Granville Island is a charming cultural and artistic hub in Vancouver, known for its daily public market featuring over 50 food vendors. The island underwent a major transformation in the 1970s, turning from a polluted industrial site into one of Vancouver's most beloved attractions. Visitors can explore artisan studios, cozy cafes, and a two-level kids market. The bustling public market offers an array of goods including fresh produce, local eats, crafts, and more.
We walked to the island from Kitsilano via the beach front, which is definitely worth doing, the island itself is very tourists driven, however it is also a popular shopping area, for locals, we loved just walking around taking it all in there are many galleries to enjoy as well as the souvenir shops. All in all wonderful experience.

My experience at Granville Island was wonderful! They have a charming market that is very well-stocked with a great variety of products, including many delicious cheeses, fruits, patisserie and foods. I made sure to try their very famous and highly recommended soup. Honestly, it’s a must-visit spot. Plus, the whole neighborhood is incredibly beautiful and clean, making the area really pleasant."
Thamy S — Google review
Granville Island is a must-visit in Vancouver! This vibrant spot offers a mix of: - Fresh food at the Public Market - Local artisans and handmade crafts - Live street performers - Craft beers at Granville Island Brewing Co. - Stunning waterfront views A perfect blend of creativity, community, and fun. It is also a tourist trap
Blessing O — Google review
Granville Island is a unique spot with a lot of character, though my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. As someone with no sense of direction, I found the layout of the island a little challenging to navigate. The network of alleys, industrial-style buildings, and indoor/outdoor market spaces had me doing a few loops! The gloomy, overcast weather that day didn't help, casting a slightly subdued and industrial feel over the place. However, the heart of the island is undoubtedly the Public Market. It's a vibrant hub bursting with life, where I loved wandering past the fantastic food stands and unique artisan stores. The location right on the water is a major plus. Being next to the pier made it incredibly easy for us to take a scenic ferry ride directly to downtown Vancouver, which was a highlight. I arrived fairly early on a weekday, so it was much less crowded than I had anticipated. The downside was that several restaurants were still closed until nearer to noon.
Jayne Z — Google review
Most Visited It’s easy to see why this place draws so many people — it has that mix of light, sound, and life that just pulls you in. On a sunny day, the waterfront feels golden, with sailboats drifting past and music from the market carrying through the air. The outdoor shops are great for a slow wander, and inside the market there’s food from every corner of the world. And if you love cheese, the little cheese shop is a must.
Martin V — Google review
Sept. 19/25: Haven’t been here for a long time as parking is limited and all pay. It’s too bad because it’s definitely a tourist destination and I’m sure the many businesses would appreciate more parking. The public market is a draw with its vast array of everything gourmand, sights and sounds enticing. Lee’s Donuts is a big draw here, look up for the filled donuts as the brightly coloured iced donuts are displayed in front at people level. Fresh filled cappaletta, fresh basil, variety of cheeses and pastry was purchased. Everything looks very fresh but not light on the wallet.
DLH — Google review
A lot of unique shops and vendors. Most shops weren't open yet when we came so we couldn't explore much. People there are friendly and welcoming. Some were not. A lot of the souvenir items were pricer than other places in Vancouver.
EBS — Google review
Granville Island is a wonderful place to spend the day! It has a wide variety of shops, bakeries, and restaurants offering something for everyone. You’ll find everything from toys for kids and pet supplies to handmade jewelry, clothing, unique gifts, crafts, paintings, and more. It’s also home to several theaters, and there are always cultural events happening — like plays, dance performances, and live concerts. It’s a very complete and vibrant place, perfect for locals and tourists alike. Getting there is easy too — whether by car, bus, sea taxi, or even on foot.

Nestled within the stunning surroundings of Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is a must-visit destination for families and marine enthusiasts alike. This beloved attraction offers an incredible opportunity to explore both local and exotic aquatic life, showcasing over 65,000 animals including playful sea otters, charming penguins, and majestic sea turtles. For more than six decades, it has been dedicated to education and conservation rather than flashy performances.
Great sea otter program by Vanessa! Super engaging and loved getting to know more about the otters. Also really enjoyed the seal feeding and getting to know more about the rescues! The entire aquarium was a blast, got to see so many amazing creatures, the pacific and tropical sections are beautiful. Highly recommend getting tickets online, and they have a great student discount. 10/10 would recommend for a great half day trip.
Jessica C — Google review
It's an excellent place to visit as long as it's not too busy. On the smaller side compared to other aquariums I've been to but there's lots of small exhibits for the animals they take care of. Definitely recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds, and if you live in the area, maybe consider buying a yearly membership as it pays for itself after 2-3 visits and the single day passes are very expensive.
Millie M — Google review
A fantastic experience! The staff were really friendly, there is a lot of variety of animals and things to see, plus the facts to each exhibit are really interesting and fun to read! The gift shops are really cool, it is really easy to buy too many things! I would love to visit again
Peter S — Google review
A decently sized aquarium. I would say you can expect to spend up to three hours here. Be sure to catch the Sea Lion show and the 4D movie. As for parking, I was able to get a great spot by arriving about 40 minutes before opening. They actually let us in before the official opening time, which was a nice bonus. I found the aquarium more memorable than the one in Seattle. Being situated inside Stanley Park is also a big plus. As a heads-up, if you’re visiting with multiple people, it may be more cost-effective to purchase a Platinum Membership rather than individual tickets.
Johnson — Google review
An impressive and well designed aquarium featuring a diverse collection of marine life and reptiles. While the building isn’t huge, it’s perfectly sized for an excellent experience where you can explore and learn about different kind of species from around the world.
Ron — Google review
Fantastic experience! The Vancouver Aquarium is beautifully maintained, educational, and full of incredible marine life. Perfect for families and ocean lovers. Parkind could be tricky on busy days. Plan ahead to spend time and watch every exibit without missing any.
Supun J — Google review
Loved the aquarium! Entrance wasn’t cheap but was able to spend several hours here, could easily spend the whole day here as there’s timed programs like the imax and the wet lab etc.
Maria J — Google review
Located inside Stanley Park, this is a nice aquarium with many animal species. There are many fishes that we had never seen before. Apart from the friendly seals, they don't have anything large or monstrous, if you are looking for that. They keep good care of the animals. Even nook & corners of the enclosures were being cleaned. We were a bit surprised that they are one of the largest as we were done with the tour within 2 to 3 hours, so it's not a day spend.

It serves as both a cruise ship terminal and the Vancouver Convention Center, hosting numerous events throughout the year. It is an incredible and stunning view of cruises and seaplanes while enjoying the sunset, as well as the ocean. Tons of singing street performers along the road, tons of visitors from all over the world. I can't describe how happy I was when I was there. I am definitely coming back to this place. Oh, Vancouver, how I miss you already !!!
Lily R — Google review
The area offers an excellent atmosphere for strolling and observing tourists as they board their cruises. In addition to the lively ambiance, there are various rides and souvenir shops to explore, making it a vibrant destination. Walking to or taking a ride share service is best since I didn't see any parking areas.

It is an Iconic landmark and a must-visit in Vancouver. Canada Place offers stunning views of the waterfront, mountains, and city skyline. The architecture is impressive, and it's a great spot for photos. Explore the shops, dine at one of the restaurants, or simply enjoy the atmosphere. Perfect for locals and tourists alike

Place du Canada is an impressively large and beautifully designed public space right in the heart of Vancouver. The area is open, welcoming, and very well laid out, making it easy to walk around and explore. It’s a truly pleasant attraction, whether you’re visiting for the first time or stopping by again. There’s always something happening here—events, activities, or just the natural buzz of people enjoying the space. It feels vibrant and full of life, yet still comfortable enough to relax and take in the surroundings. The mix of scenery, atmosphere, and things to do makes it a great place to spend some time. Overall, Place du Canada is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Vancouver.

The water front area . Ferry, station and many bus pick up place. Very nice views of water front and city. Tickets to many tourist attractions including Capilano suspension park, grouse mountain, etc., available

Canada Place is iconic and you’ll see the seaplanes, cruise ships and famed whale statue and Olympic Cauldron. Perfect place to walk along the harbor, shop and enjoy the many restaurants. It’s usually busy given that it is by the convention center and many cruise ships dock in the area. There is also a very fun ride, FlyOver Canada that will make you feel that you are actually flying, suspended in air with an aerial and jaw dropping views of Canada. Nice activity if it’s a rainy day.

What a beautiful clean port. Best i have ever been to. Safe, walkable, fantastic location. Can't wait to come back. Stayed at Fairfield Waterfront.
Jamie H — Google review
Last week was my first cruise and was pleasantly surprised how easy and efficient it was at Canada Place to drop off our luggage and proceed to get on board our ship. We walked by the day before our ship left to get a lay of the land (walking down toward the luggage drop off) and ended up taking an Uber the day of (overpackers, lol) and got down to the drop off very quickly.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, located in Vancouver's historic Chinatown neighborhood, is a serene urban park designed according to Taoist principles. Crafted by 53 Chinese master craftsmen, this garden is a replica of a classical Ming Dynasty Chinese scholars' garden and the first of its kind outside of China. The garden features carefully arranged water, plants, and rocks shipped from China to create an authentic experience.
Quiet & lovely garden in the center of the city. Scavenger hunt for kiddos, plenty of lush bamboo & maples, old bonsai trees & koi ponds. Cafe had neat original artwork for sale. Live classical Chinese musician played in the courtyard and incense wafted while we explored and played with the Buddha boards. Free tea samples and awesome gift shop. Definitely worth it. Easy location too, fun walking around Chinatown.
Ms A — Google review
This is a beautiful and relaxing Classical Chinese Garden. We visited on a recent trip. It was $16 to enter as an adult. Inside we could enjoy the walk and relaxing atmosphere. They offered free tea and there was a room with a few traditional Chinese activities to learn or try. The Garden neighbours a park by almost the same name. The Park is free to enter, and if you were just looking for a taste of the experience, you could do that at no cost. The Garden looks over the pond that is shared by both the paid garden and the free park. Spent about 1 hour total between the 2. The exit is through a lovely gift shop.
Alyssa B — Google review
It’s a calm and pleasant spot in an otherwise noisy town, but since it’s part of an open-entry park, the house itself doesn’t really justify the ticket price. Inside you’ll only find some Chinese-style furniture—unclear whether authentic or just styled to look old—arranged in a very bare interior with an equally plain garden. If you’ve ever seen original Chinese homes, you’ll find this one strikingly empty; if you haven’t, it may give you a very basic idea of how they look. The most interesting moment had nothing to do with the house at all: I watched a heron catch a fish from the pond right in front of me. It was extraordinary, something I had never seen so close before. That alone was beautiful. Otherwise, don’t bother paying for the entrance. Just walk behind the statue and you’ll enter the park for free. Nothing inside is worth your time.
Ani R — Google review
Visited June 2025. During our walk around Chinatown, we came across this garden. We walked through a store and out the back door and ended up here. This was a great surprise in an overall depressing situation in the area. The garden is very peaceful to walk around and take in nature right in the middle of the city.
Josh H — Google review
A peaceful place to soothe your peace, I visited the park and classic garden (entry fee) . I came here a few days after my dad's funeral. This has serenity away from the city life beyond the walls.
Jake W — Google review
This place was so cute to stop in while exploring Chinatown. A little oasis in what is kind of a rougher part of the city. We just did the public portion, not the ticketed part, but we saw plenty of lovely botanicals and hidden paths and picture spots. Definitely worth a walk!!
Sara C — Google review
Beautiful mature Chinese garden, well designed. Very popular place in the Chinatown area. A wonderfully designed walled garden, an oasis in the middle of the city. Maintenance is pretty decent. Worth the price of admission.
David F — Google review
Beautiful, peaceful and free garden access. There's also a paid portion as well that I recommend checking out as the design, building materials and construction techniques are from the Ming Dynasty.

