The best food on our Scandinavian tour. Very nicely furnished, friendly and attentive staff. Excellent cuisine with great ingredients. All the dishes we had, such as oysters, caviar, bread and steak tartare, were superb. The kroppkakor were a particular highlight in terms of flavour. The wine list was also very fine. Been there both for dinner and lunch (soup + hot dish incl) at two separate occasions. The decor makes you feel like you're invited in to someone's home kitchen. Cozy. The fish was nothing special, especially considering the meat. WOW that was worth the price. Very tender and savory. Small tones of simple spices. The dish lasted a long time. Also the sortiment of wines along with the warm-hearted employees deserves a 5 star and a recommendation.

We went here to celebrate my birthday with my husband, service was amazing! they were very kind and attentive, the waitress even recommended us wines to pair with the food. I'm a vegetarian, and they had quite a lot of options for me, about half the menu was vegetarian friendly. Will definitely go back for special dates like that!

Cozy restaurant for Sunday brunch. The menu is very creative and we were very satisfied. Everything was very tasty and presentation was also very nice. It is a wine bar, so expect good selection of wines and allow to be recommended the best sort for your meal. They also have a selection of local beers. The service was professional and we got a great value for money.

The most ridiculous restaurant I visited among more than ten countries in the past ten years. Here is my experience: we sat there and waited for one hour for the starter (a piece of bread with salsa and olives), and waited another hour for the main course (mass potatoes and green peppers, ONE SMALL piece (3cm-cube) of pork and four small shrimps). Then we waited another forty minutes for the dessert (two vanilla ice cream scoops, and yes they “invent” to add salt to it and so ask for 100kr). Everything here costs at least five times more than it worth. If you are looking for some good food (not salty potatoes or green peppers) or don’t want to throw money (pay hundreds kr plus tips for breads and potatoes) or don’t want to sit three hours in a dark bar with uncomfortable chairs, STAY AWAY from this bar. I bought a MAX burger (much more tasty than their food) after my 3-hour marathon dinner at this bar.

Went in with high expectations, yet left a bit disappointed. Plates are a mix of different flavours, yet forgetting the essence and purity of local flavours. Service was even not to the standard of the food. Plates were put on the table and 1 minute later taken away to bring to another table. For one of the courses they even forgot to add sauce to the dish. Very dark setting, yet is subjective and some might like this. For the price you pay, should be better…

Undoubtedly the food was great. Small servings per course were expected. It was a little bit pricey. The only down fall was the whole course was served in a span of 3 hours. I imagine the setup was optimized for people who ordered 7 course meal and the drinking package. We only ordered 5 course and waited for eternity every other meal. I can imagine the waiting time for those who ordered only the 3-course meal. I went there hungry expecting to enjoy the food. Imagine myself hungry but was served with small portions of food every 30 mins. The main dish came after more than 45mins. The waiting time ruined everything. I totally lost my patience and was not enjoying the moment anymore after the second course. This restaurant is probably good for people who have lots of stuff to catch up with but not for people who are hungry and just want to eat and leave.

I had 3 course with drink package there. Food tasted great, drinks are amazing and matching. I had alcohol free variants that was amazing and surprised me. Service is outstanding and food/drinks explanations was great. Background music levels are just right, lights are great. Simply an amazing place to visit. At the moment of writing, it is top 1 in my list in Umeå.

Amazing food and wine. The staff are real pro's and very dedicated. We had 6 courses and 6 wines and spent in total 4 hours here. Hours that we enjoyed a lot! Taste combinations were exceptional in every dish. The sommelier gave us wine that suited very well with 5 out of 6 dishes, and good with 1 of the dishes. Which is still rare to find in up north Sweden. Simple plating and clean tastes in the dishes but cooked very well. We were surprised by the overall high quality and sense for small details here. Im definitely coming back next time im anywhere nearby!

I was looking for a local Swedish restaurant and I found this one but was disappointed to discover that the reviews were very different then the experience. The food was too expensive and wasn’t seasoned and sour. I gave the place 3 stars because it’s a great place to go and have a drink with very warm environment for a luxurious bar. I can’t say if all the food is like that as I tried only a starter and main course. I add the photo of the starter, a smoked reindeer heart, I didn’t feel much the reindeer but was nice. And for me what make the experience as well is the waiter that was rushing me a bit for the whole dinner. It says that the place closes at 1:00AM and around 10:30PM it felt that they want to close and rushed ppl to get the bill.

The chinese restaurant that's run by the Chinese, that's check out. The food is not 100% Chinese they have some asian mix to it. The weekend price (about 200) and the weekday price (about 130) is very different so keep that in mind. But the weekend buffet menu is quite worth the price with duck meat. Genuinely, the restaurant is not up to Chinese's normal standards but this is Sweden so I will give them a pass, not a bad restaurant in Umeå.

Shanghai restaurant serves the best Chinese food in Umeå. The best part is not only the tasty food, but also the great service. The are thief’s , they cheat me pizza Margareta which is cost 125 according website but the charged me for 145 SEK , there argument was that after 16:00 it’s price change which is on website , but I checked website there was no such changes anywhere . You just lost me as a custommer since the day you decided to change the price from +16.5% on the calzone , 145kr to 169kr it's way to much right now. i think i'm not the only one changing pizza place right now. [ Premise ] Took my mother to this restaurant as a delayed "80th Mother's Day gift" and invited one of her close friends to join us. Got some knitted, amazing TV-socks, Swedish "1970s-1980s style". I just love them and have them on whenever I get home from work. I was not impressed by my mother's choice of resturant, but ... [ So about "Bistro Le Garage" ] ... I was very surprised about the whole place; it doesn't look like much from the outside. So when it came to the first drinks, I also asked the waiter/waitress to just pick the best alcoholic/non-alcoholic choices according to our food choice order. And yes, we had the same waiter/waitress the whole evening. So I had no "big" hopes for it. But damn... I got an awakening when the dishes and the beverages started to roll out. And the waiter/waitress started to do the same as in Michelin-star restaurants, telling us about the dishes they were serving tonight where the meat was locally sourced. They also told us about where the beverage was from, local or not. So I give this resturant 5/5 for Food and Service it was excellent! [ Suggestion for "Bistro Le Garage" ] 1a) For the seating, nothing much to do about the room, but I could suggest some more flamboyant / Extravagant curtains in the "BIG" windows. Thick fabric :) 1b) Could also dampen the noise with big parties, since the Resturant was fully booked :). Was Okay noise level, we could talk to each other, when we arrived at 17:14.. But was a bit noicey in the end before we left 19:03. This when the group of 20+ collegues that had single colleague to celebrate I could not hear much across from the other side of the table. So this might have be a one off.. So I will not let this affect my review of the total score :D. All the best, Andreas

