Le Bistro de l'Hôtel is a renowned dining establishment located in the heart of Beaune, just 100m from the famous Hospice de Beaune. This elegant bistro, known for its chic and stylish interior, offers a dining experience that celebrates traditional French cuisine and top-quality ingredients. The restaurant is particularly praised for its signature dish, the Poulet de Bresse, which is prepared using the esteemed Bresse breed of chicken and served whole with a generous amount of butter.
Excellent spot for an elevated French meal! The atmosphere was lovely, service top-notch and the dishes were your classic French comfort food. If you're there to try the chicken (seemed like everyone was) but don't want the eyes on you for the tableside carving, there is another chicken dish on the menu that was delicious and just as good-looking as the other diner's full bird. The tableside flambé for the Grand Marnier crepes was pretty cool though! The wine list is one of the most extensive we saw on our entire 2 week trip. Highly recommend!
Kelsey D — Google review
We dined at Le Bistro de L'Hôtel and opted for the tasting menu for two, primarily for the highly sought-after Bresse chicken, a dish that is hard to come by despite its premium price. Given the cost, I expected the restaurant to be classified as fine dining; however, the service did not meet the standards one would anticipate from such an establishment. While the food itself was delicious, the service fell short, lacking even the basic attentiveness one might find at a casual bistro. Here are a few specific points that contributed to our disappointing experience: Reservation and Seating: I made a reservation online over a month in advance, complete with a credit card deposit. On the day of our visit, I was the first to arrive, yet we were seated at a table directly in front of the staircases—far from an ideal spot. It was disheartening to see later arrivals being assigned more desirable seats by the windows, particularly when they were a party of two. Service and Communication: Each dish was served by a different waiter or waitress, and none of them took the time to introduce the dishes. This lack of communication left us unsure about what we were eating unless we referred to the tasting menu ourselves. For a restaurant of this caliber, I consider this to be a fundamental oversight. Bresse Chicken Service: When the Bresse chicken was served, the staff began cutting it beside our table without any notification. We had no idea the chicken being prepared was for us until we saw someone slicing it. Clear communication in this regard is crucial, especially in a fine dining setting. Wine Pricing: The wine prices were excessively marked up, reaching up to three times the normal retail price. While it's common for restaurants to mark up wine, a threefold increase is excessive and should be approached with caution if you plan to enjoy a bottle during your visit. Overall, our experience at Le Bistro de L'Hôtel was quite disappointing, and I cannot recommend it. The combination of excellent food and subpar service left much to be desired. For a restaurant that positions itself as fine dining, the service should be equally refined to match the quality of the food.

Fabulous meal! Amazing service and extremely voluminous wine menu. The waiters were always attentive. We came for the bresse chicken and it was definitely worth it. The patio was lovely.

Four of us at the hotel and on the second night decided to try their bistro. We are so glad we did. The service, quality of food and wine selection was amazingly top shelf. Of course we enjoyed the roast chicken for two which was out of this world. We also enjoyed fresh cod, veal kidneys, escargot and the best frites we have experienced yet. Wine selection is massive. The staff were very attentive the whole night and enhanced our experience. Highly recommend and worthy of the 5 star rating. They earned it. .
W H — Google review
We made the booking by stopping by in person while only the pizza place attached next door was open. I thought for sure they would say “just call back later” but the guy at the pizza place walked out, around the corner and in to the closed restaurant to get the bookings register to take our reservation. We ordered the chefs tasting and a bottle of wine. They did a spin on the Bourgogne oeuf by serving it with a heap of truffles and the Bresse chicken was whole roasted and carved tableside, quite spectacular. The crepe Suzette was also flambeed tableside. Best combination of food and service we received over four days eating in Beaune. I would go back once on every visit.
Mike L — Google review
The Bresse whole roast chicken was easily one of the best meals I have ever eaten. With plenty to share between two of us, the chicken was carved at the table and served in it's own juices. A totally unique flavour.
James G — Google review
Ok. This is a must visit restaurant if you are into classic Burgundy cuisine. The food is fantastic and the wine list makes you drool just to peruse it. Dining here is not inexpensive but oh is it worth the splurge. The Bresse chicken for 2ppl is the single greatest chicken dish I have ever tasted. It is carved tableside with such mastery that it looks like you are watching a video played back in high speed. As appetizers we had White Asparagus and Snails; for entrees the Charolais Côte de Boeuf (for 2) and Poulet de Bresse (for 2). The beef was great but GET THE BRESSE. Really.
Antonio G — Google review
It's not often that a restaurant experience ticks every single box, but this one does. The menu and wine list lived up to every expectation. I credit the wonderful ambience to the staff, who manage to be efficient, sweet and courteous under pressure. I will go out of my way to visit again.

