One of the most beautiful temples I’ve had the chance to visit in Kottayam. The weather was just perfect, adding to the serene and peaceful atmosphere. I was lucky to make it just in time before the temple closed for the morning session, if I remember right, it shuts at 12 noon.

**A serene spiritual retreat in the heart of Kottayam.** Kottayam Shiva Temple is not just a place of worship — it's an experience. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by an overwhelming sense of peace and timelessness. The temple architecture beautifully reflects Kerala's heritage, and the well-maintained premises add to the charm. Evenings here are especially divine, with the sound of temple bells, soft chants, and a gentle breeze that feels almost sacred — perfect for quiet reflection. The priests and staff are respectful and maintain the sanctity of the place. Whether you're deeply spiritual or simply looking for a peaceful stop during your day, this temple offers a kind of inner calm that's hard to find elsewhere. Highly recommended if you're in Kottayam — even a short visit can leave you feeling recharged and grounded.

The Bay Island Driftwood Museum is a unique and cozy cylindrical museum that showcases a fascinating collection of driftwood sculptures. Visitors can embark on a journey through Kumarakom's history, exploring its ancient roots and modern-day life through curated collections that offer insight into the region's diverse cultural influences, including arts, cuisine, and religious practices. The museum promises an enriching experience for history enthusiasts, culture buffs, and curious travelers alike.
This is a place that anyone with a creative bent of mind should not miss. Both the museum and the curator are unique. Each piece of driftwood sculpted by nature with time as its tool is a masterpiece, speaking to us both of itself as the perceived and the discerning capability of the collector. A result of 25 years of collector’s passion, followed by perseverance to display it for the greater benefit of all. A must visit, it leaves you with an enduring passion for life. Hoping that the concerned govt authorities will help her get the requisite funding required to display the unique craft in a manner most suitable for it.

Very Unique type of museum. Good work and excellant imagination, all from mother earth. This museum needs to be protected and reserved for knowledge of future generations. It is very skilful job to identify, recognize and visualize different features in wood and highlighting them in natural course. Madam has taken lot of efforts and dedicated her life to bring her dream true.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Truly Unique Experience — Nature’s Art Brought to Life Visiting the Bay Island Driftwood Museum in Kumarakom was one of the most memorable and enriching experiences of my trip. This museum is unlike any other — it is a celebration of nature’s own creativity, where ordinary pieces of driftwood collected from the sea have been transformed into extraordinary works of art. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by an atmosphere of warmth and curiosity. The museum houses an astonishing collection of driftwood sculptures — each piece shaped naturally by the forces of the sea and then carefully preserved and displayed. What’s most captivating is how the wood seems to tell stories on its own. Many pieces resemble animals, birds, mythical creatures, and human figures, as if nature itself was the sculptor. The highlight of our visit was the personal guidance we received from Mrs. Raji Punnoose, the visionary behind this museum. Her passion and dedication to preserving these rare creations are truly inspiring. She has a remarkable talent for bringing each piece to life through her explanations — pointing out the subtle details, sharing the history of where the wood was found, and describing how it naturally formed into its unique shapes. Listening to her felt like being part of a fascinating storytelling session that deepened our appreciation for both nature and art. The way the sculptures are displayed also deserves praise. Each exhibit is thoughtfully arranged so you can admire it from different angles, noticing new details each time. The lighting and curation highlight the natural textures and shapes of the wood, allowing you to see the true artistry of nature’s hand. Beyond the exhibits, the hospitality and service at the museum were exceptional. The staff were welcoming, patient, and eager to answer questions. The environment was clean, well-maintained, and provided a peaceful space to explore at your own pace. The care taken in preserving the sculptures and presenting them so beautifully reflects the museum’s commitment to quality and education. What sets the Bay Island Driftwood Museum apart is not just the uniqueness of the collection but also the sense of wonder and respect for nature’s creativity that it inspires in visitors. It’s a rare place where you leave feeling not only amazed by what you’ve seen but also enriched by what you’ve learned. I highly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Kumarakom. It’s more than just a tourist stop — it’s an educational and artistic experience that shows how nature itself can be the greatest artist. Thanks to Mrs. Raji Punnoose’s insightful explanations and the team’s excellent service, our visit was truly unforgettable. ⭐ Must-Visit Rating: 5/5 🌿 A place where nature’s imagination meets human curiosity.

