Kennywood is a historic amusement park located just a short drive from downtown Pittsburgh. It offers a mix of classic and modern rides, including famous wooden roller coasters and attractions for visitors of all ages. The park spans 150 acres along the Monongahela River and features over 45 rides, such as the thrilling Sky Rocket coaster and water rides like Pittsburg Plunge.
Old time charm sprinkled with some modern flair! There’s nothing like the feel of Kennywood. A park that’s been evolving since 1898 and counting. There’s truly something for any age or enthusiast. You have seemingly rides from today and every decade since, still in operation. There’s so many musts from the rides to the eats. My family has been going for generations!

Obviously a Pittsburgh classic, gotta visit at least once a year. The whole aesthetic of the park is excitement, and the potted flowers everywhere are beautiful. Always gotta stop to look at the gorgeous fountains. Everything seemed pretty good this year, safety wise. Saw security and medical quickly come for somebody who was overheated, while the ride operators let them sit and drink water. Very efficient and under control. My only complaints are 1) that souvenir cups are not sold at every restaurant in the park, and if you buy a soda in a regular cup, it does not come with a lid. That makes me pretty nervous in a large crowd of strangers. 2) The bathrooms are not as clean as they used to be. Had to pass up 3-4 stalks every time I went to pee because of mess, clogs, and stall doors that had no locks. Minor complaints, but worth noting with how the ticket price has raised lol. Please give us clean bathrooms.

I live about 2 and 1/2 hours away and I love going to Kennywood because there's a great sense of nostalgia even your first time going. I love the classic rides and the preservation that they have taken to keep these rides alive. Compared to other theme parks Kennywood seems very reasonably priced. The wait times are lower than some of the other ones and overall just a fun day. We'll definitely be going back.
A.J. W — Google review
Kennywood offers a really cool experience going through the park and seeing all of the different rides and vendors that they have. The rollercoasters are fun and we rode almost all of them when we went. The food at the cafe we went to was pretty good too. It is a great addition to Pittsburgh

Kennywood in Pittsburgh is a classic amusement park with a great mix of thrilling rides and nostalgic charm. It’s perfect for families, with exciting roller coasters like Phantom’s Revenge and fun attractions for kids too. The park is clean, and the food—especially the Potato Patch fries—is a must-try. Overall, a great place to spend the day full of fun and memories!
Gokarna D — Google review
Park is well kept and most staff are friendly. Clearly over worked though. My main complaint is the ridiculous wait time for rides. Ended up having to purchased their speedy pass just to be able to get onto rides. Without it you’re not getting on rides because they're clearly prioritizing people who buy the passes. Which will be the down fall of the park no doubt.
Heather H — Google review
An absolutely iconic theme park. Rich, rich history all around. From the three 1920s wooden coasters to the modern steel coasters- there’s something for everyone here to have fun. Don’t miss the Exterminator indoor coaster, the racer, the kangaroo ride, the whip, and the potato patch!!

On August 9th 2025 our Youth Ministry, Kingdom Kidz spent the day at Kennywood to end the summer. It was definitely a great time had by all ages young and old. Our 3 year old grandson was super excited to ride all the rides in kiddie land because last year he didn't to well. I was so proud of him for brave and facing his fears. Our son didn't like that there was no relation on how many people with fast passes were allowed to skip lunes on rides to make fair for those without one who are waiting in long lines.

Jefferson Hospital has received mixed reviews, but my personal experience was positive. The staff showed utmost respect and professionalism, promptly addressing any concerns and providing thorough explanations. Despite some wait times, I understand the current staffing challenges and appreciate the care received in the ER and OB unit. Others have also had good experiences at this hospital's ER, emphasizing the importance of patience during critical situations.
Special thanks to Nurse Teresa at the labor and delivery ward. Had my baby girl on Sunday and she made everything go so smooth she is very compassionate and really made my stay with them comfortable as possible. I cannot say enough good things about her. We were so grateful to have had her.
Sunishka P — Google review
I had both of my children at Jefferson Hospital, and I truly can’t say enough about how wonderful both experiences were. Nearly every nurse who cared for me, my newborn, and my husband was incredible—compassionate, attentive, and professional. I was fortunate to have the same nurse for both deliveries, which made the experience even more special. From the food to the overall hospitality, everything exceeded my expectations. I felt safe and well cared for the entire time. The team consistently explained every step, asked for permission before any procedure, and made sure I felt comfortable and informed throughout. It was truly an amazing experience from start to finish—no complaints at all.
Helen W — Google review
Most of the staff are wonderful. I have an issue with maintenance. One of the elevators in the medical building has been out of service for over a month which causes additional delay to get anywhere. People and walkers and wheelchairs are stacked waiting- I use a walker and I am shaky and CANNOT stand for long periods and there is NO where to sit. The situation has been reported and still it's taking over a month. If I fall there will be repercussions because I already was in the hospital this year for months and do not want to repeat that experience. Please fix the elevator!
Bev G — Google review
I have come here many times for panic attacks as I have severe panic disorder and major depressive disorder. This week I came to the ER because I felt like I was dying (this had been a constant for 2 weeks) and I got treated in the ER. In my experiences it’s a hit or miss with the nurses. Some are very mean and don’t tolerate mental illness very well. All of the doctors I’ve seen have been very nice and helpful. What I really want to talk about is the nurse that I met when I asked to speak to psych. She was the rudest human I’ve ever met. She told me I basically wasn’t sick enough to be admitted and that “they don’t treat a little anxiety” while I couldn’t eat, leave my house, or shower. That’s not just a little anxiety. She then told me I was lying about my prescriptions and that I was essentially med seeking. Mind you she said all of this while I was actively balling my eyes out, shaking, and vomiting. I wish I remembered this woman’s name so I could report her but I don’t. All I’m saying is that if you are having a medical emergency you can absolutely count on Jefferson to take good care of you but if you’re in psychiatric crisis just completely skip them. I wouldn’t trust them with my psychiatric needs a day in my life after that. I work at western psychiatric hospital and I can guarantee you will get much better treatment and empathy there.

