The Reformed Great Church of Debrecen, a grand neoclassical Protestant church built in 1824, stands as the symbol of the city. It is situated in the bustling city square, surrounded by shops and restaurants. The church offers visitors a chance to explore its interior with stained-glass windows, pews, and an original 19th-century organ. For those unafraid of heights, ascending to the rooftop provides breathtaking views of downtown Debrecen.
Beautiful and historical cathedral in the city centre. I used my civil servant discount which makes it even better. You can walk around and admire the interior, stained-glass windows, pews and alter. Or just have a quiet moment of contemplation and prayer. Further upstairs there is the historical church bell and original timber roof. And at the rooftop you get magnificent sweeping views of downtown Debrecen. You can see the trams coming and going, the European architecture and people going about their business. From outside the cathedral is magnificent. Amazing photo opportunities from close or faraway and there is a small park you can sit in and admire the architecture.
Joe M — Google review
Nothing special inside the church. The best was Rakoczi bell and the view from the church tower. It seems not to be very popular, but I think it is nice to see it especially if you aren't protestant.
Dorota S — Google review
I have to say, it is very pretty from the outside, this iconic church is worth visiting, I went inside and went all the way up and I really liked it, there is an elevator for you to go up, but there's also stair, I wouldn't recommend them, friend and I decided to use those and regretted the entire time, just because they are pretty old and narrow, still, we had so much fun, and the views are amazing. Also, the staff was really nice and gave us a couple of instructions for us to see the entire thing. I have to mention, it is not free to visit the inside, but I can't remember how much it was, but I thing it wasn't really expensive and they accepted both cash and card.
Daniela A — Google review
For HUF 1200 entry you get to explore the church and take a lift up to a panoramic view of the city from the roof between the towers. Recommend taking lift up and stairs down. Check out the space above the ceiling. Something you don't often get to do.
Chris L — Google review
Great cathedral with a panoramic view of the city up in the tower. Entrance is paid but good value for money, takes at least half an hour to explore and enjoy to the fullest. Built at the beginning of the 19th century it's not that old but it's the most important cathedral for Reformed Magyars, the Counter-Reformation couldn't bring this community down and neither could the Communists
Klaus W — Google review
This place is located at the top of the main central promenade running through the city and is therefore the dominating feature. Unfortunately due to a musical event I wasn't able to go inside, however I took some nice exterior video and photos.
Miles M — Google review
I was on holiday with my family and we visited this famous carneval what have been placed every year to celebrate of State Foundation Day.We really enjoyed a lot of entertainment and flower car.I highly recommend to everyone if you want to see something special.

The top most floor enables an all round view of the city centre from the terrace. It's got some really interesting pieces of art inside.. There's an entrance fee for tourists. It's a highlight for the beautiful city that's Debrecen.

The Déri Museum, situated in a neo-baroque 1920s building near the Great Church in Debrecen, is a small yet captivating museum. It houses diverse collections including art, archaeological findings, and ethnographic displays. Notable attractions include paintings by renowned Hungarian-French artist Mihaly Munkacsy.
My absolute favourite place, takes me more than 3 hours to go through all the exhibitions. Very interesting and informative, especially loving the Munkacsy paintings. The staff is knowledgeable and so kind, they know when to step on if you have any questions, and the last part where they are showing the 1944 bombing made me very emotional.
Szabo B — Google review
The Déri Museum in Debrecen offers a carefully curated journey through death, memory, and contemplation. The Egyptian section explores funerary rituals in depth, especially the mummification process: removal of internal organs, desiccation with natron, ritual bandaging, and protective amulets. Immediately afterward, the Japanese gallery provides a sharp, intentional contrast. Here, death is not denied but accepted as part of life's transient flow. The ambient sound — minimal music with a shishi-odoshi-style ticking — creates a meditative, timeless space. The Hungarian painting hall (late 19th to early 20th century) features compelling works, especially with horses and natural settings. However, many paintings are displayed in dim lighting, and descriptions are often missing in English, making the experience harder for international visitors. The emotional and spiritual peak is the Passion Trilogy by Mihály Munkácsy. In Ecce Homo, Pilate presents the scourged Christ to the crowd — a moment of theological intensity and moral judgment. In the final scene, the Crucifixion, the key traditional figures appear: Mary, John, Mary Magdalene, and Roman soldiers. Munkácsy turns the canvas into a true moral theatre, rich in pathos and layered interpretation. Highly recommended for visitors seeking depth, not just display.
Ignitude — Google review
Although relatively small, this museum is a gem. Here you can see beautiful paintings, old prehistoric artifacts, Japanese art, old traditional Hungarian objects, different biological exponents and so on.
Ana L — Google review
Some very interesting exhibits with nice touch of the floors and walls modelled according to the theme. Didn't take many photos because security guard stayed 2 metres away in most interesting exhibit. Beautiful grounds and building.
Chris L — Google review
I don't know why but I imagined this museum would be a little below par...how wrong was I?! It's a brilliant little museum! The exhibits are really well displayed and offer good descriptions that are not too long so they don't become laborious to read and follow. Adult entrance fee was 2800HUF which is approximately €7.50. Well worth it for a few hours spent here

Discover the Déri Museum in Debrecen If you're ever in Debrecen, Hungary, and are a fan of museums and different cultures, a visit to the Déri Museum is an absolute must. As someone who has personally enjoyed visiting, I can attest that it's a truly beautiful and worthwhile experience. The museum's impressive building alone is a sight to behold, but the real treasures lie inside. The exhibits are incredibly varied and well-curated, offering a deep dive into art, history, and ethnography. You can wander through fascinating collections that span everything from ancient artifacts to stunning fine art. One of the most notable pieces is the painting Christ of Golgotha by the renowned Hungarian artist Mihály Munkácsy. This masterpiece is breathtaking in person and is a highlight of the collection. Beyond the famous artworks, you'll find exhibits on local history and folk traditions that provide a rich insight into the region's heritage. The Déri Museum isn't just a place to look at old things; it's a place to learn and feel inspired. The layout is easy to navigate, and there's always something new and interesting around every corner. It’s a wonderful place to spend a few hours and highly recommended for anyone who appreciates the beauty of history and art.

