Kolovare Beach is a popular coastal spot in Zadar, Croatia, offering crystal clear waters for swimming and sunbathing. It's conveniently located near the Old Town, just a short walk away. The beach features a mix of sand and pebbles, with shaded green areas for picnics and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as showers, changing rooms, and toilets. Additionally, the beach is surrounded by a pine forest that provides shade during hot summer days.
Fantastic spot to swim at, I was surprised that everyone was behaving since not everyone does that in Sweden. There were so many nationalities, yet it felt safe. There weren't any loud music, no hookahs etc, you understand why I am talking about. I'd recommend coming with swimming goggles. The water is clear and you can spot individual fishes and sometimes a school of fish underwater. Very pretty ❤️.
Arvin — Google review
Only natural beaches equipped with showers. No private beach where you can rent a space having deck chair and umbrella to have shade all the time to spend the whole day. The water quality and views are excellent but not enough to have maximum pleasure. But in high season like in July you hardly can find a free spot at the beach. This is the biggest problem makes the beach time only good for a few hours not whole day.
Ehsan Z — Google review
Kolovare Beach is one of Zadar’s most popular spots, combining clear blue water with easy access from the city center. The beach is mostly pebbly with some shaded areas, great for swimming or relaxing by the sea. Facilities include showers, cafés, and sunbed rentals, making it comfortable for a full day. It can get busy in summer, but the atmosphere remains lively and friendly. Perfect for a refreshing swim after exploring Zadar’s old town.
Dani B — Google review
Oh my goodness, the Adriatic sea at this beach is crystal clear and the temperature of the water was so pleasant I could have swam all day. I set my towel under a huge tree to shelter from the blistering sun, and to be near the ladder to the sea. I was lying on packed earth, there is a lovely concert walkway right beside the sea, but no shelter there from the sun. My point being, the packed earth was revoltingly covered in cigarette butts, I've never in my life seen so many in one place. More bins definitely need to be provided, but until that happens, bring your rubbish away with you cigarette butts are definitely rubbish, put them in a bottle or something until you are leaving and bring them with you. The famous crystal clear waters of the Adriatic won't be clean for long with the bad attitude of beach users.
Ana C — Google review
Absolutely stunning spot right in the heart of Zadar! The water at Kolovare is crystal clear, refreshing, and incredibly clean — perfect for swimming or just cooling off. You can see right down to the seabed, and the calm waves make it ideal for all ages. The area is well-maintained with showers, cafés, and shady spots under pine trees. Whether you're in for a quick dip or a whole beach day, Kolovare never disappoints. Truly a gem on the Adriatic!
Davor C — Google review
The water was sparking clean, beautiful view. It is immediately deep for swimming. There were cafes, jet skis, and outdoor volley ball but we never used any of those. Very crowded beach, we were lucky enough to find free parking though. Had a good experience until we used the bathroom before we left… no toilet paper, no hand soap, and there was diarrhea on the toilet and floor.
Emily — Google review
Nice visit, but the inflatable play area is dull and well aged. Kids played on it anyhow for an hour. They charge hourly or by 1/2 day or day. Paid parking lot is fairly close. Good walk from here to the old town. Didn't stay at the hotel. Just visit the beach.
Chris B — Google review
Very nice town beach. At 10 minutes from the center of Zadar it offers all the necessary amenities such as sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, baths, a bar (with high prices) and even two beach courts (don't throw yourself away that it's not really soft sand). Space is not much, but you can always find a place. Both the seabed and the beach are made of stones but you will have no problems walking on it. You can't plant umbrellas because there's concrete under the stones, there's a part with the trees but it doesn't change much. The parking is large but paid for (1€ per hour) but if you are lucky you can also find it free along the way. Super recommended beach if you want to stay in the city. I saw some toys on the water for childrens and a place where to do dives not too far

Bad beach, full of trash, don’t know how people are capable of leaving such a mess behind. Also not really a beach at all, just some rocks near the sea. The authorities should really be more aware and fine people who litter because it completely ruins the place

Lovely small beach front. It's not too busy and honestly feels more like a lake front vs a beach. Beautiful clear water! Not at the sandy resort next door thr water doesnt not look clear or nice like it does by this natural pebble beach front. It is a pebble beach, not flat smooth rocks so definitely invest in some water shoes. If not the resort next door has a small outdoor stand selling some for just 10€ and even extras for kids like floaties. Bring an extra towel or chair cushion if you plan to lay out and tan. The water is Cold! Well much colder than Spain medieterrian but warmer than the pacific that's for sure. The beach front is long enough kids can get a good ways out and be comfortable walking around and without any waves to take them out. And ice cream truck comes by daily too between 1100 -1300. Just a nice place to relax!

