The Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck, Nova Scotia pays tribute to the great inventor and his various passions including medicine, flight, and visible speech. The museum features models of his work, mementos, and interactive exhibits showcasing his experiments. Visitors can explore Bells' legacy and learn about his significant contributions to technology and communication.
Interesting place to visit. Lots of great I formation. Almost all of it printed so a lot of reading. A couple of nice films that tell the story in video with actual photos and videos of events. The planes and other exhibits were amazing. Many small kiddos wandering and seem entertained. Nice gift shop and cafe.
Alexandra M — Google review
So many artifacts of such a fascinating and brilliant man! Bell’s dynamic wife is also deservedly celebrated. Great insight into his work and the science behind his sound inventions. Well designed displays. Places to sit and rest or contemplate. Well maintained grounds. Nice gift store with several souvenirs. The museum made me want to learn more about Alexander Graham Bell.
Scott J — Google review
A fascinating and inspiring visit! We visited the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site during our fall trip to Baddeck, and it was absolutely worth it! The exhibits were well-organized, showing not only Bell’s famous telephone invention but also his other amazing work in aviation and innovation. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they made the experience even more engaging for the kids. It’s great that admission is free for youth and children, a perfect educational stop for families. The location overlooking the Bras d’Or Lake is beautiful, and we enjoyed a short walk around after the museum. Highly recommend visiting if you’re in Cape Breton!
Aîmêē T — Google review
We only had 30 minutes since the museum closed pretty early and a nice lady gave us advice to go to the back where more bigger exhibits were displayed. With this advice, we were able to get more than half of the museum done but I wished we spent more time there to experience the museum to its full potential. Overall, the museum was a great place with a gift shop and cafe and it was a fun experience and my family and I learned a lot about Alex Graham Bell and his life and saw his inventions.
Kriya P — Google review
Museum was informative, and really captured the essence of Alexander Graham Bell's legacy. It also gave an insight into his personal life, which was super interesting as well. We only spent an hour here tho and I feel that the most time you could spend here is 2 and a half hours.
Cinnabum D — Google review
If one "controls" the present (i.e., has $$$'s from AT&T stock), one can re-narrate the past. In reality, many folks were working on tele-audio and A.G.B. got to the patent office, with the right documentation, first before Elisha Grey. Assisted by hundreds of patent attorneys, Bell Telephone became a business and then became wildly profitable due to Theodore Vail and many "captains of industry" that captured the profits by creating a (natural?) monopoly protected by government edict. Yes, lots of benefits for human-kind, but it could have easily happened a different way. In my opinion, that is the much more interesting history that wont be told here.
Douglas R — Google review
A big and beautiful museum highlighting and celebrating the momentous achievements of Alexander Graham Bell, his wife Mabel and his associates. It's a walk down the lanes of history. The area around the museum as well, is picturesque and well-maintained. Definitely worth a visit.
Chowdhury Z — Google review
Facisnating Museum, detailing the life and achievements of Mabel and Alexander Graham Bell. From supporting the deaf (the best bit!) to the design of the telephone to hydrafoil boats and planes! Lots to read and see, good facilities and plenty of parking. A must stop. Only feedback is some arrows on the floor to guide you around the exhibits would help as it is not an intuitive flow.

