The Kiruna Church, a stunning wooden church constructed in the early 20th century, is a remarkable example of Gothic Revival style with an art nouveau altar. It is one of Sweden's largest wooden buildings and was built to resemble a traditional Saami tent. The church was established due to the mining opportunities in Kiruna, home to one of the world's largest iron ore mines. Visitors praise its inclusive atmosphere for all religions and its unique decor featuring Sami symbols.
Beautiful church. Amazingly quiet and has a wonderfully rich wooden aroma. Nice and warm inside too. Definately worth braving the snow and cold to take a peek in!
Suzi F — Google review
This extraordinary wooden church measuring 35x35x35 m and weighing 600 tons is now soon ready to be moved in one piece along with the adjacent bell-tower to their new home in the cemetery of the city a couple of kilometers closer to the new center of Kiruna. We passed Kiruna during the first half of July 2025 and the transport of the church that will be done at a speed of about 0.5 km/h is scheduled for the 19th and 20th of August with the 21st as a reserve day. All hotels in town are already fully booked since a long time because the event attracts loads of people from near and far. Not to be missed if you are in the area!
Sebastian R — Google review
It is one of the most beautiful, simple but georgous churches I had ever seen. It wellcomes you with its generosity. The structure was unique for a church
Gamze D — Google review
I was thrilled to see the church 5 days before it got moved to its new location.
Andrew S — Google review
Awarded the most beautiful structure in Sweden 2001. One can almost hear the theme from the Pirates of the Caribbean played the church's grand organ. Otherwise, is a bright, quiet and peaceful place for meditation and prayer
Eron C — Google review
Very pretty church and Bell Tower, the door is unlocked for access. The church is due to be relocated in the next 12 months into the new city area of Kiruna due to the mining.
Paul E — Google review
Its a beautiful church! Everything is made out of wood, definitely worth visiting! They are planning to move it because of the mining nearby so visit it as long as its on its original place

Very nice church. Unfortunately hidden due to a planned moving of the church as part of the moving of Kiruna centre

Mine
Kiruna Mine, located in the Kiruna municipality of Sweden, is an ore mine situated in the Kiirunavaara mountain. It has been a significant site for iron ore mining since the early 20th century and is renowned as the world's largest and most advanced underground mine for iron ore.
Fascinating visit to the mine. The visitors centre is 500mtr under the mountain.
Micheal C — Google review
It was an interesting tour. We can easily buy the ticket in advance at the tourism office, which is also the meeting point for the visit to the world's largest underground iron ore mine. If possible, I would recommend taking this tour on your first day in Kiruna. You would not only discover the mine at a depth of 500 meters but also learn more about the city's history and daily life. The guide told captivating stories, answered all the group's questions clearly, and was very attentive.

(Translated by Google) Undoubtedly not a cheap pleasure, but definitely worth every single crown! You don't see something like that every day 🥳 The starting point is at the tourist information center in Kiruna. From there we take the bus into the mine, several hundred meters deep... Absolutely impressive! Once you get to the bottom, you can get a lot of information about the mining of iron ore and marvel at various impressive machines in the museum. An excursion that is second to none 🙌🏻 (Original) Zweifellos kein billiges Vergnügen, aber definitiv jede einzelne Krone wert!

(Translated by Google) Generally speaking, it's an interesting tour, as you learn a lot about mining. However, the English is spoken very quickly and packed with information; a few more pauses and a more practical focus would have been great. The tour takes place in the mine, but could easily be held outside, as there's hardly any connection. You don't get much insight into the current work and challenges. The price, like so many things in Scandinavia, is very high. I'd rather watch an explanatory video than repeat the tour or recommend it.

Stejk Street Food is a popular food truck in Kiruna, offering a simple yet delicious menu featuring meat and cheese subs, burgers, and various options like reindeer, moose, bacon, and vegetables served with fries or as tortilla wraps. The food truck provides seating inside a tepee with a cozy fireplace. While the prices are relatively high, visitors appreciate the warm and inviting atmosphere of this unique dining experience.
One of the best and most unique street food experiences. Food was absolutely great, we had reindeer and moose mix with fries in original size. Portion is big and it’s very very tasty. Loved eating in a tent - very memorable. And the service is just so cheerful and lovely. Ten out of ten experience and definitely a must visit!
Klaarika J — Google review
Really genuine and authentic cuisine! It was our first meal in Kiruna and it did not disappoint! The vibe is also really cool and warm especially if it’s really cold and snowing outside like today. 10/10 would recommend 100%!
Stephanie B — Google review
Its just simply perfect 👌 T’was my first time eating reindeer and moose, and it was great! Everyone was also friendly and helpful. They even called us just to inform that aurora was visible.
Honey L — Google review
Fantastic street food. I ordered the stejk and fries with reindeer and moose. The meat was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and very tasty. The fries were homemade, freshly made, and very crispy. The sauce was also very good. After almost two weeks on the trail, it was just what I needed!
Dominik — Google review
Great atmosphere, the Burgers and Mixed meet plates were delicious... Everything including Pattie size and meat serving can be ordered on your preferred weight which was bonus. Serve ice cream, soft drinks and beer as well. Definitely worth a visit.

