Restaurant
Exquisite Express is a beloved Caribbean eatery in Brooklyn, known for its cozy storefront and delicious island flavors. The jerk and BBQ chicken come highly recommended, while the salmon plate and various side items are also popular choices. Despite the price increase since 2020, customers are happy to pay for the quality they receive. The large combo plate of lamb curry and oxtail is a generous portion that can easily feed two people.
Tasty jerk chicken, depending on who cutting your jerk chicken nd who is packing they will give you more. We usually get only jerk chicken and either half or a whole. Their salad is tasty bc the veggies are crunchy nd not overcooked.

This by far was the best oxtail with rice and peas & plantains i’ve ever had!! I got the full size plate for $20. It was delicious!
Hanna B — Google review
You got to give it to them! They know how to do grill chicken, either BBQ or Jerk. It's a tight squeeze, when it's busy. Upon entering, it's hard to tell whose picking up their order verses whose paying. The food is great but they need a cleaning team in there overnight, because you can seen dust on the HVAC vents. The staff try to move as fast as possible but the space behind the counter is limited so you have to be patient with them.
Mr. S — Google review
Decent food but its just ok. Shitty service and very slow.
Sezgin T — Google review
First time going there. Really enjoyed the food. Portions were great. Only one concern..."fix your face", people are spending money there!
Pastor W — Google review
Best Jamaican food in Brooklyn. Come on busy evenings when chicken is fresh off the grill. But there is only one grill master who knows how to make the chicken. Make sure to only go on days he is there. Do not forget to get the jerk sauce. The chicken is perfected with it.
C.P. O — Google review
I have eaten at exquisite in the past and the jerk chicken was excellent, but it seems that the flavor has changed and it’s not the same as it used to be. Unfortunately, I will not be making a trip back to this restaurant.

Caribbean restaurant
Restaurant
Peppa's Jerk Chicken Restaurant is a modest counter-serve eatery located in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn. It has gained recognition for its vinegar-washed, intensely spicy jerk chicken, which is grilled and served in large quantities to take-out customers daily. The restaurant also offers other Caribbean comfort foods such as curry goat and escovitch fish. Originally a spinoff of Danny's and Pepper's, Peppa decided to open his own establishment about a decade ago.
Peppa’s Jerk Chicken is always my go-to for Jamaican food, and they never disappoint — but I had to leave a review after my most recent order of jerk pork with a side of festivals. As someone who truly loves jerk pork, I can tell you it’s hard to find authentic, flavorful jerk pork in Brooklyn, but Peppa’s consistently gets it right. The pork was tender, juicy, and packed with that bold, smoky jerk flavor that keeps me coming back. I got both jerk and BBQ sauce on the side, and while both were delicious, the pork honestly didn’t need anything extra, it stood on its own. The festivals were perfectly cooked … golden, slightly sweet, and soft on the inside, the perfect balance to the heat of the pork. And I have to shout out Italia for her amazing customer service! She’s always warm, welcoming, and makes the experience even better. You can tell she cares about the customers and takes pride in what she does. Peppa’s is my top spot in Brooklyn for real Jamaican flavor. Highly recommend!
Shanae C — Google review
This was my first visit to Pepas. First let me start by saying the staff was friendly and welcoming however the kiosk to order the food with a credit card wasn’t working properly and took much longer then it would have been had we just been able to order with a human. The food itself was by far the worst Jamaican food I’ve had to date. We ordered the jerk chicken and “jerk” was far from what it was. There was absolutely no flavor in the chicken and it was extremely dry. Little to no seasoning. It tasted more like dry grilled chicken at best. We also ordered the jerk pork which was terrible. The pork again had no flavor and really just tasted like boiled pork. I watched them scoop the pork out of a liquid broth so I knew right then it wasn’t grilled. I’ve been to Jamaica before and jerk pork should be made on the grill with a ton of seasoning when done properly. Here are a few photos I took when I got home.
Regina S — Google review
Festivals were good! No sauce in our bags! Except the little one we paid for! Paid for extra spicy sauce. Didn’t even give us regular sauce after they asked us if we wanted it on the side. Soggy oily fries!!! Big turn off Cabbage was ok. Barely any taste! No extravagant flavor!
Ashley L — Google review
The food is really good. The rice and peas tastes good and the chicken was well seasoned and had great flavors. I ordered on Ubereats
Yanoue Q — Google review
I don’t know why my review won’t come up, but I’m putting it in again. The peas and rice were terrible had no flavor., We were missing one order of macaroni salad, I ordered shrimp and all I got was is dried up fish. The jerk chicken was all bones.
Roy A — Google review
Wow! I ordered Jerk Chicken and Jerk Pork. The meat was moist and falling off the bone. The spices are on point. The jerk sauce on the side was so spicy, not too sweet, just perfect. Can’t speak to the sides though. I’ve tried a lot of places in the area and Peppa’s is by far the best! And delivery was crazy fast!
Joseph S — Google review
——- Here is what to expect: * Small Jerk chicken (one and a half chicken bottoms cut up) with hefty portion of rice & peas & scoop of salad $13.00 Feb 2023 price) The staff won’t welcome you. They won’t smile, and they won’t really know who is next unless you posture yourself with confidence. People will probably cut you in line and the staff don’t actually care. You won’t receive customer service. You won’t hear a thank you come again, and you won’t be asked “would you like something else”. You must be quick with what you’re asking for, and you may feel uneasy. There is a friendlier atmosphere in a graveyard. ……………………. HOWEVER!!!…….. After coming here for 9 years, I can confidently say that your JERK CHICKEN will be worth the discomfort. It is in my opinion the best jerk chicken in Brooklyn.
B. S — Google review
I’ve ordered from this location many times over the years. Today I ordered the jerk chicken meal with fresh salad and rice and peas. They gave me macaroni salad instead which wasn’t what I wanted. However the real problem was that my chicken was under cooked. The chicken was pale and when I tried to bite into it it was tough. I finally tore into it and see the center is red. Super disappointing as I used to love this restaurant. Now I’m still hungry and hope I won’t get food poisoning.

