Victoria Bug Zoo is a family-friendly mini-zoo located at 631 Courtney St in Victoria. It offers a unique collection of live tropical insects from around the world, providing an up-close experience with the beauty and curiosity of these creatures. The zoo is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, making it an accessible and educational attraction for visitors of all ages. If you're looking for fun activities in Victoria, this mini-zoo is definitely worth a visit!
We came here on a weekday afternoon in the summer holiday. There was just a little wait at the ticket queue then we could go into the Bug Zoo right away. The Zoo area is not very big so kids can walk around and explore by themselves quite freely. There were 2 staff there in different corners showing and explaining to visitors about different bugs. They are so knowledgeable and delivered detailed and attractive insect information that both kids and adults could all enjoy and comprehend. We could even have chance to hold / pet / take photos with the bugs (depends on the species). We stayed there for 1.5 hrs. Reserve more time in this zoo if you bring bug-loving kids with you.
Joyce Y — Google review
This was definitely a unique experience! Lots of bugs to check out, not for those who fear bugs (such as myself) but still very interesting to learn about them! The staff was very kind and the tour guide was very sweet! This is definitely an attraction for younger kids so there were lots of little kids in there making it a little crowded but not bad! The gift shop had lots of options! I also got to hold one of the bugs! So that was very memorable (scary😅). Definitely check this place out! They also have a student discount which is really nice (we paid around $24 for 2 students to get in and it was a whole day pass)
Annie I — Google review
We had an excellent time! Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable. We learned new things about some of our favorite insects, and even got to hold a few. Great for kids, but a fun place to go if you're a curious adult.
Corey S — Google review
The Victoria Bug Zoo was a huge hit with our kids! 🐞 From giant stick bugs to friendly tarantulas, every stop had a “Wow!” moment. The guides were amazing — patient, funny, and full of cool bug facts. The kids loved getting up close (and even holding some bugs!) while learning at the same time. It’s small, easy to explore, and packed with creepy-crawly fun. Perfect for curious little adventurers! Pretty gift bugs shop
MOHAMED H — Google review
We had a wonderful time at the bug zoo. The staff is super knowledgeable, kind and interesting. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and they were clearly very passionate about the bugs and their care. Would 100% come back just to hear Grey talk more about the bugs. They were fantastic. This zoo is a great short stop and a fun experience in Victoria. The gift shop has very interesting and unique items too.
Lilia L — Google review
Pretty cool place if you like bugs! They offer a teacher discount so let them know if you are an educator. Bugs aren’t my thing but one of our kids wanted to check it out and I’m glad we did. We saw some really neat things and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Nicole B — Google review
Had a wonderful time today with my fiancé learning about a variety of crawly creatures. Grey was an awesome guide & creature carer, they were wonderful with the little ones & ensured everyone got a (gentle) turn with the bugs. They also made sure that all participants were consenting, and understood that if the kiddo changed their mind, they would be there to help. You can tell Grey really enjoys their job, and the bugs! 🪲 I'd 100% recommend coming here, and we will again, when we come back to the area! I think the millipede was my favourite. 🥰💜🐛

Calyn and Faith were amazing and made the experience exciting. They are 10 out of 10. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the zoo especially with Calyn’s outstanding tour guide and will definitely return. Thank you for the great team and service.

The Royal BC Museum is a must-visit destination showcasing natural wonders like dinosaurs and featuring an IMAX movie theatre. The region offers various attractions such as Craigdarroch Castle, Cathedral Grove, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park, and Mount Washington Alpine Resort. Visitors can also enjoy activities like the Victoria Panorama Seaplane Tour, Butchart Gardens visit, whale watching adventure from Victoria, and more.
Oh my goodness, I haven’t been here since probably grade 5. Took my little girl here today and she absolutely loved it. Old town is my favourite part of the museum. The woolly mammoth is super cool as well. Some of the exhibits are old and some are new. The IMAX is always fun to finish off with.
Brittany R — Google review
A truly excellent museum with a wide variety of engaging exhibits. When I visited, there was an interactive exhibit on protest music that was fascinating, and the section on local ecology and geography was very informative. The diorama of the city in the early 1900s is top-notch and really brings the past to life. Be sure not to miss the exhibit on native languages — although small, it’s incredibly meaningful and I wish there had been more of it. Outside, the totem poles on the East lawn are a highlight and well worth the time. Overall, a place that combines history, culture, and education beautifully.
Manik G — Google review
Highly recommended! You can see a precious mammoth specimen here. Other animal exhibits are very lifelike, and the displays recreate the animals’ natural habitats. Visiting this place gives you a great understanding of Vancouver’s history, local wildlife, environment, and culture. The lady at the front desk was very friendly — I’m really glad I came to visit!

Employees on strike day we visited so Imax & some areas closed. Museum did not live up to the hype. Second floor natural history displays were poorly lit, hard to read and some videos not working. Disappointing. Best exhibits were on third floor, and covered history of India's manufacturing Chintz. When you see what was involved, you can't not be impressed. Many significant totems, worth seeing. Price of admission reasonable, worth seeing. Excellent gift store and cafe.
Roger T — Google review
If you want to know more about British Columbia this is the place. You will learn about its fauna and flora, about its people, places and influences. I was completely blown way by the room Our living languages ,where you can learn and listening to the indigenous dialects, and the reproduction of the early 19th century town. Quite impressive. Save at least 2h for the visit. I was there all morning. The museum is also home of the Imax cinema. It has a café, souvenir shops and toilets.
Ana T — Google review
I've been to many museums and this was one of my favorites! Lots to see and learn! Give yourself at the VERY least 1 hr to speed thru. It does have the ability to add IMAX movie to watch as well for an additional fee.
No N — Google review
I haven't been here in about 30 years and it is much smaller than I remembered. The Johnathan Hunt House and Old Town displays were interesting and well presented. I thought there was a lot more indigenous art on display the last time I visited and was very disappointed. John Lennon's Rolls-Royce was a cool surprise.
Don W — Google review
Was expecting a lot more. The museum was a quick breeze through not alot to see, and what felt like a more steep price to what they have compared to other museums I’ve visited across Canada. It killed some time, but felt like a bit of a waste of a stop. Lots of protesting going on that perhaps has something to do with.

Miniature World, located near the Fairmont Empress hotel in Victoria, offers over 80 detailed displays of historical and fictional scenes. Visitors can immerse themselves in miniature dioramas accompanied by appropriate sounds, bringing these worlds to life. The attraction features the world's smallest operational sawmill, two of the largest dollhouses, and one of the longest model railways. With themes like Circus World, Frontierland, Space 2201, Fantasyland, and King Arthur's Camelot among others.
Miniature landscapes and scenes portraying various themes and moments in time. The staff is friendly and there was no waiting to enter. You might have to be into the idea to really appreciate what this place is all about. I was really into the art and detail of the miniatures and spent almost 2 hours looking and admiring the work. To me, it was amazing but you might think the time and $20 admission could have been spent doing something else. The corridors around the miniatures may get a bit tight with other visitors. We went mid-day, mid-week. I suspect there's less visitor traffic during the first and last few hours of business.
Roy A — Google review
The detail that wanted to every single piece is amazing. You can see pieces from all around the world that were built and put in. There was even one place where they show you about the whole log process, but the machine doesn’t work as they’re not allowed to use it, but there’s a whole video on how that process goes. It was well. Worth our time and money. And if you wanna look at the detail, definitely go there. We spend about two hours there. That’s a good place for kids and adults to visit together. So highly recommend this location if you’re on trip to Victoria !
Ruby N — Google review
Loved all the miniature dioramas! I highly admire the work and dedication put into creating all these displays, especially the one of the lumbar mill with a well explained video playing of each working miniature machinery. That was far the most impressive cause the little machines in the video actually worked.
Jim C — Google review
We visited Victoria and wanted to explore some of the recommended places, so we decided to check out Miniature World in downtown. While the displays were detailed and the information provided was good, we found the pricing for adults a bit too expensive for the overall experience. This attraction is definitely more enjoyable for kids than for adults. It works well as a short activity to do in Victoria, especially if you’re visiting with children, but we feel the prices could be adjusted to better match the experience.
Shivam D — Google review
you're in Victoria, don't miss Miniature World! This charming attraction is full of stunning, detailed displays that will spark your imagination and take you on a journey through history, fantasy, and more. It's not just beautiful - it's fascinating and fun for all ages. Whether you live here or are just visiting, I highly recommend making Miniature World part of your day. You'll be amazed at the craftsmanship and creativity on display.
Ali R — Google review
What can I say that other reviews haven’t already? Miniature World truly is one of the best places to visit in Victoria. It’s a great place to bring your kids or just yourself. There are so many historical and fantastical models that you could spend all day in here looking at every detail. There are little plaques with information about the scenes and times that the models depict. The world’s smallest working sawmill is not in operation behind the glass due to fire safety regulations, but there is a very informative video from the man who made the model by hand. Such an amazing place for kids and adults of all ages.
Vince M — Google review
Miniature world was a blast and there are many exhibits to explore. You can feel the passion for dioramas with all the attention to detail. They range from historical moments, I learned a lot about the first settlements in Vancouver, to fairy tales come to life. Tickets were around $19 and it was a Saturday afternoon well spent.
Ryan D — Google review
Space section in the beginning was mind blowing before we even entered the real miniature world, loved the history through miniatures and evolution after 1800s , wish we could have spent more time there, almost 2 hours were less, the give multi entry ticket, so make the best of this unique place.

This Castle is absolutely stunning, a true gem that draws many visitors. This grand, historic mansion boasts beautiful architecture with tall towers and intricate details. Inside, you’ll find gorgeous woodwork, colorful stained-glass windows and elegant rooms filled with history. Walking through feels like stepping back in time with each room telling a story. The castle is perfect for families, history lover or anyone seeking beauty. The gardens outside are lovely for a relaxing stroll. Easy to reach with parking nearby, it’s one of Victoria’s most frequented spots. Its a memorable experience for all of us.

We just loved this castle!! What beautiful architecture and history! Very well preserved and maintained! You need about 2 hours on the minimum side to explore the entire castle. The staff on site are very welcoming and always with a smile, ready to point out some historical facts or just show you directions. The gardens around the castle are wonderful to explore and there is ample parking around the area. We had a lovely time exploring this history!
Aisha J — Google review
It’s amazing to see how one of the richest men in British Columbia built this place. He found coal and became super wealthy, then brought all the bricks and materials from his country, piece by piece, to build this incredible castle. The details inside are beautiful, and you can really feel the history. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Victoria!
Victoria — Google review
Home of one of the most rich men of Victoria in the late 19th century, the coal magnate Robert Dunsmuir . Its construction finished in 1890 and it is among the largest and most ornate 19th century mansions in Western Canada. It is amazing to see how this family lived at that time and the house has amazing views. There is a souvenir shop and toilets. Save at least 1h for the visit. It will take you around 20 minutes walk from downtown.
Ana T — Google review
Personally, it wasn’t my favorite place to visit. I felt that the vibe of the place and the symbols I found there were a bit strange or dark. I did enjoy a bit more of the history when it was used as a hospital or as a school. However, they tend to show more of the creepy history of the millionaire’s family who couldn’t see his castle finished. The kids did like it a lot though, so I think it might just be a more personal thing.
Gerardo Z — Google review
Absolutely my favourite castle to visit. I come here anytime I visit Victoria. It’s a great tour you can easily do in an hour. Absolutely breathtaking woodwork inside, the rooms are set up with a lot of the original furniture with a description of what each room was used for in different areas. I would highly recommend this place. It is a lot of fun.my little one loved it!
Brittany R — Google review
We walked through on Friday and it was a great self guided tour. The staff were friendly as well, joking a bit with us about the squeeks in the floor. We will return again when we have more time to take it all in and get quality pictures. Interesting history

Beautiful castle with many decorated/ restored rooms and historical information. Loved the stained glass and craftsmanship of the interior stairs and furniture. Worth going, bring a camera as you will take many photos. It was about $25 a person I believe and restrooms and tour pamphlet available with admission.

