Cité Europe is a popular shopping center located in Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais. The city gained prominence due to the Channel Tunnel, which serves as its entry point. Tourists can explore various shops within the city, catering to the daily influx of tunnel users. Additionally, visitors can savor classic French cuisine at the on-site restaurant and bar. For those seeking an authentic experience, the Centre Ville offers a more genuine taste of local culture.
This epic landmark shopping centre a few yards from the channel tunnel and a couple of miles from the ferry is thirty years old this. Good selection of dining options. Is fully wheelchair accessible
Steve C — Google review
Great to dive in for a few bottles before the tunnel but a bit massive and overwhelming. No doubt though to shopping enthusiasts it is heaven! Plenty of parking and the dodgy wandering pairs of would be migrants common a couple of years ago seem to have been discouraged.
Steve G — Google review
Plenty of shops and eateries. Good bargains but you do tend to spend more overall. 20% tax refund on certain items if you're returning to UK within 30 days (I think). Shop staff should be able to tell you.
John C — Google review
A fantastic huge shopping mall, filled with lots of interesting shops, and free parking, shopping trolleys are available in the carpark just like in the supermarket at home, but don't indicate what coin is required, however a 2 euro coin worked well enough though.
Mark ( — Google review
To be honest, for me it's one of the nicest and cleanest mall in France. It's a large one with a wide variety of shops to have a great shopping experience 🛍️ ☺️. I would say the most common international brands have a store in this Mall. From Zara to Primark. I really enjoyed my experience there with so many choices. The parking is easy to access and park. it's a nice place to have dinner or lunch 🍽️ with different type of restaurants. Nice job!! U would highly recommend this mall.
Youssef — Google review
I will not be going back to Flunch! Other shops are nice, mostly the same chains as everywhere else in France, except for the Artisan shop, an unexpected gem in the middle of the dross: real unique handcrafted pieces by local artists, some truly brilliant, such as the stunning chess set made of recycled industrial and mechanical parts. But we made the mistake of trying lunch at Flunch, for a French experience, and that was a bit of a culture shock: the service was mostly poor (not enough staff), the starters included watermelon served with cheese (yuk), and the water looked dirty. However, the steak was actually good quality and tasty, to be fair.
Esther R — Google review
Large shopping spaces and seating areas, toilets are clean and tastefully designed with lots of space. Great food court and lots of variety. And the kids can stay all day, entertainment are endless and fun. Ample parking two levels for you to choose, great mall...
Jered G — Google review
We thought it was an excellent shopping centre. Looked smart, easy to navigate through, good varieties of shops available, massive car park, and the design of the outside of the shopping centre looks apart too. Be aware to take the correct exit on the motorway otherwise you risk to end up in the lorry bit for boarding euro tunnel like we did but if you do don't panic there is a roundabout just before customs :)

Nestled across from the picturesque Richelieu Park, the Fine Arts Museum in Calais is a cultural gem that draws visitors with its captivating exhibitions. One of its highlights is dedicated to the iconic statue, "The Burghers of Calais," crafted by renowned French sculptor Auguste Rodin. This poignant piece commemorates a significant moment in history—the siege of Calais in 1347 during the Hundred Years War—making it an essential stop for those interested in art and history alike.

Vincent C — Google review
⭐️⭐️ The fountain in Parc Richelieu is not exactly memorable. 💧 It doesn’t offer much in terms of beauty, presence, or atmosphere. 🪞 It’s also not very useful—just another decorative feature that doesn’t invite people to interact or linger. 🚫 Like many such installations, it’s something the public ends up paying for year after year. 💶 And if it’s not regularly maintained, it quickly becomes a mess—stagnant, dirty, and unpleasant to be near. 🦠 That said, the rest of the park is fairly quiet and can be a peaceful place to sit, especially away from the fountain. 🌳

Historic Sites
Calais Town Hall is a significant landmark in the heart of Calais, known for its distinctive 15th century Neo Flemish architecture. It was built to commemorate the merging of Calais and Saint Pierre, with construction starting in 1911 and completing in 1925 due to delays caused by World War I. The town hall also features the first cast of Rodin's renowned sculpture "Les Bourgeois de Calais" in front of the ornate Hotel de Ville.
Very beautiful town hall with an amazing clock tower. Really nice picture potential specially with the "Calais" letters. Great for some nice souvenir pictures of the place. Definitely worth checking out and only a few minutes away from the train station.

