Staircase House is a historic gem in Stockport, dating back to the 15th century. It boasts a rare Jacobean staircase and offers audio tours that delve into its rich history, including tales from the Civil War. Despite its age, Staircase House provides a modern, interactive experience with multi-language audio guides. The nearby Stockport Museum and War Memorial Art Gallery complement the visit, offering further insights into the town's past and supporting emerging artists.
Well worth a visit. Restored/ preserved house over 3 floors with different rooms presented to reflect different eras. Free audioguide gave information and brought to life with stories to illustrate use of rooms. Accessible with lift/ items to touch/ some braille labels. Could have stayed longer.

Such an amazing historical gem! Was fascinating walking around a house that's stood since 1600s. Ideal for all the family, except really young children.

Lived here all my life and never visited before. Well worth a visit. Great history
Alison T — Google review
I enjoyed this activity. I found it interesting to see how our ancestors used to live. Lot's of information on the history of the house scattered around. Audio recording available for each room. Friendly and helpful staff. Lift access to all three floors. Lovely gift shop. At £5.50 per adult, great value for money. I would recommend.
Deborah S — Google review
I think we've been spoilt by all the other old houses we've visited, as we weren't overly enamoured with staircase house. It only took us 15 minutes to walk through the whole thing including writing with feather and ink. The furnishings are very basic. The best bit is probably the basement you do get more of a feel for the place downstairs, maybe its all the moderns bita that throw me off! What was interesting though is the floors and walls that are all wonky, I'm actually amazed its stood the test of time as it has. £5.50 for adults and under 16s are free

Absolutely loved it!! Such history and a self guided hands on tour. The staff were very informative and the depth of knowledge from one gentleman was amazing. Lots of rooms to explore and plenty of historical clothes and artifacts to investigate. Great value and an all round pleasant experience.
Spencer D — Google review
it was indeed a lovely place to learn about British history and even a very quaint little place to sit down and just rest. I listen to some music of the 18th century and then sat down and wrote a bit on quilts. It was a truly enlightening experience. The audio guide, however, does indeed need to be upgraded. My audio guide broke down halfway through the door and never worked properly again. Overall, it was a brilliant experience and I would like to come back again with friends.
D C — Google review
The place is really nice. Staff really friendly. It's really kid friendly, somthing to do for them in all of the 16 rooms. They give you a little pack for each kid to do on the way round. The audio guide was very informative and had some minor acting in it. If a little boring. 😂 I would recommend a visit if you are old or young or a family with lots of kids as it's quite fun to explore. You can easily kill a hour here. £5 per adult.

Nestled beneath the bustling streets of Stockport, the Stockport Air Raid Shelters offer a fascinating glimpse into life during World War II. This extensive network of underground tunnels, carved from natural sandstone cliffs, was originally designed to protect civilians from air raids. Opened in 1939 and capable of housing up to 6,500 people, these shelters are not your average museum; they provide an immersive experience with authentically recreated settings and informative panels that transport visitors back to wartime Britain.
I've been living in Stockport for nearly seven months and had no idea about this place! It’s such a wonderful spot to explore, showcasing old war artifacts and offering a glimpse into how challenging life was for families and soldiers during that time. I visited on Sunday, and the entry process was smooth and hassle-free. It was truly a great experience, and the staff were very friendly. I highly recommend everyone to visit and explore it! Note : Book the tickets in advance Price : £5.5 for adult Details information: The Stockport Air Raid Shelters, located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, are a network of underground tunnels that were built during World War II to protect civilians from air raids. Opened in 1939, they are carved into the sandstone cliffs under Stockport and were designed to provide safe refuge for up to 6,500 people during bombing raids. Key Features: 1. Extensive Tunnels: The shelters extend for nearly a mile and are the largest civilian air raid shelters in Britain. 2. Facilities: The tunnels were equipped with basic amenities, including bunk beds, toilets, a canteen, and a first aid station, making them relatively comfortable for those seeking refuge. 3. Historical Insight: Visitors can see exhibits of wartime memorabilia, including gas masks, uniforms, and household items from the era. Preservation: After the war, the shelters were sealed but later reopened as a museum in 1996, allowing visitors to experience a unique piece of history. 5. Guided Tours: The site offers guided tours that delve into the history of the shelters, how they were used, and the stories of those who relied on them. The Stockport Air Raid Shelters are a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts, providing a sobering yet inspiring look at the wartime experiences of ordinary people.

Great experience, hosts are very knowledgeable. If you visit when it is quiet the experience is something else as you have the tunnels to yourself
A B — Google review
I visited the shelters to capture content for work. Brian was an excellent host who made the experience both informative and engaging. The shelters are exceptionally well maintained and offer a meaningful way to reflect on our history.
Morgan — Google review
An enjoyable visit, it really gives a feel of what it was like to be down there during the war, with plenty of artefacts from that period still there. I wasn't given an audio guide, so maybe they don't exist now?
Michael C — Google review
It is absolutely worth a visit. We had a good time looking around. It is important to remember the past, and this is a chilling reminder.
Emily I — Google review
I had never heard of this place until recently. Very intuitive place to visit providing an insight and information about how lives would have been saved having access to these shelters. You can find out about sites the enemy had targeted. The shelters do give you a sense of what people had to go through. You can spend an hour here. Staff are very friendly, jovial and have a great sense of humour; especially Roger! Excellent place for a day out. As it is in the centre of town, you can park in any of the paid parking lots in and around the area. Great place for everyone to learn more about the price that has been paid in the past for today’s freedom!
Legends L — Google review
Loved going here and gained some knowledge into the atmosphere and cramped conditions people would have been in under very extreme circumstances in the war. Very handy using hand held electronic guides to give insight into how things were and the staff were lovely and friendly.

Hat Works is a unique museum located in Stockport, UK, housed in a recognizable Victorian mill that was once part of the country's thriving hatting industry. The museum features interactive exhibits that recreate a Victorian hat factory and showcases an impressive collection of over 400 hats from around the world. Visitors can explore the history of hat making through vintage millinery machinery and displays of various hat types. Expert guides offer tours that provide insight into the evolution of the hatter's profession over the centuries.
Stumbled upon this very interesting museum on the hat-making industry in UK by chance. Never thought it used to take so much machinery and effort to make hats. An enriching and educational visit. Highly recommended! Free entry, register online in advance.
Swee C — Google review
Great specialist museum showing the history of hat making from the Middle Ages onwards. The displays include an interesting mix of machinery used as hat- making became mechanised. Highly focused. Excellent displays. Lovely cafe and a museum shop with a good selection of merchandise. You can book onto a guided tour, which I recommend as the guides are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Thoroughly recommend this museum.
Vanessa P — Google review
I really like the hat exhibition in this museum. It shows me that hats can also be used to express individual personality. I also like the display boxes with various themes. However, I cannot accept the wrong map marking. In the map of picture1, Taiwan is marked separately instead of being part of China. This will send the wrong message and political stance to young people who come to visit. As a Chinese, I think this is really unacceptable.
Madao H — Google review
Never been before. It is well worth a visit. We went for the guided tour with the very informative Liza Ward. Thank you Liza we really enjoyed our visit.

