History museum
Turku Castle, a 13th-century fortress turned museum, offers a glimpse into its transformation from medieval stronghold to Renaissance palace. Situated on the edge of the river Aura since the 1280s, it stands as Finland's largest surviving medieval building and one of only three castles in the country. Despite Turku's Great Fire wiping out much of its medieval splendor, this iconic attraction remains unscathed and is among Finland's most visited sites.
Admittedly I thought this was going to be another tourist trap. On the outside it reminds me a little of Brans Castle but for €16 admission I thought it was going to scarce. I was greeted warmly and it was mentioned that free lockers were available. I was more than happy to drop my cumbersome backpack. I loved the transition between each room, it felt natural with the narrow steps and ceiling and everything had good presented information. Once I had gone round the castle I collected my bag then headed to what was signed as gift shop. I wasn't prepared for another massive tour of things. I spent a good few hours here. Would definitely recommend.

Turku Castle was an impressive and pleasantly surprising visit. At first glance, the exterior didn't seem particularly breathtaking, but as I got closer and walked around the grounds and then inside the castle, I appreciated it a lot more. I spent a full three hours exploring the castle, and there was so much to see and learn. The exhibits were great, with lots information and interactive elements that provided more insight into the intertwined history of Sweden and Finland. One of the things I learned was that this castle used to be on an island and was connected to the mainland later, which I found quite cool. For some reason I was particularly fascinated by all the windows that you could see from the inner courtyard! The little park around the castle is a lovely and peaceful space to walk through. I also have to mention the museum shop, which has a lot of interesting items.

Turku Castle is an absolutely fascinating place to explore! The architecture, exhibits, and well-preserved rooms really bring Finnish history to life. Walking through the halls feels like stepping back in timem. It’s definitely one of the highlights of Turku and worth spending a couple of hours discovering all its corners. One small tip for future visitors: I couldn’t easily find a public WC or urinals during my visit, even the paid ones. Overall, a wonderful and memorable visit — highly recommended for anyone interested in history, castles, or just enjoying a unique cultural landmark in Finland
Tejiri C — Google review
A historical place that was the central location of Finland for hundreds of years when Finland was a part of Swedish kingdom. As a castle it's not that spectacular compared to castles in other parts of Europe, but for understanding Finnish medieval and renessaince history, it's an important place to visit. It has burned down several times, last time during WWII, so pretty much all wooden parts are relatively new compared to the age of the castle.
Samuli S — Google review
An old castle with a museum inside. I visited on early hours before the museum actually opened, so didn't got a chance inside. Around the museum is nice green relaxing park with lot of benches and place for cycle parking. Peaceful place must visit
Churchill J — Google review
Worth a visit! Every corner of Turku Castle tells another story about its history. I visited on Turku Day (third Sunday of September), and in the courtyard there was medieval music playing, I’m not sure if that happens regularly, but it definitely made my visit feel like time travel. My husband and I explored the castle for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, which I think is enough time to see everything at a relaxed pace.
Teodora D — Google review
Amazing place. But if you wanna go there, be careful, because Google write that Monday is open, but it's closed.
Mzsuka — Google review
Places that have been around for over seven hundred years collect history, especially if they're used and adapted over that time. Turku Castle has been around long enough that the /geography around it/ has changed; originally built as a small fortification on a smaller island in the middle of the river it eventually grew into a local seat of feudal government and got bigger and better fortified as it connected to the northern shore and the river itself migrated south. Since it was in use this entire time, it was adapted both to its changing roles and to the changing architectural styles and methods of its times. Like many other such places, parts of the castle were damaged beyond economical repair for the time, functionally abandoned, then a subject for renovation and restoration by Romantically-driven movements, damaged some more by World Events™, and finally restored in the modern era with more modern sensibilities regarding the preservation of such buildings. All this lead-in is to say that a goodly portion of Turku Castle's restoration is of the "light touch" vareity. Some portions have been restored/renovated to a condition to show what they would've been like in well-attested times, particuarly the Renaissance-era outer wings, but others, like the medieval central bailey, are preserved structurally so they're not ruins but otherwise not trying to be what we imagine they would've looked like at the time. For a few examples (for which pictures are provided), where there's still signs of murals on the walls they've been preserved but not /restored/; if they're faint, they're faint. If they're more visible because they were protected behind a bookshelf for a couple hundred years, then that's the state they are preserved in. The old chapel used to have a vaulted ceiling in the medieval period but this was dismantled somewhat roughly later to match both Renaissance preferences for rectilinear rooms and for the building materials; both are preserved in that it's a rectilinear room but it's clear where the vaulting was. The portions of the Castle that are more museum-like, usually the Renaissance areas, are more completely restored but this appears to be done both as a way to ground the exhibits and also to demonstrate the stronger academic knowledge of better-recorded times. These exhibits are comprehensive, recounting the entire history of the castle, the roles it played in a local and regional sociopolitical context, and the sorts of people who lived and worked in it. An important thing to note about Turku Castle that's different from some other fortifications I've visited is that there is a LOT of it, the layout is linear with two circuits (Medieval and Renaissance), and you will be going up and down stairs for all of it. Pencil in at least a full day to go through it or else you'll find yourself rushing towards the end. In hindsight I'd almost recommend going through it in two visits (or at least one visit broken up by a refreshment recharge), one for the medieval portion and one for the Renaissance portion. In terms of language barriers: as long as you can speak and/or read one of the languages you'd expect to see in the region (plus English) there is no real language barrier.

