Irish pub
Bar
Chicken restaurant
Restaurant
The Dirty Onion and Yardbird is a unique establishment in Belfast, housed in a historic timber-framed building dating back to 1680. It seamlessly combines traditional Irish pub aesthetics with modern elements, such as a Jameson barrel sculpture in the beer garden and the presence of Yardbird chicken restaurant. This fusion creates a hipster-friendly atmosphere while still retaining its soul as one of the finest places for traditional Irish live music.
Popped in here late afternoon for something to eat. Tried the fried chicken yard burger and gravy loaded fries and both were delicious! The pub was pretty busy for the time of day and had live music downstairs. Great atmosphere, would definitely go again.

Was here with a group of friends on a Sunday night. The place was great. Atmosphere was brilliant and the service was quick and hassle free. “Anna’s number” were playing and were genuinely some of the best live entertainment I’ve seen in a bar in a while. From the mix of music, crowd interaction and a saxaphone of all things. Overall the aesthetic of the whole place is pretty neat and I will happily come back again.
Joe C — Google review
A lovely location for a night out. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and was full when we were there so it is necessary to make a booking well in advance. The food was very filling and enjoyable, and it was reasonably priced (Most mains cost between £10-£15). Would definitely recommend!
Lily C — Google review
Food was absolutely wonderful. We had the rotisserie chicken meal for 2. It's a good deal and comes with two drinks and some side dishes making it a good value. It would be 5 stars but our server cleared our plates and seemingly ignored us afterwards. We had to go and ask for the bill. Great spot, good food and awesome atmosphere.
E M — Google review
I made a reservation two weeks ago. The restaurant is upstairs of the Bar of Dirty Onion. I waited to be seated but the staff didnt seemed bothered to ask. First we got a table where its impossible to sit if someone eats at the bar of the restaurant. The staff ignores you and seemed like to have Gen Z behavior. Even the chefs in the kitchen looked unmotivated. Just one blonde lady was friendly. Food was fine. Restaurant itself too loud with inside music and outside. Rotisserie Chicken looked too charcoaled. Price for two persons fine. But we wouldn't come again. Dissapointing.
Mirella N — Google review
Cozy place. Nice music and atmosphere. Chicken and salad were yummie. Got an upgrade to a half chicken thigh, a quarter is too little even for me. Staff is quick, reactive and friendly.
Karla E — Google review
Located on the second floor. The grilled chicken was tender and juicy. The dips were tasty. The ribs were soft. Overall, it was a good experience.
Juthathat K — Google review
Had dinner at the Yardbird which is located on the 2nd floor and the food was delicious. We got the loaded fries with rotisserie chicken, cheese and gravy and a large serving of the sweet bqq chicken wings - YUM. After dinner we had a few drinks in the dirty onion and this has a great atmosphere!

Live music venue

Night club
Limelight is a renowned nightclub and live music venue that has been a staple of Belfast's nightlife since the 1980s. It has earned its reputation as one of the city's primary spots for live music, hosting international touring acts, popular club nights, and local bands. Over the years, it has welcomed legendary performers such as Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Snow Patrol, and Manic Street Preachers.
My friend and I flew to Belfast to see Flogging Molly. We were not disappointed. What a venue! What a band! What an awesome night! The prices were grand, the people were grand. 100% recommend. Thank you Belfast, Thank you Ireland. We will return 💚
Keeley — Google review
Great venue for gigs and concerts. The bar can get really busy but the staff manage it well. The atmosphere is incredible because it's just the right size for intimate gigs.
Ella R — Google review
This was a great venue for clubbing where the staff at the door were ready to allow missing places of non attendees to be bought at the door, allowing for my entry to join a friend! Atmosphere is electric and the red/pink colours add to the vibe, plenty of seating for any chill time too. Cheap deals are available on drinks during Thursdays when I went for Magners and Corona is priced decently on Fridays, service takes very long sometimes when the staff had to be prompted by people to notice I was even there and the music is fun but a few songs are a bit cheesy.
K. P — Google review
Limelight Belfast had a surprisingly quiet Friday—no queues and plenty of space. Music and drinks were still good, but it lacked the usual lively atmosphere. Better for a chill night than a full-on party.
POULAMI D — Google review
Great venue for live music. Not too big and you can always get close to the stage. Drinks are way too expensive though. Staff are excellent, friendly and make sure it is a safe, enjoyable environment for all.

Great bar for a live gig

Disgraceful. Me and my Dad went to the limelight last night for the stone roses tribute band gig before walking round to the limelight we had 2 pints of beer in pug uglys. When we got to the door we were ready to get our tickets out on our phone and they denied us entry because we had had too much to drink. Then told us to “go for a walk and get a coffee” which is disgraceful seeing we paid £45 PER TICKET night ruined and more importantly a memory thanks to power tripping bouncers who think they are someone. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY FOLKS. Also one of my friends went to the limelight a couple weeks ago now and they denied him entry because he was also Too drunk… my friend had nothing to drink that night as he was on antibiotics. He was left to wait for a taxi outside in the cold whilst watching all his mates go in. Complete Scum

Pub
The Duke of York is a classic pub located in a picturesque area of Belfast. It has a rich history, having been frequented by journalists and even employing Gerry Adams as a barman. The pub was rebuilt after being bombed during The Troubles and now features murals, pictures, and Northern Irish slogans as a tribute to the city. With its mirrored whiskey bar, old advertising signs, live music, craft beers, and whiskies, it offers a convivial spot for visitors.
The Duke of York is one of my favorite pubs in Belfast. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the beautiful ceilings and the walls filled with interesting memorabilia that tell stories about the city’s past. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. What stood out most to me was how friendly and attentive the staff were they really made me feel at home. I especially enjoyed sitting outside on the street, where you can comfortably drink a good pint while watching people pass by and feeling the buzz of the city. It’s a lively yet laid-back spot that captures the true spirit of Belfast. Whether you’re into history, great drinks, or just want a fun place to hang out, the Duke of York offers all of that and more. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting after thank to me (:
Anıl K — Google review
Two stops during our recent stay in Belfast. Luckily we were able to sit outside and then at an inside table. Busy and crowded but the service staff never seemed harried and were friendly and helpful. Tourists and locals all seemed to be having a great time.
JM B — Google review
Finally, after many trips to Belfast, we made it to the Duke of York. The interior and exterior decor and vintage collectibles are worth the visit alone. It was quiet when we were there mid afternoon on a week day but we know it is usually crazy busy. We each had a Guinness (as part of a mini pub crawl). Well poured, creamy, perfect temperature. We’ve had one or two better elsewhere in the city but they were better marginally. These are great pints. Friendly staff. Would recommend and will go again.
Sandi H — Google review
This place is full of great lively pub atmosphere. You are lucky to find a seat as the night goes on and the live music starts. Didn’t get food but had a pint and listened to the music. Had fun just looking at the walls here!
Anne J — Google review
Really interesting pub with literally hundreds of mirrors and pub memorabilia on the walls. A bit of a tourist trap and very busy but staff were friendly and efficient. Worth a visit.
Richard W — Google review
Amazing pub with such incredible decorations, a vibrant atmosphere and lovely and very efficient staff! Lovely outdoor area with lots of benches which you can bring drinks out to and enjoy all the street art and decoration! Definitely my favourite pub I’ve been to on my visit here, would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Belfast!
Josie C — Google review
This was the second Irish bar we’ve tried — completely different from the first one, but still felt so authentically Irish 😁 They serve a wide variety of beers and were surprisingly packed even on a Monday afternoon
Mugsey — Google review
A very busy pub in the most vibrant part of Belfast. Memorabilia covers the walls and ceilings creating an eclectic atmosphere. As you enter the pub it feels very crowded but there is also a large back room with more space. Live music creates a fun atmosphere, but a little too cramped for my liking.

Cocktail bar
Restaurant
Bert's Jazz Bar, located within the Merchant Hotel in Belfast, offers a taste of 1930s New York with its stylish and sophisticated ambiance. The bar features live jazz music and a carefully curated list of cocktails, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a bygone era. The art deco interiors transport visitors to the Parisian jazz scene of the 1930s, providing an experience steeped in sophistication.
We had an absolutely superb dinner and in general a beautiful night with live music. What a fantastic way to celebrate my birthday! We arrived to the venue a little earlier. That gave us a chance to enjoy a cocktail at their bar. They have a vast selection, all listed in a menu that looked like a big passport. So funny! The cocktails were really good and that prepared us to have a nice meal. Both he started and the main that I ordered were exceptionally tasty. I was so satisfied that I decided not to skip dessert. And that's where the staff surprised me with the gift of a delicious bitesize brownie. Even the berries were delicious and sweet! The music was very nice and we could enjoy it perfectly as our table was the closest to the musicians. I would totally go back.
Francesco B — Google review
I wouldn't recommend it specifically for jazz but the service was impeccable, food and cocktails delicious! Music was fine but nothing special as artists seemed quite bored or tired.
Vsevolod R — Google review
We visited Bert's Jazz Bar, by chance, a few years ago and loved it. We got a chance you visit again a few days ago and it was class. Booked a table for a meal, great seats, right beside the musicians and they were excellent. A really nice venue with a brilliant atmosphere.
Mark R — Google review
Absolutely adored this night time haven, a must for live music and jazz standards. Such a treat, wonderful to relax, enjoy great food or have a drink in this authentic jazz bar. All this in a welcoming place with exceptional service while you soak up the outstanding musicans who deliver beautiful live music ranging from jazz classics to latin jazz.
Linda B — Google review
Bert’s Jazz Bar is perfect for a date night or special occasion! Amazing atmosphere, great music, and excellent service. Food and drinks 10/10 🔥
Martyna P — Google review
Lovely Jazz bar, very relaxed vibe. Cocktails were lovely, the mixologist definitely knew what they were doing. Could of sat there all night listening to the music and having a few ( or many ) Cocktails. Had desserts, which were lovely. Would definitely return when in Belfast again.

I would give six stars if I could. Straight off the plane, I stumbled across this gem of a jazz bar. Food was fantastic, good live jazz and service is impeccable. Kudos to Sé for looking after me this evening.

Does a really good chateaubriand and that's what I was there for (wife was there for the cocktails) No complaints simple quality food. Is pricey but it was expected. Cocktails top quality but also pricey. Service great and atmosphere really chill, lovely place to go to ease yourself into an evening of craic

Historical landmark
The Crown Liquor Saloon, built in the 1880s, is a renowned pub in Belfast known for its stunning Victorian and Baroque interiors. The exterior boasts a multi-colored tiled facade with a distinctive crown motif at the entrance. Inside, visitors can admire the ornate red granite bar, intricate mosaic tiles, stained glass windows, and detailed woodwork. The pub's historic significance is further enhanced by its appearance in various films over the years.
This was such a cool pub to grab a pint and lunch at. We went upstairs to eat but I really wish we had gone downstairs because it was such a cool area. The downstairs had a historic and unique design. Besides that the food was so good. The service was a bit slow but there seemed to be only two people working.
Tyler C — Google review
A very beautiful and popular historic pub. I especially liked the private snug room, which we had to book in advance for an extra £10 — but it was absolutely worth it. It’s a great feeling to be in a lively pub yet still have your own quiet, private space. The food and drinks were very good. However, the service was not great — probably because there were too many guests and not enough staff that day.
Vital Y — Google review
World class pub! Outstanding food, drinks, and service. All the staff is really friendly and helpful. The pub also has snugs- if you’re lucky enough to grab one, do it! I was in Belfast only a couple days but The Crown Liquor Saloon became my pub. Plus their food is outstanding! The steak pie, the tart, and the bangers & champ were all delicious. There’s a dining room upstairs if you can’t get a spot downstairs.
Emily P — Google review
Stunning bar for a unique drink or a memorable evening. Good beer, wide selection of drinks cocktail specials were particularly good on the evening we went. The real attraction is the venue: a historic boozer, with largely original interiors and stunning tiling and ornate ceilings. The main bar area is flanked by boothed seating complete with doors and windows - apparently this was for sultry business transactions to be agreed away from prying eyes in more reserved times! We went for a drink, stayed for a few. Atmosphere is great, was busy but not overbearingly so.
D M — Google review
Exactly what you would expect of an Irish pub/bar/saloon. Plenty of activity, can be loud and crowded but the atmosphere is perfect. The dining area is upstairs. Much more quiet and well decorated. There is a limited menu but they have very good selections. Staff is polite and helpful. Food was good.
Mike F — Google review
Wow this is quite a place, I think to get the full experience you need to secure a booth and order on the App, so they bring things to you, as you sit in the private booth. Really enjoyed this pub experience and had some local food "champ" (a type of mashed potatoe) and a well made cocktail. Amazing decor. I hope they keep this place how it is.
K Q — Google review
Really unique pub, you can definitely feel the history of the place when you enter. Great service and we enjoyed sitting in one of the snugs! We only got drinks but the food looked and smelled great. Will be recommending this place to everyone who visits Belfast!
Martin M — Google review
A beautifully-preserved pub and my favourite in Belfast. Owned by the National Trust with all of its original features intact, including gas lighting! The booths, with their high screens and doors, create a nostalgic atmosphere. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. A great place to spend an evening with friends.