Very nice building and it's open for the visits (not like the one in Dunkirk) : the first floor and the tower (can get a guided tour)
Nona V — Google review
Stunning gardens and building. Clock tower is similar in size to London’s Big Ben. I didn’t have time to visit the inside of the town hall however the gardens are impressive enough.
Mark P — Google review
Nice place, not as clean as expected. Not very safe as many weird people were walking in the park. Washing clothes by the lake and sleep on the benches.
Zzippit D — Google review
Amazing building with an impressive clock tower. You can go up to the first floor for free and view the rooms and for a small charge (€5 per adult and €2 per child) you can even go up the bell tower. A great building to look round

Warm welcome from the team, amazing views of the city. You get a nice guided tour for some history and some interesting facts about the areas. Would recommend!
Lexie S — Google review
Baroque Style of Building with a park and museum nearby. Interesting architecture and story of the Les Bourgeois de Calais where the English invaded and Calais became a part of England in 1347. Six dignitaries were put up for execution to spare the entire town from mass slaughter by King Edward 111. A Rodin statue exist outside depicting the six men with ropes around their necks. You can go into the belfry but unfortunately when I visited it wasn’t open.
Paul — Google review
The town hall of Calais symbolizes the union of the cities of Calais and Saint-Pierre. Financial troubles and World War I postponed construction, but in 1925 the town hall, which was executed in neo-Flemish style, was ready. The most striking element of the town hall is the belfry, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005.

Notre-Dame Catholic Church at Calais is a historical gem with a rich heritage dating back to the 13th century. The church bears the marks of various eras, including English influence from the 17th century. Despite undergoing renovations, it continues to function as a place of worship and exudes a peaceful energy. Visitors can admire its unique architecture, characterized by beamless ceilings and striking black and blue lattice windows.
Such a beautiful place and the restoration from such destruction wrought by mankind is amazing! Worth the visit!
Michael H — Google review
Amazing church undergoing renovation but still working as a church in an alter behind the main alter. The ceiling is without beams. The arches support the ceiling. The latice window is in black and blue. The energy in the church is very peaceful and with a church service in the background ..a very beautiful experience. The gardens outside are a must visit too. The place is near the reservoir for water storage.

Beautiful & calm.. one of the monuments you need to see when you visit Calais
Schattenjager19 — Google review
⭐️⭐️ This is one of the few towers you’ll spot in Calais. 🗼 It’s not especially tall, but it appears so because it rises above the small, low-built houses typical of the region. 🏘️ The architecture isn’t particularly remarkable—nothing that really draws the eye or sticks in your memory. 🧱 Still, it definitely looks better from the outside than it does from the inside. 👀 Once you step inside, the space feels stark and underwhelming, with little atmosphere. 🚪 That said, the unpredictable northern weather plays tricks on your senses. 🌫️ With the sharp wind and cold rains outside, the interior can feel more welcoming than it actually is. 🌧️ Psychologically, it flips your expectations—you’re more likely to appreciate the shelter than the design. 🌀

Le Grand Bleu, located at 8 Rue Jean-Pierre Avron in Calais, has recently been taken over by a young avant-garde chef with a growing reputation for creating glorious food. The restaurant offers an excellent menu and a traditional French feel. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior is bustling with diners being served efficiently by attentive waitstaff.
An amazing food experience! Incredible meal, reasonable pricing and friendly staff. A perfect place to stop off before catching the ferry/shuttle back to the UK. Will be going back very soon! Thank you
Elyssia — Google review
This is the third time we have tried to eat here after two epic fails, the first time we had booked to coincide with our ferry arrival time from England in 2018, but there were customs strikes and other delays. I could only email to apologise for our "no-show", but they were so nice about it I vowed to return one day. Glad we did, this time we walked in without a booking and they welcomed us no problem. The menu was imaginative and good value, the presentation superb and the service very responsive e.g. we had a ferry to catch this time too and, without rushing, the dishes came promptly. We will return for a tasting menu. You could tell that this restaurant is very popular with the French. Easy to park nearby.

