Nature & Parks
Harrison Park is a 40-hectare natural sanctuary located in the heart of Owen Sound, offering a refreshing escape with its streams, playgrounds, trails, and gardens. The park also features the Black History Cairn, paying tribute to the city's first Black settlers.
It is a beautiful park and suits to all ages people. You can walk, bike. You can watch salmon come back. If you like, you can walk to Ingils' waterfall.
Lucy Z — Google review
Bird sanctuary is gone. Was looking forward to showing our granddaughter. Waterfall behind pool is closed off. Weeds along the riverbank are not trimmed anymore so you can’t see the river unless standing up or go into it. Park Bathrooms are cleaned well. Pool is nice but outside groups overtake it at times. Cabin is way overpriced for what you get. No bathroom, no air conditioning. Not clean. Bugs and dirt on inside window ledge and dirty outside.
Ruth R — Google review
The last time we were at Harrison Park was for mini golf on Father's Day. That was a lot of fun. We'd also intended to go paddle boating but decided to put that off for another day. That day was about a month later, and again, we had a great time.
Spirit B — Google review
Serene family, exercise, nature walk oriented park. Harrison Park is a perfect destination to take kids to play, seasonal mini putt golf, paddle boat rentals, restaurant and snack bar. Nothing fancy nor new in the way of play equipment but very much an ode to the tradition of recreation in nature any time of year. A treasure in the middle of the small city of Owen Sound.
Martha H — Google review
I went on vacation to Owen Sound and I went to Harrison Park. I was absolutely blown away by just how much is here in the park. Trails, restaurant, pool, camp ground, parks, basketball court, senior center, spot for local vendors, mini put with paddle boats and access to canoes. Overall exploring was very fun and I got to do a lot of things as I spent about 4 hours here. I highly recommend this place and even more so if you're vacationing or camping in the city.
P.J. B — Google review
A beautiful park, lots of free parking. They have a playground, bathrooms and a restaurant. The Sydenham river flows through it, very beautiful. There is a trail that leads you to Inglis falls. Takes about 1.5hrs but we'll worth the hike. The park seems to be very popular is the nice weather.
Brent — Google review
We reside on O.S and own an RV rental business. Our primary service is delivering, setting up, and tearing down RVs for guests who book at Harrison Park Campground. Although there's only one pump-out station which may require waiting. The park is family and pet-friendly, offering numerous playgrounds, hiking trails, and a pool, consistently garnering positive feedback from our guests. We've personally visited the campground; the restrooms are always clean, the campsites are level, making it easy to set up our RVs. There's plenty to do and see. I highly recommend the restaurant at the park's entrance. KMP RV Rentals will spend the entire summer at Harrison Park, ensuring our guests have a wonderful time visiting our city.

This is a must-see place if you visit Owen Sound. With lovely walking/biking trails, bird sanctuary, playgrounds, beautiful streams, basketball courts, picnic tables, restaurant (both takeout and to sit down), boat rentals, swimming pool, and campground, this 40-hectares-plus space is an urban dream. A wonderful place to spend the day.

Public beach
Kelso Beach at Nawash Park is a versatile destination that offers a mix of natural beauty, history, and recreational opportunities. Situated at the mouth of the Pottawatami River on Georgian Bay, this park was originally Anishinaabe territory before being transformed into a community park in 1982.
During my recent visit, I discovered a hidden gem of a park nestled alongside a stunning beach. The park's pristine surroundings and well-maintained facilities left a lasting impression. The washrooms were clean and well-equipped, providing a sense of comfort and convenience. It's always a relief to find such well-maintained amenities in a public park. The highlight of this park was undoubtedly its location by the seaside. The beach was immaculate, offering a serene and picturesque setting. I enjoyed taking a leisurely stroll along the shoreline. Moreover, the presence of a water playground specifically designed for kids added a delightful touch. Families with children can enjoy a fun-filled day by the water, making it an ideal spot for a family outing.
Morteza B — Google review
Small but it's nice. There's parking area and washroom on site. Beach on site is shallow, and there's Splash pad with playground, good for younger kids.
Nin H — Google review
Kelso Beach Park is surprisingly clean and the water quality looks good. I like that it’s not too crowded here. The beach part is somewhat small but looks great. There is a playground there for kids and a splash pad. The washrooms are okay, at least there are no line ups.
G E — Google review
Kelso Beach stands out with its peaceful and uncrowded atmosphere. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the tranquility. The beach has clean facilities and convenient parking. The park also features beautiful trails surrounded by lush greenery. The sandy shoreline and clear waters of Georgian Bay make it a stunning destination. it also provides a small playground for kids to enjoy. This additional feature adds to the overall family-friendly experience of the park.
Alaleh F — Google review
Best place to have fun while you are travelling through town. It has clean washrooms and splash pad for kids to play with.
Nirav P — Google review
Nice park to hang out and enjoy the weather or go for a swim. Nice little amphitheatre where you could listen to live bands. There is a splash area and lovely green spaces to pop down with a picnic blanket and relax for the day.
Rissa H — Google review
Beautiful clean and quiet park. Park is very nice. Children’s playing area also nice. Beach water is really crystal clear. Also Less crowded place. It’s recommended to all type of ages. It’s fun place to be around. There is little park for kids with some slides and swings. They would enjoy this environment.
Vaibhav P — Google review
Coming through Owen sound on a camping trip we were delighted to come across this jewel of a waterfront park. Ample space for the kids with a new splash pad and classic but we'll maintained playground. The comfort station was clean and well laid out. The beach is simple but a good chance to play and cool off. The outdoor amphitheater looks to be a nice venue for entertainment and events. Classy job Owen Sound!