The Cheriyapalli is not just an architectural gem; it is also a place of deep spiritual significance for the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Christian community. It remains a center of devotion, hosting important feasts like the Feast of the Assumption of St. Mary (Vangippu Perunnal), which draws pilgrims from across Kerala. Visitors often admire the way the church has been maintained, preserving its historic beauty while remaining an active place of worship. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the historical richness, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone in Kottayam — whether you’re a pilgrim, historian, or simply a curious traveler.
Santhosh P — Google review
St. Mary's Orthodox Syrian Church, Kottayam, commonly known as Kottayam Cheriapally, is a Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church located in Kottayam, Kerala, India. Cheriapally meaning ‘small church’, whose appearance contradicts its name, is one of the oldest and well-preserved churches in the state. Cheriapally is located on the way to Kumarakom from Kottayam. The church is dedicated to mother Mary. Kottayam Cheriapally, built in 1579, has retained its old world charm today as well even after so much of environmental changes. The length and breadth of the church is constructed with innovative paintings, mural, and architecture. Before the inception of the Old Seminary in 1815, Kottayam Cheriapally was the Headquarters of the Church and Malankara Metropolitans for a long time. The Dormition of Mother Mary or holy Theotokos occupies the most important place in the Orthodox Church next to that of Jesus Christ. It is indeed a great feast which depicts ‘falling asleep’ of the Mother of God and taking her body up into heaven by angels. The Feast of the Dormition of St. Mary (Vaangippu Perunnal or Shoonoyo Perunnal) is observed in this church on August 15. The feast of Dormition is celebrated by two weeks of fasting, known as the Dormition fast, beginning from 1 August to 15 August which draws many people from far and wide. The annual feast of the church (Feast of St. Mary) falls on January 15 and is known as Vithukalude Perunnal which means ‘the festival of seeds’. It is observed to invoke the blessings of Virgin Mary upon the agricultural seeds.
Shaji G — Google review
This beautiful church was built in the Portuguese-Baroque-Keralite style, the mural art on the church interiors depicts the major incidents in Jesus Christ's life. The eastern side of the church wall portrays the major happenings in the life of the Lord's mother. Some of the paintings depict the trial of Christ, Crucifixion, and Christ being taken down from the cross. The ceiling with 99 tiles is adorned with various paintings. Historians said that these were painted by foreign artists. Interestingly, the clothes worn by the people in the paintings are also European in style. Thought the paintings are in European style, some experts claim the technique used is that of artists from Kerala. All the paintings have been created by only using organic dyes from vegetables and flowers. A must visit place while you are in Kottayam.
Badri N — Google review
A Historic and Holy Gem of Kerala Kottayam Cheriapally (St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church), established in 1579, is a place where history, holiness, and heritage come together. This majestic church stands as a beacon of apostolic faith and is one of the most revered churches in India. What makes Cheriapally truly unique is that it was the first church in India to receive and enshrine the Holy Girdle (Soonoro) of St. Mary (Mother of God) Every year, during August 10–15, thousands come to venerate this relic during the Feast of St. Mary. Inside the Madbaha (altar) lies the visible tomb of Punnathara Mar Dionysius, Malankara Metropolitan who led the Malankara Church during difficult times. Kottayam Cheriapally was the Headquarters of the Church and Malankara Metropolitans for a long time. Mar Gabrieal, a Persian bishop who came centuries earlier, lies on the Madbha— though it is not visibly marked. This points to the ancient Persian connection of the Indian Church long before European missions. The interior is adorned with historic mural paintings, and the architecture beautifully blends Portuguese and Kerala styles. As you step in, you feel a deep spiritual peace, and many faithful believe miracles quietly happen here without publicity. 🕊️ A true apostolic site with relics, saints, and sacred history. 🪦 Visit the tombs of holy bishops inside the Madbaha. 🎨 Admire the centuries-old murals and sacred beauty. 🙏 A perfect place for prayer, reflection, and encountering divine grace.

Kottayam Cheriapally is one of the oldest churches in India, built in 1579. The galleries and pillars indicate European architecture. Slightly off the main road, leading through a narrow lane, parking available for few cars only. When we reached it was raining heavily but suddenly the downpour reduced making way to our visit. During the 11th century, native state of Venpoli (Venpolinadu) was under the supremacy of the Chera empire.Venpoli was made up of modern Vaikkom, Moovattupuzha, Kanjirapally and Thodupuzha. Kaduthuruthi was its capital. At the end of 11th century the conquest by the Cholas lead to the decline of Chera paved way for the independence of smaller states like Venpolinadu. Power struggles within Venpoli dynasty lead to the formation of Karikodu, Vadakumkoor and Thekkumkoor. Thekkumkoor state came into existence in AD1103 with Manikantapuram as its capital.Modern Kottayam was then known as Munjanadu whose capital was Thaliyilkotta consisting of Kottayam and Ettumanoor which was annexed to Thekkumkoor state and Vennimala was made region’s capital. But due to many reasons capital was again shifted back to Thaliyilkotta. During those times human civilization was based on river banks and the banks of river Meenachil began to develop trade routes with Kochi and Kozhikode states. Soon markets like Pazhayachanda (Old bazaar), Valiaangady (Big bazaar) began to flourish.