Holy, I've never eat Moose or Raindeer meat and that was spectacular! The "mini" (which is wasn't mini at all!) Sub with meat, sauces and bacon costs 185 skr, truly a good price for how much I ate. Tables on tend were comfy, even If I stayed for a short time(was in hurry for the train) I've spent a good time. Staff was nice. Hope I'll come back someday in Kiruna, I'll give another shot for sure! (Sorry for the photo milady but that sentence on your back was WILD 😭💀)

The LKAB Visitor Centre offers a captivating three-hour underground excursion, delving 530 meters below the surface. The tour provides insights into both historical mining practices and future advancements. Visitors are treated to an informative presentation on the iron ore excavation process and its impact on daily life. The experience includes seeing machinery in its operational environment, offering valuable context. Guests praise the well-organized tour, regardless of their initial interest in mining or technology.
I can highly recommend the tour through the mining! We had such a great experience here. The guides were very friendly and professional and told us many interesting things about the mine. We had also a coffee and cookie break :-) I was really impressed by the efforts lkab is making to make an impact for the climate while they are experimenting in making carbon free pellets.
Kristina S — Google review
Liked: - The enthusiasm and knowledge of the guide, Britt. She made the whole experience immersive. - The mining process, the costing, the transportation, Kiruna's changing environment, the transformations ongoing in the mining sector, etc. were explained in a way that even a layman can understand. - The giant machines, and the miniature train models are a delight. - A museum that shows the mining of yesteryears. Can be improved: - They can charge a bit more if they need it but for Heaven's sake, increase the duration of the actual mine tour. It is quite a bit of information, and I had to run back and forth to catch up with the guide and take pictures of the machines. - Include more tours, each focused on a different experience e.g: the current tour is good for overview but a tour to see an actual mining (without disturbing their professional operations) can be included. - Have a souvenir shop which can include miniature models of the mines, the LKAB locomotive. Overall, it is a must-do activity if you are in Kiruna or nearby.
Omkar J — Google review
The tour was very well structured, tough and informative as we had a very good tour guide. Obviously she is very engaged in the ore mine. But more time is needed to take up all the information on the billboards. It's a pity to be rushed through the museum as it is a very nice one.
Rudolfo K — Google review
Tour guide was friendly and sufficiently competent but had no deeper knowledge and spoke a bit too fast sometimes, as if on automatic. But the mine itself is incredibly interesting and just a massive operation. Good that tour included bus ride to the mine with some views of the ongoing move of Kiruna town.
Kalle G — Google review
Really interesting tour - and there's coffee and biscuits! Great way to learn about the history and future of Kiruna, and how interlinked it is with the mine. Very knowledgeable tour guide and friendly energy amongst the guests.
Bea D — Google review
This is one of the most interesting tours I’ve ever been on. You don’t need to be interested in mining or even the advanced technology that is used in there to enjoy this very well-organized tour. Learning the facts from the guide about the production process and how the iron ore excavated in Kiruna impacts everyone’s everyday life is absolutely fascinating. And being able to see the machinery in the exakt environment they’re used gives some really great context. I can highly recommend this tour.
Joakim R — Google review
A guided tour of the iron ore mine in Kiruna. Pick up by bus & guide at the tourist information centre and then driven underground to level 520 below ground zero. In there received a fascinating presentation about the history of the mine, the current situation and the future of the mining industry, Kiruna old town relocation. Verbal, physical, visual presentations made this a great trip, would highly recommend. The tour guide was brilliant who had a good sense of humour. About a 3 hour trip with refreshments underground about 2/3 of the way around the tour.
Paul E — Google review
Overall, the tour was nice. It started with short bus ride to the mine. Basically it is to visit inactive site of the mine. I feel in the end it was a bit rush and we didn't take so much time to visit the museum as many visitors had questions during the tour which required quite an explanation from the guide. May be they should consider spare more times in the future as I saw many similar comments from others as well.

Mountain peak
Luossavaara, a 724-meter high peak in Kiruna, was once an iron ore mine and now serves as a popular spot for outdoor activities. Visitors can take the midnight sun trail to reach the summit and enjoy panoramic views of the city and surrounding hills. The hike is not too strenuous but offers a rewarding experience at the top. Additionally, Luossavaara provides skiing opportunities during winter. Recent construction work is underway to improve access to this picturesque location.
A great view of the city from the top of the mountain. For exact location to get to the top of the mountain use “V6GF+63”.

(Translated by Google) A bit difficult with all the small stones and steep hill up. Very nice view from the back over the mountains. However, you have to be lucky with the weather. On the front you see a panoramic image of the whole of Kiruna. They could have had a cafe or restaurant at the top. You can ride the lift up and down. The mountain feels like that in some way, I don't know that you could do much more here at the top. The back of the mountain and the view from there is 100 times nicer than the front. Kiruna in Swedish Lapland is a magical winter destination in Europe. The region was originally known as Sapmi and is home to the indigenous Sami people who have lived there for thousands of years. To experience their culture, you can visit Nutti Sami Siida, a village run by reindeer herders. In Kiruna, you can enjoy activities like dog sledding and try unique dishes like reindeer burger during specific seasons.
All city is under construction. Quite difficult to get around.

This city tour shows spectacular views, special architecture, high-quality art, and the process of moving our city center. 120 years ago mining started in the area. The plan was to build a modern Model Town, with good conditions for the inhabitants. Art, education, and new technology were crucial in the process, today we call it social sustainability. Can we rebuild a new Model Town, and how to attract new citizens? We will observe the church, and the old town, and visit our new town hall/art museum. Our local guide has given courses in sustainable city planning and regional history.

