Ski & Snowboard Areas
Speikboden is an 8,258-ft. mountain that offers a wide range of activities throughout the year. In winter, it transforms into a snowy paradise for skiing and snowboarding at the Speikboden and Klausberg ski resorts. During summertime, visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, and paragliding with stunning panoramic views from the ridge accessed by taking the gondola up to Speikboden Alm.
Great views and incredible nature! Enjoyable summertime and wintertime. You can reach the start of the Speikboden lifts via car or preferably via bus from nearby towns. Prices are still lower than for the larger ski areas. Kids area, restaurants, ski and equipment rent.

What a gorgeous mountain region! I do appreciate the Tour we made, well-constructive trails, beautiful scenery, no stress from massive crowd, several different levels of hiking trails available. We enjoyed The rolling mountains cover with early snow surround the green valley and clear blue sky above that is so surreal! The truth nature is supposed like it without man-made ingredient. There are some hiking trails we could choose but for the sudden snow fall and my physical weakness therefore the shortest and easiest trail - Zirbenweg is our best choice. Ö
Angela M — Google review
Summer review: amazing views from the panoramic trail, very well marked too, but no water/fountains in the whole area and all the huts sell half a liter for 3 euro (which is about double the standard cost)
Barbara B — Google review
We have been to Speikboden two times now and really love it. The ski instructors are so knowledgeable and fantastic. We skied with Doris this year and the other year with Charly. They improved our skiing so dramatically. I would say the instruction is some of the best instruction for any sport I have done in my life and I have taken extensive riding and swimming instruction. This is a very family- and kids- friendly ski resort with a variety of terrain and great food options. We love skiing down to Mittlestation which is a traditional "hut" or large cabin. The food is incredibly good, especially their pasta with ragu in a pan and rosti, which is grilled potatoes in butter with two eggs and parma ham on top. For the holiday season this year they had a huge snow castle and giant igloos you can go into and have drinks. Also we rented sleds and you can ski down from the top of "Speiky-way" all the way to the village 7 km below then take the public bus with your pass back to the ski resort. So much fun.
Karen Z — Google review
Granted in summer the views are great and true hikers will enjoy the trails that follow the high ridges from peak to peak. But if you're coming here with kids expecting lots of activities like Plose or Klausberg you'll be dissapointed. Besides a small playground, mini hay jump and neglected petting zoo (where baby rabbits are manhandled by overeager children) there's not much to do and considering the price of the lift ticket you're better off at the above mentioned destinations where you can go-kart down a mountain or enjoy a hair raising bob-run. Enjoy the journey!

Historical landmark
Taufers Castle, located in the picturesque municipality of Sand in Taufers in the Ahrntal valley, is a grand medieval fortress perched on a hill. The castle offers guided tours that showcase its elaborate frescoes, furnishings, and rich history. Surrounded by a nature park and towering peaks, the castle provides scenic views of the stunning mountain scenery.
Really cool medieval castle full of history, scenic views, and relics. We happened to show up right before the start of a tour. The tours are only offered in German and Italian. We grouped up with the Italian your being that we speak Spanish. They do give you an English handout which has some of the tour details. Most of the tour info is included in the handout. Regardless, our tour guide took the time to give us some tidbits in English during the tour. We were grateful to have Margarita as our guide. This place was super cool with so many things to see. Unfortunately for us, it was closing time right after our tour. Make sure you come a bit early to be able to see the rest of the exhibitions and visit the gift shop. And lastly, don't forget to leave a tip at the end of the tour. Enjoy y'all!
Marco G — Google review
Nice... one of the 400 castles in South Tyrol. Visitable with guided tours in german or italian. Big but not sup big castle yet the tour takes you through 20 rooms and displays castle life fom the middle ages to 1800s. Cool. Tip a car parking is situated next to cadtle yet to find you will have to drive a bit further on the main road
DJ N — Google review
Really cool medieval castle with informational plaques in German, Italian, and English. Guided tours are on the hour in German and Italian and are the only way to go into the rooms. If you choose the courtyard tour (€7), you still get a very cool experience walking up the tower and see great views of the valley. Definitely worth checking out if you have an hour or so! The walk from the bus station felt more like a hike and there’s construction on the roads currently (may 2024) forcing us to walk on gravel and mud.
Mikaela M — Google review
The guided tour is definitely worth it!
Pavel — Google review
Great small Castle to visit. Park your car in town, enjoy the walk to the castle and join a guided tour. The castle might not be as big as others, but the guided tour and the well equipped rooms (original furniture, books, etc.) make it worth while. Take your time exploring the castle, some areas are not part of the guided tour, but still accessible, such as the tower, the garden, kitchen and the old ice cellar. Afterwards there is a small restaurant nearby, where you can enjoy a good meal and a perfect view over the Ahrntal region.
T. H — Google review
1hour tour with a great guide (It, Ger, Eng), check the opening hours first, many websites are incorrect as Google. Also dont trust googlemaps with 15min walk from downtown Campo Tures, as the road is quite steep once oit of the town. That said add 10mins for quick walk or 15mins for sights. Or take a car just bellow the castle with 90min free parking. The castle dates back to 12th century with lots of remodeling but keeps its stone look. On the tour you will get to see about 10chambers, courtyard, tower, catwalk. Well kept wooden interiors, amazing library and decorations. Nice views to the valley. Good way to spend 90min walking trip once in the region. Review of 4stars as 5stars belong to Ducal Palace in Venice :) enjoy. 10€ adult
Martin K — Google review
Small castle is worth visiting only with the guided tour, which occurs more or less hourly, so there's usually a good chance to catch one. Price for visit+tour is fair. Currently, there are a few expositions which can be seen without a guide.
Massimo R — Google review
Lovely little castle. Well worth a visit if in the area. Information regarding parking is not clear. There is free parking at the castle. Dogs are welcome in the courtyard and sounding area but not inside for the guided tour. Kennels are available for free but are very small.