Amusement center
Story Book Park is a family-friendly amusement park with a variety of activities for all ages. The park features 11 rides, a tour train, mini-golf, a haunted house, and three playgrounds. Additionally, there is a water area with waterslides and a splash pad. Visitors can also enjoy interacting with animals such as llamas, deer, bunnies, and chickens. The park offers picnic spaces and is pet-friendly.
So happy we came across this sweet little place! We came with my 5yo daughter and it was perfect for her age. Lots of little rides, water slides, play areas, animals and reasonably priced snacks and food. It's nestled in a forested area so there is lots of shade. Highly recommend!
Amanda V — Google review
Great place to take the kids too!! Food not that expensive for what you get same with entry fee. Your able to go in and out so you don't have to bring everything with you. Rides are good for wees ones, not really for teens but still a good time. Wish there was more animals but still over all good experience. The Haunted house should explain a tad more about the exit, but still a fun time during that. Splash pad and water slides are a good way to cool down after mini putting and the rides. Will 100% bring the kids back!
Katelyn R — Google review
My kids 4 and 7 love this park so much. My elder girl could do all the rides and the younger one could also do 90% of them. There are also water slides, splash pad and animal to feed. The park could keep the whole family busy for one entire day. The staff of the water slides did an excellent job making sure kids are lining up in order and every kid is safe. One thing to note is that adults are not allowed to go down the slide with the kids. Another thing that impressed me very much was the price of food and drinks there. Many things were selling at just a few bucks. They even welcome you bring outside food. Parking was easy. You could also go back to your vehicle any time to get things. I went back to get my swimming suits so that i didnt need to carry them along the whole day.
Jaq W — Google review
Super clean and kid friendly park. I would say the average age of kids attractions would be good for 3- 10. Any older probably wouldn't appreciate the simplicity of the rides. Price at concession is very reasonable and lots of clean places to sit in the shade. I really appreciate how they have such mature trees that keeps the park very shaded. Being quarters if you'd like to feed the deer or goats. Being water gear for the splash pad and water slides which are generous with their age requirements. My 3 year old could go on all 2/3 slides and had a blast! Well life guarded (when they aren't socializing with their friends which is my only complains! - they are just teens or young adult though). Lots of spacious change rooms and clean bathrooms. You pay $1 extra for the mini putt which is reasonable. A really nice and relaxing day for the family. Lines are short if any and that is lots of staff around. You can bring anything you'd like into the park, so pack a cooler and stay the entire day.
Stacey K — Google review
Small park that offers big fun for younger children. The park is based on children's stories and has several amusement rides, 3 waterslides, a restaurant, snack bar, lots of seating throughout, several parks, haunted house, a train ride, goofy golf, goats and alpacas to feed. All of it is in a loop that's mostly well shaded and is not overwhelming for parents with small children. We bought a season pass this year while visiting the cottage.
Sarah B — Google review
This is our first time visiting. Our favorite area was the spash pad and the water slides. The park has lots of areas to picnic and the rides are simple and fun. It is more geared for younger children but my 10 year old found it fun enough.
Sher R — Google review
I was told about this place recently and decided to take our 5 year old and 15 month old sons. We were all pleasantly surprised by everything this place had to offer! Tons of age appropriate rides, a mini petting zoo, picnic tables and BBQs for personal use, a water park and concession stand. We spent well over 4 hours here and it was worth every penny. Very affordable will be going back again next year!!!
Jalan G — Google review
I came here as a child and haven't been back for 17 years. It has grown and changed a lot, but that small town charm is still there! My son had the best day - he loved feeding the goats and deer, watching the rooster, riding the train, and looking in on Santa. The food prices are very reasonable, and the rides are all included in the admission price. We'll be buying season passes next year!

