Volcano
Nature & Parks
Mount Teide is an active volcano and Spain's highest peak, reaching 3,718m. The park surrounding it offers a scenic aerial cable car and various hiking trails. The area is a paradise for geologists and nature enthusiasts alike, featuring the snoozing giant volcano of Mount Teide with its hardened lava flows, as well as peculiar rock formations and an otherworldly landscape.
Awesome. But to get to the peak, you need a separate permit. The website that sell cabin tickets offer the tour to the peak for 140 eur. This is a scam as the permit is totally free of charge but must to be booked upfront on the government website. One day is not enough to explore the whole park + observatory.
Andrey L — Google review
Close to 12k feet high, the volcano is amazing-its a bit rocky at the top of the mountain and I did feel a bit light headed due to the altitude but worth the experience!
Gabriela A — Google review
This place feels like it's not of this world! You will truly be impressed by the natural and unique beauty of this place because it's certainly not like anywhere else you have visited! I would recommend a guided tour where you can not only learn about the history of this magical area because there is a lot to learn and a lot to enjoy.
Charlie W — Google review
This experiance is absolutly complicated. You need a permit to go up to the highest point. You get a slot and it's neccesery to book months in advance. You need a ticket for the cable car with a time slot. The cable car is often not working because of wind and booked out in advance. If you book the permit for the hike it's usually not possible to book the cable car. So it's neccesery to remember and book the cable car later. It's only allowed to stay 1 h at the top. So if you don't get the right slot for the cable car, you can't go up :) And then we got an email 1 day before our departure that we need another permit to hike down. And u imagine it already: the permit has a time slot and is booked out in advance often. Ah and you need to be prepared with blankets, headlight and so on (that is ok, if there would be an information in the booking process). Three websites, two permits and no information. Especially about the new permit to hike up and down. It's a shame. I think they just wanna sell the expensive guided tours. Ah and there is a status on the website about the cable car and the hike routes. But no information why something is open or closed. The hike routes were displayed all closed on the website, but in reality everything was open. Good that we tried it. At the end we did our two hikes and it was absolutly awesome. But be prepared and book everything in advance. But be warned: if one route or the cable car is closed, you can't do that experiance because there is no possibility to change or get the permits. 5 stars for the experiance and 0 for the process and information.

El Teide Viewpoint: A Must-See Experience! This trip up the El Teide cable car was an absolutely incredible experience! The views from the top are breathtaking and truly unforgettable. I highly recommend visiting this iconic landmark. 🧣 Essential Tips for November Visitors Be prepared for the cold! We visited in November, and you absolutely must dress warmly in layers. The temperature at the summit is near freezing (around 0^\circ\text{C}), and it is extremely windy. Proper attire, including a hat and gloves, is essential for comfort. ✅ Practical Information & Organization The cable car operation is very well organized. Even with a crowd, the staff manages the queues efficiently. The entire team is incredibly helpful and friendly, making the whole process smooth. Crucial Advice: You must buy your tickets online in advance! They sell out very quickly, and you don't want to risk missing out. Once you are at the viewpoint, you have about one hour to take in the spectacular panorama and capture some truly stunning photos. ⚠️ Safety Note Please be aware that due to the high altitude, this trip is not recommended for pregnant women, people with heart problems, or children under the age of three. 🚻 Amenities There are free restrooms available at the top station, as well as a vending machine offering both hot and cold drinks.

Visiting Teide Volcano is truly an unforgettable experience! Being above the clouds gives you a surreal feeling, as if you're standing on top of the world. The drive up is just as amazing, winding through layers of clouds and breathtaking landscapes that make the journey part of the adventure. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, with panoramic sights that are perfect for photography and simply soaking in the natural beauty. The only downside is that it can get very crowded, especially during peak hours, and finding parking can be quite challenging. Despite this, the experience is well worth it and is a must-see if you're visiting Tenerife. 🌋✨️
Sladjana M — Google review
The most magical place on the island! Stunning panoramic views. The cable car reaches the top quickly, but it is crowded. Wear comfortable and appropriate shoes, and also make sure to buy your ticket in advance. Even the drive up to the cable car station is an experience in itself. There are parking spaces, but it’s best to be there about 40 minutes before your reserved time slot. We visited in mid-October and it wasn't cold. It is definitely worth it, especially if you haven't been at such a high altitude before.
Galin M — Google review
For such breathtaking view of a sunrise the climb to the top is definetely worth the effort. We walked PNT7 which leads from to the upper cable car station and then PNT10 to the summit. It took us almost 12 hours to get to the top and back to the car, we had very slow pace and we had 1 hour break due to weather - around 2,7km of elevation the cold really got to us, don’t underestimate your clothes, windresistance layer especialy. For each route you need separate permits, rangers were checking them.

Island
Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, is a stunning volcanic destination renowned for its beautiful beaches, vibrant resorts, and lively nightlife. The island offers a variety of attractions including family theme parks such as Aqualandia and Mundomar. For those seeking watery fun without kids, Ibiza or the Costa Calida in Murcia are recommended.
Plenty of things to do, the views are stunning and the weather is great! Food is amazing and you can find a lot from German food to Japanese sushi. Perfect for both, hiking and adventures or just recharging the batteries on the beach.
Balázs B — Google review
It’s a very fun country! There’s a lot to do and the hotels are really great, me and my family went there a few months ago and we brought a lot of great stuff!
Stellau C — Google review
The island is beautiful. I am a mountain lover, so I like the volcano, the mountains, and the forests around it. But I have to take one star away because the roads and viewpoints are messy. There is a lot of trash along the roads. I was very unhappy about that. And what is really sad is that the tourists are the ones who make this mess

We were on RCCL Explorer OTS TA 2025 and stopped in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. It was one of the best stops. The town is beautiful. It is a fairly easy walk from the port terminal. We stopped at the Parish dedicated to St. Francis de Asisi and it was a spiritual and tranquil rest stop. We then walked around and checked out the local central town area and enjoyed the sights. The drinks and foods are definitely worth it. Gelato is great. We then headed to the Parque Garcia Sanabria which is one of the best gardens we have visited. It was free and very large and had a variety of art and sculptures. The flowers were beautiful. Definitely a must visit. Tenerife is a place to visit for a week or more to Enjoy fully.

