The restaurant's space is very pleasant, and a key reason we chose to eat there was to try the rabbit. Unfortunately, it was not available during our evening visit, so we ordered something else. We were so determined to try the rabbit that we returned the next day, and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed everything we ate. Of the two desserts we tried, the traditional Maltese sinizza and the bread pudding, we liked the former much more. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely, so it is definitely worth a visit.

I really enjoyed the place—no outdoor tables, but very authentic indoors. The staff were very polite and friendly. The fish soup was relatively standard, perhaps a bit too heavy on the rice, carrots, and potatoes, and not enough fish but it had a very pleasant taste. The rabbit stew was good, with many different pieces of meat, a side of potatoes, and grilled vegetables. Prices are fair, and overall it was a positive experience.

Amazingly generous serving sizes, friendly service, and live music. The pork knuckle and snails (very sweet) were both enough to share between 2-3 people. The rabbit ravioli was super dense/rich, and we found the pasta wrapper very thick and doughy. Would recommend booking well in advance by email, as there are liens at night, and they don’t seem to answer the phone.

Amazing local experience! Portions are really big! We had grilled aubergine for starter, octopus and traditional rabbit. Everything was very very delicious!! Better to make a reservation before coming.

I have only great things to say about this restaurant. The food was exquisite and Ripjan was such an amazing waiter. He was so attentive and considerate. We hadn’t booked a table and he still found such a good spot inside. Thank you for the quality food and service!!!

Great experience trying some local Maltese foods. The service was good and helped point out popular and local dishes to try. The portions were good and the food was very tasty. However as it got later the service did seem to suffer with servers visiting us very infrequently after we had finished our meals. This could be due to it getting bushier. Also as it got busier the restaurant was noisy/echoy and it was hard to hear each other at the table.

Saw advertisment in Airline magazine so we went there for our first night in Valletta. We went there a bit late. They close at 22.30 but we arrive almost 21.00 . Still able to get table. So many food choices so we ordered too much! Lasagna were excellent. Braised horse meat were really good. Pork Belly also really nice. Dessert - sinizza were really yummy too.

Quite a nice place with local Maltese cuisine. Just a heads-up — it’s a full tasting menu with five to seven courses, so make sure you arrive really hungry! 😅 I wouldn’t say Maltese cuisine is my personal favourite, but it’s definitely worth trying for the experience — authentic flavours, generous portions, and a cozy local vibe. 🇲🇹🍷

Dinner at Legligin, Valletta – A True Maltese Experience I finally visited Legligin Restaurant in Valletta, and it lived up to everything I’d heard — authentic, intimate, and full of character. The evening started with a warm welcome and a short story about the name Legligin — it comes from the Maltese word for the sound of wine being poured, “glug-glug.” That alone set the tone. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place built around conversation, family, and good wine. I chose the tasting menu, which is the only option here — no à la carte, just trust the kitchen. Every dish felt honest and homemade. The fish soup was light but deeply flavored, full of fresh local fish, carrots, and herbs. You could tell the broth had been simmering slowly for hours. Then came the pasta, perfectly cooked, coated in a creamy tomato-based sauce with herbs and a touch of spice. Simple, comforting, and delicious — the kind of dish that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t need to. The beef stew was my favorite — tender chunks of meat with mushrooms and garlic in a creamy sauce. It reminded me of something you’d get in a home kitchen on a Sunday, rich and soulful. For dessert, a chocolate cake soaked in cream, topped with candied fruit and coconut. Sweet, dense, and satisfying, it felt like a festive Maltese twist on a classic pudding. Everything paired beautifully with a local wine, Marsovin Antonin 2023, smooth and balanced, with a depth that worked perfectly with the food. The space itself feels like a time capsule — old stone walls, soft lighting, and just a few tables. It’s small, personal, and cozy, as if you’re dining in someone’s home. You can feel the family touch: the owner, Chris Mifsud Bonnici, still works closely with his wife and son. That warmth translates into everything — the food, the service, the atmosphere. Legligin isn’t flashy or modern, and that’s exactly why it’s special. It’s a reminder that great dining doesn’t need to be complicated — just real people, real food, and a love for what they do. If you’re in Malta, book ahead. Come hungry. And don’t ask for the menu — just let them cook for you.

What an arrival! Here we had our first gastro experience in Malta. It is a perfect place if you want to get an insight of the maltese cousine. For dinner they serve 7 different dishes, presenting the various spices of the local food. We loved all of them, definitely a worth to try restaurant! Also I recommend to get some nice wine of Malta beside the dishes. :)

Fell in love with this place from the moment we entered. Greeted like old friends, warm but professional. Amazing atmosphere low level music sets the mood while not being to loud. The food took us on a journey of taste like no other, if your in Malta and don’t visit this place can you actually say you’ve been to Malta 😁

Absolutely incredible surprise Maltese tasting menu, I tried so many new cuisines and thought the price was great value for what we got. I had to roll my partner back to the hotel he was so full! Service was excellent and I also have coeliac disease which they catered for very well, so extra points for that. A must visit if you're staying in Valletta!

We had our very first meal in Malta here after a long flight, and it turned out to be an absolute steal. Our waiter was a lovely, sweet lady who made us feel right at home. We ordered a chicken salad, an octopus salad, chicken pasta, along with plenty of drinks and some ice cream to finish. Every portion was generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality was excellent. The atmosphere felt almost majestic, making the whole experience even better. We really enjoyed this place, would definitely recommend it, and will most likely return ourselves!

Wanted to have drink and small snack. End up order happy hour drink and octopus salad. It's bigger salad than I expected! Yummy and spicy one. It's nice place at the square to sit and look people moving around. Attentive staffs. Inside restaurant is beautiful place, nice decorations.

We went to this café to stay and rest while taking an ice cream The place is very fancy, beautiful, it looks like a dream for sure. Service is too pushy, too fast, we just wanted to see the menu we didnt really know all they could offer. They asked us 3 times what we wanted in 5 minutes. I felt pressure Coffee and hot chocolate were amazing, both with pistachios. But ice cream was the opposite, i couldn’t finish it because of the taste, too bad !

We loved this place. Great coffee! The food we ate at the restaurant was fantastic. So we’re the almond tartlets I bought to bring home. I can’t wait to visit again on my next trip to Valletta.

A historic café dating back to 1837 — full of charm and local character. The pastries are excellent and definitely worth trying, though the ice cream was a bit too sweet for my taste. Still, a lovely spot to enjoy a coffee and dessert in the heart of Valletta!

The restaurant is really beautiful. However service is really bad. The lady at the reception was very dismissive when I asked her about gluten-free options. I had to take medicine before my meal and asked for a glass of water. I waited more than 10 minutes. Thedrcor is amazing and good presentation

Lovely little restaurant with spirit in heart of Valeta. Amazing experience; tried tasting menu with wine pairing. Recommend as you'll try many typical dishes, well done prepared and delicious. Staff very friendly and attentive. Pasta dishes delicious, the fish as well, rabbit was also the same level. It's expensive but if you want to treat yourself, good choice.

What an amazing place, a great way to end our day in Valetta. Tucked away on the corner of a street just off the main thoroughfare of Republic St, you go down into the restaurant and almost back in time, a very nostalgic, quaint, intimate setting. We booked and good thing too with only 5 tables. But the food was incredible, service excellent and a truly great experience. The Octopus starter was exceptionally good.

We had a wonderful welcome in this beautiful restaurant. We opted for the land and sea tasting menus, with 1 paired wine for the land. The wine was delicious. The food was nice and the outstanding dish was the root vegetable lasagne. We felt several courses were very under seasoned, and the seabass course lacked any flavour. That said, we enjoyed the evening, and Femi the waiter was excellent. The food and wine were very reasonably priced.

We had a fantastic experience at Guze. The manager was friendly and helpful and explained each of the dishes and best wines to pair with them. The amuse bouche was a cauliflower soup, local bread and a tomato pesto, incredible! The black pig and the octopus starter were exquisite in display and taste and the main courses of veal and and the local fish, just perfect. The atmosphere atmosphere was lovely, tucked away in one of Valletta’s charming old buildings. Couldn’t recommend it more highly, worth going out of your way to dine here! Thank you!

Stunningly good in every respect! This was our second visit a year after the first having remembered the warm welcome and good food in this wonderful place. We tried the tasting menu, 5 courses with wines and were just blown away. All helped by a great host, amazing food, and the tiny entrance which makes you feel like you're entering another world (well it did me at 6'4"). We'll be back again.

My favourite meal when in Valletta! I had the rabbit stew, to try the local cuisine, and I was very happy with my choice! The dish itself could have been hotter, but the spices you could taste was excellent! Delicious dessert too! Overall, definitely come here to try Maltese dishes. It has a very French feel, but is a lovely place. No outdoor seating though!

Fantastic food and great service! We had the Mediterranean chicken pasta, the rabbit with potatoes, and finished with the date pastry and ice cream – everything was absolutely delicious. The service was spot on, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend!

The yogurt bowl is tasty. The English breakfast is just ok for this price. (I asked them to take away the meat.) The sour bread is a little bit disappointing, but it’s a cute place with a lot of locals hanging out here. Great atmosphere.

I’ll start with the service, really nice waiter, really attentive and very welcoming. The mediterranean chicken pasta was amazing, one of the best pasta’s in my life, also served with parmesan and inside the sauce there are sun seeds, very tasty!!! My boyfriend ordered some meat pasta, also delicious. I recommend this place!!

We were really pleased with the food. We ordered from both the Asian and Italian menus and everything was delicious. The variety of dishes was excellent.

Love it here for snacks and a food shop for self catering! We got a delicious pizza from one outlet (ricotta, spinach, honey and walnuts) and timpana from another stall. Both delicious and washed down with a couple of pints of ice cold Cisk! 🤩

Toilets are top floor top right and you need to purchase food to get the code for the loo door,, which is guarded by the Knights of Delhi.. You can't just pop in here for a pee folks. We didn't we actually went for the food.... So many top choices in lovely air con environment. Will get very busy but is a great place for all around the world foods.. Top little venue.

The food market has a lot of different restaurants with a variety of cuisines to offer, and we opted for the Konak kebab place. It was something worth trying for the flavor and the price. The lamb meat they offer tasted amazing.

It's quaint (if unassuming) from the outside, but folks, my God, that Carbonara...! You need to add truffle slices to it (it's not frowned upon, it's actually encouraged) for it to really pop. The lasagne (our other dish) was almost as good, with a very distinct tomato flavour. The true award must go to the Tiramisu (with pistachio) though - it's not just great, it is insane (almost unbelievably so)...! I will return to Malta to experience this again. Listen, ChatGPT will give you recommendations aplenty in Valletta, but we just happened upon this place and decided to give it a go. It's right up there with Italian greats!