La Dilettante is a laid-back wine bar located just outside the ring of Beaune, offering an excellent selection of traditional and natural wines. The food menu includes croque monsieurs, local cheese plates, and salads, but the real star here is the wine. You might even find yourself rubbing shoulders with local young winemakers late into the evening.
A cozy tapas wine bar with fresh produce locally grown, knowledgeable staff and fast, friendly service. Be sure to order the fresh salad if it’s on the menu (we caught the end of tomato season) and stick around for a bottle of wine, which you can browse like books on the wall opposite the bar. Prices are hand written on each bottle. Accessible, wonderful food and wine.

Fab little wine and tapas bar with excellent food (best panisse ever) and great wine by the glass. Booking advised. We were unluckily seated next to some very loud people from across the pond but the staff were swift to move us and we had a great evening.
Gail P — Google review
Excellent food, great hospitality and a warm atmosphere. And of course an exceptional wine list (including lots of rotating by the glass options) leaning heavily toward organic and biodynamic producers. We loved it so much we came back for a second evening.
Patrick C — Google review
We popped in here for lunch, and yet again just superb food and wine to be had! We were very lucky to eat terrine, charcuterie and the sublime Haricots Vert in garlic oil - the best green beans we have ever had! All the reviews are spot-on with the recognition of the friendly staff and vibe!

When a pick from Google Maps turns out good you feel pleased. This is exactly what happened. One of the most sublime dinners. Each dish was great. The standout was the pork and the salad- especially the salad. Had some excellent wine by the glass. An Aligoté in white and a natural one in red. The biggest standout was the service from Yuka- thank you. July 2024

Probably the best place in the whole Beaune. Incredible wine choice, so big that you pick your bottle with the host, having a chat to assess your favorite choices. Service is straightforward, that shows confidence on how tasty everything is, you just want to discover more. Only good and down-to-earth people are coming here, we shared a bottle with a random couple next to us ❤️ can’t wait to come back!

Really good small plates perfect for sharing. It’s simple food but well made with fresh ingredients. Fantastic list of natural wines.

Mega good time! Fantastic dinner, super kitchen with local ingredients and very crafty chef. Goes without saying — the wine list is very impressive and a perfect match to the food. Very casual vibes inside, pleasant contrast to often stuffy Burgundy restaurants. Make sure to reserve a table in advance, it’s sold out every night.

Le Comptoir des Tontons is a charming local spot in Beaune, known for its laid-back atmosphere and delicious, locally-sourced organic food. The chef takes pride in refusing to be guided by accolades like the Michelin star, focusing instead on creating a welcoming environment for diners. The menu features easy-to-share tapas and larger plates made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, complemented by a wide selection of Burgundy wines.
Lovely atmosphere and generous hospitality from Richard and his team. Several hundred references and shelves heaving with curated goodies to share with a glass, bottle or more! Add to your must visit list in Beaune.