We've always loved the Hat Works! We've taken our kids and now the grandkids to visit it! It's always interactive and interesting! Now that Arc is part of it it's even more fun! The cafe has some wonderful baked goods and super sweet staff!
Melissa W — Google review
Great experience at the museum, there are thousands of hats on display and we even got to try some on, which was really fun. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the pink shopping bag from the gift shop. Unfortunately, it wasn’t waterproof, and when it rained the colour ran and ruined my friend’s clothes. I think it would be worth considering different bags, especially since it rains so often here. Thanks again for a lovely visit!
Nicol L — Google review
Don't be fooled... It's free to visit!! (It's only £5 if you want a tour) Me & wife and 1 year old had a great time exploreing the place. It's got 3 floors, top floor is nothing. Middle floor is 100' of hats to see over the years, and a great area to try on funny hats! + Kids play area. Bottom floor is for the older generation with all the machines showing you how they made them. Very interesting.

Nestled in the heart of Stockport, Stockport Town Hall stands as a stunning example of Edwardian Baroque Revival architecture, completed in 1908. Its striking features include bold pediments and elegant Ionic columns that support an impressive clock tower. Visitors can explore its magnificent interior on guided tours available during weekdays—just remember to book ahead!
We have recently got married on the Marble Staircase in Stockport Town Hall and it was absolutely beautiful! Our guests were blown away with how beautiful the venue is, as were we. Carol was amazing to work with, on the run up to our wedding, as well as on the day. Nothing was ever too much trouble, she was always really responsive to our questions and everything ran so smoothly on the day - thank you so much Carol!

Bramall Hall is a stunning 14th-century manor house set in 70 acres of parkland in Stockport. This Tudor mansion has been meticulously restored, showcasing intricate studwork, enigmatic wall paintings from the 1500s, Elizabethan plasterwork, and Victorian kitchens and servants quarters. It offers a glimpse into over a thousand years of history and culture.
This is my new favourite place! This building and its grounds are absolutely stunning! We arrived around 12pm sunday and there was parking chaos as there isn't many spaces but we got parked in the end (prices in the photo) also note you can pay by phone but i had zero signal. Tickets can be bought at the visitors center to the house £6.50 adult and under 16s free. The staff were lovely. The ladies that greeted us on entry to the house were really welcoming and very lovely. The house is gorgeous, each room beautifully decorated and seeped in history, truly fantastic. The grounds has a playground, duck pond with lots of ducks, a cafe with an ice cream counter (single wafer cone £2.95 or in the visitors center £2 a tub). There are toilets that were very clean. Lots of picturesque places for a picnic
Victoria M — Google review
Absolutely amazing place to visit. So much history and things to see. I wouldn't go with kids under 11 as they'll get bored easily if they aren't interested in history.
Danielle B — Google review
A Visit to Bramall Hall After a long crawl on the motorway, delayed by an accident, we finally arrived at Bramall Hall, a magnificent black-and-white timber-framed Tudor manor set within 70 acres of sweeping parkland. Once we’d paid the small parking fee, we made our way to the lovely café for a restorative cup of tea and a snack before stepping back in time. Much of the building is covered in scaffolding due to building work, but this does not deter from the great experience once inside. Bramall has a long and fascinating history, first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 when the Saxon owners, Brin and Hacum, were displaced by Norman overlords. Over the centuries, it passed through the Bromale family and later into the hands of the Davenports around 1400, who left an indelible mark on the estate. Inside the house, every room whispered stories of the families who lived there. In the Solar, much of the original wall painting is currently protected during building work, but one tantalising section remains visible. A digital screen nearby allows visitors to imagine the room as it once was, with richly decorated walls and full of colour. The Neville Room offered another glimpse into the past, with a surviving section of wattle-and-daub wall, hundreds of years old. The real highlight here, though, is a breathtaking Gothic-style credenza, designed by A.W.N. Pugin and crafted by J.G. Crace; a masterpiece of craftsmanship that immediately draws the eye. Upstairs, the Paradise Bedroom revealed more secrets. This was the chamber of Dorothy Davenport, who lived here until her death in 1639 at the age of 77. Beside the fireplace, a hidden priest hole, a reminder of the dangerous religious tensions of the time. The Withdrawing Room was equally impressive, with a striking lime-plaster ceiling and a grand cabinet of unknown origins, but dating from the 17th or 18th century. A short film revealed the painstaking restoration of the ceiling, which is now the room’s crowning glory. Climbing further, we reached Mary Neville’s boudoir, a private retreat filled with quiet charm, the kind of room where one could easily imagine passing long afternoons with books or embroidery. The Davenport Bedroom followed, complete with its own dressing room and washroom, offering a glimpse into the private world of the family. The tour finished in the servants’ quarters, beautifully presented and full of period detail. The kitchen, with its heavy range, stirred particular memories for Tim, it was identical to the one in his childhood home in the old coal board workers’ houses of the northeast. Our Historic Houses membership gave us free entry, but we were struck by the affordability of Bramall Hall at just £6.50 (or £5 for over-60s). It’s the best value of any historic house we’ve visited, especially given the richness of the experience. Before leaving, we gladly added a donation to the collection box, a small token of thanks for such a memorable day.

Amazing place! So well preserved! Learning about the building, all the changes and renovations that were done there, the families who owned the place - felt really eye opening.

A place of great historical interest. There are unique parts of the Manor from the 1400's that are worth a visit on their own, especially if you're interested in historical buildings. There are lovely gardens as well, which I haven't seen due to bad weather. Coupled with the low price for visiting, nice staff, and everything being accessible, it's a great place to visit.
Athanaric — Google review
This property is looked after by Stockport County Council and is quite staggering . Its mainly tudor and is free entry if you are a Historic house member. Staff we met were all pleasant. There are info boards and touch screens in each room that shows interesting videos and pertinent info about the items in the room. There is a cafe on site and a large area of parkland . Car park is reasonably small and may get full at weekends. A property of the highest order
Kevin M — Google review
Lovely place to wonder around the house maybe under scaffolding but you still get to see how beautiful it is. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the cafe staff were super friendly as well and the price was well worth the visit, even just walking around the garden was worth the visit
Steph L — Google review
Beautiful place lovely house set within lovely grounds. Parking is very limited unfortunately The cafe serves lovely food with friendly staff but is on the small side. This is a very popular place for people to visit so parking is a major issue, an early start or midweek visit when not as busy probably better.