Great vacation spot with lots of Europeans coming here for years and years. It has all the things you want from blue sand beaches and clubs to the highest mountain in the Canary Islands! They also have a wonderful zoo, Loro Parque. So plenty to do while on vacation here!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my holiday here and would highly recommend this beautiful island to anyone. The scenery, activities, and overall experience were fantastic.
Ahmad N — Google review
Been here for several holidays. It’s hot, sunny and dry most of the year - hence the attraction for European tourists. The south coast is crowded and popular but do visit the Teide National Park and the west coast for its unusual landscapes, history and culture.

Pico Viejo, also known as Old Peak, is a captivating volcano in Teide National Park. While it may not be as popular as its counterpart, Pico del Teide, it offers an equally mesmerizing experience for hikers without the need for a permit. The 3135m-high volcano last erupted in 1798 and boasts a Martian-like landscape that is best experienced in the tranquility of the morning.
To get there one way is to start in parking lot Mirador de la ruleta (it's crowded so either be early or be patient :) a lot of people come only for mirador so it's like 30min rotation for them). Hike both ways is about 14 km (can be extended to 17 if you decide to go back next to LA cathedral) with 1000m attitude gain. It's about 4-5hr long (there and back), doest not require permit. Path is marked on the way with metal plates and quite easy visible where it goes. There are no hard climbing parts, just constant attitude gain, both hard rocks and gravel. easy hike, the only difficulty might be distance. No shops or restaurants on the way ( last one is in parking lot). Make sure to get water, stay hydrated, and bring jacket or hoodie, after 75% way it starts to get windy and really chilly, no mater how hot it is at the beginning.

Amazing Crater. Hiked up via route 23 that starts near visitor centre. Then continued via route 9 to the top of teleferico
Joris ( — Google review
hell of a climb from the Nostrils viewpoint. Hard and long. Start early and watch out for altitude sickness. Got me near the top. Fine once I descended a bit. Amazing crater!!
MIchael S — Google review
To reach the summit you need to traverse 3 routes, 3, 23 and part of 9. I started hiking the route from the Visitor centre after getting off the 342 bus at 11am. It’s a challenging hike, considering the altitude. Thee are very few flat or downhill sections and there is a tricky big rocks section near the top. I didn’t go around the crater ridge as I was short on time to get back down for the 4pm bus back to Los Cristianos. It took me just under 5 hours including a 15 minute break at the top (I ran about 10% of the route back down). The views of the crater, Teide and surrounding area were well worth the effort.
Steven W — Google review
The whole track and the path are really cool. When you get a nice weather you will see incredible view of Mt. Teide and around. Be good prepared, the path is quite dusty and long. I went from parking Mirador de Samara to the top and back, almost 20km. Don’t forget high shoes, definitely a hat because the sun is very strong, warm clothes and the most important thing-plenty of water. Rather more than less!
Jakub “ — Google review
Amazing! Did a hike from Mirador del Narice del Teide on trail 9 and came back on trail 28. It was nice, go for it if you have one day blocked for it!
Oana C — Google review
This is a tough but doable climb - if you come prepared almost anyone can do it. We did our climb on our own walking from the information center to the peak in about 9-10hrs but we started late and came down at night using our phones for light. I would recommend going up early but the walk down at night and the sunset at the peak is a wonderful experience. The path is very well marked so you won't get lost. Few walk up, most are coming down after the cable car but the march to the top is very rewarding.
CJSky — Google review
Absolutely lovely hike from Teide (we got up with cable car) to Pico Viejio and down. Be noted that paths are quite rough and should be crossed only with proper hiking shoes and a wind jacket. We have visited the place in end of June and wind jacket and sun hat is a must as the temperatures drop massively at 3km height. Hike itself on a slow pace took good 6 hours, so prepare enough water as well as food to last through. The views made this hike more that we could have hoped for and is clearly a highlight in Tenerife

The Teide Observatory, located in Tenerife, is home to some of the world's top solar telescopes. Situated amidst the stunning Roques de Garcia, a collection of volcanic rocks shaped by erosion, it offers a unique setting for studying light. The observatory's white domes stand out against the vibrant blue sky and host crucial astrophysical and meteorological research with international collaboration.
Beautiful experience!! Our guide (English group) was excellent and we enjoyed our full 1h30 tour without even noticing how the time flew so fast! We understood the importance of Tenerife to the world of astronomy and we had the opportunity to observe the solar activity and to see a telescope from so close. Totally recommended, thank you so much 🙏
MARIA K — Google review
A really interesting visit and lots of information about the site, telescopes and science. The site is hilly, and there's lots of walking on crushed lava so wear good shoes.
Mark M — Google review
Very cool tour about 1.30hrs but if you’re not interested in telescopes I’d say it might be a bit boring for you. Very well informed guides who are happy to answer questions even with the language barrier. Wear comfortable closed toe shoes, bring water, sunscreen and sunglasses! Lots of great views from the site but there’s a viewpoint on the road up to the observatory that you can get similar pictures of Mt Teide.
Kenny C — Google review
Very nice excursion, the guide was top notch, the place itself has incredibly beautiful views and with the guide's explanations, the existence of telescopes and their necessity in Tenerife is much clearer. Thank you very much for this opportunity!
Genno P — Google review
The Observatory Tour was great. Our guide Adriano did a very good job, he was able to convey the content in a catching and interesting way. Also the tour itself offered many mindblowing facts about the sun and universe. 4 stars because it would have been nice to see GREGOR telescope from inside and the goodie store was way too expensive.
Natalie S — Google review
Amazing!! We had to book the spanish tour cause the english one was sold out, but our guide was fantastic! He explained everything very well, usino clear vocabolary and talking slower for us to understand. The visit was very intersting and we had the chance to see the sun through a telescope. 100% recommend. Also, they provide sun screening umbrellas, but make sure to have a hat and sunglasses too, cause it's very bright up there, as well as water.