Omg! What a great experience at this place i had. I m a crazy snow lover, so I have to experience this place during winter. Did dog sled and created so beautiful memories ❤️ We tried reindeer burger too, which is only available during specific season. But its hard to get lucky to see northern lights but may be next time in summer we can plan for it 😀 But really for snow lover, must go place is this. But get really well prepare your warm clothes and advice to look temperature in advance before packing 😊

From Kiruna you have to travel to a small village called Abisko. Thats the Lapland you are looking for. Very calm place. Away from city lights. And home to some beautiful Northern Lights. Make sure you bring your best camera. And some food with you. You wont find plenty of places for food.
Sourav C — Google review
Interesting city because of its mining activities and the relocation of the whole city. I'm not sure whether such a quick and yet perhaps very radical renewal of the living situation isn't too quick for some people in the city. But friendly and interesting people and area.

Closed on weekends! Very frustrating if you arrive Friday afternoon on the train from Stockholm. So if you can't get in there for advice, don't make the same mistake I did: google maps has a lot of wrong bus info for Kiruna, and also note that the local bus (which costs money) is NOT the way to the station; there's a free bus but it doesn't appear in search results and doesn't post a timetable on its bus-stops. Very confusing.

Airport
Kiruna Airport is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the town center, offering three transportation options: car rental, taxi service, and a bus to town. As a small airport, waiting times are short and check-in procedures are quick and efficient. The airport features limited dining options but provides essential amenities such as clean restrooms and friendly staff. Despite its size, the airport operates smoothly with punctual bus services aligned with flight schedules.
For travelers coming to the airport by shuttle bus, you can download the schedule to view the bus stops. The timing coincides with the plane departure flights. Pay by credit card on board the bus. Kiruna Airport is very tiny with no counter for service, you print out your flight tickets and put the luggage in the auto bag drop. Importantly there is food and drinks available at the cafe after you clear the security checks.
Mervyn P — Google review
Smoothly running little airport that serves the vastest region of Sweden. Chick-in and luggage handling are now done by the passenger assisted by a single person.
Sebastian R — Google review
Small airport. Arrived in October so no snow yet. Walk off and collect baggage. 1 terminal in this airport. Try to get on bus or arrange taxi ahead of time. We thought we guaranteed taxi ahead but there was none so walked around and one showed up but maybe have a taxi number or WhatsApp just in case for arrival and getting around. Then taking a flight back to Stockholm, arrived, went through security and waited in the crowded small terminal. No issues just everyone waiting to get on the plane. Process was smooth, no concerns. Not sure how different it is in winter or summer in their more busy times. Overall no problems with this small airport.
Cynthia M — Google review
We flew the 9th of August from Kiruna Airport to Stockholm ARN. We fly with a service dog and the moment we stepped into the airport we were met with a really kind and helpful man asking us if we might need any help with what so ever. The security checks and self check-in for bags all were really easy, fast and comfortable! The staff is a blessing and really kind, seems like most of them enjoy their job over there! The moment boarding began we were met with the same person who helped us at the start, once again asking if we needed anything or any help at all. They really took their time for us and helped us wherever needed so I just wanted to say we've had a really positive experience and are really grateful for the staff who helped us that day!

LKAB, the mining company in Kiruna, operates the largest iron ore mines globally and has played a significant role in the city's development. The company is funding the relocation of the entire city due to ground instability caused by mining activities. Visitors can take a bus tour from the town center to explore the mines, gaining insights into Kiruna's history, demographics, socioeconomic status, and mining technologies. The tour includes a visit to a museum showcasing historical items related to the mine.
The best tour ever in Kiruna. Very well planned. Super guide. The bus picks you us close to Kiruna Tourist office in the centre of the town and leaves you back at the same place after the tour. Great explanation about the history, present and future of the mine. The museum inside is a great collection of old stuff in regards to the mine.

Well worth doing the tour of you're in Kiruna. You learn a lot about the history of the town, the importance of the industry as well as other interesting tidbits. Looking at the machinery and the museums was good too. You need to book via the tourist center in Kiruna and take the bus from there.
Celestine B — Google review
Very disappointing. The visit takes place on the side where the mine has not been in operation for decades. You see nothing of the workers, working conditions, lorries, and all the pollution generated on the other side of the mountain (which you can see clearly from the road coming from abisko). Everything is polished. The guide, who is very kind, spends dozens of minutes reciting all the good things LKAB is doing for the environment and for moving the whole town to be able to increase extraction still further. "All the residents are delighted". "The mine will soon have zero emissions"... In short, good "brain" and "green" washing. For 50 euros. And you leave with a small bag of iron balls, after having had "2" cookies (they are counted...). What is said in the mine is very different from what is said in the city. Still, it's interesting to find out.

Really cool place to visit. Such a weird feeling going with bus for so far down under the ground. Plus you have cell reception down there
Mathias L — Google review
The mine tour is pretty expensive for what you get. The underground visitor center does not really feel like a mine with perfect lighting, perfect air conditioning, etc. The exhibition of a bunch of posters, miniature trains and old machinery though well explained by the tour guide does not really convey the adventures of underground mining. You feel like you are very far away from the actual mining business and instead fed an outdated PR film about how green and efficient LKAB is operating - slow motion shots of manager handshakes - totally unfit for this kind of audience. Seeing the out-of-business mining trucks and drills up close and being able to sit in the drivers seat was the only highlight.

