Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House, Bistro & Bar is a charming family-owned establishment situated along the picturesque Kok River in Chiang Rai, Thailand. This cozy spot offers a delectable array of dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients, providing a delightful taste of northern Thai cuisine while also supporting the local community. The menu boasts an enticing mix of traditional Thai and European fare, catering to diverse palates. Additionally, visitors can indulge in an assortment of delectable cakes from the bakery.
I visited Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House several times during my stay in Chiang Rai. It’s a beautiful riverside spot with vintage charm and a peaceful ambience, perfect for relaxing with coffee or a meal. The drinks and desserts are well-prepared, and though service can be a bit slow during peak hours, it’s still a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the view. Truly, it's one of the best cafés l've ever visited.

Very awesome restaurant that has a beautiful setting on the river with a very relaxed welcoming colonial atmosphere. The food and drinks are high standard and reasonably priced. The service is efficient and friendly. This is definitely somewhere you should at least visit once during you stay in Chiangrai
Jason ( — Google review
We came here for a relaxed Sunday lunch and sat outside in the garden, which has a lovely, peaceful atmosphere with lots of greenery and a charming old house setting. It felt very chilled and a great spot to linger over a meal. The menu is extensive, with plenty of Thai and Western choices. I went for a burger, which was tasty and well presented with crispy fries, while my friend tried the stew, which was enjoyable but a little on the watery side. The smoothies are also worth trying — there’s a wide selection and mine was refreshing. Service was friendly and unhurried, and it felt like the kind of place you could easily spend a couple of hours. Prices are fair considering the setting and portion sizes. Overall, it’s a beautiful café-restaurant with great ambience, a wide menu, and a nice balance between Western comfort food and local dishes. Would recommend for a laid-back lunch or to simply enjoy the gardens with a drink.

When you come to Chiang Rai, Thailand, you must come to this restaurant to enjoy delicious food. The environment and service are of high quality and the price is reasonable.

Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House, Bistro & Bar is an absolute gem in Chiang Rai and an essential stop for anyone visiting the area. From the stunning, relaxed riverside setting to the exceptional service, everything about this place is top-notch. The food, in particular, was sensational! We were completely blown away by several dishes. The chicken wings were simply delightful—perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fish salad was an absolute highlight; light, fresh, and bursting with amazing flavour. And let me tell you, the slow cooked beef stew is an absolute must order—rich, tender, and deeply satisfying. I will absolutely and whole-heartedly recommend this place to all my friends. A must if you are in Chiang Rai!
Shantanu D — Google review
An impressive menu with an extensive range of foods, drinks and desserts. Excellent food, very attentive and efficient service, and a lovely serene and upmarket setting. We had the Australian beef stew, which was outstanding, the beef khao soi, which was absolutely delicious, bangers and mash (simple but delicious) and an egg white omelette with garlic bread (very tasty). Our server asked about allergies and made a spot-on recommendation about our son’s drink. Definitely worth a visit!
Taryn G — Google review
Really nice cafe overlooking the river, the No:1 motorway is fully in view but not really much noise, it’s just ugly and wouldn’t be correct not to mention it. Staff were very attentive, the food and drinks are on the expensive side but not stupid. Beer + coffee + two meals 775thb. Nice wee bits of interesting detail in the bar.

Chivit Thamma Da Cafe offers one of Chiang Rai's most beautiful and tranquil settings. This colonial-style white mansion sits right on the Kok River, surrounded by a lush garden that creates an atmosphere of pure relaxation. It's the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy a genuinely charming, picturesque experience alongside excellent coffee and homemade treats.

Thai restaurant
Khao Soi Restaurant is a must-visit if you find yourself in Northern Thailand. This popular dish, synonymous with the region, features soft egg noodles topped with a creamy coconut-based curry and crispy egg noodles. It's often served with pickled greens, limes, and shallots for added flavor. While variations of Khao Soi can be found throughout the area, it typically includes mild coconut-based curry poured over soft egg noodles and enjoyed with crispy egg noodles.
Outstanding - so good we went back twice. Every dish we tried was delicious. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Highly recommended.

