Lyndhurst Mansion, a 19th-century Gothic Revival estate located in Tarrytown, is situated on a sprawling 67-acre property. The mansion has been home to prominent families throughout Westchester's history, including the influential Jay Gould. Today, it serves as a museum showcasing art, artifacts, and furnishings collected by its various owners over the years. The estate offers self-guided audio tours that allow visitors to explore the house at their own pace.
The mansion was beautiful and full of amazing history and stories. Our guide Cathy was awesome, very knowledgeable and fun to listen to. The inside of the mansion was stunning, with really cool rooms and details that made you feel like you stepped back in time. But honestly, one of my favorite parts was the nature outside. The trees were massive and peaceful, the greenery all around made it feel so calm, and the rose garden was just beautiful. I could have spent hours just walking around outside. It was one of those places that feels both grand and surprisingly relaxing!

Classic mansion tour was great! This gilded age mansion has original furniture and is like stepping into the past. The grounds feel expansive but we could walk on our own without any kind of grounds tour and I don’t think we missed much. The day we went the bowling alley building was open with an interpreter there to answer questions so definitely make sure you wander down the hill! I had hoped the greenhouse would be restored since it’s on the map but it is not. The rose garden is nice but the greenhouse is just the foundations of one without any plants so don’t plan to spend much time there. But the rest of the lawn is stunningly maintained.

The Lyndhurst Mansion is simply breathtaking and a true treasure of the Hudson Valley. The Gothic Revival architecture is stunning, creating a dramatic and picturesque silhouette against the river. Walking through the estate, you immediately appreciate the incredible preservation of its opulent interiors and gorgeous grounds. Our tour offered fascinating insights into the lives of the families who resided there, making the history feel palpable and engaging. The staff were fantastic, and the views of the Hudson River from the property are spectacular. A truly unforgettable stop for history and architecture lovers alike!

Gorgeous mansion!!! Highly recommend it!!! Had an amazing time, the tour guide was such a sweet and knowledgeable lady! She answered all of my questions about the place, the history of it and the people who used to live there!! I took some amazing photos! The tour was about 1 hour and after it I walked for an other hour around the property. There is parking at the mansion, just follow the signs!
Maria A — Google review
We visited during the Gothic weekend. From the gothic mansion itself to the gorgeous grounds, everything was so lovely and well organized. They have shuttle buses if you park far. Parking organized and there is also a trail if you want to walk along the Hudson. Views gorgeous in the fall. There was a gothic market and tasting room that was awesome. The Headless Horseman was also making the rounds! Everything is so well thought out and planned. The staff is so friendly and kind. An EXTRA SPECIAL THANK YOU TO JOSE AND DAVID who work on the grounds! When we went back to the car, I had a flat tire. Jose and David came to my rescue and patched it. They were tireless and went above and beyond to help. My Mom and I made it safely back to Queens thanks to them! God Bless you Jose and David! Thank you! ❤️

09/06/25 A Gothic Revival mansion in upstate New York, designed by Alexander Jackson Davis and home to Mr. Pauling, Jr., a former mayor of New York City, Mr. Merritt, who hired Davis to return and expand the home to make it a suitable, full-time residence, and finally, Mr. Gould of Gilded Age, robber baron fame. You can easily spend the entire day at Lyndhurst Mansion. Similar to Old Westbury Gardens, the grounds are meticulously maintained, and it's being preserved according to original plans and documentation from the nineteenth century. We attended as members of the Victorian Society of New York, receiving a private tour of the home with Howard Zar, who was extremely well-versed in the entire estate, gracious with his time, and incredibly accommodating to our group size. We toured Alexander Jackson Davis: Designer of Dreams, which included documents, drawings, watercolors, and surviving furniture. And while this exhibit has ended, I highly recommend any chance visitors might have in the future to see such a collection.

Beautiful property and ground. The exterior is well maintained but the rose garden and the greenhouses are in shambles. Not sure why they are not being restored. The location is beautifully situated with the Hudson River just across and there's a path to a walking trail that leads back to tarrytown.
Aditi R — Google review
It is what it is - a big fancy mansion, guided tour explaining the rich history of the rich people who lived here, fairly neat and expansive mansion grounds that you can also explore for a few hours. Just don't expect any more than that. Эх! Люди жили!

