestures but very memorable
Nicole X — Google review
What a stunning venue for a meal the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. Firstly I have to admit I was vying for a two course meal but the tuna was for a minimum of two people. I was therefore persuaded to have the tasting menu as that included the tuna (for one). A expresó martini to whet the appetite was splendid.
Gerard D — Google review
Superb food, attentive staff and atmosphere was second to none. We were looking out over the harbour with delightful surroundings. Starters were excellent choice. We had ravioli and the tomatoes. Beef was cooked perfectly. Puddings were just right.

Where am I gonna start is the question. What is there not to like with Ambience when having the grand harbour as your background. The food, is a feast of flavours and culture with the food cards matched to popular Malta streets and landmarks. The service is nothing less than exceptional. Very attentive and professional staff. My gf and I had one of the best experiences ever. Ps - do not leave without trying the dessert. You'll thank me later
Donald M — Google review
I dined alone, on a solo holiday, at this lovely little place. They set me up at the window with a view, as requested, because it was too windy outside. It was one of the best dining experiences I have had. I was there for 2.5 hours, having the 7 course tasting menu, paied with wines for each course. Stellar! Each course came with a little description card as they were named after a street in Valletta. The card gave a little history of the street the food was named after. I was so excited for the risotto, I forgot to take a picture! Maria snuck my camera into the kitchen and took a picture of one the chef was preparing! Sorry Chef, for invading your creative space! I highly recommend this restaurant. It has a great atmosphere, great food and very friendly and helpful staff. Bravo Harbour Club! And thank you.
Connie “ — Google review
The experience was very fun! It is not only about eating but also experiencing different flavours, they give you some free entries. The dessert was wonderful. The only thing, I expected more history in between the dishes, as it was mentioned each one represented a part of history of Malta. But I would come back again.

It is part of the esteemed Grain restaurant trio under the AX Hotels brand, led by Executive Chef Victor Borg. The restaurant offers an al fresco dining experience and has earned a coveted Bib Gourmand for its inventive Mediterranean-inspired cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients.
Creative Chefs, knowledgeable staff and first class friendly service in downtown Valletta, We couldn't have asked for more from Grain Street. Not to forget the stylish show windows and restaurant decor that just blew me away. Thank you Katho for your very helpful recommendations of the wines we had, we are still talking about the taste!

Amazing breakfast venue with even more amazing staff. With a fantastic view down to the sea, thus is a great venue. The set breakfasts were just beyond compare and the staff so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back! Special call out to the team lead Katho for whom nothing was too much trouble.
Loraine M — Google review
Tucked away on a quiet side street for pedestrians near the Rosselli Hotel, Grain street sits adjacent to its sister restaurant with a Michelin star called Under Grain and they share the same kitchen. The two spacious outdoor dining areas — perfect for warm days with chilled background music. The terrace is stylish and inviting, setting a refined yet relaxed tone. Inside, there’s a small bar and a couple of tables near the entrance, giving an intimate first impression. The meal started well with excellent bread, tuna tapenade, good-quality olive oil, and marinated olives. The starter of pig’s ears — thinly sliced, lightly battered, and slightly sweet with a touch of sauce — was an interesting and well-executed dish, great for sharing. For mains, I tried the local fresh fish (sea bass) with Bronte pistachio, pink grapefruit, and basil. The flavours were pleasant, and the nut crust added nice texture, but the portion was disappointingly small and felt poor value for money. The Lasagne ‘Nera’ — a seafood lasagna made with squid ink, calamari, and a hint of nduja — was very good, rich in flavour and beautifully balanced (€19/€22). I also sampled the local Hauteville Cabernet–Shiraz blend. It was fine, but again, the pour was on the small side for the price. Service, while polite, was glacially slow — a true example of the “slow food” experience, though perhaps unintentionally
Travelling D — Google review
It was the best food experience during our 6 nights staying in Malta. The food was delicious, especially local tomato salad with burratina and passion fruit tart, service on the highest level, atmosphere- chic and elegant. Worth to recommend and come back!