Merseyway Shopping Centre is a pedestrianized retail hub in Stockport town center, offering a wide range of high street fashion, homeware, and department stores. The center also features cafes and beauty salons for those seeking relaxation. As part of the Summer of Sport program, the Let's Enjoy Great Outdoors event will bring crafts, pop-up activities, and the popular Merseybay outdoor beach to the center.
Me and my wife had a weekend away in Stockport as we were going to the plaza for BBC Manchester extravaganza for children in need . So, we decided to spend a day shopping as well . We first noticed how very festive it looked, with the wonderful decorations hanging from the ceiling and the big festive teddy seat for families to sit and have photos on . It was nice to see some Christmas wooden huts doing sausages & Yorkshire pudding wraps . It was also nice to see them doing their bit for remembers . This shopping centre as some top name shops . the centre is kept clean . however, the same can not be said for the cubicles they were disgusting and a seat missing. outside had some great artwork done out of recycling bottle top & coffee lids and just across the road car hub covers. overall, it's easy to get to bus or Stockport train station

You can probably find anything you need, goods or services, within this gigantic, beautiful architectural masterpiece, with a bus station, the Stockport Interchange, just beside it. The premises are being cleaned up round the clock, with indoor and outdoor sitting for the eateries, great views from the top, and plenty of parling available. Bring your children along: the little ones will fall in love with stationary cute vehicles with real-life sounds. The kind of place to go when you have a lot of shopping to do and you want to eat out somewhere in-between.

Must say I found my latest visit to stockport surprising. A step away from the main city centre, with shops and everything, you have this relaxing, peaceful pocket of the town that stuck in time for its 19th century architecture and slow pace charm. On the sunny summer days, this is a welcome change from the busy city life

While visiting Merseyway today, my Husband twisted his knee and was unable to walk. And the car was on the upper floor carpark. After a moment of panic I remembered I'd seen a staff member. I quickly tracked him down and explained the situation. He contacted his manager who was able to provide a wheel chair. The first member of staff then accompanied me to my husband, helped to get him into the chair and the took him to our car. He waited to make sure my husband was able to get into the car before leaving. Brilliant service. Without their help I'm not sure how we'd have got away so quickly. Thank you.

The Plaza in Stockport is a historic cinema and theatre that has been a prominent entertainment venue since 1932. It was designed to exude the glamour of the era with its luxurious setting, exceptional customer service, and diverse range of performances. Today, it continues to host a variety of stage presentations including pantomimes, musicals, plays, comedies, concerts, and family shows. The venue also showcases classic films in their original format for an authentic cinematic experience.
Wonderful experience to see this classic cinema and theatre. The behind the scenes tour was very informative and excellently presented. Well worth the visit.

Visited on 27/12/24. Beautiful venue, the preserved art deco history is awesome. Loved the old traditional organ playing at the start and in the interval too! The Sleeping Beauty production was good. Actors were great, especially the star, Wendi. Sound was excellent. Audience participation was a bit lacklustre. Panto is supposed to be an interactive experience! The only feedback I want to pass on is that given the restriction on bringing sweets and drinks in, the refreshments provision could have been better. We managed to get a tea, a coffee and two fizzy drinks, but it was a real palaver - the staff in the cafe didn’t seem to know what was going on, didn’t know how to make drinks, there was no card machine, no price list. I would have spent more but it was total chaos so only ordered the minimum which cost £7. When we go to the Palace Theatre we’d typically spend £40 in the cafe, so you’re missing out on a load of additional revenue by a lack of preparation.
Dave S — Google review
Love the venue. So we'll restored and friendly staff too. Seen comedy twice there recently and its a very pleasant experience. (As well as great comedians) Just a slightly complicated seating numbering system we eventually worked out in the circle. Odd numbers to the left even numbers to the right.
Alastair J — Google review
Great venue for stand up comedy, not so big that you lose the feeling of being part of the show. Good slope on the seating so the view from further back is still ok. Comfy seats, easy to get in and out, lots of parking nearby.

My wife and i went to this grand old plaza / theatre recently for BBC Radio Manchester extravaganza for children in need. It was good to see bags being checked before you go in . Inside, they have a relatively small bar and seating area with not much room because of how old it is staff were friendly & welcoming and pointed you in the direction to where your seats are. there was plenty of room for your legs as this can be a problem for some of these old theatres .Bit of a queue for the toilets, ladies and gents are downstairs. It is a lovely place and well worth a visit

I love art deco architecture and styling and in every department, the Plaza delivers! I can't begin to say how impressed we were at the condition and beauty of the place. It is exquisite and is a credit to all of those who have had a hand in restoring this gem of a building to its former glory in such an incredibly authentic manner. It's obvious that everyone connected with the Plaza loves the place! Our guide was smart, funny and knowledgeable and really added to the experience. We will definitely be returning soon.

Stockport Viaduct, constructed in 1840, stands as the largest brick structure in the country and a remarkable feat of Victorian engineering. This impressive viaduct, towering at 34m high, was once the largest of its kind globally. It serves as a testament to Manchester's significant industrial history and provides passage for trains, showcasing an extraordinary example of architectural prowess from that era.

Restaurant
Where the Light Gets In is a warm and airy open-kitchen restaurant located in a former coffee warehouse in Stockport. The intimate dining room with an open-plan kitchen offers an elevated dining experience, serving small meat-focused plates and snacks paired with wines. Founded by Sam Buckley, this culinary gem has earned rave reviews and even a green Michelin star for its seasonally and locally-minded dishes.
A wonderful experience dining at Where the Light Gets In, we had the taster menu. The staff were great, service was prompt and they were very knowledgeable about the food which was all seasonal and presented in ways I hadn’t tried before which made for a great experience. It was really relaxed but professional, and you can tell how much thought went into each part of the experience. Would highly recommend a visit.

Terrible. After booking in November, we thought we were going for the tasting menu in Stockport. After arriving and realising they had relocated, and a £25 Uber later - we were bitterly disappointed. Apparently, between January and March, it’s a burger menu. Not only did we put down an £80 deposit we were then served the greasiest food I think I’ve ever had. My arteries are going to take a while to clear. The burger was swimming in oil along with translucent chips, flabby oysters, And onion rings, which would give the healthiest human a heart attack. The wine we wanted was no longer an option and we were served an olive-brine style wine. To be honest, I would have rathered a McDonald’s - it would have tasted nicer and been less greasy. Terrible, disappointing, overpriced, experience.