I love it so much😍 I can upload more pictures, but no go and discover its beauty by yourselves. What I liked more is the Ancient Egyptian civilization part. We studied this civilization at the University, so it is nice to see what aspects we studied in real life🥰 agents and workers there are super nice to international students and they speak English Thank you❤

The Deri Museum is one of the most prominent and oldest museums in Hungary, located in Debrecen. The museum was founded in 1912 by the local humanist, Frigyes Deri. The museum has a vast collection of Hungarian and international art, historical artifacts, and natural history specimens. The museum's art collection features works from famous Hungarian artists, such as Mihály Munkácsy, László Mednyánszky, and József Rippl-Rónai, as well as international artists, including El Greco, Rubens, and Titian. In addition to art, the museum also houses historical artifacts, including weapons, costumes, and coins from various historical periods. Overall, Deri Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in Hungarian history and art. The museum's impressive collection, beautiful building, and knowledgeable staff make for a truly memorable experience. Would like to see more English information, there was very minimal

Debrecen Zoo and Amusement Park is a small yet well-designed zoo located in the middle of a forest. The entrance fee is budget-friendly, and the animals are well taken care of. In addition to the zoo, there's an amusement park adjacent to it, making it a complete family destination. However, during winter, some animals may not be as visible, and the amusement park is closed.
Is really nice with lots of animals too see. Unfortunately we couldn't see them all, because mose of them in the winter time are in-house, but overall very nice. Worth it for a day to have a nice walk.
Isabela N — Google review
We had a wonderful time, and my little boy loved seeing the animals. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We visited on Sunday, and just a note – they close at 16:00 PM, not 17:00 PM.
Tamires M — Google review
Best zoo in Hungary - lots of nature (trees and forest paths to keep you cool in the hot days), with plenty of seats to rest when needed; you get quite close to the animals (when possible); interactions with birds and others; you can purchase feed for some and go in to feed them. Animals seem in good shape and happy, too. It's beautiful!!!
Ani D — Google review
I loved that it was quiet. So families could enjoy it at their own pace and have a clear view of the animals. But their could be more in between the zoo in my opinion. The amusement park area needs a bit of love but the kids had a decent enough time. Nite even if you by the ticket that includes the amusement area ( this is only for entry) you still have to buy tickets for the rides you want to take
Deja J — Google review
Nice zoo, kids park is adjacent to it and rides costs separately so be prepared. I think the zoo would be better if they offered one package which includes the kids rides even if it means higher prices, but to each their own. Still a good place to plan family activities.

Very nice zoo with variety of animals and amusement park next to.

We were impressed! More than we expected! So many different animals that I couldn’t see somewhere else. I loved the giraffe, hippos, red panda, zebras, monkeys and other animals. Felt a bit bad for the tigers tho.

Super sweet zoo in Debrecen with lots of cute animals and caring staff. We would return anytime 🙂 especially loved the giraffes, the penguins and the little monkies! Rabbits are so sweet too. It is an adventure park next to the zoo, also worth to see it.

The MODEM Centre for Modern and Contemporary Arts is a must-visit for art enthusiasts, offering ever-changing exhibits featuring works by Central and Eastern European artists. The museum hosts a variety of programs including plays, film screenings, workshops, and kid-friendly activities in a lovely atmosphere. With its focus on local artists and plenty of information to absorb, it's an ideal one-hour option for those interested in modern art.
Best museum ever. Personal was incredibly passionate about the expositions, and the expositions themselves were really really interesting. I absolutely recommend it. At the moment it's also full of really sexy rocks, which is always a plus.
Lorenzo M — Google review
If you are a tourist and a modern art buff then maybe you will enjoy this place. I didn't like it at all and think the admission set at 10 euros is ridiculously high for half an hour of strolling through stuff I didn't enjoy but I can definitely understand that they charge that because they must keep up the museum somehow. It is quite surprising that this museum exists in Debrecen to begin with. If I were to rate my own experience it's probably 2 stars but I don't want to bring their rating down so I'm giving it 4. I didn't like the staff constantly watching over me like hawks, I mean there are museums exhibiting art half a millennium old and they don't have this attitude
Klaus W — Google review
Nice enough modern art gallery. I like that they focus on local artists rather than international ones. Lots of information to read and absorb. Its a good one hour option if you're nearby. Friendly staff and welcoming staff I had free entry which was nice.

The University of Debrecen boasts a pleasant campus atmosphere, with impressive lectures and a supportive staff who offer assistance willingly. The facilities are modern and easily accessible, although occasional communication issues may arise, resulting in some students being uninformed. Nevertheless, this university provides an enjoyable environment for learning and has a comprehensive medical school known for its size and excellence. Notably, the doctor's license obtained from here holds recognition across various countries including Europe.
Universities are the Temples of our fredom of mind. One of the most impressive University building in the world, and open for visit for the public. It is a must visit in Debrecen, and you will be impressed. In this case, just Seeing is Beliving.