The Five Wells Square, located near the Land gate, is a historic public square dating back to the 16th century. It is renowned for its five ornate stone wells that were part of a water supply system designed by the Venetians. The square is surrounded by medieval structures, including the Captain's tower embedded in the city walls. Visitors can climb to the top of this tower for a panoramic view of the Old Town.
This is a fantastic square with the five wells that used to supply water to the whole of Zadar and plenty of places to eat and drink. Take the steps behind the wells to look down on the land gate entrance to the old town.
Stephen B — Google review
Zadar is AMAZING! Five wells square is just breathtaking, stept in history, easy going and easy flowing, not too busy. Be careful, some of the footpath cobbles can be slippy (when dry) so if you have trainers or flat sandles, just be careful when going up or downhills or steps. Overall amazing, cant wait to go back.
Gemma M — Google review
A little bit hidden from the center but a must see in Zadar, next to a cute park where you can rest or enjoy a drink
Tseng C — Google review
Pet Bunara Square or 5 Fountain Square is one of the most iconic in Zadar. In it we find the Medieval Tower Kula Bablja or Captain's Tower. And next to her are the remains of the old wall. The five fountains of the square were used to distribute water to the whole city.
Mat B — Google review
A nice place and you can enter the beautiful park nearby

One of the hot spots to visit in Zadar. Some beautiful buildings to see. Plenty of ice cream shops and bars and restaurants to check out. The alleyways from the site are great to see. The church is very beautiful place also.
Hywel M — Google review
We visited the Five Wells Square, about 1:00 PM on a Monday and found it wonderful. The area was not at all crowded and access to the tower and the wells was extremely easy. I understand this is the original site where a large mote existed, creating an Island. The view of the old city gate is very impressive from this area.

Borik Sandy Beach is located just four kilometers outside of Zadar city center and is part of the Falkensteiner Resort. While there may be a small fee to access this half-sand, half-gravel beach, it includes various facilities and activities. The picturesque pebble-filled shoreline offers an ideal location for swimming and lounging. For a more secluded experience, visitors can explore Puntamika Beach with its quiet coves, charming cafe, and scenic lighthouse.
Nice beach! We loved it. Good access to the sea, no shoes needed. There is parking fee (€10 a day if I’m correct) by the beach, but we’ve left our car in the city, and walked for 10 minutes. No problem.
Marianna Z — Google review
Very nice view but hard to say its a sand beach here, if you follow the coastline there is a small non-natural sand beach. I surprised to see first time how people randomly lying on concrete stones next to road for sun bathing. I recommend to have a sea shoes because rocks are pointy and some of them sharp. If you have time i can recommend to visit further beaches
Humaku — Google review
Awful beach! As if you were swimming in a port. Plastic chairs for 10€ to rent (each)? Are we serious? The craziest fact was that this place was recommended as the best beach in Zadar by 3 locals…Overall, we were disappointed from the beaches in Zadar..If you come from Mediterranean countries, it most probably won’t meet even your lowest expectations….
Iro P — Google review
We like the beach. It is not 100% sandy and we recommend wear swimming shoes. In July 2025 water was clear enough. I enjoyed swimming. The bad thing that I didn't find working shower for wash out salt from the body after swimming. We have big towel for sitting on the ground, so no need to rent beach chairs.
Deniss — Google review
It’s not really a sandy beach, it’s a rather combo. So don’t expect Caribbean style sandy beach. Around you have all the fun amenities and bars. Here is my favourite authentic find from Zadar as l wanted to bring home something useful.
Gerard D — Google review
Family-friendly pebble beach with clear, shallow water and good facilities. Showers don’t always work, and when it’s windy the water can get a bit murky. It can be crowded in summer, so best to come early.
Roman P — Google review
Very dirty beach, trash everywhere. Chairs 10 euro each, two for 25!! But you can watch very nice sunset here
Rugilė M — Google review
We walked 4km to find this sandy beach in Zadar. The sand is more Tenerife than Cancun so calling it sandy is a stretch! Laying on it was like lying on concrete. We tried a sunbed but were told they were €20 for the day for 2. However, we found out later that they charge the locals only half of that price!! The beach isn’t particularly clean with plenty of wasps enjoying the debris at the water edge. We won’t bother returning to this beach.

