Mountain peak
Mt Erie, a 1,273-ft. mountain in Anacortes, is renowned for its exposed rock surfaces that attract climbers and offer breathtaking views from the summit. It is a prominent landmark in Skagit County and has been a popular climbing destination since the 1960s. The mountain's formation dates back to the Jurassic Period and it was named by members of the Wilkes Expedition in 1841.
If you live in the big Seattle areas and you want to explore some hiking trails with beautiful mountains & lake views and nature connections, then this is the perfect spot for you. In a sunny Sunday morning in April, I got this amazing view and truly enjoyed this gorgeous spot. One important thing: no toilet available there.
Minghui X — Google review
Beautiful view, quiet, and a good place for family weekend.
Daniel S — Google review
Awesome experience. Great views. Must do. Can drive up to the top!
Brandon H — Google review
My granddaughter took me for an after dinner drive, I was very happy with it. At the top, we got outta the car to walk some steps and click some pics!
Mary ( — Google review
This place is amazing! We came out on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. We drove to the peak of the mountain but can't wait to come back this summer and just explore the trails. This place is kid friendly and pet friendly but you do need to keep dogs on a leash. Don't lose sight of your kids or dogs!
Yvonne G — Google review
To anyone who hasn't been here, it's a must. Whether you want to hike up to it, or drive up to it. I've come here more times than I can count over the years because it's the perfect place to just sit, and let your worries go. To clear your head and leave all your negative thoughts. I've often gone up with some snacks, a blanket, and my journal and just sat for hours. This was the view the other day. Foggy, and dreary all over, but as soon as you got to the top you were above it all, and it was sunny, and warm, and it felt like you were above the world looking down.
Katie P — Google review
Great place to rock climb if you’re into that sort of activities. While I didn’t take any of the trails it looked like a great place to take a dog running or just running in general. There’s benches to sit and hand out if you just want to enjoy the view overlooking the waters. The drive to the top is pretty steep and the roads were very narrow but not to narrow that it can’t fit two cars driving opposite directions.
Vee P — Google review
Amazing view, easy drive to the top. Beautiful scenery and some nice built in touches. Highly recommend to get a feel for PNW coastal beauty.

Nature & Parks
Nestled on the eastern edge of Anacortes, Cap Sante Park is a breathtaking 37-acre wooded haven that beckons nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. This park offers an array of hiking trails that meander through lush forests and rocky outcroppings, providing visitors with stunning elevated views of Fidalgo Bay, March Point, and the majestic Cascade Mountains.
Came here to show my friends the beautiful scenery since this has the best veiw in Anacortes. They don't always have tons of parking if there's a lot of people but there's still plenty of dirt space to park. The rock color is so beautiful and if you come at sunset and look over the harbor you'll see the most beautiful view. You can climb over the rocks and get a view of the ocean from all around.
Tara H — Google review
I grew up going to this peak and have gone there every time I'm back in town, so dozens. You can drive up to the top or hike up from below. They recently built a new lookout to the East and I'm thrilled about it! This is a great place to catch a sunrise, sunset, have lunch, take photos or even get engaged 💍. Love Cap Sante!
Candice E — Google review
A great place to see great views morning and night. Come up for a sunrise or and sunset the 360 views don’t disappoint- rotary did a beautiful job on the new additions.
Tammy L — Google review
We didn't know this viewing area existed and pretty much stumbled upon it. Great views of the water, town of Anacortes from a nice, high vantage point. The park has been recently re-done with seating areas, walkways, and railings to make for safe viewing.
Maggie S — Google review
nice overlook of Anacortes. there's a little trail and lots of places to enjoy the view. Parking can be a little crowded when it's really nice weather. Great place to have a nice picnic
A E — Google review
Cap Sante park and view point is a very Awesome view point bring a folding chair and get here early there is about 10 parking spots we saw a lot of people playing with R.C. cars and trucks on the rocks and bolders. And below the park Next to the marina the is a jetty walk out to a gazebo that would be a great place to have a bag lunch.
Mike R — Google review
My brother found this cool viewpoint. You can see the entire town from up there as well as views of the water. Roads are a bit narrow when driving up. There is a small path you can take near the sign for more views. Didn't notice any bathrooms up here. Really cool spot.

Farmers Markets
Anacortes Farmers Market is a vibrant gathering in the heart of Anacortes' historic downtown district, drawing diverse crowds and offering entertainment every Saturday morning from May to October. Located at the town plaza adjacent to the Depot Community and Arts Center, this market showcases an array of locally-cultivated produce, farm-fresh meats, wild-caught seafood, pantry goods, and baked treats from about twenty local vendors.
Had a great experience. Many wonderful artists. One lady made me custom earrings to match my necklace. Her necklaces were priced better than any sale ever. $15 for any size silver necklace! 2024 season is winding down . Found Sammish Bay cheese though. A new must have!
Laura D — Google review
Fun little Saturday market. Bought some gorgeous flowers from guys from Snohomish. And I love my earrings from the lady who like dragon flies!!!!
Karen K — Google review
We are from Colorado and love to find a good farmers market while we are traveling in our camper-van. This market is very nice. We visited in on a warm summer day in August 2022. Nice vendors with a pleasing variety of locally produced food.
David L — Google review
Always nice to meander through in the summer, seeing all the fresh produce, good food, arts and music.
Emmanuel R — Google review
This is a 3 star only because there wasn't a whole lot there. Otherwise it was pretty cool. The best part was the mad hatter ice cream place, the dude was super nice and really cool. Loved the attitude and his laugh. I've cream was great!
Payton J — Google review
Very cute market. Lots of handmade crafts and unique items. Good looking food, spices and other condiments. Not a lot of produce being sold.
John B — Google review
The place is nice, has some nice art. They were not open as they are only open a few months of the year. So double check they are open before going out of your way to see them.

The museum offers a glimpse into the city's past, including its days of milling and canning.
What a great gem! My daughter and I loved it, the staff is so attentive, and I even got to look at some archive files concerning a topic I was interested in. The new photography exhibit is great!
Chelsea H — Google review
Great little museum with the history of the local port town of Anacortes.
Kenneth B — Google review
Interesting but really small. Most of what was on display was for a future rotating exhibit that didn't have any info on it, and there was very little about the history of the town itself

Playground
Nature & Parks
John Storvik Playground, located in Anacortes, is an 8.7-acre public park named after early city resident John Storvik. The community-built playground features nautical and maritime-themed play equipment, including suspended bridges and play ferries, as well as fantasy-themed elements like climbing castle towers and a stage for children to perform on. This charming park also offers a seasonal splash pad for kids to enjoy.
I was so amazed. It was huge and unique and charming. My 2.5 year old loved the big kid side and the tot lot, as well as the splash pad that of course didn’t have water in it in November. It could use some paint, but I hope they never tear it out for something bigger and better! I love how there clearly was painting done by community members and I loved how the playground itself has parts that were the mountain, or boat, or car, or the sound with whales.
Emily V — Google review
Really enjoyed this park! A pretty large park as well. Great playground for kiddos to enjoy with splash park for some water play! Will definitely be back 😊
Renee R — Google review
This place is so creative and cute for kids to play in! A thoughtful, caring team put a lot of heart and work into this playground. A pirate ship for kids to play in, adorable drawings of an octopus and dragon. A stage to let kids use their imagination and have fun. Sand pit to play in, swings, a play house and cute splash pad! Definitely worth letting kids play, learn, and explore!
Lacie J — Google review
Truly a wonderful park. Great playground with splash pads. Plenty of parking that’s free. This is such a wonderful part of this great town.
Nick C — Google review
I liked the monkey bars. I liked the slides there. Monkey bars were the best because I got to swing on them. I did not like it cause my brother and sister forced me to play a game with them. I didn't get to play there that much. It made me sweat. Maybe I would make the climbing wall have more climbing grips. -5 year old playground user
Sam G — Google review
Water splash pad in the summer. And regular playground year round
Troy M — Google review
Great park for younger kids to run around and cool off with a pretty large playscape and fun little splash pad.
Brett H — Google review
This park is amazing! There are so many areas to explore and the toys are so imaginative! Pirate ship with an octopus climbing up it, anacortes ferry carrying a car, a dragon climbing wall, a mountain range stairway with the river as the stairs, tire swings, spray park, slides, a toddler town and the list goes on and on. We always love to visit when we're in town.