Excellent meal for my birthday. We were slightly late as we struggled to find the restaurant as it was quite tucked away. But glad we found it. An amazing venue. Loft style, wooden beams and exposed brickwork. Completely open plan kitchen so you can see everything being prepared. Staff were so knowledgeable about the food and wine. The wine list was the most extensive I’ve ever seen (orange wine!). Now the food. It’s a set tasting menu consisting of five courses. Sides are available as optional extras (we ordered mayo chicken, and cheese for afters). Every dish was tasty, fresh and amazing flavours. Portions are small but we expected that. Definitely recommend. However, food intolerances are not catered for but this was made clear during booking.

Was really looking forward to this as a 30th birthday treat. Unfortunately it was underwhelming and I feel a bit gutted to have spent so much money on it. I appreciate this style of food is never large potions and I've had other fine dining experiences which have met standards. I have to agree with other reviews regarding portions here with dishes being shared. For £75 I ate 3 tiny mussles, 2 spoons of soup, a few florets of green cauliflower, half a chicken breast and half a baked Alaska. It was all tasty but nothing stand out flavour wise. The desert was the highlight but again a shared dish of one tart between 2. Spent an extra £25 on the extra starters and would have definitely left hungry if we hadn't. The only meat was chicken on the night we went - even from the starters menu - so would have liked to see more variety. The wine pairing was good and can't fault the service and atmosphere but sad to say I left feeling disappointed.
Maddie H — Google review
We visited here for a birthday gift and had been looking forward to it for some time but was sadly left super underwhelmed. We’ve been to our fair share of fine dining restaurants so we’re aware of the portion sizes and structure of the meals. Sharing dishes that would just about cover one person is very disappointing. Personally for me it went far below expectation when our server presented some Romanesco Broccoli florets in baking paper, told us this dish ‘came with some theatre’ to which she then used scissors to cut open the paper and reveal a few florets Broccoli.. which again was shared. We was bewildered at the time and didn’t really process it all until friends asked how it was and we described one course “we shared a single chicken breast and 2 bitter leaves” that made us feel pretty silly. I will say though the baked Alaska for the final course was great. No complaints on this. The service was attentive and relaxed in the best kind of way, the restaurant itself has a great vibe too, but the food put me off rebooking anytime in the future sadly.
Lauren — Google review
A relaxed yet elevated dining experience, the team here are definitely focused on delivering not only a fine dining tasting platter but also engaging the customer in the journey of the food and wine. It was such a relaxed experience even though you are literally in the kitchen and watching how they prepare and deliver your food. The food may seem small but the flavour certainly packs a punch and if you really want yo elevate your experience then get the wine pairing and enjoy the delicate and robust flavours that it brings to the dining.
Phil F — Google review
The food was lovely but portions were really small and were mostly sharing. Eg 4 small mussels to share. Main course was 1 chicken breast and 4 lettuce leaves to share. It definitely needed some sides. Or another chicken breast. We ordered the bread when we realised we may still be hungry - which was lovely. At least the dessert was one each. Service was friendly but was disappointed by the whole experience sadly. Have had fine dining and tasting menus before so maybe was expecting too much. Anyhow, make sure you aren’t too hungry when you arrive!
Amanda S — Google review
We went to WTLGI for our anniversary and it was fantastic. The food was excellent. Good variety of flavours to try. The staff were delightful - they explained every dish to us and were friendly and welcoming throughout. They all felt relatively equal too, which improved the experience. For example, the chefs would occasionally bring meals to us and do exactly the same explainer as the waiting on staff. No one felt like they were “beneath” any particular task.

Stockport Museum, located in the Market Place complex alongside Staircase House, offers a diverse range of exhibits delving into various aspects of Stockport's history. Visitors can explore artifacts from the Iron Age settlement in Mellor and learn about life in Medieval Stockport. The museum also highlights the town's industrial expansion during the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as its historic rope-making trade.
Interesting and absorbing museum about the local area from prehistoric times to present, nicely presented and set in a fascinating building opposite the lovely Market Hall. I learned a lot! In addition to the journey through the ages, there were also nice galleries about Strawberry Studios (10cc) and street photography from 1970s Stockport. I visited solo but there was plenty for kids and school groups as well. Spread over 5 floors with some slopes due to the nature of the building, there are stairs and a lift for access, and toilets on 2 floors. Recommend a visit!

Wonderful and very helpful staff. They had everything to help our 3-year-old enjoy looking around. We paid for the stair house, but the museum was free, so we did both. You can eat inside the museum if you ask as there's a dedicated table, but just one. Collections inside are interesting and wide ranging. Lots of interactive tasks for you get children. Worth a visit.

Very surprised at this place. I had lived in Stockport for 4 years and had no idea this really well presented free museum was hiding in the Center of Stockport. Lots of toys and games for my 2 year old and lots of interesting artifices to learn about even things dating back thousands of years from the local area. Will definitely come back again and friendly staff.

Came here as a back up plan after an event in the town centre was cancelled. Honestly glad the event fell through. The staff were lovely and the kids had lots of fun learning, finding the character around the museum and playing on the top floor. Would definitely return.

Part museum, part old home. The home was originally built in the 15th century. It has 2 main floors, accessed by stairwell & lifts (lifts located near the main entrance). Each room is themed with items from the 1500's to 1940's (when the house was last lived in). You have can view the rooms in your own time or have a audio guide. The museum is connected to staircase house and delves into Stockports historic past & present. Staircase house is opposite the main market hall in the town. It has a cafe & gift shop. Staff are very friendly & helpful.

It was a great place for a family day out, my daughter had lots of fun, there are many activities and role play sections. It's not overwhelmingly big , so we spent two hours and a half approximately, there is a nice small gift shop. The ladies were so kind and friendly. Highly recommend.

It's free! And it's great for young kids. There are 4 floors, with each floor with its own exhibition. The bacemet changes every few months but at the moment it's a strawberry studios exhibit. (2017 Dec) The rest has lots of history about Stockport with lots activities for the kits to do in each room. It's actually quite interesting! Lots of photos of how Stockport looked back in the day. Even an 1950 kitchen! Even had a hot point in it. Lol

Chadkirk chapel is a historic former Chapel owned by Stockport Council. On the last Sunday afternoon of each month volunteers from The Friends of Chadkirk open it to the public, serving tea, coffee and a selection of cakes. There is often live music. There are special events, the busiest is the annual well dressing in July when St Chad's well is beautifully decorated. The dedication is accompanied by an old fashioned village fete. Information is available on the Friends of Chadkirk website.