Specialty Museums
Located in the former residence of a renowned WWI Victoria Cross air force pilot, the Billy Bishop Museum stands as a historical haven. Constructed in 1884, this museum offers visitors an opportunity to delve into military heritage. With an informative tour that covers both local history and military events, the well-informed guides ensure that every question is answered. Its intimate setting allows for easy listening, creating a conducive environment for knowledge sharing.
Billy Bishop is a Canadian patriot, a legendary pilot who served Canada during the First and Second World Wars. Whether you are Canadian or an immigrant, a visit to his house is a must to learn about his remarkable background. Located in a peaceful neighborhood in Owen Sound, the house, despite being around 120-130 years old, still retains its charm. For a mere $5, you can explore the house and make your payment conveniently by credit card or cash. The first floor of the house is filled with glimpses into Billy's childhood, showcasing family photos dating from 1894 to 1956. You can even admire his handwritten letters, offering a personal connection to his life. As you delve deeper, you'll discover more photos and letters recounting his youth and his time as a pilot when he moved to Toronto and served Canada during the First World War. Billy's courage and finesse have made him popular not only in Owen Sound and Canada but also in the United Kingdom and the United States. In fact, he even owned a house in the U.S. During World War II, Billy had the honor of personally meeting Winston Churchill. Feel free to capture videos and photos for personal use, as they are permitted at no additional cost. On the second floor, you'll find a museum dedicated to Canadian patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight against adversarial forces in Afghanistan and Iraq. Their photos, videos, medals, maps, and valuable information pay tribute to their bravery. Canadian soldiers have made significant contributions to democracy and civil rights in Afghanistan. I highly recommend a visit to Billy's house for everyone. We may even plan another visit soon to continue exploring this extraordinary place.

Date of visit: Tuesday June 24th, 2025. A Fascinating Tribute to a Canadian Hero If you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about Canada's past, the Billy Bishop Home & Museum in Owen Sound is a must-visit. Set in the birthplace and childhood home of Air Marshal William Avery “Billy” Bishop, this National Historic Site offers a deeply personal and inspiring look at one of Canada’s most decorated war heroes. Bishop, a World War I flying ace and recipient of the Victoria Cross, played a pivotal role in shaping Canada’s military legacy. The museum is filled with authentic artefacts, including uniforms, medals, photographs, and aviation memorabilia that trace his journey from a small-town boy to a national icon. The home itself is beautifully preserved, featuring Victorian-era furnishings that give visitors a glimpse into early 20th-century life. Exhibits also explore broader themes like Canada’s role in both World Wars, the contributions of First Nations soldiers, and the local war effort, making it a rich and layered experience. The staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, and the $5 admission fee for adults is a steal for the depth of history you’ll uncover. Just note that the museum is closed on Sundays, and street parking is available nearby. Final Thoughts: Whether you're a local or a traveller passing through, the Billy Bishop Museum is a thoughtful, well-curated stop that honours a true Canadian legend. It’s a quiet gem that leaves a lasting impression. We were inspired to check out the Billy Bishop grave in Owen Sound as well.

Very informative museum. It has great depiction of all the details. Must visit for kids.
Hari M — Google review
super cool piece of history. it's a beautifully decorated victorian style house on the main floor. on the second floor they have a few different exhibits.
Supreme T — Google review
Quiet little museum, focusing on Billy Bishop naturally, as this was his childhood home, but also other aspects of local military history.
Tony S — Google review
Staff member on duty didn't say much. Just let us walk around. Cool Victorian home with a lot of information about this war hero. The computer displays were all non functioning as was the fighter simulator which was disappointing. Otherwise, I would give it 5 stars.

