Roy Moore Lobster Company absolutely deserves the highest praise! Watching the fishermen bring in fresh lobster right from the ocean and then having it cooked on the spot was one of the coolest dining experiences we’ve ever had. Our 3-pound lobster was perfection—sweet, tender, and bursting with flavor. The shrimp and baked clams were just as incredible, cooked simply and beautifully to let the freshness shine. The staff made the whole experience even better—they were extremely friendly, welcoming, and entertaining, adding so much personality and fun to the meal. From start to finish, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere unforgettable. If you’re in Rockport, this is a must-visit spot for seafood lovers. You won’t find an experience—or lobster—like this anywhere else!

The entire reason we stayed in Rockport was so I could try the world famous "Roy Moore Lobster Company" and it di not disappoint!!! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Ross and he made our decision quite easy. I ordered a the Lobster roll, a half dozen oysters and one of everything else on the board. EVERYTHING was phenomenal!!! You can't get better seafood than this!!! Everything you heard about this place is an understatement. We were staying in Rockport, but no matter where you are staying, I highly recommend you take the drive to this awesome seafood Mecca!!! Thanks for everything Ross!!!

Maybe we just had bad luck today — we came with high hopes but left a bit disappointed. The dozen oysters were definitely fresh and sweet, top quality for sure. But the three lobsters, while they looked great on the outside, were super watery inside. It was kind of shocking how much liquid had pooled at the bottom of the box — all from inside the shells. Overall, the lobsters felt pretty hollow, with barely any meat, and what was there was super salty. Compared to places we’ve been to recently in Boston and Newport, this was honestly underwhelming. Maybe we should’ve gone for the lobster rolls instead? Maybe they were slammed earlier and quality slipped, or maybe it was just our unlucky timing. Hopefully others have a better experience than we did.

One of the best lobster spots in Massachusetts! The outdoor seating includes seven picnic-style tables and a small standing area. The only downside is the very narrow walkway to the seating. The food is excellent!! Clam chowder is thick and creamy with plenty of potatoes and not that many clams. The lobster is fresh, slightly sweet, and pre-cracked for easy eating. The lobster roll is served on buttery bread with a flavorful mix of lobster and light mayo, accompanied by coleslaw and potato chips.

I so wanted to gatekeep this place… but they absolutely deserve the love. The price is unbeatable, the seafood is fresh and delicious, and they keep it simple—minimal cooking, maximum flavor. Everything just tastes like the ocean in the best way. Pair it with a cold beer and you’re in heaven. The patio seating has a chill, coastal vibe, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Nothing fancy, just perfection in the purest New England seafood shack form.

Can beat the prices for some excellent Lobster without all the extras. Loved the atmosphere. Could use more seating but a table does open up fast. Definitely a place to eat!

To top off our vacation experience. Best value in New England. Bayside seating harken back to a time long ago. The lobster was pre-cracked and steaming. Lobster rolls were the best I've had. Fresh and buttery in a toasted roll.

A beautifully curated store with local organic produce, baked goods and coffee, prepared foods, interesting wine and beer selection, body care and extensive vitamin department, clothing, candles. I find my favorite smoked shoyu here. People who work here are friendly and go to extra lengths to help. Combined with a walk on the beach and sifting through the thrift shops across the street, the Common Crow Market makes for a great day trip from Boston.

A treasure!! Clean, organic, and all the food stuff our bodies need. Frozen fish so local the fisherman's name, vessel, and port are on the label. Also, a great deli for quick meals. Variety of fresh produce, meats, and just the right combo of packaged oils, meats, canned veggies, etc.

Stopped by on a weekend trip to Rockport. Lunch soups and sandwiches were delicious. I wish I could have tried more of the prepared options. Also offered a nice variety of unique produce and cheeses. Maybe offerings were locally sourced which was nice to see.