Seafood restaurant
If you're looking for a true taste of the sea, Baddeck Lobster Suppers is the place to be. This charming, family-owned spot focuses on serving up fresh, locally sourced seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. Forget about fancy dining; here you can indulge in hearty dishes like stuffed haddock and an array of lobster options.
Visited this evening and completely blown away not just by the food (which was excellent), but the service as well. For such a busy restaurant, the staff is very attentive (Shout out to Eli who was our server) On the food, can't go wrong with any selection. We went with four course meal, and it did not disappoint. The lobster and the Salmon were both equally enjoyed! Come in with an appetite, as the first courses of the chowder & mussels were delicious. Also nice to see it having a long history & family run
Brian D — Google review
Amazing dinner! The chowder and mussels were great, but try not to fill up on them or you won't have room for your entree. We ordered the King crab and salmon. Both were cooked well. For dessert we got the blubbery crumble and coconut cream pie. Both were homemade and delicious. I would definitely go back!
Silvana M — Google review
The atmosphere here is hard to beat! The live musician was incredible, and the whole restaurant was buzzing with excited patrons and a cozy family-run vibe. My husband and I split a cup of chowder and bowl of mussels (I really don’t think the AYCE option is necessary) and neither blew me away. The mussels were slightly overdone but still yummy. The highlight is the shellfish! My husband and I just had such a genuinely fun time eating this meal, retrieving our meat, wearing our silly bibs and enjoying every bite. The lobster was great but the snow crab was incredible! It may be a bit of a tourist hot spot but I can understand why and it truly was a very enjoyable dinner spot! Worth the wait!
Jessica C — Google review
We had an okay seafood experience at Baddeck Lobster Suppers during our stop in Cape Breton. The setting was casual and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We came for the classics and ordered lobsters and a bucket of mussels. The lobster was definitely the highlight—juicy, fresh, and had that perfect bouncy texture that tells you it’s been cooked just right. It was served simply but done very well, letting the quality of the lobster shine. The mussels, on the other hand, were a bit underwhelming. They were quite small and not as flavourful as we had hoped. We later found out that they were a special type from PEI, which might explain the size. Still, they didn’t stand out the way we expected them to, especially compared to mussels we had elsewhere in the Maritimes. Overall, this was a satisfying and no-frills seafood experience. If you're looking for good lobster in a relaxed setting, this is a dependable spot. I’d give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
Marcus L — Google review
Absolutely delicious!! Usually, these places cannot season food, but, as a black woman, I can attest that they can cook and season lobster! It was absolutely delicious! Kindest serves - we had Elsie and she was so sweet and attentive. The desserts were a dream - phenomenal! Best experience ever! Worth the whole drive from Ontario!
Lottoya M — Google review
We had an amazing meal here. The all you can eat mussels and chowder meal is probably the best bang for your buck you're going to get visiting Cape Breton. All the food was delicious, service was great, and atmosphere was inviting.
Immy V — Google review
This was a last minute idea for us before boarding the ferry to NFLD, so we were tight on time. It was very busy but the staff was kind and helped get us served quickly. The lobster and muscles were so worth the wait and the atmosphere was the perfect maritime experience!
Mrs B — Google review
From start to finish our experience was great. Our server was quick and knowledgeable about the menu and was able to work around my wife's food allergy.. My wife had the crab where as I had the All you Can Eat muscles clam.chowder with a whole lobster and a desert that we had shared. Cooked to perfection.

The most charming theatre experience you could ask for! Theatre Baddeck centers shows that cater to the Nova Scotian spirit and are sure to delight and warm your heart. Their new endeavor in their new location is AMAZING. The building already looks so great and I cannot wait to see once they're able to continue the renovations. A MUST SEE when visiting Cape Breton and I highly encourage you to support their funding campaign for the next stage in their development!

A perfect afternoon at “Ed’s Garage”. We were new to Theatre Baddeck and didn’t know what to expect - and we had an incredible time. Their newly renovated space is a stunning addition to the community, and the performance was top tier - excellent acting, thoughtful set and lighting, and perfect musical accompaniment. Go out for an afternoon or evening and support local theatre and local art!

Had a GREAT time here for vacation from the states❣️ Someone nearby recommended we catch a play here in Baddeck. I LOVED the first production so much, "Ed's Garage", that I HAD to come back to see the other before wrapping up our vacation! NO REGRETS!!! Such talent and from all over the country. VERY impressed. Thank you, Theatre Baddeck! I'll be back ;-) P.S. Music is ALWAYS appreciated ❣️

Spectacular performances by every actor …and what an up close and personal experience for the audience in this new Theatre space! I was mesmerized by the action ….actors moving on and off the stage….hilarious dialogue AND wonderful musical performances! Just a delightful night out for me and my family.

We seldom attend events like these however, it came highly recommended so we decided to attend. We had a great evening. So much talent on the stage floor. We thoroughly enjoyed the play and we were impressed by the venue as well as the local talent. Well done! We would highly recommend you stop by and experience this theatre company!