Live music venue
Performing arts theater
Tarrytown Music Hall, a historic 843-seat Queen Anne theater built in 1885, is now a vibrant cultural hub showcasing live music, dance, plays, and films. Owned by the Friends of the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory, Inc., this non-profit organization brings top talents in performing arts to Tarrytown. As the oldest theater in Westchester and a National Historic Landmark, it attracts over 85,000 visitors annually from the tri-state area.
I recently had an absolute blast at Tarrytown Music Hall for their showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it was an unforgettable night! From the moment the iconic theme music started playing, the energy in the theater was electric. The venue itself is a charming blend of classic and modern, with its vintage decor creating the perfect atmosphere for this cult classic. It felt like stepping into a time machine. The crowd was enthusiastic, with everyone dressed up in their best costumes—there were plenty of sequins, fishnets, and, of course, lots of fabulous makeup. The audience participation is what makes Rocky Horror so special, and this crowd did not disappoint. The live shadow cast was fantastic! They brought the characters to life in a way that added an extra layer of hilarity and excitement to the film. Their energy was contagious, and I found myself laughing and dancing along with everyone. And let’s not forget the iconic scene with the props! It was so much fun to join in with the audience for the toast, the rice throwing, and all the other classic moments that make this show such a blast. If you’ve never experienced it before. Overall, Tarrytown Music Hall is the perfect venue for a night of Rocky Horror madness. The combination of the beautiful theater, the enthusiastic crowd, and the lively performance made for a night to remember.
Anais G — Google review
Nice old Victorian music venue. It's in the process of renovation but very nice and Carl Palmer rocked the place! Bathrooms are a bit small but I believe that will be addressed. Highly recommended.
Carl D — Google review
Tarrytown Music Hall is my favorite go-to place to listen to master musicians still in their prime after a very long and successful career, and who excel at playing solo. Last year I enjoyed listening to Rick Wakeman, this time Tommy Emmanuel (third time, better each time). The theater is relatively compact in size; it offers surprisingly good acoustic, even at last top row where I was sitting. The historic setting feels like an extended living room from a different era, offering an intimate connection with the artist, which makes the evening even more special. The light show was beautiful and perfectly synchronized with the music, a joy for both ears and eyes. The small size of the theater also makes it easy to get in and find the seat, and to leave after the concert. Right next to the Hall there are plenty of excellent restaurants of all cuisines and price ranges. A perfect place to celebrate great artists and evenings to remember for life.
Roberto S — Google review
An nice old music hall. It has a great story. They do concerts and are very involved with the local arts community. They are in the process of remodeling. It was a nice place to see a show but it was quit hot
Mike A — Google review
It was my first time attending a show at Tarrytown Music Hall, and I love the classic, historical look and feel of the venue. The sound and lighting was incredible, the venue was comfortable, I was very impressed! We will certainly be going back.
Michael V — Google review
Intimate historic location. Great acoustics and atmosphere for music concerts. Building is a bit dated but makes up for a great line up.
Sanjiv K — Google review
I am a big guy so the deaths are small and I did fit. It had the feel of an old school theatre. The show was great, and I would go again.
Jeff B — Google review
This is a very beautiful, old theater, set in the heart of Tarrytown. The seats are comfortable and there is a lot of room between the rows so you don't have to get up when someone needs to enter/exit the row. There is a pay parking lot at the bottom of the hill near the train station - it's doubtful you'll find parking available on the street. We saw Leonid & Friends there, a Chicago cover band. They were absolutely fantastic. My only complaint was that their voices were a bit muddy. I suspect this was due to their equipment and not any fault of the theaters sound system especially since this is a complaint that has been mentioned about other performances of Leonid & Friends at other theatres. Still it was a fantastic show at a really nice theater. The balcony does extend quite a bit into the theater. Front row seats in the balcony may be the best seats in the house.

Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate, is a historic landmark located in Sleepy Hollow near Tarrytown. It was once the home of the influential Rockefeller family and offers tours of its 40-room mansion, gardens, and art collection. The estate's name means "lookout" in Dutch and lives up to it with breathtaking views of the Hudson River.
This place had a few delightful surprises!! Definitely do the upstairs/downstairs tour to see the amazing artwork. I had a fantastic tour guide; his name is Colin. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and patient. Do get your tickets ahead of time because it's a popular place; at least it was in October. Interior photos are not allowed.
K L — Google review
Great experience at the Kykuit Highlights Tour. This tour is about 1.5 hours and covers the first floor of the estate and outside. There are other (longer) tours that include more of the estate if you like. All tours leave from the Visitor's Center. There is a large parking lot there...but there is also some overflow parking around the corner ii needed. The overflow lot is a short walk to the Visitor's Center. The center has a large shop with lots of gifts and souvenirs. There are also some snacks and bakery-items (coffee, tea, pastries) available for purchase. There are bathrooms and the ticketing area. You check in at the ticketing area and are given a hand band. A bus (very nice and comfy) will take the tour guests from the visitor's center to the estate...the ride is about 10 minutes. The tour guide will also be on the bus offering some information throughout the ride, including information on the structures and facilities within the larger estate as you pass those by. The tour itself was great...but I can see some may want to visit the other floors of the estate, which is only included in the longer tours. Lots of information throughout the tour. They do keep the schedule pretty tight though as I noticed our tour guide checking the schedule regularly to determine how much time to spend at each room. I understand this is crucial in order to accommodate the various timed tours but it does leave little room for asking questions and some of it felt a little rushed. Photography is ONLY permitted outside of the estate. You cannot take photos inside the estate. You are taken back to the visitor's center when the tour it completed. Overall I had a great visit. I would love to return to view some of the other offerings...such as the Philipsburg Manor. All staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.
Jemlnlx — Google review
This is a very good place to visit as it is a former summer retreat of John D. Rockefeller who was first American billionaire and the founder of Standard Oil. Well maintained and a great location with awesome views. However the "classic tour" does not let you see the whole house as the upstairs of the property is still private area owned by the Rockefeller family. The tour was about 2 hour and they took the group onto a bus ride from the ticket place to the Kykuit estate house.
Kosta R — Google review
The tour is quite extensive and the tour guide is knowledgeable about the Rockefeller family and the many many art pieces in the home and grounds. The tour includes first floor, massive grounds, basement art gallery, and carriage garages. Parking was at Phillipsburg mansion and then take a shuttle to the mansion. Be early as the shuttle does leave at the ticket time and it was quite busy.
Marie M — Google review
We did the Grand tour. Our guide, Dana, was very knowledgeable about the house and gardens. It was a drizzly day so we didn't get as much outside but additional spots were added on the inside. There are a lot of stairs. It is always fascinating learning about people from the past.
Beth G — Google review
We did the standard tour which is about two hours start to finish from the visitor center at Philipsburg manor. A few things to note: You CAN have water in a sealed container, but you may not drink it inside the house. All bags will be checked before entering the main house. Photography is only allowed outside of the house on the grounds. We’ve made it a habit to take our visiting family to historic estates we have yet to visit and this weekend it was Kykuit. While the house itself is impressive, it’s complimented by the various artworks and sculptures placed throughout inside and the grounds. The two hour tour gives you a nice tour of the main floor of the house, the main grounds, and the art galleries in the basement. Then, you get a peak inside the carriage house to view the collection of classic buggies, carriages, and cars. You start at Philipsburg Manor Visitor Center and they shuttle you to the house and back. There are several moments throughout the tour that offer spots to sit for those in need.
Eric B — Google review
The Rockefeller mansion. Kykuit, is an estate to behold, the bus ride up from Sleepy Hollow is fun. The house is spectacular as are the grounds. The home has a variety of different tours, with different price points. The panoramic view over the Hudson valley is truly magnificent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

I learnt so much from this tour: Stunning views, exquisite art work: it’s nice to learn about people who’ve built America. You have to buy tickets to see this place. I was amazed that the outdoor - an orange flams and railings were made by Tiffany. Very meticulously maintained. Loved the gift shop too.

The park features a boardwalk, viewing platform, splash pad with various water activities, playground, paved paths for biking and walking, and ample green space for picnics and play. Visitors can enjoy scenic river views while engaging in outdoor activities such as jogging, cycling, or simply relaxing amidst the beautiful surroundings.
Such a beautiful place to walk along the Hudson River, sit on one of the many benches to read a book, look through one of the view finders at NYC, play a game of a catch in the field or let your kids play on the playground.

Beautifully kept park, beautiful views of the river and bridge, big enough playground with sprinklers.

A Stunning Hudson‑side Park in the Heart of Tarrytown Pierson Park is a beautifully designed waterfront gem overlooking the Hudson River. I visited last spring, and it blew me away—from the scenic river views and sunset skies to the wide lawns perfect for picnics or relaxing. What I Loved: • Riverside Walks: The paved path along the river is fantastic—perfect for strolls or bike rides. You get incredible views of the Tappan Zee/Cuomo Bridge and even the NYC skyline on clear days. • Fun for All Ages: A splash pad and playground for kids, basketball, tennis, and bocce courts for everyone, plus open lawns for catch or sunbathing. • Clean & Well‑Maintained: Grounds are tidy, paths are clean, and facilities look cared for. Friendly Tips: • Parking Info: Make sure to park in visitor Lots C or D (metered most of the week). It’s easy to stray into residential-only or sticker-only areas. • Evening Vibes: Sunset here is magical—the bridge glows, folks fish or picnic, and the atmosphere is so relaxing. Just a few people mentioned occasional weed smoke lingering in the air.

One of our favorites parks. My son loves the splash pad. I love walking the trail with a great view. Lots of green space to run around. Great for a day long outing. Lay out on the grass. Have a picnic. Play with the kids. Enjoy a walk. Take in the view. Even go for 4th of July and other events

I remember when i was in Sleepy Hollow HS, this place was all dirt and rocks. I used to come here to escape for some peace and quiet. Fast forward to today, it still brings me the same sense of calm. I absolutely love coming here for my walks, and sometimes id go fishing with my son and husband.