VanDusen Botanical Garden, established in 1975 on a former golf course, is situated across 55 acres in Vancouver's Shaughnessy neighborhood. The garden showcases over 7,500 plants and trees from seven different geographic regions. It features diverse greenery, flowers, art installations, a meditation garden, an Elizabethan maze, and cascading streams that create a serene atmosphere.
What a great place ! I didn't know what to expect after I've done several gardens in different cities but this was definitely an amazing one. It's bid enough for you to wander for a couple of hours, it has a restaurant, a café and you can even bring your own picnic basket or buy one there so you can enjoy a sunny afternoon with family or friends. The garden is very well maintained with different zones representing different countries and continents, I love that it reminded some of the plants I've seen during my travels. Overall I'd highly recommend paying them a visit!
Mikael B — Google review
What a fabulous place to visit. It was my last day in Canada with a late night flight. My friend suggested visiting these beautiful Botanical Gardens. Sadly, not visited by many tourists as it is off their transport routes, when you are restricted to time and transportation. The gardens were easy to find and good parking. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Toilets were clean and tidy. There is a cafe and restaurant on site. We only visited the cafe which is very good, with seating inside and out. A map is ideal for finding your way around the gardens. Laid out in zones and clearly marked, they are stunning. Fantastic variety of plants, trees and shrubs, plus water features. Sadly, due to flight times, we were only able to spend about 4 hours there, I could have spent much longer. Well worth the visit and allow yourself time, you need it.
Lisa G — Google review
The botanical garden is an absolute gem that feels like a peaceful escape from the city. Every corner is beautifully designed and filled with vibrant colors, from lush green trees to carefully arranged flowerbeds that change with the seasons. The air feels fresh and clean, and the gentle sound of birds and rustling leaves creates a calming atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. The walking paths are well maintained, and there are plenty of benches where you can sit, relax, and simply enjoy nature. The greenhouse with exotic plants is especially impressive, offering a glimpse of tropical beauty even on a rainy day. What makes this garden truly special is the sense of care and attention to detail. Everything is arranged with love, from the layout of the plants to the small educational signs that tell interesting facts about each species. It is a perfect place for a quiet walk, a family outing, or simply to clear your mind and reconnect with nature.
Светлана З — Google review
It’s a really huge garden where you could easily spend several hours if you love exploring every single plant. I got there late since they were only open until 2, so I was rushing to see everything but it was still really beautiful and fun. I had no idea black grass even existed!😅It was my first time seeing it. I believe it’s a great place to visit in every season to see how it changes.🥰
Neda F — Google review
Van Dusen in Vancouver is not as well known as Butchart Garden in Victoria but is not to be missed. It’s a beautiful garden of 55 acres tucked away in the city and also has a maze that is not an easy one to get out of, so if you’re claustrophobic, think twice. It was fun to check out the vegetable garden next to the maze, great for kids. The garden is large enough that even when busy, you’ll find places that are quiet where you can stroll among the flowers and trees. There are 7,500 species! Also great way to spend a summer day to escape the heat. The pathways are fairly level and well maintained so ok for those who may be senior or have difficulty walking. There is a cafe and restaurant on site and a store for souvenirs. Nice stop to include if you’re seeing the University of British Columbia Museum.

If you are in need of a break from your busy life , this is the place. Beautiful gardens , wonderful lakes with beautiful fountains gently rippling the waters surface and if you are lucky like us you will see the Heron catch a fish. Just peace and tranquility. Wonderful manicured lawns , planted beds full of summer colour , fountains, grassy knolls and a restaurant. Four hours of bliss. A good walk round , plenty of labels to help identification, but not too far to ealk. You are never far from the path or the exit. Good coffee lovely herb and cheese scones too. A children's learning area and two restaurants complete the park. However the flowers and shrubs are the winners in my eyes. Endless colours , all beautifully planted to show their best sides. I could go back tomorrow and see something different . We'll done to the staff and the volunteers if I lived nearby I would like to volunteer too. Sorry about my feet in the video .
Mark G — Google review
It was quite a nice park to visit! I think the $20 was quite worth if you are very much into parks and gardens and plants in general. The trees were well maintained and curated. Very nice little sections that harmonize with one another. If you’re lucky enough, do catch the free guides that are done by the volunteers. I managed to tag along with one and it made the trip there all the more worth it.

Beautiful flower and very casual walk around. Great variety of trees and plants. With the shaugnessy restarant next door, it makes for a nice place to spend several hours and wander. Parking is free and it fees uncrowded even during busy times. Plenty of benches everywhere. Be advised during summer camp weeks the maze may be filled with lots of small kids who tear though it with high spirits and lots of excitement.

As time goes on, I have very mixed feelings about this gallery. It is the biggest one in the city but no student membership is available. I used to be a member, and can no longer afford it. The entry fee is exorbitant so I bought a year-long entry pass to make up for it... I also wonder about the curation. I liked the recent ceramics exhibit but that's because I love ceramics! I felt underwhelmed by the others. My previous visits ~4-5 years ago felt stronger than recent exhibits. Bring in more classical/traditional work, in addition to contemporary, to balance things out. I mean beyond Emily Carr (who is great but shown constantly).

While I live near and visit Vancouver a lot, I hadn’t been to the Vancouver Art Gallery in almost 20 years. The cost to visit is rather high, given the size of the gallery. As a BC resident it was $29. We spent just over an hour visiting the 4 floors. The up escalators were all out of order at the time of visit, though there was an elevator for accessibility. The exhibits were well presented and maintained, though the building was super warm and lacked air flow. The Emily Carr exhibit was definitely the highlight for me.
Alyssa B — Google review
Visiting the art gallery for the first time was a truly wonderful experience. The exhibition featured a wide range of unique art pieces, including beautifully crafted pot sculptures in various styles and designs. I was especially fascinated by the ceramic sculptures, each one showcasing incredible detail and creativity. The gallery also displayed stunning paintings that captured different themes and cultures. Overall, it was an eye-opening experience that gave me a deeper appreciation for diverse forms of art and cultural expressions.

This is a nice gallery to visit if you have a couple of hours to spare while in town. It is a spacious place with exhibitions from different artists. The content changes during the year so it's good to keep an eye on the venue schedule. This venue is centrally located in downtown.
C T — Google review
I must confess that I found myself somewhat underwhelmed. The impressive architectural structure did not seem to house anything particularly captivating or noteworthy. The contemporary and conceptual art installations, while present, did not fully engage my interest. Consequently, I would only recommend a visit if one has already experienced all other attractions Vancouver has to offer.
Gayane G — Google review
It’s definitely a smaller gallery and pretty quick to experience, but I loved seeing Otani Workshop’s first NA solo exhibit! It is a bit pricey considering they don’t have permanent installations but still worth supporting and the staff are so sweet here!
Cynthia — Google review
Really wish I had read reviews before visiting this place. Someone else described it as one of the least inspiring art museums and I would strongly agree. What made it so much worse was the fact they closed the main stairs, forcing us in loops to get to tiny back stairs. Then, where there were escalators, half didnt work - so time to backtrack around the building through the depressing exhibits of a single barrel of hay. I understand artists suffer for their art - but must I suffer as well?

Nestled in the heart of Vancouver, Science World is a captivating destination for families and young explorers. This iconic geodesic dome is brimming with interactive science exhibits that cater to children from toddlers to early teens. With engaging displays like the ever-changing Medieval Mayhem and the permanent Eureka! physics gallery, kids can immerse themselves in hands-on learning experiences. The unique Kidspace area specifically designed for little ones aged 1-3 ensures even the youngest visitors have a place to play and discover.
Lots of fun, plenty of things to do to keep kids entertained. Could do with more hand sanitizer about the place because everyone is touching everything, but it's there if you know where to look for it. Pretty good food options too! You can get a stamp for re-entry if you'd prefer to have lunch elsewhere though.

This place was amazing 👏 So many hands on things to do. We went with an 8, 7, 6 & 3 year old, they all enjoyed a full afternoon there. Admittedly the adults also very much so enjoyed themselves. We went during the week so it wasn't busy at all, that was nice. Now we could have spent HOURS in the massive Lego area!! But I did move the children along 😆 We spent 3 hours, again when not busy that was the perfect amount of time. We've been to science museums in Winnipeg, Regina, and in the states, this so far was the best!

I went to the Cirque Masquerade Ball Halloween Party held at/in Science World. At first, I was totally amazed that such an event could be held in the Science World, based on the size of the event. However, when I attended the event, I realized how big Science World facility truly is. It was a super-amazing venue that seemingly had no difficulty whatsoever to accommodate such a big event. It is such a beautiful facility that accomodated such a large event. I enjoyed meeting several new people, that were very friendly and outgoing similar to myself. I highly recommend it as an awesome place to go to events or venues. I look forward to attending more events that might be held there.

My family of 5 had a great time here. Spent almost 4 hours running around, and we didn't even make it to everything. We loved Molly of Denali, we did lego building, had lunch at Triple O's. The staff was friendly. I would say overall this was a great activity, looking forward to coming back

I had always heard great things about Vancouver’s Science World, so we came with high expectations — and it did not disappoint! The exhibits are fun, interactive, and educational. My son spent the whole day exploring with endless enthusiasm. A fantastic place for families with kids — highly recommended!
Grace L — Google review
Science World — the giant shiny golf ball that Vancouverites pretend is an educational hub but secretly visit just to poke buttons and spin wheels like overgrown toddlers. It’s a paradise for kids, sure — they run around with wide eyes and sticky hands, discovering the wonders of human anatomy and physics. Meanwhile, adults try to look intellectual while discreetly racing toy cars powered by wind turbines. The exhibits about the human body are fascinating — nothing like realizing how many ways your organs can betray you to make you appreciate science. Between the illusions, experiments, and the occasional “Did you know?” that makes you question your life choices, Science World is both enlightening and humbling. In short, it’s the perfect place to remind yourself that you don’t actually understand gravity as well as you thought you did.

The Vancouver Lookout, situated in the heart of the city at the top of Harbour Centre, offers a thrilling glass elevator ride to its 360-degree observation deck standing at 168 meters. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Vancouver's skyline, North Shore Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and English Bay. The attraction also boasts interactive exhibits that provide insights into the city's history, culture, and landmarks. Additionally, guests can visit the Armstrong Gallery featuring local artists' work.
Super interactive, exciting and fun experience! A must see in Vancouver. Beautiful sights of the city all around and lots of interesting, informative posts present showcasing the different attractions, monuments, green spaces and history of the city with some even outside of the city too! Also, when you go up the elevator to the main area you get to see the city through the windows which amplifies the experience.

Such a great attraction this is! Family friendly, informative and absolutely stunning views. We loved the information cards placed right by the view. Children enjoyed this experience more than the adults. The staff were very well trained, they kept the facility spotless and well organized.

First time visit here as visited Vancouver couple times. Great view for 360 degree view of all the directions of the city, in a sunny day. Drawback is they will close before sunset, so you cannot come for a night view. But probably they are worried about the safety in downtown for that.
Peter L — Google review
That was sooo exciting when you go up in the very quick glass elevator about 130 meters high, or actually 168 meters above sea level! You can see all of Vancouver’s attractions from above. Inside, there are pictures of different Vancouver spots with their history, and there’s even a QR code you can scan to listen to the guide. Highly recommend it!
Neda F — Google review
We didn’t get time to go to grouse mountain so decided to do the lookout. Cost is approx $44 for two. It was ok. Not much atmosphere at the top but there are markers for each site/building etc. it was cool being in the elevator outside. I wouldn’t say it’s a must do.
Tracey G — Google review
The Vancouver Lookout definitely lives up to its name—you get a mostly great panoramic view of the entire city. It’s a beautiful way to get your bearings and take in the skyline, mountains, and water all at once. That said, the ticket prices are pretty steep for what is essentially a quick experience. I give them bonus points for the thoughtful touch of having stepstools for little kids so they can actually enjoy the view too. I’ve done it once and it was lovely—but at that price point, I don’t feel the need to do it again. Worth checking off your list, but maybe not a repeat visit.
Nazgol — Google review
If you’re a first-time visitor to Vancouver or keen on getting a quick, immersive city overview—especially with different lighting by day and night—the Vancouver Lookout is worth a stop. For seasoned locals or those watching the budget, you may choose to simply admire the skyline from street-level rooftops or nearby drinking spots.

Kitsilano Beach, also known as "Kits Beach," is a popular urban beach located in the trendy neighborhood of Kitsilano in Vancouver. It offers sandy shores, a playground, volleyball courts, and a large saltwater pool. The beach provides white-sand access to the ocean, along with amenities such as washroom and changeroom facilities, concessions, and lifeguards during the summer months.
Beautiful sandy beach perfect for spending an evening and watching the sunset. Can get crowded during peak hours, weekends, and holidays, but is still enjoyable. Occasionally there are vendors here.

