The Hôtel-Dieu Museum, also known as the Hospices de Beaune, is a remarkable medieval hospice turned museum that showcases local art and furnishings from the Middle Ages. Built in the 15th century to aid the poor and sick, this historic monument features stunning varnished tile roofs and serves as a museum of medical history.
The free audio guide really brought all of the amazing history of the Hotel - Dieu to life. Architecturally stunning and historically impressive. We loved every minute of our visit. (The audio guide also has a children's option so don't hesitate to ask!) We reserved our spot easily online and walked right in.
Elizabeth G — Google review
Really loved the audio guide that gave great information but was entertaining the way it is done. Took us about an hour and a half to go through and a great picture of the non wine history in Beaune. Especially liked the pharmacie room and the presentation of every day life in those times.
Rosalie B — Google review
This was definitely the highlight of our visit in Beaune. The building used to be a hospital for poor people and is now very well restored. Entrance fee is Euro 12 - you can book online or pay at the spot. The roof and the building itself are very beautiful but they cannot be seen from outside. You need to purchase a ticket. I am glad we did.
Яна Т — Google review
Truly beautiful: the roof, courtyard, musuem displays, the numerous works of art. Very well curated, easy to understand the history and acts of charity carried out here. The Last Judgement altarpiece is a true masterpiece and is not to be missed, very powerful Practically had the place to ourselves after 6
Andrew D — Google review
Step back in time of old style hospital. Magnificent building with a tiled roof you can see best from inside the large courtyard. Well worth the entry fee. Booklet or headphones self audio tour are included with ticket price.
Andrew H — Google review
Working for a Hospice charity, I enjoyed seeing the granddad of Hospices in Beaune. This town was caring for the vulnerable from before my country was even discovered. Amazing tour and worth the ticket price to enter.
James J — Google review
A must have seen in Beaune. Yes the roof is great. But for me the history of the very old hospital and its foundation fascinates me more. You get an audioguide, which I highly recommand. The tour is about 1 to 1,5 hours. A lot old hospital furnitures and equipment. Entrance was 12€, which is ok for such an historic place!
R. A — Google review
A Must-See, one of the most stunning places in Europe, don't overlook the amazing 15th c. tapistries and treasure boxes. The audioguide is excellent, the town of Beaune likewise very beautiful.

(Translated by Google) Professional but watch out for the prices! Very welcoming saleswoman and not stingy with advice (somewhat compensating for the lack of possible tasting). On the other hand, we very little appreciated the inflated prices compared to the estates located 50 m further (bottle of Cyrot-Buthiau purchased for €35 in store compared to €22 at the estate), where the Michelin guide and the saleswoman told us prices identical to those of the producers...

La Dilettante is a laid-back wine bar located just outside the ring of Beaune, offering an excellent selection of traditional and natural wines. The food menu includes croque monsieurs, local cheese plates, and salads, but the real star here is the wine. You might even find yourself rubbing shoulders with local young winemakers late into the evening.
A cozy tapas wine bar with fresh produce locally grown, knowledgeable staff and fast, friendly service. Be sure to order the fresh salad if it’s on the menu (we caught the end of tomato season) and stick around for a bottle of wine, which you can browse like books on the wall opposite the bar. Prices are hand written on each bottle. Accessible, wonderful food and wine.
Liz M — Google review
Fab little wine and tapas bar with excellent food (best panisse ever) and great wine by the glass. Booking advised. We were unluckily seated next to some very loud people from across the pond but the staff were swift to move us and we had a great evening.
Gail P — Google review
Excellent food, great hospitality and a warm atmosphere. And of course an exceptional wine list (including lots of rotating by the glass options) leaning heavily toward organic and biodynamic producers. We loved it so much we came back for a second evening.
Patrick C — Google review
We popped in here for lunch, and yet again just superb food and wine to be had! We were very lucky to eat terrine, charcuterie and the sublime Haricots Vert in garlic oil - the best green beans we have ever had! All the reviews are spot-on with the recognition of the friendly staff and vibe!
Jonathan W — Google review
When a pick from Google Maps turns out good you feel pleased. This is exactly what happened. One of the most sublime dinners. Each dish was great. The standout was the pork and the salad- especially the salad. Had some excellent wine by the glass. An Aligoté in white and a natural one in red. The biggest standout was the service from Yuka- thank you. July 2024
Manu K — Google review
Probably the best place in the whole Beaune. Incredible wine choice, so big that you pick your bottle with the host, having a chat to assess your favorite choices. Service is straightforward, that shows confidence on how tasty everything is, you just want to discover more. Only good and down-to-earth people are coming here, we shared a bottle with a random couple next to us ❤️ can’t wait to come back!
Ilboscodellevolpi — Google review
Really good small plates perfect for sharing. It’s simple food but well made with fresh ingredients. Fantastic list of natural wines.