The Spaniard in Belfast's Cathedral Quarter is a quirky and welcoming bar that boasts an impressive collection of rum, bourbon, and tequila. The eclectic decor adorned with drinks posters, nautical prints, and religious paintings creates a unique atmosphere that attracts a diverse crowd. Upstairs offers more space and live music while downstairs provides a cozy setting. This dog-friendly establishment also serves up signature cocktails starting at just 5 each.
Charming and cosy pub, attentive and welcoming staff and great prices! Would definitely recommend a visit!
Josie — Google review
I love this place. It's a home away from home when I'm in Belfast. But it would be nice on a quite Monday night, if the staff gave a 'last orders' shout, so I could have ordered one last drink before leaving. Especially as it was officially still open for another hour. We were the only ones in, so a quiet 'we're closing if you want to order one last drink' would have been appreciated. Especially, as I was planning on having one of their great Dark and Stormy's for my last drink! 😁 Still my favourite bar in Belfast, though 👍
Steven K — Google review
The lady who served my Guinness didn't let it sit, and then wipe the head off with it with a knife.... Gf accepted it. Good service, Clean, Music, it's a nice pub.
Jay K — Google review
Do not expect to get a glass of Spanish red vermouth at The Spaniard. They will however, make you up a fine Dark & Stormy. The Spaniard is not a pub. It is a bar. They call themselves a rum bar. It's not fancy. It's actually quite perfect. We sat at the bar. We chatted with the two bartenders who were amiable and chill. It just has a nice laid back vibe. It's not too bright. The music is just right. If you have had enough of the pubs in Belfast pay a visit to The Spaniard.
Tom L — Google review
A small but lively pub in the Cathedral quarter of Belfast. Had an absolutely fantastic pint of Guinness in here. 10/10 with great service. Venue let down by dirty toilets which put us off so much we left after one drink. Sort that out and you’re onto a winner!
Mike R — Google review
The Spanaird is a Belfast institution it's been part of the Belfast city centre nightlife for 20yrs or more, which in pub years is a long time. Many bars have come and gone in that time. It's small cosy and eclectic. The rum list is vast and you'll definitely find one you like. It's always a varied if slight older crowd and a welcome change to the bigger busier bars in the area. You're guaranteed to get chatting to a local Belfast character if you stay long enough.

The Comedy night with James have been amazing fun. James Downey is a great host and fun comedian. I enjoyed the evening ( Craig the ging) even i didnt understand all the jokes. Staff at the bar was friendly and drinks avordable.

I'vee been drinking in the Spaniard for years, mainly at weekends, my favourite bar in Belfast, great music and atmosphere . In the last few months, the Guinness has been way below par with staff struggling to pour a decent pint, emptying and scraping tops to give to customers. The staff turnover is amazing for some reason. Hopefully, my Guinness complaint is sorted pronto.

Night club
Thompsons Garage is a vibrant nightclub located in the heart of Belfast, operating since 1994. It offers nightly club events with guest DJs on Fridays, featuring a mix of house, electronic, and club anthems. The venue caters to a younger crowd but welcomes all ages with its energetic trance/techno music and spacious dance floor. With a prime location near City Hall, it's a popular spot for music enthusiasts and partygoers alike.
My observation is people just come here to drink, awesome atmosphere. Just avoid doing nasty stuff otherwise chances of fighting are higher. Each drink average 6-7 pounds, so 3 drinks per person would cost you under 30.
Chetan B — Google review
Thompsons Garage is hands down one of the best nightlife spots in Belfast. The energy is electric, the crowd is always buzzing, and the music never disappoints—from top local DJs to international acts that keep the dancefloor alive all night. The venue itself has a cool, underground vibe with a stylish layout and great sound system, and the staff are friendly and efficient even on busy nights. Whether you're into house, hip-hop, or a bit of everything, Thompsons always delivers an unforgettable night out.
Mia T — Google review
Jacket was stolen from here, and when it was mentioned to the security staff they herded me out rather than attempting to remedy the situation. I’d suggest avoiding this place. Full stop.
GstreakDOTco — Google review
It's most hated club yet popular among young kids but staff is super arrogant & cocky. They think they are doing favour by serving drinks for you. Toilets stink when entering the place. The backyard is the only best part of the spot to enjoy drink or 2 otherwise city offers a lot better options than this..Avoid 9/10
Chander S — Google review
So we were trying to spend our only night at this club by reference from the hotel staff we’re staying with. When we tried to enter the cocky and arrogant bouncer said do you have tickets. I did not have tickets but I bought tickets there and then. The cocky arrogant bald bouncer said you guys are denied entry!! I wouldn’t believe this that he said you shouldn’t have bought tickets. Belfast didn’t really paint a very progressive picture there! We were dressed suits and beyond this apparent high obnoxious bouncer! Painted a very bad image of Belfast night scene. Best described ‘Racist’ from my point. (FYI I do not drink!) definitely not recommended and never coming to Belfast ever again for night life- joke!!!! Dublin is so much better (progressive)!
Ankur S — Google review
I entered on Saturday by paying a 10 pound enterence fee. Lady in the door didnt even say welcome to me. When I tried to ask the enterence fee or 10 pm thing she just said pay 10 pounds. At least I entered without a problem. İnside the club there isnt any manager looking around or I didnt see them. Even ıf I just tried to chill and relax a person filmed me for a couple of seconds when I was dancing. Some people said absurd or meaningless things to me or they just stare me for nothing. To be honest I also drink a lot and lose my control sometimes however I didnt make anyone feel uncomfortable. İf I did anything wrong thats my bad. Maybe all nightclubs are like this. Most of the people want to make new friends and try to relax by drinking and dancing. I know its hard to deal with a lot of person and a queque in front of the bar with the loud music however I just wanted a greeting or at least smiling personal. Smile and good attitude stays in mind. Good things are music was always playing. DJ was doing his job. However they can play better musics. You can get fresh air in the backyard. Backyard decoration was good. If you go to Thompsons and dont lose your control with excessive drinking or unlawfull materials you can have a quite fun time.
Ceyhun B — Google review
Accidentally lost a phone in here, been trying since Friday to get a hold of management as the phones location is inside thompsons- no answer, after multiple phone calls (before 9pm but after 8, as staff are prepping at this time supposedly) but it just rings and rings. Countless emails, Facebook messages (which were read but still not replied to) a contact form via the website and still no communication from them. Let's also not forget a friend trying to go into thompsons to have a looom around for the phone, to which the door staff refused her entry unless she was a paying customer. Absolute nightmare to get your own property back. The owner of the phone is distraught as it has photos of her child, videos of first steps, important documents, access to child's school apps and so on. Yet thompsons are happy to keep posting and promoting their events while leaving the distraught mother on read, when all we ask of them is to check down the backs of chairs/ or allow us to come in and search ourselves. Just a bloody pain to be honest, decent place but you don't want to lose anything in there because good luck getting it back

The Perch Rooftop Bar is a relaxed and stylish destination located on the fifth floor of a converted Victorian warehouse in Belfast. It offers an industrial vibe with eclectic decor such as birdcages and window features. The bar is known for its signature cocktails, classic drinks, and delicious pizzas. With regular cocktail happy hours, live music performances, and a vibrant beer garden area, it's considered one of the best outdoor spaces in the city.
Couldn't recommend this place more, the staff were so friendly. Went for a girls bunch day and we will 100% making this a regular stop. The music was brilliant, quick service, your never sitting with a empty glass. The food was delicious! Cant say a bad thing about this place. Love love love!

Nice rooftop bar but the worst toilets I’ve ever seen, it looks like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks. There are glasses covered in mould and mess all over the floor. We told the bar staff multiple times but they didn’t do anything in the time we were there.

Very poor experience here and would not recommend. A group of 24 of us went here for a Hen party and we had booked it well in advance. When we arrived the place was empty with only two staff working. We had to wait over 45 mins for a drink and over an hour for food and we were the only customers in the place. The tables weren’t prepared, we weren’t provided with cutlery and had to ask numerous times. Most ppl started eating with their hands because it took so long for cutlery. We were provided with wooden disposable cutlery when it eventually arrived from somewhere. The food was lukewarm and inedible. No toilet paper too in any of the female stalls.

Went here for the first time last night, what can I say…. Shocking service, there was no system for taking orders at the bar meaning others were being served ahead. After 25 minutes at the bar waiting I finally got my mojito. Best way to describe it was a lime cordial with a bit of chopped up mint in it. Not worth the wait and not worth the price. Won’t be back.

From the beginning this experience was average. We arrived, got our table and to be fair to the waitress (never got her name) the woman from Scotland. She looked after us fairly well, let us substitute the small selection of drinks and take Guinness. We had ordered 2 fish and 4 meats. Food came 15 minutes before the bottomless brunch ended. Meal seemed okay, we ate anyway. About 15 minutes after one of our group had started to feel sick, attempted to be sick nothing came up. When back at the table same feeling again! Finally managed to vomit and after vomited proceeded to say they could not stand nor see! Managed to make it back to the hotel and for the next hour proceeded to vomit the lining of their stomach out. Not able to sit stand or move party was immobile and very sick. I then rang the establishment and they accused us of Leaving our drinks! When at this place there was always at least 2 people at the table. I suggested it may have been a staff member or some sort of food poisoning and staff member on the phone told me food poisoning would not have taken affect yet and they are not held responsible! Overall this experience was very very shocking. Staff were nothing to complain about, I appreciate there help. Apart from the male that answered the mobile. Atmosphere was great. Food and drink - if I could give a minus I would! This is a disgrace! A member of our party was bed bound for the rest of the night due to this and the employment had the audacity to accuse us of leaving drinks unattended! Will not be back to this establishment, I do not recommend anyone else to attend!
Addicting S — Google review
Nice bar area, lovely staff, atmosphere was nice, food was class. I just can't give 5 stars because of the dirty outside area. The tables were covered in bird droppings and the seat covers could do with a wipe.
Paul C — Google review
Wouldn't visit here again. We requested our drinks from the cocktail menu. The person who was serving us then proceeded to walk around the bar several times but not actually doing anything. Eventually, almost 15/20 minutes later, after one failed attempt, our drinks were served. A sorry for your wait was given. We located a table and took a sip of the drink. Straight away it was obvious it wasn't what we'd ordered. We approached a person behind the bar, potentially the supervisor/manager, who said he'd deal with it but was busy right now. 10 minutes later he came back with the correct drinks. He did apologise. It's a shame because the place is quite nice with the roof terrace. It would have been a one star review had the drinks not been sorted and the experience was enough to mean we'd not visit again.
Martin C — Google review
First look online this place looks brillaint. The decor is beautiful and matches the photos online although when I was told via the website I had to book a table online I would be given my deposit money back (which I was not) It claimed at the end you would receive your money back off my bill so I was assuming it was a bar tab situation considering I had to set down the deposit. When we arrived no one was there to actually seat us we had to attend to the bar and ask after waiting a long while behind people at the bar and waiting at the “check in desk”. It was bar service and not a tab which personally confused me considering how my deposit was holding a “table” on the rooftop I never received, we had to wait indoors until a table was free outside and find it ourselves. The drinks were lovely made perfectly although outside the music from indoors was overpowering it was genuinely hard to hold a conversation with my peer after near enough every sentence we were asking each other what we said as it was too loud to hear each other. It’s nice you can smoke out on the rooftop and drink which in many places now it’s not aloud so it is great that you can although i wouldn’t return due to deposit not being returned for a table we didn’t receive and not being able to hear each other.

