Truly one of the best places to go out in Ålesund. Great staff, great atmosphere, the views towards the sea is stunning, the area is gorgeous and it's a cornerstone in the local cultural scene.

An important cultural institution in Ålesund. Housed in a former fish oil factory with amazing views of the seagulls and salt water right outside the windows, this establishment has hosted all kinds of events since its beginnings, including a lot of jazz and related concerts, which were extremely important for my early days as a listener.

It's a place for drinking and great food, and the show's humor is on that level. But it's many laughs, and often fully booked!

A total rip off. The whole point of visiting was for the view and the cafe. The cafe was closed ( we got there about 11.30 am on a Wednesday) and consequently no toilets so check to see if they cafe is open before you go. The view point was open but 100 NOK ( about £7.50) which is a complete rip off in my opinion as you can see just as much from the view points outside of the Building. The views are stunning but beware there are no toilets other than the ones in the cafe.

Very beautiful! There’s a free viewpoint just a few steps behind the paid one. The free viewpoint with a picnic table is perfect! A great activity with a stunning view of the city. There’s also a café where you can enjoy the view from indoors.

One of the the most beautiful towns we visited on our cruise. The trip to the mountains summit is a must with fantastic views. The land train has a really informative audio guide of the towns locations and history. There are some really interesting buildings and walks. The people are friendly and very helpful.

Well worth the 418 step climb to the top for the fabulous view of Alesund and beyond.

When we travel, we enjoy visiting local breweries and trying their beers. This place had it all. It was very modern, inviting and had a great ambience. It was a large brewery with plenty of seating with open windows to look out and to enjoy the view of the harbor. They had some areas with very comfortable seating that was available and we were lucky to sit there. They also offered some games to play if you like. We wanted to try the beers so we ordered flights of beers and they were large size flights and they had many selections. We ordered food, we had a burger and their wings, and both were very good and the Staff was very friendly. You can order from the bar and they will deliver your order to your table and they also have people coming around to check on you. Service was fast and very friendly. Our experience here was enjoyable and very relaxing. I will absolutely recommend this place.

A restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Tried several kinds of beef burgers and two types of chips. Taste is fine but not the best. Prices are a bit high.

We were able to try this great place as they normally are not open on Monday but since the cruise ship was in, they decided to open up. Did a flight which be warned are good sized pours. They have 25 beers that are brewed on site. Other liquor and non alcohol drinks. No food during our visit due to normally being closed which was fine with us. No shortage of food on the cruise. 😉 That is why no rating on food. If in town, suggest you stop in. Staff was awesome. Environment is awesome.

Don’t come here for the food. It is an award-winning place for its brew selections, and was featured in the local newspaper for the recognition. But if you’re looking for quality/value for money from a food perspective, I’d recommend going elsewhere. A gastro-pub looking place, with the food selection just ok. Our party of five had the Mexican burgers, the Chicken ones and the patatas bravas and fries. The burgers don’t come with fries, and they try to make you order a fries per person despite it being a separate menu item (duplicitous sevice irks me). Despite the European size servings, the burgers tasted just ok - not juicy and tender meat and if you didn’t have all the accoutrements like guacamole or nacho or saucy bits, the meat was just ok. People probably mainly come here to drink not eat. The atmosphere was cool - shuffle board games at 4kr a minute — I don’t know of many places that charge by the minute — but hey.. and the locals obv come to hang out in this chic setting. But don’t come for the food as we did. You’ll not be too satisfied. Gastro pub looking place which is really just a pub.

I didn't try the food but the beer was good. They offer a "plank" of 4 beers for around 300 NOK depending on the beer strength - you pay a bit more for any over 5% ABV :) very friendly service too.

Blairs music all night that travels across the water and through walls. The bass is too loud and I'm surprised they don't get frequent complaints for letting so much noise escape and keep everyone awake. I love a good night out but they could adjust their bass levels and music to prevent it from traveling so far.

The cocktails are incredibly small, please be warned before you order. They put lots of ice and serve on small glasses

Horrible! Met by a servant shaking on her head. Made it clear she didnt vant any customer. Poor language skills. We wanted to sit outside due to convid 19. This is a good tapas bar with a nice view of the canal. Perfect for small eats.

Of course it is expensive small pprtions, but it is a tapas bar. Everything is looking amazing. Some courses are good, others are amazing. Cocktail and Mocktail were okay. Stuff is very friendly, Ambiente is perfect.

