Ski & Snowboard Areas
Kronplatz is a stunning mountain area that offers a ski resort, hiking trails, and various amenities such as accommodation, dining, and shopping options. Visitors can explore attractions like Bruneck Castle with the Messner Mountain Museum Ripa or enjoy outdoor activities like mountain tours in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Dolomites or skiing on the slopes of Kronplatz. The area also features wellness facilities including sauna areas, hot whirlpools, relaxation rooms, and modern gyms for relaxation after adventurous days.
The slopes are exceptionally well-prepared! The mobile app is excellent and user-friendly, and there’s a great variety of lifts, including gondolas and chairlifts of all types. You’ll find plenty of restaurants both at the base and at the peaks, catering to every need. The slopes offer a wide range of difficulty levels, from easy and relaxed runs to highly challenging ones. Even though the number of visitors can be quite high, there’s more than enough space for everyone to enjoy. In the rare case of an incident, the on-site help and medical teams operate efficiently, with snowmobiles ready to assist and ensure you’re covered. Highly recommended!

Awesome. Not much snow right now but still amazing. Modern lifts, and great slopes. 10/10 totally recommend. Its great for beginner and advanced skiers/snowboarders. It has a slope for everyone.

Easy to park, (go early though). Straightforward board/ski's and boot hire, nice coffee area serving food also. Lifts quick and head to some excellent Black, Blue and Red runs. Pretty good snow covering but changes weekly and they operate snow making machines from base to the top of the slopes. Good food and drink at the top with the addition of the Museum and Photography exhibitions, which were very good especially if your into Photography. Really enjoyed my stay and the Snowboarding.
Bill T — Google review
It’s probably the best ski resort I’ve been to. Amazing red and black slopes and superb wide blue ones. Almost all lifts leading to the same mountain top. Literally there’s no slope you’d think is not worth skiing again. It’s a place where you don’t waste time moving from one area to another. You have it all in one place. A bit on the downside is that most lifts are gondolas, so constant strapping and unstrapping of bindings but beyond that it’s simply the best of all places I’ve skied in.
Alexander V — Google review
I've been coming here for 10 years and this place never disappoints! The fake snow is great quality and the slopes are prepared well daily. Lots of great dining options available throughout the mountain. Some fun jump parks and timed skislope races where you also have access to a recording of yourself at no cost!
Richard F — Google review
I enjoyed the ski, even if the temperature was a bit too high and the snow already bad at 11. I do not give 5 stars (even if the place is very very good) because there are a lot of cable cars and you have to remove a lot of time your ski. Surely it is good when weather is not good or windy, but in general I think I’ve removed my ski 20 times…..
Manucsn — Google review
Great place for skiing, snowboard. Definitely can recommend and will return.

Beautiful ski resort with state of the art groomed slopes and lifts. Great for families!

Messner Mountain Museum Ripa is located in the lower courtyard of a 13th-century castle, Brunico Castle. It is one of six museums dedicated to exploring mountainous environments and their relationship with humankind. The museum focuses on the cultures of mountain civilizations from Asia, Africa, South America, and Europe. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of Sherpas, Tibetans, Indios, and Mongolians while learning about the history and culture of these regions.
As all of his museums, this is a spectacular location, showcasing an impressive collection and artwork on mountain people. It is fascinating to draw parallels between different cultures that are united by their life in mountainous regions.
Stephanie H — Google review
Ripa is an interesting museum featuring ancient relics that belonged to mountain nomad tribes from all over the world. However, the organization of the rooms is confusing, mixing continents, countries, tribes, etc... There is hardly any logic or sub themes behind the majority of the museum rooms; it almost feels likt they were randomly arranged. There is also poor displaying, such as objects and paintings placed in the dark, with no illumination whatsoever. Also, there is hardly any audiovisual content...
Marta S — Google review
I’ve visited this museum twice over the past few months and even the second time I discovered new things that I missed the first time - there really is so much to explore!! I’d say if you want to properly see and appreciate everything that this wonderful museum has to offer, you’ll need about 2.5 hours (maybe even more). It’s so beautifully well laid out and as well as predominantly discussing the lives of mountain people around the world, there is also a section about the original use of the castle - the building has been really well-preserved. At the top of the tower, there are beautiful views to be seen of Bruneck and beyond!!