Nice beach, crowded during weekends in summer. Can be noisy with people that don't respect the noise by-law. Great if you like the crowd and noise like in Mexico beaches. Beautiful sunsets.
K. A — Google review
Kitsilano Beach is one of Vancouver’s most popular waterfront destinations. On sunny weekends, it fills up with both locals and visitors eager to enjoy everything it has to offer. It’s not just a place for a relaxing walk—many people come here to swim, surf, play beach volleyball, ride bikes, play tennis or basketball, jog, or simply enjoy the outdoors. There are several parking areas along the beach, and if you’d like to cycle, you can rent a bike from one of the nearby rental stations. Picnic tables are available in various spots, so you’re welcome to bring your own food and enjoy a meal by the sea. There are also playgrounds for children and outdoor showers for rinsing off after a swim. Public restrooms are available for convenience. There are multiple ways to get to Kitsilano Beach, but let me share my own route—it’s quite simple. First, take the Canada Line to Olympic Village Station. Just outside the station, catch the #84 bus. Depending on traffic, the ride takes about 10–15 minutes. Get off at Yew Street. From there, walk straight down Yew Street—don’t turn anywhere—and it will lead you directly to Kitsilano Beach. A small tip: Even if it’s sunny, it can get windy at times, so bringing a light jacket might be a good idea.
Culinistanbul — Google review
Don’t be like us who didn’t see that you had to pay for parking. We didn’t see the sign and ran straight to the beach as soon as parked our car lol. It was worth it tho ($69 parking ticket). We loved it here, there is a basketball court and plenty of volleyball nets to play with. Sunset view is so nice, we sat on one of the logs scattered all over the beach. Would definitely come back and will pay for parking next time haha

Kitsilano Beach or as the locals call it "Kits Beach," is one of Vancouver’s most popular spots - and for good reason. The beach offers beautiful views of the mountains and downtown skyline, making it a great place to relax, watch the sunset, or go for a walk. The vibe is always lively, especially in the summer - lots of locals playing volleyball, jogging, picnicking, or just soaking up the sun. There’s a grassy area for lounging, a great walking path, bike path, and even an outdoor pool nearby. Restrooms are clean and have running water. One of the best spots in the city for people-watching, chilling, and enjoying nature with urban energy.
Aplih A — Google review
A popular waterfront beach near Vancouver. Great spot to chill, but try to avoid the busy season as it can be grossly busy. Dawn and dusk are the best times for the vibe. Midday...maybe, but real beach goers know it's dawn and dusk that are It. Pleasant sounds from the water, great breeze. Be mindful of any potential warnings of water quality.
Theos — Google review
A lovely stretch of golden sand that calm (but very cold water), lapping the shore, the beach area is very popular with locals, sun baking, and playing beach volley ball.
V H — Google review
Beautiful views, neat and clean, pleasant place to visit. Be considerate to enjoy and leave it clean. Lots of Canada Geese groups can be seen at close quarters, but be careful to maintain safe distance so as not to annoy them, they are capable of causing consideble annoyence in return. And in the last, quite picturesque place especially when sunny, so do remember to carry your heavier camera in place of clicking through phone only. You will be handsomely rewarded.

Nestled atop a hill, Queen Elizabeth Park is a stunning urban oasis in Vancouver that beckons nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Spanning 52 hectares, this park is renowned for its meticulously manicured gardens and the enchanting Bloedel Conservatory, where vibrant flora thrives year-round. At an impressive elevation of 125 meters above sea level, visitors are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline and majestic mountains beyond.
Come here and experience an amazing park. There are plenty of great reviews and the vast majority are glowing and rightly so. From the Blodel Conservatory to the outdoor gardens to the walking trails this park is an oasis in the middle of urban sprawl. There is an excellent restaurant. There is plenty of parking and easy access to all attractions. Public washrooms are also available. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the park and easily recommend coming here. We will definitely come back.

There is a restaurant on site with great food you can enjoy alongside an amazing view of the Vancouver skyline. Highly recommend!

My brother and I used to golf here and play in the snow growing up nearby. The park hasn't changed that much. It is still a lovely place to take visitors and I am hoping to find the artist selling the beautiful Vancouver prints again.

Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver is a remarkable destination offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational activities. One of its highlights is the Bloedel Conservatory, where the entrance fee is around 8 CAD. This conservatory is home to a diverse collection of tropical and subtropical plants, along with vibrant birds, providing a unique indoor garden experience. The park also features stunning flower displays, including sunflowers and roses, creating a colorful and picturesque environment. However, visitors should be prepared for the summer heat, as the park has limited shaded areas. It's advisable to bring a towel and stay hydrated while exploring the beautiful landscapes. The park's mix of botanical wonders and outdoor leisure makes it a must-visit spot in Vancouver.

Absolutely beautiful park! First stop on our Vancouver trip and it was well worth the beauty. Please take the time and spend the extra cash to drop into the greenhouse. It’s not expensive and the flowers are amazing. The entire garden is well kept and the artwork made with the flowers is incredible. My only recommendation would be to somehow change the water feature that’s no longer in use. Other than that 1000/10 spot to visit.
Joshua P — Google review
It is a beautiful park, great for picking and having the kids run around. It has many other places like the Bloedel Conservatory: a nature and wild life garden, Quarries, and restaurant. Perfect for photo shoot spots, and you can see city from the top of the park. Queen Elizabeth Park's peaceful gardens are great place to spend an afternoon.
Shereen H — Google review
I went playing disc golf. The course design is good with a little challenge that there is a basket beside the lake. The lawn is too muddy if there was rain the day before. I like the separate putting area particularly, good for practice. The view from the observation deck is spectacular. You are able to see all the local ski resorts when the sky is clear. Paid street parking on slope is available.
Lai B — Google review
The best time to visit is in late spring to see flower gardens and Japanese Cherry trees in full bloom. The view of downtown Vancouver is nice at any day, although you have to find a good viewing spot because at some places the view is obstructed by trees. If there are no low clouds, you can also see North Shore Mountains, and they are awesome. If you go there by car, you can park under the Quenn Elizabeth P. on a city street for free. Otherwise, in the park, you have to pay $4.25 for an hour.

The Museum of Vancouver, located in Vanier Park between Kitsilano Beach and Granville Island, offers a fascinating exploration of the city's history and issues. With a strong collection of First Nations art and artifacts, this independent, non-profit organization aims to deepen understanding through stories and shared experiences. Catering to sub-teens and teens, the museum provides insight into early Vancouver history, from its First Nations past to the neon light phase of the 1950s.
I visited the Museum of Vancouver and really enjoyed it! The exhibits were interesting, well-designed, and full of local history and culture. That said, I was expecting something a bit larger - I thought I’d spend half a day there, but in reality, it took me about 2 hours to see everything. Right next to the museum, there’s also the Maritime Museum, which could be a nice addition to your visit. After that, you can take the ferry to Granville Island - a great place to explore the public market and local restaurants, browse shops with handmade goods. Overall, a lovely and educational stop, just be prepared for a shorter visit than you might expect.

Interesting local museum! Lived in the lower mainland my whole life but visited for the first time as it was included with a book talk I attended. Really enjoyed it and learned many valuable things. I had visited previously as the price seemed a little steep for the size of the museum. However, it’s well curated and has some growing and meaningful Indigenous exhibits, which was great to see.

A great visit! The featured chair exhibit was my favourite, I had no idea so much history could be shared from chairs! The permanent exhibits walk you through the decades, and are extremely interesting and beautifully organized and we'll put together to make a great experience. Highly recommend the visit!

My Dad and I enjoyed our visit to the Museum of Vancouver. We learned so much about the history of the indigenous people of the area and the history of the city of Vancouver and the people that built and make up this vibrant city. The museum itself is laid out in a logical manner between the galleries and is accessible. The galleries are well researched and organized. The art and photographs displayed definitely are great points of references to learn more and understand better the city of Vancouver. This is an excellent museum for an visitor to Vancouver to explore!

A museum dedicated to the history and lifestyle of Vancouver city, it houses the items from yesteryears in chronically arranged way to give a peek of way of living in city through the periods. Entertaining and informative, recomoneded for choldrens and adults alike. There are vending machines downstairs but during my visit, none of them worked, taking payment but not dispensing and returning the amount. The desk was also not helpful in resolution, telling that if the item is not dispensed, the amount will surely refunded. There are no eateries around, nearest being 10~15 mins walk, so prepare accordingly. Also nearest public transport stops are 12 mins away. Parking is easy though. Washrooms are conveniently located and usable.
Basant S — Google review
Came here as a tourist taking the bus. Arrived around 6pm today but found the walking path very dark that I wasn’t sure if there really was a museum in there. I still went through the path which is about an 11 min walk. As I reached the lobby, the vibe didn’t seem to be welcoming, lights dim, place looked old. Wasn’t sure if it’s worth the price, maybe if it was free I’d go. Anyway I decided not to, just walked back to the bus stop and called it a day.
Kymmy P — Google review
Good local history museum, with special exhibits on rotation (we were there for a "chairs" exhibit). Perhaps a touch pricey for the duration of the stay (this tipped me from 5 stars to 4), but we enjoyed it all the same.

This is an older building with a retro futuristic design like stepping into an architect’s vision of the future from decades ago. It’s very well maintained, and the planetarium dome experience is truly fantastic. The seats show a bit of wear, but nothing that affects the enjoyment. It’s a little pricey, yet absolutely worth visiting. Many people confuse the Dome with the Museum of Vancouver, but they’re not the same. They share the same building in Vanier Park, but the Museum of Vancouver occupies most of it, while the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre runs the planetarium inside the dome.

The Vancouver Seawall is a picturesque 14 to 17.5-mile waterfront path that winds through the heart of the city, including Stanley Park and various neighborhoods, parks, and beaches like Kitsilano Beach Park and Coal Harbor. It's perfect for couples looking for a scenic stroll or bike ride with plenty of opportunities to relax at nearby restaurants. This stone wall not only prevents erosion but also provides an uninterrupted pathway for walking, jogging, cycling, and skating along Vancouver's stunning natural landscape.
It doesn't matter if you are a tourist or a local for many years, going to the seawall for a walk, run or ride is always a nice experience. One of the best views of downtown, surrounded by nature and with good structure (available washrooms, some benches to relax and enjoy the view, parking lots, etc). I reccomend that you do the entirety of the seawall by bike at least once so that you can enjoy the different views and places, like downtown, north van, the mountains and the beaches.

The miracle is that I had the courage to start”; “My sport is your sport’s punishment”; “This isn’t sweat, it’s liquid awesome”; and “Do it for the post-run snack”. It was during a recent run along the Stanley Park Seawall Path in Vancouver, Canada, that I discovered a different motivational technique. Rather than repeating a single phrase to keep you going, how about excitedly striding from one motivational expression to another? You see as this trail winds itself around magnificent Stanley Park, it is replete with benches adorned with a seemingly endless number of deeply personal plaques that broadcast both remembrances and some pretty keen life advice. I stopped more than 150 times during my run and I’d estimate that I photographed only 50% of the benches that are available to enjoy. 🤯 My favorite plaques include: “What a beautiful difference one single life made”; “To the world you were just one, to me you were the world” 🥹; “She lived for those she loved, and those she loved remember”; “How small a part of time we share”; “People and places have touched me so, left a mark on my mind, heart & soul. Thank you Lord, it’s been a great ride”; “Loving Masterchef who taught how to savor the flavors of life”; and “Just a Godly man who so loved his four wonderful daughters”. This outstanding trail is approximately 6 miles long, flat, and entirely paved. It features numerous dramatic curves that create excitement to discover what might be revealed just around each corner. Those with mobility issues will find it extremely accommodating and a separate lane for cyclists creates a safe path for all outdoor enthusiasts. It is well traveled during the day, and although the buddy system is always recommended, it isn’t necessary in this instance. And that’s…Henry’s Take. #trailseries #stanleyparkseawallpath

This is the spot highly recommended to get the best downtown Vancouver skyline views from. The spot is easily accessible by foot, on bicycle, or by driving on a vehicle. The views both at sunrise, during the day, and at sunset are really worth the visit. There are quite a few other landmarks and attractions on this side of the Stanley Park as compared to the other side. A paid parking lot is close by, while on foot this point is barely a 15 minute walk from the closest bus stop. A must visit spot whenever in downtown Vancouver.

