Cité Europe is a popular shopping center located in Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais. The city gained prominence due to the Channel Tunnel, which serves as its entry point. Tourists can explore various shops within the city, catering to the daily influx of tunnel users. Additionally, visitors can savor classic French cuisine at the on-site restaurant and bar. For those seeking an authentic experience, the Centre Ville offers a more genuine taste of local culture.
This epic landmark shopping centre a few yards from the channel tunnel and a couple of miles from the ferry is thirty years old this. Good selection of dining options. Is fully wheelchair accessible
Steve C — Google review
Great to dive in for a few bottles before the tunnel but a bit massive and overwhelming. No doubt though to shopping enthusiasts it is heaven! Plenty of parking and the dodgy wandering pairs of would be migrants common a couple of years ago seem to have been discouraged.
Steve G — Google review
Plenty of shops and eateries. Good bargains but you do tend to spend more overall. 20% tax refund on certain items if you're returning to UK within 30 days (I think). Shop staff should be able to tell you.
John C — Google review
A fantastic huge shopping mall, filled with lots of interesting shops, and free parking, shopping trolleys are available in the carpark just like in the supermarket at home, but don't indicate what coin is required, however a 2 euro coin worked well enough though.
Mark ( — Google review
To be honest, for me it's one of the nicest and cleanest mall in France. It's a large one with a wide variety of shops to have a great shopping experience 🛍️ ☺️. I would say the most common international brands have a store in this Mall. From Zara to Primark. I really enjoyed my experience there with so many choices. The parking is easy to access and park. it's a nice place to have dinner or lunch 🍽️ with different type of restaurants. Nice job!! U would highly recommend this mall.
Youssef — Google review
I will not be going back to Flunch! Other shops are nice, mostly the same chains as everywhere else in France, except for the Artisan shop, an unexpected gem in the middle of the dross: real unique handcrafted pieces by local artists, some truly brilliant, such as the stunning chess set made of recycled industrial and mechanical parts. But we made the mistake of trying lunch at Flunch, for a French experience, and that was a bit of a culture shock: the service was mostly poor (not enough staff), the starters included watermelon served with cheese (yuk), and the water looked dirty. However, the steak was actually good quality and tasty, to be fair.
Esther R — Google review
Large shopping spaces and seating areas, toilets are clean and tastefully designed with lots of space. Great food court and lots of variety. And the kids can stay all day, entertainment are endless and fun. Ample parking two levels for you to choose, great mall...
Jered G — Google review
We thought it was an excellent shopping centre. Looked smart, easy to navigate through, good varieties of shops available, massive car park, and the design of the outside of the shopping centre looks apart too. Be aware to take the correct exit on the motorway otherwise you risk to end up in the lorry bit for boarding euro tunnel like we did but if you do don't panic there is a roundabout just before customs :)

The staffs were helpful. Despite being one of the smallest Auchan i have visited, they had a lot of stuffs. Located about 10 minutes or less drive to the ferry port. Handy for last minute shopping before getting on the ferry.

Cheese shop
La Maison du Fromage et des Vins, located in Calais and owned by Le Channel restaurant, offers a delightful selection of cheeses, wines, and other deli products. The store is open throughout the week with accommodating hours. Visitors praise the helpful and English-speaking staff who assist in finding specific cheeses or suggesting alternatives.
Pleasant staff, & so helpful, the owner speaks good English which is great as I don’t speak much French I prepared a list of cheeses I wanted & they were able to provide most, & If not an alternative was offered. Excellent choice of cheeses also. 👍🏻
Dman — Google review
Fantastic selection of good wines and a huge variety of cheeses. The owner is very knowledgeable about all the stock and generous with her time, even adding a gift as she wasn't disappointed to have too little of stock of one item.

Probably the smelliest Camembert I've ever had, lovely! My car smelt amazing when i got off the ferry at Dover haha

Fabulous shop! The manageress was very helpful in steering us to the best cheeses. If available the red "tome berry" cheese is sensational.

