The restaurant is usually quiet during that time, not very crowded. It's well maintained, good ambience. They have parking inside.
Ordered king fish fry which was good but a little expensive. Had mushroom masala (which was too good) with appam and parotta.
Didn't like their egg curry much.
Their portion size is good.
Good decor. Good service. Plenty parking. Neat n clean restaurant and washrooms. Chicken biryani was above average. It was not a yakhni biryani, ie rice not tasting of bone marrow. Rice were more like pulao and were tasting of different fruity flavours. Tea was average. Lemon soda was average.
I had an greate Kerala meal with an excellent service.
The price are good for this quality and the comfort of air con.

Visited yesterday. Place is not at all crowded. Very peaceful place. Giving a 5 star for the food quality. We ordered beef fry, chicken roast etc. Food was perfectly cooked and tasted nice. Service was good. Lot of parking area is available. They even have an electric charging station which is of great advantage. Toilets are very clean 👍 Giving a 5 Star rating.. 😊

Although the place was crowded and noisy, the tasty dishes like peanut masala and alfham chicken were worth the price. The liquor prices were somewhat expensive. Due to the crowd, the service was delayed a bit.
120 or 150 for a can of Kingfisher beer (can't remember) 150 or maybe up to 200 for a bottle. The boneless chicken 65 was delicious for 250.
It's a locals bar, all men sitting quietly enjoying their beers. Seating inside, only.

Was the only bar close to our Pine Beach residence. 8 min walk. The bar seemed v typical dark and underwhelmingly unwelcoming. We had drinks at restaurant where service was a tad slow, but being out of season did not mind the wait.

It was ok ok place considering the fact that this was the only place near allepey beach where we get drinks.

Restaurant for a date night. The lighting and ambience sets the mood, food is good and there isn't a long wait. It's in front of Alappy beach. Bit expensive, Cards accepted. Parking available. Both veg and non veg provided. Amazing service as well.
Great vibe and good food.
The food was so good here we had dinner here every night we were in Alleppey. A very nice leafy setting opposite the beach, fantastic well priced food and alcohol menu, and lovely staff. Definitely recommend for ambience, food quality and value for money. The Chicken 65 was to die for, but everything we had was delish.

Food - Both the Paneer roast and chicken curry were marvellous. Paneer roast could be paired with Roti and rice and it would be great with either. It is slightly on the spicier side but not overwhelming.
The Chicken curry with the rice teamed up as the ultimate comfort food. The spicyness of the curry was mild and yet soothing.
Seating & ambience - There is ample seating space and the staff at this place was courteous.
Location - located very close to a auto stand.
Overall Impression - It was a memorable dinner for us at this busy restaurant during our Kerala tour.
Thaff Hotel is the hotel that was opened and food 🥑 available for eating 😀 other restaurants were closed in peak hour also most of them are lunch specials not dinner special.we had appam with matar masala , tandoori rooti with chicken gravy with ample amount of portions with salads lemon 🍋 slices.Really good as compared to other options available nearby.Non veg option were more veg also had limited options due to heavy rain less crowd i think.But owner staff behaviour Polite and helpfull in menu selections explained what's available in menu as well as food readily available in there kitchen.thank you Thaff Hotel for serving us properly and filled stomach with good warm food.deifinelty i will do visit again if got chance to eat at these cozy place.₹10 per piece appam was super budget friendly.

Disappointing Experience at Thaaf*
I recently visited Thaaf with my brother, and we shared an order of chicken and beef biryani. Unfortunately, the biryani fell short of our expectations. The quality of the rice used was subpar, and the overall taste was below average.
The beef biryani had only 2 pieces of beef, which were average in quality. I couldn't finish my portion due to the lack of flavor and quality. My brother also couldn't finish the chicken biryani, although I found it slightly better than the beef option when I tried it.
Compared to our past experiences at Thaaf, the food quality seems to have declined significantly. I'm extremely disappointed and wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone based on our recent visit.

I recently visited Thaff, Alappuzha and had a wonderful experience. I ordered Chicken 65, Chicken Roast, Appam, and Porotta, and everything was simply amazing.
The Chicken 65 was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and perfectly spiced – not too oily, just the right balance of flavors. The Chicken Roast was rich and aromatic, with a delicious gravy that paired perfectly with both Appam and Porotta. The Appams were soft and fluffy in the center with crispy edges, just how they should be. The Porottas were layered, flaky, and fresh, making the meal even more enjoyable.
Apart from the food, the service was quick, and the staff were polite and attentive. The ambiance was simple but comfortable, giving more focus to the food quality.
Overall, it was an awesome experience – tasty food, reasonable pricing, and a place I’d definitely recommend to anyone visiting Alappuzha. Looking forward to trying more dishes from their menu next time!

Really, really need to improve food quality and taste. We visited for breakfast and ordered a masala dosa, scrambled eggs and bread butter. The dosa had suspiciously red filling, sweetish in taste, while the scrambled eggs were put on a wet plate and had absorbed water, making them soggy. No salt or pepper put on the eggs. Ordered lemon tea after, and were served black tea with lemon on the side. Very bad experience.
In the era of fancy cafes, this place is very authentic and still maintains its vibe, there are very few places like this, very reasonable prices. Loved the coffee.
I had an egg curry which I felt was mediocre. Service was laid back. The biryani looked popular as a lot of people were having it. Generally okay but I’ve been to better Indian coffee houses.