Menu plasir 3 courses for 32 euro plus taster starter. Very friendly staff parking in front of the restaurant. High quality ingredients and cooking. Staff speaks English
Servaas H — Google review
Best meal we've had in France so far. Delicious, well presented, friendly wait staff.
Alistair H — Google review
I don't understand the reviews. The menus are not expensive, but they are not good either. There are too many different things on the plate. Many do not fit together. The quality is just ok. It's all supposed to look very artistic, but it's not culinary art. There is a lack of knowledge and skills. The service is friendly, but not attentive and experienced. Little passion for the dishes. The winter garden is quickly cold and equipped with chalky white LEDs. The tables are cleaned occasionally with a cordless vacuum cleaner. You can either brush it or use a damp cloth. But then the dirt probably collects in the metal edge of the table. It's all somehow intentional, but not skillful. Too bad and absolutely no recommendation.

A truly delightful experience at Le Grand Bleu, from the moment that we walked through the door we were taken great care of. We ate in the covered terrace area with a view of the sea, an extremely clean, light, airy and tastefully decorated room. The staff were very attentive, discrete in their work and gave concise answers to my many questions! The table presentation, crockery and glasses were of high quality and I particularly liked the mini hoover that was used to eliminated bread crumbs. *The meal was amazing! I had the 30€ menu, a delicate taster dish, followed by the haddock, prawn and pickles, followed by the mouth watering crispy braised beef cheek and dessert mille feuille chocolate and salted caramel mousse with caramelised peanuts. The 3 courses were absolutely delicious, ample portions and beautifully creative presentation and outstanding value for money. A fresh glass of champagne when I arrived and a glass of rose during my meal. Our little westie was also welcomed and given a small bowl of water. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and hope to be able to return in the future to relax and taste the Chefs unique cuisine. Congratulations!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Le Grand Bleu – A Refined Welcome to France After crossing the English Channel from Dover to Calais by car ferry — a journey that carries a certain old-world romance — I arrived in France with a hunger sharpened by sea air and anticipation. It was Le Grand Bleu that welcomed me, and in doing so, set the tone for a return to true French refinement. The atmosphere was elegant yet warmly unpretentious, with the soft murmur of French voices and the scent of butter and sea in the air. I began with the foie gras, and I must say — it was magnificent. But more than just the foie gras itself, it was the artful presentation and the exceptional variety of accoutrements that elevated it: fig compote, house-made brioche, fleur de sel, a touch of spice here, a splash of sweetness there — each note in perfect harmony. A masterclass in balance and indulgence. The staff were poised and attentive, giving just the right amount of presence without intrusion — a hallmark of a restaurant that knows its craft. To enjoy such a meal upon arrival in Calais, just as the sun began to lower over the port, was not merely satisfying — it was poetic. Le Grand Bleu is not just a restaurant, it is a landing — a gentle, luxurious return to French soil.