Turku Cathedral, located in Turku, Finland, is a significant Lutheran church that has been restored following a fire in 1827. The cathedral features impressive frescoes, royal tombs, and a religious museum. Together with attractions like Turku Castle and the Old Great Square, the city offers diverse tourist experiences ranging from historical immersion at museums to vibrant cultural events.
Most old cathedral in Turku, maybe in the whole Finland. The inner structure is truly beautiful. You kinda feel calm and at peace upon entering. There are programs on special days. Also, many gathering and programs happens in the surrounding areas. A must-visit place if you come to Turku.

A must see! Super fascinating church. Just looking at the outside and seeing how piecemeal it is, your mind races with curiosity at how it ended up being built like that and how it has been able to withstand hundreds of years! The free museum inside was far more than I expected. The relics they have in their collection go back to the middle ages.

A 13th-century Catholic church on the banks of the Aura River. Its historical texture has been preserved. Inside, the church is constantly ringing.

Cathedral is great. I liked its clock as well, each 15 min sounds pretty good.

One of the oldest church in Finland, 700 years old. Historical architecture and serene and peaceful place around the church premises. Visitors are not allowed to walk inside church when any event or concert is going on. A very good place to visit in Turku
Churchill J — Google review
We visited this beautiful old church, which has been part of the community for many years and serves as a peaceful place of worship for locals and visitors alike. Although it was closed when we arrived, the kind caretaker allowed us to enter. The church’s quiet atmosphere, simple yet graceful architecture, and sense of history made it truly special. We took a moment to pray — it was the first church where my boyfriend and I prayed together.

Aboa Vetus Ars Nova is a unique museum in Turku, Finland that offers visitors the chance to explore both medieval history and contemporary art. The museum is housed in a former palace and features underground archaeological ruins from Finland's medieval past. The contemporary art section, Ars Nova, showcases stimulating works from international contemporary artists like Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and David Hockney, as well as Finnish artists such as Jan-Erik Andersson and Matti Kujasalo.
Our children's favorite museum! A museum that combines the history of Turku, the remains of which are discovered underground, with modern culture and art (Contemporary art exhibitions change from time to time ) The historical museum is experiential and interactive and suitable for children. At the entrance is a pleasant cafe-restaurant and a museum shop. מומלץ מאד!!!

My nr one fav place in Turku. Must visit. I've been visiting for dozen times! Oöd Turku exhibition and modern art exhibition under the same roof.
Jari M — Google review
Clean and well maintained museum. I was skeptical it was worth the time and entrance fee but I’m glad we went in! They make piles of old rocks and bricks interesting! Be sure to use the audio guides or it’s just rubble. About 45 minutes is enough time, maybe an hour if you like to read everything. Did not do the Art exhibit add-on because there wasn’t one while we were there.
Don K — Google review
Beautiful museum showing the town that was below the current city of Turku. The museum is modern in construction. They also have a gallery with a contemporary artist.