I love trying new places, but we enjoyed our experience here so much that we came back for dinner 2 nights in a row. Service was great, view/atmosphere was great, and the food was wonderful.

Fresh and tasty. Cabbage and smoky butter sauce (NOK 95) - Good. Interesting. Jamon de Serrano 24 months (NOK 109) - Good. Iberico de Bellota 48 months (NOK 159) - Good. Asparagus and crispy chicken skin (NOK 169) - Good green asparagus. Patatas bravas and tomato sauce (NOK 89) - Fine.

We had an incredible dinner here one night after having dined at the sister restaurant Bro. Excellent all the way around. The staff is tremendous and a special salute to the general manager Fredrik. He went out of his way to see we were taken care of.

When Bro was fully booked, we gave this place a try - they share a kitchen and are connected with an internal staircase. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos but our standout dish was the celeriac - it doesn't sound interesting but it was delicious. The bread with aioli was also really good. The ox was just OK and the toast bikini was waaaay too salty - almost inedible! Staff were nice but it took a while to get their attention as it was so busy. Prices were reasonable by Norwegian standards.

A must visit in Ålesund. For local food try the ground floor while for more international and a bit of fusion stay on the first floor.

I am deeply disappointed with the harbour facilities. There are no toilets and showers available - clear inconsistency with the Harbour Guide. 2 stars because the power and water supply is still available and the surrounding is quite pleasant. There are much better and cheaper harbours in the Ålesund proximity. Do not recommend.

Had a nice dinner there last week. Everybody in our company was satisfied. I took the trout which was really good! Good service and a really nice view of the beautiful Ålesund guest harbour.

We had lunch in this restaurant and we liked the bacalao so much that we decided to repeat again. However, the second time the service wasn’t so good, we were waiting a long time to order and it was a bit caothic. Besides, there was a problem with tap water in the city, so we ordered mineral water instead. However, we saw the waiter full the bottle in from a big jug and the taste was quite weird. I doubt it was “mineral”. The food is quite good but the service should be improved.

Get the codfish plate. The fish has Superior level quality. The kind you get in Lisbon. Snowy white meat and perfectly cooked as well. Top shelf stuff 👍

I had a lovely experience at Anno Restaurant in Norway. The location is perfect, with a beautiful and upscale atmosphere that makes it feel like a special dining spot — yet still welcoming and comfortable. We didn’t have a reservation and they seemed quite busy, so I was really grateful they were able to accommodate me and my mom on short notice. The frites were absolutely delicious, crispy and golden, and the sauce they came with was so flavorful — I could’ve eaten a whole plate just of those! I also ordered the mushroom pasta, which was so good I couldn’t finish it in one sitting and had to take the rest to go so I could enjoy it later. Rich, savory, and perfectly cooked. Overall, a wonderful meal with great service. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Delicious Norwegian food served here. Nice and cosy ambience too. The fish soup is milky and flavourful. The ingredients in the soup, fish and shrimps were so fresh. The focaccia with chicken was just as good too. This restaurant is self-service except for the dishes ordered. As for coffee, you can give this place a miss.

One word: wow! Absolutely recommended to dine here. Worth every single penny! Great seasonal menu based on local ingredients. Cozy vibes and wonderful staff service. The food was super delicious with many creative combinations in each dish. Reservation is required since it is busy.

Lovely spot overlooking the harbour, cancels highlight the atmosphere of this whole building which has separate areas for bar and restaurant. One of our best meals here, cabbage was amazing, best I’ve ever had. Others dishes slido good

You can't fault this place - absolutely amazing experience for us: the food was cooked to perfection, full of flavours and beatifully presented, the wines were great and the service was warm, welcoming and attentive but not disturbing. The ambience is also nice, with dimmed lights and low noise level to comfortably talk. I can easily recommend this for someone spending a few days in Ålesund and willing to have a pleasant and relaxing dining experience.

A restaurant that belongs to Brosundet hotel in Ålesund Norway. The chef knows its job. Any meal I had there was absolutely incredible. The flavors are so well balanced and the crayfish was the best prepared fish I’ve ever eaten in my life so far. I’ve tried crayfish and later red fish (on two occasions). Also, do not miss the cauliflower stake with bacon powder and truffles.

Great cuisine and wonderful staff equals a perfect culinary experience. Reservation is recommended, as walk-ins may expect limited time slots. Our waiter was very helpful, especially with the wine choice. It was the best restaurant we visited in Ålesund.