Nestled along the stunning coastline of Zadar, the Sea Organ is a remarkable fusion of art and nature that captivates visitors with its enchanting melodies. This large experimental musical instrument is ingeniously designed beneath a staircase leading to the sea, where waves interact with a hidden system of pipes and whistles. As the tides ebb and flow, they create hauntingly beautiful sounds that are both unpredictable and mesmerizing.
It’s one of the most unique and peaceful places I’ve ever visited. The sound of the waves creating soft, natural music is so relaxing — perfect for just sitting back and enjoying the moment. The sunset here is breathtaking — the sky turns into a mix of orange, pink, and purple while you listen to the ocean "play" its song. The atmosphere is calm, romantic, and ideal for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. A beautiful blend of nature, art, and sound. Don’t miss it if you’re in Zadar!
Niroshan P — Google review
This was one of the most unique and mesmerizing public art installations I’ve ever experienced. It looks like a giant glass disc set into the promenade, but as the sun sets, the entire thing comes alive with vibrant, shifting lights powered by solar energy collected during the day. The best part? You’re watching this incredible light show right next to the Adriatic, with live waves crashing and the Sea Organ playing in the background. Magical. The atmosphere in the evening is peaceful yet energetic—locals and travelers just soaking in the vibe. A must-visit if you’re in Zadar, especially at sunset.
Madhushree M — Google review
A very interesting spot on the embankment. The entire embankment is a pleasant place for a stroll, but the sea organ is a must-see, a chance to sit on the steps and listen to the sea sing. The best time to visit is when the waves are moderate. If the waves are calm, the sound is almost inaudible. If the waves are very rough, the sea floods the steps.
Miha S — Google review
It's a particularly special feeling when the sun sets and the people gathered there spontaneously begin to clap, as if they've just witnessed a performance. And when I think about it more closely, it really is the best show I've ever seen! So...the Sea Organ (Morske orgulje) is a unique architectural sound art object and experimental musical instrument located on the coast of Zadar, Croatia. Designed by architect Nikola Bašić, this ingenious creation uses the power of the sea to create a symphony of sound. Hidden beneath a series of large, white marble steps are 35 organ pipes of different lengths, shapes, and sizes. As waves and tides wash into the coastline, they push air through these pipes, producing melancholic and beautifully random musical tones. Because the sea is ever-changing, the organ never plays the same melody twice, making each listening experience a one-of-a-kind moment. Waiting for the sunset while listening to the Sea Organ is truly a spectacular and unforgettable experience. This is confirmed by the large number of people who gather to enjoy the hypnotic sound and the breathtaking spectacle of the sun dipping below the horizon. It's a place where nature, art, and human emotion come together in perfect harmony.
Damir — Google review
A lovely place to visit / stroll around sunset. It was a perfect October/Autumn evening with lesser crowds and the musician, @itseyevan, playing near Church of St. Donatus was wonderful … thank you
Connie G — Google review
We loved sitting and listening, but sunset time was soooo full of people. I’m not sure if there are better times to go and get photos and listen. Regardless of all the human noise at the time, the organ is still quite loud, and it was so fun to hear!
Lindsay B — Google review
Visited here in the evening with family to hear the sea organ and see the lights. We all had a great time. The kids were able to run around which they liked.
Katie B — Google review
A nice place which you should visit and rest a little bit to enjoy the combination of sounds between sea waves and instruments. It is a nice creation made by engineers under water. Take a break and enjoy the rest.