Lighthouses
The Calais Lighthouse, a 51-meter tall structure built in 1848, houses a museum and offers visitors stunning views of the port and coast from its terrace after climbing up 271 steps. It is the tallest building in Calais with a 360-degree view. On clear days, distant views of Britain are possible although faint outlines were only seen during one visit. The staff is polite, kind and helpful. A video available on-site provides interesting insights into the lighthouse's history.
Amazing experience 😊 plenty of steep steps 🫣😀 grate workout.
Ariel J — Google review
Pretty interesting was inside and guide is very good man. But if you want to see England then you need very good binoculars because we were there in a sunny day with no clouds and without binoculars you are not able to see any part of England! Ticket price is good .
Alexander B — Google review
A well kept beautiful architecture. You will be greeted by a very friendly lady at the reception. Very clean and kept well stairs and interiors. 271 steps dint seem that hard as expected. The view from up there is nice, nothing exceptional.
AMBIKA M — Google review
The Calais lighthouse is a great place to stop and be able to get a great view of the city. It's easy to find, and the tickets to walk up to the landing are very reasonable. There is a nice little history that you see before going up, with dioramas and photos. The staff are all so friendly and answer all your questions. On clear days, you can see across to England. It was not a clear day when we went. 😭 The view was still spectacular.
Brandy S — Google review
I saw a review on here that said "it is just a lighthouse." This is more than just a lighthouse. It is a piece of history, it's informative and it's educational. Also, the views of Calais, once you have negotiated the 271 steps are fantastic.
Brendan M — Google review
I have wanted to climb a lighthouse again since my memories of doing so as a child were thrilling. Most in America are no longer available to see inside. This one had quite the climb to a fabulous view of the port. Unfortunately it was a wee bit hazy so we could barely make the outline of England across the channel. Worth the 5.5 euros entrance fee.
Feisty G — Google review
271 steps and you are on the top. Nice view.
Ivan D — Google review
Awesome place. We had a good time and weather and managed to get to the terrace. Our guide was very helpful and patient with us and our many questions. I definitely recommend a visit to this lighthouse. As far as I understand, in very good weather, Britain can be seen quite well. We saw only faint outlines.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Calais features both classic and contemporary works, as well as a permanent collection of sculptures by Rodin. The museum's collections showcase great artists, though some pieces may be more representative than others. Additionally, the museum is known for its interesting temporary exhibitions such as the recent street art exhibit. Despite being a smaller building, the museum offers visitors a chance to explore various forms of art and gain new perspectives.
Good exhibits, friendly reception staff. Great for an hour or two and free 😁

I liked the curation and the exhibits but sadly was partially closed (20/9/24)so didn’t see the Rodin. If that’s what you want check the refurb is done.
Phil C — Google review
⭐️⭐️ A small, provincial museum that seems to exist mostly because someone in power needed a local cultural symbol to stroke their ego. 🏛️ It’s hard to believe there’s any deeper reason for this place—it feels like a checkbox on some city planner’s legacy project. 🗂️ Most people passing through Calais won’t even know it’s here, and honestly, that might be for the best. 🧳 It doesn’t add any noticeable value to the town’s cultural life. 🫥 The exhibitions are limited, the space feels underwhelming, and the overall experience is forgettable. 🖼️ Ironically, the small park in front of the museum is more enjoyable—especially when the weather is good. 🌤️ You get more for your time and attention there than you do inside the museum itself. 🌳 And the price of admission? Probably better spent on a coffee while enjoying the park’s longer opening hours. ☕
Freight L — Google review
This museum offers a decent standard collection and the temporary exhibition about street art is very interesting. Great artists are represented. Some works are merely representative. Also, let's mention the fact a museum holds an exhibition about street art. It's ironic, but there's no chance to get as much context to stand still to outside of musea.

Nice museum. Clean and polite staff. Would recommend. Free entry
Natalia — Google review
We just could see the permanent exhibition, because the temporary exhibition was recently canceled. The attention in the ticket office was not kind. The people who work there seem to be bored or upset. The location of some of the artworks, against the light, does not allow to appreciate the details.