Transportation service
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Kottayam, the KSRTC Bus Station serves as a vital transportation hub for travelers exploring Kerala and beyond. Conveniently situated on TB Road, it offers seamless connectivity to popular destinations such as Alleppey, Thekkady, Kollam, Kozhikode, and even Bangalore.
The Kottayam KSRTC Bus Stand is one of the busiest and most important transport hubs in central Kerala. It connects passengers to major cities like Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, and even long-distance services to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The bus stand is moderately maintained, though it can get quite crowded during peak hours. There’s a good number of buses operating on both short and long routes, and timings are generally reliable. The staff are usually helpful, and the inquiry counter provides useful information. Basic amenities like seating, drinking water, and restrooms are available, but cleanliness could be improved. There are small eateries and shops nearby for refreshments, but they tend to be crowded as well. Parking space is limited, and entry/exit traffic is a bit chaotic, especially during school/office hours. Overall, the Kottayam KSRTC stand is functional and essential, though a bit of modernization and better upkeep would go a long way in improving the passenger experience.
Jobinm G — Google review
The KSRTC bus stand in Kottayam is a major transportation hub, connecting the town to various parts of Kerala and neighboring states. Located in the heart of Kottayam, the bus stand is well-equipped with essential facilities for passengers. It has a spacious waiting area, ticket counters, restrooms, and a variety of shops and eateries. Passengers can find local restaurants serving traditional Kerala food, as well as small stalls offering snacks and beverages. There are also ATM facilities and a help desk for travelers seeking information. Nearby, the Kottayam railway station is just a short distance away, providing easy access for travelers switching between train and bus routes. Additionally, the area around the bus stand has several lodges and hotels, making it convenient for those needing accommodation. Overall, the KSRTC bus stand in Kottayam is not just a transport hub but also a gateway to the town’s scenic beauty and cultural richness. Whether for daily commuting or long-distance travel, it provides a comfortable and well-connected experience. But the minus point of this place bathroom facility not clean well very bad experience
Praseetha K — Google review
I am not a resident of Kottayam. But I had a chance to go to the castle. I got off at this depot. The depot looked very nice, it's a busy depot. There is a bar located right next to it, from where I saw a drunken person scolding the passers-by. People including girls coming to this depot find it difficult to cross that one area. No one is protesting against this incident. I felt it was a negative. I am from Thiruvananthapuram.
Nandhu K — Google review
The KSRTC bus station in Kottayam is a moderately decent facility that caters to a significant number of passengers daily. While it serves its purpose effectively, there are areas that could benefit from improvement. Firstly, the location is quite convenient, situated centrally, which makes it accessible for most residents and travelers. The bus schedules are relatively punctual, and the availability of buses to various destinations is commendable. This ensures that commuters have multiple options and don't have to wait long for their rides. The waiting area, however, is a mixed bag. While there is ample seating, the cleanliness can sometimes be below par, especially during peak hours. The restroom facilities, too, need better maintenance to meet acceptable hygiene standards. It's not uncommon to see litter around, which diminishes the overall experience. Ticketing services are generally efficient, with both manual counters and automated machines available. However, the staff, though generally helpful, can sometimes be overwhelmed during rush hours, leading to long queues and a bit of frustration for passengers. One notable positive is the presence of a few small shops and eateries within the station premises. These provide passengers with options to grab a quick snack or drink while waiting for their bus. However, the quality and variety of food available could be improved. In summary, the KSRTC bus station at Kottayam is functional and provides essential services to travelers. While it does the job, a few enhancements, particularly in cleanliness and facility maintenance, could significantly elevate the passenger experience.
KARTHIK M — Google review
The whole of Kottayam — especially the KSRTC bus stand, its most critical transport hub — seems to be gasping for space and breath. Over the past 20 years, there has been little to no expansion or development in terms of basic infrastructure and public convenience. The town still feels like the same old, with narrow, congested roads struggling to cope with a steadily growing population. The KSRTC bus stand stands as a stark symbol of this stagnation. With buses entering or exiting almost every minute, the chaos is overwhelming — for passengers waiting or boarding, as well as for drivers trying to navigate tight spaces and limited parking. Ease of transportation is a cornerstone of urban development, and Kottayam can no longer afford to overlook this. To enable further growth, it is essential to establish a larger, better-planned bus terminal at a strategic location — one that connects key routes and provides room for the city to expand around it.
Nimesh N — Google review
The KSRTC Bus Station in Kottayam is one of the busiest and most important hubs in central Kerala. It’s well-connected to almost every district, and you can usually find buses at any time of the day or night. The staff are generally helpful, and the inquiry counter is useful for finding routes and timings. However, the station really needs improvement in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. The waiting area and toilets are not well maintained, and the place often gets crowded and messy, especially during rainy days. Parking and passenger space are also limited. It’s functional and convenient for travelers, but not very comfortable. Good for catching a bus — not for waiting too long
Amarnath S — Google review
Kottayam Bus Stand is quite decent and well-maintained. We used the cloak room facility, which was really convenient and well-managed. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby, making it easy for travelers to grab a meal while waiting. Overall, Kottayam is a very decent and pleasant city to visit.
Anubhav Y — Google review
The Kottayam KSRTC Bus Station is functional and essential for many travellers—especially given its connectivity and 24‑hour service. However, in terms of amenities, comfort, and modern infrastructure, it falls short. If you’re travelling via here, it’s best to plan for minimal comfort rather than expect premium waiting facilities.

Nestled in the heart of Kerala, Malarikkal Sunset View Point is a hidden gem that offers an enchanting escape into nature. This picturesque lookout provides stunning views over serene rivers and lush rice fields, especially captivating in October when bright pink water lilies bloom. For those seeking a tranquil experience away from the hustle and bustle of city life, visiting during weekdays is ideal to avoid crowds.
It really is as beautiful place as the pictures, it was amazing! Millions and millions of bright pink lilies as far as the eye can see! Rs. 1000 private boat for one hour trip is recommended for 5-6 numbers groups. Ideal time to start the journey between 6.30 am to 7.30. It was a great experience. You will find private parking and no public or paid toilets available. Better to keep umbrella with you due to unpredictable weather.
Sanoj K — Google review
The place has changed a lot in past years. Have enough parking facilities and good roads now. Tourism has evolved and is now more commercialised. They'll stop you at starting itself and ask to take a boat. Rates are around 1000 per boat mostly. Make sure to go till end of the road and then get the boat. Get there as early as possible during sunrise. Should visit before 8am to see the flowers. In off season one can visit at sunset to enjoy and feel the view and nature. Toilet facilities and good restaurants are missing.

It was an unforgettable experience at Malarikkal. The lilies were grown in 650 acres of paddy field. It’s a seasonal attraction, which starts from mid June to September. If you are planning to go there,One thing you have to keep in mind that, you have to get there before 10am. The best time of day to visit is early in the morning from 6:30 to 9:30. During these hours, the pink lilies are in full bloom, offering the most stunning and picturesque views. After 9:30, the flowers close their petals as the sun rises. Small boats and speed boats are there which costs only Rs.100/head. You can buy lilies before entering the boat, so that you can take beautiful pictures with that.It costs Rs.30 for a bunch. You can park the vehicle along the roadside. Tea shops are there nearby. Homely breakfast options are also there.
Rishla — Google review
Superb peaceful and pretty with lilies upto the horizon. Canoe ride was awesome as you glide past all the beautiful red lilies. Better to take the canoe as you are closer to the water and 🌺 and can go at your pace than the bigger motor boats which take you on a fixed route on the clear part of the waters.
Indira — Google review
Best place to enjoy the beauty of water lilies. The best time to visit is between 7 AM to 8 AM as you get the nice lighting for photos. 1 hour boat ride for Rs. 1000 is really worth. You get paid car parking, but toilets are not there. They give importance to safety also.. Remember to wear life jackets.
Nithin S — Google review
Just imagine, an endless ocean of water lilies, chirping of birds, you and your loved ones in a boat watching the sunrise together. Beautiful isn’t it. Away from the chaos of city into the peaceful bliss, it feels like the time has slowed and you have merged with the nature itself. Might sound like I am exaggerating but it’s true.