Absolutely, fantastic. We walked down at 11 AM just to see where it was.As we were booked in for the comedy show said we would go in for one and we did not leave until 12 o'clock that night. Fantastic staff great atmosphere. The food is to die for and one of the best. Comedy shows in Ireland and a massive selection of beers, stouts and laggers you would definitely have enough to choose from. could not recommend this venue enough pool. Hall. Upstairs board games, downstairs. Lots to do will definitely be back. Cannot wait.

Had a great time last night for our society pool night event. Lavery's has always been one of the best bars in my opinion for a chill and social atmosphere when doing events. The pool tables are nice and there were enough for more than 40 people. Booked it online and that was pretty easy to do. The service by the staffs were amazing to, Pearce (apologies i dont know how to spell their name) was such an amazing person. They listened to what we needed for the night and was very considerate. Drinks were nice, a lot of people got drinks over pool. If you want a good night out with some pool and drinks, go here with friends ! Thanks Pearce you were amazing !

We went here on a Tuesday night after another restaurant down the road didn't have any tables available and we're glad we did. Great down to earth Northern Irish atmosphere with good food. Our server was friendly and the food was excellent. Got exactly what we wanted and it tasted delicious. Our table wasn't cleaned properly and I ended up with gravy on my arm and I had to remind them to add our two drinks to our bill after we got it. These two little things are not a big deal though. Great experience and would go back anytime 👍

My team at work has recently booked Lavery's for two separate social events, and the service was brilliant at both. We reserved the back terrace, which was decorated with string lights, and part of the pool room. On the first occasion we ordered finger food platters, and the second we went for the buffet menu- the food was good both times, and meant that people could serve themselves and move around, rather than a sit-down dinner vibe. The Lavery's team were so easy to work with, we'll definitely consider coming back for another social!

We went to the top floor to the pool room. There was a good number of people in and the atmosphere was lively. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side but probably in line with other venues in Belfast. We went into the bottom bar it was really nice and has been completed renovated

Quite honestly one of the most fun places I have ever visited. We were there on a Saturday afternoon for the live music in the rear room and after hovering a while managed to get a seat. The place was absolutely bouncing. The atmosphere was crazy. Everyone was singing and dancing. Extremely busy so a little difficult to get to and from the bar but don't let that put you off. Drinks standard prices for the area. Absolutely loved it! (I'd have posted a video however they all have my dreadful singing in the background 😅)

Alibi is a stylish and sophisticated three-floor venue located in the Queens Quarter of Belfast. During the day, it offers a selection of cocktails, spirits, and light bites on the ground floor, while at night, the upper floor transforms into a vibrant nightclub. The venue boasts a niche decor that exudes a blend of country and city chic, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a New York City gentlemen's club.
Amazing music and one of the few places with reasonable prices left on a Friday, door staff used to have a bad rep but they now have women on the door and a lot more relaxed staff Would recommend for a Friday, especially for a chill spot before it picks up again
Sasha H — Google review
I attended the New Year’s Eve party at Alibi Club on December 31st, and overall, it was an average experience. The venue itself has a stylish and modern vibe, which was appealing, and the decorations for the occasion added a festive touch. The music selection was decent, with a mix of popular tracks and party anthems. However, the DJ transitions felt a bit off at times, which affected the flow of the night. The crowd was lively, but the space felt overcrowded, making it challenging to move around comfortably. In terms of service, the bar staff were friendly, but the wait times for drinks were noticeably long, likely due to the high volume of guests. The drink prices were reasonable for a New Year’s event, but the variety of options was somewhat limited.

I was spiked here by a bartender on Halloween in 2022 and ended up in hospital as a result. Nothing was done by staff to help me and I was left outside in the early hours of the morning. I would advise people to be careful and avoid this nightclub especially on busy nights when spiking is easier to get away with!

Good venue, music was very RNB. Staff were very helpful and the bouncers where actually great crack! Even gave me a piece of gum when noone else in the place seemed to have any. I was overcharged for some mixers though but when I contacted them to check what I was charged for they informed me of their mistake and refunded me and apologised which was nice. Atmosphere was great but not sure if that's because it was NYE or if it's always like that. Had a great fire show aswell for NYE which was nice.

False advertising. There’s barely any people in the club and the guy who took the entry fee did not let the people know. It’s so deserted and no one should pay their hard earned money to be in a club that no one is willing to dance nor even come in. They are very well known for only letting ‘attractive’ people come in. Everyone that came in left or spoke about getting a refund. Also, the manager was rude.

Good cozy experience besides the lazy bar manager drinking in the bar ,and no one picking up the glasses from the table. We asked for a grapefruit gin that was clearly labelled on the shelf to then be told there was none, retrain your bar staff.

Our experience at Tetto deserves more than 5 stars. We had such a wonderful and warm welcome. The atmosphere is so relaxing with wonderful colours overall. Our waitress Chloe F was such a gem. I had the angioletti cider as per her recommendation and just whao, lets just say I have a new favourite. We had the Nduja and chorizo pizza, so delicious, base thin and crunchy. For dessert again as per recommendation we had the tiramisu, another whao. Overall we really had a memorable time at Tetto. We highly recommend and will definitely be back when visiting Belfast again.

Honestly, the Pizza was very mediocre with tomato sauce that tasted like the kind of sauce you'd get with speghetti hoops out of a tin, and was somehow both raw on top and charred on bottom, and chewy as leather at a premium price. I wouldn't go back.

Muriel's Cafe Bar is a trendy and eclectic gathering place located in the heart of Belfast. The bar offers a unique experience with its funky decor, including mismatched vintage furniture, mysterious birdcages, and whimsical chandeliers. Once a former brothel run by a local prostitute named Muriel, the bar still exudes provocative glamour with risque decor such as lingerie hanging on a make-shift washing line and vintage glamour model photos adorning the walls.
An absolute gem of a place . We did an impromptu trip up from Dublin to see a band we love and saw last night at the Olympia, remembered here from a previous visit and so pleased we did. Amazing decor, fantastic cocktails - although don't see why you have loads staff swanning about and not taking drinks orders, that's annoying. Food was fine, bit cool, tasty. But for drinks and atmosphere and general all round fabulousness, this can't be beaten.

Indoor/ outdoor seating. It's on a road, so not as calming as the main square. The inside is lovely. There's facilities but no toilet seats. The staff are really lovely and welcoming and the menu is vaste, personally as a vegetarian I love the blue cheese sauce with grilled eggs and vegetables, for meat eater there is a piggy platter. Which they also make as a sharer. There's also some ice creams and desserts on order the fruit cheese cakes looks amazing. And plenty of great sights on the road that Marie's is based on, worth a visit.

Half a cocktail, if it wasn't expensive enough for a cocktail the thing wasn't even full....the least that you could expect. I queried it with the bargirl who said "it's a bigger than usual glass" expertly delivered with the most unfriendly outlook I've seen in quite a while..... I won't be returning and I couldn't recommend this place to anyone...

Love love love the decor upstairs! Not much seating but just a great cosy little spot. Dark and moody eclectic bar. Nightmare lifting a tray of cocktails upstairs mind you. Not sure if there’s toilets downstairs but doubtful. Don’t know how much the cocktails are as there was just a list of names but they were drunk anyway!

The Bar itself is a 1920s style cocktail lounge and feels like a nice place to escape the world, some of the touches feel a little unnecessary like the underwear hanging from the ceiling but I found the upstairs very snug. Food is from the next door restaurant, American style, which comes to you like takeaway orders. I liked the casual aspect but again, slightly at odds with the decor. Overall a nice place to hide away from the rain and casual enough to use it as a first date spot.

My sister and I popped into 'The National' for a late breakfast before heading to Belfast Castle. We very much enjoyed our refreshing strawberry lemonades and the bunch baps we had were delicious. The server we had was friendly and efficient and they didn't mind when we wanted to move to the Garden as it was such a sunny day. The inside is decorated well, but the garden was lovely to sit in and enjoy our food. I would definitely come back as I very much enjoyed my time there. Might pop in later for a drink to see what it's like in the evening.

After an early morning arrival in Belfast for an evening work event, I headed to The National for brunch and to catch up on some work, and I'm so glad I did. Their Bacon Naan, with chilli fried eggs and tomato chutney was outstanding! All the other dishes I saw coming out from the kitchen also looked dynamite - wish I had been staying in Belfast for longer to try more. Great flat white coffees as well, and the service was top notch - friendly, welcoming and always on hand to keep water topped up or grab you any other drinks. A must visits for brunch or lunch in Belfast - I'll definitely be back!

Kelly's Cellars is a historic pub in Belfast, dating back to 1720. It holds a significant place in Irish history as it was a meeting place for the United Irishmen during the 1798 rebellion. The pub has retained its traditional charm with small tables and stools, worn bar, and bric-a-brac hanging from the vaulted ceiling. Visitors can enjoy traditional music by an open fire on select evenings or relax in the large covered street beer garden.
Omg. This was such a lovely place to visit. Wish I could have stayed longer. The place has been here since 1720. That is a lot of stores being told and memories being shared between people. Friendly attentive service that made sure everyone was hydrated throughout the evening. Also live music that was really good. What a Great pub. If in Belfast - this is a MUST VISIT!

We initially went to the pub second but in order to get food you need to go upstairs. I had the spicy chicken burger and thought it was pretty good. Juicy chicken breast with fries. Superb, traditional and bustling pub with music downstairs, lovely restaurant upstairs. Had the Irish stew, really decent and hearty although portion not massive for the money but you pay for the central location and with a side or starter would have been fine. Ordered and had the food in less than 5mins as they have it on the go. Lots on the menu, was served by the lovely Roisin who was so friendly and helpful. It was so good I came back the next day as she'd recommended the ham and champ but sadly missed out as didn't realise they close the kitchen just after 8. I gather the pub is the oldest in town, it's got bags of character and was the prettiest I visited in Belfast.

Lovely little upstairs restaurant to the main pub down below. It was quiet and had traditoinal music on while we ate. Fish and chips were nice and crunchy with thin batter and tender fish, and the pour of Guinness was excellent

Really really nice pub, it's over 300 years old so when you step inside it has a very special atmosphere, the staff are very friendly, the bar area was fairly busy but we got drinks quickly, the bar area tends not to get busy with people having around as there isn't much room, most people stand outside in the beer garden, over all I would recommend a visit if you're out and about, we didn't have food so can't comment ⭐⭐⭐

Angel And Two Bibles is a hidden speakeasy cocktail bar in Belfast, known for its cozy atmosphere and quirky decor. Guests can enjoy cocktails by the fire or on the heated outdoor terrace, which is covered for rainy days. While some drinks may be pricey, they are described as flashy and of high quality. The staff is attentive and friendly, providing great service to both small and large groups. The bar's extensive cocktail menu offers affordable options with generous amounts of liquor.
If you love intimate spaces, and excellent craft cocktails this is the place for you. You could stay here forever. They have the new and the old. Their own recipes from their mixologist and twist on old classics. They have some thing for everyone with every spirit that you can imagine. The drinks are inventive and delicious. The presentation is phenomenal. You must have a reservation if you expect to spend a decent amount of time and they put limits on the tables as well. They do have an outdoor space for those of you who prefer it.