Went here about 4 years ago. This place is amazing as I have never been elsewhere to anything like it. You can simply get on & off the tour by bus from the tourist centre @ the town center, and it will go about 15-20 minutes deep inside the mountain to access the mines complex. The explanations on this mine explains the towns’ history, demography, socioeconomic status & mining technologies superficially. Overall very informative & enlightening. Not to forget the delicious refreshments provided at the end of the tour, simply marvelous. Worth the visit if you’re ever in town.

You have to book your tour through the kiruna website. The bus will pick you up from kiruna tourist center. The tour is almost two hours and worth it. You should learn a lot about the mine and the history of the kiruna city. You should try it.
George G — Google review
It was nice, you go down into the mine shafts in a bus from center of town, and you arrive at a closed off section in the mine which is for the tourists. However a lot seemed like a big commercial or sales pitch for LKAB. We watched a small movie in a cool theatere inside the mine, but was a lot about how good and effective, green, etc. a company they were, not so much about the process or what they did, could seem very fake and superficial, was like shareholders meeting. Big banners saying "LKAB - PERFORMANCE IN MINING" You walk 10 meters and stand still 20minuts listening to guide, i was expecting we could walk freely a little at some point, but we had to stick to group at all times. It makes sense since it is a company who runs it, but i just expected something else and more.

Absolutely fantastic and so incredibly relaxing! Indoor pool, outdoor tub, mineral sauna, steam sauna, a coffee face mask, a salt and iron ore food soak while sipping green tea and just letting the soul and body rest. Super friendly staff and all the facilities you need - towels, fluffy bath robes, haircare, skincare, hair driers etc. all available. I’m thinking about making this a weekly or bi-monthly habit now because its really worth it!

The spa also offer a selections of sweets, snacks, alcohol and non alcoholic drinks that you can pay additional and choose from . And in the end of your spa staying, the spa also gives you body scrub to take to shower with . Bathrobes and towels are available for guests upon arrival. My two days at the Aurora Spa were nothing short of extraordinary and remain a defining memory of my time in Kiruna. The welcome was graceful and attentive, with a particular note of praise for the German lady hosting the spa, whose professionalism, warmth, and natural elegance of service set the tone for an exceptional experience. The facilities reflect both purity and sophistication. The outdoor sauna, opening to the Arctic air, is a remarkable feature spacious, perfectly heated, and designed to embody the Nordic spirit of wellness. Adjacent to it, the smaller pool provided a refreshing balance, allowing moments of deep relaxation framed by the stillness of the surrounding landscape. Everything was immaculately maintained, conveying a sense of care. A further highlight was the possibility to enhance the ritual with sparkling wine accompanied by a platter of snacks. This thoughtful detail transformed the spa visit into a refined occasion rather than a simple wellness activity. The selection of cosmetics available was also impressive. The quality, rooted in natural ingredients, speaks for itself& on this occasion, I was pleased to bring several products home as a reminder of the experience. In its entirety, the Aurora Spa is a sanctuary of calm and refinement. It combines outstanding service with authentic Arctic character, offering guests not only relaxation but a true sense of place. A flawless experience that I recommend without hesitation.

(Translated by Google) Spectacular experience. I think a stop here is a must if you're passing through Kiruna. The treatment and service are exceptional, the location and its charm are wonderful. The facilities and the marked route... it was definitely an unforgettable experience. Everything included (several saunas, baths, treatments, etc.) is worth it for about €50. They give you plenty of masks, moisturizing oils, salts, and even crudités and water to drink. There's a bar where if you want something different you can pay for it separately (wine, a more substantial snack, etc.) while you relax and enjoy the views. The products they provide and use are excellent. We went during the day, but we planned for sunset while we were there for the views, and it was incredible because we experienced part of the day, part of the sunset, and part of the night. A cold bath was available outside for the bravest, and a hot one to catch your breath. Recommended route and treatments. Exquisite service. There are showers, a hairdryer, and everything you need to change in the locker room. They provide a towel and bathrobe, and a locker to store your belongings. You can rent a swimsuit if you don't have one or forgot it. We loved the scrub salts (peeling salts) and asked if they were available to buy. The lady gave us a plastic cup filled to the brim... a really nice touch! Highly recommended, it's totally worth it, and we would definitely go back! (Original) Experiencia espectacular. Puedes alquilar bañador si no llevas o te lo has olvidado.

Midnattssolstigen is a nature trail in Kiruna that offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views, making it suitable for beginners. It's advisable to dress warmly and wear sturdy hiking shoes while carrying water. The stunning views from the top are best experienced during the late evening in July, allowing visitors to witness the last sunset from the mountain peak. Despite some challenges like windy conditions and snow-covered paths in winter, this trail is a must-see during summer.
Walked this trail on the very first night of my stay in Kiruna. The weather conditions were perfect with a bit of wind but super sunny and 2 degrees. The views on this trail are absolutely breathtaking. If you go to Kiruna in summer this trail is a must-see. I loved it so much that I walked the trail two nights in a row around midnight. 😍

Breathe taking views with 360degree Panoramic views. The trail is suitable for begineers who would love to experience the nature trail. Would suggest to pack good clothing as its super windy up there on top. A good hiking shoes, bottle of water is a must to carry on this trail. The views from the top is just stunning. Do hike up in the late evening during the month of July to experience the last sunset from the top of the mountain. I would definately would love to come here and check out the winter ski. Watching out the Aurora would be cool I guess too. Can't wait to visit this place again in different season.

