Coffee shop
La Saison Bakery is a charming bake shop in Cambridge, founded by pastry chef and chocolatier Soheil Fathi. Originally established in Tehran, the bakery offers a delightful array of treats such as sourdough-crust pizza, artisan bread, gourmet pastries, and high-end chocolates. The menu features delectable cakes like Honey Apple and Chocolate Pudding slices or whole cakes like Vanilla Rosewater Nude design.
Got the Iced Rose Latte (half sweet), Peaflower Tea, Feta Za’atar Scone, Pain Au Chocolat, and Orange Cardamom Scone. The rose latte was spectacular! The drink was very well balanced: it was adequately strong, milky, and sweet. The homemade rose syrup tasted really good without taking away from the coffee taste. The Peaflower tea was also really good and unique. The highlight was the Feta Za’atar scone. Beware that it’s a bit salty, but I enjoyed it. The pain au chocolat was a miss imo as the dough wasn’t flaky enough and the chocolate filling tasted mediocre. The orange cardamom scone was pretty good, but nothing spectacular.

This place is one of my favorites—I’m a big fan of their sourdough. The pastries are great too, but the sourdough really stands out as some of the best in Massachusetts. But the coffee... I was honestly shocked by the milk foam today. Given the price and the beans, it should be at a specialty level, but the barista clearly didn’t put any effort into it. I wasn’t even expecting latte art, but I did expect a bit more care than this
MJ — Google review
The La Saison is a great bakery shop. The rose latte and Saffron latte were so delicious. Their cheesecake “Akbar mashti” was also delicious and not only packed with sugar. We got also breakfast sandwiches that were good too. I would come back again for lattes and pastries!
Aref A — Google review
Sandwiches are generally available after 10 am. Egg burger with cheese is nice however, it'd be better to put some leaves. Croissants are good. They have various bakeries, chocolate cakes and rolls.
Fuzuli A — Google review
Croissant was quite good (especially for Boston) with a very good pull and nice loud crunch sound. Kouign Aman was delightful, light and sweet. Pain au chocolate was not bad—very nice dark chocolate but the pastry itself was a bit less puffy and crispy than I would prefer. Outdoor seating only, the vibes are great, queer friendly, and relaxed(even if the construction across the street is awful and has been going on for years).
Jared — Google review
The bread here is significantly overpriced for the quality. Paying $7.50 for a barbari bread that isn’t exceptional feels unreasonable. The long lines, crowded space with no indoor seating, fancy lattes, and Americanized Middle Eastern offerings generate hype and make the menu accessible to a wide audience, but the bread itself doesn’t measure up. There are other bakeries that offer tastier breads at far better value. Gyumri Lavash, Clear Flour and Hungry Ghost all make breads with superior flavor and texture that are worth paying a premium for. I wanted to love this place because of the team running it, but it feels more reliant on marketing and hype than on true quality.
Sood E — Google review
Coffee great and their baked foods are fresh and delicious. Ordered Saffron Pistachio croissant, totally loved it

La Saison Bakery in Cambridge offers delicious baked goods and charming atmosphere. During our recent visit, we quickly fell in love with the bakery, and it's easy to understand why our friends recommended it. We can't wait to come back! The bakery features a varied menu that includes drinks, pastries, breads, breakfast and brunch options, sandwiches, pizzas, cakes, and retail items like jams. During our visit, we ordered the Arugula & Burrata Pizza and the Hot Soppressata Pizza, opting for two slices of each. Both flavours were delicious in flavour and quality. Their Sicilian-style pizza slices were selling out fast during our midday Sunday visit. All of their baked goods looked and smelled delicious and offer limited sourdough flavours depending on the days of the week. Do note, they feature minimal outdoor seating and has a small storefront which does not have indoor seating.

Bakery
Colette Bakery is a French-style bakery with locations in Medford, Massachusetts and Boston's South End neighborhood. The bakery offers a variety of traditional French pastries, including croissants, macarons, cakes, tarts, and quiche. It's a great spot to grab a quick breakfast in Boston and experience authentic French flavors. Customers can enjoy housemade breads and pastries while feeling like they've been transported to France.
I've been wanting to try Colette for a while! We went on a weekday so we were able to get a seat. The croissants were amazing! We got the pain au chocolat and the ham and cheese croissant heated up, and they were exquisite. The drinks were also tasty and reasonably priced. We tried a couple of other pastries but the highlight was the croissants. I'd definitely come back for the croissants!
Gloria H — Google review
Luv luv luv!!! Fantastic neighborhood café!!!! The hazelnut chocolate entremets were absolutely divine... I can’t stop thinking about them. The tarte citron was perfect, with a balanced blend of sweetness and tanginess, and the crisp pastry was spot on. The café au lait was delicious, rich, and creamy. The coffee éclairs were decent but could use a stronger coffee flavor. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend and will definitely return! :))) Returned to try the pecan tart and croissants this week. The pecan tart had a nut butter filling that was so savory and delicious, croissants perfectly buttery and crisp. What can I say... Collette bakery never disappoints~!
Tammy — Google review
You can’t go wrong with Collette Bakery. Nothing like being able to pick up some freshly baked bread from a small local business. The Viennois is my absolute favorite. The service is always incredible as well, you are always welcomed with love and a smile. Highly recommend this delicious bakery if you are in the area. Don’t let the long lines scare you away.
Isa C — Google review
Quaint neighborhood bakery! They had a pretty long line when I got there, but it moved fast. They have a variety of treats from loaves of bread to croissants to tarts. I got this pecan chocolate bread which tasted like it had Nutella inside! I’m not the biggest fan of that type of bread (versus the croissant bread), but it was still quite flaky and fun. It could have been a smidge warmer, though.
Wren L — Google review
We’ve been coming to this bakery for over two years now, and it has never disappointed! Their pastries and cakes are absolutely incredible — everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The croissants are next-level: perfectly flaky, buttery, and truly some of the best we’ve ever had. The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has such a warm, cozy vibe that it’s a joy to visit every time. The only downside? They’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays — and somehow those are exactly the days when we crave their treats the most
Marusya B — Google review
Lovely little bakery! Solid pain au chocolats, good airy layers in the bite, soft and yummy, but not a crispy crackly outer layer (maybe they were when they first came out of oven?). Kouign amann has good flavour but also was more dense in texture than I’d hoped. Chouquettes (pictured) are out of this world! Perfectly sweet with a hint of saltiness, egg-iness. Bought more to go after eating in store. Staff at the bakery are friendly and cheery. They do serve drinks, coffee and more, but my impression is that it’s more about the pastries and baked goods and less about the drinks here. Definitely would return! Will be dreaming about the chouquettes.
Meagan — Google review
I walked in expecting a bakery and I left believing I’d discovered a secret French outpost where butter lives unhindered and carbs wear tiny berets. The croissant cracked under my first bite like it was confessing its flakiness. The line was moving briskly and the aroma could have its own Instagram account. The only problem: I wanted to order everything in sight, but my stomach has limits. Tips: - Get there early: the best stuff seems to vanish fast. - The tarts were balanced with a blend of sweetness and tanginess. - It’s not bargain-basement, but you’re paying for butter-rich deliciousness, French style. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys pastries, butter, flaky textures, or simply wants to feel like they took a mini trip to Paris without a passport.
Ben G — Google review
The pastries are delicious, and the service is very friendly. The pain au chocolat is especially great. Highly, highly recommend. Magnifique, merci !

Bakery
Third Cliff Bakery, located in Jamaica Plain, is a popular spot known for its exceptional coffee and delectable baked goods. The coconut cold brew is highly recommended, and the assortment of treats behind the counter includes kimchi- and cheddar-filled croissants, savory focaccia, sweet brown butter Rice Krispie treats, grapefruit olive oil cake, and more. With its first brick-and-mortar location after years of selling at farmers markets, this bakery has gained a loyal following.
Favorite neighborhood bakery! Love that they have vegan options (and also don’t charge extra for almond, oat, soy milk). My favorite is the orange cardamom morning bun (vegan). Second favorite is the blueberry muffin (vegan). Reasonable prices.. and absolutely delicious!
Toyoko O — Google review
I’m not vegan, but I still thought the pastries were excellent. Highly recommend the Orange Cardamom bun — they don’t skimp on the cardamom. The street corn croissant was also quite good. I thought the kimchi cheddar croissant was only okay (didn’t get much kimchi flavor), but it was still an interesting combination worth trying. Super inventive pastries; definitely come by if you’re vegan!
Irene Z — Google review
So yummy! Lots of vegan options - I got the street corn croissant and the (non-vegan) brown butter chocolate chip cookie. If you like your CCCs soft and sweet, you’ll like this one, not so much chewy and crispy. I went around noon on a Saturday and there was only one person ahead of me in line, nothing was sold out, and it was easy to find a place to sit.
Maeve W — Google review
We got the vegan Orange cardamom morning bun, cherry chocolate scone, and focaccia bread with basil. All three were incredible. Perfect texture for each and they all had great flavor. Only disappointed that I didn’t get more. Will definitely be going back!
Matt H — Google review
i am a certified Viennoiseries hater so don’t ask me why I got the pain au chocolat here but it was amazing!! super fresh and delicious. also caught some glances of their baked goods in the back and really loved the energy there, can’t wait to go back 😌
Parna S — Google review
I've been on a bakery rampage lately, and Third Cliff Bakery was next on my list. I always go at opening, and this was the first time a bakery had a line before doors even opened, which surprised me. Doors opened right at 8 AM, and the overall wait wasn't too bad (~10 minutes). There is timed street parking out front, and the inside has a few tables with high ceilings and a nice mural. I ordered a few items to share: - Kimchi & Cheddar Croissant: I was most excited about this because it was a unique flavor, but the inside didn't actually have that much kimchi. It wasn't bad, though--just didn't wow me as much as I wanted it to. - Buttermilk Family Croissant: This croissant was also just okay. Very flaky. - Pain au Chocolat: I liked this one. Can never go wrong with chocolate. - Orange Cardamon Morning Bun: This one was good, but the person I shared it with felt it was too cinnamon-y. - Pumpkin & Candied Ginger Cake with Maple Icing: I liked this. I would have preferred if the icing was less sweet, but the cake was very moist. Overall, I'm happy to have tried Third Cliff Bakery, but it wasn't the best of the bakeries that I've checked out recently (maybe I'll try a drink next time). I do think the prices are a little bit on the lower end relative to the pastry sizes, though, which is nice.
_ — Google review
I don't usually write reviews, but I have just been blown away every time I've gone to Third Cliff Bakery over the course of this summer. I ordered something different every time I went and there has not been one item I did not enjoy, even when I was skeptical about it. Today I had the street corn pastry and it was phenomenal. The people working there are always super friendly as well. Sometimes there is a long line, but the wait is totally worth it.
Melissa R — Google review
Great coffee and even better baked goods. The only downside is that the line takes so long to move. Everyone gets some local chitchat with the wonderful folks who work there which extends the wait time. You will almost always see a line out the door because of it. It’s hard to say that this is a downside but someone expediting the queue will help with the wait.