Bakery
Errol's Caribbean Delights is a charming bakery and café that captures the essence of Caribbean cuisine. Nestled in Little Caribbean, it’s a must-visit for anyone craving authentic flavors. Their menu features an array of delicious offerings, from flaky patties and coco bread to hearty jerk chicken and tender oxtails. A personal favorite is the flavorful chicken soup, especially when enhanced with scotch bonnet peppers for that extra kick.
ordered the curry goat after some stumbling with the menu - there aren't labels describing what everything is, so i had to ask the person at the counter to help me with the names of all the dishes. ultimately happy with my order as i barely had any bones with my proteins and the curry was seasoned very well. my only ding would be that the rice and peas didn't taste much like anything, but that might have been because the curry was that much more flavorful. there is indoor seating!
Christine K — Google review
Outstanding pastries and cakes. Lovely staff. Inside is just plain tables and fluorescent lights. But go for the grub.

Bought a fish soup that was half oil half water which tasted like water. I called to inform them that the soup was watery & no good & the woman who answered just said I’m sorry. After the soup sat for 3 hours after a nap. I went back to it & saw a third of it had oil sitting on the top. that was surprising because soup usually doesn’t have oil sitting so heavily. upon calling back to let them know this & wanting to bring it to show them, I was met with disrespect saying once I walk out with food there is no return on it. I’m said, “even if the food being served is no good?“ I was expecting a level of curiosity atleast from them to say bring it let me see or something. Instead she said … “once you walk out that it’s. & u called from this morning So either way u can’t bring it back. We don’t accept food back! So I was expected to go drink oily watery soup. Then once I said the Soup was oily she responded. It’s salmon and it’s tea not soup which clearly the menu said fish soup . I bought the soup around 11 am shouldn’t go bad by 3 pm. I would advice to not to buy food from here if your looking for quality food & service. If you’re into watery and oily soup, this is the place to go.

Ordered oxtails. Oxtails were lean, nice with a VERY LOW percentage of fat. My server was Excellent, dynamic customer service. I actually returned the following day and repeated my order

They have the best patties, carrot juice and porridge. The cod fish cakes are always missing the cod fish. There's nothing in them but onions and I tried them on 3 different occasions. There's nothing but onions and dough in them.
Ssbrina H — Google review
This is my first time coming to this place but it was great. Initially I was just looking for something sweet and the cheesecake winked at me. It was delicious and a good portion size to share with someone. I good what I call a salmon empanada but I’m sure that’s not the proper name, I just can’t remember what was it. I’ll be trying out more of their offer in the future. They also have contactless pay what makes it convenient and safe for everyone.

This def used to be my spot last year. Went in today to cheat myself and completely wasted the $35 I spent. Whoever made the food today needs to never enter the kitchen. Everything tasted burnt, everything. Smh, such a waste

Miss Lily's 7A Cafe is a vibrant Caribbean eatery in the heart of New York City, offering island-inspired cocktails and a menu filled with Caribbean delicacies. The bright and colorful space exudes a beach-shack vibe, creating an inviting atmosphere for diners. The restaurant serves up classic dishes with a modern twist, such as Jamaican rancheros, jerk pork-belly hash, oxtail stew, fried chicken and waffles, and jerk chicken roti.
Miss Lily’s never misses! The vibes are always on point great music, fun atmosphere, and the food? Chef’s kiss. The jerk chicken and oxtail are packed with flavor, and the cocktails are just as amazing. Staff is friendly and the energy is unmatched. If you’re looking for a spot with authentic Caribbean flavor and a good time, Miss Lily’s is it. Highly recommend!

Good place to eat get a city island vibe. Customer service is always great. A incident happened but there was great and swift service recovery and I appreciated that very much.

The BEST meal I had during my last visit to NY! I had the pleasure of dinning at this gem during restaurant week! Everything about it is a win! Let’s first start with the amazing service! Every staff was friendly and provided recommendable service from the moment we walked in! The ambiance : they have a corner spot so it’s perfect for those that like to enjoy a meal outside. The patio area is cute as is the indoor area. Think bright colors and carribean vibes! Now for the food- simply put, I was blown away! Admittedly I was not expecting much from this spot, but boy was I wrong!! I started with a watermelon salad and ordered the jerk chicken with veggies as my main meal! Now I know you are thinking what can be so special about a watermelon salad? It was just good! I appreciated every ingredient included ! It was very refreshing. My favorite part of the meal was the jerk chicken. Hands down the BEST jerk chicken I have ever had! It is tender and full of flavor !! When I say I finished this meal and left no crumbs it was that good!!! My sister had the jerk mushroom lettuce wraps. Her entree was the friend snapper and to end it off she had rum cake! I have to admit I enjoyed my meal more ! However her food was good too! I really enjoyed the aioli sauce that accompanied the fish entree. NOTE: for restaurant week you can opt to order off the restaurant week menu. It is 3 courses for $45! The only item I would not order again is the rum cake! It was not your traditional Caribbean rum cake. It is more of a white cake with coconut flavors. I could not taste the rum. While the cake was moist and generally a good cake/ it was just not what I expected for rum cake. To sum everything up, you MUST visit Ms. Lilly’s!! It’s 10’s across the board for me ! I will be stopping by the next time I am in the city? There is so much I want to try!