If you love pasta and tiramisu like we do then this is the place for you. The food was so good we went back a second time and found that the first visit wasn't a one off - we had the exact same order and if anything it was slightly better second time (I got a bit more crumbled Italian sausage in my Luisa pasta). If we could go tonight for dinner we would. The staff were efficient and helpful and also very personable despite being rushed off their feet continuously both nights we were there. For 2 people we have a pasta dish, tiramisu (there is a traditional and a pistachio option - both are off the charts fantastic) and glass of wine each, and shared a salad, and it came to 70 euros. One of the best meals I have ever had.

Incredible food and great service. Started with the parmigiana and the grilled cheese with pears. Amazing authentic flavours cooked to perfection. Followed with the Carbonara and Rigatoni, Carbonara was definitely as advertised as the best in Malta, the Rigatoni was slightly under seasoned for my own taste but this is purely personal preference and in no way a reflection of the incredibly talented kitchen team. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Malta to visit this must-see gem of a place!!!

This was our favourite stop on our three-week honeymoon. The staff was incredibly friendly, with several of them coming out to chat with us, ask about our trip, and make us feel so welcome. I had the gnocchi, and it was truly one of the best I’ve ever had. My husband ordered the fettuccine all’uovo Alfredo and has been trying to recreate it at home ever since, but nothing comes close. We also tried the arancini, which was so amazing we had to order another one. The tiramisu was out of this world. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and fairly priced. We have nothing but amazing things to say about this restaurant. If you're in Malta, make sure to stop here. You will not be disappointed.

This place definitely lives up to the hype! We really enjoyed our pasta (I got the lasagna and my partner got the caccio e Pepe) and the portions were very generous. I also had the panna cotta for dessert which was alright (maybe go for the tiramisu instead).

We were recommended to try this place and had high hopes with all the glowing reviews. However we found the food mediocre. The cheese and pear starter didn’t have much flavour. The pasta came out lukewarm and underwhelming in flavour. They were clearly very busy which made the service very chaotic. I could see plates of food waiting inside to be delivered to the tables which explains the cold food. We didn’t bother with dessert as no one came to serve us so we walked inside to get the bill and pay. Maybe they had a bad day or maybe we expected better but we won’t be going back to try it again!

If you want to try the best carbonara of this island, you need to go to Zero Sei. It was one of the best dishes that I ate in Malta during my trip to the old continent. The staff is really good and there are a lot of options on the menu, but I couldn't resist the carbonara. And it was worth it.

Favourite meal of recent holiday to Valletta. Many great looking Maltese or Italian dishes with local twist. Very good value even when we picked the expensive prawn for one of our mains. Attentive service and really enjoyable atmosphere. The veal milanese was exceptional.

This former pastry shop has gained a reputation as a high end restaurant over the last 20-30 years and due to its central location in Valletta it is difficult to expect a table without booking ahead, which our party thankfully did. All diners are given the manager’s briefing on the contents of the day’s menu, so one is well informed on what’s available on the off. My steamed octopus was on the chewy side but very tasty, and while the fried rabbit was excellent. The attention we received from the manager was first class and we ate and drank till late, finishing off with a Gozitan carob liquor offered on the house. Pricing is not cheap, but the service levels and food quality can explain this.

5/5 highly recommend, and would comeback again. Chalkboard menu of excellent local Maltese special (get the rabbit you won’t regret it!) - which means it changes based on available fresh ingredients, or fresh catch. White table cloth but it’s not snobby, in fact it’s super chill. We came at lunch time, only imagine dinner is even a chic, easy vibe. Kevin - will lead you the right way. Suffice to say the service here is 10/10 front and back of the house is a well oiled machine. Do try the Maltese wine with your meal. Pls book ahead of time because they are fairly popular especially with the dinner crowd.

The food was sublime, cooked to perfection and packed with flavour. It was nice that there were a few vegetarian options which weren’t afterthoughts which is appreciated. Unfortunately it took many attempts to pay and leave and while we were waiting at the front desk trying to pay the manager ignored us and dealt with a customer who walked in the door. The other waitstaff were great! I did squash a cockroach at the dining table which put a damper on the atmosphere.

Friday dinner at Rubino in Valletta and it didn’t disappoint. We started with the mushrooms — simple and tasty. OX tongue and the rabbit stew were the main course. Both were tender, rich, and full of flavor. Cozy spot with friendly service. Worth a visit if you want to try well-made local Maltese dishes.

Such a lovely atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff. I wish I had asked our server’s name as he was so helpful and kind. He recommended a lovely Maltese wine and made sure that I could find something to eat on the menu. My boyfriend really wanted to try this restaurant and I wasn’t sure what vegan options they’d have but the chef came out and personally explained what he could do for me. The dish was absolutely delicious. Would recommend.

A long established local restaurant with Sicilian founder. Good honest local food and flavours. Plenty of Maltese and international wine to choose from. Vegetarian starters but the main course essentially fish and meat; the vegetarian risotto could have been a main course. The restaurant is small intimate with years of heritage and local history oozing. The food was delicious. The service, was succinct and functional. The people who served us are best described as rough diamonds.

We had a great evening at AKI, amazing Sushi, great desserts and wonderful atmosphere! We booked a table a few months out, having read reviews and having seen on a TV program. We weren’t disappointed, we have Sushi 3 different types including Harumaki of Salmon, Flamed Wagyu Roll & Carb Fotumaki Roll. All were excellent with our favourite being the Harumaki of Salmon. We also had a dessert each with Genmai Cha Creme Brulee fro my wife and Japanese Chocolate Forest Floor for myself. The whole experience was amazing, and a very reasonably priced at under 90€ for 2 persons including wine, Saki & water. We would definitely recommend, and will return plus we will probably try the new AKI London when we are next in London!

I had an amazing experience at Aki on 09/05/2025! We had to push back our reservation time many times due to our transportation not knowing where the restraunt was located in Valletta but the booking personnel was very understanding and kind. We were greeted by a lovely woman at the entrance who showed us to our seats. They had a beautiful bar and dining area, which provided a wonderful ambience. Although the dining area was dark, it provided an fantastic vibe that was Instagram worthy! The restraunt and food on a whole show cased a Japanese inspired fine dining experience. Once seated we were then served by a fabulous waiter/host called Asanka. He was very professional, funny and kind. He was also very patient with us when he explained and described the different food and drinks on the menu. I dined with my sister and a friend and we can all agree that Asanka made our experience at Aki a night to remember! The food was out of this world and the drinks were divine. Unfortunately, I dont remember the names of dishes we ate (photos below). But, if I ever return to Malta and dine at Aki again, I hope Asanka will be there to provide another 10/10 experience.

We were really looking forward to dining at Aki, but unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to expectations. Ambience: The setting felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant — loud music, dim lighting, and an atmosphere that made conversation almost impossible. We could barely hear each other to order, let alone enjoy a relaxed meal. The first table offered was uncomfortably close to a wall; we asked to move, and later noticed several other couples declined that same spot as well. Drinks: • Sushi Cocktail – Visually interesting but only average in taste. The garnish of seaweed dots looked artistic but didn’t add much flavor. The creamy top was too thick, and the liquid base too thin and bland, making the overall balance off. Starters: • Bluefin Tuna Tartare (€14.90) – Nicely presented with kimchi pearls and nori wafers, but the flavors didn’t quite come together as the lea shoots overpowered the taste of the tuna which was unfortunate! Pleasant but forgettable. • Sakura Blossom Noboshi Prawn Tempura (€11.90) – Beautifully plated and vibrant red prawns with daikon and ginger oroshi. The prawns were large and well-cooked, but the dish was more “good” than “great.” Sushi: • Volcano Sushi (€13.90) – The prawn tempura filling was tasty, but the presentation was odd. The rolls were cut and stacked sideways with sauce drizzled over, which caused some pieces to stick together. Again, decent but not remarkable. • Flamed Wagyu (€14.90) – Disappointing. The wagyu flavor was barely noticeable, and the dish lacked the richness we expected from the description. Main: • Prawn Gohan (€15.50) – The highlight of the meal. The rice was flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the prawns were juicy and well-cooked. Service: Service was polite but inconsistent — staff were friendly when available, but it was sometimes difficult to get their attention. Overall: While a few dishes showed promise, the overpowering music and nightclub-style atmosphere made it a poor choice for anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxed dinner and conversation. Aki might work as a trendy spot for drinks or a quick bite, but it’s not ideal for a comfortable dining experience.

Everything was perfect! Very nice indian waitress, fast service, delicious food, good selection of japaneese fusion! The one thing that could improve the experience for us was to reduce the music 2-3 notches.

It was a delight. Chefs take pride in what they serve, waiters attention is excellent, the overall vibe is great. Rishabh was great, I really appreciated his mannerism. As we had ordered the tasting menu we had a lot of dishes, each distinct, with unique flavours, and just quality ingredients. He never rushed us, on the contrary, he asked if he should wait a bit for the next dish, which we really did. He understands his customers. Definitely recommend Aki! And try their wild cocktails too!

My expectations were probably too high 😊 For starters, I tried bao buns, they were excellent.👏👏 The next dish was rice vegetable, nothing special, at times I found the dish very dry. I refused the rice with wagyu, because the pieces of meat, not all of them, were tough, I doubt it was wagyu meat.😢 Maki nigiri, tuna excellent,😍 rice excellent,😍 salmon not the right temperature. In order to give a true rating, I would have to try something else from their menu. 😊

Food: some are a hit, some are a miss. Here are some recommendations from what Ive had: tuna tartare, tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, foie gras sashimi, creme brulee. These were OK, but nothing more: wagyu sashimi, oysters, rock shrimp tempura. The big miss: chicken tacos. How disappointing! So extremely bland! Overall food rating: 7/10. Some things were nice, some were OK, some were bad. At an upscale Michelin recommended restaurant there should not be anything on the menu that is less than good! Especially for the prices of some of the dishes. Service: Our waiter was very kind, refilled our glasses without being prompted, generally a smiley dude. After asking how the food was and telling him that the taco was very disappointing, he offered us a free creme brulee on the house. He singlehandedly made our dining experience so much better! Shout out to Amara. However, not all positives in the "service" section. Service was generally a bit slow, but to be expected with a full house. Overall service rating: 9/10. Amara is a cool guy who just wants to help where he can. It is not his fault some of the food was mediocre. Atmosphere: considering the style and vibe of this restaurant (which is very nice), I would say this is an upscale dining place where you expect to see people in nothing less than a nice shirt - so why does it feel like a club? Music is blasting, having to shout at the table to hear each other. The tables are very close together to fit more guests, so neighbouring conversations can be heard, which contributes to the need for shouting across the table so your dining partner will hear you. Atmosphere overall rating: 5/10. Looks like a nice restaurant, but it is way too crowded and the DJ blasting club music is just unnecessary and offputting. Overall restaurant rating: I would love to give this place 4/5 as I tried so hard to love it, but too many items on the menu that I have tried are just not "amazing". And for these prices, it SHOULD be amazing. The service, especially our waiter Amara was the highlight of the night. I feel very harsh giving it 3/5, but there are many things that could be improved on. See below. How to improve: - chefs, please taste your food. If it is less than "good", do not serve it. - turn down the music! Maybe play some softer songs that actually fit the style and vibe of the place. - get rid of some tables to create space. Less tables = more exclusivity, more control over the food being served, as there will be less load in the kitchen, therefore more happy customers. You are a michelin guide recommended restaurant, so act like it.