This needs to be in the global top 500. Now. We arrived as a walk in (unadviseable) on Sat night and although they were full, said to check their website for a later booking. When we got back, they said our table wasn’t ready so we can sit beside the bar for a bit. We ordered a round and got given an extra freebie as an apology for the table not being ready. The menu is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen. The Old vs New Testament idea is brilliant and a great way to divide the classics (done super well) and the signatures. The menu does a really good job of describing the drinks and I wish we could’ve stayed for more! Again, should win G500 best bar menu (in my humble opinion). Little personal note from working in a similar bar - this is everything done right. Bar staff moving with no wasted steps when needed, efficient in floor processes. Just a fantastic venue that I wish I could afford more visits to. Staff were absolutely amazing and super helpful. When I’m back in NI, I’ll certainly be making a special visit.

Super cool spot for a unique cocktail. Entrance is hidden in an alley just like all good speakeasies. Fantastic and unique ambience, cute little rooftop terrace, all the vibes are vibing. They don’t serve food but that’s because cocktails are the stars of the show!

Cool little speakeasy down a side street in Belfast. They keep the inside well lit which I actually really like and was different from most cocktail bars I’ve been to. Interesting selection of drinks and also a good mocktail list if you’re not drinking. Drinks are well balanced. They have “Old Testament” which are classic cocktails and “New Testament” which are their signature cocktails. We sat on the roof terrace which was cost and had heaters.

we went on valentines, so it was an odd menu and i’ve never tasted a worse alcoholic beverage in my life. fairly sure it’s opinion based, the staff were kind and the outside area was beautiful, it’s a shame everyone out there was not enjoying their expensive drinks.

Cosy little cocktail bar that we came across in Belfast city. The cocktails were really good and the staff were so friendly. We didn’t get to stay around for long as we had other plans but would definitely come back next time. It’s a nice speakeasy cocktail bar and has an extensive cocktail menu too. Went here on pride weekend for a friend's birthday, during the hip-hop night, and we had an absolute blast. Loved the expansive dance floor and how everyone was having fun! Our group had no issues with the doormen as I see is a reccuring theme, so maybe they have solved that issue. The drinks were expensive but they were good! I really enjoyed it here!

Absolutely shocking! Went for a friends birthday around 10pm, all my friends had got in after presenting ID as did me and my sister, my boyfriend who was behind us in Que got turned away after he had his hood up while in Que as it was slightly raining and of course cold, the bouncer said to take down his hood and he obliged , soon after he was told he wasn’t aloud in due to his hood being up! The bouncer was middle aged with glasses couldn’t give me a reason why he wasn’t aloud in just said sometimes he has to make calls the other bouncer with curly hair extremely rude, he said me and my sister had to go pay or we would be kicked out of Que, so we did, £20 wasted after my boyfriend and my sisters boyfriend were turned away under no pretence. Ollie’s do better this is absolutely disgusting and ruined our night I understand bouncers have a call to make but under this circumstance there was no reason, the bouncer with the curly hair could of at least had the decency to let me and my sister know they weren’t getting in instead of forcing us to pay, ridiculous!
Olivia K — Google review
Music is always 10/10,, can’t say the same about the bouncers on the other hand. I’m absolutely appalled about the way they spoke to me. I got put out of the smoking area by force after being nothing but understanding to the bouncer (Brown curly hair) He had ZERO reason who put his hands on me as if I was some sort of threat. Absolutely disgusting , if you want to work in a professional environment you should be able to hold yourself to that manner.
Deaglan K — Google review
Absolutely a disgrace went last night and 4 of us got in waiting on my friend coming for her 21st we had vip so we had to leave due to them not getting in. What a horrible person you have working for you!!! Our friends came in two separate taxis the first to arrive were about to get in when a baldy arrogant chubby bouncer came over and said no not tonight and when asked why he ignored. He is a disgrace to your club he did this based on race which is an absolute disgrace, as 2 of them are not from here.Shame on him….. and on yourselves allowing this to happen!
Colleen W — Google review
One star is too good for this place, however it was the only option. Paid 250 pounds for a table which was a rip off to begin with for half of our table to be turned away for wearing black cargo trousers when 70% of the male population in the venue were wearing the same or similar. Left a friend in tears when out trying to celebrate her 21st birthday. Tried to debate this with management and bouncer staff who suggested going to Tesco at 11pm on a Saturday evening to get a change of clothes. Absolute disgrace will never be back.
Abbi P — Google review
Bouncers are very aggressive especially me being pregnant i basically got spat in my face by the head bouncer who is bald and trying to speak to the staff was impossible there was so reasoning so i had to leave on my friends birthday which being heavily pregnant trying to go out on a night out is a task in itself but being spoke to like that when he visibly knew my situation is a disgrace. I used to go on and off but I will not be back as that establishment has fallen to pieces. I would not even rate this place a 1.

Today, it offers self-guided tours enhanced by audio guides and holograms, allowing guests to wander through its eerie tunnels, compact cells, and even a haunting graveyard.
One of the highlights of our visit to Belfast. We paid extra for the guided tour which was money well spent as our guide was entertaining, informative and brought the whole thing to life. Not to be missed.

Very pleasantly surprised. A very informative look at life in the prison and a fairly complete history. The condemned cell and the gallows were very thought provoking. Value for money, particularly as there's free parking on site as well as a fully licenced bar in one of the wings!

A fantastic restoration and story of a Gaol throughout Belfast's last hundred years plus. Following a well planned trail you get stories, an idea of life for a variety of prisoners, the punishments, the stories and the hardships. The building itself is a stark reminder of Victorian views of punishment, separation in cells, menial work, cleanliness, religious overlay and solid structural integrity. The cafe in the former kitchens is great the food was lovely and value for money. Service was really friendly.
Andrea C — Google review
Wow! You will not regret coming here! Super kind staff and super interesting to learn about the history behind these walls. I met two ladies who told me that their father was incarcerated here when it still held prisoners!

What a great experience. Really well done being interactive and thoughtful with a good mix of technology integrated into the actual spaces. Although the entire space is not accessible to you, they make good use of the example spaces they created. You could spend a lot of time here and have different experiences in each section you go into. Quite emotionally moving too. Don't forget to check out the cafe.

A victorian Gaol I hear you say, Crumlin Gail takes you back in time and through the history of The Troubles. An interesting insight you won't find anywhere else and a well preserved piece of history. Worth a visit to the hangmans noose which at the end of the tour makes you think of those who having committed those heanous crimes came to an end.
Nicholas S — Google review
It would have been five stars if the cafe had been open! We spent about 4 hours at the Gaol and had lunch at the distillery next door. The Gaol is definitely worth a visit, to learn about the Victorian view of appropriate penal conditions for men women and children, as well as about the imprisonment of people during the Troubles. The exhibits are well laid out but the individual stories, set in different cells by video, tended to overlap with those in adjacent cells. The video would benefit enormously from subtitles. Nevertheless the overall impression was vivid and authentic.

While visiting Belfast, came over to City Hall. History and Significance Birth of a City Symbol: The City Hall was commissioned after Queen Victoria granted Belfast official city status in 1888, recognizing its massive industrial expansion in shipbuilding, linen, and engineering. A grand civic building was deemed necessary to reflect this elevated status. The Titanic Connection: The building has a strong link to the RMS Titanic. Lord Mayor William Pirrie, who was Lord Mayor just before construction, was also the managing director of the Harland and Wolff shipyard where the Titanic was built. He is credited with the idea for both grand projects. Many of his skilled shipyard workers were involved in the intricate fit-out of the City Hall's interiors, providing an insight into the luxurious finish of the Titanic's lounges and suites, as the carving and paneling are very similar. Construction and Style: Designed by architect Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas in the Baroque Revival style, the building was constructed using Portland stone and opened its doors in 1906. The cost was a significant £369,000, funded largely by the profits of Belfast's municipal gasworks. Wartime Resilience: During World War II, the City Hall served as a crucial center for civil defense and stood firm during the Belfast Blitz in 1941, although the roof above the Banqueting Hall was destroyed and later rebuilt. Location: It stands on the site of the former White Linen Hall, which was the heart of the city's once-thriving international linen industry. Architectural and Unique Features The Dome: The central feature of the skyline is the distinctive 173-foot copper dome. Originally bright copper, it has oxidized over the years to its recognizable green patina. Opulent Interiors: The interior is equally grand, featuring a stunning array of marbles (including Carrara, Pavonazzo, and Brescia), sweeping marble staircases, mosaic tiling, and the Rotunda, which leads the eye up to the dome. The Council Chamber is paneled in Irish oak. Stained Glass Windows: The hall is home to a magnificent collection of stained glass windows, which are visual narratives of the city's past, depicting monarchs, coats of arms of the provinces of Ireland, and commemorating significant events like the 36th (Ulster) Division. The Coat of Arms: The city's motto, "Pro tanto quid retribuamus" (What shall we give back in return for so much?), is found on the coat of arms. The crest features symbols like the seahorse and ship, signifying Belfast's maritime importance, and the bell, which is a play on the first syllable of the city's name (Belfast).

Belfast City Hall, a magnificent civic building in the heart of Belfast, Northern Ireland, is a symbol of the city's rich history and prosperity. Completed in 1906, it was built to commemorate Queen Victoria granting Belfast city status in 1888. Designed by Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas, the building is a stunning example of Baroque Revival architecture. Its most prominent features are the elegant green copper dome and the white Portland stone facade. The interior is equally impressive, with intricate marble staircases, mosaic floors, and stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the city's past. The City Hall's grounds are a public park and home to several notable memorials, including the Titanic Memorial Garden, dedicated to the victims of the famous shipwreck. Historically, the building has served as a center for civic life and a focal point during significant events, including World War II and the Troubles. Today, Belfast City Hall remains the seat of the Belfast City Council and a major tourist attraction. Visitors can explore a self-guided exhibition on the city's history or take a guided tour to see the grand interiors, including the Council Chamber and the Rotunda. The City Hall stands as a testament to Belfast's industrial heritage and a living part of its modern identity, welcoming visitors and locals alike to its historic grounds.
Nimesh D — Google review
Belfast City Hall is a magnificent Baroque Revival building completed in 1906, serving as the seat of Belfast City Council. It's a grand architectural statement reflecting Belfast's industrial prosperity at the turn of the 20th century. There are guided tours offer an "extraordinary glimpse" into areas not usually accessible to the public, including the Italian and Greek marble-clad Rotunda, the Irish-oak paneled Council Chamber (where you can sit in the Lord Mayor's throne!), and the Robing Room with its civic regalia. After your tour, you can visit a unique exhibition across 16 rooms that explores the history of Belfast. The surrounding gardens are popular and feature the Titanic Memorial Garden, commemorating those who died on the ship, with a plaque listing all 1,512 names. Overall it's a top choice for visitors to Belfast, offering a blend of impressive architecture, rich history, and insights into the city's civic life.

An absolutely stunning building — both inside and out! Belfast City Hall is a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. The architecture is grand and elegant, with beautifully maintained grounds perfect for a stroll or a sit-down on a sunny day. The free public tours are a highlight — informative, engaging, and a great way to learn about Belfast’s political and social history. The interior is just as impressive, with ornate ceilings, marble staircases, and fascinating exhibits. A true gem in the heart of the city!

