Svolværgeita, also known as the "goat via ferrata," is a renowned 150-meter granite pinnacle in Svolvaer, located in the Lofoten Islands of northern Norway. It is a popular destination for adventure seekers and technical climbers due to its sheer rock faces. Climbing this peak offers breathtaking views of the city and the sea from the top.
Great experience! Our guide Stian led our group up the path. Though the weather wasn’t the best, Stian made sure we all had a pleasant time on our climb. Definitely recommend hiring a guide:) They provided all the gear which was great, especially since we were visiting from another country:)

(Translated by Google) The famous Svolvårgita mountain is very difficult and tiring to climb, so anyone who is not fit will not complete it to the end. Also, descending from it is dangerous, the stairs are made of rocks, some of which are wide and some of which are very steep, so do not raise your head and keep your scale for the descent one 😁 Photographed on September 24, 2025 (Original)

Bacalao is a renowned restaurant in Svolvaer, Norway, offering one of the best meals in the country. The restaurant is known for its delicious fish soup and stockfish. It is part of the vibrant dining scene in Svolvaer, which includes various other eateries and bars such as Borsen Spiseri, Du Verden, Restaurant Kjoekkenet, and more.
Really great restaurant in Svolvær. We happened to walk in to enjoy our lunch here. I simply picked a restaurant for lunch. What a good pick. Ordered the famous bacalao, Norwegian famous food. It comes with home made bread and butter. Ordered creamy fish soup and fish & chips. Super delicious. Such a good dinning place in a snowy day. Staffs are friendly and polite.
Annie C — Google review
I had a soup fish, which was tasty but I can’t say it worth 250 kroner. Staff is nice and friendly. Cutlery as you can see was not properly washed, almost all spoons was like that, it was difficult to find a clean one, but in the end I found 😆 Considering the prices they have in this restaurant, I would not recommend and I would not come again here.
Laurentiu — Google review
We visited Bacalao in Svolvær and it was a delicious experience. As a starter, we tried a creamy seafood soup that was incredibly comforting. The mussels in jalapeño sauce were a surprise, with just the right amount of heat, accompanied by crispy fries. The lamb was so tender it practically melted in your mouth. To drink, the local apple juice was refreshing and authentic. The combination of good food, a cozy atmosphere, and spectacular views makes it well worth the trip. Highly recommended!
Carolay M — Google review
Overall a nice experience. Was a little difficult to get someone to actually seat us at a table, but once we tracked someone down and secured a table it seemed everything was good from that point. Excellent tasting food and perfect atmosphere right on the waters edge.

The best omelette I’ve had in Norway! With a delicious coffee and an amazing view, the experience was even better. The place has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the service was great and attentive. Definitely worth a visit and I highly recommend it!
Luana M — Google review
I came here for the 1st time a few days ago. I arrived at around 7:00p and didn’t need a reservation. The overall environment is very welcoming and comfortable. I ordered the fish and chips and my partner ordered the Korean chicken. The food arrived fairly quickly and was hot. The fish and chips were okay as well as the Korean chicken. It was very flavourful but also not the worst. I also ordered the Rhubarb Kombucha which was phenomenal. I probably wouldn’t return but the environment was great.
Shalon J — Google review
Food was really good here! Tried the bacalao and the shrimp sandwich — both were delicious. The restaurant also has a very nice seaview, which made the meal even more enjoyable. Definitely worth a stop!