The Cathedral of St. Anastasia is a massive Romanesque cathedral located in Zadar, Croatia, known for its richly decorated interior and scenic views from its bell tower. It is considered a gem on the Dalmatian Coast and one of the most famous sights in Zadar. The city itself offers a blend of ancient history and modern marvels, with attractions like the Romanesque Church of St.
The best view in the old town from the highest point in the old town! It’s a relatively easy climb to the top ; 180 steps & 50m high. There’s a nice cool breeze through the open windows as you ascend, and several platforms where you can rest/ catch you breath if needed. The 360’ views at the top are amazing. Absolutely worth the climb!
Gustav — Google review
Old Romanesque cathedral which sits in the middle of the Old Town. Very impressive on the outside and well-decorated inside. Honestly, unless you are a history buff or want to climb up for a better view of the Old Town, I didn't find this Cathedral any special. Didn't regret stopping by, but would skip next time.
Ed G — Google review
An old Church but well maintained, built centuries back. It has a Bell tower from which you can see the old town from above. The view is spectacular.
Wadad L — Google review
As some already stated this “church” operates as a Pharisee business model charging God fearing people entrance fee. Who does that??? The house of God should be free to enter and pray for anyone and everyone who wishes to do so and not converted into a tourist attraction. Looks like the time Jesus himself warned us about is here: “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ ‭NKJV‬ There are far better tourist spots, bypass this one.
Katie N — Google review
I guess the most popular object in Zadar’s old town. Tickets are 4 euros for the tower or 5 euros if you choose tower+the cathedral. I didn’t notice any discounts. Tower is kinda easy to climb, there are many stops where you can sit down. I also enjoyed the cathedral itself. What you should know is that you can’t enter the cathedral if your shoulders are not covered or if your shorts/skirt is shorter than knee lenght. You can light up a candle inside (0,5 euro) if you like. I don’t know about paying with card, we paid cash. At about 13-14 pm the worker goes out for lunch so keep that in mind.
Medis L — Google review
I am not a church goer or lover but this cathedral is well worth a visit. We even attended the 11am mass on Sunday to enjoy the fabulous tenor singer and choir.

The Archaeological Museum Zadar, established in 1832, is one of the oldest museums in this part of Europe. It houses a vast collection of over 100,000 artifacts spanning from the prehistoric era to ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, as well as the early Christian period. The museum showcases archaeological material from various ages including Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Ages, Roman and Byzantine Periods.
Very interesting and well organized and explained, there are many well- preserved items that are absolutely worth seeing, among them statues and inscriptions, tiles, etc, but especially the quality of some personal objects on display such as precious jewellery, pottery, combs etc is unique. It is quite small but a good visit will take at least an hour.
Monica P — Google review
Interesting sculptures only on the first floor! Some of the works are really interesting and well-displayed (it's a pity that they are not protected). The other floors seem to have been added for volume... In any case, I'm really glad that I visited this museum 👍🏻

Three floors of history in Croatia from the start 2500bc. Start on the 3rd floor and work your way down. Small museums on each floor, but very interesting with stories & artifacts, the 2nd floor for me was the best as ive always bee interested in Roman times, the artifacts are very interesting and tell the life in Zadar, Diklo & Nin. €7 entry, (cash only), there are also small plaques on the side of each board next to every artifacts that gives you information of each item, I noticed a lot of people were missing them.
Smithy — Google review
Very interesting exhibition. They renovated part about ancient Rome times (Antika), I hope the plan to do the same to the rest of the exhibition. "Antika" exhibition should be more about Zadar in Roman Empire, and less about Roman Empire in general. Several times the most interesting information connected to Zadar and/or the exhibits from Zadar were given on a very small, side labels.
Jola W — Google review
Nice museum, done in the old way of performing exhibitions. No elevator, so visiting with a small baby can be a challenge. One toilet if I'm not mistaken, questionable cleaned. The exhibition itself is nice, shows the tools, jewellery, parts of clothes, vessels and more from ancient times. However nothing unique I'm afraid. Good to take a walk (1 hour will be enough) to get some rest in a hot day.

The Museum of Ancient Glass is a modern museum housed in a historic palace, showcasing over 5000 ancient glass artifacts dating from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD. Visitors can enjoy glassblowing demonstrations and explore a gift shop. The museum's location in Zadar offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the city's culinary scene, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients such as truffles, sheep cheese, and Croatian prosciutto.
Amazing museum. I honestly knew nothing about ancient glass making til I went to this museum. Seeing 2000 year old glass objects, put into context is really something. A really interesting surprising place in Split. Strong recommend!
James G — Google review
The museum is a big disappointment as there are repetite glass items and no history or storytelling for the local craftmanship behind. All two floors are absolutely similar and you cannot gain any other perspective on this material locally out of its tomb usage. The cutest thing is the wall drawing between the floors. I'm quite dissapointed!
Dessyslava S — Google review
Recommend calling ahead if you want to go specifically to see the glass blowing workshop, as although their websites and signage state that it on weekdays 9am-2pm, I arrived around midday on a Wednesday only to be told it wasn't on that day and to come back tomorrow and it would be on 9am-2pm. I arrived the next day at 9 but it still wasn't on and there appeared to be noone around. After asking about it they eventually did a 5 min show for me at 9 30. I enjoyed this museum but I think they need to be better with communication around this as it is definitely the highlight of the museum.