Messner Mountain Museum Ripa situated in the center of Bruneck on the top of the hill, is an interesting display of the mountain life across the globe. There are many steps to the top and the entrance to the museum. We took the side road, side path towards the museum so it was easier to reach it. The mountain culture is presented in everyday artifacts on multiple levels. RIPA in Tibetan means ri=mountain, pa=man. It is really cold inside, too.
Lejla S — Google review
The previous day we visited Messner mountain Firmian and we were delighted, so we wanted to give an opportunity to this one. The ticket costs 14 euros but is free with the ritten card. The museum was super disappointing. The locations were numbered but you cannot find any signal related to this. The pieces organization seems totally random. There are some dark rooms that you cannot almost see nothing. There’s only one person working at the ticket entrance and another one in the shop. The place looked barely abandoned. We did one hour car to see this but I can assure you Rios museum is not worth it at all. Not recommended even with the free entrance.

I shared more of this great exhibition on my review of the Brunek Castle…don’t miss this museum if you are in the area! What a great idea to have exhibits of mountain life in a castle nestle in the mountains!
Betta R — Google review
Amazong mountain museum, the price is a bit expensive but reasonable (11€), because the castle Bruneck is very nice and exibitions are amazing. It is about mountain people from Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. There is also a small shop and nice meditation room. The view from the castle tower is also amazing (quielte.a few steps to the top, but it's worth it), you can see the city Bruneck and nearby mountains. I highly recommend it.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Bruneck Castle, a hilltop fortress dating back to the 13th century, offers restored rooms and a museum that delves into mountain culture. The castle houses MMM Ripa, one of Reinhold Messner's six Messner Mountain Museums, dedicated to showcasing the lives of mountain people from around the world. The museum is seamlessly integrated within the ancient walls of Bruneck Castle and features numerous exhibits displaying everyday objects from major mountain cultures globally.
Fascinating palace for those interested in learning about mountain life all over the world. Senior citizen, family, and children discounts are available. Parking at the bottom was free on Sundays and is in within about 100 meters from the entrance. You do walk up a fairly steep hill. Once inside the facility is very clean. There are many stairs to climb, husband did notice an elevator near the tower area. We were impressed with the amount of displays with adequate room to move without people bunching up together. Information was available in three languages. We got to tour the whole castle and each area was targeted by location and people. Maps were displayed showing the location being showcased. To get the most out of this museum plan on spending 2-3 hours. There are cinemas throughout, displays, and you are presented a map with a suggested route to follow. This is a showcase of collections and the castle is not the target of the visit. Young children may not appreciate the collection. Note on Sundays not much was open in the town itself. We found one open bar. Check the website as hours change season to season. Noticed that one visitor’s review stated no photos allowed beyond the first floor. We never saw any signs anywhere stating this, so I recommend you check with the staff before you begin your tour. We did notice some no touch signs and were respect. Lastly, the tower stairs are sometimes dark and narrow so it may be difficult to pass. The tower floor at the top was unnerving as it was weathered and you could feel the bowing as you walked around. The views were incredible but we got off quickly as we didn’t want to be up there with too many people. All in all we recommend this castle if you are in the area.

Didn't go inside and just did the walk around the parameter of the castle. Beautiful grounds with gorgeous little garden paths along the walls.

It is a challenge to reach the Castle because of the snow. The exhibition is good, but it is so cold inside. The view is incredible. With the transport ticket the museum is free.

kinda expensive but there were also many exhibitions inside and the view was absolutely stunning from the top of the tower. it was a bit disappointing that only a few rooms were kept to their original state. Still really enjoyable

LUMEN - Museum of Mountain Photography, located at an impressive 2265 meters on the summit Kronplatz, offers a curated experience dedicated to traditional mountaineering and mountain history of the Dolomites and Alps. Designed by Zaha Hadid, this museum features interactive displays and exhibits that provide informative insights into mountain photography. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from the museum and engage in various interactive activities across its four floors.
Spectacular museum with alot of interactivity and dynamism, a must visit for photography lovers. The museum blends history, art, and technical photography, with modern technology to present unique interessing rooms. We were particularly impressed with the mirror room, rush photo room and the eye/platform room. No matter your age or interests, you are unlikely to get bored while visiting this museum.