Magic Ice Lofoten is located in a former fish-freezing plant and offers a unique experience with its 500-square-meter space filled with impressive ice sculptures depicting life in Lofoten. Visitors are provided with warm clothing and a drink in an ice glass upon admission. The bar's staff is known for their friendliness, and guests have praised the talented sculptor from Lithuania who serves drinks.
Stumbled upon this fun place on a July Havila cruise stop and glad we did! -5 centigrade met us with a blast of cold air (coats and gloves provided). A cold cocktail provided, and ice sculptures and an ice slide rounded out the exploration. About 20 euro admission each, which seemed steep at entrance but we laughed and chilled our way through it. Maybe stayed 30 minutes max (my partner insists it was only 15 before we were bone cold!). Hindsight says it was well worth it. Good memories.
David W — Google review
We had so much fun. The bartender/ barman from Rome was really friendly and helpful! You have to try the ice slide. Fascinating ice sculptures related to runic mythology. Excellent alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with a variety of flavors, sitting at ice tables on warm furs! I chose apple and cinnamon, and it was fantastic in the ice glass. We took lots of photos. About €25 per person, but well spent. A unique experience!
Debora C — Google review
Great ice bar, entrance includes drink gloves and jacket (returned). Staff are super friendly and helpful. There is a great slippery dip. Loved it, totally worth going. Don’t miss it if you are in town
Donna G — Google review
What an excellent find! We had 30 minutes in the port and this was ideal. Three minutes walk from where our boat docked. Excellent and very welcoming staff. Incredible ice sculptures in a permanently frozen warehouse. They provide extra warm capes. The 200 NKR admission fee includes a cloudberry wine drink served in a cup made of ice. The floor is easy to walk on, not slippy. The sculptures are Nordic themed. Be careful if climbing onto the slide or the throne (both permitted) as they are obviously incredibly slippery. ♿️ Accessibility seemed easy, wide entrance, all on one level and plenty of manoeuvring space. Once again very good find with incredibly welcoming staff. Late opening hours to suit ship’s arrivals!
Peter W — Google review
It is a tourist trap, but a good one. If you never been to a place like that it’s worth paying $30 pp (including a drink). When we went it was pretty empty, it was nice to have place to ourselves. Spent there probably only 15 minutes there but the experience was pretty cool!
Dmitri N — Google review
You put on a poncho and gloves and enter a hall cooled down to -7 Degree Celsius. A drink within an ice-cup is included as well. Big and impressive sculptures!!! Very nice experience! Thank you very much!

The Lofoten War Memorial Museum, also known as Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum, houses a diverse collection of civilian and military memorabilia from World War II. The museum showcases uniforms, weapons, literature, and intriguing items such as a lamp from the battleship Tirpitz and Eva Braun's handbag.
Museum of the second world war with an amazing collection of uniforms, weapons, books, photographs. It's amazing that the museum was created by one person. It was fantastically interesting I want to return to this museum Despite the fact that the fighting took place on the Lofoten Islands this museum contains photographs of Ukraine girls who took part in the fighting Be sure to leave time to visit this museum
Tetiana — Google review
A powerful and moving experience. This World War II museum offers an incredibly well-curated and informative journey through one of the most important periods of modern history. The exhibits are rich with authentic artifacts, personal stories, and multimedia presentations that make the past feel very real and present. I was particularly impressed by the thoughtful layout and the emotional impact of the survivor testimonies. It’s a place that invites reflection and helps you understand the human cost and complexity of war. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, education, or simply gaining a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made during WWII. A must-visit.
Matteo M — Google review
A great little museum with tons of stuff packed into a small place, and some very interesting artefacts. Perhaps a bit of an over emphasis on the Waffen SS, but plenty of stuff on other branches off the German armed forces as well as other nationalities involved in the war in Norway.
Martin R — Google review
A hidden gem in the north! This collection is truly impressive - a wealth of information alongside historical artifacts. The museum is a great way to spend an hour or so if you have any history-lovers in your party. You'll leave with a better understanding of how the war impacted Norway and the part that Northern Norway played.
Beau O — Google review
Museum with a lot of uniforms and other items. A lot (but not all) texts are translated to English, German and sometimes French. This museum also covers some aspects of World War II that are sometimes forgotten when viewing the large picture. This place is worth a visit if you are interested in this part of world history!
Johannes H — Google review
Just an immense collection by one extremely charming man, our visit was short but extremely memorable, recommended
Andy F — Google review
Amazing experience to see all these WW2 relics displayed. There are German, Russian, Norwegian, Danish, American and others on display. Weapons are real and not replicated, most are in good condition and you can see a lot of details on them. If you have the chance to go, do yourself the favor!
Kristoffer B — Google review
This museum has an awesome WW2 collection! Not neatly packed in chronological order, just stuffed to the brim with cool memorabilia. From swastika-Christmas bellls to an alarm horn from battleship Tirpitz. And it's right next to the cruise terminal, so if you're traveling the norwegian coastal route and only have 40 minutes in Svolvaer, you can spend 39 of them here. A true walhalla for history buffs!