A Hidden Paradise in Kerala – Truly Magical! Visiting Malarikkal was like stepping into a dream. The breathtaking views of endless green paddy fields, gentle backwaters, and blooming water lilies created a picture-perfect scene that I will never forget. The atmosphere is calm, pure, and deeply refreshing — far from the noise and rush of city life. The best part was just sitting quietly and soaking in the peaceful surroundings while the gentle breeze rustled through the coconut trees. It's the kind of place that instantly relaxes your mind and soul. I went during the water lily bloom season, and it was like nature put on a special show just for us. The sight of pink flowers gently floating on water, with the golden sun setting in the background — absolutely mesmerizing. The locals were kind and welcoming, and the area is still unspoiled, which makes it even more special. If you're in Kerala and want to experience its raw, untouched beauty, Malarikkal is a must-visit. It’s not just a destination, it’s a feeling — one that stays with you long after you leave.

This temple is not under devaswam. This is under the control of some families. That is why it is still keeping its fame. Almost all other temples are converted as a business by political parties, they are lootting the wealth of god. Kumaranalloor temple is an exception for this. This goddess is very powerful and considered as madhura meenakshi. 🙏

Kumaranalloor Devi Temple is considered as one of the most important Devi temples among the 108 Durgalayas (Devi temples) in Kerala. The temple is said to be more than 2400 years. My marriage was conducted in this temple and that's the first time I had come to know about this temple, but at that time I couldn't see the deit because of marriage rush and heavy downpour. On my first visit to Wife's house I wanted to see the deity but heavy rain was pouring down and I cancelled my plan to visit but then when I reached thiruvalla something told me that I should from that day onwards visit the Devi and then only go to Wife's home. Since then I have kept that and I am really fond and her sincere bhakthan. It is a peaceful and serene environment that reminds us that temples were place of workship and calmness. Really love the architecture and mural painting inside

Illikkal Kallu is a breathtaking rock formation perched atop a hill in the Kottayam district of Kerala, offering visitors an unforgettable experience. The journey to this natural wonder involves navigating newly tarred roads that make it accessible for all vehicles, with ample parking available at the base. For those who prefer a more immersive adventure, walking up the steep track reveals stunning views of lush greenery and expansive valleys along the way.
Illikal Kallu is a stunning natural viewpoint with panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The trek to the top is moderately challenging but very rewarding, with lush greenery and fresh air along the way. From the peak, you get breathtaking views that are perfect for photography and enjoying nature. The area is peaceful and less crowded, making it ideal for a quiet getaway. It’s best to wear comfortable shoes and carry water and snacks for the trek. A must-visit for adventure seekers and nature lovers.

A beautiful spot worth visiting over a weekend, own vehicles are allowed only up to the base parking spot, from there dedicated jeeps take tourists to the top. It's a serene hill top with a near steep trek to the top. There are no proper steps for some distance and that's what makes it worth the visit. The trek will prove you tough for differently abled and senior citizens. But there are plenty of other spots for everyone to explore. The entire location is filled with scenic views, all around. It's worth enjoying with family and friends. Even the approach roads are awesome.

Praveen K — Google review
We visited it during a Sunday. The view point is somewhat up in a hill where you can either take a jeep or walk. It was a bit crowded. The view was indescribable. Though we could only spot the kallu from the valley of the hill, climbing the hill and experiencing the mist and fog felt joyous. The picturesque walking up the hill seemed as if climbing the great wall of china with the new railings installed. There is an interlock pathway confined to the area where the hill meets the land just to ease the walking uphill. And there are some benches where you can sit and relax. However there are no steps or pathway uphill which might be risky for kids and adults. With the rain, the terrain turned muddy and slippery. Illikkal kallu deserves to be visited atleast once in a lifetime.
Greeshma A — Google review
There is a jeep trip from the parking area to the start of the hill hike. Recommend to take that, walking would be a bit hard, especially if you are there around noon. Try to visit in the mrng or evng. Excessive amount of tourists visiting the hill has caused soil erosion. There was some construction works going on without any precautions.
Jiss T — Google review
Illikkal Kallu is easily one of my favorite hilltop escapes in Kerala. I visited recently, and the experience was nothing short of magical. From the moment I started the short trek up (about 20–30 minutes), I was surrounded by cool mountain air and lush greenery. The climb is not too hard, and I loved stopping along the way to take in the changing views as the mist rolled through. Reaching the top was unforgettable. Standing next to the massive rock formation, with clouds floating around me and a 360° view of endless hills and valleys, I felt completely at peace. Someone told me that on a clear day you can even spot the Arabian Sea in the distance. There are small tea shops at the base, and sipping a hot chai after the trek made the experience even better. The place is well maintained with parking and basic facilities, but it still feels wonderfully wild and natural. If you’re planning a visit, I’d recommend arriving early morning or late afternoon for the best light and fewer crowds. Wear comfy shoes and carry a light jacket—weather changes fast up there. Illikkal Kallu gave me one of those rare moments where you feel small in the best possible way. I can’t wait to go back with friends and soak in that view all over again.