Mike's Pastry is an iconic Italian bakery that has been serving delectable pastries like cannoli and lobster tails since 1946. Located in the North End, it is renowned for its crispy, thick cannoli with a variety of filling options, from traditional Italian flavors to novelty ones like Oreo and peanut butter. Despite the long lines, it remains a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The bakery's signature blue boxes are often seen as a source of pride among visitors.
TLDR: Cannolis are the best I’ve had. Cakes are rich, staff moves fast, and this deserves its reputation. They need to bring this to the West Coast. Review Visiting from Los Angeles, this was one of the best dessert stops of our trip. The pistachio cannoli and chocolate chip cannoli were outstanding, easily the highlight of all the desserts we tried. The rum cake and chocolate cake were also excellent and very rich. This North End shop is cash only, so come prepared. The line was about 20 minutes, but the staff kept it moving. Multiple lines make it easier if you know your order ahead of time. Regulars clearly do, but even as a first-time visitor, the staff was helpful and made good suggestions. We bought two giant cannolis, a third for a friend, and two cake slices. It was too much to finish, but everything was worth it. The cannolis are the star, but the cakes proved just as reliable. If I return to Boston, this will be a guaranteed stop. Pro tips • Bring cash for the main North End location. • Decide on your order before reaching the counter. • Cannolis first, but cakes are also worth it.
GregxPerez — Google review
Awesome little pastry shop down in Boston. I can highly recommend the cannolis as they were delicious. Some things to note however, it was incredibly busy when we went and we spent somewhere around 45 minutes waiting in line. Once you get inside the line branches and there are several cashiers so inside is sort of just a crowd of people. Another important note, Mike's Pastry is CASH ONLY, but this does make the process all lot quicker. Overall though, despite the line the quality of product you are getting is absolutely top notch and if you're looking for some delicious dessert in Boston you should definitely check this place out.
Dom — Google review
Pretty famous for their Cannolis and it didn’t disappoint with respect to that. We tried the most basic one - Ricotta cannoli - and it was probably the second best I’ve had (best so far is Alati in Montreal) till date. Quite fresh and tasty. The crust was quite thin, which is good. Having said that, the Boston Cream Pie was a bit let down. While it was great on the surface, the middle area was frozen and didn’t leave a good taste. Ambiance in the store is something amazing. Very crowded but was being managed in an orderly manner. The cashier in your queue will only entertain one customer at a time, so there is no confusion as to who is waiting to pick up or yet to order. It’s all cash - so make sure you have the cash enough for your order. Definitely to be tried but perhaps don’t buy in to the hype.
Jay M — Google review
Mike's Pastry has it all. Most famous for the cannolis, there are turnovers, pretzels, donuts, and cakes. IMPORTANT: Mike's is cash only. I ordered the Apple Turnover, Chocolate Chip Cannoli, and Peanut Butter Cup. The turnover is fantastic, with a perfect balance of apple and pastry, and was moist and not dry. I wasn't a fan of the cannoli, but to be fair, I don't like cannolis and was hoping this would change my mind. The peanut butter cup was excellent, and well worth it, assuming you have a drink to go with it. It's rich. When you're ready to order, just talk to one of the several ladies behind the counter. There's not an official line, just when someone is free, talk to them. This is a bustling pastry shop, and I would order here again.
Dalton A — Google review
Wow! Mike's Pastry is famous for a reason, and it absolutely lives up to the hype—a well-deserved five stars! My wife and I stopped by and were completely captivated by the selection and the incredible taste of everything we tried. We went with the Chocolate Chip Cannoli, the seasonal Pumpkin Cannoli, and a classic Boston Cream Donut. The cannolis were perfection: the shells were flaky, the filling was rich and creamy, and the flavors were spot-on. The Boston Cream Donut was a beautiful, custard-filled pillow of goodness. Honestly, my wife and I devoured them so quickly we almost didn't get to appreciate how truly good they were! Despite the constant crowd—and I can totally see why this place is always busy—the ladies helping behind the counter were incredibly friendly and efficient. They handled the organized chaos with grace and a smile. If you are in Boston, particularly the North End, you must stop at Mike's. Get ready to indulge, because every bite is heavenly!
Phillip W — Google review
It is a bakery with every Italian American dessert you can think of! It is cash only and only to go. There is no seating available and your to go orders come in a box. My mission was to try the cannoli and since it was fall they had a pumpkin flavored one and it was delish! They only sell it in their regular size and there is a minimum to order their minis. A good stop to get that sugar craving gone!
Mel Z — Google review
Here’s a rare sighting: no line at Mike’s Pastry on a Monday mid-morning. I practically floated through the door, but come the weekend that is not the case. The line is out the door, down the sidewalk and around the corner with tourists, locals, and cannoli devotees alike. I went with the classic cannoli, no chocolate chips, no frills, just pure ricotta glory. The shell was crisp and golden, the filling smooth, lightly sweet, and piled in generously. It’s the kind of treat that makes you pause mid-bite and silently vow to come back for another. Mike’s delivers a dessert that’s worth every minute but I don’t think I would ever stand on a huge line just to have one. You have to do it while in Boston though! Also I did love the presentation in the pretty blue box!
Holly — Google review
Mike’s Pastry is a must when in Boston !!!!! Never disappoints! Their pastries are absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and downright delicious. Whether it’s the classic cannoli or any of their other treats, especially the wedding cookies OMGGGGGGG Everything is made with the perfect balance of sweetness and quality. A must-visit every time!

Modern Pastry Shop is a family-run Italian bakery in Boston's North End, known for its delectable pastries, cakes, pies, and cookies. While it may not have the same level of fame as some neighboring bakeries, it has been in business for almost 100 years. The shop offers an array of treats including butter cookies, raspberry bowtie cookies, rainbow Venetian cookies, cheesecake, and lobster tail pastries.
This place was recommended by a friend and it was amazing! There are so many treats to chose from! A group of us split a Boston cream, strawberry shortcake, hostess cupcake and peanut butter cupcake. They were all amazing! The lines can be long, but moves fast and worth the wait.

We had heard about this place and wanted to come there to check it out. There are two parts of the bakery, the take out portion and then a small seating area for dining in. We decided to dine in and had americanos and cannolis. They do have a gluten free cannoli which was delicious! The coffee and cannolis were excellent, and we were happy to have the experience at Modern Pastry! It is a cash only place, as an added piece of info.
Jeff — Google review
We came with one mission and that was for the cannolis. Modern Pastry Shop delivered, crisply, sweetly, and with just the right amount of powdered sugar chaos. This bakery feels like an Italian tradition. I loved it the moment I stepped in! The display window boasts trophies, vintage photos, and branded merch, hinting at a legacy of excellence. But it’s the dessert case that truly steals the show, rows of chocolate-dipped cannoli, glossy cupcakes, and pastries so artfully arranged they practically beg for a photo op. We grabbed a pair of cannolis and settled into their seated section with espressos in hand. It’s a cozy nook tucked away from the bustle, perfect for savoring each bite. The cannoli shell was crisp and golden, the filling rich and velvety, and the chocolate-dipped ends added a decadent finish. The almonds were a nice touch as well. Beyond the sweets, the shop doubles as a gourmet market, with shelves of pasta, olive oil, and imported snacks. Service was quick and friendly, even with a steady stream of customers. Modern Pastry was a great play’s to grab a classic cannoli, a strong espresso, and a seat to enjoy them both.
Holly — Google review
It's no wonder there is a long line. The cannoli here is made fresh to order and filled with cream and powdered sugar. The crunch gives it a lovely texture. I would even say it's better than the ones I've tried in Italy! I ordered the creme brulee and the Napoleon as well, but none compared to the cannoli. It's truly better than the rest. The lobster tail is another popular choice. They also have coffee and other drink options. The line moved fast and the staff was great at efficiency. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. There are even tables to sit, although I did not. I ate mine near the swings. It's cash only.

Later in the afternoon, we headed to Modern Pastry Shop, a cherished institution nestled on Hanover Street in Boston’s historic North End. From the moment we entered, the space felt warm and inviting, with sunlight spilling across gleaming display cases and the subtle, comforting aroma of freshly prepared ricotta and baked delights filling the air. Each pastry appeared meticulously arranged, reflecting the bakery’s reputation for time-honored excellence. We indulged in two cannolis, both filled with traditional ricotta—one topped with chopped almonds, the other with pistachios. Each bite was an absolute delight. The shells were crisp yet delicate, perfectly complementing the luxuriously creamy filling. The pistachio added a gentle nutty depth, while the almond brought a subtle crunch, creating a harmonious interplay of texture and flavor. It was an experience that felt both comforting and refined, the kind of simple pleasure elevated through care and craftsmanship. Every element of the visit, from the welcoming environment to the impeccably executed pastries, made a lasting impression. Modern Pastry Shop is a place I would return to without hesitation, and those cannolis, in particular, are a treat I would eagerly enjoy again.

Modern Pastry is Boston's best for cannoli and freshly baked Italian pastries. The connoli shells are baked in advance (daily) but they aren't filled until the moment you order them amazing, and they are ridiculously delicious! Modern has been here for more than 50 years. Mike's Pastry, located on the opposite side you may be better known for tourists, but Modern is the place where the locals go! 100%recommend!

Just an absolutely fantastic dessert shop! So many delicious options for you to choose from! We got some take away cake and tart to take back to eat at the hotel because we were too full from dinner. My most favourite was a limoncello cake, it's so soft and tasty 🤤

Did the taste test between Mike’s and Modern and have to go with Modern on the cannolis! Firm shell. Perfect cannoli filling. Having gone to Italy before … this was truly an Italian experience. Waited in line 3 days in a row … totally worth it!

Bova's Bakery, located in the heart of Boston's Little Italy, has been a beloved family-owned establishment since 1926. This 24-hour bakery offers an array of delectable Italian specialties including cannoli, cookies, pastries, and pies. In addition to sweet treats, Bova's also serves savory options such as calzones, sub sandwiches, and Sicilian-style pizza.
Really good. We had planned to go to Modern or Mike’s after dinner but the lines were crazy long. Earlier in the day, our doorman at The Dagny Hotel told us about Bova’s. We walked a couple of blocks to get there and their line was much shorter. From the time we joined the line, to walking out with our purchase was about 15 minutes at around 8pm on a Saturday night. We grabbed a Cannoli and a package of Lemon cake bites of some sort. Both were great. For such a small shop, Bova’s had a lot of variety or both baked sweet goods and savory food items. If you’ve been to Boston before, next time, give Bova’s a try. It’s only about a 5 minutes walk from Hanover St.

It’s an experience to say the least! Be ready to order when it’s your turn or they’ll skip right over you. Even if you just take a little too long like my husband did. The line was long but very efficient and moved quickly. The line was almost out the door when we entered and we were in and out within 10 or so minutes. The pecan pie bar is the best I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t even like cannolis but I like theirs!
Desiree B — Google review
Don’t let the line discourage you, it moves quickly! They have an array of pastries like cookies, cakes, cannoli, and so much more. They even have savory options like ham & cheese croissants, calzones, pizza slices and arancini (rice balls). The amount of treats they have is outstanding! You want to leave with a bit of everything! Staff is nice and they answered all of my questions. I got the ham and cheese croissant, steak and cheese arancini and the chocolate chip rugelach. Listen, the ham and cheese croissant didn’t even make it up the street! I literally turned back around and ordered more treats. The croissant is buttery and flaky. I had the rugelach for dessert and that was so good. The steak & cheese arancini is so tasty and filling. I can’t wait to try more pastries off the menu. This spot is conveniently located right in the heart of Little Italy. And did I forget to mention that it is 24/7? Definitely check them out!

