The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision is a museum located in Hilversum, offering hands-on exhibits that explore Dutch media. The museum features a building with impressive architecture and spacious interiors, as well as a cafeteria with reasonable prices. It provides an interactive experience focused on radio, TV, gaming, and internet, making it an enjoyable destination for families.
Huge media focussed museum. Was really impressed by their mobile app that guides you through the meseum and allows all of the exhibits to recognise you as you move along and collect a digital footprint as you move through. There were sections on gaming, eurovision, social media, some technology bits. Almost anything you would associate with sound and vision.
Scot M — Google review
Great museum. I think they should update certain exhibitions like the 3D and VR animations. We saw a few screens not working as well. But all in all, it's an interesting experience in a fantastic building.
Miguel P — Google review
Enjoyable place for a days out with a family. Not so much as a solo visit from what I noticed. Still you can learn about the media culture of the Netherlands and also some international media. There’s lots of games to play and do there and it’s not so much a museum but more of an interactive experience. If you are looking for a museum visit I would not recommend this place but if you are looking for an interactive experience this would be a great place.
乇Ⱡ Ꭾ — Google review
Let's start with the good. There is a lot to do to immerse yourself into the media world and a few Dutch cultural media things on display. The museum is clean, has lockers, a nice café/restaurant, and many floors with things to see. Now for the room for improvement. This museum was too interactive with a complete dependency on smartphones. Maybe I don't have space to download the app or I have a child without a smartphone who is missing out. It's kind of a soulless place where information is replaced with interactive activities which yes, they inform, but in an incredibly overstimulating way. I really want to learn about Dutch TV national treasures and iconic television moments and not including this is a real missed opportunity. Combine this with all the information being in Dutch (if you're going to make me use my phone, at least have a translated version for your international guests). It's worth a visit if you have a museum card, but generally speaking, it feels more like an interactive play centre than a museum.
Claire W — Google review
Museum has a building with spectacular architecture. Very specious. It’s cafeteria is also nice with reasonable prices. Museum content is a bit mix of everything. That’s understandable as it is about radio, tv, gaming and internet at the same time. The interaction with material in museum by phones are interesting for kids and youngsters. However a little overwhelming for kids with too much screens and lights. They get exhausted at the end. For grown ups the content is less interesting. Overall good for a day activity with family. Also all the people working there were very friendly.
Emre — Google review
Excellent architecture, indoors and outside. Very nice museum, especially for kids. Recently renovated. With the National Museum Pass, entry is free. Easy to reach by train.
Michael B — Google review
It’s redecorated since 2-3 years ago, the themes are totally changed. Nice changes for the young people, but less for small kids. It’s recommended for kids above 8, and I think it’s reasonable. Elder kids, youths and adults will love here. A lot of programs about how to be an influencer, producer, director and so on.
Mini M — Google review
The building is pretty, but the museum isn't spectacular. Also, it is fully in Dutch. This might not be handy if you bring guests from abroad.

