This is MOTOWN so there's not much to say because the history speaks for itself. To see and hear about the history in person was a great experience. There are plenty of facts to learn about Motown that will surprise you. To see the original items and hear the back stories is captivating. Viewing the wall with the album covers was interesting because I still have 11 of those albums. The staff was courteous and friendly. The tour guide kept you informed and interested throughout the tour. They are in the process of expanding, so it will become even more intriguing.

So I really wanted to give this place five stars however be aware that it is a very short tour and when they have accomplished their new building I am sure I will be coming back to edit. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and we definitely learned a lot. My aunt who I was there with is high functioning autistic so people sometimes dont notice and I felt like the tour guide was a little short with her. The tour I believe last less than hour and the end of it getting to walk through such an iconic studio is very cool. The gift shop is well stocked and what made this place was the knowledge of the tour guide. I feel that with out her I would have not really learned much and as I said even though she was a little short with my Aunt I will not take away from her knowledge, her enthusiam, and cadence was superb.

Pure history! highly recommended. By tickets in advance is a MUST. In 2024 i tried to walked-in 4 tickets and they were sold out!. This year 2025 i got my tickets in advance through the web site and it was easy and affordable. There are guided tours only but they give you enough time and space to walk around, enjoy the exhibits and take pictures. No videos allowed. Street park and highly get the app before your arrial time, i had luck and found a free parking spot in a nerby street. You can feel the history in this walls, it is an amazing life experience. I dont recall the name of my guide but he was so easy going, fun, entretained, the best.

Absolutely essential to visit. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. And a performer in the best possible way. Thought we knew alot but learned so much more! Also. A woman on our tour had worked there in the early 1970s. This was her first return... 2025!

Such a historical beauty! The neighborhood is well maintained. While we did not go inside, the grounds were manicured and the staff appeared to be engaged with the customers in a positive way. Side street parking is available, but there may be a short walk on a busy day. Do not park in the funeral home parking lot next door. I admire the work being put into maintaining this historical gem.

I did the tour and it was very interesting. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and fun. The history was amazing and hearing the stories brought the place to life. The grounds were well kept and really made you feel the vibe of Motown. I learned so much and would highly recommend the tour.

The first time I came to the DIA I was suprised to see they had a native American wing. Michigan is home to a few tribes. Was bummed to see nothing about the local tribes there. I asked a docent " you have so many local tribes one being the largest remaining tribe in the united states and there is no mention of them " is there some reason why? I know most museums repatriated a lot so injust said i think your really missing out on showcasing the art of the ojiibwe the rest of the annishinabeeg tribes. Some ofntheor art and embroidery is stunning. That was in 2023. 2025 im on public radio and I hear your opening an exhibit of a contemporary indigenous ojibwe artist? Wow. That's really cool im impressed. I love the DIA but now I really dig ya! Keep on getting better and giving me good reasons to come in. By the way their open sketch is way cool! Beautiful building filled with great art and historic artifacts. Only spent 3 hours in there so I didn't get the chance To explore the whole thing, it's definitely worth another trip or 2 to really take everything in. The Cafe was super busy by the time I got hungry so I skipped it but it looks like a nice relaxing courtyard to take a break in if you're planning on spending the whole day there. The Diego Rivera mural is truly a masterpiece. Shout out the lovely Michelle at the front desk!!!

It was a dream of mine to visit this museum one day. I finally got the opportunity while visiting the University of Michigan and had some hours to kill while waiting for my flight. The access was very quick and the staff gladly took out carry on luggage and bags at the cost check so we could visit the place, something other museums don’t usually do. The place was even more magnificent than I imagined and crowds were light on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The store is also worth noting, since I collect museum catalogues I purchased one and was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices, compared to New York or Paris, where you can find world-class museums such as this one.

I could have spent days and days here. Loved all of it. Every single piece of art. So much to take in. So many things to do, not just look at beautiful art! Workshops, preformacnes, two delicious places to eat, and an amazing gift shop that is its own art gallery. So much fun, I cant wait to go back.

Exceeded expectations! A very cool collection. Spent a few hours there. I especially liked the boards they had up near some of the paintings explaining what you're looking at. If limited on time I'd start on floor 2, then do floor 3, then 1. Great vibes! 20$ per person. Wayne County residents are free with ID. Bought tickets there. Parking was 8 $ nearby.

Visited with my mom and had a great time. She uses a wheelchair and we didn't have any difficulty getting around the building. The docents were extremely helpful and friendly. This museum has one of the best collections of the old masters in the Midwest. Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, plus Holbein and Van Eyck. The Impressionist and modern art were mostly off view due to current renovations. So we will have to come back for sure! Even without everything on display, the museum is well worth the visit.

It's been a long time since I been there. Was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a lot to take in. Not so many hands on stuff for kids tho. If you have a hard standing or walking a long time there are benches everywhere. Everything is very detailed and descriptive. I would go back in the futer. If you are considering this for a family trip or if you are coming in from out of state I highly recommend coming here and checking out it. Also if you want something like a novilty they have machines that make wax molds of cars etc.

I could have spent five or six hours here. There is so much going on from presidential cars to race cars, the bus Rosa Parks was on to the chair Lincoln was shot in. This is truly a museum of innovation, not just about Ford. If we would have had time I would have spent the time to go to the Ford Rouge plant that assembles Ford F-150s. That takes about two hours. Nearby you have the race car hall of fame. Outside of having a ton of information its just a very elegant building. Its classy enough to be an art museum and some of these pieces are definitely that. Its a must stop in Detroit.

We absolutely love this place! There is something for everyone. They have the museum located indoors that has many great exhibits. Lots of hands on activities for kids. There’s also special events that come to the museum. In addition to the museum there’s the outside village (does require additional ticket) that you can walk around. I highly recommend getting a ride pass so you can ride all of the rides (train, carousel, model T) without worrying to buy additional tickets! Custard is a must!!

Outside of the Smithsonian, I would say that this is the most important and comprehensive technology and transport museum in America. They simply have things that you won't see anywhere else, from the original Mustang prototype to the Rosa Parks bus to the last extant examples of numerous steam locomotives. The Dymaxion house is such a great "what could have been" story. I would definitely budget an entire day to see the museum and save Greenfield Village for the next day. You really need one day each to do both.

Beautiful accessible relaxing ! This view is from what I think used to be the beach bar/ restaurant. It’s a great place to sit. The food options are limited but we had a delicious plate of pulled pork nachos(fake cheese but so good) and a salad with all kinds of good stuff in it- can’t remember the name- it’s a little pricey for the quality of food and service but you could sit there all day and just look out the window and enjoy! so it’s kind of worth it. We enjoyed our time there.

Love this place whatever the time of year. The maintenance crew is awesome, the space is ever changing throughout the year to compliment the seasons. It’s a great place for people watching, taking a break from work or hanging out on a date, with friends or family…whatever the occasion. Centered around restaurants, food trucks and bars. It’s a very beautiful and welcoming outdoor space that I frequent a lot when coming downtown.

Belle Isle is a beautiful Michigan State Park located on the waterfront of the Detroit River. Since the state took it over the improvements are amazing. Be sure to visit the Belle Isle Aquarium and the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory. If you haven't been there in the last few years, it's a beautiful day trip. You need a Michigan State Park pass for entry.

This was a great place for a picnic with a large group of people. We found the pavilion and started the party. The weather was beautiful even though a little windy, it was a fantastic view!! People could mingle and meet people. Our event was catered and picnic tables were nearby to sit down and enjoy the meal. It was a very special place for a very special occasion!!

If I come back to Detroit THIS is where I intend to come. A Detroit must-see. Come prepared to pay $11 for the day or pay a yearly fee closer to $40-50--Which is well worth it if you are close. Parking can be different, and not ideal if you have mobility issues but unclear what more can be done. Bathrooms are widespread and also not the cleanest. Recommend to come early. Another place I would love to cycle It is wild to notice the difference in American architecture compared to Canadian....

Always wanted to go there but a little bit underwhelmed, we must’ve came on a bad day because the grass was overgrown and looked a little sad. We found a paved trail and walked to the lighthouse. The water was beautiful.!

Ever since the state has taken over the island, it has been clean, ongoing improvements and most importantly safe again. It is a great place to enjoy walking, gathering, swimming or biking with your family and friends.

What a pleasant surprise! I stumbled upon a paid tour while walking through the lobby I made some inquiries and found that they do tours all day but if you take any of the tours after 4pm you get a special treat. You get to go up to the top floor which has gorgeous views all round the city. But what was really spectacular was the tour guide. He shared history of the building, of the city and of the architecture in the area. Be ready to walk and get ready to also go into the basement where you'll get to see and step inside a bank vault. Totally worth the 60 mins. I recommend the tour for anyone that's walked by this building and has always been curious about the unusual architecture. Also don't forget tip your tour guide.

The historical architecture and design are absolutely out of this world and one of a kind. The details are amazing. I suggest one go see it for oneself and take a good camera. The building is open 7 days a week, equipped with a public bathroom and there's a nice little gift shop with all things Détroit and all things Michigan.

First time visiting Detroit. The Art Deco styled Guardian Building is stunningly beautiful! Our Detroit City Tour originated and ended here. I highly recommend visiting this architectural treasure! The City Tour (tickets purchased online in advance) was very worthwhile and informative of the city’s history and current plans for the future.