Visited here for the chef tasting menu and wine pairing. While I love trying new foods from other cultures, sometimes you can get scared by the names of the dishes or what is put in front of you. While this happened to me, I did try everything, and I cleaned every plate! The food was so good! The wines were all paired perfectly (I did not like the wine served with dessert but that's a me thing, I don't care of the bubbles). The king fish, served in brown butter and soy was amazing. The monk fish in a lobster bisque...wow. Lamb was amazing as was the light dessert that had rhubarb, white chocolate and the delicious foam made from yogurt and cheese. Sometimes you got to just say f**k it and trust the chef. I'm glad I did.

I had a light lunch with salads and traditional open-bread toasts outside in an existing floating platform over the channel/ fjord. The food was very good. Service was normal to slow, but efficient. The restaurant’s room inside is very unappealing and dark - nobody sit there. Maybe at night the atmosphere is different.

Lovely place. We spent around 1.5 hours walking around the outside area. Accessible by car/bus, ~15-20 mins from Ålesund city center.

Living History in a Lovely and Peaceful Setting To visit Sunnmore Open-Air Museum you’ll need to make your way up to charming Alesund, a worthwhile stop for many reasons! The museum boasts a truly wonderful presentation of Norwegian history, and was to us much more enjoyable than the thorough but somewhat overwhelming Folk Museum in Oslo. The grounds at Sunnmore are meticulously kept. The strategic layout of the historic buildings plus thoughtful landscaping takes full advantage of the sun and lakes, offering endless back-lit, dreamy Norwegian vistas from every angle. The nearby mountains were still snow-capped during our visit, adding to the folktale atmosphere. Be sure to walk over to the church, but be respectful that this is a cemetery still in use. Note: there is handicapped parking close to the museum. Alesund is easily reached by air from anywhere in Norway. Rent a car at the small and efficient airport and begin exploring. There are many fantastic towns like Andalsnes within easy driving distance of Alesund. This region is worth far more exploring than one stop on a cruise ship itinerary can ever give you.

I went in the weekdays and it’s really relaxing for leisure walk/ hike. The park itself doesn’t have much guide but the paths are clear enough to lead you to all the key areas. The exhibits/ houses well displayed and demonstrated how the Norwegian live in the past. Quite an interesting place to explore.

Beautiful outdoor museum. Very cute little houses, you can see how people lived there. A lot of interesting history of Norwegian life. There is an exhibition of small and large boats. You can easily spend an hour or two there walking outside, watching the lake and flowers.

Wow what a great place to have a relaxing beer and some warm hearty food. The service was excellent and our bar man made us feel very welcome. He was full of banter and made us Aussies feel like locals. Thanks again!

Very tasty alcohol-free drinks! Also the atmosphere is pretty comfortable, and what I liked the most was that the places/tables were separated from each others so we didn’t have any connections with other people sitting there. As the food I’ve ordered a vegetarian burger with fries, and it was very delicious for not so much money (205kr). Very recommended 😊

The Thai food is great and also option for kids . Western food available. Owner really kind and provides any request. We asked for a dish we saw in the market (grilled fish covered in salt which is an authentic Thai dish) . The dish was not in the menu and he accommodated us happily. He even took us to choose our fish .

315 NOK for the ribs in the attached picture. They were overcooked and yet somehow lukewarm when they arrived, the sauce was ok but cold. The fries and corn were also cold. The coleslaw was mixed with ketchup or some sauce and dumped on a single piece of lettuce, both my partner and I could not finish it due to the strange taste. On a positive note, her wings had decent heat and flavor. Regarding the spare rib meal, for 315 NOK I would expect a little more food and certainly more flavor. 0.4L IPAs were 125 NOK each but that's to be expected, no real issues there. Another plus: the Hendrick's mixed drink my partner got was delicious and the highlight of the night. Service was good at first, but after the meal was over it became inattentive - we had to ask for our bill twice with two different servers over a 15 minute period. The atmosphere was fine when we showed up: no live music, quiet, and very fun/tacky decorations on the walls. Overall though, the price of 965 NOK was not worth the experience.

They were playing some great music if you like cheesy 90s pop (Britney, Aqua, Sugababes)... Nobody was eating when we went because it was late, but the drinks were good.

I had the Blue Cheese burger with onion rings. The food was properly cooked and nicely presented albeit on a tray with paper liner. However, although nicely presented four small onion rings for 49kr (4.25 eu over one euro per onion ring) just left me feeling ripped off. Come on, portion size is a management decision and the food cost for onion rings is relatively small against the cost of poor reviews and reputation. My service was more than acceptable for a sports bar and burger joint.