Singer Laren is a charming museum that houses a private modernist art collection, featuring expressionism and cubism exhibits. The premises are well-organized and clean, with English translations available for all texts and videos. Visitors can explore the impressive collection, which spans different eras, and enjoy the variety offered at the museum shop. The sculpture garden is a delightful feature to look forward to in the spring.
Happy to finally visit the museum. Incredible pieces of art. Laren has always been my favorite place in Netherlands and will always come back every time I visit the country.
Gladys C — Google review
Beautiful setting and great exhibitions at this lovely museum. Nice caffe and restaurant with a very good museum shop . The stuff are friendly and very helpful and quite a big parking space right outside. We enjoyed the visit.
Ron P — Google review
This post only concerns the cafe/restaurant of the Singer Museum and theatre. The place is relatively small inside, but with a beautiful large garden outdoors. Located in the centre of Laren, this place is full with the rich of t Gooi. Full of fancy dressed ladies, articulating well their accentless Dutch. Overweight gentleman with carefully dyed hair accompany them. Money talks. But! The atmosphere is still good, service by local youngsters is friendly and helpful. New Ukrainian fellow citizens took their chance on a job here and do so greatly. Plus, this month a full vegetarian menu. Never before did I have so many great options to pick. If you want to have lunch here, do it now and enjoy the good variety of veggy options. We had the very Dutch bitterballen, with local mustard and I tried the croque monsieur with eggplant. My friend had eggs with asparagus. All very nice and tasty. In the weekend it can be very crowded here, so be early for lunch and you may be able to grab a table.
Christy D — Google review
Parking is extremely busy, the art collection is not very remarkable, a very nice garden though. And make sure to book a time slot in advance, otherwise you will be waiting an hour to get in.
Anna E — Google review
The museum itself isn't bad. It's very small, only about five rooms if I remember correctly, and there are no truly outstanding works. It's a small private museum. What really bothered me was the exorbitant entrance fee: €19 for five rooms with mediocre works! €19!!?? What's this madness? I actually paid it because I thought, if they're asking for it, it's because the collection and the museum are truly worth it. But the surprise was terrible.
Francisco Q — Google review
Nice museum with a.o. impressionist and modern art. Excellent cafe restaurant in a really cosy setting. Small but beautiful garden. Very friendly personell eager to assist you. Reserve your visiting time in advance. And in the museum shop, you can choose an art peace, and after paying get the reproduction sent home.
Alex K — Google review
Nice collection, gathers different eras in an interesting story. All texts (and video) have also English version, which was a nice surprise. Wasn't expecting as it's not in a big turistic city. Premises are nice, organized and clean. The shop offers more variety than most museums I've been so far. For the museum is possible to enter with museumkaart. They don't have many suitable spaces to park bikes, but it was ok considering it was during the weekend.
Giovanna D — Google review
What a great museum. They have several temporary exhibitions. There is a nice gift shop and restaurant with garden seating to enjoy the lovely art garden.

The Filmtheater in Hilversum offers a unique and enjoyable cinema experience. The friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere set it apart from typical cinemas. Unlike mainstream theaters, the Filmtheater features small viewing rooms and a limited menu, but it excels in offering high-quality movies. From thought-provoking documentaries to artistic films from various countries, their selection is diverse.
A stylish and cozy place and a great escape on a rainy day. Tasty treats at the cafe and extremely friendly personnel. It is an inviting place to watch a selection of the currently most acclaimed films from the international festival circuit.
Gergana A — Google review
Very nice and cosy film house. It’s in the middle of Hilversum and best to reach by bike or walking. Parking in nearby parking garage is possible. The atmosphere is different than in the big cinemas. The movies are sometimes golden oldies like BasicInstinct or movies the big cinemas don’t show. There is also a very nice cafe and the choices of beer are great. Of course they have more. The staff is friendly and helpful and willing and able to chat or have a small conversation. That makes this place a very cosy and free place to hang out. The cinema rooms are small (50+ seats) but the quality of the film and sound is good. This film house is on the verge of expanding (see pictures)
Martijn H — Google review
Love this theater! Not only do they have great movies and comfortable seats. The food and drinks are very reasonable. Only suggestion is get better white wine! You can sit inside or outside before or after the movie. It is simply has a great atmosphere.
Lisa D — Google review
Lovely theatre. No popcorn, which came as a bit of a shock but many alternatives. Comfortable seats.
Terrence H — Google review
I've been to the Filmtheater a few times and every time I enjoy my time there a little bit more. The staff is friendly and the ambience relaxing. It's not your typical kind of cinema with big popcorn vending machines. No, on the contrary, their viewing rooms are small, their 'menu' is minimal, but the quality of movies is what I like the most. All of their movies are not the simple-minded Hollywood blockbusters, instead they provide a wide variety of movies ranging from documentaries and biopics to arthouse, from many different countries.
Vincent B — Google review
The Filmtheater is modern and comfortable. A great place to watch movies except the sound and screen don't match up to the modern dolby experience. But if it's not a blockbuster then it really does not matter. I'm a fan.