Really nice combination of Art gallery and Archeological museum. The entire building is built on top of an excavation of medieval dwellings with artifacts dating from the 16th century. I think this is a top place to visit when in Turku

Luostarinmäki Open-Air Museum is a unique attraction in Turku, Finland, as it is the only part of the city that survived the destructive fire of 1827. The museum consists of original 18th- and early 19th-century buildings and workshops where visitors can explore Finnish arts and crafts.
If you want to get sneak peak of what life used to be for the average worker and family this is the place. Wonderful that it has been preserved for us to experience. Many authentic professions nicely presented, friendly staff ready help and explain if you have questions, tranquil surroundings, area for kids to play, museum shop, cafe, ... It is easy to spend hours here if you are interested in history!
Wiley C — Google review
Really interesting museum however we visited over Easter and lot of the buildings were closed. However they didn’t tell us until after we paid for our ticket. And the tickets were full price which we felt was a bit unfair. Would be nicer to have seen more museum staff in the buildings to explain or guide.
Baking B — Google review
Nice outdoor museum that displays an old part of Turku as it was ~200 years ago. Buildings are still original, inside them there are many different types of tools and machinery for traditional craftsmanship. Some are even in use today and operated by the museum staff. This place is really worth a visit.
Maximilian S — Google review
In this museum, you not only learn a great deal about Finnish culture and history, but you can also try everything yourself and buy interesting handicrafts. We were very lucky to have a private tour; our guide, a wonderful history student, told us fascinating stories about this district and Turku.
Marina M — Google review
Fascinating open air museum. The only surviving original wooden houses in the old town area of Turku. Each house has information about the former inhabitants and their occupations.
Dave R — Google review
A lovely and immersive open-air museum experience. Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum is easy to find and easy to navigate once you're there. The layout feels open and inviting, and the combination of well-preserved houses and thoughtfully written information really helps you imagine what life might have been like in different historical periods. We visited in summer, but I imagine it's just as atmospheric during other seasons – the surroundings and interiors give you a good sense of life across the year. There are toilets, lockers, a shop and a café, and we also appreciated being able to buy both hot and cold drinks as well as pastries in the outdoor area. Museum guides were placed strategically around the site, and added depth and warmth to the experience with their knowledge and friendly presence. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience a living slice of Finnish history in the heart of Turku. Also, the ticket is valid all day, so you can visit the museum several times during the day.

Nestled along the picturesque Aura River in Turku, Finland, Forum Marinum stands as a captivating tribute to the nation’s rich maritime heritage. This vibrant museum center showcases an impressive array of historic tall ships and Finnish naval vessels, making it a haven for those fascinated by seafaring history. Visitors can delve into engaging exhibitions that highlight the evolution of shipbuilding and navigation in Finland while also learning about the vital roles played by rescuers and customs officers at sea.
A vast museum desicated to maritime topics in Finland. At least 5 boats/ships to see and 2 buildings full of displays. Despite the fact that they have the Plugit chargers on the parking lot there is no possibility to charge a car there as they are in private use. Even if thereare no signs about it.
Juho Ä — Google review
We just had a couple of hours left for the visit, so we bought the tickets to visit two vessels. We chose the two warships and it was really worth it. You can walk through them freely, explore the decks and interiors, and really get a sense of what life was like on board. There are a lot of information panels inside. Even without seeing the rest of the museum, it felt like a unique experience.

haven't been in the museum itself, but outside as well as the free boat museum. really nice scenery and café. well renovated buildings.

We visited 4 ships (two battle ships, one luxury hotel ship and one big sailboat, used by the Marine). By the end of the third hour we felt ourselves totally exhausted. Very interesting, informative, but to climb up and down in and on the ships is really tireing. Many many information and stairs. In my oponion this is simple too much. Finally we had no any power to visit the Visitor Center itself.

Nestled along the picturesque banks of the Aura River, the Pharmacy Museum and Qwensel House offer a delightful glimpse into Turku's rich history. The Qwensel House, dating back to the early 1700s, stands as the oldest wooden structure in the city. This beautifully preserved bourgeois home showcases stunning Gustavian and Rococo interiors that transport visitors back in time. Within its charming walls lies the Pharmacy Museum, which reveals fascinating insights into medicinal practices from centuries past.
A beautiful and fascinating historical museum located inside the historic Turku pharmacy building and the home of the old pharmacist family. This is an opportunity to enter a chapter in local history. The exhibitions and activities at the place change throughout the year according to the holidays. There is a cafe in the complex that is the most authentic and with the most delicious cakes in the city! The museum is accessible and adapted for children who can see, smell, and touch the history of science. During the holidays there are lovely activities for the whole family. For us, it has become a place to visit whenever the children want to feel like they are in Diagon Alley in the magical world of spells and potions of Harry Potter... 🗝🧙‍♂️👳‍♀️🪔🔮🫕🕯🧝‍♂️🧙‍♀️🪄✨️✨️

An absolutely wonderful museum. Like many have mentioned below, the staff dressed up in period clothing around the museum gave it an extra charming feel. We were so lucky to be there where a guide was available to us in English! The guide was wonderful and knowledgeable, she gave us an amazing tour around the museum and answered our many questions. Our teenager son also said he had a wonderful time (you know, it’s a tough age group to please these days!) Highly recommend for a visit!