I was thrilled to walk around inside this historic and splendid building. The paintings recorded the history and prosperity of this city. The first floor was free to visit, but we could not go upstairs.

Absolutely stunning Art Deco architecture — they call it the “Cathedral of Finance” and it’s easy to see why. The lobby is free to visit and worth every minute: colorful Pewabic tile work, massive vaulted ceilings covered in bold patterns, stained glass windows that glow when the sun hits, and the ornate metal gate with the clock at the banking hall. Great photo spot and easy to walk to from other downtown landmarks (Spirit of Detroit, The Fist, Campus Martius). If you want more history, there’s a guided “Insider’s Tour” available (~$12). 📸 Tip: Stand in the center of the lobby and shoot straight up for the best ceiling shot.

The architecture here is really impressive and I can see why it was designated as a historical landmark. If you're heading towards Hart Park its worth a stop.

A must see fabulous show of Art Deco. The railings, elevator doors, steps, windows, ceiling, clock, ..... everything perfectly done.

Tigers game!! Comerica Park is a great place to take in a baseball game with something for everyone. There is a carousel and Ferris wheel for kids and those young at heart. There are plenty of bars for the over 21 crowd. It is an airy stadium that managed to stay cool in the shade despite a very warm Detroit day. Sight lines are great from every seat. They have a newer type of netting for fan protection that is more transparent and less obstructive of viewing the game. 100% recommend!

Great experience and view, while waiting for the game to start I recommend going to the Farris wheel. The seats inside the stadium are very comfortable and quality. The food is great, especially the hotdogs. Overall I recommend going and buy tickets in advance.

Amazing simply a great place for the whole family! Comerica Park offers all types of venues from baseball football basketball concerts Grand events you name it this is the perfect place for so many different venues there are tons of restaurants in the area quick access to the freeway lots of stores and shopping just an amazing place

Hadn't been in about 3 years and my bf had never been! The baseball ferris wheel was a lot of fun at only 2 dollars! I wish it had a better view / view of the field ideally. There's so much to do outside of watching the game. Come prepared to over spend on food. We payed 6 dollars for bottled water. We went on August 23rd. The tigers played against the KC royals and won 4-2! Great game to watch! Go tigers!!!!🐯

The stadium is fabulous the food was great . It had everything for everyone. Young ,old and in between. There is a ferris wheel 🎡 and a merry-go-round in the stadium. The BBQ is some of the best i have had at a baseball park . Seats were spaced out right for a comfortable rest as you watched the game .

Great seats, friendly staff, and an coverall great experience! We had family in town from out of state and they wanted to see the Tigers play. We were able to secure some tickets on the first baseline about a week before the game. We enjoyed showing them Tigers stadium and downtown Detroit for the first time. It was unbearably hot, but the Tigers won! Cant wait to go back.

It's a beautiful island park with amazing views of Canada, the Detroit River and skyline. There’s something for everyone. They have walking trails, picnic spots, a beach, aquarium, a huge playground, food trucks , and even a historic fountain. P.S. Don’t try the lemonade from this place it was NASTY!

I believe it is all volunteer based so that is even nicer. • I didn't use the bathrooms but just like any public bathrooms, I'm sure they are a hit or a miss. • Lots of walking, bike riding, picnic areas. Pretty buildings, ponds, and nature. Worth a check out. Will go again!

This place has so much potential to be a 5 star location but it appears to be so neglected. No good clean working restrooms. Lots of trash everywhere and some of the people there had loud music. We wanted to relax by the water and enjoy the good weather but it was impossible.

Always a fun experience so relaxing. The sand the water are so relaxing as well. Me and my family try to come here as many times as possible. Perfect place to grill and enjoy family time. With plenty of grills and picnic areas. Definitely recommend for anyone to come and relax. Definitely need to come back again. Watching the sunset here is AMAZING 😍 ☀️

A big island with lots of activities to do and experience including a conservatory, aquarium, boathouse, fishing, beach and a light house at the other end of the island. We didn't have time to do most of the acitivities which are fun and free

Wife and I saw the red clay Strays there last week. I've seen about 200 + concerts in my life. In venues across a dozen states and I have to say this is the best concert venue I've ever been to. Absolutely amazing, 5 stars, we highly recommend it.

Review of the Fox Theatre – Downtown Detroit The Fox Theatre is always a stunning place to spend an evening. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful—historic, elegant, and full of character. The crowd was wonderfully diverse, with all ages represented and everything from jeans to full formalwear, which gave the night a very open, inclusive, and hip energy. The performance overall was great, and most of the sound throughout the show was solid. However, the acoustics were unexpectedly off during a few songs, which was surprising for a venue of this quality. Aside from those moments, the sound was good and the experience was well worth it. A lovely landmark and a great place to enjoy live entertainment in the heart of Detroit. Would definitely return.

Glad my father dragged me here to see this relic. The ornate architecture and sculptures alone are worth going for. I am glad the city put so much time and effort into preserving this and is still doing work.

If you've never been, add it to your list of places to go! The opulence of the Fox Theatre is a sight to behold. Truly a gem for Michigan!

Outstanding museum for a trip down memory lane or to get acquainted with Detroit history. Exhibits cover everything from native American inhabitants, the founding,and right up through modern times. I especially loved the music section, highlights all the things invented in Detroit. You'll need a couple of hours to see everything, and entree costs are budget friendly. Neat gift shop too.

This place is a hidden jem. The museum is located across the DIA museum, and I'm surprised by how I've seem to have missed this place. The DHM teaches you about the history of Detroit, and how we came about to be. This museum is HUGE, so go with a clear mind, a well fed belly and your walking shoes lol. There's many interactive stations for kids and parents and the museum did NOT forget a single point of Detroit's history. I 10/10 recommend going here when you're in the area alone or with your family!

What a fantastic museum! Although some of the reviewers complain about the aged displays, this museum is a gem within Detroit. It houses thousands upon thousands of items and displays, with some amazing things I’ve never seen before. It’s a must visit if you’re in the area!!! 👏🏻

My wife and me were invited to my daughter's Trip Slip app Start Up on Nov. 13th. This was only my second time visiting the museum and I was just as impressed as the first time; if not more because of her event but also having realized that an event space was available. I recommend that all people of all ages should visit and discover the history that helped get us to where we are today!

The museum is a family tradition for us. Our grandchildren - like our children did - are learning history, but they think they're just having fun! :) There are experiences for every age. Go. Learn. Have fun!

My wife and I took our daughter here yesterday, and we drive all the way down from Traverse. They had a pretty cool Science show, plenty of activities and a game area my daughter loved. All in all the trip was worth it as she did have a blast. The only reason we listed as 4 stars instead of 5 is that there was unfortunately several things closed off at the time and or just not working. That’s said it wasn’t anything to the point where it would prevent me from returning and this really is a nice place to bring the kids. The game area was a nice way to finish up the visit and we especially liked the giant chess and connect games.

Detroit's premier interactive science center! Suitable for all ages! Very recognizable with its dome and unique architecture, the Michigan Science Center puts a emphasis on learning and interaction! Oh my goodness — I am so excited to write this review! I used to come here back when it was the Detroit Science Center in the 90s, and walking in brought back so many nostalgic memories. The lights above the escalator coming out of the movie theater are exactly the same — it instantly took me back to my childhood. I hadn’t been to the Science Center in 30 years, and I had such a wonderful time. The experience was both fun and educational. I loved how many staff members were actively engaging with the kids — teaching them, helping them make crafts, and answering questions. There were so many great areas to explore — from the cave exhibits to the educational zones — and we spent hours there without ever getting bored. I even decided to become a member because we enjoyed it so much! The only reason I took off one star is because the Halloween light show was a bit of a letdown. We ended up leaving early, and honestly, it wasn’t worth the extra $3 in my opinion. Other than that small hiccup, everything else was fantastic. A solid 4 out of 5 stars — and I’ll definitely be back!

I grew up taking field trips here but the quality has gone down. I was pretty surprised that a lot of the exhibits were not maintained. A few exhibits were of space and planets, but we could not enjoy some of the exhibits because the screens were not working. They do have an interactive play area for kids under 6 in the lower level. This included a water table, costume area, and small bunk bed room. While this was pretty neat, again there were signs of needing maintenance. The area for the toddlers had a very musty smell and after hanging around there for 20 minutes, I felt like I need to disinfect myself.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Fun, Interactive, and Perfect for All Ages” The Michigan Science Center is a hands-on wonderland for curious minds. From interactive exhibits and live science demos to the planetarium and IMAX theater, there’s something for everyone. The staff are friendly and passionate, making learning exciting and approachable. A must-visit for families, students, and anyone who loves exploring how the world works. I always take my nieces and nephews, but sometimes my husband and I go solo for the IMAX shows!

Fantastic birthday party! Our 6 YO and 5 of his friends had a fantastic day at the Michigan Science Center for his birthday. So much for the kids to do and appealing to a wide variety of interests. The staff was so helpful from party reservation to the activities to the science demonstration. Party room is a great size and our guests were able to enjoy the center even after the party was over. Highly recommend.

Me and my son had so much fun at the science center. He's 5 and loved interacting with all the different exhibits. I definitely recommend bringing your curious kids. There's a lot of paid parking and art museums in walking distance.