A nice little spot to wait for your ferry to come in. Flat, even path makes for an easy walk along the water.
Kerri — Google review
My favorite beach, it is beautiful! Dog friendly but remember to use leashes. No restroom and lots of sun, so remember your sunscreen.
Tonya B — Google review
Very nice sandy beach just outside downtown Anacortes.
Erol M — Google review
Super Cute little raised trail especially if you’re waiting for the ferry!
Jillian R — Google review
Trail with a great view of the islands, lots of birds and bunnies to watch.
Mrinabh D — Google review
A civilized nature walk for those who don't want to get their shoes muddy, plus one of the few sandy beaches open to the public on Fidalgo Island. Beautiful artwork and unique benches. Ship Harbor is a gorgeous spot to hang out while waiting for a ferry, but access from the ferry terminal could be better.

Visitors to Anacortes can also enjoy outdoor activities such as sea kayaking and exploring the scenic Deception Pass area.
My wife, friend, and I just ate here for dinner this evening (Feb 1st). Absolutely delicious food. The service was wonderful and everyone was very friendly. The crab cakes were absolutely amazing, definitely the best I've had in my entire 32-year life. The pan-fried oysters were fantastic appetizers, and the apple crisp a la mode was ridiculously tasty. We left very pleased and no one was hungry! My wife and I are visiting Seattle for a few short days from Indiana, so seafood is something we knew we needed to try. Our friend lives in Mt. Vernon and we just went on a little hike to Mt. Erie, this was the perfect way to end the night. I can't wait for the next time we are in the area because we will be back!
Yew S — Google review
Came in on the Arts and craft festival. Got a seat at the bar. Waited over 15 mins then had to ask for service. The bruschetta was so lame. Crappy cheap French bread and just crap on it and it was $25. For 6 tinny thin slices, Nothing fresh about it, all processed. No fresh chopped tomatoes, no balsamic. Watched the kitchen prepare food not impressed just robots. Won’t be back!
Cig ( — Google review
Adrift is a food lovers go to. The menu has a good variety, the serving protions are perfect and beautifully presented. Everything I had was so fresh and made their and prepped there. Incredible service and the atmosphere was casual but classy and lively and slightly quirky in a good way. Their baked goods and desserts looked amazing though I was too full from my dinner to try any of them. I would be a regular guest if lived there.
Lisa K — Google review
Highly rated, my daughter and I stopped by for a quick lunch. When you walk in, it doesn't seem like it's a restaurant but you walk towards the back and on the right side is the dining room. Our server was very nice and darn it!!!!!! I forgot our servers name. She was very nice, friendly and attentive. Food: Shrimp Tacos Basil Grilled Cheese Sandwhich add Tomato Soup French Fries The shrimp tacos were good, and the friench fries were really good. I enjoyed the grilled cheese and dipping it in the soup. Overall, it's a cute spot and nice neighborhood. I'd return again.

If you need Clam chowder when in Anacortes, this is the place. Made to order, full of clams in the shell, bacon, potatoes other seafood in a rich cream sauce.
Andy R — Google review
Second time to this wonderful establishment. Both times the food has been cooked to perfection. The menu is nice and provides a very comfortable section for anyone to choose from. They offer specials and I had the special both times. Everything tasted fresh and the flavors all make sense.
Julian L — Google review
Came in relatively late on a Monday night. Restaurant was less than half full but everything still took a long time - getting seated, ordering, getting check, etc. There was a larger party present that seemed to get most of the attention, which was somewhat understandable. Ordered the crab cakes and a glass of cab. Wine was good and reasonably priced. Food was generally above average. Crab cakes were nicely cooked and I appreciated the inventive presentation with the raspberry sauce. Potato wedges were very good but the kale/garlic were definitely way underdone.
Steve H — Google review
Excellent service & food. Kale was not overcooked, the aromatics enhanced the taste & freshness. Crab cakes & steamers were just as good; focaccia was perfect to sop up the steamer "juice."

Rockfish Grill & Anacortes Brewery is a family-friendly brewpub located in Anacortes' Old Town district. It offers a casual atmosphere with a beer garden and regular live music. The menu features classic pub fare such as fish 'n' chips, pizza, and house-brewed ales. The establishment is known for its high-quality bar food, including individually-sized wood-fired pizzas with creative toppings like pineapple, roasted garlic, Gorgonzola cheese, and smoked salmon.
Absolutely loved this place! We arrived to the start of a lunch rush and we were greeted and seated right way. The atmosphere was smiles all around and open to all the questions I had. Mainly local and personal favorite our server would recommend. It was awesome to try out the beers before I decided on one. The food was definitely fresh, hot and amazing! This was our first time in Anacortes but this brewery makes us want to come back every year!
The H — Google review
The food was solid, but what really sets this place apart is the excellent service and impressive house-made beer selection. I had the bowl of chili, and my wife had the clam chowder. The chili was a bit on the watery side and lacked a strong chili flavor, and my wife found the clam chowder to have a similar consistency. However, the pretzels with beer cheese were fantastic, and the variety of in-house beers is surprisingly large for such a small restaurant. To top it off, the cheesecake brownie was absolutely out of this world! Oyster shooters were fresh but at $5 a pop, quite pricey.
Jason R — Google review
Great service. Friendly/prompt/attentive. Pan fried oysters were done well, good amount of breading though. NY Steak cooks medium rare, juicy with a nice sear. Waffle fries for the wine. A bit too salty but still good. Can't complain about the clam chowder, had a nice bit of heat to it but not overwhelming. Smoke salmon penne was spot on with a creamy pesto sauce.
Darnell K — Google review
Overall really great service. The food came out quick and our server was super friendly. The food came out very quick (10-15 min). We all got the fish and chips, the fish was good, the fries were okay. The coleslaw was definitely a perfect side with the dish. And their house made sauce is fantastic with anything fried. We ended with their brownie cheesecake, and it was amazing. One of the best brownies I’ve ever had, and it’s big enough to feed 4-6 people easily.
Brayden C — Google review
Amazing place to eat in Anacortes! Even though I grew up here I hadn't been to this restaurant, I came here last time I was in town visiting family and I loved it! The food was delicious, we were seated quickly, and the staff and other customers were nice! The portions of food were very large as well! I came here with my Fiancé and my little sister. My little sister got a pot pie and it looked big enough for the 3 of us! I got a pulled pork sandwich and it was too much to finish! My fiancé got the ribs! Everything was delicious, this will be somewhere we return to each time we visit now!
Nugget — Google review
Great service! Our server was attentive and always checking in. The Etouffee was listed as spicy on the menu but it really was SPICY! The Etouffee was too saucy and not enough of the shrimps, and sausages, etc. The Mushroom Swiss Burger was juicy. The brownie ala mode was gigantic and very tasty but then again, I haven’t met too many brownies that I don’t love. :-) On Saturday evenings, there’s usually a band playing. This week it was Jomama. They were quite good. Overall a good visit!
S T — Google review
Do NOT eat here. The food is terrible. We ordered a mushroom Swiss burger and it was so dry and overcooked it was like jerky. The mushrooms were so dry and crispy I could have crushed them into a powder. I subbed chowder for my fries for 2.99 and it was essentially a small cup of milk. We also got fish and chips and while the fish was good, the breading had a weird flavor. Fish and chips were served with a gross flavored sauce which I believe to be a red pepper flavored Tatar, it was a huge miss. Almost $70 with tip for 2 meals and no drinks. I would pay to not eat there again.
Riley H — Google review
I visited on a Tuesday for a late lunch/early dinner. It was not crowded at all. A few folks at the bar and maybe 3 tables had folks seated. Service was pretty slow all things considered. However, everyone was super friendly and helpful. Lots of laughter and happiness. The food was fantastic! I had the Crab Mac & Cheese with Broccolini and the Margarita Shrimp Cocktail. I really enjoyed both dishes. I even love the Broccolini and I'm not usually a big fan. I would eat here again!

We felt secure in this Marina. We stayed a few days as we wound up our trip to the San Juan Islands. We enjoyed the wildlife around the slips. We saw seal, great blue heron, crows, ravens, a chestnut backed chickadee, Brewers blackbirds, etc. Our dog loved the close by dog park. We heard there is another better one nearby, but our 6 month old poodle puppy just wanted space to run.

Really wonderful and organized staff. They helped me greatly and were very professional. From the office personnel to the people running the boat lift to the evening harbor patrol - Mike. The Maritime Heritage Center in Anacortes, Washington offers tours of the W.T. Preston Snagboat, a rare historic steamboat built in 1939. This sternwheeler was originally constructed to clear logjams on Puget Sound and is now a National Historic Landmark vessel. The W.T.
Only was able to drop by for 10-20 minutes but had a great time talking to Rachel who was really knowledgeable and friendly! Would highly recommend dropping by for anyone in the area. Next time I'll be sure to do the actual steamboat tour as well!