The Tom Thomson Art Gallery, affectionately known as the TOM by locals, is a must-visit destination in Owen Sound. It pays homage to the life and art of Tom Thomson, a highly regarded Canadian artist from the early 20th century. Renowned for his captivating landscape paintings and significant influence on the Group of Seven, Thomson's deep connection to Canada's rugged wilderness is beautifully showcased at this gallery.
I visited April 2025. The gallery is by donation only or free with a library card. My parents and I spent about an hour going through the 3 exhibits. If you're in the area I would highly suggest visiting. There are also a ton of tourism pamphlets if you're not sure what to do in the area.
Daniel H — Google review
A beautiful quiet gallery that contains some incredible pieces of art. Not just Thomsons but a rotating exhibition. I was told that the exhibition rolls over about 4 times a year so plenty of reasons to come back again and again. The man at the desk was very kind and helped me find a couple of paintings I was looking for. Please check this place out.
Jay T — Google review
It's very small and PYWC. I'm not a fan of Group of Seven but I'm not sure a fan would enjoy it as there were only a handful of Tom Thomson's work. More space was given to newer artists; possibly defined as "contemporary." It's a lovely little diversion but temper your expectations. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Sandhya P — Google review
Thought provoking, inspiring, impressive,... A nice little art gallery featuring the work of Tom and other artists who went on to found the Group of Seven. Other displays by current day artists too! Splendid!

The Weaver's Creek Falls Trail offers a delightful waterfall experience, despite its officially closed status since June 2023. A dilapidated boardwalk connects the parking lot to the falls, requiring caution due to significant rot and disregard for warning signs. The trail itself is relatively easy and allows visitors to reach the fallen tree before entering private property.
Weaver’s Creek Falls is such a peaceful little gem in Owen Sound 🌊🍂. The trail is short and easy, perfect for families or a quick walk, and it leads you to a beautiful hidden waterfall surrounded by nature. I’ve been in both fall and winter, and it’s amazing how different it feels — in autumn the flow is powerful with colorful leaves all around, and in winter it transforms into a frozen wonderland ❄️✨. Definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring Inglis Falls or Harrison Park nearby!
Rob P — Google review
Waste of time, clearly it's close. It has this orange cone closing the boardwalk going to Weaver's Creek. Drove miles only to see this sign. Just beside the Pool. Not sure how others manage to visit there with this sign.
Nin H — Google review
Nice waterfall with a easy trail. You can go as far as the fallen tree before you are on private property. Go towards the pool in Harrison Park and stay on the trail to the right of the pool.
Chantal — Google review
Smaller than Inglis falls but still nice. Watch out as you walk. It seemed a little rotten the trail boards but it was still nice.
Anthony E — Google review
What I appreciate most about Weaver's Creek Falls Trail is its tranquility. Despite being a relatively short hike, it feels like a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The trail is not overly crowded, allowing for moments of solitude and reflection.
Marco_GDS — Google review
When we visited, the trail head next to the outdoor swimming pool at Harrison park was still closed . Entry to the park is free and there's a nice playground for kids to kill time as an alternative to hiking the trail
Erbium — Google review
Its a little upsetting to see the spray paint graffiti on the tree, and bothing being done about it.. It's an absolutely BEAUTIFUL spot, virtually unspoiled, save and except for the graffiti
Sean M — Google review
I loved the falls however the trail to it was officially closed, June 2023, there is a board walk to it from the parking lot which was in very bad repair. I ignored the pilons and the caution tape but be very careful, much of the board walk is dangerously rotted.

A pretty nice beach near Owen Sound. The water is calm and shallow, so it is a perfect spot for canoeing or kayaking
Matt — Google review
Great spot, just a jump away, I do wish areas of the beach were cleaner, though.
Justin M — Google review
Hibou has two distinct sides: beach side and bush side. The beach is nice - shallow water for the kids with fine sand. Tables, benches, grassy/shady spots. Change rooms and toilets. Lots of room on the beach if you’re looking for some privacy. Basically the farther you get from the parking lot, the less people. On the other side of the road are trails and boardwalks through the verdant, boggy parkland. There is a connection from the Hibou trails to the Tom Thompson trail. We live in Owen Sound and regularly go to Hibou to walk the dog. Very nice park, highly rated for tourists and locals.

Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is a versatile sports facility in Owen Sound, offering top-notch hockey action with teams like the Owen Sound Attack and The Greys. In addition to hockey, it hosts lacrosse games featuring the Flying Dutchman Junior B Lacrosse Team. The arena provides ample seating with stadium-style chairs and convenient parking options. It's not just a sports venue; during the pandemic, it served as temporary emergency hospital space.
Definitely one of the smaller rinks for an OHL team that I have been too but the amenities and the atmosphere made up for it. Volunteers who do the ushering were very personable and quite willing to have a conversation with an opposing team's fan. Overall a very good experience!
Tom C — Google review
What a great facility. Owen Sound is lucky to have a great ice surface and venue for so many events. You often see people walking the concourse when events are not happening and it was used as temporary emergency hospital space during the pandemic. I have been to Attack games and have an opportunity to work events like stars on ice with the spotlight team.