Børsen Spiseri is a top dining spot in Svolvaer, Lofoten, offering delicious food and drinks. This cozy restaurant serves a variety of local specialties and has a diverse menu. The village of Svolvaer may be small, but it boasts numerous restaurants with unique offerings. Børsen Spiseri stands out as one of the best places to enjoy a perfect meal while exploring the natural beauty and hiking opportunities in the area.
The atmosphere is amazing in this historic building. Very cozy and intimate. Service was friendly and efficient. Tried their cod dish + lamb + fish soup. Everything was delicious. But the best part of the meal was the rhubarb and strawberry cheesecake. It was so light, fresh, and bursting with flavor. Have never had a cheesecake like this before and it was delicious!
Melanie Y — Google review
This restaurant got very nice interior, they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The appetizer is nice, the fish is fresh with the foam is rather tasty, and the plating is very nice too! The fish dish is nice, and the sauce tastes really good like lobster sauce , and the potatoes are so creamy and sweet. The panna cotta is delicious ! It is very soft, creamy and smooth, and the vanilla flavor is rich and natural, most importantly it is not overly sweet, very tasty! Love it! The staff Albina is very nice and friendly, I love her lovely introductions and smiles, thank you. I had a good time.
Sberry — Google review
The ambiance here is truly unique—charming, intimate, and steeped in history. You can feel it in the walls. The strong scent of dried cod hits you as you enter, which I actually found intriguing and fitting for the experience. The space felt chic yet casual and cozy, like a blend of cottage warmth and old-school steakhouse charm. The menu is short and straightforward, but full of tempting choices that made it hard to decide. We eventually settled on the Taste of Lofoten platter, fish soup, lamb rack, and the Stockfish Royal—which we came especially to try. It exceeded all expectations. The combination of butter egg, cod, and crispy cured ham was both unexpected and incredibly flavorful. The triple protein made it a filling dish, but every bite was a burst of rich, layered taste. We also had the pleasure of chatting with the lovely Mariam (apologies if I’m misspelling her name), who kindly shared the history behind the stockfish and gave us some fascinating facts about the Lofoten region. Overall, we had a very special and memorable experience. If you’re nearby, I highly recommend dining here. It felt cozy and welcoming. The service is excellent and the food was tasty.
Annie V — Google review
Must goto place for the building and history since 1800s. Longer a little longer and enjoy the indoor decoration. Beautiful wooden beams and second floor dining with a central staircase leading up. Service was marvellous and food was great. The best fish is here and not anywhere else. The cured whale and salmon was one of its kind and the monk fish, halibut and stock fish was all cooked to perfection. Seasonal rhubarb was a delightful dessert and the bill that came was a little more than the usual meals in Lofoten but totally worth it. Explore the place outside as you can see a sauna and platform to jump into the waters. Sunset here is nice. If you are coming from the city area take about 20 min walk up the long bridge. Go explore the hotel next door where it also housed the original settlement of a grocery store.
Jen C — Google review
Cosy place with great atmosphere. Seats available on two levels. Dark wood timber. Limited food selection. Small serving size. Large selection of bottled wine.
Philip L — Google review
Based on the good google reviews, we booked a table. The expectations were quite high and we expected a fine dining experience. Instead, we got maybe even a below average experience, especially considering the restaurant's price level. The food was mostly tasteless and you had to add salt to each portion yourself. The best part of the meal was the dessert. Of course, the food looks great, but that alone is not enough for the pricing of the portions. I don't think we will visit again. It's a pity because the atmosphere in the restaurant is wonderful.
J S — Google review
What a find! Go over that bridge and enjoy a lovely dinner with great food & wine. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would say it was the best dinner in Svolvaer!