Our visit was soo good! Stuff is sooo friendly and nice! We can’t eat spicy food and a cook made it a little bit spicy for real. It’s so cheap and tasty a lot! Aroi ma ka! Recommend it so much! This Thai food is the most delicious that I’ve tried in Thailand! 🩷🙏🏻 btw I recommend to try Khao Soi and so good
Таисия К — Google review
We just arrived in Chiang Rai and this was our first restaurant we visited. Yeap, the khao soi is a must-try! Also tried the pad thai and it was great too ✨
C C — Google review
Took us a minute or two to fine this place but we had been given a strong recommendation and the chicken khao soi lived up to the expectations. We also had the Tom yum soup which was strongly flavoured with lemongrass. The lady took the time to talk about what she puts in the sauces and other details that I’m keeping secret 🤐
Martin — Google review
close to bus terminal 1- just behind where you get off the buses. chicken khao soi was outrageously good- not too spicy, good sized portion. an excellent start to chiang rai. cat approved😻
Chris Y — Google review
Great Khao Soi and Tom Yum Soup, both great flavours. Very friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend.
Susan C — Google review
Located conveniently near the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar, Khao Soi Restaurant offers a relaxed setting with a simple yet authentic Thai food menu. While the restaurant is known for its traditional Khao Soi, we opted to try their fried rice during our visit. The fried rice was decent—flavorful enough for a satisfying meal, with a good balance of ingredients and portion size. It wasn’t anything extraordinary, but it did the job well, especially if you're looking for a quick bite near the bustling night market. Per fried rice was around 60THB if I'm correct. The atmosphere was calm despite being close to a busy area, making it a good place to unwind after shopping or exploring the nearby streets. Tip: It's a great spot if you're in the mood for a quiet meal near the night bazaar, but don’t expect luxurious dishes—just simple, homestyle Thai food.

This was the first place we ate when we arrived in Chang Rai. Khao Soi was so delicious that we went back again and again.. so good, and so sad we could not try it before we left since they were closed for renovations.

Flea & Street Markets
Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is a bustling and compact night market that offers a variety of experiences. Visitors can explore street food stalls, shop for apparel, jewelry, and gifts, and enjoy live entertainment. The market is located near the ancient temple in Mueang Chiang Rai district, which holds historical significance in the province. It features the prominent Emerald Buddha and other magnificent Buddha statues. Additionally, the area around Jedyod road offers backpacker bars and affordable dining options.
Nice and big bazaar. Basically similar to other night market in Thailand, but this one has more vendor, from housewares, toys, accessories, collectibles, veggies, fruits, juices, and mostly food. People walk one way, and turn to the other side of the road for the opposite direction. Hundreds of varieties of food, but mostly satay/grilled and fried food. I love especially Thai traditional snacks that has coconut milk in it. Very tasty and must try. There's also a few local musicians/talents that show their skills. And you can also dance or sit with locals in the huge area where people gather to dance, sit, and eat. If you're in Chiang Rai on a Saturday night, this market is a must visit.
Irene S — Google review
The food centre at the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar has a wide variety of local Thai food stalls. There’s a stage for live music, which usually adds a lively vibe—but during our visit, it was raining and the low season, so there were plenty of empty seats. Still, we had a great time! We ordered a hotpot that came with a generous basket of vegetables and a large plate of meat, prawns, and cuttlefish—all for just 200 baht. It sounded too good to be true, so we asked three times to confirm the price—and yes, it really was that affordable! We also got vegetarian gyoza from another stall and finished our meal with a tasty box of mango sticky rice for 50 baht. There are many stalls offering a good range of local dishes, so it’s easy to find something you’ll enjoy. Highly recommend this place for a casual and budget-friendly dinner. By the way, we had a fabulous massage just a 3-minute walk away at Chiang Rai Nice Massage. Definitely worth checking out while you're in the area!