Terrible service - don't waste your time here with so many better choices nearby! The owner clearly doesn't care about customers or being nice ("eat, now pay & get out!"). Place was almost empty and he was "very busy" sharing a bottle with his friends at another table... We asked for suggestions on the wine list and he literally replied "Pick whatever, I don't have 1 hour to waste...". In a wine bar!!! So we just ordered a salad and a glass of wine and felt so unwelcome that we left to have dinner somewhere else ("Caves de la Madeleine", next door), where we had a super nice evening! tl;dr: salad was ok and the wine selection is great, too bad the owner has zero interest in his non-local customers.
Food C — Google review
Excellent French food. And a wine lise that you can get lost in.
Rono S — Google review
While the wine shop part might deserve 4 or even 5 stars, the restaurant certainly does not. The food is good, but quite overpriced for what you get. Especially today's meal of the day was an example for this: Porc meat of a quality that is definitely not keeping up with what I am used from restaurants in France for a solid 28€. The charcuterie was surely good but also nothing that we found for a considerably lower price elsewhere. The wine selection was excellent. Service friendly and welcoming.
Gregor J — Google review
Really have no idea how this restaurant has positive reviews. We should have taken notice of several warning signs and left before having a terrible, overpriced meal. 1. Out of perhaps 20 people in the restaurant, very few were French 2. I ordered a 2015 (good vintage) wine only to have the proprietor, after going to his cave, bringing a 2016 vintage and telling me that it was comparable 3. The menu had only one choice for a plat 4. One of the two page menu was devoted to advertising canned goods that they had for sale The restaurant advertises itself as being farm to table. The haricot salad appeared to contain canned beans that were for sale in the restaurant - in addition to 1/2 of the menu being devoted to advertising canned goods for sale, one wall of the restaurant had the goods on display. Further, most of these products were canned sardines, etc from Portugal and Spain The one main dish on the menu, confit canard, was too salty to eat and we left about half. Our experience in eating in small restaurants in France is that the proprietors will ask you if everything is good. In this case, even though we left a large amount of food on the plate, the owner never asked whether we liked the food. After paying, I told him that I was going to write a negative review and he did not seem to care. There are many excellent restaurants in Bourgogne, do not waste your money on this place
Harry W — Google review
Went there after dinner for their wines and was tempted to a pork dish which was really delicious
Ron — Google review
We had 5 wines by the glass, didn't like any of them (unlike the four other wine bars). Food is mostly canned products from the shop. Doesn't seem like a good option in Beaune.

Le Bout du Monde in Beaune, France offers a unique experience of horizontal poultry tasting, allowing visitors to sample various heritage breeds like Le Mans, La Fleche, and the golden Gauloise. Chef Menager carefully raises these chickens free-range without vaccines or chemicals and prepares them following Alain Chapel's traditional methods. La Ruchotte is known for its organic approach, rejecting battery-reared chickens and prioritizing the well-being and natural maturation of their birds.
The first thing that amazed us was the fact that their leather-bound wine list has 66 pages, containing probably thousands of wines! We ordered a pâté and cheese plate, along with glasses of local Burgundy white wine and Provence rosé. The 6 varieties of creamy, flavorful cheeses complimented the local wine perfectly. The prices were very reasonable, highly recommended.

Sanjna S — Google review
Incredible selection of wines, friendly staff, good food. It is a casual setting, which I like. the food is good but not extraordinary and therefore the pricing of the food is in my opinion too steep recently. Also the door does not close properly, so in the colder months, sitting close to the door can be uncomfortable, as there is a constant current of cold air (maybe a curtain could help?).
Nevena — Google review
The setting is beautiful and atmosphere was lovely. We had a delicious and reasonably priced bottle of wine here from a very large wine menu with a vast range of types and price tags. We decided not to eat our dinner here given the small choice of small plates (of mostly meats and cheeses) but enjoyed some delicious pittas with humour. The service was a little slow but worth the wait. Recommend a visit here in the beautiful Beaune!

Restaurant Le Berger du Temps offers a unique experience with its horizontal poultry tasting, allowing guests to savor a variety of chicken breeds such as Le Mans, La Fleche, and the golden Gauloise. Chef Menager carefully selects heritage breeds raised free-range without vaccines or chemicals, reminiscent of Alain Chapel's cooking in Mionnay. Emphasizing organic practices and rejecting battery-reared chickens, the restaurant also cares for Solognot sheep and Noir de Bigorre pigs.
I had my final dinner in France here, and it was truly out of this world. Everything — from the freshly baked bread to the starters and the perfectly slow-cooked beef — was absolutely delicious. And the chocolate mousse? Simply unforgettable. The service was impeccable as well. Unfortunately, we accidentally spilled some wine and broke a glass, but the waiter kindly brought us a brand-new glass of wine without hesitation. Hands down, the best way to end our short stay in Burgundy!!
Francesca Z — Google review
The restaurant was recommended to us by friends. The rating on Google Maps is also inviting. The only restaurant in this Beaune suburb promises a high standard. Few places inside and outside require a reservation. The menu offers classic French cuisine. There is a choice of three three-course menus, which, depending on the price, enable an ever-increasing selection of dishes from the menu. We were very satisfied with the appetizer and dessert. The main course weakened significantly and fell off. Unfortunately, the service was also a bit rustic and not of the level that we had hoped for. On Friday I was out of the rabbit hole, which was communicated without sympathy. The cutlery was also rather "thrown down" than lovingly placed. There was no rose by the glass. All in all a maximum of 4 stars