I’ve visited for brunch before, but I’d always wanted to experience dinner here—and during Restaurant Week, it did not disappoint. The thoughtfully designed décor and inviting ambiance set the perfect tone for our meal. We dined later in the evening, which gave the space a calm, relaxed energy, complemented by the smooth sounds of old-school reggae playing in the background. The cocktails were both strong and well-crafted, adding a nice touch to the evening. I wouldn’t recommend this spot for parties larger than four indoors, as the space is more intimate. The outdoor seating can accommodate groups up to six, though it did appear a bit snug. If you’re craving authentic Jamaican cuisine, this is a must-visit. According to my partner—who may be slightly biased as a proud Jamaican—it’s home to the best jerk chicken in all five boroughs.
Mekayah L — Google review
Miss Lily’s is one of the most consistent Jamaican restaurants you’ll find in Manhattan. Everything on the menu is always available which is rare for a Jamaican spot! The food is very good, and you can tell they take pride in maintaining quality. The aki and saltfish leans more on the saltfish side they’re not too heavy on the aki but it’s still delicious and well-seasoned. The roti is always soft and fresh, which is a big plus. The decor really captures the vibe of a bar straight out of Jamaica colorful, lively, and full of energy. On weekends, there’s usually a live DJ playing great dancehall and reggae, adding to the island feel. Overall, Miss Lily’s delivers both in atmosphere and flavor a must-visit if you want a true taste of Jamaica in NYC. 🇯🇲🔥

Came for the restaurant week brunch. Excellent ambiance, DJ/music, food/drinks, and service! I enjoyed a three-course meal — Codfish fritters, Jamaican breakfast, and coconut cream rum cake. I drank a rum punch. Everything was flavorful! Definitely returning for brunch and other dining times.
Adrienne E — Google review
I can’t say enough good things about the good eats, service by our waitress Bri, and atmosphere at Lily’s Restaurant. As a person that has to eat gluten free foods, I was pleasantly surprised to find several GF options on the menu! They were all YUMMY!!! They even have a chocolate GF dessert option that was rich and plantain based! I can’t wait to go back there. Great experience!
Kiki S — Google review
Food here is excellent. I had the oxtail and loved it. We didn’t realize they have a DJ for brunch so was not prepared for the noise lol. Their frozen drink machine also wasn’t fully operational yet, which was unfortunate because I wanted a frozen drink. Food is pricey, but this is a solid choice for Jamaican food.

Restaurant
The Food Sermon is a modern counter-serve eatery that specializes in customizable rice bowls with Caribbean flavors. The menu offers four protein options, two sauces, and choices of rice and beans. Whether you're a meat lover or a vegetarian, there's something for everyone. The chef, Rawlston Williams, trained at the French Culinary Institute and takes a nontraditional approach to the West Indian staple roti. The restaurant's sleek and stylish ambiance adds to the dining experience.
The young lady who served us was so genuinely nice and hospitable, it was the key to our enjoyment of the meal. There's two large picnic type tables and benches, and one or two smaller tables off to the side, but it is a very small place. Myself and my special lady friend were the only ones in there. We went across the street to the bodega and got a large red stripe to share while our food was prepared. The immediate neighborhood is tucked away and quiet; we were nicely unrushed and comfortable. I got the lamb with coconut ginger sauce and my companion got the salmon with spicy tomato sauce. The tomato option isn't bad, but i strongly recommend the coconut ginger instead. The prices are fairly high, but there is a lot of food, and I don't know where else you can find something quite like this. Also I really liked their bowls; they are large and shaped more like a cake pan, with no slope so you can corner the food easier without it slipping out. Oh yea, we also got the kale on the side which was perfect mixed in with the food. Let me know how the jerk chicken is, I want to try it but that lamb was special, don't know if I'd pass it up next time.

A pleasant experience and a must to try again. The food is AMAZING. I ordered the Jerk Chicken in Coconut Ginger with Brown Rice and Red Kidney beans with Kale. From the first bite I was in heaven. Caribbean food recreated into something even more extraordinary. Sit down and grab a bite.