A gem in Umeå, a bit outside city centre but well worth the trip. Excellent service and the place is really nice. The food is really good, high standard and very tasty.

Best restaurant in Umeå. The dishes are original, well thought-out and above all very tasty. The staff is professional and friendly, do ask them about wine pairings for your order. The atmosphere is casual but with class, the open doors of the old garage building offer a unique view outside, especially in winter. The open kitchen and being able to see the chefs at work adds to the experience. Clear recommendation.

Came for a brunch, it was spectacular! A festival of tastes, wonderful atmosphere. Been wanting to come here for a long time, was worth it and sure gonna repeat the experience! Recommend 11/10!

The food was absolutely stellar. I think the tenderloin was the best thing I have ever tasted in my life. Next time I will only order tenderloin. Service also really good, the waiter was really funny and welcoming. Thank you!

Very relaxed setting, wonderful food and nothing pretentious. Simple fresh salads on a table, silverware in a drawer. Best atmosphere dining in Sweden so far. It was like having a really good family lunch on holiday, with all your mellow friends eating at other tables

Quite a mediocre indian restaurant near the city center. The food is ok, not good for the price, not very diverse. It can be crowded sometimes, not a super pleasant atmosphere.

Taj Mahal Umeå has a good buffet considering the price. We had a lunch and loved the spread.

I arrived at 14:50 and paid for the buffet. At 15:00, the manager told us the time was over and the buffet was finished. When I asked him to refill some items because I wanted to keep eating, he refused. After we had already paid, the manager’s attitude was dismissive and rude. He also refused to tell me his name despite repeated polite requests, which felt very disrespectful. The food was average at best, and with the manager’s poor behavior, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The waiter knows his menu really well. But this was one of the most disappointing Indian food I’ve had. Atmosphere was very quiet and stale as well.

Really disappointed about the customer service. At the beginning, before we start to eat one person came and said don't waste food. As resposible human beings we never waste food. I think it's not nice to say to a customer. And also we asked from them how much for a child,they said 85kr but they charged as an audlt 147 kr. I don't want to recommend this restaurant.

A charming restaurant by the river with beautiful decor and a warm atmosphere. The food is delicious, and the portions are generous, making for a satisfying dining experience.

We had a fantastic experience at Sjöbris! The atmosphere is vibrant and cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating that feels welcoming and stylish. The décor strikes a nice balance between rustic and modern, and there was even live music, which made the evening extra enjoyable. The food was excellent – fresh seafood beautifully presented, perfectly cooked fries, and flavorful burgers. The scampi platter on ice was a real highlight, and it paired so well with a good glass of wine. Everything was served promptly, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.

Nice restaurant, came here for a celebratory dinner. Food was fine but nothing extraordinary. We had the burrata as a starter which was tiny. The we had the pizzas which were the best from everything we had. The steak was supposed to be medium and was welldone. Burgers were okay. Service was great (we had a young polish waiter and he was very attentive and did well)! Overall nice experience but nothing exceptional 🙂

We wanted to get the experience of dine in a boat. It was congested. When it’s crowded and people talk very loudly it is not a quiet place to eat peacefully. People with claustrophobia and motion sickness have to be careful. Food was not value for money. Had a different taste. But portion was small and not delicious so as to match the price. There are other restaurants in Umeå which provide delicious food for better prices. Burger bun was cheap. The crust of the pizza was burnt and useless. The provided water bottle, no cold or lemon or mint or anything. Just normal. If they charge expensive, it’s appreciated if they could provide an exceptional quality. Service staff was good. But they had only one English menu. We had trouble with the sun rays directly fall into the face and high voices of other customers as the space is limited. This is only my personal experience. My preference. Not a repeat customer.

So finally we went to this restaurant after hearing about it from so many of our friends! Great location on the river and comfortable atmosphere. However food was so so! We ordered burger and räkmacka. But we had better räkmacka. The burger was alright. So if you want to enjoy few hours with your friends, a great place. But don’t expect great food :)

I recently dined at this unique restaurant located on a boat by the river, and the setting was truly the highlight of the experience. The views were stunning and provided a lovely backdrop for a meal. Unfortunately, the food was just okay - nothing spectacular, but it did the job. The service, however, needed some improvement. Our waitress seemed to rely heavily on the app for resolving issues, which didn't quite cut it when everything on the menu was in Swedish and I needed some assistance. It took a bit of time to get help, and a more hands-on approach from the staff would have made a big difference. Despite this, the atmosphere and location made it worth a visit.

You have to order all you foods via Pinchos app which was fun and interesting. It was suggested that to order 4 items at a time as the quantity is tiny and it comes in a wooden board. The whole environment was amazing to see around and you gonna feel your in a circus 🎪 arena. Will visit again.

Really great food and super tasty. Like a Tapas bar but self service. Sadly you can’t pay in cash, you can only order on an app and you need to verify with a text message. We’re Visiting from the UK and did not receive a text. It’s been 6 hours since I requested a verification code and still not received. Was told normally takes 5-20 minutes. Luckily we are visiting Swedish friends and we’re able to order from their phones, If we did not we would’ve had to leave and find someone else to eat. It’s a Very bad system, it needs some sort of verification via email as an alternative. I can recommend that you visit, but make sure you download and verify the app in advance so you don’t waste time until they fix the issue. I wanted to give 5 stars but 3 stars for the extensive amount of time wasted and useless app and no alternative to ordering.