The gift shop was extremely over priced & didn't have enough merchandise. They also changed the interactive experience of going inside a slave ship they removed the sound which I thought was so well done & elevated the exhibit. The exhibit through black history is still top notch & one of the absolute best

The museum experience felt so real, I cried 😭 I thought I could hold myself, but I couldn't. It was a great experience overall. I learnt so much. This museum holds so much history that everyone needs to learn and experience. I also visited the gift shop. The stuff were helpful and kind. I got sma few things there. Whe I visit Detroit again, I will visit this place. It was amazing ☺️☺️ Also, I spotted my country's flag 😅

Praise God, i still had the opportunity to expose my 5, 7, and 10 years old to the unfiltered truth. The building was well kept, and the staff were very professional in their presentation of the exhibitions. We arrived at about 11 am in the morning. They had an opportunity to see, touch, hear, and feel the continent of Africa. With all of its minerals, in diamonds, gold, silver, oil, uranium, platinum, and other precious metals and stones. Its agriculture products, beans, rice coffee, cocoa, and tea. However, its major commerce for 150 years was slavery. Estimated to have moved 60 million Africans to North/ South Americas, dominican Republic, Haiti. And the caribbean islands as free labor. They learned that the slave trade was set up on commerce, based between the French, British, Dutch, Spaniards, Portugal, and later the United States. They had an opportunity to see humans( men, women, and children) being captured, changed, and placed in a cell for branding, then separated by age, gender and sex as you would treat live stock.

My primarily reason to visit was the The Tuskegee Airmen: Two Victories! There is an additional fee for the section and its worth every penny. I really enjoy the section. The rest of the museum is great. The ship are was eerie but insightful. Everyone there was so welcoming and nice to chat with.

The Charles H. Wright Museum is an absolute treasure in Detroit. From the moment you walk in, the building itself is stunning, but the real impact is in the exhibits. The “And Still We Rise” exhibit takes you on a powerful journey from African civilizations through the Middle Passage, slavery, the Civil Rights Movement, and modern-day achievements. Everything is beautifully curated and presented in a way that’s both educational and emotional. The staff was warm and welcoming, and you can feel that they truly care about the mission of the museum. I left feeling moved, inspired, and grateful for the experience. This is a place everyone, NO MATTER YOUR BACKGROUND, should visit at least once!

A must see! This is a 22,000-square-foot, multi-level, interactive exhibit spanning 20+ galleries, charting the African American journey—from ancient African civilizations through the horrors of the Middle Passage, self-emancipation, the Underground Railroad, Civil Rights Movement, and into modern-day Detroit. with an abundance of information! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Still We Rise exhibit is very informative, interesting, immersive, and powerful. My two complaints are that the signs have a lot of typos, and it's way too cold in there (or at least it was the day I visited). It was also mostly empty on a weekday morning but maybe it's busier on weekends.

The architecture and art in this building is beautiful. If you look up while there, there is so much to see. The decorations are great. It is a very cool place to visit

Wonderful tour of an indescribable building. Wow! Every where you look the attention and detail that was built into this structure is phenomenal. The Fisher Building can not truely be appreciated without a tour. You will not regret it.

Another amazing Art Deco building with impressive metal works, mosaics, etc. There was some construction in front of the building and not many retailers inside but we went for the architecture and it was fantastic. About a 12-15 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the Motown museum.

After enjoying lunch at a nearby restaurant, we decided to walk down to the Fisher Building because we were told it's a beautiful building that we should check out. This building gave me very European vibes, like Italian ones, based on the details. The ceiling, the details, etc were great. There are various shops throughout the Fisher Building. Everything from a bookstore to a ladies store to a Born in the D shop. If you're out and about in this area, check it out. The theatre in this building also features fantastic plays, so consider that next time you're in this area. 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Highly recommend a tour of this beautiful building. Many photo ops of the incredible architecture. Jacob was the tour guide and he was awesome. Very educated with his knowledge about the history of the Fisher Building. A funny and good dude. -Chris Slonske

Another one of Detroit’s most beautiful buildings to check out. The interior architecture is stunning. There are some really nice clothing stores, gifts shops and a convenience store inside. And of course you can view what is playing at the Fisher theatre and enjoy a show. Highly recommend stopping here whether you live in Michigan or are visiting.

Such a wonderful place to spend time, shops are pricey, the free tours of the building are so rich of the history of the building, construction still on going on one entrance.

I cannot convey the beauty, impact, and introspection I experienced at the MOCAD. It was a school field trip. My students made screen prints, and we were all moved by the Gun Violence exhibit. This is a must-visit spot for everyone. They have a bar and several ongoing events. Make it your place to go this summer.

I’ve been to this museum maybe 3-4 times and I actually do sadly feel like it was a declining experience. While I think this museums nice, it’s in a lovely location and, I’m a big fan of the rotating exhibits, no two visits will be the same. I’m just not quite sure it’s worth the price range it packs as an avid museum goer. Something that I think would greatly improve this museum, is if they had night exhibits. Or a “late nights at the museum” premium sort of ticket exhibit. They have a bar, and I just can’t wrap my head around day drinking and studying. Overall, I think it’s a great concept and I do see the vision it just hasn’t been executed to its fullest extent.

I went on a field trip. The event was so engaging. The art was great. There is something connected about contemporary art. Unlike museum art, it can become a permanent part of your life.

If I could, I would give a zero rating. I have booked the MOCAD for my event (higher education institution) in mid-May for the event in mid-September, after hosting there for at least a couple of years. At the end of July, I had reached out to them for scheduling a meeting to go over floor plans and details for the event, and it took them a whole week to reply, where they communicated to me that due to renovation, they would have to cancel my event. Needless to say, with a month a half way from the event, this presented several challenges. In my response to them (which went unanswered), I have asked them whether this renovation had been previously scheduled, as these are usually planned years ahead, and if so, why had I been allowed to book my event, if they knew they wouldn’t be able to accommodate. It also was extremely challenging to get back the refund of the deposit originally paid (after several attempts, it was received at the end of August). I have been in the events industry for several years now (both as venue manager as a planner), and I have never dealt with so little professionalism and lack of integrity and communication. The least that the venue could have done was to go above and beyond and help me find a substitute venue, but there was very little to zero care about a lost standing client.

Simply put, the MOCAD is an amazing museum that not enough locals or tourists know about. There is no admission fee: they take donations and have some items for sale that go towards the museum. They regularly cycle out the exhibitions, which are usually from local artists. Each one I see is masterful, and they incite commentary. I'm particularly fond of the viewing room, which always has some cool short film or exhibit that forces you to be present. The rest of the space flows nicely, allowing you to walk through each area confidently and without confusion. It's always clean (even the bathrooms) and the staff are very friendly and chill. The MOCAD Café is also a delight. You don't need to visit the museum to visit the café, as it's located directly to your right as soon as you walk in, bypassing the museum all together. The space holds plenty of tables with seats, and there are more seats at the stocked bar. The bartender, a young black guy with a great sense of style (of a name I have forgotten), was a peach. He's always friendly and quick with orders. He claimed that he was the curator of the drink menu for the winter season and let me say: he did that. I tried two drinks, and they were both outstanding. They also sell baked goods and non-alcoholic beverages like coffee and tea, and most are locally sourced. I had a slice of vegan orange cake, and it was delicious. Parking is a breeze. There's plenty of street parking, and even on busy days, the furthest you'll walk is 1-2 minutes. Visit the MOCAD and make a donation, big or small. They deserve more support from the community they already support so much.

I think this museum is perfect in size, layout, and location. Big enough to house a small number of installations with an intimate feel. Its not too exhaustive so you can enjoy all art even if you visit to see one artist.

Great piece of automotive history!! The tour guide was very knowledgeable about everything on the tour. Highly recommend attending a guided tour time. Awesome vehicle collection and historic cars. As a grandchild of a model T collector it really made me feel like I was closer to my grandfather. I felt like her was visiting with me.

What a very cool experience. Blast from the past. I really enjoyed seeing many cars that put the WORLD on wheels. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I met Megan, who is a very young volunteer. It was a pleasure talking about cars and learning from each other. I had the opportunity to bring my FORD 1964 THUNDERBIRD "DIRTY REDD." I'm so glad we save this historical building for everyone can see. 👍

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this museum! I took the tour with an actual tour guide, which I highly recommend. Our guide was a retired Ford engineer, so we had a lot of fun and learned a lot. It is also an option to explore on your own. While I was there they were setting up for a wedding that was happening later in the day. I can see how fun it would be to have your wedding there.

This was a very unexpected and pleasant experience right here in Detroit! I love old cars. Take the docent narrated tour. Very informative. It was a bit hot , so bring a personal fan or towel. Also lots of stairs!

Tom was a great tour guide. The plant tour is obviously about the Model T but it's so much more than that. Its about the history of ford and other car brands with 65 cars to view. A great experience.

This was GREAT! It is not wheelchair accessible because you need to walk to the second floor, but once you are up is is really great. I am a car guy so it was awesome to see where the model T was started and to see the cars... Lots of cars!!!

Great little museum with a brilliant display of very early cars, interesting and enthusiastic tours. If you're into the detail, this is worth some time to look at, but seems like they've also catered for folks with much less subject knowledge. Seems to have easy access and parking, or it's a very short easy walk from the Qline tram stop (Amsterdam Street).

