City park
Pioneer Park, established in 1902, is the oldest park in Walla Walla and spans 46 acres. Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, known as the father of landscape architecture and designer of New York City's Central Park, it offers a peaceful escape with its picturesque walking paths, an aviary, a duck pond, ball fields, and flower gardens. Visitors can relax under large trees or enjoy activities like soccer, softball, pickleball courts, and table tennis.
This is a large scenic park that will not disappoint. There are picnic tables, playground, lots of trees, nature, and serenity. It is peaceful. The park is well maintained. Let's all do our part to keep it beautiful.

Loved being able to just be outside and be in nature exploring and walking. What a great park for picnicking, walking, or even playing on the playground. Would definitely try and begin water as it does get hot and not certian if the water fountains are always on. There's sometimes in the summer some ice-cream truck that come by and sell ice-cream.
Nathan C — Google review
Free public park with a variety of treasures. The madrone trees are huge. There is a pond with turtles, an aviary with exotic birds and a large tortoise and a memorial rose garden. A few picnic tables are available. If you’re looking for a mini-break to stretch your legs and mind, this is it.
Xx X — Google review
I have always loved this park. It has free parking and a bird aviary. Lots of places to walk and beautiful scenery. I wish ever town had a park this lovely.
Emily H — Google review
Gorgeous! So many amazing trees. They're so huge! Definitely worth stopping and seeing. Have your lunch at one of the picnic tables or on a blanket.
Gabrielle J — Google review
Great park to work out (pickle ball, jump rope, part of an overall run ). The aviary is also really interesting and the grounds are beautiful.
Matthew R — Google review
I just stopped in at this park after not having been here in about 20 years or so. I was so impressed with the updates! There’s even an Aviary now. The old gazebo is still there and looks like it’s had plenty of repair and attention. The grass, trees, flowers, etc… all look very well maintained. I ate my lunch at a picnic table that has seen better days, so perhaps it’s time to replace them. But other than that, I am very happy to say this park is fantastic! Better than it was back in the Late 90s and early 00s.
- - — Google review
At first, it looked like a well cared for park, but then i saw the aviary. So many birds and it was clear that they get attention and love. I will be coming back here! Other than the birds, the trees all look very old, which is rare for a park. There are 6 or so really ancient trees that all encircled a large gazebo. I can easily see weddings taking place here. Additionally, there are various flower patches and art installations around. Very nicely put together park.

Museum
History Museums
Nestled within the expansive Fort Walla Walla Park, the Fort Walla Walla Museum is a captivating destination that offers a glimpse into the rich history of the United States Army fort. The museum's 15-acre site features four exhibit halls showcasing an array of military weapons, artifacts, antique vehicles, firefighting equipment, agricultural tools, and textiles. Additionally, visitors can explore a 17-building pioneer village and enjoy engaging living history performances and children's programs.
You can tell a lot of time and effort has been put into this museum to make it a great experience for all ages. Multiple buildings to explore, as well as outside areas. Great place to take children, and adults alike, to learn history of the area and what it was like living and working in the 1800s. Friendly and knowledgeable employees/volunteers. Impressive displays with period photography and items, to go along with explanations of it all. Check calendars of events for special things going on, including scavenger hunts and speakers. Great gift shop as well.
Omorfo M — Google review
One of the best museums I have been to. Very very simple but interesting ,even for kids. Its well maintained and not boring at all. Has lot of history ,very nice displays and yet not tiring. The kids loved the scavenger hunt ! Nice playgrounds for kids to have fun just incase they get bored. Wish they had a small cafeteria kind of place too 😊
Vinti B — Google review
It was well done. The main lodge is very nicely decorated and easy to navigate. They have some nice displays of frontier life. There are five or six other buildings with full sized horses (plastic but nicely painted) pulling plows and other farm machinery. Then there are old buildings moved to the site and restored. There is a playground. Bring a picnic for a nice day out.
Pat R — Google review
I enjoyed this place so much! I love history, especially about the area I live. There are over 20 buildings to see and more artifacts than you can count. It's focus is the history of the Walla Walla area from when the first settlers arrived until the 1960's. The agricultural achievements, interacting with Indian tribes from all over Eastern Washington, to the forming of the original government, it's all here. There are video interactive displays. ( Do the one for the penitentiary!) My favorite part was the Pioneer village. A collection of real buildings that were donated to, and moved to the museum. They are so cool! Hard to imagine living in such small places! I grew up in, and still live in the Pacific Northwest. My dad took me to every museum and dam we could find. I did the same with my daughter. Places like this create lifelong family memories. I highly recommend it. Admission prices are $12 adult. $10 senior or student. $5 kids 6-12. Free kids 5 and under.
Pacific H — Google review
We unexpectedly went on a day that they had a family activity going on. We REALLY had a fun time at their Oregon trail family game day. Free ice cream even.
Jannette M — Google review
Was very impressed with this museum. Had no idea what it was like before visiting. 5 major buildings and many small outdoor historic buildings included with admission. All very nicely done. We thought it was better than the Washington State historical museum in Tacoma. Adjacent to a nice park with trails and good bird watching. Reasonably priced. We're comfortable shoes, lots of walking. Nice gift shop with snacks and souvenirs.
Sharon C — Google review
This museum was absolutely fascinating. It had some amazing exhibits and showcases the history of Walla Walla as a key stop on the Oregon Trail so well. With so many people visiting Walla Walla I was surprised that it wasn’t busy. The lady at reception was so helpful and interesting. Don’t miss it!
David W — Google review
Had an excellent time with my daughter and her fourth grade class. Anita, our guide (docent), led us through the exhibits and gave us background and context for all of the pieces. Everything was clean, the staff in the gift shop was friendly, and there was a lot to see both inside and out. We appreciated the A/C in the main building and the nicely kept grounds outside. The play structure was fun to have as well (although a little full with so many students).