One of the best walks you can do in Vancouver! The Seawall offers stunning views of the ocean, mountains, and city skyline all in one. Great for walking, biking, or just taking it all in at your own pace. Peaceful, scenic, and perfect for all ages. Easy 5 stars!

Stunning walk in a gorgeous area! Very popular walking/biking area & for a great reason. We some super cool birds + slugs while we were out!
Josie C — Google review
The seawall is always a joy to explore—whether on foot, bike, or a casual jog. It features some of the most scenic views of downtown, framed by lush greenery and waterfront. The path is well-equipped with restrooms, benches, and parking, making it an easy and comfortable outing. I suggest biking the full loop at least once to take in the diverse views—cityscape, North Shore mountains, ocean, and beaches all in one ride.

If I lived in Vancouver, I would be here at least 3 times a week. I would be walking, running or going for a ride. Beautiful views, fresh air, so serene...I can't even describe it ❤️❤️❤️

Night market
The Richmond Night Market is a must-visit for an incredible food experience. Established in 2000, it has become one of the largest North American night market festivals. The market offers a wide variety of innovative, Asian-inspired fusion foods that are perfect for capturing jaw-dropping Instagram shots.
Honestly, I always enjoy RNM. Been going for years and it's really what you make of it. Entrance is $5, parking is massive and FREE, the food can be a bit pricey - but the variety is there and it's food I wouldn't have normally nor regularly. You go to try new things and just have fun with the food pallet. Go with a sociable/curious group of friends or partner, go have a good time, try some interesting food, buy some cute trinkets and take some cute photos. Buen Provecho! :) *Bring cash - they have multiple ATMS... but save yourself the fee*
Francesca H — Google review
Would I call it an overpriced tourist attraction? Yes. But if you can look past the cost, it’s a fun experience. There are plenty of food stalls, and while not everything is worth trying, you can always check reviews to see what stands out. It’s more enjoyable to go with a group so you can try more items. Personally, my favorites were the Lamb Noodles from Chef James Co, the Pork Dumplings from Momo's, and the Mango Paradise from Taco Nori Sushi Tacos. The Coconut in a Cup from One Coconut was just okay. As for the Deep-Fried Squid from Squid Feast and the Spot Prawns from Ocean Sweets, BBQ Squid Mix from Lao Er BBQ Squid, they tasted mid. Beyond food, they also have shops and games. I don’t think it’s worth spending money outside of food, but it’s worth a look.

This was my first time at the Richmond Night Market, and it was such a fun experience! I already expected the food to be pricey, so definitely bring plenty of cash. There’s a huge variety of food—mostly Asian cuisine, but we also found a great Mexican food stand. Tons of carnival-style games to try too! Admission is $7 CAD per person, or you can get a fast pass for $35 that covers 5 people. If you don’t have a group for the fast pass, I’d recommend going early to avoid the long lines. They even have a zip line, although it wasn’t open during our visit. Overall, a lively place to eat, play, and explore!
Thu L — Google review
food was really good, much better than expected! stinky tofu was authentic, tasted almost similar to the ones in changsha. fried squid was amazing, so tender and crispy, the people really gave a lot for the size small portion. mango sticky rice was also my favourite! however, the price is just way too high, these would normally be sold at a third/half the price. on top of that, admission fee is pricey, which makes you want to spend more in the night market to get your money’s worth… fun experience but probably wouldn’t go back because of the prices!!
Grace — Google review
Weapons and family time? No thank you. You have to pay to get in, and once you’re in you’re faced with overpriced street food, overpriced carnival games, cash-only sales AND high caliber weapons sold in the open, right in the middle of the park. There is something really strange about a market (night or day) that promotes friendly family time with children games and arcades and at the same time allows the sale of assault rifles and semi-automatic guns under a tent right in the middle of everything. We were left wondering what audience is this park really trying to attract? They have a zip line (overpriced as everything else on the park) which at least makes it “fun” for kids to watch and young adults to enjoy, and then they have bouncy houses literally aimed at kids, and they also have carnival games (also overpriced) which you may argue are for all ages, so that’s fine, but who are the high caliber weapon sales for? Are those also cash-only? I wouldn’t know because it made us so uncomfortable, we left in less than an hour. Sketchy place. Management really needs to decide what image they want to have and what audience they’re trying to reach. You can’t attract families and friends enjoying some wholesome time together or young couples on a date, and at the same time attract those who are in the market for a high-caliber weapon sold at night potentially on the down-low in a makeshift market by an industrial zone. That’s just weird.

I went to the Richmond Night Market for the first time (I am from US) and it was a great experience!! It is way better than night markets in the states. The only long line was to get inside. Once we were in, we waited no longer than 5 minutes in a line and the food came out really quick! It’s so much cheaper than US food festivals as well so we were able to try a bunch of different things for a good price. I would 100% come again. It was well worth the drive.
Christina L — Google review
I’m sad it took me 3 trips to Vancouver to finally go to the Richmond Night Market. It was quite a long line to get in at 1900, but it only helped my appetite. We got a free lobster hat upon entrance which delighted my niece. We ate at several different stalls. My favorite was the toasted mochi and the mango sticky rice!
Nichelle S — Google review
A long time has passed since I last visited the Richmond Night Market. I was impressed by the significant improvements since my last visit a few years ago. The quality of the products has improved, and there are now more games and bigger food stands. There are even activities for kids, such as a bounce castle and a zipline. Among all the food, the Korean BBQ chicken skewers stood out. They came in four flavors, and I tried two of them: a sweet and savory sauce and a galbi flavor. It was a shame they were sold out the second time I visited, and I couldn't get more. I also remember the Dubai chocolate-covered strawberry cups from the dessert section. I wish this was a menu item at a cafe near me! The market runs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m., from May through October. The lines get incredibly long, so you must buy a Zoom Pass! The regular admission is $4.75, while the Zoom Pass costs $28.00 for six entries. Since it's unlikely you'll go six times alone, you can offer to share the pass with friends, family, or even other couples or families in line. They'll likely be happy to join you and get through the express lane without the long wait.

This was such a beautiful place. So many tropical plants and a great variety of different flowers. The birds were fun to watch also. They liked when I spoke to them using their names. Wonderful experince, the gardens are laid out eith winding paths that are just fun to walk down and back up, seeing all types of plants that you would have trouble in finding other places- then the birds!! I love the birds they are so pretty. I wish we could have even more space to appreciate the species that live in that environment

Great start to our day on a misty Saturday morning. The birds and mice really made it more than just a garden/ conservatory for me. Going at opening allowed us to enjoy two trips around the garden before it got too crowded. My spouse enjoyed the scavenger hunt as it gave you a handful of things to look out for. One of the volunteers was so friendly and brightened our experience.

Granville Island Public Market is a bustling indoor market offering a wide array of gourmet food stalls, artisan boutiques, restaurants, bars, and cafes. Situated near the Plaza of Nations, visitors can conveniently access the market via Aquabus or False Creek Ferries. The market's proximity to attractions like Science World museum and transportation hubs such as Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station makes it an ideal stop for both locals and tourists.
An iconic covered public market that is part of the tourist attractions around Vancouver city. The market has local vendors selling fresh farm produce, coffees, baked items, meat and fish, as well as some artistic works. There are also plenty of Chinese food shops. The market also has famous doughnut and coffee shops for which people are lining up. The market is quite large and can take up to an hour for browsing and shopping. The main activity around here is to get something to eat from these shops. The market can easily be accessed by car, or a more touristy way is to take the boat bus and small ferries from a lot of spots in Vancouver downtown. Highly recommend a visit to this market.

You can try seafood, cheese, cured meats, sandwiches, savory pies, fruit pies and breads and pastries to to mention iconic fish and chips. There is also a deck that has musicians so nice place to relax and enjoy your goodies. The shops feature local artist and have specialties such as a lavender and goat milk body care shop, art by First Nation people as well as jewelry and local crafts showcased. Although called Granville Island you can drive there. There are also fun tourist ferries to take if you want to give the kids a treat!

An old industrial community has been renewed as a public market area! 1. If you wanna walk from BC downtown, Google map will play with you. It will say it will take only 15-20 mins to get there but it is only true if you are brave enough to jump off the bridge which is nearly 30m high. Take a bus, or rainbow ferry. 2.market offers small community of shops. Some good, some.... I would say ok. 3. Small food court is there but hard to find a seat so be quick about it if you do not have strong legs. This place is worth visiting especially knowing the history of it. Will be more crowded if you can access there from the bridge by walk without killing yourself.

It’s fun just walking through and taking it all in. The smells, the sounds, the mix of people all add to the experience. Great place to grab a bite, pick up something unique, or just enjoy the atmosphere by the water. Feels like a little world of its own.

Granville Island Public Market is a fantastic spot, especially for tourists looking to explore something unique. It offers a wide variety of specialty foods, fresh produce, local art, handmade crafts, and other one-of-a-kind items. As a local, I like to visit occasionally, either to see what's new or to bring friends visiting from abroad. The atmosphere is vibrant and enjoyable, though dining in the market can be a bit challenging. It’s often very crowded, especially during peak seasons like summer when cruise ships dock at Vancouver Waterfront, or around major holidays like Christmas and New Year. Finding a seat can be a bit of a dilemma. You're often stuck deciding whether to grab food first or find a place to sit. Parking is another downside. It’s expensive and limited. If you plan to stay for a while, public transit is definitely the better option. Despite a few inconveniences, it's a lively and memorable place that many people will find interesting and worth visiting.

I recently spent an afternoon exploring the marina area near Granville Island Public Market, and it was a wonderful experience. The marina is beautiful, with rows of sailboats and kayaks lined up against the sparkling water, creating a picturesque and relaxing scene. A great park space is nearby where people gather to sit on the grass, picnic, or just take in the view, perfect for unwinding on a sunny day. Granville Island Public Market is the real highlight. It offers a fantastic selection of fresh seafood, baked goods, and artisan products, making it an ideal spot for dinner or to stock up on unique treats. There are also plenty of little shops and galleries to browse through if you’re in the mood to shop for local crafts. If you’re looking for a bit of adventure, there are harbor cruises and even seal tours departing right from the marina, adding a fun and memorable experience to your visit. This area is a gem, full of vibrant energy, great food, and stunning scenery. Highly recommend spending an afternoon or evening here!

Lions Gate Bridge, a landmark suspension bridge in Vancouver, offers stunning city views and features a pedestrian walkway. Spanning 1,517.3 meters from Downtown to North Vancouver, the bridge stands at a height of 61 meters and provides an unobstructed vantage point for admiring sunset colors over the ocean. Accessible from Stanley Park or its North-end, visitors can explore walkways and platforms on the West-side for optimal viewing opportunities.
The suspension bridge is absolutely majestic and gives a solid, secure feeling when you walk across it. On both sides of the bridge, there are dedicated cycling paths, making it easy and enjoyable for cyclists. You can start from Prospect Point Lookout and ride your bike downhill directly to the entrance of the bridge’s bike lane, where you’ll be treated to stunning scenic views along the way.

Frank B — Google review
Lions Gate Bridge is an iconic symbol of Vancouver and a living monument to the Great Depression era. It opened to motor traffic on November 14, 1938 (pedestrians were allowed two days earlier). The project was financed by the Guinness family through British Pacific Properties to open up North Shore lands for development—fueling the rapid growth of West Vancouver. In 1939 King George VI’s motorcade crossed the bridge; in 1955 the province bought it, and in 1963 the toll was removed. In 2004 it was designated a National Historic Site of Canada. The south entrance is flanked by Art Deco lion statues by sculptor Charles Marega—a nod to the mountain peaks The Lions, which gave the bridge its name. The main span is about 472 m (1,548 ft), the towers ~118 m (387 ft); at its opening it was the longest suspension bridge in the British Empire. Decorative lighting for Expo ’86 was again funded by the Guinness family—another touch from the city’s benefactors Aleks recommends👍❗️

Review of Lions Gate Bridge – Vancouver’s Iconic Gateway Crossing the Lions Gate Bridge is one of the most visually stunning experiences in Vancouver. Whether heading north toward the lush slopes of Grouse Mountain and the hills of West Vancouver or south into downtown, flanked by the towering trees of Stanley Park, the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. On clear days, the green waters of Burrard Inlet shimmer on either side, making the journey feel like a postcard come to life. The bridge is more than just a crossing—it’s a moment of transition between the urban and the wild, the city and the sea. It can be enjoyed not only by vehicle but also on foot or by bike. Walking across gives you a chance to fully take in the surrounding views—just be aware that the pedestrian path is quite narrow. If a cyclist is passing, it can get tight, so caution is needed. That said, the beauty comes with a price. Traffic during rush hours can be intense, and any accident can bring things to a near standstill. In such moments, the iconic charm of the bridge can feel more like a bottleneck. Still, despite its traffic woes, Lions Gate Bridge remains one of the most scenic and symbolic landmarks in the region—a must-experience whether you are a local or a visitor.