We were on a long cruise and one stop was Santa Cruz. We booked a tour up to Teide Mountain for the afternoon. On the drive up the mountain, the guide proudly pointed out the white buildings up on the mountain as the famous observatory of The Canary Islands. Our tour did not visit there but maybe on another trip.
THE E — Google review
We went on the 21€ each drive yourself up there trip with 'Get Your Guide' and all worked out fairly well. Our guide's English was not very good, so unfortunately we missed a lot of the information she was trying to give about the place etc. Seeing the sun spots and sun flares through a couple of refraction telescopes at the end was good.

Loro Park, located in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, is a beautifully landscaped zoo that offers an impressive variety of animal attractions. The park is renowned for its extensive collection of parrots and hosts classic shows featuring these colorful birds. Additionally, visitors can enjoy dolphin shows and witness the majesty of killer whales in action.
I recently had the chance to visit Loro Parque in Tenerife, and I have to say—it completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this wasn’t just another zoo; it’s a beautifully maintained, world-class conservation park that truly cares about the animals and the visitor experience. It’s absolutely worth arriving right when the park opens. The early hours are quieter, cooler, and give you a head start on the most popular attractions and shows before the crowds arrive. We managed to enjoy a peaceful stroll through the park and even caught the first show of the day with no lines.
Anita J — Google review
Amazing Day at Loro Parque! Loro Parque is absolutely incredible – a must-visit! There’s so much to see and do, and the animals are clearly very well cared for. The enclosures are spacious, beautifully designed, and give you great views without ever feeling overcrowded for the animals. Everything felt clean, organised, and really well maintained. The dolphin and orca shows were a real highlight – absolutely amazing and definitely a must-see while you’re there. They were professional, fun, and showed off the animals’ intelligence and beauty in such a memorable way. There’s plenty to keep you entertained all day, from the variety of animals to the shows and the little details around the park that make it special. The only downside is that food on site is a bit pricey – but that’s the same in most attractions and didn’t take away from how fantastic the experience was. Overall, a beautiful park, well worth the visit, and somewhere I’d happily return to again!
Adrianna B — Google review
Got tickets online earlier as they're discounted, easy to park in their nice underground car park (7 euro). Well worth a visit, clean, accessible, plenty of clean toilets and food outlets which were reasonably priced. It's very clear that your entrance fee and any profits go towards animal welfare and conservation, which is great to know. Get to the Orca, sea lion and dolphin shows early for the beat seats, avoid the front if you want to stay dry, but that's part of the fun. Sea lions were our favourite 🦭. The fish tank displays are brilliant and absolutely massive! 🐟 🐠 The gardens and fauna are amazing! 🌟 ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 🦭🐬👏👏👏👏

My husband and I loves animals and we arrived 2:30 before closing and we made the best out of it. We saw almost everything but had to be fast. Well maintained and a lot a variety. The aquarium tube is fantastic. A must attractions on the island, no wonder they is pub all over the place.

Loro Parque is very unique. To call it a zoo would not do it justice. You can tell as you walk through the park that the staff really care about the place. They are constantly cleaning and maintaining the grounds, and the interactions with the animals at the shows are really impressive. You can tell there is a lot of trust between the handlers and their animal coworkers. Beyond that, the rare and endangered animals they have are too many to list. My wife and I had a great time and even made friends with a beautiful Pasquels Parrot. Highly recommend visiting! I recommend at least 5 hours to see everything, and bring good walking shoes as there are slopes and slippery sections.
Ryan — Google review
Loro Parque is an exceptional experience, and exceeded our expectations. We attended all the shows and each show showed us the true beauties of these animals. We also got the beautiful feeling that each and every staff really love and care for these animals and it adds to the beauty of the experience. The whole park is exceptionally well kept and when you read around the park and listen to all the information when attending the shows, you realise how much the park really does and it makes you really appreciate the experience even more. We actually spent 6+ hours here and we still felt we could of stayed longer. We visited the Orca show twice as we needed to get splashed 😆 🤣. My favourite show was the Sea Lions but that's not to say that the Dolphins, Parrots & Orca's weren't worth the watch even if you want to watch them twice lol.
Sjcartier L — Google review
This place is definitely worth a visit! It’s interesting for everyone — from small kids to adults. The penguins are a must-see! Go up to the top of the Amazon section to take photos with the colourful parrots — it’s very impressive. There are plenty of shaded areas and spots to take a break, as well as a nice playground for kids. One of the most beautiful zoos I’ve ever seen!
Marina D — Google review
Park that worth visiting. Many attractions for all ages. Orca, dolphin and sea lions show are great. Get ready to get wet when watching Orcas! Beautiful, well kept grounds with areas to relax. Food available on premises but very limited options. Animals kept in Loro Park look very happy and well cared for. Workers and trainers are happy to answer questions, there is no swimming with dolphins or orcas

Discover La Fortaleza, a little-known trail at El Portillo Visitor Center with spectacular views of the north face of Teide. The trail is easy and suitable for all types of hikers, offering beautiful contrasts of stone formations along the way. At the top, you can admire incredible panoramic views. The dense lava formation that makes up La Fortaleza is a remnant from an ancient eruption, creating a unique and impressive natural wonder.
Wonderful hike, little frequented. The hike starts at the El Portillo Visitor Center. The hike here is easy, only going up Fortaleza is exhausting. You have a great view, including on Pico del Teide. It's very cool in the mornings in winter, I recommend a jacket. During the day it gets much warmer due to the power of the sun, so shorts are recommended. Also bring sun protection and enough to drink!