I’m a craft beer guy and my wife is a cider connoisseur, so when we find a place that hit both area’s it paints a picture and a great time. Every staff member were very attentive and knowledgeable about the craft beer and ciders. Good seating with AC inside and they have an option of beers to go. If you’re in Malta 🇲🇹 go and have a great time like I did!

Very nice atmosphere and a very large offer of craft beers! However, we were a little forgotten after we got seated and wanted to order, but that was solely because the staff had so many other tables to attend! As soon as we got to order the service was amazing! If you are not in the mood for a beer, the drinks and cocktail are also very thought through and well presented!

An excellent lunch and looked after by lovely friendly and attentive staff. 11 beers on tap and excellent range and choice of drinks. Food was delicious and good choices.

Great place! Just some meters from the main touristic routes, you’ll find great local craft-beers and great, very polite and helpfull staff. I recommend the cheese and ham plates!

Tucked away on a quiet corner of Old Bakery Street, 67 Kapitali is the kind of place you discover once and then keep coming back to. It’s not just a bar—it’s a cozy little sanctuary for anyone who appreciates local craft beer, thoughtfully prepared platters, and a chilled, welcoming vibe. Watch out for the staircase to the loos tho, definitely done sober !!

Brilliant place for a vegan ftira in Malta. This wee sandwich shop in the heart of Valetta offers made to order sandwiches and you can choose your ingredients from the large selection of vegetables and sauces that are vegan friendly. I think we had kunserva (traditional Maltese tomato sauce/spread) with rocket, aubergine & sun dried tomatoes and my partner avocado and mushroom. Both on traditional ftira bread. Very generous portion and nice to try traditional dishes from Malta but veganised.

Had a long exhausting day of sight seeing and was craving for something light and refreshing for lunch. Stumbled upon this cute little sandwich shop by chance and decided to give it a try with not much expectations and it surprisingly turned out to be one of the most delicious focaccia sandwich I’ve ever had. The bread was warm still, soft and crispy and the ingredients were fresh. Simple yet such a delight. Gets better with each bite. Genuinely could tell that the sandwiches were made with lots of love 🥪💞 A “culinary serendipity”!! 🌟 Please do yourself a favour and come try out one of their sandwiches if you’re nearby and tell them I said hi if you can 💃🏻

I visited The Submarine for lunch. It is located in the center, the people running the restaurant are very friendly & nice. There is an elaborate menu from which we can pick & choose whatever we want in the sandwich. It is helpful for vegetarians and vegans. The sandwich tasted amazing & it is pretty cheap! Highly recommended for everyone. I had selected Baguette with hot sauce, potatoes, onions & avocados.

Possibly the best sandwich i have ever had and not just in Malta. Super fresh ingredients and so tasty. Lovely service and always busy. For a little space it knows how to pack out and make good tasty food!

These are the best sandwiches you will ever eat!! The traditional Maltese bread (Ftira) is the perfect size and texture, the choices for toppings are unbelievable, and Simone’s customer service is outstanding. We went four times during our stay (including one to takeaway to the airport), and each time, Simone’s sandwiches delivered on flavour, freshness and price point (approx 5 euro per sandwich). Each sandwich is made with love and care. The toppings are evenly disturbed within the sandwich, ensuring each bite is as pleasant as the last. This is hands down the best meal we ate in Malta. There is also great seating available in the shade outside, and Simone will deliver your sandwiches and ice cold Kinnie with a smile.

Amazing place with delicious freshly made sandwiches. I ordered vegetarian maltese and the cheese was wonderful. The service was very helpful and friendly, helped a lot with choosing the perfect option. You can choose from different types or make your own sandwich. The bread was fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We waited only a few minutes for our order and paid 8€ for one sandwich. Highly reccomend!

Without doubt, the best sandwich my wife and I ever had. The woman working behind the counter is awesome, no frills, all warmth and jokes. Make your own, over 300,000 (yes) combinations. Food was amazing - the tuna tartar was WOW! Highly recommend to visit for the tasting menu. Service could not keep up with the food - had to pour the wine by myself and order second bottle. Overall - very good! Will come back.

Tucked just around the corner from the Grand Master’s Palace, One80 offers a modern, minimalist setting with a touch of warmth. The space is tastefully designed, featuring wood panelling, white floors, banquet-style seating on one side in rich teal tones, and a collection of well-spaced tables on the other. Drinks: The Mezcal Negroni was but unremarkable, while the One80 Spritz—essentially a Campari soda—was refreshing but lacked depth. Starters: The Devilled Eggs with smoked eel, salmon roe, and furikake were beautifully presented, though the portion was small and the delicate eel flavour was lost beneath the garnish. The Crispy Braised Ox Tongue came shaped like a croquette, topped with teriyaki and neri goma sauces. The meat was tender, and the sauces added a satisfying umami richness—one of the better dishes of the evening. The mains: The Fish of the Day Saltimbocca—served with fregola, ras el hanout, and baby carrots—was unfortunately a disappointment. The Parma ham had been cooked to a leathery texture, and the fish itself was overdone and dry, reminiscent of an overbaked in-flight meal. In contrast, the Quail Wellington was excellent: two pieces filled with spinach and foie gras stuffing, complemented by leek, mustard, and a smooth sweet potato purée. Perfectly cooked, well-balanced, and full of flavour—it stood out as the highlight of the meal. Service: Service felt perfunctory. The menu was dropped off with little engagement, and staff didn’t check in once mains were served. Feedback could only be shared at the end, when the disappointing fish dish was removed from the bill—a gesture rightly made. However, the atmosphere was somewhat marred by visible disagreements among the staff near the service area. Overall: A beautifully designed restaurant with some standout dishes—particularly the Quail Wellington—but inconsistencies in cooking and service prevent One80 from reaching its full potential.

We absolutely loved our meal at One80. The service is top notch too - our server Janko was incredibly friendly and attentive. He gave us the best recommendations. Highlights - the seafood pasta, the lamb, the rib eye. For dessert we shared the ice cream with almond brittle - divine!

What a fabulous discovery. The tasting menu was hit after hit - though desert could have had a big of fruit/something cold (maybe that’s just preference?!). Staff were lovely and the environment is relaxed, welcoming, and upscale without being pretentious.

We visited for the plant-based menu and all I can say is WOW! The food was absolutely delicious. The best we've had on the island by far. I really recommend the mushroom dumplings and local carrot dish. The prices were very fair for the quality of food that you are served. We were served by Maricel and the service was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for a delicious meal.

A laid back but quality bistro with beautiful and very tasty food. Portion size is good and many varied with a few little tweaks on classic combinations. Service was laid back and not at all intrusive.

Absolutely no complaints about the food! The flavours were fantastic and the presentation was gorgeous. Unfortunately, once we’d finished our main courses we felt somewhat forgotten about and weren’t offered dessert or further drinks. We waited 30 minutes before asking for the bill and leaving which was disappointing.

Amazing breakfast venue with even more amazing staff. With a fantastic view down to the sea, thus is a great venue. The set breakfasts were just beyond compare and the staff so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back! Special call out to the team lead Katho for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Tucked away on a quiet side street for pedestrians near the Rosselli Hotel, Grain street sits adjacent to its sister restaurant with a Michelin star called Under Grain and they share the same kitchen. The two spacious outdoor dining areas — perfect for warm days with chilled background music. The terrace is stylish and inviting, setting a refined yet relaxed tone. Inside, there’s a small bar and a couple of tables near the entrance, giving an intimate first impression. The meal started well with excellent bread, tuna tapenade, good-quality olive oil, and marinated olives. The starter of pig’s ears — thinly sliced, lightly battered, and slightly sweet with a touch of sauce — was an interesting and well-executed dish, great for sharing. For mains, I tried the local fresh fish (sea bass) with Bronte pistachio, pink grapefruit, and basil. The flavours were pleasant, and the nut crust added nice texture, but the portion was disappointingly small and felt poor value for money. The Lasagne ‘Nera’ — a seafood lasagna made with squid ink, calamari, and a hint of nduja — was very good, rich in flavour and beautifully balanced (€19/€22). I also sampled the local Hauteville Cabernet–Shiraz blend. It was fine, but again, the pour was on the small side for the price. Service, while polite, was glacially slow — a true example of the “slow food” experience, though perhaps unintentionally

One of the best restaurants we’ve been to. We had the tasting menu, and everything served was exceptionally amazing! The risotto and the nero di sepia lasagna are beautiful. The desserts were mouthwateringly good..definetly helped to end the night on a sweet note. The only complain i have is that the portions were a bit small for the price of the tasting menu. Other than that, I cannot flaw the food, the service or the atmosphere. Would 100% recommend and revisit

We spent almost two weeks at Hotel St. John and had the pleasure of enjoying the breakfast. Every day was a delight. A heartfelt thank you for the excellent service and outstanding care. We enjoyed a flawless meal at Grain Street our first night in Valletta. We had drinks, appetizers, main courses, and desserts - all were exceptionally delicious. I had the grilled rib-eye and the flavor of the sauce was so tasty but didn’t take away from the flavor of the steak - yum. The complimentary bread, olives, and spread were a nice bonus (best bread we tried in Malta). The service was friendly and gave great suggestions. My wife enjoyed a pasta dish. The rice ice cream tasted heavenly, as did the passion fruit tart. We highly recommend this place and plan to return any time we visit Malta in the future.

The place is well located, very close to the entrance to Valletta, ideal for a coffee, a refreshing drink for this summer. The menu is also very gourmet and delicious. I had breakfast there and my experience was great. I recommend the place 10/10. The staff is very professional and always available if you need anything for the table.

Tribe Malta had delicious food, I tried the chicken schnitzel which was just the right amount of portions. The service was friendly and the food came fast. I was early to dinner so later in the evening it may be busier. Downsides, I didn’t like all the mirrors which made you feel like you were in a fishbowl and the water glasses need to be bigger! Otherwise, I recommend and would definitely eat there again.