I took these pictures and video while I was cycling on the bridge. One point about this bridge for cyclists and walkers is that the lane from north side of the bridge to the south has more uphill than the other side. Only when walking on the bridge you can see the magnificence of engineering.

Very beautiful bridge ! The Lions Gate Bridge, opened in 1938 and officially known as the First Narrows Bridge, is a suspension bridge that crosses the first narrows of Burrard Inlet and connects the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, to the North Shore municipalities of the District of North Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver, and West Vancouver. The term "Lions Gate" refers to the Lions, a pair of mountain peaks north of Vancouver. Northbound traffic on the bridge heads in their general direction. A pair of cast concrete lions, designed by sculptor Charles Marega, were placed on either side of the south approach to the bridge in January 1939.

Lions gate is an iconic bridge and a symbol of Vancouver. Yes, with like only 3 lanes it's way too small, it was built when the city area was much smaller. It's a cool sight, go to Stanley parc to get a good view of it Alaric recommends 👐 🌉 🌁

Spanish Banks Beach is a bustling sandy beach that offers tidal flats for skimboarders and kitesurfers, as well as volleyball courts. It's quieter than other nearby beaches due to its residential location, making it an optimal place for picnics with unreal views over the water and city skyline. The Seawall stretches along the long beach, providing an ideal setting for a quiet stroll with seagulls and sailboats in the backdrop.
Large beach spot, doesn’t usually get too busy. Can always find a spot to seat even on a hot weekend in the summer. This beach does get significantly more windy than kits, so if it’s not very hot could be a bit chilly. The bigger challenge with this beach is finding parking at peak hours in the weekend, would recommend to get here before 11AM to find a spot. This beach is not as transit accessible at Kits, it’s a much longer walk from the nearest bus stop. There are good washrooms and multiple concession stands on this stretch of beach. This is a popular spot for volleyball and families. You have a very 180 degree view on this beach, can see downtown Vancouver and all the mountains across the water. Highly would recommend if you have a car. Parking near the beach is max 2 hours and pricing is pretty reasonable.

One of the neater beaches I've been to. There's sand and rocky sections, eastwards and westwards, respectfully. Perfect spot to relax and hear the ebbs of the tide at dawn and dusk. Spanish Banks stretches quite far, directly with Point Grey Beach. Great walking space as well. If you opt to sit on the large rocks, move slowly. They can be loose enough that the weight of a person can make them shift or completely roll. Mind your steps.

Awesome beach... Be careful of parking .. they love to be horrible... And give tickets.. ice cream truck showed up with plenty of options. So apart from the ticket it was great..

The Marine Building, a 21-storey skyscraper in Vancouver, is an iconic example of art deco architecture. Built in 1930 as the home for the Vancouver Merchants Exchange, it features intricate detailing inspired by historical ships at sea. The building's ornate lobby boasts brass doors and wood inlays from 12 varieties of BC hardwoods, creating a timeless atmosphere. With its underwater theme and references to marine life, the Marine Building pays homage to Vancouver's maritime heritage.
The Marine Building in Vancouver is a stunning example of Art Deco architecture. Built in 1930, it features intricate marine-themed details, beautiful brass elevators, and an opulent lobby. Though it’s primarily used as an office space, the impressive lobby is open to visitors. A must-see for architecture enthusiasts!

This location is the most beautiful building in Vancouver. It was built almost 100 years ago in Art Deco style. You can visit here free but should remember that Business Center works before 5 pm on weekdays only. Feel free to climb on the second floor by the elevator. In the Christmas season, the hall has elegant decorations.
Natalia M — Google review
Architecturally brilliant. You don't get rhis character from the built environment any more anywhere. This is a beautiful space, so ecstatic that it has been retained in it's original style. The craftsmanship would have to be appreciated by most and surely will be a part of the walking tour that anyone visiting Vancouver must take in. Loved even just walking through the foyer and imagining the history of the era.

Amazing architectural interior in the Art Deco style. Make sure to check out the 2nd floor for an awesome viewpoint.
Kristina G — Google review
If you love Art Deco, pop into this 1930s office building near the water. It’s open to the public to see the architecture inside. Most of the design is in the lobby and don’t sleep on going inside one of the elevators. There are a few shops in the basement. Restrooms are in the basement but they aren’t open to the public unless you ask a shop owner to let you in.

Wonderful art deco building with a "must see" entrance lobby. Well preserved original features, such as the phone booths, and the detailing make it a pure delight. There is a coffee shop by the lobby so one can stop to enjoy the ambience. Highly recommended so do not let the external refurbishment put you off going inside.

H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is a museum in Vancouver that offers space-related games, hands-on exhibits, and a planetarium. The center features interactive exhibits designed especially for kids, allowing them to engage with various activities such as pushing buttons to understand sound in a vacuum and using computer simulations to dock a shuttle at a space station.
H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is a must-visit in Vancouver for anyone curious about the universe. It’s more than a museum—it’s an immersive journey through space with stunning planetarium shows, interactive exhibits, and real telescope nights. You’ll learn about black holes, the Big Bang, life in space, and Canada’s role in space exploration, all in a way that’s engaging for both kids and adults. A truly unique place that makes science feel magical.
Alvaro S — Google review
3.5 overall - it's a good museum but very very small also. It's good as an introduction and for something quick to do. While reading all the plaques and viewing everything , it took maybe an hour to see it all. The planetarium was quite fun to watch. It's still a place you should visit, just don't expect a regular museum level experience.
CY S — Google review
Visiting the space centre on May the fourth was certainly a good choice! As a kid, this was one of my favourite field trip destinations and it definitely helped foster my love of all things space. If you come here with children, make sure to check out the shows! The downside: It is quite small and the exhibits are rather dated :(
Edith W — Google review
It’s a fun spot for kids, especially the planetarium shows and hands on activities. But honestly, I expected more. A lot of the tech feels outdated things like the projectors and displays really need an upgrade. The place has so much potential, but it could use a refresh to make it more exciting for all ages.
Indika W — Google review
My friend and I attended the Pink Floyd 50th anniversary of dark side of the moon and it was an epic experience!!! 10/10. Go!! The sound system is incredible. Walking around afterwards it was sad to see how dated the building has become. So much could be done with this space to keep it modern and exciting. For example, the space centre would make a killing featuring albums of different artists in the dome, the sound system is sick. Also maybe open a bar? Beverages were advertised but we only found vending machines. There is alot of opportunity here, guess you just need to find a funder/fundraiser and someone with innovative ideas.
Kay G — Google review
This a good place to attend with children who are interested in science. Their dome theatre has now updated projectors with better quality and brightness than previous ones. The selection of movies is pretty good. They also have some good interactive shows. Giving 4 stars just because there is not much to do there except watching the shows, unfortunately. Check what shows are in the schedule to plan the visit accordingly. It makes complete sense to buy a membership if you are local as it includes unlimited visits during the year including unlimited movie tickets.
Sergiy B — Google review
I went to see Encounters in the Milky Way at The Dome, and it was amazing! I felt like a kid again on an elementary school field trip, but don't get me wrong- I think adults would enjoy this more. I only wish the show was longer (only 30 mins) as there were so many interesting points. The nice thing is that there isn't a bad seat in the place since everyone is reclined back and looking up- very relaxing. =D My only criticism is that a more organized line up outside the dome would be nice since it gets very crowded with everyone waiting to be seated beforehand. I'm already discussing going back to the next show with my friends.
Adrienne Y — Google review
I went to the Cosmic show last night was really interesting however I didn't know the actual show was at 9pm. I thought it started at 7pm. It would be nice if they had two shows under the Dome one at 7pm and one at 9pm and you can pick the time. I found 9pm is kind of late and I had to pay extra for parking.

Robson Square, located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, is a vibrant public plaza that serves as the city's social hub. Surrounded by office towers and notable landmarks like the Vancouver Art Gallery and Provincial Law Courts, it offers a unique blend of urban life and natural beauty. The square hosts various art installations, impromptu performances, and public events throughout the year. In winter, visitors can enjoy affordable ice-skating at the free rink behind the Vancouver Art Gallery.
I recently attended a conference at Robson Square, located within the UBC Robson Square premises in downtown Vancouver, and I was thoroughly impressed with the venue. The building is a true architectural gem, featuring a sleek, modern design combined with stunning open spaces. The location itself is perfect — centrally situated in the heart of downtown Vancouver, making it easily accessible for attendees. The facilities are top-notch, with spacious conference rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The environment is both professional and welcoming, offering a productive atmosphere for events of all sizes. One of the highlights for me was the natural light that floods the building, giving it a bright and airy feel, which makes a big difference for long conference days. Additionally, Robson Square’s proximity to nearby shops, restaurants, and attractions is a major plus for attendees looking to explore during breaks. The building also features a beautiful outdoor plaza, which is perfect for enjoying the views or taking a walk around the vibrant city center. Overall, I had an excellent experience at Robson Square and would highly recommend it as a conference venue. The location, facilities, and atmosphere made for a fantastic event. I look forward to attending another event here in the future!

Nice place to go around and walk if you are in Vancouver. There are many food trucks, Sauzzi Thai, Mr. shawarma, burgers, and some small handcrafted stations. There are many local/outside artists who come and performance in this place. Excellent to social, eat, chill out with friends all the year around! You have some Public washrooms close in any emergency and if not pacific centre!!

What a lovely place to witness Vancouverites doing their thing! I came as a tourist from Toronto and just sat here for a quarter of an hour in the evening just people watching. There was this incredibly talented man busking away with his electric guitar, his music permeating the air. 100/10 experience!

Matthew F — Google review
Robson Square is right in the heart of downtown Vancouver, which is metaphoricaly exactly where it belongs. Robson Square sits between the Provincial Court House and the Vancouver Art Gallery.  The space has multiple levels, mulitiple water falls, and a surprising amount of greenery in the overall design.  Basically it’s an urban park with stunning architecture. The biggest feature of Robson Square is it’s reputation as the go-to place for every protest or public demonstration in Vancouver.  Everyone in Vancouver gathers here, or on the North Plaza in front of the Art Gallery, and vents their frustrations with the world.  Which is a very important aspect of a healthy democracy.  I didn’t include any pictures of the protests, but the fact that Robson Square plays this role in Vancouver makes it one of the most important spaces in Vancouver.  People need a public place to express themselves and for Vancouver it’s Robson Square and the North Plaza of the Vancouver Art Gallery. I’ve actually never been inside the Vancouver Art Gallery but the building is quite beautiful and what it represents is very important.  Culture is built with creativity and the Vancouver Art Gallery is a great metaphor for this fact.  If you want your city to have culture, you need to have a vibrant art scene. Lots of artists and entrepreneurs come to Robson Square to sell their wares, play their music, take pictures, make videos, etc.  Having this free public location for artists to practice their craft is very important because real estate in Vancouver is very expensive.  There’s also a skating rink on the lower floor that doubles as a multi-functional space in the summer months for things like dancing.  There’s lots of dancing and music in Robson Square. On the quieter days Robson Square is also a good place to go just to sit and have your lunch or read a book.  There are many nooks and crannies to be found in Robson Square that you can find to just get away from it all.  Especially if you’re willing to climb the stairs that lead up to the Court House.  The view from up there is quite nice.  Especially at night, when all the lights of the city come on. I’ve taken about a million pictures of Robson Square and the ones I included here are just a few I took lately.  It’s an amazing space to be in if you’re a street photographer.  Ultimately, Robson Square is about people.  This is what makes the space come alive.  It was built for people, not trees or water or architecture.  If you want to celebrate people, come and visist Robson Square.  They are the biggest attraction that it has to offer.

