Amisos Hill, located in Samsun, Turkey, is a charming destination offering a blend of history and natural beauty. Accessible via a cable-car ride, the hill features ancient tombs, a boardwalk path, and a cafe with scenic views. Visitors can explore the rich cultural heritage and enjoy breathtaking vistas while strolling along the winding paths adorned with ancient ruins and architectural marvels. Although currently undergoing renovations, the hill provides an ideal setting for sightseeing and photography.
Decent, well-kept hill with a very interesting history. The cable car is very affordable; you may have to wait a bit longer, but it’s worth it.
Dejan Z — Google review
Came here by the telefrique.. amazing view of the shore down below.. It is not so big of a place.. but worth the visit.. I put 4 stars because the restaurant there is closed for renovation.. and things would be nicer if it is open..
Lale V — Google review
Nice place to visit and spend sometime walking and viewing the city. Tickets are free for the park, however you need to pay for the Teleferik. Unfortunately, no bathrooms are available in the location
Ahmad Z — Google review
It's a good place to have a rest. But, you know, if the restaurant had working, it would be much better. Now you can't spend much time here: it's just no where. But it's really good place for sightseeing and taking photo. Oh, and it's also a place for children to play: but, again, not now, cos it's many building materials here.
Google review
The cable car was not working and not so much to do, just restaurants, toilet and a very short walk around.
Riccardo D — Google review
It is a quiet nice place, when u come home after a long day, it would be pleasure to have a cup of Turkish coffee there and enjoy the beautiful view.
Math I — Google review
There was a very nice restaurant, but I found it closed. There was repair work going on, and I found the cable car closed at 6:45 p.m. I don’t know why I visited it on Saturday.
Saba S — Google review
A great high hill with a beautiful scene, including a nice restaurant which is worth to eat there.

This park is a fantastic choice for barbecues and family outings. It boasts vast green spaces, plenty of wooden benches and marble tables, barbecue grills, and public facilities including restrooms and a prayer room. There are also playgrounds with swings, modern play equipment, a go-kart track, a seaside promenade, a bike path (bike rentals available), and a parking lot. Bandırma ferry is a must-see attraction in Samsun, Turkey. It's a replica of the 19th-century steam freighter that carried Atatürk from Constantinople to Samsun, marking the beginning of everything on May 19, 1919. The ship has been converted into a museum and is open for tourists to visit. Inside, there's a great exhibition featuring some original possessions from Atatürk.

I am quoting from the Bandirma museum: "The Bandirma boat which a fulfilled a very significant role on the the way to independent Turkish republic, has taken its unique place in the history by taking Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, as the 9th army inspector, and his eighteen friends to Samsun. The Bandirma boat was built as a passenger and cargo ship in 1878 in Scotland under the name of "Torocaderto" and wad operated for five years by a company. The Bandirma boat was used as a cargo vessel under the name of " Panderma" registered in Ottoman maritime administration ( idare-i Mahusa), bu a greek shipowner from 1893- 1910. The Bandirma boat 9th army inspector Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his 18 friends on board from Istanbul and arrived to Samsun on 19 May 1919. It served as a mail steamer the on. The Bandirma boat was out of service in 1925 and later it was dismantled. A genuine model of the Bandirma boat with its original size (47.70 m x 6.83m. x 4.27m.) was built by the Governorship of Samsun. Its environmental arrangement was realized by the Samsun Governorship and Samsun Metropol Municipality."

The Municipality of Samsun city informs that this museum was built in 1928 initially as a facility for railway construction workers. Over time, it served various purposes such as a football club building. In 2011, the building was restored and began to function as a city museum in order to transfer social memory to future generations to inform about the historical changing of, among other things, the life style and the history of lifestyle. The City Museum very near to the tramway station and it has a nice open cafeteria where you can rest after your visit and for very affordable prices.