The Saturday Night Market in Chiang Rai is one of the most impressive and lively markets I’ve ever visited. Stretching for what feels like kilometers, the walk through the market is long and seemingly endless, filled with a vibrant mix of food, culture, and shopping. It’s a true sensory experience that captures the spirit of northern Thailand. The food selection is absolutely massive. You’ll find everything from Lanna-style rice dishes, fried pork and chicken, pad Thai, braised pork rice, to sweet treats like Thai pancakes, fruit desserts, and colorful cakes. I personally tried the fried omelette rice and fried pork—both were cooked perfectly, full of flavor and very satisfying. The tom yum soup I had was also rich and delightfully spicy, a perfect example of authentic Thai cuisine. Beyond food, the market offers rows of clothing stalls, handmade souvenirs, and traditional crafts. While most items are reasonably priced, it's good to stay aware of tourist mark-ups. A little bargaining goes a long way here. Adding to the festive atmosphere is live cultural entertainment, including traditional Thai dance performances right in the middle of the street. Locals and tourists alike are encouraged to join in and enjoy the rhythm, adding a wholesome community feel to the market. Whether you're there to shop, eat, or just soak in the atmosphere, the Saturday Night Market in Chiang Rai is an unforgettable experience. It's a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the local culture in an authentic and exciting way.
Alex C — Google review
Must do in Chiang Rai, this little Thailand town is most alive at night. Most of the vendors are sweet and no pressure. But some of the best deals we found on zipperless luggage, and clothes souvenirs were at this market. For example, I purchased a brand new crocodile skin wallet (2 tone), high quality for 950 TB ($29 USD). Crazy! The Thai food is always amazing and please interact with the Thai people, they are the best. Tip - take the Tuk Tuk taxi’s every you can, they are unforgettable! We got the “wild ride of Mr. Toad” more than once! Highly recommend the night bazaar!
Steven N — Google review
Very different from the night markets in the South. Quiet and spread over a couple of streets, it has 2 central venues with a stage, one offering western music and another Thai music, both live. There are eateries surrounding the stage and has a party atmosphere about it. Kids running around and and parents doing their own things. Did so clothes shopping. The bust stand is the landmark if you have to Google maps it.
Christopher P — Google review
The Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is one of the highlights of visiting this laid-back northern city. Unlike the larger and more touristy markets in Chiang Mai, the bazaar here feels cozy, relaxed, and very local in atmosphere. The market is not overwhelming in size, but it has everything you’d want: rows of stalls selling handmade crafts, clothing, and souvenirs at very fair prices. You’ll find unique hill-tribe textiles, wooden carvings, and locally designed jewelry, making it a great spot to pick up gifts. Bargaining is possible, but most prices are already reasonable. One of the best parts is the food court area, where you can sample an amazing variety of northern Thai street food—from grilled meats and noodle soups to sweet treats and fresh fruit smoothies. There’s often live music or cultural performances on stage, which adds to the warm, festive vibe while you eat. What makes this night bazaar stand out is its friendly, unhurried energy. It doesn’t feel like a tourist trap, but more like a community gathering where visitors are simply welcome. Tip: Arrive a bit early (around 6–7 PM) to beat the crowds and get a good seat near the stage if you want to enjoy the performances with your dinner.

Cozy place to spend the evening at. You’ll find stands for food and local entertainment, which includes local music and dancing. Almost felt part of the Chiang Rai community thanks to the lovely vibes that this place has at night. Strongly recommended
Luca L — Google review
Highly recommend stopping by this Bazaar if you are spending the night in Chiang Rai. It is a must! The food, clothes, and souvenirs are MUCH cheaper here than in Bangkok and Ayutthama. The live music is great and the food at Chiang Mai Night Bay is amazing.

Hungry Wolf's Steak & Ale-House is a Western-style restaurant near Wat Phra Singh, offering a warm and friendly environment with hands-on owners. Guests can choose to sit in cozy booths or enjoy picturesque views of a nearby stream while savoring juicy steaks, indulgent burgers, and delicious pizzas. The restaurant is known for its high-quality Western flavors and American-style portions of ribs, wings, and more. It specializes in imported beef from the United States and Australia.
This place is an absolute gem! As a steakhouse, it truly delivers with a wide variety of meats cooked to perfection. Every dish we tried was incredibly flavorful, and the portions were generous – you definitely won't leave hungry. What really impressed me, though, were the excellent vegetarian and vegan options. It's not often you find a steakhouse that caters so well to everyone, and their vegan burger made with plant-based meat was a standout – delicious! Beyond the food, the service is top-notch; attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The atmosphere is really pleasant and inviting, making for a great dining experience. And to top it all off, it's surprisingly affordable for such high quality. They also have a great selection of desserts and drinks to round out your meal. Highly recommend!