Victoria Harbour Ferry is a renowned transportation service in Victoria, British Columbia, offering scenic tours and pub crawls on its pickle boats and electric vessels. The ferry provides a delightful experience for kids as it runs passengers to over a dozen locations in the harbor. Additionally, visitors can purchase a longer harbor tour pass for a 45-minute guided journey featuring historic landmarks and breathtaking views of seaplanes taking off and landing.
The Victoria Harbour Ferry Tour is such a fun and relaxing way to see the city from the water. The small boats give you a close-up view of the harbour, floating homes, marinas, and landmarks, all while the guides share interesting history and stories about Victoria. It’s not just scenic but also very charming — the little ferries feel intimate compared to big tour boats, and you really get a sense of the harbour’s character. Kids especially love the ride, and the famous “water ballet” shows with the ferries are a delightful bonus if you catch them.
Manik G — Google review
Visited: June 27, 2025, around 7:15 PM Also Visited: June 29, 2025, around 6:45 PM Took a water taxi with Victoria Harbour Ferry on two occasions, and both experiences were fantastic overall. On the first ride, from the time I called dispatch to the boat arriving was only about 3 minutes—super fast! The driver mentioned it was good timing, but I was still impressed. Dispatch was friendly, easy to understand, and even helped me find the exact spot to wait over the phone—big thanks for that! The price was very reasonable at $15 per person, and I loved that they didn’t ask for a tip. In today’s tipping-everywhere culture, it felt refreshing that tipping was left up to me. I still gave a tip afterward both times because the service deserved it. On both trips, we had Peter as our captain, and he was great to talk to—friendly, personable, and shared interesting tidbits about the area. On June 29, it took a bit longer (about 10 minutes) for the boat to arrive, but it was still faster than we expected, especially compared to another stop where people were waiting around 20 minutes just to board. The second ride was busier, with nine people total on board including Captain Peter, but it was still a smooth and enjoyable trip. Based on both visits, I’d choose a water taxi over Uber or rental bikes any day when it’s an option. I really appreciate this service! My star ranking system: 1: Bad / Don't go there 2: Could be better 3: Average 4: Above average but not the best 5: A true top notch place

Very interesting and informative . Our tour guide was born and raised on this route. He has personal knowledge and funny. Super friendly. We were visiting from Niagara Falls On an adventure we did this tour on day 2. Thank you

A really interesting harbour ferry. It can take you to many tourist spots so you don't need to drive and looking for parking in these busy area. They have a few ferry wharf in the whole area. But they don't offer day pass like Granville Island's ferries in Vancouver, it will be expensive if you going all others ferry spots. It's a good area for a stroll and taking some nice pictures.

Took the gorge harbour tour and loved it! Stan was our driver and he was so much fun! Highly recommend taking this little "Duffy boat" tour if you have a few hours free on a nice day in Victoria!
J C — Google review
Like a regular taxi but in boat and bus format, fills up and goes. $15 adult, 6 years and under Free,$7 children. Per ride. Hope on and off is $125, not sure how long that is good for, may be a good deal. They have tours but haven’t and may not try them. It’s a monopoly there is only 1 company so no competition or options. A must do 1 time if you visit Victoria, the captains seem professional enough.
Jeff C — Google review
We did the Gorge Tour today and our captain was very friendly and knowledgeable having grown up on the gorge himself! He regaled us with his childhood story and was happy to answer any questions. We learned a lot and it a great 75 min tour for $50 pp. Highly recommend!
Leah B — Google review
This service is best for the harbor tour which you need to book days in advance even off season. The one I went on was wonderful. The taxi side of their business is a bit of a rip off because the captains always discourage you if you want to go to a further out stop. Twice I’ve been shuttled over to Chinatown from the Empress assuming I’m a typical tourist and not taking me where I wanted to go. And I’m sorry but that 5 minute ride is not worth the $15 a person

Whale watching tour agency
Five Star Whale Watching, located in Victoria, is the premier whale watching company affiliated with the renowned Fairmont Empress hotel. Offering four distinct tour options throughout the year, visitors can embark on an Ultimate Marine Adventure Tour, Standard 3-hour Whale Watching Tours, Marine Wildlife Tours, and Sunset & Whales Tours. Certified naturalists guide guests through the waters to witness orcas, gray whales, humpback whales, minke whales and other marine wildlife up close.
Very knowledgeable guides, good price. We saw orcas, sea lions, sea otters and an eagle. No humpbacks on our tour but lots the following day! Our group was smaller (only 12 people on board) so there was lots of space to move about. Dress warmly in layers like they suggested - it is windy and cool out in open water. The captain will take good quality photos of animal sightings that are posted on their Facebook page.
Sarah B — Google review
An absolutely magical and unforgettable experience 🐋! We were lucky enough to see many humpback whales, some of them feeding, and one even swam very close to the boat (with the engine off) a truly timeless moment. Andrew is an exceptional captain, passionate and attentive, and the whole crew is adorable, professional, and always available to answer our questions. The little hot drinks served on board were a wonderful touch after such emotional moments. What we particularly appreciated were their respectful approach measures, referenced on the Shelltone Whale Project website a guarantee of responsible and sustainable whale watching. It did not disappoint us. I 100% recommend this excursion to anyone wishing to experience a unique adventure at sea, in full respect of the whales and their environment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👍
Manon J — Google review
I highly recommend this tour. The boat was very comfortable….not too big and not too small with lots of room to move around. We saw lots of whales and other wildlife. The staff did a great job pointing out the whales and explaining their behavior. It was nice to have a naturalist on board to answer questions and describe what we were seeing. They knew exactly where to go to have the best experience!
Tom — Google review
We had an excellent trip with our guides. They went beyond the required trip time to ensure that we saw whales and sea lions. The boat is a great intermediate size: not the tiny zodiaks, but not the bigger boats that cram in 150 people. We didn't ever feel like we were fighting for a spot at the railing to see the whales. 100% recommend. Note: Take layers! And a toque and gloves are also recommended, especially if you like to ride on the bow of the ship in the wind!
Jason S — Google review
This was the most incredible experience! Nour was the best! She was so fun and informative! We got to see an Orca up close which was amazing! After having a bad experience with a different whale watching company last Thursday I decided to try again with 5 Star Whale Watching and they did not disappoint! Very happy with my experience today!
Dania P — Google review
Incredible whale watching experience in Victoria, BC! Five Star Whale Watching truly lives up to their name. The crew is extremely knowledgeable about marine wildlife and the local ecosystem. They shared interesting facts about orcas, humpback whales, marine birds, and the Salish Sea throughout the trip. You can tell they are passionate about what they do and truly care about wildlife. Special shoutout to Rayne, who was the best guide we've ever had on any whale watching tour. Rayne's enthusiasm, expertise, and love for the ocean made the experience even more enjoyable! We had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a mother orca and her calf breaching together—absolutely breathtaking! Then, we were treated to an up-close encounter with a humpback whale calf right in front of our boat. It was magical. If you're visiting Victoria and looking for the best whale watching tour, Five Star Whale Watching is the way to go. Amazing crew, unforgettable encounters, and a deep love for the ocean. Can’t recommend them enough!

We had an absolutely amazing time on our whale watching tour! Our guide went above and beyond—when we heard there were orcas spotted, he took us on an extended journey so we could see them. The crew on the boat were all incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to answer any questions we had along the way. Keisha stood out—she clearly loves what she does, always smiling, energetic, and sharing her knowledge with genuine enthusiasm. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!

Fisherman's Wharf Park in Victoria, BC, is a delightful waterfront haven that promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. As you stroll along the charming floating boardwalks, you'll be captivated by the vibrant atmosphere filled with colorful shops and eateries. This unique destination not only showcases picturesque houseboats but also offers a chance to spot playful seals and other marine life basking in their natural habitat.
What a cool place! Beautiful park for kids right nearby and good food/snacks for everyone. Make sure you take the time to walk all the docks to see the really cool floating houses on the water. I also recommend that you spend some time watching the boats and sea planes land and take off. Will definitely visit here again the next time I am in Victoria!
Maria P — Google review
Very busy but beautiful spot to explore. The float homes are all so cute but I feel terrible that the residents have to deal with such big crowds. We were in and out in after 1-1.5 hrs, great spot for lunch on the water.
Brittany G — Google review
Beautiful spot in Victoria. A most visit attraction. Particularly in the weekend sometimes there is a local band playing nice music. Many different restaurants to choose from. It's also the departure point from whale watching trips and you can also take there the harbour taxi.
Mariam S — Google review
Nestled in the bustling cityscape, Fisherman's Wharf Park offers a serene escape to nature's embrace. A place where the urban and maritime worlds harmoniously intertwine, it presents a unique blend of cultural vibrancy and tranquil green spaces. As you step into the park, you're greeted by the melodious tunes of local musicians and the gentle rustling of leaves. The park is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, providing a picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful afternoon picnic. With its well-maintained pathways and ample seating, it's an accessible retreat for everyone looking to unwind amidst nature. The charm of Fisherman's Wharf Park lies in its simplicity. It doesn't boast grandiose attractions or adrenaline-pumping activities; instead, it offers the simple pleasures of life—a place to sit back, relax, and watch the world go by. The park's proximity to the water's edge allows for stunning views of the harbor, where one can observe the ebb and flow of daily maritime activities. For those with a penchant for history, the park serves as a window to the past. The floating homes and boats anchored nearby tell stories of a vibrant maritime heritage, inviting visitors to delve into the tales of yesteryears. Food enthusiasts can indulge in a variety of culinary delights offered by the takeout food shops within the park's vicinity. From fresh seafood to local treats, there's something to satisfy every palate. In conclusion, Fisherman's Wharf Park may not be grand in size, but it's rich in character. Whether you're seeking solace, a touch of history, or just a pleasant day out, Fisherman's Wharf Park is well worth a visit.

Wonderful place to visit. We loved the food and the ice cream, went too late to see any shops, but the views were my favorite part. The brightly colored homes in a wide variety of types were fun to admire.

A wonderful location, adding vibrancy to the city of Victoria. This area offers a range of restaurants, cafes, and colorful spots, making it a place worth visiting for anyone exploring the city. A perfect blend of charm and convenience!

This is pretty. Unfortunately we were there on a rainy day. I like colors of shops and houses. I wonder what benefit private home owners get bit allowing visitors walk besides their homes? I do not think it is fun to live there were you would be on the public eyes all the time. I liked seeing houses, shops and water taxes, a pretty picture. We had fish and fries and I did not enjoy fish at all. It was fish with very bland batter and was not tasty at all atheist for me. Overall it is a mist visit place for sure.

Lovely place with colourful buildings on the water. In the place you can see restaurants, ice cream shop, galleries and houses. There are public washrooms in the place. Really nice atmosphere. Next to the place there is a big lawn and small playground. There is a pay parking lot and free parking spots on the street. Highly recommended to visit here.