Whitman College, a private liberal arts institution established in 1859, offers an array of majors and minors in the liberal arts and sciences. Notably, it was the first college in the Pacific Northwest to have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter and to mandate comprehensive exams for graduation. The picturesque 117-acre campus features lush lawns, ancient trees, and the famous Lakum Duckum inhabited by beloved ducks.
The quality of education is something, but the quality of the student body is what has changed my life. Specifically, the quality of one student, my partner, who I love dearly. They are so smart! Whitman helped a bit with that, but they were already smart honestly!
Connor F — Google review
During my application process, I experienced unwavering support from Whitman’s community, especially from the current students who played a key role in helping me make my decision. As an international student, I discovered a wealth of resources that eased my transition and made me feel at home. The CCEC has been especially instrumental in guiding me toward opportunities for personal and professional growth. At Whitman, I’ve always felt recognized and included as an individual, making it truly feel like a second home.
Ananya M — Google review
Okay college, not worth the price tag. The academic part is great since the classes are small and they hire great professors. However, I did attend other university after I graduate, and I honestly don't feel a difference. College life is a meh. You get to do a lot of outdoor stuffs. As for Greek life and drinking/partying, you might as well go to a big city for university. In conclusion, for this price tag, go to an Ivy League. Your local state university will do the same.
Lucas L — Google review
I am a current student (class of 2024). I think Whitman has been affordable and given me a high quality education. As a fin-aid/Pell Grant student, Whitman was around the same as my state university (Maine) with higher quality of education. I'm graduating soon with debt way below the national average. Downtown is super close to campus and I can easily walk for coffee, the the bookstore, or to any number of fantastic restaurants. There are tons of events on campus every week, from guest speakers to concerts. There's a club for anything as well. Our campus newspaper, the Whitman Wire, is awesome. I never feel bored. Plus, classes keep me very occupied. Whitman doesn't tend to do busy work. Classes are usually discussion based with an emphasis on writing and speaking. Essays and class discussion posts are a regular occurrence. Professors are very accessible, office hours are required for all instructors. I've been able to get to know my advisor and department very well over the past four years. Campus culture is open and friendly. People hold doors and wave hello to each other between classes. It's easy to meet new people. I've found great life-long friends. Some parties on the weekend but there isn't pressure to go. There of plenty of people more like me who'd rather do something more casual or not drink as often. People here work-hard and really care about doing well, but it's not cut-throat or uber competitive. I'm super grateful for all the support Whitman has given me and I feel prepared to do well post-grad.
Jennifer L — Google review
Whitman is a fantastic liberal arts school with the best professors, small class sizes, a beautiful campus and buildings, and it's in a gorgeous area. As a bonus, Whitman sends many students to top graduate programs in the world in many different fields! My time at Whitman was highlighted by my close relationships with my professors, chances to do scientific research on campus, and the many excellent friendships and connections I made during my time there. I can't recommend Whitman enough as a college to both learn about the world and yourself. Do yourself a favor and seriously consider Whitman as an option for college.
Fred T — Google review
My Whitman degree prepared me for graduate work at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a rewarding career in the civil service. Whitman has very high academic standards and students cooperate to graduate. Access to professors is superb and the student body is bright and hard working. Most students play intramural sports and take advantage of the Outing Program which sponsors outdoor events all over the Pacific Northwest. If you’re looking for an academic challenge with top-notch graduate prospects and a tight-knit and friendly student body, Whitman should be on your short list.
Mark T — Google review
My education and experiences during my time at Whitman were truly life changing. Whitman's innovative Semester in the West program taught me to challenge my own bias and assumptions, to seek out opposing views, to respect diversity of thought, to see the nuances in life and people, and to strive for compromise. Through Whitman's incredibly well run off-campus studies program, I was able to study "Sustainability in Europe" in Copenhagen, Denmark right beside the European Union's environment agency headquarters. While back in Walla Walla, I also had the privilege of taking Bob Carson's environmental field studies course which exposed me to local rural environmental issues in a deeply meaningful way. As a result of my Whitman education, I am committed to doing all I can to 'translate these local, regional, and global experiences into an ethical and meaningful life of purpose." I was truly inspired to read the news about Whitman's new commitment to divest from fossil duels and to bolster their investments in renewable energy and sustainably minded companies. I am forever grateful and indebted to Whitman College. Thank you for believing in me and investing in my education. Very Respectfully, Harrison Wills Whitman College alumni 2013-2016
Harrison W — Google review
I had the worst school experiences of my life at this college. People were very mean and judgemental and the school itself is overpriced and overrated. You pay around the same tuition as you would pay for Harvard or Yale with about as much distinction as you would get from most accredited colleges. I ended up getting a BS at Capella University for a fraction of the cost of one year's tuition at Whitman College. If you're concerned with Greek life and drinking, then Whitman College is for you, but if you're concerned with getting your money's worth from a university, then avoid Whitman college at all costs.

The Maple Counter Cafe is a charming, family-run eatery that offers gourmet breakfasts and light lunches alongside a selection of craft beers and local wines. With three generations of restaurant expertise, the Nagier family uses locally sourced ingredients to create dishes from scratch, including fresh organic eggs and locally baked bread. The cozy ambiance features homey decor reminiscent of Grandma's kitchen, while the menu boasts buttermilk pancakes and souffle-like apple pancakes that bring dessert flavors to breakfast.
This place is a zoo, crowded wall to wall with people eating as well as so many people waiting to get in to get seated. I must say this must happen every day because these people handle the lines very well, the lines don’t last as long as they look. We thought by the look of things it was gonna be a two hour away, but we got in within 20 to 25 minutes , which was awesome. We had mimosas which started our day nicely with a great tasting breakfast. They accommodated special requests. The food came in a timely matter, and the quality of taste was fantastic. The staff is very experienced, efficient and nice. If you have a few minutes to wait, I highly recommend this place to have a great breakfast for your long day of wine tasting. I would highly recommend making some reservations so you don’t have to wait.