Dinner time well spent at Hungry Wolfs Steak & Ale House 🥩🍽️ The food was absolutely delicious — every bite was full of flavor and perfectly cooked to my taste. It’s not only a great place for steak lovers, but also family-friendly, so the kids enjoyed their meal too!
Thanairat C — Google review
Love this place! The food is really good and the menu is full of options, we also loved the atmosphere of the restaurant - it’s like a true American diner/beerhouse. But what I especially wanted to compliment is the service - the staff was super attentive to our dietary restrictions and we ended up having a great dinner. We ordered delivery from the same restaurant the next day and it was flawless - I especially recommend the Reuben sandwich here, that one is definitely my favorite. Not cheap, but good luck finding another one nearly as good around here (or another one period)
Martyn S — Google review
Hungry Wolf is hands down one of the best places to grab Western comfort food in Chiang Rai. Their burgers are juicy and flavorful, cooked to perfection every time. The Pizza Chicken Bacon Ranch is a must-try — cheesy, crispy, and packed with toppings. I also loved their mozzarella sticks — golden, crunchy on the outside and perfectly gooey inside. Portions are generous, and everything is freshly made. Whether you’re craving a classic burger or something cheesy and satisfying, this place hits the spot. Highly recommended!
Dev — Google review
The service was good and the atmosphere was nice. We ordered three dishes. The appetizer was tasty and enjoyable. The chicken pesto had a great sauce, but unfortunately the chicken had an odd taste and smell — it didn’t seem very fresh. The teriyaki salmon was cooked soggy. Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the main dishes and wouldn’t return.
Honey B — Google review
Best Beef Brisket Burger and Meat pizza! Everything so delicious and very good price for the amount, the portions are so big, I would recommend if you order pizza for 2 with another dish to try, order the small pizza, we ordered large and it was too much, but still very yummy and tasty 😍
Carly T — Google review
Our go-to Western restaurant whenever we visit Chiang Rai! The food is always delicious, portions are generous, and the atmosphere is so cozy. It’s become a must-stop for our family every trip – we never leave Chiang Rai without having a meal here.

Known for its eye-catching setting and delectable vegan dishes, Kunda offers a wide selection of attractive options including salads, toasted bread, smoothies, coffee, and saffron milk.
We have the pleasure to visit Kunda veggie burger on our last night in Chiang Rai. It was simply the best vegan burger I ever had! Love the homemade hot & smokey sauce & the turmeric lime & ginger drinks. It was nice chatting with the friendly owner (🧑‍🍳), I was very inspired by her life journey from Europe to first moved to Koh Lanta a beautiful island in krabi then to Chiang Rai to follow her dream & her passion for cooking. And I must say it is such a beautiful place & food that she has created. Definitely recommend to all my friends who visit Chiang Rai 🫶❤️

Beautiful, relaxing space with delicious food and a gorgeous view of the temple across the street. Attention to detail in everything, the menu, the plating, the dishes, everything was so pretty. The food was delicious, best vegan burger I've had in Thailand. They make their own hot sauces too! The chocolate dessert is not to me missed. If you're in Chiang Rai this cafe is definitely a must visit! 10/10

Such wonderful experience tasting the vegan burger, the tomato tangy base complement the patty well. Also try the three home-made sauces. There's no description for the sauces, so ask the kind lady chef to explain her wonderful creation.

**Truly Magical** I haven’t had such a delicious meal in a long time! I had the Karma Burger, which was absolutely fantastic, along with a very tasty drink and an incredibly inspiring conversation with the owner. If you’re looking for amazing food, a great atmosphere, and a fantastic view of a beautiful temple, this is the place for you! I highly recommend it, and if I weren’t leaving tomorrow, I would go back in a heartbeat. A little tip: Don’t miss the chocolate cake - it tastes divine!

So I had the chance to taste one of the best vegan burger in my 3 year journey of plant based diet, I couldn't help but marvel at the indomitable spirit of Lena and family (sorry if pronounced your name wrongly) to pursue vegan cooking despite facing various sorts of challenges. This is what compassion packed with the courage looks like! Keep following your passion it is reflected in delectable food you serve to us. Kanda Cafe is much more than plant based food it is the unwavering spirit to be conscious with mindful eating and living. Kudos!

Pad Thai - Thai Food & Drink in Chiangrai is a cozy restaurant that offers a variety of traditional Thai dishes, with a focus on their delicious vegan pad thai. The food court and beer garden create a social atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to enjoy the aromatic flavors of their dishes. While the massaman curry was highly recommended, the veggie options were limited during one visit. However, the friendly staff made up for it by offering complimentary fresh fruit for dessert.
Super delicious food and friendly atmosphere! I had the pad Thai which was full of flavour. They gave me free peanuts to start and a plate of fresh food afterwards. I cannot recommend this place enough. The portion was huge and filling and the owner and son were so kind. I would always eat here!

We had dinner here. Place is not crowded. Service is best. Once we sat down, they handed us free nuts. The meal (Thai foods) we had taste incredible. They gave us also free fruits as dessert. Owner and chef are very kind. Food price is average.