As a photography enthusiast, I absolutely loved the Lumen Museum. The exhibitions are inspiring and beautifully curated, but it’s not just for photographers—anyone can enjoy the stunning visuals and unique atmosphere. We spent about 1.5 hours exploring and really taking our time, and it was worth every minute.

Top location, amazing food, very interesting museum. The view from restaurant van be great, a lot of cloud when we were there. The lunch was of high culinary level. The museum is expensive so take your time to enjoy.
Raphael W — Google review
Incredible museum in the most magnificent location! The museum is not too big but everything is extremely well curated with a mix of exhibits and interactive displays. It’s all very informative. If you’re a photographer, you do not want to miss this place. The panoramic views from the museum are breathtaking and worth visiting alone. You can also sit in the restaurant located in the same building and watch people ski. You can purchase admission tickets at the bottom of the ski lift near the big parking lot. You do not need reservations!
Cassie T — Google review
The museum Lumen is really interesting, just the fact that is situated at 2265 meters, at the summit Kronplatz. There are many interactive activities, hidden corners, 4 floors, cool lift and an amazing glass window where you can sit in one of the armchairs and get lost in the view. I particularly like the flight in the helicopter and the never ending room of mirrots. The photographs that are on display are amazing. Definitely worth visiting especially use your free ticket (buses, trains and museums) and get in for free. The only small setback is that it is so warm inside. There are lockers but you are in your ski boots, and it is really warm.
Lejla S — Google review
Very nice and interesting museum. I appreciate the fact that the curators actually tried to make the exhibition interactive and use modern technology to bring immersive experience to the visitors. The space of the museum is well structured. You can learn new information and admire the history of photography. I really enjoyed our visit here.

At this date (28.09.2025) at 15:30 ,The service at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The waitress, a young woman with blonde hair, was unbelievably rude and disrespectful. Her attitude ruined the whole experience, and I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

Located in South Tyrol, MMM Corones is a futuristic mountaineering museum designed by architect Zaha Hadid. It is one of six themed museums created by Italian mountaineer Reinhold Messner, each focusing on different aspects of man's encounter with mountains. The museum offers panoramic views of the Alps and showcases the people who inhabit the mountains.
It was wonderful to discover this museum nestled up in the clouds at Kronplaz. The architecture is a really special artwork in itself and it holds some seriously good tableaus of mountains as well as many cultural creations. The staff are so passionate about this place it is infectious. Good little museum store.

Amazing museum, now I see alpinism with different eyes. Incredible architecture and the combination of alpinism history, beautiful oil paintings and the natural views of the Dolomites from the balconies is really worth the visit.
Ramona R — Google review
Amazing museum in an amazing location. Well worth it, whether you are interested in mountain climbing or not. But, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT ASK GOOGLE MAPS HOW TO GET THERE. It will tell you to drive up the mountain. What you want to do is to drive to one of the gondolas and take that up the mountain.
Paul M — Google review
Small modern museum displaying mountain art, history and artifacts. The interior platform has an excellent view to the mountain range behinh the museum. There is not much to see here sadly and there are no interactive or multimedia items besides the recording playing at the cinema room. The place was crowded when we visited in late October, so it was hard to move around at times.
Marta S — Google review
Very interesting even if you don’t know anything about mountaineering. Should note - unless you’re a very serious hiker, you’ll need the cable car up and down (museum not accessible by car). This adds €28 to the €12 museum ticket, although there is a lot more to do at the summit than just the museum, so I’d argue it’s worth it.
Karim A — Google review
I visited MMM Corones because it was designed by the architect Zaha Hadid, but ended up finding the displays and views very interesting. Knowing nothing about mountaineering, the short video on loop about the exploits of Messner was informative. The art and sculptures were well selected, there is a small gift shop as well. Short walk from the godola style chair lift.

