Specialty Museums
The Silesian Museum, located in Katowice, Poland, is a unique combination of art and industry housed in a former coal-mining site. The museum's collection is presented through underground galleries that are 12-16 meters below the surface. The museum is part of the International Congress Centre, which also includes the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra's auditorium.
One of my favourite museums to visit. Great selection of art- especially that representative of local vibes. Interesting exhibitions both temporary and permanent . I love the buildings architecture. I already miss the cafeteria and most amazing matcha latte there😋

This is a collection of buildings with a wide variety of exhibits. There are large collections of modern art on display in several of them. In the main building there are some extremely impressive exhibits, taking you through the history of Silesia, it's people and it's culture. There is one building which retains the original steam powered winding wheel, which unfortunately no longer seems to work. The huge shaft winding tower was unfortunately closed for rehabilitation when we visited (August 2025) - it would be a great viewing platform if it was open. A lot of the open spaces were closed of for repairs, but it still a nice area to walk around. Definitely worth a visit for the impressive history exhibits, or if you like modern art.
Martin E — Google review
Very modern museum with a lot of interesting facts about the history of Silesia. The design of the indoor area is pretty cool. Whilest my visit the entry was free, but I think, it was only at this day. Unfortunately you can't visit the exhibition in the area on the outside at the moment.
Jakob T — Google review
Worth a visit. A modern art museum which is accessible to most tastes and preferences coupled to a very detailed and immersive presentation of the history of Silesia. Located in a large park with old mining buildings. Most of the park was closed due to construction works, at the time of my visit.
Haris G — Google review
Amazing museum with very cheap tickets. There are many exhibitions in different buildings so there is a lot to see and at least 2 hours to spend. The best was the history of Silesia. Everything is labeled in PL/DE/ENG 👍 Definitely worth a visit
Václav M — Google review
The Silesian Museum in Katowice is impressive not only for its striking underground architecture but also for its outstanding art collections. The galleries of Polish painting from the 19th and 20th centuries are beautifully curated, showing both classics and modern works. It’s a perfect place for anyone who loves art and history.
Olesya Z — Google review
We visited on Friday, there was no queue. The lady on reception spoke excellent English. I've never been through metal detectors going into a place like this before. It was very different to what we were expecting. The site is an old mine that has been turned into an art house. There is a section of the site dedicated to the first and second world wars. The gallery spaces are large and the art fits in the spaces comfortably. There is a small shop on site with the usual range of souvenirs and snacks.

Arena Spodek, often likened to a UFO due to its flying saucer-shaped design, is a renowned indoor arena in Katowice. Situated near Mariacka Street and the Silesian Museum, it stands out as one of the city's most distinctive spaces with its futuristic and minimalist vibe. Once an operational coal mine, it now hosts various cultural and sporting events, including rock concerts and basketball games.
I was in GYC conference here…Amazing place,and incredibly beautiful…
Ольга О — Google review
Attended the 2025 counterstrike 2 tournament, upon entering the stadium there was a long line and once you were allowed inside it was hell, everyone was pushing and pulling... but this is because obviously everyone wants the best seat, in the middle. Other than that, it was good. Nice to experience once.
Harry B — Google review
Great arena in Katowice! I was here for EuroBasket 2025 and had an excellent experience. The venue is spacious and from every seat you get a perfect view of the court. The staff and people around were very helpful, which made it easy to get around as a tourist. There’s also a good variety of food, though prices are on the higher side. Overall, a really good experience
Michael S — Google review
Visited for IEM Katowice 2024, so for 3 days straight. The arena was nice and clean with plenty of cloakrooms (almost no wait at the end of the event, fantastic). Toilets were kept clean. Beer on the pricier side, but really that is a standard in these types of arenas. I also have to commend the beatiful architecture from the outside. One of the prettiest arenas I saw.
Ondřej K — Google review
You can tell this place is old, but it's still a great venue for basketball matches.

It has gained recognition for its diverse repertoire, ranging from Baroque to contemporary music. The orchestra frequently tours internationally and has performed at prestigious venues worldwide. The NOSPR's new seat, operational since 2014, is an architectural marvel designed by Tomasz Konior with a cost of USD80 million.
I like the architecture of the place. I attended an opera music for Haydn and it was amazing with the building's acoustics.
Kouka D — Google review
Home of astounding beauty to music of all kinds. The interior is not just a soundboard but an instrument for the orchestra! With the shell designed to be reminiscent of miners’ colonies of yore, it is made to resemble a chamber hewn in black coal inside.