Wonderful find in this lovely village just outside Beaune. Recommended by our host at Fleurs des Vignes and we were not disappointed. Great menu, great service and all freshly prepared. Nice change from the touristy central Beaune restaurants.
Euan M — Google review
An eccentric restaurant densely populated by alabaster animals, the majority being cats. Despite the kitsch, the food was outstanding and moderately priced. We chose the €35 menu which gave us a choice from three dishes per course. All our selections were excellent. There was a large group of locals in the restaurant which gave the place a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

Koki is a modern restaurant located in the heart of Beaune, offering a unique dining experience with its sushi conveyor belt. The interior features light-wood accents and origami hanging from the ceiling, creating a contemporary atmosphere. The menu includes small plates of sushi, gyoza, steamed fish with miso, Japanese fried chicken (karaage), and salads that travel through the restaurant on the conveyor belt.
Super fun. Fish was fresh, good variety, prices 18 euro per person. Ala carte menu available as well.

Very good “sushi trail” place with a remarkable variety of dishes and regular filling up from the kitchen. The dishes range from simple sushi (maki, California, etc.) to more sophisticated ones, such as salmon tartare. You also have hot dishes, such as dumplings. The trail is always full, so that eating there can go really fast, which is another advantage if you are visiting the city and you don’t want to spend too much time in a restaurant. Very good value for money! To be on the safe side, it is better to book a table in advance.

Very kindly and friendly with childrens and vegetarians 💕 Restaurant has been changed the inside design during the lockdown in 2020. Nice wine and beverage list. My French family enjoy the lunch or diner here on weekend.

Great sushi. We had to sit outside due to not booking so could not do the set menu but the sushi was great. The bento box was a good all round choice.
L B — Google review
Perhaps a strange thing to have in Beaune but it was pretty good. It’s a set price for all you can eat which will get you in trouble as the flavors are good and there is plenty of options on the sushi train. Had a good Chablis to wash it down.
RANDY B — Google review
Good quality food for the reasonable price. Service is friendly and fast. I love the small train that takes food in front of us.

Worst customer experience in France. Servers got some attitude like she hates the world, immediately left. They’re not even Japanese… Food doesn’t look fresh.
Rebecca J — Google review
Excellent conveyor belt style Japanese place. Great selection of dishes (warm and cold) all freshly prepared and constantly topped. The conveyor was always full even with a full restaurant. I am usually not a fan of all-you-can-eat places, but this one did not compromise quality for quantity and was very well priced on top.

Garum-Table Vivante is a restaurant in Beaune that specialises in contemporary French cuisine. The menu features local sustainable ingredients and wines from little-known growers. There is also an outdoor terrace. Christophe Boquillon has been the chef here since January 2013.
This restaurant, listed in the Michelin guide, definitely deserves a star in my opinion. The oysters are a must-try. The wine list and prices are excellent. We loved every dish we had and the atmosphere was fantastic. Don’t leave Beaune without dining here. We absolutely loved it!
Gizem D — Google review
This place is special, from the time we arrived until we left the level of service , friendliness and high quality of food made our evening the best dining in France . We have been dining out for the last three weeks and Garum in my opinion is a hidden gem in Beaune! I’ll be back next year for sure !
Rebeca F — Google review
We came here based on the Michelin guide recommendation. The food was fine but not exceptional or memorable. I’m not convinced it should be on the Michelin guide. But it wasn’t bad! Just not great. You can see in our pictures what we got. The best flavour were the fries and the cheese. The duck was good but I think could be improved. The wines were great. And I would recommend coming but don’t expect the best meal ever!
Diego L — Google review
I thought the food was exceptionally good. I loved my main dish of slowed cooked beef with egg in an intense reduction. Fabulous wine list of course. Great service and beautiful interior. It looks like it has a lovely area to eat outside but it was pouring with rain the night I was there.
Malcolm G — Google review
Beware that the beef tartar is made with a non-traditional sauce which I can best describe as being in the direction of soy sauce. The waiter described it as home-made using fermented beef, I believe. I didn't like it very much, though it was a fun touch that they would prepare it right at the table. One point that felt off: when ordering, we asked the waiter if ordering four starters would be too much for two people. The waiter encouraged us, saying it was fine to order this. I'm not sure if we were told that it's *allowed* to order it, or if it's *recommended* to order this much. In any case, we were surprised when the beef tartar came with a side of fries — since we had also ordered fries ourselves. We would have appreciated clear information from the waiter that we're ordering the same item twice. We were going to drive in the afternoon, and thus didn't have wine. I got the feeling that our visit would have been better if we had been able to sit and enjoy some champagne and wine on the large terrace. We were looking for a smaller bit, a salad perhaps, but didn't really find it on the menu. This place is better suited for a longer and bigger meal.