Bistro
When exploring the culinary landscape of Calais, Histoire Ancienne stands out as a gem that beautifully marries quality with value. Under the expert guidance of chef Patrick Comte, who draws inspiration from his childhood visits to Paris's renowned International Market of Rungis, this bistro-style restaurant offers an exquisite dining experience.
A wonderful restaurant in Calais. Beautiful ambience, nice art and amazing food. The service is outstanding. We had fish dishes with accompagnement of chanterelles mushrooms and Tarte wit vegetables confit. A feast for the eyes and stomach!
George O — Google review
This is the second time I have busted this restaurant and again it was excellent. I didn’t review it the first time. This is an excellent bin gourmand establishment with an excellent set menu in the evening. I had the duck followed by the pork and the chocolate coffee cup, served with a half bottle of excellent house red, but a very good for the price. The service was excellent even though all the covers were full. The only observation was that my glass was dry for the the later part of the main course. A no no really but most forgivable. A very nicely decorated dining room. Highly recommend, but do book.
Derek J — Google review
Come to try their new summer menu. Excellently presented and top quality food, well portioned and superb value for a three course lunch. Service from staff was hit and miss but adequate. Definitely recommended if you're in Calais wanting to try decent French cuisine
Joe T — Google review
We ate here for my father’s 80th birthday and the staff were wonderful. Our crossing was delayed, but they agreed to stay open for us and provided a wonderful celebratory dessert. The quality of the food (having eaten here a few times) is consistently excellent, the service friendly and the atmosphere extremely pleasant. It’s one of our favourite places in Calais.
Richard S — Google review
Lovely 3 course set menu meal. We visited on a Thursday lunchtime before the ferry back to Dover. The restaurant is traditional French bistro style, very comfortable and relaxed. The service is attentive but discrete which allowed us to enjoy the experience. Will definitely return in 2026. We chose the Foie gras and the salmon plates to start, steaks as the main and the Tarte Tatan for deserts, which were all presented perfectly and cooked to perfection.
Bruce W — Google review
As French as it gets (though I expected an establishment this size and this close to the channel to at least understand and speak a bit of English) Food was perfect, service perfect - and wine list very reasonable. It's definitely a place to revisit if in Calais another time. Loved the 1920's decor - very elegant and stylish. And it's a huge place...we reserved a table one day in advance, but seems like walk-in is often doable
Johannes H — Google review
What an amazing restaurant! We stopped in Calais for just one night and found this gem. Pros: The food was amazing! The salmon was so good! Very reasonably priced! Good wine selection The staff were were very friendly and very attentive. Very very very clean. I watched them sanitize each menu, seats, tables, and even the pen people used to sign their receipt. Cons: Absolutely nothing. You can’t go wrong with this place.
Glen L — Google review
We took the Bib Gourmand menu, and that was really good. I took the salmon tartar as a starter, then the steak and as a desert the mi-cuits. All dishes were perfect 👍.

French restaurant
Le Grand Bleu, located at 8 Rue Jean-Pierre Avron in Calais, has recently been taken over by a young avant-garde chef with a growing reputation for creating glorious food. The restaurant offers an excellent menu and a traditional French feel. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior is bustling with diners being served efficiently by attentive waitstaff.
An amazing food experience! Incredible meal, reasonable pricing and friendly staff. A perfect place to stop off before catching the ferry/shuttle back to the UK. Will be going back very soon! Thank you
Elyssia — Google review
This is the third time we have tried to eat here after two epic fails, the first time we had booked to coincide with our ferry arrival time from England in 2018, but there were customs strikes and other delays. I could only email to apologise for our "no-show", but they were so nice about it I vowed to return one day. Glad we did, this time we walked in without a booking and they welcomed us no problem. The menu was imaginative and good value, the presentation superb and the service very responsive e.g. we had a ferry to catch this time too and, without rushing, the dishes came promptly. We will return for a tasting menu. You could tell that this restaurant is very popular with the French. Easy to park nearby.
Paul J — Google review
Menu plasir 3 courses for 32 euro plus taster starter. Very friendly staff parking in front of the restaurant. High quality ingredients and cooking. Staff speaks English
Servaas H — Google review
Best meal we've had in France so far. Delicious, well presented, friendly wait staff.
Alistair H — Google review
I don't understand the reviews. The menus are not expensive, but they are not good either. There are too many different things on the plate. Many do not fit together. The quality is just ok. It's all supposed to look very artistic, but it's not culinary art. There is a lack of knowledge and skills. The service is friendly, but not attentive and experienced. Little passion for the dishes. The winter garden is quickly cold and equipped with chalky white LEDs. The tables are cleaned occasionally with a cordless vacuum cleaner. You can either brush it or use a damp cloth. But then the dirt probably collects in the metal edge of the table. It's all somehow intentional, but not skillful. Too bad and absolutely no recommendation.
Janis — Google review
Very friendly , excellent food and service 👍👍