Gastown Steam Clock, located in Vancouver's oldest commercial district, is a well-known antique-style clock powered by steam and whistles to tell the time. Built in 1977 by Canadian clockmaker Raymond Saunders, it was intended to attract foot traffic to nearby shops and restaurants. Despite its name, the clock also has an electric motor and isn't entirely steam-powered.
This city is truly magical, filled with stunning architecture and vibrant culture. Its streets are alive with energy, showcasing a blend of history and modernity that captivates every visitor. From the charming cafes lining the bustling boulevards to the lush parks providing a serene escape, every corner holds a marvel waiting to be discovered. The sunsets cast a mesmerizing glow over the skyline, enhancing the city's already enchanting atmosphere. Overall, Vancouver is a place that leaves a lasting impression, offering an experience that is nothing short of remarkable.
Sophie R — Google review
Gastown is definitely one of the must-visit spots in Vancouver. It’s the city’s historic heart, with cobblestone streets, old brick buildings, and vintage street lamps that give it a unique charm. The Steam Clock is the highlight, fun to watch and a perfect photo spot. I really enjoyed just walking around, checking out the local shops, art galleries, and trying out cafes and pubs along the way. In the evening the whole place lights up beautifully, making it even more atmospheric. Great for a casual stroll, good food, and a bit of Vancouver history all in one.
Bàng L — Google review
Cool but of history. I think the best times are on the hour when you can hear the whole chime with the number of hours to match the time of day. The quarter chimes are cool as well but the whole chime is spectacular. There are bars you can sit at near by to get a view as well. Won't go out of my way but if you're in the area, worth a stop!
Rahul B — Google review
The Gastown Steam Clock is a unique and charming attraction, even though it is currently under maintenance and not whistling completely. The clock still runs and plays its melody every 15 minutes, though it is running about 3 minutes early. Despite these minor issues, the clock remains a fascinating blend of old-world charm and modern engineering, drawing visitors with its steam-powered whistles and historical significance in Vancouver’s Gastown district. It’s definitely worth seeing for its uniqueness and the atmosphere it creates in the area. Keep in mind to check maintenance status before visiting to catch its full performance.
Vijay T — Google review
A tourist attraction that is centered around a unique steam powered clock in the Gas Town district of Vancouver. The clock runs entirely on steam, and although as of October 2025 the clock is under maintenance, it still plays sound every 15 minutes. Thats the real attraction around this clock and you can time your visit. There is usually a long queue of tourists trying to capture their photo in front of the clock. The neighborhood and the road itself are really nice to be around. This has to be part of your Vancouver visit itinerary.
Avais S — Google review
I expected the Steam Clock to be bigger, but it’s still a fun and charming landmark to see in person. It’s a really popular spot, and there’s always a crowd gathered around waiting for the steam whistle. The best part is that it’s completely free to visit. If you’re in the area, I definitely suggest stopping by to take a picture. However, I don’t recommend going at night — the area doesn’t feel very safe after dark, so it’s better to visit during the day.
Daniel C — Google review
Rare Free attraction in city of Vancouver gas town. Time is not correct. So check your time for sound of the clock every 15 minutes. Longer sound hourly. No wait times. Even good for rainy day.
Steve J — Google review
Great quirky attraction. Would have had 5 stars had the time on the clock been accurate. Visited previously for other concerts but cannot remember which. Our most recent concert was Linkin Park & jpegmafia (Sept 2025). We were fortunate enough to get box seat tickets. Service was fantastic; sound and view were +++. Underground parking was easy to use and security was friendly and helpful. Strongly recommend getting box seats if you can! I would like to complement the stage designers who used the stadium to it's potential.

The Canucks home arena is a great building for watching hockey - once you're in your seat. Steep seating offers good sightlines even from the upper bowl and the arena is in the heart of Vancouver so its easy room reach with public transport (i.e. the Skytrain). Inside the building on the concourses though you can tell that the arena is coming up to age a little bit. Newer buildings offer just more space there and a less cramped/ congested atmosphere...

Fun place, good layout. They have lots of staff, always cleaning up and lots of security to feel safe. Plus, Rogers Arena is nice and close to so many hotels. No restaurants or take out open near by, ya have to walk many blocks to get food afterwards. There are more options now to eat and drink at the arena, it's $$$ but convenient. Great place for concerts and hockey.

We went to Rogers Arena to see The Who, and while the concert itself was fantastic, the overall experience was mixed. The arena is spacious and the sound quality was excellent, making it a great venue for such a legendary band. Staff were helpful, and everything felt well organized despite the large crowd. However, one downside was the number of people using electronic cigarettes during the show. It was supposed to be a family-friendly atmosphere, but the constant vape smoke really took away from the experience. It would be nice if the arena enforced stricter rules about this so that everyone—especially families with kids—could enjoy the concert comfortably. Overall, Rogers Arena is a good venue for big shows, but I hope they improve how they handle vaping and smoking during events.

⛱️ Beautiful and lively beach located in the heart of Vancouver. Clean sand, calm waves, and amazing sunset views. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby, and the atmosphere is perfect for walking or relaxing with friends. Easy to reach by public transport, and there’s convenient parking close to the beach.

English Bay. A fantastic view of the bay, the Pacific ocean, and False Creek with recreational boats moored and going back and forth along with ship / freighters waiting to load and unload. What a view at anytime of the day but especially spectacular as the sun sets. Added to this is the delicious ice cream served on the beach by: "Rain Of Shine ICE CREAM" Great ice cream, great crew!

A great beach in Vancouver, with a beautiful stretch of sand perfect for strolling or relaxing. Fantastic spot to watch the sunset over the water, with great views. Can get crowded during peak hours, but is usually not too bad.

Nature & Parks
Pacific Spirit Regional Park, located near the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, is a vast woodland paradise offering 73km of trails through old-growth trees and a bog with an interpretive boardwalk. This 874-hectare park is one of Canada's largest urban green spaces and features towering second-growth cedars, hemlocks, and Douglas firs. The park's trails are popular among locals for jogging, trekking, biking, and horse-riding.
Amazing urban forest/park in the heart of Vancouver. I take my dog through these trails daily - great mix of leashed and off-leash trails. Nice way to escape from the hustle and bustle of a city for an hour.
Alroy C — Google review
A really beautiful park just a few minutes by walk from campus. I love the vegetation and the fact it is full of blackberry bushes you can just pick and eat. The trails are easy to follow. I wish I would have more time to explore the full area.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Pacific Spirit Regional Park, located in UBC, and I must say it is a truly stunning park. It's the perfect place to take your furry friend for a walk and enjoy the serene surroundings. The park offers a variety of trails suitable for walking, jogging, and even running, catering to different preferences and fitness levels. As you explore the park, you'll come across majestic old trees that add to the park's charm. If you prefer a change of scenery from the lush greenery, you can head towards the seaside, which provides an ideal spot for a delightful picnic. With the current weather, it's the perfect time to indulge in some barbecuing or even sunbathing. Pacific Spirit Regional Park is a vast and beautiful park that offers a tranquil environment to relax and appreciate the breathtaking nature of Vancouver.

A comprehensive review for dog owners, cyclists, walkers, and parents! Pacific Spirit Park is an oasis within our city. DOG OWNERS: this is heaven on earth for dogs! There are many off leash trails to choose from, all of them are clearly marked at the junction points. Please note that Park Rangers frequent the off leash trails because your dog must be under your complete control when off leash; meaning they have no aggression issues and have excellent recall. I have seen fines issued to pup parents who should not have had their pups off leash, they are steep! For dog owners with pups that don’t have good recall, or have anxiety/aggression issues: there are many leashed trails to choose from and these are the safest for your pup and for all the dogs enjoying the park. If you are working on off leash manners or recall with your pup who is anxious/aggressive I would highly consider you choose to muzzle them for their safety and for the safety of everyone else. I have personally witnessed several dog attacks within the park, where the dog parent of the anxious/aggressive dog never thought their dog would take it as far as an attack; but this park has a lot of foot traffic, a lot of dogs and it’s a lot of stimulation for a dog who’s trying to work through these issues. CYCLISTS: this is NOT the park for you if you want to feel like you’re mountain biking. ALL of the cycling trails are shared with dogs and pedestrians. I have witnessed a cyclist who was going way too fast for this environment and took out a toddler stumbling along the path. It was horrible to witness and awful for both the parents of the very hurt child and for the cyclist who felt embarrassed at how insanely fast they were going. I have also seen cyclists going way too fast downhill and fly off their bikes because a dog appears on the path from being in the woods, again this is not the place for ‘mountain biking’ type of cycling. Having said that, it is a great place to take your children or enjoy the park yourself for a beautiful scenic ride. There are many trails that bikes are allowed on and they all connect to main roadways so no dismounting is needed. WALKERS: this is probably one of the most beautiful parks to walk through. Some of the trails are breathtaking in all seasons. If you are someone who is afraid of dogs: stick to the leashed paths. If dogs make you scream, jump, hide behind trees, or people, the off leash trails are not for you. This behaviour is not fair to anyone trying to have a nice relaxing walk with their pup who is behaving perfectly normal, but are simply just walking past you. WALKERS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES: there are many paths in the park that have rough terrain, tree roots sticking out, plus dogs who are off leash either running or walking with their owners. If you are someone who needs assistance when walking, it is safest to stick to the Powerline Trail. It is nice and wide, tightly packed with gravel and has fences on both sides for extra assistance. PARENTS: this is something so magical to share with your children within Vancouver. However, on a busy sunny day it can be packed. If your children are not used to animals, stick to the leashed trails. Dogs are curious creatures by nature and will approach to smell, especially small children, it’s completely normal behaviour and they keep walking after but having a screaming parent run towards their child ‘fearing for their life’ is not conducive to a peaceful environment. If you are trying to expose your children to dogs, this is the place to do it! I have had countless lovely experiences with parents who ask if my dog is friendly enough for their child/toddler to approach (he is the gentlest dog ever) and they have had an opportunity to pet and cuddle and play with him and everyone walks away happy! This park is a MUST DO in Vancouver!

We logged close to 5 miles just in a fraction of the park - it is a huge place! Locals take full advantage of the trails for juggling, walking, with dog or on bike. It is a cool place to exercise and relax on hot summer days.

Huge park! A lot of trails in the park, mostly leash optional, and some are leash-required, and most of trails are in the shade, you can make it a long or short walk as you like! Very well maintained and well marked! My dog loved it!

The Vancouver Maritime Museum is a family-friendly destination that showcases the rich seafaring history of the Pacific Northwest and Arctic regions. Visitors can explore the RCMP Arctic St. Roch, which holds the distinction of being the first ship to navigate both ways through the perilous Northwest Passage and circumnavigate North America. The museum offers interactive displays where kids can engage in activities like driving a tug, operating an underwater robot, and dressing up as seafarers.
This is a great museum to explore and learn about Vancouver and general maritime history. There's an indoor playground, and some other interactive parts that make this a great museum to visit with children. It was fun to enter and explore a historical boat, and there was a lot of information to read and learn about the history. The interactive and guided knot making station was very interesting! Overall highly recommended visit for people of all ages.
Emily S — Google review
My first time here. Free admission today because of Family Day and glad we came. It is way more interesting and expansive a museum than it looks. I found it all to be very interesting. The wait to get onto the RCMP ship took a while even though we arrived only half-an-hour past opening, but it was worth it. The other display rooms past the gift shop are also worth checking out.
Sandra C — Google review
The Maritime museum is a good place to visit, it doesn’t take long it’s small. You can tour the St Roch, an RCMP schooner. There are lots of interesting displays and a kids play area. There is accessible parking with a ramp behind the building that leads to an accessible automatic door. There are toilets available.

Wonderful way to spend a rainy day. Brought a 3 year old here and he had a blast. Great children’s area with amazing costumes, the large RCMP boat was a hit and steering a boat so much fun. Had to pull him away but the pirate eye patch helped get him out the door!