Amazing history behind this museum! I learned a lot from it. You could smell how old the building is. Its quite cool that they have a lot of the original stuff. I don't wanna ruin it to anyone by posting photos but I do recommend visiting this museum. It's also 7€ for an entry ticket! Very affordable. There's also a cafe to sit and grab a bite.
Sally A — Google review
Very much interesting museum, which -in fact- never was a pharmacy, but the house of more gentry family during the years. At least one of the owner was a medical doctor in 19th Century, so there is some health-link between the owners and the pharmacy museum. :-) In one of the rooms there is a very impressive exhibition about mercury mining and the use of mercury in Turku, incl. the health issues caused by the dangerous metal. After the visit you may dring a tea in a very moody Tea House within the musum complex.

Theme park
Jukupark in Finland is a perfect spot to make the most of the short summertime. With three pools and nine slides, it offers a day full of fun activities. While some caution about potential discomfort on certain slides, overall, visitors find the park amazing. It's noted that children may not enjoy windy and cold weather, but when it's hot, Jukupark becomes an ideal place for relaxation and enjoyment.
Excellent water park! Perfect for kids in the 5-8 range. All the slides are closely located, and there's good activities for the younger ones, which is usually not the case. All slides apart from 1 or 2 are 120cm limit, which makes it fun for 7-8 yrs olds. There's also soft play/bouncy castle activities to mix it up. Reasonably priced food options

The best water park in Turku, offers numerous attractions, including water slides, basketball, sauna, floorball, and baseball. It is worth both your time and money. Online booking tickets are cheaper than purchasing them in person.

It was a hot summer day, and we had to wait for about 20 minutes in the blazing sun. My two boys (5 and 12) and I thought it would be worth it. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed. Despite the hot sun, the weather was far too cold, and even worse: disgustingly dirty, full of dead insects, flies, and other filth. We were so disgusted that we left after about 30 minutes, and I haven't even mentioned the tiny, only, and completely overcrowded pool where you could have swum. Never again.
Alpha — Google review
This outdoor pool park blew our mind, yes you pay 25 euro per person but all the slides and things to do does make it a great place to go. Enough beach beds to go around. One advice is that be careful with Google maps, it directed us one parking space to early where you can only park your car for free for 2 hours, really drive to the main entrance and there you can park for 8 hours for free. The tex mex buffet restaurant has really tasty things to choose from. Be aware on rainy days, there are not many tables inside.

Nestled in the heart of Turku, the Turku Art Museum is a stunning architectural gem designed by the esteemed Finnish architect Professor Gustaf Nystrom. Established in 1904, this museum boasts an impressive collection of over 6,000 artworks that span from Finland's Golden Age (1870-1920) to contemporary pieces in surrealism and pop art.
Housed in a beautifully designed early 20th century building, the Turku Art museum has a great collection of artworks from the late 19th and 20th centuries, surrealism and pop art. The cafe at the museum offers a cozy atmosphere to grab a bite, and a terrace with great views if you wish to sit outside.

It's a pure scam, do not visit it, almost no classical paintings, only modern "art" this is the worst museum I have seen in my life. There is only a little room with classical paintings, I wanted to see Väinämöinen defending the Sampo painting. All I saw was an awful modern joke for 8€ per person. This is a pure scam, I hope it gets closed soon. The worst experience I ever had in Finland

Nice and relatively big park. Ideal to walk your dog, have a picnic with friends or simply chill out on the park bench. Visiting you should remember to take a moment to see St. Henry's Spring, where first pagan Finns were baptised in 1155. In the park are also open gym (free), swimming pool, several sports fields, and a big sports hall.