Nice place with a great wine list. However, it is very expensive, and the wines by the glass were slightly less expensive than buying the entire bottle. The service was very friendly and the cheese selection on the platter was delicious.

As my wife and I had been visiting Alesund we found a winebar witch looked inviting so as explorers we ventured inside, this was for us a lovely find so we sat and chatted to a lovely lady who looked after us, with reference to some fine wines and recommend one, witch we both enjoyed and also had a charcuterie board with intalian olives so please do visit if you are nearby on a trip.

This place has an impressive selection, with over 60 pages in their wine list. They even have a cider that’s pretty decent and which is made with locally grown apples.

Great wine bar with a great wine list - also if you only want to try single glasses instead of a bottle. The atmosphere is great, the cellar looks very cool, and there are possibilities to either sit in smaller groups or along a big shared table. Highly recommend!

Great wine bar in the heart of Ålesund. With a fantastic range of wines, specially from Italy. Romantic atmosphere cozy, good music and lovely service. It’s a great place for a wine tasting event… although it’s well known that alcohol prices in Norway are really high… just be prepared for this.

Wonderful wine bar with a stunning collection of wines. Lovely Spanish lady serving who was very knowledgeable. A fine Lebanese Syrah/Granache, a simple platter of cold meats, cheese and fresh warm sourdough - bliss!!!

We went on an Easter weekend, the place was pretty busy with take away orders, with few regulars by the bar. The host was a delight, she greeted us and showed us to the table kindly. You have to order by the bar, both the food and the drinks. We ordered a couple of beers and Italian pizzas. Vegetarian pizza was tasty, with good toppings. Good portion sizes and good taste for the price.

Regarding pizza its one of the best in the City. I normal go there to enjoy pizza, beer and fotball. And can recomend them for very good pizza. Have not been there during night time.

19.1.24 As of writing this, this is my first time here. I was expecting quite good food from here but sadly that was not the case. I ordered an Italian Parmigiano, and two American style pizzas (I was not alone). The Italian was by far the worst form the bunch, the dough reminds me of those bad/cheap DIY pizza dough that you can buy at a store, the sauce was mid and the cheese and toppings were fine. The American was not much better, its the kind of pizza that's served at the bowling alley, and the bowling alley does a better job (take it with a grain of salt, I haven't been at the bowling alley in a while but I do remember it being much better there). And the last bad thing were the dishes, I noticed that the dish I got was dirty and the fork and knife were dirty as well. But when the staff came, she was very nice and helpful and changed it immediately. The atmosphere is great, it's quiet, not many people and it looks good from the inside. Sadly I would not come again with how the food is currently and for what I paid the food I got was not good, but the staff were great and so was the atmosphere. 5/10

10 March 2017 - perfect place, very reasonably priced (compare to many other places in expensive Norway), very fast service, pizza baked in real oven with real fire - smooth and tasty - exactly what you need to warm up in cold Norway. As pizzeria - highly recommended!

We came here because the reviews were good and left very disappointed. Ordered italian style pizza which was very below average. Price is in norwegian standards. The mozzarella and tomato sauce were of very poor quality, therefore the pizza was overall not better than a frozen one. Would not recommend to my ex.

Best pizza in Alesund. Was highly recommended to us by an American we met in the skybus on our way from Airport to city centre.. I'm glad we took his advise to come here 😋 Menu is only in Norwegian but u can always seek help from the Owner she's very helpful. Reasonably priced.

Irish themed pub in the centre of Alesund Close to the port area. Fast and friendly service. Free WiFi and large screen TVs showing all kinds of sport. Usual high price for alcohol found in Norway. Didn't have any food so can't comment.

Great find in Alesund. Some great beers on tap, as well as Crow Moor Cider. Really enjoyed the Frydenlynd Juicy IPA. Just a couple of blocks from the cruise berth.

I had a bad allergy (to mold) flare-up after visiting here. The MUSTY smell was OVER-WELMING and everywhere in the main 3-story museum. All the exhibits were VERY old, and most of the exhibits on the 2nd and 3rd floors were in Norwegian, not English. We also thought the museum was expensive. We only saw 2 other couples there. I wish we never went.