A truly delightful experience at Le Grand Bleu, from the moment that we walked through the door we were taken great care of. We ate in the covered terrace area with a view of the sea, an extremely clean, light, airy and tastefully decorated room. The staff were very attentive, discrete in their work and gave concise answers to my many questions! The table presentation, crockery and glasses were of high quality and I particularly liked the mini hoover that was used to eliminated bread crumbs. *The meal was amazing! I had the 30€ menu, a delicate taster dish, followed by the haddock, prawn and pickles, followed by the mouth watering crispy braised beef cheek and dessert mille feuille chocolate and salted caramel mousse with caramelised peanuts. The 3 courses were absolutely delicious, ample portions and beautifully creative presentation and outstanding value for money. A fresh glass of champagne when I arrived and a glass of rose during my meal. Our little westie was also welcomed and given a small bowl of water. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and hope to be able to return in the future to relax and taste the Chefs unique cuisine. Congratulations!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Le Grand Bleu – A Refined Welcome to France After crossing the English Channel from Dover to Calais by car ferry — a journey that carries a certain old-world romance — I arrived in France with a hunger sharpened by sea air and anticipation. It was Le Grand Bleu that welcomed me, and in doing so, set the tone for a return to true French refinement. The atmosphere was elegant yet warmly unpretentious, with the soft murmur of French voices and the scent of butter and sea in the air. I began with the foie gras, and I must say — it was magnificent. But more than just the foie gras itself, it was the artful presentation and the exceptional variety of accoutrements that elevated it: fig compote, house-made brioche, fleur de sel, a touch of spice here, a splash of sweetness there — each note in perfect harmony. A masterclass in balance and indulgence. The staff were poised and attentive, giving just the right amount of presence without intrusion — a hallmark of a restaurant that knows its craft. To enjoy such a meal upon arrival in Calais, just as the sun began to lower over the port, was not merely satisfying — it was poetic. Le Grand Bleu is not just a restaurant, it is a landing — a gentle, luxurious return to French soil.

This shopping center was a pleasant surprise! It was clean, and there was plenty of free parking, making it easy to find a spot. The variety of products was very good, and I found some unique items. The prices were competitive, and I even found some great deals. Overall, a great shopping experience!

Unfortunately half of the building is empty with shops such as Nike no longer there.. It's also not really an outlet, for some shops they have mostly normal collection with a few outlet deals. Don't expect large discounts either. Probably will go back to trying the Ashford outlet after crossing with Eurotunnel, as this was not worth our time anymore.

They put the wrong information on their website. I bought 2 bottles of springbank 12yo cask strength. On their website they said it was a bottling from 2020 (= batch 20). I paid for this bottles. Instead they send me 2 bottles that were bottled in 2024 (= batch 26). I immediately send a mail to search for a solution (maybe a discount because i paid to much for a 2024 bottling). After a week i send a reminder because i didn't got any answer. Another week later i send another reminder. Now we are 3 weeks after my purchase and still they don't react. The customer service is worthless. Don't buyt at this shop. I will do my best to let this know to all my whisky friends (and believe me there are a lot and in many different countries) to not buy at this shop!!

We came here this evening and it was our only evening meal out during this trip, but the best meal we have had out in a long time. Lovely presentation and flavour, and brilliant service. Unfortunately we realised too late that we had no cash to leave a tip. Would thoroughly recommend. We had the steak & blue cheese sauce and lamb wellington, both tasted amazing! Excellent food, wines by the glass and friendly service in a typically French ambience a couple of minutes from the motorway exit and opposite shopping centre parking. Perfect for a easy lunch or dinner stopover before or after taking Le Shuttle. Highly recommended!

The Brasserie de la mer is a modern seafood restaurant with a large terrace. The menu features mussels, classic French fish dishes, and seafood platters. The restaurant is dog friendly and accepts reservations.
Loved the mussels and oysters—super fresh and tasty! Got lucky with a parking spot right outside too. The drink I had was really good, just wish I remembered the name! Will definitely come back.

Food is pretty good here but if you're not a seafood fan then there aren't loads of options. Very large range of mussel dishes. Went here for a birthday meal back in 2022 and now in 2025 and was great both times.

Really great value for money. Very fast. The waitress where so fast it felt a bit like industrial production how you where treated as a guest. Friendly personal. Food quality amazing and it tastes really good.