Fabulous pork and rice dishes. We had Stir-fried hot basil with pork and rice and Stir-fried chillies with pork and rice. Both dishes were delicious and fantastic value. Price includes a large beer.

One of the best Pad Thai :). Cute old couple, very friendly and nice. Eating here warms your heart somehow.

A small shop along the road, with mother and son working and managing the shop, and with their cute little dog. In contrary to low star reviews, the lady welcomes us with much respect and care. She speaks some English phrases so we understand one another. She also gave welcome fruits and complimentary peanuts. Price is quite expensive over other local food but still reasonable with the serving. We were able to take home our leftovers and even the complimentary fruits. We highly recommend the pad thai in this place.

Pad Thai - Thai Food & Drink in Chiang Rai is a true culinary gem that celebrates the vibrant flavors of Thai cuisine. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for an incredible dining experience. I ordered their Pad Thai, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The noodles were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of chew, and the balance of flavors was spot on—sweet, tangy, savory, and a touch of spice. The fresh ingredients, including crunchy bean sprouts, zesty lime, and aromatic peanuts, elevated the dish to perfection. It’s clear that a lot of care and expertise goes into every plate they serve. Beyond the Pad Thai, the menu offers a wide range of classic Thai dishes, each prepared with authentic flavors and beautifully presented. The attention to detail and commitment to quality truly shine through in every bite. The drinks menu is equally impressive, featuring refreshing options that pair wonderfully with the food. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that my visit was comfortable and enjoyable from start to finish. Whether you’re a local or a traveler exploring Chiang Rai, this is a spot you simply can’t miss. Pad Thai - Thai Food & Drink is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Thai cuisine. I can’t wait to return and try more of their amazing dishes. Highly recommended!

The extensive menu features savory dishes, delectable cakes, and an array of beverages, including top-notch coffee. Guests can savor their treats while enjoying picturesque views of the river and Ko Loi Public Park. This charming spot is perfect for indulging in tranquility while relishing delightful culinary offerings.
The owner and entire staff were wonderful. This is a hidden gem, tucked away on the river and perfect for visiting after the Blue Temple in Chiang Rai. The river provides a peaceful atmosphere and the food was fresh and delicious. The inside of the cafe was decorated immaculately and I would highly recommend going off the beaten path here versus eating in central town. Worth a bit higher prices than what you are probably used to in Thailand. I spent $568baht on eggs Benedict, French fries and iced coffee.

What a cute little place. The menu is huge and everything looks so good that is hard to make a decision. Food and Desserts are amazing. Beautiful location to stop and have diner after your visits the white and blue temples. Service is great!!!! The chef even came out to explain us questions about a dish. Great meal. Too bad that some guest complained that we were being too loud and asked us to keep it down. We were not being loud at all. Just five people enjoying a good dinner.

We came here twice. They have a nicely decorated European style café & restaurant. The coffee and tea and food are very good. Friendly staff and great river views. It's a quiet and charming place to feel relaxed and at home. The pizza has a thin crispy bottom and the cheese/mozzarella was good quality.
Hidde V — Google review
This café used to feel more lively when I last visited in 2021, but it still has a great atmosphere. The service was a bit slow this time, and the food and drinks were average. That said, it’s still a lovely spot for hosting events or private gatherings — the vibe during sunset is especially beautiful. If you haven’t been here before, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Located on the Kok River, this cafe has a lovely English garden setting!!! The menu features a mix of Thai and fusion dishes, and the taste was pretty good!!! You can enjoyed the outdoor seating area with the river views. This is a nice place to relax!!!

Every single moment and bites was amazing. The location is so elegant and beautiful, the garden is like the eden. We really enjoy here!
Roberta S — Google review
Beautiful manor house by the Mae Kok river. The Melt in Your Mouth restaurant & Cafe is the best! The cheese cake is a Japanese version, it was quite chilled when served so wait and let it warm so the cheese softens before eating. 145baht. Coffee expresso 60baht. The salad also looks good.
Yulea X — Google review
This is a nice restaurant facility and location. The outdoor seating is wonderful. The food was quite disappointing. The “American” style dishes are off the mark, the Thai inspired dishes lack a complex flavor profile I expect in Thailand. And I’m sure the the corn/carrots/peas were ether frozen or from a can. The “pizza” was absolutely horrible and I believe it was from a frozen pizza.