The Turku Market Hall is a charming brick and wood building dating back to the late 19th century. It has been transformed into a vibrant gourmet food hall, offering a mix of traditional Finnish cuisine and contemporary dining experiences. Despite being one of the oldest buildings in Turku, it has been faithfully renovated to preserve its nostalgic atmosphere. With its wooden stall fronts, original signage, and classic vendors selling meat, fish, and cheese, visiting the market feels like stepping back in time.
Good variation of food. You may choose food from the shelves and then ask them to cook it. There is also a good French corner of your wish to get European food. For Sushi lovers a good spot for Sushi where you can order from a menus. Good value for money

I enjoyed learning about Finland’s diverse ecosystems at the historic museum established in 1907. The museum has an impressive collection of 30 Finnish mammals and 143 bird species that are shown across the 13 displays. I enjoyed seeing the different animals that lived in the wetlands, forest, countryside, wilderness areas in the mountains, seaside and gardens. The information on the displays were also available in English, with a really informative audio guide. This is the first museum that captured my full attention where I absorbed as much information as possible. Hearing the sounds of the animals, seeing videos of their behaviour was very interesting for me.
Shelley S — Google review
It was a really nice and calm museum, with beautiful diaramas. We had indeed a glimpse in the different parts of Finnish nature and it’s different seasons. I really recommend bringing headphones, because there is an audio tour by scanning a QR code that really adds depth. On top of that there are screens to get more information on specific animals, which was really helpful. Especially if you are a bird lover these diaramas will be loved. The facilities are very nice, clean toilet, nice museum shop, little chairs to sit on and friendly service. Had a great time! Ps: don’t skip the extra minitour outside of the museum

The building from outside is beautiful, the place inside is also nice and staff is friendly. We took the buffet for the brunch on Sunday and it was good but nothing exceptional, maybe I had my expectations too high, but overall was good. In my opinion quality-price ratio is medium, somehow overpriced for the buffet, but I guess they sell the location and the reputation the place has. In general I would recommend it.

Churchill J — Google review
Imposing, located North of the city, it seems to want to push its spires towards the sky, almost to balance its solid and massive structure, even more evident by observing the low aisles. The mosaics in the apse are beautiful and at sunset allow reflections of light to filter through.
Alberto L — Google review
Very atmospheric, elegant, beautiful, intricately designed church with nice acoustic. Mishaels church is a distinguished example of the neolithic style in architecture. And is one of the most popular weddings churches in Turku, being able to seat 1800 people. Church was finished in 1905
Mikko T — Google review
Beautiful church with wonderful staff. Note that I came here on a Sunday, and they have mass (in Finnish) at 11am. If you were like me and read that they have organ (instrument) demonstrations at noon, please note that they do not happen in the summer unfortunately. It still is beautiful to look at though. Also note that when you check the doors for entry, try the main entrance first (3 doors) and the middle (2nd) right door (pull) is your best bet. This Church is also a Pokémon Go Gym ;P

Easy to find though check public transport or drive as it is quiet a way from the centre. Don't even try to walk unless you are fit or have a lot of time to kill. Free parking. Good information service. Relaxed cafe. Great facilities. Good for kids - you can also try diving in its separate diving pool. Great saunas - usual no swimming costumes in showers and sauna much the same everywhere in Finnish swimming pools. Viking Line Cargo / Car Check-In offers a unique sea adventure for your car from Turku to Sweden. The process of boarding the cruise ship is transformed into a maritime experience, making it both convenient and scenic. It provides easy entry for various vehicles and offers free roaming on the ship while waiting. Although some passengers suggest clearer signposting, others appreciate the well-maintained schedule and clean cabins. Overall, Viking Line provides a luxurious and comfortable journey for both tourists and truck drivers alike.
It was my first time taking a cruise and it felt great. Wifi is smooth. The room was very clean. The water in the bathroom is hot and strong. Hair dryers are very powerful. The overall look is novel and without any sense of oppression. However, the cruise ship is not big enough and sometimes shakes when driving. Other than that, everything is fine.