Scenic Walking Areas
Scenic Hudson RiverWalk Park at Tarrytown is a serene and picturesque park that runs along the beautiful Hudson River, providing an ideal setting for leisurely walks, picnics, and nature appreciation. The park features paved pathways with stunning river views, riverside esplanade, lawns, grass terraces, and an eco-corridor with native plants. It offers amazing vistas of the river stretching to the Manhattan skyline and is a perfect spot to watch the sunset.
What a beautiful place to really breathe in the scenery. The coast overlooks the tapenzzi bridge which is a sight to see by itself. There's a cute little park for the kids and the real estate is unique from one property to the next. I loved the light house out in the distance.
In H — Google review
What an incredible place to be able to walk along the Hudson. Even though there is literally a gazillion new units constructed and going up it was not crowded. Great views of the sunset, and people are walking just waiting to catch it. There is a painstaking attention to detail in the layout of the walkways and places to sit. However, they mistakenly chose perennials that are going to exceed the height of the benches that are sitting right in front of the growth areas and they will eventually block the view. I'm hoping there is an alternate plan for when that happens. There could be more places to snack and or eat along the path. There is one restaurant along the way. There's another restaurant that is by the marina but that is really more pub food grub. And another one even further away from the walkway further south. I thought maybe some food trucks or even some lemon ice or ice cream vendors might have added a nice touch. If you are looking for a peaceful beautiful stroll put this on your to-do list you'll thank me for it
Michael I — Google review
Loved walking around, view of the Tap bridge is beautiful and want to go back on a clear or partly cloudy night to see the bridge lit up. There are restrooms, a playground and look forward to going back when the fall colors are closer to peak. Plus I have to visit the cemetery, I didnt have time this trip.

Scenic Hudson RiverWalk is a beautifully transformed waterfront oasis in Tarrytown. With its accessible paved paths, native landscaping, water access, and clean amenities, it’s perfect for families, dog owners, joggers, and sunset seekers alike. The iconic bridge and historic lighthouse add charm, making it a serene yet picturesque destination. Highly recommended for a leisurely visit anytime of day—especially at golden hour.

With the beautiful weather we’ve been having this Scenic Riverwalk is a MUST. Scenery is beautiful. You can enjoy all the views by walking along the river, you can have a picnic and most importantly it’s peaceful. There is tons of parking with a 4 hour max pay meter. Kayaking if you’re into water activities. View of Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge (formerly the Tappan Zee Bridge) in a distance. Get out to enjoy the fresh air and take a stroll along this little slice of paradise.

A nice surprise. Very clean, not to busy and plenty of parking. Very nice walk, there are benches, a very small beach and a restaurant. When hit, there's a small water fountain area for the kids to cool down.

Step back in time to the 1700s at Philipsburg Manor, a colonial trading center and manor that offers hands-on demonstrations and exhibits recreating life in the mid-18th century. Once owned by European farmers under the Philipse name, this historic property spans 52,000 acres and includes a grist mill, farm, and manor house overlooking the Pocantico River.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the house was stunning. We did the upstairs/downstairs tour which is what I was told at check in was one of the best options they have if you have the time to do it. It was about 1.5hrs and really neat! All the grounds staff are very polite and helpful. It’s a nice little get away near the city.
Jenna B — Google review
Wow what an amazing experience. Loved that people were dressed in period costumes but spoke as their normal selves. I had no idea slavery extended up north at one point and this tour was so eye opening. It’s also just very picturesque and lovely to walk around despite the sad history. The demonstrations were great and the first building watching the mill ACTUALLY operate and being able to buy the flour was INCREDIBLE. Will definitely return.
Kat T — Google review
We visited the Manor on. Saturday for the Twilight Village Halloween show. It was fun but could’ve been better. A little expensive at $30 a person and then to buy food and drinks inside that were expensive too was a bit much. A can of cider poured in a cup was $14. Would have liked a couple more vendors. Only one food truck. We loved the fire dancers and the appearance of the horseman. I think the various costumed characters should have engaged the crowd more and even interactive performances would have been good. No cohesion . Lots of strange unrelated little improvs going on around that were a bit lame. There was a huge barn all lit with a fog machine and we thought oh boy what’s in there? Well nothing. At one point costumed characters started dancing with little kids. Seemed like they themselves weren’t sure what they should be doing. Everything was disorganized. A staff member or performer should have announced what would be happening in the barn so people know to wait for the show or leave. Overall was cute and fun but I saw lost opportunities to make it a great. Interesting bit of history that made me sad was that enslaved people worked at the mill when NY was Dutch.
Shelley P — Google review
The Philipsburg Manor is a former Colonial era estate and well renowned historic destination located in the village of Sleepy Hollow, New York. The Philipsburg Manor is named after Dutch born landholder, merchant and slave owner, Frederick Philipse, first Lord of the Manor and patriarch of the Philipse Family, a prominent 18th century family that owned numerous slaves and vast quantities of land stretching from lower Westchester County, New York to Putnam County, New York. During the 17th & 18th century, the Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow primarily functioned as a mill and trading complex, and the main occupants were farmers and slaves. Carefully preserved historical documents shed light on the lives of the slaves who lived and worked at Philipsburg Manor, particularly the slave, Caesar who worked in the gristmill and the slaves, Dina, Massey and Sue, whom each worked at the Philipsburg Manor House and produced butter for commercial purposes. These documents reveal the harsh realities and brutal conditions of slavery at the estate, and that the labor of enslaved people played a pivotal role in the enrichment, wealth and success of the Philipse family, none of which was shared with the slaves. In 1951, the Philipsburg Manor would be acquired by John D. Rockefeller Jr, a highly successful financier and philanthropist, specifically through his organization, Historic Hudson Valley. Today, the Philipsburg Manor is still owned and operated by the Historic Hudson Valley and is open to guests for both self-guided and guided tours. Visitors have a chance to see and explore the site’s grist mill, the mill pond, an 18th Century barn, a slave garden as well as the Philipsburg Manor House, which primarily served as a production facility and was tenanted by slaves and farmers. Due to its rich heritage and its recognition as one of the few remaining Colonial era structures, the Philipsburg Manor House is listed on the National Register Of Historic Places and is recognized as a US National Historic Landmark. In July of 2017, my wife and I had the pleasure of taking part in a guided tour of the Philipsburg Manor and our tour guide did a great job on detailing the development and rich history of the site and its occupants. We also enjoyed viewing and interacting with the costumed interpreters that discussed the chores and daily routines of those that worked at Philipsburg Manor in the 18th Century. We very much thank the Historic Hudson Valley for providing an amazing guided tour experience. In October of 2025, I brought and treated my wife and myself to another visit to the Philipsburg Manor to attend the “Twilight Village At Sleepy Hollow” a Halloween themed event that takes place from October to early November at the destination. Like our guided tour in 2017, my wife and I also very much enjoyed our experience at the Twilight Village During our visit, we had fun viewing and interacting with live storytellers and musical performers. We were in awe of the red, green and purple LED lights that were fixed on trees and houses on the estate, and the playing of ominous music and sounds, all of which produced an eerie and exciting atmosphere. One of our favorite part of the Twilight Village was the pop-up market, where guests have access to purchase unique hand made crafts and goods as well as delicious meals offered by food trucks. Our other favorite part was viewing the brief live show at the “Haunted Hollow” which pays tribute to Washington Irving’s “The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow” by featuring the appearance of Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel and the dramatic entrance of the captivating “ Headless Horseman.” After the show, guests have the opportunity to view and take a selfie alongside the “Headless Horseman, a wonderful treat that I personally took part in. My wife and I very much loved all of our visits to the Philipsburg Manor and highly recommended for everyone to stop by and explore this historic destination, whether it be for a guided tour or to attend the “Twilight Village At Sleepy Hollow” event.