It can also be done in winter and the landscape is even more beautiful than in summer. (Original) Sendero poco conocido pero 100% recomendable. También se puede hacer en invierno y el paisaje es todavía más bonito que en verano.

(Translated by Google) We have done the trail that starts from the Portillo Visitor Center and we have traveled about 5 km to the Guanchero Canyon and fortress. The Teide Cable Car, situated in the heart of Teide National Park on Tenerife, offers a breathtaking journey up Spain's highest volcano. As visitors ascend and descend Mount Teide, they are treated to unparalleled views of the Canary Islands and a mesmerizing geological landscape featuring volcanoes, craters, and rivers of lava. This remarkable attraction is a testament to modern engineering overcoming the challenges posed by the mountain environment.
We visited Teide National Park and took the Teide Cable Car for the sunset climb—it was one of the most unique and unforgettable experiences we’ve ever had! My wife and I bought tickets for the sunset ride, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like we were on another planet. The scenery on the way to the cable car was breathtaking—volcanic landscapes, endless views, and a sense of adventure in the air. The cable car ride itself was smooth and exciting, filled with adrenaline and joy. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, answering all our questions and making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. At the top, the view was absolutely stunning. Watching the sunset above the clouds was a magical moment we’ll never forget. Just a small tip: it’s much colder up there, so dress warmly and be prepared for a short but slightly challenging hike. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tenerife—this is a must-do experience!

Well worth going. We were on a tour and I wish we'd spent longer up the top as we only got 70 mins with the tour. Beware the air is thin and it's surprisingly hard just walking to the view points, what would have normal been a 15 minute walk became 30 minutes with breaks to pant. My partner is incredibly fit and active, and even he had to keep stopping to recover. Views are spectacular and the air and temperature change was eye opening. Enjoyed every minute there! Also as a quick note there are toilets on the top station, which was unexpectedly useful.
Rowanne — Google review
Well worth a visit. Parking is free or grab a coach tour. Arrive for your time slot and book tickets online. Facilities at the entrance but you need your ticket to access. Coffee and food at the bottom The cable car can be accessed by all but be aware if you are pregnant or have a child under 3 it's not recommended or if you have a heart condition. It can be cold at the top so take a light cost or jumper. If you want to walk the trail take suitable footware as it's rocky. The view is spectacular. It's unique. Overall the experience will take you 2hrs. And if your staying on the coast an easy 1hr drive. I recommend visiting for the experience.
Mark C — Google review
The drive up from South Tenerife was stunning, winding through pine forests and rising above the clouds before reaching a moonscape of volcanic rock at the Teide Cable Car station. Our visit to the Teide Cable Car was one of the highlights of our trip to Tenerife. We bought our tickets online in advance, which made the process completely hassle-free. There was only a short wait when we arrived, and we were soon boarding the cable car. There’s also a good café on site, perfect for a quick lunch or snack, with lovely views of the surrounding landscape. The ride to the upper station was an adventure in itself, offering dramatic volcanic scenery and sweeping views that stretched all the way to the ocean. We spent time exploring the viewing paths at the top and enjoyed the crisp, fresh mountain air. Just a note: you’ll need a special permit to reach the very summit, so plan ahead if that’s on your list. Overall, the Teide Cable Car is well organized, scenic, and absolutely worth it. Tip: Bring a hat or warm clothes cuz it can be windy and much cooler at the top.
Corey T — Google review
An amazing experience, though somewhat expensive. The cable car carries many people at the same time, so it can feel a bit like being a sardine. Once at the top near the volcano, the views are stunning. You’re allowed to hike for a maximum of one hour. To get closer to the volcano itself, a special permit is required.
Melissa R — Google review
The view from the top (upper cable car station) is stunning. We paid for a tour to see the sunset. It was an organized tour. The time 18:15 was written on our ticket. We waited one hour to go up. At the top, you can see the unique shadow of the volcano Pico de Teide. The view is amazing. Then, as a group, you continue west to observe the sunset. But sometimes things can go wrong, and they may stop the groups a few hundred meters before the western viewpoint, or something similar. Free movement isn’t allowed, so you must do only what they say. Don’t forget to take an extra jacket, not just a thin hoodie. The sunset is quite common, and you can see a similar one from the road below the volcano on its west side.
Peter H — Google review
Honestly, it's an incredible activity, but the madness of finding parking makes it a real nightmare. There clearly aren't enough parking spaces. That said, the view is magnificent. It's an activity worth doing if you're on the island. Allow at least an hour's notice to find parking.
S C — Google review
Stunning views high above the clouds. Beware if you suffer with ear pain with altitude changes as you will be 3700m above sea level. Also take warm clothing as it is cold up there. But well worth a visit.

Standing at 27 meters tall and located approximately 3.5 miles from Mount Teide, this striking structure is a must-see for visitors exploring the island. Its unique shape has made it one of the most photographed landmarks in the area and even earned a spot on local currency before the euro was introduced.
Magical place, well worth visiting, however if you drive drive carefully because of social media obsessed tourists stand on the road.