No snow yet so we went for a Summer Training Run. We had a great time, the dogs are so excited and happy ! After the training we were invited to drink a tea or coffee and eat a swedish pastry inside a cozy hut with a fireplace. We then got to meet the 8 weeks old puppies to end our visit in the best way possible ! Super recommended !

First of all a thank you to our guide Nynke for taking us on this 2.5/3hrs trip. Truly remarkable adventure. Sledding through the snow with the Alaskan huskies is amazing. You feel in another world! Everything was also very well organized by Kiruna Sleddog Tours. If you have a car, place is easy to find. They also provide pick up services if required. During the sledding you have opportunity to guide the dogs yourself or you will be sitting on the sledge to enjoy the views and take pictures / videos. Half way you stop at a tipi for lunch - we had a red lentil soup - perfect). Even if you are not the biggest fan of dogs, do this. You really miss you if you don’t do this when staying above the polar circle. The dogs are very calm and just want to run and pull you :-) We also went to see four of their puppies. So cute!

Undoubtedly the highlight of our stay in the North. We were provided with warm clothing and relished every moment alongside the friendly guides and dogs! It was a tranquil and enchanting journey through the majestic Northern scenery. We were lucky enough to encounter a day of unyielding sunshine, yet we're convinced this experience would captivate in any weather. We even got to cuddle with the puppies post-tour, which was a delightful bonus! Highly highly recommended!

Our experience in Kiruna was truly memorable. The guides were not only marvelous but incredibly experienced, making our adventure unforgettable. The husky were so friendly felt like adopting them. After the dog sled we also met the puppies and played with them. They enjoyed chewing my mittens. The dog sled tour itself was amazing giving us the first time arctic experience. Though our luck was not top notch as we had to cut short our tour due to snow storm but could enjoy that as well. We relished several hours immersed in the breathtaking beauty of nature. It's a fantastic option for families with kids, providing a wholesome experience.

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish, my husband and I and 2 children had the best time, we were greeted very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble even picking us up from our hotel. When we arrived we met the dogs who were so friendly, was given really warm clothing x My husband took the husky ride while we rode the snow mobiles, just wow! We then met up to a teepee with a welcoming fire and had coffee/tea and a very tasty piece of cake before swopping over and us taking the husky ride back which was just perfect, so quiet, serene, beautiful landscape in the snow and the dogs were amazing! Would 100% recommend this experience to everyone ❤️

Amazing experience with our Norwegian musher, Kari (hope I spelled it correctly). Playing with the dogs is such a moral booster and we had a blast. Husky Lodge offers a unique experience with its Arctic domes providing cozy accommodation, complete with a diesel fuel oven for warmth and a transparent roof for stargazing. The sled dog tour in the evening is highly recommended, offering an unforgettable adventure through the winter landscape led by experienced guides and their energetic dogs. The lodge itself exudes coziness, with rooms named after previous dogs and communal living spaces featuring fireplaces and TVs.
This place for me is a definite yes! The lodge itself is very cozy, perfect for a winter break. A nice thing to add is that the rooms are named after their previous dogs. Me and my family sat in the room “Alamo”, which was very cozy with one double bed and one single bed. There are two living rooms, one with a tv and one with a fireplace. For breakfast you have some good options, yet you can anytime bring your own. Clients have a fridge to store any items, while the staff have a separate one. The dogs are free to visit whenever, though to enter a kennel you need a staff member. I must warn you! You need to book an event from them before hand, so you don’t make the same mistake as us. For any ski lovers, there is a slope a few minutes away. If you want, there’s an app we used, “Aurora”, which tells you where the Aurora is right now, and gives you a notification when it’s the best time to see it, if it’s not cloudy, or snowing. In conclusion, we will come again next year!
Cristina S — Google review
Overall we enjoyed our time at the Husky Lodge. As others have said, it is very much a hostel style accommodation with shared facilities. If this is up your alley you will enjoy it. For the sled ride, I recommend going during the day, as at night it can be very dark with only the headlamp of the rider to see anything. And I’ll note that the speed of the ride is more of a slow trot. One thing to note, we did find the towels to be very threadbare and scratchy, so if this is important to you I recommend you bring your own.
Rachel P — Google review
We have recently stayed a week at the husky lodge, thanks to the great care of the husky lodge team it was an experience we will no forget anytime soon. We had an awesome time! If you go there make sure to take a dogsleding tour is this is also an exprience that you will not forget. In my opinion the negative reviews that people have left are mainly because their expectation does not match with the lodge. Don't expect a five star hotel but expect to share a kitchen and bathroom with other people. If you can value this then the husky lodge is your thing!
Timo R — Google review
The dogs were super cute. Gös and his team were very professional in handling the dogs. The house is very clean and cosy with the decorations, and toilet was a big space. Room and house heaters are adjustable. The kitchen helps since the place is far off from the town and you can store your meals in it. Cooking essentials are available in the kitchen. Breakfast spread had many juices, yogurt, cereal, bread. you can make your own sandwich and boil eggs. Location is a little far off, so difficult to get to unless you have a car.