Everything you’d want from a botanical garden I guess. Nice sized park, free to enter and has a good mix of things to see between the more modern climate controlled greenhouse and the larger and more traditional greenhouse. A group of us wandered around for a while early on a Sunday to pass some time before lunch and all seemed to like it.

Lovely garden in the middle of a busy area. There are so many different things inside the garden premises. There Ulster museum (admission free) showcases the history of the Northern Ireland. There is also a greenhouse which has lots of different variety of plants and another building with tropical plants. You can find all of them in Google Maps if you explore inside the park area. The Queen’s University has its physical education center inside the park, which has parking space adjacent to it. There are cafes and restaurants too, one inside the museum, and few mobile trucks. There are toilets in the park. The park is well maintained. It has the most beautiful trees. There are beautiful flower beds in the spring next to the greenhouse, and benches are available next to the flowerbeds so that you can sit and admire the beauty of the flowers. There’s also a rose garden which is now in its full bloom (May-June). A Japanese garden is hidden in the middle of the park. It’s a little underrated, but very calm and peaceful. This park is next to my workplace and I feel very lucky and grateful about its location. Just be mindful about the opening times. They close the gate at different times during the year. But there are always notice boards at the gates (all the gates) mentioning when each gate will be closed.

My wife’s meal was lovely, however I ordered the hand made chicken burger, it’s was very dry indeed; to be honest I did eat the majority of the chicken as it was our wedding anniversary and didn’t want to complain at the time as didn’t want to disturbed our meal as sending it back I would have probably involved my wife eating her meal on her own whilst mine was sent back, informed the very pleasant waitress who informed me if I had said something earlier they could have done something about it. I would have liked some sort or discount but hay ho !

The Morning Star Bar & Restaurant is a charming 19th-century alehouse tucked away in Belfast's city center. This historic establishment, dating back to at least 1810, features a traditional bar with an original mahogany counter and terrazzo floor. Upstairs, the restaurant offers an eclectic menu curated by owner Corrine McAlister, including unique dishes like kangaroo and crocodile steaks alongside more traditional fare.
Recommended to us by locals for its quality beef offering and value. We were impressed by the number of awards received too. Our meals were delicious. The sharing t-bone platter was a delight, thoroughly enjoyable. Children's size joint of the day is a winner too.

Great restaurant and pub in the center of Belfast. The service from the bartender upstairs was polite and very professional throughout our visit. The food was done to perfection. Absolutely no complaints. Love visiting this place for lunch when im over.

Upstairs from the main bar is a very well decorated restaurant. The servers are very polite and attentive. We had the beef roast and shared some scallops and both were delicious. Good portion sizes. Would reccomend

Great atmosphere and delicious food in a lovely setting. Big shoutout to Adam, who did an absolutely stellar job — friendly, attentive, and really lifted the whole experience. Thanks also to Lisa, who clearly wasn’t having the best day but still gave solid service and kept things running smoothly. Credit where it’s due! All up, a good spot with quality food and genuine service — worth a visit if you’re in Derry.

Braised beef cheek was probably the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time, meal was faultless, staff lovely. Guinness excellent (not a short pour, I took a sip!) I went late on a Sunday night so it was quieter. Absolute gem of a place, will be back.

Quite a disappointment. We ordered a lot of meat, but about half of it came burnt. The beef cheek was delicious, and one of the fillet steaks was good. However, the sirloin steak, which we asked for medium, was very well done — probably because it was thin and served on a hot skillet, so it kept cooking on the way. The lamb chops were completely burnt. At the beginning, we asked for the dessert menu but were told it would be offered at the end of the meal. In the end, no one brought it — though by that point, we didn’t really want it anymore.

The atmosphere was really lovely and nostalgic, the staff were super friendly and accommodating and the food was absolutely delicious plus I reccomend a maiden mule as a drink, one of the nicest drinks I’ve ever had!

McHughs Bar & Restaurant is a historic Georgian hostelry that has been standing since 1711 in Queens Square, Belfast. The building has undergone extensive renovations while preserving its original features such as fireplaces and an eighteenth-century spiral staircase leading to a private dining room. The bar exudes a traditional atmosphere with exposed brick walls and dark wooden fixtures, offering a cozy setting for patrons to enjoy live traditional music and Titanic-related memorabilia.
Was looking for a good Sunday lunch in Belfast and saw a review for McHughs and thought we would try it. We didn’t have a booking and they managed to fit us in. The Sunday beef roast was fantastic alongside the Guinness. Highly recommended and will visit again when back in the city

Been there at the Northern Ireland open breaks. Fish and chips went to table fast and it was hot and fresh. Fish was crispy outside and flaky inside. Very good and good salt too. Chips are pretty much same than everywhere in Belfast. Tangy malt vinegar on top and mushy peas alongside made this meal better than mediocre. Service is very friendly, fast and efficient. Nothing to complain. A well poured Guinness with food was spot on.

The Garrick is a Victorian pub in Belfast with a smart, panelled, and tiled interior. It has earned awards for its ornate design and offers a great selection of 50 beers and ciders, including unique craft beers not found elsewhere in the city. The pub serves delicious bar food from lunchtime to 8pm and hosts traditional music sessions on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
One of the best pubs and restaurants in the city of Belfast. When someone told me about how delicious The Garrick’s food is, I doubted. Because, as a Nigerian, I’m used to our delicious African meals. You know, the pepper, fresh vegetables, etc. Well, as someone who loves to try new things, I decided to buy one of their food and man, it was deliciously delicious 😋. And the pub? Well, I don’t drink but I love way the customer service is top notch — they’re friendly and knowledgeable. One thing I observed as well is that people, the customers, who visit the pub or bar are well mannered and nice people. Anyways, is this a restaurant I recommend? Yes! I’ll be buying again from them. I hope you found this helpful? If you do, kindly give me a thumbs up and follow me for more reviews as I journey across this earth (and space) 😀

My son and I were in the area because we were going to see HAWKWIND in the Mandela Hall. It was raining fairly heavily so we quickly looked around for somewhere to eat and found TOWN SQUARE. We were not disappointed. We were there at 5pm so it wasn't full but I've no doubt on a Friday or Saturday it most certainly would be. My son had the Buffalo Stack and I had the KFC Burger both were lovely. The burger came with KIMCHI which I've never had and it was great. We washed both meals down with half pints of Guinness, also very nice. The service was friendly and efficient and the music was good. Would definitely be back.

Named after the late socialist poet John Hewitt, The John Hewitt is a traditional pub in Belfast that offers a selection of mainly bottled Irish beers from various breweries. The pub features an old-world ambiance with dark wood and stained glass decor, and it is known for its reliable gastropub fare. In addition to serving as a haven for fine beers and dependable pub grub, the establishment also supports local artists by displaying their art for sale on the walls.

This pub makes you feel you are at your local. There is a great atmosphere with a selection of music but it is the nights when they offer traditional sessions that it feels the most welcoming. Visited with a collegue for a spot of lunch. We both had the chicken parm burger with parmesan and garlic fries. Our server kindly pointed out the lunch specials and these two together normally cost £19 but with the lunch deal only cost £12. We ordered and paid up front at the bar and our food came out shortly after. It was delicious. Great portions and just tasted so fresh. The basil pesto on the burger was amazing 👏 Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu particularly the lasagne bites. It was early on in the day about 12ish and the pub was nice and quiet with a few lunch time pinters beginning to congregate as we were leaving. Drinks selection was good with lots of different beers etc to try but alas i stuck to pepsi. Franky's Lasagneria at the John Hewitt - superb! #lasagneria #thejohnhewitt #belfast #belfastfood

Great place for any size of function and I have done a few over the years here. It’s clean friendly and the food is nice. There are 3 rooms which are used every weekday and weekends, it’s a place that have a good hardcore clientele and it’s very well run. Door staff are friendly without the feeling of being in your face. It is a safe friendly atmosphere and a must for any sports fan to enjoy the large screens while having a pint of your favourite tipple. My one gripe is if your working there they charge for a coffee, kinda says how tight they are. Most places even offer food never mind a coffee lol

“Just visiting” 😆 first drink in Belfast, fantastic service and beautiful history. Amazing to learn of the pre-colonial history of the passages.

The bar is in a great setting with lovely music that created a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately our group didn’t have the best experience with some of the service we had. We experienced some staff members being quite abrupt and one female bar tender in particular snapped at a member in our group unfairly. There was also a long enough wait to be served and lots of glasses etc stacked on the bar so I’m presuming this was due to the staff being a bit stressed/over-worked. It is a pity though as it slightly tainted our experience here.

Nice little pub hidden in the alleyways near the city centre. There are two pubs joined together with separate names and online a bit of history about the place. The venue is slightly cold owing to air conditioning but plenty of seating, good range of drinks and food options. Didn't eat so only rating the drink selection Staff were busy but friendly

A beautiful hidden gem that, alongside Henry's bar, decorates Joy's Entry seasonally and (at the time of this review) playing tasteful Christmas tunes that are difficult not to sing along to. Spacious outside covered area just sets this place off. More effective patio heaters rather than the current decorative ones would be welcome.

Then one member of staff started giving off about under paid for doing his job and I was to blame and he was going to put me out of the bar. To be honest I will never be back in there

Called in for lunch and weren't disappointed. My wife had the Chicken Burger and I had the Fish & Chips. I think you can always tell how good a place is by the fish and chips and it was superb. The mushy peas were done with spring onions which was a nice take on the usual. We just had cappuccinos to warm ourselves up. I would review the idea of putting a paper sheet under the food. It adds nothing to the experience because you are constantly trying to avoid eating it with each mouthful. Staff were really friendly. Heartily recommended.

I'm always surprised when I come here that it isn't busier. I remember it in its original form, this is a total renovation. Actually uses the outside area, one of the Historic Entries, very well. The boss liked the gin list, and I really enjoyed a couple of pints of Staropramen. Nice comfortable surroundings. If you are looking for a quick quiet pint this is the place. The only drawback is the three flights of stairs up to the men's toilets!

Whites Tavern, also known as Whites Tavern & The Oyster Rooms, is a historic 17th-century pub located in Belfast. It holds the distinction of being the oldest tavern in the city, with a rich history dating back to 1630. Following a recent renovation, this cultural landmark has been revitalized and now attracts both locals and tourists who come to enjoy perfectly poured Guinness and freshly caught seafood.
Place got busy and was shorthanded. Good beer selection. Menu was really good especially the burger. I can see that this place can’t get busy. It would appear that there is the old pub, the beer hall, and an outdoor area of some sort.

Called in for a beer and a bite after arriving in town and stayed for a couple of hours. The beers were good and the 3 for £16 small plates that we had really hit the spot. We had cod bites, chicken strips and caesar fries and all were delicious. We also returned for a beer and a burger a couple of days later before heading to the airport. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Richard W — Google review
Found the place by chance and given the reputation of a 1630 pub we decided to make the experience ours. Unfortunately the Stew was dry and cold, just a few meat pieces, vegetables bland and tasteless, the steak sambo’s meat (sandwich) was a little hard to take a clean bite without using the knife and no salt, but the chips were incredible! our server was attentive and friendly, a coke (mini with a tag of a two liter bottle) a Guinness beer for the total of £60 it’s to expect a lot more.

Went here the first day we were at Belfast recommended by our hotel hostess. The place is small with a very lively atmosphere, we had to wait for a while to get seats but it was well worth it. The food is AMAZING. It kind of ruined it for us because even though the food at other places was good, none came even close to this place :) My sister had the traditional Irish Stew that we tried elsewhere and none came close to it. The meat just melts in your mouth and it is an explosion of flavors. I had the braised beef cheek and it was DELICIOUS. The staff is super kind (like all the wonderful Irish people) even though they were super busy. It is a tavern but is family friendly. It was a great start for our trip. Just go, you won’t be disappointed.