Beautifull place to visit in the national prak although it is quite popular and can be very crowded with tourists. Especially nice during sunset if you want to take nice pictures

Unique volcanic panoramic. Beautiful place and well worth a visit, beautiful drive up too. Couldn’t see any way for public transport, so probably either a car hire or tour group is needed. Tried to catch the sunset but blocked by a few of the peaks, there are probably better places for that. Driving down after sunset was great as well, a sea of clouds tinged brilliant red was on view in a few of the gaps.

Beautiful. Majority people come to see the Cathedral and continue the trip. Definitely wort the hike around with many beautiful views to Teide and its outer crates, plus many different types of lava. Hike is for 1:30h. It is easy, but the heat is killing during the summer.

Mirador de Samara, located off the TF-38, offers a stunning view of Spain's highest peak, Mt Teide. The moderately challenging volcanic trail starts and ends at the Mirador de Samara parking lot and takes hikers through an ashen crater landscape with tephra underfoot. The route showcases contrasts between black lava and resilient Canary Island pine, with various volcanic formations along the way.
We very liked this path- it was not the easiest (we climbed about 70 floors) but we enjoyed the views, they were very different and interesting. In the middle (after more than 1 hour walk) you can choose to go further - till pico de Viejo (+2,1 km + more than 1000 m to one side), but you need to start earlier, because it takes more time.

A nice hike trail. Not very challenging route so suitable for inexperienced hikers. The view is lovely along the way. It’s a loop trail so you won’t get lost easily. There are some big boulders in the middle which was nice . Overall worth a visit !

Impressive view to the north part of the island. 20minute walk from the cable car upper station. Path is uneven with small ups and downs and good footwear is needed. The 6.5 km loop provides epic views of Tenerife's newest volcano and takes hikers through pine forests, offering a striking contrast to the desolate landscapes. This easy two-hour hike is suitable for active pensioners and children alike, with manageable elevation gain.
Amazing walk from Montana Negra and ring around Chinyero. Couple completely different natural landscapes, peace and quiet. pine forest and lava fields are out of this world. Would love to come back

Watch out for the mouflon control closing times. This wasn’t mentioned anywhere as we searched for the hike and only found out about it once we got there after hiking for 11km from Garachico 😱, so we couldn’t see the volcano on that day. We came back the next day by car though to see it and it was worth it!

Awesome hiking area. Beware of thieves if parking your car near the road, leave no valuables inside. You can see a lot of shattered glass on the ground near the parking areas. Thankfully the robbers didn't break our windows, but they pried open the window and stole a few euros out of a wallet.

Breathtaking trail that reminds one of the power of nature. About 13k hike with a few trees offering much needed shade in the summers. No facilities around so do carry food and plenty of water id you plan to do the full loop. Worth it!

Scenic spot
Nestled in the Teno Mountains of Tenerife, Masca is a tiny pre-Spanish Guanche village with a rich history and dramatic scenery. The village offers breathtaking views but can be challenging to reach due to its winding roads. Visitors can take a boat to Los Gigantes and then catch a bus or taxi back to Masca, making it accessible with some planning. The village is well-preserved and offers holiday rentals for those looking to explore its hidden secrets.
The views are breathtaking, almost surreal. Make sure to stop by the café above the village for a panoramic view over the valley. Must is cactus lemonade. The road to Masca is full of sharp curves, but the views from the road along the way makes the drive more than worth it.

The road to Masca can be super scary, i am affraid of heights but when you arrive there, it is breathtaking. The patking places are limited. Best to visit till 10 o’clock. A small village, stunning views, bars, souvenirs, lizards, cats and a small church. Splendid.
Andreea I — Google review
Pretty nice and calm place. Not that all special if you are used to mountains and rocks though. The view from the village to seaside is nice and the fact that they built a village here is impressive. The road leading up to the village is very narrow so we went with the 355 bus from Santiago to avoid potential stress. At the time we went (14:00 on a September Sunday) it wasnt too bad with tourists. Considering the effort to get to this place I wouldnt call it worthwhile.

After a quite tricky drive down to masca due to the narrow roads we arrived in this beautiful place! It is definitely worth visiting! there‘s so many nice photo spots and also a lot to see. it‘s like a cute little village in the middle of the valley:) there‘s not to many parking spots so i would recommend going early:) a place straight from pinterest🤗
Sina S — Google review
You shouldn’t miss this village while visiting Tenerife. Be prepared that road is extremely narrow with high elevation, lot of traffic and few parking spaces. We managed to squeeze our car in of the sharp corners. One bus driver was shouting at us while we were leaving the car there but in the end he turned through the corner in one go so we left the car there and no traffic jam was caused by us. You need to be a little cheeky if you want to get a parking spot on these roads.

This little town is something out of the movies! The view 360 degrees will leave you speechless! The natural beauty is absolutely incredible! If you ca, make sure to visit during weekdays and not during peak hours. It's even more incredible if less people are around. And I did not even mention the good part. The road to Masca is stunning! Mare sure to loan an automatic transmission car. Otherwise you might get in trouble.! The elevation, the twists and turns and the narrowness of the road is something any car enthusiast will love!

Save time and peace of mind, go to masca by bus. We parked in Santiago del Teide and took 355 bus to Masca. The journey only took 15 minutes but we didn’t stress about the traffic at all. The bus only costs 1.90. The village is stunning to have a short walk around and have some coffee with the view

Mount Teide is a popular destination best reached by car or tourist bus, with the option of taking a cable cart from 2500m to 3600m. It's advisable to book tickets online in advance due to high demand. Alternatively, there's a challenging four-hour hike one way. Visitors are limited to one hour at the peak due to thin air. Night hikes offer an amazing experience, with the chance to witness a breathtaking sunrise at 7:00 am.
Mount Teide is an incredible place that you must visit if you’re in Tenerife! The volcano and its surroundings are mesmerizing — fantastic views of the island, unique landscapes, and massive rock formations. To reach the summit, you need a special permit, which must be obtained in advance. We purchased it online, and it was a convenient and essential step. The cable car takes you up to a high altitude, where you can enjoy breathtaking views. It’s quite cool at the summit, so make sure to dress warmly, even if it’s warm at the base. A truly unique place that leaves unforgettable impressions!