Lovely place to have a breakfast, brunch or even dinner. The place's decoration ir really unique in Valletta, staff are friendly, patient and available. The place fits for vegetetians and vegans, eventhough the choices are not various. Prices are correct and meets the plates quality and quantity, count around 15/20€ a meal. Waiting time were pretty fast, but I might suggest to reserve in your experiencing the place during season, as it was already crowded out season. I defenetly recommend

After searching for the best brunch on TikTok, this place totally lived up to the recommendation. We were looking for an Instagrammable spot with great food in the heart of Valletta – and that’s exactly what we found. They make their own sourdough bread, which is amazing. I had the Sweet Soul Sister with salmon and avocado, and my friend had the Toast Malone. We finished off with the Dubai pancakes – absolutely delicious! The staff was super friendly, the food was fantastic, and the place is just too cute. Thank you – highly recommended!

got sat down very quickly by a nice server, we ordered and got our food in under 15-20 mins. there is more bugs than people here, and it’s so irritating, but they can’t help that. Food was underwhelming, we ordered the baobuns and fries, all fries in malta are undercooked it’s an island wide problem. The baobuns tasted of just meh, far too much ginger and sweet chilli, the chicken was a little pink in the middle - will update if i blow up the bathroom tomorrow. All in all, as with the rest of the maltese restaurants just absolute mid.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the degustation menu which had a very fair price. I had the feeling the chef didn't reach his full potential yet and a few dishes could have some small changes or additions to reach a complete culinair orgasme. This restaurant is one of the few places around offering local dishes, so it was a real shame that one of their main specialties was sold out for the night. The rest of the food was good — nothing particularly impressive, but definitely tasty and enjoyable. The staff were attentive and polite, which made the experience smoother and pleasant. However, the terrace lacks a sense of privacy. Since many people pass by, it doesn’t feel as relaxed or intimate as it could be. Overall, a decent spot with tasty food and good service, but it could really shine if they ensured their signature local dishes were always available and improved the terrace experience.

A very popular place and it is clear why! The food tasted delicious and homemade, so this would be the perfect spot to try out authentic Maltese food. The service was however quite slow and a bit messy, we were always approached by someone new and sometimes it took quite a while to be noticed when you needed help. It's recommended to reserve a table but outside seems best, inside got pretty loud.

This is one of the few good Maltese restaurants here in Sliema. The service is very good and fast. I enjoyed how attentive they were. You get a tasty appetizer with bread. The food is fine. I had the octopus as a starter and it was delicious! The pasta with rabbit was fine but nothing out of this world. The taste of the rabbit is not that present. So arriving here with high expectatives I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t as mind blowing as I expected. Would give it a second chance though!

Was told we had to come here for Maltese food. Silema is very congested. We had the brajoli, the rabbit spaghetti and the Maltese salad. The brajoli is braised brisket, stuffed with mincemeat. Very good flavor! The spaghetti was bland and not very good. The salad was probably the best part of the meal. If you are staying in Silema, stop on by, but don’t make a special trip for the food.

This was recommended to us by the receptionist at our hotel and it didn’t disappoint. We turned up at the restaurant with no reservation but were given a table straight away. Once we’d ordered they brought out bread and crackers with some Bigilla as a dip. The bread was still warm and the Bigilla really garlicky and tasty. With a bit of research we’d learnt that portions in Maltese restaurants are generous so we just ordered mains. We both ordered the rabbit as this was our first meal in Malta and we wanted to try the national dish. It was a very generous, hearty dish full of flavour and the slow cooking meant the meat was tender and fell off the bone. Although we’d got a table straight away, the restaurant was busy and you could see the staff was doing its best to keep up. That said, they all remained friendly throughout.

Apparently this is the only authentic Maltese restaurant in Sliema. The snails lacked a bit of taste, the steak were the worst cut and full of tendons and hard to eat. If you seat outside the noise of tge street will ve very loud.

The first meal in Malta. we had a really long day that we couldn’t wait for this meal. 2 of us ordered 3 main courses. The taste is ok. But octopus stew is not as chewy as I expected. Quite different from what I tried in Spain. I am not sure is this the maltese taste? And we sit outdoor which is a bit noisy cause it close to the street.

A bit of a hidden spot, but definitely worth visiting to try their different pizzas. The atmosphere is very cozy and perfect for sharing a nice time with friends. The staff is wonderful (we were served by a Chilean girl who made the experience even better — super kind and attentive to our table). The pizzas were delicious and generously sized, with very fresh ingredients and a thin, crispy crust. One of the best options for pizza in Malta — highly recommended!

Hidden behind a green door and go a bit underground (in Malta you are never sure). We only tried their 4 cheese pizza and it tastes ok, not so impressive. They speak perfect english and have very friendly service. The place is also very cozy and well decorated.

We got here just before the peak hours on a Sunday and everything was fantastic. my friends and I had a good time. they are serving wines and coffee too. the food was great and will definitely come back to try the others from the menu.

Sotto Pinsa Romana Valletta is a great spot for pizza and beer. Tried the pecorino with honey and walnuts and Diavola pizza- solid picks. Service was friendly, pizza was tasty, and I’d come back.

Dani & Giacomo were really helpful and the sweetest guys ready to serve and help us with our choices. Pizzas were amazing and tasteful. Also don’t forget to try their classic tiramisu as well as the pistachio one!

Absolutley great gluten free Pinsa made by Paolo!!! (Pinsaolo :-D ) We really enjoyed it!! All waitresses and waiters were really nice and attentive! Not cheap - for gluten free it's 5€ extra per Pinsa, but it's written on the menu, so we knew it before and the restaurant is located near de center of Valetta, so there's nothing to cry about it! ;-)

Seafront spot with a lively vibe and great views—perfect for a relaxed meal by the water. The fish was the highlight: fresh, nicely cooked, and simply seasoned. Prices, though, are on the higher side for what you get. Sides were uneven: potatoes came overly salty, and the salad didn’t feel especially fresh. Service was brisk but a bit scattered—the staff seemed to be constantly rushing, which kept things moving but didn’t leave much room for warmth. Dessert options are limited, so don’t come with a sweet tooth. Bottom line: come for the seaside atmosphere and a well-cooked fish dish, but temper expectations on sides, sweets, and value. Conveniently located right in St. Julian’s along the water.

We enjoyed a lovingly prepared tasting set menu here on the first day of our holiday. We wanted to eat authentic Maltese cuisine, and that's exactly what Gululu serves. We went for the tasting menu (attached), which at €32.50 per person, is incredible value for money. Unlike the tasting menus one is accustomed to in other European countries, where the portion sizes tend to be tiny; the portions are very generous. So much so, that we needed to take a break between the primi and secondi courses. So goon an empty stomach if you go for this menu. The food was excellent and fresh. The service and drinks recommation was very attentive. A great introduction to Maltese charm and excellence. Fabulous waterside Spinola Bay seating.

The restaurant itself looks nice, and I want to highlight that the older gentleman who welcomed us was genuinely friendly and warm. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t match other staff kindness, and that’s the reason for my 1-star review. When we sat down, I was still taking a quick look at the menu. I mentioned “rabbit” because I wanted the pasta with rabbit, but before I could even finish my sentence, the waiter completed it for me. I naïvely assumed he was “reading my mind” and referring to the pasta dish. Instead, what arrived at the table was only a plate of rabbit meat — something I hadn’t noticed on the menu and wasn’t what I intended to order. Once I realised the miscommunication, I politely asked for the pasta I actually wanted. The portion of meat was too big for me to finish, and since it wasn’t what I meant to order anyway, it felt reasonable to request the correction. However, the waiter’s attitude was unnecessarily unpleasant when he mentioned “well then, the pasta will take a long time”. His tone carried irritation and irony, as if I was being an inconvenience, even though this was clearly just a misunderstanding. A similar attitude came from another staff member when we asked to move tables. The kind older man said it was fine and that they would set it up for us, so we helped by moving our wine glasses. The lady then sharply told us, “you have to have it out,” in a tone that felt rude and uncalled for. I don’t know if the staff were simply tired or stressed, but their attitude completely ruined what could have been a nice evening. My friend’s dish also wasn’t good, but for me the main issue wasn’t the food — it was the disrespectful and unwelcoming later service. Good customer service is essential, especially in a traditional place with such a lovely concept and atmosphere. Sadly, that was exactly what was missing during our visit, and that’s why I’m leaving this review.

We took the typical Maltese degustation menu, we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is very kind. Maybe it was better to have a bigger table when 4 people books.

We would like to eat teaditional Malta food. The place was clean, but we got table just inside because the terrace was full. The soup and the foods were tasty and delicious. Tables are small for four people. Prices (in my opinoin) are high, serving and everybody was nice.

Had a cous cous type dip and Maltese sausage for starters and rabbit for my main. All dishes were awesome and the service was great.

Had the best experience here on a trip to Valletta. The staff were so welcoming & super helpful when deciding what to eat. They brought out the fresh fish to show us what we would be eating which was a nice touch! The restaurant itself is beautiful & full of character. The food was incredible & very reasonably priced! The seafood platter (one of the specials on offer) was the highlight for me, everything was full of flavour & cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area!

The service in Palazzo Preca deserves 6 stars. I was well looked after and advised about portion size etc. I loved the wild mushroom soup. The seafood risotto was salty and when I was asked whether it was ok, gave an honest comment. Straight away the dish was whisked off and replaced later with something less salty. The lemon meringue tart was lovely.

This was truly one of the best experiences we’ve had. The staff were outstanding—special thanks to Orhan for his exceptional service. The food quality is first-class: fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. Their daily fresh seafood is a must-have on the table. It was also a thoughtful gesture to bring us their special olive oil, which made the experience even more memorable.

Cannot fault this place. The food, wine, cocktails, service and atmosphere were great. Would highly recommend. The rabbit livers in sherry, mushrooms on brioche, seafood pasta dish and the seafood plate were all amazing.

Truly amazing - we cant wait to come again. The service was great, everyone was very attentive. The seafood in particular was delicious. We could pick and choose freely what we wanted, and the staff would recommend nice ways to cook it.

Pizzas were great, I would say even excellent (Margherita and Diavola). House wine was good as well. Free WiFi provided, service is prompt. Portions aren't large thus expect that one pizza is suitable for one person. The annoying thing is that the waiter is asking to choose tips percentage (5-25%) on the terminal upon payment by card. I'm always leaving a tip in the restaurants with a good service and tasty food, but the forced demand for the tip always ends with minus one star. This is why my rating is only four instead of five stars.