It's a very particular place to enjoy your dinner. Meals are composed by special and delicious tapas. Concept is fantastic, especially if you love circus theme. Prices are a little over the city standard.

Great food but service was questionable. The mobile app did not send all notifications to some of us and one of the orders arrived 50min after we ordered it as they had forgotten about it.

It was really a pleasure to be there. The food was really good and I also like the concept. I came really late (some minutes before the kitchen closed) because I just arrived from the airport. But the staff was really really friendly and kind. Since it was my first visit at Pinchos, Jessica (i hope I spell it right) took her time to tell me detailled how to register and use the app. So overall excellent food & drinks and a very nice and charming staff. Visit you again when I'm in Umea the next time.

THE best bartender. Tells you a story about every beer you are about to have, and eventually taking. Highly recommended 👌🏻

Located in the cellar of Rex, Rådhuskällaren offers an awesome atmosphere coupled with very nice food and high quality drinks. They have a large selection of beers and wines and very competent bartenders who don't back down from a challenge. The cheese platter was excellent and they had some really interesting beers like one tasting of smoked ham. Definitely a must to visit when in town.

The basement was a cosy and beautiful bar restaurant with street food. We had burgers and beer. The staff were kind and the atmosphere pleasant. The burger was okay; the bread was too soft and white and rather cold, but the patty was nice.

Stay at the top floor and you soak in all of Umeå in one wiev. This hotel is offering quiert rooms and excellent sleeping. The ventilation is zero noicing and that garantee you to be alert the next day. Nice price too.

Rex Brasserie: High quality food in a great atmosphere.

The closest thing to a tap room in Umeå. A great beer cellar, and some decent options (and, unfortunately, Carlsberg) between the 12 draft options. All set in the basement of the stunning Rådhuset. Beer fans must not miss out.

We were only in the basement bar and it was quite amazing! The atmosphere had a really good vibe to it and we enjoyed our entire experience in the bar. It is very central. The drinks were amazing and the staff was super friendly. The bar provides a great selection of local beer and the bar tender knew exactly what he was doing and provided excellent service. This is the only bar we will be going to next time we are in Umeå.

The service and food at Sen Street Kitchen Avion Umeå is good. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Hanamii is gluten free and contained spirals of crisp cucumber and plenty of radish ”noodles”. There were plenty of edamame and various other components. There was plenty of salmon in nice cubes. The dish looks close to the one shown on the menu. The Hanamii served at Sen Street Kitchen Skellefteå is seriously lacking and a huge disappointment compared to the Avion experience. We ordered take away. Plenty of very soft rice and mayonnaise but no cucumber at all, a sad and very small pile of radish that were cut poorly and not in nice spirals. Smaller cubes of salmon and not as much salmon either, a few edamame a small pile red onions and very few salad leaves. Didn’t look at all like the picture on the menu. The only part of the dish that had the same measurements as in Umeå were the rice, the mayonnaise and the pickled ginger. So you end up with a mush of rice and no crispness or other textures to balance it off. Over priced. Dumsnålt. Not as good service as the Avion location either. I’ve contacted Sen Street Kitchen Skellefteå about my issues with the Hanamii but haven’t heard back from them. Avion Umeå: Food 5 stars because I’m happy to find something gluten free and the potion size and presentation was really good. Staff 5 stars because they were really friendly and super helpful. Sen Street Kitchen Skellefteå, Based on the gluten free options I’ve tried I wouldn’t recommend it at all. The other gluten free dish I’ve tried besides hanamii didn’t taste much and had pieces of over cooked chicken breast that was extremely dry. 👎🏻

Nice Asian/urban styled, almost cyberpunk sprawl themed, fast food restaurant with good selection and solid menu. The food is spicy and hot and still full of flavor and taste. The soft drinks/sodas are a tad expensive but the food is adequately priced. Very tasty, would eat again.

Tried the Ayam Laksa noodle soup and wow! Very delicious. Staff friendly, area very clean. Can't wait to pay them another visit. Definitely recommend.

I decided to order Ayam Laksa, and it turned out to be really delicious. It fulfilled my craving for Asian food and noodles perfectly. The broth was rich, flavorful, and had a wonderful aroma. The chicken was tender, and the noodles were cooked just right, not too soft or too firm. Overall, it was a truly satisfying meal that hit the spot for my Asian food and noodle fix.

Nice Asian restaurant with some tasty vegan options on the menu. Some of the vegan options change a bit depending on who's the cashier due to knowledge differences. The last to times the dish I've really wanted have been out of stock unfortunately, hopefully I can try it next time.

The bread was great, but the overpriced the fettuccini pasta was soft and mushy. The place really needs work. We were the only guests and we didn't get refills of drinks.

Omg, one of the worse restaurant experience of my life, the service was ok but the food was just disgusting. I was hungry but I couldn’t eat the pasta. Over cooked, no taste.

I had risotto with shrimps, that were both overcooked and slightly too salty. A risotto must be "al dente". In addition, the size of the portion was rather a starter than a main dish. My Co had a starter with ravioli which was micro-size, and the chanterelle seemed to me from the can. However the bread was very good.

Visited last week - we ordered starters. Angelini's Anti Pasta plate was disappointing from a cost to value standpoint; 2 small blocs of cheese, each divided in 4 small cubes, 2 slices of salami, 4 olives, one soup stick and a small piece of pickled 'carcioffo'. What did we pay for it? Sek.155. I'm not a big fan of XL starters but this was clearly on the other side of the generosity spectrum. As this was an indicator we skipped main and dessert, so we cannot comment about it. But In my opinion not worth revisiting. On a positive note, friendly staff and pets are allowed in the lobby/bar area.