It’s a nice place but food is very ok ok, I expected better food as icf is like a chain. We tried dosa, vada , tea and the cutlet.
The cutlets was good.
Also the masala dosa was a bit weird with red filling, normally it’s the yellow potato filling. Wouldn’t recommend it

this is one of the most popular restaurants in Alappuzha. The biryani here has a very different taste compared to what you usually find. Don’t expect the Malabar-style biryani . The rice has a unique flavor and felt slightly salty. The chicken comes in two types: one fried piece and another cooked in gravy. The quantity is generous, so if you’re visiting for the first time, I’d recommend ordering just one biryani to try it out before deciding on more.
On the positive side, the Dynamite Prawns were excellent the sauce was very flavorful and tasty. However, the mutton soup was disappointing. It arrived very late, was too thick, and the broth had an unusual flavor that wasn’t pleasant.
Overall, it’s worth trying for the unique biryani and especially the Dynamite Prawns, but don’t expect the usual Malabar or Hyderabad biryani taste.
Halais Restaurant is definitely a good spot for biriyani lovers – the biriyani here was absolutely delicious, rich in flavor and perfectly cooked. The Milo shake was also tasty, though a bit disappointing since half the glass was filled with ice cubes 🥲.
One drawback we faced was the service. The waiters seemed a bit arrogant – they brought additional items to our table claiming we had ordered them, and even when we pointed out the mistake, they did not accept their fault. This left us with a slightly unpleasant impression.
That said, if you’re going mainly for the food, especially the biriyani, it’s worth a visit. A little improvement in service would make the overall experience so much better.
Halais is one if the best choices for biryani in Alappuzha. I often have biryani from halais and till now they have maintained that great flavour. Must try!

During our recent visit , we tried their Chicken Biryani, which is known to be one of their signature dishes—and it truly lived up to the reputation.
The biryani was served with one fried chicken piece and another tender, gravy-coated piece, along with a few smaller chunks soaked in flavorful gravy. The rice was well-cooked, aromatic, and complemented perfectly by the accompaniments—salad, pappad, and their special lemon dates pickle, which added a delightful sweet-tangy twist to the meal.
The Chicken Biryani, priced at ₹230, offered good value considering the portion and taste. We also tried their beverages: Fresh Lime (₹30) and Pineapple Lime (₹60)—both refreshing and a great addition to the meal.
Another highlight was the staff service, which was prompt, courteous, and definitely worth appreciating.
Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience, especially for biryani lovers.

If you are looking for a good spot to have awesome coffee - don‘t look any further! I know it can be hard to find good coffee on India, they use an Italian espresso machine and the coffee is so good! On top of that the barista Raul is such a nice guy and the ambience right at the water is just lovely. 100% recommended!
Best coffee in Allepey! They make a really good Espresso, but also the shakes and lassies are really good!! After we've found this place we came here back every day and had good time with Rahul who also gave us some good information about our upcoming trip plannings. Also he is the right person if you want to do a boat trip into the Backwaters (little local company with so friendly staff!!).
Oh..and don't leave without tasting the gingerhoneylemon tea here!!
This is the best coffee shop in Alleppey. Rahul is a great guy and expert barrister. He uses a very good Italian made espresso machine. I know of only 1 other in the area. You will get drip coffee other places. He has food as well. I have included a menu.
Had a lovely and leisurely breakfast here. Good coffee and laid back atmosphere. Rahul was really personable and helpful. We booked a boat ride with him afterwards and enjoyed the afternoon. Located on the side of the road, right by the place to catch a riverboat trip. Only real coffee around!

One of the best in south india. We have been traveling for more than two weeks in south India and it was so hard to find a good cafe with great food and drinks like cappuccino in a reasonable price. But, this place offers a great menu with a very high quality foods and drinks. Finally, the staff are so nice and friendly. Highly recommend to go and experience it.

Complaint:
I ordered a Hyderabad Chicken Biryani, but what I received was the worst biryani ever — plain white rice with barely any flavor or masala. When I called the restaurant to raise the issue, the person was extremely rude and claimed “this is what Hyderabad Chicken Biryani is.”
This is completely unacceptable. @Zomato, please review and take action against such restaurants. You’re promoting and taking margins from these cheap, low-quality outlets, and at the end of the day, customers like us are the ones suffering.

I frequently enjoy evening tea from this place. However, I recommend avoiding the Boost and Horlicks here, as they tend to serve just milk without the proper powder mix.
The food is good. We ordered chicken dum biriyani which was so delicious. The service is also good. Parking issues and the ongoing highway maintenance in the front of the hotel are the main drawbacks. The ambience can also be made better.

😡 Disappointing Service and Unprofessional Staff
I ordered a meal for home delivery from Thaff Restaurant Paravoor, Alappuzha. I specifically requested delivery after 2:00 PM.
When the meal had not arrived by 2:15 PM, I called the restaurant to follow up on my order. The staff member who answered the phone immediately became aggressive and shouted at me.
He completely misrepresented our initial conversation, loudly claiming that I had demanded that the delivery would only be sent after I called him. This was a complete lie and an attempt to shift blame.
The staff member was unprofessional, shouted at a customer, and grossly misbehaved. This unacceptable level of service ruined the experience. While I can't comment on the food, the appalling customer service I received makes me strongly advise others to reconsider ordering from here. The management needs to address this staff member's hostile behavior immediately.

Very bad experience with chicken Mandi.
Meat not cooked, even the chichen skin appears row. Rice too was very bad. I had some stomach issues after that.

Definitely a nice spot if you’re craving a satisfying biryani, though there’s room to make it even more memorable.

I found this restaurant through google map and decided to give it a try and thanks to that i discovered this gem.
The food is simply delicious. The spice balance was just right and the quantity or portion is more than enough. proper hygiene was maintained throughout and staff were efficient.