What a lovely sandy beach! A must check out if you are passing through France for your travels or just looking for a day trip to the beach, this is well worth the ferry cross from the U.K. Lots of things to do for the children a lovely skate park for the kids , separate areas for children to play , the sand is so clean and surrounding area too

Visited the beach in the evening towards the end of May. The temperature was around 17 degrees. Since it was the beginning of summer, we had the whole place to ourselves. A nice windswept stretch of beach to while away the time. Plenty of Airbnb places to stay nearby. If you have kids, there are plenty of play areas nearby for all ages. The pier is a nice place for fishing and to watch ferries plying to and fro from Dover, U.K which is the closest to continental Europe from Calais

The beaches is well-kept, with plenty of cafés and restaurants offering fresh seafood and warm pastries—perfect for a post-walk treat. Calais beach is splendid. I'll definitely come back to this beach once in Calais. The beach is very sandy and as you go down further and further you will come across less and less people. The Second World War Museum is situated in Calais Parc Saint-Pierre, housed within an authentic German navy bunker that served as the headquarters for the Navy to the Port of Calais and a transmission center for the entire Northwest region of France during World War II. The museum features a collection of weapons, uniforms, photographs, press clippings, and everyday objects from the town's occupation period.
Small, interesting World War 2 museum that has some super interesting exhibits about the war in and around Calais. The exhibits range from photos to uniforms, items of daily lives and weapons to very detailed models and dioramas. The setting in a German underground bunker is chilling and very effective for the excellent flow of the exhibit. The audio guide was very good, highly recommend using it! For me personally it could have been even a bit more detailed because as a historian it wasn’t all new for me, plus the women deserved more than one room and I’d have love to hear their stories in translation as well. The museum staff was multilingual and also very helpful. Definitely stop by if you are in Calais.
Ina S — Google review
The Musée Mémoire 39-45 is a really interesting and moving museum, but what makes it special is not its collections of weapons, uniforms, aircraft engines or models – almost every military museum has those. It’s the official notices (posters), the newspapers, the printed records, the stories and the photographs that bring to life the experiences of those who lived here during the war. There is an audioguide app, but I struggled to get it working on my phone, and ofc in a bunker with 2m thick walls, it has to rely on the museum's wifi! Instead, if your French is not strong, I'd recommend you use your translation app in camera mode. Hold it up to read the German Kommandant's angry notice addressing anti-German graffiti and the penalties for not removing it... and/or the last letters written by 20-yr-old captured Resistance man, Claude Waroquier, from Fresne Prison in Paris to his parents in Calais, as he awaits his execution.

There are several hundred items in this museum yet about 50% have. o description associated. They have 2 Spitfire Merlin engines yet no description of what they are and any real history around them. Quite disappointed as it could have been more informative. As its a part of Calais' heritage, it works and is an impressive site and only 7 Euros to enter. Worth a visit but you won't learn that much.
Paul C — Google review
Great museum, individual rooms cover separate topics. Many authentic items displayed to portray life in the bunker, for example the armoury contained many weapons and tools to repair. Would have given 5 stars but not everything was in English. Would recommend if you have an interest and it's priced reasonably.

WW2 Bunker built by forced labour as part of the Nazi war machine. It housed their telephone exchange and a small group of soldiers. Interesting exhibits but it does need some upgrading and perhaps better presentation. What's there evokes the horror of the war and occupation. It's hidden away right in the middle of Calais in the park opposite the town hall. Worth a visit.

We visited this museum about WWII because of a review that I had read. Tucked away in a park about a five minute walk from the Hotel de Ville (town hall), it did not disappoint. Very in-depth descriptions. Everyone should visit these WWII sites and teach the children. Worth the 8.5 euro cost per adult.

This was our first stop after arriving in Calais for a couple of days exploring various WW1 & WW2 sites around Northern France, this was an interesting little place to start our journey. With various displays including uniforms and artifacts from WW2, this was a good introduction to our trip. The museum is in the park and quite easy to find, especially using Google Maps. They don't accept card payment so you'll need Euros but it wasn't very expensive, €9 each adult. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

Les Baraques Military Cemetery, a significant burial ground established during World War I by the British, was strategically located near Calais beach, serving as a convenient base for their operations. The cemetery predominantly houses English soldiers but also commemorates troops from various other nations. Its visually striking landscape showcases countless rows of meticulously aligned white Portland stones, each engraved with names.
I stumbled across this cemetery while exploring the ruins of the Atlantic Wall. Interesting mix of headstones. I came across casualties from both wars and many Chinese labourers and several dated 1919.