Less exposition that I hoped there is, somewhat repetitive but still amazing and a must see. Amazing timed exhibition if you're planing to be there on 2025 vacation ITS A MUST SEE! amazing exhibition on burial looked in 1-3 BC. Truly amazing

Honestly the greatest surprise of the trip, complete gem! Beautiful artifacts, well presented, great building and a brilliant 5 minute demonstration on hand blown glass. This fish bottle pictured is one of only 3 intact in the world. Great value too

The permanent collection of ancient glass is interesting to see. It’s amazing to see the different shapes and techniques used in glassmaking back then. The guest exhibition "Memento Mori" was very interesting, especially learning about Roman burial practices from the 1st to 4th century AD. The museum also has glass making workshops for visitors, but unfortunately there were no workshops when I visited.

Beautiful museum of ancient glass that displays glass from from 1st century to modern day and also at the last four there is a glass worker name named Marko who does live glass work!!

Borik Beach, situated just outside Zadar city center, is part of the Falkensteiner hotel complex and requires a fee for entry. It's an ideal spot for families with its shallow bay and sandy bottom. The beach offers various activities for kids including pools and slides. Kolovare Beach, a 10-minute walk from the city center, features pebbly shores shaded by a forest. Visitors can enjoy amenities like change rooms, beach chairs, and an ice cream shop.
Long, shallow beach. The water gets shoulder deep for an adult about 100-150m out from shore. Clear water (not as clear as some, but more clear than many). Parking is €20 if you choose hotel parking, or you can park farther away and walk. We brought our own umbrella and chairs. There are some to rent, but I’m not sure how much the cost. Showers and changing area available. The local restaurant is good and great prices. Would recommend to anyone in Zadar.
Linc C — Google review
Nice beach, next to the sea. The rocks are not so sharp with a aquashoes but a little slippery. The floor does not lower continually due to the rock on it. Sometimes it is deeper sometimes it is higher. In my opinion this is a place is for those who can swim safely. Sometimes fishes swim under your legs, giving a whole different vibe. The sunset is amazing, and in the morning a swim in the salty water hits different. Not to mention, it is free, you just have to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas, but these are optional.
Nemes I — Google review
The water here is delightful, reminiscent of the many beautiful spots near Zadar. However, our initial experience was a bit challenging as we struggled to locate a parking spot on the map. After arriving, we found a perfectly located parking lot near the beach, although I don't know how the roads are on the way there since we parked in town and walked. What's more, there is ample space for beach-goers to sit and relax. Adding to the convenience, showers are also available at no extra cost.

Nice beach with beautiful view.
Deniss — Google review
We arrived last Wednesday (27.08.2025) at the beaches parking spot around 15:00 CET and still had to pay the fixed parking fee of 20 EUR for the whole day. Indeed, you can look for a different parking spot, etc. but with three kids in a car looking for something nearby, etc squeezes you into a bad position. Overall this confirms the general impression, that croatian holidays trying to get the most out of you. Agree, as long as people are paying it, it works, so the rather the question, if croatia will be a destination for me in the future. Beach itself is rather under average, nothing too special and the sandy area has rather the smell of water which was standing too long...

Our favourite beach in zadar! This was a family oriented beach on my understanding, plenty of stretch beds for a low cost for the entire day! Jetskis were well kept and nice to ride! There is a bar beside it with drinks and food, fair prices and the boys working there did a great job, I never tip and ended up tipping a few times cause they deserved it (except the young girl, I hope she was just going through a bad phase we all do, but you can't ignore clients and treat them like you are al capone back on his day) The negative side to this was the constant badgering of the smoke even inside the bar which should be forbidden by law! Nice warm and clean water! No obnoxious teens around.
Celso H — Google review
Showers and changing cabins available here, beach bar.
Rugilė M — Google review
It was great to lie on the wooden pier and listen to the waves lapping underneath. Clean waters, fresh water showers were a bonus. 15Hrk entry fee per person when we visited. A nice place but very crowded around the restaurants and service areas. Better and quieter if you move further away. Not all the facilities were working. A small kids pool was out of order. Possible to rent jet skis, SUP etc.