A huge thank you goes to the breakfast manager Katho, who, together with her wonderful team, turned every morning into an experience with great oversight and professionalism. Each morning was a wonderful start to a new vacation day. Warm greetings from Germany.
Thomas — Google review
The food is good but not amazing and, surprisingly, the service and atmosphere was a little disappointing. Firstly, and most importantly perhaps, I enjoyed most of the food. All courses bar the main course were enjoyable. The main course of chateaubriand was not cooked to my liking and the chewy nature of the meat spoilt my enjoyment (I don't know whether it was cooked correctly as we were not asked nor told how it would be done). I was disheartened to see the chef lean on gold and silver-leaf for some dishes as it adds absolutely nothing. The food should speak for itself. The main issue with Under Grain was unfortunately with the style of service. It was all too stuffy and rigid. My previous visits to Michelin starred establishments have always been improved by the exemplary yet relaxed service. The whole staff seemed slightly on edge as our fellow diners appeared to include 'influencers' and a reviewer of some description. Maybe because of this the focus was elsewhere, but there must've been an issue with our main course as we waited basically an hour between starter and main course. This is far too long to wait, yet it was not mentioned at all by the staff. After this, the evening soured and later courses were not enjoyed as much as a result. We declined the cheese course option as it was now getting late. The waiter seemed offended by this and the staff barely spoke to us after that. I was also disappointed by the wine flight. I know enough about wine to hold my own, yet I was recited a bland script about each wine that added nothing to my knowledge. The miniscule pourings meant I didn't get to enjoy the wine with the food as I had either finished my wine during the wait between courses, or, on rare occasions the food came out quickly, only had two small sips to pair with the food. Overall, the whole evening goes on too long. Most reviews said the evening lasts around three hours. We were there for four hours and skipped the cheese course. This over-long service was needless and reduced the enjoyment rather than enhanced. We sat at 1900 and the main course was served at 2200. Lastly, I have never been welcomed back from the toilets in my life, yet that seems to be a policy here. Very odd, very uncomfortable. Discretion would be the better customer service option in this instance.

Bażilika Santwarju tal-Madonna tal-Karmnu, also known as the Basilica of Lady of Mount Carmel, is a significant religious site in Valletta. This Roman Catholic church boasts a prominent dome and marble floors, with a striking neo-gothic design that overlooks the Sliema waterfront. It's part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing Valletta.
A nice and clean place. Quite peaceful, with plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops. It’s very safe, without undocumented individuals posing as doctors or engineers like in Western Europe.

From the outside it's dome looks incredibly majestic, however on the inside it's not that impressive, there are more beautiful churches in the area. Good thing the entrance is free.

Beautiful bazilika which is exactly as it should be - beautiful, peaceful and modest, not full of wealth which should be used for good causes. Opens only after 5pm (service time). So when you visit you see also how is service done in Malta. Was shocked to find out that the church cupola is actually oval, not round as it appears from outside.
Jana S — Google review
This is a beautiful place, down a Valletta side street. It is free to enter and is very peaceful inside and much quieter than the Cathedral. It has an amazing domed ceiling, beautiful architecture, and wonderful marble floors. Please visit here.

An impressive basilica crowned with a massive oval dome, visible from as far as Mdina and unmistakable from the ferry between Sliema and Valletta. This beautifully spacious Roman Catholic church features richly colored marble floors and walls. One of Malta’s significant modern churches, it was built between 1958 and 1981. Its dome, alongside the tower of St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, stands as one of the most iconic landmarks in Valletta’s skyline.

One of the more underrated churches in Valetta. It is lesser known than the other ones but still a sight to behold. The clear white dome is a huge contrast to the fresco ceiling of other churches nearby. I was able to catch part of a mass service here on a weekend and there was a choir. The acoustics in this place are quite good for the size of the structure. Overall worth it to at least take a peak inside or sit for an entire Sunday mass, if that's your thing. Good historical landmark!

Italian restaurant
San Paolo Naufrago is a charming pizzeria and wine bar located in the heart of Valletta, Malta. Since 1938, this family-run establishment has been serving up fresh parma pizzas, charcuterie platters, and an extensive selection of local and foreign wines. The cozy wine bar offers a warm and relaxed atmosphere where diners can enjoy live music while savoring their meals.
We decided to try the lasagna, which was recommended on the menu – and we were not disappointed. The dish was excellent, generously topped with cheese and served piping hot. Since all tables for the evening had already been reserved more than a week in advance, we went to the restaurant without a reservation around 4 p.m. After a short wait, we were able to get a table without any problems. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but absolutely reasonable given the quality, location, and ambience. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit – highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful place for dinner. The seats are distributed above the stairs, romantic fairy lights give the place a magical glow. You should have a table reservation or wait until a table is assigned. The waiting time is rewarded with an excellent meal. The pizza was outstanding, the lasagna highly recommended. We'd love to come back!