My girlfriend and I were famished coming out of the Brooklyn Botanical garden, and checked online for a good place to eat. This was about 10 minutes away walking, and we found it easily on the corner. The place was clean, with local artwork. The menu was super simple, we picked our meat (I got jerk chicken, my girlfriend lamb) with chickpeas, brown rice, and the coconut curry sauce. The owner was super personable and nice, told me that the food was from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and a little background! Really great owner. When I tell you this food was incredible, it's beyond description. I've had a lot of Caribbean food, even in Barbados, and this was some of the best ever. Seriously! The jerk chicken and everything else was so full of flavor, and I even tasted my girlfriend's lamb -- amazing. The homemade tamarind-based hot sauce was also out-of-this-world. Incredible gem. Overall, very clean, very simple -- very good. Just go dude.
Vemir — Google review
Fantastic! Food was amazing. The bottled hot sauce was so good we bought a bottle to take home. Service was very friendly and welcoming. We shared a lamb with coconut ginger sauce and a chicken with the red sauce. Beware, the red sauce is HOT! (But good!) I would highly recommend.
Kate K — Google review
I can’t say enough good things about this place. The menu was straight forward and easy to order from, the vibe is like an island beach house, and the food... the food was so, so good. The coconut curry was sweet and creamy and the spicy tomato sauce makes your soul happy (and your forehead a little sweaty!). The chicken, rice, and beans, were all flavorful and simply seasoned, lending themselves to the complex and rich sauces. The last thing I’ll say is that you should take some time to really chat with the two brothers who own the place. The stories they have and the sincerity they tell them with is wonderful. It was a great experience and I will be back, without a doubt.

Fisherman's Cove is a vibrant eatery that has been delighting Brooklyn's food lovers with its authentic Jamaican flavors since 2000. Known for its mouthwatering jerk chicken, oxtails, and comforting baked mac & cheese, this bustling spot offers a taste of the Caribbean right in the heart of the city. The restaurant was founded by Kirk Gibson, who recognized the demand for genuine Jamaican cuisine in an area rich with Caribbean culture.
Chicken is nicely cooked all the way through even into the thigh, falls off the bone easily. A variety of gravies and sauces are available if you want additional flavor. Pretty fair for the price. This is for the Nostrand and Flatbush location if anyone is wondering. Staff were friendly.

Poor product quality. On Saturday January 11, 2025 I bought a patty from the location at Flatbush Junction.. I noticed that one side of the patty was burn ( BUN UP BAD) . I ask the cashier to exchange the patty. The cashier told me that all the patties are of that quality. I then requested a refund. The cashier then call her manager to do the refund.. eventually the manager came and they were able to find one cold patty that was not badly burnt, after searching through over 20 patties. SMH .. They exchange the patty and didn’t even apologize.. SMH I could go on and on talking about this patty but instead I will attached a pic of the patty and my proof of purchase.

Just look at the so call soup thick gooey that will have chocking trying to swallow, just say you out soup, plantain half green and tough and the fish was small fine looking like little goldfish but never seen porgie so small but. But am more upset about the soup because I was hungry second time I have been severed soup that went to the trash. I always buy soup from fisherman because they actually have the best soup no other placed i ever try came close to them but lately food is not worth it any more.
Madison S — Google review
Not fresh and rubbery chicken. I purchased my food on Uber eats. They took forever to prepare it. Different delivery individuals showed up, just to turn away because the food took so long. And when the food arrived, it was drenched in oxtail gravy and white beans, although I ordered jerk chicken, rice & salad. The chicken was so rubbery it was so disgusting to chew. Only thing that was fresh and somewhat decent was the salad. Or lack there was. Never getting my business again. When people order food, make sure you send them fresh food. Because you know you wouldn’t want people giving you old, nasty food. So why m give it to customers.
Kenya — Google review
Currently on holiday in New York and remembered eating here during my last visit. So we revisited yesterday. Service was a bit abrupt from the lady who took the order. Typical New York Jamaican style I guess. We ordered two lots of Jerk Chicken and two lots of Oxtail medium meals. Prices were a lot higher than in the UK. Just over $60 for the food. In general it tasted good. The jerk chicken isn't done over charcoal like back in London, but the gas grill does a good enough job. However there was nowhere near enough sauce on the Oxtail meals. That seems to be a running theme in a lot of the comments. Also the Oxtails themselves are cut quite small so are around half the size that I would get from a UK West Indian takeaway meal. It's a real shame that they seem to be intent on giving small portions of everything except for the rice, because the food is really flavourful. It's 50/50 on whether I'll eat here again when I'm back in New York in the future. The price just didn't reflect the quality and quantity.
Mark K — Google review
The only thing I like ike about this resturant is that they have a special for the snapper that only cost me about 13 dollars for a medium. What I notice however is that theres no real different between a large food and a medium food. The portion is the same. They hardly give your rice but I guess your only actually paying for the meat. The food is okay but everytime I buy the snapper dinner theres a different taste in the beginning it was actually good now it isn't. Theres always a line and the servers are a little slow.
Saskia — Google review
This one of the few Jamaican restaurant that have provided a consistent tasting food and provide delivery services. The four star is because the Mac & cheese needs work. If you are ever in the area, stop in dine in or take out. The place is usually so busy at the junction, but the staff is very efficient.🤤🇯🇲🤤🇯🇲🤤🇯🇲🤤🇯🇲
Mr. S — Google review
The wait isn’t great because they’re understaffed, the ladies Over there make you feel unwelcomed, like they’re bothered you came in to buy. The gentleman are nicer , they’re quick and helpful. I rarely go to a lot West Indian restaurants because it’s the same thing.. What added to my frustration was the fact that my plantain was uncooked on the inside… it was gross. I bit into it only to find the inside raw. Imagine goin into a store where you don’t feel welcomed , buying their food and part of it is Uncooked. I threw it away because I was annoyed. I wasn’t going to waste any more time going back… I waited long enough for the food could you imagine the wait to correct this issue and the attitude I would’ve gotten. I just took a pic of it and threw it away.