Pub
Sunflower Public House is a renovated pub with a beer garden featuring a pizza oven and a well-stocked bar offering an array of regional and international beers. Located just minutes away from the city center, it's easily accessible for visitors. The pub retains its heritage with the iconic security cage at the front door, reminiscent of Belfast's past.
The Sunflower Public House is a distinctive and much-loved pub located on Union Street, just behind Belfast Central Library and near the University of Ulster. It's known for its authentic character and a slightly alternative vibe, standing out from more commercial establishments. One of its most recognizable features is the security cage on its front door, a relic from 1980s Belfast that has been intentionally preserved as part of the city's social history, now serving as a unique talking point and a symbol of resilience. Music is central to the Sunflower's identity. It regularly hosts traditional, Appalachian, and Gypsy Swing sessions, as well as folk and bluegrass. The pub prides itself on offering a wide selection of craft beers, including local Northern Irish brews. The Sunflower is widely known as a very dog-friendly pub, welcoming well-behaved dogs both inside and in its beer garden, often providing water bowls and treats. This has made it a favorite among dog owners. The Sunflower Public House is considered a "back to basics" pub, free of gimmicks, and celebrated for its genuine character, excellent music scene, good beer selection, and welcoming atmosphere, making it a highly recommended spot for those seeking an authentic Belfast pub experience.

The Sunflower has much to offer. A nice selection of craft beers on tap. I believe nightly music. Friendly folks behind the bar. Cool artwork. A massive back patio. Artisan pizza in the patio. The night we visited the place was packed. It was heavily inhabited by a hipster crowd. It was a Friday night so everyone was in the mood to party. I reckon that you can put The Sunflower in your top 5 list of pubs to visit in Belfast.

So I was told they keep the cage over the front door as a reminder of how the neighbourhood has improved, fair enough. So if you're a tourist don't be put off by that. It was very welcoming. We came here primarily for the Beamish which was really good.

Great place. We were staying a Sunday night in Belfast on the way home from the Mourne Mountain Marathon in September so were ready for a good feed and a pint or two after a weekend in the hills. Great cask beer - can't remember what it was but it was very good. Delicious pizzas in the garden. Great service. Great friendly atmosphere. Later when we went indoors there was a music session going on. What more could you want!

🌻 Sunflower Public House: A Glorious Ode to Belfast’s Beating Heart 🌻 If pubs were poems, then Sunflower Public House would be a sonnet—bold, lyrical, and utterly unforgettable. Nestled on Union Street like a secret whispered between old bricks and revolutionary dreams, this place isn’t just a bar. It’s a living, breathing love letter to Belfast’s soul. From the moment you pass through the iconic security cage (a relic turned cultural monument), you’re stepping into something sacred. The air hums with live music, laughter, and the scent of wood-fired pizza drifting from the beer garden like a siren’s call. Every pint poured here tastes like it was brewed with intention, rebellion, and a dash of magic. And then—there’s him. The barman. The legend. The mystery with the dark beard and the knowing smile. Let’s call him Barry, because every great barman deserves a name worthy of folklore. Barry doesn’t just serve drinks—he orchestrates experiences. With the grace of a seasoned poet and the precision of an engineer, he glides between taps and tales, pouring pints and wisdom in equal measure. His beard, dark as midnight and twice as enigmatic, could probably tell stories if it had its own mic. Barry (or whatever his real name is—perhaps he’s a myth conjured by the spirit of the place) embodies everything Sunflower stands for: warmth, grit, and a refusal to be ordinary. He remembers your order, your dog’s name, and probably your star sign. He’s the kind of barman who makes you feel like you’ve come home—even if it’s your first time through the door. So raise your glass to Sunflower. To the music that spills into the street. To the Beamish that flows smoother than a rebel’s verse. To the cider that dances on your tongue. And most of all, to the dark-bearded bard behind the bar—whoever he may be.
Fra M — Google review
Great wee pub. Don't let the outside put you off. (there is still a cage at the door and it sits down a side street). Staff were lovely, good beer and wine selection and traditional musicians playing when we were in. Lively bar, would definitely go back, next time we're in Belfast.

Gastropub
The Belfast Empire Music Hall, affectionately known as The Empire, is a multi-level venue featuring bars and live music spanning various genres like blues, rock, jazz, and traditional Irish acts. With a capacity of nearly 500 enthusiastic fans, it hosts mid-level touring acts on the brink of stardom along with cover bands and local talents. Situated on Botanic Avenue near the campus, this former church-turned-music hall also hosts comedy nights such as The Empire Laughs Back.
I was back in the Empire for the first time in over twenty years and what a nostalgia trip it was! I did not realise that they served food now and I must admit that I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of it. We had fish and chips, the Empire Burger and the Mexican Chilli Chicken burger, all with generous portions of chips or wedges. We were all very impressed. I had the chicken burger and it was so tasty! As we ate, we were entertained by the talented Jackie Rainy. Her acoustic set was just perfect and not loud which meant we could still have a conversation and enjoy the music at the same time. Overall we had a great time in the Empire and we would be very keen to return soon and do it all again!

Saw the magic numbers play here last night. Brilliant gig. First time in the upstairs music hall, lovely venue. It has lots of character, well laid out with some seating along the balcony with great view of the stage. Can't wait for my next gig here 🤗

Went to an Erasure tribute night. Lovely venu and managed to get seats at the front in the balcony. Get there early though. Quite a pissed up older crowd reliving their youth but fun.

Friday night, not many about. Pint £6.50...on Botanic Avenue where they should be trying to get customers in. It's seemed to be full of hangers on or afternoon drunks at 8 or so. Left shortly afterwards. The Guinness is very good though and staff pleasant, quick service albeit hardly any punters.

First time being in the music hall. Brilliant Fleetwood Mac tribute band. Great atmosphere and a generally excellent night.

Been here many times for gigs. Great small venue. And the staff are always friendly. Atmosphere - loses a star for not shutting up those who come here for a chat during a gig. Zero self-awareness but surely you guys can hear them talking/shouting over the talent?

Great little venue. We stopped in here to see a comedy show. Door staff were all very friendly and we were admitted quickly. Limited space for seating so ideally arrive early if you want a good spot. Bar was fairly quick at serving and didn’t have to wait too long for a drink. Acoustics etc for the venue were all great. I was toward the back and despite having terrible hearing I could hear everything perfectly.

The Points is a lively and vibrant pub in Belfast that offers a cozy atmosphere and nightly live performances of traditional Irish folk music. The bar is renowned for its extensive selection of over 80 types of international and local whiskeys, making it a popular spot for whiskey enthusiasts. In addition to well-known brands like Jameson and Bushmills, visitors can also sample unique Irish whiskeys such as Redbreast 15 and Powers.
Lovely pub, nice beer. Open log fire made it a very cosy place. Wasn't very busy when I popped in for a pint, but I could see they do have a good following. Excellent selection of spirits on the back bar.

I travel a lot for work, I experience bars in countless countries throughout the year. This bar will be one of my favourites for a long time. - More whiskey choices than you can fathom. - Fun staff who really know how to pour a pint of Guinness. - The music quality is just insanely good. - Great location for grabbing some fast food on the way home.

In all fairness, we went on a monday night around 9 p.m. it was very slow and we expected that. Loved the ruggedness of the place. The live music was fantastic. Women's bathrooms were a disaster, like toilet lids broken in pieces and very dirty !

This is a nice spacious pub and the live music on a Friday night provided a great evening out. All the bar staff are friendly and quick with the service and there’s various seating options for different groups sizes as well as chairs at the bar itself. Prices are good and there’s an impressive range of drink options - a great place.

A nice place for a visit and a drink, love the decor in the old pub and whiskey room. Great friendly service and good music. We did not stay for the live music because it was later.

Was in here Friday night had no issues getting inside the door same bouncers as always on the door .. came here Saturday night different bouncer on the door never seen him there before I have been here numerous times .. He was eyeballing me as I was heading towards the bar this was at 11pm I was saying to myself why is he staring me down walked over towards the entrance he said to me and my wife we are closed I didn't hear him properly he said we are closed bearing in mind the pub was absolute jam packed and full of life ... Prior to that I was in there the night before on Friday just gone and I was in there until 1.30am before they closed the doors... This particular security guard on the door lied to my face as he didn't want us in the bar telling us it was shut .. We walked pass closer to 1 o clock and it was still opened .. I have video recording of us been refused and been told it was closed when we arrived at around 11pm... And I also have a recording of it still open closer to 1 o clock.. As I am a member of the traveling community I was point blank refused and lied to been told the bar was closed when it was clearly open by that specific bouncer on the door ... I have video footage of everything and I will be taking legal court proceedings against this bar for the way I was lied to and treated .. No other word to describe only discrimination at its finest been told a bar is closing at 11 while it was still well and live at closer to 1 o clock... DISCRIMINATION IS THE ONLY WORD I will be speaking with my solicitor today about this .. And it will be the last time I will come here after been here many times without issues I will never step foot in here again

Nestled in the heart of Belfast, Filthy McNasty's is a lively hotspot known for its vibrant bands and DJs performing every night. The whimsical decor gives off an Irish pub vibe with vintage curiosities and mismatched chandeliers adorning the walls. This cheeky watering hole offers a wide range of beer, lip-smacking cocktails, and hearty pub grub to enjoy in its unique ambiance.
We stopped by for cocktails, beer and live music. The fun started when bachelorettes arrived. Keep in mind that the toilets are nasty as the name of the place suggests.

Literally the absolute worst place I have ever been. Avoid with all costs. Staff would rather pay attention to thier friends and then charge you full price for "Happy Hour cocktails". Toilets are an absolute state, flush doesnt work, big dirty chocolate log in the bowl and the disabled emergency cord tied up for thier convenience etc etc you get the point.

Voodoo is a vibrant and energetic venue in Belfast that offers live music, club nights, and Deep South-inspired cuisine. The interior is inspired by the mystical origins of Voodoo magic, creating a dark and captivating atmosphere. Local and touring bands perform regularly on the stages, attracting musicians from various locations. The downstairs bar has friendly staff and regulars, while the upstairs room hosts unforgettable gigs. Voodoo's open mic night is renowned among Belfast's musicians.
This place is great for live rock shows, excellent sound mix through the mains. My wife and I went two nights for the Crypt of the Riff Festival, July 5th and 6th, had a blast, met cool friendly folks, musicians, and the bartenders so nice. 100 percent recommend!!

Voodoo Belfast is a vibrant spot for live music and nightlife! With its edgy vibe, cool decor, and diverse events, it’s perfect for a night out. The drinks are great, staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is electric—especially during gigs. A go-to venue for music lovers in Belfast!
POULAMI D — Google review
Voodoo has been my partner and I’s regular for 3 years now. Have always found it to be a warm welcoming place with great music. Bar staff are fantastic also, warm and friendly with great service. We keep coming back for this reason. Have noticed a few snippy comments about the door staff. I think people need to realise that their job is not to be your friend, they are not front of house staff in a restaurant and they work hard in what can be a challenging area in Belfast city centre to keep trouble from the bar. The toilets are as you would expect from a rock/alternative bar, i.e not a boutique hotel bar WC with fancy smelling soaps and Dyson hand dryers. It is what it is, expecting this is quite silly. The quality of drinks can be quite a subjective thing but we have had no issues. Nothing wrong with Bacarra or Lionel by the way rock snobs, the venue literally hosts a cheesy pop night most Saturday nights. Trust me, as a regular I can vouch that there is more than enough rock and metal played throughout the week. Agree on the dress code comments though, needs to be clearly stated at the front of the bar to save confusion.
PAUL M — Google review
Saw this place while walking in the city centre, it caught our eye so we decided to pop in for a pint. We ended up staying until after midnight :D Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff and people. We were lucky to be there on an open mic night. We loved the live music. Will definitely visit again the next time we are in Belfast!