Went on November 2nd , on Sunday and had a lovely time. If you like history, this museum provides a glimpse into history of the farm and area around 1750 and onwards. They have a very interesting presentation on how the moved the mill at that time

We tried our luck as walk-ins. Not a chance. Currently there is the whole 1700's like village at display. Galloping horse sound effects behind you, mysterious fog infront. Halloween theme as you know it, with numerous of shows and attractions such as tarot card reading, fire dancers, headless horseman show, fire pit on the main square and much more. Be sure to buy your tickets online and be on time. By the way, the gift shop stuffed with Halloween gifts. The cafe offers warm beverages, so don't get cold!

Make sure not to come for the 3:30pm tour. When I arrived they said they close at 5pm but they start to close the historic buildings before 4:30pm. Strange how the same woman who was shutting things down & pushing people to leave at 4:32pm was earlier at 3:30 standing next to the person who gave me a wristband who told me they close at 5pm. I feel mislead since I didn't get to visit the historic buildings because I was taking my time outside.

Very fun experience for all of my party! We went for the twilight at sleepy hollow experience. It had festival vibe, short performances by costumes characters and lots of music and fire pits. Some of the attractions were either over for the night by the time of our ticket, or they simply had lines too long for us to want to stand in. It was beautifully lit up at night time. We went back during the day to wait for the shuttle to the Kykuit tour and the grounds are stunning in the daylight. I wish I could have gotten a ticket for a tour during the daytime.

Washington Irving's Sunnyside is a historic site located in Tarrytown, New York, offering visitors a glimpse into the life and imagination of the renowned American author. The former home of Washington Irving, this charming property features costumed guides, gardens, and stunning views of the Hudson River. Visitors can enjoy a detailed tour lasting about an hour, filled with little-known information about the author. The extensive gift shop on-site offers various souvenirs for guests to take home.
Wonderful tour and experience of classic American heritage and history. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The views and scenery are very nice to look at. I've been here over the past 4 decades and each time is something different. Will definitely be coming back for their legend of sleepy hollow themed tour this year and hoping they bring back the Christmas themed tours like I've been on in the past. The gift shop always has something I feel compelled to bring home with me. Highly recommended.