Nestled within the historic Fairmont Empress Hotel, Q at the Fairmont Empress is a luxurious destination that perfectly marries modern sophistication with Victorian elegance. This upscale lounge invites guests to indulge in a diverse selection of globally inspired wines and expertly crafted cocktails, all curated by talented mixologists. After a day of exploring Victoria's charming downtown or soaking in breathtaking views of the Inner Harbour, unwind at Q where you can savor exquisite libations amidst an atmosphere steeped in timeless grandeur.
Had to experience the Empress Gin when we were in Victoria Island. We got an Empress French 75 and a Empress Gin and tonic. Both were delicious. We got a 3rd drink but I don’t remember the name. We got the Korean cauliflower and it was yummy. The view of the marina was perfect. The restaurant wasn’t open when we were there but we just wanted a cocktail.
Joanne S — Google review
Dining at Q at the Empress was an exercise in frustration, overpriced disappointment, and basic hospitality failures. This place rides entirely on its historic location and name — because it certainly isn’t surviving on food quality or service. Let’s begin with the food: I ordered sunny side up eggs and toast. What I got were dry, overcooked eggs that might as well have been fried in a forgotten corner of the kitchen. The yolks were stiff — not a hint of "sunny side" to be found. The toast wasn’t toasted — it was plain bread. Flimsy, flavorless, and thrown on the plate like an afterthought. Absolutely unacceptable for a place that pretends to be fine dining. Service? Just as bad. Our server (Amanda) was flighty, distracted, and visibly flustered. She dropped our utensils while clearing the table — again, no apology — and nearly served us cloudy, murky water that looked like it came from a tap no one’s cleaned in a week. Oh, and let’s not forget the coffee. After all the above, I figured at least I could enjoy a hot cup to salvage the morning. But no — they had no cream. None. At a high-end breakfast service, they couldn’t even provide cream for coffee. What kind of operation is this? Q at the Empress is overpriced, overrated, and under-delivering in every possible way. The kitchen needs a complete overhaul — starting with firing the chef — and the front-of-house staff desperately needs retraining. This experience was a total embarrassment to the Empress name.
Simone B — Google review
Had breakfast here as a hotel guest twice and enjoyed it immensely. The service was top notch: the servers were very efficient and pleasant despite the restaurant being fairly packed. Everything i ordered was delicious, but I wanted to put in a special word for the mango lassi chia seed pudding, which was incredible without being too sweet. The coffee was good as well. Thank you so much for the wonderful breakfast!
LL C — Google review
I booked this with every intention of having the prime rib. Unfortunately we ate a big lunch so we settled on the risotto and bone marrow. One of the best risottos I have ever had! Service was top notch. Just an amazing experience. Our server Leah did an outstanding job! Try the Negroni. You won’t be disappointed.
Erik O — Google review
I've been wanting to visit the Q for a few years now but never found the opportunity. I finally decided to go for a last minute thanksgiving meal and will say, I'm not disappointed. Every course was fulfilling, no complaints. The food was really good, if not great. The squash bisque was really comforting and prepared with finesse. The main course was like a truck load of food for one person, maybe because of the sides adding to the overall meal. Yet, I wished there was more cranberry jelly complimenting the delicious meal. The dessert I'd say was quite exceptional; the pumpkin cake with the ice cream was just divine! Loved the pace between courses as I really dislike waiting for too long, and for this alone I'll change my rating from 4 to 5.

Q at The Empress was a wonderful dining experience for our 25th wedding Anniversary. The food was fabulous and service was great too. We decided to have a drink at the bar before leaving Victoria and the charcoal popcorn and fancy drinks did not disappoint. There is a nice view of the inner harbour from the window seats at the bar. Highly recommend!

On a whim … we landed at the Q. And man oh man are we glad we did!!! We were just planning on touring the lovely grounds and the 2 chairs in the window at the Q were calling our names. While the gin flight was a splurge at $40 i have to say it was well worth it. So fun to sample the different Empress gin flavors. Our absolutely adorable server was icing on the cake. Extremely friendly, punctual and professional. This ended up being a highlight to our time in Victoria.

An Incredible part of the community here in Victoria. 10/10 milkshakes and all the sandwiches are cheap and delicious. Excellent selection of games to use and everything is very nicely taken care and packaged. All the staff are friendly and helpful.

I really like this place, the fact that you can play most of their games displayed for sale it’s amazing. Their staff is so helpful and knowledgeable about the games. They will recommend you games based on your taste and will come to your table and teach you how to play all those games which rules are a bit hard to understand. Great service and I came out of there with two new fun games.

For $7 per person, you can stay for as long as you want in this board game paradise! The options are endless and if you're feeling lost, the staff members are always eager to help. If this wasn't enough, their homemade milkshakes are some of the best I've ever tried! Their menu includes many options for all ages. Victoria’s Chinatown National Historic Site is Canada's oldest Chinese neighborhood, featuring a vibrant mix of restaurants, shops, and colorful architecture. It offers a unique cultural experience with its rich history and lively atmosphere. Visitors can explore the area's local cuisine, charming boutiques, and immerse themselves in the dynamic energy of this historic site. Whether it's indulging in delicious food or admiring the distinctive architectural charm, a visit to Victoria’s Chinatown promises an enriching and enjoyable experience for all.
I enjoy visiting Chinatown in different states and this was just as beautiful in downtown Victoria BC, Canada. Just walking around and seeing the beautiful architecture, murals and sculptures is amazing. You have your gift shops, produce and restaurants to enjoy yourself or with family and friends. There was plenty more to see but I had limited time unfortunately. Love Chinatown.
J S — Google review
Canada’s Oldest Chinatown! I was really impressed by how beautiful and large the gate is in person. There are many restaurant options to choose from, with my favorites being dim sum and duck—they're simply the best! Some places also sell bubble tea, which makes this Chinatown even better. After eating and exploring, you can check out the souvenir shops. I bought a "Victoria’s Chinatown" fridge magnet, and it was worth it. As an Asian, I was pleased to find a Chinese grocery store that had everything we needed for our vacation here in Victoria, BC. On the downside, I found this town is a bit smaller than I had expected before arriving. A pretty short walk around the area will have you seeing the whole town in just a few minutes.

Victoria’s Chinatown is such a vibrant and fascinating place to explore! As Canada’s oldest Chinatown, it’s full of history, charm, and character around every corner. The colorful streets, beautiful murals, and unique architecture create such a lively atmosphere. There are plenty of interesting shops to browse, from local boutiques to traditional stores, and the restaurants offer delicious food with so many flavors to enjoy. Walking through Fan Tan Alley is a must—it’s narrow, quirky, and full of surprises. A wonderful spot to experience culture, history, and great food all in one!
Kenneth L — Google review
You can really feel the history of early Chinese immigrants here — how they settled, built communities, and shaped the neighborhood over time. After strolling through the area, you’ll also find plenty of cozy spots nearby to sit down for a breather, whether it’s a cup of milk tea or a comforting bowl of Chinese comfort food. 🧋🍜
GSTonyTseng — Google review
It is the oldest Chinatown in Canada and also the one with the narrowest street in the city, Fan Tan Alley. It is a small area comparing to other Chinatowns but it is vibrant. It has good variety of shops, food places, and the chinatown museum. Not to be missed.
Ana T — Google review
Victoria’s Chinatown National Historic Site is the oldest in Canada and second-oldest in North America. Compact but full of character, it offers a glimpse into history with its narrow alleys, red brick buildings, and colorful details. Fan Tan Alley, one of the narrowest streets in the country, is worth walking through for the photo ops and quirky little shops. It’s a mix of the preserved and the modern, with traditional medicine shops alongside trendy boutiques. Best explored on foot and with curiosity.
Val T — Google review
Victoria's Chinatown was designated a National Historic Site in 1981, following some major re-vitalization. It is Canada's oldest surviving Chinatown and originally populated by immigrants coming for the gold rush in California / Canada, and became a gate way for Chinese immigrants ever since. So I was very excited to visit after visiting Chinatown's in San Francisco, Chicago and New York. The architecture surviving from the 19th Century and re-vitalized was a towns cape hardly ever seen any more. Really took you back in time. Such as: Gate of Harmonious Interest, Fan Tan Alley (the narrowest street in Canada and past home to opium and gambling dens), Chinese Public School. Roughly 2-3 block area contains unique shops, and stores featuring a variety of "Asian" items. Yes, this is a "must see" sight, but quite frankly I was disappointed. Entire area, especially most restaurants, appeared dirty and grimy. Most shops were selling shop-worn, junk. While we were really looking forward to a good Chinese meal, we actually walked away and ate elsewhere. "Sorry Charlie."
Roger T — Google review
Although it's still a wonderful experience, it is certainly lost some of its charm over the years. That aside I can still highly recommend it. Fan Tan alley still has a funky stores, and there are some wonderful long term stores still in place. Just picked up a huge stainless steel Wok in one for 25.00, how are you going to beat that? Still a very worthwhile visit.

So much to see in Victoria... this is one spot that is great to say you've been, but not a must see.
No N — Google review
Forget Diagon Alley. Victoria doesn't need a hidden pub entrance to lead you into a world of magic; it just needs a few feet of moss-covered brick, a lot of crimson paint, and the narrowest street in Canada: Fan Tan Alley. Stepping off the busy Chinatown street and into this slip of an alleyway is like folding reality. It’s a sensory squeeze play. The walls loom high and close, forcing you to tilt your chin up, where lines of faded, flapping laundry and string lights stretch across the sliver of sky like ancient, colorful cobwebs. The alley is so impossibly thin, you have to turn sideways to let an oncoming stroller pass.

Absolutely worth the wait! Best seafood in Victoria. We had heard great things about Red Fish Blue Fish, and when we arrived, the long line said it all — but let me tell you, it was totally worth the 20–30 minute wait. We ordered the BC Halibut, Tempura Cod Taco, and a Salad — and every single item blew us away. 🔹 The BC Halibut was unbelievably delicious — honestly, the best fish I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, super flavorful, and paired with fantastic fries. 🔹 The Tempura Cod Taco (more like a warm, soft wrap) was packed with flavor and had an amazing texture — crispy yet tender. 🔹 The Salad was a surprising highlight — so fresh, bright, and very tasty, which is rare for a side salad at a seafood shack! We truly loved every bite and really enjoyed our lunch by the harbor. The setting, the food, the vibe — all top-notch. We’re actually planning to come back tomorrow — that’s how good it was. We can’t imagine any other restaurant topping this seafood experience. The halibut is an absolute must. Highly, highly recommended.

Missed out on visiting this restaurant in May so I made a priority to visit this time I'm in Victoria. The 1 pice cod meal was absolutely delicious 😋 😍 and portion of cod and fries were perfect for individual and per price point. The chowder was phenomenal 👏 🙌 The stunning views and watching the sea planes, small boats, water taxis added to the atmosphere and experience. Little wait time for my meal today. Great service from the til to picking up my meal, be sure to listen for your name 😉 the tunes were on point as well. Flash back to times in Camden market and fisheries around UK. Will definitely be back to enjoy more menu options!

Amazing quick service spot for fish and chips simple menu and despite every order being cooked to order, everything comes out fast so don't be intimidated by the line. Highly recommend the chowder as its an unique take on the traditional cream based. Adds another dimension of flavour to the typical fish and chips meal

One of the very best fish and chips I’ve had! The long lines should tell you just how good these fish are. Up to an hour wait while lining up, but it’s worth it for the delicious seafood on offer. Delightfully crispy and flaky fish, super fresh tasting and nicely sized. The fries are well seasoned and are crunchy as well. The seafood chowder is loaded with tasty bits of seafood and more, making it stand out from other restaurants. Good service and decent cooking and prep times once you’ve got your order placed. Some tables and chairs in the area to sit back and enjoy your meal. Come try it out, you won’t regret it!
Jason N — Google review
One of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! The cod was sooo fresh and the portions were good. The chowder was so delicious as well and it had a spicy Thai flavour to it which I loved. The wait was about ~10 min when we went but I would it expect it to be busier on a warmer day. There’s some seating around the area as well where you can enjoy the views of the water!

Food was great. My wife doesn't like fish at all but she tried the Halibut and loved it! Also the yam taco wife loved it. The fish was so light and flavorful. Go before 11 am to beat the lines but it moves fast.