💖 What a fantastic show! I was laughing from start to finish. The story was so light and heartwarming, beautifully capturing the spirit of a Cape Breton family. It felt like coming home. The cast brought such warmth and authenticity, and the humor was spot-on. I left with a full heart and a sore belly from laughing. Highly, highly recommend! 👌

The Baddeck Gathering Ceilidhs in Nova Scotia offers a traditional experience of attending a kitchen party with open performances including music, dance, and storytelling. Visitors can witness or participate in the lively event where Gillian Head and Jason Roach showcase Cape Breton fiddling and piano playing. The intimate setting allows for genuine engagement between artists and the enthusiastic audience, creating an unforgettable experience.
Delightful evening of Cape Breton music. Tonight's musicians Gillian Head and Jason Roach were so full of energy and charm. Incredible how the organisers have kept this up every day for 25 years, and I am so grateful they do.
Bao E — Google review
We came late due to being held up at The Lobster Galley restaurant nearby, but we were kindly allowed in. Didn’t know what I was expecting, but the musicians were pros and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We were so lucky to get to hear Brian Doyle on the guitar—what incredible talent and work on display. There are performances every night during the summer season at least. Learn about ceilidhs and the musical history of Cape Breton while enjoying good music, new friends, and a hot tea and oat cake!

What an AMAZING evening! Our family spent one night in Baddeck and we’re so glad we chose to attend the ceilidh. It was such a cool experience being surrounded by people from all over, in a little hall, sharing in the sounds of some beautiful music. If you are in Baddeck, you have to check it out! Dara & Adam performed when we were there, and they were absolutely incredible. Like seriously talented and a joy to listen to. I’d say it’s for all ages - We brought our 6 month old and he loved it. We did not bring infant headphones, but it wasn’t too loud for him.
Laurysa M — Google review
What an experience! I had the chance to attend this gathering in Ireland. Although there was no Guinness, they served a great cup of tea instead. We were blessed to see Rose Morrison and Buddy MacDonald, both international-level artists from the region who modestly took the time to present their work. Thanks, John! Way to go!
Wellington L — Google review
Dropped in on a whim and despite being half an hour late, got great seats to an unexpected and unforgettable experience. There is such quiet pride in the island's Celtic heritage, and nowhere is it more on display than during these musical performances. Melody and Derrick Cameron were brilliant musicians and consummate hosts, making the entire experience interactive as well, and Brian Doyle's impossible skill at guitar really rounded out the night. Come for a real sense of the community, stay for the music, oatcakes, and tea!
Eva Y — Google review
An unforgettable experience that is not to be missed if you are ever in Baddeck. From June to October for 7 days a week for the past 25 years a Ceilidh Gathering has been happening here. People in the audience from Denmark, Mexico, multiple US states, and almost all provinces of Canada were represented tonight. Buddy Macdonald and Rachel Davis entertained us with such beautiful Celtic and Gaelic music full of pep and gusto that it had us singing along, clapping and foot stomping throughout the 2 hour show. Complimentary tea and oatcakes served during the break.
Phil V — Google review
We had the pleasure of hearing Gillian Head and Brian Doyle. It was some of the best live music we’ve ever experienced. The host was great. The entire thing was lovely.

During the summer months, visitors can take a ferry operated by the Lions Club to reach the island and enjoy lifeguard services at the beach. If you're looking to travel to a place when you will get one with nature.. this is the place. The whole area is quite incredible. Go, travel, be, have fun. The time is now.