If you’re a fan of Washington Irving’s works a visit to his home, Sunnyside, is a must. The estate is 15 acres of Romantic landscaping and the home is a fanciful mix of Colonial Dutch and Gothic architecture. You must purchase a tour for entrance to the house. The grounds can be visited separately but entrance must be purchased to tour the grounds as well. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable providing insights into the ways Irving’s experience as Ambassador to Spain shaped his career and his writing allowed for a comfortable home life. Everything is arranged as it would have been in Irving’s lifetime with many original pieces on display, including two famous portraits of the author. There is also a good gift shop on site with public restrooms. Pro tip: visit late April - May to see the wisteria in bloom on the house and to view the gardens at their most colorful. Well worth the price of admittance.

The self guided tour was excellent. The guides that were stationed throughout the home were incredibly knowledgeable, bringing Washington Irving's life and work to life with fascinating stories and insights. Seeing the author's original study and library, filled with his personal belongings, was a truly special moment. You can see the room he died in. You get a real sense of his personality and his literary world. For history buffs, literature lovers, or anyone simply looking for a picturesque and enriching day out, the Sunnyside tour is an absolute must-do. I left feeling inspired and with a deeper appreciation for America's first internationally famous author. Highly, highly recommended!

Wonderfully restored and such a treasure to visit. Like stepping into a storybook. The guides are lovely and incredibly knowledgeable. Sunnyside has often been closed, and, despite growing up in Westchester, I had never been before. So thrilled to finally get the chance and well worth a visit.
Jessica R — Google review
Washington Irving's Sunnyside is the epitome of romantic, European-esque architecture and design. What makes Sunnyside so special is its intentionality; everything seems to melt together. Washington Irving was, and continues to be, an important cultural figure through his writing and it was surreal to experience what he must have felt looking out onto the Hudson (the house is basically neighbors with the river, so definitely worth it for the view of the Hudson alone!). The home itself is modest and very lived in compared to some more extravagant historic houses, but I am so glad that I visited. You can tell this was the home of an artist and writer, someone who is worldly and thinks about the details. I absolutely loved the natural landscape of the estate, and the blooming wisteria on the front of the property. I participated in the 45-min guided tour which included stops outside and inside of the property. I was told by my amazing tour guide (who did a phenomenal job by the way facilitating discussion and relaying information) that this season would be the first time visitors were allowed to take picture inside so I hope these photos inspire you to take a tour! I purchased tickets ahead of time, which I highly recommend. The tour started promptly. There is a restroom in the gift shop center, and parking is free on the premises. If you decide not to do a tour, then I recommend you circle around the house in it's entirety; in the back you can see an old ice cellar, and old outhouse toilets! Overall, I loved visiting and Irving's home left an impression on me, reminding me to slow down and be present.

Lighthouses
The Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse, also known as the Tarrytown or Kingsland Point Lighthouse, is a historic structure along the Hudson River. Built in 1883, it served as a residence for light keepers and their families for over 78 years before being decommissioned in 1961. The lighthouse offers periodic public tours and features a small museum. It stands as an iconic symbol of the region's maritime history and provides visitors with insight into its past.
I recently visited the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse during the Halloween season, and it was an absolutely magical experience! Nestled along the Hudson River, the lighthouse is a stunning sight. The lighthouse itself is a picturesque landmark, and I loved taking photos to capture the moment. I particularly appreciated the tales of local legends and ghost stories that tied in perfectly with the Halloween theme! I enjoyed wandering around the area, taking in the sights, and feeling the Halloween spirit in the air. If you’re looking for a unique way to celebrate Halloween, I highly recommend a visit to Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse.

There is a nice walking path running along the side of the Hudson River leading to the sleepy Hollow Lighthouse, formally known as Terrytown Lighthouse in sleepy Hollow, New York. You can get pretty close to it, but there is a gate blocking access so access is limited. It is a cute little White House, not far from the Tappan Zee Bridge. There is a wall lung, the opposite side of the path near the lighthouse that has lots of minerals/artwork… Other than paying to park nearby, visiting did not cost me anything.
K L — Google review
If you are a photographer or you like to take pictures, this is the best place to visit. It is about 1+ hours from NYC. I recommend visiting here at around 5pm or 6pm, depending on the season. The best time to take pictures is 10 or 20 minutes after sunset. Use a 35mm or 24mm lens for best results, with a shutter speed of 5 or 10 seconds.
Mirsaid A — Google review
This light house is beautiful. Unfortunately, currently due to construction, you can't actually walk across the bridge to get to the lighthouse. They are building apartments all over this area so a lot of roads close to the light house are blocked off. You can still get very close to it and admire the beauty from the bridge, you just won't be able to cross it. I will definitely be coming back when the construction is finished.
Erik Z — Google review
Beautiful lighthouse visible from either Kingspoint park or the sleepy hollow community mural. It has been renovated so it looks great glad I was able to finally see it up close. Only downside the bridge to see it up close it's still close for now.

Visited Sleepy Hollow for the first time today from KY and wanted to see the lighthouse. We found the beautiful Kingsland Point Park and were able to park and walk along the water to the lighthouse. The park is wonderful, lots of people having picnics, jogging, walking their dogs, and kids playing on the playground. The murals are awesome! The two ladies working the entrance gate were so sweet and very helpful when we asked for directions.