Oh my goodness. 🤤🤤🤤 the crème brûlée cannoli was delicious. I ate a cannoli from another place the day before and thought I wouldn’t eat another one bc it wasn’t that great. However, this cannoli has changed my mind. Turns out you just need to have one from the right place. Which is this place. I also orders the Oreo cannoli and Oreo cheesecake. All three things were phenomenal.
Hannah T — Google review
Certainly better than the other bakeries in the area. Small, family run, and crazy efficient. Can be tough to know what you want as people stand way too close to the cases. The place is on par with the best in the remaining Italian-American enclaves in the US. Great pastries, good arancini, and solid, traditional cannoli. Individual canolo filled on the spot. When the line gets long they try to stay ahead of it, but probably never filled more than a few minutes before you get your. The Florentine cannolo is an absolute treat and worth the wait. The non-pastries are considered "drunk food" by the locals, but are still good.
Angelo S — Google review
Bova’s is not a spot to stop into for one thing, because it’s next to impossible. The smell from all the pastries and baked goods hits you before you even step in. We got 3 cannolis and a whale tail.. oh my. They were absolutely delicious & not too overly sweet. It’s open 24/7, so you don’t have to find a perfect time to come in. This spot is exactly what a bakery should be. Although we only had a few pastries, they had an amazing assortment of bread and other food too.
Kyle D — Google review
You’re in Boston, you’re craving old school Italian food, head to the North End! Any of the local spots are amazing and will satisfy your tastes. BUT afterwards, don’t get dessert in the restaurant. Instead head straight up the block to Bovas Bakery. Wait on the long line that usually can be seen coming out of the front door, it’s worth it! Every pastry and cake is fresh, soft and deliciously sweet! You can taste the quality with each bite! And it’s not expensive at all. We wanted to sample a few items so we got the whoopie pie, the black and white cookie and the Boston crème donut. All were out of this world and just $18 for everything! We walked down the block, sat on a bench and devoured everything! The whoopie pie was by far the best thing we had that day, get one, you’ll thank me!
Lawrence D — Google review
We found this place by chance. Seeing it's good reviews, we gave it a shot. The cannoli's were delicious! All the ones I had previously tried were extremely sweet. We also tried the tiramasu, which admittedly took me a few bites to appreciate. We then tried Mike's, because our trolley guides recommended them but we assume they must get paid for that because Bova's is far superior!

Founded by Harvard graduate Joanne Chang, the bakery has become a staple in Cambridge and Boston. While not entirely gluten-free, they offer homemade gluten-free bread for sandwiches and breakfast options. The menu includes signature items like Sticky Buns, Mile High pies, super-moist banana bread, sandwiches, seasonal poptarts, cookies, pies, cakes and more.
Update (Early July 2025): Cake back a week later and absolutely loved the Avacado Toast. Coffee was as smooth as always. Coffee Cake was okay. Biscuit with Jam and the Vanilla Donut was awesome! Late June 2025: Came here because we were gifted an excellent cake from the few weeks ago. One of the best (bacon) Quichie I have had ever. ($8) Coconut Cream Pie ($6.50) was good as well. Very smooth but bit sweet Iced Latte. (Added Hazelnut Syrup) The location was very busy on the Saturday Morning. I'll come back for sure!

Ordered a vegan hot chocolate and an almond macaroon (vegan & gluten free). The macaroon was delicious!! Perfect size and just enough sweetness. The vegan hot chocolate wasn't as sweet but I thoroughly enjoyed it as I walked around Public Garden in the light rain. Really nice workers and great atmosphere! 💞

Had the chicken artichoke pizza and it pleasantly surprised me! The crust was fluffy and the toppings had a lot of flavor. It was a good size too considering we are in back bay. The outdoor seating was great in the nice weather too. Unlike other places there are also a good number of servers.

I have been to flour bakery on multiple occasions and it never disappoints. I tried their coffee, tuna melt sandwich, applewood smoked bacon sandwich and added chicken to it, sticky bun and lemon meringue pie and would recommend them all. My favorite sandwich is the applewood smoked bacon.

I wanted to have breakfast and chose this place. Atmosphere and location amazing, you can seat outside and eat. I ordered cappuccino big size, they did delicious coffee and cup was full, I’m grateful. Also I ordered avocado toast and added salmon. Sandwich was good and big. Salmon I didn’t really liked it because it was cold and salty. I didn’t know that and didn’t ask. I thought it will be on sandwich or slices. Price is 9 dollars for additional salmon. Total 35. Expensive, but when you want to it.

1 star for Flúor Bakery + Café. Terrible experience. I ordered an egg sandwich and a meat one — both were awful, I had to throw them out completely. I get that taste is subjective, but this was unacceptable: cold, flavorless, and not fresh at all. Service was poor, staff seemed uninterested and unmotivated. On top of that, the kitchen area and product display counter were dirty. They really need to fix or invest in those details. I don’t recommend this place at all.

Nestled in the heart of Harvard Square, L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates is a delightful artisanal chocolatier and café that has been enchanting visitors since 1987. Known for its luxurious hot chocolate and whimsical chocolate mice, this charming spot also offers an array of delectable pastries and rich cookies filled with dark chocolate, walnuts, and vanilla bean—perfect for indulging or gifting!
Oh CHOCOLATE !!! For those whom love chocolate, this place was HEAVENLY !!! :) Our friends took my wife and me to L.A. Burdick's Handmade chocolates. It was originally to have a cup of hot chocolate but we definitely did not stop at that ! :). Firstly, their hot chocolate was a nice deep rich chocolate flavor (not too sweet, not too bitter --- seriously it was just right and perfect because I was freezing in Boston !!! :). After drinking a cup, we did a bit of shopping for gifts and they have seriously cute chocolate gifts there. I think I was most impressed by the man behind the cash register. He definitely had a passion to talk about the chocolates, how they select their cocoa beans and everything and make the chocolates themselves. He told me a bit about the history of their chocolate store too. But, it was obvious, he had that chocolate passion (thanks for sharing I can't wait to go back someday and get more chocolate from your shop) Would I go back there again ? ABSOLUTELY !!! I loved it so much, I tagged it in my Google Maps GPS !!! (so I can remember how to get there :)

L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates is a cozy, elegant chocolate shop and café in Boston’s Back Bay that feels like stepping into a European chocolate salon. Known for its artisanal approach, L.A. Burdick is all about quality, detail, and unforgettable flavor. Here’s why it stands out: Their signature chocolate mice and penguins are as adorable as they are delicious. The hot chocolate is legendary—rich, velvety, and made from real melted chocolate (choose from dark, milk, or white). They serve French-style pastries and elegant desserts that pair perfectly with their drinks. The atmosphere is warm, quiet, and beautifully decorated—perfect for a cozy afternoon or a thoughtful gift stop.

The atmosphere of this pastry shop is warm and inviting, with a cozy vibe that makes it a perfect spot to relax. The pastries are beautifully crafted and delicious, and I highly recommend trying the different varieties of hot chocolate—they are rich, indulgent, and unforgettable. While it is definitely on the pricier side, the quality and experience make it worth a visit if you’re in Boston.

Lovely hot chocolate and chocolates here. This is the best in Boston, loved by locals and visitors equally and has a variety of other bakery stuff. Do check out the cute chocolate mice, penguins and turkeys in addition to other pieces. I tried the hot dark chocolate and ginger cake, and both were outstanding. A must do when in Boston!

I've been here a few times and really love the warm atmosphere. Their hot chocolate is so creamy and delicious, but not too sweet (especially the dark hot chocolate). Lovely for a date or to bring the family. Just show up a little early, because it is usually packed!
Sarah M — Google review
This place is straight out of Harry Potter and has the best hot chocolate I've ever had. The atmosphere is very welcoming and clean, the staff is friendly and accommodating. I haven't tried their other pastries, desserts or chocolate, but I bet they are incredible and decadent. Definitely worth the stop!
Nick A — Google review
This is my favorite place to get hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is the best I’ve found in Boston, the atmosphere is cozy & warm feeling,& the chocolate is delicious. *Pricing is a bit steep with a small hot chocolate currently costing $7.50 & a large costing $9. But it’s certainly worth it as a treat.
Bethany T — Google review
La Burdick in Cambridge has been my go-to spot for years, and it’s become a tradition to bring friends and family here whenever they visit. From the moment you walk in, the warm smell of chocolate greets you like an old friend. Their signature hot chocolate is an experience in itself—rich, velvety, and decadent enough to make you forget every mediocre cup you’ve ever had. The pastries? Absolute perfection. I’ve probably sampled every tart and macaron over the years, and they never disappoint. Each one feels like a little edible masterpiece. The only downside? On busy days, finding a table can feel like trying to win the lottery. But honestly, standing with a cup of their hot chocolate in hand isn’t the worst fate in the world. La Burdick is the kind of place you keep coming back to because it always delivers. Whether it’s a cozy winter escape or just an excuse to indulge, it’s become a staple in my life—and I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon. Highly recommend!

Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Third St is a charming spot in Cambridge that has garnered attention from various media outlets and even made it to BuzzFeed's list of 25 bakeries to visit worldwide. Founded by self-taught chef Tzurit Or, this cozy bakery started as a booth at local farmers' markets before growing into a beloved establishment just outside of Boston. The cafe offers a delightful array of breakfast items, soups, sandwiches, and delectable baked goods.
WORTH the hype! While researching nice places to go eat in Boston prior to coming here, pretty much everyone mentioned Tatte and I definitely understand why. We ended up having breakfast here every day of our trip because of the various options they offer and tried some sandwiches for dinner once that were very good as well. The first thing you see when coming in is their pastries assortment, which is mouth-watering. We couldn’t try everything, but what we tried was GREAT (something similar to a cinnamon roll and a crumbles cheesecake). Coffee was great. Service was great. Honestly wish I had more time to try everything on the menu, it’s clear that they put effort on their dishes being tasty with high-quality ingredients and great combinations.

Left one star pending a 2nd visit. My first fantastic!!!! The almond croissant t were on point, and I know, I'm expert. The place was very euro I serious design with a bit of american farmhouse feel to it. Love it! Will be back!

The new iced tea coolers aren’t great, unless you're specifically looking for overly sweet, pre-made tea that leaves you feeling uneasy in the chest. Probably my worst experience at Tatte, even worse than the time I was served oat milk instead of whole milk, which was an honest mistake on both sides. Usually, Tatte is good, but this one really missed the mark. — Date: July 5th Tatte, why the hate? 🥲 I genuinely love the taste, but let’s be real, it’s spinach corn soup with poached eggs, not shakshuka.

Sofra Bakery & Cafe is a cozy bakery known for its Middle Eastern sweets and savory bites, offering a small patio for outdoor seating. It's a popular spot in Boston, drawing in locals and visitors alike with its delectable pastries like pistachio rosewater croissants and bittersweet chocolate tahini tarts. The establishment also serves up savory specialties such as shawarma sandwiches and baked feta adorned with rhubarb.
This place was recommended and after receiving a gift card I went with my mother to check this place out. While pricey, if you’re willing to cough up some cash it is well worth the money for the quality you will get from this food. We had ordered the Turkish style breakfast which had a soft boiled egg wrapped in an ingredient I do not know the name of but it added crunch and mild sweetness to it. There were cucumbers, olives, tomato that was mashed and sweet yogurt which was topped with seasonal spoon sweets. You can refer to the image but this was one of my favorite things with the blend of refreshing vegetables that were light and paired with sweet creamy substances. It was filling yet not overbearing. Geno’s egg sandwich was worth the getting my hands messy as the egg was cooked just enough that the yolk broke upon first bite adding extra flavor that brought out the halloumi cheese and tomato concasse. The granola bowl was another favorite being served in Egyptian carrot jam and labne that made it stand out compared to other granola bowls. We had purchased the Turkish coffee which we felt was decent but not as good as Andala coffee houses especially when comparing price and value. The desserts were the date almond ma’amoul and chocolate tahini tart. The tart was smooth, rich and not overly sweet compared to the breakfast Items which was a nice change. Lastly, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The music was middle eastern and not so loud that you could not have a conversation.