Restaurant L'Expression Beaune is a centrally located dining spot offering high-quality ingredients, including whole fish from the market, rib of Galice beef, and Bresse Mieral chicken. The trendy dining rooms feature an open kitchen and glazed wine cellar. The food is prepared in a wood-fired oven, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors highly recommend trying the Poularde de Bresse, which is known for its exceptional flavor and generous portion size.
We loved this place. It was recommended by a good friend. He said the Bresse chicken is great. Understatement. This chicken is so fenomenal the best I ever had. And believe me I as a foodie know what a good chicken is. We started with the foie gras which was very tasty with the chutney of figues. All accomplished with volnay premier cru les santenots. We highly recommend this restaurant. They had many other great dishes so we will be back. Service outstanding.

Outstanding dining experience with fresh ingredients. The sea bass with fennel, dill, orange and capers was the freshest and finest taste we have experienced. The escargot with a crème and mushroom base was heavenly and flavored so well. The cheese plate and fine wine selection from Jeremy an expert son added to the overall experience. I’d come back to Beaune just to dine here. Our waiter worked so hard and was so pleasant providing suggestions. Congratulations Chef!!

Great place. We had the chicken and it was really good. Service was great. Great wine list. All around great dining experience and I would highly recommend it.

We had the most amazing dinner at L’ Expression. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect. The wine list was extensive and had so many great options. We loved the dessert wine recommendation that we were given. If we ever return to Beaune this will be our first restaurant to go back to!

Easily the best dinner we had in a week in Beaune. The poularde de Bresse was beautiful: expertly butterflied and roasted, juicy and delicious. More than enough for two! Massive wine list but staff are friendly and can help you find what you want to fit your budget. Would go there again in a heartbeat.

Out of this world. One of best meals I've had this year. Insane chicken.
Tao T — Google review
L’Expression never disappoints The service is consistently professional and welcoming. The wines are excellent, and the sommelier always offers thoughtful, well-matched recommendations. And the food? Simply outstanding — every time.
Franck J — Google review
We had an absolutely delicious meal here! Inventive French cooking with some small, international twists. We particularly enjoyed the carpaccio of carabinero prawn, the sweetbread with courgettes and basil pesto and our shared dessert; a play on tiramisu with a lot more texture and more importantly chocolate! They also serve the tastiest gaspacho we've ever had. Service is warm and their collection of wine is amazing. A definite must-visit in Beaune!

When exploring the charming towns of Beaune or Dijon, indulging in local delicacies is a must, and one standout dish to try is Escargot de Bourgogne. This delightful specialty features snails seasoned to perfection and often served with garlic butter, making for a rich culinary experience. You can find dedicated shops that offer these delectable morsels ready for baking, along with tasting menus that pair them beautifully with local white wine.
Helice is a very clean and beautifully decorated store that offers fast and delicious Burgundy escargot. It’s a convenient spot to stop by before a wine tasting. Although we were a bit rushed due to our scheduled wine tour and didn’t want to be late, the host and hostess were friendly and provided speedy service. They confidently claim to serve the best escargot, prepared by an exceptional chef. I would definitely visit again if I’m in the area.
Joyce L — Google review
Escargot shop that sells genuine Burgundy escargot, seasoned and ready to go into the oven. Along with various accessories. They offer a tasting menu that includes 1 dozen of escargot and a glass of local white wine. The owner is very enthusiastic in her work and will explain the production process, and more importantly, how to tell if the escargot served in a restaurant is high quality burgundy type or not. Worth a stop for a quick breakfast or lunch and learn about escargot.

Last weekend i visited this place with my wife, and we were thoroughly impressed. The owner was incredibly friendly, warm, and highly knowledgeable about Burgundian cuisine, especially escargot. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience escargots with Chablis, the owner was very friendly and polite. I spend really a good time, in the end she gave as well a suggestion about where have dinners in Beaune...I appreciated too much her kindness.