A sandy beach surrounded by a walkway and path for bicycles and scooters; includes a wooden pier that extends into the Black Sea, all the way to the distinctive municipality cafe in the middle of the water. A beautiful, serviced coast that allows the practice of various activities, including football and basketball courts, a group of sports games, and children’s playgrounds, in addition to the possibility of swimming. Multiple benches, cafes, and restaurants extend along the coast It is a great place to spend time enjoying the sea breeze and taking pictures. Shopping
Piazza Samsun is a vibrant and expansive shopping destination located in the heart of Samsun, Turkey. This modern retail center boasts a diverse array of boutiques and international brands, ensuring that shoppers can find everything they need under one roof. The upper level features a bustling food court alongside toy stores, while other floors are dedicated to clothing, kitchenware, furniture, and more.
Very big shopping mall. All types of stores, court yard, free parking, coffee houses, library, multiplex

Terrible rules of the shopping mall. They put a bicycle stand to a place where there is no place to sit next to it. Me and my friend are bike packers therefore have all our belongings hanging on a bicycle. While one was shopping the other one had to stand half an hour at the sun without an ability to sit anywhere in a shade. The security guy didn’t let us to put our bicycles anywhere closer to the shop despite there were plenty of motorcycles standing next to the benches. Terrible experience ! They have water bowls for the dogs but treat people terribly! How nice!
Ania R — Google review
Almost the biggest shopping mall in Samsun city - Turkey, with the availability of most brands in. The upper level is mostly food court in addition to some toys brands there. The remaining levels contain different clothes, kitchen, furniture and etc. brands. You'll find what you need surely. The prices are acceptable specially if you visit it during discount seasons. Like other shopping malls, it has a very huge car parking space.

If you want to spend a nice, and quiet day, then Love Lake is the place to go. The gardens surrounding it would embrace you to a realm of joy, the air is full of refreshing scents of flowers and trees, the sky is pure and looking at it gives you the sensation that the world is still a good place, and humanity isn't so doomed. Once you walk by the lake, you'll see people walking, horses, and dogs. The water is so crisp and clear, you would see the jellyfish resting calmly. Walk few more miles and big ships will start to appear. Personally, I bring tea and my favorite book, and sit on the benches facing the lake; A thing I do quite often when I visit Samsun, and I miss whenever I leave. The only thing that would make this place even more charming, is bringing a loved one. It's indeed a wonderful place.

Ottoman, a city with a rich history, has witnessed various rulers and conquerors over the centuries. Initially taken by the Ottoman sultan Bayezid in the late 14th century, it later fell to the Turkmen Candar principality after an Ottoman defeat by Timur (Tamerlane) in 1402. The city was then recaptured by the Ottomans in 1425 after being burned by the Genoese.

- food is absolutely average for the price you pay. if you’re going for shisha the prices begin at 300 lira and go upwards. they use a tobacco i’ve never heard before which sounds like it’s special made for this franchise - music absolutely sucks, but it’s probably the same in most samsun establishments. it’s some cringe turkish pop and club music which totally doesn’t live up to the name “ottoman” - the vibe looks to be upscale but feels more pretentious than genuinely so - service is good but the waiters observe the the table too often and come to table too often to pick up trash. it’s almost like there’s an exam and the teacher is watching over you the whole time Bonus review: it took them about 30mins to serve 2 meals. If you’re into such places give it a go
Serdar — Google review
Went there for Drinks and Nargile. My Frappé was more like an Iced Coffee than a proper Frappé (just Coffee, Milk, some Syrup and Ice Cubes) - not mixed/ stirred at all. Compared to the price, the two Nargile we ordered were pretty bad. The Tobacco didn't taste very well and they didn't last long. The Fruit Platter was tasty though. Overall a really mediocre experience for a higher level price (compared to Samsun overall). The Restaurant itself is nice (Interior etc.).