Mega good time! Fantastic dinner, super kitchen with local ingredients and very crafty chef. Goes without saying — the wine list is very impressive and a perfect match to the food. Very casual vibes inside, pleasant contrast to often stuffy Burgundy restaurants. Make sure to reserve a table in advance, it’s sold out every night.

Le Comptoir des Tontons is a charming local spot in Beaune, known for its laid-back atmosphere and delicious, locally-sourced organic food. The chef takes pride in refusing to be guided by accolades like the Michelin star, focusing instead on creating a welcoming environment for diners. The menu features easy-to-share tapas and larger plates made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, complemented by a wide selection of Burgundy wines.
Lovely atmosphere and generous hospitality from Richard and his team. Several hundred references and shelves heaving with curated goodies to share with a glass, bottle or more! Add to your must visit list in Beaune.
Tkssusa — Google review
Terrible service - don't waste your time here with so many better choices nearby! The owner clearly doesn't care about customers or being nice ("eat, now pay & get out!"). Place was almost empty and he was "very busy" sharing a bottle with his friends at another table... We asked for suggestions on the wine list and he literally replied "Pick whatever, I don't have 1 hour to waste...". In a wine bar!!! So we just ordered a salad and a glass of wine and felt so unwelcome that we left to have dinner somewhere else ("Caves de la Madeleine", next door), where we had a super nice evening! tl;dr: salad was ok and the wine selection is great, too bad the owner has zero interest in his non-local customers.
Food C — Google review
Excellent French food. And a wine lise that you can get lost in.
Rono S — Google review
While the wine shop part might deserve 4 or even 5 stars, the restaurant certainly does not. The food is good, but quite overpriced for what you get. Especially today's meal of the day was an example for this: Porc meat of a quality that is definitely not keeping up with what I am used from restaurants in France for a solid 28€. The charcuterie was surely good but also nothing that we found for a considerably lower price elsewhere. The wine selection was excellent. Service friendly and welcoming.
Gregor J — Google review
Really have no idea how this restaurant has positive reviews. We should have taken notice of several warning signs and left before having a terrible, overpriced meal. 1. Out of perhaps 20 people in the restaurant, very few were French 2. I ordered a 2015 (good vintage) wine only to have the proprietor, after going to his cave, bringing a 2016 vintage and telling me that it was comparable 3. The menu had only one choice for a plat 4. One of the two page menu was devoted to advertising canned goods that they had for sale The restaurant advertises itself as being farm to table. The haricot salad appeared to contain canned beans that were for sale in the restaurant - in addition to 1/2 of the menu being devoted to advertising canned goods for sale, one wall of the restaurant had the goods on display. Further, most of these products were canned sardines, etc from Portugal and Spain The one main dish on the menu, confit canard, was too salty to eat and we left about half. Our experience in eating in small restaurants in France is that the proprietors will ask you if everything is good. In this case, even though we left a large amount of food on the plate, the owner never asked whether we liked the food. After paying, I told him that I was going to write a negative review and he did not seem to care. There are many excellent restaurants in Bourgogne, do not waste your money on this place
Harry W — Google review
Went there after dinner for their wines and was tempted to a pork dish which was really delicious
Ron — Google review
We had 5 wines by the glass, didn't like any of them (unlike the four other wine bars). Food is mostly canned products from the shop. Doesn't seem like a good option in Beaune.