Market Zadar, situated in the heart of Zadar Old Town, is a vibrant outdoor market offering an array of fresh fruits, vegetables, local olive oil, and cheese. It's not just a place to shop for food; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture. The bustling market provides a sense of community where locals gather to socialize and enjoy coffee or drinks at nearby establishments.
Friendly vendors. Amazing fresh produce, seafood, and meats, among other things. This is how to eat well, save money, and enjoy life!

Very nice place! In May 2025, strawberries were €3-4 for 1/2 kg, and cherries were €6-10 for 1 kg. Parsley, for example, cost only €0.50. You can also buy goat cheese, fish, meat, and flowers. The market operates from 7 in the morning.
Kateryna V — Google review
Amazing market for fresh fruits and vegetables. Also a perfect place to purchase local olive oil.
Tony F — Google review
Authentic local market with fresh fish and seasonal product’s. If you’re in Zadar’s Old Town and want to experience local life, the Zadarmarkt is a must-visit. The market is divided into two main sections: a fish market with the day’s fresh catch and an open-air fruit and vegetable market with local produce from the surrounding region. The fish market is indoors and impressively clean. You’ll find a wide range of Adriatic fish – from sea bream and sardines to squid, tuna, and even shellfish. Most of it is caught the same morning, and prices are very fair. The vendors are friendly and happy to give tips on how to cook the fish Croatian-style. Outside, the vegetable and fruit stalls are full of seasonal colors and smells – ripe tomatoes, figs, olives, garlic braids, fresh herbs, and homemade products like olive oil, cheeses, and dried fruits. Everything here feels authentic and vibrant. You can also find local honey, rakija (fruit brandy), wine, and natural juices – often made by the vendors themselves or their families. These make perfect souvenirs or gifts. It’s best to go early in the morning when it’s freshest and least crowded. Great place for foodies, home cooks, or anyone looking to taste real Dalmatia.
Fabrice — Google review
Good and authentic market! Great selection of fish products with high-quality and fresh fish and seafood, good selection of vegetables and fruits. But no meat products and few dairy products... Anyway I highly recommend for visit this market 👌🏻

Fruit is good but be careful with scales and olive oil. It’s diluted and if tourist you will be a target. I found one local and bio certified one. You can also ask to see the recent chemical analysis from the owners. It’s a 10min drive. Check the video.

Nestled in the heart of Zadar's Old Town, Queen Jelena Madijevka Park is a serene 19th-century public park built on the city's old fortifications. Named after a significant Croatian queen, this green oasis offers shaded promenades, native flora and fauna, and an outdoor cafe that transforms into a nightclub at night.
A beautiful old park at the entrance of Zadar with a great variety of plants and trees and a maze of little paths: you can even find ancient statues in some of its corners.

A beautiful park of a queen above the main gates to Old Zadar. Kinda botanical garden, some trees have signs. A cooler part of town during the hot days under the shades of trees.

The Park of Queen Jelena Madijevka is a 19th-century park in the south-eastern part of Zadar's old town. From the Square of Five Wells you have to climb a few steps to get in. The park is quite beautiful and it is relaxing and quiet.
Mat B — Google review
A very small park. Once the city’s “balcony,” it now feels a bit neglected — some renovation would be nice.
Roman P — Google review
We really enjoyed the Queen Jelena Madijevka Park. We it is fairly large, with several trails and a stone staircases to access a raised center portion. The park is filled with flowering trees and small areas to explore. The views of the five-wells park adjacent to it and of the city wall and gate are really worth a visit to the park.

Nice park in the middle of the city. It's on the casle wall. You can rest here, take good photos, walk with your partner or with your doggie. There are very good restaurants nearby. Definitely worth to visit in any season. There are many parking options in the area.

