Casa Salazar, also known as Palacio Salazar, is a must-see attraction in San Cristobal de La Laguna, Tenerife. This historic palace was constructed in the mid-17th century and showcases Canarian Baroque architecture with hints of Mannerist and Neoclassical styles evident in its intricate details like gargoyles. Despite being ravaged by fire in 2006, the palace has been meticulously restored to its former glory.
Who cares if you can't go in, the patios are stunning and thank you to the church for sharing their site for tourists.

Part of the tickets to other churches and places in La Laguna. I do not mind the price. But when I have to pay and then there is no info that all the other places fridays at 12.00h.... sorry that has a bad feel. Opening hours are not marked on the ticket at all. Place looks to be very interesting and I had hoped to see more.... but it is closed and you have no info about opening hours on site.

Museum
The Museum of the History of Tenerife is a captivating destination that offers visitors a deep dive into the island's rich sociocultural tapestry, spanning from the 15th to the 20th century. Housed in a stunning 17th-century palace once owned by an Italian merchant, this museum showcases an impressive array of documents, artifacts, and religious relics that narrate the economic and cultural evolution of Tenerife.
Nice place. Easy to faind. Is a underground parking not far away from the museum. The entrance to the museum is 5e nice price for a bit of history of tenerife some days is free so you can chek the website for it.
Sonaahri D — Google review
Well done museum depicting the colonial history of Tenerife and the building itself, but lacks geological and archialogical history pre-dating the colonialism. There is an audio guide to fill in the details captured in each room. This museum is a good starting point when walking the historic district of La Laguna.
James K — Google review
A splendid local museum, it is very focused on regional history. Copies of documents denoting many important facts are displayed. The museum also contains information about the building, which is an exhibit on its own, and even traces the history of the family that owned it.
Krzysztof N — Google review
It’s a beautiful building and the staff were very helpful. The contents are presented without AV support and purely in Spanish, which is fine, but it did not live up to our hopes. Nevertheless, we had a fine time.
Ian P — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to this museum. It's located in an old mansion, the Casa Lercaro, which is beautiful and worth seeing all on its own. The museum itself is a nice size—not too big, not too small—and gives you a really good overview of Tenerife’s history, from the 15th century right up to the modern day. The exhibits are well-organized and easy to follow, covering everything from the island's social and economic development to its cultural traditions. I especially liked the sections that showed what life was like in the past, with furniture and objects from different eras. It’s a great way to understand how the island and its people have changed over time. It's a perfect stop if you're already in La Laguna and want to learn more about the history of Tenerife without getting overwhelmed. Definitely recommend it!
Martina ( — Google review
The history of the places visited always complements the journey. Apart from tourism, Tenerife also has a centuries-old history that is worth getting to know by visiting this museum. Notice the beauty of the building's ornaments.

Stayed South of the island and made a day trip to La Laguna. Beautiful part of the island to visit if you’re looking for culture and the museum was a must! The information provided was fascinating and id recommend any traveller travelling to La Laguna!
Samuel — Google review
The building is beautiful but the museum is like something out of the 1970s. Totally glosses over Tenerife's major role in the slave trade and the terrible treatment of the Guanche people. This is not the history of Tenerife, this is the history of the Spanish people who conquered Tenerife and who don't want to acknowledge their part in anything

Casa de los Capitanes Generales is a stunning example of Neoclassical architecture in the city, showcasing simplicity and elegance. This historic house, built between 1624 and 1631 by the Captain General of Tenerife, Diego de Alvarado Bracamonte, features gorgeous tiling and a charming courtyard. The interior is centered around a U-shaped patio with a wooden balcony above.
Casa de Los Capitanes Generales is a fascinating piece of history in La Laguna! From 1705 to 1723, it housed six Captains General of the Canary Islands, giving it immense historical and institutional significance. The beautifully restored building features a stunning central courtyard, typical of 17th-century architecture, surrounded by rooms that once served as bedrooms, stables, and storage spaces. The restoration work, especially the attention to the carpentry, is impeccable. Now serving municipal purposes, it’s a must-see for history enthusiasts and architecture lovers. Highly recommend visiting this historical gem!

Casa Montañés, a mansion built in 1746 by Francisco Montanes, stands as a testament to the grandeur of the 18th century. Today we visited the permanent exhibition at the Fundación Cristina de Vera along with a group of 20 young people from the BST (British) school. Although we had not booked in advance we were shown round by Karen who offered to give an impromptu talk to the students and explained some of the meanings behind these wonderful paintings by Cristina de Vera in the permanent exhibition in this beautiful old building. She then forwarded information to me about up and coming events which are being organized for school parties. Our students really enjoyed their visit and we would like to thank the director and Karen for their helpfulness and friendliness. We shall definitely be returning. Thankyou.