The Austro-Hungarian Cemetery of Brunico, nestled in a serene wooded area just a short stroll from the town center, serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during the tumultuous times of World War I and II. This solemn site is where many soldiers from various nationalities—including Russians, Germans, and Serbs—were laid to rest after passing away in local military hospitals.

Over the past years we have visited many cemeteries dedicated to the fallen in the two world wars. These have mainly been in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Without doubt, this is one of the most peaceful and beautiful. The area is so well cared for by the dedicated volunteers and they should be proud of their great work. A thought provoking and poignant place.

Here we remember the heroes who gave their young lives for their country. The crosses, which are largely made of wood and covered with moss, have something mystical about them. A very impressive place and the walk from Bruneck is extremely worthwhile. (Original) Haben heute diesen Friedhof besucht. (Translated by Google) The military cemetery near Bruneck is a quiet, dignified place of remembrance. Nestled in a sparse forest, the complex exudes a simple beauty that invites you to pause. The individually designed wooden crosses, crescents and Stars of David testify to the diversity of those resting here - soldiers of different nations and denominations from the First and Second World Wars. What is particularly touching is the loving care provided by the Bruneck Forest Cemetery Women's Committee, which has been keeping the memory alive for over a century. The small chapel and the fountain of tears fit harmoniously into the surroundings and reinforce the atmosphere of quiet devotion. A visit to this historic place is not only a journey into the past, but also an appeal for peace and humanity.

(Translated by Google) On July 14, 2025, we visited the Heroes' Cemetery in Bruneck – a place that is deeply moving and thought-provoking. The entire complex is impressively designed, and the information panels on site convey the history of this special place in a clear and understandable way. We were particularly impressed by the loving care of the cemetery. The graves are in very good condition, and the respect and dedication with which this place is preserved is clearly noticeable. A visit is absolutely recommended – not only because of its historical significance, but also because of the quiet, almost meditative atmosphere that surrounds the site. The nearby Bruneck Castle is easily accessible on foot via a small bridge. We recommend connecting the two sites – this provides a multifaceted insight into the history and culture of the region. Concordia 2000 Kronplatz peak has emerged as a popular ski destination in Europe, offering fantastic gondola access from multiple locations and minimal queues even during peak holiday periods. The modern and efficient lifts provide access to a variety of runs catering to skiers of all skill levels. Additionally, the resort features excellent equipment quality and slope maintenance. With great beginner slopes and schools, it's an ideal destination for mixed-skill groups.
The highest point of Kronplatz provides a magnificient view of the surrounding mountains. The main cable station leads right to the top with no stops and there are two interesting museums to visit too. If you are looking for a day trip in South Tirol, this should be part of your planning!

A stunning 360-degree view of the Dolomites! 🌄 The place is absolutely beautiful, perfect for families and kids, but also a paradise for bikers. The trails are well-designed for cycling, making it a great spot for anyone who loves mountain biking and outdoor adventures. The elevation gain is about 1,200 meters from the base of the cable car to the top, which makes the ride even more exciting. Highly recommend visiting!

One of Our Favourite Ski Destinations This has become one of our favourite - and perhaps unexpected - ski locations in Europe. Fantastic gondola access from at least four different locations means that there are few if any major queues to get up the mountain - even during the holiday period when we visited this year. The lifts are modern and efficient; there is a great variety of runs heading off in all directions from the mountain and the quality of equipment and maintenance of the slopes is excellent. Some great restaurants at the summit of Kronplatz but others across the mountain as well. Fantastic 360 views from the summit and it can also be part of the Dolomiti Superski pass which means within an hour's drive you can be in places like Cortina or close to Val Gardena as well for different skiing days. All in all rapidly becoming a favourite destination - and its modern lift infrastructure would be the envy of some of its more famous neighbours - for example Cortina that is full of antiquated and slow chairlifts. Great place to learn and great too for intermediates in particular with a few things to excite the advanced skier too.