Night market
Walking Street Chiang Rai is a bustling market offering a wide range of experiences for visitors. From street-food stands to wooden carvings and batik clothing, the market is filled with options. In addition to shopping and dining, the street also features Thai spas, handcrafted products, folk concerts, and Thai dance shows. Local performers entertain on a mini stage while art and craft stalls showcase their wares.
Such a fun thing to do in Chiang Rai 😊 Just make sure you have your transport sorted. I loved the very interesting shops, the food and the vibe. Truly a community set-up. You can even dance to live music out in the open.

Good place for walking around and shopping local things. Buy some kinds souvenir for your family and friends.

Chiang Rai Walking Street on Saturday nights is a vibrant feast for the senses! Tons of delicious local food and unique handmade goods from friendly vendors. A must-visit for a taste of local culture. Remember, parking is unavailable, so hop on public transport for easy access!
Sierra C — Google review
There was, of course, a wide variety of food vendors. What was different from the night markets I've been to before was that they also sold non-food items like clothes and toys. It was a really huge night market.
Yuto — Google review
What a great market. So much on offer and so much to see. If you are going to come here when they are on don't go eat during the day wait till you get here and stay all evening it's worth it also with live entertainment (weather permitting)
Daniel D — Google review
Chiang Rai Walking Street is a vibrant Saturday night experience where Thanalai Road comes alive with local culture, food, and crafts. It is not like Bangkok or Pattaya but have colors. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, with a strong local vibe that feels authentic rather than overly touristy. You’ll find a wide variety of stalls selling handmade crafts, hill-tribe items, souvenirs, and delicious northern Thai street food like khao soi and grilled sausages. Live music and traditional dance performances add to the charm and create a festive community feel. Prices are reasonable, and it’s a great spot to mingle with locals, try regional dishes, and shop for unique gifts. A great place to explore for a few hours, especially in the early evening before it gets too crowded.
Shahzad S — Google review
So many food stalls and it'so cheap. Tried a lot, loved it all. Higly recommend, every friday evening. Also has community dancing (thai style linedance) and an overall great vibe.
Michael P — Google review
A great and affordable option to try lots of Thai street food. Come early for the dancing at the main stage. Be prepared with an umbrella and bug spray.

Nestled along the Mae Kok River, De Lanna Riverfront Café & Restaurant in Chiang Rai offers a relaxed atmosphere and authentic flavors of Italian and Thai cuisine. You can also immerse yourself in Northern Thai (Lanna) culinary traditions with a cooking class. The restaurant boasts outstanding service and breathtaking river views, making it an ideal spot for a delightful dining experience.
Accidentally ran into this Coffee n Restaurant. It's a huge open space by the river front. Can host a banquet. Chinese, Thai and Western food served here. Services staff is great. Food is tasty, the portion is large. Prices are decent, some can be cheap for the setting. The view of the river is chill. Highly recommended when you're in Chiang Rai.

De Lanna Riverfront Café & Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience with a diverse menu. Our order included fish, chicken, crab, and vegetables, accompanied by a comforting hot Americano and refreshing mineral water. The food is commendable, showcasing a well-balanced blend of flavors and quality ingredients. Each dish, from the seafood to the poultry and vegetables, contributes to a satisfying dining experience. One of the standout features is the picturesque view, providing a charming backdrop to the meal. The restaurant's riverside location enhances the dining ambiance, creating a serene atmosphere that complements the culinary delights. The ample seating options allow guests to choose between intimate settings or more open spaces, catering to different preferences. Conveniently located near Le Meridien Hotel Chiang Rai, the restaurant provides accessibility for both locals and visitors staying in the vicinity. Whether you seek a leisurely meal or a scenic spot for a special occasion, De Lanna Riverfront Café & Restaurant proves to be a versatile and appealing choice. A delightful blend of good food, pleasant surroundings, and accessibility makes it a noteworthy destination in Chiang Rai. 🍽️🌊☕
C G — Google review
De Lanna Riverfront Café makes a strong first impression with its large, modern design and stunning riverside view. The setting suggests a premium dining experience, and the relatively high prices on the menu reinforce that expectation. Unfortunately, the reality doesn’t live up to the promise. While there are staff present, the basic table setup is missing—no cutlery, no plates, no napkins—leaving guests to wait or ask for essentials that should already be there. The service itself feels unprofessional. During the meal, three waiters stood nearby, staring, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere and a lack of privacy. As for the food, it’s clear that little effort went into its preparation. Despite the high prices, the dishes arrive quickly and taste bland, lacking the quality and care one would expect from a restaurant in this price range. In short, De Lanna Riverfront Café has the look of a great restaurant, but beneath the surface, it falls flat due to poor service, a lack of basic table standards, and uninspired food.
Louis R — Google review
We had a splendid diner in a great environment, romantic view over the river, the portions are bigger as usual. The fried fish northern style was the best ever, made in delicious herbs and served ready to eat. The Thai dessert was at first sight simple but omg this was so mouthwatering we could order a second one. The service was excellent, fast and efficient