With a rich history of showcasing works from some of the world's most renowned artists, this gallery continues to thrive by offering an extensive series of exhibitions that highlight both established and emerging talents.
A most impressive building and very moving to see all the fallen listed in the hall. Its also a vibrant art gallery with friendly and helpful staff. There's a lift to the first floor where the large art gallery is. Well worth a visit.

Staying in the town of Stockport for a couple of nights and exploring its fascinating history. I visited the art gallery which is unique in the UK as far as I know because it is also a war memorial. The latter is located within the neo classical building and is truly humbling and impressive. The art exhibited was largely of local scenes and included many works by local schoolchildren some of which was of high quality given the age of the artists. The staff were extremely friendly and informative (in fact the town generally is a friendly one). Recommended

Extremely attractive Greek style building, with a marble paved hallway leading to the memorial wall plaques. Inaugurated 100 years ago by Prince Henry (son of King George V) to honour the thousands of local men who perished in WWI. The names of those who died in WWII and other subsequent conflicts have since been added. The building also houses the towns art gallery with regular exhibitions. Currently there's one regarding the end of the war in Europe whilst the war with Japan is still raging. Well worth a visit but check the limited opening times.

A small gallery and the length of time you spend is dependent on the exhibitions. There are three exhibition rooms and one of them was in use by an art group so I didn't wish to intrude. The gallery staff are very friendly and the Gallery obviously takes pride in presenting very thought provoking exhibitions - the two I saw today focuses on displacement from home and ancestral lands.

Additionally, there is a small coffee shop that is very welcoming to both children and wheelchair users, with delectable cakes and snacks available. The establishment also boasts accessible toilets, including a ramp at the entrance for easy access.
Attended a book signing with Steph McGovern in an interview with M.W. Craven. A big, fine looking church to hold the event. My daughter and I enjoyed a great evening with a delightful Steph at the launch of her first book, which was purchased in advance. A lovely park with wonderful sights, the benches are very nice to sit in on a hot sunny day! The stairs are quite steep but that's okay, it's still a wonderful place. the fountain is nice to see but it's not got too much water in it, maybe that's the weather though

Lovely park, coffee shop and paths to walk on
Ian B — Google review
Lovely park, always plenty to do or see. However the car park is a right PITA and needs the bays remarking as the lines are hard to see and people hog two spots making it impossible for others to park. Also, as someone who uses a blue badge the disabled bays need remarking up and enforcing as there’s usually multiple people who park in the disabled bays without a valid badge. Also the coffee shop could do with accessible toilets on the ground level (not just in the basement) as when my pain is bad, those stairs are a killer! Speaking of which - there also needs to be more toilets available that aren’t located in the coffee shop as when I’ve attended after the coffee shop has shut, and needed to go - there is a lack of options available, unless the bowls people are playing and let me use their facilities.

Spent a nice sunny Sunday morning here and had a really good time. Our dog was absolutely enjoying the space! We unfortunately didn't find an accessible path down to the river so that was a disappointment, but I'm hoping to be able to go down to the river the next time around. Definitely recommend a visit to the park. It's very well kept and serene.
Nadia F — Google review
Nice park and quiet green space to take an enjoyable walk or sit. Plenty of paths to wander around and lots of benches to sit, the park has a set of steep steps but with a pathway around them. Mostly well maintained with some interesting features, although the fountain was empty and muddy, and the information signs were a bit worse for wear. The café is great and the park adjoins Woodbank park for an extended wander.
Martin R — Google review
A beautiful park to visit with family, pet or even if by oneself for a nice walk. The park is very tranquil and has a few steep inclines so could for jogging or walking for fitness. The pathway to river is blocked off for safety reasons and is a shame as this would be ideal to view. There is a museum and also a cafe within the park as well as a bowling green. All in all a great park to visit.

Had a nice little family stroll round here. It’s a shame the paths down to the river are blocked off but other than that it was a good walk. Nice water feature near the bottom and a maze that kids loved running around and burning off energy in. There is a bandstand which was great to see. Public toilets are downstairs in the museum at the top of the park where you will also find a little shop selling T-shirt’s, sweaters, bags, planters etc a lot of which is made on site.

My friend and I came for a quiet space to revise for our coming exams upstairs, and the staff made us feel really unwelcome and it felt like we were being watched, constantly with an eye on us. They were quite abrasive and rude when my friend asked to where the toilet is and quite abruptly told me to throw my drink in the bin outside. Outside?? I could have understood that I couldn’t bring a drink in, if it was a restaurant. Anyway, I’ll still be going as I much but it will be downstairs. Absolutely poor and unnecessary approach to people who just want to quietly revise.

The Lowry is a renowned quayside building that features two theaters and galleries showcasing the works of LS Lowry and modern artists. The gallery boasts an extensive collection of Lowry's famous "matchstick men" paintings, depicting industrial landscapes and everyday scenes from the North West. In addition to his paintings, the gallery also houses an archive of photographs, press cuttings, and exhibition catalogues associated with Lowry.
The Lowry in Manchester is a striking cultural venue combining modern architecture with a varied programme of exhibitions, theatre, and performance. The gallery space is well-curated, especially the permanent L.S. Lowry collection, which offers real insight into his work and life. The theatres host a mix of touring productions, comedy, and local performances, and the seating is generally comfortable with good sightlines. Staff are helpful and the space feels accessible and clean. The nearby quays provide a pleasant setting for a walk before or after a visit. It’s a worthwhile destination whether you’re after art, a show, or a quiet coffee with a view.

Staff were numerous and very helpful.

Very, very good venue. The quayside theatre is very small and intimate, but holds a good crowd. We were there to see the "Ideal" stage show (which was absolutely brilliant) and it was a great trip. Two minor issues were that it was unclear when the doors would open, leaving quite a few people like us standing outside in rain and wind, which was not Ideal (see what I did there) Also the toilet roll dispensers are utterly dreadful, where you have to try and pull it out of a very tight opening and it invariably tears close to the holder. You know the ones I'm talking about... The rosé wine is delightful...

We booked tickets to see the Quentin Blake exhibition. It’s free to enter though, possibly to control guest numbers. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly chap who said we will be seeing the Lowry 360. Wasn’t sure what it was, but we were led into a theatre and watched a 6 minute video of the famous Lowry painting of fans going to Bolton Wanderers football club! We highly recommend you do this as the video brought the painting to life! The video filled all the walls, ceiling and floor and you became mesmerised into the painting! It was brilliant!! We then saw the rest of the Lowry paintings and then saw the fabulous Quentin Blake illustrations! I’ve read many books as a child with his illustrations and it was fascinating to see them close up!