Applying to the University of Debrecen was a big step for me, and I honestly don’t know how I would’ve managed it without the incredible support from the Regional Office in Debrecen and Ms. Laiba especially. From the very beginning, they were helpful, responsive, and incredibly kind. They guided me through every part of the application process—explaining the requirements clearly, helping with document preparation, and making sure I never missed a deadline. What truly made a difference was the extra mile they went by offering preparatory classes. These sessions weren’t just helpful—they were essential. The instructors were knowledgeable and approachable, and the classes gave me a real head start in understanding the academic expectations at the university. It also gave me the chance to build confidence and connect with other students before the semester even started. Thanks to the Regional Office, I felt supported every step of the way. Their dedication made the transition smoother and helped me start my journey at the University of Debrecen on the right foot.
Wayne L — Google review
Nice grounds to walk. I liked the architecture of the main building and the lawn area. Lots of statues, rest areas, campus buildings, couple of cafes too. Large park nearby and a tram stop too.
Joe M — Google review
The university is amazing either as a location or its education system. I have been here for a month as a Ph.D Erasmus student from TUL, Cz to the Chemistry Department. My mentor, workers, all academic personnel are really nice, helpful and all the above, have the full knowledge. They all have their motivation and friendship among them. If I were to be chosen here first, for sure I would like to continue and live here, in the city. Maybe it's not correct to compare with the TUL, there are not many restrictions to the lab which is the most important thing if you have to work in the lab. The university, menza, location, Hungarian ppl, city, everything about here I love it. I am sorry to say that but except for their dormitories. Rest is great for temporary students. If you are a permanent student, it's a bit of a difficult dorm condition.. I'll tell you about it in their comment section ;)
Şebnem S — Google review
An amazing building, especially at night! It looks majestic, and they say the library inside it is awesome; I haven't been there before. For any visitor to Debrecen, it's 100% a must to come here and enjoy the place.
Ahmad M — Google review
We came as tourists, just to see the impressive building, because there is not much to do in Debrecen. I think it's a great thing to do if you're here, and from the university you can continue to the nice park nearby.

St. Anne's Cathedral, an 18th-century Catholic church showcasing twin bell towers and intricate baroque embellishments within, is a must-visit religious site. Situated alongside the Synagogue, Greek Orthodox Church, and Red Church, it stands as one of many places of worship worth exploring. Named after its primary benefactor Frigyes Deri, a Hungarian textile manufacturer and collector, the Deri Museum housed within offers captivating exhibits dedicated to the Far East as well as wildlife and nature.
Typical baroque Catholic church dating from the 18th century with additions from the 19th (the two towers) and the 20th (the entrance). It seems recently they did some revamping because it looks brand new and it's quite enjoyable inside.
Klaus W — Google review
The core architectural style of this beautiful Catholic Cathedral is 18th Century Baroque. I wasn't expecting it to be open when I passed by on Saturday, but the opening hours are incorrectly shown by Google, I've submitted updated opening times. Beautiful Frescos on the ceiling and many ornate shrines/altars along either aisle. Someone was playing the organ when I visited which was very nice to hear. Definitely worth a visit.

The Small Reformed Church in Debrecen, known locally as the Reformatus Kistemplom, is located on Kossuth square. Throughout its history since 1661, it has faced challenges such as fire damage and spire destruction during a storm. This prompted the rebuilding of the church with a castellated parapet, giving it a unique appearance.
Beautiful church, literally the best view in the city.

It was closed. I was given a phone number at the Tourist Office just in front on the other side of the street, to enquire. It is still an interesting and well kept building in the centre of Debrecen. There is a small plaque to briefly read about it, also in English.

(Translated by Google) The Csonka Temple in Debrecen, a small Reformed church as it was called in her maiden name, stands on Révész Square, right at right angles to the Great Church. It was a small church, because it was originally just a simple wooden building opposite the stone-built Great Church (then still András church). It is interesting that at the entrance you can see how much higher the street is today as a result of the filling, you have to go down several steps to the church. At the same time, it can be seen how strong the support of the tower is. Check it out, it's worth it! (Original) A debreceni Csonkatemplom, lánykori nevén református kistemplom a Révész-téren áll, pont merőlegesen a Nagytemplomra.

Great Forest Park, also known as the lungs of Debrecen, is a vast green oasis offering a peaceful escape with its tree-filled landscapes, lake with fountains, and woodland walks. It's an ideal spot for leisurely strolls, picnics, and various sports activities. The park is home to the University of Debrecen, botanical gardens, and even a thermal bath for relaxation. Visitors can easily reach it by tram from the city center or train station.
Went in June to this place, lovely around, surprisingly good urban garden, for a walk or go off grid and enjoy nature. Suitable for kids playground and adult chilling’ .

Peaceful woodland park, with a small lake, lots if forest trails to explore, fish & ducks along with a small amphitheater and some statues dotted around. Located nearby the university campus. Busy on the weekends with families and students. Wonderful spot with fresh air and greenery.

In my opinion this is the best part of Debrecen. In one park you have everything you can imagine- aqua park, shops, restaurants, tower, zoo and university. Picturesque park to walk around with a pond that has amazing fishes and turtles. Access is easy but not so much parking. We were lucky to find a place to park in the underground parking garage.

Beautiful and peaceful. It’s family friendly too.