We had a lovely experience at San Paolo Naufrago in Valletta. The service was superb – friendly, attentive, and efficient – and the atmosphere was wonderful, with charming surroundings that make it a perfect spot to soak up the city’s vibe. It’s definitely worth booking in advance though; the queues were very long for walk-ins and quite a number of people were turned away , and we could see why! The only downside for us was the limited menu during our visit – pizza and lasagna were the only main courses available – but both were delicious and freshly made. A great place for a relaxed meal in the heart of Valletta. There is a minimum spend of €25 per person, which wasn’t an issue for us because we had starters, desserts and drinks as well. However, if you’re on a budget, you need to be aware of this.
Georgina T — Google review
Really good food. Uncomplicated, pizza was not my personal favorite, but the pasta was amazing. Fresh ingredients, nice crew, fully feel always recognized and comfortable. Atmosphere in the small street with music really a spot to visit. Thanks for the hospitality!
Arthur K — Google review
Great atmosphere, beautiful place, good food. Delicious bruschetta, good lasagna, but for my taste, it could be a bit more intense and spicy. The pizza with burrata, mortadella, and pistachios was fantastic. A storm broke out during our meal, so the staff quickly gathered our belongings and moved us to the free balcony upstairs. Highly recommended. A mandatory 25€ per person minimum spend
Weronika S — Google review
One of the nicest, of the Italian street restaurants in Valletta. It's set at the top of the street running down to the waterfront in Valletta and actually is on both sides of the street. Small tables are arranged down the street's steps. It's a little precarious sitting on the metal seats on the narrow steps, but that's all part of the experience. They do have inside tables, but on a nice day, sitting outside is the place to be. Service is quick, friendly and professional. The wine list is excellent as are the beers and cocktails available. All of which is reasonably priced. Our pizzas were delicious. Great toppings and cooked to perfection. Homemade deserts looked fantastic, but we were too full to contemplate one! We went at lunchtime and we're lucky enough to get a table - you can guarantee they will be busy. If your in Valletta do try this lovely place. You won't be disappointed.

We visited San Paolo Naufrago for the first time and absolutely loved it! This charming little restaurant is located on the famous St. Lucia Street, a narrow alley full of flowers and little lights that create a truly magical atmosphere. The pizza tasted just like in Italy, you can really tell the ingredients are fresh and high quality. The service was quick, and the staff were very kind and friendly..one of the waiters even spoke a few words in Polish, which was such a nice surprise! Definitely a place worth visiting again! 🇮🇹✨🍕🌸

The Queen Victoria City Pub, located on South Street, is a must-visit spot in Valletta. It offers a wide selection of craft beers, spirits, and single malt whiskey along with a pub menu featuring traditional British dishes like Yorkshire pudding, roast beef with gravy, fish and chips, and pies. The pub's Victorian-style decor with authentic oak furnishings creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy happy hour specials on Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm.
Great selection of beer and menu. Had the fish and chips, just like back at home in England. Old pub with loads of feeling and history all throughout. Can sit inside or outside, will definitely be back in the future.
Mark R — Google review
Really disappointing on every level unfortunately. Lackluster and not an authentic British experience. The chips are skinny cheap fries. Not chips. No decent beers on tap. Would have been nice to have a darker beer available on tap. Cisk and Carlsberg only. Heavy battered fish so I asked for light batter and got the saddest old fish that ever swam in a fish farm.
Mark B — Google review
We had the fish and chips and Beef pie.I got 2 pieces of fish due to the portions being so small I am guessing, now to the actual dish itself...... there was more batter on each portion of the fish so hardly any fish! Very disappointing! The Pie was not any better with a serious lack of meat.( my partner told me) I made the waiter aware of this upon paying and he told me he would let the kitchen know, to be honest you guys need to do better in an area where there is so much choice.