Let's start with the starters - the Loaded Cheesy Chicken was a hit! 🧀🐓 The cheesy flavor was perfect, and it was nicely cooked.
For the main course, we ordered a spread that included:
- Butter Naan: Soft, flaky, and flavorful, perfect for scooping up sauces.
- Murgh Tikka: Tender and juicy chicken, marinated to perfection and grilled to a nice char.
- Chicken Kebab: Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor.
- Humus: Creamy and rich, with a nice balance of spices.
- BDF (Beef Dry Fry): A flavorful beef dish, nicely spiced and fried to perfection.

The quality and quantity of the food is very good. The interior ambience is very beautiful. The food is very tasty. There is a wide variety of food items available, from which one can choose according to their preference. We had Arabian style Al-Faham and Fish Sizzler here for lunch, and both were very good. And for dinner at night, we go there again and took Kerala Paratha, Noor Paratha, and Butter Al-Faham as a takeaway (parcel). It is very close to Alleppey Beach, just 2 to 3 km only.
It’s hard to put into words how exceptional both the food and the service were at this restaurant. We’re genuinely sorry we discovered this gem only on the last day of our trip. We had the Elayil Prawns Thengapal and the Naymeen Tengapal, and before that the Kayal Chemeen soup — and it’s honestly difficult to say which one was better. Each dish was outstanding in its own way. Highly recommended!

We ordered a prawn and fish dish attached photos for reference, it was not wow or amazing. It wasn't overall that great since most dishes weren't satisfactory, it's not that it wasn't fresh or tasted really bad. It just wasn't good enough. Expected better.
A bit hesitant at first given they serve multiple types of cuisines, we mainly had Indian food and it was so good - chicken was very tender, and the parathas were so delicious. Didnt get a photo but the Arabic cheese Kunafa for dessert is a must try - it was just so tasty I couldnt have enough of it. The portion is quite big though so definitely recommend sharing
One of the best restaurants in Allepey. I almost ate everyday for the days I was there. The nal parotha, Malabar curry, the hummus pita and the prawns dynamite was really really good. I almost ate nal parota everyday. The soup had a different take which was served in a crusted bread. Highly recommend this!

We recently visited this restaurant. We were looking for a nice family restaurant on our way to Trivandrum, and we suddenly came across this place. First of all, there is plenty of parking available, and the interiors are quite nice, air-conditioned with lots of seating. We ordered the Chamba Putta along with freshly prepared Appam, Porotta. To pair with we ordered egg roast and beef curry. The egg roast has two eggs, which is enough for two people, and the beef curry was tasty. The Porotta was fluffy, soft. But the Appam though crispy was very light, while the puttu was not that great, felt a bit dry. Still, it was a nice dining experience. The washrooms were maintained clean.
Good place and location. The banana fury had got some essence flavour . Coffee is just ok . Service was slow. This was felt by at least 4-5families there. Probably they were tired after much service. The staff are not experienced. They keep forgetting orders and lacked continuity. This made the dining experience less than what we hoped
A nice place at the next location to enjoy great food with your family. The location is easy to access. We had appam and biryani. They had great tea and coffee too. Another thing that makes this place special is the snacks they sell. Murukku was great and kids loved it.

You can't miss spotting this place with its massive Puttu Kutti replica sported in the front. It has sort of become a landmark in the area. They are famous for their in house breakfast mixes and batters and have their own vegetable and mushroom cultivation. The ambience is just pure Alappuzha magic, with all the art works and installations inside augmenting the authentic vibes that the place offers.
They offer a wide array of food choices and can't miss their Paalappam!! We ordered palappam, kallappam, chicken stew and egg roast and tea. Usually on each table it's a water bottle that we find in other restaurants. But they had opted instead to furnish each table with a bottle of their hand made milk muruku. The water they served in the glasses was in itself a digestion booster, flavoured with soothing nutmeg and undertones of other spices. The paalappams were stars on their own and that egg roast, though small in portion size is still big enough as each serving comes with two eggs. The chicken stew was a bit thin and salty and didn't quite hit the spot. Though that was a let down, and it was still better stew many others I've had. The kallappam though was a real disappointment as it tastes of raw rice flour, not properly fermented. That I did not enjoy one bit. But everything else, to the staff to the ambience is very welcoming and the place is spotless and inviting. Even the bathrooms were squeaky clean.
There is a special aisle towards the side of the reception for all their snacks, goodies, batters, mixes and powders.
Another fun element was the small patch of vegetable and fruit garden and air pots outside with wonderful citrus plants showing off their well shaping and wonderfully developing fruits. That was a sight to watch.
First of all, the welcome was not pleasant. One of the staff members, with a rude attitude, asked me to move to the other side because they were cleaning that area. It was said in an unfriendly tone and without any welcoming approach.

Aves Puttu House is a really good restaurant with tasty food and great service. The main highlight here is the variety of Puttu items, which are fresh and delicious. The place is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly too. A perfect spot for Puttu lovers to enjoy authentic flavors.

Overall it was okay and the restaurant staff apologize for the rubbery beef in steak and offered to replace it as well. But we didn't opt for it. Overall experience was decent. You have parking opposite to the restaurant they will reimburse you the parking amount.
Great to find this little gem.in the back streets of Alleppey. There is only so much curry a European can eat in 3 weeks so a refreshing change to get some good old burgers wings and American style food. Spotless clean , friendly. No alcohol shame as would have been great with a cold beer.