There isn't a bad seat in this house. Great spot to watch OHL hockey. The parking could use some work. I'd recommend arriving at least an hour before game time. The staff are very helpful and likes for the concession, while long, move quickly. Enjoyed the experience.

Low ceilings and tight seeting. Even vertically challenged people have no leg room. Everyone is rubbing elbows. Accessibility washroom isn't that accessible and only one washroom has a change table. No outdoor patio or smoking area. Once you enter, you can't leave.

Such a cool experience playing a game here at this arena. The seating is plenty and are stadium type chairs which was a nice surprise. Parking at rear of building or out front but limited as it’s downtown collingwood. I can’t recall if there was a canteen open here but there is so much in the area being downtown that if it’s not open you’re close to many things. My son still talks about the game he had at this arena and how cool of an experience it was for him.

The Bowling Alley is a great place for kids' birthday parties, offering an easy and enjoyable experience with everything provided. The staff are wonderful and the price is affordable. While the food was good, some visitors found the wings to be lacking and the drinks not up to par. However, many praised the fantastic service from the staff and had a blast at their children's birthday parties.
Awesome time as always!! Amazing warm fun family environment filled with bowling, an arcade, laser tag and so much more including fabulous staff members and a really cool new cotton candy machine we had to try out!!!

We celebrated a friend's 44th birthday at The Bowling Alley in Owen Sound, and it was an absolute blast! A small group of us bowled 10-pin for two hours, enjoyed a couple of drinks, and savored some delicious pizza. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, making it the perfect spot for a fun night out. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, including the restrooms. We even had the chance to mingle with other friends who were there, adding to the festive vibe. Whether you're planning a birthday celebration, a casual night out, or just looking for some fun, The Bowling Alley in Owen Sound is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend!

John is an absolute Gem ! Brought my family in for a nice afternoon of bowling and playing in the arcade for my son’s Birthday. It was empty when we got there but not for but not for very long . they have updated inside with an arcade, laser tag , currently working on another neat addition for the arcade area, would absolutely recommend coming here for a great time and a very reasonable.
Cody T — Google review
The Owner John has always been generous, especially to my kids. The retro feel of the alley is awsome with all the old arcade games. Never a dull moment and always a good time. Also, THE BEST WINGS IN OWEN SOUND...PERIOD! Only a buck a wing. Don't waste your money elsewhere.

I appreciate that they don’t nickel and dime you. We had a minor issue with the machines but the people were happy to extend the time without any charge. So overall very positive

Friendly and very helpful staff. Great place for fun. Lots of leagues to join to make friends and have some laughs too. Family friendly environment. Golf simulator, billiards, arcade, laser tag and child’s play centre area - something for everyone. Fantastic birthday party place. Highly recommend.
Paul C — Google review
I have been there for a work event. I am taking one star out just because I found the 10 pin balls were really heavy. The majority were 8-12 lbs and the one that was lighter than that kept being used by the majority of people. By the third game I got pretty sore. I think if lighter balls were available I would’ve enjoyed it more. Either than that it is a nice clean place.
Laura H — Google review
Paid 300 plus tax for 5 kids to play 3 rounds of laser tag, 1 large pizza 5 soda pops and 5 cup cakes. You do the math because I did. Only there hour and half. 1hundred for lazer tag over 200 for 1 pizza, 5 pops and 5 cup cakes.

The YMCA is the best!! Clean and bright building, up to date machines, friendly knowledgeable staff (who are happy to leave you alone if you aren't needing help, lol). A variety of classes offered. YMCA Owen sound was great ! We went on New Year's Eve (my son's bday ) for a free party for the new year ! It was so much fun ...from ice skating to swimming and Lego building ! We'll definitely go back for a fun day soon !

Great facility. Set up nicely. Lots of room and lots of space for kids and parents for hockey.

One of the best YMCA I have been a member of. Family fun time in the gym and pool are favourites. We also had an awesome birthday party here for a group of 4 year olds. They had a blast !
Nikki — Google review
Love the rec centre, wide variety of things to do,sadly not enough rec/family swims with both pools available. Hard to find times to take the family swimming because my 3 year old isn't allowed in the cold & my older kids don't like the shallow warm, only the cold deeper pool.
Justin M — Google review
I was there for a minor hockey game. The facility was very clean. Good ice and benches had lots of room for the coaches and players. The player gates worked well. Staff was friendly. Odd seating setup for spectators. It was elevated at one end of the rink only (above the dressing rooms) which meant that you were very far away from the action at the far end.