This is a cute little fish stand, serving delicious tacos. We wait in line for about 20 minutes, put our order in then sat on the stools to enjoy this fresh tacos, and fish and chips. This is a super casual place overlooking the Victoria Bay. We had gone a few nights before and the line was down the block so we chose a different night – it was worth the wait and very enjoyable. The fish and chips were light and crispy, and the fish tacos were delicious. Very reasonably priced at this glorified food truck. Would definitely go back.
Susan C — Google review
1st visit: Very good food, especially the fries. Large portions. Very limited outside seating, always a line to order. 2nd visit: not as good. Stood in line for more than 40 minutes. At one point, they stopped taking orders due to a need to catch up. The food was good, as usual. The salmon sandwich was quite good, and not as wet as the first time. I didn't care for the seafood chowder, since it contained tomatoes; however, my wife liked it. As with the other visit, the battered halibut and fries were very good.

I have never been in the house, but there are some lovely gardens to visit containing statues, ponds, a totem pole, a sundial (on top of a mini totem) and some views of the Olympic mountains away to the south in Washington State. The Gardens are free to see so well worth a visit even if the Lieutenant Governor General is in residence and the house is not open.

Today we went over to have a little bit of tea and also a little lunch at Rudi’s Tea Room. I had a brown sugar BBQ chicken sandwich while my wife had a piece of carrot cake. The service was nice. The tea and food was fantastic. The grounds were amazing.

Our favorite place in Victoria boasts an incredible atmosphere and breathtaking views. You’ll discover numerous hidden branches, washroom, and cozy spots perfect for picnics. Additionally, this place is home to an uncountable number of hummingbirds.

I’ve visited Government House in Victoria many times, especially whenever guests come over, and it never fails to impress. The beautiful gardens are perfectly maintained and offer a peaceful, scenic retreat that everyone enjoys. The free one-hour tours on Sundays are a great way to learn about the history and significance of the place, though you need to register in advance to secure a spot.

Thunderbird Park is a cultural oasis adjacent to the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, offering a serene and educational experience. The park features a stunning collection of Indigenous totem poles, including replicas of original totems from the First Peoples Gallery inside the museum. Visitors can explore historic buildings such as a convent and carving studio, as well as the iconic Mungo Martin House, named after a renowned local carver.
Lots of beautiful story poles , ceremony house of chief David Knox

Tucked behind the Royal Museum, not heavily visited (compared to other parts of downtown Victoria), but absolutely worth wandering around! These are beautifully carved totem poles that you can just walk directly up to (no barricades). One missed opportunity though: there is no signage next to the poles or house - the experience could be so much richer if we could learn some history and / or interpretation of what has been carved into the poles.

What a cool little spot with a lot of history. I highly recommend stopping & checking out these beautiful totem poles. Also the oldest house in Victoria is right by there & an old school. We really enjoyed wandering around this area. Downtown Victoria has so much to see & do.

What a great collection of amazing Indigenous artwork! There are several totem poles of various designs all within close proximity to one another. If you're in Victoria, you should take the time to walk through the park and check out these totem poles!

Beacon Hill Children's Farm is a charming addition to a day spent in Beacon Hill Park, offering kids the chance to experience farm life without leaving the city. Located in downtown Victoria, this farm within a city is home to pigs, donkeys, chickens, goats, and peacocks. Visitors can witness the exciting Running of the Goats at 10:10 AM during the summer season. The petting zoo provides an educational and entertaining experience for families while being donation-based.
Such a gem in the heart of Victoria! I’m so happy this place exists 😭 It was so much fun—getting to pet baby goats? Unreal. This charming little farm is full of the sweetest animals; chunky miniature pigs, lanky and awkward alpacas, sassy donkeys, silly ducks and chickens, and of course, the sweetest goats you’ve ever seen. Some of the mama goats are pregnant, and others are snuggled up with their tiny babies. Pure cuteness overload. Admission is by donation ($7 for adults, $6 for kids is recommended) and it’s absolutely worth it. Such a fun and wholesome way to spend the afternoon, especially after a stroll through beautiful Beacon Hill Park. Can’t wait to come back!
Emma S — Google review
A wonderful place to take your children, neices, nephews and grandchildren ❤️. Actually, it is just a beautiful place for everyone to go and soak up the smells and sounds of all the fun animals. We saw alpacas, ducks and chickens of many varieties, pigs, many little birds in the bird house, Guinea pigs, peacocks and of course the goats. 💕 We were lucky to see the 2 newest kids only two days old. So cute😍

Visiting the petting zoo was a highlight of our visit to victoria. It is perfect for a five-year-old to look at different animals. We loved petting the goats, llamas, pigs and donkeys. The goat stampede was particularly fun during our three day visit. We were here for four times and will definitely come back. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers of keeping such a joyful place running in the middle of the city.
Jiayi L — Google review
So fun with a 6 and 8 year old. Birds (doves and budgies), pigs (apparently miniature but still pretty big), donkeys (looked a bit worse for wear), alpacas (who said cheese for my picture), goats (so soft at 1 month old), peacocks (shockingly loud), guinea pigs. Donation suggested for entry. I heard tell of a goat stampede at 10 am. You can get a stamp page at the front and add a stamp at each animal but we were so engaged by the animals we didn’t go for that.

As an animal lover, one of the first places I visited after moving to Victoria was Beacon Hill Children’s Farm and it truly left me speechless. This place is an absolute gem. There’s something incredibly peaceful and heartwarming about spending time here, and I highly recommend it to anyone. The fact that it’s about to celebrate its 40th anniversary says everything about how cherished and successful it is. A definite must-visit!🥰

Great small farm for animal interactions with kids , just beside the parking area and within the park. The entrance fee is by donation only --- but the receptionist guy just put the minimum amount on the pos machine, so it's just paying an entrance fee anyways.

Things to know: 1. Entrance is by donation. 2. You can pet the goats. 3. There are brushes there for you.

Brought my 4y/o for the first time, he absolutely loved it. We went at 2pm and it wasn't crowded at all, and much cheaper then our usual indoor go-to spot at Mayfair mall, as much as we have fun at DreamLand, and was great for him a year ago, this is our new rainy day place to be!

We've held birthday parties here a few times and our latest experience was the best we've had. Staff were friendly, organised, and the birthday table areas (despite being dining areas and prone to mess) were spotless. The kids had an absolute blast. Special shout out to our party host Ryleigh, who was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely kind which made all the difference. Someone give her a raise!

We had an excellent time here. It was our first time visiting, children are 2 and 5. We came with friends who were seasoned jumpers and showed us the ropes. The facility seemed very well maintained. Staff were friendly, considerate and helpful. Washrooms were clean. We arrived just before 10 am on a Friday morning when it was raining. Parking can be challenging.

We have done birthday parties here, and go here at least once a month. Great way to get your child to burn some energy. Great kids spot with a foam pit, basket ball hoop, and trampoline . The laser game is also super fun!

I brought my special needs kids here two days in a row while we were visiting Victoria. When I asked for special needs rates there was zero problem. My youngest is noise sensitive and the music was LOUD. Without asking, they turned it down (don't know if that was intentional or a coincidence). The kids loved bouncing and really enjoyed the laser maze! It's definitely unfortunate that there is no A/C because it was COOKING in there, and refreshments were kind of expensive (this is after they drank the water we brought). They do have large fans but in the summer it doesn't quite cut it. We'll be back in October though! The staff were friendly and helpful.

Beacon Hill Park is a charming 74-hectare Victorian park in Victoria, B.C. It features beautifully landscaped gardens, ponds, and majestic trees. Visitors can enjoy the sight of peacocks roaming freely and relax by the bandshell. The park offers a serene escape for nature lovers and provides a picturesque setting for leisurely strolls or picnics. With its tranquil ambiance and natural beauty, Beacon Hill Park is a must-visit destination in Victoria.
Beacon Hill Park is near the downtown, easily accessible by walk if you stay somewhere in downtown Victoria. The park is well maintained and you won't feel dangerous while walking around the park. This park would be a perfect spot to take your morning coffee, walk around and get a nice morning breeze. The air quality is so good that you don't want to miss that. You can see Peacocks 🦚  on photos of Beacon Hill Park. Don't get disappointed or give up when you don't see them immediately when you enter the park. The park is pretty big and try to go through the middle and you should be able to find them near Beacon Hill Lookout on Google Map. The park also leads to the shoreline where you can take the stairs down to walk around the beach. Depending on your speed, it may take from 1.5 hours to 3 hours to walk around the entire park. But it's worth it.

Perhaps I've seen too little, but this park is the only place I've visited that has free-ranging peacocks. Of course, there are many other interesting wildlife besides peacocks. It's just blissful to hang out in the park and see all the animals and plants.

Beautiful park in the middle of downtown Victoria. There is a lot to see and a lot of tranquil pathways to tread through. I'm surprised that this park hosts peacocks, and they can climb trees! Amenities are plentiful, including several washrooms and two playgrounds. There is no shortage of parking spaces in and around the park as well. Definitely a great place to spend time in Victoria.

I love this park a lot! If you want to take a peaceful break from the daily grind, this park won't disappoint. There are ponds, fountains, ducks, geese, swans, peacocks, squirrels, deer and turtles! Green spaces and beautiful fauna and flora abound! There are washrooms and playgrounds for the kiddos, and lots of benches for weary accompanying adults. The only thing that Beaconhill really lacks is a designated off leash area for dogs (thus the loss of one star). That part I don't understand at all. Downtown Victoria is WOEFULLY lacking in off leash dog parks!!

A nice city park with many ponds, biking path and access to a beach. There were cute features around the park. I didn't see any homeless camps. The children's farm seemed clean ( walked passed by it and didn't smell anything). This park is accessible by a couple infrequent busses and about 25 minutes walk to downtown.

The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, located in the capital city, is a stunning landmark with ornate neo-baroque architecture and captivating artwork. Built in 1893, it offers guided tours providing insight into Canada's workings. Visitors can admire the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee stained-glass windows as well as the Memorial Rotunda's beautifully painted walls and dome. The building overlooks a scenic harbor, making it a must-see for anyone interested in history and architecture.
The Legislative Assembly in Victoria is not just a historical building — it’s a complete experience. The architecture is absolutely stunning and makes for a very photogenic spot. Whether you're taking pictures from the lawn outside or walking around the building, every angle is picture-perfect. The lush green surroundings and the harbor backdrop just add to its beauty. Inside, we were pleasantly surprised to find activities for children too. There were interactive displays and learning corners that helped kids understand how the government works in a fun, engaging way. It was both educational and enjoyable for the whole family. The souvenir shop inside the building was another highlight. It had an amazing collection of locally made items, from elegant gifts to fun memorabilia. Everything felt carefully selected — not the usual touristy stuff. We ended up picking a few unique keepsakes to remember the visit. Overall, the Legislative Assembly is more than just a government building — it's a place where history, beauty, and learning come together. Definitely worth a visit for families, history lovers, and anyone who enjoys exploring iconic spots in Victoria.

Visiting the Parliament Buildings of British Columbia was an incredible experience. I joined one of the guided tours, and it was both engaging and highly informative. The guide did a fantastic job of explaining not only the history of the building and its architecture, but also providing insights into how our provincial legislation actually works. It was fascinating to stand in the very place where laws are debated and passed. What I really appreciated was how welcoming the experience felt. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions, take photos, and truly take in the atmosphere of this important institution. The tour flowed smoothly and struck a great balance between historical context and present-day relevance. The grounds themselves are stunning with beautiful architecture paired with well-kept gardens makes the Parliament a landmark worth visiting whether you’re a local or a tourist. The gift shop also had a thoughtful selection of locally inspired items, which made it easy to take a meaningful souvenir home. Overall, I would highly recommend a tour here to anyone visiting Victoria. It’s not only a chance to see a beautiful heritage building up close, but also to better understand the democratic process in British Columbia. A truly enriching and memorable visit.