I had drinks and played bowling and shuffle board here. For a group the price of this place is reasonable but for couples or singles this is very expensive. Good for students as they have discounts and also avoid going on Friday and Saturday.

We went here on after work and wanted to watch the football live and looked for a place with a nice atmosphere. It’s was alright, big screens. However the service was a bit slow and they forgot my French fries order. Quite expensive food here to be honest… Got a “chili n jalapeños burger” for 209kr and it was bland, not spicy, nothing special. No happy dance there. Food was 3/5. Come here for the football but maybe not food. Appetizers might be ok… the chicken quesadilla with cheese was burnt and barely had any filling!! 1,5/5…. Enjoy :)

Nice sports bar with amazing food, it wasn't too crowded so the service was outstanding. I had there pepperoni pinsa which was super good!

Food was very bad. Dry, generic burgers, had to put a liter of sauce on the them to be able to eat. It was like the meat was a couple of days old and been hit hard in the microwave, served dry and tasteless. Fries was lumpy and tasteless aswell. The girl that served us at the table was very friendly and helpful, the staff at the bar wasn’t even looking our way when serving. Guinness served light brown but that is very common at other places aswell. Well, that’s that.

If you are in Umeå this is the place to go! This is not a normal O'Learys, this is a whole fun park. On more than 3600 sqm you can find two restaurants, bowling, shuffleboard, darts, billiard, basketball, video games, karaoke and much more. The whole staff was very friendly and every special wish from our large group was met. We cannot thank Peter and his whole team enough for their excellent service.

The place is small and good. Liked the food. I would recommend pre-book the table if you are 5-6. The cafe provides range of sallads both warm and cold. I liked the warm one. Also the cafe has only vegan option which is a go-go choice for vegetarians.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Between 1200-1300 the place is full of lunch guests. After 1300 it gets less crowded and it is easier to find a table. I tried apple salad which tasted good, coffee is included in the lunch.

The place brought joy to my soul. I have pleaded to bring my German friend Hanna here. Not only was the food excellent but the coffee was INCLUDED! And the bread. Life pro tip: bring a good friend of yours here and have a good time! You won’t be the sorry people 😉

The restaurant was more or less empty, but it took them more than an hour to serve our lunch. We had ordered two portions of garlic bread, but only one ever arrived. We had to insist ourselves on a discount on the bill for the tardy service, and only received a 10% discount. When the food finally arrived, it did taste lovely, but the portions were on the small side (especially the vegetarian dish). It's a pity because the location and rooms are lovely.

Six main dishes starting at 155 SEK. More outdoor tables than indoors. A nice sea breeze and sunshine on the day we visited. The IT-competent person orders and pays with the WEIQ app. If you don't fall into that category, try your luck at the bar. Water is free.

Over priced and basic. The restaurant is furnished like a school dining hall. For the price I'd expects to be seated by a waiter by a white cloth table, not to order at the bar. Asked for kids menu, they offered fish n chips... we paid an "adult price" but portion was very small. Salmon soup was announced as fish soup when served... Couldn't find a piece of salmon in it. Also ordered "Avocado and tomato salsa with garlic bread and tofu pesto"... It was a salsa with tomatoes but mostly some type of sauerkraut on top of what I'm guessing was supposed to be garlic bread, very thin and crispy. Topped with sliced half avocado and a large chunk of pesto, plus rocket salad. Would been good as side dish... in a very small portion. Had to ask to refill the bread basket and butter - under staffed and not very friendly. The location is nice, situated next to the sea the view can be great, but the surrounding area is not very nice... The restaurant been there for at least 5 years, but it never seem to be finished. No grass, trees or plants... Mostly gravel, dirt and construction site when you look around. If you go there I think it's safer to order prawn sandwich or fried herring... I think it might be worth what you paying. Sorry but I won't go back there again.

Wonderful location by the water (the part of Östersjön called Kvarken), with the possibility to either sit and eat outdoors, or indoors in light-filled rooms with large glass windows/doors. The main dishes were great and well-priced – there were four different fish dishes to choose from – and the wild salmon, tataki style, was particularly delicious! The Kalix caviar starter I felt was a bit overpriced; served with deep fried "bread sticks" rather than Swedish potato pancakes. The dessert choices were a bit disappointing as well. Lastly, they could include a small children's menu for the families with kids.

We called ahead of time about an outside table due to a vulnerable person in our group to Covid. They said no worries, come on out. We arrived and the place is way overpacked, absolutely no physical distancing, and you have to wait in a crowded line ***inside, with people just cm from each other*** It was like a "get your covid right here" party. It made me mad that A) we drove from town 1.5 hours in total to get there and back B) They don't seem to care about the safety of their customers, and C) I didn't get to try the apparently amazing fried herring. Please clean up your act Kvarkenfisk. Fortunately, or 2 year old is into helicopter and got to see this happen, so we got that going for us!

Classy. $$$. Somewhat off the beaten track, but well worth a visit for a tourist visiting/passing by the Umeå area.

Cosy reception, smiling workers. Neat rooms with noiseless ventilations. Not so far from vasaplan(bus hub). Breakfast and dinner is served as part of the cost, so you say room, breakfast and dinner hotel. Likable hotel. Rally Sweden guys like the hotel too ;)

Room and bathroom very clean. We slept 1 night in a room without windows. It did not bother us. Breakfast ok. Paid parking in the garage next to the hotel. The hotel has an elevator and facilities for disabled people.

Dinner included in the price, nothing special, not a lot, but is great to have it. Location is good, but you have to pay for parking. Breakfast is pretty standard, but enough.

Great and friendly staff. Very helpful. Free + good/tasty dinner and coffee/tea available throughout. Close proximity to the city. Sauna available for free. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is :( : the room we stayed had constant noise overnight from a heater/some other kind of machine which disrupted our sleep overnight. Sound Was disturbing. Also we stayed for 3 nights and none of the days we had room service to clean room or provide towels etc. (Even though we've put " please go ahead" sign at door)

Good location near the city centre and train station. Dinner is included in the price and is fine, but with only two options (default or vegetarian). Breakfast is nothing exciting but overall good quality. The rooms are spacious and mainly well-kept but I was annoyed by the larger-than-usual gap beneath the door which let in light and noise from the corridor. Bathroom floors are heated, which is nice, but the material was extremely slippery when wet. I was here for a work event and they seemed a bit unused to serving even a small-ish conference group.