The museum is not very big but I learned so much about different shoreline activities, boatbuilding, mills and canneries; admission is free. You can also tour inside the steamboat (1929 wooden-hulled) WT Preston - but not during winter months.

Park
Causland Memorial Park is a charming urban oasis nestled in the heart of Anacortes, showcasing a delightful blend of nature and community spirit. Established between 1920 and 1926 under the vision of architect Jean LePage, this park features vibrant stone mosaics crafted from native rocks sourced from Fidalgo Island and its surroundings. It serves as a tribute to Harry Leon Causland, a local hero who lost his life during World War I, along with 13 other brave souls.
A really beautiful little park. A nice place for a picnic under the trees or for the kids to run around on the grass. It's a small park, not much else to do, but the walls are such cool works of art. Definitely worth a visit!
Sarah M — Google review
What a unique 2 acre park, a full square block. Picnic tables, terraces, a cannon, an amphitheatre/ bandstand, a grass yard with lovely trees. The structures were built out of locally gathered different types and colors of rocks. I noticed really large pieces of what looked like white quartz. Many designs were made; hand placed, and set in cement. I've never seen anything like this. And what a lovely town with big personality.
Wildcraft R — Google review
Beautiful peaceful park. Wonderful memorial in the center and truly magical rock art. We all loved it. A few parking spaces and excellent photo ops.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Anacortes, Calico Cupboard Café & Bakery is a delightful spot that captures the essence of home-cooked meals and freshly baked treats. Established in 1992 by the talented baker and chef Linda Freed, this charming café offers a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of country-style dining. Guests can indulge in an array of scrumptious baked goods made from scratch using organic flours and grains.
If you were not planning to go to Anacortes, take a detour to have breakfast or lunch here. They don’t do dinner but wish they did! Awesome selections of food and the pastries are incredible. Cinnamon rolls are huge, big enough for two. Wide selection on the menu. Also have mimosa flights with around twenty different selections for a flight of four. Staff very friendly and very patient with us trying to figure out what we wanted to order. I had the blueberry pancakes and my daughter had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. Both were great.
Bill W — Google review
It’s generally expected that a hostesses job is to greet and seat customers in a courteous manner, not so at this place. Put your name on a list yourself no problem, get snapped at in a rude nasty manner for asking a question or standing in front of a to-go counter to place an order is unacceptable. She was rude to us as well but these were interactions we witnessed with other customers. The customer service of the wait staff was great. The food was very good. If you want cinnamon rolls this is the place. We would recommend this place with the caveat the you may have to deal with the unfriendly hostess.

Stopped in for breakfast aground 9:45 am on a Friday in early October. They were busy but had a table available. We had the most attentive server Abby B. We wanted to try a few different things so we ordered the burrito with potatoes, French toast with ham & biscuits & gravy. The burrito was huge & so delicious !!! Ham & potatoes were both fresh & food. Highly recommend enjoying breakfast here when in Anacortes. Prices were reasonable, portions are huge & the service was fantastic !!
Terri D — Google review
Had a wonderful breakfast experience here. There are a lot of options to choose from which makes it hard to decide. The original cinnamon roll was so soft and tasty, I recommend any option they have. My wife got the brother-in-law scramble and enjoyed it. I love lemonade and they have 6 different types and as I'm visiting i could not decide so I asked if I could get a flight of lemonade and they did. Each one was wonderful and they one I would of gotten was not the best of the 4. If your in the area, stop in for some wonderful food, lemonade, rolls, and coffee.

When I arrived at Anacortes Calico Cupboard Café, I wasn’t initially impressed despite the stunning ambiance. I hoped for a great experience, but it took a while for a hostess to greet me at the sign-in sheet. She was kind and estimated a 10-minute wait, though it stretched to 20—manageable, but noticeable. Our server, a quiet young lady, took our drink order after a delay. She was unemotional and hard to hear, though she kindly let me sample the passion fruit tea, which was tasty. Drinks arrived after another 5-10 minutes, delivered by a different server— quiet, with minimal engagement, not checking if we needed anything. With two babies under the age of two with us, I grew increasingly disappointed with the service. After another 10-minute wait, Pearle arrived to take our order and transformed the experience with her sunshine-like demeanor. She single-handedly salvaged the visit, as the first 35-40 minutes had me vowing never to return. The food, however, was a highlight—fresh and delicious. The Calico Grub burst with flavors, enhanced by peppers. The passion fruit iced tea and toffee Irish cream boozy sipper were exceptional, as were the Calico Clubhouse with chips and the kids’ ham and cheese croissant. The cinnamon rolls (which I’ll try next time) looked irresistible. The bill felt steep—$14 for a side of bacon (4pc) seemed excessive. I’d love to rate the restaurant five stars only thanks to Pearle; the earlier service was lackluster. If I could, I’d give Pearle a hundred stars. The other staff could learn a lot from her training. Though it wasn’t busy at first, it got crowded later. Every time a tray of food passed, the vibrant dishes caught my eye, tempting me to give this place another chance.
Gayle C — Google review
7/11/2025 I think Calico Cupboard is the most recommended brunch spot in the Skagit Valley Area and for good reason. As it was Friday, there was no wait. Immediately got a table for two and went to town. My partner and I ordered two coffees and they came out in about 5 mins. Started off the order with a Maple Bacon Cinnamon Roll and wow, melt in your mouth goodness and flavors that dance on your taste buds with every bite. Just as we were finishing up the roll, our food came out steaming and tasted wonderfully. Ordered the Salmon Focaccia and wow, I wished there was more by the time I was done. Service was exceptional and would recommend to anyone in town or coming in for a visit! Cheers!

The city's vibrant arts scene is evident year-round, with various cultural groups actively participating in artistic endeavors. Public art installations adorn the streets, waterfronts, parks, and forests, enhancing the city's overall charm.

With its homey ambiance and delicious fare, Gere-a-Deli is a must-visit spot for those looking to enjoy traditional diner cuisine in a unique setting.
While the prices seemed a bit steep at first when I got my food it was well worth the price. I got the 12' Supremo and was only able to finish half. Also I've never gotten a pickle so big!

Team IceHole here doing a review, and let me tell you — GERE-a-DELI is next level. As a full-time content creator, I’ve eaten in a lot of places across the country, and this spot in Anacortes is hands down one of the best food stops I’ve ever hit. The sandwiches? Insane. The soups? Packed with flavor and loaded with hearty ingredients. And don’t even get me started on the desserts — the cheesecake and carrot cake were absolute perfection (and massive)! Everything here is made with love, served up with smiles, and the portions are huge — you’re getting real value and quality. The people working here treat you like family, and the old-school vibe of the place is just the cherry on top. If you’re anywhere near Anacortes and you don’t stop at Gere-a-Deli, you’re missing out big time. Whether you’re a local or traveling through, put this place at the top of your list. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best food. Dropped in for lunch on a Thursday around noon. There was a line to order but it went quickly. I was drawn in by the desserts in the case. Ended up ordering the Panda Bear & berry cobbler. We also ordered a BLT on sourdough & a Tuscan Chicken Sandwich. Both sandwiches were hot & fresh. Omg the panda bear dessert is Amazing!!! Devil’s food cake, icing then covered in chocolate!!! Omg delicious !! Staff was friendly. Highly recommend for a yummy lunch. (Reasonably priced $48.00 for 2 sandwiches with chips, 2 drinks, 2 desserts & tip).

Wow! This is a great place for lunch. The sandwiches are huge and delicious, so think about sharing. The clam chowder is the best I’ve had since my childhood in Oregon when we dug our own clams. None of that rubbery bits of clams in white gravy stuff at this place. And the berry cobbler, though different than my mother’s recipe, was superb. This place is a gem worth finding.

This is a busy place but for all the right reasons. Food is excellent and they're great at service as well. I wish I had room for a dessert because they looked amazing and it they're half as good as their sandwiches and soup and bread, I'm sure they're spectacular. If I'm in this area this is a must for lunch.

Whenever I am around Anacortes or the Deception Pass area I stop by to get a delicious sandwich and pickle! Everyone I’ve brought here also sing its praises, I have never gotten anything that missed the mark. Wonderful. I went with my family and everyone enjoyed their meal. Very good coffee. I had a Redneck Benedict. Perfect biscuits and super tasty gravy. Mom really enjoyed her yogurt and granola plate. Dad really liked his breakfast biscuit sandwich. My brother had the chilaquilles. (sp?). He thought the red sauce was very bland.