A cozy, brightly-colored Caribbean restaurant with curries and other regional dishes. It's located in part of Crown Heights that's in the "made up neighborhood name" stage of gentrification, and it's budget-friendly. The menu features classics like jerk chicken as well as lesser-scene offerings like pepper shrimp.
This is an amazing spot !! Everything was on point , the waitress was extra welcoming, the drinks were great and the food topped it of . Everything tasted amazing , I was extremely surprised. We were seated in the perfect spot where we could see the food being cooked and just then when you think it couldn’t get any better they bring you that awesome coconut brown sugar ice cream to end of that wonderful meal !! It was perfect . Definitely will be coming back here

Food here is amazing!!! Passionfruit is my favorite fruit and the drink menu has a few passionfruit infused drinks that go perfectly with the dish options. Whether you're looking for jerk, curry or Caribbean brunch dishes, Glady's is the place for you. The color scheme along with the layout and design are complimented by a fresh to death music selection. Everytime I've been here, brunch or otherwise, food and drink plus the music have always hit the spot

Super chill happy hour with excellent jerk chicken wings, boy choy side, shot and beer (Red Stripe) special, and friendly service eating at the bar. Cool flavors on the menu, pretty popular spot for dinner, fun cocktails. Easy to be enveloped in a bustling, dark atmosphere with thumpin music, good beats, and smiles.

Atmosphere was nice, staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. Everything was on point even down to the shot of rum and the coconut icecream for dessert was an added touch. Would definitely recommend this place e to my friends

Very comfortable place to relax and enjoy a meal with the family ! The service was prompt and courteous. The food was delicious and spiced just right ! Just enough spice to leave a nice tingle in your mouth, without burning. The house Punch is to die for !

Where do I begin... The pain killer...drink beautifully put together with painapple and nutmeg...if they served drinks in heaven I hope this is the one. As for food I’ve gone from the top to bottom and I have yet to find a favorite. Overall great place near my parents house and always a great place to grab a drink and food before a night out. Highly recommended and can get packed fast

Always Amazing! The spicy slaw is so flavorful! They bring you a scoop of the best homemade coconut ice cream with the check, not overly sweet. Keep in mind this is communal seating and can be pretty tight at times, not to mention long waits during busy times

For my actual Carribean people i dont think this restaurant will interest your tastes at all. Jerk Chicken/wings are tasteless and the Breaded Chicken or whatever you want to call taste the same like all the other chicken. The chow mein is just pure salt. Their drinks are the best thing out of all the food they had.

Sally Roots is a laid-back spot that serves up Caribbean dishes and a variety of rum cocktails and frozen drinks. The restaurant features a chic space with touches of greenery, as well as a backyard patio for casual hangouts. It's known for its incredible food, including smoky wood oven-flavored rice, chicken, sweet potato cubes, fried plantains, and an array of flavorful cocktails. The service is top-notch with an automatic 20% gratuity applied to each bill.
I fell in love the first time I came to NY, it is only right that I come back again! The food is top notch and the frozen drinks are just what the doctor ordered! (Not pictured : Conch Fritters & Grilled Shrimp are listed under small plates)

I really wanted to love this place. But, I didn't. :( The jerk chicken had smokey flavor, but wasn't done in my opinion. The rice was on the dry side. I wasn't a fan of their tostones. My friend did not enjoy her crab-fried rice. :(
Andrea G — Google review
The ambiance, music, the drinks, the food, all were so delish. Their specialty drink "Benevolence, Benevolence" was super amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant. I wish it weren't so windy and cold during my visit. Otherwise, I would have dined in their yard...such a unique setup.

Went for a weeknight dinner and was very impressed by the food. I ordered the oxtail and dumplings. It was phenomenal. Don’t forget a side of their iconic garlic sauce! The service and environment were both very pleasant. The cocktails were higher quality than I anticipated, as well. I highly recommend their take on a passionfruit mojito.

Great brunch! Our server was a little rude, but was very tentative, so they get an A+ in my book. Really cool vibes with light reggae music playing. Great spot if you're trying to have a nice chill brunch.
Stephen — Google review
I was here back in April of 2018 which was a different era, right? First, the food was incredible! I remember the rice having a smokey, wood oven flavor and I couldn't figure out how this was somehow infused like that. I had chicken, sweet potatoes cubes, I think some fried plantains, and some shots of alcohol. I will say that the music was too loud only because I came to NY to meet friends and I really wanted to fully hear them. This was a very special day and the server made it even more so. He took several photos for us and to be honest, I think he took a shot with us! The vibe of this place cannot be beat. They were opened late too but we don't live in the city so perhaps this isn't the case for locals. To me, it was late! Jamaican food is difficult to find outside of a city so please enjoy it when you can. I loved this place and I had a wonderful experience.

Sally Roots service was great, and willing to help make the experience here awesome. For example, I did not like my first selection of the menu. I spoke with my waitress about it, she asked if I would like something else. Which I did, and my second selection off the menu was a lot better. My wife's meal, was lacking in the flavor department. To our surprise, the chef came to our table and asked if she liked her meal. My wife proceeded to tell the chef, that it was lacking in flavor. The chef asked my wife, if he could remake her meal. She said yes, and when the meal came back it was rather delicious. All in all, this is a cool spot to enjoy some food with some good company.