Went to see the parliamentary building. It opened in 1898 and had the same architect as the Empress. The style of the building is very nice and gives you a sense of the political importance of the building. It is free to visit. They offer free 40 minute guided tours or you can walk through yourself. I would recommend going if you are in the area. You can get through it pretty quick if you self guide.

We had a lovely evening exploring the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia with our family. The building’s grand architecture and beautifully maintained gardens made for a peaceful and scenic walk. A surprise highlight was a quick 15-minute horse-drawn wagon ride around the neighbourhood fun for the kids and a charming way to take in the surroundings. Though the building was closed for interior tours at that hour, the friendly staff and informative signage made the visit enjoyable. It’s a great spot for families looking to mix history, nature, and a bit of fun in a short visit. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Victoria!
Ananta P — Google review
The Legislative Assembly of BC is a truly impressive structure, with an interesting history. A design competition was won in 1892 by a young (25) non-architect by the name of Francis M Raffenbury. With no prior architectural or construction experience, he brought the project in on time and under budget. Completed 1898 for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. This guaranteed his local success and he went on the create other iconic Victoria buildings including the famous Empress Hotel. Turns out, he did not live up to expectations and he "escaped" Victoria, BC for Bournemouth, England where in 1935 he was murdered. The Parliament Building has guided and self-guided tours throughout the day and highly recommend the guided tour so nothing is missed in this massive building. Spectacular gardens were closed the day we visited. Each room open to the public has something interesting to view: massive domes, native exhibits, symbols of state, gift shop. Definitely should add this on your itinerary.
Roger T — Google review
You can spot the massive Canadian flag waving from afar — it’s practically a beacon calling you toward the Legislature grounds 🇨🇦✨ If you’d like to tour the interior, make sure to book in advance, and note that there’s no Mandarin tour available. But even without a reservation, the lawn outside is already worth the visit — soft grass, gentle breeze, and plenty of sunshine… the kind of simple moment that instantly resets your mood ☀️🌿

"A must-see in Victoria!" Walking up to the Parliament Buildings feels like stepping into a historic painting. The architecture is breathtaking, and the lush surroundings make it a peaceful yet grand destination. It's free to visit, family-friendly, and perfect for photos. Be sure to catch it both by day and night — the lit-up dome is magical after sunset. Whether you're a history buff or a casual traveler, this landmark captures the spirit of British Columbia beautifully.

Frankie's Modern Diner, located in the heart of downtown Victoria, is a casual haunt offering simple Italian and American comfort foods. The diner features homemade staples and handcrafted cocktails in a homey interior with a contemporary edge. The menu includes breakfast classics with a twist, such as eggs benedict, breakfast sandwiches, and omelets. With affordable brunch options and generous portion sizes, this diner stands out for its southern Italian fusion in classic dishes.
We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant. I'm not one to try new food, but I decided to do that on this trip. I've never eaten creamy sauce with my restaurant, but I have it a try, and the sauce was enjoyable, so much so that I stopped my focaccia bread in it to get that extra flavor in each bite. The strawberry lemonade was the best I've ever tasted, and I've had many different kinds in my life. My daughter and I both finished our meals, and I couldn't believe it because we usually have leftovers. We had about 10 wings, but I forgot to take a picture before we started eating them. Everything was delicious, from the wings to the dessert. Stephanie provided great service and kept checking on us to make sure we liked our food. She even mentioned that refills were free, so we were pleased to hear that because we've noticed that refills for strawberry lemonade aren't typically free here. All in all, we enjoyed the atmosphere, meal, and especially the service!

The place is quiet and calm. Staff are super friendly. Coffee is really nice. My only real complaint is the salad was way too small and the salmon filet was tiny for the price in comparison to other places, HOWEVER, it tasted very nice. We’d probably come back at some point.

We had such a wonderful family lunch at Frankie’s Modern Diner. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable - even with the kids in tow. The atmosphere is bright, cozy, and relaxed, perfect for a family meal. The food was absolutely delicious, generous portions, beautiful presentation, and packed with flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly and paired with fresh, tasty veggies and a rich, creamy poutine on the side (a big hit!). The spaghetti with meatballs was hearty and full of that comforting homemade taste, and the tomato soup was velvety and flavorful with the perfect balance of cream and herbs. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. The kids were happy, the adults were happy, and we all left with full bellies and big smiles. Thank you, Frankie’s, for giving us such a memorable meal, we’ll definitely be back!

My friend and I stopped by Frankie’s Diner on a whim to check out the menu, and we’re so glad we did. The dishes looked appealing, so we asked for a table—and were seated right away. Our server, Sky, was not only incredibly welcoming but also super helpful in navigating a couple of food allergies we had. Dinner was absolutely delicious, and what really stood out was the attentive service. Sky kept our drinks topped up with perfect timing, offering refills before we even asked (or finished our first round). That kind of thoughtful detail made our meal feel extra special. All in all, Frankie’s is a lovely spot for a bite—cozy, accommodating, and just plain enjoyable. Highly recommend it!

The café is right in the heart of the city, with large windows that offer a lovely view of the street—perfect for sitting by and enjoying the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the reviews. I ordered the vegan wrap and was served an uncooked in-house chickpea patty. While the staff did replace it with a cooked version when I asked, the initial experience with the cold wrap was hard to overlook. On the brighter side, my partner’s omelette wrap was delicious, and we were glad to enjoy a well-made flat white here.

Coming to Victoria for BC Day, we were a bit surprised to find that many places were either closed or closing early, which is different from what we're used to in Vancouver. We arrived at Frankie's Modern Diner around 6:51 PM, trying to be mindful of the staff's early closing time (8pm). We were so impressed that even at 7:45 PM, the team was still welcoming new customers! Our server, Austin, was absolutely incredible. As a family of five with two hungry and tired young kids, we were a little overwhelmed. Austin immediately put us at ease with his vast knowledge of the menu and helped us choose the perfect meals. It felt like he truly understood what we needed in that moment. It’s been almost ten years since our last visit to Victoria, and Austin's local recommendations helped us rediscover the city. He's more than just a server; he's a true host. What really stood out was his genuine care. He didn't just serve us; he connected with us. His attentiveness and genuine empathy for his guests make him a shining example of what customer service should be. Austin is a natural leader and an ideal candidate for a Team Lead or SuperHost training role. He has a gift for making people feel seen and cared for, and he'd be perfect for teaching others how to do the same. My youngest was so delighted when a kind female staff member (I wish I caught her name!) personally wrapped and delivered her cookie dessert (I know, all the cookies are wrapped, but my little one didn't know it!). It was such a small gesture, but it made her feel so special. Anyways, thanks Austin for your suggestions and again, happy belated Birthday!

Nestled in a 1.4-acre space, Abkhazi Garden is a captivating retreat established in 1946 by Prince and Princess Abkhazi. This enchanting garden boasts vibrant rhododendrons, native rocks, tranquil ponds, and a charming teahouse. It serves as a testament to the couple's love story and their dedication to horticulture.
A truly magical and unforgettable experience. We visited the Abkhazi Garden in Victoria, BC yesterday and were absolutely enchanted by its beauty, tranquility, and history. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt transported into a storybook — a peaceful botanical haven filled with charm and meaning. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and we want to give special thanks to Margaret, a wonderful volunteer who has been with the garden for 25 years. Her knowledge and passion were truly inspiring. She shared so many fascinating stories and historical details about the royal couple who created the garden, which added so much depth and heart to our visit. We were also lucky enough to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea at the charming Teahouse. The setting was delightful, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our waitress — a young woman whose name, unfortunately, we don’t remember — was incredibly sweet, graceful, and attentive. She added the final touch of magic to an already perfect afternoon. We can’t recommend Abkhazi Garden enough. It’s not just a place to visit — it’s a place to feel, reflect, and be moved by nature and history. We will treasure this memory and look forward to returning again soon.

The Garden Itself: Abkhazi Garden is truly spectacular, meticulously cared for, and brimming with charm. Its history—founded in 1946 by Georgian Prince Nicholas Abkhazi and his wife, Princess Marjorie—adds a fascinating layer to its beauty. Though the grounds may not be as vast as other gardens on the island, every corner is so thoughtfully designed that it feels like a living work of art, perfect for photography enthusiasts. The Tea House: The on-site tea house is a delightful spot for lunch or afternoon tea. The menu looks exquisite, and the popularity of the place (it was quite busy during our visit) suggests great food and service. However, reservations are a must, so plan ahead if you want to enjoy this part of the experience. Donation Policy: While the garden is officially free to enter, donations are encouraged—which is completely fair, given its upkeep. Unfortunately, our experience was severely tarnished by the way donations were solicited. We were literally stopped at the entrance and told we could not enter without making a donation first. This felt pushy, inappropriate, and entirely at odds with the garden’s otherwise welcoming atmosphere. It completely overshadowed our visit. A Suggestion for Improvement: A more respectful approach would be to mention donations at the end of the visit, after guests have had a chance to appreciate the garden’s beauty. I would have happily donated—and generously—after seeing how well-maintained and stunning it was. But being cornered at the entrance left a sour taste and made the experience feel transactional rather than welcoming.

A quite lovely and beautifully maintained local garden. The honestly impressive scope of plants and trees, among cascading lily ponds and large natural stone terracing, keeps impressing as you meander along the many intersecting paths. Simply wonderful. Be sure to get the garden's fascinating history from a volunteer, and donate what you can when visiting!

Very nice and beautiful place! We went on a trip, and it was our last day of vacation in Victoria. We were on a tight budget and wanted to enjoy free attractions. But to our surprise, even though the website says entrance is free, we weren’t allowed to enter the garden without first making a “donation over 10 dlls.” We felt a bit uncomfortable, as we didn’t have much money left. So I suggest that if visitors are not allowed in without donating, it would be more honest to list it as an entrance fee instead of calling it a donation. Other than that, it’s a very beautiful place.

Nice garden but would be nice if the plants were identified. Yes we can use our phone but would like to get the exact common name, botanical name and family.

Delightful little spot just tucked away a few minutes from downtown Victoria. Food at tea house was delicious. Nice selection of teas. Cute garden
B J — Google review
It's a beautiful historic walkthrough garden built by a couple in the 1900s. It's the same layout as back then, only the dead plants have been restored. As you enter, you're greeted, and asked to pay a mandatory donation of $10 per person. The walkthrough takes around 30 minutes, but can take longer if you take your time. It is very beautiful, and home to many trees and flowers. There is a person that answers questions for you, in the garden, and there are 6 zones to walk through. It's about 1 acre in size. I would recommend checking this out, however, it is a tad pricy for the length of which it takes.

The garden is spectacular and the tea time was beautiful and delicious. The young ladies serving the tea were delightful! I'm so glad we went.

Specialty Museums
Located at 744 Douglas Street in Victoria, The Maritime Museum of British Columbia offers a fascinating journey through the maritime history of the Pacific Northwest. Visitors can explore historical objects, art, photos, and models that showcase the region's rich maritime heritage. The museum also hosts engaging programs for children, introducing them to museum learning through themed activities like crafts, play, song, and dance. Additionally, visitors can witness the impressive maneuverability of Victoria Harbour Ferry during the Water Ballet event.
What a gem in the heart of downtown Victoria! Visiting The Maritime Museum of British Columbia on Community Day was an absolute delight. The energy was welcoming, the staff were passionate and knowledgeable, and every exhibit told a story that felt both personal and profoundly connected to the coast we call home. From beautifully preserved ship models to heartfelt stories of maritime life, the museum weaves together history, culture, and the spirit of the sea with care and creativity. The hands-on elements and interactive displays added something special—accessible and engaging for all ages. Community Day made the experience even more meaningful, with open doors and open hearts. It was a reminder that our shared history is worth preserving, exploring, and celebrating. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike—there’s something here for everyone, especially if you love the ocean and the stories it carries.