Wow the flavors here are so fresh and unique!! When we entered, I was skeptical, but the food was so good and like nothing I've tasted - admittedly I don't eat at meze places super often. The chicken wings (date molasses bbq and lemon herb on top) were SO good, the flatbread and shawarma tasted different from any other place bcus of the filling. The shakshuka came with pesto which was jnteresting. Highly recommended. There's not a lot of seating and it's a free for all so don't come with a group expecting to sit.

Delicious bakery with the croissants a stand out. Long line, we waited like 20 minutes, but worth it for the goodies. The coffee shop is separate, so if you go with someone, you can split up and order drinks while one person waits in line. Small area inside, no seating

As recommended by a friend, we made the trip to Clear Flour Bread in Brookline on a Sunday morning. Even before we parked, we spotted the line of people waiting outside and knew right away that our 50-minute drive would be worth it. The pastries did not disappoint—everything we tried was absolutely delicious. While there’s no indoor seating, you can enjoy your fresh-baked treats on a bench right outside, which adds to the charm. It was also surprising to learn that most of the customers were locals who stop by almost every week—always a good sign! The only downside is that they don’t serve coffee at the same counter, so we had to grab ours from their Coffee Bar next door. Still, I’ll definitely be coming back.

Later during my visit to Boston, I made my way to Clear Flour Bread, a charming bakery tucked along Thorndike Street in Brookline. I had been searching for a small, welcoming spot to pick up a few pastries for a casual gathering, and from the moment I stepped inside, it was clear this was more than just a bakery—it was a carefully curated experience. The aroma of freshly baked bread, warm pastries, and subtly sweet cakes immediately enveloped me, offering a sense of comfort and anticipation. The interior exuded classic Boston bakery charm, simple yet elegant, with displays that made every item feel inviting and carefully considered. I picked up a cinnamon crumb cake, a molasses spice cookie, and a chocolate bundt cake made with 25% rye flour and topped with chocolate ganache. Each item reflected a balance of texture, flavor, and craft. The crumb cake was perfectly tender with just the right hint of cinnamon spice, the molasses cookie had a deep, rich warmth that lingered, and the chocolate bundt cake was indulgent without being heavy, with a ganache that elevated the experience further. Benji, who served me, was incredibly kind and welcoming. He even offered a small, fresh piece of bread on the house, a gesture that felt genuinely thoughtful and added a personal touch to the visit. It was the kind of hospitality that makes a place memorable beyond its baked goods. As I noticed a line forming outside the bakery, I understood immediately why: Clear Flour Bread delivers pastries and breads that are not only delicious but carefully considered, with each bite reflecting skill and care. The combination of thoughtful craftsmanship, inviting atmosphere, and genuinely warm service makes this a spot I would return to without hesitation.

Stepped in on a gloomy fall Sunday, looking for a hot cup of coffee and I was not disappointed. We ordered a hot honey vanilla latte and a mocha latte, both of which were exquisite. What struck me the most was the high quality milk that was being used which was the organic whole milk in glass jars. This really mattered because the coffee was rich and it absolutely delectable. They also offer a range of condiments which can be purchased. Overall, a highly recommended cafe.

Really good fresh baked bagels. Service was fast and accurate. The place is very nice and cozy, but seated is limited because it’s a small place and it gets really pack so keep that in mind. This is a very nice shop, great food. But the shop is pretty small with limited seats so it doesn’t fit to big group. I came on Sunday around 11.30 am which is probably the busiest time, so the line was long taking me about 20’ to order and 5’ to get food.

Got the Breakfast BLT. Tomato was not ripe and had a sour taste. Then the bacon are just bacon pieces in the cream cheese. The bacon in the cream cheese tasted old and was extremely chewy, got a piece that I could not even break. Then I got food poisoning from it. Ruined the rest of my trip in Boston. There are other places that serve better breakfast sandwiches.

The treats and sweets looked beautiful, though I didn’t try them this time—maybe next visit. The vibe was amazing, busy, and lively. We were there at noon on a weekday and loved it!

Gosh, I really really wanted to give them five stars. Instead, here is a very thorough review of why this is not so. After three tries to produce a hot Cortado, they were all somehow a little bit colder than the first. The pastries are great though! I came in here last year and really enjoyed the gorgeous pastry offerings. and whimsical holiday pastries and cookies. We lived in the neighborhood for many years, so each year we revisit. Then I recently visited in October 2025. It was just a few blocks from our house (we were on a home swap, so we had an extended stay, and I was here quite a bit). Each day I would walk down the hill for my morning coffee and pastry here. Each time I would order a cortado. The first time it was Lukewarm, but by no means warm. So the second time I asked for a “extra hot” and it was even less hot than the first time. And this continued to the point where it was so lukewarm at some point that if it was bathwater I would say it was a little bit chilly. I’m not exaggerating. And every time I said ‘extra hot’ they seem to compensate by not actually producing an extra hot drink, but instead putting in less cream/milk. So at some point, I was just looking at a macchiato. It was lukewarm espresso with just a bit of foam on top. No longer even a Cortado. And still, lukewarm. Why did I keep coming back? Part of me was hopeful that one day they would fix it, and also, the pastries are exquisite! The croissants are some of the best in town. And one day I had a croissant with some cheese and some meat in it and it was sublime! So I love the pastries, and I really want this to be my café when I am in town. But I just need my coffee to be warm. Not scalding, not hot. But at least warm.

The cafe sits on Charles St. in a beautiful part of the city. It’s very busy and super small inside. If there’s no available table (you seat yourself), they put your meal in a box… no matter what you order. I ordered a dish that had scrambled eggs, goat cheese, tomatoes, toast. It was absolutely delicious but wasn’t really a to-go type meal. Luckily I found a table on the patio to enjoy my meal. It was right next to a ton of trash cans and the birds were everywhere. It didn’t smell but it was unsightly. I would definitely eat here again, but I might try one of their other several locations to see if the atmosphere is different. It’s hectic and you kind of feel in the way with this one. The coffee is great and the staff was nice.

Tatte Bakery is simply amazing. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the aroma of fresh-baked goods that look as good as they taste. Their croissants are perfectly flaky, buttery, and absolutely delicious, and the coffee is rich, aromatic, and consistently excellent. What makes it even better is its close proximity to the park — the perfect spot to grab something to go and enjoy a crisp fall day outdoors. Tatte truly delivers on both quality and charm.

Incredible! We had a dessert, donut, breakfast sandwich, and coffee. All of it was fantastically delicious. We were able to share a table with other out of towners and had great conversation. Friendly staff and quality food in a fun neighborhood. We can't wait to come back when we're in the area!

Tatte, simply delicious. Pictured: Pulled Turkey Sandwich (6/10) + Crème Pesto Mushroom Sashuka (100000/10) Location/Ambiance: Honestly if it’s the weekend try to avoid this specific location just because you’ll probably not going to find a seat/table anywhere. It’s a cute location, not modern in design like other Tatte locations. Super cute/cozy!

If you’re looking for great pastries and quiche like type of food, this is the place. Lines get very long and can take quite a long time to get your order. The breakfast dishes are quite good.

The B.A.L.T and the chicken pita were incredible, one of the best BLTs I’ve had in the city. Drinks, both iced and hot, were also fantastic. Service was okay, it was very busy but one of the staff roller their eyes when we asked for the apple turnover to be warm. We got the apple turnover and it wasn’t warm after asking twice. Even with that the apple turnover was very yummy! Overall had a good time and would come back!

Zinneken's Belgian Waffles in Harvard Square is a cozy cafe where you can customize your own authentic Belgian waffle with a variety of gourmet toppings. The waffles are made using hand-kneaded dough to achieve a chewy texture and are baked to order. You can choose from an array of toppings including Belgian chocolate, fresh berries, cookie butter caramel speculoos spread, Nutella, and homemade whipped cream.
The waffles here are delicious! Their texture is as it should be - crisp on top, with that lightly bready on the inside. I love that they cater to the minimalist and the glutton here in terms of the amount of toppings one could add on. The decor and ambience are charming, though the place is little and can only seat small groups.
Megha J — Google review
I had tea and a waffle here and the staff were super friendly and attentive. I asked for extra hot water for my tea and they were ok with it. The whole place, including the washroom, was very clean. The café is small with limited seating, so probably not the best spot for groups bigger than 4-5 people I came just to try the waffle. It was crispy but didn’t have much taste on its own (I got the Brussel waffle). The other waffle we got with toppings was way more delicious. So totally suggesting to add a sweet topping. They are also famous for their tiramisu latte.

Zimneken's Belgian waffles are undoubtedly one of the best and mouthwatering waffles across Cambridge. The flavors of chocolate, Nutella, peanut butter, maple syrup and vanilla ice cream are amplified when you have them with waffles. wonder how are they still maintaining the low prices considering the place remains crowded a majority of time. I'm definitely going to come back to make my taste buds feel heaven.
Hritik — Google review
I remember when this place started out as a small food truck in Harvard Square — back then you could get a generous waffle with everything included for $8. Now it has grown into a full restaurant, but unfortunately the quality-to-price ratio has gone downhill. The waffles are noticeably smaller, the prices much higher, and almost everything is treated as an add-on. Even whipped cream costs extra, which feels disappointing since a waffle never feels complete without it. The waffles themselves are decent, but the experience no longer matches the value it once had. Feels like customers are paying more for the brand than for the food.
Peenaz — Google review
The waffles are as good as they look. They’re dense and chewy with a crisp crunch. Cozy atmosphere and quick service. Great place to work or for a date.

Was craving for good coffee and a tasty breakfast, so decided to stop by Zinneken’s. The place doesn’t disappoint. Very tasty waffles (got myself the Berry Insanity and topped it off with maple syrup, and my son customized his version with chocolate on top), and real barista-grade coffee. Yum! The service was amazing and waffles were made fast. Didn’t have much time before my flight from BOS, so quick service was a must. Will definitely be coming back when I’m in town!