Seriously incredible service that is well-deserving of the automatic 20% gratuity applied to each bill! Their outdoor garden area is lovely too. We tried the Oasis mocktails, Caribbean tatertots, fried sweet plantains with a side of garlic sauce, and mufongo (one vegan and one with duck.) flavors were great, food came out quickly too! There are definitely a few vegan and vegetarian options on the menu I’d like to try next time.

CJ Cafe Flatbush is a must-visit for anyone craving spicy jerk chicken that packs a flavorful punch. Just a few blocks south of the park, this cozy spot serves up juicy chicken infused with a delightful dry rub of vinegar, chili pepper, and garlic. The atmosphere is welcoming, albeit slightly tight on space, making it perfect for an intimate dining experience. Patrons rave about the rasta pasta paired with oxtails—a delicious combination that keeps them coming back for more.
The young lady that helped my MIL and myself was so kind to us, despite having dealt with a problematic customer right before placing our order. The restaurant looks pretty clean and there are a few tables to sit and dine if you wish to, however, the space is kind of tight inside. Their food is really good. Usually we'll get the rasta pasta with Oxtails (half and half with the pastas), and it is so delicious.

Food was good & as always the mac salad was good. I ordered the Jerk chicken meal. It’s more of 3.5 stars rather than 3 because I like all the pieces of my Jerk chicken chopped up and it wasn’t. I’m not a fan of big pieces of chicken and the drumstick was big, it would’ve been nice to have it chopped. Other than that the food was good. Next time I’ll be sure to ask them to chop all the pieces

Nestled in the heart of Flatbush, Brooklyn, Fisherman's Cove has been a beloved destination for over 25 years, especially for those who crave Caribbean-style seafood. This charming eatery is renowned for its expertly grilled and steamed lobster dishes that burst with flavor and are cooked to perfection. Whether you're dining in or opting for takeout, Fisherman's Cove consistently delivers a delightful culinary experience that keeps patrons coming back.
NYC gives you the option of choices when it comes to takeout food and usually I’d recommend fisherman’s Cove. After months, since my last unsatisfied visit and what seems like a change of staff. Fisherman's Cove have redeem itself. In the photo below, is the level of culinary🤯 experience you can't get just anywhere. The meat literally falls of the bone🤤🤤🤤. The staff stayed on task, no talking over the customers food, service is to five people or less and yes the place is clean. Look forward to going back for more. Duces 😉🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

The food is good & has always been good, but I'm only giving 3 stars because of those new damn containers that the lady put my food in, knowing I ordered curry goat. Why would you put that meal, In a container knowing damn well it's a paper container & the sauce will soak through. So what happened. I barely made it to work with my food in tact. I had to flip the container over to be able to eat properly. The company really needs to rethink the decision to use those particular containers. At least just use them with dry food, that won't soak through smh
Zentra D — Google review
The cashier is SUPER disrespectful. Customer service is ZERO.. this place will make u ask yourself "What just happened". Chicken tasted old, like leftovers from previous days. Can do better n staff needs to change their attitude. Super rude.
Henry B — Google review
Don’t bother coming here. Didn’t even try the food yet but I asked for an extra fork because I was sharing food with somebody. The worker at the register refused to give me an extra fork. I don’t understand why management would tell their workers not to give extra forks if a customer asks for one. I understand prices and costs are getting higher but giving an extra fork won’t kill your business. You guys have to figure it out if you want customers to return.
Youssef E — Google review
The jerk chicken was dry and underwhelming in taste. The cashier taking the orders is rude and impatient. The place looks run down and I doubt it can pass any health inspection.
Céline A — Google review
To start with the workers are rude, especially the cashier, bad attitude, and the food is bland and lacks taste, the worst Jerk Chicken I ever tasted was hard like it had been reheated repeatedly, and smelled like it came from the grocery to the counter, with no seasoning whatsoever.
Marsh — Google review
The food isn’t how it used to be every day my grandma used to go here for food for me and my sister but it slowly got worse over time
Brezee9000 — Google review
I was going to give 1 star but I'm giving 2 stars because of what the food used to be like. I purchased a large stew chicken from this place and it was horrible, the chicken had no flavor and the sauce was a ketchup oiled base sauce with no substance, normally I don't post negative about black owned business but I had to toss my food out so someone had to pay. I hope the owner sees this and step their game up.

Jamaican restaurant
Uncle Don's Kitchen is a delightful family-run eatery that brings the vibrant flavors of Jamaica to Hicksville. Founded by Patrick Walters, who envisioned this dream since he was just 19 in Kingston, the café has become a local favorite for its mouthwatering jerk chicken, cooked to perfection over an open flame and infused with aromatic spices.
Was in the mood for a beef patty this restaurant was the first choice google recommended. I must say the aroma from the restaurant alone will have you intoxicated. I was greeted by the staff that’s was very kind and helpful. The beef patty was flaky and very tasty the spices complemented the meat perfectly. This is my 2nd visit here still definitely will be returning

First time visiting this restaurant. The food was phenomenal. Tender, juicy, fall off the bone oxtails and a delicious peas and rice with extra gravy. The fried plantains were amazing. Mr. Don has a sweet hand. I would definitely go back again even though it's a hike from my house. It is a small place with one table inside. The service was lovely and quick.

UPDATE 2025 took my friend there and saw the lady from last time was there and was treated like family and she thank me for all the reviews from my videos and UNCO DON came out to tell us how he cook everything and give my friend some soup to try and some rasta pasta for me to try and after eating there at the end he give my friend a cup fresh made fruit juice!!! This is hands down a great family owned spot!!!