Horrible experience, we ordered take away to have dinner at hotel. We drove all the way to the main city, but the mixed veg & both rice boxes were stale, naan was undercooked. Complete disaster food, we couldn’t eat most of the food. It is the responsibility of the chef to check the quality of the food before packing. Chicken & lamb taste was still OK & we could atleast eat some but we had to make rice at Air B&B & the naan was not eatable even after heating up. Being tourists we had to rely on the take away food but it is not good at all & how can they serve old stale food. Never had such an experience before. Waste of money. Not recommend at all, seems it was Sri Lankan restaurant, there were no customers inside.

The chefs at Gandhi put so much love in their food. Staff is super friendly, prices are great. Spent last few weeks touring all over Sweden, this makes the very top. I had the vindalo, it blew my away - thank you thank you thank you!

Fantastic!. Easily can say it was my best indian cuisine experience in Sweden. Chef Soboj's Tikka Chicken (chili) with Mexican fajita style serving will blow your mind. Very delicious Naan bread (garlic). A tiny tip: Even during lunch, order your food from the menu instead of open Buffett. Their open Buffett is also good but if you want the real experience of Indian cuisine, menu is the key. Restaurant is quite clean, but it's an underground restaurant without windows yet Ambiance and the location is perfect.

Went for takeaway. Food was amazing! We ordered in English as tourists, not a problem at all. Food was fresh and would definitely recommend to either sit here or take-away to eat in the road or in a hotel.

The closest it can get to Indian food with the kind of groceries available in Umeå, overall it was an enjoyable experience, cozy ambience and friendly staff! We ordered a mix vegetable thali and a Punjabi thali (in picture) which were price savvy with a good mix of varieties. Weekends can get a bit full there but the service doesn't change!

We ordered Naan, Paratha, Daal Makhni and tea. Everything was delicious, fresh and hot. Great service 👍

I tried a dish I've never had before, so it's hard to compare it to other restaurants in Umeå where I (before this dinner) had a dish I eat regularly. But the food was good and I was very satisfied. The restaurant wasn't very elegant in its design, so if you find that sort of thing important I'd go elsewhere. But Ghandi seems to be a great place for food, a nice staff and great prices. You get a lot of quality food when you order, something I found to be missing at the other Indian restaurant I went to during my stay in Umeå. So I'd recommend you to at least try Ghandi once. And make sure to say hi to the owner, he's very friendly, something I value when dining.

so there was a mixed review, I waited a long time for my food over an hour for a burger I think they forget me also there was no waiters so I had to order from the bar maybe that was my mistake I'm not sure how this place works but they felt bad and gave me a free beer so overall not a bad experience but was confusing. I will say they were apologizing and I don't think this is normal.

Amazing moment, such a great find in Umeå! This is a game place, you can play for free to all types of game : pool, pétanque, boad games of all kinds etc... So enjoyable! The waiter was SO friendly and genuine, really cool! Ordering process is autonomous, all from the QR code app.. You order and pay on the app and then have notification or order progress. Food is good but probably a little overprice.

Good bar with several different activities available : billiard, boule and Shuffle board ... There are generally a lot of people so you can wait a bit for a beer but there are still table.

We have had our management team dinner in Orangeriet Boule & Bistro. We have enjoyed a lot. The dinner was amazing, they offer several variety of beverages; both local and international. There is also shuffleboard and billiards which you can play and enjoy with your company. The staff is very nice, friendly and pro. Especially 'Fay' made our day -mine the most- ;) Big applause to her. For sure I will visit this place again. Prices were normal for Umeå standards.

Beautiful restaurant, really good food. Super friendly staff. However, the bathroom (which was once very pretty) is covered in graffiti and, looks as of it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. I washed my hands and left but, I left feeling disgusting for even stopping foot into the bathroom.

I'm reviewing the restaurant regarding the New year's eve dinner. The food that was served totally ruined our night. I was really looking forward to trying all the dishes but they were just terrible. We barely got through the appetizers. What especially shocked me was that there was no bread or anything served with the tartare - honestly how you are expecting a guest to just go through a plate of just raw meat? Very weird choice, but nevertheless we hoped that the main dishes would be better. To our disappointment they were even worse. Just inedible. We didn't even eat half of the fish and I only ate a piece or two of the venison. The fish was just so bland, especially the sauce paired with it was so disgusting - just made the whole dish flavourless. Were there any spices used during the cooking? The venison was awfully undercooked. It was so gummy that I couldn't chew through it without gagging. I don't understand why the staff didn't ask us for the preference regarding the meat? To be honest I have made a better one at home recently, so the texture of the meat itself wasn't the problem. The last disappointment was the cake, which I hoped would save this disaster. It was few dry crumbs of brownie with a bit of ice cream. Just laughable. Somehow it was a fitting ending to this whole flop, that this "dinner" was. It was one of the most expensive dinners in my life, but somehow it was the worst. A cheap vietnamese restaurant in Prague was a Michelin worthy dining experience compared to this. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to eat here. The chef should be fired for composing this menu.

We ordered take away, they overfilled the bag so it broke - then made us pay for replacing the item that spilled because of their own careless overpacking. Was looking forward to having a new regular spot but will avoid in the future.

Ordered deep-fried shrimp and chicken fried rice. Both were disappointing. Overcooked rice and the shrimp were too oily. Asian place should at least cook the rice right.

Staff was nice and the food tastes ok. Late arrival of the food and not everyone getting their plate at the same time (5-10min difference) takes a bit off the experience.