Wanted to have a seafood meal as we are right next to the sea. We were not disappointed by the freshness of the food, or the service. We have nothing but positives to say about this restaurant. All round excellence, would highly recommend it👍
Karen M — Google review
Fantastic food. Had the muscles and a shell fish platter and couldn't complain about a thing. We arrived early and atmosphere was very quiet so made us dubious but picked up and filled out as the food quality would expect
Megan H — Google review
We were here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Wanted to have mussels and the waitress suggested the cream and garlic one. I love mussels the French style. Also the spicy version from back home. But this one, dint have much garlic flavour as I would have liked it. Would have liked the one with white wine I felt. Haddock fillet with rice and salad was really yumm. Desserts on my boy’s insistence had to choose the three flavoured icecream. Was a disappointment. But they did have crème brûlée and Panacotta on the menu and I’m sure they would have been nicer. We sat in the closed terrace. Was clean and busy. The waitresses dint really speak much English, but was able to communicate. There was some waiting time after order and also to order dessert. Don’t expect the fine dining experience and the waiters checking on you. You have to wait and call them to get attention.
AMBIKA M — Google review
When we visit Calais, we usually dine at Oh Mouettes and have never been disappointed. However they are closed on Wednesday. We had a walk and looked at the menu of the Brasserie de la Mer which seemed inviting. We were seated promptly, it was early evening and not many tables occupied. Waitress took drinks and menu order in a reasonable timeframe. My wife had the menu Capitaine, I just had the steak bavette with roquefort sauce. My wife's fish soup arrived quite promptly and she was very pleased with it. The main courses however took a long time to arrive even though there seemed to be plenty of staff and the restaurant was quiet. both my wife's Dos fish was dry and my steak which I ordered cooked medium rare was well overdone and dry. Both dishes were below average and any chain steakhouse could done better with my steak. The fries accompanying though were very good as was my wife's dessert. Unfortunately, 3 waiting staff seemed too busy chatting to each other around the desk to clear our main course plates so I had to request that they did so after waiting for twenty minutes. All in all underwhelming and not exactly cheap.
Chris W — Google review
If you want to mark your arrival in France, or are just about to leave, this is the perfect place to do it. There's more to Calais than a ferry port! I had the classic moules-frites, but I saw others having wonderful seafood platters. I'd recommend the Jet menu, which includes mussels, a delicious selection of desserts and coffee.

Au Vieux Fourneau is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food and skillful cooking techniques. The dishes are artfully presented and the tables offer a sense of privacy. Despite being discovered on a quiet Monday evening when other establishments were closed, this restaurant stood out positively. While the steak salmon was good but not outstanding, the pasta and vegetables lacked flavor. However, the Scallops kebab surpassed expectations with its super delicious taste, even outshining the salmon dish.
Food was wonderful I myself can't fault it . Service was great to . Definitely come back again .

Enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal from the good value Menu Plaisir plus a complimentary additional entree, all accompanied by the Vin de Maison Blanc (2 bottles between three of us). Service was courteous and friendly with language (we're English) not too much of a barrier.

Lovely meal with excellent, friendly service. A treat for our family on the last night of our skiing holiday before we catch Le Shuttle home tomorrow. (... and much better value than the fondue restaurant we visited in Haute Savoie)
M W — Google review
We found this place on a Monday evening, most restaurants in the area were closed. So we gave it a try. And we liked what we ordered. We ordered steak salmon, that was good but nothing special. The pasta and veggies were bland. We tried Scallops kebab too, it was super delicious, better than the salmon. The price is cheaper than in Belgium, but I guess it's just normal price for that area. The staff are friendly and can speak a bit English. The menu is available in English too.
Alfi ( — Google review
Truly an exceptional experience. Food was delicious, well-portioned and professionally prepared. My partner went for salmon and chocolate mousse with pistachio and I went for Flemish beef stew and a crème brulé - all 4 items highly recommended! Got a free little appetizer, very classy. Special mention for the warmth of the owner: my partner's French wasn't perfect and he kindly offered an English menu. Moreover: a cycling club arrived and asked if there was place for them, which he graciously accepted and even offered to store their bikes in a side/back room of the restaurant. True hospitality you rarely encounter anymore.

The City of Lace and Fashion museum, housed in a former lace factory, is dedicated to showcasing the local industry's impact on fashion throughout history. Visitors can witness demonstrations of lace-making machines and explore exhibits that delve into the evolution of fashion. The museum also features exhibitions highlighting emerging designers in addition to its extensive collection of historical artifacts. The staff is friendly, and visitors can enjoy delicious food during their visit.
This place surprised me, I knew nothing about lace when I entered and learned plenty as I viewed and read the supporting information it made me realise how difficult it is even today to make lace. I also saw a demonstration of lace being made, which required plenty of setup I spent 2 hours and given the price I paid its good value for money and an excellent place to visit even if you are not a lady. Thanks to the staff for an interesting couple of hours.
Luke K — Google review
This is a great museum that teaches you about lace, how lace was made and is still made today and showcases lace throughout the years. There is a demonstration of the traditional lace machine in action. The temporary exhibit currently there is really an awesome play between lace and art.

A story of lace, from children who made lace in orphanages to machine made pieces. We saw an exhibition of pieces by a Sino French artiste Yinqin Yin. Lots of display pieces to see, a little shop, and café. It's accessible for all, handicapped, elderly, ( my parents 87 and 83 were enchanted )and children. Plenty of places to sit. Maybe a guided visit would be a good idea?