Bright and clean arena. Great parking and room to move inside. Excellent tournament venue. Be sure to get your coffee from "The Sisters Cafe" on the premises. Premium coffee at Tim's prices and no waiting in a drive-thru!!!! Congrats Owen Sound on hosting a good weekend.

YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce, Health, Fitness & Aquatics is a community-focused nonprofit offering recreational programs and services for all ages. In addition to its indoor swimming facilities, there are heated outdoor pools at Harrison Park and splash pads at Kelso Beach and Nawash Park. The staff is praised for their hard work in ensuring safety, although there's room for improvement in certain areas. Visitors commend the professionalism and helpfulness of the team members.
An excellent new YMCA in the Owen Sound area. Staff members were very accommodating and helpful. The workout areas were busy but clean. Wasn't a fan of how the cardio and weight lifting areas were laid out. The pool looked modern and clean.

A huge variety of equipment, pool, walking track, rink, yoga/studio space, snack bar, sauna... This gym has everything you could want & a super friendly staff. Great selection of courses too. Lucky to have them in our community!
Katie B — Google review
This gym honestly sucks. The equipment and stuff is clean and good, but it is always busy and people and staff let kids run everywhere, even up in the gym area. I've seen little kids using machines in flip flops. The weight area is basically men only because the gym does nothing to welcome women in these areas, when they could easily making the smaller stretching area women only, they already have benches and weights there or set an hour for women only. The pool is completely inassecible to anyone that works, the managers are rude to staff in front of customers. I've had several men approach me to mansplain that im doing something wrong even when I have headphones on and fully reject it. Honestly if this wasn't the ONLY location in Owen Sound that worked for me I would have left ages ago. The only redeeming quality is that the front desk staff is very nice and kind and professional, even when they are every other faculties and customers punching bag.

Excellent facility. Lots of classes. Friendly well-trained professionals make fitness fun! Always clean. Enjoy the coffee area and met new friends to gather there.

On the weekend the gym closes at 3pm and before that it was 2pm. I think alot more families would have memberships if the Y was open until dare I say 9 😆 🤣 The Y is a great facility but I think they're leaving alot of money on the table due to limited hours, especially on weekends when families have more time to spend with their kids.

Becker Shoes Owen is a family-owned Canadian shoe store that has been in operation since 1933. With fourteen stores across Ontario, it continues to be run by the Becker family. Customers have praised the top-notch customer service, with staff going above and beyond to help find the perfect shoes and even offering great deals on other products like men's underwear. Visitors appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide a pleasant shopping experience without feeling rushed or pressured.
Have bought shoes there since 1974. Name may have changed over the years but the staff stays as friendly and helpful as ever
Debi G — Google review
I dropped into the OwenSound store on July 6/25 and was greeted by a friendly store clerk “Kim”. I explained to her that I have type 2 diabetes and was experiencing trouble walking due to some pain issues. She had me stand on a machine that analyzed my stance and it indicated the pressure points on my soles of the feet. She quickly provided an array of sample shoes to try and advised to include an inner sole arch support as recommended by the machine. Kim’s expertise was very helpful in choosing a proper style and fit. It’s been several days now and I’ve been able to walk about town pain free. I highly recommend Becker Shoes and Kim for the great experience. Harry Winter

Great experience! The staff was so friendly and helpful. I wasn't rushed out or pressured into a shoe that wasn't just right. Staff was very knowledgeable about their products. I had a pretty good idea what I wanted and the associate helping me was very kind and helpful whilst helping me find the perfect fit. Will go back in the spring and definitely recommend!