If you're looking for a delicious and affordable Khao Soi restaurant in Chiang Rai, then you should definitely try Khao Soi Vijittra. This family-owned business has been serving up northern style soup for years and the result is definitely worth it. In addition to the famous Khao Soi, be sure to also try the Khanom Jeen Nam Ngiao while you're there – it's one of the most delicious and cool versions I've ever had!
Very traditional eatery, with traditional flavours. (e.g. more spicy (not too much) and don’t ask spicy level) Friendly service and clean in- & outside. There are 5 tables of 4 pax available in an airconditioned room. Perfect spot, just outside the city centre. Paid total of 275 Baht for 3 main dishes, Thai sausage and 2 water bottles
Ellen W — Google review
They have a variety of khao soi with different proteins aside from your standard chicken and beef. They have sea bass and ribs which is what I ordered plus an order of spring rolls and pork satay. You order by marking on the order sheet and then bring it to the cashier. Then pay after you finish eating. There is a table in the middle of the restaurant to grab your toppings and ice. It was a good portion and tastes good. I do prefer my noodles to have a bite to them and not just soft. I would skip the appetizers and stick with the khao soi. The pork satay was tough and chewy and the fried spring rolls were meatless.
Hi A — Google review
Before we left Chiang Rai, we visited Khao Soi Thao Gae Ek for brunch... We ordered Khao Soi (one is Pressed Pork and another one is Beef), Stir-fried Minced Pork and Holy Basil with Egg and Rice, and Pork Satay which all are delicious. But what I like the most is they have a buffet of Khao Soi's side dishes to provide. Very impressive 😊

-Khao soi chicken is good, creamy and not too much spicy -nam ngeoy pork mince is the best, but some spicy. They do well on Pork and soup
Issariyaporn — Google review
Saw this in place in a YouTube video from the Roaming Cook so I thought I would give it a try. The food was pretty decent. The Khao soi had its flavor on point Crispy pork, that's different. Spicy the way I like it. Also had some fried bird of some sort. Was Yummy as well. Was marinated and fried. I also took some food to go for me mum. She had fried rice and pork satay Over all it was a good lunch outing.

The best Khao Soi we had in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai. The broth is super tasty, not so sweet like other places. The pork belly in there was superb, crispy and tender. Also the spring rolls and dumplings were really tasty. The staff is super friendly at all times. If you want a really good Khao Soi you can go there for sure!

Noodle shop
Nam Ngiao Pa Suk is a renowned Lanna dish featuring fermented rice noodles known as khanom chin. It is widely popular in Thailand and can be found in various places in Chiang Rai, each with its own unique characteristics. The dish's name is said to have originated from the cotton-tree flower, dok ngio, which is served as a side condiment with Nam Ngiao.
I’m not a fan of Nam Ngiao But I like it a lot!! Pa suk recipe is so intense!! And delicious!! As people talk!! We tried a few places in Chiang Mai that are famous also but there is the best!! Recommended to try pork and meat to find which type you like the most!!
Sukanya.P — Google review
Recently visited the shop and overall I had a great experience. The taste of the food is really good, the flavors were satisfying and well seasoned. They served the generous portions. One things I appreciated was the multilingual staff and able to communicate in Thai, English and Burmese. It is solid choice for anyone looking for a healthy meal. Definitely consider to visit again.
Victoria M — Google review
This was quite honestly one of the best things I’ve eaten in my life. For 40 baht!! I walked in and a very nice man asked if I eat pork and spicy. I said yes, he asked which noodle. I chose the skinny one and he told me to sit down. They brought out this amazing soup. It’s spicy. I don’t know what they do to the pork, but it’s absolutely amazing. The noodles taste fresh and are so delicious. It comes with a large side of sprouts. The soup also has a lot of blood jelly, which isn’t my favourite so I left most of that behind. It’s very oily, but so so good. I went at 11am on a Saturday in July and it was pretty busy with locals. There is small medium and large. Small was plenty for me. It was 40 baht !!! So well priced.