A place of many, many great concerts in fairly low prices (thus most tickets sell out very fast). Beautiful both in terms of visuals and accustics. Must visit for anyone who enjoys music in any form, length style or type. With a great location and huge parking lot it makes easy for visitors to reach.

The new seat of the National Polish Radio Orchestra is in operation since 2014. It is designed with red brick and black tiles and wood to reflect on the local building style and the prominent role of coal in the region by architect Tomasz Konior with a cost of USD80 million. The acoustic is designed by famous acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota of Nagata Acoustics. It has seating capacity of 1800. It also has a smaller concert hall. The acoustic is one of the world-best.

Water & Amusement Parks
Legendia Silesian Amusement Park, the oldest amusement park in Poland, offers around 38 attractions including rollercoasters and rides suitable for younger children. The park provides a well-balanced experience with minimal queues during weekdays, making it convenient to explore all it has to offer in one day. Visitors can enjoy on-site restaurants and themed areas like Aladdin's Magicland.
Great place to visit with kids. Make sure to pre book tickets to be able to use a 15% discount. Some rides are for children up to 7 years old only. Most have height restrictions - from 120cm or 140cm. A few attractions were not available despite visiting in high season. The whole area is beautifully and thoughtfully landscaped and there are many cafes and restaurants throughout. Some attractions require queuing. If you go on the log flume - you WILL get wet. However, there's a full body dryer chamber available for 5 złoty (£1). In hot weather there are cooling spray misters throughout the complex and drinking water fountains for free.
Agnieszka R — Google review
It is a nice, small park with a mix of retro and modern attractions. Unfortunately, the staff is quite young and sometimes rude. For some rides, like the carousel in the picture, you have to knock on a door to get someone to let you in. Not to mention, they can be rather lazy and try to squeeze all the kids into one wagon. I wish the staff were better trained and had a more positive attitude.

Bilet Sezonowy Lato 2024 fair price + free parking. We definitely enjoyed our first stay. After several years in Czechia´s park this was game change for us. No queue (Friday/Satuday morning) So many atracation for kids or adults. Can not believe park is more than 60 years old. Food ok - pizza, burger, hotdog. I am not coffee expert but 0,5L is too much when temperature is around 200 degree Celsius. Italian guy would be very disappointed ;)
Petr H — Google review
Was there today and wasn't as we expected. Saw in fb there is some events going on but didn't see any today. 2 rides down and not operating so a bit disappointed. Was fun for my 2 yrs old but rides arent too excited for my 9 and 12 years old. I think it's time for them to upgrade their rides so that it would be more interesting.
Sharon Y — Google review
Very nice place in the city center. Cozy with a large lake and attractions for children of all ages. You can eat everywhere. Toilets are also at every step. The only nuance is that not all attractions work with the opening of the park. Some start working later.
Liliya B — Google review
Our visit to park was on Thursday, here were lots of people, because it’s cheaper than on weekends. Despite this, on attractions were only few people. In the winter evening we waited with kids for 15-20 minutes, because 1 guy was responsible for 2 attractions and near balloons we waited almost for 25-30 minutes and no one came. In the beginning of park you can find pizza place, souvenir store, but in other side of park - nothing. Even toilet was locked! Ferris wheel does 4 circles, it’s too much in winter and I think even in the summer it’s too much, you can be burned on the sun or freeze in the winter evening. Other people need to stay and wait in this time, when you don’t want to do third and fourth circle)) Then we found screen with timer, started to wait. More and more people came, but after begging of “show” everyone left, because it’s nothing interesting, just wasting time. Light compositions were really cool, it’s the most beautiful things in park.
Yulia K — Google review
It is the largest permanent amusement park in Poland 🇵🇱 . We visited in later October 2019 and was amazed at just how enjoyable the place was for all. Whatever the age you are, I guarantee you that you will have a lot of fun here. They have reduced tickets for students. Even though the normal ticket is not really expensive. You almost need a day here to play in all. It was really worth it, for why do you pay for the ticket. I am extremely looking forward to this year again. The rest of the park is more of an amusement park rather than a theme park, but the entrance was nicely themed, and the rest of the rides appeared to be in good order. The shooting ride is also one of the best in its class, and the big wheel big.