Very interesting museum. Some beautiful lace and machinery exposed. Do not miss the lace making show where they demonstrate how the machine operates. The garments showcased are kept in perfect condition. The gift shop is also a very nice visit in itself since they sell many products made with Calais lace coming from local factories and from the museum lace machines. -M

Du Vignoble au Verre is a charming restaurant located at No. 43 Place des Armes, offering a cozy atmosphere and classic French cuisine. The restaurant boasts an extensive selection of over 400 wines from various vineyards across France, including hidden gems from the Northern region and local wineries. The menu features carefully curated local dishes that perfectly complement the wine selection, ensuring a delightful dining experience for both locals and visitors.
This place absolutely smashed it out of the park. No fancy presentation just nice tasty food with a good wine selection matched to the food. It's worth noting that this is a small restaurant with a one man front of house so if come late you might need to be patient while you get served. Also we were there on a Saturday night and were the first table to arrive. By the time we were half way through our meal a couple of things on the menu had sold out. I also really appreciate that if you order a main for a couple of kids to share they will plate it up into two portions for the kids. So my tip would be to make a reservation and come early.

Superb wine and excellent food at reasonable prices. I'm wary of giving this great place a good rating because it might encourage more of us Brits to visit what is a typically French restaurant (in the 'touristy' Place d'Armes). So yes, it's great, but if you're a Brit please go somewhere else! 🙂
David D — Google review
The food was okay, nothing extraordinary for us. Gratefull that they let us without booking but the service was very poor. Appetizers came quick then we waited 50 minutes for our mains. Not ideal if you have an impatient toddler dining with you. Then you have to spend atleast 15 minutes trying to call the waiter, he serves ALL the tables which were all full. Overall, we've been to better restaurants with better food.

The French restaurant Au Goût Du Jour in Calais is reminiscent of France with its SNCF station theme music and the aroma of Nutella-filled crepes. While the menu is not extensive, it follows the tradition of small French eateries by offering a limited selection of high-quality dishes like gratine de la mer and filet de bar. This family-owned establishment provides excellent value with its two-course menu starting at only 11 euros.

What a brilliant place for dinner in this canteen style restaurant/cafe. I went with my nephew who is ten, a fussy eater and vegetarian. He loved the pasta with olive and tomato and went crazy for the crepes which are made in front of you. Its a perfect place for the whole family and very easy to access if you are in Calais or passing through as it's in the supermarket so easy parking. I didn't know about Flunch and I will definitely come back. Staff and security were really helpful and the food was tasty. It got busy with lots of different people having their dinner once it got to 6.30pm. id definitely recommend if you are with kids or just want an easy, relaxing place to eat with a lot of choice. I ate salads and a food selection of them too.

A good place for lunch. Self service for cold starters, salads, puddings and drinks (wine and non- alcoholic). Pick what you want as a main off the illuminated menu and pay. Cashier gives you a buzzer to let you know when your hot main is ready. Help yourself to a selection of vegetables and chips.

Nice branch of Flunch. Slightly limited selection of prepared cold plates compared to others we've visited, but still good quality. Ordered a Latte (which I asked if they did and was told yes) and got given a pot of tea without the milk. Didn't feel like I could complain as the waiter just didn't seem interested in anything. Didn't order any food as if the drinks order could not be correct then I wouldnt like to think what whether the food order would be correct 🤔 I eventually paid and when I told the member of staff that the order was wrong he just asked me if I wanted milk....to which I said no as it wasn't what I ordered in the first place 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

We had the set menu here, the food was cooked beautifully and was very filling. The lady who served us was very helpful, friendly and a credit to the company. Will definitely return here again for food.

Had lunch here during a day trip 'booze cruise'. My friend had the muscles,I had the omelette.. both plentiful and delicious.. only two gripes, the food was served with two white rolls not French bread. No issue but would have had that french touch. Second gripe was the male waiter, forgot his smile, personality, customer service. He didn't want to be there.

Terre De Boissons is a remarkable wine store that not only offers an impressive variety of wines but also boasts an extensive collection of beers from around the world. One striking feature is the affordability of Icelandic beer, which is much cheaper compared to Reykjavik. Although they have extravagant glassware priced up to 60 euros per glass, one cannot deny their appeal to beer enthusiasts and wine connoisseurs alike.
Great place to shop. So many brands and friendly helpful staff. Nice to sit and relax with your favourite beer or glass of wine.