This would be my favourite museum out of the 3 in the that location. There was a lot more to see than I expected. Going onboard the St. Roch boat was really cool. If you like scale model boats you’ll be in heaven. They are incredible. Lots of things to interact with. Plenty of history to read. Absolutely loved it.
Craig H — Google review
A museum dedicated to seafaring equipment and life of soldiers or seamen. It includes a whole police (RCMP) patrolling boat named St. Roch deployed in active sea for 20 years, built in 1928 at Vancouver and having many firsts like circumnavigation around north america through panama canal and navigating the northwest passage in a single season in both directions along with being first to travel the northern deep water route. It has been declared national historical site. Apart from this, the museum houses numerous items of navigation and marine travel to give a glimpse of yesteryears as well modern times. Worth visiting, there is small setup to sell icecream and beverage inside. The ticket prices however are not justified, on Sundays you can enter on donation basis which could be cheaper.
Basant S — Google review
Fantastic place for people (especially children) who love all things to do with seafaring exploration! There are lots of interactive spaces, which certainly help kids engage and learn :) The highlight of the museum is definitely the massive RCMPolice St Roch!

Beautiful venue to see Coldplay by candlelight. Was magic. Reminded me of being in Europe with the wooden ceilings. Stain glass and iron interior buttresses. I would love to see the church host more events for music of many uplifting styles across cultures so it could be a place to unite everyone.

Caught the Candlelight Tribute to Coldplay at Christ Church Cathedral on Burrard Street, and it was magical. The Gothic cathedral, glowing with hundreds of LED candles, set the perfect vibe. Nestled in the vibrant Kitsilano neighborhood, Vanier Park is a picturesque destination that offers breathtaking views of both the ocean and Vancouver's skyline. This charming park is not just about stunning scenery; it’s also home to several cultural gems including the Museum of Vancouver, the H.R. MacMillan Space Sciences Centre, and the Vancouver Maritime Museum. Visitors can easily stroll between these attractions thanks to the park's flat terrain and accessible pathways.
Beautiful park all year round. The park is huge and spacious, there’s lots of room to fly kites or throw a ball. I’ve seen people do yoga, practice swordsmanship, boot camps and play live music among many other things. The city views are unbeatable and you can take a ferry across the inlet to downtown. The Museum of Vancouver and H.R. MacMillan Space Centre are in the park as well. Both are a genuinely good time and worth seeing.

I have often visited this park, and almost always, I see a lot of geese and ducks (sometimes nearly a hundred birds) on the big green lawn and in the lake. In spring, little goslings and ducklings also appear there. But the most amazing thing is that a small lake near the Planetarium gets covered with white lilies in the summer.

The Stanley Park Totem Poles at Brockton Point in British Columbia are a must-see for visitors. This collection of nine totem poles, sourced from remote areas in the province since the 1920s, is a significant representation of Indigenous history and culture. Each totem pole features intricate carvings and unique colors, conveying its own distinct story within the art. These beautiful monumental masterpieces offer a glimpse into the lives and stories of Indigenous people.
Stopped here while cycling around the island on my trip to Vancouver. Great first stop once you get into Stanley park. It was great to see the first nation totem poles, read about the history and learn about their culture. The area has bathrooms, a gift shop and adequate parking for both cars and bikes. I was cycling so only took notice of the bike parking, a rack across the road by the water. There were cars parked outside when I was there.
Jack H — Google review
This is a wonderful tribute to the rich culture and traditions of the native peoples of the region. The carvings are elaborate, colorful, and full of history, and seeing them outdoors among the mist and towering trees feels much more authentic than in a museum setting. The vibrant colors pop beautifully against the deep green forest and gray skies, making it a striking sight for photography as well. It’s not just a cultural experience, but also a very scenic one. Take your time walking around, as each carving tells its own story. Pro tip: Visit early in the day or on a cloudy/misty morning for the most atmospheric views.

Visited June 2025. Stanley Park is beautiful and quite large. We stopped at the Totems, and it is a very nice area to see some local Totems. There was also a little gift shop available. Definitely worth a stop here to take in the local indigenous culture.

This spot in the Stanley Park has quite a few Totem Poles that have been erected across different times. There is signage providing descriptions, history, significance, and timeline of each Totem Pole. There is also clear signage indicating visitors not to enter the area where they are erected, as these are of sacred value to the indigenous people. This site is accessible both by foot and by car. There is also a paid parking lot next to these poles. The gift shop is located behind these poles. A must stop during your visit to Stanley Park.

⭐ Totem Poles – Vancouver, BC Visited the Totem Poles site in Vancouver and it absolutely blew me away. Located right along the beautiful waterfront, the totems stand tall in incredible condition—colorful, detailed, and full of history. The whole area feels magical with the ocean on one side and deep green forest surrounding the site. There’s paid parking nearby on a first-come, first-served basis, and even though the place attracts many visitors, everything is clean, organized, and easy to navigate. You’ll also find convenience shops offering cold drinks, hot coffee, snacks, sandwiches, and plenty of souvenirs. The combination of culture, nature, and peaceful atmosphere makes this spot a must-visit in Vancouver. Highly recommended! 📸🌿🌊

My most favourite spot in Stanley Park. It was good to celebrate the National Indigenous People's day here. There's clean washrooms and a good souvenir shop around the corner. Totem poles are a specific art form created by First Nations and Indigenous People of the Pacific Northwest Coast. Each totem pole has a unique story.

A very upsetting experience that felt discriminatory toward my family while we were waiting for the Aquabus at David Lam Park on September 26, 2025, around 11:10 a.m. At the dock, it was just my family and a couple waiting. When the boat arrived, there were two staff members onboard—a young male staff member with short dark hair, glasses, and facial hair, and a young female staff member inside—as well as one passenger. The male staff member opened the safety gate and greeted only the couple, asking where they were headed. He let the passenger off, radioed for another boat, and told the couple to wait for the next one then just left!!! Even though we were standing closer, he didn’t even look our way! —as if he was going out of his way to ignore us—treating us like we were invisible. We had been excited to experience Vancouver’s kindness and hospitality, which I had proudly told my family about. Instead, we were left feeling disrespected, unwelcome, and deeply hurt. I usually don’t write reviews, but this experience was so upsetting that I felt I had to share it. What happened completely ruined the image I had of Vancouver. I can’t help but wonder if this was an isolated incident, and I hope staff training is improved so all visitors feel welcomed and respected.

The children's library is undergoing a massive renovation, but you can still borrow children's books and attend events and workshops. An old-fashioned cardex can still be consulted. And there are information boards throughout the library for different communities.

Gorgeous library. I wish I'd known of this place sooner and not just the day I left YVR. Clean. Staff are friendly and give directions accordingly. Their rooftop garden sitting area must be gorgeous in the summer/spring. Was refreshing to see a library well kept.

One of the most beautiful libraries in the city. The design feels more like a museum or gallery than a typical library, with lots of natural light and open space. Huge selection of books, quiet study spots, and even a rooftop garden. It’s a great place to read, work, or just enjoy a calm moment in the middle of downtown. Definitely worth checking out, even if you’re just visiting.

Very large, clean, and beautiful public library in the city of Vancouver! There is an observation deck on floor 9 which allows visitors to observe the city from the sky. There are computers in the library for research and catalog search purposes, along with many books, including a multilingual section. This library is a huge resource, from physical media such as CDs to books on law. Great place to visit, I would recommend!

You can borrow musical instruments with your library card for 21 days. Learning to play a musical instrument is a path towards finding your inner peace. I Never had this option when I was growing up here in Vancouver. They have an excellent kids section. Dinosaurs 🦕 are so interesting! The also have international books, magazines or other media. I thank the owners for these options. I thank God for these blessings ✝️.. This review was written in 2025, which is after the COVID-19 pandemic but people exposed to the COVID-19 virus may have developed something called long-covid whereby a person could collapse, experience fatigue, confusion, dizziness and other symptoms. Drinking alcohol makes the symptoms worse. Drinking caffeine after 5 pm (soda pop, tea, coffee, caffeinated energy drinks) will disrupt your sleep and also make your symptoms worse. Symptoms vary as well as intensity. I have spoken to teenagers and seniors or co-workers that had or have long covid. An indicator is if you have difficulty counting backwards from 100. If you cannot do it or struggle counting backwards, you might have long covid. Do an internet search regarding long covid in your location to find out how long covid could impact you or a loved one. Ask your pharmacist or doctor. There are tourists that visit here so verify in your own locality. If you have troubles and no one to turn to remember that Jesus ❤ you! You can also lean on God. Ask G

False Creek, located in Vancouver, is a bustling inlet with 10 marinas offering various boating activities. At its eastern end stands the iconic Science World at TELUS World of Science, resembling a giant metallic orb. Originally an industrial area, False Creek has transformed into a vibrant community with markets and residential buildings. Visitors can explore the area by launching a kayak from Granville Island and enjoy unique views of landmarks such as BC Place Stadium and Olympic Village.
Beautiful walk along the waterfront. Downtown Vancouver across the water, Granville Island and Burrard Street Bridge at the west end of the creek.

The waterway was falsely named Sir George Henry Richards, as he thought he was sailing up a creek where it is actually part of the inlet, that aside it is a lovely stretch of water

A really pretty place to explore with plenty to see and do around the creek. My friend and I often came here to walk and unwind there are several peaceful spots perfect for just relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. We did have a few funny encounters with some grumpy geese now and then, but overall, it’s a beautiful and calming place to spend time.

It was a lovely day to walk along False Creek even though it was cold in winter. It’s fine as long as it’s not raining or snowing. It’s always good to get some fresh air and nice views here. The sunset here was nice. During the daytime, there would be more people (local and tourists). Highly recommended coming here to have a walk if you are in the neighbourhood. You can find coffee shops, bakery, restaurants and etc near by. Great location!

Loved walking around False Creek. Nice place to take someone visiting Vancouver. There's a nice big playground outside science world. Plenty of green space and some Canadia Geese to see. It's a short walk over the Cambie Street Bridge that gives you a good view of downtown, GM place, BC place stadium and Science World. Coffee shops and restaurants in walking distance. You can catch the False Creek ferry here which stops at Granville Island.

This captivating place truly lives by it's description as Vancouver protected views. Either you're just hanging out, walking, jogging, or biking you have everything to see what a beautiful city it is. At any angle of any point of either side of the creek you'll never runs out of fascinating scenes that will eat your time until unnoticiably you're tired and hungry. Don't worry, foods are just all around to buy and eating anywhere is your choice. However, this is a clean place so garbage disposal is a must for everyone.

Pacific Northwest restaurant (Canada)
Restaurant
L'Abattoir is a popular restaurant located in the historic Gastown area of Vancouver. The industrial-chic setting provides a unique atmosphere for enjoying Pacific Northwest cuisine with a French influence, complemented by craft cocktails. Chef-owner Lee Cooper, who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants in the U.S. and UK, leads the kitchen. The restaurant has received numerous accolades from various prestigious lists and guides, solidifying its reputation as one of Canada's best dining establishments.
Pricey, but worth every penny. Each dish is absolutely extraordinary and packed with flavour. Here’s a tip: they have happy hour drinks and appies that come at a great value. The baked truffle mussels are the best I’ve ever had. The bartender and staff were wonderful.

An absolute gem in the heart of Gastown! L'Abattoir delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. We opted for the Chef's Tasting Menu, and it was a spectacular journey. Each course was thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented. The ambiance is intimate and chic, with a vibrant energy that makes it feel special without being stuffy. To top it all off, the service was impeccable. Our servers were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, guiding us through the menu and ensuring our evening was flawless. L'Abattoir is a must-visit for anyone looking for a good dining experience in Vancouver.

Great fine dining restaurant in the heart of gastown. We went there to celebrate our anniversary and the restaurant gave us complementary champagne to mark the occasion. Very nice of them to do so. We ordered the bread basket, tuna crudo, octopus, duck, steak Diane and the strawberry and cream for dessert. For drinks we got the shake senora and don draper which were nice. The best appetizer was definitely the tuna crudo. Both mains were delicious too and the dessert is a must get. Total came out to around $270 before tip. Definitely on the pricier side but we had the perfect amount of food. Service was great and we’ll definitely come back!