Absolutely amazing! US based cruises could learn a lot from this one. The on-boarding and offboarding were the easiest I've ever experienced on any cruise.
Victoria P — Google review
the ferry was "grace" and was fine. The cabin was clean and the bed was good!...we just set the wrong wake up call and we slept 1 hour less than we though :)
Stefano A — Google review
Took the ferry from Turku to Stockholm with my 3.2M tall van (6M long). Booking the ticket was so easy, the app was great for updates, and checkin line to board the ferry was seamless. It was my first time taking my van on a ferry and I am very impressed with the efficiency and the price was very good. I did the daytime ferry which still came with a private room (and shower!). Took off 1 star because the WiFi is utterly useless. It did not work in my room and it did not work in the cafe. By “not work” I mean it was on and active but took 5+ minutes to load a simple webpage. One of the reasons I took the ferry was so that I could use my laptop during the trip rather than driving. Viking Glory was the ship.

Outdoor swimming pool
Samppalinna Outdoor Swimming Stadium is a popular spot located on top of a steep hill, offering swimmers a stunning view of the city. It features a large pool and a separate one for children, along with a diving tower for thrill-seekers. The facility provides various pool areas for different activities such as regular swimming, water running, and jumping into the pool. There's also an area dedicated to kids and families.
It's lovely place for so much fun

Its Kinda boring there but I liked it but the food was so overpriced and The water in the big pool was kinda cold and at the kids pool u saw some bugs and bees in the water
Molly N — Google review
Affordable long course pool, friendly staff, pool rules were clear, outdoor cafe on the pool deck, cool tech RFID watch to access facilities and lock/unlock the lockers.
Michael A — Google review
Nice place to hang out with the kids 😊👌🏼
Stina N — Google review
Great place to swim especially during the times when there arent that much people (6-8 am & evening). There are sometimes men who spit to the water after swimming, maybe need some education on that? The pool could be open for longer period in autumn. The candle swimming events are nice.
S K — Google review
Cheap, but clean and spacious place to sunbathe and/or go swimming. There are different pool areas, one for regular swimming (slow, normal and fast lanes) and one for water running. Also a corner is isolated for jumping in to the pool. Jump towers open up with steady intervals, which eats away two swimming lanes for the duration that it's open. There is also a pool area for kids/families. Cafe/snackshop is also open in the pool area. Shower/sauna is included and lockers which operate with the bracelet that you receive when paying.
Heikki P — Google review
50m pool, jump tower, plenty of equipment to borrow for free, kids pool, not that crowded, right by the Aurajoki in the city centre would recommend anyone visiting if good weather is promised, after the kids have exhausted the energy, why not go for a drink or eat at the city centre or the river.
J M — Google review
Generally very crowded cause there's just one pool, which I'll say that they manage quite well by separating it into different sections dedicated to different activities. The springboard is real fun.

Museum
The Sibeliusmuseum is a must-visit for music enthusiasts, being the only museum in Finland entirely dedicated to music. It boasts an extensive collection of around 350 musical instruments from across Finland and memorabilia of the renowned Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. The building itself is a fascinating creation with its unique design by Woldemar Baeckman. Visitors can explore a room dedicated to Jean Sibelius and over two thousand instruments from around the world.
An experiential music complex that presents the past and flirts with the future. Located in a beautiful Brutalist building, and includes a wonderful performance space, at the edge of which there are musical instruments for display and experience. Instead of additional spaces with changing exhibitions, very enjoyable for children and adults.
Einat F — Google review
A worthwhile experience, but it needs a spot of curatorial TLC. As others have noted, the information about Sibelius himself is not exhaustive and I would have expected it to be in a museum dedicated to him. I appreciated the information on his contemporaries, but it needs to be in the context of their influence/impact on Sibelius. The interps panels are great, but sadly those in the performance space had no English. And the interps for the instruments in the basements is minimal (and thus disappointing). I was impressed with the interactive components of the museum.
Steve K — Google review
The Sibelius Museum offers a unique experience for music lovers.

Architecture and the interior of this place is so beautiful. I highly recommend a visit,
Hal M — Google review
We were surprised by how underwhelming this museum was considering Sibelius' fame. The museum has maybe 10 small infographics about him, and the rest is a collection of old instruments which, although nice, are not what we were expecting.
Gabriel C — Google review
Incredible experience. Lots of instruments to play and learn about, interesting History and listening experience of not only Sibelius. Highly recommend.
Pepe J — Google review
Visited it on Aug 7, 2022. It is rather small building, includes a square hall surrounded by 4 corridors for exhibition. The exhibition was rather limited. All the interesting photos you seen by other reviews (heart violin, all flutes, round shaped harp?) was not shown there. The ticket man replied that they have exchanged for other items but nothing more shown. They merely have a small floor downstairs with a variety of old pianos. Not recommended considering the 7€ price, many better options available.
Bo J — Google review
Smaller than a typical Finnish museum. However there are many instruments to play. Also in the underground there is a large collection of pianos.