Me and my wife always love coming here when we visit family! Normally we like to come Sunday mornings before church and make a whole morning out of it! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. You will leave full and have some leftovers for later! This spot is family friendly and their blueberry syrup has won awards! Next time you are in walla walla stop in!
Carter F — Google review
I write this while in the daze of a happy food coma. Arrived at 11:45 am on a Friday and it was busy enough to be bustling but not so busy that it required a wait. I ordered a vegan skillet (It's not on the menu, you gotta ask for the secret vegan options). It was so good. Fresh, seared, local veggies on a bed of skillet potatoes with seasoned tofu and avocado. It was so much food. I only finished a third of it and took a to-go box for the rest. The Peach Bellini was the perfect sipper while waiting. The staff was on point. My server came by frequently and was courteous and gave me a friendly heads up that it requires extra cooking time to keep separate from the meals being cooked in butter. Thank you for the perfect meal to start a day of downtown exploring.
Danni L — Google review
We had breakfast here right around brunch time. The wait was about 30 minutes and the place was packed. Was it worth yet? Absofrickenloutly! Two words...Apple Pancake! Holy gigantic and DELICIOUS! It fed 4 people as a side to our main meals and we still had left overs. I had the corned beef hash as my main. Can't go wrong with that either if you like corned beef. The corned beef was tender, flavorful and plentiful, as were the delicious potatoes the corned beef is bedded on. I also tried the bloody mary which was delightful, though after seeing the whipped cream towered coffee drink the table next to us had, I wished I had more time so I could have tried one of those too. We don't live in or near Walla Walla but I'll be making the trek back as Walla Walla had many wonderful places to enjoy and the Maple Counter Cafe will definitely be on my return list. BTW, they don't take reservations but they do have an online waiting list. Highly recommend doing that.
Debbie D — Google review
This place is busy !! You can check in online and get on the waiting list. They don't take reservations but wait time really isn't that long. We waited 15min. Space is big, they have outdoor seating in the front but also have a back area as well. Paulo was our server and she was amazing! So friendly and she listened. We ordered the eggs Benedict to split so asked for an extra plate and when she brought our food our meals were already split up. We were so impressed with her. Each step of our experience she checked in to ensure we were ok. We had the pancakes and they were so perfect. Coffees are good as well. Place is very clean given how busy it is. It's a must when in Walla Walla!
Reetu P — Google review
The food is always great with a warm experience. My waitress was Yairis and she was so efficient and quick with my food despite it being a busy Sunday. If you go make sure you pick up these bomb Pumpkin Pancakes they’re literally AMAZING😩!

Gesa Power House Theatre is a unique venue housed in a beautifully renovated former utility station, the Walla Walla Gas Plant. The 120-year-old building was transformed into a state-of-the-art performing arts theater inspired by London's Blackfriars Theatre. The theater hosts an array of performances including plays, musicals, dance shows, music concerts, comedy acts, and live cinema recordings. Its Summer Stage program features two musicals with local and regional talent.

Really cool venue! It’s really been modernized in a very cool way.
John H — Google review
We took a group of our clients to this theater for a live showing of a Shakespeare production. What an amazing experience. Not just because for most of us it was the first time we had watched something like this but really it was the atmosphere that made it truly unforgettable and unique. The theater is one of the oldest structures in Walla Walla and it has been restored beautifully. The staff were superb and there were no seats that are bad seats. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who would enjoy this type of evening out.
Travis M — Google review
Beautiful venue, very special and full of character. We recently attended a wedding there with a 20's speakeasy theme and it was perfect for it. Between the main space and old theater in the back, it had an abundance of personality and everyone seemed to have a great time. My only piece of constructive criticism would be around the manager of the venue, who seemed irritated all night and really put out by the entire event. I don't believe this to be true, however, but my suggestion to her would be that a wedding is one of the most special events in a person's life, so perhaps a smile now and again could go a long way. I know that I echo many of the guests' sentiments. Otherwise, highly recommended.

The Children's Museum of Walla Walla is a delightful indoor space designed for children aged 1-10. It features interactive 'playscapes' with various themes such as food, nature, and water, providing an engaging and educational experience for young visitors. The museum offers multiple rooms with unique themes to cater to every child's interests and imagination. Visitors can expect a clean and organized environment with simple rules in place to ensure everyone's enjoyment.
Staff was amazing, the museum itself kept my 3 year old and 6 year old nephews busy for hours. Also the party room is great for the kiddos. Best birthday place in walla walla. The first three pics are pictures from the 6 year old first visit when he was about 18 months old.

A great place for kiddos 1-10 y/o. Multiple rooms with a theme of their own, there is something for everyone! There's plenty of room for your childs imagination to run wild at the Children's Museum, they won't want to leave! They keep this facility incredibly tidy, with simple rules for everyone to follow to help keep things organized for the next groups. No appointment needed! It's $5 per person and children must be under parental supervision during their entire visit. They also have a membership ($100 for a year) that you can sign up for, which also gives you access to all of their events and a discount on renting out the butterfly room for your kiddos birthday party! There's plenty of free parking, as well as one of those "Little Libraries" right outside of the entrance! My 3 y/o loves coming here to play and make new friends! I definitely recommend this place to any and all parents! I'm so greatful that our community has a place like this for our younger children to go. Check it out it you haven't already!

Honestly, I wanted to love it but it just felt dirty/dingy/not well taken care of to me. I was unimpressed. My son literally only really played outside, so I might as well have taken him to the park to climb and play really. Maybe my expectations were just too high. Either way, I attached pictures to give you an idea of what to expect. The rooms were very small. We could hardly fit myself, my son and my mother who used a Walker into the food room. Couldn't fit in the store room. Just smaller than I anticipated.

My girls loved this place. We stayed most of the day, only leaving to eat lunch. Also loved how we could leave and come back for the same price.
Cora C — Google review
The Children’s Museum is actually a pretty fun place! There’s a bunch of hands-on stuff to do, and it’s great for younger kids who like to run around and touch everything. They have cool play areas and little stations that make learning fun without it feeling boring. It’s not super big, but they make good use of the space. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is because some things looked a little worn out, but it’s still a good time and the people working there are really nice.

So much fun for the kids! Lots of rooms to explore! We had a great time with our preschool class!

Bennington Lake is a picturesque man-made lake located just 10 minutes from downtown Walla Walla, offering a perfect opportunity for a morning hike or a relaxing picnic lunch. Surrounded by the rolling hills and the northern Blue Mountains, this scenic spot provides over 20 miles of trails to explore, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
So there isn't really a Bennington lake trail, rather 3 trails you can go on from Bennington lake. Kingfisher, Whitetail and Meadowlark. I did Meadowlark. They are all really great trails. There are a ton of off shoot trails to explore with no chance of getting lost. Lots of hikers, runners, dogs and joggers. This is a great family area. The hike are relatively short and hardly and elevation. I'll be back for sure.