Paleo Arctic is a restaurant in Svolvaer known for its great menu, including one of the best fiskegratengs (fish gratin) you'll ever have. It's a comfortable place where you can enjoy lovely food, especially their delicious pizza. The restaurant offers European and Norwegian cuisine with vegetarian options. Located in the capital of Lofoten, Paleo Arctic is a must-visit spot for those looking to savor traditional Norwegian dishes in a cozy setting.
A cozy restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Despite being fully booked, the staff was incredibly friendly and quickly found us a great table with a view. The cod was exceptional — incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, as if it had just been caught. The cheesy mashed potatoes were more than just a side — creamy, flavorful, and satisfying. The green tea was served quickly and brewed just right, warming us up after a walk. You can feel they truly care about their guests and know how to cook. I’ll definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a pleasant setting.
Daria B — Google review
I had high expectations for this place but left disappointed. Don't get me wrong: It's definitely a "fancy" place (at least for what you can expect in such a remote town). However, the food quality was hit and miss - the monkfish was quite good, but the stockfish overcooked and partly burned. I had a better one in a lesser known restaurant. Also, while the service personnel were quite friendly, they were also super slow and let us wait almost half an hour after we finished the main course before they even picked up our plates. For better food choices I would recommend to skip Svolvaer altogether and try out nearby Henningsvaer (see my other reviews).
Andreas W — Google review
The fish was not clean properly , I found intestines and there is nothing worst than this .. the crab sauce was super salty but if you combine all the ingredients together was just ok .. the veggies were almost uncooked .. The vegetarian dumplings was quite boring .. the feeling was just mushroom and nothing else .. the asparagus was not peeled .. the lentil under the dumplings was too much garlic and the mouth was smelling bad .. The dessert supposed to be chocolate cremeux but we received something that they thought is Cremeux and nothing special the rest .. Butter was just okay .. bread was cold .. The chefs were touching the meat then veggies and the fishes without gloves .. The waitress ask us if we want to drink something and we said just water and she brought us water that we had to pay 89 kr around 8 euro for WATER , instead of asking us if we mean tap water or new bottle of water .. In general the expectations were low but after the visiting came even lower .. 2 main course and one dessert + water 90 euro ..
Kostadinos — Google review
We ordered stockfish soup, vegetarian dumplings, fish of the day (Monkfish) and Panna Cotta. The menu is short, but there is an option for everyone. The food was delicious: vibrant presentations, fresh ingredients and yummy flavours. The service and chef accommodated our dietary restrictions flawlessly. Overall, highly recommended and very well worth another visit.

Diletta G — Google review
A deeply disappointing dinner — and an even worse response. I am Pascal Schnyder, professional chef and owner of Casa Pascal in Pattaya, Thailand. Our waitress was warm, the bread excellent, and the wine list impressive (even Château d’Yquem by the glass). Sadly, that’s where the praise ends. An eight-item menu is meagre for international diners, and what arrived was worse: my fish soup was lukewarm, and the fishcake inside released a vile, fresh-diarrhoea stench. My wife—usually braver than I am—tasted it and agreed it was inedible. From the open kitchen came visible shrugs and a dismissive line along the lines of “nothing wrong with it.” My main course, the stockfish also had sligthly off-odours. With that rotten fishcake taste still on my tongue, I couldn’t eat another bite. Then the bill arrived: they charged for the rotten soup—and even prompted for a tip. Utterly shameful. How I run my own restaurant 1.) I would never serve a stinky dish like that. 2.) If a customer would complain, AND not eat that dish, I would ask if we could serve something else instead. 3.) I would never have the rudeness of charging the price for a rotten dish which was not even eaten by the guest 4.) I would apologize myself
Pascal S — Google review
Attentive services. Good fish soup (and cheap). The pigvar (fish of the day) could have been better prepared, as it was too well done. Beautiful restaurant.