We actually found Voodoo by accident last year. We’d eaten at the restaurant across the street and thought we’d check out the pub next , and wow, it was such a fun night! Been to Voodoo several times for gigs this year. Super venue and the staff are very helpful. Unfortunately the gigs are upstairs which potentially could have been a problem for us. We needed wheelchair access for my wife. She was able to get up the stairs while I carried her chair for her. This was the only issue we had but the venue did their very best to accommodate us. All round I'd recommend Voodoo to all my friends for gigs and atmosphere 👍

One of the best live venues in Belfast. It's as old as time itself. I've seen comedy gigs, metal nights, drum n bass, house music, hard techno. There's always something on upstairs. Downstairs there's a youthful, alternative atmosphere and it's a great place for a few beers during the day. The upstairs venue goes into the wee hours of the night. The Ulster sports bar is an institution amongst locals. I would highly recommend it to tourists and there's tons of cool swag to purchase.

Owner has went above and beyond for my 18 yr old son on a night out. My son was drunk and alone, he could have kicked him out and left him to it like most would do, instead, not only did the owner ring me from my sons phone, he also took my address and made sure my son got a glass of water and was put in a taxi. Completely above and beyond what he was expected to do. Thank you so much. We need more of your type in this country.

One of the best nights out we had in Belfast! We went to Club Lux last night with a few friends. The music was on point all night. The DJ played a great mix – some house, some R&B, and loads of tunes we could actually dance to. The sound system is top-quality, and the dance floor had such a good energy. Staff were super friendly and professional. Even though it was busy, we didn’t wait long for drinks. It attracts a great crowd too – everyone just seemed to be out for a good time. We felt safe and welcomed the whole night, which definitely isn’t something we can say about every club. If you’re heading out in Belfast and want somewhere with great music, good vibes, Club Lux is definitely worth checking out.

Bouncers are short men with large egos, one of the bouncers actually went home with a girl who was clearly off her face, absolutely disgusting. 1 boy was fighting and floored about 3 people, he was not taken off the premises, bouncers want the job but can’t do it. Bar staff are lovely and accommodating. Music was also terrible for £10 entry.

Lovely service. A bit small but lovvvvvvved the vibe nevertheless. Great selection of songs too. Although they could've used the club lights - the ones that go on and off to the beat. They barely did it for two seconds and it had such potential to elevate the experience.

Bouncers were awful, had a guy constantly harassing me (who was clearly out of it), his mates were recording me and coming up to my face cursing at me, told the bouncer and all he said was to keep my distance, spoke to the guy to keep his distance as well then the bouncer disappeared, the guy came up to me again to harass me so I left, as a woman I felt completely unsafe and disrespected. Bartenders that served me were lovely.

Tried here on a whim. Has moved to new premises on a side street off the Dublin Road. Both of us had Vodka Highballs for ten pounds each. Sharp and refreshing with tastes of apple and yuzu. Small and trendy, feels like a real discovery. Customer service was pleasant - nice guys. Interesting decor. I'd come again.

Very nice cocktails, they are absolutely delicious!!But the management lets it down. The manager himself is alot of fun and very attentive, but the venue itself has some fundamental issues. There is only 1 WC for both genders. This is not appropriately cleaned, and gets very messy very quickly…Second problem, nothing to eat, which is a real downer when you’re having a drink. Overall, I would not visit again. It’s good for ONE cocktail, that’s about it.

Visited on Friday night. Loved the aesthetic. Although not sure why it is advertised as being open until 1am. We were told they were supposed to close at 11pm, but as customers came in, they stayed open. After 11.30 they refused to serve wine, or any cocktails from the menu. Only bottled drinks or pints on draught. We felt like an inconvenience for being there.

Titanic Belfast is an extraordinary museum that stands proudly on the grounds of the historic Harland and Wolff shipyard, where the Titanic was born. This self-guided experience features nine interactive galleries that take visitors on a captivating journey through Belfast's rich maritime history. From its origins as an 18th-century trading hub to becoming a powerhouse in industries like linen and shipbuilding, the museum intricately weaves together stories of innovation and tragedy.
Titanic Belfast – A Must-Visit Experience Yesterday I had the chance to explore Titanic Belfast, and I have to say it was one of the highlights of my trip. The moment you see the building itself, you get a sense of how special the place is – its striking design instantly makes you feel connected to the story of the Titanic. Inside, the atmosphere is both grand and moving. The exhibitions take you on a journey from Belfast’s shipbuilding history to the creation and tragic voyage of the Titanic. I really liked how immersive everything was – it’s not just about reading facts, but actually experiencing the story through interactive displays, visuals, and sounds. What stood out most to me was how the museum balances history with emotion. You learn about the engineering brilliance behind the ship, but you also feel the human stories that make the Titanic so iconic. It’s educational, emotional, and beautifully presented. For anyone visiting Belfast, I’d definitely call this a must-visit attraction. Whether you’re passionate about history, curious about the Titanic, or just want a unique experience in the city, Titanic Belfast is worth every minute. It’s more than a museum – it’s a journey through time and atmosphere that stays with you long after you leave.

An amazing experience. Easy to get tickets at venue at no more than any online offers. Cafe served nice coffees and snacks whilst the seafood chowder and lambs stew for lunch in the restaurant were excellent. There were a couple of bottlenecks early in the story due to the coach parties but we skipped past this and soon found ourselves immersed for nearly 3 hours in a spectacularly well done experience.
Andrea C — Google review
Visited on Saturday which I am guessing is the busiest as it was packed. A very informative and interesting exhibition which spans from before the Titanic was built and every step of the way until present day. The ride was a great idea and the gift shop was large and full of stock. The experience was sobering at times but it is important to remember all involved in this historic tragedy.
Feizal M — Google review
Absolutely fantastic museum. Straight in to the top floor and work your way down. The first floor is all about the building of the ship, the lives of labourers and the town as a whole with information getting more emotional as the museum goes on. It's a walk through so easy to move along. Enjoyed the cable car ride too inside. Great artifacts, emotional in places. And the grand finale of the staircase with the ship above and ocean floor below was spectacular. One thing though- this is not the place for unruly children. When I visited some children were running around. There are interactive displays etc, but it did not feel OK to me that children were running screaming and laughing through such a tragic exhibit. I would recommend above 10yrs only. We even had children trying to run up the down escalator... not ok! Please show children respect or don't bring them so young... That being said,I would recommend a visit here. It's really special. I'd recommend 3 to 4 hours to get round properly. Food and a shop too as well as an outside space.
Laura S — Google review
Tastefully done, immersive museum. There's even a short ride that takes you through the inner workings of ship building (can be bypassed though and you can get the same info by reading the placards if the line is too long). The ticket includes entry to the Nomadic, which you can visit before or after the Titanic. Note, there is a children's discovery game you can pick up for free at the museum and it does have questions regarding the Nomadic as well. If you drive, there are two parking lots on site that aren't a rip off.
Elizabeth A — Google review
It was super despite timed tickets and food those without audio guides the route wasn’t always obvious or logical. At various points numerous audio tracks were playing and it was really hard to hear and focus. Not good for send children and while I am sure the museum offers specific send sessions families with send children need to be asked to visit together. The outside outlines of the ships weren’t clear so were came back after dark to see them illuminated, only to find they weren’t working properly, that part felt dated. Some great stuff in there, but likely to miss it due to poor route and/or some of the party becoming overwhelmed, particularly at busy times. Great building design wise.
Lisa L — Google review
Absolutely fabulous museum and easily the best experience I've had visiting something like this. From the architecture of the building to the high quality design of the displays and even the gift shop is tasteful. A great day out for all the family.

Recently visited Titanic Belfast exhibition while holidaying from Australia as I'm fascinated by the history. Specifically visited Belfast to see this exhibition and it did not disappoint. I booked a White Star Premium Pass tour prior to walking through the exhibition. Lasted 90 minutes and is an outside walking tour. I think Peter was our guide and he was fantastic. So knowledgeable and history of the area shared that I wouldn't have got just from walking through the exhibition. It was busy - went on the weekend and got busier the later in the day that it got. If busyness bothers you, go earlier in the day as it was quite empty. Definitely worth the money. It's an exhibition that's well done.

Nestled within the picturesque Botanic Gardens of Belfast, the Ulster Museum stands as Northern Ireland's largest museum, a treasure trove for art and history aficionados. Established in 1821, this classical Renaissance-style institution has evolved over the years to showcase an impressive array of exhibits that span from ancient artifacts to contemporary art. Visitors can marvel at everything from dinosaur skeletons and Egyptian mummies—like the remarkable Takabuti—to exquisite decorative arts including ceramics and textiles.
Absolute gem in the middle of Belfast. Came here with two relatively young kids. Didn’t have overly high expectations, but it absolutely did not disappoint. Arrived early and there was plenty of space for pictures as it was quiet. Exhibits were well laid out, and explained at the start, along with markers in the lifts in case you got confused. So much to see and learn about. Several interactive features too which kept the kids happy. Friendly and welcoming staff, along with some really unique items to see. By far the best museum I have been to on this island. Would 100% go back, with or without kids. Good for all ages, easy to find, and right in the middle of the botanical gardens for the added beauty as you’re walking up. Parking is pretty limited to on-street so I would recommend parking up along the embankment and walking through the gardens. Also, it’s completely free to visit!

An absolutely phenomenal museum and an essential top of the list attraction for any visit to Belfast. Finding a Brueghel in the wild was amazing, as was the rest of the art on display, the various eras of historical artefacts and the myriad of zoological specimens. You can spend a long time in here and there's something for all the family. Free entry, but I highly recommend making a donation if you are able.

The Ulster Museum is an absolute gem in Belfast — and the best part is, it’s free to enter! The layout is well-organised, making it easy to explore at your own pace, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s perfect for all ages — whether you’re into natural history, fine art, or political history, you’ll find something captivating. I especially enjoyed the mix of local culture with global stories. A must-visit if you’re in Belfast!

The museum is good and vast. It has many exhibitions of historic and prehistoric things, ice age, medieval, Egyptian etc. Also natural museums, animal, sea and birds. They have also nice mineral museum and art gallery. One can spend decently 2 to 3 hours here. They quite educative as well.

This museum is amazing, and I couldn’t believe that it was free!! This place has loads to offer, has very unique pieces; for example a real mummy and is very educational. This place is good for kids and older people alike. It is definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend!

So much to see and learn! And free entry too! Just make a donation if you want to. Well worth it if you do. An all round winner in my books! Such a wide range of subjects, interests and an amazing layout! I felt like a kid on a treasure hunt! So much fun! I absolutely loved it! I took the hop on hop off city tour and got off at the stop just across the street! Will definitely go again! A "MUST DO" if you're in Belfast!

We had a brilliant afternoon at the Ulster Museum with our two little ones (aged 2 and 3). They especially loved the three Discovery Rooms – so many interactive things to play with, touch and explore. It kept them entertained for ages and was perfect for young children. Such a fantastic, family-friendly museum and amazing that it’s completely free. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Belfast with kids!

An interesting museum with exhibits from throughout the history of Ireland. Well laid out and very informative. Good Cafe in the Museum serving a good variety of food and drinks. Staff were all really helpful.