A really nice place to hang out with friends and enjoy burgers, pasta, steak and more, if you're alone still don't worry they got a decent collection of books too,you can enjoy that too with their food. Service and behaviour towards the customer is also highlight of the spot, ambients and hygiene also have a great role. Me and my friends surely visit again. Visited the shop to try their signature dishes, due to the pandemic situation I opted for takeaway instead of dining. The cafe is managed by some.youngsters I think, but well managed and proper monitoring of all the departments

Authentic Lip Smacking South Indian Food but not that Great North Indian Food
The worst thing about Kerala is the availability of Vegetarian Food, while there are few options of Pure Vegetarian restaurants the food served everywhere is not that great. This restaurant is serving amazing Authentic South Indian food and that to very cheap.
Things you need to know about this Kitchen
-Serves Pure Vegetarian Food
-Serves North Indian Food which is not that great
-They give you ayurvedic water to drink which is bit warm and pink in colour don't misunderstand it to be dirty
- The food is very cheap, they serve unlimited Thali/complete meal including Rice/Kerala Rice, 2 Vegetables, Sambar, Rasam, Papad, Pickle, Kadi, Curd, Paysam(Sweet) and some Chutney i don't know the name. All this for only Rs. 60 or for Foreigners less than 1 US Dollar. But please note this is only available till 12:30 PM not in the evening.
- In evening you only get Idli, Dosa and North Indian Vegetables and Paratha etc.
You need to keep in mind that if you want to have good North Indian food either have it in a Non Vegetarian restaurants or have a bad in tasting food in Vegetarian Restaurants.
So what do you eat in Kerala if you are vegetarian?
Go for the local South Indian Vegetarian Food it is best.
Only place I found some decent Veg food. After few weeks I'm in Alappey, I was craving not rice which is not boiled rice. 4 star just because it's the only decent place for Vegetarians. Management should work a lot on hygiene though.
Read the reviews here and decided to have a go. Must say they are quite service oriented with a good taste. Cons are no AC fitted here, some say post GST effect. North Indians can find their vegetarian delicacies here. Overall way better than ICH next door.
There are only 2 pure vegetarian restaurants in Allapuzza/ Alleppey for typical vegans who prefer pure vegetarian restaurants.
One pure vegetarian restaurant being "Aryan Veg" & another "Hot Kitchen"
From my experience and visit I found " Hotel Hot Kitchen" very relishing, hygienic in comparison. But this hotel/ restaurant is on a narrow streets and there is no drive in. Parking 4 wheeler may be difficult.
Really delicious, fresh vegetarian meals - my favourites being channa masala and gobi manchurian!
Came here at least five times while visiting alappuzha . Service is quick and prompt and prices are good. A meal for 2 was around 150-250 (based on our order) rupees depending on what we had.
Check their serving times though - we came at 12 and were told lunch didnt start until 1. At 1, we tried to order curries and chapattis but were told we could only have the kerala lunch set meal. We had to wait until 1.30 to order anything else, so its probably best to come after this time! The food is worth it, especially if you're veggie.
Also try the fresh mosambi juice.
Highly value for money is it's USP.
Masala dosa tasted fine. Sambar was okay while nariyal chutney was good.
Alu Gobhi Masala had the Kerala touch and I loved it while my wife felt it to be just good but nothing wow. We had chapatis with it which could have been better (bit crispy for a chapati)

We went to the Indian Coffee House before going here. Thanks to the pathetic service there, we discovered Hot Kitchen's awesome food and home like hospitality. All that at a reasonable price in a hygienic environment. I recommend this place over other eateries in the vicinity.

If you love traditional stay it's preferred, The ambiance are good, They don't even provide a bathing soap, There's no car parking which is a negative, If you're are group of people wants to spend time together it's recommended. No cold/hot water provided, The blanket and bedsheets are old enough to use and not comfortable, The ceiling fan was full of dust one of my friend got dust allergy she was sneezing all night. Most of the rooms are small and in one of the room a person can barely stand and sit.
After a long day at the beaches, i wanted to go somewhere to spend sometime and relax. I read the reviews of this restaurant on google and as it was the nearest to me and this was the best option available.
I went , had banana and honey pancake along with cold coffee and it tasted great. The owner was very friendly and made me very comfortable. She is a nice lady. Would definitely recommend this place 😊
Looked like it was still under refurbishment/construction during our visit, but the style is already pretty cool. Good vibes, a great place to chill and enjoy your time and your meal. Excellent value for money. Huge compliments for the chefs. (P.S.: The toilets should be a bit more looked after, and bring a mosquito spray with you.)
The place is lovely and the atmosphere really cool. There is a beautiful garden inside. Decoration and lighting is great. The music is excellent. You just can't leave the place.

BUT, If you're a bunch of guys looking for a fine place to dine and wouldn't want your evening to get spoiled, I'd suggest you visit some other place. My friends and I came here on 12/2/2018. Once the dishes were ordered, we had to wait another hour and a half for it to arrive. (Even when no other customers were around at the time of our arrival) Once the dishes did arrive it got much worse. The Cheese pancake was near unpalatable and even the fresh lime juice was way too bitter. In short, the service and the food were nothing short of pathetic.
The service could be greatly improved upon if you treat all your customers alike just like almost all other restaurants do.
Simply loved the ambience here. This is possibly one of the prettiest cafes I've ever been. It's best to visit in the evening. You can't resist clicking pics of this place which is decorated very well with fairy lights and glow paintings

Visited Choola Restaurant at Punnamada Resort. The ambience is really nice — calm and beautifully set up, that’s definitely the main highlight.
Food was just average though. The fish roast was disappointing as the fish wasn’t fresh. Other dishes like soups, meen curry, and prawns honey chilli were good (4/5).
Prices are on the higher side — around ₹800 per person — which feels too much for the quality of food served.
Overall, great place to sit and relax, but the food and pricing don’t quite match the setting.

The view is amazing over the lake. They put rose petals over my table for my last night here and made me a masala dosa before I left! Thanks to all which has made me stay so lovely and memorable! What a lovely place tucked inside a lovely traditional Keralan style building. We arrived 30 minutes early but they let us sit early and order.