Fisheries Museum Alesund The Fisheries Museum portrays the historical development of fisheries and the on-land processing work – from the first bite in the water right outside of the house to the high-tech fishing vessels of today. By the beautiful harbour in Ålesund you can find the landmark Holmbua. The warehouse from 1861 escaped the great Town Fire of 1904, and today it holds Aalesunds Museums´ fisheries exhibitions. Take a stroll through the exciting displays and learn more about the town's production of dried cod and other types of fish products. Stop by the laboratory where cod liver oil is produced, the smell alone will set you in the right mood! You will also have the unique possibility to learn more about old trades that are practically extinct today, such as barrel making. In 2010, a new and large exhibition on sea fishing opened - worth a visit!

3 floors in museum, we asked at entrance if all in english and were told yes. Only first floor translated, rest all in norvegian. Not very useful to visit unless you are local.

Small museum in a restored building telling stories of fishing cod and preserving cod in the area. Nothing big, just some simple exhibits to support the stories.

Maybe the best museum I've been to? There's the museum itself, which has lots of quality exhibits on the local fisheries, and there were also lots of fun attractions outside. We climbed the rigging in a big wooden boat, and took out some rowing boats into the harbour. An excellent museum, with really friendly staff too. Thanks!

GREAT PLACE FOR KARAOKE! Would recommend if you like cheesy karaoke and wilding out with your friends in this beautiful city!

Good beer

Checked out a few of the local bars in Ålesund. Here the bartender took time to chat with me about my travels and my home country’s political landscape. The beer was excellent and the customers all appeared to be locals. Beware, there is no piano at this bar. Nonetheless I enjoyed the establishment.

There is a fancy and warm place, especially if you are more than 30 or under 50, and you want a cozy place to have a great night with more talking a side of the drinking

Ålesunds worst service. Badly cleaned beer pipes leaving bitter taste on everything they serve. Topping that the rude bar personnel lack the skill of making beer foam, you should stay clear of this place.

Got to sit at the bar and chat with a nice bartender. Nice variety of drinks and the place is cool. I did see a whiskey sour made with a premade sour mix.. /that/ was not cool!

Loved this hidden gem we found during our cruise stop at Alesund. Great local pub with reasonably priced beers and a pool table. Staff and locals very friendly and welcoming. Shout out to Oscar who made our visit 😊🍻

We were on the Iona holidaying around the Fjords. We really loved walking around this lovely town. The wealth of Art Nouveau buildings was heartwarming. It's a period I love. We enjoyed walking along the harbour and back to the town. Would love to explore this area further. We have to go again!

Lovely Alesund yes well worth a visit very walkable from ship just fellow the green feet from the port but very busy because 3 ships in port the queen ann and msc preziosa and our ship with only 500 max the port was swamped.

Lovely place got on hop on and off bus got off at open museum and up to the view point. It about 15 to 20 minutes walk a long a road were the bus drops u off

Beautiful little town, full of interesting places and statues.

This is a beautiful town, postcard perfect! It is nice to walk around leisurely exploring its nooks and crannies. When you need a break, there are lots of cafes and restaurants to choose from. We didn't get the chance to go to the Atlantic Sea Park. This will be for next time. The walk up to the Aksla Viewpoint was worth the effort as well.

All these buildings where replaced after a fire in the early 20th century! Beautiful Art Deco designs wherever you look

The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming, making the visit feel personal and memorable. Whether you’re a serious collector or just love browsing through timeless pieces, this shop is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended for anyone exploring the area!

Gem in Ålesund - it has just about everything, including interesting selection of vintage magazines, postcards and maps that could make a unique souvenir. Owner is funny and kind. She makes a great cup of coffee, and it’s a great place to sit and watch the gulls. Recommendation: If walking from Central Ålesund, don’t listen to Google Maps route as it’s incorrect. If you are coming from central Ålesund, follow Molovegen under Akadamiet Ålesund building and you’ll reach a street with quintessential Norwegian wooden buildings - it’s on your right, a little ways past the Fishery Museum.

This place is on a charming building on the water. Seagulls line the windows and greet you. The stores is full of unique treasures which I much prefer as souvenirs to something from a gift shop! Lovely place and kind staff.

Beautiful and cozy antique shop right on the water. You will be taken back to an older and simpler time and no better day to browse than when cold, rainy or windy outside. Owner is friendly and you can get a coffee there as well.

We came to Alesand for a long weekend and had heard good things about this bar. But my expectations were exceeded! Not only is Vilda a warm and engaging host but her ability to read you and know exactly what cocktail to make is like some kind of magic witchery! Highly recommended. Wish it was my local 😍 Maya!