Such an amazing park! Landscaped to perfection and very well looked after! It was nice having a stroll around, but many people and locals were also sitting on benches and on the grass. In fact, there were so many people just on a mid-of-week spring late afternoon. Would definitely recommend a walk in the area when in Debrecen.

Perfect park I have seen. It's like an matryoshka, one park within the other, side by the forest and closer to the university! Relaxing & enjoying the sunshine, watching the fishes, ducks and fountains! It's also a park near the concert place!

Debrecen Plaza is a long-standing shopping destination in the heart of Debrecen, Hungary. Since its opening in 1998, it has been a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The plaza offers three levels of shops, services, eateries, as well as entertainment options like a cinema and bowling alley. Unlike many malls, Debrecen Plaza is spacious and modern with a clean and pleasant atmosphere.
I visited recently and I was pleased with the shopping centre. Nice and clean, lots of shops, cinema and one of the best Exchange in town.

Small but clean and elegant. It has a great Aldi shop, Pepco and other nice shops. In the Christmas, there's a lot of people selling souvenirs and handicrafts. In general, it's good.

Really impressed by the ongoing renovations—since the remodeling, the place feels much more alive and modern. The shops are generally okay, though a few seem a bit out of place. The fixed parking fee regardless of time is a bit annoying, but you can get the first hour free if you shop at Aldi or go to the cinema, which is a nice touch.

This is a nice plaza situated in the center of the city, you can find a lot of things in there such as cinema, bank, aldi grocery and other clothing and phone shops in it. Nice plaza to shop in.!

The Pásti Street Synagogue is situated in the heart of Debrecen's Jewish quarter, surrounded by sites that reflect the city's rich history and heritage. Originally built in the early 1880s, it officially opened its doors in 1902 to cater to the growing Orthodox Jewish community. Although it suffered damage during wartime, a partial renovation was carried out in 2001, focusing on renewing the facade and roof structure.

Airport
Debrecen International Airport, situated in Debrecen, Hungary, is the country's second largest airport. It was established in 1936 and served as a military airfield during World War II. Despite its small size, the airport has seen improvements in recent years and offers polite staff, clean facilities, a small shop and bar, as well as taxi services and adequate parking. The airport features quick check-in procedures but may appear dimly lit at night with limited dining options.
Tidy small airport. Usually it's quick to get through. Before security there are wending machines with snacks and drinks. And there are two shops inside after security where you can buy all sorts of Hungarian things, like paprika cream, chocolate, fridge magnes, etc.. and another shop for drinks and food. You can catch a taxi in the parking lot at the front of the airport or use the bus. The drop off and pickup used to be free, but now they charge you even below 10 minutes.
Peter ( — Google review
The arrival area and luggage conveyor is really old and could need an update on the building. The departure area including security control looks quiet new. Overall the waiting area is really packed when there are three planes about to departure within one to two hours. Maybe some more chairs can be good, as well as support by refreshing the empty towel boxes on the toilette.
Vaplaant — Google review
I am very disappointed with the service at Debrecen Airport and Wizz Air. My wife and our one-year-old child were supposed to fly, but they were denied boarding because they were supposedly 8 minutes late. This was despite the fact that the gate was still open, and the reception was operational. All their documents were in order, but since they were the last passengers, they were simply turned away without any clear explanation. The flight’s schedule was then delayed by another 20 minutes on the board, and the plane sat on the runway for over 40 minutes after the denial. It was clear that they had enough time to board, but they were simply ignored. The tickets were wasted, and it ended up being money thrown away. This level of service is unacceptable. I will never use Debrecen Airport or Wizz Air again, and I do not recommend them to others.
Viktor — Google review
Waited to receive the luggages for 1 hr when there was no other flights at all. On top of it, we had to wait in a small room with more than 200 passengers with no AC. Thanks for the great airport and ground services. There is no manager as well to file an official complaint. Good work, keep up!
Orsel S — Google review
So they invested money on the new scanners, so you don’t need to take your liquids out, well, that was true until a few months ago, not anymore, so put your liquids on the top. 29 C outside, not much lower at security and apparently the air condition was on, obviously they don’t want to spend money on the comfort of their customers. Waiting lounge not much better either.

I recently used Debrecen International Airport (DEB) for a short trip, and overall, the experience was acceptable, though there are a few areas that could benefit from improvement. First, it’s important to remember that this is a small regional airport, serving mostly low-cost airlines and a limited number of destinations. If you come here expecting the services and infrastructure of a major international hub, you may be disappointed. However, if you're just looking for a quick and simple way to get in or out of eastern Hungary, Debrecen Airport does the job. Arrival & Location: The airport is conveniently located just 5 km from the city center of Debrecen, which makes it extremely easy to access by taxi or even local bus. The ride takes less than 15 minutes, and taxi fares are reasonable. That’s a huge plus, especially for early morning or late-night flights. Terminal & Facilities: The terminal is very small—almost feels like a bus station more than an airport—but it's clean and functional. Don’t expect many amenities. There’s one small café, limited seating, and not much to do while waiting for your flight. The check-in and security process was quick, which is one of the biggest advantages of flying from a smaller airport. I was through security in less than 10 minutes. However, once airside, the waiting area is cramped, and there are limited power outlets. Also, flights can get delayed or bunched up due to the small number of gates, so things can feel chaotic very quickly. There's no proper duty-free shop—just a small kiosk with snacks and souvenirs. Staff & Service: The airport staff were polite and helpful, although some had limited English skills. Still, communication was never a real issue. Overall: Debrecen Airport is convenient, fast, and no-frills**. If you're traveling with just hand luggage and want to avoid the hustle of larger airports like Budapest, it’s a practical option. However, for longer layovers or travelers needing more services (lounges, restaurants, or shops), the experience will likely fall short. I’d use it again for quick regional trips, but definitely wouldn’t plan to spend much time here.
Fadey ( — Google review
The parking situation at Debrecen Airport is absolutely horrible. You can’t even drive in for a minute without paying, and there’s a police car parked at the entrance 24/7 ready to fine anyone who dares to stop just to drop someone off. It feels like a trap for passengers and drivers.
David B — Google review
Small regional airport. There was only one (!) passport control desk working for all of the passengers and it created a huge queue of course. Even this desk stopped working after some kind of techy issue. After waiting for an hour they decided to open the rest of the desks. Finally. The airport itself is really small, some staff members don't speak English. The only cafe closes at 7 pm as the whole airport isn't operated 24 hours. There's only one ATM (outside). There're no exchange kiosks. Some of the vending machines aren't working properly. Wi fi is working at least. Update 2022. The airport service was slightly improved, thus adding a star. The staff is friendly and tries to assist in case of issues.