We loved our time there. It's small and not comparable to some of the larger maritime museums out there, but they're doing their best to keep the history alive for the rest of us. There was a temporary exhibit in one of the rooms about some long hiking trail and a pleasant young woman did some sea-oriented paper crafts with my wife. When I asked at the end how much it cost, she told us it was free. Just a really nice, welcoming experience.
Reg N — Google review
Very tiny little museum. The staff are lovely and the workshops are fun. They can't tell much history in their small space but the information provided on plaques does well to make sure everyone is represented. Their bookshop also has a diverse collection of maritime history books and fun stuff for the kiddies.
Sarah G — Google review
A very well-done albeit small museum in Victoria. The miniature ships are incredible in their detail. The only thing we missed seeing was any sort of acknowledgement of or exhibits on the indigenous maritime history.
Teresa F — Google review
It is quite small, but the admission reflects what is offered. There are model ships and some interactive rope tying and anchor stations. We were lucky to attend on a Saturday when a TOTS program was running, and our toddlers got to participate in some Halloween crafting (included with admission). The staff there are absolutely wonderful and engaging!

Its currently two big rooms at this new location . They got a mini kids area here . Its not the big amount of museum collection like at the old location but they are working on moving into a bigger location in future & the government needs to help them out better . I always love the maritime museum of Victoria and love supporting them 💗. They currently got a fishing exhibit on . The museum is LGTBQ+and wheelchair and pet friendly . And its free for kids under 12 and free for indigenous folks.

It was fun and a cheap price. But it's a little on the smaller side of exhibitions

I am not really a big boat enthusiast but decided to check it out when they had an open house on Victoria day long weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to see a fabulous art show at the back of the museum (see attached pics) so it was well worth the visit for me. It is very small but it would take quite awhile to read and listen to everything they had on display there.

The Pendray Inn and Tea House, located in Victoria's Inner Harbour, offers an elegant Victorian B&B experience with a charming tearoom that provides picturesque views of the harbor. This historic establishment beautifully combines British tea traditions with a touch of West Coast influence. Situated conveniently near popular attractions like Fisherman's Wharf and the seaplane terminal, it serves as an ideal stop for both travelers and locals seeking a refined experience.
My husband and I stopped here for Afternoon Tea, the scenery itself was beautiful and peaceful! Being able to sit out on the veranda, while sipping tea and seeing the float planes come in was so serene The tea and food itself was delicious! Everyone was incredibly pleasant and accommodating :) If looking for a quiet place to talk, this is definitely the place to be! Highly recommend!

My husband and I came back to our favorite place for afternoon tea to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Pendray House is historic romance. We love visiting and the staff is wonderful. Even given an extra special treat with our tea from staff to say congratulations. You are the best. Considering having our vow renewal ceremony on our 20th anniversary here. Can't think of a better, more perfect place 💕.

Decided to stay at the Pendray Tea House and Inn while traveling with my daughter, wanted her trip to be special, and let me tell you this Inn has not disappointed!! The staff is incredibly nice!! The breakfast in the tea room was delicious and perfect. The concierge at the front desk is nothing short from being the most polite and welcoming guy!!! As we leave every morning for our adventures he gets excited to hear where we are going and what we are planning for the day, and the tea room staff are so sweet and very attentive to any needs you may have.
Alicia H — Google review
Great treats and tea at the afternoon tea service! Lovely staff, too. The gardens and house are gorgeous and feel like a step back in time. The music at the time we went, though, was a little odd. Of course classical music was expected, but we did not expect to hear the graduation march, wedding procession song, and the 1812 overture one after the other. Gave us a laugh, anyhow. Highly recommend!

Avoid !! We were excited when booking this old Victorian hotel but were quickly disappointed… You cannot check in at the Pendray at 6 pm… gotta go to the adjacent hotel without anyone explaining how to join the lobby. Main problem : the toilets in the room were broken when we arrived (apparently no one checked it before our arrival), we directly called the lobby and the toilets were supposed to be repair 15 minutes later. When coming back from dinner 2h later : nothing was made, the receptionist said it was : quote "a minor inconvenient" and we were offered to use the public bathrooms… We were not offering another room but needed to ask for it… toilets were functional but main switch was out of order. We had not one single excuse from the employee or the hotel manager. No commercial gesture were made. Conclusion : really not worth the price ! We found an other Victorian style hotel (Beaconsfield Inn) which was cheaper, with better service and better room !
Bastien — Google review
We went to the Pendray for high tea. I had never experienced a High Tea before, but if this is typical I haven't missed much. The cucumber in the cucumber sandwiches was crispy, but they were the highlight of the savoury plate. The scones were light and fluffy but with barely enough clotted cream for one scone, and it was supposed to be shared by 2 people for four scones. The sweets were hit and miss with a custard tart that was inedible. The old house is beautiful.

My son and I celebrated our birthdays with High Tea. It was fantastic - worth every penny. AND, what's more, they even surprised us with an extra slice of cake with a candle. Highly recommend. And it was especially nice that we could sit outside on the deck.

Beacon Drive In Restaurant is a beloved, long-standing diner in Victoria, offering a nostalgic atmosphere and exceptional food. The friendly staff ensures that every customer feels welcome. Families love the mouth-watering burgers and hotdogs, which can be ordered from the classic outdoor window. Situated across from Beacon Hill Park, it's an ideal location for a treat after a day of fun.
We came here looking for a traditional burger; what we got was a traditional burger, but it was the most satisfying traditional burger we've had. Sometimes it's the simple things that make things awesome. The burgers had everything you needed -- lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, mustard, bacon and patty. These ingredients work so well together. Beacon has perfected this combination at an affordable price. You also have the option to upgrade your drink to a milkshake. Both milkshakes were rich, creamy and had the right sweetness. We recommend this to anyone who wants a burger as it was meant to be. It may be off the touristy areas but the trek there is worth it.
Karl C — Google review
I got the veggie burger and a cherry slush, I loved the patty! Different taste from other veggies burgers I’ve tried. Others in my group enjoyed the sandwiches and onion rings, but the fish products were not it. I didn’t try the ice cream but it looked amazing. We took our food to go and sat in the park across the street.
Taylor K — Google review
Ordered a small fries and small choc dipped cone. The fries were surprisingly good, super crispy (battered almost?) hot & fresh. The actual cone was small, like mini size, but a decent amount of ice cream given it was a size small. The taste of the ice cream was odd, didn’t taste like normal soft serve ice cream? And it didn’t melt much for a hot day. Now I’m reading other reviews saying it’s mostly whipped cream. That explains it all. Also fyi - you have to spend minimum $10 if you’re using credit card, but under $10 is ok if it’s debit/cash.

Went here on our pedicab tour of Victoria to try some ice cream and poutine. I may have to move to Victoria just for the poutine here. So good! The ice cream was delicious as well.

The Beacon Hill Drive in is a wonderful little spot. Located by the beautiful Beacon Hill park, it is the perfect place to grab a snack. The prices here are very reasonable and the food is quite good. The fries are delicious! I'll stop here for just the fries. The ice cream and milkshakes are supposed to be really good here, I haven't tried due to a dairy intolerance but many people have told me it's top notch. The atmosphere it comfy cozy and a little old school vibes. The patio is nice even if it's chilly since there are heaters out there. The best part is that it is open late! One of the few eateries open late into the night for all your cravings.

11.55 for a hot dog. I'll let you see the dog. No toppings to speak of. Fries are great though. It's disappointing that 12 bucks can't get you a decent hot dog today...

Used to come here as a kid and loved it, but not only do they not really actively advertise their buns have sesame seeds, a common allergy, but I also ordered a chick Swiss and bacon burger and this was my bacon, this place USED to be great but seems it has become an outright joke as of late, very disappointed:/

This place had been around for more than 60 Yrs, have eaten here before but not for a dozen Years or more, so wanted to give it a try again. We had the Halibut burger with Rings and Fish & Chips. Halibut was a generic patty not homemade to my knowledge and the fish looked to be your every day run of the mill fish you get out of a box in the freezer section at your local Walmart store. Definitely nothing special as expected it would be in a Ocean Side locality..Soft Ice Cream was very good however.

Victoria Public Market at the Hudson is a historic downtown market located in the Hudson building in Victoria. It offers a wide range of locally-produced goods, including gourmet foods, handcrafted items, and live entertainment. The market features vendors offering farm-fresh groceries, handmade pies, French bakery products, oils and vinegars, fresh flowers, specialty retail items, and gourmet food services. Additionally, it hosts a day vendor program showcasing Vancouver Island's artisans and makers.
Really good selection and all great quality! There’s an Indian place, roast, pasta, sandwiches, pies, coffee, Mexican, vegan ice cream. All great choices but my favourite is the pies and the pasta! Good seating too and. Quick walk downtown.
Celeste K — Google review
I was expecting a Vancouver-style market with a variety of groceries, food, and desserts, where you can also sit down to eat. While this market does offer all that, it's much smaller than it appears in photos, with only about 20 cafes. It isn't too crowded, but the atmosphere is lacking, and it doesn't feel very cozy. That said, the food served by the establishments here is still great.
Anastasiya L — Google review
It's a cute market. It didn't have too many businesses when I visited, which is a shame because it's a great location.
Ashleigh — Google review
Neat find, right above Chinatown. Lots of locals popping in for lunch. Less of a market, more a co-op kitchen/food court. Will definitely go back and take my kids as we love trying new cuisines and some of the options aren't available where we live. Wish there was a bit more to it, more of a destination and mix of shops and restaurants.
Lynn J — Google review
Not a real "public market", the name is deceiving. To be a true public market include some of the numerous and excellent farm vendors every weekend - for a small cut of their sales - to provide a truly unique shopping experience for residents and visitors. As it is now, mostly overpriced drech and un-inspiring food offering. I don't recommend it. It has potential but not under its current mandate. The Victoria Public Market is not on my recommendation list for family, friends or visitors. Again, "public market" is a misnomer. Don't expect a St. Lawrence or Granville Island experience and you may find an over-price bite to eat. Or a place at least to get out of the weather on a rainy day.
Chad D — Google review
Maybe in 5 years this place can be cool. Way worst than the milwaukee ( Wisconsin) public market. Nothing like pikes place beside the letters being red. It is mostly empty and food vendors. The place is trying.
Lily — Google review
This market has a little bit of everything! Including a coffee shop, wares, and several food stalls (Italian, Asian, Indian, pot pies, sandwiches). I’m looking forward to trying out all the different food stalls. The market is open from 11 AM to 8 PM so a great place for lunch or dinner.
Lisa — Google review
I am glad this is just across the street where I stayed in. The name and website is definitely mis leading and definitely not a market that you can shop or look around. There a food vendors and if you want something like Indian food to eat. Go for it. Otherwise not worth of your time seeing.

Great service each time I've eaten here. However make sure you give ample time for the to prepare the meal. Don't expect it to be ready in less than 5 minutes but it's definitely worth the wait and you want to take the time to savor the food. Hands down best parmesan garlic 🧄 fries 🍟🤤

Great place for a quick meal, but popular for both take-out and dine-in, so expect wait times regardless of which ... popular with locals and very busy. Good breakfast sandwich. They also offer good selection of burgers and home-made milkshakes (wish we could have tried 1, but we were there for breakfast ... next time!).

When I arrived, there were 2 customers in the store already seated and eating. I was greeted by friendly staff who promptly took my order. $15.90 for a chicken burger, a bit high, but I’ve been told it’s delicious. Burger was ready in less than 5 min and I got it to go. Everything was great… then I opened my burger. Wow, disappointing. It was as if the cook had used a canon to put together the burger. All the lettuce and sauce was on the outside of the bun, and the pickles and tomatoes, instead of being evenly distributed, were stacked like Jenga on one side of the bun! Good thing it came with lots of napkins, they were well used! I cannot attest to how many orders had come in remotely, or for pickup, but more care in burger preparation is severely needed at this location. I’ll try again, if there is improvement, I’ll update my review. Otherwise, I’ll stick with less rushed and more careful vendors. The food was great though, albeit messy, just the preparation needs attention…

Still thee best hamburger & fries in Victoria! Excellent tasting paddy with lightly dressed chopped lettuce, thin tomato & dill pickle between wonderful fresh bun. Served with hot fries. No messy cleanup. All compostable! Love It.