Very friendly staff in a beautiful spot. I really enjoyed the beautifully decorated patio directly in Umeas city center. The local gin tonic was great ( thanks to the lime), fruity and strong enough. The beers were also really delicious ( I preferred the sweet brew-team IPA). As a starter I had the smoked Bürste which tasted extremely good. Smoky, creamy and a little paprika touch made that simple dish extremely good. Unfortunately they didn’t serve bread with the Bürste (would have been good to empty the plate). The smashed burger was good, had a nice spicy touch thanks to the jalapeño and enough cheese on it. But it was fairly small. Also the patty could have been cooked a little less long. The fries & sauce tasted good, but the dish was a little to small for that price. The restaurant is easily accessible for people in wheelchairs, is perfectly located and nicely decorated. It really makes fun to hangout there. The staff were very friendly (gave me a paper menu cause the website is in Swedish haha) and knew a lot about the gin & beer. I really enjoyed the evening and can totally recommend this place. Especially for the awesome, interesting & local drinks!

Always a good vibe at Guilty Pleasure Café! The menu is fresh and relevant. If you’re grabbing a quick bite.. hear me out the sticky chicken tenders are a must try. Drinks are really well made (big shout-out to the Bloody Mary and the ghost of prince!) and the service is consistently quick and friendly. It’s no surprise the place is always buzzing with people it hits the sweet spot between cozy and cool. A real gem in Umeå. Definitely worth a visit!

A very popular place in town that perhaps doesn't quite live up to it's popularity. The interior is nice enough and the staff is very relaxed and friendly. The 'order digitally at the table' thing drags down the overall feeling of the service a bit, even though it probably is much more efficient. The wine comes in a small 15cl standard, with the option of 25cl or an entire bottle. The food is fine but not great. The Ceasar salad came with crispy fried chicken which seems like an odd although interesting choice. It perhaps doesn't really improve upon the tried and true recipe but at least is a bit playful and has the right intent. Overall seems a bit hyped up if you compare the quality to the length of the queue outside.

The non-alcoholic Bloody Mary and jalapeño grilled cheese close to perfect. Everything else “meh.” Wrong sides delivered, chips cold, salad drowning in vinaigrette, blueberry pancakes had been sitting for a long time. Plus miserable Swedish approach to service, unnecessarily long wait outside because there’s only one person bussing tables, no menus; whole restaurant full of Ellen staring at their phones. 👎

As others have mentioned it’s touch and go with the staff members. Some are more lively and welcoming than others, but both serving personal pushed in the building door as I was going outside. I know Sweden is not great on smiling and greeting, but restaurants should teach kids to give way for customers and make eye contact. Letting people out a door before you go in is basic manners. We also asked for the shade to be drawn when the sun moved onto us, a staff member answered “yes” and disappeared forever. We didn’t order deserts and left. The food was interesting- tuna salad was mostly grains and little greens, my eggs royale was renamed to salmon Benedict which made me chuckle. The sauce was cold. The English muffin wasn’t really that and instead some very soft bread that wasn’t enough of a base for all the protein. The lemon water was out. All in all it’s a nice enough place in a nice location.

A bit hard to find inside the shopping centre, this cafe has a nice and relaxing atmosphere with some of the better interior design in town. Unfortunately the food isn't on par with the furnishings as is readily apparent from the photos taken during my visit. The Ceasar salad was fine but had some questionable sandwich meat instead of bacon and quite dry and tasteless croutons. For the price it was one of the more disappointing Ceasar salads I've had. The house white wine was very good though and the service was fine. I visited during lunch hour on a Saturday, so the cafe was quite empty. From reading other reviews this might vary quite a lot. I probably wouldn't eat here again but would definitely go for the relaxing atmosphere during off hours and a glass of wine.

Stopped by to try some local beers while passing through Umeå, and I was pleasantly surprised. They had a nice selection of local brews, offering a good variety to get a taste of the area’s craft beer scene. Great spot for beer enthusiasts looking to explore local flavors.

The food is not very tasty, it's ok but next time I'll put my money somewhere else. The Guinness definitely tests wrong, maybe they should clean the pipes. The service was ok I suppose. Considering. All in all it was not awful but I'm not coming back and wouldn't recommend either.

One of the best bars in Umeå. They have wide variety of drinks and snacks. The place is very cosy, with nice lightning and chairs. There is this room where the walls are covered with wallpaper in the shape of bookshelves which adds a nice touch to the bar. On some weekends they have a music event where a band comes and performs of the little scene that they have. A great place to hang casually with friends, chat and have a drink.

Fairly decent selection of alcohol. Prices were high but that seems to be the case in Sweden anyways. Bartender wasn't very good at pouring drinks (had about an inch of foam at the top of my glass)

What a horrible experience I just received. Ordered food, and arrived at the restaurant around 10mins just after ordering (came 5 mins early before the food was supposed to be ready). Yet upon receiving the food, felt it with my hands as I noticed it wasn't hot, nor warm, but cooler. So straight after did I forward this complaint to staff who kindly bought my food to the back for another, but I did not receive another fresh order as one arrogant manager took over and was already irate that someone would even dare to make a complaint about the temp of the food. His way of handling things was to dump a little meat and sauce on top to hide the food from before, then blame me and throw words at me in attempts to deter me away without allowing me to answer back or elaborate further, to the point he caused a scene and I had to talk to another member of staff. Just because you can't manage how many customers you have doesn't mean that I as a paying customer should receive the heat of your stress. Unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable. The manager's arrogance couldn't care less if he lost a customer anyway. The food itself was bland despite the copious amount of sauce on top.

Very friendly, laid back and welcoming staff, one gets the feeling that this is a place where people enjoy working. Food is good and reasonably priced. The location/views are gorgeous, with an outdoor seating area overlooking the river. It was a shame that outdoor tables weren’t protected from the sun however when we were there as the sun was too strong to sit in. Nice with vegetarian options on the menu. Not a very extensive menu but it changes ever so often. Everything tasted good and felt worthwhile ordering except the rhubarb dessert which I’m sorry to say was... gross. The crumble had a strange aftertaste as if the butter had been out in the fridge with other food and there was something crystally as if the sugar hadn’t melted...