Great place to fish, walk, or have a picnic. Picturesque and beautiful in the spring. Great for kayaking and paddle boarding because no gas motors are allowed on the lake. Has a nice boat ramp so that you can drop your kayak in the water and don't have to walk it up and down.
Rhiannon B — Google review
Great walking area with lots of nice views. Amenities are accessible. Available parking, I see others fish here, I have not yet. A little information spot about the purpose of the lake being made in this spot ( pretty interesting). I have far more to explore for sure 😊
Harmony J — Google review
Nice walking/biking trails. A fair amount of parking. Lake was very, very dry/low when we visited in February 2023. I'm not sure if it's regular for it to go down during the season. But the boat ramp was unusable and blocked off. However, there are all kinds of signs for kayaking and lots of other things. So when the lake is full, I am sure there is water fun. The walking/biking trails are excellent! I was disappointed that there was no water on the lake this time of year. I'll gave to go back later in the year to see what it looks like filled.

Whether you're capturing moments or delving into history, Fort Walla Walla has something for everyone to enjoy.
Saw this and got a pic of it. Sadly didn't do any exploring to find out more. Pics are meant to be shared.

Don't confuse this with the Fort Walla Walla Museum, which is on another property only a 6-minute drive away. That place describes the history of Fort Walla Walla, which closed in 1921. This area is the on the original site, but it is now part of a VA hospital. The buildings are occupied by VA staff and patients. There is no museum here. Some of the buildings are leftover from the original fort.

We came here for our 35th anniversary. The staff went out of their way to make our dinner special and pleasant. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The attention to detail on the dishes was impressive - one of the best meals we had in Walla Walla.

EVERYONE in town recommend this place and I see why. Make sure you get a reservation at least a day prior if you can. Food was so delicious, savory and spectacular! I would definitely recommend this and will be back again.

Making reservations was easy online. This was restaurant was located walking distance to our hotel. We got here early but were seated right away. This place was busy. Didn’t realize they have an upstairs area as well in addition to outdoor seating. We were seated upstairs which was great. Nice ambience and vibe was good not very loud. Henry was our server who was great. We had nut allergies so he helped curate a menu options to cater. We had the chicken breast stuffed with spinach which was delicious. Chicken wasn’t dry. Ahi tuna with the mango salsa was our favorite! It was very flavorful and tuna seared to perfection. Lamb was good and had the right amount of flavor's and so was the halibut. Really nothing disappointing here. Great choice of cocktails and wine options. This place definitely on my list to revisit when in walla walla again.

We had heard great things. We did not have a reservation and were happy to sit at the bar. Very attentive staff. No bread or anything extra pre-meal. My lamb lollipops were delicious, and portion was perfect. My hubbys seafood fettuccine was ok. Most of the seafood was a tad over cooked. Skipped dessert. Not sure we need to go back, but we can check it offf the list. Service A+

Amazing restaurant to celebrate with my wonderful friends! Top of the line chef Jose! 🏆🥇🏆Thank you! Food was phenomenal!
Cindy T — Google review
The drinks were very good. Everyone around us was enjoying the experience as well. The host was a bit weird about us being seated at the bar on our own, without them moving drinks away first. Then another person was asking for a drink and they told him they couldn't serve him at the bar unless he was sitting??? The drinks and dessert are good. The chocolate cake was impossibly rich, but delicious. The whole menu looks fabulous but we only got drinks & sweets. The one bartender got into a big whiskey discussion with someone who wandered in, and stopped working entirely. It was DEFINITELY interesting for people watching, for sure! Overall, good experience, but staff were distracted.

Great service, food and cocktails- pleasantly surprised they had GF pasta, highly recommend making a reservation. They also have upstairs seating.

I ordered the brussel sprout salad always delicious - not tonight - they left out two of the four items that make the infusion of flavor amazing. No bacon or pistachios just left out. Pears replaced by apples perfectly fine for the minor substitute of one item but very overal very disappointed with the salad.

Really delicious pastries and reasonable prices. The pastry display was very beautiful. Sandwiches and salad were great too. There was a big line when we went first thing in the morning, but worth it!

WWBC is good, but not quite great yet. Great space, indoor and outdoor with good location. Prices are not too over the top. Service on the slower side. I went twice, both times for brunch. The egg and herb tartine was outstanding. Delicate flavor and texture. The cappuccino was a little bland, likely poor extraction or bean selection. The margarita pizza the next day was a little too doughy and wet in the middle, as noted by other reviewers as well. The macarons were also a little chewy and bland. The wine served with it had clearly been left out a little too long. But just minor adjustments can really take this spot to the next level. Worth a try, but with tempered expectation.

Oh my goodness there is a reason why the owner/baker/chef was on Food Network! This place is AMAZING! TO DIE FOR! INCREDIBLE! I can’t say enough. The menu is absolutely breath taking and the pastries, food, tea, AND BREAD will have your mouth watering when you leave. Service is friendly and fast! Adorable place for breakfast. The day I went they had 34 different kinds of croissant/Danish! The strawberry and white chocolate ganache one was the winner for me but everything I tasted was great. Fresh press juice and great coffee too!
Liz C — Google review
A true artisan bakery in every sense, from their amazing pastries to the wood fired pizzas. All of the pastries and every loaf of bread is virtually a work of art. We initially thought their breakfast sandwiches were on the expensive side, but the breakfast ciabatta was large with plenty of sausage, egg, and cheese. It filled us both up, and we had to take our pastries to go. Then there are the mimosas. I've never had orange juice literally squeezed into my mimosa glass as I watched before. They were delightful. Highly recommended.

A fabulous breakfast spot in Walla Walla. The coffee and espresso were top notch and the bread was impressive. I’m gluten free and sadly could not join my family in partaking in the scrumptious looking bread-based dishes. However, the kind staff worked to ensure I had a lovely pre-wine tasting breakfast, as well. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting, but be warned, they do get busy!

My husband and I enjoyed wonderful food and great service. He had half a sandwich and a bowl of turkey and quinoa soup. I had a tasty veggie burger on a house made brioche but with "jojo's" - roasted potato wedges. Sadly, we didn't save room for dessert. 😟 So, of course we'll go back.

This place was pretty alright. We really enjoyed the fresh made margaritas. The food was enjoyable and the portions were large. Service was good. Based on my experience... overall we really had a good time and didn't leave disappointed.