Nestled along the picturesque shores of Baddeck, Cape Breton Island, The Freight Shed: Waterside Bistro & Market is a charming lakeside dining spot housed in a quaint weatherboarded building. With its inviting beamed ceiling and relaxed atmosphere, this bistro specializes in serving up fresh local seafood paired with an impressive selection of regional beers.
It was a cold day but the server brought us warm blankets so we could continue dining outside. Food was excellent. The lobster roll had just the right amount of seasoning. Mussels were cooked well. Salad was fresh and flavourful. Lobster pasta was really good. Portion sizes were good. The ambience was comfortable without being overly fancy.
Justin K — Google review
We had a lovely night at The Freight Shed in Baddeck. The soft lighting and mellow music created a warm, welcoming vibe. Service was attentive and courteous throughout. I had the lobster pasta—generous with lobster and tasty sauce, though the red peppers weren’t a fit in that plate in my opinion. My partner’s surf and turf dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious—highly recommended. The location at the end of the wharf is stunning. Just one small note: I’ll ask for my red wine a little cooler next time. Overall, a wonderful evening!
Cynthia T — Google review
Perfect location right at the harbour, they were busy but our server was so nice, friendly and apologetic that things weren't moving fast. Drinks were amazing and our food came out actually very fast. Everything was delicious and well presented. We arrived early enough that we had no problem getting a table but we certainly saw things were busy as we left. Definitely glad we stopped in!
Jozy — Google review
Tried this place, and honestly, it was a mixed experience. The ambiance and presentation were nice, and the food tasted good overall — but definitely not worth the price. We had to wait around 40-50 minutes just to receive our order, which felt way too long, especially considering how packed the place was. It seems like they’re not equipped to handle the rush efficiently. When the food finally arrived, the presentation was impressive, and flavors were decent — but the quantity was surprisingly small for what they charge. Another big issue was the menu pricing. A lot of prices were either not clearly mentioned or misleading as mentioned market prices, and when the bill came, it was much higher than expected. In summary: good-looking and decent-tasting food, but overpriced, slow service, and not great value for money. Wouldn't recommend unless you're okay paying a premium for style over substance.
Y G — Google review
Definitely recommend stopping by the freight shed if you’re passing by Baddeck. Theres no question that everything was fresh and who ever is making the sauces for the meals, you’re doing a great job! The haddock was the only thing that was a bit plain but the potatoes and veggies that came with it were great. I honestly can’t decide which one of the rest of the dishes we ordered is my favorite so I’d recommend trying just anything! We sat inside but I also saw that they offer people sitting outside a blanket if it gets a little windy, which is a nice touch. Great service
Jordan N — Google review
We had the most wonderful lunch in Beddeck and thanks to our server Kristy! She was incredibly warm attentive and always been smiling! We were lucky to have gotten a table outside with beautiful seaside view. The food was absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh. This was our first time visiting this charming town, and everything felt so perfect: the gorgeous scenery, the tasty food, and the kind, friendly people.
Joy — Google review
We visited the restaurant twice on an overnight stay in Baddeck. It is one of the only restaurants open in the off season. We interacted with a number of the staff and all were very pleasant and friendly. The live music on Sunday was great. Even our 4 month old enjoyed it. The waterside restaurant location is quite small and more of an intimate dining experience. For supper we had fish chowder, crab dip, haddock and salmon and everything was fantastic. The chowder was one of the best we have ever had. For breakfast we had eggs Benedict and blueberry pancakes and enjoyed everything. We are already planning our next visit. 5 stars all around !!
Alix B — Google review
Enjoyed a delicious meal at this popular Baddeck restaurant on the waterfront. Our server was very friendly and the food was outstanding. We had crab dip as a starter and my wife had the crab cakes and I had the fish tacos (cod). We sat outside on the night of the harvest moon. Overall an awesome dining experience.