The Citadel of Calais, an exceptional historical site, has evolved over time into a pleasant walking area. This remarkable landmark holds immense importance in the annals of French history and remains relatively unknown to the public. Its significance lies in its rich heritage and profound cultural value. Offering an enticing glimpse into the past, this captivating fortress invites visitors to explore its grounds and immerse themselves in its storied legacy.
Fantastic old Fort in Calais
Henrieta B — Google review
The citadel at Calais is free to enter and is open during daylight hours. There is a large sports complex inside now and almost nothing remains of the citadel other than the massive walls and moat, the interior building having all been finally destroyed in the German capture of the citadel in 1940. I visited on a sunny February afternoon in 2025 and there were several joggers running the circuit of the ramparts and families walking around the interior so it was a safe place to visit. I didn’t notice any information boards, other than on the Neptune Gate and the path to it from Esplanade Jacques Vendroux, where there were several detailing the 1940 and 1944 events. Calais Citadel is a big fortress so I’d allow a good 30 mins to walk the walls. Built after the capture of Calais from the English the citadel was remodelled several times before the current structure. Almost all the interior buildings were destroyed in 1940 by the German attack.

⭐️⭐️ It’s a copy. 🖨️ And not even a bold one—it’s a smaller copy. 🔍 You can see it from far away, but mostly because the buildings around here rarely go beyond two floors. 🏠 In fact, anything above the third floor around Calais usually means the state paid for it. 🏢 The belfry itself isn’t exactly ugly, but it does feel… off. 🎭 It radiates something fake—like it was dropped in from a postcard of another city. ✈️ It doesn’t fit the architecture of the area. 🧱 It doesn’t fit the spirit of the area. 🧘 It doesn’t even match the colors or materials of the surrounding buildings. 🎨 It sticks out, not like a centerpiece, but like something trying too hard to matter. 🎈 You look at it and get the feeling it was built more for show than for soul. 📸 I guess if I had to sum it up in one word, it would be tacky. 🎀

This place surprised me, I knew nothing about lace when I entered and learned plenty as I viewed and read the supporting information it made me realise how difficult it is even today to make lace. On the first floor there is the history of lace and upstairs shows the process of mechanically made laces with I believe demonstrations but not on Sundays. Also lace fashions and costume adorned wuth lace. The main captions are in 3 languages so accessible if English speaking. We discovered it's free on the first Sunday of the month which was a bonus. If you're there at lunchtime there's a very good value restaurant there too.

(Translated by Google) The statue of Yvonne and Charles de Gaulle, placed on the majestic Place d'Armes in Calais, is much more than just a work of art. She embodies a powerful symbol of the history and love that united these two emblematic figures of France. Sculpted with remarkable finesse, the statue captures the complicity and elegance of the couple, hand in hand, frozen in an eternal walk. The choice of Calais for this installation is not insignificant. It is here, in this city at the crossroads of Europe, that Charles de Gaulle, then a young officer, met Yvonne Vendroux in 1920, thus sealing a common destiny which will endure the trials of history. The statue, with its realism and touching humanity, recalls this founding moment while honoring the memory of a man and a woman who marked their era with their courage, dedication and sense of duty. Every detail, from the folds of their clothes to the expression on their faces, testifies to the skill of the artist and the emotion that emerges from this work. The statue of Yvonne and Charles de Gaulle is not only a tribute to great historical figures, but also a celebration of love, resilience and deep attachment to France. Passing in front of this sculpture, visitors cannot help but be touched by the quiet strength that emanates from it, reminding everyone that behind great deeds there are often equally heroic personal stories.

The Dragon Company in Calais is truly a must-visit! This incredible place is one of the main reasons to come to Calais. The scale and creativity behind their dragon creation is absolutely breathtaking. It’s not just a sightseeing attraction. It’s an engineering and artistic marvel. Anyone interested in technology, robotics, or mechanical design will be blown away by the level of innovation on display. The fusion of art, science, and imagination makes it fascinating for both adults and kids. It was a bit unfortunate that we weren’t able to experience a dragon ride due to technical issues, but even without the ride, the experience was still unforgettable. Seeing the dragon up close and learning about the mechanics behind it was worth the visit. The team behind the dragon is passionate and knowledgeable, and their work shows the perfect balance between technical expertise and creative storytelling. Whether you’re a tech enthusiast, a robotics fan, or simply curious about unique experiences, The Dragon Company will leave you amazed. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Calais it’s an experience you won’t find anywhere else!