The food is top notch and the ambience is too good. Such a worth it place to just sit relax and have great food. This place has become our go to place to chill. Will def recommend it to anyone who plans to visit aleppe.

Went twice. The service is slow so if you're in a rush then maybe skip. However well worth the wait. Good coffee and French toast for breakfast. Enjoyed the fruit juices and even had a good snickers shake. But the highlight was the banana bread. My wife loves banana bread and this was easily the best we've found in Asia!

A place to visit and return to! The most hygienic eatery I've seen in Kerala! This is right next to the bypass signal in Alappuzha. Very clean and neat. The staff is diligent about cleaning and making the customers feel welcome and satisfied. We ordered tea, a coffee and a cold coffee along with an urad vada each and a pazhampori ( banana fritter) and they were really good. Though the banana slice was a very big one, the fruit itself was very ripe and sweet and tasted good. I wish it was a bit more caramelized and crispy, nevertheless it was good. The vada was also good in texture and taste. The cold coffee was excellent and so were the tea and coffee. We weren't hungry for anything substantial then and hence has only so much. The place has won awards for hygiene and variety and true to the credit everything seemed delicious and flavourful. They also have a north indian chat counter, but it opens only in the evening. They have a good amount of space in front of the restaurant as well as a bit off to the side. Combined it can accommodate a good number of vehicles. The seating space inside is also pretty good.

I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant! The menu featured a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes, and the dosas were a highlight. I ordered the Ghee Masala Dosa, while my friend opted for the Chettinad Masala Dosa – both were incredibly tasty and satisfying.
The staff were courteous, attentive, and efficient, providing prompt service throughout our meal. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast at Hotel Brothers their mutton curry, chicken curry, and fish curry were all delicious and packed with authentic flavours. The parotta and idiyappam were fresh and paired perfectly with the gravies. Loved the soft puttu topped with coconut too. A great stop for traditional Kerala food!
Visited this place after hearing about it a lot. We tried the regular fish meals with additional stuff like karimeen fry, podimeen fry and chicken roast. The meals were just amazing. The avial and cabbage thoran were prepared perfectly like at home. Fish curry was also good with generous pieces of fish thrown in. Karimeen fry was prepared fresh as per order though it was more oily than we expected.
Parking will be an issue during peak hours.
About the service - it's just very informal and casual. They don't even give a menu. Don't expect any professional behaviour from staff like high end restaurants. But they get the job done. They are not polite talking but don't mistake it for rudeness.
We recently visited this historic hotel, which was evident from the photos of celebrities on the walls - it added to the charm! The Kerala meal was perfect, with all the traditional curries tasting just right. The 4 thorans and sambar, along with the delicious meen curry, were highlights. We also ordered 2 fries - neeymeen and kilimeen - which were tasty. However, the total bill of ₹740 (including tax) felt a bit steep. Despite that, the food was 'on point' and worth considering for a special occasion."
Had Idiyappam and Egg Roast. The food was superb. Enough quantity. Service was also good enough. I feel the wash area and washrooms need to get refurbished. That's not up to the mark of the legacy of this hotel.

Ordered biriyani & meals for lunch. Lunch was good with lots of side dishes & even fish curry.
But biriyani I'll never recommend, there wasn't even any flavour to it, just rice and meat soaked in masala. Price was very reasonable but the taste wasn't good.
The parotta tasted good, but I had ordered egg curry. However, the bill mentioned egg roast. This hotel seems to be run by fools who don’t know the difference between the two. Moreover, the egg was stale.

Visited Hotel Aryaa's Alappuzha, eager to explore their vegetarian cuisine. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with a smile and seated at a neat table, setting a positive tone for our dining experience.
The food was a highlight, with the Ghee roast, Chilli parata, and coffee being particularly delicious. Our server was attentive, ensuring our needs were met throughout the meal. However, we noticed some areas for improvement. Notably, no menu was provided, and the restaurant experienced a brief power outage, leaving us dining without lights and fans for approximately five minutes.
Unfortunately, our experience was marred by several issues. The interior cleanliness was lacking, with visible dust accumulation on the ceilings. Moreover, we observed our server interacting rudely with another table of guests, pressuring them to order quickly due to the impending kitchen closure. This behavior was unprofessional and unwarranted.
The most disappointing aspect, however, was the billing process. Our server presented the bill without inquiring if we desired additional items, such as desserts or snacks. Furthermore, he explicitly requested a cash payment, including a tip. When I opted for digital payment, he persistently asked for a tip, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.
To improve, Hotel Aryaa's management should focus on providing menus, ensuring electricity backup, enhancing interior cleanliness, and training staff on respectful communication. Most importantly, educate staff that tips are voluntary, not mandatory.
Despite these shortcomings, the food quality was satisfactory. We plan to revisit Hotel Aryaa's when passing through Alappuzha, hoping that necessary improvements will be made to enhance the overall dining experience.

I tried their masala dosa with vada. Dosa was good, vada average. They served 2 chutneys + sambar and refilled them. Coconut chutney and sambar were nice, but the other chutney wasn’t great. Staff weren’t very responsive. Price was ₹101.

Just now visited this restaurant for lunch. I’m a Tamil girl living in alleppey. I was craving for some Tamil food and yet the reviews were mixed, I decided to have lunch here. First of all, I waited for a long time to give my order. The restaurant was fully packed and many were having meals, so nobody came to take my order. Finally got my food, chilly parotta. The food was good. But I couldn’t finish it, and hence asked for a parcel of the leftover which again took so much time. Even after the upi payment, I waited to confirm it with the cashier for which he nodded like my school principal. Overall the ambience and food is okay but the service is pathetic.
Had meals for lunch here. Food is really tasty and fresh. Service is ok, but the atmosphere is a bit noisy.