Great store, but sadly we purchased a rather pricey water bottle that leaks like nothing you would believe. Lol, I know that it sounds like hyperbole, but this thing has a built-in straw that will hose you down, and it is literally unavoidable, so the vessel is useless, and caused quite a mess on its first use. We live in Maine so we probably won't be back that way anytime soon, so ...oh well, but I still highly recommend the store. It is amazing with a vast selection of hard to find foodie items, and friendly, helpful staff. Lol, just don't buy the insulated water bottle with a built in straw 😁

Love this store! Whole spices & seasonings, teas, amazing cheese selection, gift items. Can be pricey, but worth knowing you can find things bot carried in chain grocery stores.

So much fun! You can customize your scent to whatever you’d like and they’ll help you find the perfect balance if you’re not sure. Our “instructor” Rachel was amazing! She was so sweet and helpful. Would definitely recommend this experience and will be back!

The woman who worked at Rockport Candle on Mothers Day May 12 2024 was outstanding!!! She made perfect recommendations, chatted about the specific types of candles, the candle making and her pride with the Comlany! We only buy Rockport candles based on their quality and unique aromas- plus they outlast any other candles we’ve ever used. The knowledge and world class service we receive in person keeps us coming back in person!!! We traveled over an hour just to buy the candles! It was the perfect Mothers Day/Birthday gift combo!!!

I have been buying candles and soaps from Rockport Candle Co for years! Most recently my father has discovered the magic ability of your soaps and orders them online....he loves getting his handwritten note in each package! I always find something here! Clothes, linens, kitchen ware, anything and everything! Everyone that works here is friendly and helpful! I donate and I buy there. I feel good that the $$ that it makes goes to the Open Door Food Pantry.

I have been coming here since I was a little kid and used to love it, staff used to be friendly and helpful. But now they almost feel hostile. I'm not a reseller or anything but with the way they act sometimes you would think I just kicked their dog or something. The prices have also been going up, I'm ok with this because it is going to a good cause and would love to keep supporting them but it is just not worth it for me to go anymore because I don't want to be in a space where I do not feel welcome.

This thrift is a treasure for the community. Not only do they do amazing work providing food and nutritious meals to the community they also have a program where people in need can access the thrift for essentials. This store never disappoints and has weekly themes that are seasonal and thrift style oriented. The staff are amazing, some volunteers and some paid, all are lovely. Well worth the trip. Prices are good on everyday items such as clothes and housewares.

Stopped in yesterday, was our second time there. Each time there is a decent selection of stuff, and the person at the register was really nice and helpful. I found two vessels that from what little google searching I did, may or may not be vintage planters? To be determined lol either way they’re cool and the prices here are very reasonable. Also it’s for charity? Even better!

Great stuff! Hit or miss, randomness treasure shop. Tiny mantown section, decent kids, and of course a robust women's which I thought had a lot of interesting and fun things. I keep finding the most random stuff in the kitchen and furniture areas that are awesome

I love Second Glance . They’re always changing the store a bit to keep it as accessible and appealing to the eye as possible . Not your typical thrift store . I can tell they put a lot of effort to “decorate” with their items rather than just throwing price tags on things on a fold out table or in boxes . The staff is always kind and prices are mostly reasonable. I noticed that they price “necessity” items extremely fairly ! Decorations and conversation piece furniture you can expect to pay a little more. It’s for a good cause . Beware it’s always pretty busy but it’s very spacious . I’ve never not gotten parking yet !!

The prices are good, and the inventory eclectic. Picked up an annotated copy of King Lear, Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar, Jean Genet's Querelle, and a new mug/bowl set for under $20. Fantastic little place

This was truly a very treasured shop. The lady behind the counter was very informative and was extremely helpful. The shop had a huge variety of items to choose from. The shop was also very easy to get to in an authentic part of town. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the prices were very high. But they did have a few things in a decent price range to choose from. Happy Shopping.

I've regularly visited the Rockport store and enjoy it, but the Gloucester store is even more special. The staff is incredible. My husband and I talked a bit with a store employee on Sunday who encouraged us to bang a gong or 2 (when do you ever get that chance?!), look around, and enjoy our time there. He was in his early 20s and extremely pleasant, knowledgable, and upbeat. I love this store and am excited to return.

However, I found the prices to be quite high for what was offered. While there’s potential, the combination of the lackluster service and high prices left me underwhelmed.”