Bouchard Ainé Et Fils is a renowned winery located in the historic city of Beaune, in the wine capital of Burgundy, France. Established in 1750, it offers an intriguing tour of its cellars where visitors can explore the ancient Roman-era walls and moats that once protected the city. The winery provides a unique 5 senses tour, allowing guests to experience the aromas associated with wine in a special smelling room.
My husband and I had a fantastic time here. We did the guided 5 senses tour. I must say indeed you use all senses when doing this tour, however I suggest a bit more of an “introduction” to explain what shall you expect or do in such tour. The wine selection was impressive, amazing, complex reds and delicious, crispy whites. The setting is quite a showstopper: in their cellar with thousands of old fashioned bottles around you. The smell of moist / cold stone while sensing the aroma of your wine is priceless! Our guide was very knowledgeable but I felt we had to really dig deep for the questions instead of him teaching us naturally. We did some nice wine shopping in the end, took the glasses as a souvenir and a beautiful poster. The story of this place was unbelievable.. I would definitely come back.
Ingrid O — Google review
We had a great visit today. We did the five senses tour and learnt a lot. We are wine enthusiasts and found it fun and educational. Our guide was brilliant, friendly, good English and clearly lives and loves wine. I'm sorry I can't remember his name but he was young and has only been working there 2 weeks. A massive thanks to him. Well worth the money and very good wines. We bought a red which despite being above our usual budget for a bottle was too good to miss.
Karen B — Google review
We learned more about using our senses to taste wine than I have ever experienced. Well structured and the staff are first rate at imparting knowledge. Wines are extremely high quality as well. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Carrie T — Google review
A lovely tasting experience, really enjoyed the 5 senses approach. Was apprehensive at first but it was a very impressive and informative tour!! Recommend. Note we had to book through the tourism office in town
Angela W — Google review
We had an exceptional tour and tasting experience at Bouchard Aîné et Fils in Beaune this weekend! Our tour guide is called Marie Mathilde and her English is excellent. Her passion for wine and the domaine is obvious and she made the tour very interactive. There was just one other couple signed up with us so it was an intimate setting where we were able to ask as many questions as we wanted. The domaine is beautiful and the tour takes you throughout their caves and various gorgeously-appointed tasting rooms. 100% recommend!
Jessica P — Google review
Well worth the money as you get samples of very good and expensive wines as well as a custom glass of the site. However, our guide was not that enthousiast which was a bit sad. It was clear that he had a bad day and just wanted to get over with the tour.
Gilles D — Google review
The House of Bouchard Aîné & Fils selects and purchases grapes and wines directly from producers whose vineyards and estates are located in Burgundy and the Beaujolais and with whom the House has developed close partnerships over the years. These partnerships allow them to guarantee the quality of their grape supplies. They work with approximately thirty partners and since the end of the 19th century, their wines have been widely enjoyed by consumers outside of France.
Pedro U — Google review
We had a nice guided tour (two couples) with a nice winetasting! It is nicely made with the different senses and great to learn something about the wines. You can also ask Quatsch and they explain the different wines. I can recommend it and would come again!

We visited in August and the staff were incredibly warm, kind and welcoming. While their wine tasting wasn’t available, they kindly offered to give us a free wine tasting if we just bought a bottle of wine. The wine tasting ended up being of almost 12 different wines (both red and white) from across the entire region and Marco kindly and patiently explained how the different terroirs affected the flavour and aromas of each wine. Overall their service was far above what we expected, and we ended buying a lovely Saint Aubin white wine that we never would have gotten to taste anywhere else. Lovely experience overall - we couldn’t have been happier. Highly recommended!