The staff is Owen Sound are amazing, they always are there if you need help. My favourite shoe store in Owen Sound, most of my shoes and boots come from here. They had so many styles and colours to choose from, I could be in there for says trying to decide what to get.
Kristen H — Google review
Came for the shoes; stayed for the jewels! Noelle helped me replace my Skechers but then I noticed that Beckers stocked the Australian men's underwear brand, 2UNDR. Beckers' 3-pack is a huge bargain compared to online prices. Sure, you can buy "The People's Underwear" at Walmart and the like BUT if you are active and want "the boys to stay home," run to Beckers for a pair of 2UNDRs. Imagine . . . in Owen Sound!!!
Jack N — Google review
Amazing! I went in with a question about Birkenstocks and Vickie solved all of the problems! Absolutely top notch customer service. Vickie went above and beyond to help, I honestly couldn’t have left there more pleased. I learned that the manufacturer doesn’t stand behind their product but Becker’s, as a retailer, definitely stands behind their customers. Hands down the best service I’ve ever received from a retail store. Will go back again and again.
Amy — Google review
My wife went in to Beckers Shoes knowing what she wanted. There was one female staff person in the store and no other customers at the time. My wife was not greeted but went over to the shoes she wanted and the staff person followed from a distance and kept looking at her but said nothing. My wife felt very uncomfortable as if she was being watched like a criminal. Needless to say my wife left. On her way out the female staff lady waived at my wife through the window with a sh&t eating grin. Conclusion, completely unprofessional. From the other negative other reviews I have read there seems to be a trend with service and staff personalities. Needless to say we will never buy from them again, nor will we recommend them to anyone. In fact the opposite; do not patronise, to not purchase. It’s time for another shoe store in town.

Historical landmark
Centennial Tower, situated at the end of 9th Ave E in Owen Sound, offers panoramic views of the city and harbor from its spiral staircase. It is conveniently located on the Bruce Trail, providing access to Harrison Park and Inglis Falls with stunning natural formations along the way. While some visitors have noted graffiti and maintenance issues, many appreciate the historical significance of the site and its accessibility near an ice cream parlor.
The tower has a nice view of Owen Sound. The trail has beautiful views of the escarpment. There are quite a few homeless people sleeping in the woods just off the trail, so be aware of that. No parking fee.
Chantal — Google review
Unfortunately the tower was closed for repairs the sign said until 2025 so we were unable to see the scenic view advertised. to add to that their is an unfortunate amount of trash and debris below along the trail smashed glass amongst them making it a not so pleaseant walk.
Haunting V — Google review
Status Update: -As of August 2024, the Centennial Tower is still closed until Spring of 2025. If you're coming here for a scenic view, you should avoid this landmark. -However, if you're an avid hiker, this area can be a great starting point if you like hiking long distances (10km+). The Centennial Tower connects all the way south to Harrison Park via side trails and Inglis Falls via the Bruce Trail. If you follow the Bruce Trail From the Tower all the way to Inglis Falls and hike back to the tower, the total hike is about 15 km. My Father and I finished the hike (Hiking from Centennial Tower to Inglis Falls and back to the Tower) in 6 hours. -The only warning I'll give is that the initial 1-2 km hike from the Centennial Tower to Inglis Falls can be difficult (which is why I gave this place a 3 star rating for hiking aspect). More below. Directions (For Hikers): -To get to the Centennial Tower Bruce Trail, I recommend parking at the "Centennial Tower Parking" lot (located directly south of Centennial Tower - it's public parking so no charge). Follow the trail (outlined on google maps) that extends from the Parking lot to the Bruce Trail and you will find the Centennial Tower at the beginning of the Bruce trail. Trail Difficulty (Moderate-Hard): -This trail will be split into 3 "zones": a) The initial 1-2 km zone (stony), b) the Harrison Park zone (forest and cool), and c) the Inglis Zone. -Once you see the closed off Centennial Tower along the Bruce Trail (marked by blockades and tape), you can continue following the Bruce Trail as that route is not closed off. -The initial 1-2 km hike from the Tower along the Bruce Trail is relatively difficult. Photos are posted below. Simply put, the trail is not blazed well. Fallen stones from weathered rocks are littered along the entire 1-2 km trail, so you must wear good Hiking footwear since the trail is not flat and meanders a lot. Some of the stones are loose too so try not to rush through this initial trek. There are relatively steep inclines that are covered with stones so make sure to take your time and bring trekking poles for stability if needed. Additionally, the Bruce trail may also deviate into 2 directions which can cause confusion (hence the trail not being blazed well). To prevent confusion, keep your eyes peeled for the white Bruce Trail markers on the trees and you will be fine. -After the initial stony trek, you will transition into a relatively flat forest zone. Improvised maps may be seen on trees to help guide you, but just follow the Bruce Trail if you want to hike to Inglis Falls. This trek relative to the initial 1-2 km hike will be easy and you should take the time to enjoy nature here! -Eventually, you will see signs leading to Harrison park via the blue side trails. I personally did not take that trail though. -As you continue following the Bruce Trail, you will eventually see some posted maps on trees with detailed directions on the Inglis Falls Conservation hiking trails. At this point you're now in the Inglis Falls zone and the hike will be very easy and friendly for everyone! There is however, 1 tough stony-trail closer to the Inglis Falls scenic area (that area will be clearly marked on the maps posted on trees) - it will be similar to the initial 1-2 km trek from the Tower but if you can overcome that trek, this small stony patch at Inglis will be easy for you! -If you parked at Centennial Tower like me, you'll have to backtrack from Inglis Falls. There may be looping trails if you take the Harrison side trail, but I did not risk it. Hope this guide helps any prospective hikers! Summary: -Centennial Tower - not recommended for scenic view until spring 2025, but recommended for avid hikers as Bruce Trail connects Centennial Tower to Inglis Falls (and Harrison Park) -Total Hike from Centennial Tower to Inglis and back (15 km) -Total Time: ~6 hours (including breaks, pictures) -Initial 1-2 km trek is stony, so make sure to bring proper hiking attire! -Follow the White Bruce Trail markers from the Tower to Inglis!