The Detroit Riverwalk is such a treasure! 🌆🌊 Whether you’re walking, jogging, biking, or just relaxing, the views of the river and skyline are gorgeous. The path is well-maintained, clean, and feels safe. Along the way there are playgrounds for kids, parks, splash pads, and plenty of spots to sit and take in the scenery. It’s family-friendly, peaceful, and full of energy all at once. Truly one of the best places to experience Detroit!

The Detroit Riverwalk is honestly one of the coolest riverwalks I’ve ever been to. Stretching along the waterfront with views of both the Detroit skyline and Canada across the river, it makes for such a beautiful walk. The path is clean, well-kept, and full of spots to stop, sit, and take it all in. There are family-friendly touches like playgrounds, splash areas, and even a carousel, plus it’s easy to walk, jog, or bike along. What made it extra special during my visit was the energy — being right across from Canada, I got to catch some of the excitement of a game-day tailgate party happening that day. It really gave the area a fun, electric vibe that added to the already lively atmosphere. It can get a little busy in places, especially where walkers, bikers, and scooters share the same space, but that just shows how popular it is. During the day it feels safe and welcoming, though I’d probably stick to daylight hours if visiting alone. Overall, the Detroit Riverwalk is a must-see — a perfect mix of relaxation, scenery, and big-city energy. Whether you’re out for a peaceful stroll or soaking in the tailgate buzz, it’s a highlight of Detroit.

On our Girls Trip to Detroit, we had to stop by the Detroit Riverwalk. Lots of friendly people from Detroit and other cities. The view was very nice! It was a clear day, so we were able to see the Canadian flag, and took some great pictures. We went later in the day, so there was not much going on. There was a group playing "bongos," so we brushed up on our African dancing! 🤣 Detroit Riverwalk is a must see!

Not a lot to do. Nice views from both sides of the river. Couple playgrounds for kids to play. Several places to stop in. Liked the GM building, cool seeing some cars I've never seen before. There is a BurgerKing inside.

This is a very nice park. It's very long along the Detroit River with a direct view into Windsor, Ontario. There are nice areas to sit and take a break, a wide walking path, interesting information about the history of the area, and art installations along it. Many people were walking up and down the path all day while I was there.

A perfect spot to enjoy beautiful scenery while walking along the river. You can also rent a scooter for a fun ride. From here, you can see the Canadian flags across the river — only a bridge and the water separate the USA and Canada.

I took a peaceful stroll up and down the Riverwalk 3 nights in a row. The serenity of my walk was not interrupted by the vehicle driving by on the other side of the buildings. Families, couples, and individuals were sharing lower temperatures and a slight breeze. The views of a large American metropolitan city are juxtaposed with the small town scene of Windsor.

We saw Lorna Shore here tonight. For starters they had no AC so it was insanely hot even Will Ramos said it was super hot and thanked us for sticking around , everyone was talking about it from the second we got into the building. Then they charge $5 for a pure life water and I'm sure alcohol was crazy also 😆. If you buy merch plan on waiting in a long line same for the bathrooms. If you don't want to hold on to the merch you can check it in for $5 and grab it after the show. The show wasn't loud enough! Normally you can really feel the drums! It just fell flat tonight 😔. No ringing ears or muffled sound or anything. It left us feeling un-impressed honestly. Went to see I Prevail and Three Days Grace last week at Soaring Eagle and it was WAY LOUDER. I'm so confused. I wouldn't go to another show here unfortunately. Beautiful venue though. The architecture is amazing.

The Freddie Gibbs & Alchemist show was packed but the line moved quickly enough. The building is massive and it can get a bit confusing figuring out where to go as a first time guest. It was all good though once we found our balcony seats and the rest of the experience was amazing. Great view, amazing performance, and easy to exit. What more could you ask for? Worth it for sure to see an artist but try to avoid the floor seating.

Been to three concerts here! Definitely recommend sitting center-stage as you will be able to see a lot more, especially if the artist performs upstage! Great acoustics. Only one merch booth so sometimes it can take up to an hour to get to the front of the line. Beautiful historical venue.

Great place to see a show, the staff is excellent and venue is clean and well operated. Tell us the stone work on the outside of the building. They don't make em like that anymore. Stage is low so you can see the fans unobstructed.

Went to see Michael blaustein. He was so damn funny. The venue is BEAUTIFUL. Lines are long but they go fast. Had a blast. Felt safe and enjoyed my time. 3 alcoholic beverages, 2 waters and a bag of popcorn was $48 So it's definitely theater prices. But they're are larger cans.

A beautiful landmark. We haven't been here in years. We've visited when the Theatre Bizarre was held here (PLEASE bring that back!) This time around, we attended the Candlelight (Horror) Concert, which was absolutely beautiful. The set-up was breathtaking.

Took the building tour and it was super. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. Both the history and architecture of the building was explained as well as the Freemasons and their beliefs and ceremonies. I especially appreciated the kind efforts made to accommodate my sister who uses a walker.

Always wanted to visit. Museum upstairs is small but free and lovely to visit. Large gift shop with mix of stuff but you can get a piece of history for a lot of your money but you know you want it.

First time visiting this lovely place. I was very overwhelmed by the beauty of Artwork of pottery made it in the heart of Detroit. I took home two pieces and sure I will be back for more.

Authentic. Over 100 years of artistic innovation and original craftsmanship in Detroit. The glazes on Pewabic Pottery and tiles are unmatched in the world. A true Detroit story of style and design unmatched in history. Do I exaggerate? No. Go to Pewabic and see for yourself! Even if you disagree you will likely enjoy your visit. I think my favorite thing was being there over the Christmas holidays and the holiday events that they hosted.

Located on the East side of Detroit,Pewabic is one of the oldest operating potteries in the country and is operating out of a National Historic Landmark studio. Known for their indescent glazed..many of which are on display in their museum which is located above the working studio and is free admission. They have a nice gift shop selling many original pieces from local artists Definitely a must stop when visiting Detroit.

I have been a pottery collector for many years. Pewabic pottery is legendary. The museum/ shop has wonderful pieces on display,and tells the history of the company. There is also an area that features incredible local artists and their pieces for sale. No entrance fee.

Provocative in its essential odd chaos yet intentional piles. Both deeply sad as poverty and waste and junk is revealed in these few blocks, right beside proud ND clean yet worn down houses and carefully kept empty lots. Wish for more funding and hope thre is more vibrant connection in this neighborhood. Emptiness is flat yet resilience also evident. Hope that artist and mentors find themselves in this space.

This shouldn't be listed under museums in the area! It's nothing you should go see on your own and is in a very scary area of Detroit. We did not get out of our vehicle and wouldn't suggest anyone to. It was quite the scene...like out of a horror movie. The idea of it was interesting and the artist had good intentions but ....it's not a museum and should not be misleading ppl to go there.

Really interesting art installation inspiring people to make positive changes in their environment. However small they may be, the cumulative effect will eventually make an impact for the greater good.

My family and I absolutely love Heidelberg. It's a quirky place to visit that doesn't cost anything. Started by Tyree Guyton to bring Detroit back to life when it was going through hard times. We have been going there for years and have always enjoyed seeing the new creations. Our most recent visit Mr. Guyton happened to be there and he was so friendly. He took pictures with us and allowed me to paint a polka dot on the street. It was definitely a moment to remember. A few years ago my cousin did a documentary on it for his entrance into college making films. This place is truly a Detroit hidden gem and a work of art. It will always have a place in our hearts.

Really enjoyed how open this display was - that you could just walk up to and around the collection. Weather and time hasn't been overly kind to pieces, but popping by this and the murals nearby while you're in the island view neighborhood is definitely worth a stop.

The Heidiberg Project was such a sight to see! There were so many amazing and creative pieces, and we even got the chance to meet the artist himself. He was so down-to-earth and took the time to answer all our questions. I even bought his picture book and got it signed, which made the experience even more special. If you’re an artist yourself, I highly recommend visiting. I would also encourage donating, as this place is constantly working to improve and grow for the better.

Attended a private tour, but anyone can walk through the project. It is very interesting. It may have a profound effect on your emotions with mixture of joy, sad, disgust, anger, relief, and hope.

Visiting the African American Festival with my family. It was very nice the way it was set up. The poet knowledge had a great performance. The music was even better. I'm so happy to see the fountain going with lights 😍

I love to come walk here in the morning and watch the sunrise and listen to the water. Very intriguing and a must see if you ever visit downtown Detroit. Super relaxing in the mornings.

I visited an EXCELLENT vendor truck, CHEF 3059. I know Chef Dameka personally and her food is AWWWWESOME. Her truck and food are compliant and delish. She's clean and her staff is friendly, professional and timely with orders. Next time you're near HUNTINGTON also known as Cobo Hall, check out her food menu. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her fried Catfish and Chicken Wing dinners. They're well worth the money. You won't be disappointed.

Went to the African World Festival there. Lots of vendors selling a multitude of things and many great food options to choose from. Also, live entertainment. It was a great summertime outing.

Wonderful public space on the river downtown. Lots of upgrades and renovations done. Really miss the Pyramid Stage home of some of my fondest memories of the Detroit Jazz Festival.

This place is such a vibe. Everyone was nice and pleasant. The event i attended was awesome. Will love to visit again.