Illikkal Kallu is an absolutely stunning destination that truly showcases the beauty of Kerala! The view from the top is breathtaking — surrounded by misty hills, cool breeze, and endless greenery. The short trek to the viewpoint is quite manageable, and every step feels worth it once you reach the top. It’s a great spot for photography, peaceful walks, and just soaking in nature’s beauty. There are a few small shops and cafes nearby offering tea, snacks, and local delicacies which add to the experience. The place is well-maintained and organized with decent parking facilities. If you’re in Kerala, this is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature, tranquility, and scenic landscapes. A perfect place to relax and refresh your mind! 🌿✨

Illikkal Kallu is a spectacular natural wonder that leaves you in awe! The hike up to the peak is adventurous yet refreshing, surrounded by lush greenery, rolling hills, and serene landscapes. The cliff-edge viewpoint gives you a sense of standing on top of the world, with cool winds and the vast expanse of nature stretching endlessly. It’s perfect for photography enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape from city life. A visit to the Vaikom Mahadeva Temple is both a spiritual and cultural experience. The moment one steps into the temple premises, a deep sense of peace and devotion takes over. The rhythmic chanting of mantras, the fragrance of incense, and the sound of temple bells together create an atmosphere of divine serenity. The temple’s traditional architecture, with its ancient stone pathways and beautifully carved wooden structures, reflects Kerala’s timeless temple artistry. The idol of Lord Vaikathappan radiates a powerful spiritual presence, drawing devotees into quiet contemplation and prayer. Witnessing the rituals, especially during the early morning and evening poojas, is profoundly moving. The sight of oil lamps flickering in the sanctum and the temple pond reflecting the golden glow of twilight add to the sanctity of the experience. The Vaikathashtami festival transforms the entire temple town into a vibrant centre of faith, culture, and community harmony. It is not merely a celebration but a reaffirmation of Kerala’s spiritual legacy and the enduring devotion of its people. A visit to Vaikom Temple leaves one with a lasting impression — of faith beyond boundaries, tradition rooted in compassion, and a sense of inner calm that lingers long after leaving the temple grounds.

I recently visited Mango Meadows with my family, and it was a truly wonderful experience. We were welcomed with a warm introduction by Shiv Priya, who gave us an overview of the place. Since my mom couldn’t walk long distances, we opted for the e-guide service, and our guide Adhithya accompanied us. She showed us around in an auto, making the entire tour both comfortable and surreal. She explained everything clearly and ensured we got a complete idea about the place. We then went for the Shikara Vallom ride, which felt like a mini version of the Alappuzha houseboat experience—fresh, peaceful, and relaxing. The park also offers fish feeding, basket boating, speed boating, a variety of plants and trees, an aquarium, and even 12D theatres. If you have only one day and want to visit a place with a wide range of activities, this is definitely one of the best choices. They also have accommodation facilities, which I would love to explore on my next visit. Overall, Mango Meadows is a perfect full-day family outing destination, offering nature, activities, and memorable experiences. Highly recommended!

Purely a place for audio buffs & A must visit place, to get a better understanding of how audio recording & playback evolved. This is an amazingly passionate personal collection of Mr.Sunny, with a sound knowledge in this industry you may not find a collection of this range in India i guess. I loved it. Also a big appreciation to his family for their support in this journey. Please visit by appointment only, it usually takes about 2 hours for a personal guided tour & more if you are seriously interested like me. There is no fee but contributions would be highly appreciated. Also if you have old audio equipment lying around unused please contribute to this passionate collector.

Excellent. It was an enlightening experience. Mr Sunny has painstakingly collected and displayed those items of the past, which otherwise might get lost by negligence.

Kudos to Sunny. We were amazed by his knowledge and passion and what a dream he has created. A must see for anybody who loves music and history. The collections of Gramophones and discs are just unbelievable. Would suggest folks who want to visit to fix up a time with Sunny before reaching the place as what is put for display is his personal collection with care and not a commercial venture. A big thanks to sunny for accommodating us at the last minute.

One of the very best places for music lovers interested in the history of how music evolved. Incredible collection of Vintage gramophones from 19th century onwards. Mr.Sunny, owner of the museum has very painstakingly collected these priceless gems from all over India and abroad...The collection includes more than one lakh records, including rubber, vinyl and shellac records. He is also the proud owner of the very first recording done in India on a record. Besides this there is a good collection of old musical instruments and very old telephones. Mr.Sunny has an in-depth knowledge of all the equipment in the museum and he explained everything in great detail. Museum is situated in a very green surroundings, slightly away from the main road. If you visit Kerala it is a must visit. You can google 'Discs and Machines, Sunny's Gramophone Museum and find the location easily.

This museum cum archive of gramaphones and records is the first in this category in India. It has a wide collection of rare music records which are more than 150 years old which clearly explain the origin and growth of the music industry. The museum attracts many foreign institutions. The museum is run by Sunny Mathew purely on his own fund and entry is with prior appointment only. Video is coming soon in my YouTube channel Life Travel Vlogs.

Sunny’s Gramophone Museum🏯 and Records Archive, a remarkable collection of vintage records housed in a double-storeyed, air-conditioned building with an atrium. It was opened on January 25,2015. It is a treasure trove with more than a ✌lakh gramophone discs, of which around 75% are 78 rpm shellac records, cylinder records and wire records; there are also more than 260 gramophones. If you have a passion for knowledge in music and history, this is the right place for you🙌...