Everything was fantastic. The staff was all lovely. And the food! The pinse crust is my favorite and the topping combinations were perfect. I tried the Sotto. Highly recommended! My friend had the Parmigiana. It was just as good. I couldn’t not mention the pecorino melted and topped with honey and pistachios. The sangria was also the best we had in Malta. I’ll be craving a return to Sotto until my next visit to Malta.

Only 30 seats but if you’re privileged to find one you will get the most amazing pizza in Malta. Fresh ingredients and very friendly staff! If we had more time we would come back!

We found Casa Sotto as the chance to eat a good pizza and actually it was one of the best pizzas we ate in our life. So tasty, crunchy and even when it cools down a little, stays perfect. Very cosy restaurant, great and nice staff. Service is fast. Great value for money. I would return if I had more days in Valletta. Could not recommend more!

The Cacio e Pepe pizza is amazing. I’m lactose intolerant and took 10 lactaid pills and prayed they would work haha! The pizza is delicious and this is coming from a couple who just spent a week in Italy eating top notch pizza. Service is friendly and attentive too. Free WiFi! Nice fan to keep yourselves cool while eating.

Had amazing experience in there. It was my first evening in Malta and the dinner there was a good choice to taste authentic flavours. Rabbit in stew had a depth and rich flavour, and sea bass was great too. The fish soup and fried sheep cheese were also very tasty. Good vibe and attentive staffs. Strongly recommend this place.

I was recommended this place by someone I’d met at my hotel. I went right as it opened one night, but reservations are absolutely needed beforehand. It’s such a small place (but absolutely adorable!) I went at 6:00 and the only time they had available was 8:45 that evening (for one person). Ended up making a reservation the next night for 6:30. By the time I’d left, the place was full of people and all I heard around me was how delicious everything was. I tried the rabbit with veggies (couldn’t decide between this and the stew). To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of rabbit (it was cooked perfectly, fell right off). The veggies and potatoes however, chefs kiss! SO good! Wish I would have liked the taste of rabbit - but that’s on me, and not the restaurant. Loads of people around me had the rabbit stew and raved about how good it was! The staff were incredibly hospitable and friendly… some of the kindest service I’ve experienced in a long while. Thank you for a lovely evening!

I really wanted to try the rabbit stew and this place was recommended by many influencers and reviews. It is recommended to book a table in advance, as the place is very small and fills up very quickly. I think it might be just my taste, but for me this was extremely unflavoured. The steamed veggies and potato were just plain, and for the rabbit I was expecting some thicker sauce, but it was rather thin, like water. Maybe it's usual for a rabbit, but there were more bones than meat, and the the meat was also flavourless. Generally it looked like they cooked the meat in water and then just covered it with this thin sauce -there were no harmony at all. I am sorry for this experience because the servers and the atmosphere was really great.

The only positive thing we have is the local vibe of a small restaurant in a quiet corner in the heart of one of the busy area Sliema in Malta. Apart from warm welcome from the waitress, everything else is quite under standard and same with many reviews, they should do a lot to improve their service. They are quite small with tables very close next to each other. Some guests can find it very difficult to move in/out their table or just be comfortable in their seats. Despite their size, 2 waitresses seem chaotic with their orders. We are invited to their menu of the day and when I checked what is the special of the mixed grilled meat, she just said it’s special because it’s the dish of the day. It turned out nothing special at all. The meat was too dry. Rabbit is ok, big portion but we are not a big fan. I don’t blame the restaurant though just comment on the popular rabbit dish in Malta may not worth to get. The waiting time is huge, we wait for nearly one hour to get our dish. The side dish is the same for our 2 main dishes, but they served in one bowl without letting us know. When we asked, they replied that it’s already the portion for two, it’s disappointing as they just bring to the next table for 1 person with exactly the same portion. Price is not cheap and you need to make reservation. I think what ruined the experience is their lack of service more than other things.

Easily my favorite restaurant in town. A family run place, with traditional cuisine, in a genuinely beautiful setting, just off the main street, but worth hunting down. They seem regularly fully booked, but we managed to get a table for 2, early on the day after we hoped to go. When we left, there was already a queque of diners, booked in, and just waiting for their tables to come free. That's enthusiasm.

Very friendly and helpful staff, delicious food! You need to try their rabbit. We also had their daily fresh catch (fish) and it was amazing. Amazing restaurant, would recommend!

Dining at 59 Republic was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent — refined, flavorful, and beautifully presented, just as you'd expect from a Michelin-rated restaurant. The cocktails were very good as well. The staff was outstanding: attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. They took great care to ensure we felt comfortable and well looked after throughout the evening. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but absolutely worth it for the quality of food, service, and overall experience. If you're in Valletta and looking for a special dinner spot, this place should be at the top of your list.

Food: I have rarely eaten such good beef tartare, and our main course was also excellent. Prepared to perfection, beautifully presented, and perfect in taste. Value for money: The food seems very expensive, but considering that you now pay up to EUR 20 for a pizza and the impeccable quality and the star rating that this restaurant has had for more than 5 years, the prices are absolutely justified – especially given the high quality on offer. Conclusion: Malta offers a variety of restaurants in the Michelin Guide, and a visit to these — especially here at 59 Republic — is definitely highly recommended! Pleasantly surprised. Very nice athmoshere oppposite Grandmasters Palace. Very attentative service. Good menu with good choices. Food well executed. Mains were very good. Beef Wellington very good. Fish filet very good. For a change a chef that is a real chef with propery training. Only regarding desserts room for improvement. This is just for the kitchen so they can improve: frozen joghurt was not frozen at all. brownie was texture too fudgy. This is going to be my new local eatery in Malta from now on. We used to go to Phoenicia hotel which is simar price level. But their quality has gone down beyond believe. Another case where I do not understand google ratings. This should have solid 5 stars. Whilst other places with 5 stars should not have them.

We ended on a high note with cocktails: a silky espresso martini and an After Eight martini that’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had—balanced, smooth, and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and attentive without hovering, and the relaxed atmosphere made it all the more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking inventive small plates and top-tier drinks. The manager and waiter I believe to be “Osai and Zetti” were very caring!!

The service and atmosphere of this restaurant is fantastic. We walked in without a reservation (4 of us) and got a table right away, outside in the square. Our server was fantastic as well, very attentive. The food was fine, the prawn tacos were amazing and the brownies were as well. Overall a good stop in Malta especially if you’re looking for a quite but scenic place to get a good meal.

We had a great experience last night. Fantastic food, service and drinks. The crispy pork, tempura mushrooms and Tom Yum amongst our favourites. All the staff who we spoke to were the best. Great cocktail list and we felt a cut above the rest of the meals we have had on our holiday. If Asian Fusion is your thing get yourself along.

Fabulous food and drinks for an early dinner. Dropped by right at opening and Rochelle was so great, getting us sat down straight away. Happy hour cocktails were delicious, would highly recommend the Kyoto Garden. The food was some of the tastiest asian food I’ve had, would absolutely come back.

It is my fourth week in Malta now and this is the best restaurant i went to! The food was a taste sensation. We can especially recommend the butter chicken and the yellow curry. The service was excellent as well, Rochelle took very good care of us.

It was our first night in Malta, so they gave us the perfect first experience ^^. Sony, our waiter was sweet, smiley and always making sure we had just what we needed. My mother was lactose and gluten tolerant and they still had some meals to offer her.

I visited Aaron’s Kitchen with my family and we had an absolutely wonderful time. I’ve always thought that Michelin-recognized restaurants come with very high prices, but here the menu is surprisingly reasonable, with “normal” prices for truly outstanding food. The dishes were excellent – beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and simply delicious. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it perfect for both a family outing and a special evening. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy top-quality food without the intimidating price tag often associated with fine dining.

Great meal and service. 100% book a head and reserve a table very popular restaurant. We shared the rabbit patties, gorgeous as starter. I had the pork ribs my wife had the duck breast. Both cooked to perfection. The wine selected by our waiter very good as our 1st choice was out of stock.

We had walked past this restaurant many times in our week in Malta and it was always full! We decided to see what everyone was experiencing by making an online booking. We requested an outdoor table when we arrived and one was available - nice atmosphere outside and they had patio heaters to offset the cool evening in November. Nice varied menu plus many specials for the day made it a challenge to decide! In the end we ordered the local sharing platter to start. This was a good choice and we were able to try a few different items which we wouldn’t normally have tried eg corned beef and liver wrapped in bacon. For our main course I had the suckling pig - this was beautifully cooked and so tasty. My wife had the large prawns which were great too though she felt the accompanying risotto was too spicy. Too full for desert! Excellent and attentive service from the staff. Overall a great meal and can see why it was always full!

Great place for dinner. We made reservations and we easily scheduled in at 7:30pm. Not a lot of people dining at first. Great service. We were brought our drinks, delicious bread, and appetizers daily quickly. Then our meals. We ordered the rabbit stew. Delicious. Also had one of the specials for the day, the Prawn Aracini. Both were delicious. Rabbit was tender and full of delicious sauce. I recommend an early dinner if possible. The restaurant started to get filled with people around 8:30pm. I noticed most had reservations. A few people who did not have a reservation were offered outdoor seating which was not bad either.

Our first dinner in Valetta. We didn’t have a booking but we were there early enough to get a table inside. It was very warm outside so we were glad they had a spare table inside. So, yes best to book in advance so you can enjoy their food. I ordered the duck as my main & it was delicious. My husband ordered from their specials list & ordered the fish. I had a bite & that was great as well. There were complimentary bread and my meal came with potatoes so we were stuffed.

Had high expectations for a Michelin recommended restaurant. But the food was nothing special, especially for the price. I ordered a lamb dish and my partner had duck. Both were unevenly cooked with parts more like medium well when we asked for rarer meat. The side vegetables were poor as they had no flavour. The potatoes were very nice though. Overall, I felt that can get better food for less money and not Michelin recommended back in the UK.

For the price, I expected a bit more. The rabbit stew was tasty, not mindblowing but the presentation and the way that potatoes and vegetables (very small amount of them tbh€ were served, left a lot to offer. I will admit though, that the dessert was incredible and beautifully served, as I’ve learned later, the chef is a pastry chef and that explains a lot. While it’s cosy, the inside is a bit old looking, there are weird posters on the walls, and the toilet is just disgusting and dirty

My partner and me, we were absolutely thrilled! First they gave us a nice table even dough it was all reserved. They gave us some appetizers - grilled bread with fresh paste made of beans, black olives seasoned with garlic and pepper. Delicious! “Trabuxu” is an authentic Mediterranean Bistro in the center of Valletta with warm atmosphere, nice decor, delicious food and unique presentation. Friendly and welcoming staff to start the Maltese evening with Delicious food and great selection fine wines.