That time was even planning to rent a flat on the coastline for a while. I was enjoying having strolls along the seaside and arranging small picnics on this marvelous white sand. What a great time it was. 🤍

(Translated by Google) A clean, well-maintained coastline with a long, wide walking trail, bike and scooter paths. The sea was quite choppy when we visited. There are plenty of beach businesses, but perhaps the only thing missing from the coastline is the lack of cafes and restaurants. You have to wander into the neighborhood's inner streets to find a cafe or restaurant. Other than that, it's a must-see. By the way, parking isn't a problem either. There are plenty of free parking spaces along the coastline. (Translated by Google) Our beloved beach is beautiful day and night, beautiful both summer and winter. It is among the top 3 most beautiful beaches in Türkiye. You will not feel overwhelmed even in the most crowded times of summer on the beach, which continues for 10 km without interruption and offers a wide and spacious area. There are 10 blue flag beaches along the coast, many eating and drinking areas, a green shaded area where you can sit with your chair, benches and heights for those without a chair, and a walking area. As in other coastal cities, exorbitant prices in restaurants and cafes are not seen very often, there is a price difference in proportion to the rent, but it cannot be called exorbitant. It is a very safe, lively and peaceful beach until the night hours. I hope it always stays this beautiful. I leave you with my collection of beach photos that I have taken over the last 4 years :) (Original) Gecesi ayrı gündüzü ayrı güzel, yazı ayrı kışı ayrı güzel canım sahilimiz. (Translated by Google) The Göğceli Mosque, which was made entirely of wood without using nails, is located in the Samsun Çarşamba Göğceli Cemetery. According to some sources, the mosque, which was built in 1206 during the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan I. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev, was made entirely of wood using the masonry technique. It is said that there are two more similar ones in Çarşamba district. The size of the mosque is approximately four hundred square meters. I think this incredibly beautiful mosque should be added to the UNESCO list. The structure, which is one of the largest masonry wooden mosques in Türkiye with an area of 392 square meters, is also the oldest wooden mosque in Türkiye. (Original) Tamamen ahşap malzemeden çivi kullanılmadan yapılmış olan Göğceli Camii Samsun Çarşamba Göğceli Mezarlığı içerisinde bulunuyor. Kimi kaynaklarda 1206 yılında Anadolu Selçuklu Sultanı I. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev döneminde inşa edildiği belirtilen cami tamamen ahşap malzemeden yığma tekniği ile yapılmış.

(Translated by Google) The mosque is one of the most beautiful examples of architecture built with the wooden stacking technique. There is no construction inscription for the mosque, and no recorded endowment charter has been found. As a result of tests conducted on wooden samples taken from the building by scientists from abroad, it was understood that the mosque was built in 1206 and the portico in front was added or repaired in 1335. The mosque was built with the wooden stacking technique, with wooden curtains extended along the wall as a single piece with wolf's throat inserts at the corners. No nails were used in the structure. Forged iron nails were used only in the connection of the pole heads to the beams and in the additions made to the rafters extending towards the portico sections in the harim section. Elm, ash and chestnut trees were used in many parts of the structure, such as the walls, poles, pole heads, beams and rafters. The planks used in the walls as a single piece are approximately 15-18 cm thick, 50-70 cm wide and approximately 12-20 m long. The wooden mosque is portable. The base of the structure is raised 60-70 cm from the ground with the help of logs placed on large stones. The depth below is opened to prevent the structure from getting air, moisture and decay. The interior ceiling decorations of the structure have faded and fallen off in places. The roof, which is slightly rounded on the north side, is a three-shouldered hipped roof and is covered with Turkish style tiles. The structure underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2007. In the harim, there are purlins, grafts on the rafters and pillars, and pencil-shaped embroidery made with root dyes on the roof boards. Excerpt from the Samsun provincial ministry of culture page... The view above offers a unique view with the green of nature and our Glorious TURKISH FLAG is waving. Please don't throw away the food and drink garbage you brought with you. (Original) Araçla salıpazarı merkezden ortalama 30 dakika mesafede aracınıza güveniyorsanız çıkın çünkü yol beton olmasına karşı çok dik yokuşlar ve virajlar var çıkarken aracınız hararet inerkende fren balataları aşırı ısınıyor. Arac park etme alanı yok güvenli şekilde yol kenarına park . Tabela size patikayı gösteriyor. Ayakkabılarınız kaymaz tabanlı olmalı. Patika uzun ve dik. Patika aşırı yağışlardan tahribata uğramış ve toprak kaymaları olmuş. Belli yerlerinde durup doğanın huzurunu dinlemenizi tavsiye ediyorum.