Had lunch today . Food was not much hot. We ordered porotta chapathi alfarm mandi gobi manchurian. Out of this only porotta and gobi was hot . Ambiance also need correction .
We visited Tazha for the first time with our family and reached by 8:45 pm on October 1st 2025. After waiting for 45 minutes, we finally managed to get a table, but no one from the staff assisted us during this time.
At around 9:30 pm, when we requested food, we were informed that most of the breads like garlic naan, tandoori roti, and rumali roti were out of stock. The only options left were readymade rotis from a local vendor and porotta. We were never informed about this beforehand, and since bread is an essential part of the dishes we ordered, this was very disappointing.
When I raised a complaint to the owner, who was at the billing counter, he did not even bother to listen. Instead of addressing the issue, he directed me towards the regular staff, who simply said it was not their responsibility. This response was extremely rude, and many customers noticed the lack of courtesy from the owner. Rather than solving the problem, they seemed more interested in pushing the responsibility on others.
Finally, when the food arrived, the quality was very ordinary. The butter naan we received was hard and rubbery. Overall, our evening was completely ruined due to poor service, unprofessional behavior from the management, and below-average food quality.
Just had beef mandhi from Thaza, and I swear it was one of the worst meals I’ve ever had in my life.
The food was disgusting, the glass they gave for water was full of fingerprints and dirt, and the beef they served is pathetic — just pathetic scraps.
And the worst part? Flies. The moment they served the food, a whole swarm of flies came and sat on the plate. Absolutely unhygienic and sickening.
I seriously have no idea why they even opened a restaurant if they can’t maintain basic cleanliness or serve edible food.
Paid ₹210 for this trash. Honestly, even if they gave it for free, I wouldn’t touch it — not even if I were dying of hunger.

The food delightful, the servers are quite attentive, and the interiors amazing. They have modified their interiors and it gives a nice vibe of Alappuzha. Great taste and pleasant ambience. They do not take much time to deliver and the food is served hot and fresh. Prices are outstanding! Portion sizes are really good!
Those wishing to explore unique dish called 'Baadiya' which is available as two restaurants in Alappuzha, Thaza is one among and another Sheikh Junction (Here dinning is not available). Baadiya is a type of Al Faham that is marinated with a single masala served with Porota or Kubus.

It is a pleasant place where you can sit in the AC room and enjoy your meal comfortably during the day. The food is reasonably priced and while the service has a few points to improve it works well when you need a quick bite or a simple dining option.
Even though a bigger restaurant like Halais is nearby I have noticed that its crowd never really affects this place which is why I often come here whenever we need food quickly or in an emergency. I personally like their biriyani which is not over the top but taste good and many times they surprise me with their taste.👍👍
Very Unprofessional and Disappointing Experience!
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. I ordered Baadhiya, which is traditionally served with Kerala Porotta or Kubbus — that’s how it’s meant to be. But the management rudely insisted it would only be served with Mandhi rice because “that’s all that’s available.” No prior mention, no option to choose, and zero flexibility.
Instead of politely informing or offering an alternative, they chose to argue and act like they were doing me a favor. It’s absolutely ridiculous to force a customer to eat something that doesn’t go with the dish — especially when it’s common sense in any decent restaurant.
This place clearly lacks proper service, basic courtesy, and respect for customers. I’ll never visit again, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values their time, taste, or money.

Seashore Homely Stay is a great place to stay if you're looking for an affordable option close to the beach. The view from the property is beautiful, and the management is friendly and helpful. It's also well-maintained, with plenty of room and comfortable beds. Aunty Safeena makes some delicious food, and the surroundings are homely and welcoming.
Exceptional food and service. Most polite and hospitable people I’ve met so far! My partner and I had been travelling the whole day and it was hot and we were craving for a parotta and chicken curry. The restaurant was almost closing and didn’t have any material for parotta left but they still prepared a delicious and scrumptious chicken curry FROM SCRATCH- enough for the two of us and arrange parotta from a nearby hotel. 12/10 would recommend going there.
Apart from the food, service and the view, we met a beautiful and friendly cat there which made my experience even better. ❤️

WARNING: NOT LIKE THE PHOTOS ON HOSTEL WORLD! SEE PHOTOS I’VE POSTED. We arrived to the hostel and found no one in the front lobby. I had to walk deep into the messy kitchen to find someone, who told me that the person that could help me wasn’t there so I had to walk around the building and to the back to find someone who could show us to our room. They showed us our room immediately. It was not like the pictures. The FAN WAS COVERED IN BLACK MOULD, more than I’ve ever seen. The bed SHEET HAD STAINS AND HOLES all over it, and the bed was rock hard. The path to get back to where I finally found someone to greet us smelled of urine. The lobby of the sleeping area was abandoned and had clothes and dirt all over. We immediately decided to leave and find something better. We walked down the street to Lemon Dew Beach house and it was amazing for pretty much the same price (1000 rupees for sea shore vs 1300 rupees for lemon dew). Really not sure how this got 8.8 on Hostelworld.
Didn’t stay here but the food is amazing this was literally the best veg thali I’ve had in India - super cheap as well! If you are here don’t skip this place for lunch 10/10 recommend. Also the lady who runs the place is super lovely!
Great food! The whole family is very sweet. We didn’t actually stay at the property but next time we’ll definitely stay here. Right on the beach. Great vibes. Trying the Thalis is a must. The hosts are very generous and you will experience an authentic taste of Kerala when you stay here.

They invited us in the restaurant kitchen and kindly explained everything. The experience and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend to follow a cooking class here if you like a homely class!