Came in today for milk shakes was told the debit was down and advised to use the app. We placed our order and sat down, 30 minutes later we go up and ask the eta as people after us were getting their orders. The shakes were done and sitting for 15 min with no call out for our order and our order was never removed from the new order Que screens. Soupy milkshakes…. no offer to remake as there was a miscommunication this isn’t the first time service/food has had miscommunications disappointing

Prince of Whales Whale & Marine Wildlife Adventures is a popular whale watching company located in the inner harbor of Victoria. They offer a variety of boat tours, including 3-hour zodiac and covered catamaran whale watching tours, as well as combination packages with other attractions. Additionally, they offer gift cards at a discounted price, making for a perfect present for adventure seekers.
What an incredible experience! Our tour guide, Mark, was extremely knowledgeable and kept us informed and engaged throughout the entire tour. We saw at least 20 different humpback whales, many of them surfacing close together, which made for an unforgettable sight. In addition to the whales, we spotted Steller sea lions, harbour seals, and even bald eagles. Prince of Whales provided insulated jumpsuits, tuques, and gloves—all essential for the crisp morning air. The gear kept us warm and comfortable, allowing us to focus fully on the wildlife. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. A truly memorable adventure!

Had a fantastic afternoon with Prince of Whales! The rest of my crew went to the gardens and high tea, but I got a ticket for a Prince of Whales tour, and it exceeded my expectations. We saw Minke, Orca and Humpback whales, along with a ton of sea lions and some sheep! The naturalists onboard (Janae, Megan and Eden) were super knowledgeable and friendly, excited to answer any questions. First Mate Sandy was really great, too, and pointed my lens towards interesting things several times. And Captain Richard handled the boat very well, taking us close (but not too close) to whale locations. I was just on an 11-day Alaska cruise, and this was the best thing I did! I highly recommend Prince of Whales. It was also the least expensive excursion I took; a real bargain! Thank you very much.

This is a must try if you spending some time in Victoria! We went on a Caterham boat 🚢. It between 3 to 4 hours whale tour. You can also choose the speed boat looking boats also if you are the adventurous type! Reid and Megan were very knowledgeable about the animals we encountered. We saw hump back whales, California seal lions and harbor seals. We found it easiest to book online compared to by the boat kiosk. They also take tons of pictures so you can just enjoy the ride without worrying about taking pics. They seems like their the only company to offer this. It makes experience relaxing.

An unforgettable whale watching experience! We went out with Prince of Whales on September 29th at 12:30, and it was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Huge thanks to Captain Richard, First Mate Sandy, and the amazing naturalists Michael, Reid, and Megan for making the trip so fun, educational, and memorable! We covered about 49 nautical miles and saw Orcas, humpback whales and tons of wildlife around Race Rocks, including sea lions and harbor seals. The crew’s passion and knowledge really made the experience special — they were always eager to share insights and made sure everyone got great views and photos. If you’re visiting Victoria or Vancouver, this is a must-do adventure. Thank you, Prince of Whales team, for an incredible day on the Salish Sea!

This was a fabulous way to spend an afternoon. I was hoping to see Humpback Whales and Prince of Whales did not disappoint. We saw many Humpbacks and then an Orca (Janet Nielson) showed up and it was like a Christmas miracle (he's rarely seen). The crew (Megan and Janae) were informative and knowledgable and Michael provided fabulous pictures afterward (included with the price of the trip). A must see and do when visiting Victoria. PS Captain Richard and First Mate Sandy did a great job too.

Incredible experience. The team is super knowledgeable and friendly and they are passionate about what they do and conservation of marine species. Escape room center
At Quest Reality Games - Room Escape, you and your companions can enjoy an exhilarating experience as you work together to solve puzzles and find your way out of a locked room before time runs out. The themed rooms, such as ancient Egypt and the sorcerer's lair, offer a series of challenging steps that require teamwork and quick thinking. Whether it's for a fun date night or a birthday party activity for kids, this escape room provides an engaging mix of physical puzzles and intricate details to unravel.
Had so much fun doing an escape room here! Check in was easy and the puzzles were tricky but not impossible. Super immersive theme. I want to go back and do another!
Emma S — Google review
I went to this escape room twice in two days and both times the experience was poor. The first night we did Rosewood Manor and solved a clue many times over but the mechanism failed to unlock. When we called for help more than once, we were told to keep working on the clue, until finally someone came and couldn't get it to unlock either and reset the mechanism from another room. Hoping this was a glitch, I took my daughter the following day for Victoria Noir. We were not able to solve the whole puzzle and so we asked the staff person what we missed. He was vague and it became clear that he did not know how to solve it. When I asked for someone who could tell us, he said there was nobody and that we had to leave so he could set up for the next group. We waited outside for quite a while but nobody came to the front desk. The staff needs to be trained better. Very disappointing experience, the worst we've had out of many escape rooms in Canada and abroad.
Carol C — Google review
A fairly disappointing experience. Recently went for a birthday celebration with my partner. The room broke and didn’t trigger a lock properly despite the puzzle being completed correctly and the “unlock” sound being triggered. Similarly several locks used mechanisms we had never seen before. We input the right combinations but couldn’t get the lock to open. Given that you are instructed to only gently apply pressure on objects, we didn’t want to push on locks in ways that they don’t normally receive pressure. Resulting in another solved puzzle that we didn’t get the reward for. There were lots of other design issues that I found really negatively impacted the experience. We did have fun but the fairly major game design failures resulted in us spending a lot of time looking for additional clues when we had in fact solved all (or most) of the puzzles already. The host was very nice and apologized which we appreciate, however I would not recommend going here. Lots of little design issues that made it not an issue of solving puzzles but one of worn out and odd equipment choices. I have been to many escape rooms and have never seen one with such consistent issues throughout.
Dyllan G — Google review
If you're good at finding items in your house, you'll have an easy time solving these "puzzles." The escape rooms are high priced for low quality rooms, and only 1 of the 4 rooms has a negative completion rate. Plus, as a walk-in, you are not given any opportunity to potentially choose what room you want. The staff members at all times had attitudes or were just genuinely confused as to what was happening. In our room specifically, they go into great detail on how you shouldn't touch or mess with a specific item only to then have the solution to be messing with the item in question. Without solving this "puzzle," we still managed to escape the room with like half the time left. When this happened the staff member was very snobby with us (just a side note if 1/3 puzzles was guessable its a bad puzzle) This was seriously an hour to solve 3 "puzzles" that were all pretty simple. Having been to the escape rooms literally 2 streets over, I would greatly recommend going there instead as the staff were friendly, the puzzles were challenging/better quality, and it was cheaper! Do not waste your money at Quest Escape rooms!
Kira K — Google review
The rooms are alright but definitely older. We lost probably 5 minutes due to electrical issues in the setup. I have been to a lot of escape rooms and this lands in the middle of complexity and would have been cooler if things were a bit more refined and not falling apart.
Alec S — Google review
I've done tons of escape rooms, probably 20+ and this was easily one of the worst escape rooms I've ever done. We did the Victoria Noir room and it was incredibly poorly designed with cheap triggers that didn't actually work. Some puzzles seemed they were not properly reset, so they were just open when we got into the room. When we solved the puzzle to actually open these things we could hear the trigger activate but couldn't figure out what was opening! No gamemaster chimed in to apologize and set us back on the right path and instead let us waste our time trying to figure out what was supposed to open. Faulty electronics aside, the room required huge jumps in logic to solve and we left confused on how we were even supposed to use some of the props. The gamemasters themselves seemed to be overworked and overwhelmed. The hints we got were horrible and when we left they barely spoke to us. Horrible escape room experience - I'm sure there are much better in the area.

Good experience but way overpriced; we did the Egyptian escape room as a group of 5, paying $157.50. We were done in just over 20 minutes. When the final door opened we were all shocked that was the end and there wasn't another puzzle to solve. The escape room was also in complete darkness and they give you little lamps to carry around to find things. This seems like a cheap attempt to make the experience harder by making it difficult to navigate rather than by making the puzzles clever.

Staff was polite and helpful. However they cut us off before our hour was up, but we started late. Then they didn't give us extra time despite having to wait several minutes at a stand still while they found bateries for our black light flashlight. We had the right answer for the last question but the lock would not unlock because they're using some strange lock you have to push in and pull out. Would not recommend the Rosewood Manor. We came away very disappointed with iur experience

The company offers daily departures from various locations within Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Visitors can enjoy 3-hour whale watching tours in open zodiacs or covered boats, with the option to combine the experience with attractions like Butchart Gardens.
I'm thrilled to share my unforgettable experience with Orca Spirit Adventures in Victoria! Their zodiac tour was truly an experience of a lifetime. We ventured out onto the Pacific Ocean, feeling the rush of the wind and waves as we explored the stunning coastline. The wildlife sightings were incredible! We were lucky enough to spot 2 majestic humpback whales, multiple playful seals, and several bald eagles soaring overhead. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate, sharing insights into the marine ecosystem and ensuring our safety throughout the tour. The thrill of being up close and personal with these amazing creatures in their natural habitat was exhilarating. I highly recommend Orca Spirit Adventures to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure in Victoria. Five stars isn't enough – this tour exceeded all expectations!

Today, me and my fiancé went on the zodiac whale watching tour. It was an incredible experience! Our skipper Shannon and her husband Josh on the other zodiac were super skilled, knowledgable en respectful towards everything in the ocean. We loved that so much! We were lucky to see 10+ humpback whales and they showed us everything they got (full breaches, tail slapping and trumpeting). It was such a special experience! We would highly recommend taking this tour. Special thanks to Shannon and the whole team!

We saw so many whales! Courtney & Ryan were incredible hosts; very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information as we travelled. Well worth the time and money. The boat was clean and safe. Booking & check in was very easy. Part of the ticket price goes to local conservation funds. There’s complementary tea, hot chocolate, and water. They will email us photos of the whales we saw, so we didn’t feel the need to take a lot ourselves. We sat downstairs, inside, and it was warm & dry. We also got to see a lot of seal lions, which was actually a highlight. Even if you think you won’t get sea sick, bring some gravol just in case. If you sit inside downstairs, you won’t need a waterproof jacket or warm clothes. If you sit outside & upstairs, it’s cooler and wet, so dress in layers. I brought binoculars, but didn’t need them. When you check in, you’ll be told to wait in the store or hang around the local area, they’ll call you. We didn’t get called and almost missed the trip, so make sure to hang out by the dock. Bring some cash for a gratuity at the end.

Our experience with Orca Spirit Adventures was amazing! We were able to see several humpback whales and the sea lions were a great surprise. The scenery and sunset were a great way to end our trip. Thank you to our guide Phoenix for this amazing experience!

Had a wonderful experience with Orca Spirit! We had Sofia, Jake, Joan and Kristen as our naturalists and they were so knowledgeable and clearly loved their jobs. We saw lots of whales, seals and beautiful views. Highly recommend. Sofia, one of the naturalist I got to chat with quite a bit, even took beautiful photos that have been shared with us now. Thank you Orca Spirit for a great experience ❤️

One of the best things we’ve done in our three week trip in western Canada. Our tour guides Vicky and Gareth were great - loads of facts, spotted a lot of wildlife and pointed it out, good on safety etc. We had a super lucky trip on World Orca Day, and saw orcas, hump back whales, a bald eagle, and a humming bird. Really exciting tearing it across the bay (safely of course) and it all felt like a genuine highlight of our trip to Canada.
Daniel L — Google review
Initially I kept thinking why this experience is so expensive. My husband insisted we go and boy I am glad he did! It was worth every penny. Not only did we get a wealth of knowledge but an amazing navigation of the boat to get the best view of the whales. We saw a lot of humpbacks as well as sea lions. We even received professional photographs of our experience and sightings so we got to just be in the moment without worrying about documenting any of it. Thank you to the wonderful team - Gordon, Ed, Amanda and Jake!