We would like to thank Johnathan, Amber, Byron and Suna for their wonderful hospitality. There are many options, both in terms of rooms and activities, to explore at this unique hotel. We have taken part in dogsledding and snowmobiling activities. Our snowmobile tour has fortunately provided some glimpses of the northern lights.

Me and my wife stayed for 1 night at the husky lodge in kiruna. The lodge does not deserve to be in hospitality business and if they would have been in USA someone would have definitely sued them for the pathetic service and shut them down. I understand that there was alot of snow however, if you are running a business clean the road a bit so people can drive. The road leading up to the lodge was not clean and the car was skidding alot. The so called parking lot had atleast 4 inches of ice which was not cleaned for cars to park. We had booked the artic dome and the road leading up to the dorm was full with ice above ankle length. Besides there was no light leading up to the dorm. The quality of the linens provided was was so pathetic, I would not use similar linen to mop even my bathrooms. The blankets provided smelled bad and had stains. Not sure when they were last washed. The quality of pillow was such that you could fold it into a ball and fit it in your palm. The towel provided for bathing was so hard and rough it needed to be in the dustbin and not on someone's bed. The dorms did not have drinking water, no locks on the door(one needs to sleep in the middle of woods, no lights at all, with an unlocked door) no restrooms or wifi. We had a previous stay at the Riverview Glass Igloos which had provided us all the above facilities including breakfast. The lodge has a common area for washroom, kitchen and hall to sit. The way leading up to the common area had ice and was slippery. I had a fall and hurt my knee. On letting them know about it they said we should be careful while walking. There was no one on the front desk at any time and no one to help you with any thing you may need. If you are charging such an exorbitant price provide the valuable service. Not sure how such business are being allowed to run. Never recommending the lodge to anyone nor rebooking them again.
Vaibhav R — Google review
We stayed here for one night from December 26th to December 27th in one of the Arctic domes. The accommodation is brilliant with an diesel fuel oven providing a fireplace atmosphere and a transparent roof and side of the dome. With -15 degrees outside the place was cozy and comfy and a real experience of its kind. We booked a sled dog tour for the evening which was also a very nice experience, helping the sledge to get ready and having a tour through the dark with our brilliant leader and her 8 dogs. I can really recommend the place for an extraordinary experience still in a more small scale family business like setting. So don’t expect all the comfort of the big hotel chains but be ready for a unique and romantic experience.

One of the best experiences I've ever had We spent 2 weeks in February at the kiruna husky lodge. From the first minute we felt very welcome and integrated by the hosts Sebastian and Chiara and the staff Lea and Peter who were so kind and caring. We have experienced the dog sled tour during the day and at night with the Northern Lights. This was an extraordinary experience to feel the power of the dogs, the cold and the nature. The dogs are very nice and tame. We experienced the iglos and slept in it, which was also very impressive. So we highly recommend a stay there same days!

Luossajärvi, situated near Luossavaara mountain, is a picturesque lake spanning just over 1 square km. In winter, the entire lake freezes over, allowing the local Sami community to traverse it on sleighs. It's an ideal spot for grilling and socializing, with opportunities for swimming as well.
We rented a beautiful little log cabin just off the frozen lake (Luossajärvun) so we could rent a snow mobile and go exploring and also simply walk across the lake for a visit to the famous Ice Hotel and their Ice Bar!

(Translated by Google) I think it's a beautiful place and a good barbecue area. Unfortunately, there is a negative review on the cleanliness of the place, which unfortunately was recently nicely renovated. And that no one has removed all the debris and metal in the water. If they would make it more accessible to get out towards the headland, where I love to sit and look out, it would be wonderful. Handicap friendly otherwise, just a pity about all the complaints about the little things. Like having to destroy and mess up various things and the fireplace and the shelters should be a little bigger in terms of roof so wind and protection would be a little better. But regardless, love the place, but can be developed. Great memories from the past! If you're looking for a quintessential pub experience, the Bishops Arms is a must-visit in Kiruna. This cozy British-style establishment offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its hearty menu. Guests rave about classic dishes like fish & chips and burgers, which are served promptly and hit the spot without being overly fancy—just good, satisfying comfort food.

Friendly service. However food wasn’t great. The sausages for bangers and mash were like regular sausages in Sweden and that doesn’t go very well for bangers and mash. Only got a tiny bit of mashed potato - which was very thin purée rather than actual proper mash however I don’t mind that but the amount was so little. If you ever had bangers and mash before you’d be very dissapointed here. Fish and chips - fish was good but they used string fries instead of chunky fries which again is a bit disappointing. If you wanna run a British menu you should at least try do it authentic.

(Translated by Google) The service was a bit chaotic, no one greeted us when we came in, but it felt like everyone working there did everything they could to avoid eye contact. Finally, one of the staff gave in and we got a table. There were a lot of staff but the only one who seemed to actually work was our waitress. The food tasted ok, I had a breaded chicken (only half a chicken breast!) with lukewarm potato salad (it only consisted of boiled potatoes and a lot of capers which was not entirely successful) the price is very high for so little food. The menu sounds good on paper but unfortunately does not live up to it in reality.