It was mostly empty when we went in for dinner. They don't have a printed menu. Ordered one chicken kathi roll and one lemon soda. Kathi roll didn't have egg layer which is the staple, otherwise it was decent.
They have parking for 3-4 cars outside.

We went to this restaurant because of the good reviews it had on Google and we were not wrong. Delicious food at a good price, fantastic attention from all the staff. In fact we repeated and returned the next day.
The food was very spicy. We had the fried rice, a roll, beef stew and garlic chicken.

Recently we happened to visit The Ocean Kitchen at Lake Palace. Staffs were very welcoming and friendly specially Manoj, Saidul, Izhak and Aseef. Food was equally amazing and had great dining experience including the atmosphere. We would love to come back and would recommend to others.
What a wonderfully satisfying meal that was! It was our first day at the 5 star Sterling Lake Palace in Alleppey, Kerala and all we did was inform the banquet manager, Mr. Aseef, of our meal preferences. And voila - there was a feast before us. From fried seer fish and mango fish curry to avial, sambar and papad, among others, the fish thali served at the waterfront restaurant was fabulous and much more than we hoped for. I had an amazing food experience at Smitha Hotel. It was a real feast with delicious dishes like Kakka Fry, Karimeen Fry, Chembali Fry, and Kera Curry – each one cooked to perfection with authentic local flavors. The taste was simply outstanding and reminded me of true Kerala style cooking.
If you’re in Alleppey and want to enjoy fresh, flavorful seafood at its best, I highly recommend Smitha Hotel. A must-visit for food lovers!

During lunch time, the rush is heavy on most days and you will have to wait for some time to get a seat. When compared to posh restaurants, the rates are amazingly cheap. People with very high standards may not like the environment, but once you taste the food, you will really love this place. I have visited this place on many occasions and had varieties of food. Please who can adjust with the limited facilities here can taste the natural food here. The hotel can improve a lot and make the place more attractive.
I've been visiting this place since many years, taste and service never changed. Fish curry and fry is most served, minimum 10 different fish is served here everyday. Please don't expect a high priced 5star facilitated venue, but low rated freshly cooked friendly restaurant.

Was looking for dosa and I was suggested this place.. food was pretty average and was not at all satisfying... It was served cold...the chutney which was already there in the table in metal jar was dry and thick.. sambar was also not tasting good... Had their special omlet which was also not special.. many have suggested this place... May be I ended up on a not a right day..

I tried their masala dosa and vada – both excellent. Served 2 chutneys + sambar, and the red chutney was outstanding. Though no refill, portion was sufficient.
Also tried their Butter Masala Dosa and Ghee Podi Masala Dosa – both were delicious 😋. Minimalistic place, but the dosas had repeat value.

Chilla Art Cafe, Old Picnic Spot has a very special ambience that one cannot see in any other resort or restaurant or cafe.
Had a very light lunch here on Monday. The place felt a bit off at first since we were the only ones there — maybe it’s busier during peak hours. The vibe seemed more suited for people looking to hang out and smoke rather than just have a meal. Wouldn’t really recommend it if you’re just stopping by for food.
The food was not at all what I expected it to be. Below average taste and prices are very high. The noodles were burnt, the parotta chicken was very weird to taste, and the prawns were undercooked. The fish fry was the only good thing but it was Rs 800, this wasn't mentioned in the menu. Taste was good but definitely not worth 800. The drink tasted like a medicine drink, it was terrible. We also had to wait around 30 mins, and there were only 3-4 occupied tables at that time, so don't know why so much delay.
Only good thing is that the ambience is nice. Still there were many dirty tables and the fan was not working in one place.

Finger licking pizza and has an authentic taste. The base was so soft and squishy , that it completely ruined the shape.

Me and my husband had an absolutely amazing dining experience here today! We ordered the non-veg meals, and honestly, I lost count of how many delightful dishes were served — chicken, fish, egg, and a variety of flavorful veg sides like aviyal, vizhuku, thoran, kootu curry, sambar, moru curry, unakka meen curry, pavakka theeyal, egg thoran, payasam, pazham, and many more — all beautifully served on a banana leaf.
The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, greeting us with genuine smiles and unmatched hospitality. They kept serving the curries again and again, never hesitating, until we had to say “enough!” several times — all with such kindness and love. 💛
The meal was not only authentic and delicious but also very reasonably priced.
Even though the bathroom was a bit old, it was clean and well maintained — which shows how much they care about hygiene and customer comfort.

We recently dined at Sea Grill Restaurant and tried a variety of their meals, including the Chemballi Vazhayilayil Pollichath and Netholi Fry. The food was quite satisfactory, with authentic flavors that seafood lovers would enjoy. The Chemballi in banana leaf had a nice smoky aroma and was cooked well, while the Netholi fry was crispy and well-seasoned.
However, the service left room for improvement. The staff seemed overwhelmed and busy, and it was difficult to get their attention. We were trying to place another order but were overlooked for quite a while. It also took around 10 minutes just to get our bill, which made the overall experience less smooth.
In terms of pricing, we felt it was slightly on the higher side, especially considering the level of service. However, the convenient location near the highway and the availability of parking add to the overall appeal of the restaurant.

When I called to report the issue, the staff refused to accept their mistake and failed to address the complaint. Very calm and beautiful place with superb service and food. One of the finest resorts in south india. But reaching to this place is a challenge as its nearly 3 hrs far from Cochin Airport. The resort is connected to backwaters and has sunset cruise, traditional music shows etc. Its super expensive though. Room rent can easily cross 30k per night with complimentary breakfast and 2.5k lunch buffet per person.