If you're a taco enthusiast like me, prepare to be amazed at AK's Mercado in Walla Walla. These are seriously some of the best tacos I've ever had the pleasure of tasting! Chef Andrae's magic lies in his ability to transform simple dishes into gourmet experiences. Each taco I tried was a testament to this culinary skill. The menu, though rooted in simplicity, is elevated by these innovative and delicious twists. The meats deserve a special mention. They are smoked with such care and precision that every bite is a flavorful journey. The smokiness is just right, enhancing the natural flavors of the meat without overpowering them. It’s evident that there's a lot of passion and expertise that goes into this process. But what truly sets AK's Mercado apart is the fusion of BBQ and Mexican cuisine. This combination is nothing short of a culinary marriage made in heaven. The bold, smoky flavors of BBQ seamlessly meld with the fresh, vibrant notes of Mexican ingredients, creating a unique and unforgettable dining experience. AK's Mercado is a must-visit for anyone visiting Walla Walla. The gourmet spin on tacos and the perfect blend of BBQ and Mexican cuisine make it a standout culinary destination.

We had a wonderful lunch today - the Food & Service by Libby was wonderful. We always enjoy the positive atmosphere and fun decor. I usually get the nachos because they have a delicious flavor explosion but today I was feeling the AK’s Burger. It was cooked to perfection and served with fries. Don’t sleep on the caramelized onions and do add the cheese! Phillip enjoyed the Saudero Tacos because they are his favorite! and if you find yourself here and see beignets offered, get them! They are only offered at special times and are AMAZING.

Delicious food. Came on a recommendation, which was worth it. The voodoo fries and brisket taco are amazing. The wings were less of a hit with me, as they are more of a taco sauce coating flavor, but I'd absolutely go back for the fries and tacos.

Phenomenal Tacos. Seriously, so freaking delicious. They are good size as well, so if you buy the 3 for $12, they will leave you satisfied. Staff is super friendly and amazing, as well as the atmosphere. Great way to spend a Saturday Afternoon. I did not like their pastries unfortunately. 8m sorry, I really wanted to like them! It's probably my fault though. I did the $4 desert sampler, thinking I was going to get a small bite size portion of 4 or 5 of their dessert options. Unfortunately, (for me) I got 2 full sized desert options. Both are deserts that don't interest me. So that was just luck of the draw.

Affordable great tasting wines. Must visit if you have limited time in Walla Walla wine country! We bought 4 reds we couldn’t live without, Syrah and Malbec. So nice of them to also give us a cab sav reserve (which went home with us as well). Winemaker Josh McDaniels makes great vino!

Enjoyed ourselves at Dunham today, made it appoint to stop in curious of the Sauv Blanc description we read about on their webpage. It did not disappoint! I’m am strongly preferred drinker of Reds and I’d bought a couple bottles if it would have waved the tasting fee. Sadly it was $22 each which is a great price but to wave the fee was $50 so it sort of tricks you into having to buy a 3rd. That sort of thing can annoy some. Also a big praise to the syrahs.

This is a unique tasting room, with some mighty fine wine, out in the airport district of Walla Walla. They've taken the time to really set up this huge tasting room space in a creative and fun way. We also appreciated the server - she was fantastic. We had a very pleasant visit, early July 2024.

Stayed one night at Dunham Cellars as a Harvest Host guest. Setting up the stay reservation was easy to do. The location is far enough off of the highway to be very quiet, while also close to the airport. The ground is pretty flat and easy to get level. Another perk is the walking proximity to Walla Walla Roasters coffee shop who have great coffee and pastries. Dunham is a great Walla Walla winery. Good wines and a comfortable and spacious tasting room. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Overall, another fun visit. And took home some tasty wines. Cheers!

All-around stellar experience! Leanne (pardon any misspelling!) took such good care of me I made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. You could tell she loves what she does and stands behind the quality produced by Dunham! The wines are great and have a little bit of something for everyone… A white, rosé, plenty of reds… the space itself is also really fun, eclectic but sufficiently cohesive!

Kinda stumbled upon The Airport District and it’s anchor winery, Dunham cellars, on our search for the perfect Syrah. Was delighted by the picturesque grounds and the WWll airplane hanger turned tasting room. So much to take in! Really interesting venue and story. Oh, and the wine! Their Syrah is delicious with the perfect bite of spice! We grabbed a few to add to our collection. Everyone we met here was fun and so knowledgeable. They made our experience very enjoyable. Visitors can enjoy picnics, playgrounds, and open grassy areas while taking in the serene surroundings.
Rook's Park is a great place for picnics or even larger gatherings. We were able to find this alcove with a table and fireplace that was only 50 feet from the parking lot, but very private and quiet. Lots of large open spaces for larger gatherings. It is one of Walla Walla's premier parks, but is east of town a few miles, rather than on the city proper, but worth it. Nice long walking paths along Mill Creek with bridges to cross, as well as around Bennington Lake. Don't miss it!

I was here late in the afternoon for a walk. Honestly, it felt a little unsafe for a single woman walking alone. It’s a beautiful park, but it seems it may be a place for houseless folks to gather. I have no qualms about that, but it felt unsafe for me to be alone or leave my car unattended for a while. There were abandoned vehicles on the road leading to the park entrance. It looked like the park ranger may also be homeless and this is how they stay employed. Again, that’s okay, but ladies, consider coming within a group and earlier in the day. Overall, a beautiful park. It was clean, well manicured landscape.

Picturesque, relatively quiet (early morning) place to take the dogs for an enjoyable hike. Many trails along the creek, to and around the lake. Rooks Park was named for Navy Captain Albert Rooks, the commanding officer of the USS Houston, a heavy cruiser in WW II. It is an Army Corps of Engineers park on the north bank of Mill Creek. It has a resident host during the summer and can be reached by car off Mill Creek Road or by walking on the levees on the sides of Mill Creek. We were there today walking our dogs (on leash) and saw a bald eagle perched high in a Cottonwood above a gaggle of Canadian geese. Lots of ducks there, also some grebes or loons. Kingfisher's there in the warm months. Nice place to visit along gurgling Creek.