Great wine tasting. We initially agreed on the 3-wine tasting, but ended up tasting almost 10 I think. They helped us to choose most of them from their selection, and they were amazing. We didn't have to pay for the tasting because we bought some bottles afterwards. I highly recommend, friendly service and a great selection of wines.

Amazing cheese shop in Beaune, France, the middle of the Burgundy wine region. Burgundy pairs so well with all sorts of cheese, especially Époisses, a local favorite. The knowledgeable staff is eager to guide customers through the cellar and provide recommendations based on individual preferences and budgets. Visitors praise the reasonable prices and exceptional service, making it a must-visit destination in Beaune for wine enthusiasts.
We popped in here to buy a bottle of wine that we’d enjoyed a taste of with our lunch at a local restaurant. The staff immediately knew which local wine we very poorly described and was also able to offer advice on other products. The prices were very good, much cheaper than other local shops for the same products. Highly recommended.
HO2 — Google review
La Vinothèque is truly a gem for wine enthusiasts! What sets this place apart is the exceptional level of personalized service - the staff doesn’t just sell wine, they create an experience. From the moment I walked in, they took genuine time to understand my palate and preferences. Rather than rushing through a transaction, they engaged in thoughtful conversation about what I enjoy, my budget, and what occasions I was shopping for. Their recommendations were spot-on and introduced me to some incredible bottles I never would have discovered on my own. The selection is impressive, ranging from accessible everyday wines to rare finds that serious collectors dream about. What I appreciate most is how they explain their recommendations - sharing the stories behind the producers, tasting notes, and perfect pairing suggestions. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do and genuinely want to help you find wines you’ll love. I left with several fantastic additions to my home cellar, including a beautiful Puligny-Montrachet that was exactly what I was looking for. The prices are fair for the quality, and the expertise you receive is invaluable. This is more than just a wine shop - it’s a place where you’ll expand your wine knowledge and discover new favorites. Can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone serious about wine or just looking to learn more. I’ll definitely be back!

it's been 2 months I payed my order. They then told me they were going to cancel it due to an error on their stock... no problem, it can happen. BUT: I HAVE TO STILL RECEIVE MY MONEY BACK AND THEY DONT WANT TO ANSWER. 2 months have passed. Terrible service and dirty behavior. Avoid.

I walked in and the owner was very busy. I picked two wines to buy and waited until he was finished with the customers before me. My French is very poor so when he was finished I greeted him and asked if he spoke English. He responded "For you, no" and turned away. My interactions with most French people have been very positive, but people like this are why the French are stereotyped as being rude and inhospitable.

Great place super friendly amazing selection of wines with an exceptional explanation. Very good English spoken! We wanted a selection of local wines, chatted casually about our taste preferences and budget. We ended up with a diverse box of bottles that were reasonably priced, some drink nows and some cellar keepers for an amazing price/quality balance! If your in Beaune and you like wine go here! Not snobby not overpriced, what more could you want?

Mon Millésime is a charming wine shop located on Place Madeleine, founded by Philippe Renaud in 2004. Inspired by his passion for Burgundy wines and the difficulty of finding back-vintage wines, Renaud created the solution with Mon Millésime. The shop offers a wide selection of old wines with reasonable prices and provides excellent customer service, fast shipping, and careful packaging. Visitors can expect a delightful experience at this store in the heart of the city center.
We were greeted by a young guy who was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. We spoke mostly about beaujoulais and we talked about different vintages, growers and their mentors. More generally, the shop is well stocked and easy to navigate.

(Translated by Google) Likewise, I am very disappointed. I made contact (finally, attempted!) already 20 days ago, so I have plenty of time for a response. You have bottles to sell, exceptional vintage of 1953, you use their services to find out how much they cost. Apparently they couldn't bring them enough because they didn't even have the courtesy to respond to my email and also to my request for expertise via their form. This demonstrates a lot of things, including this: If you can make them money, they will kowtow, otherwise you won't exist! Very professional attitude, it doesn't give confidence. Thank you Google for allowing us to give our opinion! The hosts were amazing and super insightful with near perfect English. Cannot recommend this tasting experience enough and look forward to buying more delicious wines in the future!