We originally booked this trip back in November, but a bomb cyclone forced us to reschedule (Ken was so accommodating). Fast forward to half a year later, and we finally got to go! I knew it would be a lovely trip, but my expectations were far exceeded! Our group consisted of four adults and two kids which is the max you can aboard since it's a small boat. Because it is a small boat, it's able to maneuver around things easily and get a little closer than a bigger boat could, plus everyone gets a front row seat. He took us to see harbor seals, sea lions, we saw porpoises, and most importantly, we saw orcas! We were all in complete awe of the pod of five we got to see diving and resurfacing. He stayed for a long time so we could get plenty of opportunities to see them. He cares about the wildlife, so we always stayed at a required distance to protect them (although we got lucky and on on one of the orcas dives, they resurfaced close to our boat!). Ken works closely with the other boats so that they're always in the loop of where to find them (and most importantly, communicate that information via channels to those who are qualified to be around them so that the wellbeing of the wildlife is always on the forefront). It's a responsible operation, and that was very important to us. Ken is very knowledgeable on the water (he used to operate a very large boat), he knows where wildlife hangs out and provided us with lots of fun facts along the way. He went above and beyond, including photographing everything we saw, and sharing the photos with us later that night. He even photographed our family waving at us from the shore as we were coming in :) It was a memorable experience and the highlight of our trip!

This was an amazing experience. Ken was a wonderful guide and went above and beyond to help us find a pod of orcas. His photography skills were also great and it was a huge bonus that he sent photos from the day to us! If you are anywhere near this area I highly recommend. We drive up from Seattle (about 1.5 hours and an easy day trip) We did the private tour that seats up to 6. We are a family of 4 (children ages 17 & 20).

We absolutely loved our time spent with Ken on the Spirit of Orca! Ken was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the orcas and other wildlife we saw! Seeing the orcas was amazing! It has been on my bucket list for a long time and I can’t wait to go out again! Definitely worth going out on the private tour. Thank you Ken for sharing your boat with us and making our trip so memorable! Thank you also for all the wonderful pictures you took. It was wonderful to not have to worry about getting pictures ourselves, we could just be in the moment and enjoy knowing that you were capturing them for us! THANK YOU!

Went out with Captain Ken to see some wildlife and the entire tour did not disappoint! We saw a whole pod of orcas, amazing birds, including the rhinoceros auklet, a type of puffin, and some humpback whales! If I sound knowledgeable, it’s only because I learned it all during the tour with Ken! He is a skilled sailor and knows the area and wildlife well. We enjoyed having the boat to ourselves and Ken curated our experience perfectly. He even took photos for us as it was challenging to capture much on an iPhone. Highly recommend!

Excellent afternoon Orca Whale watching by boat from Friday Harbor. We saw the T75Bs today with the city of Vancouver, BC, as the backdrop. Outstanding photos provided by Ken.

Park
Anacortes Community Forest Lands North is an extensive park system spanning over 2,800 acres of wetlands, meadows, forests, and lakes. It derives its name from the fact that it receives funding from contributions made by the Anacortes community to preserve the area. Situated below Mt Erie, this picturesque location offers free parking and serves as a fantastic launching point for kayaking or boating adventures around the lake.
A beautiful spot below Mt Erie. Part of the Anacortes Community lands, the parking is free. This is a great spot to launch the kayaks or boat for a trip around the lake. Or, it’s a quiet spot (weekdays during the summer) to come for a picnic or lay in the sun. There are compost bathrooms located up the road with garbage facilities. The grassy areas near the water make a perfect spot to lay out a blanket and enjoy the view.

Anacortes's most wonderful areas...you can ride your horse, mountain bike, motorcycle (in some areas) and bring the kids/dogs...the beauty is all around. There is old growth trees, lakes and other amazing sights. You will definitely want to either take a photos of the map on the kiosk when you enter or purchase trail maps at the local bookstore because the trails or endless and even locals get lost if not careful. If you really love the forest lands and want to "give back" for your experience there, make a donation to the Anacortes Community Forest Lands!

Wonderful, smarvelous piece of preserved natural forest with a well-marked series of trails. I've visited four times over the last week and taken a different route every time. Thank yOu to those who set this land aside and made and maintain the trails. Note - Google Maps' directions to the location near the Predators of the Heart animal sanctuary do not provide the best access. Best approach is to visit the City of Anacortes website and download the pdf maps to your mobile device and pick an access point from those. Having the maps to refer to along your hike is handy too since there are so many trails to explore.

Near town and well maintained trails. Great place to go for a hike.

Hmmm, lots of forest...lots of trails...would only want more maps...

A beautiful park! There was a wide path that went through the picturesque forest, plus several smaller trails that branched off from the wide trail. I didn't get to spend much time here, so I will need to come back another day, but I really enjoyed the time I did have here. Beautiful. No motorcycles permitted.
RaeRae H — Google review
Well marked trails, lots to explore
Jessica L — Google review
Used to be a great place to ride the trails on my motorcycle with my kids. But now, because hikers, and cyclers think they need ALL the trails, it's now closed to ATV's. There are only two places to ride now on this side of the state. Hikers and cyclers get millions of miles of trails in this state alone, why do they have to take even more? Greedy environmentalists.

Washington Park, located at the western end of Fidalgo Island, is a stunning 220-acre city park offering a range of outdoor activities. The park features camping facilities, a boat launch, and day-use picnic sites. Visitors can explore picturesque Sunset Beach with its boat launch and children's playground area or head to Green Point for hiking trails that offer breathtaking views of Burrows Bay, the San Juan Islands, and the Olympic Mountain range.
Nice paved path but something to note is cars are allowed to take the path also, in one direction only. (Counterclockwise) I took advice from All Trails and walked clockwise so I could see the incoming traffic. Helpful as my dog was with me. Enjoyable day.

Gorgeous views! Beautiful scenery and trees! Shaded campsites! Lovely hiking trails. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were often dirty. Only one shower was working in the women’s restroom in the campground. When someone showered the entire bathroom floor became wet.
Anne W — Google review
Beautiful park with stunning views. We really enjoyed the natural beauty of the area gorgeous scenery and a peaceful setting. The grounds are well-maintained, and the abundance of trash cans throughout the park makes it easy to keep things clean and accessible. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining the outdoor spaces, and we appreciated how tidy everything was. That said, signage could be improved—especially around Loop C. From the road, all you see is the exit sign pointing left, and it looks like going right would take you directly through someone’s campsite. We ended up looping around before realizing that the “campsite path” was actually the road to the rest of the campground. For first-time visitors, the lack of clear directional signage was a bit frustrating. Unfortunately, the women’s restroom facilities really need attention. We stayed for four nights, and it didn’t appear they were cleaned at all during that time. Trash bins were full, soap dispensers were empty for over 24 hours, and the showers were in rough shape, one wouldn’t drain, and overall cleanliness was poor. The staff was responsive when we called for firewood, and we appreciated how prompt they were. I just wish that same level of attentiveness was applied to the restrooms and shower

Great place to watch the sunset! Photos are near the park entrance. There are pavilions with huge BBQ grills that can be rented for big parties. There’s also a playground for kids. It has a 2 mile loop that you can either hike or drive around! No excuse for enjoying nature! Parking plenty and entrance is free!

A fantastic walk in a beautiful area. My first time visiting Anacortes and stumbled upon this area when I had some time to kill. Its a little over 2 miles going in a loop with a ton of spots off the beaten path for site seeing. The main path is paved, but be on the lookout for cars as they can drive on it and you'll have to move off the path. Aside from that though, it was a fantastic experience!

A'Town Bistro is a charming restaurant in Anacortes, offering farm-to-table New American cuisine with an open kitchen and a selection of craft beers on tap. Situated near Anacortes Maritime Heritage Center and W T Preston, it's a great choice for those exploring the area. The menu features delightful French and Italian dishes, with highlights such as shellfish chowder, Moules Frites, and beet salads.
A'Town Bistro is a boutique eating experience. All local stuff, nicely prepared and finished exquisitely. I've had better paella, but only in a very chic restaurant in San Francisco. Our service was inpersonal, by a family friend who is a real professional and pleasant to boot. The tables are close together, but the crowd is friendly. I recommend A'Town Bistro again and again.

Hands down the best clam chowder I have EVER had. I just wish they served it by the gallon.. you will too. The smoked duck toast was perfectly paired with smooth ricotta and macerated fig, giving just a touch of sweetness to balance out the savory. Experience was great. The ambiance was a quaint boutique feel and would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Food came out very quickly, we were able to pop in and out in under an hour as we had an excursion to get to. If you have the opportunity to be waited on by Jessica, your experience will even better. She was all smiles and friendly vibes the whole time.
L Z — Google review
My father-in-law couldn’t stop praising the food at the restaurant — everything was delicious, though the clam chowder was a little too salty, both the soup and the pork. We also felt that the dessert menu should have been presented earlier, as we were too full by the time we saw it to order anything sweet. The staff were professional and very attentive. When a baby high chair was unavailable, they went the extra mile to find a suitable alternative. They also took the time to explain which plates were meant for which dishes and made sure to check in with us about how the food was. Another lovely touch: the children’s menu was presented in the form of a storybook. While waiting for the food, I let my daughter read it. When the staff noticed she was getting bored reading the same book, they thoughtfully brought us two more storybooks. It was a very sweet gesture that made us feel well cared for. Overall, a thoughtful and well-trained team that made the experience very pleasant.