(Translated by Google) At the top of the hill are the ruins of Garpu fort. In fact, rather than the ruins, when you reach the top, the dangerous and adrenaline-filled side of the old concrete stairs leading to the castle and then the perfect view of the summit fascinate you. After the last point before reaching the top of the hill, it is not suitable for children. At this point, we need to be sensitive. From Salipazarı, you can go from the concrete asphalt road to the foot of the castle. Then it's a 20-minute drive through the forest. The path has been cleared by the municipality, it is a complete trekking path consisting of gentle ramps and plains. Bird sounds are magnificent, nature, every shade of green is here. We even collected mountain thyme, which I have not seen before in this region. The scenery along the way distracts you, definitely go. After parking your car, you have to walk through the forest for half an hour and climb the dangerous rock. The top is worth everything. The place called the castle is a steep rock about a hundred meters high. At the last stage it is necessary to climb. This part is a little dangerous. When you reach the top, a breathtaking view greets you. You watch the countless villages and forests in the surrounding area from above.

Nature preserve
Nestled in the heart of Samsun, Gölalan Şelalesi is a hidden gem that promises tranquility and breathtaking beauty. This enchanting waterfall offers visitors a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Surrounded by lush greenery, it’s an ideal spot for those seeking peace and quiet while immersing themselves in nature's wonders.
One of the most beautiful places in Samsun
Ahmed Y — Google review
Nice waterfall with a little stream and a pool to take a dip in. Water was clear. Parking can be a mess on weekends when many people come. There is neither an organized entry nor a road to the fall itself, you have to wade through the river which is a refreshing experience in summertime. You can picknick anywhere, there is fresh water and trash disposal. BUT: The amount of trash thrown around by people not only on the premises but also directly in the river is truly ungodly! It is hard to take three steps without walking into waste! Some places stink like a dumpster. Even though the waterfall itself did not have trash floating in it, taking a dip in the pool feels unsanitary due to what you see around it. Have you no culture?! The place deserves 5 stars for its beauty but because of the way people behave here 2 stars is the best I can do...

Toy museum
Canik Oyuncak Müzesi is a place that captures the interest of children and offers a diverse collection of toys, which is particularly valuable given the limited variety in Turkey. The museum showcases toys from different countries and eras, providing an enjoyable experience for families. While some visitors suggest expanding the collection, many appreciate the free entrance and the opportunity for children to explore comfortably.
I visited the İstanbul toys and therefore I can compare them. Firstly, the idea about both of them is excellent, however they should be renovated, especially can be add animated films and light shows. The İstanbul one actually is more original the other one and the museum place is historical villa. However, the new one is bigger than the older one and has car Park area,...

(Translated by Google) The Canik Toy Museum is a delightful space, appealing to both children and adults with its nostalgic and educational appeal. Inside, a wide variety of toys dating from the 18th century to the 1980s are on display. It's ideal for those who want to journey back in time. The museum is clean and organized, making it a great place to spend time with children. Admission is free and easy to access. The only drawback is that the touchable areas are limited for younger children. Nevertheless, it's a place worth visiting in Samsun.

A visit is suitable for toy lovers. It would be better to explore in detail; there are beautiful old historical toys. Each section has a QR code that you can scan to learn more. We liked it, so I'm leaving a few photos. There are many beautiful toys, dolls, cars, airplanes, anything you're looking for. We loved the old nostalgics.