Unfortunately, the visit was very short and the tasting started immediately. The space available for the tasting was very limited (there were nine of us), and once the time allotted for the visit ended, there was no opportunity to try additional bottles. We were kindly invited to leave. That said, the staff member conducting the tasting was extremely kind, and I don’t believe the space and timing issues were his responsibility. I should mention that due to a problem with our GPS, we arrived 15 minutes late.

Had a wine tasting there the other day and we chose this domain mainly because of the cute little room you see in the photos with the wooden table.. However when we went in, we were ushered in the opposite direction to a pretty ugly shed in the back with white plastic tables.. The tasting began and we were poured such a tiny amount that it was barely a sip. It felt rushed and sorry but altogether very disappointing compared to others we went to and certainly not value for €20

Boutique Wine Market is a shop that specializes in French wines and offers tastings as well as cellar tours. Located in the basement of an ancient church, this wood-beamed store provides visitors with the opportunity to try and purchase local wines. It is a great place to pick up all your favorite wines from wineries and vineyards you have visited.

We had a wonderful experience with their guided tasting tour. My husband and I paid for the tasting, while our son accompanied us without participating, as he’s not into wine. The group size was limited to 10 people, but it ended up being just the three of us. Our guide spoke excellent English and shared his deep local wine expertise throughout the tour. We tasted four red wines, including a Grand Cru valued at around USD 295 per bottle (based on my later research), and three white wines featuring two premium crus. We were very impressed with the wine selection and overall tasting experience. The next day, when we dined at a local Michelin-starred restaurant, the sommelier recommended a red from the same winery as the first red we tasted (Marsannay 2021, approximately USD 64 per bottle market value or $85 in a Lyon restaurant ) to pair with our meal, which included both fish and chicken. Pinot Noir from Burgundy is well-structured and far more sophisticated than many Napa counterparts, which I find somewhat overpriced. The flavor profiles vary greatly depending on the winery and vintage. The Chardonnay also stood out, especially when served at the proper temperature. We particularly enjoyed the Saint-Aubin Premier Cru Les Champlots 2022 Blanc from Domaine Gilles Bouton et Fils (Vivino rating 4.0). Its floral and fruity notes of peach, apricot, and lemon, combined with a buttery hint and balanced acidity, made it exceptionally refreshing on an early summer day. We purchased a bottle and savored it back at our hotel. The wine glasses we used during tasting became a store souvenir. It’s a pity that both red and white Burgundy wines are quite delicate and don’t travel well in summer heat. Nevertheless, this historical church-turned-boutique wine market is a true gem. I highly recommend this guided tasting experience, especially for visitors from outside Europe. Good value with pleasant surprises.

We took a 7 glasses wine tour in the store which has a great ambiance. The only downside of the tour was the wine itself. Even the more expensive and possibly better wines were not to the liking of a group of 6 persons. The fact that it was unanimously off was odd. Especially considering the price.

(Translated by Google) While passing through Pommard, we were drawn to the macarons in the window. A wonderful discovery of the shop, with a warm welcome. The macarons are reasonably priced. The flavors are easy to spot... all that's left is to discover the chocolates...

It was an immense delight to rediscover LES DOMAINES DE POMMARD, a remarkable establishment that we had the pleasure of encountering during a trip to Burgundy in 2011. This wine store is an exceptional destination for admirers of Burgundy wines, boasting a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Delphine, the proprietor, graciously imparts her wisdom and enthusiasm with unparalleled magnanimity.
We visited this wine store on our first evening in the Bourgogne. The lady shop owner was very kind and explained a lot in French/English. There was no pressure to buy anything expensive. We enjoyed our wine a lot! Would really recommend going here.
Lauren R — Google review
We stopped in on a whim knowing nothing about the shop. The woman who helped us was so knowledgeable and passionate about the artistry, history, and personal aspects of the wines, wineries, and region. We left with multiple bottles and the stories of their creators and the trials of the harvest years. We can't wait to taste them and share them with friends. Will definitely be back if we find ourselves in Pommard again!
Kat W — Google review
Not very well mannered shop personnel. She was able to propose few options (although limited), but made us feel we were being rushed out of the shop. Also, she prohibited us to take a picture scan of two bottles to better decide our choice using a well known wine app, and had to enter manually the search by text on it... simply non sense and slower. I rather make it right with pricey bottles. We were very close to just leave without buying. Not recommended and we will not go back.