Essentially a wine warehouse inside Cité Europe shopping mall, on floor -1, located by the restaurants. The staff aren't interested in your presence at all, it seemed as though we were more of a nuisance to them. However, the wine is very reasonably priced and there's a great selection, set out by region. You can also purchase spirits and many different types of beers.
Gary B — Google review
Absolutely useless if you plan to shop tax free despite mentioning it at the entrance window! Selected over £100 of red wine shop was empty three cashiers sitting down none of them could be asked to fill tax free form, great way to do business! Avoid if you expect any customer service! Other wine shops nearby offer much better customer experience.
Sebastien B — Google review
Best selection of scotch in Calais. I feel they are trying too hard to stock something of everything, rather than specialising in fewer wines with better deals. Why so little Cremant? With carrefour a hundred yards away, it must be tough, but well worth a visit.
Jeff R — Google review
A bit pricey, but a wide selection of drinks on tap. Plus the food looked amazing.
Luke H — Google review
Had just marvelled at the wine and beer selection in Carrefour when I spotted this place. Vast choice of wines but what struck me was the vast world beer selection. Icelandic beer was far cheaper than in Reykjavik ! I resisted the giant glassware up to 60 euros a glass but might be back. Suit beer lovers and oenephiles. There is a small bar for degustation in the middle of the store.
David H — Google review
Probably the greatest ranged retailer of beer paraphernalia but at the cost of a specialist shop rather than booze cruise prices. The range of ales and lagers is unparalleled on this scale however the hypermarket does more generic beer at a better price. It’s the same unit as Tesco used to be in. Beer on tap is very reasonably priced and bar snacks are good. Try to only buy niche beers here as other suppliers are cheaper.

Favourite shop... ever! So many different types of alcoholic beverages from all around the word! Most of them at an affordable price too. (Great for xmas/bday shopping)

Me and my wife stopped here on the way back to the tunnel for a coffee, but stayed for lunch, too. I had a cassolette du poison, my wife had the averted, and neither of us could fault it. The price was good and the taste was exceptional! With the coffees, food and a couple of beers it came to just under £42, which I thought was excellent value! We come across to France every year, and I've now marked this on my phone, as we shall definitely stop here in the future. And the staff were very accommodating.

The pleasant eatery, Le Restaurant Campanile Calais, offers a delightful selection of appetizers presented in a self-service manner. Additionally, patrons can indulge in an array of delectable desserts at the buffet. The establishment provides an ample variety of main course options, and the personnel are exceptionally cordial and proficient in English communication. The waitstaff is consistently wonderful and includes charming female servers.
10-12 mins from Calais port. Checkin at 1.30am no problem. The reception was polite and friendly. Room was as expected. Basic, clean and comfortable. Ideal for a stop over after a long drive from the UK. Continental breakfast served from 6am to about 10am was good. Even the cool pancakes were tasty. No cooked breakfast. Free parking available but spaces are limited and some bays are slim. Highly recommend this place for a night stop over.

That's expensive... Room cleaning isn't done automatically: you have to request it at reception. Do not accept room 9, which is next to the technical room where the cleaning equipment is stored and which overlooks the "terrace" and the breakfast room. No restaurant service on weekends, and the hotel is far from the tourist area and restaurants of Calais (a 30-35 minute walk from the city center). The only positive point: the friendly welcome from the staff. In any case, I hope never to return, even for a future sports competition. Ferry service
River port
The Calais car ferry is a popular gateway to France for many Britons, located just 34km from Dover. It offers convenient access to the Cote d'Opale and Normandy, featuring picturesque countryside and charming fishing villages. Travelers have shared experiences of flexible scheduling with different ferry operators, such as DFDS and P&O, allowing for earlier crossings and enjoyable amenities on board.
Let's be honest, this is a port. It is not meant to be a luxury holiday spot in and of itself. It is functional and the staff do their best to get a huge volume of traffic on and off of ships. Okay, on the day we departed there was a French port-workers strike (seemingly a common thing), but we still got onto the ship with not too much delay. There are several roundabouts, and as some have said the signage could be better, but it is doable. The European customs kiosk is a little off the main path but that too is locatable if you use the map and the landmarks.
Keith D — Google review
When you arrive at Calais Ferry Terminal, the directions are clear, with road signs along the way pointing towards Dover. Before reaching the terminal, you will first go through both French and UK customs and immigration checks, which are located in the same area. You don’t need to get out of your car, and the whole process takes about 10 minutes. Once that’s done, you can head to the terminal and line up for boarding. The crossing takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. The ship is very stable during the journey. Onboard facilities include: restaurants, restrooms, a duty free shop, a small children’s play area, a paid game arcade, and an open deck for enjoying sea views. As you approach the UK coast, you can catch a spectacular view of Dover’s famous White Cliffs of Dover. From Calais in France to Dover in the UK, this self drive ferry trip is smooth and convenient. If you’re planning to return to the UK from Europe, this is the cheapest self drive route recommend.

Very slow checking and boarder control. Even though said be here one hour before your departure still tells you that you lost your ship and have to get the next one and then take over 2 hours to get through the checkpoint. Don’t make sense.

Extremely disappointing experience at the Port of Calais. We arrived at 3pm for our 6pm crossing, but the queues were incredibly long and disorganized. The "priority" tickets we purchased made absolutely no difference—we were stuck in the same long line as everyone else. The service was poor and the wait time was ridiculous. Not happy with the value for money for the tickets we bought.