Really nice pub in Valleta. It is roomy and well presented, spacious & well maintained. It's the kind of place you can just sit back & relax in and while away a few hours drinking Stella & putting the world to rights. Staff were very friendly but not pushy. They brought out some French bread with pesata & butter beans garnished with some rocket free of charge. We didn't eat here so it wouldn't be fair to comment. Same with the atmosphere, we were there around 3pm on a weekday so it was quiet. It's in a great location & I imagine that it's heaving in the evening.

It looks very impresive but the staff is trying to be as unwelcoming as they can. We sat at a terrace and the young waitres came to our table, didn't say a word, no hello, no welcome, just placed the menus at the table and left. I felt transperent, sorry I spent a single Euro there.

Located in the historic Strait Street of Valletta, Alchemy Cocktail Bar offers a unique mixology experience that stands out in Malta. The bar boasts an exclusive and cozy ambiance designed by an award-winning international designer. It prides itself on offering patrons a less typical cocktail selection, featuring innovative concoctions like the Innocence with fresh apple juice, walnut syrup, rose water and sencha, or the Eternity with gin, coconut ice, cloves infused sake and bergamot.
It's not just a normal cocktail bar, if you go there it's an experience. The experience was wonderful from start to finish, the signature cocktails are a must if you go there. I wish we had more time there as we went for 2 drinks before a dinner. Also, I have to give praise to the staff serving us as he was super informative, explaining to us the taste notes and the story behind each cocktails (It's a pity I don't have this name). 10/10

SunShine S — Google review
I actually quite liked the cocktails we were served here, but the overall experience isn't quite as polished as a bar of this calibre should be. First of all, their offering isn't clear - let me outline it for you. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays they offer a classic cocktail menu. On Thursdays to Sundays they offer signature cocktails. The reason is because their signature drinks take 24-48 hours to prepare, so they serve a simplified menu on Tuesday and Wednesday, focusing on prepping for the rest of the week. If that had been clear upfront, I would've probably liked this place more. Instead, we walked in and were told that they only serve classic cocktails. When we returned two nights later, a different bartender explained the situation. I thought the cocktails were decent but they are very expensive. €12 for a classic cocktail - I saw the bartender use a bottle mixer for my Paloma is definitely on the high side for Malta. And then there's the signature cocktails for €18 - good, but not outstanding; I've had better for the price. I liked the little touches though - dehydrated fruit and charred leaf garnishes.
Tash S — Google review
Busy little cocktail bar serving creative house cocktails, plus the classics. My cocktail was bit more miss than hit, but the negroni everyone else ordered was excellent. Prices are EUR 14 - 18, so at the slightly more expensive end.

Irish pub
Bar
The Long Hall Pub is a popular Irish pub in Paceville that features live sports, a great atmosphere and wide variety of pub grub and drinks. Despite current street conditions, it is always a good idea to stop by for a few pints. The pub has extensive beer selection with relatively loud music. Sport fans will be happy to know coverage of all major events is available here. The staff are friendly and address any concerns you may have.
great bartenders, especially Miki! he made great Aperol and he's welcoming. the vibe is very Irish, with crowds, the music, the football match. everything is right.
Alex S — Google review
The atmosphere was pretty relaxed on a workday evening. The staff was work focused. The food was pretty good, burger could have been better, cheesy garlic bread was amazing, and the Cesar's salad would have been better with a little bit less dressing.
Anita T — Google review
Great pub but there was a young barman with a terrible attitude who ruined the experience. 3 separate friends mentioned how rude he was. 1. Trying to charge for drinks already paid for. 2. Serving other people who had just arrived even though you’d been waiting much longer. 3. Taking orders from other people whilst serving you. 4. Completely ignoring feedback. 5. Sarcastic and poor attitude. The worst barman I’ve ever known. He was fairly young but we decided not to go back to the pub because he was so bad.

My friend and I had a short holiday in Malta and we went to this pub every night (Thursday to Saturday) and every night was a different fun! A perfect place to dance without being in those cringe clubs. A fun atmosphere and also suitable for those who just want to sit down and have a drink. Service was usually ok, there was just one guy that was very impatient and rude for no reason. Good memories here🫶