I was looking for a new place to to visit for memorial day and decided to come here.i didn't pay for parking and there's wasn't anyone checking maybe because of the holiday. There's a bike/walking path the east side of the lake. From top to bottom isxnot as long as it looks on Google maps. There's bike and kayak rentals available. The lake its beautiful and very peaceful. There's a spill/waterfall at the top of the lake near the road. It'd definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a nice walk or bike ride. Its only 5 minutes away from the downtown main street area. There's a few benches where and sit and enjoy the beautiful lake and scenery.

We were in Patriot's Park for the TaSH farmers market. It's a really pretty park, close to the schools and downtown shopping area. Bridge
The Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, formerly known as the Tappan Zee Bridge, is a modern marvel that connects Westchester to Rockland County in New York. This twin cable-stayed bridge offers dedicated paths for biking and walking, along with scenic overlooks and art displays. It replaced the original Tappan Zee Bridge in 1917 and spans the Hudson River, providing stunning views of the surrounding areas. The bridge's unique V-shaped pillars make it a distinctive architectural sight.
Very gorgeous bridge. It adds 40+ miles to the drive to go up to Tarrytown and across this bridge way above NYC. The bridge is stylish, colorful (lights are pretty at night). It is clean and I didn't notice any signs of slowing traffic. That all being said, I did not take this bridge on purpose. I ended up on this bridge in a cross country trip west to East and east to west, when my maps on my phone diverted me off i78 to 278 when traveling east which added 40+ miles to the drive. And when traveling West, I was diverted off i95 to 278 near Port Chester. Both times I was traveling at slow times and saw little or no traffic lit on the mapping tool, so I was not aware I was being rerouted to cross the Hudson bridge much further north. It could be faster if there's traffic down inside the city. Coming east, I was traveling after late at night and believed I was headed east on i78 from PA to NJ. after 17 hours on the road, it felt exhausting to learn I added almost an hour to my drive and I had been rerouted far north to then be required to cross that bridge and come all the way back south to I95 on the east side of the Hudson.

This is a very gorgeous twin span cable stayed bridge and that many vehicles pass through it daily. People can walk or bike across the bridge. The lighting of the bridge is wonderful at night because it can change colors when during special holiday or season.

Deepika S — Google review
Very wide and stable bridge! very beautiful too
Samantha C — Google review
The new Tappan Zee Bridge is more colorful, but did not solve the problem with the curves. In fact, the Tappan Zee Bridge is now even curvier and thus makes the bridge even longer. The Tappan Zee Bridge now has a walking path, which was a great addition, but it is too narrow. People taking photos clog the path and is dangerous for joggers and cyclists. The Tappan Zee Bridge also increased the toll from the longstanding $5 price.

Historical landmark
The Old Dutch Reformed Church, located in Sleepy Hollow, is a 17th-century stone church and cemetery that gained fame through 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.' The church offers free guided tours of the graveyard during the summer and self-guided tour books are available in local shops. Founded by early Dutch settlers in 1685, it is one of the oldest working churches in the country. The church is well-preserved and the graveyard contains headstones dating back to the American Revolution.
This was our last stop after we visited the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. It is well kept up. I was disappointed to see how "new" it looked given how old it is but I understand the need to keep it maintained considering it is an active church. We didn't get to go inside because there was a tour going on. It was a nice attraction none the less and it was cool to see the wooden shoes. This church is located on the main road so there is no street parking but there is off street parking

The church is beautiful from the outside. It was closed; a sign said it was for private tours only. The cemetery is steeped in history. A map is available for others. You can't miss this place; it's steeped in history. You should come prepared to walk a lot; there's plenty to see.

I visited the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow, and it was a truly enchanting experience. This historic site is steeped in charm and offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich history of the area. As soon as I arrived, I was captivated by the beautiful architecture of the church. The stone façade and classic design give it a timeless quality, and the surrounding grounds are equally lovely, featuring lush greenery and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s hard not to feel a sense of tranquility as you walk through this historic setting. Inside the church, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The interior is adorned with beautiful wooden beams and stained glass windows that create a serene ambiance. I appreciated the informative displays that shared the history of the church and its significance in the Sleepy Hollow community. It’s a wonderful place to reflect and appreciate the past. The churchyard, with its historic cemetery, is also worth exploring. Walking among the gravestones, some dating back to the 17th century, adds an intriguing layer to the visit. It’s a peaceful spot that encourages contemplation and respect for the area’s history. The staff and volunteers at the Old Dutch Church were friendly and welcoming, eager to share stories and answer questions about the church’s history. Their passion for preserving this landmark really shines through. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow. Whether you’re a history buff, a fan of architecture, or simply looking for a peaceful place to reflect, this site offers a unique experience that should not be missed. I left feeling enriched by the history and beauty of this special place and can’t wait to return!