This is some of the best food I have ever had in WA State. I don’t know where to begin. The Scottish egg, amazing, the French onion soup, as spectacular as it was scalding. I am so glad we stopped here. This place was amazing.

I always have a hard time rating high end food as it's hard to justify $100 steaks but the price to quality level here was pretty great. Got the Duck L'Orange and Black Cod. Both were pretty great but the duck stole the show.

Yummy!!!! We came during “social hour” with a limited menu. So so so good. We had the Scotch eggs, clam chowder, tiger shrimp, patatas, and Caesar salad. So so so good. The scotch eggs and Patatas were lick your plate clean good! We also had beignets and sorbet as well as a couple of old fashioneds. This place was so good. I literally cannot say that with enough exclamation points. Our waiter Tim was top notch!!

Frida's Gourmet Mexican Cuisine is a charming restaurant located in downtown Anacortes, paying homage to the renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The decor is adorned with her iconic paintings, creating a unique and artistic ambiance. This boutique eatery offers a blend of traditional Mexican dishes and innovative modern cuisine, all named after prominent Mexican painters and cultural figures.
Truly a welcoming restaurant. Despite being the last hour they were open and a huge art festival set up happening outside the staff was more than gracious when we arrived. I had the best crunchy tacos I’ve had in a long time! Chicken in corn tortillas fried to perfection. My sister had a version of chile rellenos which was delicious as well. Covered in a creamy green sauce not to spicy for her or I. I was lucky enough to steal a bite! Both entrees came with rice and beans. Nothing spectacular but just right with the dinners. And the beans were served in a cute little tortilla chip that was a fun way to eat. I did have a margarita but my sister did. And she kept saying wow! This is good. Which I know is a good sign. Definitely highly recommended to come here for dinner.

3/25/2025: The two of us stopped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The decor is very warm and welcoming, high ceilings and art of Frida Kahlo. Service very friendly and attentive. We ordered margarita, sangria, guacamole, steak fajitas, and chiles mathias goeritz. Everything was delicious. The menu has gourmet and traditional items you'd find at other Mexican restaurants. I loved seeing gourmet dishes not normally found and was happy to try something I don't normally see.

First off, the food is delicious so on that point alone I’d definitely be back. The only slight downside is that the service seems a bit chaotic and unorganized. Not unfriendly, just rushed and confused even though it was not busy.
Tisha A — Google review
Great atmosphere. Loved that they have a broad selection of wines from the way too under represented baja california wine country. Server was extremely friendly and helpful. The cooking style is from mexico city and southern mexico and a refreshing change from the exact same burritos, enchiladas and fajitas that show up at every other mexican restaurant in washington. I ordered duck breast en mole and it was sweet savory and delicious.

Cute but aged Mexican restaurant. Love the Frida artwork and touch of fresh flowers but menu prices outside don’t reflect the newly updated prices. Plan for a 20-30% increase in prices on their actual menu once you’re seated. Food was decent and service was really fast. Would recommend looking at other restaurants before coming here.
Anna W — Google review
Visited 7-21-25. Walk-ups, party of two. We have visited this place annually over the past 10 years. Both the service and the food had always been excellent. That night however, the service was absolutely horrid, from being lied to three times about the wait time (we were initially told ten minutes, and then 15 minutes later told ten more minutes, and then ten minutes later told ten more minutes), to the table service once were were seated, with forgotten order items, drinks, etc. The only dining staff on duty that night was an older gentleman who acted as host and server, and a young gal, who only provided buss services. When the bill came, the older gentleman apologized for only the wait, and blamed it on the establishment being busy. I found this to be a bit funny, since it was he and he alone who was controlling the volume of patrons in the place. He knew I knew that he had done a shitty job all around. Ordinarily, I'm a 30% tipper in establishments we love to patronize. This night however, I was a 0% tipper. I refuse to award bad service. I wish I could have tipped the cook directly, as again the food was excellent.

I've been here quite a lot and the food is consistently pretty good. And I love the atmosphere and the creative menu. But the last few times I've gone the house margaritas were tasteless (others at the table agreed). Not sure if they were short on bartenders or using old mix or what, but they were inexcusably bad. I hope they fix this bc I like going there... but c'mon.

Mount Erie Summit Trail is a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking breathtaking views and scenic hikes. The journey begins just south of Anacortes and offers stunning vistas that include iconic landmarks like Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, and the majestic Olympic Mountains on clear days.
This area is part of the Anacortes Community Forest Lands. You can drive to the summit or hike up. The top has two parking lots and 1 porta john. Between the two, it can accommodate 15 cars without too much hassle. The hikes aren't too difficult, but it's a lot of vertical. You can choose to drive part way up and start your hike a bit closer to the top too.any nearby trails.

Nonna was an absolute find! The food was incredible, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was super inviting. Everything we ordered was so delicious and the portions were huge! The menu was also huge and it was so hard to decide what to get. Everything was piping hot and flavorful. The decor inside was very Italian so you’ll feel right at home. Good evening everyone, Today's review will be on an Italian restaurant in Anacortes WA called Nina Luisa Ristorante. We showed up to the restaurant around 8pm. Upon entering the restaurant we were quickly greeted and did not have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table. We had a nice little both near the front of the restaurant. The only thing is it's not a huge restaurant so the booths are a little small so when you get appetizers and bread etc the table gets filled up very quickly with plates. We had a couple appetizers like; mussels, clams and bruschetta all of which were very delicious. They don't have a huge menu but what they do have when you order the plate size is very considerable. Let me put it this way, it's a medium too expensive restaurant. For me, I ordered (pollo) cacciatore but when the food arrived it was a generous portion- so that was a relief. All of our meals were cooked well, tasted good and no one had any problems with any of the food we ordered. where the restaurant is located is very quaint and I would definitely recommend eating here or at least giving it a try. Like I mentioned earlier, it's a medium too expensive restaurant so with four people it was near $200. I Hope this helps everyone and enjoy your eating experiences everyone! James...

After flying in from Florida we were starving so we arrived at the restaurant at 4:30 pm without a reservation. After reviewing the list of specials with our server we decided on the eggplant appetizer, the ravioli with butternut squash (Ravioli Zucca) & a mushroom pasta both from the special menu. The food was amazing. !! Fresh & delicious. The complimentary bread was hot & delicious! Service was spot on too. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Anacortes.

Wanted to try something new for our 35th anniversary so we drove the hour because of the reviews. This was the perfect place. From the moment we walked in the door every team member was warm and went above and beyond. And the food was incredible. We split a Caeser (yum), the fresh pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauces were wonderful. If you like seafood (we don't) there are a lot of options. We're not drinkers (hence the low amount we spent per person), but the tables around us ordered wine and they clearly have many choices. Highly recommend.
Alana N — Google review
We've come here a second time now. I struggled with giving them three versus four stars and erred on the side of three. I really like that all of their recipes are house made. They have a lot of different options that go well together, however I feel that due to them having such an extensive specials menu, they lack putting in enough to each dish individually. We've been to countless Itslian restaurants, from California to Mew York, across the state, and when we spent 2 weeks touring small towns in Italy. The food here is decent, and will be better than the next Italian restaurant 20 mins away. But the dishes we've gotten have always been a little underwhelming. Tonight I got the risotto special with the braised pork ragu. The risotto had great texture, and the ragu was honestly great - tender and flavorful. But the risotto and red sauce that the ragu was braised in lacked flavor. The only word I can use is "bland." My husband got the Braciola, which is something I make at home during holidays, and have had at a neighboring restaurant in Bellinham. Here it was very dry, and the ingredients weren't incorporated properly, resulting in it to be dry meat with random chunks of ingredients falling out of it, instead of a conducive dish. I think this restaurant has great potential. I think with a little more attention to detail and care with the dishes, even if that means a longer wait or shorter menu, will really make this place stand out. In the meantime I would not recommend someone to go out of their way to try them, unfortunately.
Tif T — Google review
A spur of the moment decision led to a restaurant we will remember for a lifetime! While passing through the area we decided to randomly have dinner at this establishment, it was about 4:30 on a random week day afternoon. I get the feeling this is the type of place you typically need a reservation for and we got lucky. The second we walked in we knew we picked somewhere very special! Our waitress was amazing, the food was INSANE!!! My first time having Cannelloni and it was seriously divine like I don't think I've ever used that word before. You just have to taste it to see what I mean! Thank you for treating us so well and making a trip even more enjoyable! Can't wait to return and try even more dishes.