I thought that the most interesting thing to do in Detroit would be visiting motor museums because of the name “motor city”, however, the river walk around this area had a lot of fun. This fountain park had a beautiful view of Detroit city and Canada across the river. There were many people who playing skateboarding at this park. The weather was pretty hot in August. We took a rest here and cooled down standing in front of this fountain with heavy water flow. Definitely a signature landmark of Detroit to take pictures and enjoy the view. The city landscape here reminds me of that at Millennium Park, Chicago.

Took a bike ride from Eastern Market down the cut and across the river front and back. Outstanding to see the city doing so well and investing. Highly recommend.

I walked the Dequindre Cut for the first time last week on a weekday and it was amazing! I parked at Eastern Market and walk down past the Ren Cen. I had a hard time finding where the entrance was, but we want to offer corners of the parking lot and found it. There were many other walkers and bikers on this Trail.

Small trail that takes me on a very quick route from midtown to the riverfront... Nice scenery and well kept, considering the neighborhood it's in... I very much enjoy this trail!

Very friendly, cool place to take a walk. Free parking at the entrance near the Eastern market. Murals to check out interesting architecture on the buildings and nice seating areas along the way. Feel safe with a ramp that leads down so you don’t have to use steps.

Not much to see here. Its a long straight, walking, jogging, biking trail. Lots of people ride those little motorized scooters down there too. Enjoy!

Perfect bike path or walk path in Detroit that connect you from Eastern Market all the way to the Riverwalk. Also Riverwalk is expanding therefore you can bike for miles Great place to exercise, get some fresh air and burn some calories. Even night time you still see people walking or biking. City is upgrading the Cut every year so it is going to get better and better.

I love this hidden Detroit gem!!! It’s a great starting point for the many paved paths Detroit offers. I like the entry point at Eastern Market for its free parking, nearby eats, & market. Overall the cut is a fun journey through the old train corridor. It’s flanked with a lot of graffiti art, landscape, and numerous side rest stops like the Freightyard where you can get snacks & drinks. It’s one of the coolest urban concrete trails I’ve trekked on. The cut is just the starting point to more. If you’re up for an adventure give it a go. It’s an edgy design balanced with modern elements and rough urban motifs with the skyline as a backdrop.

The All Things Detroit Holiday Shopping Experience was at Eastern Market today, November 9, 2025. Even though it was snowing outside inside was warm and comfortable for shopping. Local artisans had plenty to offer for all types of gift giving ideas and plenty of food with free samples. All local and all worth a visit.

Dammit this place is a legend. It's been around for a million years and had many events year round. I don't go as often as I like because I live 20 plus miles away. I usually go for flowers day but will occasionally stop in for other stuff when the mood strikes. They have lots of good stuff here like restaurants, meat and chicken for sale and other stuff too.

G’day, folks! Mick here — your favourite (Kiwi) local guide, always chasing good yarns, great grub, and the best beer I can get my mitts on. This story starts not at the Eastern Market, but at Busch’s, where I grabbed a 4-pack of a cheeky little brew called Elephant Juice from Eastern Market Brewing Company. Thought it’d be a good one for the cooler, so I chucked it in for a day out on the lake. There I was, feet up, breeze in my hair, sippin’ this juicy hazy IPA — which, by the way, I gave a solid 4.25 on Untappd— when my father-in-law Kevin squints at the can and goes, “You know that’s from Detroit, right? Eastern Market. We should go tomorrow.” And just like that, the plan was made. Next morning, we packed up the car, and headed to the heart of the mitten — Detroit’s Eastern Market, right near downtown in the “thumb” zone of Michigan’s iconic shape. Now, I’ll shoot straight — when we first pulled in, I wasn’t sure if we were in the right spot. Took a few passes and a mildly tense “discussion” with Kevin about whose fault it was we missed a spot before we finally wedged the car in somewhere legal. I had a moment of hesitation too — the area looked a bit sketchy, kinda run-down in parts — had me clutching my man satchel like it owed me money. But crikey, once we stepped into the market proper, it was like someone turned the volume up on life. Right at the entrance, a Mennonite choir was singing their hearts out — “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace,” full harmonies and all. It was unexpectedly moving — raw, spiritual, just beautiful. Inside? Absolute organised chaos in the best way. Folks from every background you can think of — a real multicultural melting pot, bursting with midwestern charm. Vendors and shoppers alike were as friendly as pie. People holding doors for strangers, saying “ohp, 'scuse me” like it’s second nature. Just makes your heart feel full. At one point, we stumbled onto a full-on showdown between an irate customer and a plant vendor. Lady was losing the plot over a potted something-or-other — not sure if it was begonias or her dignity on the line — but the drama was honestly kind of theatrical. The best part? Everyone just kinda watched while pretending not to. Added a bit of spice to the day. We stopped for lunch and oh boy — that shawarma. Tender meat, warm pita, garlic sauce that could raise the dead. We paired it with a pint (or two) of fresh beer from Eastern Market Brewing Company — a proper full-circle moment after Kevin’s lake-beer epiphany the day before. Before we wrapped up, we popped into Bon Bon and grabbed some heavenly handmade chocolates. Pro tip: guard those with your life. I’m hopin’ the family dog, Maya — a Chocolate Labrador — doesn’t get into ‘em like she has in the past. She once ate an entire Easter stash, wrappers and all. And look, while I know retrievers get a lot of love, I’m firmly in Camp Lab. More loyal, more food-obsessed (a personality trait I deeply respect), and Maya's got those “who, me?” eyes that make it impossible to stay mad. Retrievers are like your cousin who gets straight A’s and does triathlons. Labs are your cheeky mate who’ll nick your sausage but always have your back. Anyway — long story short, Eastern Market’s a beaut. Quirky, real, full of life, and deeply Detroit. If you’re ever in the mitten, don’t miss it. Great place to purchase fresh produce, flowers, plants and dome prepared food items. We tried the Polish pierogi for the first time. We also tried som soups from a local vendor. There name is not coming to mind but they had about 4 varieties (chil, salmon, chicken potatoes leek). We tried the all but the chili and potatoes and salmon were our favorites.

Have not been here for years. Loved it! Wish I lived much closer, but will be back...!!

This was a fun night out with good food and great entertainment. Bar and snacks available with a smooth ride up the Detroit River. The sunset river cruise has absolutely stunning views from each deck of the boat. We will definitely do again in the future.

We did the sunset dinner cruise and had a wonderful time celebrating our friend’s 50th birthdays. The entertainment was fun,music to dance and the views outside were amazing, esp with the sunset and then nighttime the city lit up. The food was probably the only disappointment. Did not care for it very much. Would have been nice to maybe offer some bread or rolls too. Desert was ok. Regardless, we still enjoyed ourselves.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had such a fantastic time on the Detroit Princess Riverboat! The food was delicious and the dessert was just as good. The customer service was top-notch, and everything on the boat was very clean and well maintained. The Motown music made the whole evening feel extra fun and lively, and being able to enjoy the views of both Detroit and Canada from the top deck was absolutely amazing. They even surprised my friend by wishing her a happy birthday as we boarded, which made the night extra special. Overall, it was such a wonderful and memorable experience — highly recommend, definitely a 5-star outing!

We celebrated our 16th. wedding anniversary by starting with a luncheon on the Detroit, Mi. Princess boat. It was a tour of Lake Huron and we had a buffet, music, dancing and I liked it very much. Tickets for two was $128.49. Two hour cruise looking at Canada from across the waterway. Live music, dancing together and pictures.

I was very impressed with the Princess Riverboat. I have seen it many times but never was on it. We took a Cruise sponsored by our favorite NPR station WDET-FM. The ship is beautiful inside and out. We were on the 4th level and enjoyed the views, River and the music. I will try it again for a Dinner cruise as I was told by a friend that the Food is great.

If you are looking for a nice relaxing evening on the Detroit River, I might suggest a cruise on the Detroit Princess. We did the sunset cruise. Boarding starts at 6pm with the boat leaving the dock at 7pm. We boarded at 6, were taken to our table and by 6:15 or so the buffet was open so we were able to eat before the ship left the dock. Plenty of food and as much as you can eat. Our main course was salmon and chicken with red potatoes, salad, pasta and veggies. The dessert was vanilla ice cream, pound cake and strawberries. Cash bar was available as well. There was live entertainment, a Motown group, but we were on deck before they started. The cruise was relaxing and a nice night out. The staff and crew were great! They were friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. I know they want to accommodate as many guests as possible, but found the seating to be very tight and close. The dinner area is air conditioned which was nice.

Dinner, DJ & Cruise is perfect for any occasion! Been there twice within 2 months and we will definitely be back. We loved everything with our experience on The Princess. Pricing is good for what you get on the cruise.😊

This was a very pretty riverfront to walk along. I love how they have places to sit, bikes to rent, a carousal, and a playground. They have a spot where you can also grab food. You can see Canada on the other side of the river, which was really neat.

Amazing, Beautiful place to come and relax and enjoy family and friends. This was my first trip to the river front while visiting Detroit and it will not be my last. They have a bar on the riverfront that plays music and they have a fairy that will take you along the lake. There is also a concert venue where they have concerts scheduled throughout the summer. This is a place you should go and check out. I Highly recommend this attraction.

This place is great, clean, spacious with beautiful views. But not sure if it’s just me , I felt it’s easy to miss an exit and reach Canada through Detroit Windsor tunnel. So stay alert if you are visiting for the first time especially with GPS. Detroit riverfront has been voted as the best river walk in US. Well, it can be argued but this one defiantly is a great contender. Just make sure it’s warm and clear to make the most of your visit.