Gardens
The Botanic Garden of University of Turku is a stunning attraction that houses over 5000 plant species, including succulents, tropical plants, roses, medicinal and edible plants, and rock plants. The outdoor garden is particularly beautiful in the summer and offers a variety of walking trails, lakes, and charming bridges. Visitors can explore the greenhouses for a fee or enjoy the outdoor area for free.
A nice little place to visit with the kids! It was great to explore and explain the different plants and flowers. Since we visited in winter, we only explored the indoor areas, as most of the outdoor spaces were covered in snow. Still, we really enjoyed our visit! Thanks for a lovely experience!
Wayne B — Google review
Very-very beautiful, well maintained park. Not too far from the main entrance you find a tropical greenhouse. There is entry fee, while the "rest" of the park is free of charge. For me the most impressive part was the garden of vegetables. This is separated by a fence vs. the rabbits and other plant-eater animals, even I met a little vole... Parking is not easy in front of the main entrance -relatively small, but 300 m far there is a really huge parking place. Very worthy excursion!
Kollár E — Google review
Beautiful place, plenty of areas to walk or just sit & enjoy the peace.

Hidden gem of Turku. Must be felt. (Even Cafeteria's grumpy reception will not affect my stars. It's a different company most probably)
Julia I — Google review
Very nice gardens inside and outside. I came in November so the outside wasn't quite blooming, but I still saw plenty of colors, and the walk was very peaceful. The greenhouse has a cool architectural design and the assortment of flora is extensive. If you're driving down the archipelago, I highly recommend stopping by.
Herman S — Google review
Visit this place to enjoy flora from all around the world. A great place for everyone to learn about different varieties of plants, shrubs and trees. Place is easily accessible on wheelchair and strollers as well. Has a nice cafe with both indoor and outdoor sitting. One can enjoy the outside area of the botanical garden for free. There is walking trail, lakes and cute bridges. It is just so colourful in summer.
Nikita — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking, even in the winter. The outdoor garden is way prettier in the summer, but the greenhouses are always worth the visit. The garden is easy to travel through and the plants are interesting. The information given about the plants all around is pretty deep and you can always learn something new when you visit, and it's not that expensive. 100% would recommend for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Immerse yourself in the rural charm of Finland at Kuralan Kylämäki, also known as Kylämäki Village of Living History. Located just a few kilometers from Turku's city center, this open-air museum offers a glimpse into village life dating back to the 1940s and 1950s. The recreated village features costume actors portraying post-war era activities, while a working farm with chickens, sheep, and cows adds to the authentic atmosphere.
Beautiful place to hang around with friends and family. Picturesque view of a village and old Finnish houses.
Jolly T — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful place a vital part of Finnish history.
Indra H — Google review
Come here if you have a car, or a bike, and have nothing else to do. This place is well maintained, but it is quite far from the city centre and you can see this type of buildings while being in some cottage in the countryside. The only pearl (imho) is the main house - beautifully decorated with historic vibes.
Stay_c C — Google review
Kuralan Kylämäki is blooming now. Summer events have started and animals are finally outdoors. Visit this place to learn about farm life, farm animals and to see the picturesque countryside. There is a small restaurant and (WC) washroom facilities along with seating arrangements in the area.

Kurala Kylämäki (Swedish: Kurala bybacke) is a museum and cultural recreation area owned by the City of Turku, which maintains the rural environment with its buildings, gardens, meadows and fields in the 1940s and 1950s. Kurala village hill in 2004. The village has four farms - Iso-Rasi, Vähä-Rasi, Iso-Kohmo and Vähä-Kohmo - and their 26 buildings. The area is protected by the Ancient Monuments Act in 1980, and the buildings in the town plan in 1984. The village of Kurala belongs to the Aura River National Landscape and Turku National Park, and is one of the nationally significant built cultural environments defined by the National Board of Antiquities. Among other things, the handicrafts and working methods that have shaped the village's current traditional landscape are maintained. The buildings of Iso-Kohmo in the middle of the hill have been chosen as the core of the farm. In the experimental workshop, handicrafts are widely maintained from ancient techniques to art workshops. Involving the public and passing on handicrafts from one generation to the next is a key objective.