Friends had their wedding here of about 50 guest. The ceremony was outside while the reception was within the small venue. The view was beautiful and park was very clean. Great for walking or picnic and also had a skatepark nearby. Lots of boats coming in and going out.

Beautiful place to catch a sunrise, (but you'll want to check if the sun will be visible or behind Cap Sante depending on the time of year.) There is also a facility to host weddings or events on the property. The park overlooks Cap Sante marina as well and you can watch the boats coming and going or have a picnic at one of the tables. Anacortes is a beautiful place to spend the day.

Lovely little park with a rocky beach. If you want to swim there, you will need water shoes for sure! Nice area for families.

Beautiful spot to eat lunch, swim, watch the boats coming in and out of the Marina! A magnificent view of Mt Baker. You can walk the dock and it also has great music venues during summer months. Super fun place to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July also.

Very nice! A couple of monuments, a club house. Nice beach area and a nice place for a club sailing small sailboats.

We love this place and come here alot...sometimes to eat lunch and watch the boats pass by, sometimes when it's stormy out to come see the wild waves hitting the little sailboats and most the time we are here is for my daughter to practice her competitive cheer/gymnastics. The grass is always well kept and trimmed down low and it's just a beautiful place with a cute little beach right in the middle of town.

If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure, Outer Island Excursions in Anacortes offers fantastic whale watching tours and fishing charters that you won't want to miss. With a friendly and knowledgeable crew, including experienced captains and naturalists, you'll embark on a journey into the stunning waters of the Pacific Northwest. Passengers can expect to see majestic humpback whales, playful orcas, and even grey whales during their excursions.
This literally could not have gone any better. Our crew was Brooke, Drew, and Sam. They were all incredibly kind, knowledgeable, informative, interactive, and funny. Like actually funny, I'm not just saying that. They really go above and beyond to make sure you are having a good time and get a chance to see everything. They definitely went above and beyond for us when my partner's hat flew off his head. They literally turned around and fished it out of the water 🥹 seriously can they be any sweeter!? We were able to see a humback whale, Victory, playing in the kelp. We also got to see a pod of orcas with 4 generations and a baby in tow! I almost cried. Plenty of ocean birds, seals, and porpoises, but the whales were of course the highlight of the show. It's very clear that the crew not only loves their jobs but loves whales, loves the ocean, and wants to keep this place beautiful and clean for generations to come. When a plastic bag was spotted the crew fished it out. Everyone that was on our tour was respectful and considerate. We had such an amazing time and not only will I highly recommend Outer Island Excursions to people I know but I would love to go on a tour with them again. I've never been a repeat customer or any tour before but it really doesn't get better than the experience we had here. Worth every penny!

We had the best time. The weather was absolutely beautiful. It was chilly so bring layers. We were on the boat with the three Ts (Thomas, Trevor, Tiffany). They did a fantastic job at pointing out specific animals and an eagle’s nest as well as providing information about the area. We got to see 2 different pods of orcas, eagles, seals, and sea lions. Definitely recommend using this company for whale watching.
Widnelly C — Google review
We did the Anacortes tour option and it was great! The crew was amazing and the boat was a smooth ride. The whole reason we were in the area was to live out my life goal of seeing wild orcas and we did! We were a little late for orca season and the good weather, but the crew spotted them at the very end of the trip. They were the only tour boat to find them that day! Special shoutout to Kate for helping my husband reschedule our original tour when I ended up in the ER, and for being so enthusiastic and optimistic.

Highly Recommend ❤️I've been out on the Bird Tour 3 times this season! Loved each trip and always so unique, you see different things each time. Also had 3 different captains & naturalist who were all friendly, helpful and so knowledgeable about the wildlife we saw. Added 2 birds to my life list the Horned Puffin & Manx Sheerwater. Living here and being on the water often these seeing these life birds was so exciting. The captains also understand photography lighting and get you lined up for best shots possible

Today, our family embarked on an unforgettable whale watching adventure with Outer Island Excursion aboard the Blackfish II. Captain Drew and marine biologist Natalia were exceptional hosts! We were thrilled to spot numerous pods of orcas, including two that showcased an impressive behavior known as a skyhop. Our journey began just outside the harbor, and for nearly three hours, we followed various pods as they swam gracefully through the water. What a remarkable experience!

This is a phenomenal deal! We saw humpback whales and sea lion seals 🦭 in mid/late October. It was breathtaking. The crew was extremely friendly as well with sealife facts and they were quick to answer any questions. They offered food and beverages on board which felt like a livesaver on the cold and long voyage.
Damian M — Google review
We loved our whale watching experience. The guides were so knowledgeable and approachable. We felt more like friends at the end. We saw Transient killed whales and sea lions, seals and many birds. I would suggest bringing many layers and some snacks and drinks. Would definitely go again, and maybe try a different time of year and see if there are different wildlife to see.
Hannah G — Google review
We were looking for a whale watching experience near Bellingham and this place came recommended! Super easy to book tickets last minute (the night before). We’ve done some whale watching in Alaska so were’t sure what to expect but the boat was really nice with plenty of places to watch (inside on cushioned seats or standing on either level). Their goal is to make sure you see whales and boy did we! They found an orca pod with a huge male and a little baby who was constantly jumping around and playing. The guides (we had Brooke, Isabelle, Megan who were awesome!) are very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions and tell you all about the whales or other wildlife. Overall definitely worth it!

We had such an incredible time on our kayak tour in Anacortes! The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely safe the entire time. They had everything we needed, from high-quality gear to clear instructions, which made it super easy and enjoyable, even for beginners. One of the highlights was learning about the local seaweed and its many uses. It was such a fun and educational experience. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

We had a great time Kayaking with Anacortes Kayak Tours. We booked a 1.5 hour kayak tour on a Sunday evening. It started at 4pm. Our guide Alec did a great job at giving us instructions and helping us out getting started. He was knowledgable about the surrounding areas and did a good job at pointing out specific places and different things to look out for. He pointed out a couple of different sea birds, showed us where to look for the sea cucumbers, and took us to a really cool cave! Overall it was a great trip and we are excited to book out next trip!

We did a 3 hour tour on sunday with Shelem and we were stunned!!! The wildlife we have seen was so beautiful - seals, bald eagle and even a humpback whale in the distance. Our guide Shelem was amazing, he provided us a lot of interesting information about the currents, kayaking and the wildlife. 10/10 ! We will be back! Hugo & Sarah

Addie was our guide and we had a fun 1.5 kayak tour of Bowman bay and surrounding area. As our first time in sea kayaks we were excited to head out. Addie gave us tons of educational info that was cool and interesting. Although we didn't sea orcas breaching over our kayaks like we'd dreamed of, we did see plant life, fish, crab, seals on rocks, and "Ellie Mae" the female elephant seal on shore. 1.5 tour was the perfect amount of time for our day. We even got to taste bull keep leaves- tasty but also very salty lol! Thanks for a great tour Addie!!

I booked a 5-hr tour as a single kayaker, and I had a fantastic experience. My guide, Gabe, was excellent and very helpful to ensure a great trip. He answered all my questions with enthusiasm and knowledge. It was my first time in a longer sea kayak with a rudder, and he explained the boat and conditions well to give me confidence on the water. It was a beautiful day, and we went around Burrows and Allan Islands - in all, around 8.5miles. We saw some interesting birds and plenty of seals. Whenever I return to WA, I plan to do a multi-day tour! Thank you AKT for a memorable experience.

We had the best time on our 1.5 hour kayak tour with AKT! Our guide, Gabe, was hospitable and informative and helpful. The parking, arrival, launch, tour, etc. were all simple and clear. Little Cranberry Lake is a charming lake situated on Fidalgo Island, forming the heart of a 10-mile natural corridor within Anacortes Community Forest Lands. Originally a small pond, it was deepened through damming in the early 20th century and has now become a popular spot for swimming in northwestern Washington State. The lake also hosts the annual What the Heck Fest summer music festival.
My favorite place to hike and kayak, and right next to the beaver ponds, which have some of the most diverse wildlife in the area. There are even carnivorous plants on the bog islands in the middle of the lake!