Round Forest Adventure Park, located within the Kerekerdo Recreational Park in Debrecen, Hungary, was established in 1995 by childhood friends Akos Kovacs and Bence Farkas. The park offers a sprawling area with various zones for physical activities and an artificial lake where visitors can enjoy catamarans and boats. It's a great place to spend 3-4 hours with options for dining and parking available.
The park itself is sprawling. There are several different zones, one of them is dedicated to physical activities. Some may say that it is an army style, but my child relished it. Helmets and protection gear are distributed for free. Also, there is an artificial lake, so catamarans and boats are offered to enjoy nature from the surface of the lake. In all, the park is good enough to spend 3-4 hours.

We’ve visited this place for the escape room activity. First, they arrived late although it was nice that they apologised and offered us access to an additional escape room called the sauna. It was simple with not many clues and fairly easy to escape. As our main escape room, we’ve chosen the pharaoh themed one. It has three rooms you need to escape from. The first one has several clues and you need to collect 4 numbers that will open up the secret door. The room is spacious but the decor doesn’t have much to do with the pharaohs or ancient Egypt. Also, the items are pretty used and run down, one of which we were supposed to give us a number but it was broken so at the end they needed to gave us the number. And for another number we just guessed as we didn’t find the clue. The second room has a better design, it kind of looks like an ancient Egyptian burial chamber but again it looks very run down and many of the items in the rooms are broken and old. We needed a bit of help with this one but after that we quickly managed to open the door. The last room is not really a room and has nothing to do with ancient Egypt. It’s a small cell and all you need to do is put a few numbers on a phone and the cell door opens. We didn’t even need to search for clues and only needed 20 seconds to get out. And that’s all. Overall, I’ve found the experience pretty disappointing, the design of the place is pretty cheap and the clues you need to solve are either very simple or just not very logical. There were some times we didn’t understand why things opened. On a positive note, the staff was nice and served us some drinks during the activity. However, for the price we paid I’ve expected way more. I think you can find much better places for an escape room experience.

Aquaticum Waterpark is a fantastic destination for families with children, offering numerous attractions to keep everyone entertained all day long. The abundance of greenery and complimentary deckchairs add to the relaxing atmosphere. Unlike other pools in Hajduszoboszlo, the water here is pleasantly warm. Visitors can enjoy delicious food from various stalls without having to deal with large crowds or long lines for attractions.
The outdoor waterpark is wonderful. There are many activity options, such as water slides, a lazy river, swimming pool and even sports fields. The pools are all surrounded by large green areas and many plants, which adds to the atmosphere I paid the discounted student price and regarding that, it was definitely worth it. Absolutely reccommend!🏊‍♀️

Great place to enjoy. Last year i went too and they didnt aloud to wear anything on your feet and the concrete super hot floor caused infections on my both feet, took me 10 month to heal, sometimes i couldnt walk and thought they gonna cut my foot. This time i took simple socks but they again told me not to wear anything lol, i had to put in my pockets. I was also wearing a sport t-shirt against UV rays and one of the lifeguard at the jumping pool came to me and told me that i cant wear such shirts if i wanna go into the pool haha. I said ok, i didnt argue but he came back after a minute and told me he didnt want to be rude but if i wear it and go into the pool they can remove me from the facility by force. I was like damnnn welcome to Hungary, its so good to be home again between people who just wanna make you feel bad and you even pay for it. Thanks, it was such a pleasure again!

Great outdoor water park, newly built a couple of years ago. It has a baby pool (not functional when I was visiting), a kids pool with slides, water sprouts and guns and a climbing castle, a wave pool, a diving pool with different heights to jump from and a climbing wall, adult adventure pool with 2 different obstacle courses, a pool bar, 3 thermal pools (1 not functional at my visit), a lazy river ride, a swiming pool and 4 different large slides: black hole, spherical, aquatube (UFO slide not functional at my visit). Also elevator was broken at my visit. There is a sun deck at the top level with the large slides, and 2 warm pools with a glass bottom (not for those with a fear of heights) There are also plenty of cafeterias in and around the area. A large changing room.