MY FAVORITE DESSERT PLACE IN BOSTON TRIP. Get the liege waffle with blackberries. Blackberries were sweet and juicy. I don’t know what magic they performed with the waffle batter but it is certainly not your diner waffle. It is ELEVATED SPECIAL YUMMY BELGIAN WAFFLE with hint of sweetness and yummy crispness. Right amt of crisp on the outside but sweet and fluffy inside. I am literally drooling and craving it again as I am writing this review. It was 9:25 pm on Sunday and the place was PACKED. So you might have to take it to-go just a heads up. They have some seating but there’s maybe like seating for 10 ppl and the place gets really packed with ppl early on because the vibes are so nice. follow @mia.eats.explores if you make it to end of this review LOL

Hi-Rise Bread Company is a cozy, family-owned bakery in Cambridge that offers a delightful array of homemade breads, pastries, and sandwiches. Founded by baker Rene Becker, this sun-lit counter-serve bakery boasts excellent pastries, lunch options, and a full coffee bar. The tarts are made with local fruits and many treats use extra-rich European butter.
A West Cambridge Cafe with an artisanal charm. Took a visit this morning to grab some breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by the indulgent smell of a freshly baked bread as they had a dedicated section for baking fresh bread. Alongside a curated selection of wine and whiskey, they also had a corner showcasing an array of house-made preserves and granola, which collectively contributed to its rustic yet refined local marketplace vibe. Since there were a lot of negative reviews regarding their food, we initially didn’t have high expectations for their food. Admittedly, being the first customer of the day, the twenty-minute wait for two simple breakfast sandwiches seemed a tad lengthy. The oat milk latte was also a bit too mild for my taste, yet the pastries and the sandwiches more than made up for it. Both the Hungry Pickle and Luke Rocks the Free World sandwiches boasted perfectly crispy buns that added a satisfying crunch to each bite. Even the simpler Brekkie Supreme sandwich, which didn't appear freshly made, was surprisingly good. From the pastries, we had the Orange Coconut and Maple Pecan Scones, and both were nice treats – moist, buttery, and exquisitely crafted to my preferred taste. My experience at Hi Rise certainly exceeded my initial expectations. If you’re looking for satisfying breakfast sandwiches and pastries, I recommend giving them a try. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait for the sandwiches, but rest assured, these are well worth the patience.

I used to frequent Hi Rise when it was on Mass Ave pre-pandemic. I loved the Thai iced tea and blueberry scone. 5+ years later, I finally made my way over to the Huron village location, and I'll definitely be back soon! The Thai iced tea was just as I remembered -- very aromatic and perfectly sweet. I'd come back just for this unique and delicious drink. Unfortunately they didn't have the blueberry scone (I wasn't expecting it, since it said it was sold out on the website). We tried the small chocolate fallen cake ($10) which I thought was a bit too sweet. We also got the ham, butter, and Swiss lunchie ($8), which is a very thin and long sandwich. It was delicious! The bread has a slight crisp on the outside, and is wonderfully chewy. The filling to bread ratio is pretty great. I'd get this again -- very satisfying. There are also a lot of fruit preserves and packaged cookies that look really good and would make good gifts. I'll be back!

I’ve been to this local café a few times and really liked it. The prices are a bit high, but I visited because of its location. Recently, I saw mice in the café—not just one, but three. It felt like their playground. I couldn’t enjoy my coffee and felt very uncomfortable. Even in Boston, where mice are common, this was the worst I’ve seen. The staff knows about the problem but isn’t doing anything. I don’t think I’ll visit again for a while. I hope they fix this soon.

Hi Rise - more like High Price. This is a sandwich/salad cafe that charges absurdly high prices and offers small portions. $6 to add chicken on a salad and THIS is what you add, two small diced up tenders? Guys - the world’s gotten expensive, and it’s okay to increase prices to some extent. But you can’t also shrink your product at the same time. That’s called greed.

Praliné French Patisserie is a charming bakery located below the Sonder Hotel, offering a delightful selection of French pastries and savory treats. The macarons are a standout, with flavors like rich mango and decadent chocolate. While the passion fruit with raspberries tart lacked balance, the tuna sandwich was excellent. The cafe has a cute atmosphere with small decorations and offers an array of French snacks, teas, and chocolates.
1000% recommend! Especially for those who love French pastries! A great place for breakfast or to stop by for a cup of delicious tea or coffee with a friend. The spinach quiche is definitely one of the best I've tried! A large selection of French pastries, croissants and there is not a single one that I didn't like. Delicious, incredibly delicious!

Very tasty almond croissant inside the heart of Cambridge. Praline is the perfect place to grab a coffee and a pastry and crank in a couple hours of work. Praline is a French bakery in Cambridge (I could hear their staff speaking French which is always a good sign!). Their pastries are all beautiful, but as always, I had to try their almond croissant. The croissant itself was light, moist yet still crispy on the bottom. The almond paste filling was very generous and evenly spread throughout. The paste tasted very natural with a strong nutty flavour. In my opinion, the almond paste lacked a bit of a “praliné” taste (it’s in their name after all!), and could have benefited from a bit of salt. Still overall a delicious croissant, and I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their pastries! p.s: Iced latte was also very nice, perfect combination with the almond croissant!

I went in for French pastry. The cortado was good. I decided on an Opera pastry and found it not up to par. The chocolate and cake part was good but the cream was hard and very sweet. Together it wasn't in sync with the taste buds. It felt stale. I would probably try their macarons next. But definitely will go back for the coffee.

My husband surprised me with a Passion Fruit Raspberry Tart from Praline for my birthday, and it was truly everything. The passion fruit and raspberry were perfectly balanced—bright, fresh, and luxurious—and the crust was absolute perfection, buttery and crisp in every bite! He also brought home the Paris-Brest, filled with the most heavenly hazelnut praline cream, and it was beyond amazing. And the croissant… I can’t even. It’s the best croissant in the United States, hands down, and even in Paris it would remain among the finest. Every bite felt like pure elegance croissant 🥐 🇫🇷
Chloe K — Google review
I was really excited to try this French bakery, the inside was clean, cute, and they had a great selection of pastries. I went in hoping for fresh breakfast options, but everything was premade. So instead, I ordered a croissant, which they didn’t even offer to toast, and a matcha that was extremely milky , it barely tasted like matcha. Both items came to $12. which felt pricey for the quality. To top it off, they didn’t have any change to give back, so at that point, keep it! Overall, respectfully, I won’t be returning. Matcha 0/10 Croissant 5/10 would’ve been a 10 if it was warm and toasty :/
Melissa — Google review
The desserts on display are so pretty and tasty to look at, but I think it’s because they’ve been displayed outside for a little too long. By the time we got our cake it was kind of stiff. The one we got was a lot of rich flavor and chocolate. The inside of the place is rather clean and modern. It’s a nice place to just sit and chat with a friend.
V — Google review
It was like being a kid in a candy store. I went there for my childhood snacks, BN cookies, but the other pastries caught my attention too. My favorite was the Kouign Amann. My least favorite was the Cannelé, but maybe it was just a bad day, because even their pain au raisins were way better than any I’ve had so far in this country.
Jessica B — Google review
Way overpriced. I had to leave this review when I realized they increased their passion fruit tart price from 9 to 11 dolars, this is ridiculous pricing. A similar , in fact better French bakery Colette, has their fruit tart price half at 6.5 dolar ( picture attached). Another picture I am adding is from France trip this year, fruit tarts 2.5 dolars. I know it is hard to compare countries but more than 4X pricing! That must show the absurdity.

Tucked away in a quiet alley off Hanover Street, Bricco Panetteria is a hidden gem known for its freshly baked bread and delicious deli sandwiches. This small counter-serve bakery offers a limited selection of Italian pastries and breads, including whole Italian loaves and Nutella-filled croissants.
Sfogliatella is done by a lot of bakeries in the North End but my favorite is from here! Going down an alleyway to find this place only makes it more of a fun find, but the pastries and breads really are great here. The mini Sfogliatella had great layering, a great custard filling, and all for $3! Definitely try to come at least once to this underrated secret spot!
Cameron — Google review
We visited Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop as part of The Politically Incorrect North End Food Tour wit Antony, and it was one of my favorite stops of the day. This tucked-away shop is owned by Frank DePasquale, who has built a small empire of restaurants in Boston’s North End. What makes Bricco so special is that it still feels like a neighborhood spot while supplying freshly made pasta and bread for many of his other restaurants. Inside, the shelves were lined with beautiful handmade noodles, sauces, and Italian sandwiches ready to go. Antony explained how the DePasquale family wanted to keep authentic Italian food traditions alive by making everything fresh daily — and you can taste the difference. We tried a sfogliatelle pastry, its crisp, flaky layers filled with a sweet ricotta and orange-flavored filling. It was absolutely heavenly — light, fragrant, and perfectly balanced. Everything in the shop looked so tempting, I could have filled a suitcase just with their fresh pasta. Another fun fact: Tom Cruise has even dined next door at Bricco, which shows how beloved this spot is, even by celebrities. But to me, the real magic was the combination of authenticity, quality, and the feeling that you’ve discovered one of Boston’s best-kept secrets. If you love Italian food, Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop is a must-stop in the North End. Go for the pasta, stay for the pastries — and don’t be surprised if you find yourself planning your return trip before you even leave.

Bricco Panetteria is a true hidden gem. I’ve walked by it countless times without noticing, tucked away in an alley off Hanover Street. Today we followed the sign and found a small spot serving pizza al taglio—thin, focaccia-style pizza by the slice. We tried the zucchini and mozzarella, perfectly warmed and folded to eat on the go—fresh, light, and delicious. The breads looked amazing too, so I’ll be back for a loaf. Cash only and no tables—just great grab-and-go food.

A must visit in the North End area. Nice shop off the road in a beautiful, though easy to miss, alley and into a basement where magic happens. We tried that Focaccia bread and Sfogliatella. Sfogliatella was great - crispy outside and soft tasty filling. Focaccia was great as well. Enjoyed both. They are cash only, so make sure to keep some if you’re buying something from here. Definitely visit.

Literal definition of hole in the wall and a MUST for anyone stopping in the North End. You need to get their sfogliatella. A delicate, flaky, crunchy pastry with a creamy, mildly sweet, lightly citrus and cinnamon filling.
Jack K — Google review
Bricco Panetteria is a hidden gem nestled in Boston’s North End, renowned for its artisanal breads and pastries. Located at 11 Board Alley, just off Hanover Street, this bakery is tucked down a narrow alleyway and accessed via a staircase leading to a cozy, basement-level shop. Established by restaurateur Frank DePasquale, Bricco Panetteria was created to supply fresh bread to his local restaurants. The bakery offers a selection of handcrafted breads, including olive ciabatta, prosciutto and parmesan-stuffed ciabatta, miche (a rustic rye loaf), sunflower bread, and brioche. Their pastries, such as the sfogliatella—a flaky pastry filled with sweet ricotta and citrus—are also highly praised. Note that the bakery operates on a cash-only basis. Adjacent to Bricco Panetteria is Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop, another establishment by Frank DePasquale. This Italian deli specializes in homemade pastas, sauces, and a variety of imported goods, including olive oils, vinegars, and cheeses. Notably, Bricco Salumeria is acclaimed for its Italian sausages, which are made in-house using traditional spices and methods. The shop also offers made-to-order sandwiches, allowing customers to enjoy their freshly prepared meats and cheeses on the spot. Both establishments are part of what locals refer to as “Bricco Alley,” offering an authentic Italian culinary experience away from the bustling main streets. We just picked up some freshly sliced prosciutto here, and it was incredible—melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly aged, and full of rich flavor. You can taste the quality and craftsmanship in every bite.

Honestly, I was disappointed. There weren’t many options, and the focaccia we bought wasn’t fresh, it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. I’ve had better bread from regular supermarket bakeries. Also, I noticed they handled bread and money without washing their hands, which didn’t feel very hygienic.

