The old part is lovely renovated, sunny and charming. The new part (much bigger) is bit harder to enjoy, rather cold and empty. I wouldn't say it was "fun", rather tiring but interesting nevertheless.

We arrived on the day this place was free for international museums day....I am so glad it was free otherwise I would have felt robbed. This was mostly The Emperors new cloths time. I love good modern art, but this was not good. Sorry I was looking forward to my visit

A beautiful museum with old and new architecture, villa La Planta built 1874-1875 and the modern extension built 2011. The Giacometti family's work is very present, amazing pieces a sight to art lovers. Not to be missed is La Planta café, simply beautiful

Amazing museum. A must visit place when you're in chur. The architecture is stunning with classic and modern constructions combined. There is also a Cafe in between the garden. The surroundings are usually pretty crowded (manor is nearby). The museum has such an amazing interior aswell as exterior architecture.

I found the architectural features of the new building to be as fascinating as the exhibits. The stairways, foyer and room transitions are extraordinary, especially as you make the underground journey from the new building into the old building.

The Ratisches Museum is a fantastic impression of Raetian history within Switzerland. Studying it, you can still do it within just over an hour. I took 1 hr 20. Its cellar has the ancient history & its artefacts & lighting make it very atmospheric. The audio guide is good - via a QR code. More English academic publication of regional history & archaeology would be helpful.

Sorry but this museum was underwhelming. It was free as part of the city tax you pay, the hotel will give you a card where you can enter the museum for free. But I really didn’t enjoy it, nothing interesting compared to all the other museums in the bigger cities.

Sadly we had only little time here but really nice, would love to revisit! Especially family track with a ring of keys makes is more tangible for kids.

A rather cozy cathedral with a rich history dating back to the 12th–13th century, officially consecrated in 1272. It was built on the site of even older churches, with archaeological finds reaching all the way to the 5th century. The cathedral mixes Romanesque and Gothic styles, with its massive Romanesque west window being considered the largest medieval window in the Graubünden region. Inside, you’ll find a beautiful late-Gothic high altar carved by Jakob Russ in 1492. The tower was significantly rebuilt after a fire in 1811. An interesting fact: during the Reformation, the cathedral and the surrounding bishop’s court became a kind of Catholic island in the city—separated from the rest of Chur for almost three centuries.

Quite a beautiful Cathedral with some very interesting art. The one altar that is to the left just as you enter is amazing - it is dated to the 16th century but there is no attribution to any artist. The main altar, however, is the best piece of art and is magnificent.

One of the landmarks in Chur. Fairly small for a Cathedral. Located in the old town area. Was closed when we were there. Peaceful surroundings and well maintained building and cemetery. About a 20 minute walk from the station.

It was amazing experience for us. We went from St. Moritz to Tirano. The train has panorama windows and the driving is very comfortable and gentle. The views are breathtaking. I highly recommend everyone to try Bernina express.

Great experience. From chur to Tirano take the Right side for more view. Both sides are great but the major attributes can be appreciated at the right side (from Chir to Tirano). Something that I don't know was that they offer a gift (a mini carrier with chocolate hearts and a beverage tea).

Absolutely incredible! No words to describe the beauty of Alps throughout the journey from Chur to Tirano. This Bernina express is unique and definitely a must try lifetime experience.

This was the best train journey I’ve ever experienced. I went in first class but space and seats are probably the only difference between the two classes. The views are just stunning! You go over mountains, fields, glaciers I could just keep naming things. Around the end (if you are going from Tirano to St Moritz) you can get off at the highest point for pictures and a coffee. The staff are super friendly and always try to make your journey pleasant. This exhilarating ride takes about two and a half hours (if you again are going from Tirano to St Moritz). I highly recommend going on the right side as you get more amazing panoramic views though both sides are great. It is best if you book in advance although upgrades are sometimes available on the day. 5 stars.

Beautiful experience! I traveled today in 1st class from Chur to Tirano — it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The landscapes were breathtaking, the train was clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere very peaceful. However, the Wi-Fi link didn’t work, and unfortunately the toilet in 1st class was out of order, which was a bit disappointing for such a premium journey. Other than that, everything was lovely — I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy one of the most scenic train rides in Europe.

We travel to Milan for our vacation, but noticed that there is such a cool train track, Bernina Express. So we decided to try booking the entire trip via Klook. This turned out to be the best decision we made in this trip. The mountainous and forest view along the train route is so beautiful, breathtaking and stunning. Please see the photos and vedios I uploaded. Don’t think too much, just book and go. There are many ways to do this, please look up more detail in Google or Youtube. Highly recommend to go. It’s a MUST in your life time.

One of the best trip we've ever made, a must for any couple despite it was far from our hotel (3 hiur to reach it) but it worth ever minute. On time, good value for money and refreshing. Not easy to book online, you should buy the ticket, then "separately" the seat !

There are a lot of things for smaller kids to look at ( stiffed animals, pictures, videos, nests...) , touch (different furs, horns, skulls...) or for older booklet to solve tasks and quizzes. Since very few signages, i post quite a lot of pictures to guide future hikers. Take bus 2 to heckenweg. Walk up the route posted. Rmb to use only the trails mark by the white red paints on the tree trunks. Other routes slippery, so hard to climb even if short cut. Really steep in some places. Be warned. It maybe bit difficult to find this place from the railway station as all the sign boards are in German. You may either take bus 10/11 or 12, or remember the German word "Brambrüesch" of this place and ask a local, or head towards the lower end of the cables which are visible from the city center.