There is a fabulous park here with plenty of picnic areas, a large playground and open grassy areas. But the real gem is the long flat trail that goes along the river. It runs on both sides (one is mostly paved and the other not) so you can hike or bike along one side and come back on the other by crossing one of several small pedestrian bridges that cross over the river.

We were lost! If you've not been to Tranche you'll need to make sure to ask how to get to the tasting room. They have TWO addresses. The most common address (705 Berney Dr) will take you to their exit gate. Don't stop there.. keep going up the road until you come upon the entrance. From there the long driveway to the tasting room might make you feel unsure (keep going). There's parking in a field... don't park there unless the parking area at the tasting room is full (or if you want to). The tasting room feels a bit like a wall until you get inside and find a lovely seat out on the patio. Elizabeth was super understanding of our way finding exercise and promptly supplied us with rosé. She was amazing and so fun to talk to. We enjoyed our experience, the views, and the wine.

The Little Theater of Walla Walla, a remarkable venue for productions, has been entertaining audiences since 1944. Their cast members are clever and entertaining, ensuring an enjoyable time for all. While the seating is comfortable enough, it could benefit from some updates such as improved padding and adjusted angles to provide a better view of the stage. In addition to their excellent performances, they also offer pre and post-show beverages.

The Little Theater of Walla Walla stands as a quintessential representation of community theater at its best. Its welcoming atmosphere embraces a diverse range of actors, directors, and artists from various ages and backgrounds, providing them with a platform to display their talents, whether in the spotlight or behind the scenes. Having attended numerous productions at this venue, I can attest to the consistently high-quality performances that never fail to impress. Looking at the 2023 season, the theater delivered even more exciting developments. Notable enhancements include renovated seating for enhanced audience comfort, reduced ticket prices making the arts more accessible, and increased support from community sponsors. These improvements are sure to enrich the theater-going experience and reinforce the Little Theater's role as a cherished cultural hub in Walla Walla.

Tucked away in the historic Pioneer Park, which is Walla Walla's oldest park, lies the delightful Pioneer Park Aviary. This charming aviary showcases a diverse array of birds, from exotic species to familiar local varieties, including both waterfowl and land birds. The recently renovated enclosures provide an engaging environment for visitors of all ages, making it a perfect spot for families looking to learn while having fun.
Most beautiful trees , calm, peaceful and dog friendly! The walk has a great view every turn. There is even a place which has a sorts of birds! I absolutely loved that I could have a picnic and even take a rest before hitting the road again!. The trees were my favorite part, they shaded almost every bit of the park even the tennis courts are nice and cool place to hang out. Just go take a walk at your local park
Rayne A — Google review
Pioneer Park Aviary was well maintained (our visit was Jan 30, 2022), it was somewhat crowded but people mainly did their own thing and parking was reasonable. It was fun walking around to see all the different kinds of birds. We even took some time and fed the squirrels! The more exotic bird species are behind fences with signage giving the bird name and some info on it. Seagulls and Squirrels are everywhere in the open area of the park. Ducks are both in the water and on land. Be mindful of where you step as there is animal waste in both the grass and on the pavement. Photos taken Jan 30, 2022.

A free aviary that's open basically all day, situated in a beautiful park just minutes from downtown shopping in a town that's all about wine? This is a gem! I drove four hours to hang out here for a day and am not disappointed. I'll definitely take another road trip out this way again.

Beautiful, well maintained park. There are picnic areas almost everywhere. The aviary is away from the playground, so you kind of want to plan your day before you get there. We stopped on our way to my parents house (it’s about the halfway point) and ate at the picnic benches by the aviary, checked out the birds, and then headed over to the playground to let the kids run off some steam. They have a huge selection of birds to look at, including some very talkative peacocks and a tortoise. Definitely a beautiful place for a sunny, afternoon, outing.

Beautiful and peaceful. You can go for a walk, picnic, sight seeing, relax,

Very interesting. The animals didn't seem very stimulated. The ducks seemed happy, but the tortoise seemed unhappy. I think he needed a mate. He also didn't have any fresh vegetation. There's the pond for him but his area was flooded and muddy. Maybe he likes it that way. I'm no tortoise expert, I just know they're very social creatures.

I had not patronized here in a long time, my loss, of course. Saturday put me back on the track 🥰 Everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable 🤗 Now, I'll be waiting at the door for them to open this Friday. I need to purchase something for a loved one that is in high demand. I am so grateful for them letting me know that I'll need to park my fanny at the door early, lol. This is where all the cool stuff ran off to. Right here in this store. All together in one place. I was so enthralled I forgot to take pics except of the magnets. But I felt like I was in nerdtopia and that I should be granted a secret door behind the classics shelf that leads to my own cozy private quarters. I'm sad I live in another state.

I've been shopping at this Establishment for over 20 years and I've never had an employee that ignores my attention of needing help with something in the card case at the front counter. This employee ignored me for several minutes even when I was the only one in sight. Every single other employee has always inquired about questions, but this certain employee has ignored me just about every time I've been in. This establishment has always been a 5 star place otherwise.

I visit Walla Walla once or twice a year on business, and I always make a point to stop here. Why? They have a very eclectic selection of books in my preferred genre - scifi/fantasy. More than that, I recently got the best book recommend I've ever gotten from an employee there. Sadly, I did not get her name. I went to the counter and described my favorite genre and authors (Leigh Bardugo, Philip Pullman, David Wong, Lev Grossman, Anne McCaffrey, Tolkein, etc.), and she was able to make a recommendation: The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang (great book by the way). It was exactly what I wanted and I have been very satisfied with my purchase. I wish I could give her a shout-out because everyone should get a book recommend from her. I'm sure from reading this review (if she ever does) she'll remember our interaction, so thank you for your recommendations, unnamed lady! In conclusion, I recommend this bookstore; for both service and selection. I'll be back next year!

Really lovely, scenic, spacious city park in Walla Walla. Had no problem finding a shady tree to sit under for a quick picnic on a gorgeous Friday afternoon. Playground, bathrooms, fields, plenty of parking. Very well cared for! Olympic Otter

Some people dont keep their dogs on leash in a park that requires leashes for dogs. And that dog attacked my dogs while the owner stood there and said, "She doesn't really listen to me". I said, "THATS WHY SHE SHOULD BE ON A LEASH!!!", as I point to the sign that denotes a fine for 1st and 2nd offenders.