Big sign "Happy Hour on spirits " ... we ordered 2 Jameson Whiskey... after 20 minutes we got the answer "not passable for Jameson only for Jim Beam". Our suggestion: Simplex remove the sign! Handdryer didn't work and no paper to dry the hands, no toilett paper....
Dirk K — Google review
I was sitting inside with my boyfriend. Each of us drank one beer, so we wanted another. The waitress came and we asked for some onion rings and wedges to go with our second round of beer. The waitress said the kitchen is not working because the place is too full. We were surprised by the answer but accepted it and ordered beer only. As we were sitting other tables with guests that arrived after us were served food. I noticed this and called the waitress to address my observation. The waitress was not polite. She said she doesn't know and she is going to check if the kitchen is working. She came back 1 min later to tell me, yes, kitchen is working. She did not apologise. She did not say sorry. It was clear to me that she lied to my face the first time. I told her this is bad service. She only said Yes, this is bad service and continued to watch me in the eye. I addressed my complaint to the manager. He only said sorry.

This Irish pub looks really nice. The drink an food choices are good. The food we had was okay. But not great, We didn’t like the cocktails at all. And they’re not included in happy hour. Mojitos for example didn’t have sugar at the bottom. The staff just gave us the bill unasked and couldn’t split in. The toilet door is broken.
Laura — Google review
Had an amazing time at this Irish pub! The place was buzzing with great energy, fun crowd, top hits, and an absolutely fantastic DJ. Even though it was packed on a Saturday night, the vibe was incredible and we had a blast. My girlfriends and I loved every moment. Highly recommend, and I’d go back in a heartbeat!

The best cocktail bar in Malta! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff are incredibly friendly. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, enjoy top-notch cocktails, and have a great time. Highly recommend!

I love this bar. It's my favourite in Valletta to be honest. Always has been. Lots of fun nights 💖 Good lookin bartenders 🫠 And believe me they will serve you properly because they have the required experience in the hospitality business. Definitely worth to check. 🥂
Erina P — Google review
I went to this bar tonight to have a drink. A girl told me I could choose a song just by asking the bartender. So I politely went to him and asked if, after the song currently playing, he could play one I had in mind. His answer was simply: “No.” When I asked “Why?”, he replied in a really unpleasant way: “Because you only bought one drink. I only play songs for people who spend a lot of money.” Such a bad attitude. This kind of behavior only drives customers away. I doubt his manager would be happy to hear that kind of arrogant and selective treatment. It’s a shame — the place has potential, but it’s ruined by staff like that.

Good spot for a drink in Valetta. Decent prices with indoor and outdoor area. Friendly stuff.

Carmen Bar, located on Straight Street in the ancient city of Valletta, is a charming and lively spot for enjoying drinks. Despite being one of the smaller bars in the area, its proximity to Old Theater Street has historically drawn a steady stream of patrons. The recent renovation by new owners aimed to preserve the bar's period charm. Open from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 6 pm, Carmen Bar offers a vibrant atmosphere with high-energy music and a bustling outdoor scene due to favorable weather.
Hey people, search for this place whenever you looking for something special or not ;), It’s 24/7 right in downtown of Valletta, in between the narrow streets. Wonderful atmosphere, Price for Gin/tonic for example = just a 4€, an it’s good testy drink, not a ice with tonic;), And moreover, you may get acquainted with interesting and beautiful “chickas”, they’re all open to talk and party, and if you’re right person, you may leave not alone ;). Fun, party, and pleasant place. !!!! Recommend 100%, and you’ll get all you need;).

The staff at the store were so kind and sensible. Above all, I liked the song selection and I was grateful to be able to drink at a reasonable price in a quiet atmosphere. Please look for it everyone

We chose this bar because we liked the music playlist and the vibe. We waited for a long time for someone to come and take our order but in the end we went straight to the bar and ordered. We ordered two different cocktails from the menu but we ended up with two glasses of Rumi cola (That's what I believe,we didn't order this). The quality of the liquor wasn't good either.
Λαμπρινή Κ — Google review
I had an absolute blast with my girls partying here! The owner was super nice, all the staff were very friendly, the drinks were cheap, the bar was cute, the atmosphere was fun and it was the best night we had in Malta! ✨
Helena A — Google review
We ordered Mojitos and there was no Mojitos. We ordered as suggested by waiter tequila sunrise which had absolutely no tequila. We had to insist to get tequila inside. 8 euros for a drink that tasted like Orange Juice. The price list was not displayed. Drinks were served in plastic cups.
Axel L — Google review
A very nice place, with cozy and friendly vibes and good music. Nice cocktails, but with not so much alcohol in them. Also, they don’t give you a menu to see the prices of the products.
Zetaa — Google review
We order bottle of wine with name the waiter bring the bottle open before i see what he open and then when we told him that it’s wrong bottle he told us we didn’t have but we have and he could give us. First drinks he didn’t say nothing After we order second round and while we’re sitting he asked us to pay our bill. Rude. Expensive. Not recommended at all! (Worst teqiula sunrise ever) we couldn’t even drink.