This has been the most creative, beautiful and unusual merchandise I have ever had the experience of viewing. I have never seen their items in any catalog or in any other store It was a true pleasure shopping there and I will definitely look them up when back in Gloucester.

Awful place…Came to visit this place with my kids. Way overpriced! Immediately came to tell us to be watchful of our kids for no reason. Id suggest training your employees up on customer service. Never walking into this place again.

Bought a beautiful nightlight with a stained glass panel there 10 days ago. When I showed the woman at the store which one I wanted, she checked and stated they only had the display left. I asked about the light bulb in it and she dismissively told me that it should last "forever." My husband and I then got to listen to 10 minutes of light bulb information. The bulb stopped working today. We really like to support local, and small shops. Typically it means better service and quality. Unfortunately this was not the case here.

Lots of nice vintage options and unique stuff you wouldn't find anywhere else. Great for costume planning! Also love the window display, always so fun.

This place is awesome! The selection is pretty incredible and the prices are definitely reasonable. Also everything is nicely organized by size! I came in with my husband just to look around because I love vintage clothes. My short and strikingly handsome husband found one impeccably tailored Jil Sander jacket. Cheryl mentioned that there were more of those blazers which was super super helpful. We walked out with two suits and a blazer in my husbands size without having to tailor anything. This never happens so we were thrilled!If she had not helped us we would never have found those amazing pieces. Thank you Cheryl and Bananas!

I had an incredibly embarrassing and unprofessional experience. The older man that works at the store would not allow me to try on the USED dresses that were listed at a cost of $30. He told me I was too LARGE/BIG for the dresses hanging on the wall. I explained the ones hanging were in my size and he repeated in front of all of the customers loudly that I was at least 1 to 2 sizes larger and would not allow me to try them on. These dresses were COSTUME dresses I intended to use for a HALLOWEEN costume. It was a terrible experience, and harmful.

The worker working didn’t wear a mask and was following my family and I around the store and acted as if we were about to steal. She gave us dirty looks the whole time and acted like we were going to ruin anything we touched. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. The store is very pretty with great prices, but the employee made us feel very unwanted there and she did not need to follow us.

Super cool store, and I usually love it, but the lady wasn’t wearing a mask. This made me especially uncomfortable, as there is a sign saying masks are required for customers. If customers are required to wear masks(as they should be), then the person working there should 100% be wearing one as well.

Bananas is an awesome store. I bought two prom dresses from Richard and my wedding dress.I love that Richard knows the provenance of most items in the store. The prices are reasonable, in fact, I am surprised he doesn't charge more. Bananas is a gem, that all should see and explore.

Great place. Excellent selection and the best part is all the clothes are washed, sorted by size and even tagged! You never see that at a secondhand shop. Worth the trip!

Called to ask if they were open on a holiday and the woman responded “I answered the phone didn’t I”? Was planning to drive 30 minutes each way to purchase something for my parents. Not anymore. Great customer service.

Possibly the cutest bookstore I've ever come across. It's tiny but with a finely curated selection of new books, all organized by category. You can absolutely find something excellent and engaging to read. The owner is friendly and knowledgable.

I was surprised at the amount of books in this store! Though it’s small, they have a great selection! They’re well curated and diverse. I’d highly recommend stopping in and seeing what you will find.

We have visited this shop several times since they opened. I have also corresponded with the owner via email. Susie was welcoming to my family and has a wide selection of books my children enjoy. I am an educational mentor and found many titles that I recommend to elementary school teachers around the world in this small shop. Bearskin Neck sees so many changes each year. This has been one of the newer highlights since we started vacationing here over a decade ago.

Visited with my friend! We were on vacation from PA & decided to check Rockport out. We stumbled upon this little shop and loved all the beautiful jewelry pieces. I bought a sun necklace & paperclip chain. The lady was very kind! And my jewelry is still tarnish-free! It’s a Cute little spot!