Solid upscale restaurant. Made a reservation in advance and was seated immediately. I ordered the pork jowl confit $32, wild pacific halibut $53, and a glass of sauvignon blanc $16. Food is high quality and all the ingredients and flavors were well thought out and meshed well together. Portions and prices felt reasonable. Service was pretty good too. I requested for no added salt or butter, and received a very salty fish, but they gladly exchanged it and brought the new dish out rather quickly. They have a sommelier as well. Very nice restaurant. Quiet, a little dark, intimate setting. Indoor dining only, bar and table seating. I recommend this place
Tim — Google review
Husband and I went for a date night and had the chef's menu. It was excellent. The octopus and the tomato salad were standouts. The halibut was cooked well too, as was the lamb dish. We spent $140 each for the chef's menu (without drinks or service charge) which we thought was good value. We left very full! The desserts were tasty too but the fizzy lemonade one was unexpectedly amazing! Tapioca balls, fizzy lemon, vanilla ice cream, blueberry and raspberry granita... It was such a fun surprise! Service was impeccable and they gladly accommodated my weird kidney transplant food requirements. A must visit.
Anne H — Google review
This place is a can’t-miss—pure class. I sat at the bar for happy hour, and their $10 cocktails are a fantastic deal. The oysters are a must-try, no exceptions. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great suggestions on what drinks to try
Alex C — Google review
We tried the seasonal chef’s menu last week. I was surprised by the presentation of the steak tartare, which appeared as tuna sushi. It tasted really good! I picked the Wild Pacific halibut even though I’m not a big fan of fish. The fish was smooth in texture and went very well with the beurre blanc. I ordered a mocktail, which was quite refreshing, as I had a wine tour that morning, so no more alcohol for me😆
Candy C — Google review
Heard really great reviews about this restaurant and came here for dinner as a back up plan, but left knowing I probably won't return. The vibes here are nice but the menu is lacking in options and portion size. Personally had the Heirloom Tomato Salad, Pork Jowl Confit, and the Wild Pacific Halibut (as pictured) to myself. All dishes were tasty and cooked really well but I was so disappointed my halibut was served barely lukewarm - maybe my dish was cooked faster and the kitchen waited for all our table's dishes to finish before serving them together, but my plate was room-temp-cold, so it tasted like it just waited out in the open (ie. not warmed under a heat lamp). The halibut was cooked and seasoned really well though, no bones. With regards to my comment on portion size, perhaps I have a large appetite or I came post-hike (4-hour difference from my last meal) and was just starving, but I left still feeling hungry after my 3-dish meal. The menu is all a-la-carte only and not filling at all, but that's not the restaurant fault. Despite my disappointment in the food, our server was really nice. Unfortunately, she spoke so softly and too quickly that I almost felt rude asking her to repeat what she said after every few sentences. Aside from that, she was quite prompt (ie. we didn't feel like we had to wait and flag her) and recommended menu items with positive enthusiasm. Other restaurant staff were also really cordial which we appreciated. There is another French restaurant within walking vicinity of here that was more favourable.

One of the most impressive buildings in the city. The location right by the water gives it amazing views of the mountains, ocean, and seaplanes taking off. I've only attended the tail end of the Lyft conference a couple of years ago. So can't say to much. Big and spacious. Catering or food truck thingy was good. You know a fine place to gather many like minded individuals or teams to further their entrepreneurial spirit! Absolutely beautiful exterior and views of the sunrise with great breakfast options near by! Views all hours of the days when the season allows. Board walk around the center and into Stanley park is worth the visit in itself! Peace ✌🏻

We should all be so lucky to have an amazing Convention Center, such as Vancouver, British Columbia. The people that work here and all of the people that reside here welcomed us with open arms. They took care of 45,000 plus of us last weekend. They did all of this with smiles, much love, kindness, and patience. They accomplished all of this while assisting Cruise Ships coming in with 2,700 people. Plus, at the same time of our convention

The university of British Columbia is a beautiful vast expansive campus with great modern facilities and it was actually quite busy even in the summer time with students studying in the student nest and lots of people using their athletic fields was a great overall community atmosphere. The campus has everything from banks to grocery stores and lots of new modern things like the student renting cars, which are super fast and easy for students to rent and return in on campus. There is electric bike stations everywhere lots of eating places as well and the athletic fields are top. Notch watered daily and really, really really well kept the vending machines and juice machine machines are filled in with fresh fruit daily and is really a cool place to visit.

From humble beginnings in 1915 as a collection of so-called "shacks" near VGH, UBC has steadily grown into a world-class university. The research conducted at UBC helps drive progress in many domains. But UBC is also a place where inquisitive and hard-working students from BC, across Canada, and around the world come to learn, grow, and leave better than they arrived.
Brant S — Google review
Great world class university. The campus has put a lot of development into the infrastructure, buildings, bus loop, sports fields, indoor sports, walk ways for foot/cycle traffic, and restaurant options. They have reduced the road ways, which is a good change in the right direction. They are lacking bike racks at each building, and should add those since getting from class to class is much better on scooter or bike, but security cameras and bike racks need to be installed to facilitate that. The new SUB is amazing, and gives students a place to study and hang out. Keep up the great work and innovation. One idea would be to put covered walk ways between buildings (similar to the bus loop cover), as it's raining most of the semesters, if those were made of solar panels, it would be a great use during rain, but also generate electricity for the campus during daylight hours, great dual use of the area. A modular system would allow easy maintenance and relocation as the campus changes and grows.
D S — Google review
A beautiful school. Every effort seems to have been made to make this a well organized and presented place of learning. The landscaping is gorgeous, and in the plethora of new buildings lie some historic finds dating back to the early 1900's, most of which seem to be in use.

This huge world famous university campus is so gorgeous, especially in the fall! It is so colorful everywhere! No wonder it is listed as one of the must-go tourist place in Vancouver as well as a great place to see the fall colors (when the leaves turn different colors in October). I really love their green college (the dorm area for graduate students). It looks like a nice retreat area!!! I wished I could come here for my master!!! Even if I have been to some top universities (e.g., Stanford, Harvard, MIT, etc.), this nice university still wins my heart!!! <3 Highly recommend coming here for a visit even as a tourist!!!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown Vancouver, the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike. Opened in 2008, this gallery pays homage to the legendary Bill Reid, a master Haida artist whose remarkable sculptures and carvings have left an indelible mark on Canadian art.
This was an incredible museum! I had a great time learning about Bill Reid’s work. It was so inspiring! They had two levels with displays of art work. The day I went there, there was some work going on at the lower level and half of it was closed. So the tickets were lower-price tickets that day. I spent around 3 hours in total at this place to check out everything they had. I learnt a lot about different Haida stories through the artwork. On the second level, they show a half an hour movie of how a red cedar tree is transformed into a beautiful totem pole. They also have a space to read and sit and relax.

The Bill Reid Gallery is a cultural treasure in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The space is beautifully curated, showcasing the incredible artistry and legacy of Bill Reid along with works from other contemporary Indigenous artists. Each piece tells a story, and the gallery does an excellent job of providing context that deepens appreciation for the art and the traditions it represents. The atmosphere is calm and reflective, making it easy to slow down and really take in the details. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, blending timeless pieces with modern interpretations, and the quality of the curation truly stands out. Staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions, which adds to the overall experience.

Stunning art gallery with a very cute gift shop. The art work is stunning and very educational for all ages.

Small but powerful. The space is intimate, which lets you really focus on the details of Reid’s work and the broader Indigenous art showcased. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the rotating exhibits often highlight emerging artists. Downsides? It’s compact—don’t expect to spend more than an hour—and the gift shop feels pricey. Still, it’s a meaningful stop if you’re into Haida art or want a quieter cultural experience downtown.

Forbidden Vancouver Walking Tours offers an intriguing experience through the streets of Gastown and other downtown neighborhoods in Vancouver. Led by professional guides, visitors can immerse themselves in the city's history of rum-runners, mobsters, and corrupt law enforcement during the turn of the century. The tour brings to life real historical figures such as feared mob boss Joe Celona, Prohibition Commissioner Walter Findlay, and King of the Gamblers Shue Moy.

We did The Dark Secrets of Stanley Park tour yesterday and it was fascinating! Glenn is a Master Storyteller and had us all captivated with his stories. Myself and my travel buddy were lucky enough to get on to this tour at the last minute. Joelle was our guide and she was absolutely amazing! She was so engaging and her knowledge was exemplary. Her humour was very entertaining and her passion was clearly obvious when sharing these interesting insights into the history of Stanley park, along the tour. We would highly recommend this tour to get into some of the nitty gritty of the colourful history of this most beautiful park. The park itself is just spectacular and expansive. There is something for everyone either local or visiting. We are SO glad we didn’t just walk around the park in our own as this experience has really added to the overall fun and education to this sacred land. Thank you Joelle!

Immerse yourself in the beauty of Vancouver's waterfront with a Sea Vancouver Waterfront Sightseeing adventure. This 1.5-hour boat tour takes you along English Bay and the North Shore, offering stunning views of the city. You'll have the chance to spot wildlife like seals, porpoises, eagles, and even pink salmon jumping in the air. The experience is made even more special by knowledgeable guides who share their love for the area and its natural wonders.
This was an excellent experience and for me, the highlight of our 5 days BC tour trip (we did the city & nature tour). Our boat captain Jake, was an excellent guide as both a steady hand on the water and fun information/ storytelling about all the sites and animals we were seeing - he also was very fun, doing extra 'donuts' in the water at the kids requests. SeaVancouver has wonderful water tours for the cheapest prices we found for similar services, would definitely do their other tours next time

I took my elderly parents on the City and Nature tour and we had such a blast as a family. It completely exceeded our expectations! Jake, our guide was super passionate about Vancouver and the beautiful nature surrounding the city. His eagle eyes spotted a whale and we were able to see some tail in the distance!! The weather was also stunning. Highly recommend for a unique experience of the city.

Initially my dad and I were going to do the whale watching tour but it was sold out. So we landed on doing the city tour with Captain Jake and it was so fun! Captain Jake was a fantastic guide and really went above and beyond with our group. I’m not a fan of the cold weather, but the suits kept us warm and I was so happy I didn’t even care about the cold. In fact, it was actually a beautiful and calm day for October. We saw seals and an eagle and of course a beautiful city view. I am so happy we did this. Thank you Captain Jake for an exciting tour and also the employee who sold us the tickets for your help (I’m sorry I don’t know your name. She had short blonde hair).

Highly recommend the City and Nature Tour with Jake! The boat ride was so enjoyable, as we moved around the city harbor and towards the mountains. We were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful landscapes of forest, water, and mountains. We were lucky enough to see a large group of seals lying on the rocks together and even went far enough out to see 5 whales for a few minutes before we watched them each take a deep dive.

We had the most amazing scenic tour with Thomas. When a different company cancelled our whale watching tour last minute we were devastated. We decided to book a quick tour with Prince of Whales and since it was a same day booking, we were limited to the scenic wildlife tour. Once we told Thomas how disappointed we were he told us he’d do his best to make this an amazing trip. And boy was he right! Not only did we get to see bald eagles, seals, and an amazing view, we got to see whales! Three of them and it was by far the highlight of our trip. Thank you Thomas, so so much for the most amazing tour.
Jessi M — Google review
We don’t often do the usual tourist stops, but a friend of mine who recently moved to Vancouver had taken your whale watching tour and suggested we try it out. Due to our limited schedule, we chose the City and Nature Tour with Jake — and it exceeded all our expectations!! Jake is a wonderful guide: friendly, knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife, and with an incredibly keen eye. On our return to the harbor, Jake spotted humpback whales in the distance, and we got to see them surface and dive. Then, as we got closer in, he also saw a pod of orcas, which we were able to stop and watch for a few minutes. Everyone we spoke to at Sea Vancouver was nothing short of professional, friendly, and helpful — from Billie when we called, to Victor who handled our check-in, to Jake as our captain. I would absolutely do this again when we’re back in Vancouver and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a fabulous experience and spectacular view of the city.

This individual is a true enthusiast who gives precise historical details about the city of Vancouver but also about the surrounding wildlife. It is rare to be able to enjoy the presence of such a kind and cultured individual. Thank you again Thomas for this beautiful father-son moment.

Last weekend, my girlfriends and I booked the City and Nature tour with Sea Vancouver because of the fun itinerary compared with other tour operators. It was a last-minute decision made the night before, and it surpassed our expectations. Captain Sasha was amazing, expertly navigating choppy waters so we could see all the beautiful sights including a group of adorable harbor seals. I felt safe in Captain Sasha's hands as she used to work for the Coast Guard, plus we learned some great info about Vancouver along the way. The boat ride was super fun and exhilarating, and resembled an amusement park ride given the bouncy movements atop the big waves. We had a lot of fun, and it was a superb way to end our girls' trip to Vancouver!