There were few parking spots, or else you had to park a bit farther on the side of the road; it was also a bit confusing since it was kind of hidden. You have to take the path behind the owen sound sign, not towards the electrical tower. It was okay overall; once you get to the tower, it's a narrow spiraling staircase to the top. We spent maybe 5 minutes, and I would recommend dropping by to check it out if you are visiting.
Brian T — Google review
Great platform but the tower itself is blocked. So this beautiful fall day, I made a special stop here to see the canopy of fall colours, and was denied by a permanent gate on the entrance to the tower. Neat hiking trail on the escarpment though.
Paul A — Google review
Nice view of the town and the bay. Good job covering the graffiti Easy to access by the Owen Sound sign with an ice cream parlor right there (cash only). Nice stop along the Bruce Trail with access to Harrison Park. Lots of history to the site.
Jon K — Google review
The tower is great, good for family. However, the trail is not suggest to children and beginner levels, need to wear proper shoes for trail.

The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library offers a variety of learning opportunities for kids, including access to the Tom Thomson Art Gallery and Billy Bishop Home & Museum with updated library cards. The library features a spacious and beautiful environment with a great children's level, helpful staff, and cozy reading nook next to a fireplace. Visitors praise the warm and inviting staff who break traditional librarian stereotypes, as well as the excellent children's area and programming.
Shout Out to: CHRISTINE, ERIN & TIM for helping me with my library card renewal to finding me books on Hawaii (Kauai IZ my dream destination to learn how to surf with Mlle Bethany Hamilton) I am currently here today, Monday, March 18th typing this well deserved review and I find Serenity Now peace at one of your tables

I was absolutely shocked to see that the Owen Sound Public Library charges $500 per year for a non-resident membership. Most libraries in Ontario charge $25 to $100 for non-residents, and many allow people who work or go to school in the area to join for free. Even large libraries like Hamilton only charge $100 per year. This fee is completely unreasonable and makes library access inaccessible.
Colleen Z — Google review
A fabulous library experience. The staff breaks all of the "crusty librarian" stereotypes of yore. Everyone is warm and inviting and incredibly helpful. The children's area and its staff and programming are the best I've ever encountered and we've visited a multitude libraries in major cities and small towns alike. This library is a true gem!

Amazing staff, fun activities for kids and babies, and a great selection of books. But a few things…. Homeless sitting on steps (smoking, swearing) and setting up tents in the gazebo across the street. Entering library but just loitering in front entrance. The city needs to address the poverty problem and take care of these people so they don’t set up camp in family friendly spaces.

Wow! This place has so much information, displays, gift store and outdoor exhibits of a little town. It’s very interesting and has lots to look and interact with different display’s. Enjoyed the outdoor town and you can go in every building. Gravel walkway and beautiful. Each building you enter has a character to tell you the story of the building. They will answer all questions, it is beautifully set up. So much knowledge. I would definitely go back!

Stopped by on a whim. This place has a really neat Dino exhibit and local history. I learned a lot. The displays included history on the area’s historically black neighbourhood that was forced to relocate by the local military base and Canada’s cultural genocide of Indigenous people. The displays have obviously been put together with care. There was some interactive stuff for kids throughout the displays. My husband and I spent 2 hours looking at stuff and didn’t even see the historical village. Very cool and great price! I’m excited to go again to see the rest.

Accessible, clean environment with displays and artifacts relevant to the county. Don't let the appearance from the road mislead you, it can appear kind of run down due to the parking lot condition but inside is great.