Extremely offended by an employee (possibly owner - a brunette) who passive aggressively and later full on aggressively accused my 2 sisters and I (in our late 20s and early 30s) of stealing, telling my sister her “pockets were full”, demanding if she was planning on buying items she was looking at, and informing us that the other stores had given them “all the red flags”, presumably of our stealing??? I looked at her confused and realizing that she was accusing us of stealing and not just extremely overbearing, I gave her a confused look and she doubled down on her accusation, all as my sisters were trying on jewelry they liked in plain sight in front of the mirrors. We decided to leave because of this extremely hostile behavior and she followed us out yelling that it’s time to go and that there are cameras. Never in my life have I been so deeply offended. I invite this woman to review any footage she has and consult with her “red flag” sources to hopefully realize her mistake and not do this to other people as it was wildly inappropriate and shocking. We’ve been coming to rockport for 25+ years and never had anything resembling this kind of experience from an otherwise welcoming and vibrant street filled with lovely boutiques, stores, and shop owners. Avoid this store at all costs if you don’t want to be harassed, pursued, and accused of stealing by an extremely rude, hostile, and angry woman.

I always love shopping when I travel. Buying one piece of clothing that I can't find at home. I bought a beautiful linen blouse that I can't wait to wear this Summer. The staff was friendly.

I had a very disappointing experience at this store. I was trying to decide on a necklace to purchase, but the salesperson rudely rushed me, saying they wanted to close. I completely understand closing time, but there was no reason to speak to me in such a disrespectful manner. It left me feeling very upset, especially since this was near the end of my trip. The customer service was absolutely lacking, and it ruined what should have been a pleasant shopping moment. Definitely not the way to treat customers.

My family and I were accosted and harassed by the employee and will never be back. Do not recommend at all. Extremely offensive staff. We were accused of stealing, while we were browsing and looking to buy/trying things on...with intent to buy. Extremely offended by the atrocious behavior from the employee working. We have absolutely no idea where this came from, and it has severely soured our taste for the establishment. Truly disappointing and, frankly, disgusting. This woman has no place in customer relations, let alone basic human interaction.

I was profiled for stealing and they made me leave my stuff at the counter and ask to touch it. I was the only person in the store that they did this to. I had not done anything to look like I wasq stealing at all. Horrible service. I should be able to look at jewelry without being targeted. I paid for my stuff and left. This was ridiculous. I work in customer service at a retail store and this is not how you handle things.

There are so few openly queer or POC people in the area and we have experienced discrimination in other establishments on Bearskin Neck. There is something special about the sky in Rockport year round and there is even a book created by the owner of Carol Lee's Cottage called Rockport Skies that captures the ever changing beauty. She has so many unique items to choose from from the most comfy socks to original art from local artists, some with a great story to go along with it. The Paper Mermaid is one of the special reasons I go to Rockport! The store is amazing!! There is always something new, magical and wonderful to explore! I have found the staff to be very respectful and kind during all my visits especially when I take up room calling & video chatting with my grandchildren so they can tell me what special surprise they want Grandma to bring back. I have to admit I can be quite loud!!! Now for the inventory at the Paper Mermaid. It is amazing- artistic, magical, mystical, heartwarming and I really want to buy it all! This store is more than a store: it is an artistic experience, an oasis of warmth even on the coldest New England day. I have been going there on every visit to the Boston area since it opened, and invariably have found not just stunning and unique gifts, but a warm vibe. Most recently, the artist-owner has added a line of her own artwork—in cards, prints, and books. A wonderful shop-art gallery.

My family has been visiting the town of Rockport for over twenty years. In the past five years one of our daughters and her young family has been enjoying Rockport with us. Unfortunately, this past trip, we had a traumatizing experience in The Paper Mermaid. The old woman who sometimes runs the shop verbally abused my five year old granddaughter, my daughter and myself and in front of many other costumers. Emie was gently playing with several of the mermaid dolls. This woman stomped up to us and SCREAMED, "Is this your CHILD?" "She can't touch those dolls!" "They will get dirty!" And on and on... until we left the store, dumbfounded by the hatred this old woman was spewing. I will agree that the store is set up in a lovely and inviting fashion. Perhaps there should be a sign on the door- No children allowed. I have loved this store throughout our visits and spent thousands of dollars there. But NO More. Sand Castles in the historic district of Rockport offers nice quality apparel and gift selections in a colorful and fun display. They have been in operation some 35 years, an amazing success story for any business and are ably managed by ‘Traci’, very upbeat and pleasant to talk to. A loyal employee there for 31 years. Neat small town store, with the charm of the ocean. A lot of fun t-shirts representing the town and beaches. With some cool handmade accessories and pillows. Worth checking out, especially the back porch, it has a nice view over the harbor!