If you're in Malta and want an EPIC night out, this rooftop is the place to be! Crazy views, killer music and a killer atmosphere! The cocktails are the bomb and the staff super helpful. Recommended

It was amazing, but the staff man... so mean with me, they thread me like really bad. I was having a good time in a COSTUME PARTY with my costume and after 3 hours a bald bodyguard started to harass me and told me that he wanted to get me out of the club because of my mask... i spoke with the supervisor and just an akward moment... dont spend your money in this type of clubs. Music was good but this is just unfair for me.

cocktail bar which doesn’t work well as a club. 2 toilets only, very long wait for the drinks, smoking area separated. these things are annoying if you’re there the whole night, and you wait just for a drink 15 mins… if you want some clubbing, partying, this is not the place. but for a cocktail, and capture the beautiful view is worth to visit definitely.
Kristina — Google review
Very few drinks available and quiet on a Saturday night. Entrance fee is €15.
Robin H — Google review
A extra star just because the view, otherwise it would be a terrible place. The music, the staff.. Everything was really really bad. The place was almost empty during the summer at midnight (All the others nightclubs were full). So just take a picture and run. Do not spend money on overpriced and low-quality drinks (I mean, very low for a ~15€ coctail).

The bar features beautiful murals and offers stunning views of the open ocean from its front terrace, where guests can relax in hammocks. Fantastic place and unique service. Finally someone has a desent beer.

Owner was very nice. Overlooks the sea and all you have to do is sit down, have your drink, and enjoy the view!
Sarah T — Google review
I walked a long way in 30°C to get here only to find it closed. Please add opening times to the google maps page. It's at the scruffy end of the bay, next to a kind of shanty town, and locals have little lock-ups or even kitchens carved out of the rock where some of them set up tables (BBQ are offically banned).
Chris H — Google review
Great location and wonderful, friendly owner :] we came here after long walk over the seashore and bottle of wine by the sea made our evening really perfect. We hope to visit again.
Anna S — Google review
It doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't. Slightly scruffy but a great view at sunset. The locals have barbecues on the (rocky) beach and sometimes at the bar itself. It's all very Bahamian and friendly. The trick to getting to it is to go down to the bottom of Old Bakery Street then turn left towards way looks like a building site. There, you'll find a short tunnel under the main road which brings you out on the correct level at the beach. This tunnel isn't shown on Google maps.
Nick H — Google review
Hidden place at the shore of Valletta. You will feel like in the middle of the ocean, or in a deserted island. Beers, wines in good prices.
Tsiolis N — Google review
Simone, the owner, is amazing! She gives a great ambience and atmosphere. One of the best alternative spots in malta. Watch out for their special events :)
Edward D — Google review
Rude unreasonable owners. Imagine not being allowed to drink water, during summer after having a theatre workshop prior to the event. The owner got pissed off as it seems she was having a very bad day or week. Even when I asked for an ash tray she told me 'as long as you get it back' insinuating that I would steal it for myself. If people were to buy mixers from another bar I would understand although over a bottle of water filled up from your home... I think the owner overreacted. Go post this edited review on Facebook now... Go ahead and reveal my identity again and breach GDPR like you've done with others. Republic St, also known as Triq ir-Repubblika, is a bustling pedestrian route in Valletta, Malta. It's lined with a mix of shops, restaurants, and museums that offer visitors an old-world experience. The street is a shopper's paradise with high-end designer stores and leading high street brands. Additionally, two shopping centers - the Savoy Shopping Arcade and the Embassy Shopping Complex & Cinema - provide a wide variety of goods under one roof.
A street full of amazing shops-stuffs-restaurants-cafes-gelateria, for a first time tourist as me. As you walk through the Republic Street, struck by the creative elevated old architectures especially how they highlight paint of colours, stunned and attractive to the eyes! Visit Valetta by daylight and nighttime to appreciate a lot better the city. They showcase wonderful colours in the night.