If it's one thing I appreciate from this place is the portions. Now a days it's hard to find good homemade type food for a decent price. But at Uncle Don's they don't skimp out. I love the sweet plantains. Rice and peas was a bit dry but the flavor is still there. Jerk chicken has flavor without overpowering everything else. The Spicy Beef Patty uff.. my favorite. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is a great establishment for this community. It brings good & delicious carribean food to this part of Long Island. I highly recommend this spot

Ordered a large dinner oxtail with goat curry + 1 beef patty. $48.00?!!! For bones and rice. I felt taken advantage of. We should have walked away before we paid…way overpriced. Won’t be back. 👎🏻 Should reconsider your prices in this economy before the doors close for good

Friendly and efficient service. Delicious oxtail, great rice and peas and sweet plantains. Also tried their fish escaviche which was a good deal but we didn't love it. The jerk wings had good flavor but were a bit salty. Still very tasty. We'll definitely be back for their oxtail!! Generous and delicious portions. Also eyed their red velvet cake, will try a slice next time.

Oxtail is so tender! Jerk Chicken is a little spicy. We loooove the steamed cabbage. Rice and Peas are delicious also. We will be going back! Skip to 2023. Oxtail still very tender! Cabbage was delicious but this time there were no carrots and such in them. This the place o would go to for oxtail. The spicy beef patty was awesome. A pinch of heat and very flaky!

All I can say is WOW!! The food is out of this world. Authentic Jamaican food it would leave asking for more! I ordered the stew chicken along with a chicken patty just to give a try, the chicken is perfectly cooked and tender, falling out of the bones. Great tasting food, will definitely come back and order a different dish from the menu, now that I know how tasty the food is. Not to mention, the young man who served me was very pleasant. Im glad I don’t have to all the way to Rockville Ctr for good Jamaican food, I must say, this one is rather tastier. So go on and try it, you won’t be disappointed, I know for sure I wasn’t 🙂

Been to The Foood Spot multiple times now, and they always deliver. Consistent, flavorful, and worth every bite. I am 100% Jamaican, born and raised! I was excited to support this restaurant, especially seeing so many positive reviews online. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the food. The rice was undercooked, and as you can see from the photo, the jerk chicken was burnt — not properly jerked at all. It looked more like it was just baked in the oven with seasoning, rather than grilled or smoked the authentic way. The seasoning was okay, but the texture of the chicken was off and poorly done. Based on what I tasted, I honestly don't believe there's a true Jamaican chef preparing the food. This place would be better off representing itself as general Caribbean cuisine — not Jamaican cuisine — if they aren't going to honor the authentic flavors and techniques of our culture. I was really hoping for better, but sadly, this didn't meet the standard.
Desmond G — Google review
The food was just OK. You can walk into most of Suffolk county Jamaican restaurants and get the same flavor but the portions of the oxtail was only six pieces three of them were half tiny pieces and three tiny full pieces. They only thing they give you a lot candy yams, and rice For $30 plate. If you get ripped off by your butcher for oxtails you can always go get a restaurant depot account oxtails only anywhere from nine to $11 a pound depending the way you want it at restaurant depot lol

This is my new favorite takeout restaurant on Long Island. The Caribbean food served here is packed with flavor and quite frankly, I'm addicted to it. It is absolutely incredible. My favorites are Boneless Chicken Thighs, Jerk Pork Shoulder and Lamb Curry. Highly recommend!!

This place is amazing. Hands down the best oxtail rasta pasta I've had, and they have really good sides too like candied yams, mac&cheese and collard greens . Just wish they'd make their mac and cheese a bit more creamy but thats a personal preference and I also think it'd be cool if they could add other options like cornbread or even lemon pepper as a flavoring for their chicken. I feel like they have a lot of potential and I plan on ordering from them in the future.

Guests rave about the flavorful marinades that elevate each dish, making every bite a delightful experience. During my visit, I was warmly welcomed by the lovely manager Dianne, who guided me through the menu.
I've been here a few times, and every time they've delivered on great food. I like the rasta pasta. It's got jerk chicken in it, and it's absolutely delicious. I've gotten the jerk chicken meal before and it was amazing as well. The guys behind the window are very nice and friendly. When the weather is good it's nice to eat on the tables they have outside and see the water. They do take some time to make the food, but it's well worth the wait.

Good chicken but the issue is they think giving 4 legs with a half jerk chicken order is acceptable. What chicken has 4 legs? Same issue with ordering a 1/4 jerk chicken. 2 legs with a tiny short thigh and back. Not much personality at the order window either. They don't come across as friendly, almost like they are doing you a favor, otherwise its okay if you don't care about those things.

Was recommended to me by a friend so decided to give them a try. Very friendly staff and food was made in the exact time they said it would be ready. We tried out this new place and were really happy we did! We all got the jerk chicken in various forms. I got the jerk wings which I loved! My mom got the jerk dinner with the rice and peas and Cole slaw. And my cousin got the jerk and fries. My brother got the pork jerk dinner snd didn't like it as much as the chicken. But the flavor was fantastic! The Cole slaw was amazing. Fresh with no mayo! Just how I like it. Dianne who helped us was great! We ordered to go, but next time we will eat on the lovely patio they have.