Nestled just behind the iconic Great Church, the Debrecen Reformed Theological University stands as a significant hub for theological studies and intellectual training in Hungary. As part of the esteemed Debrecen Reformed College, it carries on a rich tradition of educating future pastors and teachers since its roots trace back to the historic Reformed College. (Translated by Google) The Reformed Theological University of Debrecen (abbreviated: DRHE) is the continuation of the theological and applied liberal arts training of the ancient Reformed College, and is one of the centers of domestic Protestant theological education, pastor and teacher training (again since the integration of the former Kölcsey Ferenc Reformed Teacher Training College in 2011). After the Debrecen Reformed College was founded in 1538, theological education has been taking place in the institution since the beginning. In 1567, there is already a synodal reference to theological training. Although the University of Debrecen also uses the date 1538 as its historical root, for me the college and religious studies are the legal successors. The main building of the university was built on the original site of the 16th-century Debrecen Reformed College. Today, this complex of buildings includes the College's Great Library in addition to the University of Religious Studies. The Main Building is located in the heart of Debrecen, behind the Reformed Great Church on Kossuth Square. (Original) A Debreceni Református Hittudományi Egyetem (röviden: DRHE) az ősi Református Kollégium teológiai és alkalmazott bölcsészeti képzésének folytatója, a hazai protestáns teológiai oktatás, lelkész-, illetve tanítóképzés (az egykori Kölcsey Ferenc Református Tanítóképző Főiskola 2011-es integrációja óta újra) egyik központja. A Debreceni Református Kollégium 1538-as alapítása után, a kezdetektől folyik teológiai oktatás az intézményben. 1567-ben már zsinati hivatkozás található a teológiai képzésre. Bár a Debreceni Egyetem is az 1538-s dátumot használja történeti gyökerének, de számomra inkább a kollégium és a hittudomány a jogutód. Az egyetem Főépülete a 16. századi Debreceni Református Kollégium eredeti helyén épült. Ma ez az épületegyüttes magába foglalja a Hittudományi Egyetem mellett a Kollégium Nagykönyvtárát is. A Főépület Debrecen szívében, a Kossuth téri Református Nagytemplom mögött helyezkedik el.

While it may not boast the grandeur of some newer European malls, its modern design creates an inviting atmosphere that’s always buzzing with activity without feeling overcrowded.

While the outdoor section is only open from late June or early July onwards, it's definitely worth visiting during the summer months. Visitors can enjoy numerous pools with warm water and lush greenery indoors.
Sorry for the lack of pictures, this is only the entrance. I love this place i have such fond childhood memories of it! The climate is so warm and nice, the plants are beautiful and dreamy creating a lovely atmosphere. The pools are great and the slides are very fun as well. This place us definitely worth the price, you could easily spend a fun afternoon here :)

Unfortunately this place stood in time from like 2015.. there is no maintenance, lots of doors and things are broken, the restaurant is a joke, the coffee was literally some awful water. The bathrooms are very very dirty!!! The pools are dirty, they don’t really clean the floors neither. Also, many jacuzzis, showers and stuff was not working. At least they have nice plants! Its really a kids place or some rehabilitation place, nothing in between. Don’t pay for the sauna’s, its in the basement, super small places full of people and disgusting arrangements!!! And of course the real sauna places are not included in the already paid sauna world?!? Come on! Never coming back here.

This place is quite good however there are some bad thins about it. We had to wait over an hour to pay and get in the aquapark. Changing rooms and lockers were good. Had hairdryers and showers but there floor everywhere has mysterious spots of different things. Inside it was great. All slides were working pretty safe as long as you dont run. One of the pools had waves sometimes go off. Food was a total nightmare. We have to stand in a long line for over 30 minutes. Probably way over an hour and by the time we got our food, it was still hot surprisingly. All workers were super kind. Overall not too bad but would make some improvements.

Excellent spa/aqua park, it has dozens of pools and water slides suitable for all ages: babies, kids, teens, adults, elderly, everyone. Extremely family friendly. Includes a restaurant inside so you can easily spend the whole day inside the aqua park without needing anything else. Has a lot of sunbeds everywhere. A lot of the pools have warm water (30-36c), the jacuzzies hot water (38c).

Queued 45 minutes to buy a tasteless lunch in a dirty bistro which was basically our only option, because once entered , you cannot leave and come back. Asked the miserable, rude cashier to heat some water for our baby’s milk…she came back after 20 seconds with the same cold water. Filip A — Google review
I was really excited about going to this place, read a lot of stories about the thermal spa and aquapark how amazing is it and how huge is it, best of Hungary. I believe it’s Europe’s biggest, but definitely not the best. Very very overhyped. I have visited a lot of thermal baths and aquaparks in Hungary, and there are much better places than Hajduszoboszlo. The biggest disappointment is the thermal area, it has no wow factor at all. Not too inviting, it would really need some renovation and modernisation. The water itself is good, but the building is underwhelming. Changing rooms are upstairs, no lifts, very hard access for people with limited walking ability. The staff was really helpful, when I told them that my grandparents can’t do that many stairs, we got access to disabled changing rooms downstairs. So staff was excellent. Also I don’t like, that no awnings or any shadow above any pools. Especially at thermal pools, at other places you have something that protect you from rain or direct sunlight so pools can be used in any weather, but not here. Aqua palace is soo crowded and humid and noisy that we were warned by many people not to go in and waste money. This aquapark is huge indeed, but nothing special about it. If you want to check out all parts of the park, it costs a ridicolous amount of money since you have to buy tickets individually to every part. Not worth it. Kids enjoy it the most I believe. I highly doubt I would go back.