I am from Canada and I was told about this restaurant from a co-worker who had lived in Malta. It was a great recommendation as you could tell that the quality of food was top notch.

The staff were very efficient and friendly. The food was exceptional as was the atmosphere. When we first arrived at the restaurant our greeting by a guy with a beard was very frosty and unwelcoming but he soon got over that and we had a good time.

As a British maltese I can truly say the food is authentic cooked in house amazing fresh pasta ! Fresh pesto and amazing nuts served with the meal. True maltese food!! 10/10

It has a great central location on Republic Street, perfect for a sightseeing break. The gelato is nicely presented and tastes good, though not exceptional. Staff could be more welcoming, as service feels a bit rushed. Still, a decent stop for a quick treat in the city.

The Gelato was very interesting in texture here- kind of more like a snow cone than like ice cream. The flavors were also unusual- I got the lime and basil one which I think the basil flavor might have been a bit too strong

Great selection and wonderful presentation. The ice cream tastes very good but the taste itself isn’t anything out of the ordinary. I loved the ice cream makaron and can only recommend trying!!

The flower shaped gelato was truly an art and not only aesthetically pleasing but also tasty! Dulche de leche was exceptional with the chocolate also nice.

This tiny eatery at the top of St Paul’s Street in Valletta could be so much more. Unfortunately it looks like it’s small size gas not managed to overcome the costs of doing business and it has fallen on hard times. The very limited wine list and excessive pricing (6 times the retail price for a Doppio Passo Primitivo) seems to point in that direction. Nevertheless the chef patron was engaging and spent some time with us, considering the only other server seemed to lack the finesse needed for the prices we were charged. A case in point to mention is that the cost of what we had was comparable to higher class restaurants serving better food, greater choice, with better service and a more memorable experience. All this was short or completely lacking on the night we were there.

The food was plain and tasteless, especially the chicken and the veal. There were no spices or herbs used on the chicken, the veggies or the potato mash... The 25eur veal tasted like a plain schnitzel. We finished our meals only because we were hungry & tired. Our waiter kept repeating that he is very satisfied that we liked the food. This was a statement we never made ourselves and we finally had to reply that it's not exactly the case. Then the waiter returned with the chef and they made the point that we should have returned the dishes when we didn't like them instead of finishing them - not a great solution when you are hungry and tired. Also, I was not looking forward to choose another dish or to give a recipe to the chef on how to improve the taste. The service overall was poor for the quality of the restaurant they want to maintain. There were multiple issues, the most interesting one was that the waiter left the bottle of wine on the table and expected us to open it. Of course we then asked him to do that himself, which he did. They gave us a chocolate tart on the house to compensate for the experience with the main dishes. We appreciated the gesture, hence this is a 2* review instead of 1*. But anyone considering a visit should be warned.

After todays walking we wanted dinner to be close. And ideally away from the madding crowd. This restaurant did not disappint. Put aside the fact that we were the only two patrons, it was an event to savour. Never before have we had this experience. Seated on a street away, but close to the restaurant. Served by an elder gentleman called Patrick who was happy to chat and answer our questions - about anything really. Later Dimitri the chef came and had a chat too and as we paid our bill, we were able to chat to his kids - and tell them to go to bed!! Dad’ll be home soon.

We visited Dimitri on Friday 9/8 for a late lunch (around 1:30 pm) and had THE BEST experience with Chef Dimitri. I ordered the trio mushroom pasta and Chef Dimitri recommended the chicken and chorizo pasta for my son. Since my son does not eat pork, Chef said he would make it without the chorizo. Let me tell you...BEST pasta we've ever had !! The pasta is made fresh and you can tell. All the ingredients used tasted fresh and went so well with the red wine suggested by the chef. I'm so glad good this delicious redirecting and HIGHLY recommend visiting Chef Dimitri!

Fabulous food and fantastic Dimitri! We had the Maltese fish soup, octopus stew, rabbit and the lobster pasta accompanied by a bottle of very good local Chardonnay. Everything was delicious and Dimitri made us feel like we were his close friends rather than guests. This is definetly the place to eat while in Valletta! And the homemade bread was to die for!

Nice restaurant in a quiet street of Valletta. Friendly staff. Tagliatelle Frutti di Mare al Cartoccio was amazing 👍It's Squid Ink Pasta cooked al cartoccio with fresh mussels, tomatoes, clams, calamari cooked in garlic and finished in a fresh prawn bisque sauce.

We had 5 dinners in Valletta during our stay and this one was by far our favorite. Everything we had was delicious, including the 2 starters (scallops and fried goat cheese) and 3 entrees (lobster tagliatelle, pesto spaghetti, and even the kids pasta). The house wine was also delicious and very affordable. Didn’t have dessert because we were too full but I’m sure it is great as well.

This restaurant was absolutely breath taking🤯 I came and the waitresses immediately welcomed me with sweet words and seated me. The restaurant has extremely nice decorations and menu. The food was delicious and their drinks were also amazing😋 Me and my girlfriend had a really great time and we will definitely come back❤️ I recommend trying drink called Drunken Chemistry and Green Hulk😁 Their mojito is also amazing😉

We really enjoyed our meal at Preca. The Pasta Norma (in vegetarian section of menu and not pasta section) was fantastic and the Parma ham and melon salad was also great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Just had an amazing experience at this restaurant! Other reviewers weren't kidding about the traditional rabbit dish, it was absolutely delicious and the portion was enormous. I could barely finish it all! The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned, very authentic preparation. What really stood out was the exceptional service. The waiter was incredibly polite and attentive throughout the entire meal. You can tell the staff really cares about making sure guests have a great time. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic cuisine with generous portions and top notch service!

Highly recommend this place. We were so famished, we forgot to take pics of the food but everything was great! The drinks were flavorful and hit the spot. The restaurant is in a great location nearby to so much. If you want an all in one place to visit, drink, great atmosphere and great food then this is your spot.

The portions were very generous. The size of the pasta could have been to 2-3 people. So order it when you are really hungry. It wasn’t a flavorful experience and the carbonara was slightly over done - had a hint of egg taste to it. Its located at a busy street so you will hear cars and have lots of people pasaing through the restaurant. I appreciated that it also had an area where smoking was not allowed.

We were on a trip in Malta and walked past the restaurant a few times, we decided to give it a shot. Best decision ever. Had dinner there 3 times after that. We did reverve a table to avoid waiting times, the last day we arrived early and it still wasn't a problem even though the restaurant was full and long line was waiting outside. The staff is very friendly, smiling the whole time. The food was excellent 10/10, the cocktails were also the bests we had in Malta the whole week. If I go back to Malta, I'm going to visit again for sure.

Great food, attentive service from staff. I was told that mains could be prepared gluten-free. The rabbit tasted really well and was massive portion with potatoes and veggies as sides. As a coeliac, I had no issue eating there.

Great Little Place to grab lunch. Although i was tempted by the name...I love piadinas ....I had an Amazing base salid with all the vegan options. The outdoor seating in a Little side street on a Hill was the perfect Malta atmosphe for lunch. Note. Tables are small... Perfect for two. Also you have tò get a Little use to eating sideways ...or if you are in the chair facing down the Hill... Its like getting a slight squat workout pushings back so your chair does not slide down the Hill. All in all, i recommed the Piadina Caffè for lunch. The salid was really nice and the staff are really friendly.

We’ve been there a couple times in our stay in La Valetta and totally worth it. The vibe is super nice. They have draught beer and the food is simple but really nice (ask for recommendations).

I recently visited Piadina Café & Pizza and had a wonderful experience. The menu isn’t very large, but everything is prepared with great care and tastes fantastic. Their pizzas are offered in three different styles, which is a nice touch, and the salads are absolutely huge and fresh. The atmosphere is really charming – the café is located on a narrow, steep street, which adds a unique and cheerful vibe to the place. Service is attentive and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, it’s a cozy spot with excellent food and a warm atmosphere – definitely worth a visit!

Among the many (quite similar) places in the area, this one stands out for the exceptionally good service and nice relaxed atmosphere. We were a party of 5, we were seated ina "creative" but comfortable way on the sidewalk, and had our drinks customized to out taste. Recommended!

Great drinks, pure alcohol drinks with too many choices especially in gin (that we tried) for all kinds of wallets. The owner ( Ralph )is a very nice guy with too much hospitality in him. He respects ppl and he is making your time there great! I recommend that place if you visit Malta. It's a very typical tourist restaurant in the heart of valletta. We chose to seat in a table which had three chairs but they told us that was to big for two people, and finally send us in a tiny table with two chairs which had space onpy for two plates and a salad, not even to put our phones on it. The atmosphere isn't good while too many people walking aroumd you and the lack of fans make it uncomfortable to stay there for time. I think that all restaurants in those street are similar. So, try to find a restaurant out of this zone.

Terrible food experience! I’ve never tried anything worse. • Pasta with octopus was awful: the octopus tasted sour and bitter, clearly not fresh, and I almost threw up. The pasta itself was overcooked and broken apart. • Pasta with mushrooms was drowning in oil and had a terrible smell. • Pasta carbonara was tasteless, with a sauce that seemed like it came from powder – absolutely not real carbonara. The only Italian thing there seems to be the names of the dishes. And to make it worse, there was no toilet available. The only positive part was the waiters – they understood our complaints, were friendly, and offered to change the dish. We switched to a Caesar salad, which was of course better than the pasta (hard to mess up a salad), but still far from delicious. Anyway, thanks to the waiter for trying. I strongly do not recommend this place if you don’t want to ruin your Maltese food experience. I hope the manager or owner reads this and considers changing the chef and improving the kitchen, because the place itself looks nice and the music wasn’t bad.

To begin, we came on what we hoped was a lovely evening, instead we were deeply disappointed. Three of our group ordered the pasta which came far too thick for a tagliatelle and it was tasteless. Microwaveable food would’ve been more enticing. The mushroom sauce was particularly bland, and then there was NO salt and pepper on the table to make up for this. The spaghetti aglio had enough garlic to ward off a vampire, definitely not one for a first date if anyone was considering. Moreover, the nachos were stone cold with stale chips, squirty cheese, guacamole that had definitely never come in contact with an avocado and a random ‘garnish’ of raw onion on top. It was practically inedible for €12. On the whole, awful experience, WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Disappointing vegan burger. Pay almost 15 Euros and it looks a bit sad with hardly any salad. It costs nothing to add a tomato and extra lettuce especially to make the eating if the dense vegan burger easier and more refreshing. The chicken burger had a lot of salad and looked more like a small meal.