An Upmarket Resort located in the lake offering an excellent ambiance. Can match any 5 Star resort or more . The theme is based in traditional Kerala type of villas, made of timber and antique fixtures like switches dating back to the 60's . Don't know where they sources them though.

A wonderful oasis of peace and beauty on Lake Vembanad. The staff is attentive, courteous and efficient. We stayed in the Villas and found them to be private and very comfortable. While the resort is relatively small, and venturing outside on foot is not necessarily a given, there are plenty of activities in the resort available to keep busy. Guests can enjoy yoga, massages, cruises and swimming. The food is varied and excellent with a wide variety of vegetarian, meat and fish options. There are also many choices of salads and desserts.

A great advantage of this hotel is the big parking space. Rating 4 star just because the wash rooms were not clean. Looks like they clean it only once in a day. Fathima's Nightstay Houseboat is a popular juice and falooda center situated in the heart of Alappuzha City. It offers an extensive range of juices, milkshakes, stone ice creams, sandwiches, and pizzas. The place tends to get crowded during the evening hours, especially in summer. While it lacks traditional restaurant seating arrangements, its unique offerings attract a steady stream of customers.
This is predominantly a juice & falooda center and its located at the heart of Alappuzha City. The best part is they serve a wide variety of juices, milk shakes etc. They don't have restaurant like seating arrangements and the place usually gets crowded during the evening hours and one would find it difficult to find a place to stand as well. If it happens to be a summer season, then the crowd is too much and the staff would be having a good business as well. So in case you happen to be in Alappuzha Coir City, then do try this place at least once. In case of summer, do try out their mango juice\milk shakes.

Dont have customer loyalty and trust! First time i went there it was ok! But the second time I Had a "Fruit Basket". Asked the guy whether it is like Fruit Salad and he told, yes! After that only i came to know its a shake! Dark pink color! It was too horrible! I asked them about it and told put the coloring liquid bit more!!! Dislike!

It's one of the first of it's kind shop it allapuzha. Their stone ice creams are amazing and really cost effective compared to other brands. They still have to improve on recepies and are open to suggestion and ideas.

Well maintained, neat and clean. We had chicken burger, double cheese potato veg sandwich with pine apple juice. Food was served hot along with french fries and it was delicious. Good ambience and they got this little aquarium inside which attracts the kids as well. All sorts of western fast foods are available with different varieties of latte, chai and juices. Definitely a good one. Price is affordable for two.

We ordered Bbq chicken burger and chicken fried rice. Both were tasty. Currently they don't have dine in facility but there are two seats outside the cafe so you can have your food there also. Tea was also good.

As the name suggests puttum kattanum offers wide variety of puttu dishes like puttu biriyani irachi putt etc. It is also available at late night preferably after second show as it is situated near to two theatres. We could also find variety of snacks during tea time. Only problem is that limited parking for two wheelers is only available option, it is situated right in the general hospital junction beside the signal hard to find a four wheeler parking spot near to it. Seating is pretty limited also its hot inside

It’s a budget friendly restaurant where we get kerala naadan foods especially their puttu,chicken kondattam and biriyani chaaya is very tasty and popular,parking is difficult and is near to roadside.seating capacity is also small but their drawings on wall is nice.

Let's start with the positives: the food at Puttum Kattanum was enjoyable. The flavors were well-balanced, and I appreciated the quality of the ingredients used. The dishes I ordered were tasty and satisfying, which is the primary reason for my three-star rating.
However, the ambiance of the restaurant was rather average. It lacked the charm or unique elements that could have elevated the dining experience. The decor seemed outdated and could benefit from some refreshing touches. It didn't detract significantly from the meal, but it didn't add any positive points either.
One major downside was the lack of parking availability. It was inconvenient to struggle with finding a parking spot nearby, which added unnecessary hassle to the visit. It would be helpful if the restaurant could address this issue to enhance the overall customer experience.
Unfortunately, my dining experience was dampened by an incident involving one of the staff members. While I was eating, an employee washed his hands and accidentally spilled water on the bowl I was using. Although I pointed out the mishap, the staff member left with a smile, which gave the impression that it was not taken seriously. This kind of behavior is disappointing and tarnishes the overall impression of the restaurant.
In conclusion, Puttum Kattanum restaurant offers good food, but the overall experience fell short. The average ambiance and lack of parking options were notable drawbacks. Additionally, the incident with the staff member was handled poorly, leaving me with a negative impression. I hope the restaurant takes these points into consideration and works towards improving the overall customer experience in the future.

Indian restaurant
One of the best vegetarian restaurant in Alleppey according to me. They serve authentic gujarati meal and dishes. Foods were amazing and delicious. The price is little high compare to other restaurant, but the dining experience, food quantity and taste will tell you that the price is justified. Staffs were very friendly and helpful. They were responding very fast. And there is nothing to complaint about the ambience as it is very much family friendly. Overall a great dining experience. Would recommend anyone.

Mahaveer Vegetarian restaurant in Alappuzha, located near the boat jetty, is known for serving good quality food at reasonable prices. It’s a popular spot for travelers. The ambiance is simple and functional, catering mostly to locals and tourists who come for the nearby backwater experiences.
Food is very tasty and place is also higiene.
Rates are not reasonable. Charge more for curries and quantity less. Roti prices are high. Complaining to concern food inspector of that area. In fact most of North Indian hotels charging more. Roti why they charging that much.

Service was excellent by all the servers (were flexible).
However, atmosphere must be improved.
Prices are high as this could possibly be the only veg North Indian restaurant.

Really the food quality and taste are all good but cigarette and alcohol smell are there. Must avoid it for the sake of family. Parking is good. Staffs are very less to take order and serve. Took min 20 - 30 min to serve.