If it's summer then Hajdúszoboszló. Europe's largest spa complex. It's waiting for you too. 43 soccer fields next to each other (15 pools) You can return home with great experiences. A few photos after the closing time of the evening's cavalcade.

For what my wife and I looking for in this area, we both are very satisfied. Other people have to find there place in their situation to be satisfied. For me, a child don't need Spa but fun, so look for that place in the aqua area. Older people prefer their healthy and quit Spa.

It is very nice place with a variety of thermal bathes. But! The staff must pay attention to some local Hungarian clients, who is arrogant, aggressive and annoys and disturbs other visitors. There were some local Hungarian "ladies", who seemed to be drunk from the previous night and tried to humiliate the people from other countries. They made a lot of troubles and the staff must protect other visitors from such "ladies"

The aqua park is gigantic and ginormous. We have needed 3 days to explore all parts of the park. There are several swimming pools, baths, and tanks with mineral water. The only minus is the park is overcrowded, so if you don't relish facing crowds, you need a different place.

Great place, the SPA pools are great, there plenty of them so you dont feel crowded, we liked a lot and went there several times during our stay in Debrecen, the complex are huge and you have lot of places to go and each one cost money, so we chose SPA and sauna and it was enough for whole day, price was around 20$

The Apollo Cinema, situated at 1 Miklos Street in Debrecen, Hungary, has been a significant cultural establishment since its opening in 1912. Despite its smaller size, the cinema offers a well-balanced selection of cultural events, artistic films, classics screenings and mainstream blockbusters. Renovated over the years, it remains centrally located and provides a more intimate movie experience with better prices.
Great choice of movies. Many interesting meetings with directors and actors, producers. Most of the movies are in vo. I love the multilingual film weeks. Ticket prices are unbeatable and such a lovely staff from the guys in the ticket office to the ladies at the cinema halls entrance. Always kind, friendly, smiling. One feels at home.

According to my wife the chairs are less comfy, but I am okay with them personally. The whole building vibrates a special artistic feeling, not a regular multiplex, but it is good as it is. Thanks for keeping it alive!
Sanyeszt — Google review
This building survived for more than 114 years. Debrecen's only art cinema. The neon tube lighting above the main entrance is interesting. Upon entering, the smell of cinema and buttered popcorn hits you. By the end of the movie, her scent will surely permeate your clothes. It's okay, the main thing is that you had a good time.
Johann S — Google review
Classy with comfort. You can watch the newest movies here and special things too. Best there is the live of the Royal Opera House. Take a jersey with you since they teally cool the rooms
Capoeira H — Google review
Its a small theater for those who don't like the overly crowded movie experiences. Though the number of showings is fewer and the selection of movies played a bit more limited, they found a good balance between cultural events, artistic films, classics screenings and the usual big blockbusters that are released. Due to its size the prices are also better. Online seat reservation and ticket purchase are both available. Also the nachos is great :)

Very quiet environment, had a great experience watching the movie here! There’s also sweet popcorn to enjoy during the show, I can say it’s the only one cinema in Debrecen that has this tasty popcorn 🍿😋

If you're looking for a fun and familiar activity while traveling, Station Bowling is the perfect spot to unwind with friends. Conveniently located next to the train station, this venue offers a delightful mix of entertainment options including bowling, billiards, and a restaurant with a bar. You can enjoy your time at the pool table or bowling alley by paying based on how long you stay, making it an ideal choice for groups looking to save some cash.
Friendly service, nice rooms, rather loud music (but that's probably my age speaking).
Gert L — Google review
I had a fun time. The staff were friendly. I love that it's near restaurants and shops. I recommend that you go in groups if you want to pay less.
Ruth N — Google review
I recently visited Station Bistro with a friend and had a disappointing experience due to unfair pricing practices. According to their website, 1 hour of billiards costs 3200 HUF, but we were charged 4400 HUF at the end. Additionally, I ordered a whisky and cola (1500 HUF), and my friend had a drink worth 650 HUF. However, the total bill came to 8640 HUF, which included a service charge of 2120 HUF—more than the cost of the drinks themselves. This pricing is not only misleading but also violates consumer rights under Hungarian law. According to Act CLV of 1997 on Consumer Protection, businesses must provide transparent and accurate pricing information. The excessive service charge and inflated billiards fee are unjustified and do not align with the advertised prices. Such practices are unacceptable and harm customer trust. I urge the management to review their pricing policies and ensure compliance with consumer protection laws. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment.

Staff are not kind at all. Personally requesed twice from manager a burger without cheese and he somehow ignored me. Waited 20 minutes for the meal and extra 10 minutes to argue with the manager it's cheese and not "sauce". He simply refused to take responsibility. Staff in general were very unfriendly for tourists. In regards to biliard, table, balls and stick are very old and poor quality. Cheap service for cheap price.