Menu looked appealing. which was the reason why we chose this restaurant. I ordered the Bruschetta cacao e Pepe as a starter, and a Piadina style wrap. My partner ordered a Buddha Bowl. After at least a thirty minute wait, both the starter and main course arrived at the same time. The Bruschetta that arrived definitely wasn’t the one that we’d ordered, so we sent it back and it was supposed to have been an appetiser. The waiter apologised for the delay and told us that the reason for the delay was that the kitchen was very busy. Were they suddenly taken by surprise that with a nearly full restaurant in Summer, they may be busy and had never experienced this happening ever before? The solution. Either hire more kitchen staff to cook food quicker or reduce the number of tables you’re attempting to serve in the restaurant. Other serious issue. The restaurant shares a single toilet cubicle, for both male and female customers, between the two other adjoining restaurants, which are all operated by imPasta. There was a line of ten people waiting when I wanted to use the toilet. This is unacceptable.

Be aware that the menu shown on Google is not up to date. I was looking forward to a healthier option in this area but left very disappointed. The dish lacked any flavor. The hummus was bland, the rice was mushy, and the cooked vegetables were diced into unappetizing pieces.

We went here on a hot July evening and the service was awful... Just plonked a can on the table with no glasses and not even the offer of a straw. Then nothing to nibble with cocktails as is usual in Italy (this is supposed to be an Italian place), so we ordered fries and they just put the metal fry basket on the table with not even a plate for ketchup. We didn't even bother ordering dinner!

The service was excellent — polite, fast and let us charge our phones. The pancakes were excellent — you should definitely try, but the omelette was salty. Portions very generous. The music was very loud along with loud noises from the bar/kitchen made the experience a bit tense and annoying.

Shoreditch has the best hot dogs in St Julian’s, great burgers and plenty of unique pancakes to choose from. I went on Sunday and loved everything about it, great vibes, friendly staff and top service. I’ll be coming back very soon! Also, the Jalapeno Cheesy was very good, I’d recommend it if you enjoy some spicey starters 🌭🍔🥞🥤

While vacationing in St. Julian’s, Malta we ate here for breakfast a few times. All visits were extremely faultless. The service is very good by members of staff, one time I was being blasted by the sun (annoying as a ginger) and the staff happily moved us out of the sunlight, which was a great little service touch. Being a vegetarian sometimes can be difficult to find suitable food but the establishment offers vegetarians options, and good ones at that! Veggie breakfast was top notch.

The food is not only delicious, but each bite feels like comfort. The staff are wonderfully kind and effortlessly chill, creating a space where you can simply relax and let the world slow down.

Great restaurant in St. Julian’s for hot dogs & burgers. I tried the Devil Dawg (spicy kick) & the English Dawg with chips & fresh coleslaw. Service was polite & kind, and the place was clean. Indoor & outdoor seating makes it a top choice. Highly recommend 🌭 🍔

I expected more from this place because it has very good reviews. The service was a bit slow and the tortillas were just ok. I tried the tuna wrap and the egg wrap.

We had the vegetarian breakfast. It was fantastic. We could tell the place had great customer service as the gentleman in charge, greeted us as soon as we arrived and made eye contact. Great background music and really chilled atmosphere. Can't wait to come again.

Went there for a late brunch with family. Food was delicious and nicely presented. A family member is gluten intolerant and the server went out of his way checking ( and rechecking ) to make sure the dish she wanted will be all with gluten free items. :)

Really great place with both inside and outside terrace/tables. We sat inside where there was a nice atmosphere with jazzy music in the background. We ordered a fluffy pancake and a vegan patty with avocado. Both were delicious. Price/quality ratio was very good.

This is a cute brunch place with a lot of options. The benedict eggs were good, but the cocktails could be a tad bit better. Good experience nonetheless!

Been here twice and every time it is absolutely amazing, both food and the street view. Every dishes are well designed and even the pre-meal bread is outstanding. Very recommended.

I was there for eat my breakfast. Food? Really good seriously, i am very happy and it was tasty. My friends also has positive feelings but there is one thing that ruined everything. Waiter, Server, i dont know how to say it in english but he was awful idk maybe something happen in his life before our visit but this guy was terrifying. If you want only good food ofc come here but if you want to have also good atmosphere this is not good place.

Crudo is a serious bet for breakfast or more. We went twice and stayed outside looking at the sea. Perfect, simple bruschetta and omelette sandwiches.

Service and espresso are great, but scrambled eggs didn’t taste much. Avocado was served still green, not ripe. Unfortunately not a so good experience for me.

Lovely spot conveniently located, with very kind and charming staff, and an attentive owner. Food was fast (though a little too much mayonnaise in my mackerel toast), my brother enjoyed his salmon toast, and coffee was good— I had a coconut milk macchiato which was so fatty and foamy. Smoothie was fresh and delicious. Extremely well priced, especially for the location and speed.

If i could give them more than 5 stars, i would. The only downside to this place is that they close at 3 pm, because i could eat here at any hour of the day.

Excellent menu and coffee! Loved it so much we came back here 3 times. The scrambled eggs are cooked perfectly, focaccia is delicious, and the salads and ingredients are all very fresh! The lemon zest on the eggs and salad are so tasty, we’ll try to copy that at home :) the staff is very friendly, too. Sitting outside or inside is both very cozy. Would recommend 10/10!

Fantastic little find in the heart of Valletta’s old town. Off the main drag and away from the throng of the maddening crowd, but still easily reachable. Amazing vegan food, incredibly nourishing and tasty (we had the Salad Bowl with Falafel and the Burger - both excellent) along with a couple of the smoothies - all tasted superb and were freshly made to order, with love and care. The “hosts” (I don’t think they have “owners” were both courteous, friendly, and generous. I’m not even vegan - but couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

Wonderful vegan food and great vibes. The owner was soooo funny and authentic. If you are looking for the perfect place for a late evening hang out, snack or beer with friends owned by real, non-corporate people, dont look further.

The place is so cosy. The staff is so friendly you feel home. The underground style decoration is just amazing. The ftira cost only 6 euros and is so tasty. The drinks are also well made. We highly recommend. Even if you go there alone, you are not gonna feel alone and you are gonna be busy discovering the little beautiful details of the place.

I had the most delicious vegan sandwich in this cute cafe with eclectic decor and retro 80s music. This is what holidays are all about :) the lemon coconut smoothie is also very unique and yummy! This is a fully veggie establishment.

My hotel was quite close to Gugar BAR and every time I walked past it was always busy, usually with the same faces sat outside. So I’m assuming it’s a favourite bar amongst locals as well as visitors - which is always a good sign. The bar itself is colourful, comfortable, and super cosy. I loved the eclectic style and various paraphernalia dotted around. The staff were very welcoming, but not intrusive. Food is freshly made and was absolutely delicious, as was my Aperol Spritz. Highly recommended.

Visited Gugar for lunch as we were docked in Valletta on our cruise...What a fabulous quirky place, loved it. Ordered a vegan burger and falafel wrap with two juices. Food was delicious as were the juices. Would definitely revisit when next in Malta.

Excellent and genuinely friendly staff! Huge selection of salads for affordable prices. I got a delicious salad to go for only 5 euros. Also had a chocolate croissant, yoghurt with fresh fruit and an orange juice. Everything very fresh and it tasted as good as it looked!

If you're on a vegetarian or vegan diet, this is a good place to go. Just ask for it. Fair pricing, lovely crew, and really tasty food varying from Wraps, to Burgers, Salads, you name it. There are also non vegan/vegetarian options, so you can eat here with all of your friends :) The restaurant is very small but offers seating outside.

Fast, healthy, fresh and tasty. Lo In the main tourist area and with a very reasonable price. Less than 10 euros per person. You cannot ask more :-)

The salads are fresh, crisp, and bursting with flavor, making it easy to savor every bite guilt-free. The pasta dishes are a work of art, with a variety of perfectly cooked pasta shapes and delectable sauces that leave your taste buds singing. What sets No 43 apart is their dedication to using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. You can taste the freshness in every dish. Whether you're a health-conscious eater or simply in search of a delightful meal, this place has something for everyone. The charming setting on the vibrant street adds to the experience. And the location is perfect for taking a break during your exploration of Valletta. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Beautiful place for dinner. The seats are distributed above the stairs, romantic fairy lights give the place a magical glow. You should have a table reservation or wait until a table is assigned. The waiting time is rewarded with an excellent meal. The pizza was outstanding, the lasagna highly recommended. We'd love to come back!

We had a lovely experience at San Paolo Naufrago in Valletta. The service was superb – friendly, attentive, and efficient – and the atmosphere was wonderful, with charming surroundings that make it a perfect spot to soak up the city’s vibe. It’s definitely worth booking in advance though; the queues were very long for walk-ins and quite a number of people were turned away , and we could see why! The only downside for us was the limited menu during our visit – pizza and lasagna were the only main courses available – but both were delicious and freshly made. A great place for a relaxed meal in the heart of Valletta. There is a minimum spend of €25 per person, which wasn’t an issue for us because we had starters, desserts and drinks as well. However, if you’re on a budget, you need to be aware of this.

Great atmosphere, beautiful place, good food. Delicious bruschetta, good lasagna, but for my taste, it could be a bit more intense and spicy. The pizza with burrata, mortadella, and pistachios was fantastic. A storm broke out during our meal, so the staff quickly gathered our belongings and moved us to the free balcony upstairs. Highly recommended. A mandatory 25€ per person minimum spend

One of the nicest, of the Italian street restaurants in Valletta. It's set at the top of the street running down to the waterfront in Valletta and actually is on both sides of the street. Small tables are arranged down the street's steps. It's a little precarious sitting on the metal seats on the narrow steps, but that's all part of the experience. They do have inside tables, but on a nice day, sitting outside is the place to be. Service is quick, friendly and professional. The wine list is excellent as are the beers and cocktails available. All of which is reasonably priced. Our pizzas were delicious. Great toppings and cooked to perfection. Homemade deserts looked fantastic, but we were too full to contemplate one! We went at lunchtime and we're lucky enough to get a table - you can guarantee they will be busy. If your in Valletta do try this lovely place. You won't be disappointed.

It was one of the coziest and prettiest restaurants in Valleta. The prices aren’t the lowest, but reasonable. The food was extraordinary but still tasty. The best factor was the atmosphere🙂

Decided to visit the restaurant after a TikTok recommendation and decided to book for my birthday. We reserved online and we didn’t have any wait. The food was very good and the service was impeccable. They were so fast with the service and we got our food and drinks not long after ordering. I do have 2 things that I found to be a downfall as I did have high expectations. We decided to get dessert as it was my birthday and I got a tiramisu. I was very disappointed by it. They replaced the coffee with Bailey’s which for an Italian restaurant was not the best look. We told the server this as well he apologised but I know he couldn’t do much about it. Another disappointment was when booking it asked if we had a special occasion which I wrote down and unfortunately no acknowledgement was made. I’m sure they get this all the time so I’m not sure if they pick and choose or if they just don’t bother with it anymore. I did find my cocktail in a small bath tub very hilarious.