Avontuurfabriek is an exciting destination that offers a plethora of activities, making it ideal for birthday parties and team-building events. Families can enjoy laser games, bowling, and even catch a movie in their cinema. For those celebrating special occasions, there's an option to bring your own cake for a small fee. The venue also features karting and elastic football among its attractions. This versatile space is perfect for both formal gatherings and casual get-togethers.
Loved it, loved it, loved it!! The staff was super kind and helpful. I went over with my sons (12&10) and did the go-karts and glow-golf. Also had a snack there. My son was kinda scared to go on the karts so they limited his speed even more so he could get used to it. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

It is a great place to celebrate birthdays for kids of age 10+. We have tried bowling, laser game and elastic football. Laser game is definitely so much fun. There are also many activities for adults and a few for younger kids.
Bülent K — Google review
Had a great time! We drove around on toilets after playing paintball and finished it off with some drinks. Friendly staff, good vibes!
Lars M — Google review
What a great place that has all kinds of activities in one location. Perfect of any sorts of birthday parties (above 7/8 years old I would say) or team building. I booked it for my son’s bday. We did laser game, bowling & bioscoop. All the kids had a fantastic time. You can also pay something like €10 if you want to bring your own bday cake. They also have karting, elastic football, etc. Will go back again for sure.
Sophie B — Google review
We booked two activities at Avontuurfabriek as a group: first Paintball, followed by XXL Bubble Soccer. Overall, it was a fun and physically active day that brought a lot of laughs and good energy to the group. The organization was generally okay, although we did experience some longer waiting times than originally planned by the provider. This seemed to be due to limited staffing, which caused slight delays in the schedule. Understandable, but still something to be aware of if you’re on a tight timeline. Paintball: The indoor paintball setup was well-designed, with interesting and varied arenas that offered exciting gameplay. However, it’s important to note that if you’re planning to play for the full two hours, you’ll need to purchase at least 400 paintballs per person. The smaller packages of 100–200 balls are definitely not enough for continuous play and can quickly lead to frustration. After two hours of playing, we were definitely exhausted – it’s a physically demanding but rewarding experience. XXL Bubble Soccer: This turned out to be the highlight of the day. We would recommend it for groups of at least 8 people. Larger groups can also participate easily, as frequent player rotations keep everyone active without getting too tired. It was extremely entertaining and caused lots of laughs – perfect for team-building or just having fun with friends. Final Verdict: Avontuurfabriek offers great activities for active groups. Despite some minor delays in scheduling, we had a fantastic time overall. Bubble Soccer, in particular, is highly recommended – a guaranteed hit for any group event!

A beautiful, breathtaking, adventurous place for children. It was a very mysterious place full of excitement. We had a great day there.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday party at Spelekids. Kids had a blast at the party playing and having fun. I would highly recommend it for birthday parties or kids gatherings.
Neeraja R — Google review
Nice place for official and unofficial social gatherings 🤟 We had an office community event here which was very well organised. Half of us went for bowling and the other half for mini golf. After the game we had buffet dinner which had quite a few options even for vegetarians like me, along with some delicious gellati as desserts. Overall a nice place and we had a wonderful experience.