I had a fantastic experience at Nordis Restaurant! The mussels were absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The chicken had a great kick to it, with just the right amount of spice, and it was incredibly juicy. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavour and clearly made with care. On top of that, the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and efficient. Definitely a spot I’ll be returning to. Highly recommended! Expensive but that's norway for you

I had a wonderful experience here. Sofie served me, and she was incredibly warm and attentive. I ordered the Nordic Burger, a Limoncello Spritz, and a dessert. Everything tasted great—Sofie even checked if the food suited my taste, which made me feel very welcomed. The dessert was especially lovely and really lifted my mood. The portions were satisfying, and the restaurant has a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere. I would love to come back again.

The mussels and the cod were tasty, but we did not like too much your burger (sorry...). The service were attentive and kind and the ambient cozy. They did not take too much time to serve us, despite all the terrace was full. We would repeat...

Fried chicken was quite tasty with marinated melon and tomatoes. Pizza wasn't anything special. We had a nice waitress but there were some kind of debate with the kitchen staff and the waiters that kind of affected the mood in the restaurant. Expensive beer but that's quite normal in Lofoten.

Pizza restaurant
Fellini Lofoten As is a pizzeria located in Svolvaer, Norway, offering a delightful change from the local seafood cuisine. Visitors can enjoy some of the finest pizzas reminiscent of those found in Italy. The restaurant provides excellent service and delicious dishes such as Tagliatelle con carne and flavorful bread that resembles pizza dough. Guests also appreciate the quick and friendly service along with tasty garlic sauce served with their meals.
Had delicious pizza and kebab platters from here. We're from NY so we were not expecting this pizza to be so good! They even made us a white pizza for my MIL who has a tomato allergy which was delicious. We came here both days of our trip because it was so good and extremely reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly as well. We would definitely recommend it!

What a great restaurant! Big pizzas are HUGE, can be shared by two people. Lofoten special was great and so was the margarita :) Only downside is that they only open at 13:00, by then we were already starving but it was worth it

Nice pizzas they serve. A small pizza is good for 1-2 pax. Besides the shrimp pizza that comes with lots of olives, we ordered the grilled chicken too but it turns out to be more like fried chicken. Crispy and juicy though. It comes with a large portion of crispy fries and greens.
Faith L — Google review
Dont go to the river side restaurants i tried them all they all are bad! Come to Fellini instead and thank me later! The food is fantastic (which is a rarity in the region) and I loooooved their pizza! The shrimp salad was also excellent and fresh. The owners (two young guys with beards) were super friendly and nice and treated me like a family member and that added to my awesome experience with Fellini's!
Amir N — Google review
Had dinner at this restaurant last night and it was quite disappointing. The service was extremely inattentive; we had to wait an incredibly long time both to be seated and to pay. Even though there weren’t many customers, they prioritized later arrivals over us, which felt unfair. On top of that, the food was not tasty at all. We ordered pizza and pasta, and honestly, even someone who can’t cook would make better pasta at home.

The Thai food was amazing. Their Thai chef prepares authentic cuisine. I met the chef, and he was very friendly. I will certainly return when I am next in the area. The restaurant offers both à la carte and Japanese maki/sushi buffets.

Came here for sushi buffet. As a sushi lover, the food quality was fantastic, and its buffet price was very reasonable. The staff who served us was very friendly and even brought some color pencils and paper for the kids.

Got chicken carriage. Come with two peaces. Was yummy. Springs rolls, not life changing but really nothing wrong with them. Salmon nigiri was fresh and yummy, no complaints, Halibut nigiri recommended I think better than salmon nigiri. Sakura explosion was amazing m! Highly recommend. Service was great, all nice rolls were about 20 CAD. Great food along the travels would recommend this place!

Have a quick lunch at sakura! We ❤️ it! Food presentation at top notch. Price is affordable at norwegian standard. And taste was surprisingly good. Love the salmon teriyaki bowl!