Uisge Bàn Falls Provincial Park offers a picturesque hiking experience through a hardwood forest, showcasing the vibrant colors of fall. The trail leads to the magnificent Uisge Bàn Falls, nestled in a granite gorge. As you journey through different forest types and into the valley, you'll encounter scenic viewpoints and diverse landscapes. The 1.5 km trail passes through maple, birch, and beech woods before culminating at the stunning 50-meter waterfall.
Took a short drive from where we were staying in Baddeck to go see this waterfall. The trail had just been groomed and it was pretty easy to get up to the falls. There was a bit of a rock scramble at the end to get close to take pictures. The water seemed to be down a bit but I’m sure it’s amazing in the spring after the snow melt. We enjoyed the hike and can certainly recommend! Took less than an hour up and back and taking pictures.
Karl P — Google review
Amazing hike with amazing natural scenery and a gorgeous waterfall with a background setting to take your breath away. Our team at PhotographingInTheMoment (insta) loved the hike and overall experience that the trail had to offer. If you're looking to get out into nature and would like an easy hike, we highly recommend hiking Uisge Falls Trail.
Zeph M — Google review
A beautiful trail to a waterfall if you are in the Baddeck area. 45 minutes to the waterfall. Plan in 90 minutes. A bit of rocks to climb over at the end, but well worth it as you can get pretty close.
Corey M — Google review
Gorgeous fall color. Hike not that difficult, a beautiful waterfall at the end. Parking area is large enough. Dont forget to go to the bridge to take pictures, but remember, trail is not that way. A great stop in the cabot trail.
Arka D — Google review
Cool place. The main trail to the falls is an easy walking trail (gravel) until just before the falls where it gets rocky and rooty. The other part of the trail that goes along the river is a bit more rugged (typical single track) but not very technical and easily navigable. There are some nice river swimming spots along the river part of the trail.
Thomas C — Google review
Lays nicely in the forest. Large parts of the trail were closed off sadly but it's possible to get the waterfall anyway. Long rather rough gravel-road but acceptable. Saw some nice butterflies, trees, and for some reason strawberries (?).
Nils P — Google review
The trail starts off with a lovely beginner feel with easy gravel paths along the river. As you progress, the trail gets more of a hiking vibe with views of rough waters. Once you beat the beginning and near the end, the trail turns to a more intermediate level hike, no more gravel, climbing some rocks and traversing a section that only one person at a time can cross or risk falling. The reward is epic, one of Nova Scotias highest and most beautiful falls. Enjoy 🙂
Kristan J — Google review
Wow wow wow. Easy to find. Bit of a rough road getting there but overall not bad. Easy hike well maintained and good for almost any person. As you get closer the trail becomes a bit more difficult and not as flat be prepared. You walk by all these mini flows and falls and then you get to the grand finale which is absolutely beautiful. Huge amazing waterfall. We tried to climb up and see more but it’s too hard with the proper gear. I highly suggest visiting this waterfall. Water wasn’t bad I went for a little dip and the current isn’t to crazy or deep.

Kidston Lighthouse, located on Kidston Island, is a popular destination known for its sandy beach and lifeguard. Visitors can enjoy a free pontoon boat ride to the island, where they can relax on the beach and explore the lighthouse. The island also features public bathrooms and a nearby boutique showcasing various arts and crafts. Additionally, some recommend viewing the lighthouse from the Alexander Graham Bell Museum or taking a kayak tour to the island for a unique experience with dinner and music under the moon.
Visited on a short cruise. Beautiful setting!
Keith B — Google review
Great place to fight the heat! The supervised swimming section is quite small and limited though with rough sand. It is a sandy entrance into the water though and a gentle descent into deeper water. Rough on the feet after awhile though. Trails are available straight to the lighthouse door and around and through the island. They are marked here and there but are not maintained and be prepared to go off trail into the woods to avoid large fallen trees. The swimming area is great for city folk wanting to see sea creatures! As seen in my pictures attached here in, we found a d held a tiny purple sea star and then came across a dead dark purple jelly fish. Plus there are countless little fish and crayfish swimming and crawling around your feet. All in all, the ferry ride to and fro is free and it's a great place to spend a hot humid day!!

Nice little light house, we didn’t go to the island as we didn’t have enough time to spend at Baddeck. Probably next time. Just before the dusk sunlight shines this lighthouse, best time for a photo opportunity. A good place to see this light house is from the Alexander Graham Bell Museum.

We did a full moon kayak tour to the lighthouse where we had dinner and music under the moon. We had the whole island to ourselves! Lighthouse was beautiful and fun to photograph. Tour was with north river kayak out of Baddeck

Great island/beach adventure! There is a free scheduled pontoon boat ride (donation based service - funded through the Lion's Club) over to the island where there is a nice beach to relax on as well as a lighthouse to walk over to and observe. There are public bathrooms as well. It makes for a great mini day adventure. Our team at photographinginthemoment (insta) enjoyed the island and perspective of beautiful Baddeck. Enjoy

This is a limited review as we didn't actually go out to the island, as we were limited on time. But it's a beautiful light house. You can get some really nice views and pictures right from town. Although I would like to have gone out to get a closer look.