Visit to the Lowry today amazing experience we started at the 360 Lowry experience where they have brought one of LS Lowrys pictures alive, it was awesome for 6 minutes your transported amongst the picture with matchstick people and animals walking around you. Amazing I would highly recommend Lowry 360 after you can walk around the gallery and look at a huge collection of his works plus there's some of his personal items. All for zero cost so be generous and put a little coin into the collection boxes. There is a cafe, restraunt, bar and a well stocked gift shop plus toilets in the building. A big thankyou to Neil who we met as we entered extremely sociable and explained everything we felt so welcome what a credit to the Lowry. If in Manchester it's a must place to visit.

Went to see La Bohème here. An excellent venue for the opera. The seats were comfortable and there was plenty of leg room. The performance was very enjoyable. Highly recommended to pre order any interval drinks as there can be a long queue for the bar and the interval flys by. Parking is available for a reasonable price at the nearby multi story. Dinner is also recommended at the pier 8 restaurant which is within the same building as the theatre. We had a very enjoyable experience.

There are some really interesting pieces to enjoy, and it’s very family friendly overall. What stood out the most for me, however, was their multi-faith area. It was wonderfully clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. Honestly one of the best multi-faith spaces I’ve ever seen and used. Absolutely 10/10 for the effort the museum has put into providing such a welcoming and inclusive space for all visitors.

This is a great museum and can be done in about 2-3 hours and is good for all ages. It's free to get in but you can make a donation. The vivarium was very popular. The gift shop had some good and interesting items for souvenirs or gifts. There is an elevator for those with strollers or that can't do stairs. They're are several different sections to see. The Egyptian section has a real mummified person that you can view, along with their sarcophagus. There are taxidermy animals and the skeleton of a whale. Lots to see and definitely worth a visit. There is even a good cafe attached for a snack once you're done.

Great place to visit for a couple of hours. Went mainly to see the triceratops skull which is on display until February and it was well worth seeing! Plenty of things to see including other dinosaurs and fossils. Egyptian mummies and other artefacts too. Free to enter but need to book tickets for triceratops- still free though. Donations are of course welcome.

My son and I had a truly wonderful time visiting the Historical Art Exhibition in Manchester. We were both deeply impressed by the richness of the displays and the beauty of the precious artifacts. My 7-year-old son was especially delighted to see so many fascinating and valuable pieces from the past, which sparked his curiosity and excitement. It was such a joyful experience for him before starting his new school day, and for me it was a memorable moment to share with him, filled with learning and admiration.

So many fascinating things to see, from taxidermy to fossils to gems to live animals! I could've stayed the whole day. There is a big variety of things here, you'd never get bored! And it's free! I had such lovely time here.

We recently spent a truly spectacular day at the Manchester Museum. This isn't just a collection of old things; it's a vibrant journey through time, packed with amazing artifacts and compelling histories that capture the imagination of every visitor. The historical collections are beautifully curated, offering deep dives into everything from Ancient Egypt to natural sciences, presenting human history and the wonders of the natural world in an accessible and awe-inspiring way. The Star Attraction: Triceratops: Eat, Roam, Repeat. While the entire museum is brilliant, the main event for us was undoubtedly the special exhibition, Triceratops: Eat, Roam, Repeat. I can't recommend this highly enough, especially for families with young children. The exhibition is designed to be incredibly interactive, turning learning into a hands-on adventure. It perfectly balances fascinating historical facts about the iconic dinosaur with opportunities to explore, move, and play. Seeing the sheer scale of the Triceratops skull is breathtaking, but the clever, child-friendly displays bring its ancient life into sharp focus. Our four-year-old had the best time exploring every corner. The exhibit encourages curiosity and active participation, keeping little hands and minds busy. To top off the dino-mite experience, the fun Dino dig was the perfect finale. Watching our little one, brush in hand, enthusiastically unearth 'fossils' felt like a real-life archaeological discovery. It’s details like this—making history tangible and fun—that set the Manchester Museum apart.

Very nice museum. Free admission. Nice local history and natural history exhibits. Easy access by public transport. Cafe on the premises, plenty of seating. Also suitable for families with children

This was a cool museum. I brought my four year old and he had a really interesting time. There were some nice interactive bits alongside stuff to look at. It had plenty in it but we also happily left after about an hour and a half / two hours. Dinosaurs was a fave as was the frog farm (probs not the real name). Wasn’t so busy. Might have been harder with kids aged 2-3.

The Avro Heritage Museum, located just south of Stockport, is a captivating aviation museum situated on the former site of the Woodford Aerodrome. The museum showcases storied aircraft such as the Anson, Lancaster, Shackleton, and Vulcan that were built at this historic location. Established in 2015 with partial funding from BAE Systems, it evolved from a former Avro heritage center.
An amazing small museum filled with incredibly knowledgeable people. You need to pay extra for the cockpit tours but they are very worth it. Lots of interactive parts. Clean and well cared for facilities. Definitely want to come back.

Utterly amazing. A comprehensive history of aviation from its very beginnings right up to the Cold War. Cockpit tours, a Vulcan Bomber, outstanding. Great volunteers, full of knowledge and boundless enthusiasm.

Great afternoon spent exploring this fantastic facility. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It was wonderful to experience the inside of the cockpits. The items on display are well presented and there is plenty to look at. The cafe does a selection of drinks and sandwiches. Well worth a visit.

This is everything a museum should be. Run by volunteers who are all passionate about aviation. My two children 4 and 5 had an amazing time, sitting at the controls of a real passenger plane, pushing all the buttons and giggling like mad. My young son is Autistic and going anywhere is a real gamble. He was really at home looking at the amazing displays from models of the first wooden aircraft to flying an aircraft simulator. Great interactive displays really bring engineering to life and we're enlightening to see just how much amazing science and technology has been present in UK aviation. The cafe is very reasonably priced and extremely family friendly. The museum is also very accessible for people with mobility issues, although some cockpit tours may not be suitable for wheelchair users it was clear that they had been considered from the outset, with uncluttered floor space and interactive exhibits being step free. Fantastic place and we will definitely be back!

Anyone who is interested in the history of British aviation should visit this remarkable museum. Avro was one of the leading aircraft firms and an important part of the industry of North West England. I particularly recommend the tours of the Vulcan cockpit and Lancaster forward fuselage. The former is an overwhelming experience I found! Packed with artefacts and information and served by enthusiastic well informed and friendly volunteers the museum is a must see!