Cafe
Mariposa Bakery is a charming brick-walled establishment that offers a variety of homemade treats, sandwiches, and espresso drinks. Customers have enjoyed the convenience of purchasing surprise bags through the Too Good to Go app, which contain an assortment of bagels and rolls at great value. Despite some items not being the freshest due to their nature as 'leftovers,' they were still enjoyable after toasting.
It is infrequent in my weekly local cafe visits that I accidentally stumble on such a gem of the industry; however, when that does happen, there is no better experience in the monotone life of a student. I've been to over a dozen of the 'best cafes/bakeries' in Cambridge and the surrounding area, and Mariposa ranks highly within my list. While the coffee is not extraordinary in quality, there is a delicate care taken with every order, and a no-frills approach to the menu. The baked goods, especially the cookies, pair well with the basic-but-well-executed coffees, and for that I can appreciate a place to a higher degree than somewhere with excellent one hand and a mediocre second. The ambience and service, however, is by far one of the best I have experienced, including not only greater Boston, but around the world. For such a well-priced and minimalist rustic establishment, I could not help but take note of how even a few hours after I placed my order, when I asked for a bag, the man behind the counter provided it with a smile and a hint that he remembered my name. This is one of the few places where I can comfortably sit and read for hours, without feeling as if I should leave space for others. A real gem. Note: the Mexican Mocha with the Gingersnap Cookie is a delightful pairing, though perhaps a bit heavy for those without a sweet tooth.

I didn't see any pork on the menu and that was a great feeling. They make their own turkey sausage so I had to try that. Ordered their Mariposa Breakfast Sandwich and added the turkey sausage. I also had a blackberry ginger baked good. I enjoyed everything. ☺️

I ordered an online pickup (3 cold brews and two sandwiches) 20 minutes before i arrived at Mariposa. When i arrived i was told it would take 10 minutes to wrap up. 25 minutes of waiting later, i went up to the barista again and was told pretty nonchalantly that she forgot about me and the order had BEEN ready. The. Rage. I. Felt. I really usually don’t mind waiting for food, especially if the staff is nice and i’m being updated in some capacity about the status of my order-but not only did she not say absolutely anything in terms of updates (she walked past me like 4 times 😭) she deadass just forgot i existed. Like Girl. The nail in the coffin was hearing 7+ names of patrons being called for sandwiches and pastries before i had even been told my orders status. Might go back and order in person but i am absolutely never ordering online again. Also that girl needs to step up her game 😭 tffff

My friends and I stopped by after our morning run. I got the homemade vegetarian burger, apple blueberry pie, cranberry orange scone, and the decaf latte. Everything was delicious and filling, and one of the staff (Cindy) is clearly a v talented latte artist. They use nice ingredients and customize each menu item (e.g. my pretzel bun was shaped differently than my friend’s turkey sandwich). They have other vegetarian options as well. Overall I got healthy delicious food in a chill ambiance for a reasonable price. Would recommend to friends who are visiting.

Definitely my new favorite cafe to frequent. The menu is affordable and the baked goods are always fresh. Lattes have been consistently delicious, and I love their house made syrups! There are plenty of outlets, so it’s a great place to bring your laptop and work for a bit. The dining area is roomy enough for those with bikes or oversized backpacks to feel comfortable. I’ve only been here in the first hour they’re open and there are usually only a handful of folks here at this time. The staff is small, but they communicate well and provide quick quality service. There’s a little library by the order pickup with some good reads if there’s ever a wait. Overall I highly recommend hopping on over, grabbing a drink and a snack, and settling in with the great energy these folks have brought to this space!

Nestled in the heart of Brookline, Japonaise Bakery & Cafe is a delightful gem that has been enchanting locals since 1985. This charming spot beautifully blends Eastern and Western flavors, offering an array of classic and innovative baked goods. Founded by Hiroko Sakan, a determined single mother with no prior culinary experience, this bakery paved the way for Japanese-inspired treats in Boston.
A must stop if you are looking for good pastry and coffee. The selection is wider than that tho, with anything from cream filled pastry to savory nigiri! its a quite, cozy place with good service. Their cold brew with cream has a nice chocolaty note 🫶 (personally the matcha flavored pastry was not that flavorful, but that’s personal)

Wonderful little Asian bakery! I popped by Japonaise Bakery & Cafe to grab a few baked goodies for my friends and I, and we were all thoroughly impressed by everything here -- the classics (e.g., red bean bun, melon bun) were all delicious, but it was also really fun to try out a few of their specialty items (e.g., strawberry cream bun, black sesame melon bun). Every item featured soft, pillowy bread, and a generous serving of the filling. The filling was always the perfect level of sweetness (i.e., not overly sweet), although the strawberry cream bun did feel a bit more decadent / sweet compared to the other items. I also appreciated the staff's attention to detail and commitment to quality; their red bean buns were slightly overbaked, so they offered me those pastries for free. There isn't any seating available inside, but the shop is still quite cute, and there's a small covered patio a few blocks away that you can sit at.

I couldn’t recommend coming here more. I’ve been to this bakery a few times and their pastries are beautiful, fun, delicious and take me back to Japan. I couldn’t decide which filling I wanted and commented about how I love them all! That’s when an employee in the bakery kindly offered me a new bakery item to try (item in first picture). Lovely little Bakery really cute very sweet people very attentive very delicious looking baked goods but also they taste quite amazing. It was a delight to go in there. Lots of smiles from the workers. Happy to go back.

The pastries and food from this cafe are absolutely amazing, not only are they super tasty, they are also incredibly cute! One of my favorite items they have is a Totoro cream pastry that can have a number of different types of filling. Personally, I got the chocolate one and loved it! They also have a discount pastry section for day old pastries which are still super tasty. Their onigiri are also very good, I highly recommend the spicy tuna flavor.

I absolutely love the place. Although I don't come as often as I'd like. The staff is friendly and polite and will answer all your questions with a smile and ive never not seens the owner there. Everything is good here. Even the stuff I haven't tried whish at this point are the sandos. They even have a day old section where good have been discounted. I highly recommend the curry pan, raspberry cheese Danish, and any flavor totoro pan. They come in 5 flavors. Cream, chocolate, match, yuzu, and I forget the last. As good if not better than the patisseries i went to in Japan. Do yourself a favor and stop in the next time you're in town. You won't regret it.

A small local bakery with a lot of cute Japanese patisseries and desserts, their onigiris taste amazing too. The prices are also decent.

Paris Baguette is a popular spot known for its delectable pastries and cakes. While it may be a bit pricey, the quality of their offerings makes it worth the cost. The desserts are not overly sweet, striking a perfect balance of flavors. Their cheese danish and croissants are particularly delightful. In addition to sweets, they also offer fresh sandwiches on baguettes, making it an ideal lunch destination. Customers rave about their strawberry shortcake and smoothies as well.
Why the hell the total review score is 3.7? It is perfect here. The same menu that the NYC location has. Also tastier. Sometime I find cronut and others were being sold for days as I can feel the cold temperature of the cream. Employees are nice and they do their best to keep the sitting area clean. Better almond Croissant than Nero. Tate is still best for all bakery section.

Paris Baguette is my go-to spot for birthday cakes—they’re always beautifully made, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Whether it’s fruit-topped, chocolate, or cream-filled, every cake I’ve tried has been a hit with friends and family. The presentation is elegant, and the flavors are light yet satisfying—perfect for any celebration. In my opinion, it’s the best place to buy birthday cakes if you’re looking for quality and taste. Highly recommended! 🎂

Blueberry Chiffon Cake 🫐 Just when I thought cake couldn’t get any better, I tried this blueberry chiffon cake! 🍰💙 The texture is fluffy. Each slice melts in your mouth, giving you that light, airy feeling. The creamy frosting is the right finishing touch, and it is rich enough to complement the delicate chiffon base. The fresh blueberries enhance the flavour and add a pop of color, making it visually stunning too! 🫐✨😋 Overall, this cake is a delightful treat that’s perfect for any occasion 🙌💖😋

I am left with a bitter taste in my mouth with the quality/taste of this cake and the response from management. I’ve never thought I’d leave a negative review for this bakery. My husband got the “ double chocolate salted caramel layer cake” and one would assume the salt is on the caramel BUT no the salt is in the whole cake!!! This is the saltiest cake I’ve ever tasted! The WHOLE cake is salty. & I eat a lot of salt with my food in general so this was too much. I called management and they decided to argue instead of empathize. Then they offered to call corporate and call me back. Great, so they called me back to tell me there’s nothing they can do and corporate said the cake is supposed to be salty and they sold 11 cakes and no one complained. Wow. $63 for a salty cake that not one person in my party can tolerate.

You have stellar cakes and pastries. Your Coffee Croissant Donut is perfection. You need to discuss with your staff how to properly expedite and present your well crafted culinary masterpieces. The box is ideal not allowing for any damage to the Coffee Croissant Donut. Your staff keeps sending it to me in a bag though. Guess where all the icing is? Not on the donut. This is costing you money. Everytime I receive a damaged product I report it to the delivery service with pictures and receive a full refund. Wow I didn't think your service could get worse but this time they boxed the croissant coffee donuts upside down. I have pics. I replied on your website you never answered and obviously haven't addressed the issue. Hey thanks for the response but looks like your staff is still packaging your stellar pastries like they can't see and obviously don't care. One of your managers has an attitude problem. He was working an early afternoon shift and said they always package the pastries correctly in a box. He's not performing quality control checks. That donut was purchased today in the early afternoon. Hey ordered another coffee croissant donut and the female manager on duty in the early afternoon said she'd boxed the one from yesterday and today. Even if the delivery person dropped the bag, I don't see how a donut does a perfect flip without leaving icing on the sides of the box. Donut was upside down again. See pics from today.

I have been a loyal customer of this bakery cafe since it opened and I always enjoy my visit and supported this place regularly. However, on October 8, 2025 around 12pm to 1pm, I experienced a disappointing incident that I felt was important to share. When I arrived, a female employee who used to take my order suddenly ignored me. After helping one customer ahead of me, she just stared at me without saying anything or invite me to order. I stood there awkwardly until the male employee( I think he is a person in charge or responsible for this area) came out from the back and kindly stepped in to help me. This male employee has always been helpful, and appreciate that. But the overall shift in how the rest of the staff treat me lately has been noticeable and upsetting. I now feel forced to get my coffee elsewhere——which is disappointing after supporting this place so many years. I hope this feedback encourages the team to reflect on how they treat loyal, long-time customers.

I absolutely adore the food and location. ! The sandwiches are really fresh. I got chicken pesto sandwich on fresh baguette. I also bought a strawberry shortcake. The slide was filled with cream and strawberries in each bite. I also got a fresh strawberry banana smoothie. Everything I truly loved. I highly recommend it here for lunch or quick bite to eat.

Cafe
Flour Bakery + Cafe is a renowned bakery and coffee shop located in Cambridge, with multiple locations across the city. It's a must-visit for food enthusiasts looking for delectable sweets and baked goods. The menu boasts an array of specialties including breakfast cookies, chia seed pudding, whole wheat scones, granola parfaits, carrot cake, salads, banana bread, cupcakes, muffins and more.
A really nice bakery and cafe located close to the Harvard square. The place is popular and gets quite busy during peak hours. It’s designed well and has a good amount of seating options as well. They also have placed their merchandise in this store. The menu is vast and offers a large variety of sweet and savory baked items, as well as sandwiches and salads. Paid street parking is available around the area but very difficult to find as it is a busy and popular touristy area.