Waterfalls
The Marmala Waterfalls is a popular tourist attraction that can be reached through a combination of hiking and travel by 4-wheel vehicle. This natural waterfall is accessible to visitors who enjoy adventure and exploring the great outdoors. To experience the beauty of these falls, travelers must traverse rugged terrain and hike along picturesque trails. The Marmala Waterfalls offer a unique opportunity for tourists to marvel at the awe-inspiring power of nature while immersing themselves in an exciting outdoor adventure.
Marmala Waterfall is truly a hidden gem in Kottayam district, tucked away in the middle of lush greenery. The journey itself is an adventure – after reaching the parking area, you’ll need to trek a little through rocky terrain and plantations, but the effort is completely worth it once you see the breathtaking view. The waterfall cascades beautifully into a natural pool with crystal-clear, refreshing water. The atmosphere is calm, peaceful, and less crowded compared to other tourist spots, making it an ideal place for nature lovers and those who enjoy quiet escapes. The sound of rushing water surrounded by dense forest gives a magical vibe. A few things to keep in mind: the trek can be slippery during monsoon season, so good shoes are a must. Facilities are minimal, so carry your own water and snacks. Also, safety should be a priority while getting into the water as the rocks can be sharp and the flow strong at times. Overall, Marmala Waterfall is a must-visit destination if you love nature, adventure, and unspoiled beauty. Perfect spot for photography and spending a few serene hours away from the city.

Beautiful waterfall. Very Calm atmosphere. Bathing is allowed in specific area of river about 100m from entrance. Waterfall is about 400m from entrance. Parking space is not available. We have to park on the road side.Road is OK. Lacking refreshment stores. Need more infrastructures like parking area,Restrooms and refreshment stores. Overall nice experience for one day trip .

Marmala Waterfalls is one of those hidden gems tucked away in the greenery of Kottayam. The place feels untouched — pure forest, fresh air, and the sound of rushing water echoing through the hills. The short trek to reach the falls is a bit challenging, especially during rainy days, but totally worth it once you catch sight of the water cascading down between the rocks. It’s not a typical tourist spot with food stalls and benches, so carrying your own water and snacks is a good idea. The best part is how peaceful it feels — no crowds, just nature doing its thing. Perfect for a quiet getaway or a one-day trip with friends.
Arundhathi 8 — Google review
Best during monsoon. A stream at the entrance u can bath there. The falls at the top requires a small trek. Definitely Worth visiting to witness the views.
Arun M — Google review
Our visit to the Marmala Waterfalls was unplanned. While returning from Illikkal Kallu, we were looking for a place to relax when we stumbled upon the falls. Although not very large, the waterfalls are close enough to appreciate up close, and there is also a spot suitable for taking a bath. It's a great destination for a short visit. After parking your vehicle, you will need to walk a bit to reach the falls, and there is an entry fee required.
Renju L — Google review
It was a decent waterfalls, the road to the waterfall is pretty nice, narrow though hardly two cars from opposite can pass through, entrance is pretty simple.
Jeevan R — Google review
A must visit waterfall. Two areas to explore; a bathing area where you can go in and take a refreshing dip, or go up and look at the majestic water falling down. Lots of parking, ₹30 entry fee

A beautiful temple! Went here during the festival and it turned out to be such a delight! Dedicated to Lord Saraswati, it's a place to go to get good darshan for studies! Definitely a historical place and before you visit my humble request that you read about the place on Wikipedia!
Vivin M — Google review
This temple is situated 12 kms from kottayam in panachikkad. It is believed that Goddess Saraswati resides in a pond in this temple. Since the pond is covered by a large creeper and one cannot see below, an idol is placed adjacent to the pond and worshipped. It is believed that the pond never runs dry and is perennially covered by the creeper. Although the main deity is Maha Vishnu, the temple is dedicated to Saraswati and it is believed that she is residing here. Hence, it is very auspicious to conduct the Vidyarambam here for children. Devotees worship before Saraswathi is Ganapati, Shiva, Sasthavu and Yakshi are sub-deities who are also worshiped in this temple. The major festival is Navarathri.

Dakshina Mookambika Temple, located in Kottayam district, is a revered shrine dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, affectionately known as the Mookambika of the South. One of the temple’s unique features is a sacred pond that never dries, even during peak summer. Another special aspect is the creeper plant that naturally grows around the idol of the goddess, adding to the spiritual aura. In addition to the main deity, the temple also houses shrines for Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa, the Nagarukavu (serpent deities), and the Panachikkattu Yakshi. The temple is especially famous for Vidyarambham and Saraswati Pooja, which are celebrated with great devotion. Parking space is available, making it convenient for visitors.

Peaceful abode of Goddess Saraswati. National Level Dance and Music Festival is conducted annually on the occasion of Navaratri celebration
Sarath P — Google review
This temple is quite famous, especially during Vidyarambham, when children write for the first time as part of a significant ritual. On these days, the temple opens as early as 4 AM. You can book your slots online to access a less crowded queue. I recommend arriving as early as possible to complete the process quickly. As the day progresses, the crowd increases significantly, leading to longer wait times, especially with a baby. We left home around 3 AM and reached by 3:45 AM, by which time the parking was already filling up. However, we were able to complete the ritual and have darshan within an hour. Overall, it was a great experience. The temple also offers photography services for the event. You can pay ₹250 for two printed copies and request soft copies if needed.
Vishnu A — Google review
Visiting this temple was a truly divine experience. The atmosphere is peaceful and filled with positive energy. The rituals and poojas are done with such devotion that you instantly feel connected spiritually. The temple is well-maintained, clean, and welcoming to devotees. Overall, this temple is not just a place of worship, but a place where you can recharge your mind and soul. especially during Navarathri Maholsavam. The entire temple comes alive with devotion, music, and cultural programs.Classical music and dance performances during the festival make it a cultural treat as well.

Vaikom Fish Farm And Aqua Tourism Pvt Ltd is a delightful stop for a meal and an educational experience. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious and served on banana leaves. It's a great place for families to enjoy guided tours of the aquarium, fish farming demonstrations, traditional boating, fishing, and various games. Visitors can also learn about cage farming and feed fish while indulging in cycling activities. The Shell Museum offers an intriguing look at different types of shells and conchs.
We stopped here whilst out on the river for the day for both mid morning 'breakfast' and lunch early afternoon. The staff working here are really lovely and freindly. The food was delicious and freshly made, then served on a banana leaf! In the afternoon there were local school children visiting too, it was nice to see when enjoying the river and nature too. It you are travelling this way be sure to stop by, I'm confident you'll enjoy a visit.