A great little museum, really well structured with a timeline of Avro aircraft. Friendly staff, café very reasonably priced. This is the closest I've been to a Vulcan since I stood alongside the end of the RAF Finningley runway with my father, circa 1967, watching the awesome beasts perform circuits and bumps.

Went for the Wings and Wheels event. Same entrance fee as any other day. The event included the Lancaster flyover. There were other stalls including food and drink. General public showing their personal classic cars. The staff in the Avto museum are all very friendly and highly knowledgeable.

What an amazing place. We booked a Lancaster tour, which was 2 hours after we arrived. We were wondering how we’d spend that time. Well how wrong were we? There is loads of detailed information, photographs, models, parts and recreations we ran out of time! The Lancaster tour was brilliant and we learned so much more than we believed we knew. Then we did the simulation from real audio footage, which was also fantastic. We had a quick lunch at the cafe and a quick look around the shop because we had so much to fit in. There is lots to see for young and old ! We will definitely go back to see the parts we couldn’t finish as it was near closing time. The volunteers are full of information and always on hand to help.

Victoria Baths is a well-loved Grade II listed Edwardian swimming and Turkish bath facility in Manchester. It opened in 1906 and was praised for its splendid Victorian architecture, featuring decorative tiles, stained glass, and mosaic floors. Although the baths have not been open for swimming since 1993, efforts are underway to fully restore them. In the meantime, the building is used for various events and occasional guided tours are available on Wednesdays from March to November.

Disappointing Visit – Won’t Be Returning Popped into Tiamos in Stockport on a wet, windy day with my 9-month-old daughter, mainly to escape the rain and grab some breakfast. Initially, things seemed okay – the girl serving us was friendly and polite, and the food was actually not bad at all. Good portions, cheap and cheerful – just what you'd expect for a casual breakfast. Unfortunately, everything else was a letdown. The atmosphere was flat and uninviting. The high chair they gave me for my daughter was filthy – even the server commented on how dirty it was, yet all she did was offer to remove the tray. No offer to clean it or replace it. Really disappointing considering how basic hygiene should be, especially for babies. They use a QR code menu, but you still have to order with the server and can’t pay through your phone – making the whole system feel a bit pointless. Worse still, just after we got our food, two elderly regulars came in. The server clearly knew them well – as she knew his regular order was a cappuccino before he even ordered. They sat outside right by the wide-open front windows, which are more like doors and lit up strong-smelling pipe tobacco. The smoke poured straight into the café, directly towards my daughter in her already grimy chair. I could see the smoke drifting in, and yet the staff said or did absolutely nothing. In 2025, with all the research around secondhand smoke, I found this completely unacceptable – especially in a place serving food and children. I lost my appetite and rushed to finish my daughter’s meal so we could leave as quickly as possible. The final insult? A £19 bill for the privilege. I remember when this café was lovely years ago. Sadly, it’s now somewhere I wouldn’t recommend to anyone – especially parents. A real shame.

National Trust - Castlefield Viaduct is a newly transformed linear urban park located in the heart of Manchester. Once an abandoned railway line, this Victorian viaduct has been revitalized into a lush oasis offering panoramic views of the city's iconic landmarks. Managed by the National Trust, visitors can pre-book tours or enjoy open access in the afternoons to explore this verdant sky park. The site features cultivated gardens with vibrant foliage and spaces available for showcasing art and horticultural displays.
What an amazing hidden gem such a brilliant idea to restore this former Victorian viaduct I can’t wait to see the phase 2 expansion when it’s completed. A tranquil green oasis hidden away in the centre of Manchester, we are National Trust members and wouldn’t have known about it if I hadn’t seen it on the app although it’s free for all to visit so please go it’s a lovely peaceful haven to escape from the hustle & bustle of city life (tip: it’s currently closed Mondays & Tuesdays)

Great idea that is only half completed awaiting further funding to finish the project off. Only puzzling thing is the viaduct was decommissioned in 1969 & it took them this long to decide to do something worthwhile with it! Lift was out of order when we visited so had to use the stairs. There are toilets available on the viaduct.

Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council is responsible for overseeing technical approval for construction projects in the area. Additionally, they must ensure that existing structures meet safety standards, such as the height and strength of parapet railings.

A bike lane that was 4ft was painted on afew years ago and a laughing stock - so someone isn't making sensible choices with the budget!

I've been attempting to help a vulnerable teenager get accommodation as he has been removed from his home. The council website lists a promise that vulnerable young people will be guaranteed a place to stay. It's a completely empty promise and should be removed immediately. The only help offered by SHG thus far has been for him to log on to spareroom.com. They have been of no use whatsoever. He has been homeless for about four months. It does rankle when you realise how much money has been spent to accommodate non-UK citizens over the last few years. I don't begrudge them a thing, but it does highlight that Stockport Council has very different priorities to those we thought we were paying for.

To Stockport Housing Office Why are u offering these families accommodation? I'm certain that British families would love somewhere to call HOME. I'm fairly sure that BRITISH FAMILIES have been on the housing list a lot longer than these families from Iraq. THEY SHOULD BE OFFERED NOTHING. If a Britush family starting camping to protest. You would remove them REMOVE THESE UNGRATEFUL PARASITES. HOUSE OUR FAMILIES/ EX VETERANS FIRST. A migrant family camping on the streets of Stockport town centre has turned down accommodation because it is in a different area. Mohammed, his wife, and their son arrived in the UK last year from Iraq but have spent the last 10 days sleeping rough. The family, alongside another, has set up two tents outside the offices of Stockport Homes, a social housing provider. Stockport Homes has said it offered the two groups accommodation and other support, yet Mohammed, 50, and his family have turned it down. Despite the offer, the migrant family say they are stuck on the streets. "We need help; it's not safe here. I've been here for ten days, my wife is sick, we can't stay like this." The family from Iraq turned down the offer of housing because it was outside the borough where they wished to stay and with a different housing provider, reports Manchester Evening News. Moving out of Stockport, a town in the Greater Manchester area, would mean the family would be staying in an area which is not familiar to them. However, there are major housing shortages in the region, with thousands of people on the streets battling for social housing. As a result, Mohammed, his wife, 48, and their son, 18, have no options for a home in Stockport — especially not at short notice, the housing provider says. According to MEN, various other options have been discussed with the two groups in the tents. These include house shares with other people, as well as numerous appointments to chat about the other options available. A Stockport Homes spokesperson said: “We know that seeing people sleeping in tents in the town centre is upsetting - and for those in that situation, it’s even more distressing. It’s something we take extremely seriously. “There are huge pressures on the housing system, but help is available - and we’re here to make sure it reaches those who need it most. “Our teams have already offered accommodation options to those on Edward Street, alongside personalised support, and advice. “One person has accepted, while two have chosen not to take up the options presented. We’ll continue working with them to find solutions that meet their needs.”