I have been a frequent out of state Rockport visitor for over 56 years and my entire family has spent alot of money at Sand Castles over the years This weekend I tried to exchange two shirts from Medium to Large - we purchased this gift in February --- they were never worn and in the original shopping bag ---- only to be told ABSOLUTELY NOT. Exchanges are only acceptable after 10 (ten) days. I was asking only to evenly exchange off the shelf, the same shirts for Large, not Medium. We will never shop there again. Nor will any of my friends or family.

Such a fun store right in the heart of Rockport. Great gift ideas, friendly staff and fair prices.

Phenomenal shop. Walked right into the past and walked out with very cool Budweiser merchandise and an old map of the metro Boston area. Anne was super polite, patient and helpful. Will 100% be back again. Just made my Sunday.

One of the better antique stores I've ever been too. The woman running it is very knowledgeable and helpful. I would come back to Massachusetts again if only for this store!

Be prepared to spend some quality time perusing these rooms of rooms chockerblock full of – you guessed it – Arts + Antiques. Some of it seems a stretch-but, most are the real deal. David Cox - Owner (One of 7) very knowledgeable. If you have a specific piece – ASK. it could save you hours of wandering the creeky floorboards sifting through old post cards, maps, jewelry and wide variety of furniture from a variety of eras. But hey...if it's raining this is the perfect place to explore for a few hours.

The older woman working with red hair and glasses is so beyond rude. She huffs and puffs when I brought my clothes in for consignment and rolls her eyes at me. she makes me feel less than her. I put on a smile and I was a bigger person, and I told her to have a good day after she took my items and she didn’t even say anything back. my baby even said have a good day and again she rolled her eyes at me. I started Selling my clothes on Poshmark just to avoid this woman. Fireflies, If you want peoples business, you have to either get rid of this lady or tell her to do better. I spoke to many people and they said the same thing , that they refuse to step foot in the establishment because of this woman. it’s a shame because it’s a cute little store.

If you have a kid (especially a toddler) and you live near Gloucester, you MUST go to this store. They have an amazing amount of clothing items at very reasonable prices (way cheaper than retail). Also some fun toys, products from local artisans, and other kid gear! We go there every time our daughter needs bigger clothes.

I have visited this store three times and have never left empty handed. Great for my rapidly growing baby (14 months), as well as my older two (7 and 9). I have found toys, books, costumes and of course, clothes!

My wife and I stopped in to your shop several years ago, and while there, we purchased a colorful acrylic coated round table cloth. We use it quite often because it really brightens up the room. It's proven to be very durable and looks as good as the day we bought it. We're glad to see you are still in business and have many more items to choose from.

We really like their screen prints - and ended up buying a framed “camping” print. But there were several others we liked, so it was a hard decision!

Denim Blanket company has beautiful blankets. They are made in the USA and the quality is superb. I’ve given several as gifts and everyone loves them. They have come out with children size blankets which are great for the grandkids. I highly recommend this product.

Found this bookstore after visiting one of my favorite seafood restaurants in Gloucester. Great bookstore with extensive amounts of older hardcover books at great prices. Lots of inventory so you’ll need time to properly sort through. The shelves and sections are well marked by categories. I found a wonderful book on Massachusetts golf history. My wife got a book on Jackson Pollock. I’m going to make this place a must stop when I’m in town!

The owner is very helpful and super kind. If you are exploring for old nonfiction books their supply is extensive. If you want to feel as if you are in a fiction story you have read and want to feel like the main character. This is the place to go. It felt like a romance story waiting to happen or as if some creepy creature could crawl off of any shelf. This is my favorite used book store I have ever been to.

Dogtown Book Shop is quite a find of you are looking for used books. Many are rare and hard to find, collectable books. One of the features I liked is that they were pretty well organized with labeled shelves and and knowledgeable and friendly staff.