A beautifully simple and thoughtfully decorated café. We tried the brown butter cinnamon roll and the hummus sandwich—both were perfectly balanced in flavor and generously portioned. The hummus sandwich was light, refreshing, and satisfying without being heavy. The cinnamon roll had just the right touch of sweetness with a rich, buttery finish. Bonus points for the super cute and well-curated merchandise—definitely worth browsing. A lovely spot to start your Harvard tour! It’s just minutes away from the visitor’s centre.

Flour is a great place for lunch. I've tried a few sandwiches from here, and each one has been delicious. The seasonal menu changes, so there is always something new to try. The place is always busy (so you know it's good), the people are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. In addition to sandwiches, they have very tasty looking pastries and desserts. I definitely recommend stopping in for a coffee and something to eat!

Lots of choices and nice atmosphere! I hesitated a lot before settling for the carrot cake Unfortunately, it was so so sweet.. there is a lot of sugary cream inside and out. So I wouldn’t recommend if you’re not used to added sugar 🥲

lovee flour bakery. their sticky bun is to die for, and the rest of their pastries look so good as well. their drink selection is really good as well. i've only tried their matcha latte, and i thought it was pretty good. never super crowded, and a very open and inviting environment. great for a quick breakfast with friends!

The food is good. I particularly liked the chicken tikka sandwich. The place gets very crowded especially at peak times so you may have to wait for a seat. The seats are close so it's a bit cozy. It's by Harvard Square so it's a convenient location. The staff move quickly so they wait isn't too long. Overall it's a good place to stop for a quick meal.

Nice vegan items if you get there early enough. I love the cauliflower melt too. This place could be wonderful but the tables are disgustingly filthy. I don’t understand why I should tip 25% only to have my food at a nasty table like this.
Haibo — Google review
Went for lunch and ordered the smoked turkey sandwich( and a cappuccino), which sounded delicious on the menu. The best part of the sandwich was the bread, which is their signature product, so bravo. The cap was delicious and similar to what you'd get in Italy. However, the smoked turkey was hardly smoked, no smoked flavor or aroma, not to mention not enough of it. The sage mayo had no sage flavor and the cranberry relish was too tart and, there was so much of it that it overpowered everything else. Cheese was ok. Prices were fair, but only because the food was made to fit the price that's being charged, not the other around. Someone needs to reconfigure this sandwich to make it taste like its description.

Bakery
Verveine Cafe & Bakery is a charming spot with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the menu offers a variety of gluten-free options, including superb cinnamon rolls and excellent sandwiches. The bread is particularly noteworthy, even for those who don't typically seek out gluten-free options. The cafe also serves delicious drinks like butterfly pea flower lemonade and black sesame lattes. It's a must-visit for those looking for creative and tasty dishes in a welcoming setting.
It was a pretty sweet cafe. While seeing the uncooked dough right next to you might whet your appetite, sandwiches are only available on the lunch menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try sandwiches because we went early. The scone and bread with pesto were quite delicious. The coffee was generally good too.

Chaotic and a bit pricey but worth it for the delicious food! I visited a few months ago, and the line to order was wrapped around the store. Seating is limited, so be prepared to either wait or order takeout. In fact, my friends and I were seated at one of the long tables, and another customer who'd just joined the back of the line asked us if her group could take our seats after they ordered, even though we were clearly not yet finished with our food! I was admittedly taken aback. Of course this isn't any fault of the staff, more of a testament of how crowded it gets here and how you have to either come early or be patient. The staff were also weaving in and out of the crowd to reach the fridges/storage along the walls, which contributed to the chaotic atmosphere; if they could find space to move those to back of house/out of the dining area, that would definitely make it feel less crowded and cramped. One of our dishes took longer to arrive than the others, but the staff were very apologetic about it, and overall service was very friendly despite the rush. The pastries and drinks are DELICIOUS! I honestly couldn't tell that any of the pastries were gluten-free. My gripe with most ube foods is that the ube flavor isn't strong enough, but I could taste the ube in both the brownie (super dense and fudgy) and the ube-matcha latte (strong matcha flavor too!). The bibingka had a nice glutinous, chewy texture and sweet (but not too sweet!) coconut flavor. MASARAP!

Verveine is a gem for celiac and gluten free eaters! The food is decadent and delicious. The options are unique compared to the usual gluten free fare, however, not so unique that there are too many competing flavors or would be out of the scope of what I would be looking for. The portion size is good and doesn’t feel like the typical smaller gluten free portion. Beyond the food the service is spectacular! I order delivery as my hotel was on the other side of the Charles and they ran out of stock in one of the items I ordered and without any questions they refunded that item and gave me something else similar at no cost. A+ service and you have my gratitude. Oh and I mentioned that even though it’s a chilly November morning all my items arrived warm?! I hope I have another work trip or other reason to return to Boston so I can come back here again!

Worth the hype! Food is excellent and great service too! I’m no celiac and everything tasted, dare I say, better than most of the pastries I’ve had in other local bakeries. The Chilli Jam and Egg Buscuit was amazing, so was the Banana Bread!
Letícia S — Google review
I’m a frequent diner at Verveine as it’s obviously the best place (gf or not) in all of Boston. I came here today on a Sunday, the line was looooong (45 minutes long) and the place was the most packed I’ve ever seen it! When our food came out, we were missing a sandwich. I ordered 2 of the same sandwich but they must have only heard 1. Anyway, someone came our table to explain the situation and have us order a new one, apologized, and said they would rush the order. she then gave us a free cookie for the trouble (unnecessary as it really was NO trouble but very much accepted and appreciated). SO nice and sweet when they were SLAMMED. Food was amazing per usual, then someone next to us knocked over our coffee while they were getting up. A woman (she has dark hair and every time I’m here I see her working so hard on the floor) immediately came over, insisted on cleaning it up, and insisted we get a new coffee. She was so so so sweet, kind, and helpful. This is all to say, yes the food is bomb obviously, but the customer service was amazingly fabulous during an especially busy time. I was very impressed and happy and big shoutout to the woman who is always working hard on the floor, sorry I don’t know her name. :) (photo of my chicken bacon ranch pita)

This cafe is 100% gluten free and I definitely did not believe my eyes! Adorable French style patisseries, brioches, baguettes, cinnamon rolls, scones… the list of their delicacies goes on. Each one looks and tastes more appealing than the last. My friend got their rice congee for breakfast and I chose a hot honey biscuit, caramel cinnamon roll, and a scallion and cheese scone and I couldn’t believe how stretchy and flakey their gluten free goodies were. 1000/10 I will be returning to Boston again for the sole purpose of coming back here!!

Delicious food, sat out on a warm fall morning! We stopped in for breakfast Wednesday morning. Chai was the perfect temperature! I got the spicy jam biscuit sandwich - the biscuit must have been gluten free, but it tasted super regular. The congee is also really good. The ube brownie was delicious, and the corn cookie was good to me, but my friend really didn’t like it.

Lakon Paris Patisserie Seaport is a popular bakery in Boston known for its decadent croissants that gained widespread attention in the spring of 2023. The specialty croissants at Lakon Paris Patisserie have become a viral sensation, drawing long lines of customers eager to taste these delectable pastries. Visitors praise the helpful and patient staff who assist with selecting from a variety of breakfast croissants.
On our way to the Institute of Contemporary Art early in the morning, we were drawn in by this charming and popular pastry shop. It had a lively atmosphere, with a small group celebrating and several others waiting for their orders. We really liked the cozy interior and contemporary decor. We ordered an iced green tea latte, which was delicious. There are also plenty of tables and chairs outside, making it a great spot to relax. Definitely a nice place to stop by if you’re in the area!
Wei W — Google review
Lakon Paris at the Seaport is a must-visit for croissant lovers – just make sure to go early, as most of their best-sellers sell out fast. We tried the pistachio croissant, mango passionfruit cruffin, and tiramisu latte. The pistachio croissant, filled with rich pistachio cream, was indulgent and flaky. The mango cruffin had a beautiful texture – crisp, flaky layers with a tropical twist. The tiramisu latte had a delightfully fluffy top, but the coffee underneath was quite standard. We spent $27 for these three items and the taste and size justify sharing. Portions are generous, so it's ideal for splitting with a friend.
Sukesh S — Google review
The pastries here look as good as they taste! I tried the pistachio croissant — it was generously filled with cream, more than I’m used to, but still delicious. The outdoor seating area made for a pleasant spot to enjoy it, though indoor seating is quite limited.
Zee I — Google review
Lakon Paris Patisserie in the Seaport is such a cute spot. The butter croissant (voted best in Massachusetts) is a must, and their seasonal specials like tiramisu cups and fruity pastries are just as tasty as they look. Coffee and lattes pair perfectly — the Thai tea latte is good and not too sweet. It does get busy, so go early before things sell out.
Son T — Google review
I wanted to like it, but why there needs to be artificial coloring added to the croissants, when they look so good to begin with? Overall I liked the texture of the croissant and the matcha cream inside. The crroisant was light and airy, but there was too much of the cream inside. The ice coffee was nothing to rave about. The service wasn't great. There were too many people behind the counter, but it was unclear what they were doing while people were waiting in line.
Elina U — Google review
After leaving Gracenote, I made my way over to Lakon Paris Patisserie in the Seaport—a bakery I had heard about more than once, always with an undertone of admiration. The moment I stepped inside, I understood why. The space has that distinct charm found in well-loved patisseries: warm, inviting, filled with the soft aroma of butter, sugar, and quiet craftsmanship. The staff were lovely, moving with a calm rhythm that immediately puts you at ease. Their pastry selection is impressively wide, spanning classic French viennoiserie to richer, more indulgent desserts. I chose a Basque cheesecake, a pistachio marzipan croissant, a brioche cinnamon roll, and a spinach and cheese pastry. Each one was thoughtfully made—layered, delicate, and balanced. The pistachio croissant in particular carried that perfect harmony of nuttiness and sweetness, while the brioche cinnamon roll felt warm and nostalgic without being overly heavy. The Basque cheesecake was rich in the best way, with that soft, almost custard-like center you hope for. Even the savory pastry held its own beautifully. One of the highlights of my visit was meeting Kamy, the owner. She was incredibly gracious—warm, welcoming, and generous enough to offer me a pastry on the house. It added such a sincere, personal touch to the experience. I was also served by Charmi, who was patient, kind, and genuinely lovely throughout. Lakon is undoubtedly a place I would recommend. It leans on the pricier side—especially coming from New York, where I’m used to a certain standard—but the quality, craftsmanship, and hospitality make the visit worthwhile. A delightful stop, and one I’d happily return to on future trips to Boston.
Mohammed A — Google review
We return to lakon regularly throughout the year. Lines have gotten less crazy the longer they are open which is nice. They post on Instagram rotating monthly pastry specials that are too enticing to pass up. Came in for September pastries and they were all phenomenally well done. This place continues to be a great addition to Boston. If you aren’t into sweets, they always have a few savory croissants that are always a must get. Tiramisu latte is 100% worth the hype. Keep up the great work.