Swimming pool
Veterans Memorial Pool in Walla Walla is a fantastic destination for families looking to enjoy a day of fun in the water. This well-maintained facility features swimming lanes, a splash pad, and exciting waterslides that cater to all ages. Kids can delight in the toddler pool and splash area equipped with slides designed just for them, while older children can tackle the larger slides after meeting height requirements.
Kids loved it. Alot of people, but that's to be expected. Friendly staff ALOT of lifeguards which is a plus. Life jackets provided free for the kids and reasonable prices. 18.dollars for myself and three kids.
Kari H — Google review
The pool itself & the facility is nice. The only draw back"S" is: 1.) That there are not enough chairs or umbrellas, if you don't arrive within the 1st 10 minutes, you are stuck in the sun and probably w/o a chair. You are not allowed to bring your own shade either. 2.) The rules state no thongs, street clothes or regular diapers at the pool but what you'll see inside is tons of people in basketball shorts and t-shirts swimming and a few girls in thong swimsuits and kids not in swimmers. If I can't bring an umbrella, I'd assume you can't wear street clothes, diapers, or thongs. Enforce all the rules or none at all. Beautiful pool, just expect none of the rules to be followed.

Overall clean establishment. Lots of free parking, limited seating and a concessions stand on sight. There's a toddler pool and a splash area with a slide for little kids, two larger slides with height restrictions, floating obstacles, marked lanes for swimming laps and a diving area with a 'High Dive' and a 'Low Dive'. There is a locker area for changing and showering, as well as lockers for your personal things. They supply life jackets for anyone who needs one!

Perfect place for the kids to be outside having fun. It has everything from a high dive, diving board, lap swimming, regular pool, lilly pads to run across, kid pool, splash zone, food, and non alcoholic drinks. They need more Gazebo's, but it's still 5/5.

Fort Walla Walla Park is a vibrant destination that offers an array of activities for visitors of all ages. This expansive park features a wildlife preserve, skateboard park, and two fantastic disc golf courses—one with challenging holes that will test your skills. The BMX track here is the largest in the United States, making it a must-visit for cycling enthusiasts. Nature lovers can explore scenic trails, including the unique "Solar System Walk," which provides an educational experience as it winds through beautiful landscapes.
My son grew up racing BMX on this track and also using the skate park. It's a great place for kids to hang out. You do have to beware of the woods surrounding it as homeless people are known to frequent it, but there are cameras there, and it's generally pretty safe.

Dog Park!! My dog River loves to visit. There are usually a couple dogs there to play with. Lots of room to run and play. Chairs and shade for people. Kiddie pool, water bowls and poop bags provided.
Elizabeth L — Google review
This park has two great disc golf courses. The red course has shorter distances, and the blue course extends across the creek. The blue course has some challenging holes, like one with the basket amid the 12” diameter horizontal curving branches of what I’d call an octopus tree. It’s challenging and fun. I recommend taking a picture of the course map before starting because it’s often difficult to find the next hole. The map is across from the “private house” that is next to the dog park. The difficulty in finding tees and baskets is why I give these courses 4/5 instead of a perfect 5 stars. The park is gorgeous.

Not to mention the added bonus of complimentary gift wrapping. This enchanting establishment exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, brimming with imaginative charm.
Zoey is the new shopkeeper. She has brought a spark back to Inland Octopus. Her thoughtfully curated selection of toys reflects Zoey's knowledge as an educator and her absolute love of toys. She now seems to have more toys, books, and boardgames than ever before. My children and I always feel welcomed by Zoey and her staff. A lot is happening at Inland Octopus and I strongly recommend you take a look for yourself.

If this is how a toy store is "meant to be" , you're so much better off taking your kids to any one of the local tasting rooms where they will be treated warmly and with respect! We came shortly after opening on a weekday, we were the only ones in the shop. My daughter literally jumped for joy walking in and was excited to see the train set up. Elderly brunette shopkeeper (who has probably worked there a little too long) ruined our experience! From the unfriendly glares, to basically telling us (with tone!) the kids couldnt try out the open toys because the old wooden floors weren't clean and if they got a splinter it was a "liability issue"! I was shocked!

What a bizarre toy store. It should be renamed a toy museum. I’m a grown adult and I was continually hassled by the owner of the store while I shopped. Even just reading packaging, both my kids and I were stalked relentlessly by the staff. The sad part is it’s a local business that I’d love to support however, the way they speak to their customers is beyond the pale. Take your money to a store that appreciates it’s customer base.

I love this little local toyshoppe. I come here every time I'm in town. Lots of cool little toys and learning toys for kids of all ages. I have no problem spending my money here. I went in last November to start researching a new road bike, Kathryn took the time to talk to me about what I was looking for and recommended a few different ones for me to research. She was very knowledgeable and encouraging without being pushy to commit to a bike. A couple of months after that I bought one of the bikes she recommended from them and it has been such a joy. The bike fits great and is everything she said it would be. Everyone I’ve encountered who works there has been very helpful. A Waste of time and money. I completed an associates in science and engineering transfer program, planning to transfer to a university to finish my degree in engineering. After finishing it and transferring, only 7 classes actually transferred and counted towards my goal. Instead of saving time and money, I wasted a ton of time and money and still have to do 3.5 years on a 4 year degree, Despite having a two year transfer degree from wwcc. It's a scam and false advertising at its best. Save yourself and just go straight to university somewhere and let the university rip you off directly instead of two schools ripping you off and wasting 2 years of your time!