A very nice all around restaurant on the side of the river. Indeed the location is a very strong point of this restaurant, the view outside is one of the best if not the best view restaurant in Umeå centrum. The service is okay, professional and quite quick. The food is okay imo their entre combination is innovative but not quite what I looking for, on the otherside the brownies is great and they have coffee from Costas (local specialty coffee shop) which is very nice. Overall quite nice restaurant especially for summer lunch where you can enjoy the sun while eating.

Some of the best food served in Umeå coupled with a nice and minimalist interior makes Tonka Strandgatan worth a visit. The food is very well put together and the ingredients simple but very high quality. Unfortunately at the time of this visit the service was a bit so-so. Staff that seemed very new or inexperienced and some questionable choice of glassware and tableware took down the experience somewhat. The placement of tables also made it difficult to get in and out of the seats, making the entire place feel a bit cramped. The wines were fine but nothing special. We also had pre-dinner cocktails, one of which were very nice; called Jalla Jalla with mezcal and chili. We were all very happy with our food so overall it was definitely worth a visit.

Truly one of the best restaurants in Umeå. Knowledgable staff who make great recommendations, complimentary food/drink combinations, and flavours with depth and texture. Be sure to try the locally-made Iscider and good alcohol-free range of drinks to pair with food. Sticky floors had me as soon as i entered the restaurant/seating area. (Feet stuck to the floor when standing still, whilst walking it sounded "clack clack" When we got our table, old nachos and other crumbs were all over the floor around our table. The drink station had ants on it. The meat (Oxfilé) was below average and not really tasty at all, every piece was either close to raw or to well done. From the taco buffet the nachos where soggy. In general a very very poor presentation, and food NOT worth the 300 SEK you had to pay. I will never go back and i couldnt really recommend anyone else going there either.

This is more like a school dining hall than a restaurant. They are most famous for their taco buffét, which is a lot more expensive than home made and the lowest quality ingredients imaginable, and their meat buffét, which is just barely OK. The only times I pay for food here is when my friends force me here because they seem to like it (I have no idea why).

The all you can eat menu was too expensive for relatively low variety of dishes. The dishes which were supposed to be warm were cold, too. Probably it is a good choice for bigger groups.

Out of 3 dinners we ate 2 here. First time we had the plate for 2,and the second time a steak and a burger. Tasty food, we did not wait long for the food. They don't have a menu for cocktails but they will make any cocktail you wish, just let them know. The reason why i give them 4 stars is that there's not a lot of variety in their menu.

A small and cozy pizza restaurant in the Tomtebo area. The taste and setup is definitely italian, I will say their pizza is pretty legit italian with nice dough and nice stretching technique, olive oil is always ready for you 👌. Overall in Umeå you cannot ask for more than this if you're an Italian imo.

Excellent dough, pre and after cook ingredients and brick oven. The pizzas were a little burnt, but everyone got the same, so I think it was like it should. Don't know how healthy it is... But the taste was great.

The food was amazing and personally love the Oreo Shake. Bathrooms are clean and the atmosphere in the restaurant is very unique and well executed. Only downside this time was the self serve stations that have apparently been causing issues with the orders which caused the friendly staff to assume my order had been wrong and tried correcting it. Unpopular opinion: While this is one of the most liked places in Umeå and with that I thought to try it. I took the Vegan Ramen bowl, it was not bad but not over the top either. The soup/curry had some mix taste but you have option to enhance the spice level if you want. Since it is small place, it could feel bit congested to some. But with all said, I may not go again. However, don’t judge as it was Vegan and you get some strong taste with tofu and all but other than this they have so many options like Non-veg bowls, Sushi and others which could be tried as well

I thought the ramen was actually quite good and being able to eat it outside in the chilly weather made it even more enjoyable. The buzzer system was a bit weird. Why give me a buzzer if you’re going to bring it to my table anyways? I digress.

I have visited here multiple times now- alone as well as with friends. Located right in the heart of Vasaplan. I love the ramen they serve. Apart from that I have also tried different snacks like panko fried shrimps, dumplings, homemade yuzu lemonade, etc. Everything is awesome. I recommend this place to everyone if you want to have awesome ramen. The ambience is very nice and the service is quick. There are sushi options too.

The ramen tastes well, while it is a little overpriced. A con is the serving time is so long at peak hours, for more than 40 min.

Upon seeing the menu, I wanted to get all the sides but when I saw the other tables, I figured not to get everything because the ramen servings are HUGE!!!! I still got the tempura and karaage and both of them are very good! Mind you, there are very few places in Sweden that serve chicken karaage! The ramen comes in a big bowl - a very generous serving - it is a good ramen! It is in a central location and has perfect and clean interior. A must try restaurant in Umeå definitely!

The staffs here are very friendly. The serving was a little bit slow but the food was great. Ramen was good and tasty. We ordered a side dish (the salmon belly) which for me was just perfect as a starter. I had a nice experience and would love to eat here again on my next visit.

If you're looking for a filling meal (packed with variety) at a neat fraction of the cost, in a nice atmosphere, then the buffet at Balder is the place. I'd consider it the best budget find with regards to restaurants in the area when looking at cost and what's on offer.

The food is really good. One of the few Mongolian BBQ-places that somewhat measures up to Djingis Khan in Stockholm. I just wish they would have chicken kabobs.

Their buffét is really nice and not very pricey. Staff is nice and welcoming and service is good, but it is also very obvious that as soon as you're done eating (spending money) you are expected to clear out as fast as possible.

What a delight. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and helped explain the best way to eat our food with the injera. We had the veggie sharing plate for two, which was a great way to try out some different dishes and was a good amount of food for the two of us. The food tasted great as well, with a bit of spice but nothing too strong (good for a shared dish).

Come here if you miss African food (east Africa, north eastern and southern Africa dishes) . I had a Tusker lager beer (I haven't seen it anywhere else) ugalai, you have to tell them how you want it otherwise they serve it soft. The staff is friendly.