Japanese?? Nope A very "unusual" japanese restaurant. Sashimi plate with almost only salmon... and 3 shrimps... Not even a sample of tuna Curry was more Thai than japanese style. Actually very bad for a japanese restaurant.

Your staff is really friendly and welcoming. It’s also a neat and tidy place. Food is not something really authentic but it’s good enough !!! Ps I came here a few days ago and had a great time here and so I also visited your restaurant in Leknes today ^^ Thanks a lot.

Good environment, great taste, relatively authentic and clean. Suggestion : it would be perfect if there could add Japanese ramen

First time here. The food here especially the sushi selections are awesome! One of the best sushi dishes I have tried. I highly recommend this place. The waiters are super polite and friendly as well. The place was fully booked but they still managed to find a table for us after waiting a short time.

The team at Lofoten Rental Car goes above and beyond to ensure a smooth rental process, providing automatic transmission cars for those uncomfortable with manual transmission. They are praised for their friendly and communicative approach, offering valuable advice on driving in challenging conditions.
Bengt and Kenneth is extremely helpful and easy going. I was supposed to pick up the car on Tuesday morning at 8am. But went over on Monday noon to just take a look first. Bengt told me I can take the car first with no added costs. Kenneth showed me to the car, briefed me on basic but important information on the car and gave me valuable driving tips in Solvaer. Thank you Bengt and Kenneth 🙏👍🏻 Highly recommended to those who wants yo rent a car in Solvaer.

Best rental car services & rates! They were very welcoming & friendly, letting us know of all the must-knows and basics. Got us settled in right away and the car was in perfect condition. You have to rent from them if you’re in Lofoten!

The company is run by two nice and funny gentlemen, Kenneth and Bengt. We did rent a car for five days to explore the Lofoten islands. It was very nice indeed driving an older, but very well-maintained and reliable vehicle. Everything went well, from picking up the car to returning it at the airport (even, in our case, earlier than previously agreed upon). Warm recommendations for this company. As a funny side-remark, our luxury luggage perfectly fit the boot (US: trunk), both in terms of the color and the size :-)

This is the first time I write a review, but it’s truly worth it. Everything was excellent.Great prices and amazing staff. I had never felt so much trust and peace of mind when renting a car. Honestly, having a car is essential to explore Lofoten. The staff was excellent, friendly, and flexible. I even ended up extending the rental for an extra day on the spot and it was no problem at all. Thank you for everything! I highly recommend it.
Pablo M — Google review
I want to thank Bengt and Kenneth for providing an excellent car rental experience! The process was quick and hassle-free. I truly appreciated the flexibility of allowing me to keep the car for an extra day without any additional charge, as well as the option to drop off the car at the airport on my way out. Both of you were very accommodating and easy to work with. I will definitely rent from Lofoten Rental Car again on my next visit to Lofoten. I highly recommend choosing these guys for your rental needs! -July 2025

Lofoten Rental Car is highly recommended. The service is outstanding, and the Kenneth and Bengt who run the company are very helpful and friendly. We rented the car from Moskenes ferry and drop it off to their office in Svolvær, a service and courtesy the big rental car companies don’t do, for an even better price! Just super! The cars they use are used cars (they tell you this), but are in very good conditions. We had a Ford Focus and driving it was super easy and pleasant. We didn’t have any issues, and were super happy! We had a great experience with them, and will contact them again in the future when we’ll return to Lofoten!