I did it. Night hike. Amazing experience. There was super strong wind that night but we managed to succeed. That was my yet most extreme experience. Start at 1:00 after midnight, at 7:00 amazing sunrise. Unfortunately cable car did not work due to wind so we had to descend down. I did not sleep nor had a good meal that day but this was wonderful.

I hiked El Teide 3 times in 2 years..Mostly in winter time..No one because the cable car is closed, also ice and snow on top.. Always free up there..Too cold for tourists but not for courageous souls.. Possible to sleep under the cable at 3500m high, there is a stockage room which can be open..Lovely place at Sunrise/Sunset
AYAM T — Google review
This was as close as we got to the peak of the volcano. It’s literally breathtaking, yes that was a bad joke, because the air is quite thin your time here is limited to one hour. I guess I went against the grain because I was not supposed to go up as I have high blood pressure, I figured however I’d risk it, when else would I get this close to a volcano? It’s a great place, but yes it is slight discombobulating, I found breathing at the start quite difficult, I had to rethink the way I breathed, there were a lot of people up there having to take rest and many fell ill not on the ascent but on the descent, so that’s worth bearing in mind. My best guidance is pace yourself and when you feel you have had enough turn back. We made it all the way to one of the view points and enjoyed seeing some steam vents. It’s 100% worth doing, just remember your personal limitations, nobody I’m aware of needed medical help, but you could see the effects on those that over pushed themselves.

The Botanical Garden in Puerto de la Cruz, also known as Jardin Botanico de Aclimatacion de la Orotava, is an 18th-century garden featuring a diverse collection of tropical and subtropical plants. Visitors can marvel at the 200-year-old fig tree and take a leisurely stroll through the garden's beautiful scenery, exotic flowers, and impressive trees.
Such a beautiful place! 🌺🪴 The garden is full of amazing plants, from huge tropical leaves to colorful flowers and water lilies. It feels very peaceful and relaxing to walk around, and you can really take your time just enjoying. I even spotted a bright red dragonfly, which made the visit feel even more special. Perfect spot to escape the busy tourist areas for a while 😉 Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Tenerife!

This was a lovely cool oasis on a hot day. A great selection of trees and plants, the online map and plant ID guide was great for the ID of key specimens. Plenty of people there, but did not feel busy. Lots of benches to enjoy the shade and bird life. Highly recommended.

Absolutely amazing and fascinating place, well worth the €3 euros each. Spent about 2 hours pottering about. If you love plants and wildlife I'd recommend it so highly one of the best things we did all week. The man on the desk was super helpful too, despite us being sleep deprived and speaking zero Spanish, he was able to help us find a taxi rank and number. I'm sure we looked like fools haha!
Rowanne — Google review
The Botanical Garden serves as a tranquil sanctuary, offering visitors a considerable respite from the coastal heat and humidity. For an entrance fee of just 3 euros, guests can explore the winding pathways and admire a lush and diverse collection of flora, some of which are truly exceptional. There are a lot of strategically placed benches throughout the park for relaxation. Visitors planning their journey should be aware that the inland distance from the coast results in significantly higher temperatures, making walking to the location strenuous (at least for us it was 😅)

Went here with family friends and I must say this is one of the most exotic parks I've been too. So many plants from different parts of the world organised in such a beautiful way. This definitely takes some studying to be able to manage this ecosystem. The place is more like a 30 min- 1 hour stroll. Its big but not thay big so keep that in mind. Even though the place is hot on the outside of the park, the inside is cool due to the shade of the trees. Free toilets upon paying a 2 Euro fee for locals, free for university students and kids under 8. I uploaded many pics so that they speak for the park.

Barranco del Infierno, also known as Hell's Ravine, is a stunning hiking trail located just outside Adeje in southwest Tenerife. The gorge features towering waterfalls and diverse flora including rare plant species such as drago trees, wild jasmine, and cardoncillo found only in the Canaries. Access to this natural sanctuary is limited to 300 people per day, requiring a pre-arranged permit for the three-hour hike through the ravine.
The experience was great! I suggest to arrive early around 08:30 so that you reach the waterfall at the end of the trail without other people disturbing you and you can enjoy the quietness and the nature. In this way it won’t be also that hot 👍 I was impressed by the canyon/barranco and by the nature, you cross sometimes a small river. All amazing!