Museo de La Ciencia y El Cosmos, located in San Cristobal de La Laguna on Tenerife island, is not your typical museum. It aims to make science fun and interactive for visitors of all ages. The museum offers playful and interactive exhibits, making it popular with children.
Nice museum with children or not. Spent an hour easily only for 5€ per adult. 3,5€ if you have a group >8 people.
Sergejus M — Google review
It is not too dissimilar from many other “science museums” oriented towards a younger audience. That said, our kids loved it, of course, and requested 5 stars, even if some exponats were out of order. The open terrace with solar clock and real radiotelescope deserves attention, as do the information on guanche script, the Santa Cruz oil refinery model, and the seatide calculator.
Krzysztof N — Google review
Apart from the inconvience that theres no english translation ( you can use google translate for instance ) its a nice interactive place.
Štefan J — Google review
educativo y divertido . "planetario" was the best! which was extra 1€ , do buy it! on the whole , worth a visit once . (some equipment were out of order though) things to consider: there's no parking available for the visitors, but it was easy to park nearby. no cafeteria but vending machine stacked with basic needs and a basic sitting area available.
Sadhwani D — Google review
This is really for kids. Usually I enjoy it regardless, but it's all in Spanish (which makes sense, as it's for kids). I had trouble translating everything, though they provide a translated document digitally. It made me focus on my phone more than the exhibition.
Cassandra L — Google review
What a great place, with lots of interactive exhibits. The volcano exhibit was cleverly put together and with curtains to walk through made the suspense even better. You can get translations of what you are seeing and audio guide if you sign onto their WiFi, good to remember earphones if you struggle translating the Spanish. I got lost in the maze of mirrors, lots of geology, physics and astronomy thrown in. Biology and Chemistry take a bit of a back seat, but that suited me. Great value at 5€ for an adult.
Ralph F — Google review
Truly a curious museum. It was quite educational as for me or as for any other person, I believe it’s for all ages. It has many educational reading, as well as activities,( there is a planetarium for the price of 1€ per person), many stands where to press something and see what happens,… It was great. Its a combination of a museum of Fisics and astronomy. The prices were 2€ for child residents, and 3€ adult. 5€ for a non resident, child 3€, but there are times from certain hours it free. It was a great afternoon. Truly recommend
Frany S — Google review
Interesting and modern museum aimed to put interest in science by trying many of the interactive scenes covering a wide range of science. I guess optimal visitor age is from 8+ years and to old age. A major disadvantage is that all explanations are in Spanish only. Tram stops just outside and you can park a car around.

Hidden gem I would say! You must try their special coffee as well. Can’t remember what it’s called but it has cinnamon and a bit of lemon as well. It was so tasty I ordered two!! Loved it here, the museum seemed pretty interesting too.

Interesting museum with traditional Canarian courtyard.
Ian G — Google review
Did not visit the museum part, just enjoyed the cafe there - located in the interior courtyard, at one level down from street level. The place is charming, to stay the least! Cosy and quiet and colorful and special!! Like the small town you're walking through (La Laguna). The coffee was also great (cappuccino or latte)- the best on the island, to tell my truth. And the sounding on the nearby bell tower, at fixed quarter hourly intervals is magnificently captured by that basement level internal yard.

It is an amazing location to have a coffee or a typical Canarian lunch. Both verry good.. The peace and serenity is an experience on its own.
John H — Google review
Hidden away gem, beautiful atmosphere inside a courtyard of a historic building with plenty of flowers and a little fountain. Very reasonably priced, tasty breakfast! Get the breakfast on a high tea tray, which we unfortunately only saw when locals ordered it, it looked amazing!

Catholic church
Nestled in the heart of La Laguna, the Iglesia de Santo Domingo de Guzmán stands as a testament to 16th-century architecture and religious devotion. Originally established in 1522 by Dominican friars, this church was expanded shortly after its inception. It is renowned for housing revered images such as the Lady of the Rosary and serves as a spiritual hub for locals.
Historic church worth the visit
Pablo R — Google review
Closed, closed a lot. There's supposed to be a nice tomb in there but...be careful about hours. It is a functioning church of course, so tourists are low priority. Next door is old dormitory, the space could use renovation but at least it's open, there's a guy there welcoming you (and gratis, finally!). 10min walk around, see funny looking owl sculpture, ornate wood carvings. Not much but ok. And... there's a very nice gratis WC inside (upstairs, near main entrance). Always a positive thing anywhere in our modern crowded manic all-for-profit world; gratis, non-stinky, non-smelly, bright, no-lines WCs, that actually works, doors close, toilets flush, water runs, towels to dry, soap...miracle of all, soap!

(Translated by Google) Along with the convent of the same name, logically the church is an initiative of the Dominicans. It dates from the beginning of the 16th century. It is clearly seen that it was built in two phases because in the photo you can see that it has two different bodies. It also underwent some reforms over time. A very curious story is that a lagoon privateer, Amaro Pargo, is buried. (Original) Junto al convento del mismo nombre,lógicamente la iglesia es iniciativa de los dominicos. (Translated by Google) It is one of the most important temples in the city and the image of Our Lady of the Rosary is venerated there, which is one of the most revered images of La Laguna and patron saint of the parish along with Santo Domingo de Guzmán. In the place where occupies the current temple, there was a primitive hermitage dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. In 1522 the convent where the Dominican friars settled was built. For its part, in 1527 the church was built. In this Dominican temple the image of the Virgin of Candelaria (Patron Saint of the Canary Islands) was guarded on her first departure from the Villa Mariana de Candelaria, on January 30, 1555. This first transfer was carried out out of fear of the French and the attacks they They had previously carried out on the coasts, where their Sanctuary is located. In 1747, the famous lagoon privateer Amaro Rodríguez Felipe, more commonly known as Amaro Pargo, was buried in this church. Said corsair was a patron of this temple, to whom he donated several works of art, such as the silver throne of the Deceased Lord. His marble tombstone is located right at the entrance to the church. This one has the family crest and the pirate symbol, a skull with two crossbones.