Andrea S — Google review
It pains me to only be able to rate WWCC 3/5. Although there are absolutely world class instructors(majority)that went above and beyond, there were/are also a couple of classes that still keep me awake some nights. Econ. and Science were absolutely hellish experiences that largely influenced me to give up on WWCC. 1.) The first nightmare I had to pay for was Econ. Oh, unless I write a book — words can not express how painful this experience was. The class is taught out of a book from what felt like the 80s, recorded so we can re-listen to the lessons(lolol), and the quiz/tests made little to no sense. There is an issue when ~half a class ends up failing while the rest barely pass — well, to be fair, one guy got an A. The entire class essentially revolved around 3 tests and a Final. After doing all the coursework, and showing up every day, I thought I was doing well and I was shocked when I received a D+ for my first test. Discouraged, I thought I didn’t study hard enough, so I buckled down for the 2nd test — only for a C-. Confused and worried about my GPA, I decided to form a study group for test 3 and the final to barely squeeze out a passing grade. I tried my best for that class, I really did, and it almost broke me. The instructor “teaches” out of a 20-year-old book, and is essentially hated by the entire student community that ever had the misfortune of sharing my experience. I know of one younger classmate that dropped out after the class, and a couple of close friends who almost did — regardless of detail, this is already a huge problem. Enough complaining, I believe in action, so what did I do? I went to one of the ~10 Deans(lol) with my concerns and let’s just say — that’s when the jokes around college administration really sunk in. What a joke indeed. Still searching for an explanation — I reached out to friends who suffered through the class before me and got their old tests for comparison. That’s when I realized a core issue of the class. Test questions were pulled straight from the book and were rewritten every quarter — to likely discourage cheating, but after writing and rewriting the same questions over ~20 years — the questions get pretty convoluted. For example “What is 1+1”—>”What is Albert Einstein’s favorite number” was just ridiculous. Again, words can not express how much I still HATE that painful experience that I had to pay for. I want my money back. 2.) Science classes — nightmare #2. I’ll keep this one short as it can be summarized in two details. 1) Adjunct instructor who didn’t care — why should they? 2) The first lesson in the first class began with the instructor realizing they played the wrong video.. 3.5minutes into the video. Although there is much more, I think these two details offer a pretty good evaluation of quality control. Again — I want to reiterate that the majority of my ~3 year experience at WWCC was positive, and I loved the majority of my instructors and is the only reason I’ve not shared my experience prior — but, on the other hand, it’s worst that poor quality control caused/is causing students to hate their lives needlessly — I would guess these two alone have made many drop out. WWCC administration, be better, listen to your students — we pay your salaries. Regrettably, Mike Zhen Regrettably, Mike Zhen

As a 2006 Associate of Arts graduate from Walla Walla Community College I can attest to it's excellence. Having gone after high school I got all of my prerequisites done and was part of the Honors Program which are rare in Community Colleges. The fact that the college is situated in a town with other higher education establishments (Whitman College and Walla Walla University) made for excellent faculty. I had several professors who taught at the other 4 year schools as well. I acquired all credits appropriate to transfer into Whitman College an elite liberal arts school as a Junior. I felt well prepared having transitioned from high school to college level courses, then building rigor slowly. There are not any negative things I can say about this school. Their tech programs are also amazing! Way to go Warriors!

Kaleidoscope Studios has been a place for me to grow stronger mentally, physically, and emotionally. I feel grateful to have finally found a practice that my body aches for - movement that radiates a sparkle all the way to each of my finger tips. Movement that my body loves and thanks me for. Additionally, I have met powerful, brave, and passionate women who have become my mentors, friends, and sisters. These women have taught me and continue teach me things about myself that I never knew existed - traits I want to continue to expand on. I am thankful to be surrounded in life, and on the yoga mat, by these individuals. Kaleidoscope Studios has provided me with reflection and direction, creating the person that I am proud of - a girl that I absolutely love. I attended two 2months sessions of prenatal yoga with instructor Mari ☺️It was beyond amazing! It gave me such reassurance as a first time mom. Each session would start with each and every one of us sharing where we are in our pregnancies, any updates, joys and of course challenges. The atmosphere was so welcoming, calming and we all were encouraged to be the real us. Prenatal yoga made my pregnancy easier. I felt I could understand my changing body and keep moving and being healthy with my baby. Instructor Mari would give us a lot of modifications for different yoga positions. Classes felt empowering, fun and extremely beneficial! I looked forward to attending class every Wednesday. I am so thankful that instructor Mari and the studio organized it and I really really hope that prenatal classes will continue in a future!! I would most definitely recommend to all expectant mothers 💛✨ -Karolina Felix

If you’re looking for an intensely amazing yoga and group class studio, Kaleidoscope is it. Every teacher offers something unique, profound and authentic. From Yin Yoga, to Heated Flows, to Buti and Spin there is a class for every-body no matter what age, experience or intention! So incredibly grateful for Britt and Marika and the space they’ve created for our community!

A few months ago, my cousin asked me if I wanted to go to a yoga class with her, I did not, but I said yes. We attended Mercy's class. I quickly fell in love with yoga and Mercy's classes. My cousin and I now attend Mercy's classes weekly, which is the highlight of my week. I'm so glad that I didn't say no. The environment at Kaleidoscope Studios is positive, warm, and inviting. Every person I have interacted with has been friendly, authentic, and down-to-earth. It is easy to fall in love with this environment, its people, and yoga. I went from never doing a single yoga pose to attending yoga class weekly. ✨🌿 I'm delighted I gave Kaleidoscope Studios (and yoga) a try!!!

Downtown Walla Walla Foundation is a charming area with well-preserved buildings from the early 1800s. Visitors can explore unique shops like Brights Candies, known for its fine chocolates, and Inland Octopus, a mom-and-pop toy store. The downtown area also hosts an impressive car show featuring both old and new cars, providing an opportunity to interact with the owners and hear their stories.
The car show in downtown Walla Walla was amazing. It felt like block after block of covered old and new cars, one as beautiful to look at as the other. Some caught my eye (and my camera) more than others but it was energizing to visit with the car owners and hear the stories. Whoever put this together, thank you for doing such a great job! I have one picked out for some day!

Downtown WW has been ruined. They cater to the tourists and not the locals. The businesses are overpriced and usually bad service. I stay far away from that part of town now and would rather travel miles for decent food and shopping than this crap.

The car show here last year was amazing beautiful buildings.

Was thinking about attending the inaugural Walla Walla Brewfest coming up in February 2020. I had a question about the $40-$50 entry fee as it seemed a little steep for only five beer samples. The Public Relations Manager, Ms. Frost, was kind enough to write back but felt it witty I suppose to end her email with the comment "If tickets are too much, then don’t come." Well, obviously my wife and I won't be coming at this point. Could you imagine owning a business and hiring someone like Ms. Frost to be your "Public Relations Manager" and communicating with your prospective clients in this manner? I'd be looking for a new Public Relations Manager.

Lots of local restaurants and local shops to choose from with that small town charm that the city can't offer.