We loved it! Wanted to do something different for my 50th birthday. So decided to go hiking. Beautiful scenery as far as the eye can see. The walk to the entrance is very steep so be prepared! The hike itself is not too bad, for beginners might be a bit strenuous but manageable. Just take it easy. Take plenty to drink and some chocolate to keep up the energy. In total 6.5 km up and down.
Gazza “ — Google review
Beautiful experience for nature lovers. Easy hike and a peaceful spot to rest and take in nature. Entry is controlled to preserve the environment, so it feels quiet and not overcrowded. The staff were friendly and gave a clear safety briefing before we set off.
Ann M — Google review
An easy to manage hike, mostly linear. Interesting to see the diversity of the flora and fauna. Better to arrive as early as possible because of the heat. The protective helmet isn’t too nice to wear for the whole hike, but I understand the need and the relevance. Definitely book in advance because of the limited entry and time sloths.
Kormanik B — Google review
A really enjoyable hike of moderate difficulty, with beautiful scenery. Finding parking is quite a challenge, navigating the charming backstreets. Allow 2.5-3 hours. Lots of sunshine and therefore very hot. We had a great time.
S C — Google review
Great easy hike in the Barranco del Infierno. Suitable for kids. Expect 3 hours + around 300m of positive altitude. The first part of the hike is in the heat, exposed to the sun, but the second part is in the shadow of the cliffs and the vegetation. Beautiful and spectacular scenery ! The negative part is that it is a back and forth hike, not a loop. You need to book in advance on the official website.
Antoine L — Google review
We booked our timeslot one day before hand and took a taxi to the entrance. It is a big hill goining up to the entrance. We went at 9 in the morning and there were some people but it was not overcrowded. I would recommend going early on a sunny day. It will be hot and sweaty (if you go diring the summertime) but the views of the sun peeking through the mountains are totally worth it! I am a bit afraid of heights but i didn't feel afraid once during this hike. The path is broad and safe.
Iris — Google review
Beautiful walk to the waterfall. Greatly maintained, clean and safe path. I was amazed by the two completely different biotops that we encountered on this 6,5km walk (3km up, 3km back). Firstly you go via dry land, typical Tenerife, though with many nice plants along the path. But then, quite suddenly, when the path joins the stream, it starts to look and feel as in the rain forrest. With little pools, frogs, sounds of birds...very nice 3 hours spent there. Little fee is fair. Staff was very friendly and as a cherry on the pie, you can buy a photo of you taken at the beginning of the walk. Normally I don't like these but here it was very friendly, with no push and actually nicely made. Great experience!

Nestled on the eastern coast of Tenerife, the Pyramids of Güímar are a captivating site that draws visitors into a world of mystery and history. This intriguing complex consists of six step pyramids made from lava stone, each one sparking curiosity about their origins. Some theories suggest connections to ancient civilizations, while others propose they were built for agricultural purposes. The accompanying museum delves into these various hypotheses and explores links with other pyramid-building cultures around the globe.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Pyramids of Güímar. The place is very well maintained, clean, and interesting to explore. Instead of the audio guide, we chose the extra access to the Poisonous Plants Garden, which was unique and very informative. The exhibitions and gardens are nicely presented, and there’s also a café and picnic area to relax. Overall, a fascinating and well-organised site, definitely worth a visit if you are in Tenerife

We had a fantastic guided tour at the Pirámides de Güímar. Our guide, Michael, was excellent, very knowledgeable and incredibly engaging in the way he explained the history of the pyramids and the surrounding cultural context. He made the tour both informative and enjoyable, always happy to answer our questions. They have also an interesting botanical garden. A wonderful experience overall, and definitely a sustainable activity to enjoy while exploring Tenerife. Highly recommended!

The pyramids and open museum was a great place to visit and spend time. We learned a lot about the heritage and culture of the Guanche people and settlers. You can definitely spend hours here enjoying the beautiful landscape and nature preserve. A must see!!
J W — Google review
I didn't get the exhibition. They try to establish a sort of correlation with other cultures, but fail to state a clear timeline. There is no model of what it might have looked like, or enough information. The replicas of Polynesia artifacts confuse more than provide any clarity. No in-depth analysis of the excavation site. On top of that, there are so called premium areas presenting poisonous flora (most are not any more poisonous than house plants) and the "tropicarium", which is a 4sq meter tent with a few orchids. A bit of a tourist trap. A few chickens and roosters loose around... go figure... maybe to eat some pests? I'd you're curiouse, do some research online and get straight to the pyramid itself, without paying extra for tropicarium or the poisonous garden.
Miguel — Google review

La Ruleta Vista Point is a popular stop in Tenerife's Teide National Park, offering an iconic view of Mt Teide and Roque de Garcia. It features a large car park but can get very busy with tour buses, so it's advised not to leave valuables in your car. The area also serves as a starting point for the Chinyero Volcano Loop, a 7.
Beautiful viewpoint with views of Teide, as well as the valley of the caldera. You can see the leading edge of the ancient lava flows, and picture it pushing across the valley floor. Parking is shared with trailhead, so parking can become difficult at best. If you get here in the afternoon, expect to park a ways away and walk. The view is certainly worth it though.

Amazing trip up here today. Took us 1hr12mins from El Medano. Beautiful scenery. Lovely walks. VERY busy to park but you'll eventually find a space whether in a car park or on a layby on the side of the road. Really worth the trip up. We would do the trip at night time next time to see it in the dark and the stars!

Located south of Mount Teide’s summit, the La Ruleta Vista Point offers an impressive view of Teide and the surrounding volcanic landscape, as well as the starting point for a roughly 3.5 km circular hike around the rock formations of Roque Cinchado, Roques de García, and the surrounding volcanic rocks. With sturdy footwear, the hike is suitable even for beginners and takes about 2–3 hours, depending on walking speed and number of breaks. The scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful, and both the La Ruleta viewpoint and the hike through the volcanic rocks are true highlights of Tenerife. It is highly recommended to arrive early, ideally between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m., as parking at the site is limited. Parking spaces can be found along the access road to La Ruleta Vista Point, near Ermita de las Nieves, as well as along the access road to the nearby hotel. After about 10:00 a.m., parking becomes crowded and chaotic, which can lead to a frustrating experience, especially considering the long drive to get there.

Mirador de la Ruleta offers one of Teide National Park’s most iconic views. Easily accessible by car, it overlooks the dramatic Roques de García and vast Llano de Ucanca plains. Perfect for families and travelers seeking breathtaking scenery without hiking, especially magical at sunset with Teide towering above.