Fabulous ride on 2 cars to the top. The day was warm and sunny so we were able to see far into the distance. Nice stroll at the top to take photos before our descent. Did notice had we been more active there are plenty of paths to hike further. And if you fancy mountain biking down we'll that's available too.

Inside, you’ll find beautiful stained-glass windows, including some created by the famous Swiss artist Augusto Giacometti. Yep, part of that Giacometti family — the one that also gave us sculptor Alberto Giacometti. They often host concerts here too, and the acoustics are excellent. Just make sure your phone doesn’t start playing ABBA mid-performance — even Giacometti’s windows wouldn’t save you then. 😊

For the four of us in my family, we shared 2 dishes between ourselves and two kids; the weinerschnitzel and the pork with morel sauce. Everything was delicious and affordable! We had a great lunch in this cozy bistro with lovely service by the owner. Ma Ma's pizza & pasta taste good. They don't serve many dishes at the same time, but it is worth trying.

My husband dined here last night with our daughter. They enjoyed their meal so much they came home with extra ricotta spinach ravioli for dinner tonight. They are such a treat. We will come back for certain and look forward to trying everything. Highly recommend for dinning in or taking home fresh past.

I‘m a Momo‘s lover and these ones didn’t disappoint. We were there for lunch, we didn’t make a reservation but we were really lucky to found a table on the terrace. The Wok was very rich in flavour, a bit salted but very good. Highly recommended if you are a Momo’s lover like me

As always one if not the BEST restaurant in Chur. And I have also tried many momo places in Switzerland and the moms here are the most delicious around. The Portions are also quite big and the prices good, especially in Switzerland and the staff is very welcoming and kind. I can recommend the Happy Momo deal if you are 2 or more People!

An outstanding place, I have a Lebanese friend back home in the states that introduced me to Arabic meals so I like to try on my travels. This place was perfect for me, nice manageable menu, with dishes packed with flavors! Even the fries were delicious, they had a very nice season salt on them setting them apart. The shawarma was packed with well coated beef and the side sausage they provide made it difficult to chose so I kept switching back and forth. If you want to experience a traditional Arabic meal give this place a chance! I didn't get her name, she had long black braided hair, but she provided absolutely great service. So polite, friendly and easily helps with the menu.

Our family of 4 (2 kids- 8 & 7) had a wonderful 1 night stay. Our room had a bed for 2 and a set of bunks. We were in town to catch the Bernina Express and it was a wonderful location to do so. Check in and check out went smoothly. Our friends stayed here also and we stopped at Deness Express for some ice cream sandwiches after dinner and ate them together in the community area while watching the television and playing board games. Everything we needed was within walking distance, including places to eat and the train station. Although there was no AC, we were very comfortable and kept the windows open (late September). We did not have the correct outlet converter and the wonderful lady working the front counter allowed us to borrow one to charge our phones. The complimentary cappuccino was a wonderful surprise upon checkout, too. There is nothing fancy at all about this hotel and it is a minimalists dream come true, but it had everything we needed! The hostel has a very interesting background! Would definitely recommend staying here.

And the fact that this was formally the "toughest jail in Switzerland" is awesome. Love the place and the area! As you all know this was an old prison transfer to a hostel. Me and my sister stayed at the single room that has its own bathroom. Everything is nicely design, very functional, bright, quiet, fun to walk around and great to get to know the history of building. The room was also bigger than we thought with enough luggage space under the bed. Architects/ designers did a great job transforming the building! Hope it keep up for many great years to come!!! We love Chur and walked to the cable car was only 10 minutes (must do!!) Enjoy!!!

Probably the best hostel in Switzerland. An atmospheric and wonderfully renovated former prison; it has modern facilities and is wonderfully situated within the old town of Chur. It is clean and quiet and there is a good restaurant next to it. The hostel bedrooms have an ensuite toilet and each bed has a curtain for privacy. Friendly and helpful staff too.

A delightful hostel with many original features of the prison which was really interested. We stayed in a 2 bed room which was a bunk bed with a lovely shower en suite. The ladder to the top bunk was a little painful for my middle aged feet but it was comfortable to sleep in. Chur was lovely and the hostel was a highlight.

I had a fantastic stay at this Hostel! It’s in a great location and everyone was really helpful. I accidentally booked a shared dorm! but everyone was bubbly and all went really well! Love the fact that they give you a coffee in the morning if you take the sheets off your bed! Great community area with drinks in( you have to pay but it’s convenient if you fancy a drink) 🥃 It’s a really quirky Hostel and I definitely stay again! Very clean and love that there is an ensuite toilet in the room.

We had a fantastic stay at Bogentrakt and only wish we were in Chur for longer than one night. Our room was fresh, clean, bright and comfortable. The staff were super friendly and the concept of the accommodation made for a fun stay. We enjoyed the included breakfast and had a great chat to some lovely ladies travelling from Portugal.

So big I couldn't fing most of the items I were looking for. In the end I had to ask a sales person to show me where the items are. Nice place to shop 👌 ☺️ a little expensive ,but you can a lot of food stuff that you don't find in other Supermarkets