My daughter was at work at Jefferson hospital and passed out and staff was very caring understanding . Then I took her to the ER where she was taking care of by Dr Khan and his nurse and staff on 7/9/25. They took really good care of my daughter and helped her get home as quickly as possible I want to say thank you for all the Care and the support that you have showed my family great job guys. From a mom with loving concern thank you.
Belinda N — Google review
A few people I dealt with here were so genuinely fantastic. When I was well enough (granted it took several months), I called to try to get a message to their supervisor about how wonderful they were. The hospital operator laughed at me and the person they transferred me to in the ED (one of the commendable staff worked there) told me they would have no idea about staff and hung up on me mid-sentence. As someone who has worked in multiple aspects of healthcare, I find that behavior unacceptable (I know the ED can get quite busy but I was not rambling and had just asked a question - the whole interaction was less than 20 seconds). But to the women who took care of me - they were absolutely fantastic and clearly cared deeply about the wellbeing of their patients.

Just would like to tell you that Bob and Toni in the surgical dept are amazing!! They listen, very polite and explained every detail Including what happens after my daughter surgery. I am very thankful to them. Keep up the good work!!!

It's a shame that hospitals are self serve on the weekends now. It was bring your own bandaid day yesterday. People that don't want to work weekends need to get into a different line of work. I feel bad for the few that are committed to their professions and show up to do their job properly.

Burgwin Park is a great place to take your kids, offering a clean and modern environment that's usually not too crowded. The park features a playground and spray park on the same grounds, making it an ideal spot for families. Additionally, there is a small pool with attentive staff and police presence for added safety. Visitors can also enjoy the wonderful splash park with various water spraying fixtures, as well as the adjacent playground. The friendly and helpful staff make it a welcoming destination for all.
Great park to bring your children! Very clean, modern and usually not too crowded. Playground and spray park on the same grounds.

Burgwin Park is located in the neighborhood of Hazlewood in the city of Pittsburgh. This park takes me down memory lane when my children attended the former Burgwin Elementary school; just across the road from the park. Back in 2001-2009, My whole family participated in the Hazlewood Cobras Youth Football league. I worked the gate and the concessions, my daughter was a cheerleader, my son Patrick was a star football player and their dad was a top notch football coach and mentor to the kids. Fast forward to 2021, now my son Patrick is head coach of the (12 to 14 year old) Cobra Midgets ! His dad and I popped in for a visit to watch the chip off the old block practice with the kids, it was great to see my son and assistant coaches teaching the players the fundamentals of the game!

At one time the Burgwin Playground was accompanied by a pool. However, the City of Pittsburgh no longer maintains the pool. It sits empty adjacent to the playground. The playground is in good shape, but the tennis courts do not have nets and are just slabs of asphalt.

Theme park
Thomas Town at Kennywood Park is a delightful little corner dedicated to the beloved character Thomas the Tank Engine. While it’s not an entire theme park focused solely on Thomas, this charming area features five rides designed for young children and their families. Visitors can enjoy a whimsical atmosphere that captures the essence of Thomas, making it a special treat for fans. Although some may find it limited compared to larger attractions like Universal Studios, it's still a joyful experience worth exploring.
It is now Kennywood Junction.