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Silesian Zoological Park, located within the Silesian Culture and Recreation Park, is a sprawling sanctuary for over 2500 animals. Divided into wild and domesticated sections, the zoo also features replica dinosaurs. The park itself spans 2 km east-west and 3 km north-south, offering free access around the clock and welcoming dogs.
Very good zoo to visit. Lots of various types of animals and birds to see and you can even have a birds eye view if you arrive via cable car. The zoo is in UK standards very reasonable cost for entry with family packages etc. There are several places to eat and drink as well as a play area for kids to pass bit of time when attention is waining. Personal favourite was the Rhinos. I first visited when I was only 4 and I'm much older now and remembered the stone dinosaurs in the zoo as a highlight of that visit however, the area was closed off at the time of our visit which gutted me. Hopefully it's temporary for maintenance. All in all a great experience and will return on my next visit.
Bri W — Google review
Beautiful zoo and huge zoo. I love that it is far from the main road so you will have to walk around 10 mins to get to the zoo. You can also buy zoo tickets before entering. No need to pre buy on a website. I love that the zoo was big and you can get lost in it and explore. There are also food places if you want to spend some more time there. I spent around 2,5 hours. Lovely place and I recommend visiting.
Natalie R — Google review
It was fantastic, every part of it. I visited when I was a child and now I’ve taken my son. We both had a great day. We go to zoo everywhere we can as my son loves animals. Here he found few species, he never seen before. It made him super happy. Obviously nothing was more favourite than dinosaurs, big cats and bears 😂😂
Beata S — Google review
.....nice small zoo. Entrance from the park (so no parking places around). A lot to see...
Karel L — Google review
There was vast variety of animals but only by luck u can see. Bcz in afternoon usually all were sleeping here n there s ok mostly cages and place were seems empty.
Harsangeet K — Google review
The zoo is beautiful, but there is very little space for the bears; they don't even have anywhere to walk, and for some reason the tiger is very thin. Everything else looks fine
Vika S — Google review
The zoo is a symphony of wildlife, a majestic tapestry of creatures big and small, each one a masterpiece of nature. As I strolled through the lush gardens and winding paths, I was captivated by the dazzling array of life before me. The animals, like brushstrokes on a canvas, were alive with energy and vitality, their sleek coats and shimmering scales a testament to their care and well-being. I marveled at the grace of the giraffes, the strength of the lions, and the playful curiosity of the monkeys, all of them thriving in their carefully crafted habitats. But what truly sets this zoo apart is its unwavering commitment to the welfare of its animals. From the towering elephants to the tiny birds, every creature is given the utmost care and attention, with expert veterinary care and enrichment programs to keep them healthy and engaged. It's a place where the natural world is celebrated, where the beauty and diversity of life are on full display, and where visitors can come face to face with some of the most magnificent creatures on the planet. The zoo is a true masterpiece, a living testament to the wonders of nature, and a shining example of our responsibility to protect and preserve this incredible world we share.
Valeriia T — Google review

Planetarium Śląskie, located in Chorzow, is a must-visit for anyone fascinated by the cosmos. Founded in 1955, it features a 75-foot dome and offers astronomy exhibits and an observatory. Visitors can reach the planetarium via public transportation or by car, although parking may incur a fee. The shows cover various subjects from our solar system to the farthest reaches of the universe and are both captivating and educational.
Fabulous place for science lovers, but not only for them. Great exposures, wonderful shows, and the location just brilliant, in the middle of a huge park. Thus plenty wonderful walking paths 😍 Just love it ❤️
Alicja U — Google review
The nature of the place where the planetarium is located is very beautiful. You can also come using your own bicycle, do not rent a Metrorower city bicycle and come here because there is no parking area and a fine of 450 PLN is imposed for being outside the area. The planetarium is very interesting for those interested in astronomy and physics. It is not good that some of the visits organized in the form of tours are only in Polish. Even if you are given a small English booklet, you are paying to listen to something in a language you don't understand for 30-60 minutes.
Hüseyn Q — Google review

Definitely, an interesting place to visit. Take care of the reservation in advance. Not the best place to go by car, maybe worth to walk a little bit from the park. "Movie" in the dome will be interesting for kids (but not so for 18+). I can recommend better participation in the exhibitions. Please read about all of the details in advance.