Dinner for 3. Unassuming from outside, once you're in they managed to create a very good decor and keep an even better vibe going. We found the food to be largely, with very small and careful adaptation to European tastes (and regulations). You're invited to use your hands to eat, silverware available on request. Good selection of African, international and local beers and wines. Cocktails done well. Staff exceedingly friendly and helpful. Prices very reasonable. An unexpected and wonderful experience in northern Sweden.

There's so many people here all the time. The food was good and the portions are enormous. The staff speaks English so you shouldn't worry about that if you don't speak Swedish. The prices are great and they serve a coffee that they roast there, imported from Ethiopia. We enjoyed it a lot, service can be a bit slow so don't go there in a hurry, again, this is because of how many people they have. They are vegetarian and vegan friendly as well. Would totally go again!🤩

It was amazing, ordered two dishes the zebra and crocodile with the barefoot red wine, and for dessert, I had chocolate cake. After dinner, I stayed for a clubbing experience, it was one of the best experiences that I have not had in Umeå Sweden. I would def recommend it. If you’re visiting Umeå or you’re in Umeå do not hesitate to make at Zaion Horn of Afrika Restaurant bar. Super friendly staff and the owner is very very nice, the place is customer-oriented ❤️❤️❤️, I would do it again for a thousand times.

The two of us that went are both vegan so we checked when we walked in and were assured that they had some great options and we weren't disappointed ! we were kindly offered a complimentary starter, and went for a five dish sharer plate main which was full of the tastiest, lightly spiced and filling food we could hope for. would highly recommend as an exceptional vegan option in umea, and for non-vegans too of course ! the team were also very polite and friendly. shame it's a 14 hour trip from us otherwise we'd be regulars !

I personally had a very nice experience. The server was really kind and even told me how to make some of the dishes when I asked about it. I read in the comments that some complained about the portion being too small and that the food being too bland. Regarding the portion, I ordered the "small" meat stew with 2 other side dishes and a piece of bread. They said that you could get a refill of some of the dishes, but for me, the portion I got was enough, thus not needing a refill. What I needed to refill was my water cup. I could tolerate the spiciness, but definitely needed some water (I'm quite weak but like spicy food). For people who have grown up eating more authentic Pakistani food, the spiciness probably isn't there. But for people who grew up in Sweden, the spiciness is enough for the majority.

A great selection of authentic dishes served with the tastiest Lassi I have ever tasted. It has to be full mark! The dedicated and polite waiter was the icing on the cake!

Decent, nothing more, nothing less. Used to be the king of Burgers in Sweden but has since regressed to this, whatever it is.

Crispy fries very bad , imagine you eat rubber, and if you takeaway your food , you can’t eat Crispy fries .... Everything else was good and fresh, but the Crispy fries was too bad made me give 1 star... I will try in future if they will fix that i will give 5 starts

Needs more experience & customer service in the team. Simple request to replace a small portion of chips dropped by my child was met by suspicion and a rude comment about who is liable for the money. If its your policy that is fine, you do however need your teams to be able to explain that in a professional manner. Besides that, great tasting food as always!

Okay establishment but might attract some unsavoury characters with loud voices even at night on a workday. Food was good and it was nice that it was open a few hours into the night so one can have a meal if other places have closed for the day.

Bad service. Ordered milkshake, but due to machine problems they would bring it later to my table. Finished my meal and still no shake. Had to go to counter and ask where it was. They said they could not make it and I could get a refund or I could pay more and get a more expensive milkshake made by hand. Since I was thirsty I had to pay even more and wait for it.

I went there late at night to wait the train and I was planning to stay there an hour or so. I ordered the food and went to the table. After couple of mins a dude came by the table to tell me that you can't stay there. Maybe you could have some signs of you want that. Food was as well cold and hamburger vere poorly done. Not recommending at all.

It's better than McDonald's. I just really think the prices need to drop. 90+ kronor for a burger? Tastes good, but I think Burger King tastes better and better prices.

Very friendly personnel slightly disappointing as the requested topping was not on the pizza. Pizza wasn’t cut either making takeaway not really convenient. But the pizza was tasty and the meat on the pizza was plenty.

Needed large pizzas for an event. Ordering from Foodora did not work and showed a delivery time of 50mins. Called up the restaurant and ordered (in broken English... my Swedish is terrible) and they delivered within 30mins. Payment was taken by Swish when they delivered! Beware that pizzas are not cut into slices, which is apparently a thing in Sweden, though it makes no sense. Awesome service from Angen, quicker & cheaper than Foodora. Very happy.

Best pizza place in Umeå. But also most expensive. One of their pizzas has 24k gold flakes on top (have to be ordered a few days in advance to get the other ingredients like beluga caviar etc). Staff is nice as long as you don't point something out or correct them in some way - they are easily offended. It's best to eat in the restaurant, because it has happened several times for me when I opt to bring the food home that when I get home I discover one or several ingredients missing. So if you take the pizza home, check first that it's all there.

Very ınteresting pizzas, nothing like i've ever eaten. I asked for four cheese and they made one of the best pizza which was not Italian but Mediterranean four cheeses with fresh olives. Really successful, they also have boring swedish pizzas but you can always try their specials

Quite place at 1730h before rush hour. Italian style thönfisk (tuna) pizza with very thin crust 93 SEK abt 9€

Very good pizza. Best in Umeå as far as I've tasted. Not the most "restauranty" feeling but the pizza is so good it's fine to just take home to eat.

One of the best pizza places in town, especially because you can order double dough and get a thicker pizza with a lot of topping.

Hello my dear friends, your restaurant is fantastic and the quality are excellent. But last year I've been there and suggested toy you guys to prepare a good PICANHA, I can go there and show to you guys the Brazilian style to do. Now we already have one in place in UMEA preparing that, lets do also. Do you want to go for it? Look at that.

Service was good and the food was amazing. I could've eaten here daily with these prices.