Not very friendly, nothing open for tasting

(Translated by Google) I recommend this shop for the kindness, courtesy, and expertise of the sales assistant, who is always ready to offer helpful information and advice on the wines for sale and their producers. The prices are fair, and for those who don't have the time or ability to visit the producers themselves, it's the best alternative to the more expensive shops in Beaune. Unfortunately, there's no tasting available, so it's perhaps best for those who already know the product type, but you can trust the advice they give you.

(Translated by Google) After having traveled the great wine route, finding doors closed everywhere... finally, in Pommard, we found this winery/shop open. With excellent advice and knowledge of the terroir. One regret: they didn't offer us a tasting, and choosing with confidence is good, but tasting is better. The prices remain excessive compared to other wineries we found later for similar products.

(Translated by Google) As soon as we entered, the saleswoman recommended a particular winery without even knowing our tastes or asking our preferences. A rather curious sales technique, but blindly trusting her opinion and her warm recommendation of this particular winery, we took a bottle of Hautes Côtes de Beaune 2022 from the Georges Joillot estate, which turned out to be corked once opened. Huge disappointment...

(Translated by Google) An enchanting stop in Pommard, what kindness from Madame Delphine, with her knowledge, anecdotes, precise explanations on the specificities of the climates, the wines, the vinification of the wines according to the areas and my tastes, often very dubious... An ideal cellar for true amateurs... And hop! I uncork, beautiful glass of Lehman and Riedel Pinot Noir, I taste, I smell, between finesse, balance and harmony, depth, the colors diverge, the aromas also... What is certain, the wines of Pommard are complex, I loved the wines with the climates Arvelets, Epenots, Pezerolles Vignots, compared to the Vaumuriens, and Vache, it is only a question of taste... Mine are quite simple, I am content with the best... And the best advice from this cellar... Looking forward to the next bottles... Looking forward to seeing you again... Carrefour Beaune, located at 9 Avenue du General de Gaulle in the charming town of Beaune, France, is a fantastic shopping destination for both locals and travelers alike. This large store boasts an impressive array of high-quality products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery delights, dairy items, and more. One standout feature is their Too Good To Go basket program that allows customers to purchase delicious food at discounted prices while helping to combat food waste.
For a little place like Beaune, this is a huge, massive, gigantic supermarket. Has everything you need in here. Huge selection of wines, butcher, fishmonger, fruit and veggies and the rest. Spent hours in here for the cold meats, cheese and wine. Amazing store!!!
Con S — Google review
This Carrefour supermarket located at Beaune, is perfectly sufficient for what it is. While it's not a hypermarket (there's a larger one nearby), it carries most of the grocery variety you'd need for your day to day needs. Prices are reasonable, and the selection is wide enough to cover most of your essential shopping.

Maison de la Bourgogne is a great place to find a diverse selection of regional products and an extensive range of wines from the area, all at affordable prices. They offer high-quality items and are conveniently located for easy access. It's the perfect spot for a quick break or if you're passing through and don't have time to explore the bourgogne region. Additionally, it's also a pleasant environment to work in.

(Translated by Google) Bad welcome, no advice, no calendar with vintages, there are good bottles and that's it and it's not cheap. When you buy six bottles you don't even have the box for the bottle you buy. It's not worth stopping if I could have ever given zero stars, I would have done so.