With so much fun and eagerness, our 5 year-old enjoyed the 2 rides on the Dragon du Calais. Out of the 4 embarkment points, we would recommend Point A and D. The former, the Dragon Forecourt, offers a beautiful front view of the Calais coast. Family or friends who are not on the dragon also have plenty of space to move about the ground for best picture angles. As for the latter – the Boardwalk, this offers a nice ride along the coast and you can enjoy the cheering from the crowds along the beach. The dragon itself is a massive and of real-sized dragon, really like a mythical figure that steps straight out of one of your fantasy stories and movies. The giant mechanical creature is carried on wheels covered by dragon’s feet, sitting from above you see that the dragon is walking but looking from below, you see a truck taking over the whole force. Our 5-year old son made a comment that this dragon has fake feet, nevertheless, he never stops enjoy a moment with this dragon, be they on or off the dragon. It requires coordination from 3 people to work the Calais Dragon Ride. They have one truck driver who drives the dragon, one head rider who sits on top of the dragon’s head and controls the right, left, up, down movements of the head, and lastly one person moving in front of the dragon to give orders for fire/steam blowing. One tip of how to anticipate the fire blowing is that, usually before the dragon blows fire, his mouth would slowly open wide for about 5-10 seconds and then boom the fire would come out. Our son who walks long the fire and the lady who controls the fire/steam along the coast was asked to push the button for fire. He was totally flabbergasted. So if your child wants to know what it feel like to give instruction to the dragon to breath fire, always worth asking.

Wonderful! A truly magical experience. I'm a big fan of Compagnie la Machine, so this was extra special. Space is limited - booking is absolutely essential. Rides are from the designated stop until the next stop on the route - not necessarily the dragon's home. Check where you need to be!

Different kinda beach experience but would definitely recommend to give it a try if your in the area took my little one there and she loved it on a hot day it’s nice when they spray the water
Tubby T — Google review
Kids absolutely loved spotting this on our beach trip, fantastic and well worth the visit to find the dragon!

Four stars only because the view of the dragon's magnificence is MUCH better outside than inside the dragon! Otherwise, it is a truly impressive experience and we had a great time.

Parc Saint-Pierre is a picturesque wooded city park in Calais, featuring a pond, gardens, and a memorial statue. It also houses a small WWII museum and a charming café. The park offers beautiful lawns, flower beds, and plenty of benches for relaxation. There's a separate playground area for kids and lovely new paths around the pond. Visitors can also explore the Hotel-de-ville (town hall) and an early 20th-century belfry nearby.
Beautiful lawns and flowers. Lots of benches. Separate playground area for kids. Fountain. Loo & café on the periphery and small WW2 museum in park.

Fort Nieulay, located at the western entrance of Calais, is a significant historical site that has played a crucial role in French history. Originally built as a key defense element by Vauban under the request of Louis XIV, it holds great strategic importance for the country. The fort's unique feature as a cluse fort makes it an interesting visit for history enthusiasts. Visitors can explore its significance through guided tours and gain insights into its role during World War II.
Really good guided tour from the curator who was in the entrance gatehouse. He was a real inthusiast and had a really pleasant manner. Great to find out more about Calais' importance in French history.

It is a good place for sports. The machines are clean. There are two different rooms with showers for men and women. There is a dispenser with cold water and a heater for coffee. There are small lockers in the gym you just need to get your own lock, although I have been going for 2 weeks with no lock and I didn't even lose a thing. There are some classes you can subscribe to as well. Good place for kids, adults and even old people. There are some Judo classes and other activities for elderly people.