Came for the cafe as we were early for the Air Raid Shelter. Sorry to say that it was a stereotypical church cafe. There was a musty, dusty smell on entering. Of an order of 6 people, 3 food orders had to be changed as the mushrooms and ham weren't available. The cafetiere coffee had to be changed as there was no cafetiere! The tablecloth on our table was stained and dirty. As a minister of a church with a café myself, I know all these issues are easily avoided and would see repeat custom ...

The staff were all brilliant and couldn't do enough to help. The accessible toilets were large enought to get my scooter in and could manoeuvre easily enough. We were sat close to the stage and they took a seat out so I didn't have to swap seats which was a big help. Normally with accessible seating you're miles away and not always a good view. The staff are super friendly and nothing was to much trouble I was literally looked after the whole time and felt like a VIP I even got hugs off the two who looked after me at the end of the night. Highly, highly recommend this venue if there is an event on you wish to see. Absolutely 5*

What a cool place! Very cool lights and a great set up, £4.50 pint (of Amstel) is just unheard of at a gig! Erm so I saw mac demarco with my girlfriend and wow what an experience hes just the coolest and im grateful that aviva studios facilitated this experience

The show (The witcher concert) as good and the room sound is excelent. The air flow was quite bad on the day and it was very warm. Despite that a great place to go for a concert
Gonçalo G — Google review
Although we had to wait outside the venue in the rain for quite a while, the venue itself is great. We were in the warehouse. There was room to move despite the gig being sold out, it was not roasting or airless and the whole gig was really enjoyable because everyone was comfortable. The sound quality was really good, too. Makes you realise how dreadful places the Manchester Academy are where they pack way too many people in and you can't move or breathe.
Mo L — Google review
Very cozy venue, was our first time here for the Witcher concert and enjoyed it alot. Staff were helpful and had smiles. Layout is good to drip the crowds through the arena. Maybe could have improved by having more than 1 merch stand as the queues just got a bit out of hand. Like the fact that the staff come to you in the arena with snacks as often it can be a bit daunting disrupting people and getting out.

Market Halls has become a vibrant culinary destination, particularly with its Victoria site attracting nearly one million visitors since its inception in late 2018. This lively space embodies the essence of communal dining, featuring an array of kitchens that cater to diverse tastes. The atmosphere is reminiscent of traditional market halls, showcasing everything from fresh local produce to artisan baked goods within a stunning Victorian architectural setting.
Spent a few hours at the Market this morning and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I always like to buy from local people and the goods are always fresh and inviting. Finished my shopping after chatting to traders and went to cafe near church and had some lovely soup and bread which wasn't just very enjoyable and tasty but good value for money.

A historic Grade II listed building dating back to 1861, Stockport Market Hall offers a traditional shopping experience with a modern twist. The hall houses over 35 independent stalls, including fresh produce, baked goods, vintage items, and crafts. The atmosphere is lively, with friendly traders and a community feel. The building itself is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture, featuring large glass windows and ornate detailing. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 9am–4:30pm.

Great variety of unusual stalls. A good place for a coffee and snack. The best stall of all is the Candy Shack. The stallholder is great and couldn't be more helpful. Her wide range of sweets can suit any taste. If you've never visited your missing a life experience.

Great place. An upcoming area and clearly the council is promoting this area in Stockport. Definately completely different to the picture of Stockport we might create. It is truly wonderful here with tiny little cobbled lanes up and downhill. Fantastic area to explore, it doesn't get the 5 stars as it is a long way off from being completed. Some new cafes, restaurants and sandwich bars are appearing and of course the lovley food market offering several different cuisines. From Spanish tapas and tortillas, to fresh Thai cuisine I clouding beautiful Vegan options.

Cool quirky old Mancunian building. We looked into booking for a conference in the summer, but ended up choosing a different venue. I like that it's not for profit, so the prices were good. Doesn't have AC though, and the poster boards supplied have to lean against the walls.

Me and my mates were tenants over 3 different houses in 3 years with HOUSE. For the whole of the time we were looked after by Emma who was absolutely brilliant, she was incredibly friendly, she drove use to viewings and helped us out with the issues we had in the houses, which there were a lot of, but Emma’s great service made up for this.

Also had a month long wasp infestation they refused to sort out even tho i am severely allergic to them 🤪 took ages to sort out anything and the house was never properly cleaned by the cleaner when we moved in yet we got charged a cleaning fee #laughoutloud

I've been an RWIA tenant for the last 4 years and have to say that it has been one of the best renting experiences that I have had in Manchester. Amy and the team have always been super accommodating and quick to respond when there are issues or concerns. Although the house is a little older and has had a few issues, they've done their best to resolve it quickly. The maintenance team and repair men are very friendly and get things done quickly. I am particularly grateful for the flexibility I've been given over the years to adapt my tenancy agreement when needed. Would highly recommend.
Enyo A — Google review
My personal experience as a RWIA tenant was very good with House Manchester. They were very responsive when we had issues and generally had people out to help within a few days when there were any issues, as simple as a light bulb gone out. Communication was good, the house was lovely and a fair price. I have no issues with this place, they made great landlords for me and my housemates the past year. Would like to send a thanks out to Amy.

I was an RWIA tenant last year (my second year uni house) and couldn't fault House Manchester - especially Amy who looked after us and our house! The house was spotless when we moved in and I really appreciated that we all had matching furniture regardless of room size. Any time there were any maintenance issues someone would come that day to resolve them which was great and contact with House was direct and accessible throughout my entire tenancy. Overall I would highly recommend!
Tabitha B — Google review
I was a RWIA tenant last year and had a very positive experience with the company. The landlord was very responsive if we had any issues or problems, all of which were resolved very quickly. There was a great communication with tenants, informing us with plenty of time when visits/checks were being carried out (eg of alarms and show arounds). The house we stayed in was lovely (7 people) and we were given the majority of our deposits back with no issues and fairly. Would definitely recommend.
Maisie D — Google review
You hear many horror stories of lacklustre student letting agents in Manchester but this REALLY isn’t the case with House. I was an RWIA tenant last year (2021-2022) and honestly cannot fault it. Not only was our house in better condition and more stylish than my friends’ but the appliances were more up to date and efficient. Whenever we had a query or a problem our emails were diligently responded to and the problem was often fixed within 24 hours. The team is very friendly and approachable, we always felt help was never far away should need it. My only complaint is that they don’t let more properties!