The I don’t think I have a good enough relationship with the kennywood
Anthony V — Google review
While I didn't ride the Thomas rides I did check them all out and got a photo and saw the gift shop as well. Not this isn't a Thomas Theme park. Its Kennywood. Like universal studios that has small parts of an area for a certain movie or ride. Kennywood has a small part for Thomas. You are not getting a whole experience since this is a small part of a bigger part. You show know this before and can even tell if anyone would look online on their website. Its 5 rides for kids and their adults. I was almost tempted to go on one of the rides myself. Its a nice small part of the park for him and the friends.
MMH P — Google review
Worst experience ever to begin it rained and all the rides had to shut down which we understand it's no fault of the park. But the one thing I was mostly disappointed with is I thought the whole park was about Thomas the Train when we got there it was only a small section and which which was truly Thomas friends. The best part was the thomas train ride on my grandson really loved it. It was maybe five rides in total that were thomas and friends three of them did not work. The gift shop was very expensive which is to be expected because we're at amusement park. We really was disappointed with not enough Thomas attractions for the little ones.
Constance S — Google review
i felt personally attackked by the rides and how they were working. first off, i tried to go on a thomas town ride but they said i was too old. Mind you I am only 35 and i am 4 foot 3 300 lbs which my mom says is perfectly healthy. back to the story though, I am still living with my parents and we chose to go to the park and we were excited. The ride operator for the drop towwer at tomas town told me i was too fat to get on the ride and i smelled very bad. I showered last week so i think im fine. My mom went and told them how mean that was to say and to get me on the ride. I threw a fit and cried but my mom said she would take away my xbox if i kept crying. So i stopped crying and we left. i am happy to go back to being a discord admin though.
Fgd D — Google review
This is by far the worst amusement park I have ever been to in my life. The rides were extremely boring and the biggest one the phantom was not even that great. I waited in line for 2 hours for the rocket and when I got to the end I found out why. They had me as the only one on the ride. Their were 12 other seats but they sent me by myself. On the old mill they were sanitizing the boats and sending them empty after each person making the line take twice as long as it should have. This was pointless as all the people in line were touching and leaning against the same isle bars and fences which were not being cleaned, and they never did this with the other rides, plus the ride was so boring that even a child would be bored yet it was the newest one.The staff was very rude as one of them told me to put a mask on, as soon as I stepped off the ride. I tried to explain to her that it fell off on the roller coaster her response, "I don't care, buy one at the gift shop". There is no way I was going to buy another mask after every ride, plus my wife was getting dizzy and faint wearing a mask on all the rides. It is dangerous to enforce something like that and if they really cared about people's wellbeing in regards to COVID they wouldn't be open. All they care about is making a buck not the welfare of their guests, every so called safety measure was for show and did next to nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Waste of 50 bucks and am never going back.

This park is perfectly landscaped with PA State and Federal department of the Interior grants for accessibility. It gets 4 of of 5 stars because there is no sign from the road that this park is here as a Whitehall Borough Park. I would like it to be called either Highlander Park or Highland Park of Whitehall to avoid confusion with the park of the city of Pittsburgh.

11West Mifflin Dog Park

4.2
(68)
Dog park
A great place to take my dogs when the weather is hot and humid. The grass is better than hot pavement and I don't worry that they'll get their pads burnt. I've been there at all different times and we mostly meet up with wonderful, playful pups!
Lynn S — Google review
Nice dog park, however, several community members are not following the rules. There is a Large dog side and a Small dog side. Lately, people are bringing their large dogs over to the small dog section claiming that the small dog section provides more shade. I had to leave several times because these community members refuse to leave the small dog section. It's unfair to the members of the community who pay taxes and want their small dogs to also enjoy the park. It's unfair and disrespectful. We are all adults who are capable of reading signs and following rules. Just ridiculous!
Precious J — Google review
the grass needs cut more than once a month. it's around 6 inches right now, which is terrible for the small dog side. overall, this is a staple of the community , great people, dogs are mostly well behaved, nice setup. but the maintenance is flat out terrible.
Jaykomas — Google review
This is a very nice dog park. It has well behaved pups and community visitors regularly. During nice weather days, There can be up to 15 dogs on the large dog side. Things they need to help improve is lighting for fall days when it gets dark early and a good solution for muddy days and more parking.
Curt K — Google review
The park itself is good enough, but no access to water and no obstacles for the dogs. Some of the patrons bring multiple dogs and put them all in the same pen -- meaning that small dogs end up in the large dog area. This happened more than a few times. But, it's a free park, you'll get your money's worth.
Robert K — Google review
In my opinion, the three most important elements of a dog park are (1) a secure fence surrounding (2) a decent sized plot of land for dogs to fun on, and (3) other dogs to play with my dog. This park has all three. However, there is no access to water on site, the poop bag dispenser was empty, there was very little shade, and the grass needed mowed. Overall maybe a 6.5 or 7 out of ten. We will go again, but I've been to better dog parks (actually just one so far).
Chris S — Google review
People were not very friendly. Seems people don't clean up after their dogs there, nor do they pick up after themselves. Not a lot of parking and doesn't seem too accessible. However there is a book box, which is nice.
Stakie — Google review
Our first time visiting. A wide fenced area for large dogs and an adjacent play area for smaller dogs. The only downfall you need to bring water 💧& toys for your furry friend. Which I did. We will go back