This was a stunning experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive, but never too much- they created a friendly and cozy environment throughout the whole dinner. I loved the explanation of the dishes- very well detailed and clear. Wine was great and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. The food was incredible- such different flavours to what you expect and usually eat. I loved the combination of ingredients that I never thought could go together. This was an exquisite dining experience! Where shall I start? We were shown to our private room with a simple decor but elegant. The waiting staff was professional and courteous throughout the evening. We had the tasting menu which consists of 5 courses and many 'surprises' by Chef Victor. Each course is a unique display of artistry with an explosion of flavours. Each of the courses is not just served... The servers set up the table with props so that you can experience something truly original... Then you try the food and you're in heaven. The restaurant offers a great wine list and expert connoisseur to suggest best wine options. The experience lasts for roughly 4 hours however, the ambience is just perfect and time flies by. A wonderful experience indeed... Well done Chef Victor and all the Under Grain Team!

What can I say? Welcomed by the big man Chef Victor himself (busy in the kitchen). Atmosphere is beautiful, service super attentive and nice and food amazing. To be honest I've been to another 4 Michelin star restaurants 2 local and 2 abroad, this is definitely the best one. The service was extremely attentive, simple things, even how they present, decant and serve the wine absolutely amazing. Food all was over the top, only the petit fours were not out of this world but the rest of the food was absolutely amazing. With regards to reviews of people complaining about the time in between courses, I can truly say only between one course I thought It dragged a little long, but having said that restaurant was full and amazing food takes time to make Finally, regarding Chef Victor he was very warm to us and to finish it off they also have us a small chocolate and a signed menu as a parting gift. Well done to everyone who works there, experience was one of a kind

Best michelin star restaurant I have ever been to. The quality and taste of food, the presentation, the service, the timing - everything was just perfect and left me with awe. Even though I had only opted for the two course meal, I felt very full and satisfied by the end of my experience. The entire dinner lasted 3 hours, just like they said. If you decide to dine with Under Grain, allot for extra time, as they take care in enjoying the food and the presence of others. At the end of our dinner, we even got to say our thanks to the chef! I enjoyed just about everything that was served. The rabbit dish as well as the indoor picnic were quite delicious and memorable. We were first led to a lobby to wait before heading down. Be careful, there are two restaurants with similar names: Over Grain and Under Grain. We almost walked into the wrong restaurant! You must book ahead.

After spending €440 on a tasting menu for 2, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect first class, award winning, competition beating, blow your socks off food. IT WASN'T 😪!. After a polite welcome and being up sold some fizz, we then had to wait nearly an hour for the first "snacks" to arrive. The entire evening took 4.5hrs!! Way too long and way too slow. We were actually bored by the end and couldn't wait to get out of there. The food was ok at best. It lacked flair, flavour, and the presentation was no better than a gastro pub. The service, albeit polite and slick, was far from friendly and welcoming. It felt wooden and scripted. I would sadly not recommend this restaurant.

We greatly enjoyed the experience at Under Grain. The food was great. The staff provided a great service, without interrupting what felt like a really private and romantic experience. A special thank you to Omar who made us very comfortable throughout our 3.5 hrs meal. A minor negative is what felt like "upsell" moments during the course of the meal. This took away a bit from the experience, and I'd rather know the total cost upfront. The total ended up around 340 euro for 2 people.

My dining experience at Under grain was beautiful! The food were incredibly delicious. The service was top notch. It truly deserves its Michelin star. I also absolutely adored the random little surprises from the chef. I could not have chosen a better place for dinner. Truly wonderful, would definitely visit again.

Amazing cocktails. Great vibe. Friendly staff! We sat outside on the steps and enjoyed the great view. Such a great experience to sit on the steps with a small handmade table. The cocktails were incredible and creative, fair price for the location. I did get pooped on by a bird while sat outside! Staff were so helpful and got me a special “I got shat on” sticker (so it must happen a lot!) this defo added to the experience 🤣🐦 Would happily visit again and again!

I just wanted to have a beer after walking around Valletta for hours. It was love at first sight! Beautiful place, amazing staff and great drinks. I was by myself but I felt welcome and included! Thank you guys for making my stay in Malta even better!

We were in Malta at the end of May for 4 nights and stopped at Cafe Society for cocktails on the steps twice it was so nice. The service by Matz from France was what made it so special! He remembered what we ordered and was so friendly. Stop by and have a drink on the steps !

I love this place! This bar at the steps of the old town in Valletta offers some incredible cocktails, a super friendly staff and a great atmosphere! All this supported by DJs, live acts and shows. Perfect to enjoy some drinks, the music inside the bar or at the steps outside. You will always be welcomed with a smile and good vibes.

My favourite cocktail spot! Every one was unique and inventive, and it was fun to sit out on the stairs. Only issue was cleanliness, the cushions to sit on were very dirty and the steps themselves were covered in bird poop. If the cushions were proper garden ones that could be wiped down that would improve it a lot, and be a nicer environment to sip the delicious cocktails.

This was really the best espresso Martini in my whole life 😭❤️ these guys here take training and evolving as bartenders serious! Next level game they are playing. I would Give 10 stars if I could. Also a really untouristic alternative place with really cool people from all over the world that are thinking out of the box. You'll make New friends quickly! Also super relaxed to sit on pillows on the stairs of Valetta old city. 1000% love

This place is fantastic. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This guy (in my photo, the waiter.) is also a legend... First Class Plus service, smile and demeenar. EVERYONE is welcome here! Be yourself.... No one wants a copy... they want YOU..

Location is the only reason to stay here. The hotel has very poor air conditioning, the rooms are small and the furnishings are old and grungy. There are marks on the walls and the tiny bathroom tile has mold everywhere in the grout lines. The people who work there are nice and the included breakfast was a treat, but the overall experience was not good at all. I would not recommend this hotel.

Shower had no pressure, was hard to regulate heat/cold either freezing or scorching. Bathrooms need upgrading as shower over bath and difficult to manage for elderly guests Air condition seems to be turned off during day and poor cooling at night, we were there in Autumn can’t imagine how stifling it would be in summer

The Hotel location is great! Room 38 third floor is a very sad, smelling, dark and damp room with a view of the wires and stonework. Facilities are bare minimum, plug socket and hair dryer lead didn't fit, so had to ask for extension lead, which I finally was given on the 2nd day by a much more professional staff member than the one I had spoken to the previous evening. No full length mirror either. Positives: single bed and pillow comfortable Breakfast on roof terrace adequate Close to Bus Terminal for transport to Airport and anywhere you want to explore, bus fare cheap. Overall loved our stay in Valetta.

A complete disaster : from the room which was dirty and smelly and horribly noisy to the breakfast which is simply uneatable whith realy cheap food. 240€ for 2 nights is a scam. It is so frustrating since it has a great roof top and the common areas are beautiful.

We booked this hotel 1 night for around 150 euro with breakfast, relatively expensive for what we got. Maybe because it's long weekend there. It's really good location. Classic old hotel but poor condition. Lifts are charming, small but still working. Our room is hidden in staircase area. We had windows with inner view - mean no view and a bit of sunlight. A/C is old but working (not too strong but it's ok) Beds were ok. Quite clean. And it's quiet to stay here. Have refrigerator and 2 small water bottles. Sockets in the room are UK type. But it havs 1 that work with my adapter (EU) Bathroom were old and rusty. Small bathtub. Provided tubes of showergel , shampoo and small soap. Old Way to do warm water, needs to mix hot and cold in right temperature to not burn you. And it's a bit stinks from those drain. Overall it's ok to think that we just 1 night stay here. Breakfast room on the 5th floor, spectacular view of the harbour. Food were simple, bread, bacon, yogurt etc. Staffs were nice, good service. It's a shame for location with so poor condition of the room.

Nice area. Really good for a chill night out with friends. It can get quite busy but the staff is nice. You got some live music which is nice but if u next to them it's a bit loud and hard to talk. Great place for a chill night in Valletta

Went there to listen the band and it did not disappoint, great selection of beer along with friendly fast service. Music is on Friday and Saturday nights. Pretty cool......I’ll be back.

A special place for any beer lover visiting Malta. It has a really wide range of beer bottles to choose, from all around the world. Possibility to stay inside or on the few tables outside.

Great selection of drinks, cool vibe, friendly service (especially Estelle) and perfect location. The mango Dipa was our favourite.

my absolute FAVOURITE gelato place in Malta and I've been to many. Fair prices for good portion size and the gelato is delicious!! There are more sweet flavours, so if youre someone who loves sweet/ chocolate (like kinder, snickers, ferrero, etc) flavoured ice-creams, here is the place to go :)) I really recommend the cookies flavour!

Had two delicious crepes here, late in the evening since they open late even on weekdays. One with pistachio and it was fantastic. Plenty of sauce and crushed pistachios on it. The second with the Nutella sauce and it was also delicious. There was a great amount of sauce and icing sugar on this and we really enjoyed it. We also shared a mini banoffee ice cream to be able to taste it and it was great! The service was great and there’s a little area to sit outside and enjoy.

Although the best quality ice cream is found at Rivareno, for most people, the best quality-quantity-price combination is probably found at Sottozero (for reference; as of the end of 2023, three scoops at Rivareno cost about one Euro less than at Sottozero, but three scoops at Rivareno is also about the size of only one scoop at Sottozero - see my picture for the size of three scoops at Sottozero... :P). And the ice cream is genuinely good! The dark chocolate sorbet is genuinely good, the flavours taste as they should - that is, delicious - and, well, the size speaks for itself. The staff is friendly too. Note that there aren't many seating places though, this is something that could be improved.

The best ice-cream on Malta. Croissant looks tasty, but next time I will try it. Price is a bit high, but the spoon is big so if you compare with other this is good price for excelent taste and size of spoon. Recommend.

This particular Gelato shop was my absolute favorite whilst on Malta and it is located directly and conveniently across from the Sliema ferries. I had the Kinder Egg and also the Cherry Gelato here, they were exceptionally tasty. The Gelato here is well displayed and I’ve noticed that many a seller with the most delectable Gelato also do well in terms of presentation of their dessert wares. Friendly staff and astronomically good Gelato! I was thrilled! Please try the Kinder Egg and if you, like me love combos of chocolate and cherry then please get their regular cherry flavor.

Great gelato, good variety of tastes, kind staff. I was told that it’s the best ice cream on the island and it lived up my expectation. I agree with some of the previous reviews that they could use bigger cups so the ice cream does not melt in your hands. However, the taste deserves 5 stars.