The Guemes Channel Trail, along with the Ship Harbor Trail, offers a delightful escape for those waiting for the ferry in Anacortes. These interconnected trails meander along the scenic shoreline, providing stunning views of passing ferries and tranquil waters. Starting from the Anacortes ferry terminal, you can stroll eastward to reach the Ship Harbor Interpretive Trail boardwalk. This short yet picturesque trail spans 0.35 miles through sandy beaches and wetlands before leading you to the Guemes Channel Trail.
Perfect trail to go on a walk and enjoy the sunset. It was just magical to watch the ferries go by with the sun setting in the background.

Beautiful paved trail that is exactly 1 mile long. I thought it would be 1.5 miles based on AllTrails, but there is a locked fence at the 1-mile mark. Good spot for a short run.
Kerry C — Google review
There seem to be two trails... one is unpaved/wooden walkway with access to the sand beach, ...the other is paved and straight as a converted railway going next to a bluff about two feet above the water and twice as long. In-between is a parking lot. The one that is along the beach has access to the Anacortes Ferry dock. Another access is the "Roadside park" which goes straight down the stairs/trail, which is on most maps, at Kansas st.

If you want an easy walk on a cement path next to the ocean, this is a lovely trail. This is the trail on the right from the Ship Harbor Interpretive Trail cul de sac parking area. I walked half an hour and approached the marina but did not get to the end of the path. The trail felt very safe at 6:30 - 7:00 pm on a Saturday with people walking dogs, kids riding bikes, and people just enjoying walking. On one side are stones leading down to the water, and you can hear the lapping water. On the other side of the path is a thick wall of vegetation. It has a nice view of the San Juan islands, and I saw a cormorant fishing in the water.

The Anacortes Community Theatre is a great venue for the performing arts. The latest production of Enchanted April by Matthew Barber was well-received, featuring characters such as Lotty, Rose, Lady Caroline and Mrs. Graves who represented different emotions and stages of life for women. The supporting cast including Costanza, Mellersh, Frederick and Mr. Wilding played their parts well on stage. The set design was impressive and added to the believability of the show.

Island Adventures offers whale-watching and wildlife-viewing boat tours around the San Juan Islands with guaranteed sightings from March through November. The Pacific Northwest's diverse wildlife, stunning scenery, and calm waters make for an incredible experience. Guests often spot harbor seals, sea lions, porpoises, bald eagles, and various seabirds.
My companion and I had the most amazing experience today with Island Adventures. I can’t recommend this experience enough. The entire crew was extremely knowledgeable about the area, history, and ocean life, which added an additional element of pleasure to the trip. Each and every person I encountered, such as Tyson and Sam, were kind, funny, easy to talk to, and very welcoming. On board, everything was clean, the passengers were happy, and they also offered snacks and souvenirs for purchase. The experience was amazing from start to finish, with breathtaking views of the islands, orcas, bald eagles, seals, porpoise, and other marine life. It truly was the perfect day and well worth the trip of admission. Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone thinking about it, and I will definitely be back the next time I’m in Washington.

Had an awesome time seeing all the amazing wildlife and breathtaking views! Amy did an excellent job explaining all the nature and our captain did a great job following 2 packs of orcas for almost 2 hrs! Not to mention the captains top tier jokes. Definitely recommend!

Went out with Island Adventures today (Friday ) @ noon. The boat is beautiful. Perfectly designed for comfortable whale watching. The boat was about 75% full. It was easy to move around to see everything. We purchased a coffee & hot chocolate to enjoy during the ride. Both were hot, fresh & delicious. We saw several harbor seals & searched in Canadian waters for the star of the day …one humpback who was feeding. The crew was knowledgeable. We enjoyed our time on the boat & watching our whale feed !
Terri D — Google review
I took my ocean loving 6 year old for a tour yesterday (5/18/25) and we had the best time! The boat was smooth and safe. The captain and the crew were knowledgeable, kind and had great senses of humor. Serena in the sea store really made my day with her kindness. We saw a ton of wildlife and there was information about every animal we saw as well as some information about the islands we were crossing through. Prices were very reasonable in the store and the boat was comfortable and spacious. I cannot recommend them enough and we will be coming back again and again!!!
Rebecca C — Google review
The crew is amazing, boat is cleaned/well maintained, and trip is an adventure of a life time. It was our first trip to Washington and one to remember because of this tour. We saw a humpback whale, a Grey whale, sea lions, seals, Harbour porpoise, bald eagles and many more birds that Tyson wonderfully identified. The views alone on the boat are well worth it.
Emily J — Google review
The new Historical Tour Cruise all around Fidalgo Island IS GREAT! We were first time customers and thoroughly enjoyed this boat and the experience. Next month we will try whale watching on the same boat. Gorgeous three level ship with inside and outside seating. Little shop to buy drinks and snacks and other things. It was so fantastic to go under Deception Pass Bridge and see La Conner and everything else from the water. We saw seals, eagles , osprey, etc. It was narrated by a Anacortes museum docent and a member of the First Peoples and a Naturalist. So much expertise!! We want to go again!! Great work, y’all!!
Barbara C — Google review
Absolutely outstanding whale watching company. Their boat is a 100 foot long beauty with three decks, lots of indoor and outdoor seating and due to its twin hulls very smooth riding. Speeding along at 25 knots we went up to the Canadian border to find the Orca whales. There was a group of up to 9 or 10 of all sizes for our viewing pleasure. On our way back to Anacortes the captain received a report of humpback whales and detoured our route to let us see them. It was an outstanding day for the whole family.
Ray H — Google review
We did the 5p tour on 8/11 and had a great experience on Island Adventurers—it was a beautiful night to be on the water. I was hesitant to book at the per person cost, but after talking with a lady to get some questions answered, I figured if I wanted to see orcas this was my best shot while in the area. The lady told me orcas are their first priority, and that was true in our experience—we went far west to the strait of Juan de Fuca, and sure enough—we saw orca pod T46!! It was absolutely amazing to see the orcas in the wild. Our naturalist on board did a great job of teaching us about the orcas and the specific pod. My *only* complaint is I wish we could have gotten closer to the orcas, but I realize the boats are not supposed to interfere and have to stay back. We watched them for about 45+ minutes before departing since we were so far out. On the way back we also saw one humpback whale that we stopped to watch, and then we had to get back. I appreciate that they stayed out longer since we had to go so far to see the orcas—we got back right before 9p. All in all this experience was excellent and I don’t hesitate to recommend Island Adventures. The boat was in tip top shape, restrooms were extremely clean, well maintained. The captain and crew were awesome. The boat ride back was beautiful as the sun continued to set, with incredible views of Mt Baker and the surrounding landscape. Be sure to take layers and sun screen! It was quite chilly once we got moving when outside.

I love walking this trail but the bikes can be very disrespectful. They often come up behind my reactive dog and me at high speed and without notice. Swinomish Casino & Lodge is a laid-back hotel offering a restaurant, buffet, and bar. The casino features table games, slots, and regular events. In the surrounding area of Anacortes, there are various dining options to explore for breakfast or brunch. Visitors can find a mix of casual eateries and upscale restaurants nearby.
Great RV spots behind the resort! Wonderful view over looking the water. Nice and quiet. Spots are well maintained and all services for our trailer were readily available and in great working order. Check in and out was very easy and available online through a welcome email that had all relevant information relating to our stay. Staff at the front counter were very friendly and helpful. Cafe had a great selection of diner style food. We had breakfast and all dishes were just as amazing as our waitress. Highly recommend this resort. Casino floor was super clean and inviting. Only problem was I lost a couple hundred bucks at the slots. LOL

A great central location to explore the area. The rooms are clean and serviceable, lovely views (that the bedside chargers never work is a fixable annoyance). The cold water bottles in the mini-fridge are always a joy after traveling. Staff is always friendly. I LOVE that they prioritize non-smokers in the Casino.
Ariel F — Google review
Very nice rooms and was clean. Comfortable bed and I had a great nights sleep. Good breakfast and coffee. Front desk was kind and helpful. It was reasonably priced. Lots of restaurants to choose from. I would stay here again if I was in the area!

Swinomish Casino was a gambling stop for me. The Casino has improved immensely over the years as I had not been there since 2019. Good atmosphere and wonderful staff. I had dropped my keys and a slot technician found them for me, I think once I reported them lost the casino notified the staff to look around. A very good experience! The slots are good play and I ended up about even - small bonuses. I did see some decent payouts, including a $1,900 payout on a $3.75 bet. Highly recommend for a visit for a variety of good slots.

Stopped on our way back from Canada for a night’s stay. The room was very spacious and extremely clean. We ate dinner at the Sports Bar and had a very good reasonably priced meal. When you make a reservation online there is no way to request a military discount. The receptionist told us that if you call the lodge to make your reservation they will give you a military discount for active duty and veterans. It made a significant difference. Would highly recommend stopping and/or staying at the Swinomish Lodge.