Gorgeous river and lots to see and do along the way. If it had been a little warmer I definitely would have rented a bike to cruise more of it. Guess we have to go back!

I am a lifelong Detroiter and this is my second time ever coming to the Riverfront. The first time was about 5 years ago and they have enhanced it so much! It is amazing. So much seating and the views are breathtaking. Also an amazing place to walk, jog, ride a bike, walk a dog, etc. Highly, highly recommend.

Although i explored the place in extreme winter but its nice stretch along the river for running, biking with your friends and family or alone(the best time for yourself). You can have scenic view of lake cum river and windsor Canada.

Consistently voted one of the best riverwalks in the nation and getting better every year. New construction is expanding the length of the riverwalk. Make sure to check our the Heart Plaza, the Outdoor a Adventure Center and Belle Isle which are all within walking distance. Belle Isle connects to the riverfront trail through several blocks along Jefferson which includes a dedicated bicycle lane to and across the MacArthur bridge onto the island.

When I visit Detroit, this is the building I love walking inside and also on the international riverfront. This complex of seven buildings is the most important skyscraper of the Motor City. The Renaissance Center is a Detroit landmark. I highly recommend visiting this iconic building when you visit the city, especially if you are Chevrolet (GM) fan!

Loved the city view from the 60th floor. Staff was extremely helpful. Breakfast was a cut above. Rooms are small, especially the bathrooms. But we loved the floor to ceiling, wall to wall exterior window. Amazing!

Definitely a very cool and unique building. It is definitely worth exploring the lobby and the area with all of the cool cars on display. Also having a Detroit people mover station right next to the building with a connecting tunnel is very convenient as well. I also like the very unique and futuristic architecture of the building The hotel and the restaurants in the building are also really good.

We are having such an awesome experience here! Excellent hotel right next to the river walk, and restaurants inside, including Panera. Apple Bees/iHOP is right outside and VERY reasonably priced - $13 for a plate of mashed potatoes/broccoli/chicken breast and $5 for a plate of 3 small-ish pancakes. Anyway - we are staying in room 6419 and the view is INSANE! The entire Detroit is visible from our windows and the sunset/sunrise is absolutely GORGEOUS! If you have a chance to stay at this room, or request it, you won’t regret it! There’s a restaurant on the 70? Floor that has the entire view of Detroit as well. We are dining there today and I’ll post a review if it lives up to expectations. It’s $90 per person with a $25 cancellation fee per person. Highly recommend staying at this hotel! You can see Canada from across the river too. You can even make a trip there (bring the passport, of course).

A really interesting place to visit if you have the time. All of the current GM models are on the ground floor, as well as some heritage vehicles. The riverwalk is accessible through the back of the building. There are several dining options and a post office, but these tend to be closed outside of business hours. There is a restroom available. Overall very much worth checking out if you are in Detroit.

Absolutely beautiful. Me and my dad came all the way from Texas to come see the henry ford nearby and the GM RenCen, and I have no regrets at all. The view of Canada from the wintergarden is absolutely eye catching. I loved seeing GM World too as we got to get a close-up look of new GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac models. Amazing tourist attraction and place to walk around

Beautiful architecture. Amazing restoration! Love all the photos around that shows what it looked like when it was abandoned and the things they kept for display. Ground level is mainly all that was available to explore. Some of the large open areas were blocked off to walk through on the Thursday I went.

The architecture alone is worth the trip — historic details beautifully preserved, paired with modern spaces designed for collaboration. Absolutely Beautiful Restoration! I recently did a photo shoot at the Michigan Central Station, and the experience was incredible. The building is absolutely gorgeous — beautifully redone and restored while keeping its historic character. Every detail inside and out has been brought back to life with so much care and craftsmanship. It’s amazing to see this Detroit landmark thriving again! The space is perfect not only for photography but also for events, galas, and even weddings. It’s truly a must-see location that captures both the history and the future of Detroit.

Thank you Ford for rebuilding this space in Detroit. Amazing craftsmanship. What Detroit is all built on just like all the old historic homes? This place has a elegant charm combining new with old, highly recommend. Right now the lower levels are only accessible. There is a study to kind of hang out, relax, get a drink. A hotel is coming soon. I am blown away by this place. All the history and more to come.

We have been here for several events. I love the place. It's great for performances, chess events, and food events. I suppose you could screen a movie here as well. No doubt it's magnificent and a great piece of architecture.

I recently toured the historic Michigan Central Station in Detroit. I am amazed by all the hard work that Ford put into the building to bring it back to its original state. This a must visit destination and I highly recommend the guided tour and taking a walk through Roosevelt Park in front.

What a way to see downtown Detroit midway between some of the buildings and to see some of the Detroit River walk!!! The people mover is FREE to ride and it is a 15 minute train ride through some of the beautiful buildings of Detroit. My ONLY disappointment is that the ride is not longer. You should absolutely try this neat transportation when in The D!!!

If you are looking for a simple way to see a good portion of Detroit, ride the Peoplemover. The price is great at 75 cents. A great view of the Waterfront, The Ren Cen, Greek Town. Easy access to GreekTown Casino.

Today we were at Greenfield village for the Halloween evening dinner, train ride etc. So todays dinner was cancelled dur to a poweroutage. Some construction crews cut their power supply and it did not come back on until 4 pm. We were really excited to tey the dinner and was sad it was cancelled however we were told they were already working on refunds for the dinner portion of the ticket. We did the train ride and that was fun. The halloween decoration were a bit cheesy and they no longer give out candy. I guess they stopped doing this during covid. They really need to bring it back. They did have several food and drink trucks and sold alcohol; beer and wine. I did not see any liquor. The whole event was relatively expensive but thete were very few activities overall. However there was a large area that was more like a flea market where you could buy alll kinds of things. I kind of felt that i paid to goto a flea market and that the rest was just decorations. If you go, i would definitely go when dark - after 715 pm. Please bring back the trick or treating....

I've been coming here since I was a child. The whole village experience has been greatly enhanced with costumed guides, more rides (love the Model T rides), food choices and seasonal experiences. There are so many fun things to do in every season- something for everyone. So thrilled with Ford 's vision to preserve history so we can continue to learn from it and enjoy for decades to come.

This is definitely one of the best outdoor museums in the country. Lots of historic buildings, cars, trains and things to do. You can check out Thomas Edison's Menlo park, blacksmith demonstrations, other historic demonstrations, but by far the best thing to do is to ride the historic steam engine powered train and also the original model t cars. You really do feel like you are in the early 1900s and riding in a real historic 1914 Ford Model T is awesome. It's about a 10-minute ride and the driver explains the history and you really feel like you are in 1920. Everything is period correct including the cars, the buildings, the street lights, and even the yellow stop signs before they were required to be red. You can easily spend hours checking out all of the buildings, photographing the old cars and trains and still not see everything in one day.

I went during Hallowe’en nights and had the time of my life! There were story tellers, shops, costumes, pumpkins in TREES!! They offered a shuttle service before and after which was great for my grandpa. Paid the extra $5 each for a super cringey train ride ANDS I FREAKING LOVED IT! perfect amount of laughter for the price. It was gaudy, out of pocket, and the perfect way to end a spooky night. One negative thing is that there is A LOT of walking. We’ll rent a scooter for my grandpa next year.

Greenfield Village is like my Disney World. We are members so we support an amazing place and have a safe, fun, educational place to take our grandkids and friends. I would urge anyone to visit at least once and make sure you ride in a Model T, have frozen custard, ride the over 100 year old carousel and see where Henry Ford was born and Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb.

Greenfield Village is a nice step back in time thanks to Henry Ford and his vision to preserve history. The Hallowe’en and Holiday Nights events are wonderful. Great family friendly place to spend some time.

We visited on a Tuesday morning with minimal crowds. (mostly a few moms/strollers and a couple of small school groups) There was no waiting to ride the train, T-Model car or horse carriage rides. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and eager to share the history of the buildings and artifacts. The bathrooms were clean. Some of the food vendors were closed for the season as we visited in September. The highlight of our day was eating lunch in a candle lite inn with recipes from 1850. My husband had a whisky cocktail, bacon wrapped pork with new potatoes and peach pie. I had lemonade, tomato soup and blueberry pie. Both meals included pickles, breads, butter and blackberry jam all served in pottery. We loved the experience!

Bell Isle Aquarium is a really pretty little spot for anyone who loves aquatic life. Entrance is free, though donations are encouraged to help keep it that way, and the staff are super nice and welcoming. The green tiles inside is beautiful, and it feels huge when you walk in. That said, the fishes are beautiful, and it’s a peaceful experience just admiring them. It can get a bit crowded since it’s free, and it tends to get warm inside, but they have fans blowing and overall it’s a charming little aquarium worth visiting if you’re in the area.

It was wonderful and fun to see the Halloween decoration inside the fish tanks! Very clean , the staff friendly . Lots of species with information of each one. Even the aquarium is small they have a wide variety of species . I plan to visit again soon.