Carrefour is a popular destination for travelers using LeShuttle to get to the Continent. It's conveniently located just five minutes away from the terminal, making it easily accessible for a quick shopping spree. Visitors praise Carrefour for its extensive selection of items, including home appliances, cleaning solutions with distinct aromas, pastries, jam, wine, and beautiful sets of bowls. Some visitors find the food section slightly disappointing in terms of space allocation but appreciate the excellent wine selection.

Whether you're buying bread, cheese, meat, or biscuits, there is a lot to choose from. The examples could go on, but it is best to visit one and then compare!

If a well known UK beer did supermarkets this would be it. Never seen anything like it. The produce on display was unbelievable. Shows you how far behind some of our supermarkets are.

We love this supermarket in City Europe, a good last chance to shop for fabulous produce before boarding our crossing home. Let's not forget wine & beer...a huge choice and usually some good special offers on wine. During our visit today, a very helpful staff member offered tastings of special offers wines. This store is easy to get to, is well laid out & stocks everything you need from food to housewares, stationery & everything in between.
Stephanie C — Google review
This store was positioned as having high quality food. It was similar to a Sainsbury’s in the UK. The bakery section specifically and pastries were below expectations unfortunately. Maybe we had expected too much.
B T — Google review
It was a very big well set out super store. It was clean and tidy. The staff where very helpful. The stock was a bit low on certain items, but they was refilling the shelves.

DO NOT LEAVE A MOTORHOME UNATTENDED IN THE CARPARK !!! We had a stow away migrant in our bathroom!! He broke our roof light to get in. The onsite security are useless and we didn’t see a sign saying don’t leave your van. The shopping is pretty good but no better than anywhere else in France so AVOID The problem
Karl A — Google review
Good location for return trip back to ferry Port. They have wide selection of products and puts Tesco's to shame. Good wine section where you can find anything from really cheap to more expensive quality wines. Only minus is that they have only few tills open. On Saturday middle of the day only 3 or 4 tills open in a big supper market like this is really poor.

Massive selection of wines and spirits. You can get food there too. It's cheaper than duty-free for people travelling to the UK. Still strongly recommend this place. Very often, there is a 20% discount if you spend over 100 EUR! See the amount saved in tax refund on the picture. They have an enlarged shop floor area now!

Very good pricing and helpful staff. Great selection, close to the port and good value. If you're a Brit you can get a 15% tax discount on what you buy. You have to take the invoice to the French customs at the port fyi. Simple process which takes five mins.
Graham G — Google review
Came here to get some wine on the way back from a business trip. Good selection of wines etc. Plus they also sold some food stuff inc bread. 5 star rating because of the young guy in the check-out, who very patiently explained in English how to claim tax back at Le Shuttle terminal. Worth another 15 % off.

Prices have gone up unfortunately but still has good selection of wines and beer. Staff very kind and polite 😊 Not enough staff as broken glass and wet floor left unattended. long queues baring in mind we had a time limit to be in, pack items on coach to leave to get the ferry back to UK.

Nestled in an industrial park, The Calais Wine Superstore, also known as Majestic Calais or Naked Calais, is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. This charming outlet offers exceptional service, with staff like Herve providing personalized recommendations that you might not have considered otherwise. The store is conveniently located and boasts English-speaking staff who make the shopping experience seamless.
You just can't beat the deals here. If you are ever planning a big party, it is worth the trip to France just to stock up on these deals. In fact, they deliver to the UK, so get in touch with these guys and place an order. We have been several times, and this is definitely where we will get much of our wines in the future. They also have a bar where you can sample before you purchase.
Daniel P — Google review
An excellent day out, these guys are open late on Sunday when the hypermarches are not, are extremely competitively priced, kind, friendly and courteous. Excellent customer service and with top notch knowledge of their products and services highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Very good experience. If you purchase more than €100 you will get tax refund. The staff are very helpful, the young lady helped us registered skip tax apps. Wine and prosecco are good price, definitely much cheaper than the UK.
Tanya ฺ — Google review
Excellent selection of wines- lots of which you can taste in the sample room for free. The staff were incredibly helpful- I knew nothing about 'skip tax' and they helped download the app and guide me through all the setup, then explained exactly what I needed to do at the shuttle terminal. Brilliant service, and unbeatable prices for wine 🙌🏼

Diane L — Google review
Absolutely solid level of service and this is the second year doing it. Order must be made ideally in advance and they will have it on a trolley ready for you for easy loading to car. The staff speak perfect English, give you clear instructions on how to claim tax back at the port, and also make sure you don’t breach your allowance so there are no nasty surprises at customs. My parting words are always “see you next year guys”
Ronnie P — Google review
Still a really good stopoff before you head to the Calais ports. Great quality wines at very cheap prices compared to UK supermarkets. Most seem to be bought direct from the vineyards. The best wine bargains are of course from France but there are good offers on wines from all over the world too.