Ferry service
Svolvaer Ferry Service offers a convenient way to travel from Svolvaer to Skutvik. It's advisable to check the ferry schedule and arrive at least an hour before departure, especially during the busy summer season. There's no need for pre-booking; simply join the line and follow the guidance of the ferry crew. The ferry provides WC facilities and a small cafe onboard.
Took this ferry to and from Skrova on May 28 2024 and it was free, very few others were on it as it was not tourist season yet. Free parking as far as I could tell as I didn't take the car on the ferry.
Emma P — Google review
Terrible ferry service. We arrived around 9 am and planned to spend a few hours around the island of Skrova. The scheduled departure time was pushed back an hour from the planned 9:30 to 10:30 am. Once arriving at Skrova there was no general announcement made the passengers on board. They stopped for all of 5 minutes and took off to the other side of Norway. My wife and I spent the entire day on this boat and it skipped the island on the way back. If you do plan on visiting the island to hike or stroll around, be at the gate as soon as the boat docks in Skrova. There were over a dozen other people on the boat that were in the same situation. What an absolute joke of an operation.
Paul — Google review
Don't even bother trying to take the "free" ferry here if you have a car. First come, first served and they might only be able to fit 2 lanes on a boat, which means that you could arrive over an hour before departure and still not make it on. There's no priority for passenger vehicles or even Norwegian taxpayers who subsidize this. Space fills fast and is mostly taken up by foreign RVs/trailers. Unlike in ferry networks in North America (e.g., Washington/British Columbia), there's no effort to use space efficiently or give people waiting any insight into expected loads. There's clearly high demand for this service in the summer, but service is woefully inadequate.

Mirela M — Google review
Too small ferry and not enough departures on the Svolvær-Skutvik line. Had to wait until 22pm. August 22nd is still part of the main travelling season due to holidays in central Europe. This would justify an extended timetable or bigger vessels. Additionally they did not follow the order how people arrived for boarding. For the first ship they took line 1 and the half of line 2. For the next ship they started again at line 1. This was not fair.
J. — Google review
We arrived at 2pm to get on the 5pm ferry to Skutvik - and we already joined the end of the 6th waiting line. Lines 5 and 6 got in, plus a few cars from the line 7. The ferry staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the views beautiful all along the journey, including interesting stop at Skrova. Overall great experience, 4 stars only because of the long wait time.
Mária L — Google review
Can take the ferry from Svolvaer to Skutvik. Always check the ferry time and come in to the line at least 1 hour before. Earliest the best. The ferry was scheduled to leave at 8.15, but actually left at 8.45 in the morning. May get busy with tourists in Summer season. No need to pre-book or book online, just get into the line and the ferry crew will guide you inside to the ship. The ferry has WC facilities and a small cafe.
Savith P — Google review
It does its job by bringing you to Skrova or Skutvik! Be early at the waiting line since the ferry is quite small. We took ferry at 17.15 and the first lane was full by 14.00 Keep in mind that this is already high tourism season (June 29th)

Our stay in one of the cabins at this accommodation was honestly one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. The house is absolutely huge; even though it was just my partner and me, it’s also perfect for a group of friends or a family, as it has three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living and dining area, and two bathrooms. One of our favorite features was the balcony, where you can leave your camera recording overnight and wake up to see the magic you captured. On our last night, the sky gifted us an incredible display of intense Northern Lights, and we were able to enjoy them directly from the balcony. What an unforgettable experience. I truly recommend this place not only for its comfort but also for the amazing opportunity to watch the Northern Lights right from the balcony or the backyard.