What I enjoyed about this place is that they blended the old town with hints of our today. So the structure and spaces were restored and used for shopping or hang out spots. It is also quite a relaxing and cool walk meandering through the alleys

Very spacious and comfortable to be in. There is food and drinks, but for a cost. The light is not the best since it is mostly fluorescent green light and not enough windows for daylight to come in. Thats why skin tones look bad, for doing low light and event photography. I had to photograph an event and was not pleased with that. The ceiling is very high and using my flash was useless. Hope they fix that with CRI light bulbs.

Visiting Old Town Zadar is a delightful experience as the area's streets are mostly car-free, making it perfect for leisurely walks. The historical landmarks are conveniently close to each other, allowing visitors to easily explore the narrow charming streets and squares on foot.
Zadar old town is the place to be ! (Besides the beach of course) if you've been to rothebburn Germany it has the same feels. It's a quaint historic town, very clean and fun to walk around. You can spend a good 3 hours here. Enjoy the coast and sea organ, the musicians on the steps, the shops and churches. So much roman history here. Can feel a little crowded during summer and high noon, but overall great place to be. Just a fun place to visit if you want to just hangout and "vibe" Public restrooms available around too!
T E — Google review
Great place to visit, once you've crossed the bridge from the new town, you enter a walled town that is steeped in history, lovely small streets running throughout, like a maze and brings you out to something new, lined with small shops, restaurants, historic buildings, street markets & brilliant harbour walk. You can easily spend all day and still not seen everything, the museum & gardens is a must to visit.
Smithy — Google review
Lovely but touristy from all the cruise ships that stop off here, usuall white stone paved streets but still busy in late September. Able to find decently priced take away foods. Has local shops for groceries etc. Didn't go into any heritage buildings, just walked around. Must see (and hear) the sea organ near to the cruise ship dock
Rory H — Google review
Zadar’s Old Town is a vibrant and lively area set right on the seafront, blending history, culture, and a true holiday atmosphere. The narrow streets are lined with historic buildings, charming churches, and beautiful squares shaded by trees — perfect for a mid-day break. There’s no shortage of places to eat or drink, with plenty of restaurants, cafés, gelato spots, and bars scattered throughout. The area is full of life, with tourists, young people, and street performers adding to the energy. While it can feel a bit crowded at times, especially in peak season, the mix of sea views, historic charm, and buzzing atmosphere makes it a place you’ll want to return to again and again.
Horia S — Google review
Lots of shops and restaurants, historical buildings near the water are a short walk from the front gate. Everything was clean and beautiful. Would love to visit again soon
Rachel — Google review
We really enjoyed our time in Old Town Zadar. It’s a beautiful mix of history, seaside atmosphere, and relaxed Mediterranean life. The narrow stone streets, old buildings, and small squares give the place a lot of charm without feeling too crowded or touristy. There’s plenty to see — the Roman Forum, St. Donatus Church, and the Bell Tower are all worth a visit. But what makes Zadar special is the combination of history and modern art. The Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun on the waterfront are simple but fascinating — you can just sit there, listen to the sound of the sea, and watch the sunset. We also liked how easy it was to find good food. There are lots of small restaurants and cafés serving local dishes and fresh seafood, all at fair prices. Overall, Old Town Zadar feels authentic and easygoing — a great place to wander, have a coffee by the sea, and just enjoy the atmosphere.
KRUX — Google review
Beautiful old town with lots of side streets to wander around, a great variety of shops, bars and restaurants as well as churches, monuments and roman ruins. We wandered round for a few hours taking regular breaks in various bars and for ice creams. The streets are stone glass but very smooth and easy even for people in wheelchairs/mobility scooters although there are some drainage channels to watch for and many shops/restaurants have no level access doe to building age.
Lisa H — Google review
Old Town Zadar is fantastic. It's a unique blend of old and new. While it's man-made, the Sea Organ moved me to tears. In town you can walk among the archeological sites, shop for souvenirs from street vendors, and wander the endless alleys of unique little shops and cafes. Old Town is clean and the people are friendly if you strike up a conversation. I was able to try pasticada (that I wasn't able to find in my day in Dubrovnik) at a lovely quiet, peaceful little restaurant. There are also plenty of shops where you can get modern clothes and whatever other supplies/sundries you may need. If you get a chance, go see Arsen, a wonderful man who makes custom name jewelry on the street - a wonderful guy (who recommended the restaurant I went to!)