Beautiful historical aquarium. Walking through the incredible architecture and the green tiled ceiling makes you feel like you’re underwater. It’s a small little aquarium which is perfectly paired with the conservatory next door. Easy to stroll through quickly or take your time. Nice and accessible to all abilities. Free with a DNR pass. What really stands out is the beautiful historic architecture—from the vaulted ceilings to the tiled walls, you can feel the history in every corner. It feels like stepping back in time while surrounded by colorful fish from all over, and new exhibits that are in the works. While the aquarium isn’t huge, the exhibits are thoughtfully arranged and well-maintained. There’s a nice mix of freshwater and saltwater species, and it’s easy to navigate without feeling overwhelmed. Heads up: it can get pretty warm inside, especially on hot days, so bring a handheld fan or a cold drink to stay cool. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s absolutely worth the stop for a peaceful stroll and a glimpse into Detroit’s aquatic and architectural past.

The Belle Isle Aquarium was such a neat experience and is actually one of the oldest aquariums! You can walk through it in about an hour, and they have an impressive variety of fish, including the largest air-breathing fish collection. It’s a great spot for families or friends to explore. Outside, there's a cute gift shop, picnic tables, and even food trucks, plus the surrounding nature makes it extra enjoyable. Bathrooms are located outside, and the nearby conservatory is definitely worth a visit too.

If you're visiting Detroit, the Belle Isle Aquarium is a great quick stop. It’s free to enter, easy to walk through, and has a beautiful vintage charm. It’s not a big aquarium, but it’s interesting. Great for families, couples, or solo travelers looking for something unique on Belle Isle.

We really enjoyed visiting this aquarium and all its creatures. The aquarium is very beautiful. Our favorite creatures were the axolotl and the frogs. Free admission, donations welcomed. Lovely little gift shop stand out in front of the aquarium.

This was not my first visit here. But this particular weekend was for a camping training. And the grounds were clean. We got to take a tour and hear about the history. It was a beautiful site to be along the water and wake up to that in the morning. Overall great space for large activities and camping.

Free admission to see this awesome historic fort on the waterfront. It was awesome to walk around and see the old buildings and tour the area. This was such a treat to see. We really enjoyed the tunnels and artillery room.

Went this weekend, $10 for the guided tour - would have gladly paid so much more. Our guides were so incredibly knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Could not recommend this tour enough! Loved getting time to look around and learn about the history of the fort as well as military stories from the guides themselves. Need more people to go on this tour, people and places like these are slowly going away. Loved it and will bring visiting family to go check it out.

No tickets needed. Huge campus that was eerily empty and in the ruins. Good for people who like to explore abandoned buildings. Some buildings are not safe and closed off. Disclaimers aside I personally enjoyed visiting and walked the ground without anyone around it was nice.

The paid for tour is where it is at. The gentleman who took on the tour was one hell of a historian. He explained details about its construction that helped you understand the why of certain things. Sadly the fort is falling apart and in shambles as the city does not value it history. The group behind the tours is trying to hold it all together, but that requires money the City does not wish to spend I believe their reasoning for not taking care it is "It is too militant" Yah no crap its a Fort...Duh... This could be an awesome place to hold, festivals and reenactments 4th of July and Labor day parties. Weddings etc etc etc. The old building could be turned in to restaurants, shops and businesses. But nah.... It reminds me of St Pete's FL FT Desoto, difference is they take care of that one. and it is a place of history and fun.

So much history, walking around was surreal. Nothing gory or gross. A lot of the buildings are in disrepair and you cannot go in them, but seeing and knowing the area it is amazing to see. The actual Fort was creepy but cool. Seeing where they stationed, walking through the halls they walked. Still in very good shape. The barracks are still in very good shape although at the time we were unable to enter. It's a great place to visit!

Nice space for our class reunion picnic. My son use to go here for camp yeeeeeeeears ago! Very spacious! I didn't like that security didn't even let you stand on the curb while on the phone, though you weren't even moving😐

Wonderful bookstore! If you are visiting the city, you cannot miss this great place! The entire building is packed with books! They also have a parking lot available. We had so much fun exploring the floors and we found a few books to buy! Absolutely recommended!

Incredible! If you’re a book lover browsing for hidden gems or rare finds, this store is a Detroit pilgrimage. Its enormous inventory, ambiance, and historical weight make it an experience. But temper expectations: the inventory isn’t curated like a boutique store, the atmosphere is functional (not pristine), and it’s hot in the summer. Like sauna hot. Staff was wonderful and friendly, someone is on each floor to answer any questions.

I was completely captivated by the immersive experience of being enveloped in a world of books—everywhere I turned, there were shelves brimming with stories waiting to be discovered. The sheer abundance of titles and genres was like a treasure trove, each book offering its own adventure. Unfortunately, time slipped away from me far too quickly, leaving me eager to return and explore even more of this literary wonderland.

Definitely a unique experience. You can spend your entire day here, getting lost. Staff are very knowledgeable and great to chat with. This was my second visit and a perfect place to bring friends who are visiting Detroit.

Do you dream about getting lost in a bookstore for a WHOLE DAY? Because this is the place for you. My friends had to DRAG me out. The sheer size of the bookstore makes it feel chaotic but the map really helps and there is a relative sense of organization for the massive size of this store. The people were all friendly and helpful - and they knew pretty well where things were when I asked questions. Next time I come to Detroit I will be scheduling a whole day to just get lost in here.

I spent 4 hours in here and it felt like I didnt even touch the surface. Forget scratching the surface... I could feel the aura from the moment I stepped foot inside. You know Wan-Shi-Tong's library in Avatar the Last Airbender? Yeah, it's the Detroit version.

Beautiful river walk canada is so beautiful. That river walk is really beautiful and the animals that you see while you're walking and just the water coming back-and-forth waves and the air and the people boating is just so beautiful.

Decent place to walk and chill and relax

There’s something magical about walking by the river at night. The gentle sound of water, the soft glow of streetlights reflecting on the surface, and the calm all around it felt like stepping into a dream. The cool breeze and peaceful silence made it the perfect escape from the noise of the day. A simple walk, but one that left my heart full and mind at ease.

A very good river walk way of Detroit. Very good for people of all ages. Can do walking, biking, running, etc. Has open book shelves for books lovers. Has very good view of Windsor Canada side from river front. Has lots of parking space: free and paid both. Located behind General Motors head quarters. Has wheelchair accessible parking and entrance. Has neat and clean rest rooms near food courts. Has activities area for kids too. Small rides near walkway too.

Drove into Detroit passing through and stopped by the Riverwalk which was really nice. A lot of friendly locals that were kind enough to greet us and was pretty clean after the 4th of July. It was cool seeing workers out there maintaining the cleanliness. Bathrooms were pretty clean as well. It was cool to see that Canada was just across the river.

I finally stopped by this historical Coney Island restaurant in Detroit after passing by several times but never trying it before. I ordered the chili cheese fries, a gyro sandwich, and a hot dog topped with ground beef and chili. Since it’s such a historical spot, I went in with high expectations—but honestly, I was a bit disappointed. The flavors just weren’t there. Everything tasted under-seasoned, and the chili, which I normally love, was surprisingly bland. The ground beef on the hot dog was also plain and didn’t add much. It’s worth visiting once for the experience and the history, but not necessarily for the taste. I don’t see myself coming back for the food. On the bright side, the server was friendly and the restaurant itself was clean.

First time here. A nice little spot to get an average coney from. Quick friendly service. Tax is already added in the price. Walking distance from cobo hall. (Yes I still call it cobo)

Sweet staff. Always a great, affordable meal on the go. We took our girls here, it was their first time and they loved it. They loved it even more, when the sweet waiter gave them a complimentary donut. Thank you so much for the kind gesture!

The place is old-school, loud, and chaotic, but that’s part of the experience. If you want the ultimate authentic Detroit Coney dog, Lafayette is the spot to get messy and savor every bite.

Have always loved this place. I’ve been coming here since I was a toddler. My dad was a diehard Lafayette fan and that carried over to me. The coneys are consistent and the chili cheese fries are a great side dish. I’ll always make it a point to visit here when I’m back in town. This time I got one Lafayette special, which is a combo coney/loose burger. It was great of course.

Detroit staple!! Lafayette Coney Island is one of the original Detroit style Coney Island hot dog restaurants. It shares a wall with its 'rival American Coney Island. We sat at the counter while the staff constantly removed dirty plates, napkins, etc. The ambience is more like a NYC diner including the bathroom that is about the size of the driver seat in my car. We ordered a coney fully dressed chili, mustard and onions. The meat here is very savory with a thinner skin hands down the loudest snap l've ever heard when l've bit into a hot dog, that alone was enough for 5 stars for me,amazing! and the chili is so vibrant in its flavor. 100% recommend!

Detroit Coney classic. Rivalry between two establishments that are also located next to each other. This location is the best. Fast service and inexpensive. I'm not a chili person myself, so I just like it plain with ketchup.

An absolutely stunning mansion that transports you back in time. It was unbelievably intricate, art in every corner. You will receive a complimentary historical tour when you eat dinner here. There was a live pianist during the entire dinner which was nice. The food was very homey, especially the pork osso bucco. The beef Wellington is a must try. We also ordered the seafood mix, which I would not recommend (it was boring and fishy). The service was unmatched. Very kind, tentative staff. They were all lovely.

4.33/5 Our experience at The Whitney was nearly perfect. Dining in has been a to-do item for so long and it was great to finally experience the timeless atmosphere on my husband's birthday. Aside from the elegance, the food was delicious. It's hard to pick a favorite dish considering everything had tremendous flavor, but the season's mushroom velouté soup was special. The chef should make it a regular item on the menu. It was also nice to hear live music - the pianist was super talented. The only downside is the place got really busy as we were finishing up so it took way too long to get the bill from our server. We didn't even bother with dessert because we just wanted to leave. However, I'd come back assuming the pace could be better since the birthday meal deal is unbeatable for the quality.