Hiking Trails
Tjeldbergtind is a captivating hiking destination that offers an exhilarating experience for outdoor enthusiasts. Nestled just south of the city, this trail presents a moderate to challenging adventure, especially as you approach the peak where winds can be quite strong. The hike typically takes around four hours and features steep sections that require good physical fitness and sturdy footwear. While it may not be long in distance, the rocky terrain demands attention and caution, particularly on the descent.
We really enjoyed this trail. Mid September , drizzle , no wind lower part , strong winds at peak. Myself and two teenage boys , moderate to hard difficulty at the peak. Very quiet trail, started 11am , took around 3 hours and met a total of 4 people . I recommend to follow the route shown in 1st photo . Uphill first part was not too hard . Once towards the peak the wind kicks in harder and one needs to pay more attention . Once at the peak the down part can be a challenge . Thankfully there’s a chain to use to help come down. Slippery muddy parts on the downhill probably as it was raining by then . Views are fantastic and really rewarding !
Robert L — Google review
The hike Tjeldbergtind near the town Svolvaer is pretty amazing. The 360 degree views at the top are stunning.
Marc O — Google review
Two main ways up this short but sweet hill with amazing views of the towns on both sides. Rained on thrice with cooling blasting winds near the top, but I imagine you get used to the drizzles around here. The main route uses a paved road half way up, while the wilder route that we discovered on Google starts further down the road and has little to no markers with two collapsed wooden huts on the way up. This route is challenging due to a lot of running water and mud. If you're hitting up Tjeldbergtinden and want an easy hike with amazing sights, search the marked route under the Linken signs. There's 🔵 trail markers until you hit the steep ascent to the top. Have fun!
Sam S — Google review
Wow - what a cool hike that was at 11pm Make sure you are prepared for rapid change in the weather We were sitting in shorts and t-shirts at 1am but at 1.15am on the descent, the fog and wind came in at a frightening speed, it was so windy!
Mark R — Google review
2024-06-14. Beautiful views for midnight sun, but trail is not very safe by North American standards. Steep, no railings or supports, and little signage except at forks and with occasional cairns. Trekking poles were critical for me, especially on the descent. Google Maps is insufficient for this hike (and I assume many in the area), so do download one of the Norwegian map apps in the App Store and use that. Norgeskart Outdoors was the most useful for me. Effectively there are two trails to the main saddle, then a scramble to the top of what we’d call the “haystack” in the US. The Dalen trail is the primary trail, and there is another trail branching off the Linken trail about 70% to the Linken summit. The majority of the elevation gain is to reach the saddle. On the eastern side of the saddle (closer to Svolvær and the sea) is a prominence, which seemed nice and did not require a scramble. The haystack is the summit and is at the western side of the saddle. Consult the topo map and my screenshot. There are two approaches to the haystack: one is an unprotected scramble along the north edge (doable but very exposed), and the other has an ~8m chain. I went up the north scramble and down the chain. I’d recommend the chain for both, in retrospect. I took the main Dalen route up and returned via the cutoff to Linken. Dalen is more consistent of a climb: it starts climbing and maintains the same grade. There are duckboards in the areas of heaviest mud, but even after 5 days without rain, it was damp on the north approaches. Dalen intersects with Linken at around 10% into the Linken trail, and I actually liked that. I think the more you stay on the gravel road for Linken, the safer the trail is. I would recommend the Linken trail to the intersection to Tjeldbergtind at 70%, but it is incredibly steep. The steepest section gains 100m elevation in ~150m distance. It is deceptive after the fork, because the first ~250m only gains about 40m in elevation, then sharply increases. This felt downright treacherous on the descent, and it was in ideal conditions. The view is lovely, and I’m very happy to have experienced it at midnight during the midnight summer season. I think it is worthwhile, but I think it is critical to understand how the trail conditions are unsafe for the inexperienced. The nearby Djevelporten is a steeper elevation gain, but Tjeldbergtind demonstrates why the 505 Sherpa stairs were necessary. I hope that they make the same investment for sections of Tjeldbergtind, too.
Derek L — Google review
The road to get up there is steep but not too much. Before reaching the top there is a surprise - you need to use a rope to climb up there. When you get to the top, there are small flies that constantly get in your way and we didn`t stay long because of them. Overall a nice hike. I recommend it.
Яна Т — Google review
There is confusion about this hike, as many start with the idea that this is an easy or moderate hike. It is not! Although it is not a long distance hike, the track is frequently very steep and difficult to walk. You need a fairly good physical condition, preferably good hiking shoes and depending on age you might want to bring hiking poles. Do not forget to carry some food and water too, it took us in total 4 hours… having said all this, the hike comes with rewards. The views are stunning, all along the way and surely at the top!

Not sure if it’s just me or I took the wrong route, but it did’t seem category EASY to hike to the top to me. I went in mid-May, but snow is still melting hence making the route wet and slippery at times, do wear mountain shoes. However, the view at the top is really breathtaking. It made up for me that I didn’t hike at Reinebringen.

A park in front of Lofoten War Memorial Museum filled in with snow such that no one can walk into the park.