Restaurant
Located in Baddeck, Cape Breton, the Lakeside Restaurant at Inverary Resort offers a unique dining experience with its stunning views of the Bras d'Or Lakes. The restaurant serves delicious Nova Scotia seafood, local beer, and wine. Guests can enjoy breakfast or dinner while taking in the picturesque lakeside scenery. The on-site restaurant is known for its incredible seafood dishes and Nova Scotian specialties such as oatcakes and lobster.
Every moment was special. We booked a late reservation coming in after finishing the Cabot Trail. They readily agreed to wait for us if we ran late. We arrived and asked to be seated outside. There was no seating available so she graciously gave us soft seating for a drink while the guests finished their meals. The cocktails were perfect. Icy cold but not watered down in ice. The Pepsi for our son was served with the same care as the cocktails. We enjoyed the seafood fettuccine and the seafood trio. The seafood was beautiful chunks of lobster and white fish along with whole shrimp and scallops. It t came is a creamy seafood sauce that coated the pasta well but did not drown the pasta. It was a lovely bite overlooking the harbour. To close the evening we shared the chocolate torte. Even as the last guests to leave we were offered coffee or a last drink. We did not feel rushed but respected . I would recommend the restaurant for the visual appeal, the atmosphere the menu and the service. Well done.

We were told at hotel reception that the restaurant was booked solid from 6- close but we could be seated if we went at 5. We were able to book an online reservation for 6:30 and then sat in a nearly empty restaurant for over an hour. Not sure what that was about- Our food was just Ok: very overpriced for what we received. The oysters weren’t great- and served with some sort of vinaigrette in a plastic container. Our seafood pasta was flavorless and the cream sauce was runny. The dessert was an “oatcake sundae” which was a normal ice cream sundae with an oatcake on top. My husband then ordered a coffee which arrived in a diner mug with a bowl of plastic creamers. All this would be fine if we weren’t being charged $44 for an entree, but that wasn’t the case. Our server was friendly, but it ultimately didn’t make up for the lack of quality in the food.

My husband and I brought our 2 boys to Cape Breton, we drove a long way from PEI. When we arrived it was already 19:00. Lakeside was one of the restaurants that was still open. We were greeted professionally and the overall services were good. We came near the end of season (we were told the restaurant would be temporarily closed one day after our dinner) so they did not offer everything in the menu. We ordered coconut shrimp and bacon-wrapped scallops as starters to share, followed by a sirloin steak, salmon and duck breast as mains. The food arrived gorgeously and they tasted good as well. Overall we had had a great dinner in lakeside and felt warmed with their services.

Very enjoyable meal in a beautiful spot with very nice staff! Prices very reasonable. *Please read the low * reviews with a grain of salt. Just salty people.

We recommend you take the time to check this spot out. Provides both indoor and outdoor space. Great menu and the food presentation was top notch. We hit the patio for an afternoon of live music and cocktails running 3p-6p. As Hospitality Professionals we were disappointed that our lunch order was not put through and we were not told until the kitchen was closed for the dinner turnover. Kudos to the Manager who saved the afternoon and had us staying for dinner!! Check out the Sea-Cuterie Board, Layered Potato Salad, and hand cut Fries!!

Breakfast buffet was delicious. Had the sip and shuck, the shuck guy was so friendly, the service was great!

Positively the worst hotel breakfast I can remember. Over cooked fish cakes, very little choice and a Danish pastry I couldn't eat. My dinnerlast night was ok but my partner's was inedible. Such a shame when it's such a lovely location.

Nestled in the heart of Cape Breton Island, Ceilidh Country Lodge offers simple rooms and cabins, some with picturesque lake views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were quite disappointed that we had only reserved one night. Our room was lovely, and the mattress was exceptionally comfortable! We also appreciated the stunning views from our private balcony. The staff were both polite and friendly. We would certainly choose to stay here again.