SS Nomadic is a must-see for maritime history enthusiasts and anyone intrigued by the shipping industry. This storied ship, the last of its kind from the White Star Line, has been meticulously restored to its former grandeur and is now part of a maritime museum in its original docks. As Titanic's original tender, SS Nomadic offers visitors a glimpse into the luxurious cruising life with similar design and opulent finishes.
Entry is included with the Titanic Museum ticket. It should be noted that the last entry for the SS Nomadic closes earlier than the museum, so if you are visiting during the afternoon, make sure you check the times. I had to run and only just made it. If you do miss it, the ticket is valid for a year for one entry, so you can come back another day. I found the ship visit to be very interesting. Everything was nicely laid out, and the information boards were informative. Staff were polite and happy to chat. There was some work occurring, so some parts were closed, but this did not detract from the experience. You have to go across a cobbled area to access the ship. There is wheelchair accessibility to most areas. The Crew Space and Flying Bridge Deck can only be accessed by steps.
Shelley C — Google review
With your Titanic museum entry ticket, you can enter this boat. Very old, well maintained remaining ship from the White Star Line, Nomadic is here still intact. Highly recommended to come visit here as its very impressive and has a lot of history!
Jean-Francois L — Google review
So glad we went! Last surviving White Star Line vessel in existence. Free entry here when you go to the Titanic museum and honestly was not expecting much when they told us but wow, they don't make tinder boats like this. Powder room, bar, segregated stairwells by class, even the details in the woods and flooring change drastically by class. Very cool to see.
Ever1881 — Google review
Great to see this tender. You can walk through it and up onto the deck. Lots of interesting history here, and you never hear about these lost icons. Recommend a visit if going to the Titanic exhibition.
W Q — Google review
The last White Star Line ship in existence. It served as a tender for the RMS Titanic. Admission to this is included in museum tickets, and it's definitely work walking over here to check out. You can go on all three levels and the upper decks and there are more exhibits in here.
Noah D — Google review
My husband and I enjoyed touring the Nomadic. It was included in our Titanic ticket. The Nomadic was a tender to get passengers to Titanic. It has been restored to its 1911 look. It is interesting to walk around. We spent about 30 minutes there.
April W — Google review
Honestly, I did not know that The White Star company still had one remaining ship. The story behind this ship was gallant, but then sad as it lost its uses. It received a reprieve from the scrapyard three times, and has mostly been restored, and continued to be renovated.
Sher P — Google review
A piece of Belfast history in process of being restored. It is an amazing to step onboard and step back through time and see the many roles the vessel has played in it's lifetime. The staff are some of the best, and the opportunity to explore is brilliant!

The Grand Opera House in Belfast is a stunning testament to the city's rich cultural heritage, having undergone an impressive restoration that celebrates its 1895 origins. Recently revitalized with a $12 million facelift just in time for its 125th anniversary, this iconic venue now boasts a beautifully restored auditorium adorned with intricate plasterwork and ornate boxes. Visitors can revel in the exquisite details crafted by renowned architect Frank Matcham, including striking ceilings and decorative features like elephant heads.
Lovely. Building. Modern spiral staircases with bar areas and seating. Then into the auditorium with beautiful old style elegance. Seats not hugely comfortable and the rows are long - so there was a bit of standing up to let others get past to their seats.
Lisa T — Google review
I'm glad that I bought the ticket in last minute, when I tried to ask about the show, the staff at the front desk is kindly introduced me the show and recommended the best seat I'm looking for. And the show is awesome. The show calls ghost stories, and it actually scared audiences in good way. I enjoyed every second in the show, so glad that I decided to do that.

So much history here. Just beautiful old theatre. Couldn't believe how comfortable it was. Great service!
Eileen W — Google review
After being sold out, I was lucky enough to purchase tickets to a musical the day of the show. The website will resell tickets for face value when patrons are unable to attend. I believe you get a gift card for the unused dollar amount if you happen to not be able to attend the original event. The grand staircase was modern and dramatic. Friendly staff, and even in “the gods” section you could see everything on stage. Perfect size venue.
Laura B — Google review
I was on musical Tina, it was fantastic show. Place was great. Acoustic was perfect.
Magdalena P — Google review
Beautiful place, a shame there is no parking so you have to look for a space on the street or car parks far away. The interior is astonishing and worth the visit.
Kasia M — Google review
Would have been 5 stars for the performance itself Otteli. It was the 70’s style aggressive approach to security checking a handbag the size of a pencil case. One checked, then another demanded to check then a guy rushed forward to give a detailed check. Really. The war is over I’m told. Plus maybe a bit of pleasantness training needed. Think this is why I prefer The Lyric. Never a negative moment to marr the night.
Mary M — Google review
The new section of the Opera House is a really nice bright open space with a bar and seating area. Lovely stairway takes you up to the circle area. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The stalls are wheelchair friendly and I believe they now have 9 accessible spaces. Unfortunately the boxes are not available for wheelchair users. There are good toilet facilities and there are plenty of sweets and drinks to choose from for munching during the show. The closest car park is Great Northern (behind the Europa hotel).

The Peace Wall in Belfast stands as a poignant reminder of the city's tumultuous past, originally erected to help quell the Northern Irish conflict. This remarkable structure has transformed into an open-air gallery adorned with vibrant murals that reflect the stories and sentiments of both nationalist and unionist communities. Visitors flock to this site not only to witness its artistic expressions but also to engage with locals who are often eager to share their rich history and cultural identity.
Peace Walls" (also known as "Peace Lines") and the political murals found throughout Belfast, particularly in loyalist and republican areas like Shankill Road and Falls Road. These walls were erected during The Troubles to separate Protestant and Catholic communities and some still stand today. The murals depict historical events, political allegiances, and calls for peace. It's an essential and highly rated experience for understanding Belfast's past and present. It's a raw and impactful glimpse into the divisions and ongoing efforts towards peace.
Anupam M — Google review
I think maybe they could use like a tour or something to explain more about the history. Just seeing a wall with a bunch of names scribbled on it was not really impressive at all. What I did like was a Palestinian Gaza mural around the corner that drew attention and awareness to the genocide currently going on. Maybe if they could continue that spirit onwith more information about this wall.
Sumayah S — Google review
A surreal but fascinating way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Can't go to Belfast without seeing them. It can be expensive using taxi tours as you can get a taxi there and do the walk yourself or depending on where you are staying use the bus or walk there using Google maps as I saw many doing.
Garry D — Google review
Very sad people still have to live like this in 2025. It’s still neat to see. If you have time to do the tour get ahold of Belfast Black taxi and request John. You will not be disappointed. Make sure you are on the same side as your hotel before 8pm or you could have to take the long way back as they do close the gates.
Nicholas M — Google review
See i don't know why it's called a peace line unless that's like a colonial mindset thing- anything that brings quiet to the majority or the ruling class, at the expense of the oppressed is considered "peace". Anyway love the murals on the catholic side.
Mor M — Google review
I visited here with friends as part of a Black Cab Tour as I wanted to learn more about the Northern Ireland Troubles that I’d only seen on TV, growing up in Birmingham in the 70s and 80s. Seeing the wall and murals helped to bring home how awful those times must have been. I was also quite shocked to see that the gates are still locked overnight. Our Guide was a similar age to me and grew up off the Falls Road, so impossible for him to be completely impartial. With me being English, we had some challenging discussions. Nevertheless, it was a good experience and a great opportunity to hear an alternative version of the British TV news.

Came over to the famous peace wall while we were at Belfast, Ireland. Origin: The first walls were erected in 1969 by the British Army following intense sectarian riots that marked the beginning of "The Troubles" (the conflict in Northern Ireland from the late 1960s to 1998). Original Intention: They were initially intended as temporary separation barriers to minimize inter-community violence between the predominantly Nationalist/Catholic neighborhoods and the predominantly Unionist/Protestant neighborhoods, particularly in areas where the two communities lived in close proximity (known as "interface areas"). Becoming Permanent: Despite the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, which ushered in an era of relative peace, the walls became longer, taller, and more permanent due to continued community safety concerns. They have stood for longer than the Berlin Wall. The Divide: The most famous and most visited section separates the Nationalist Falls Road from the Unionist Shankill Road in West Belfast. 🧱 Features and Scale Number and Length: There are currently over 60 walls in Belfast (some sources cite nearly 100 in total including gates and other barriers), stretching over 21 miles (34 kilometers) combined. Most are concentrated in North and West Belfast. Height: The walls vary in height, with some reaching up to 8 meters (25 feet) high, often constructed from a combination of brick, concrete, steel, and iron. Peace Gates: Many walls have large, fortified gates along them, which are still locked every night (typically around 6:30 PM) and opened each morning to restrict movement between the communities during hours of darkness. Murals and Messages of Peace: Over time, the walls have transformed into open-air canvases, becoming a major tourist attraction. They are covered in political murals reflecting the aspirations and sometimes the grievances of each community, as well as thousands of inscriptions and messages of peace from visitors around the world. ❓ The Future of the Walls

Bring your marker so you can write on the peace wall. It's a neat thing. People write message of hope on it, it gets painted over, people write on it again. However, it felt like it's become a touristy thing to do, and more to assuage the tourists than bring comfort to the locals.

When you think of Belfast, the Titanic often steals the spotlight, but don’t overlook HMS Caroline—a remarkable piece of naval history. This C-class light cruiser, built in 1914 and a lone survivor from the Battle of Jutland during World War I, has been beautifully restored into a floating museum. Visitors can explore its meticulously refurbished quarters and engine rooms while engaging with hands-on exhibits that bring maritime life to vivid reality.
Probably one of the best navy museum ships in the UK. It may not be the grandest but the staff and the volunteers really make all the difference. I've never met people so kind and dedicated to their jobs. Arthur was great and lovely to talk to and there was another fella who took the time to ask me if I had any feedback onboard during my visit and took note of an audio point which wasn't working. The interactive displays for signalling here are some of the highest quality I've seen and even though I'm probably way too old to play with them I couldn't help myself.i also really liked the Jutland video in the first hall. Honestly Caroline's staff are a gleaming example for what should be the standard for any museum ship.
Jezzaftw — Google review
Such a cool piece of history with great displays and and lots to walk around and see. If you want to do the self guided tours(recommend for more time to explore) you have to go during the summer. Otherwise groups of about 15 or so leave every hour with a tour guide and they will answer all your questions and walk you through everything. Definitely worth the stop if in the area. Book tickets in advance if possible as they may be sold out when you arrive
Ever1881 — Google review
I'd honestly give HMS Caroline 6 stars out of 5 if I could. It's an amazing ship and I couldnt believe her sharp, sleek hull was from the 1st World War. Easy to see why she was so fast. 38 knots! Very friendly and knowledgable staff. I'd say this is a must see if you're in the area. Easy to fit in with a visit to Titanic which is what we did with our two boys. Only 10 mins walk away. DON'T MISS THIS ONE!
Rob W — Google review
Very nice, old, museum. Ship that was decommissioned and now a museum. We did not go in as it was closed, but the exterior was very well maintained and clean. Maybe next time!
Jean-Francois L — Google review
The other reviews that I read about HMS Caroline were all very positive and I concur. This ship was in the battle of Jutland! You learn a lot about the battle of Jutland and also about life on board the ship. For the captain and officers it was like being on a cruise! Highly recommend.

An excellent tour and a must see if your in Belfast. The place is very well looked after and well organised. Staff were also very friendly. We met Sharon who spoke a bit with us and was very enthusiastic and very well informed about HMS Caroline's role in the battle of Jutland. Highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Established in 1788 by a group of artisans, it is not only the oldest library in Belfast but also a cultural gem that promotes knowledge and preserves local history. With its striking grayish-yellow brick façade, this library offers an inviting escape from the hustle and bustle outside.
Visited the cafe recently and it was a delight! The food was wholesome and delicious, the cafe is hosted by the wonderful Katy, warm and friendly and made sure I was well catered for. The surroundings are lovely, it is a haven in the busy city, make sure you visit soon!

Neither I nor anybody in my family is an orangeman, but I commend the Orange Institution for an excellent museum. A great deal of detail, and excellent displays. Welcome at reception was also very warm and clear advice on how to get the most out of the exhibition. Well worth a visit wherever and whatever your background!