Lakon Paris Patisserie in Seaport is a little slice of Paris in Boston! ✨ Cozy Parisian vibes the second you walk in. The Nutella cube croissant? 10/10 . Classic croissant? Perfection. I went here for lunch today because it was raining and it was the only place that I saw close by to get food. I got a Turkey sandwich. Take a look at the cheese slice that was on one side of my sandwich. Miniature! I took 2 bites, didn't taste any cheese, so I went looking for it. The pics don't really show how small it was. Put together, the sandwich looks ok. Pull it apart and It's a Lettuce Sandwich with a little turkey and a quarter piece of cheese. The sandwich was $14.98! No bag of chips, no pickle, JUST the Lettuce Sandwich. I was in a bind today. This isn't a place that I would frequent if I lived in the Neighborhood. 3 Stars for prompt service and friendly Staff. The sandwich tasted very blah.

Not your typical wedding cake vendor, but AP should be! We’ve gone to AP for sandwiches and wine since 2018. We happened to try one of their cakes for a friend’s birthday, and it was the best cake I had ever had. Though they aren’t specifically a wedding cake place, they were willing to make us a small wedding cake and cupcakes to match. We came up with some creative flavors (corn cake with peaches and cream frosting and vanilla cake with lemon and raspberry) and it was INCREDIBLE. Kenny and Kara were so easy to work with and very responsive. The cake and cupcakes were so pretty and the best part is it tasted incredible. It was a really hot day, but the cake was not too sweet or overpowering. It was a delight to eat even on a hot day - I kept eating it even after our tasting. Best cake around!

PRB Boulangerie is a new French bakery that offers high-quality pastries and bread. The atmosphere is friendly and cafe-like, with a quaint location next to the old BSC. The pastry selection is varied, and there's even outdoor seating under a giant umbrella. The staff are friendly, and the bakery also offers cold pre-packed meals. It's recommended to try their Nutella babka and pain au chocolat while enjoying the relaxed ambiance.
The truffle fries portion is big, but truffle oil is not as generous as you can smell or taste at every single fries, maybe balance between too overwhelmed. Main i ordered Coq Au Vin, the meat came a bit dry, but overall taste good. The dessert is good! Slight waiting time, maybe due to the big group.

This is a very spacious and quaint cafe. We came around 2pm on a Sunday and there were a lot of open tables. We got a couple of sandwiches and a soup. The boeuf bourguinon sandwich was excellent -- the meat and mushrooms were tender and covered in an unctuous sauce, with a great kick from the mustard. I would definitely get this again. It was decadent in all the best ways. The bread was not the best, but it was masked by the amazing filling. The Parisian ham and cheese sandwich was not as good, mainly because the bread was quite disappointing. It was very soft and a bit floury. I would've preferred a crustier bread with more structure. The filling was fine, and I liked the pickle, but I would've liked more ham as well. Praline's version of this sandwich is way better, mostly because of the bread. We also got the French onion soup ($10), which my husband, a French onion soup hater, loved. It has a nice crusty cheese top and was a bit sweet. Overall the boeuf bourguinon sandwich was excellent, but the sandwich bread was not great. I'd come back for that one sandwich, though!

Tried the new brunch menu and had a great time. Our server, Lucas, was a superstar. The breakfast sandwich needs a little extra something - like some mustard or a chutney. But overall a really nice relaxing place to grab brunch and a coffee ☕

Stopped by for brunch last weekend, the Croque Monsieur was amazing! The handsome young man Alex helping us was an absolute sweetheart and very attentive. The girls ordered mimosas, and I had a Bee’s Knees, which I’d never heard of, suggested by the sweet young woman at the bar, Karina I believe, and it was delish, truly. It was pretty busy, so I’d recommend making a reservation if you’re coming on a weekend. Service was quick and great overall! Looking forward to experiencing dinner here!

I love Cafe Saint-Germain and am lucky enough to live around the corner. I've never had a disappointing bite of food and their coffee is great. I did remove one star as a was a bit disappointed with allergy safety the other day. I have a nut allergy (not severe) so a kitchen also serving nuts is not an issue for me as long as some precautions are taken to avoid cross contamination. A couple years ago, when this place first opened as Boulangerie I was thrilled when the pastry chef told me it would be safe for me to eat the chocolate croissants. At the time, the chocolate croissants were displayed on a different level than the almond croissants or with a different pastry separating them. Now I'm disappointed to see that the chocolate and almond croissants are displayed next to each other and touching on the counter, with almonds sometimes scattered around the counter. The staff member working also informed me that they're carried to the counter on a shared tray in the mornings too. I would really appreciate if the pastries containing almonds could be displayed on a tray or something on a different level from the rest. I would also love if they could be carried to the display on a separate tray.

You should Definitely try it it you’re into French pastry. This is a relatively new bakery with excellent quality French pastry. I have not yet tried their bread as I bike around this area but based on the quality of pastry I’d bet it’s top quality too. UPDATE on bread: I tried it on two separate occasions. I think it is too salty. They have a espresso machine and their espresso is what you can find in a cafe in business district of Milan. However, there is an excellent coffeeshop that roast their coffee steps away where you can grab single origin beans and light roast coffee etc.

Came on a Sunday morning to check it out. There were 15 ppl inside with about 15 open tables. The First Lady told us they were sold out and offered the bar for us to sit at. Then they had no menus. We waited and waited for a menu and it never came. We ended up ordering off the wall menu and cabinet food. They forgot to bring us 1 of the 2 items we ordered. We also had to clean our own table. Comes across as an upscale cafe but is really just another understaffed average place. Way better options out there than this place. Outdoor tables are all set up but were never offered to us as an option. Felt like the staff did not want to be there or try to break a smile.

My family and I wanted to come here because of all the great reviews we had seen, but we have never been so disappointed from a breakfast before. What should’ve been a warm and delicious breakfast sandwich came out cold and unpleasant so much so that we couldn’t even eat more than 2 bites. When we asked if these were premade because they were so cold we were told they were made fresh, which is incredibly hard to believe after our experience. Ultimately we just got up and left because the food was that horrible. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!!

Bakery
The Black Rose European Bakery is a delightful addition to the MetroWest area, with plans for a second location in Back Bay. This charming bakery specializes in an exquisite selection of French and Italian pastries, including macarons, cannoli, and an array of cakes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Visitors rave about the warm atmosphere created by Joey, whose dedication to customer service shines through every interaction. His extensive knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate dietary needs make each visit feel personalized.
My favorite little spot on Newbury Street. The prices are on the higher side, but the desserts make it worth it—especially the crème brûlée, which I absolutely love. The patio has such a great vibe in the summer, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a sweet treat.

Solid spot for cakes and coffee on Newbury. Stopped by for a quick sugar fix this past weekend. The vibes were reminiscent of the Central Perk Coffeehouse next door—just on a smaller scale. The menu leaned heavily on cakes, cookies, and sweet pastries, and cheesecakes seemed to be their specialty. Naturally, I got a couple of their cheesecakes along with a slice of tiramisu. The tiramisu was just average, but all the cheesecakes I tried were nice. While they weren’t as creamy as Tatte’s, they were definitely a step above the standard offerings from most dessert spots around Boston. I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to return for their cakes, but if you’re in the neighborhood and casually craving something sweet, Black Rose is worth considering.

All and all, it’s a good little cafe. The vibes are very cute and elegant. Perfect for hanging out or enjoying a coffee and treat alone. The desserts are very appetizing tho a bit too sugary. The coffee does the job too but it’s just average.

Every time I’m in Boston, I make it a point to stop by Black Rose European Bakery—and it never disappoints. I’ve tried several of their pastries over the years, and everything has been consistently delicious. The crème brûlée is hands-down my favorite: rich, creamy, and perfectly torched on top. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the quality and flavor make it well worth it. Highly recommend for anyone with a sweet tooth or a love for well-crafted European pastries. This place is a gem!

We didn’t try the cakes but they looked delicious and there was a good variety. The deco nice and a comfy bright place to have a warm drink on a chilly afternoon. Service was so-so but overall would come again for sure when I have appetite for a cake or pastry

I ordered a Freshly Squeezed OJ and got OJ from concentrated with a slice of orange and a bit of pulps on top. I’m a Floridian, can fool me on OJ! Also they forgot to give me the espresso that I paid and had to remind and ask for it, amateurs.

I can't say enough great things about Joey at The Black Rose European Bakery! From the moment we first walked in, Joey went above and beyond to ensure our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Every visit felt like a personal interaction rather than just a transaction. His knowledge about the menu and his genuine willingness to accommodate our dietary restrictions were impressive and greatly appreciated. Joey’s patience and enthusiasm made it clear that he truly cares about his customers' satisfaction. Whether it was finding the perfect gluten-free option or making sure our vegan needs were met, he always had a solution and a smile. It’s rare to encounter someone so dedicated and accommodating, and Joey’s exceptional service truly made our visits to the bakery memorable and enjoyable. If you’re looking for top-notch service and a bakery experience that goes beyond the ordinary, Joey at The Black Rose European Bakery is the person to seek out. His commitment to excellence and customer care sets the bar incredibly high. We can’t wait for our next visit, knowing we’ll be met with the same outstanding service!

This bakery is wonderful! I went for the crookie (cookie croissant) and they ran out, and they kindly made more, and it ended up being the best I ever had (including the one I had in France)! The crème brûlée was also amazing! They have so many cakes and pastries, and I can’t wait to try more!

Hearth & Hug Bakery, located in a cozy corner of the market, offers a delightful selection of freshly made pastries and cakes from Wednesday to Saturday. The Dulce de Leche macaroon and Apple Cheesecake are particularly noteworthy. Customers recommend arriving early to savor the freshness of their offerings. The burnt almond cake is praised for its moistness, while the buttercream icing is described as rich and indulgent.
got the canelé and sea salt pretzel. their canelé was absolute perfection with the crunchy first bite and the delightfully soft inside. the pretzel was yummy as well, with such depth to the pretzel flavor. can’t wait to try everything else they have!

Visited Boston Public Market as soon as they opened yesterday and immediately purchased a cheddar and onion scone from Hearth & Hug! All their pastries looked delicious but I wanted something savory and my scone was very tasty! ☺️

Great place to grab an early morning breakfast or a late afternoon/night snack. Try the ham and cheese croissant! The everything bagel seasoning on top really drives the entire thing home.

Breads and sweet treats. Sampled a brownie…can’t have just one! The bakery does not skimp on the chocolate. Very fresh.

These are the best baked goods that I've had in a long time. I ate all of them too quickly to take photos, but I'm looking forward to getting back there soon! I was helped by Natalie, the owner, and she was truly delightful. She took the time to answer all my questions about the pastries and we chatted about the bakery itself as well. Here's what I bought: Canele: a small French pastry that was semi-caramelized on the outside and soft custard/cake interior. Insanely delicious. Dream cookie: chocolate, marshmallows, cornflakes. Some caramelized lace had baked around the edge and OMG just so so good. M&M cookie: as an M&M cookie lover, this is the best one I've ever had. The M&Ms are throughout the dough almost at like a 50-50 ratio. Exterior was crispy, interior was soft and chocolatey. I need 100 more.

The butter croissant is the best I’ve ever had, period. The ham and cheese croissant, blueberry muffins, and scones are also some of my favorites. You can’t go wrong with anything here and I’m always surprised the line isn’t around the corner every time I show up! Do yourself a favor and check it out!
Brian H — Google review
In a word- resplendent! The ham & cheese croissant is perfection! Light, buttery, soft yet crispy croissant with ham & cheese inside. The top is sprinkled with an everything bagel spice. I’m out of words, it’s perfect!

My wife had the Golfeado for breakfast. It is a Venezuelan pastry from what I understand. It was quite good. The lady at the counter was polite and helpful.