Decathlon Calais is a spacious and well-organized store with a wide variety of sports equipment. Customers can test many items, such as bikes and skateboards, on the premises. The store maintains a low noise level and minimal announcements. While some areas were empty with signs about preparing for winter, the overall selection is good with reasonable prices. Although there was a lack of climbing equipment, the store offers an excellent range of walking clothing and cycling gear.
A good decathlon store. Prices are good and the selection in this store is good too. I went in for climbing equipment but there was a lack of this with only a couple of items to choose from. However, for walking clothing and cycling stuff there is a great selection to choose from.
Bradley H — Google review
Nice site but, surprisingly, the personnel doesn't speak English. Being so close to Calais, the shop receives lots of English-speaking people, and is not understandable that the personnel only speaks French.
Professor H — Google review
A clean store with quite a lot of variety in the items exposed. The best part: one can test many of the items, including bikes and skateboards, on the premises. Another plus: the noise is rather low for a shop this size and the announcements are kept to a minimum. On the down side: some of the areas were empty with just a few signs about preparing the isles for Winter.
Freight L — Google review
Avoid if you want anything done on your bike (mine was made worse) or you don’t want to spend lots of money. Although if you know what you want and can stick to it, it’s a great shop.

Good Decathlon as they go. Usual sporting goodies. Self scan not very good. Didn't realise Decathlon products have so many barcodes. Which one do you scan? And they have RFID, so you don't actually need to scan anything anyway. Store works best if you have the patience to actually interact with a member of staff to check out, as opposed to self scan where you'll interact with the security guard who views you suspiciously when you try and scan stuff yourself.

Decathlon's are more either less the same all over the Europe and probably in the whole entire world. Perhaps i notified that in this Decathlon despite all the goods and price similarities with let's say Decathlon in Sankt Petersburg(russian federation) - goods selection is wider and discounts are better.

This retail haven specializes in selling wine by the case, alongside a diverse selection of beers and spirits. With its impressive tasting counter, visitors can sample various wines before making their selections. The store offers competitive prices that may make you rethink your domestic purchases!
Great wine store, just like the UK Majestic but at prices that will make you regret domestic purchases! Very good tasting selection and easily located for rail or ferry. They offer good deals for free crossing if you spend a fair amount £250. They will also help you with larger selections for parties/booze cruise etc very helpful. You can always change an online order in store if you taste something better.

Great range of good wines. Not all cheap plonk. Staff were English speaking and very helpful with choosing wines. Tell them what you like and they will direct you to similar products which you can then taste. What's not to like. Only reason for 4 stars is that there were a couple of immigrants hanging around outside. Bit off putting.
Jane W — Google review
We enjoyed our visit here. We found Felicity very helpful, knowledgeable and a good sales person. Not pushy, but as she knew her wines, was able to point us to similar and nicer wines. We bought more than intended, but are happier with what we bought, so a definite plus. Well done Majestic and Felicity!
John R — Google review
My husband & I have been using this company in Calais for more than 10years, the quality & variety of wines never let us down. All members of the staff continue to be friendly & helpful. The prices are at least £2 less than U.K. as they state.
Ann B — Google review
While looking around the shop, I decided to look up the various wines to check the reviews on the Majestic UK website. I was surprised to find that, in many cases, the "save £x" claims were grossly exaggerated. I'm not too sure how it's allowed, to be honest. I did eventually manage to find some genuinely good deals for really highly rated wines, but I'm not sure that customers should have to validate the claimed savings...
Andy P — Google review
Very helpful English speaking staff here. Good selection of wines, some of which you can sample at your leisure. They also offer a modest selection of spirits and beers. Tip, use the click and collect service on their website if you want to save time.
Mark B — Google review
The wine choice is good as are the prices. I took a deal which paid for my Eurotunnel fares going out one day and coming back the next. The attitude of staff is not so good though, they forget that the customer is their reason for being there in the first place. Rating is based on staff helpfulness. The word service in service industry is there for a purpose.

We got charged double for a glass of red wine from what we had been charged elsewhere in Calais. The wine served here was actually inferior in taste quality as well. While we were there an elderly Englishman was forcibly ejected by staff when he questioned his bill. It was very unpleasant. A group of local youths who were friends/ family of the staff found it amusing. Myself and my friend then saw the wine list hidden on a wall, surprisingly nothing on it matched what we had been charged. When we questioned this all we got was a shrug! Maybe the Union Jack stuck on the wall should have prepared us for this experience. Calais is a great town to visit and it should be applauded for its efforts to attract tourists. The bars on Bld. Jacquard are friendly and very reasonably priced. These are the places that I would recommend. The Visitor Centre is also very good.