The park was and is a unique nature and recreation facility of this scale not only in Poland, but also in Europe, and to this day remains one of the largest projects of this type. It was also a pioneering in Europe and the largest successfully completed attempt in the country to restore the environment devastated by industry. Today it is a really great asylum for nearby agglomerations with many attractions for the whole family.

Śląski Stadium, located in Chorzow, Poland, is a 1950s-built all-seater stadium with a maximum capacity of 55,211. It serves as the home ground for the Polish national football team and hosts various sports events and music concerts. Visitors can take guided tours of the stadium at affordable prices. The venue has been praised for its efficient handling of large crowds during events, although some have noted that the catering can be expensive and of low quality.
Attended two concerts - good venue, handles large numbers of people in very efficient manner. During the event, the stadium catering is of low quality (by street food standards) and very expensive...the 🍺 though surprisingly cheap, so I guess it is the way it should be... 2x 🍻 cost the same as 🍟. No complaints, though it is understandable better to be hungry than dehydrated.

This is a fabulous museum. We were staying in Katowice and wanted something to visit. We ended up spending 4 hours in the park with a stop in the little inn for a drink and snack. There isn't a lot in the way of information about the buildings and certainly nothing in English, but we didn't feel that we missed out because of this. The wooden houses and barns are beautiful, especially the church and the park itself is lovely. There are lots of places to sit and picnic with shade or shelter from rain and the little inn is cute and very reasonably priced.

The only thing you pay extra for are food, arcade games, and some other "prize winning" games. The rest, everything else that is open, is included within the ticket.

The for price was okay! The lights were amazing and some of the rides are working! It is very nice for kids, the price if coffee and pizza is very high and in my opinion not worth the money But I would highly recommend

That is a really nice place. We went there in the time before Christmas. Although it was only partly open, I got a great impression from there. Great fun for the whole family, we enjoyed it a lot. Highly recommended

Place was very good, price is totally worth it. However small pack of fries cost 50zl?... One piece of pizza 20zl??... Way overpriced food. 👎

Magiczny Ogród Świateł Christmas Garden Chorzów is a wonderful place for an evening stroll, perfect for capturing beautiful photos and spending quality time with family. The enchanting atmosphere becomes even more magical when it snows, offering the opportunity to enjoy warm drinks while exploring the garden. (Translated by Google) The place exceeded my initial expectations. I thought it would take about 30 minutes to see everything, but it ended up being a walk of over an hour. I was also surprised by the variety of attractions. I bought tickets online earlier, and the price was exactly in line with the price list on the leaflet. Great place to walk and plenty of places to take really nice photos. If the Garden of Lights comes to Chorzów next year, I will be happy to visit it again. Jeśli Ogród Świateł zawita do Chorzowa w przyszłym roku, to z przyjemnością odwiedzę go po raz kolejny. 🤗

(Translated by Google) I read the previous opinions and there they are: I don't like it and I don't recommend it, even though I wasn't there because it was raining/because I had no place to park/because they didn't give anything for free 🤦‍♀️ People, really? For me it was a wonderful walk with my husband, with beautiful music, on a wonderful, frosty winter day, without crowds. I love such installations! 😍 The prices are not low, but if you read the price list carefully, you can choose a cheaper option.

(Translated by Google) A very nice place for an evening walk. It took us a while because we were constantly taking photos and I guess that's the point. Spend nice time with your family. A great place to learn how to take photos. When the snow falls, I will come back because the climate will be even better. You can drink something warm and walk... Here for a moment. A moment there.

(Translated by Google) Finding the best word: fairy-tale. The amazing Christmas atmosphere combined with snow and musical background created a wonderful effect. From the moment you enter to the moment you leave, the smile never leaves your face. As for the most memorable moment, it was definitely walking through the "jungle".

(Translated by Google) A very good place to spend a winter evening with your family. The lights in the garden make a great impression. Nice time spent. I recommend (Original) Bardzo dobre miejsce do spędzenia zimowego wieczoru z rodziną. Światła na terenie ogrodu robią duże wrażenie. Fajnie spędzony czas. Polecam

(Translated by Google) Some of the attractions are really great, because I haven't had the opportunity to see them before. The price is high, but I don't regret it. In my opinion, it's worth watching and judging for yourself :) (Original) Kilka atrakcji naprawdę super, bo wcześniej nie miałam okazji takich spotkać. Cena wygórowana, ale nie żałuję. Moim zdaniem warto obejrzeć i samemu ocenić :)