Busy local nam ngiew noodle place. Soup base is hot & hearty. Good taste. Noodles is smooth. Service is good and efficient. Love it.

น้ำเงี้ยวป้าสุข is one of my favorite spots for Northern-style Nam Ngiao. The flavors are rich and perfectly balanced, offering an authentic taste experience. You can choose between beef or pork, both of which are cooked to perfection. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious bowl of Nam Ngiao in Chiang Rai.
ULtimateG P — Google review
Iconic place of Chiang Rai. If you want to try local noodles and local food. I recommend you to give them a try.
Woody P — Google review
The soup is very good, the flavor is strong. But the beef I ordered was too tough to chew without effort. I think this shop is overrated. It's not as good as I thought if compared overall. The pork casserole was hard as if it had been there for a long time. People were fussing about it. It wasn't worth waking up early to join the queue to eat the overgrown people.
MON M — Google review
The taste is same like other shop. A greasy soup, foods over here is quite spicy though. The coconut curry with rice noodles is much better if you don't like oily soup.

Restaurant
ร้านคุณยาย by Chef Keng is a modest eatery tucked away on a quiet street, offering an array of delectable dishes at reasonable prices. The menu features beef noodles, crispy pork, stewed pork with basil, and renowned crab omelets that have garnered praise from both locals and tourists. Despite its unassuming appearance, the friendly staff and availability of an English menu make ordering a breeze.
Like others, this was one of the best places we ate on our entire trip to Thailand, I only wish I had another day to try more. We had soft shell crab with papaya salad, pork satay, and tom yum seafood. It was all totally delicious.
Alistair — Google review
The food was very delicious and clean. Prices might be a bit high, but considering the ingredients and quality, it's definitely worth it. I highly recommend the crispy pork – it's truly delicious and crispy. The entrance to the alley might be a little narrow, but the restaurant has ample parking.

The food is excellent and the prices decent! Ate here twice during our short stay in Chiang Rai. We especially liked the crispy pork. Chinese broccoli was good too.

Good food with local taste with reasonable price The portion is good and taste good too Love the smokey flavour from pad sew and lad na The roast pork belly also great We also love their spicy soft bone pork soup The owner can speak english make it easy for us to order
Minerva A — Google review
Oh man!! Such amazing food! The place is very simple and hidden on a small street but the food was fantastic. Simple makes perfection sometimes. We ate so much that we had to cancel our other plans and go back to the hotel to lay down. The food was very inexpensive (around 60 baht). The people were great. They don't speak a lot of English but they speak enough to get you everything the way you want it. We were in northern Thailand for 15 days and this is the place we liked the most. We went to fancy restaurants and many street food vendors, but this one hit different. If you are looking for a nicer place with fancy decor, this is definitely not the place. But if you want local food with home made taste, this is the place to go.
Victor — Google review
It's a bomb - that's basically the definition of a good meal - fried Barramundi fish was amazing, goes perfectly well with the mango salad, my 200 baht side dish portion was huge. Pork bone soup was so good, soft meat, amazing taste. Pork leg was also good. So, discover this local gem to feel rejuvenated and totally satisfied. I would rate it higher, if I could. A must visit. All ingredients are top quality, fresh, cooked to perfection. Don't judge the book by its cover - the dishes are restaurant quality. Menu in English. Chef Keng is not a grandma as was mentioned in a previous comment, it's a handsome man with a mustache 😉
Ksenia K — Google review
(November 2023) The menu was very extensive but the crab omelette dish immediately caught my eyes and I think it was one of the most delicious & pleasant meals I’ve had in my life so far 🥺 The food here was inexpensive, we paid 200 THB for three dishes. The kitchen was very lively the whole time and the seating was outdoors.
Michaela N — Google review
I had the pleasure of eating at Khun Yay by Chef Keng on my recent visit to the area. The restaurant offers some of the tastiest and most reasonably priced Thai food I have ever had. The ingredients are all fresh and expertly prepared. The menu features traditional Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup, and Kai Kaaw. The restaurant also offers a variety of special dishes. I particularly enjoyed their Bang Mank, a Burmese specialty. Other dishes included Stir Fry Chicken, Fried Rice and Mango Sticky Rice. All of these dishes were beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. The service was friendly, helpful and very attentive. The staff was more than happy to answer all of my questions about the dishes on the menu and offer suggestions. All in all, I am very pleased with my experience of eating at Khun Yay by Chef Keng. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for delicious Thai cuisine at an affordable price.