Kossuth Lajos III. sz. Kollégium, located in a Hungarian city with a rich scholarly history, played a significant role in the country's fight for independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
I am living in Kossuty lajos kollêgium since 9th of September 2018 till now. This place is great 1. Rooms are big compared to other dormitories. 2. Kitchen is perfect. 3. It's location is soo good since it is inside the university square, 2 minutes walking to tge main building, 2 minutes walking to the chemistry, science and Math building. 10 minutes to the med school buildings and minutes to the tram station so it's location is perfect. 4. Room service is acceptable.
Eman E — Google review
I stayed here a month and 3 weeks (less than 2 months). Simply I can say that Here is the most awful dormitory I have ever lived in. Location is the only benefit here If you are a student or staying just for over night or max 2 days without using any service. It's located on the main campus. Just 3-4 mib by walking to the chemistry building. Service: just terrible. They're so rude, not aware of their job, might be asking you 3 or 4 times changing your room, just because they don't care about you, they're forgetful. they're not even sincerely sorry for this. ( one -two ladies are exceptional for this comment) Kitchen: Cooking wasn't that suffering in my life for those who love cooking. As you have seen in the pics, there is a fire protection but you can't leave your stuff in the cooker.. Because you have to stand on your food, and press a button every 3-4min to keep the heater on. It's just disgusting. May God give them patients who have to live here for many years. Moreover, it's so dirty and some insects are even ln the cooker. I don't why the students don't clean after themselves. I also live in a dorm with a shared kitchen, we don't have such ridiculous, disgusting issues. Moreover, they lock the kitchen on ur floor randomly without any information, you never know which floor you have to go to or why it is locked. Nothing! Even a star is really too much for here.
Şebnem S — Google review
The toilet is consistently inoperable. Shower clogged and smells like one of the maintenance workers crawled into the drain and died. Head of the dormitory is known for taunting and verbally abusing occupants and security staff. Kitchen's are locked after 9pm so that you cannot cook dinner after a long day of classes and you starve. Avoid this dormitory at all costs.
Hans-Ulrich P — Google review
Very good general and living conditions on the residence. Lack of common space to socialize and be together with friends. No one speaks English of those who work there, or if they do, barely understandable. Central located, but most of the people who live there are not so friendly. You can’t even drink beer in the common spaces like beer, it seems you’re in the kindergarten. Small shop for buying few things it sells but may save you in some situations because the bigger grocery stores are far away. Print shop right next to it and a good quality canteen even though it’s expensive.

This museum is quite interesting, but it’s small and there isn’t a lot to see. In the first building there’s a big exhibition related to the artist, but all of it is in Hungarian. We could interpret only so much regarding the theme of each room, which was a bit disappointing, but we were still entertained. The other building is full of sculptures, and they have English descriptions! There’s a biography of the artist on the walls and it’s very helpful; it made the exhibit more interesting and fascinating. This building definitely has my favorite exhibit. I really enjoyed myself.

Magda Szabó's being from Debrecen was also manifested in her deep Calvinism, she was the head guardian of the Tiszántúli Reformed Church District for five years, and in 1993 she was inaugurated as an honorary doctor of the Debrecen Reformed Theological Academy. In addition to numerous domestic and international awards, he was also awarded the title of Citizen of the City of Debrecen. The monument is dedicated to It was made in 1895 by the stone and tombstone carving company "Antal Gerenday és fia" under the management of the sculptor Béla Gerenday at the expense of Mihályné Hegyi, a citizen of Debrecen. King Lipót I of Hungary was one of the cruelest executors of the Counter-Reformation. In 1674, 800 Hungarian Protestant pastors and teachers were summoned to Bratislava before a special court. About three hundred people appeared at the trial, where they were accused of treason, treason and insulting the Catholic Church and sentenced to death. The sentence was subsequently changed, according to which they either convert to the Catholic religion or go to galley slavery. The "facilitation" of conversion to the Catholic faith was also helped by torture. Many were broken, but eighty-nine still refused to give up their faith. Forty-two of them were escorted to Naples on foot. Eventually, twenty-six remained due to illness, death, and running away. Despite the protests of Sweden, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands, they ended up in the galleys of the Spanish viceroy. Dutch admiral Michiel Adriaenszoon de Ruyter was in the Mediterranean with a fleet. The Dutch parliament ordered him to free the Hungarian galley Arabs. Since the Spanish were in great need of Dutch naval assistance against the French, De Ruyter was able to reach an agreement with the Spanish viceroy in Naples and on February 11, 1676, the 26 Hungarian preachers were freed. But Ruyter did not survive his humanitarian act for long. He collided with the French fleet on April 22, 1676, was seriously wounded by a cannonball, and died of his injuries on the evening of the 29th. His resting place is in Amsterdam, in the New Church. II. During his first trip to Hungary, Pope János Pál also met representatives of Protestant churches. On August 18, 1991, at an ecumenical service in the Great Church in Debrecen, he gave a speech in English and then blessed a wreath, which he placed with his own hands on the memorial column of the Gály Arabs. A bronze wreath on the west side of the column commemorates the event. A katolikus hitre való áttérés „megkönnyítését” kínzások is segítették. II. János Pál pápa első magyarországi útja alkalmával találkozott protestáns egyházak képviselőivel is. 1991. augusztus 18-án, a debreceni Nagytemplomban ökumenikus istentiszteleten angol nyelvű beszédet mondott, majd megáldott egy koszorút, amelyet saját kezűleg helyezett el a Gályarabok emlékoszlopán. The original statue in Buda was made in 1956, the year of the revolution, this Debrecen (replica) was probably put on the street later. Its creator, Ferenc Medgyessy, born in Debrecen, died in 1958. (Original) Mackós kút, Debrecen, Sas utca. Ennek a mackónak bizony van egy testvére is, bátyja. Budapesten, a I. kerület, Nagy Imre téren. Az eredeti, budai szobor készült 1956-ban, a forradalom évében, ez a debreceni (másodpéldány), vélhetően később került utcára. Alkotója, a debreceni születésű, Medgyessy Ferenc 1958-ban hunyt el.