I’ve ordered many times both online and in person. I have purchased haddock, scallops, shrimp, and lobster. I order the haddock and scallops most often. All has been incredibly fresh. The best quality seafood I’ve been able to find. Prices are good and service has been excellent. You really cannot beat the drive up truck. With two young kids it makes my life easy to pull up, pickup my order, and head right home to cook.

Best haddock you can get! Their fish is so fresh, right of the boat. They even have s loyalty card, after 5 punches on the card, you get 10% off the 5th order! Super fast and friendly service.

Frozen shrimp from mexico and packed a year an a half ago!! our mistake was not checking the package they gave us, huge disappointment when hoping to grill some fresh local shrimp we found frozen ones from Mexico!!

Drove to the truck for fresh fish. Since the scallops were $27 per pound (one pound minimum purchase) I bought the “wild caught shrimp”. When I got them home I was surprised to see the shrimp were frozen, caught in Mexico ONE YEAR AGO!!

Every time I visit Gloucester, we hit the fish truck basically every night for scallops, swordfish, the salmon, all incredibly fresh delicious highly recommend!!!!!

The food is fresh (except for a few items they freeze right away) and the prices are okay. The Haddock is excellent (and fresh) and one of their best deals.

Very well curated unusual collection of kitchenware and linens. Could spend half a day browsing through their excellent and odd assortment of brushes of all manner and sizes. Be careful–this array of kitchen wares and gift items is mesmerizing. Then-pooof...you walk out of the shop with an arm load of must have kitchen tools you didn't know you had to have!

Literally the cutest home goods store I’ve ever seen

I visited 3 years ago and bought the linen bath towels to try on our boat because I was told they would dry quickly. Three years later we journeyed through Gloucester again and I couldn’t wait to buy more bath and kitchen towels. The high quality linen is perfect for boating because they are very durable and do dry so much faster than traditional towels. I highly recommend them. Plus, I have purchased many more items at this unique store that have proven high quality. Also the staff are extra helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this store!

A fascinating store to look around in; with a great selection of obscure and useful objects. Fantastic soap, great kitchen knives, wonderful linen towels (of course). It's a must-visit whenever I get to Gloucester. They also have some cool, cute, and beautiful art on the walls, and sundry knickknacks throughout.

Excellent eclectic assortment of neat home goods. The kitchen broom I bought there is remarkably better than any other broom I've used. A great spot to find unique presents.

I like this store very much as it injects modernism into an area that needs it. Very good selection though a bit small for the square footage this shop has. Staff there is wonderful, helpful and informative. Items are priced very fair. This is a great store but I wish there was a bit more product variety and a little bit of audio to relax that “new shop” feeling. Small improvements for an otherwise great store!

It's okay. The racks are too close together and the discount prices are unpredictable. There are a wide variety of items, mostly discontinued. You never know what you might find. The bathrooms were decent but not perfectly clean... likely due to customers. The changing rooms offer a few larger family spaces but were otherwise small.

Never have anything in my style or size but they are a great place for household items and gifts.

I feel so blessed to be able to live on paradise island, aka Gloucester and still have such a WONDERFUL Marshalls in town, with the right products, great pricing and excellently managed store. Now that they got rid of some less than friendly managers in the past, the current staff is top notch. Today I had another case of needing to return some items, and get help for gifts to friends in from Japan. Tara, still relatively new, was so patient, kind and efficient, that she had me taken care of and happy within 15 minutes. Karen is an amazing manager & Natalie dresses me!

Got there about s half hour after opening. The store was well stocked, well lit, clean. There was sufficient staffing on the floor and at the registers. Items were clearly priced. Check out went smoothly and quickly. Cashier was pleasant and helpful, all in all a pleasurable shopping experience

As always... But since Covid-19 I don't see any great choices. Just your standard brands... Nothing special.

My favorite treasure hunt.

I went there to buy jeans for my vacation. As usual, the clothes were discount priced. The store was clean and well maintained with nothing off rack on the floor. Dressing rooms nice with pleasant assistant. Cashiers were friendly. Easy in and out.