It was first time to try Escargot, but the experience was awesome! kind, friendly, and lively boutiquier with delicious dish and nice snail cream. Had a memorable time and hope to visit again. Tres bien!
Hyebin L — Google review
The snails were delicious and the host was very friendly with us. Really recommend the place. We came without a reservation and got a place, which doesn't happen often in the city :)

I was very happy to find this delightful artisan business. Karine the owner was kind and full of passionate information about her products . Here you can try the escargot which is grown naturally and not farmed in all different ways with the chance to eat in house or products to take home. They even have skincare!! Don't hesitate to try a french classic here. Top quality!! Merci Karine

Le Soleil, situated in Savigny-les-Beaune, is a charming restaurant known for its delicate tapas created by the talented chef Laila Aouba. The focus here is on natural wines, and the cheerful terrace surrounded by wild groves provides an idyllic setting to enjoy the outstanding food and wine.
Great concept of sharing dishes and a winelist of almost all regions of France. Food is very tasty and service is pleasant. We enjoyed dinner and got a table even on a short notice.

The sun is always shining at Le Soleil making it our favorite restaurant/bar a vins in Burgendy. Great hospitality by Lola, astonishing seasonal dishes by Leila with great combinations of texture, colors and flovors. In combination with Absolutely delicious ( natural/bio) wines each visit has been a treat!

There is no better place to enjoy a long lunch in Beaune than Le Soleil. This amazing restaurant offers a charming and cozy ambiance that makes you feel right at home. I highly recommend ordering a variety of dishes from their menu to share at your table. Their wine list focuses on natural selections and includes some truly fascinating options. The owners' recommendations were outstanding!

Can’t wait to tell people about this place. Amazing dining space with lots of things to look at. Personal and friendly staff that really put time and effort into their food. Amazing wine list, from vin nature to more classic wines. Labneh with ansjovis was our favourite, accompanied by a nice red wine from Simon Rouillard “Minuit” Make sure to bring cash, they can’t accept tip with card.
Mick E — Google review
Seasonal high quality ingredients, local produce and an extensive wine list carry the spirit of burgundy. It’s a great balance between tradition and modernity in a relaxed setting, with an open kitchen to make you feel right at home.
Karim F — Google review
Lola and her team are a shining (🌞!) outpost of small plate cuisine - just order the whole menu if you’re 4 or more. Original wine list with many back vintages from her family’s domaine (Simon Bize) and hand picked favorites from the natural wine world. Reservations are a must, it’s well worth the short drive from Beaune.
Tkssusa — Google review
Super well hiden in the Bourgogne, beautiful place, very good menu, natural wines, very tasteful inside, highly recommend!!
Marjolijn E — Google review
The positive reviews perplexed us after eating here. We had high expectations basked on the reviews. Instead, we found the service to be lackluster. Perhaps we were unlucky with menu that week? The plates were small, but too pricey to order several. We were so disappointed that we skipped dessert. We had bad weather so we couldn’t enjoy the nice patio.

We visited in August and the staff were incredibly warm, kind and welcoming. While their wine tasting wasn’t available, they kindly offered to give us a free wine tasting if we just bought a bottle of wine. The wine tasting ended up being of almost 12 different wines (both red and white) from across the entire region and Marco kindly and patiently explained how the different terroirs affected the flavour and aromas of each wine. Overall their service was far above what we expected, and we ended buying a lovely Saint Aubin white wine that we never would have gotten to taste anywhere else. Lovely experience overall - we couldn’t have been happier. Highly recommended!

Great wine tasting. We initially agreed on the 3-wine tasting, but ended up tasting almost 10 I think. They helped us to choose most of them from their selection, and they were amazing. We didn't have to pay for the tasting because we bought some bottles afterwards. I highly recommend, friendly service and a great selection of wines.

We had two excellent lunches here during our stay in Beaune — we enjoyed it so much the first day that we came back again the next. The cooking is thoughtful and understated, with local, organic ingredients prepared in a way that lets their quality shine. Everything was fresh, well-balanced, and quietly delicious. The wine list is especially notable — focused on natural and local producers, clearly selected with care and respect for the region’s traditions. It’s a great place to discover something new or just enjoy a beautifully chosen glass. The service was warm without being overbearing, and the whole experience felt grounded and genuine. A lovely spot for anyone looking for a high-quality, relaxed meal in Beaune.