There was all the ingredients for a fine dining experience…. With the important exception of the food. We pulled up to the front door and had our car parked conveniently and quickly by the valet. The building is stunning on the inside and out and a perfect example of a lumber Baron’s home from the late 1800’s. We were seated in a beautiful room that was originally the bedroom of the lady of the manor. However, this went a little downhill from there. For the 1st course I ordered Lobster Bisque and it was served almost cold. They must have completed forgot to heat it up, so it could not have been recently made. I sent it back and the replacement bowl was hot. The taste was just average. Our server was very apologetic and handled it very professionally. My main course was pork shank and to my disappointment it was also cold, almost refrigerator temp. I had to tell the server to take it back and she was visibly embarrassed. I felt sorry for her, as I very rarely complain or send food back. But twice in one sitting at a restaurant with the reputation of the Whitney! There is definitely something amiss in the kitchen. The staff were great though - removed the pork entree from my check and gave all 4 of us a nice desert.

Had a great experience at The Whitney! Our server Raigan was amazing, super attentive and even sent us another round of drinks on her because dinner took just a little longer than expected (not too long tho). Such a thoughtful service and a wonderful night overall! The food was delicious beyond words! Definitely will be going back!

Hosted a bridal shower tea party in the library. Everything was so enjoyable from the first tour with Samantha ceaserz until the day we arrived. Our servers were absolutely amazing 😍 very attentive. I gave the food a 4 star only because everything was quite wasn't so popular with our guests....in specific the sandwiches. I gave service a 4 star because of valet....very pushy... However overall I enjoyed the experience and our guests were in awe of the beautiful mansion and afternoon tea. Highly recommend hosting any party there. Samantha was very enjoyable and easy to work with!

Stumbled upon this gorgeous place after visiting the Detroit Institute of Art. Walked in for a cocktail at The Ghost Bar and ended up having an unexpected and unforgettable experience in a National Landmark. We visited in a Sunday and happy hour was happening all afternoon, which was awesome. Also noted there was a historian on site to give free tours of the house. We did not take one but will on our next visit. Only giving four start because we have a flatbread that was just OK, but we heard food at the restaurant below is fabulous.

Blown away how nice of a venue this is. Beautiful! We traveled in from out of state to catch a hockey game. Every staff member was polite and nice and even though we were wearing the visiting teams gear, they said on multiple occasions, welcome and hope you had a good time. Top notch. Only complaint I have are the seats...very tight. Outside of that, great place!

Some of the prices are way too high. And we could only afford the nose bleed seats I am almost 70 and climbing those stairs I had to stop because I had that deputations palpitations, perhaps they could make it easier on seniors with disabilities, and adults with autism and mental disabilities.like myself Other than that it really was a wonderful experience didn't have to wait in long line breezed right on through. Some of the refreshments were too rich for my blood. Next time I will have to eat before I get there, .thank you for the experience.

Had the best experience going to LCA for the Stevie Nicks concert! My husband & I were trying to find our way to our floors seats & stopped to ask an employee for help. Bill was just the best!! He was so kind, funny, and helpful! He walked us from the main level, to the elevator to go down to the floor level then walked us even further to an usher. The whole time engaging in conversation and banter! The usher that showed us to our seats asked if we knew Bill because of how personable we all were but we had only met him a few minutes before! So, if Bill's boss sees this review, give Bill a raise, he is a gem!! I'm not sure of what Bill's job is at LCA to make sure the right Bill is recognized but I'm guessing he's closer to 6ft, has some light shaded greyish hair, facial hair & wears glasses. Seeing Stevie Nicks was a highlight but the experience before the show shines just as bright!

I had something to eat in the Market (adjacent to the Caesars Arena) prior to the show. Food was great and lots of it! It was continually kept clean with so many guests arriving. I had great seats. A number of people came, trying to find their seats, after the show started. The ushers were great in assisting the guests. Personally the show was OK, I little slow, but I have heard him so much funnier. There are several parking garages nearby, within a short walking distance to the arena.

Caught the Red Wings vs Blue Jackets game here and WOW, what a game! Wings took it in OT, super entertaining from start to finish. I’ve been to Joe Louis Arena multiple times for concerts and always loved the history and grit of that building, but it was definitely showing its age. Little Caesars Arena feels like the perfect upgrade. Sure, you miss some of that old-school charm, but they did a great job bringing over historic statues and displays so you still get that nostalgic Red Wings energy the second you walk in. The arena itself is beautiful, modern, clean, and the ceiling design with all the lighting and production elements is awesome. Such a cool place to watch a hockey game. The fanbase is passionate as ever, the atmosphere is electric, and there’s just so much to see here if you’re even remotely a Wings fan or a hockey fan in general. Total win. Visited for my 1st time on 10/28/25 for Stevie Nicks concert. Awesome seats from suite. You can even get food without leaving your seat which is absolutely fantastic. One of my favorite concert venues.

I had an amazing experience at Hop Cat in Detroit. We ordered a bunch of food and I loved the burgers. The shareable nachos were excellent. And the beer cheese is the best I’ve ever had. We had a couple beers that that came out crisp and cold. Great environment, and place to get together and watch a game. I will definitely be coming back here as I am hooked on their burgers. Our waitress Annie was awesome. She made sure that our drinks were full and we had everything that we needed to have a Great dining Experience

Great food and drinks! Their happy hour deals are amazing, and all the food was both filling and flavorful. The atmosphere has a cool retro vibe that makes the experience even better. Definitely worth a visit! The QLine also drops you off in front which makes it convenient.

Wow! They have made a huge improvement since my last few visits. I love the location and have being retrying them for a long time. The service was great. I was happy bc of all the locations in I patronize this is the only one that used to tell me I could not get all flats for my wings. However, this time I put the request in and they honored it!That really made me smile.

Out to lunch with my partner and we decided to go to place we see all the time. HopCat was better then okay but not great. The service was a little slow keep in mind the place was far from capacity. Their were 5 people at the bar and less than half the booths had people in them. I got the dirty martini burger and it was okay. Two bites had olives, my wife gotnthe fired cod, half of one piece was soggy. It is what it is. Not a bad experience, everything was just okay.

Food was delicious! Tomika the greeter was very friendly and welcoming, our waitress Kai was the best! The burgers are delicious! Best I have had and I’m a big burger fan! Definitely recommend and try the “Meowgarita”, you won’t be disappointed! I’m not a beer drinker but I love that they have Detroit made beer on tap here!

Ugh, I got a recommendation from a friend from Detroit, and I gotta say, I'm bummed. I stopped in for happy hour for a quick drink and snack, and ugh. I probably should have just sent the food back and stuck with the 🍸. I went against my better judgment and got boneless wings 🤢; no wonder they're on the happy hour menu. I got the cosmic fries loaded, and ugh again. The fries were cold. I was on my way to work and hadn't eaten all day, so I just ate enough to keep my stomach from growling, and the boneless wings were lukewarm. The only thing that saved the day was the drink, a classic margarita. Man, I don't know, but I'll probably just go back for drinks.

Wow, talk about a good burger and fries. This place hit it out of the park after a Tigers game. Pretty busy after the afternoon Tigers game, but we ended up just setting at the bar. The staff could've been a wee bit more friendly, but they got the job done. For being pretty much packed, we got our food pretty fast. Tried their new "dirty martini" burger and it was great. The cosmic fries, which used to be called crack fries, and I can see why, they were addicting. They menu had several items I would have liked to have tried, but guess that means I have to go back again. My girlfriend was just as happy with her "bacon a session" burger and fries.

If you're an outdoorsy person then you and your kids will love it. Very inexpensive!! $7 for age 13 to adults, $5 for kids 2 - 12 yrs, and free for kids under age of 2. Parking is $5 before 4pm. Sometimes your able to locate some free parking spots. My grandkids loved the Outdoor Adventure but everything is inside so, bring a lunch and have a good time!!! 😄😊

SO cute. The staff was super engaged and kind. The center is sweet and hands-on. It is "3 floors" but the top floor is just a minute or two to walk through and my kiddos had no interest. We have a 5.5 year old, 3 year old, and 1.5 year old. 4 stars because it was smaller than anticipated and really only took our family about 1.5 hours. The facility and staff itself was 5 stars. Parking was *seamless* and so close.

Seven years ago today was my very first visit to DNR Outdoor Adventure with my children, and it was truly a wonderful experience. We still have plenty of pictures to look back on, and the memories are priceless. It’s not just fun—it’s also a great learning experience for families and kids. I definitely recommend visiting if you’re looking for adventure, education, and quality time together in nature!

The Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit is a true gem in the city. I encourage everyone to bring their children here. It is a wonderful place to gain a love and knowledge of nature. OAC has packed so much learning everywhere you look, and the staff are great! There are a lot of hands on activities that you can climb on and through. It's a beautiful place, full of wonder. My family and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously and I can't say enough good things about the place. Give yourself plenty of time to explore. Parking is easy and close.

Great value for a quick, unique stop with the kids - highly recommend for an hr or two. The simulations were very cool (snowmobile, 4 wheeler, kayak, fishing, etc...)