I paid for an upgrade. North facing view room. Worthless. I could NOT sleep 1 hr. The AC n Kitchen exhaust fans were soo loud. They are located in the North West side of the Lodge. I was on the top Floor with balcony. Complained to the manager but nothing was done If u visit go with north EAST room away from all the kitchen Ve n ta n AC units I doubt I'd go there again. Pardon my Typos.

The staff is absolutely wonderful and the rooms were beautiful. We had a Suite on the top floor with a balcony over looking the water. Beautiful views, can't wait to come back again.

I’ll delete this review as soon as I receive a logical explanation as to why it took you 18 MONTHS to notify your guests that their personal information was compromised when your systems were hacked last year. I don’t think any reasonable person would fault you for failing to prevent that hack, but it happened in early April of 2024 and the notification letter I just received is dated from one week ago. What good is your offer of free identity/credit monitoring at this point? What took you so long?

Hiking Trails
Sharpe Park is a serene and spectacular park located by the shore, offering an array of hiking trails with varying difficulty levels. While none are too challenging, it's important to note that most "loop" trails are not actually full loops due to private property restrictions. Nevertheless, the park is well-marked and provides breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and surrounding islands.
Went there kind of last minute. There are so many great places in and near Anacortes. The views were just incredible! There are many well marked trails & we only saw 2 other people there as we were leaving. The forest area was beautiful & we were on the Sares Head Trail & Porpoise Point Trail. Like others have mentioned there are many switchbacks going down with rocks& roots sticking up, so you just have to watch your footing down. I have a fear of heights & of falling, so I did not feel comfortable at all times going down. Some parts of Porpoise are pretty steep if you aren't an experienced hiker. I was glad we didn't see anyone else there on the trail as I was quite anxious going down. I'm definitely glad I visited & did the Porpoise Point trail because the views are just stunning!!
Leslie M — Google review
One of my absolute favorite hikes—truly breathtaking! A variety of trails lead through stunning landscapes, with towering trees, vibrant flowers, and fascinating succulents. Birds fill the air with their songs, and the water views are nothing short of spectacular. My kiddos handled the trail like champs, making it a perfect family adventure! There is a bathroom at the entrance so make sure to use it before hand! Decent amount of parking too. Highly recommend taking a picture of the map so you can kind of see where you are going, the trailheads do have names on them too.
Danielle — Google review
Really nice park with extensive trail system. For the most part, all trails are clearly marked; even at intersections. Please note: There is a sign missing from Porpoise and Sunburst. Along the trails there is an occasional bench. Walking and hiking only. No bikes. Dog friendly - met quite a few along the trails which was nice to see. Strollers could go on main trails but there are many roots and rocks. Parking lot has a toilet, good information, parking for about 10-15 cars, and paper trail maps (along side of signage board) or QR code for online maps. Just off the parking is a small field with two picnic tables.
Slim S — Google review
My first time visiting here and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I only took the Sares Viewpoint trail, but it was a pleasant little hike. It was very easy and didn't take long at all, I don't think it's even quite a mile in length, but it takes you to a beautiful rocky area with a bench and lovely views. There's a restroom at the trailhead/parking lot, the trails are dog friendly, but not horse or bike friendly, and there are several areas with very uneven ground so it isn't wheelchair friendly either.
RaeRae H — Google review
Spectacular views after relatively short well-marked hikes - but just be aware that the hikes feel about twice as long because of all the dips and rises as you walk. Nothing dangerous (unless you do something very unwise) but you'll definitely get your cardio! We did Sares Head to the overlook, then the Sunburst Trail to the Madrone Trail. Two (long) miles. Note that the Madrone Trail does not "contain" lots of Madrone trees, but it'll take you to them. We saw the majority of the Madrones along the Sunburst Trail. Beautiful!!!
Emily G — Google review
My absolute favorite sunset view. During my vacation in Anacortes I've been here at least 6 times to watch the beautiful sunset. It's a 15-20 min hike from the parking spot to the head. My pictures are from 4 different nights ☀️
Mie B — Google review
Who knew such a stunning overlook was so close to deception pass. I'll definitely be going back here in the near future. The system of trails located here makes it a very wonderful place to explore the diversity of the coastal plant life while. The hikes were also very manageable to the average skilled hiker.
Natalie N — Google review
Quick hike through the woods and you end up on cliffs looking west over the Puget Sound and Straight of Juan De Fuca. The main trail to Sares Head is fairly easy and about 1 mile each way. There are roots and rocks in the trail so no wheelchairs. If you get onto some of the other trails they can be very skinny and right near cliff edges and also quite strenuous with steep inclines and declines. All the trails are fairly short. A friend and I spent 3 hours out here and walked almost all the trails.

The perfect spot to take in the views, sunsets are great. There are benches, and it’s a very dog friendly park. Clean and well maintained, this is a private /non city/state park, but open to the public. Usually a good ending spot for a long walk in Skyline. Parking is free on the street.

Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Guemes Channel and Guemes Island while observing boat and ferry traffic. The park provides a serene setting for relaxation and photography with its sandy beach and beautiful sunsets. Beautiful quiet love the sun sets. This park on the Anacortes side on your way to the San Juan San Juan islandsyou can also take the San Juan ferry to Friday harbor

A pretty little rocky beach area, but a bit loud because it's right next to the ferry dock. I still enjoyed myself, there is a bench on the trail that overlooks the water and a picnic table at the very beginning of the trail. It was nice, but I won't be back unless I'm there for the ferry.
RaeRae H — Google review
Kiwanis waterfront park is a nice park to visit and photograph. A picnic site and benches. Playground set. Nice views of Guernes channel and Guernes Island.
Robert A — Google review
It's a nice little stop. The ferry ride is next to it so there is a visitor area with bathrooms. That was really convenient since we stopped with our kids on our drive to Anacortes.
Rehana A — Google review
A nice quiet spot to catch a sunset or ships go by. Right next to the Guemes ferry dock so that can be handy too for a quick walk on trip over for ice cream!

Nestled in Anacortes, Roadside Park is a delightful retreat that offers visitors a serene escape. This charming spot is perfect for those looking to enjoy a peaceful picnic or take a break while waiting for the ferry. The park features access to the Guemes Channel trail, which provides an opportunity for scenic walks along the waterfront. While there are some stairs leading down to the trail, the stunning views make it well worth the effort.
It is just a very small grassy area. Go down the stairs for the gorgeous views.
Manda H — Google review
Good place to walk the shore. Paved trail, although there is a steep trail with stairs, but goes all the way to Anacortes Ferry dock. Last part of trail goes on a board walk and sand beach. The other direction goes to a cyclone fence and a closer look to the huge wooden boat that has become a break-water for decades.
Bj H — Google review
Nice little hike but lots of stairs to get down to water
Tyler J — Google review

"Roadside Park in Anacortes is a hidden gem! It's a nice spot for a peaceful break or a quaint picnic, especially if you're waiting for a ferry. Nearby, the Guemes Channel trail is an added bonus for those who enjoy a scenic walk. Be prepared for some stairs to access the trail, but the effort is worth it. Whether you're looking for a place to unwind or a gentle adventure, Roadside Park is a fine choice.
Alley C — Google review
Good little park with trail and stairs down to the midway point of the Guemes Channel Trail. Handful of parking spots. The transition out of the parking lot to the road is sharp, so be careful. There's nothing to do here but walk down to the trail or have a picnic without an ocean view. We chose to drive down to the trailhead but from above there were well-maintained stairs and a gravel trail. We saw the bottom of the trail and it included more well-maintained stairs and a bench for some possibly needed rest. This trail is a shortcut to view the La Merced shipwreck (note that you can only view it from afar without trespassing). You can choose Roadside Park and have a shorter walk with a steep climb or drive to the trailhead for a longer but flat walk. Was my review helpful? Please give a like.

Scott Milo Gallery is a beloved art space that attracts both locals and visitors. The gallery features new shows every one or two months, showcasing a diverse range of artists and styles, including paintings, sculpture, jewelry, and more. The airy and bright space offers a well-curated selection of local artwork in various mediums such as canvas, glass, ceramic, stone, and carpentry. Visitors praise the owner's expertise in framing artwork and the helpfulness of the knowledgeable staff.
We went to the Scott Milo Gallery for the Art Walk Reception on February 7, 2025. This was our second time going to the Anacortes Art Walk. We went to see the works of Alfred Currier and Anne Schreivogl. Very impressive work. There were also sculptures by Leo Osborne on display that we liked. The gallery was packed with lots of people. If you are ever in Anacortes I highly recommend a visit to the Scott Milo Gallery!