I recently visited Vaikom Fish Farm And Aqua Tourism Pvt Ltd with my family, and it was a truly relaxing experience. The place has a calm, serene atmosphere, perfect for spending quality time with loved ones. Activities like games and kutta vanchi were really engaging and fun for everyone. The food was excellent, with delicious fish preparations that we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were very welcoming and cooperative, making our visit even more pleasant. If you’re looking for a peaceful, homely spot to spend a day with your family, this place is definitely worth a visit. It feels more personal and homely rather than overly commercialized.

Good place to visit. You can see varieties of fishes and you can catch fishes. Kids play area is there. You will get a welcome drink and will get lunch. Not sure about evening snacks. Timings are from 11 to 6. Mr. Vipin explained everything about the fishes in the aquarium. Staffs are very friendly. As I visited on a weekday there was no rush.

We had planned a trip to this place after going through the reviews but all our expectations were shattered after reaching there. Reasons: 1. There's no proper parking area for vehicle. 2.Access road/bridge/canals are dirty and not safe. 3. Playing area for kids: we can have better place/items at panchayat/municipal park at free of cost. 4. Lunch provided was not even worth for Rs.80/- 5. Aquarium: we can see more/better fishes in an ordinary aquarium shop.. 6.Museum: Mmmmm 7. Overall maintenance of the property is very poor. Suggestions: * Improve the facilities * Provide better tastier food * If the entry fees being collected is not enough, let them increase it and let the people return with satisfaction...
SOLOMAN T — Google review
It's a very old property, better to reach their own vehicle instead public transport, it's bit inside the main road...completely fishing poultry... We opted basic package of inr 400 not at all worth, consists only four games which play in beach side... Food is ok with only non-veg of curry fish...tea and snacks extra charges which is not at all worth for the cost... For 400 certain boat games is not at all interesting, literally not worth for the cost...

Nice place and friendly staff.. Lack of maintenance is there, if they do it then it's fantastic.. My kids enjoyed fishing, gaming and boating.. Soothing and calm place..
Seena S — Google review
Fees 250₹ per head. Costly compared to the service and amenities provided by them. Waiting time = 0 Food = book ahead Fun activities -two three games are there. If u wins, they will give you some gifts. Parking - a small space is allotted for cars. But if its full, you will have to park your car by the roadside ( difficult ) or you will have to travel 500m to the main road and park there. Crowd - Nil You can catch fish, but you will have to pay for it (as per the market price of fish). Customer service- friendly staff They should reduce the entry fees or increase their facilities.

Aruvickachal Waterfalls is a beautiful destination, especially during the monsoon season. While the roads leading to the waterfall may not be in the best condition and could pose challenges for vehicles with low ground clearance, it offers a magical experience once you arrive. Visitors can enjoy a safe and refreshing bath closer to the falls and take a leisurely 500-meter walk through a rubber estate from the car park.

Puthuppally Elephants Care Point is not a typical recreational spot like a park or zoo, but rather a private area dedicated to the well-being of elephants. If you have an affinity for these majestic creatures, you can visit this place and observe them without any hurry. It is recommended to call in advance to confirm the presence of the elephants, as they may be away participating in temple festivities. One prominent elephant known as "Putupally Sadhu" is particularly looked after here.
We chose to stop by here during a long trip as it was on our way. Absolutely special place, kids really enjoyed it. It’s not a show or a zoo, but a private place where they take care of the elephants and we have to respect their routines. We saw them bathing Elephant Sadhu and was memorable to see elephant up close quite simply. We all really enjoyed the visit and such a beautiful setting too.

Don't expect more.... It's not a park or a zoo or any place to hang out. It's just a private area where a person takes care of his elephants. If you are a crazy elephant lover you may visit the place and watch some elephants without any rush. Before starting your journey It is advisable to call them and ensure the presence of elephants. And if you are lucky enough you can see elephants taking their bath. "Putupally Sadhu" - a renowned elephant is taken care here. If you take children with you they will surely enjoy the place.

Muthukora View Point is a must-visit for trekking enthusiasts, offering an exhilarating experience with stunning views at the top. It's advisable to carry water and ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as Google Maps may not provide accurate directions. When starting the trek, it's recommended to ask for the easiest way and be prepared for a challenging journey. The trek requires good shoes due to sharp stones along the way.
The journey is hard and long. Taxing on your body if you are a sloth. But if you are determined to reach the top, you will be amazed. The view only gets better with the sense of achievement you receive from the trek. There are two paths to reach the bottom of the hill. Google maps will show a path from a different location. The journey is different if you ask around. A shorter path is revealed. Carry water with you, be sure not to litter the bottles anywhere in the green, there are collecting bins at the start. Wear something comfortable, sweat pants, comfortable outdoor shoes, ... Watch your steps as there are no protective railings. And most of all, be sure the people with are positive and athletic, so that even if you want to stop, they'll motivate you to go on. In my case, i had a motivational friend. The place is more enjoyable with the right crowd of people with you. I wish you all the best and happy journey. The place is great, people are friendly and helpful. The sight at the top is the best view ever.
Akshay J — Google review
Absolutely loved the place. The place to visit if you love trekking with some good action in it. The view on top is stunning. Carry water & make sure your vehicle has enough fuel. Google map may misguide you, so nothing wrong in checking in person at random locations. (Take a left from poonjar, if the map says right. You have to pass through Kunnonny). Things to remember: - Ask for the easiest way. There's quite a way upwards to climb to the start of the trek if you are coming via the main road. There are multiple roads that lead to the trekking point. So please consider asking the same to someone. - Carry water. Atleast a bottle/person. But don't litter - Wear good footwear. There are places where you would need to have a good grip to make the next step. Shoes advised since the path is rough - Views are stunning & that obviously calls pictures & recordings. But do that while you are safe & standing still a point. Paths are narrow & you don't want even a bit of lack of concentration. - If you need to, carry small packs of munchies to recharge yourself. There's an abandoned house midway. Be careful of the surroundings since there is a well & it's pretty unnoticed at first. - Very Important - the clothes you wear should be light & easy & loose. Even if you are not planning to trek all the way to the top, you would find it very hard to make the bigger stretchs in your denims. Unless you are a experienced trekker or does not mind getting a few scratches, cover your whole body. There are rocks, fallen trees, bushes & razor sharp grass all along. - It's an open & higher ground, means you should be avoiding the place with the slightest clue of a rain. Not adviced to climb if it's too sunny either. - Carry less, added weight won't help in the climb - Just enjoy & have fun Yeah, that's that. Happy trekking.