The experience was just incredible. I went for a 3 hours tour with them and some friends in August 2025. We saw 3 wonderful wales showing off every 5-15 minutes. At the end we also saw many sea lions. Was wonderful! I recommend a lot them to everyone who wants to see wales in Victoria. The crew was also amazing, especially Amanda who is super sweet and gave so many nice informations to all of us about the wales. She is awesome. Ryan was also great, but he was focused to another group (upstairs group) while Amanda spent more time downstairs with us. Thank you, guys!! We loved it all. 🐳♥️

Fisherman's Wharf Victoria is a charming cluster of floating shops, eateries, and homes located on the south side of the Inner Harbour. It's a great spot for families to spend a few hours, offering various dining options such as fish and chips, ice cream, and fresh seafood. Visitors can arrive by taking a Victoria Harbour Ferry or by walking in from Dallas Road or St. Lawrence Street. The vibrant colors of the houses make for a picturesque setting.
This Fisherman’s Wharf is truly amazing, bursting with vibrant energy and scenic beauty. This lively waterfront spot is famous for its delicious fish dishes, like crispy fish, chips.... fresh seafood tacos, served at colorful food stalls. The views of sparkling water and bobbing boats create a charming atmosphere. we love the playful seals and bright houseboats. It’s perfect for a relaxing stroll with a tasty meal. The only downside is paid parking, which can be a bit pricey. Overall, Fisherman’s Wharf is a must-visit for great food and unforgettable seaside vibes. Will visit again.

Fisherman’s Wharf in Victoria is a must-visit, especially if you’re with family. The location is simply beautiful — right by the water, with colorful floating homes and a laid-back atmosphere. It’s a great place to stroll around, take pictures, and enjoy the ocean breeze. We stopped at Barb’s Fish & Chips, one of the well-known spots there, and the food did not disappoint. The fish was super fresh, crispy on the outside, and juicy inside. They offer a good variety too — fish, prawns, calamari, and even options for those who don’t eat seafood. The portion size was good and everything tasted great. There’s plenty of outdoor seating, and it's perfect for families with kids. Watching the boats and sometimes even seals near the docks makes the visit even more fun. Overall, a great place to relax, eat, and enjoy the scenic views of Victoria.
S_uzair — Google review
Such a cute, beautiful spot to check out! You can see fish, see enemies, jelly fish and sometimes seals! Cute little shops and some good restaurants! It was busy but everyone was kind. The homes along the dock were so cute and the residents were so sweet! Definitely check this place out! Parking is a little bit tricky to find. It costed $10 for 2 hours of parking but still worth it!

Fisherman’s Wharf in Victoria never fails to impress me with its colorful, lively, almost fiesta-like atmosphere. 🌈🎉 I’ve been here multiple times and each visit feels just as fun and vibrant as the first. My very first time was with Aunt Fely and Uncle Tony, and most recently I came back with my co-travel nurse Claire. It’s the kind of place where you can stroll around, soak in the waterfront charm, and enjoy the unique floating homes, food stalls, and fresh seafood. 🦞🌊 What I love most is the energy — it’s relaxed but festive, making it a perfect spot to bring family, friends, or even colleagues for a memorable day out. Definitely one of Victoria’s gems that keeps me coming back.
Sheika F — Google review
An iconic place in the city, specially attractive and lively when the weather is good. There is a food court with a good variety, places where you can book whale watching tours and you can also take the water taxi here which will take to downtown. I was impressed by the amazing and unique boat houses.
Ana T — Google review
Fisherman’s Wharf at Victoria is one of the must place to visit. Grate place to have a meal or light snack. They have good Mexican, fish and chips and ice cream place in the area. One of the key attractions here are the colourful floating houses. You can take water taxi from here. The wharf is accessible but foot from the downtown area or by a bus. The area have seating area for meal. There’s also a nearby park if you want a less noisy place to enjoy a meal. There’s also washroom in the area. What would be nice is if they install a drinking fountain in the vicinity or even in the park nearby.

Walking the exact same path my parents visited 30 years ago made this stop extra meaningful — like stepping into their memories. The cutest floating homes line the water, and every now and then a tiny water taxi cruises by… it honestly feels like a fairytale “floating village.” 🏘️💙

Cute spot. Very lively (live band/good music) and a good selection of eateries. We took the water taxi over to Chinatown which was my favorite part. The houses at fisherman's wharf are so cute and quirky. I wished you could walk the docks to see them up close.

We were recommended to come here by a friend. it is geared for children and/or adults although I would say that there were more adults than children in this tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about dinosaurs and we had an enjoyable visit. The guide passed around a few fossils to touch, and it was a really cool experience to be able to see some fossils that are millions of years old.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at the Dino lab today. If you’re looking for somewhere to learn, amazing facts about dinosaurs and see some really cool and unique things and this is the place to go. Our guide Owen was incredibly knowledgable and super personable. We were actually the only people there and got to have our own private tour! It was so incredible. I can’t say enough good things About the Dino lab. Honestly, it’s worth taking a trip to Victoria just to check it out, which is what we did.

I had the 90-minute dinosaur tour and it was absolutely amazing! The whole experience was packed with fascinating stories, hands-on activities, and incredible fossils. My guide, Owen, made it even more special — he’s passionate, funny, and super knowledgeable. Owen shared so many fun facts about different species, from how they lived to how scientists discovered them. He was also very patient, answering all my random questions and making science sound exciting and alive. Highly recommended — I left with a huge smile and a head full of dino facts! 🦖✨

I arrived together with my 8-year-old son, Connor, who absolutely loves dinosaurs. At the entrance we were greeted by Owen, who also guided our tour. I was asked to store my bag in a locker with a lock, and we entered the exhibits area. Owen was very attentive, you could tell he's extremely knowledgeable in the field and he knew how to read my son well and focus on the things that fascinated him. It was very interesting for me too. We got to touch many exhibits and hold them. We got to see real work on fossils, and even try it ourselves! My son didn't want to leave. Many thanks to Owen and Dino Lab Inc for a wonderful experience. Definitely the highlight of our visit to the island.

We loved the whole experience and our tour guide Jake was really amazing! We had so many questions and he was able to answer all of them really well. Extremely short walk from the parking lot. Single lane rough road of sorts leading up to a parking lot. Good viewing area and that's it. The building wasn't open and I'm not sure it ever is. I could not find any signs indicating if the building is open to the public. Bit of a waste of time unless you went strictly for the view No tickets required, no wait in the viewing area. You only need about 10 minutes to see everything Garbage can in the parking lot.

Be aware that the seasonal artisan market allows resellers (vendors selling items they have purchased elsewhere at wholesale or imported cheaply). Which is unfortunate because some vendors are local creators. Ask before you buy.

Beautiful open view of the ocean. Great place to have a bike ride or take your fur babies🐕. There are stairs approximately 400 meters apart leading down to the beach below. Amazing place for pictures for sure, especially sunsets. Plenty of people trying to get in their vitamin D and exercise, so remember to be mindful of your distancing. Perfect place to view the sunsets, that being said, we were late to view it. It was cloudy but the sun was visible at points. It was our first time here, found it by fluke as we were leaving one destination for another and saw the sun break through the clouds and wanted a vantage point without all the trees that line the sides of the road. Seemed to be a popular place as it was somewhat filled in the upper and lower parking lots. Would definitely love to come back and relax and watch the sun cross the sky. Would recommend stopping in and take in the view of the city and the skyline..

Right now, the gardens are well maintained with excellent paths and occasional maps (essential as any useful landmarks are hidden by the greenery)

We visited as the rhodos and magnolias were beginning to fade and the peonies had yet to burst open, and yet there was still much to see. There were more varieties of rhododendruns here than I have seen elsewhere. The paths here are wide, level and smooth, so accessible. Its a small and tranquil garden with some well-placed benches. We easily passed a pleasant hour here and will come again.

Free admission to the garden, and on Sundays there is free parking as well. Beautiful plants and very peaceful.

Very pretty place to enjoy grad. I had lots of fun and found lots of places to take great photos. The flowers were all in bloom and everything was green and healthy! I loved all the different environments that were put together!

Finnerty Gardens is a quiet, contemplative gem tucked behind UVic’s academic bustle. It’s best known for its stunning collection of rhododendrons—over 500 varieties—which explode into colour each spring. The winding gravel paths, shaded by native trees and dotted with benches, make it ideal for slow walks, reading, or quiet reflection. It’s not manicured like a formal botanical garden; instead, it feels natural, serene, and deeply Pacific Northwest. Downsides? No signage or facilities—it’s meant to be wandered, not toured. And while spring is peak season, it’s peaceful year-round. Still, it’s one of the most calming green spaces on the Island, perfect for a reset.

Beautiful garden to visit. Free of charge. Will take about an hour to go around. We'll maintained.

Oceanfront park with a sandy beach, picnic areas, playground & tennis courts, plus a boat launch.
Grassy field with kids play zone and a beach. Onsite bathrooms with ample parking. Kids area has a large sea monster and octopus as well as a zip line. Beach strip but it’s normally covered in fallen washed up logs. Good spot to spend a afternoon

Greet park, lots of room to rum around. The views of the water are beautiful. My girls loved the octopus, and the playground equipment. The zip line was long but a bit slow. Lots of things to climb on. The bathrooms were clean. A lot of ducks and dogs in the park. Only the dogs were on leashes.

A perfect spot for an ocean view, early meditation, yachts anchored against the shore, flocks of geese gossiping about the weatherman and children exploring the sea creatures installed on the playground. Pebbles are casted on the beach, the wood pieces of art, the breaking of the tides, calming down, washing away sorrows, burdens, everyday’s troublesome moments. The family friendly park is a walk, bicycle or bus ride away. Totally worth the trip!

Just perfect location for spending your weekend with your kids as there lots to do for kids including sand and sea. The day we visited was perfect neither hot nor cold so it was a superb experience for us. Food stalls even make this location more perfect for spend time.

Nice beach can be busy at times. Best playground for kids, there is something for every age group. I loved it when I was a kid, all 4 of my kids have loved it. My recent visit proved that it's still a favorite with kids. Best bathroom facilities around or neck and neck with Mt Doug beach. Easy beach to navigate if you have mobility issues. Overall great place to comes with the whole family there us something for everyone.

Nice sheltered bay for swimming, the beach is not too rocky. There’s a great playground for kids and grassy areas for play as well as numerous picnic tables and benches. Parking during the week is pretty easy, but I’d imagine the lot gets pretty full on weekends. There are shops just before the entrance so you can stock up on items for a picnic right there or grab a coffee for your stroll. The picnic washrooms were as clean as would be expected for a park, not too bad at all.

Awesome park for kids and adults alike. There's a huge play ground area with sea monsters and a giant octopus. There's also a large grassy area to play in. And to top it off a beach only steps away. The beach has excellent sitting logs and soft white sand. 10/10 enjoyable. Also, the parking lot gets busy but it's quite large so there's usually a spot opening up just as you're arriving if you're lucky. Restrooms are also on site for when you gotta go.

Always a good visit to Cadboro-Gyro park. Easy access by #11 UVic bus. Tide goes way out, sandy, rocky bottom, shelter calm water but COLD! A dunk sure wakes you up:). Large area with picnic tables, playground, restrooms/change rooms, and ample free parking. There's a small shopping area close by for food, snacks, drinks plus dining opportunities. One of Victoria's best beaches.