Kingsland Point Park, located in Sleepy Hollow along the Hudson River, spans eighteen acres and offers a range of outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy ballfields, picnic areas, hiking trails, and fishing spots. The park features playgrounds for children and a splash pad for hot days. One of its main attractions is the close-up view it provides of the historic Tarrytown Lighthouse. Although currently undergoing renovations, the park has potential to become an even more attractive destination in the area.
Today my family and I visited this park. We love country parks by the water, this time we stayed here. Parking $10, a very nice woman sold us a ticket and told us what the park has. The area is not very big, but green. There are enough tables, grills, for us this is important because we love picnics. We were here from 12 to 4pm, at first there were very few people, then almost all the tables were occupied. The park has an embankment along which you can walk to the lighthouse and further to the pier, etc. Next to the park there is a fenced large area where construction is underway, but this did not interfere with relaxation. The embankment is new, well-kept, with gazebos and benches, there are also fountains with drinking water, which is very important in the heat, I did not find any fountains in the park itself. The only downside, like all other parks, is the companies that loudly listen to Latin/Mexican music, preventing others from enjoying the sounds of nature and just relaxing from the big city. I recommend this park!

Kingsland County Park is a beautiful spot located right by the Hudson River, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains, the lighthouse, and the Cuomo Bridge. It’s a peaceful and scenic place that’s perfect for families, picnics, or small gatherings. The park has a little beach area and several quiet sitting spots where you can relax and enjoy nature. There’s a $10 entrance fee, which would be reasonable if the facilities were better maintained. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were closed during our visit, and only portable toilets were available—these were extremely dirty and poorly maintained. The lack of clean restroom facilities and the poor service were disappointing, especially for families with kids. Despite these issues, the park itself is lovely and worth visiting for the views and atmosphere, but improvements in cleanliness and service are definitely needed.

This park is very relaxing right by the hudson river with playground, grills, bathrooms an plenty of parking. Park has a fee $5 for sleepy hollow residents and $10 for non residents. Park has several grills, there's a few benches facing the river. Park has a section where u can walk down to the water like a small beach. Dog friendly and just a place to get away specially if you live in the jungle that is NYC. You can walk and see the lighthouse and beautiful mural and of course great views of the MCB (tappan zee). Beautiful, albeit constantly under construction, park. I’ve been using this park, specifically the dog park, for a few weeks after relocating up this way. After jumping through the small-town hoops to get my dog locally licensed (a requirement to the dog park), it’s been a nice change of pace for my pup. Not usually too busy, peak hours have a few other dogs to play with. Working hose and plenty of dog bowls. Mostly a dirt park on a slight slope but plenty of room to run.

It's a free and accessible spot that captures the essence of this iconic haunted town. Visitors recommend taking a stroll around town to fully appreciate this highlight, as well as enjoying nearby attractions such as statues depicting the headless horseman and the historic graveyard.
This is the most charming little town. You can walk it’s main street filled with cute shops and every light post is adorned with American flags and flower baskets. There are many historical attractions here and this town is the centerpiece for the headless Horseman by Washington Irving. I would highly recommend coming here. We really enjoyed our time here.

Good photo opportunity for your visit to sleepy hollow. Parking across the street by the gas station and other side streets near by.

Well worth a visit, park up and walk around, and it's Halloween 🎃.

Very nice Clean And super essential to take a picture here Expect a line tho because everyone wants a photo and highly recommend doing this super early in the morning if you make it to sleepy hollow early and definitely before the sun sets. There a lamp on the ground shining on it but still it's not the same as with natural sunlight

During our recent family adventure to Sleepy Hollow, we stepped into a world where history and legend converge. Here's why we give this quaint town a glowing 5-star review: 🍂 **Historical Charm:** From cobblestone streets to centuries-old buildings, Sleepy Hollow exudes an irresistible charm. It's like stepping back in time, with echoes of Washington Irving's tales lingering in the air. 📜🏰 🌲 **Misty Landscapes:** The mist-shrouded Hudson Valley hills create an enchanting backdrop. We wandered through ancient forests, half-expecting the Headless Horseman to gallop by. 🌫️🌳 🏡 **Quaint Architecture:** The leaning houses, weathered shutters, and creaky gates felt straight out of a storybook. Sleepy Hollow's residents seem to guard their secrets well. 👻🏚️ 🎃 **Halloween Vibes:** Yes, this is where Halloween magic began! The legend lives on, and we reveled in the spooky atmosphere. 🎃🌕 📸 **Photo Opportunities:** Every corner begged for a snapshot. The Old Dutch Church, the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery—each spot held a piece of history. 📷 🌅 **Sunset Over the Hudson:** As the sun dipped behind the river, we felt the weight of centuries. Irving's words echoed: "A retreat whither I might steal from the world and its distractions and dream quietly away…" 🌆 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 **Family Memories:** Our kids were wide-eyed, imagining Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. Sleepy Hollow became more than a place—it became a shared memory. 💫