Both were served quickly and tasted perfectly fine – not a culinary highlight, but exactly what you'd expect from a classic pub: down-to-earth, filling, and delicious. The atmosphere is pleasant and authentic, and the bar definitely piques your interest with its huge selection of whiskeys and beers – unfortunately, we didn't get to try any of them this time, but it's probably worth coming back for. Overall, a solid 4 out of 5 experience and definitely recommended if you're in the mood for pub food in a stylish, relaxed setting while in Kiruna.

Kiruna Kyrka stands as a striking symbol of the town's rich heritage and its significant transition to the east. Constructed in 1913 by the LKAB Mining Company, this architectural marvel is designed to mimic a traditional Sami goahti, or tent cot, making it one of Sweden's largest wooden structures. While currently fenced off and not accessible for close visits, you can still admire its beauty from the nearby cemetery.

Jukkasjärvi church, dating back to 1726 with some original parts from 1607, is a beautiful red-colored timber building with a stand-alone bell tower. It features a special timber construction that is the only one preserved in the country. The interior is adorned with unique colors typical of the Sami culture.
Nice small church with interesting painting . Perfect place to have your quiet time with your creator.

A small church at the end of the road. It was so freezing that we could not enter. Free to enter as well.

A beautiful church in Jukkasjarvi. This is the last stop on the Kiruna - Jukkasjarvi bus route, and an ideal starting point for your Jukkasjarvi exploration. Start at the church, walk down to the Sami Siida adjacent to the property, then walk down to the ice hotel, and take the bus back to kiruna.

Beautiful from the inside and the outside. The inside is very special, I have never seen a church like this before. The colours which are used for the furniture and pictures are the colours which are typical for the Sami.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Three Country Cairn, located at the meeting point of Norway, Sweden, and Finland, is a significant symbol of unity among nations. This unassuming stone monument marks the spot where you can freely walk from one country to another. The trek to reach this cairn involves a three-hour drive along the Finnish border and a 26km hike through diverse terrains, offering scenic views typical of each country. The well-marked trails make it easy to navigate through the stunning landscapes.
Breath-taking journey from Kilpisjärvi to the spot where the three northern Kingdoms unite! A definite must-see, something very special reminding us of the history and bond between our neighbouring countries ❤️
Iines P — Google review
It's been my dream to visit the cairn. This is where borders of Norway, Sweden, and Finland meet. The wonder of being in three countries at once is memorable in itself. Recommend either visiting in spring or just before onset of winter. Starting from Kilpisjärvi, Finland, the hike alone is worth it with the splendid views and scenic nature all around. I'd recommend bringing plenty of water and snacks to enjoy the nature here as one would have no idea how the hours just slipped by also do carry your first aid kit.
Vikrant C — Google review
Treriksröset, the “three-country cairn,” marks where Sweden, Norway, and Finland meet. The area is surrounded by beautiful nature, and the cairn itself sits on Lake Golddajávri, connected by a short 10-meter metal walkway. Nearby, on the Finnish side, you’ll find two huts – one of them free to stay in overnight, no booking needed. There are several hiking trails, some quite demanding. Keep in mind that camping isn’t allowed in much of the Finnish side (north-east), as it’s a nature reserve, but it seems fine on the Swedish side. And if you’re visiting in the warmer months – don’t forget mosquito repellent!
Albert K — Google review
Really nice place and views along the trail are awesome. Hike is about 12 kilometers on one way, so you should be really well prepared for this hike.
Ville A — Google review
A very nice and short hike to your place, about a 30-minute walk if you take the boat. If it has rained, boots can be good but not necessary, and mosquito repellent is recommended.
Anders N — Google review
Stunning location to visit all three counties at the same time. Norway, Sweden and Finland borders. Temperatures extremely cold on our snowmobile visit -30 🥶 We used kilpisjarvi safari and went as a group of over 20 people. Well organised trip with all your gear provided. Be sure to have hand and toe warmers. Also, thermals are a must !
Kim S — Google review
FINOSE: Finland on left foreground, Sweden on the left background and Norway the (almost) whole right part of the pic. If you are mad about countries borders and where three of them meet AND you happen to find yourself in this area: this is a very good, nice and easy one to get! The cairn is just a round block of cement yellow painted with the marks of the countries, but the area around is also a beautiful example and mix of the kind of nature this part of the world is made. TO GET THERE: I had two options. One is - I was told - 6 hours 15km almost flat but very long trail from the latest parking area on the Norway side just before the border or after it from another trail starting point. The second in the summer - that I took - getting close via a boat service from 69.047326, 20.794309 (Kilpisjärvi). With the boat ticket, the crew gives you some explanation of the area, you get a nice view from the lake and, most important, the walking part is then less than an hour, less than 4 km on a flat path anyone, even unfit like me, can make. You are given about 2 hours once the boat get to the endpoint, before it sails again back to Kilpisjärvi. In the period I visit it (June 2024) there were only two timing: at 10 and 15 (Don't forget the CEST-EEST time change if coming from Norway!). You want to show up some few minutes in advance just to get in line to board. Card payment was possible on board. The boat won't sail if there aren't at least 5 persons. It was Sunday afternoon when I got there. The receptionist of my camping told me that more or less they always run, there was never too few passengers nor a too crowded moment in that. If you want to mix the options there is also a one-way ticket. Look for Mallalaiva website "three-country-cairn". I was lucky the day was little dry, but the ground can get muddy and wet, so you'd better not to risk going there with just flip flops. Also in some period flies and mosquitos are the real problem. I was advised to buy a head-mosquito-net. Didn't need that day, but long sleeves and keeping my mouth shut helped a lot.