Great stay!! Absolutely no complaints. Room was standard. Water pressure was great. Beautiful view of the lake from the deck. Breakfast was delicious, with some eggs, bacon, bread, cereal and some other options. Great location close to whatever you need in town - walking distance.
Natasha J — Google review
Clean rooms and friendly staff- the rooms are quite dated mid 80's. The breakfast was good, not continental, full breakfast buffet. Price was fair and location was close to basic amenities. I would revisit.
Shawn S — Google review
I recently stayed at this amazing lodge in Baddeck for two nights with my family and had an absolutely excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was top-notch, and every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Our rooms were immaculately clean and comfortable, which made for a relaxing stay. The hotel’s location is ideal, providing convenient access to all the great local cafes and restaurants in town. The only small suggestion we have is to expand the breakfast menu, but this didn't take away from our 5-star experience. We highly recommend this hotel!!
Kanwar S — Google review
The location of the hotel is nice, but the house itself is so outdated! The rooms are equipped with worn-out interior and there are very loud noises from the refrigerator and the ventilation in the bathroom. A completely unstable, unusable internet is unacceptable nowadays! The top of the iceberg was the very simple breakfast, served on disposable tableware! So much waste!!! This is while the government tells us to use paper straws… Unbelievable!
Annett K — Google review
We only stayed one night and it was a great experience. Our room was clean and comfortable. The area is beautiful with lots to do within walking distance. Staff were friendly and breakfast was great.
Immy V — Google review
Fair place to stay a night. Typical motel-type set-up on one particular building- long building with rooms above and below. Nice view from 2nd story rooms. Bathroom was sizable. Beds were cozy. Main registration house had a lovely wrap- around porch with nice furniture. Breakfast room was nice. Breakfast seems to be typical for the area - paper plates - cereal, English muffins, toast, sausage patties and fried egg. Jam.

Older lodge that is EXTREMELY clean. The staff are all very friendly. Great view of Bras d'Or Lake. Very central location and the cutest breakfast area that makes you feel that you are in Cape Breton.

The Bras d'Or Yacht Club, established in 1913, is a well-known and highly regarded establishment in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. The club's upper lounge, known as The Tiller and Wheel, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for visitors to unwind, socialize, and enjoy their time.
A bunch of us visiting from PEI stopped by during Celtic Colours Saturday evening before taking the bus to the closing. Had a great time met some very nice people, danced, listened to some great music and of course enjoyed some local beers. Thanks for a great time and so nice meeting some local people. Great place to go. 👍

Nice spot, staff was friendly. It took 1:30 to get our food, so not great. Overall the food was good, but, whatever you do, don’t get pizza. I would say it’s by far the worst pizza i had in my life, including the frozen pizza i have at home. So for the nice spot, nice and friendly staff and overall good food, i recommend. Just dont get the pizza.

I don’t come too often (only every end of May as part of the Cabot Trail Relay post-race celebrations, i.e. Leg 18), but the picturesque location, the exceptional service, the tasty beverages and the local entertainment/music are of the finest quality and quintessential East Coast. A must visit stop on any tour of Cape Breton/the Cabot Trail!
Dan W — Google review
Having been loyal patrons of Baddeck and Bras d'Or Yacht Club for years and utilizing their boat launch ramp every other weekend, we were dismayed to discover a sudden and drastic price increase in 2024. Previously paying $10 per use, the ramp fee has now skyrocketed to $25 per use - a staggering 150% surge. The aggressive price hike is unwarranted and simply exorbitant. Such a substantial increase has left a bitter taste and unfortunately, has deterred us from returning in the future. The unreasonable change in pricing not only impacts our budget but also diminishes the overall value we once found in utilizing the boat launch ramp at Baddeck. Regrettably, we will be exploring alternative options moving forward, as this sudden shift in pricing has significantly dampened our enthusiasm for visiting Baddeck.
Cinthia I — Google review
COVID has really cut back the attendance, hardly anyone there...not the lively place it was in 2019...they had live music 4 times week in 2019, now it's MAYBE one day a week. So hopefully it makes a comeback...still nice spot for a cold drink and a second floor view of the Bras dOr, locals stop in for a beer... friendly spot...
Henry A — Google review
The boat ramp is great. With that said... There is a $10 fee to launch a boat and there is nowhere on the property to park with a boat trailer. They will recommend parking at the local arena clear across town. This is a small gripe but a heads up... Be prepared to walk across town if you want to launch a boat here...