Visitors have described the experience as amazing, praising the attention to detail and the art of mise en place perfected by the talented women behind this establishment. Despite its understated exterior, stepping inside reveals a magical place where one can browse through magnificent equipment and cooking utensils.
What a day! I am so happy that it worked out for three of us to be able to get into a class while visiting Beaune. It was truly a highlight of our trip. Not only did we learn tons about French cooking but sat down with the most awesome group and enjoyed the fruits of our labor. The whole staff made sure our visit was the most exceptional experience - the coffee, the instructions, the food, the people, the wine and champagne…..simply the best! Thanks for having us in your beautiful store and kitchen!

Had the pleasure of meeting Marjorie herself while she was opening up her store; what a lovely woman to talk to. I didn’t know I was basically talking to a celebrity. :) She kindly offered to let us in a little early, we were in desperate need of good coffee, and when we came back a little later her son in law delivered. Best coffee in town by far, and of the best espressos I ever had. The store is a feast for the eyes.

Very understated from the outside, but enter and whole place just comes alive and you enter into a magical place. Love places like this!!! Have to tell you this is a spectacular and awe inspiring shop, with some magnificent equipment and cooking utensils. The back area is like an atrium with the most amazing view of an enclosed courtyard and a spiral staircase. Worth taking a look and a browse around. They even do cooking classes, but you have to book in advance, very popular. Oil, and the coffee is fantastic!!!

Just a quick question. Are the chefs French heritage or are they Americans? I didn’t want to leave a star rating yet but could not post my question without doing so. I haven’t been but I was looking for a French cooking school and just came across this site. Hoping to visit their store sometime this fall. It looks fabulous.

We spent an amazing day with the Cook’s Atelier family. We opted for the Saturday market tour and then a cooking class followed by a leisurely lunch. Surprised by the review where someone thought this was just an Ok class. We’ve done cooking classes in several countries and this was our favorite. Warm and friendly with a lot of great food and wine. It seems some don’t feel a class is challenging enough and my take is they have to make a group class approachable for all levels. If you want a highly skilled class then do a private lesson Rollie join a class that is billed as such (this one is very clearly advertised as a fun, leisurely day ended with a long leisurely lunch). I’m a pretty decent cook and felt I picked up plenty of useful tips I’ll use at home. They also have a great shop downstairs with a lot of fun items to take home.

The cooking class with Marjorie and Kendall was an incredible and unforgettable experience! Marjorie and Kendall were wonderful hosts of Beaune and truly made us feel welcome. We started the morning with a tour of the market and met some of Marjorie and Kendall's favorite local farmers and suppliers. After the cooking class, we enjoyed an amazing meal and conversation with other travelers, all with excellent service from the Cook's Atelier staff. Marjorie and Kendall even went as far as offering recommendations to us for restaurants, bakeries, and some of their other favorites in the area.
Zach F — Google review
We enjoyed our experience at The Cook’s Atelier. However, it did fall short of our expectations. While nothing was out of order, it did not deliver the bang for buck we expected. We have done cooking classes in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Thailand and Singapore in recent years. At each and every course we walked away with recipes in hand. When asked if we would receive recipes for the dishes we prepared today, we were told we must purchase the cookbook. This cheapened the entire experience for me even though it was the most expensive class of this type ever taken. Additionally at rates like these, I did not expect to sit with an empty wine glass or to have to ask twice for more water for the table. It’s the little things that count when you are expecting attention to every detail. We have eaten at gourmet restaurants such as Gordon Ramsey’s “Maze” in London for less than we paid today and had the preparation of each dish thoroughly explained as well as the wine pairing selections. All in all, a nice experience, definitely not a negative one, but not as great as one would expect for the price of admission.
A. M — Google review
We were drawn in by the board outside boasting the 'best ice coffee' in Beaune, but they have nowhere to sit and enjoy it (which we weren't told until after we had ordered - we figured we could go upstairs to the 'attic'). We stood wandering about the shop trying to drink up and leave quickly because the owner was complaining loudly on the phone and in the store, seemingly because the air con unit had been installed a couple of inches off-centre. It was unprofessional and made us feel very uncomfortable. The shop is beautifully laid out, the cooking equipment is stunning (very expensive) and there was a generous wine selection, but it was hard for us to understand why their coffee was advertised - nowhere to sit, not particularly special and very pricy (€9 for two black coffees).