A bit small but a great place for learning about Esrange
Witext — Google review
It is a tiny exhibition with brief information about Esrange, their past and ongoing projects. I thought that the plastic balloons ended with the Cold War Era but was surprised to learn that those are still used. They should sell some souvenirs at the reception. While it is an engaging experience for an hour or so, the drive is relatively long. I suggest visiting it post-lunch, then visit the ice hotel on the way back to Kiruna.
Omkar J — Google review
It's so small you can see it on literally one picture... I didn't find the information interesting as others. Here in Kiruna you desperately want ANYTHING to do, bonus if it's free, drivable /walkable, still not worth it in my opinion. The video is well made tho! 👌

History Museums
Hjalmar Lundbohmsgården is a charming museum located in the former office and residence of Hjalmar Lundbohm, who played a pivotal role as the first manager of LKAB in shaping the city of Kiruna. The museum offers a glimpse into the early history of the city, showcasing artifacts and exhibits related to the establishment of LKAB and the development of the Kiruna-Narvik railroad.
Visited not a hotel but like a museum of HLBM foundation.
Masa S — Google review
The Hjalmar Lundbohm estate was built for the first CEO of the mining company LKAB between 1895 and 1909. It was moved to Luossavaara in sections to allow for the expansion of the mine in 2017. It is now administered by an association and serves as a museum and a café with possibilities to organize larger festivities. It's interesting to see how simply one of the more powerful men of its time lived.

This is one of about 2 things to see in/around Old Kiruna. It’s interesting to visit if you’re killing time. But to provide some context to all the reviews calling it “the best fikka in Kiruna”…. it’s really the only fikka in Kiruna…. all of the restaurants in town are either pizza, burgers, or Thai. This place offers limited toasts, belgian waffles, and salads, with self-serve pots of coffee.
Hayley — Google review
Simple but good and affordable food. Don’t expect a cozy atmosphere, but it is cool to eat in such an historic atmosphere
Mick P — Google review
As a tourist was a little confusing upon entering. Most of the house is just open for you to wander and explore, like a museum. There is a small cafe. We had a reservation but rather than guide you to a table you are told to just find your table, we just picked one with a reserved sign. The menu is small but very good. The waffle was incredible. We had time between checking out of our hotel and our train. This was q perfect spot to relax, enjoy fika before our train.
Tricia B — Google review
We had coffee and some cake. Its kind off high price, but the scenery and quality of the cake was top notch.
Dan O — Google review
Beautiful location! Very calm, wasn't busy att all. Nice stuff, lovely food. Thanks!
Alexandra S — Google review
It shouldn't surprise anyone that this place is as good as their former café sand restaurant. We tried the three sandwiches they had on the menu and they were all absolutely great. You can tell there's pride, heart and thought behind the dishes and that's all that matters. Food wise it's 5/5, rest assured. So why 4/5? The menu is a bit limitied but that might change given time. The old building is beautiful and charming albeit a bit tight and it's situated at the outskirts of town which logistically isn't great.

Konstmuseet i Norr is an avant-garde art gallery situated in the recently developed downtown area of Kiruna. It offers complimentary internet access and boasts impeccably maintained restrooms.
A must see while in Kiruna. The displays are beautiful and show a great deal of Kiruna's culture centered around their economic development. Lots of places to rest on the different floors and free of charge.

Off path a bit.. this town is the most populated town in Sweden after crossing from Narvik Norway. Why? Because the railroad takes you to the most scenic route similar to the Artic train but because it is a local train it cost only $32 vs $230 for the tourist train.

It is nice to have an art gallery in a city hall, but the museum is closed (or quite limited as there is in fact one room with pictures and information about Kiruna and surrounding towns). The building has a very modern look inside and out.
Évelyne S — Google review
If you're in Kiruna and look for a warm place to "kill" a few minutes, this new building is great. But the museum was very small and the exhibition not that interesting. 15 minutes was plenty to visit everything. I would have expected a permanent expo on the city/the mine/the moving of the city (which is facinating and unique!) rather than some Swiss artefacts. Staff was not that helpful either.

Very remote national park. It takes 10km one way to get there from car parking. But it’s so worth it. Loved the hike. Nature is very beautiful. It’s very wet good boats recommended. There is lots of spot to put up tent. Really enjoyed remote location. Recommend to take mosquitoes repellent with you. Hike it self I would rate easy it gets more challenging if you want to do it in one day. I staying overnight and exploring national park on day 2 and got back great experience.

Quite a scenic hike to the national park. Amazing views of the mountain range all along the hike. Within the national park, you don’t have any marked trails so be sure to carry a map and compass. Also be ready to wade through water to get into the actual part of the park. From the outer boundary, you can climb the hill after the suspension bridge to get an amazing view of the river delta.

(Translated by Google) If you want to hike alone, Vadvetjåkka is the best. You rarely meet people who hike that trail, most of them go to Trollsjön. Fairly easy hiking all the way before you reach Vadvetjåkka's bridge, if you want to get into the NP itself you have to be prepared to get a little wet. Running streams with water are found a little here and there, the first is at the parking lot, then it becomes the first when you place the cabin. An old copper mine from the 19th century can be seen on the road. Bring a fishing rod and fishing card if you want to fish.