In the summer, it features a Family Park with dinosaurs and seven landscape slides starting at the 2,000-meter mark. Visitors can enjoy attractions such as the Kids Pirate's Rock Speikboden via ferrata, zip-line, alpine coaster, and a dinosaur route.
Good hikes with views, followed by an afternoon at the waterpark was just perfect for the whole family. Great way to spend a day.

(Translated by Google) The playground is free only if you decide to walk there (5.4 km one way). Alternatively, a convenient cable car (though a bit pricey, especially for families) takes you to this wonderful park. It offers many games and attractions, including a zipline and a highly recommended Fun Bob. The landscape is truly beautiful and well-maintained, and it's truly fairytale-like. Highly recommended! (Translated by Google) A very beautiful public park, ideal for children. Easily accessible by cable car (expensive) or, alternatively, by a long walk from the village of Cadipietra. I recommend bringing a rain jacket and, for children, a swimsuit. Warning: if it starts raining after spending a good part of the day at the Family Park, rush to take the cable car! Otherwise, as happened to me, you'll find it closed due to bad weather and will have to wait until the storm passes or in the evening after 5:00 PM. Besides the wait, you should also consider that you won't be the only one descending after the storm, nor will you have to take the bus (if you're traveling by public transportation) once you reach Cadipietra.

Fly-Line Wasserfall is a thrilling activity suitable for families and individuals alike. The starting point, slightly elevated above the third waterfall, offers a diverse route through the forest with narrow and wide curves alongside the cascades. After a 30-minute climb, participants can glide down through trees and past the waterfalls at a leisurely pace, allowing ample time to appreciate the surroundings. This summer or early autumn adventure is perfect for all ages.
This is one of the most fun things to do in this area. During the walk to the starting point of the fly-line you pass 3 beautiful waterfalls, the next one more beautiful than the first one. The last one is the most impressive. After your climb, which takes about 30 min, you can fly down again trough the trees and past the waterfalls (€12 per person, only cash). The fly-line isn’t very fast so you have enough time to enjoy your surroundings. You can park near the Rivas Wasserfallbar (paid) and at the bar follow the most left path (see arrow). The signs at the start are not clear, when you start the walk they are easy to follow.

I started with a walk up the mountain (about 45 minutes) along the Cascate di Riva. Amazing! Then with the fly-line down to almost the beginning of the trail. Was lovely to go down through the trees. I would recommend this activity (unless you have back problems)

Such a fun adventure! We were able to park in the small lot by the cafe and hike up to the starting point. Great signage and directions to get to the starting point!
Alysen W — Google review
Highly recommended for all ages! Long and slow trip (about 5.5 minutes). Children can be with their parents. Costs 11 euro per adult, 10 per senior (above 60) You can buy a photo of yourself for another 5 euros (something like that). If you don't have cash, you can pay with credit card at the end of the zipline
Gilad S — Google review
Lovely experience! Enjoyed it a lot and would do it again! 9€ (adults) / 7€ (kids until 14) and around 5mins flying in the forest next to waterfalls... Must do if you are here.
Irina G — Google review
Was a great experience , the omega itself is about 6-10 min, was very fun and the price is fair
יובל ש — Google review
It was a life experience. (You have to climb about 30min to reach the starting point, not a hard trip)
AttilA B — Google review
Young or old, the fly line at the waterfalls is the perfect activity for everyone in the summer months or in early autumn. We enjoyed the hike around the waterfalls leading to the Flyline. Queuing was uncomplicated but please have patience and the price was in line what you would expect; credit cards were accepted. The views coming down throughout the forest were wonderful. Souvenirs and photos are available at the end of the fly line. Car parking and toilets are easily accessible however I would avoid the Bar to have some snacks as the prices are just absurd.