Although this is a small business on the water, it seems to be suited more towards take out orders. The business lives up to their name, myself having the Rasta pasta with chicken and my family having the Jerk Chicken entree. Both dishes were flavorful offering different levels of spice. The only thing missing would have been crisper chicken and an order of plantains.

Tonight I had dinner with my family at The Barnyard. We don’t live far from the establishment so rolling into the downtown area of Farmingdale was familiar and lively. What a fantastic experience! As someone who grew up with this food, I can honestly say it felt like home. The shrimp and grits were perfectly cooked and seasoned, the fried chicken was crispy and fresh, and the waffle was sweet and balanced beautifully with the scratch-made maple syrup. I was lucky enough to try the jerk chicken too—it was spot on: spicy, savory, and packed with bold allspice-forward flavor. The rum punch was strong and tasty, rounding out a truly authentic meal. On top of that, the wait staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to my 2-year-old, and they even let my mom—who arrived late—sit in and snack without giving us a hard time. Service was 10/10. Ask for T or Kee! This is the kind of food my Auntie Maudie would be proud of. Run, don’t walk, to The Barnyard ASAP!

We went for my late birthday celebration, and they accommodated 7 of us no problem. My favorite dish was far and away the jerk chicken. Juicy and tender, and the seasoning was not lacking. (It could have been spicier, but given the demographic of the neighborhood, I don’t blame them for taking it down a notch!) Mac and cheese was delicious, my Rasta pasta was perfectly cooked, the Akra and griot were lovely. They even had a soup of the day that my picky grandmother cleaned up! Thank you to the server who convinced her. All in all, my honest review is that this place is quite delicious, and the owners are really putting their heart and soul into it. If I had to leave one negative critique, it would be that these plates can be a tad bit pricey. However, considering how hard it is to be a new restaurant, and black owned at that, I will gladly be back to spend my money here for a plate that tastes like home. Who’s gonna support us if we don’t??

Eating at the barnyard was such a pleasant experience! Its small and seems family run (be it blood family or friends, they are clearly in sync with each other). The food is delicious and portions are great for the price. But, everything is made to order, so be prepared to wait a little bit. Its not fast food, its soul food. The atmosphere and service were fantastic! Ill definitely be back... I need to try the oxtail empanada! We had the jerk chicken tacos (app), fried chicken dinner and the jerk chicken dinner. Very filling and yummy! Make reservations as seating space is limited. Ideal for an intimate date or small group catchup over drinks.

Jamaican restaurant
At Stop n Nyamm, located in the heart of Carlton and Annet Williams, Chef Kwame McNeil masterfully fuses his Jamaican heritage with years of experience in both corporate and fine dining. Growing up in Port Antonio, he learned to cook over an open flame, a tradition that continues today with his daily-smoked jerk chicken.
We are first time customers trying Nyamm, and placed take out order, for a birthday, of Jerk chicken with sauce, Rasta Pasta, fried plantains. We couldn’t have been more pleased! The food was very tasty; the leftovers have been great!!! The order was ready as was discussed. This restaurant has gained some loyal followers. The staff is superb!

I will go back! I ordered Oxtails with rice and cabbage, but they ran out of cabbage. They did substitute it for some other greens. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. The Oxtails were tender. I ordered a beef patty as well, and it was hitting!! It's a bit pricey but so is everywhere these days. I only gave it 4 stars because they ran out of cabbage(which i was craving)& waiting for the next batch to cook was too long of a wait. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

OMG , never in my life have I ever had such amazing food! Tasted like it was home cooked just for me !! Everything was flavored and seasoned perfectly. Best red beans and rice I’ve ever had ! And the plantains 😍 I got wings today but I will be back soon to try everything else ! Worth every penny !! Well done guys ! Hidden gem 💎

I already had breakfast and stopped just because of the name. I'm definitely glad I did. The food tasted like something out of mommies kitchen as opposed to restaurant food. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular. To all the local "yardies"... Check them out

I truly wish i didnt order this, it looked nice tasted off! I ordered oxtails n curry goat with a side of Mac n cheese. The Mac was very dry and kinda the most basic you can get without making the kraft box. I didn't finish the Mac but let's talk about the oxtail. The flavor is perfect. I like a little more spice\heat but this truly was good flavor however the portion of oxtail was so small compared to the price an size of plate. The curry goat was ok but I just think they tasted old like a they were made few days ago. I will try it again in a few weeks to see if anything has changed but as of right now I would not recommend this place.

The boneless jerk chicken was dried out even though it was covered in jerk sauce, the rice and peas have no taste, the Rasta paste is creamy and far from Rastafarian‼️ the fresh juicy is definitely overpriced (@$12) to be in a plastic bottle. Only the snapper and veggie patty was edible out out of $70 worth of food🤬

The first time I ordered the Curry Goat it was good…second time around I tried to order through Uber Eats and a glitch kept doubling the price when I proceeded so I said I’m not paying $26 for a plate of Curry Goat and opted to see if the Curry Chicken worked and it didn’t double the price but it was the biggest mistake I’ve made that should’ve been my first sign to check elsewhere honestly…I get my order and NEVER have I had Curry Soup which seems with texture and taste like they just added curry powder to some brought-forward soup…NEVER AGAIN SAVE YOUR MONEY.

Not the greatest Jamaican food. Small oxtail dry rice and peas and plantains, pass on this place take a ride on 112 towards Port Jefferson. That place is much better.