A great place to hang out with the kids in the summer, plenty of parking and on route with the bicycle from the mountains to Brunico. Please note the bar does not accept credit card and only cash, there is a sports bar also beside the man-made lake and a kids play area and the local time has a variety of amenities needed for a beautiful day out. Museo provinciale degli usi e costumi is a fascinating open-air museum in South Tyrol, offering a glimpse into the centuries-old Alpine way of life. The rustic beauty of traditional buildings and the rich history they hold make it a cultural gem not only for South Tyrol but for all of Europe. Despite some visitors feeling that the explanations could be more detailed, many appreciate the effort put into creating this unique space.
This is one of my favorite museums in South Tyrol. It's fascinating to see how people lived in the Alps for centuries and I am always struck by the rustic beauty of the traditional buildings. It's rare to see so many in one place and it truly is a cultural gem, not just for South Tyrol but for all of Europe. You feel as though you're stepping back in time to another world. Such a shame that it's often overlooked by tourists, but that also means it's a very quiet and peaceful place. I would give this place so many more stars if I could and I highly recommend a visit. It's enchanting.

A big and beautiful open-air museum that shows both the everyday life of ordinary people and the world of the local elites. There are also animals, which make the visit even more interesting! Unfortunately, all the texts are only in Italian or German, so having a translator is a must. We spent about three hours there, but could have easily stayed longer.

We absolutely loved this! Ended up spending four hours, so much to see. Gorgeous flowers, very helpful staff especially? Lorenzo who spoke excellent English. The exhibits are labeled in German and Italian only, but there’s an English booklet although I didn’t use it. Really worth going to especially at the beginning of a trip in South Tirol , gave a much better understanding of what we had been seeing and wondering about. Highly recommended!!

We had fantastic afternoon. One of the best exhibitions and outside settings of this kind. The only drawback of this place is missing cafeteria on site. Anyway, it is must see in the region.

Then in 1742 Prince Bishop Ignaz von Kunigl donated the building and chapel to the Ursulines. To access, you must go up a staircase. The fresco of the Crucifixion by Hans von Bruneck on the nearby city gate was destroyed in 1758 when the gate was raised to move a large fountain to Via Centrale. The Ursuline Crypt is the oldest part of the entire convent building, dating back to around 1410; the crypt is almost empty, but filled with an atmosphere sanctified by the centuries-old silence of the dead.

(Translated by Google) In bruneck or Brunico in Trentino, in the square that crosses via Bastioni there is the church ⛪ of the Savior of the Ursulines, built in the 1400s, it stands close to the walls as if to defend the city and the bell tower was also part of the defensive structures of the church itself. The door is in Gothic style accompanied by a staircase. The interior is beautiful but a little dark in my opinion, it is in neo-Gothic style with many paintings. It is open from 8am to 8pm with free entry. The church was granted to the Ursulines, who built the adjoining convent with school. Next to the complex is the Ursuline gate, part of the ancient city wall, there are painted coats of arms and a Crucifixion from around 1420. by Giovanni da Brunico. In winter there is the Christmas market in front of it.... It is certainly worth seeing if you are visiting for Christmas shopping or during the year.

Nestled in the heart of Bressanone, the Kapuzinerkirche, or Capuchin Church of the Holy Trinity, is a serene gem founded on August 10, 1626. With its unassuming facade and simple interior reflecting the spirit of the Chaldean Capuchin friars, this church offers a peaceful retreat for visitors. The adjoining Capuchin monastery has been serving pastoral needs since its consecration in 1628.

The route is mostly in the sun and in some places it is not well traced (there are no tracks indicating the paths, such as the white and red ones of the CAI and which guide hikers). At some forks in the road it wasn't clear where to go, so much so that we had to go back several times. Then when you get to the explanatory tables you realize that they are nothing special!. It should be noted that there is a passage right in front of a hive with bees swarming all around! In short, you can do without it... (Translated by Google) It should be a circular route, mostly in the woods, of about 5 km where you can find explanatory tables on historical events. After going about a quarter of the way around, I didn't even find half a board. Among other things, the path is not very well maintained, there are several slippery/watery sections which make it dangerous, for example, for children. Furthermore, in certain sections there is no clear signage of the route to follow (especially at the various forks that the path makes). The difference in altitude is modest, over 100 metres, far greater than what is reported on the official website. Don't forget the difficulty in finding a car park nearby (it is best to park in the small car park in Via Santa Croce, with a parking disc of 180 minutes).