Castle-Museum Sypesteyn, located in the picturesque Vecht region, was built by Henri van Sypesteyn to preserve his family's 500-year legacy. The museum houses a captivating art collection and an exhibition on the Van Sypesteyn family. Visitors can explore the beautiful gardens and enjoy a guided tour to learn about the extensive collection and the history of the former residents.
Small but cosy castle. The castle was built at the end of 19th century with bricks from nearby abbey of 17th century. It has great collection of Dutch china. The collection of paintings is very interesting. My favorite was collection of arms. The park around the castle is very interesting and well maintained. These are many unique trees and plants. Do walk park even if you are not botanical nerd 🤓 Restaurant offers great sandwiches and yummy pastries. Special thanks to all staff who keeps this castle and passionate to tell about its history and collections. Reserve 1.5 hours or a bit more for the visit. A free parking is available behind the church opposite the castle.
Andrii P — Google review
The garden is beautiful and well -cared, it's a quiet place to enjoy. There is a restaurant there.
Luda E — Google review
Small castle (19th century) but very nice looking, beautiful gardens, very photogenic, ideal location for weddings/ party’s or just taking a walk in the gardens.
Jelle M — Google review
The gardens are truly beautiful and well worth a visit. The castle itself is nice, but please be aware that tours are mandatory and only conducted in Dutch. The guide did not offer any translation or responses in English, which made it difficult to follow along. At the entrance, they do provide a short handout in English, but it contains only minimal information. I was required to join the Dutch-language tour, and the guide spent about 45 minutes explaining just the first two rooms. At that point, I attempted to leave the tour, but the guide seemed visibly upset and uncomfortable about it. If the site wants to welcome international visitors, it would be very helpful to offer tours in English or at least provide an audio guide. More importantly, visitors should not be forced to join a guided tour—especially if it’s not available in a language they understand.
Eva — Google review
Stunning. Highly recomend it. The staff is friendly and absolutely knowledgeable. A guide presents you with particular pieces of the collection from room to room. The fun continues in the garden: you can sit by the fountain, visit the maze, or walk through different paths admiring diverse trees and flowers.

Flight Deck 53 is a popular spot for kids and their friends to have an active and enjoyable time. The location offers a waiting area for parents, although it can get crowded easily. The staff is described as amazing, friendly, and helpful. The facility provides anti-slip socks for purchase at a reasonable price. Additionally, there's a cafeteria with snacks available. It's situated not far from Hilversum center in a wire neighborhood, making it convenient for after-school activities.
Recently Bounce Valley took over from Flight Deck. So the trampoline park has been replaced by a massive bouncy castle playground. I have two young kids, and they absolutely love it. There a two massive slides that go quite fast, plenty of climbing opportunities, a little parcours in which you can time yourself and more obstacles to bounce into. We've been twice now and love it (so do I!). Bonus is that the socks are free this time ;-). The toddler kids need a bit more supervision here than at the previous Flight Deck though, so keep that in mind.

Vue Gorinchem is a relatively small movie theater that offers all the mainstream movies and allows you to customize your popcorn. The venue is clean, cozy, and has a friendly staff. However, parking can be a challenge due to its location. Despite this, it provides a good viewing experience with up-to-date movies and courteous service. Although the food may be slightly expensive, the overall experience is enjoyable with three halls available for screenings.
Cozy, comfortable seats, very accessible. For its size it manages to maintain a respectable selection of movies to show. will be coming here often!
Davide — Google review
Everything you want in a movie theater although it's relatively small, it features all of the mainstream movies, and you can buy popcorn to your liking. Only downside is that the smaller scale offers a smaller variety in movies.
Pietto — Google review
Too expensive for what they offer. No personnel during the break in the cinema 'Zaal 1'. On one occasion dutch parents allow to 5 bigger children to run around the complete theater, like in the gym, disturbing everyone. When I complained to the guy from the front desk he acted like that was completely normal.

Not a bad Vue but the location is hard for those with cars not always a spot to park nearby would chose an alternative or carpool

Clean, cozy, cameral premise, friendly staff, and up-to-date movies. Only minor nuisance is possible problem with parking places nearby
Lukasz L — Google review
Spent many movie nights at this theatre. Neat clean, good sound and picture. Staff is very courteous.

Nice small scale cinema. very friendly staff. Seats in room 2&3 are very outdated and uncomfortable.

Nice area for kids. Pity the lady at reception is almost rude.

Very beautiful playground in a enchanted nature area. It is a pity that is a little small and can become very crowded