The best trek in Kottayam district. Really awesome experience. Better to visit in mornings. Abiut 1.5 hours to walk through tall grasses and rocks. Really refreshing experience.

One of the Best Experience i had while doing this Trek ❤️ Few things you have to keep in mind. 1. Wear Good Shoes trek i wont say u have to buy trek shoes but wear shoes because the on the way of trek you will find lot of sharp stones which can cut ur fingers plus some rocks are very big rocks so you get good grip 2. Carry water don't even think about going without water for this trek, you won't find any place where or shop on top of this. 3. Eat lighter and carry little snacks while doing this trek, you gonna drop lot of energy and calories. 4. Keep your bag lighter it will make your trip little easier. 5. Don't look in camera and walk you will fall from a good height and end it up bad scene 6. If its raining then please don't trek, thunder strikes a lot at the top, wet grass and stones can make you slip into fall from that mountain. 7. Wear full sleeve t shirts/shirt and pants grass are very sharp and it can cut ur skin. 8. Take small breaks and go. 9. Please don't smoke or drink 10. Most Important please don't throw plastic bottles or waste this place is so beautiful and untouched, only few people went up so keep it clean and keep it green. Hangout Play World is a unique concept that brings together shops, hotels, and parks under one umbrella. It offers a variety of food and beverage options, including Mexican and local dishes. The park features a children's area and offers activities like electric jeep and train rides for an additional cost. Visitors can enjoy games such as gift picking crane and moving bike by purchasing coins. The water pool is a hit with kids, featuring a big basket water drop.
The concept is super very fresh and first of kind in southern Kerala, overall theme, artifacts, lighting, the vibe , different cuisine are fabulous.

I recently visited Hangout Play World near Kaithamala Muslim Church, Ettumanoor with my two little cousin brothers, and it turned out to be a great place to spend a relaxed evening. The spot is well-suited for families with kids, offering a variety of fun activities to keep children engaged. One of the highlights is that it’s located right next to Food Street, so while the kids are busy playing, adults can enjoy a wide range of delicious food options—a perfect setup for a family outing. If you're planning to try the water activities, be sure to carry an extra set of clothes for the children.

All the rides were amazing. Best experience with family. Will definitely return for more. The water rides are the most memorable ones and fun ones. Had a really great time with all my friends. entry fees - 80 rupees.. individual fees for each ride..

I waited for almost 20 minutes for the staff who prepare tea and even the cleaner didn’t know where he had gone. I asked for a black tea at the counter, but the staff was quite arrogant and rude. They were unwilling to serve plain black tea and only offered a version with cardamom and cloves, which I didn’t prefer. Staff with such an attitude can definitely damage the reputation of the place.

Visited Hangout Playworld Ettumanoor today with my family and had a great time! The place is really clean and has lots of fun things for kids—rides, water play, and games. The staff were helpful and the whole vibe was lively. Perfect spot for a family outing, definitely recommend it if you want a relaxing and fun day with the kids

Not a great place, both in terms of facilities & cost. Good for one time visit. They charge entry fee at Rs. 80 for all above 3 years of age but there are no facilities for adults to enjoy. Ironically you will see more adults than kids in the park. Additional charges for electric jeep and train ride (Rs. 150 for 15 mins), water park (Rs. 190) and game zone (minimum Rs. 120). No soft play area for smaller kids. No drinking water facility, which is a basic necessity in kids park. Maintenance is poor, equipments have lost its sheen, slides don’t slide anymore that easily, murky water in the pool. Water level in the pool is very low. While they have put a limit on trampoline users to 4 at a time there is nobody to enforce it. The language skills of announcers need to be improved. Toilets are not maintained well. There is no shower in changing room. The ladies changing room doesn’t have proper doors.

Everything is fine one of the black lady ask every children to perform dance and songs on the stage, every kids was performed their best at last she give some gifts only for two childrens rest of them felt bad my daughter are cryed for same gifts very rude behavior from that foolish lady 🙁 children are different age catogory how can you choose two out twenty or more kids? we are paying money for make our children happy not to see our kids felling disappoint.! If you can't gits everyone don't gifts to anyone otherwise treat everyone fairly especially kids.. Dear parents don't allow your kids to perform anything on the stage they come back with sad face ..!

A good enough place for kids to have a short and sweet enjoyment. Entry price is affordable ₹80/ person. Electric jeep and train ride will cost extra ₹150/person. Eve though it's a very small area, it's well managed and clean. Games like gift picking crane, moving bike, etc can be availed for coin purchase. Water pool is enjoyable for kids with big basket water drop. Evenings are made more enjoyable by music nights and art performance. Timings are from 10AM to 10 PM. ADDED ADVANTAGE food street with variety menu options near by along with EV charging station. You can