Visiting Teide National Park was an unforgettable experience. The landscape is absolutely unique - a dramatic combination of ancient lava fields, surreal rock formations, and pine forests that feel like something from another world. The cable car ride to the summit was breathtaking, offering panoramic views not only of Tenerife but also of the surrounding islands. What struck me most was the sheer diversity of the scenery. In one day you can walk through volcanic deserts that look like Mars and then find yourself surrounded by fresh, green pine trees. The air is crisp and clear, making every viewpoint even more spectacular. The park is also very well organized, with clear trails, informative guides, and plenty of spots to stop and admire the views. Learning about the geological history of Mount Teide added a whole new level of appreciation - it’s not just a mountain, but a living symbol of the island. I would highly recommend Teide National Park to anyone visiting Tenerife. It’s not only a must-see attraction but also one of those rare places that leaves you with a sense of awe and perspective long after you’ve left.

The center features a charming botanical garden and an informative exhibition on Teide and other Spanish national parks. Guests can also enjoy a brief film about the island's geology.
Great place to visit. Dramatic scenery, if you've not been JUST GO... try the night tour, amazing star gazing opportunities.

Is a place to breakfast, lunch or dinner or take cafe or drinks with a giant Donuts o sweet potatoes Rosca, & mores . the food is Canarian and very rich flavor . recomended with espetacular view to Teide you have to come here is a very especial place !.

Nice visitor center with a botanical garden. It contains more information about the history of the island and El Teide. The information is easy to grasp and well presented. There are interactive elements as well as a movie in a small theatre. It’s well worth seeing the first time as it sets the tone for your Teide park visit - but keep in mind you should schedule it at the front desk to make sure the screening will be in the language of your choice. The botanical garden is also worthwhile for a quick stroll

El Portillo Visitor Center – Worth a Visit! El Portillo Visitor Center was a great place to explore. It provided excellent information about the origin of Tenerife and the Canary Islands. The botanical garden was stunning, and the educational material was well-presented and informative. We noticed vast areas affected by forest fires, stretching all the way to the edge of the national park. However, we missed seeing any information about these events in the park itself. It would have been valuable to include insights on the consequences for local plant and animal life. Definitely worth a visit!

Friendly staff, an interesting(free) exhibit, including a simulated walk on lava. There are several excellent hikes that start here. All the helpful staff.

The displays are very interesting but the presentation was excellent. The adjacent botanic garden also worth a visit, even if just to watch the lizards flitting about. The scenery is amazing; nature in the raw. We went Etna in 2023 - what a contrast

Definitely worth visiting on the way up. Totally free, with an interesting film to watch inside the visitor centre. Great views.

The best part of this centre in my opinion is the garden walk, there are some great views and it's very peaceful and relaxing. The centre appears to be a little tired and dated, but still informative.

Mirador El Tabonal Negro is a tourist hotspot in Tenerife that provides visitors with various perspectives and locations to appreciate the stunning night sky. Other viewpoints like Llano de Ucanca and the area surrounding the Parador also offer excellent opportunities for stargazing. This particular viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas of mountains, valleys, and Teide itself.
Like traveling through Mars! We drove up from Costa Adeje. About an hour and a bit. Windy but beautiful roads through the forest. You then tip over the top into the plateau and landscape changes immediately. Incredible! Can get very busy with bad parking and drivers so be careful but well worth the effort.

Truly the Moon on Earth. We went here as part of our guided tour and had just enough time to take enough of this place in and take some pictures. You have a good view on the ancient lava streams from the many volcanoes in this area as well, so make sure to spot the different colourings in the landscape as well.

Minas de San Jose, a tourist attraction located in La Orotava on the northern part of the island near Puerto de La Cruz, stands out for its remarkable architecture. Comparing it to other historical towns in Tenerife, the old town of La Orotava is truly exceptional. This distinction can be attributed to its association with wealthy individuals who resided here in the past - banana plantation owners, wine magnates, traders, and ship owners all constructed their houses here gradually over time.
Incredible Martian-like landscape! Minas de San José is one of the most surreal and stunning spots in Teide National Park. The volcanic formations and colors make you feel like you’re walking on another planet. It’s a perfect stop for photos and a short walk. Absolutely worth visiting while exploring the area!

An incredible place to visit. The tour through Minas de San José was fascinating — stunning scenery, great atmosphere and really well organised. The guides were knowledgeable and made the whole experience even better. A definite must-see if you’re in the area.

Look out for thieves! They can open your car without you even noticing. Do not leave any belongings inside. If you see someone alone just driving around this area, it’s better to stay near your car or leave. Luckily, we only had 30 euros in the car.

Amazing lunar-like landscape. I visited midday and there were parking spaces available. Definitely good spot to see if you are in the area. Set aside 30 minutes to see it.
Bobby G — Google review
This is a really magical place. It's only of those spots up in the Teide area that everyone says to visit, and with good reason. Parking is easy (except on my hired Harley this time! That was a bit scary.). It's a really short walk and the expanse of other-worldly pumice and lava field extend either side of the road. Walk all the way to the Mirador (5 minutes) and you can see how the Caldera has been filled with lava from eruptions. Truly stunning views.
Giles O — Google review
Lovely place for a short stop and walk in the Mars looking landscape. Beware of thieves, the parked cars do get robbed! I have witnessed one…
Lenka B — Google review
Interesting place to stop while visiting El Teide. Very cold this time of year.
Kormanik B — Google review
There are no words that can describe this beauty. Incredibly. It really is one of those places you have to see. It's like you've landed on Mars, or found yourself in one of John Ford's westerns. There aren't many people. You can wander through this landscape and find something new and interesting at every new meter. Truly amazing.