Nice boat, kind couple, and they worked with the weather. Provided a great experience for a US family vacationing in Nova Scotia for the first time. Thank you

Captain does a nice job showing off the local beauty of Bras D’Or Lakes. The sole previous review is not from a customer, but an apparently annoyed transient boater. Halyard noise is part of boating. Do not give a poor review to a business you have never patronized because of a loose halyard. This is unethical.
Paolo S — Google review
Had a wonderful trip with Paul, Tracy and Gaye on this beautiful boat. The snacks, service and company were top notch and the boat is kept in immaculate condition. We went with a group of family and i cannot recommend them enough.

These guys were great. The boat is beautiful the food delicious and the conversation even better. Thanks to the captain and his daughter from us alberta folk.
Shawn B — Google review
Paul was nice but we expected more for how expensive it was. We did the 2 hour tour and wanted the sailing experience but instead we used the motor and didn’t open the main sail. If winds were the problem, wish he had communicated that. It wasn’t worth the price.
L W — Google review
There are so many beautiful sites in Cape Breton, but seeing Bras d'Or Lakes from a luxury catamaran, with only the wind to move you is one of our favorite experiences. Thanks, Paul, for a wonderful 3 days! Deb & Glenn

Exhibits poor seamanship. Leaves the main halyard slapping the mast (LOUDLY!) while the boat is at dock, despite knowing there are fellow sailors staying aboard their own vessels. Requests to secure the halyard were IGNORED.

Visited as a privately booked small group cruise excursion. Better price and content than what the cruise line offered onboard. Very friendly and professional driver who picked us up by the pier, drove safely and brought us back to the ship on time with no hassle, given the limited hours our ship stayed at port. If you want to see the world famous Cabot Trail during your visit to Sydney (NS), not all cruise lines offer this option. I would recommend it personally but the whole experience will very much depend on the time of the season. If you are lucky enough to come at the right time when the red leaves are in full bloom this place can offer some of the best coast line autumn foliage spectacles anywhere in the world.

Hello! My mom and I had the pleasure of taking one of these tours, and Shane was our host. We were with another couple, and instead of a big tour bus, it was a regular caravan. Talk about an awesome opportunity to have one on one conversation. Shane was beyond informative. He knew the history, different species, ancestry, fishing, park etc. He was very patient with us asking for extra time to take pictures and view the scenery. The trip itself was worth every penny! The leaves were just about at their peak for fall colours. Highly recommended!!! Im usually the driver and this was a perfect opportunity to sit back and enjoy!!

My husband and I took the Cabot Trail tour on Aug. 6. We had been looking forward to this tour for a while hoping to learn more about the area and enjoy an interesting experience. Unfortunately, it was boring and unenlightening. The driver gave almost no commentary about the history or background of the area. Instead he drove with determination and long silences. Most of the passengers dozed off during the trip. Aside from an uncomfortable ride bouncing along in the back seat and hurting my back, we were highly disappointed with our trip. What should have been memorable was quite forgettable. We feel that we wasted our time and money.

After six days and five nights, I walked around the three provinces of Eastern Canada and returned to the starting point. I missed the whole trip very much. . Of course, the most important factor is to meet a good tour guide and driver - Xiao Fu. The guide was enthusiastic and kind, detailed and able to adjust the itinerary according to weather conditions. The important thing is that he also included the scenic spots he visited privately. Before arriving at the terminal, Xiao Fu showed off his good singing voice and let us end with a beautiful song. , the three northeastern provinces that were originally unfamiliar. Nature & Parks
St. Ann's Provincial Park in Nova Scotia is possibly the smallest park of its kind, or at least very close to it. It essentially consists of a roadside pull-off with a couple of picnic tables and restroom facilities. However, despite its size, it serves as a convenient resting spot for many travelers passing through the area. Its location near the water adds to its appeal, making it an attractive place to take a break and enjoy some food while rejuvenating oneself.
This is probably the tiniest Provincial Park in Nova Scotia, or close to it, if not. It is practically just a pull-off on the road, with a couple of picnic tables and an outhouse. However, we have found it to be one convenient park. It seems every time we are driving by this area, we are in need of a break right around this area. We have used it many times to stop for a bite and a recharge. It is in a beautiful area very close to the water.
